- 0:53Speaker 3: picking up right where it left off, and we'll catsh
- 0:56Speaker 3: up for the guy they call Monty in the Crack
- 0:58Speaker 3: and dressing room one on one here in just a
- 1:01Speaker 3: bits before we get into the conversation. Here's how things
- 1:04Speaker 3: unfolded from this previous week. In a very light week,
- 1:07Speaker 3: just two games in a span of six days, the
- 1:11Speaker 3: Kraken engaged in a heated comeback against the Montreal Canadians
- 1:15Speaker 3: and then going right down to the wire in a
- 1:18Speaker 3: heated battle with the New York Rangers.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Near signs. His suit teas down low bump pass, Slavkovski scores.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Tic tac goal well the Montreal Canadians, and Slovkowski's got
- 1:34Speaker 4: his second point of the night, power play goal two
- 1:37Speaker 4: thirty two left in the first one nothing or to nothing.
- 1:40Speaker 5: Excuse me Montreal on tour.
- 1:42Speaker 4: To the near sign, but on back in boltop now
- 1:45Speaker 4: for doc left side around it want to save Why
- 1:49Speaker 4: Joey to a cord? He goes by Montour to cord
- 1:54Speaker 4: down his belly kept the left leg there to keep
- 1:57Speaker 4: the block out of a net and the two goal
- 2:00Speaker 4: deficit in town top sitting in the air sign dock
- 2:03Speaker 4: in the circle, sit the cross shot tep score second
- 2:09Speaker 4: power play goal a night from Montreal. That was a
- 2:11Speaker 4: new hook who took the shot from the right circle.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Pinballs off some skates in by to the cord and
- 2:19Speaker 4: the Montreal Canadians their second power play goal, have a
- 2:23Speaker 4: three nothing lead and gets.
- 2:25Speaker 1: It back right side up top Montour shot ten start.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Randon Montour from the line, redirected into the net and
- 2:40Speaker 4: the Seattle cracket on the power play get on the
- 2:43Speaker 4: board three to one.
- 2:45Speaker 1: They cut their deficit to two. Well, good puck movement
- 2:48Speaker 1: by anything the crack.
- 2:49Speaker 6: It starts with catting back to the Montour he puts
- 2:52Speaker 6: but hard on debt. I believe it went off of
- 2:55Speaker 6: something and I think it was Jaden Schwartz's stick.
- 2:58Speaker 4: It was either Schwartz or carry A because Carrie a
- 3:03Speaker 4: was the one.
- 3:03Speaker 1: One goes off carry a stick and in by Jacob Dobash,
- 3:07Speaker 1: so that will be on Tour's goal. The cracket on
- 3:10Speaker 1: the board down three one.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Here comes only Tolen it right in on goal. That
- 3:14Speaker 4: one knocked away now Shane right stood. Shane right off
- 3:25Speaker 4: a fifty pass drifting into the slot and the Seattle
- 3:29Speaker 4: cracket cut the deficit to one.
- 3:32Speaker 1: It's off grade two. Canadians lead here in the third, but.
- 3:37Speaker 6: You can feel that pump pot Boilian partners the crack
- 3:40Speaker 6: and move the pocket to the offensive ends cycle around
- 3:42Speaker 6: the back of the dead and it was mob toward
- 3:44Speaker 6: feeding right in the high slot rank. It's a one
- 3:47Speaker 6: timer off peak stoebas plump side tos shelf is game
- 3:51Speaker 6: three two.
- 3:51Speaker 4: Now crack it regained possession done drifting center point.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Across Montor stop.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Welcome back Brandon Montor. He's got two third variad goals
- 4:13Speaker 4: and the Seattle cracking tie the game at three.
- 4:17Speaker 1: One forty three left in the third for Montreal.
- 4:21Speaker 6: I don't know why, but Montreal gives the Seattle excellent
- 4:24Speaker 6: offensive zone entrance. They get control on the half boards
- 4:27Speaker 6: and Monty picks that puck up off of a done pass.
- 4:31Speaker 5: And puts a.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Bomb on net.
- 4:33Speaker 5: This game's tighty three.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Her up Callagher gives it up and throws it in
- 4:37Speaker 1: the middle.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Intercept it five left Carrie a here sign Anderson settles,
- 4:42Speaker 4: shoots knock down loose puck on that doorstep. Monteur blocks
- 4:48Speaker 4: the puck and we are going to overtime. Here in Seattle,
- 4:52Speaker 4: off field left circle around done golf field, stopped by
- 4:56Speaker 4: the cord.
- 4:57Speaker 1: It's in a score. Cole Cawfield does it again to Seattle,
- 5:06Speaker 1: his second goal of the night.
- 5:09Speaker 4: Another overtime winner. He just shams it in passed accord
- 5:18Speaker 4: and forty four seconds in new overtime. The Canadians here
- 5:22Speaker 4: take the extra point against Sam Carrick right side behind
- 5:26Speaker 4: the gold wrap.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Around try big, same like Toby.
- 5:29Speaker 4: The card coming from his left to his right, hits
- 5:33Speaker 4: his legout to make sure that one never got through
- 5:36Speaker 4: to Bit's done. Told it back to it done left side.
- 5:39Speaker 4: Stevenson fires stood.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Chandler.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Stevenson on the power plane has tied the game for Seattle.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Oh, thank Heaven.
- 5:55Speaker 4: Seventy eleven left in the first period, We're tied at one.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Fantastic puck Booman on this cracking power play.
- 6:01Speaker 5: It starts over with Tobendah.
- 6:03Speaker 6: On left side on the flank, he gets it back
- 6:05Speaker 6: to dun Dunn thinks about shooting.
- 6:07Speaker 5: He waits to claw few defenders.
- 6:09Speaker 1: To him, then gives it to his left.
- 6:10Speaker 5: Stevenson's there.
- 6:11Speaker 1: He goes top Shouflins Sturko.
- 6:13Speaker 5: Games tied at one.
- 6:14Speaker 1: On the Rangers back game, Cooley left side shot.
- 6:17Speaker 4: Turned aside to Cord, couldn't handle the rebound and the
- 6:21Speaker 4: Rangers bang it home. Noah Waba his second goal in
- 6:26Speaker 4: the National Hockey League and the Rangers rega in the lead.
- 6:29Speaker 4: Two one's Steven's in right Wing, fresh off the bench,
- 6:31Speaker 4: hands it now for Schwartz.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Jayden Schwartz turns in the corner now to mon Tour
- 6:36Speaker 1: off the fence, stop.
- 6:44Speaker 4: Hop bo from Brandon on the right side and Seattle
- 6:50Speaker 4: precond retire the game.
- 6:52Speaker 1: To two thirteen oh one left at period number two.
- 6:56Speaker 6: Well, Seattle is doing an excellent job doing a line
- 6:59Speaker 6: change in the offensive.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Jaden Schwartz curls up the wall.
- 7:02Speaker 5: Five.
- 7:03Speaker 6: Montour, coming up off the bench, puts me this wheelhouse Montreu.
- 7:07Speaker 4: With a bob to Stony left it over time here
- 7:11Speaker 4: comes further here side Cooley settles, shoots, scores. Rangers got
- 7:17Speaker 4: the cord to bite Will Cooley right circle.
- 7:20Speaker 1: He snaps it in by Jobey the cord.
- 7:23Speaker 4: Back to back overtime win for the Rangers, back to
- 7:26Speaker 4: back overtime losses for the Cracking.
- 7:29Speaker 2: They fall three.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Two highlights our courtesy of our rock stars in the booth.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Everga fits you, al Kiniski in a pretty light week,
- 7:35Speaker 3: given the fact that we're gonna be seeing more weeks
- 7:38Speaker 3: like this one coming up in less like the previous week.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Just two games period the Krack and dropping and overtime
- 7:44Speaker 3: loss for three to the Montreal Canadians and then three
- 7:48Speaker 3: to two to the New York Rangers in the first
- 7:51Speaker 3: of two matchups. These teams we'll see against each other
- 7:54Speaker 3: next time. We'll be January at Madison Square Garden, the
- 7:58Speaker 3: first game back for Ryan Lingrin and Compocaco on the
- 8:02Speaker 3: schedules since that trade. But they have seen the former
- 8:05Speaker 3: teammates now once for this season. So the crack and
- 8:08Speaker 3: trying to snap out a back to back overtime losses,
- 8:12Speaker 3: but still very much hanging in there in the thick
- 8:14Speaker 3: of it through eleven games. After this past weekend, the
- 8:18Speaker 3: record standing heading into the final two games of the
- 8:21Speaker 3: home stand at five to two and four fourteen points
- 8:26Speaker 3: and going to bed after Saturday with a third place
- 8:28Speaker 3: hold in the Pacific Division. Rangers out of the picture now,
- 8:33Speaker 3: Montreal's out of the picture now, San Jose, Chicago, Dallas,
- 8:38Speaker 3: Saint Louis among the teams coming up this next week.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Let's get into it right now. Ever it fits you,
- 8:43Speaker 3: Al Koniski, right back where we started from on Cracking Weekly, Fellas,
- 8:49Speaker 3: how's your Sunday going, and Al, you've got jokes for
- 8:52Speaker 3: days that got us going before we got on the air.
- 8:55Speaker 3: But I will say the sense of humor is always
- 8:58Speaker 3: ten out of ten.
- 8:59Speaker 2: As the kids would say.
- 9:02Speaker 5: Thanks Mikey, the only dad jokes on the air, But
- 9:05Speaker 5: I saved my best for you guys.
- 9:06Speaker 3: That's where I get my dad jokes from, just like
- 9:09Speaker 3: Everett as well, from the Everett I should say. Yeah,
- 9:12Speaker 3: So let's get into I think from the last couple
- 9:15Speaker 3: of games and a pretty light week compared to what
- 9:18Speaker 3: the crackit are going to be facing here for this
- 9:20Speaker 3: next week. Four games in a six day period and
- 9:24Speaker 3: we're going to see a lot of this over and
- 9:26Speaker 3: over and over based on the schedule and trying to
- 9:29Speaker 3: condense the Olympics as well into this. So, I mean,
- 9:32Speaker 3: I said this back on the air for postgame. There's
- 9:35Speaker 3: kind of like two schools of thought when you try
- 9:36Speaker 3: to dissect an overtime point and how you got there
- 9:40Speaker 3: and what the end result was and what led to
- 9:44Speaker 3: the overtime winner of the overtime loss, So meaning overtime
- 9:47Speaker 3: loss against Montreal. You get a point, but you had
- 9:49Speaker 3: to dig yourself out of a three nothing hole to
- 9:51Speaker 3: get there. Overtime loss against New York Rangers against a
- 9:54Speaker 3: team that's by all accounts pretty stacked still under head
- 9:58Speaker 3: coach Mike Sullivan, and they you've been Juggernauts on the
- 10:01Speaker 3: road early on, but yet you hangs just thirty four
- 10:04Speaker 3: shots on net in two games combined. How satisfied are
- 10:09Speaker 3: we here after these two games?
- 10:12Speaker 4: You know, Mike, I feel like it's a double ed sword,
- 10:17Speaker 4: because I the team is playing well enough obviously to
- 10:21Speaker 4: record points in the standings, But you know, if we're
- 10:25Speaker 4: honest about where this team, where we think this team
- 10:29Speaker 4: will be right, we think this team is going to
- 10:31Speaker 4: be in playoff contention, wildcard spot. You know they're going
- 10:36Speaker 4: to be in it. You're hoping through game seventy five,
- 10:41Speaker 4: game eighty, you're gonna still be playing mediful games. If
- 10:44Speaker 4: you're a bubble team like the Kraken, potentially could be
- 10:48Speaker 4: you need to find ways to bank two points. But
- 10:51Speaker 4: also I feel like the last couple of years, if
- 10:55Speaker 4: you look at the Montreal game, you look at the
- 10:56Speaker 4: Rangers game from the last two those games would have
- 11:00Speaker 4: gone wildly in the other direction, and I think for
- 11:02Speaker 4: the Kraken to be able to pull points out against
- 11:05Speaker 4: those teams. Montreal had a terrible start in that game.
- 11:09Speaker 4: They got better as it went on, and Brandon Montour
- 11:13Speaker 4: literally single handedly. He factored in on all three of
- 11:15Speaker 4: the goals, dragging the Crack in into overtime. You look
- 11:18Speaker 4: at the Rangers game again, Rangers started out fast, probably
- 11:23Speaker 4: not their best start, they stayed with them and they
- 11:25Speaker 4: were able to get a point out of it. I
- 11:27Speaker 4: think that the Kraken, though, need to find ways to
- 11:32Speaker 4: start getting two points. And I look at Colorado seven
- 11:35Speaker 4: to one and five. But they've got Landis Kogg, and
- 11:38Speaker 4: they've got a car and they've got McKinnon. Right, they've
- 11:42Speaker 4: got big players that can score goals and take over
- 11:46Speaker 4: when needed. But if you're the Crack, and you know
- 11:48Speaker 4: this is going to be a grinding team as we've seen,
- 11:50Speaker 4: and they're gonna have to find start finding ways to
- 11:53Speaker 4: grind the extra point because I mean, you can't go
- 11:57Speaker 4: you know, ten two and ten through your twenty two
- 12:00Speaker 4: games or whatever it is, right, So I like you, yeah,
- 12:04Speaker 4: oh my goodness, that'd be historic, right. But they're playing well,
- 12:07Speaker 4: they're playing well enough to to get points, but I
- 12:10Speaker 4: think they need to find that extra gear to start
- 12:12Speaker 4: getting that extra point.
- 12:14Speaker 5: Yeah. I agree with most of that. I think maybe
- 12:17Speaker 5: where I might part a little bit is for me,
- 12:21Speaker 5: grinding is sometimes getting the full two points and sometimes
- 12:25Speaker 5: it's getting a point. And you know, yes, the team
- 12:28Speaker 5: battled back to get into overtime in the last two
- 12:32Speaker 5: games and they got points, and you know, maybe they
- 12:34Speaker 5: shouldn't have been in that position to begin with, but
- 12:36Speaker 5: the fact that they were able to battle back, like
- 12:38Speaker 5: you said, Everett, last year, this would have been a
- 12:40Speaker 5: different story. So that no quit attitude sometimes can help
- 12:47Speaker 5: them in games where maybe last season they might have
- 12:49Speaker 5: lost it four to one or something like that. So
- 12:52Speaker 5: that battling back gets them points in games where maybe
- 12:55Speaker 5: a year ago they wouldn't have gotten anything. On the
- 12:58Speaker 5: flip side, yeah, they do need to getting some wins,
- 13:01Speaker 5: getting some multi point games. And if they go through
- 13:04Speaker 5: this homestand where a lot of their games are happening
- 13:08Speaker 5: here at Climate plag Arena and they're getting points one
- 13:11Speaker 5: or two in every single game, I think that's a
- 13:14Speaker 5: successful Homestand the only thing that concerns me is when
- 13:19Speaker 5: I look at the goal differential in the Pacific Division
- 13:22Speaker 5: and I see Seattle sitting at dash too. There's a
- 13:26Speaker 5: lot of other dashes in the division, but you look
- 13:28Speaker 5: at Anaheim there plus four, meaning they're scoring more goals
- 13:31Speaker 5: than they're giving up. I'd like to see that number
- 13:34Speaker 5: get into the green for Seattle. So even if they're
- 13:37Speaker 5: going to overtime, they're putting multiple goals up on the
- 13:40Speaker 5: board when they're winning, they're winning in a stately way,
- 13:45Speaker 5: four to one, five to two, something like that. That
- 13:47Speaker 5: tells me that they when they need to, they can
- 13:50Speaker 5: put a lot of pucks into that Right now, that
- 13:52Speaker 5: dash too concerns me a little bit.
- 13:53Speaker 3: And here's I think where the big differences out. Because
- 13:56Speaker 3: you raise a great point about gold differential, I mean
- 13:58Speaker 3: context also matters, and when you think of how many
- 14:01Speaker 3: times a crack can have played in closed games, and
- 14:04Speaker 3: we'll talk about this with Brandon montur in just a
- 14:06Speaker 3: little bit in our one on one conversation, but that
- 14:09Speaker 3: paired with maybe the two clunkers they had for this
- 14:12Speaker 3: season Philadelphia blowout loss, if you want to put it
- 14:16Speaker 3: that way. Washington got away from them as well in
- 14:18Speaker 3: a hurray. So I mean it almost kind of like
- 14:20Speaker 3: it skews the gold differential to give you at least
- 14:24Speaker 3: one glimpse where they're in games. But again, to your point,
- 14:28Speaker 3: when you're playing in tight games, you've got to find
- 14:31Speaker 3: that one last push to get over the edge. And
- 14:33Speaker 3: I just can't help but think couple times puck on
- 14:37Speaker 3: their stick in overtime against the Rangers. You find a
- 14:41Speaker 3: way to connect Bury one pass Igor Schusterkin. That makes
- 14:45Speaker 3: a big, big difference here.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Yeah, and I think too. You know, Alan and I
- 14:50Speaker 4: were talking about this the other day. We're gonna be
- 14:52Speaker 4: coming to a point I think looking back in marsh
- 14:56Speaker 4: and it's gonna be Man. Remember that Montreal game where
- 15:00Speaker 4: Brandon Montour scored two goals and they got a point. Well,
- 15:04Speaker 4: the Kraken just made the playoffs in game eighty and
- 15:09Speaker 4: they got in by three points or whatever it is.
- 15:12Speaker 4: But on the other side of that, you're hoping it's
- 15:14Speaker 4: not going to be the other way where it's like, man,
- 15:16Speaker 4: remember those games when the Kraken had a lead going
- 15:20Speaker 4: into the last five of the third period and they
- 15:22Speaker 4: just couldn't hold on. So you're right, I mean the
- 15:26Speaker 4: goal difference and for the goal differential, I'm with you
- 15:30Speaker 4: on that, but I also have I also feel that
- 15:33Speaker 4: since we knew coming into the season that this was
- 15:36Speaker 4: going to be a defensive minded team. We knew this
- 15:40Speaker 4: team wasn't going to be scoring four or five goals
- 15:44Speaker 4: a night, so they're going to be a lot more
- 15:46Speaker 4: three to two hockey games fourth you know, three to
- 15:49Speaker 4: one games. So I mean, if it was a Dash
- 15:53Speaker 4: ten already, all right, then I'm concerned. But if you're
- 15:57Speaker 4: hovering dash two plus two, I think I'm okay with that,
- 16:01Speaker 4: and I think I'm okay with that.
- 16:03Speaker 5: I just I'm just flipping back through the games so
- 16:05Speaker 5: far this season, and the biggest differential in wins was
- 16:09Speaker 5: the Winnipeg game three to one win and the Anaheim
- 16:12Speaker 5: game three to one win, two goals, I mean, a
- 16:14Speaker 5: two different differential, which, as far as I'm concerned, you know,
- 16:17Speaker 5: three wins the worst scoring hockey you're in that game,
- 16:19Speaker 5: even if you're on the one side of that score.
- 16:21Speaker 5: So you know, no real big decisive wins in terms
- 16:25Speaker 5: of goal scoring. Yes, some decisive wins against some fantastic teams,
- 16:29Speaker 5: including Winnipeg, but I'm still looking for that big you know, again,
- 16:35Speaker 5: if it's a three to nothing, four nothing game, that's fine,
- 16:37Speaker 5: it's still a decisive win. I'm looking to push that
- 16:40Speaker 5: differential a little bit, and I haven't seen it yet.
- 16:42Speaker 3: That Winnipeg game was the largest margin of victory so far.
- 16:45Speaker 3: I mean, I mean because besides that tight all across
- 16:49Speaker 3: the board, the Anaheim game, the Vegas game, Toronto, going
- 16:52Speaker 3: to over time, you beat Edmonton by one goal as well.
- 16:55Speaker 3: So I mean it's almost kind of like what you
- 16:57Speaker 3: went back to Everett. This is kind of like by
- 16:59Speaker 3: design with Lane Lambert and this team, their system, their structure,
- 17:04Speaker 3: and they admit that they're still trying to get a
- 17:06Speaker 3: few things nailed down, but it's a level of comfort
- 17:09Speaker 3: that they had to adhere to to play and also
- 17:13Speaker 3: succeed in tight games. They're going to have these here.
- 17:15Speaker 3: You know throughout the entire season. You'll win some, you
- 17:18Speaker 3: lose some part in the cliche, but they at least
- 17:21Speaker 3: are being competitive and they put themselves in position if
- 17:25Speaker 3: they're not getting a win to at least getting points
- 17:27Speaker 3: off the table.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Right now.
- 17:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, the last thing I'll say about goal differential,
- 17:32Speaker 5: because I don't want to beat it to death, is
- 17:34Speaker 5: Seattle that sees that Chicago Blackhawks next. Yeah, they have
- 17:38Speaker 5: a plus three goal differential. They've got some offensive power
- 17:41Speaker 5: on their team, and you know that's where it can
- 17:44Speaker 5: start to hurt you, where you go up against teams
- 17:46Speaker 5: that are higher in that green number, where you do
- 17:49Speaker 5: need to put pucks in the net to beat them.
- 17:51Speaker 5: You're not going to be able to beat them one
- 17:53Speaker 5: nothing or two nothing. You've got to beat them four
- 17:54Speaker 5: to three. So I'll leave that one there.
- 17:57Speaker 3: Guys, what's our read right now on the special teams
- 18:00Speaker 3: part of this, because, I mean, the penalty kill was
- 18:01Speaker 3: a big hot topic, Lane Lambert suggesting of course that
- 18:05Speaker 3: there are a lot of things that he likes about
- 18:09Speaker 3: its structure that would differentiate from the results with you know,
- 18:13Speaker 3: goals going to the back of their own net. But
- 18:16Speaker 3: yet they come out three for three against the New
- 18:18Speaker 3: York Rangers and then the Power Play as well, one
- 18:21Speaker 3: for two back on Saturdays. So it's so early here,
- 18:26Speaker 3: and yet I think, consider that you haven't plugged in,
- 18:28Speaker 3: you know, personnel like Jared mccam much here on the
- 18:30Speaker 3: power play side of things, and Coppocco just came back.
- 18:33Speaker 3: But what's our read so far through eleven games?
- 18:36Speaker 4: I think now that you've got cock go back, you know,
- 18:39Speaker 4: you're maybe gonna get rykor Evans back. You're hoping later
- 18:42Speaker 4: this month, in the next couple of weeks. You know,
- 18:45Speaker 4: Freddie Gadreau, you're hoping to get him sometime in November
- 18:48Speaker 4: back as well, So you're close to getting your personnel back.
- 18:53Speaker 4: I'm not going to freak out that much yet. Talk
- 18:58Speaker 4: to me in game twenty five. I've game thirty. You know,
- 19:03Speaker 4: it's still very much is a work in progress. And
- 19:05Speaker 4: you know, listening to Ley Lambert's comments before the Rangers game,
- 19:08Speaker 4: he was talking to us and he said that, you know,
- 19:10Speaker 4: I'm gonna sound like a crazy person here, but I
- 19:13Speaker 4: like our structure on the PK. I like the look
- 19:16Speaker 4: of it. I like what we're doing. But it's just
- 19:20Speaker 4: the results aren't there. And and you know, they go
- 19:22Speaker 4: three for three against the Rangers, they go oh for
- 19:25Speaker 4: was it? Oh for two against the Canadians, and and
- 19:28Speaker 4: a lot of those power play goals against they're they're
- 19:32Speaker 4: just quick. You know, it's it's ticktac goal. It's it's
- 19:36Speaker 4: you know, teams don't have the puck on their stick
- 19:38Speaker 4: for more than a fraction of a second. So it's
- 19:40Speaker 4: not like Seattle's getting be clean. They're forcing these teams,
- 19:44Speaker 4: uh to move the puck around and and snap the
- 19:47Speaker 4: puck once they get it. So, I mean, I guess
- 19:50Speaker 4: in that in that area, you're you're you're pressuring the
- 19:55Speaker 4: the opposition, but they're just getting those shots through.
- 19:58Speaker 5: Yeah. I don't think it's a personnel issue at this point,
- 20:00Speaker 5: even though Jared mccannon still needs to come back. Rikor
- 20:03Speaker 5: Evan still needs to come back. Freddie Goodro, as you
- 20:05Speaker 5: said for the penalty kill, I think it's a it's
- 20:08Speaker 5: a structure, and it's not that the structure is bad.
- 20:11Speaker 5: I just think that this team's working on how to
- 20:14Speaker 5: break down opposing team's penalty kills. I think we saw
- 20:17Speaker 5: it last game in the Chandler Stevenson goal. They started
- 20:20Speaker 5: out in a box structure in that power play, then
- 20:22Speaker 5: they broke down to a bad triangle. That's when Stevenson
- 20:27Speaker 5: struck with his shot. I think when when Seattle starts
- 20:31Speaker 5: to recognize how to break opposing team's penalty kills down
- 20:35Speaker 5: and then takes advantage of it by shooting as Everett
- 20:39Speaker 5: and I are constantly point, you know, because you can
- 20:42Speaker 5: see it breaking down very easily from up top obviously,
- 20:45Speaker 5: but when they recognize that and they're putting pucks on net,
- 20:48Speaker 5: and then that chaos ensues after that. Sometimes it's a
- 20:51Speaker 5: it's a straight in goal like the Stevenson goals. Sometimes
- 20:54Speaker 5: it's a deflection a rebound, a secondary opportunity. That's when
- 20:57Speaker 5: you'll see start to see more pucks going in the net.
- 21:00Speaker 3: And see I think also, yeah, go ahead, Everett.
- 21:02Speaker 4: I don't. I don't want to sound like the guy
- 21:04Speaker 4: in the fifth row before cores lights deep, but they
- 21:06Speaker 4: got to shoot the puck more. And I still think that.
- 21:09Speaker 4: And it's again, Al, it's easy for us to say
- 21:12Speaker 4: we're hurt. We're on the fifth floor. From where we sit,
- 21:16Speaker 4: everything slows down.
- 21:17Speaker 3: So even Leila has said overall they have to shoot
- 21:20Speaker 3: the puck more.
- 21:21Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, So if the Cracking power Play is listening,
- 21:24Speaker 4: don't take this personally. I promise. I still think that.
- 21:29Speaker 4: You know, this team on the power play, they're still
- 21:32Speaker 4: waiting for that perfect shot. They're still waiting.
- 21:35Speaker 5: Perfect you know what I mean.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Past you need the shoe first mentality. Lane has said it.
- 21:41Speaker 4: We've had guys on before, they've all set it again,
- 21:45Speaker 4: shoot like yah, shoot the buck.
- 21:48Speaker 5: Yeah. I mean. The structure of a power play is
- 21:51Speaker 5: you're trying to set a shot up. So you're looking
- 21:54Speaker 5: for your words, the perfect shot, but you're trying to
- 21:57Speaker 5: set a certain kind of shot up. We saw in
- 21:59Speaker 5: the Montreal game with the left Cooski goal. That was
- 22:02Speaker 5: a bump play. That's upset play. You're you're looking to
- 22:05Speaker 5: get that set up. You see it with McDavid in
- 22:09Speaker 5: dry Sitle all the time. They have set plays. But
- 22:11Speaker 5: at a certain point, maybe it's the second half of
- 22:13Speaker 5: the power play, forty five seconds left. You just got
- 22:16Speaker 5: to start funneling pucks to the net with traffic in front.
- 22:18Speaker 5: And you know, if you're not getting one to three
- 22:21Speaker 5: good shots on net over a two minute power play,
- 22:24Speaker 5: something's not right.
- 22:26Speaker 4: The fact that we've seen a lot of power plays
- 22:29Speaker 4: with zero to two shots, you know what I mean?
- 22:33Speaker 4: Like that that that can't happen for a power play
- 22:37Speaker 4: that's got shooters on it, Tolvenan and Newman and Schwartz
- 22:42Speaker 4: and Everle and Benears and and you guys on tour
- 22:46Speaker 4: right done, guys that can really shoot the pill. You
- 22:51Speaker 4: cannot have power plays with two or fewer shots over
- 22:55Speaker 4: two minutes.
- 22:55Speaker 3: It makes you wonder how high can the ceiling be
- 22:58Speaker 3: because they're still trying to figure out how to get
- 23:00Speaker 3: more shots on net and still they're twelfth right now
- 23:02Speaker 3: in the NHL. After the game on Saturday against the
- 23:05Speaker 3: New York Rangers. By the way, Vince Dunn, Chandler Stevenson
- 23:08Speaker 3: lead the crack and with three power play points heading
- 23:11Speaker 3: into this next week. All right, big piece of this
- 23:14Speaker 3: power play and also a big welcome edition. We said,
- 23:17Speaker 3: of course it had to be at the right time.
- 23:18Speaker 3: But he's back after an emotional return. Here's our conversation
- 23:22Speaker 3: with defenseman Brandon Montur. To see the hockey world to
- 23:25Speaker 3: gather around you, to see your teammates also surround you.
- 23:28Speaker 3: How much has that meant to you?
- 23:30Speaker 2: It's been a lot.
- 23:30Speaker 7: I think it's just how challenging and how difficult it's
- 23:33Speaker 7: been for myself and my family the last little bit.
- 23:36Speaker 7: You know, it's something that it's tough to process and
- 23:39Speaker 7: doesn't feel real and probably will never feel real or again,
- 23:44Speaker 7: very difficult time. But you know, the team, even players
- 23:48Speaker 7: around the league and noticed obviously mid games even still
- 23:52Speaker 7: even though it's been a couple of weeks or a
- 23:53Speaker 7: week now, but every team that we play, there's been
- 23:56Speaker 7: a number of players during the games, intermiss or warm ups, messages,
- 24:03Speaker 7: just coming through random numbers, getting my number and contact
- 24:06Speaker 7: and appreciating out. And I think, you know, it's as
- 24:09Speaker 7: many people are you know, in this organization or in
- 24:12Speaker 7: this league.
- 24:13Speaker 2: You know, it's a small community and.
- 24:15Speaker 7: Everybody you know cares, you know, for each other, and
- 24:17Speaker 7: I've I've felt that in the last little bit here
- 24:19Speaker 7: and again it's keeping my mind off other things, being
- 24:23Speaker 7: back and playing and you know, being around the guys,
- 24:26Speaker 7: so that that also helps as well.
- 24:28Speaker 8: What are you reminded of as far as how much
- 24:30Speaker 8: you've missed being around these guys and how much they've
- 24:32Speaker 8: they've meant to you as well.
- 24:33Speaker 7: Yeah, and again it's it's early on and you know,
- 24:36Speaker 7: I've I've missed a lot, you know, missed training, can't
- 24:38Speaker 7: miss preseason. I've practiced you know, only a hand not
- 24:42Speaker 7: even a handful of times. So that and then you know,
- 24:46Speaker 7: missing stepping away for.
- 24:47Speaker 2: A week or so. You know, I missed a lot.
- 24:50Speaker 7: But guys have been you know, rallying, you know, behind
- 24:52Speaker 7: each other, you know, like our start. But again, you
- 24:56Speaker 7: know this is you know, this is our LIVELIHO. This
- 24:58Speaker 7: is what you know we do, this is what we
- 25:00Speaker 7: love and everything outside of the game, you know, helps
- 25:04Speaker 7: coming back and you know, being part of that.
- 25:06Speaker 8: Again, people were talking about a lot of question marks
- 25:08Speaker 8: as far as what this team could do early on,
- 25:11Speaker 8: and there were a lot of tough opponents here on
- 25:13Speaker 8: the schedule. But what's your reads so far through eleven
- 25:15Speaker 8: games and how much guys have been really dialed in
- 25:18Speaker 8: here with what Lane Lambert has been trying to preacher
- 25:20Speaker 8: from the from the get going.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Yeah, and we're still working on it.
- 25:24Speaker 7: We're still trying to find, you know, the best solutions
- 25:27Speaker 7: for us to be you know, a really good hockey team.
- 25:29Speaker 7: But I think you know, like you said, we've had
- 25:30Speaker 7: some challenging opponents. We're playing hard, harder to play against.
- 25:35Speaker 7: We're playing you know, competitive teams that you know, we're
- 25:38Speaker 7: tight games. I think we've you know, had points in
- 25:42Speaker 7: eight nine of you know, the eleven, so those games
- 25:46Speaker 7: would go either way. Obviously we'd like to get that
- 25:47Speaker 7: extra one. But you know, I think where competence is
- 25:50Speaker 7: still going, it's still improving. We still have a lot
- 25:52Speaker 7: of work to do, but we're in every game and
- 25:55Speaker 7: that's all you can ask for. And now just kind
- 25:59Speaker 7: of you know, finding the those you know, other positive
- 26:01Speaker 7: like I said, solutions or ways to to keep.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Getting better, and you know we're gonna do that.
- 26:06Speaker 8: A good chunk of these games have gone down to
- 26:09Speaker 8: the one goal variety, even into sudden depth overtime as well.
- 26:12Speaker 8: I mean you've been through this time and time again
- 26:15Speaker 8: into deep playoff runs. What value is out there to
- 26:20Speaker 8: experience a lot of these games as far as the
- 26:22Speaker 8: pathway here for the future.
- 26:23Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean it could get stressful, but I think
- 26:26Speaker 7: you just got to kind of learn to keep playing
- 26:28Speaker 7: your game, playing to your kind of identity, playing the
- 26:31Speaker 7: right way you know your team plays, and staying loose.
- 26:34Speaker 7: I think you know, again I've played in number long
- 26:37Speaker 7: playoff series over times.
- 26:40Speaker 2: You got to play loose.
- 26:41Speaker 7: You can't be you know, thinking about you know, making
- 26:43Speaker 7: a mistake or being scared to make mistakes.
- 26:46Speaker 2: You just kind of kind of.
- 26:46Speaker 7: Play free, to play loose and kind of could let
- 26:49Speaker 7: the confidence come out and try to be that player,
- 26:52Speaker 7: be that you know, line to make that next great play.
- 26:56Speaker 8: Eight points in your first seven games for the season, offensively,
- 27:00Speaker 8: not too shabby.
- 27:01Speaker 2: What's working so far?
- 27:03Speaker 7: You know, just playing simple, just trying to create as
- 27:05Speaker 7: much as I can. I think we're trying to as
- 27:07Speaker 7: a group, learn to create more offense. You know, I
- 27:11Speaker 7: think we struggled to do that, but you get out
- 27:14Speaker 7: there trying to make a difference, and you know, hope
- 27:16Speaker 7: we can keep that going.
- 27:18Speaker 8: We heard a great thing from Lane Lamber the other
- 27:20Speaker 8: night about as far as spending time in the defensive
- 27:22Speaker 8: zone and how much that can maybe even translate to
- 27:25Speaker 8: what you guys want to do offensively, And a conversation
- 27:29Speaker 8: I had with Shane Wright kind of ties into this
- 27:31Speaker 8: as well, where some teams are okay with allowing shots
- 27:34Speaker 8: from the outside and just making sure that the middle
- 27:36Speaker 8: of the ice is clean. But there's other cases here
- 27:38Speaker 8: and this team is one of them where the more
- 27:40Speaker 8: time spent takes away from time getting a bys. So
- 27:44Speaker 8: what's the biggest difference here as far as what this
- 27:46Speaker 8: team wants to do would turn this around and making
- 27:49Speaker 8: sure that they're spending more time with the puck and
- 27:51Speaker 8: getting a buys as well.
- 27:52Speaker 7: Yeah, I think it's one of those things where you
- 27:54Speaker 7: got to trust your systems, and we're doing that, but
- 27:57Speaker 7: kind of being aggressive in a sense of just attacking
- 27:59Speaker 7: the opponent and the ozone, not letting them have much space.
- 28:01Speaker 7: And again the puck back is quickly we can instead
- 28:04Speaker 7: of watching and let them roam around. And again, you
- 28:07Speaker 7: want to stay tight and you want to avoid close
- 28:10Speaker 7: or grade a you know, shots you'd rather you know,
- 28:13Speaker 7: let one out from I guess that you know, deep
- 28:16Speaker 7: or far away, but kind of get into the puck quick.
- 28:19Speaker 7: You obviously don't want to play in the D zone
- 28:20Speaker 7: and you'd rather play possession and carry that puck and
- 28:23Speaker 7: create plays and get out of your D zone quick.
- 28:25Speaker 2: But the more aggressive, the more energy, the more.
- 28:28Speaker 7: Competitiveness we got in the D zone, the quicker we
- 28:31Speaker 7: can get that fucking go offense.
- 28:32Speaker 2: So we're working on it. But I like we're our
- 28:35Speaker 2: defenses right now.
- 28:36Speaker 8: It seems as if that every team, of course, is
- 28:38Speaker 8: different in how you approach them, of course in this league.
- 28:41Speaker 8: But if there's one thing to you maybe take away
- 28:42Speaker 8: from facing a team like the Rangers who have been
- 28:45Speaker 8: so good at just pounding the net over and over
- 28:48Speaker 8: and over, and maybe use that as a blueprint for
- 28:50Speaker 8: a moving ahead, what is it?
- 28:52Speaker 4: Again?
- 28:53Speaker 7: It's every team's different. But again, that team's been together
- 28:56Speaker 7: for a long time. They got a bunch of talent,
- 28:57Speaker 7: you know, as you can see yesterday, they you know,
- 29:01Speaker 7: they moved quick. They compliment each other well, they know
- 29:04Speaker 7: where each.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Other are going to be.
- 29:05Speaker 7: But again that's that's one that you got to be
- 29:07Speaker 7: in their face. You got to be aggressive with their
- 29:08Speaker 7: big guys. And yeah, again, the harder you play against them, you.
- 29:15Speaker 8: Know, you can just.
- 29:15Speaker 7: Kind of control that. And I thought we did a
- 29:18Speaker 7: good job. They got chances, as you know, good players
- 29:21Speaker 7: teams do, but so we maintained it. It was a
- 29:23Speaker 7: good game, low event, but again we got to keep
- 29:26Speaker 7: continuing to grow off that.
- 29:28Speaker 8: The guy that's been playing by your side, Ryan lind Grin.
- 29:30Speaker 8: He spent a ton of time with Adam Fox back
- 29:32Speaker 8: with the New York Rangers previously. How has he helped
- 29:35Speaker 8: make you better?
- 29:36Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been good. It's still early on, but I
- 29:38Speaker 2: think we compment each other. Well. We're both competitive in
- 29:41Speaker 2: the D zone, play aggressive.
- 29:42Speaker 7: He plays physical, I play physical. We talk out there,
- 29:46Speaker 7: but a veteran guy that moves the puck well, is smart,
- 29:49Speaker 7: makes the right play every time and kind of lets
- 29:51Speaker 7: me do my thing, you know after that.
- 29:53Speaker 2: But it's still work in progress.
- 29:57Speaker 7: I like how we started, but you know, the more
- 29:59Speaker 7: times you know, I play them, And again, Adam is also,
- 30:02Speaker 7: you know, a really good player, and you know, I
- 30:04Speaker 7: guess offensively similar in a sense he likes to get
- 30:08Speaker 7: up and down the ice, but obviously a lot of
- 30:09Speaker 7: differences as well.
- 30:12Speaker 2: But I think Ryan, you know, a really good player,
- 30:14Speaker 2: easy to play with. So it's you know, just gonna
- 30:16Speaker 2: keep getting better.
- 30:17Speaker 8: Finally, it's one thing for us to say and for
- 30:19Speaker 8: me to marvel at how just crisp and how intense
- 30:22Speaker 8: the new black Alter new jerseys looked last night and
- 30:24Speaker 8: warm ups and getting on the ice. But to a player,
- 30:27Speaker 8: what did you guys see and what did you guys
- 30:29Speaker 8: like about them?
- 30:29Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 30:29Speaker 7: I think I mean again, the I guess when it's
- 30:34Speaker 7: dark and you know, we don't really notice that much.
- 30:37Speaker 7: You know, the game is a game, you know, playing
- 30:39Speaker 7: with the lights on, so that's a little different. It
- 30:40Speaker 7: might be different for our fans, but I think guys
- 30:42Speaker 7: liked it. It's different, you know it pops uh, you
- 30:46Speaker 7: know it's it's also you know, gonna feel better, look
- 30:48Speaker 7: better when we start to you know, winning a lot
- 30:50Speaker 7: more games in those jerseys.
- 30:52Speaker 8: Got more than coming out here, especially this week here.
- 30:54Speaker 8: Brandon appreciate this. Thank you, thank you, all.
- 30:55Speaker 3: Right, that's crack of defense been Brandon Montor big thanks
- 30:58Speaker 3: for a few moments of his time. When the Krakend
- 31:00Speaker 3: went to an optional practice and an optional skates on Sunday,
- 31:05Speaker 3: I'll just be up front here with this offensively eight
- 31:08Speaker 3: points through seven games. How big has Brandon Montor made
- 31:11Speaker 3: an impact this season so far?
- 31:13Speaker 5: Yeah? Four points since returning from something that I hope
- 31:18Speaker 5: neither of you have to deal with in your life. Like,
- 31:21Speaker 5: it's amazing what he's been able to pull together coming
- 31:24Speaker 5: back from that. And you know, I think any single
- 31:27Speaker 5: guy in that locker room, had he provided no offense
- 31:31Speaker 5: over his first two games back, would say, yeah, I
- 31:33Speaker 5: get it, but we're glad to have him back, and
- 31:35Speaker 5: the fact that he's come back with such fury on
- 31:39Speaker 5: his offense is exciting for what he might be able
- 31:42Speaker 5: to bring for the rest of the season.
- 31:44Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean, I think again, the the the personal
- 31:50Speaker 4: distress and trauma aside that he's had to deal with,
- 31:55Speaker 4: You're really seeing Montur at his most comfortable on the ice.
- 32:02Speaker 4: You know, last season we saw the type of player
- 32:07Speaker 4: that we expected and that we were hoping to get.
- 32:10Speaker 4: But I think now this year, you know, he's more
- 32:14Speaker 4: settled in, he's got a year in Seattle on the belt.
- 32:16Speaker 4: I think he really enjoys like a lot of the
- 32:19Speaker 4: d men I've talked to you in the locker room,
- 32:21Speaker 4: he enjoys the system that's being played and that commitment
- 32:26Speaker 4: that Lane Lambert wants. And he is a guy that
- 32:29Speaker 4: we talk so much about, so many winners and so
- 32:32Speaker 4: many cups in this locker room. He's got a cup,
- 32:34Speaker 4: he's got back to back final appearances. He's played on
- 32:37Speaker 4: some of the best teams in the NHL. He knows
- 32:39Speaker 4: what it takes to win in this game. And now
- 32:41Speaker 4: you're starting to see a lot of that come out
- 32:43Speaker 4: just him talking to two younger players in d Man
- 32:47Speaker 4: at practice to the communication that he has, he keeps
- 32:49Speaker 4: things loose and lights on the bench. I've never seen
- 32:53Speaker 4: this man without a smile. Even again, you come back
- 32:57Speaker 4: from from your your brother passing in a very track
- 33:00Speaker 4: way that first practice, he's he's got a big smile
- 33:03Speaker 4: on his face and and it's like he never left.
- 33:06Speaker 4: So you're really seeing what he can bring. I mean,
- 33:11Speaker 4: he he is. He is a letterman without a letter
- 33:14Speaker 4: and he is a wonderful leader on and off the
- 33:17Speaker 4: eyes for this group.
- 33:19Speaker 5: Yeah, and you heard him say that in that interview too,
- 33:21Speaker 5: that this isn't something that you can just you know,
- 33:24Speaker 5: wipe clean and forget about. He's never forget about it, obviously.
- 33:26Speaker 5: It's it's it's it's marked his life. Yeah, that will
- 33:30Speaker 5: never change. But I think what was also cool to
- 33:32Speaker 5: hear him say is much like we saw in the
- 33:34Speaker 5: Edmonton Edmonton game with pod goals and talking to him,
- 33:37Speaker 5: players continue to come up with up to him during
- 33:39Speaker 5: the media timeouts and say something to him, and you
- 33:42Speaker 5: know it'll probably happen all season long because you realize
- 33:46Speaker 5: that these kinds of things unfortunately impact a lot of people.
- 33:49Speaker 5: And when you recognize somebody else that's going through the
- 33:51Speaker 5: same stuff that you've gone through or you've had to
- 33:54Speaker 5: deal with, you know you want you want to give
- 33:55Speaker 5: him a pound in the back, like that's that's that's
- 33:57Speaker 5: the sportsmanship of the game. That's where that that's where
- 34:00Speaker 5: life is bigger than the game. It was really cool
- 34:02Speaker 5: to hear him talk about that.
- 34:03Speaker 3: It goes to show how much the hockey world is
- 34:06Speaker 3: a small world and how much Brandon Montor is a
- 34:09Speaker 3: big part of everyone. When you're seeing this over and
- 34:12Speaker 3: over and over with players going out of their way
- 34:16Speaker 3: to come and comfort him, to say hello to him
- 34:19Speaker 3: and say basically, we are with you every step of
- 34:22Speaker 3: the way. I also thought, and I couldn't help but
- 34:25Speaker 3: think after the Montreal game, despite the circumstances. It's one
- 34:30Speaker 3: thing when you're a defenseman that has a skill he
- 34:33Speaker 3: possesses to help drive a comeback like that. It's another
- 34:37Speaker 3: when he has equalities effort that you mentioned that are
- 34:40Speaker 3: of the human variety, and three qualities that I really
- 34:43Speaker 3: admire in people like yourself, al and others as well, authenticity, warmth,
- 34:49Speaker 3: and energy. Montor checks off all three boxes. It's one
- 34:53Speaker 3: thing to say that he is helping drive this team offensively.
- 34:57Speaker 3: It's also another when you help ignite a come back
- 35:00Speaker 3: with the player that he is, to say that he
- 35:03Speaker 3: is the heart and soul of this team. He is
- 35:07Speaker 3: helping transform this team right now. And it's crazy because
- 35:11Speaker 3: about a month ago we were thinking eighteen goals last
- 35:15Speaker 3: season for Montour. They're playing in a wide open system,
- 35:19Speaker 3: but how much is that going to change now with
- 35:21Speaker 3: more structure in place, more restrictions. Lane Lambert told us
- 35:26Speaker 3: that he is still open to be the player that
- 35:28Speaker 3: he can be and carry the puck, but also do
- 35:32Speaker 3: it with the reado and react type of mentality, no
- 35:35Speaker 3: one to go, no one to hold back. And it's
- 35:38Speaker 3: crazy because his numbers right now are on pace to
- 35:41Speaker 3: be even better than last season. He looks like he's
- 35:44Speaker 3: gone to a whole new level.
- 35:46Speaker 5: Yeah, and you know, obviously his sample size is a
- 35:49Speaker 5: little smaller having missed some games. But I can't think
- 35:52Speaker 5: of the time either, you know, well, in any of
- 35:56Speaker 5: the games we've seen him play in so far where
- 35:58Speaker 5: him jumping into the playoffense has hurt the krack and
- 36:01Speaker 5: going the other way, he's often one of the first
- 36:04Speaker 5: guys back, if not the first guy back. Like he
- 36:07Speaker 5: gets in, he gets out. So that's the way he
- 36:10Speaker 5: plays his game as well. And I don't know how
- 36:11Speaker 5: much of that is Lane Lambert in his ear or
- 36:14Speaker 5: how much that's just Brandon Montour's game.
- 36:16Speaker 3: We turn our attention now to the Kraken in their
- 36:19Speaker 3: own zone. And this was a conversation last couple of games,
- 36:22Speaker 3: because Lane Lambert has set over and over that he
- 36:25Speaker 3: would like to spend less time in their own zone
- 36:29Speaker 3: because it has to do with their own play. So
- 36:34Speaker 3: I want to kind of approach it as this, what
- 36:37Speaker 3: will the Kraken look like, maybe say four to five
- 36:40Speaker 3: months from now, once they get matters really dialed in.
- 36:43Speaker 3: But I think for me it's pretty important here to consider.
- 36:46Speaker 3: There's almost kind of like two schools of thought. I'm
- 36:48Speaker 3: using this as an example because defensively, there are teams
- 36:53Speaker 3: that will be okay with sitting back and when other
- 36:56Speaker 3: teams fire pucks from the outside, it doesn't matter as
- 37:00Speaker 3: long as you keep the middle of the ice spick
- 37:03Speaker 3: and span and clean no one in there. There are
- 37:07Speaker 3: other teams that say any d zone time is bad.
- 37:11Speaker 3: The zone time now within that spectrum. I had a
- 37:14Speaker 3: good talk with Shane right about this, and he said,
- 37:17Speaker 3: we're not the kind of team that's just gonna sit
- 37:18Speaker 3: back and let you shoot from the outside, because ultimately
- 37:21Speaker 3: we're not a team that is trying to play in
- 37:23Speaker 3: the defensive zone. We want to get out of there.
- 37:26Speaker 3: But the less time that you spend in your defensive
- 37:29Speaker 3: zone gives you more time to use the energy that
- 37:33Speaker 3: you still have on every shift to get up ice
- 37:37Speaker 3: and attack. And that's the endgame here for the system.
- 37:40Speaker 5: Yeah, how many times have we seen teams have to defend,
- 37:43Speaker 5: whether it's the kracking or the kracking on the attack
- 37:46Speaker 5: and another team's in where they had to defend for
- 37:48Speaker 5: forty five seconds and then they change and the cracking
- 37:52Speaker 5: get a fresh set out there as well, but they
- 37:55Speaker 5: can't come down on the attack because the are exhausted,
- 37:57Speaker 5: they have to get off the ice. So that's the
- 37:59Speaker 5: point he's making is that the more on offense you
- 38:02Speaker 5: can be, the less energy they're going to have to
- 38:04Speaker 5: come down and attack you in your own end. So
- 38:06Speaker 5: I like that mentality. The one thing I would say
- 38:09Speaker 5: about shots to the outside is one little asterisk on
- 38:13Speaker 5: that statement, which is, we know Leon Dreiso is going
- 38:16Speaker 5: to a shot from the outside. We know that overtime goal
- 38:19Speaker 5: was a shot from the outside. You got to take
- 38:21Speaker 5: away those cross ice passes. That's the big thing there.
- 38:24Speaker 5: I'm okay with shots from the outside, but they can't
- 38:26Speaker 5: be one timers after scene passes.
- 38:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I was gonna you took the words right out
- 38:32Speaker 4: of my mouth. And I'll even add another one there
- 38:34Speaker 4: as well. For Seattle, I think, you know, you talk
- 38:37Speaker 4: about the fatigue at the end of a shift. There
- 38:40Speaker 4: have been a few zone exits that the kracking have
- 38:43Speaker 4: either not been as sharp on you know, that have
- 38:47Speaker 4: blown up a little bit. And I think it's that
- 38:49Speaker 4: first pass, right, It's that first pass trying to get
- 38:52Speaker 4: out of the zone, you know, And it happens to everyone.
- 38:57Speaker 4: It's not a Seattle issue, but you'll see as fumble passes,
- 39:01Speaker 4: bibble passes, missing passes. How many times have we seen
- 39:04Speaker 4: guys have to reach for a pucket, goes down for
- 39:06Speaker 4: rising and now you're back in your zone. So I
- 39:08Speaker 4: think you know to get that puck back in in
- 39:11Speaker 4: Leay Lambert has said it since his since his his
- 39:14Speaker 4: introducty press conference. You know, if you you want to
- 39:17Speaker 4: be on offense, you got to get the puck and
- 39:20Speaker 4: it starts in your zone. But you need to make
- 39:22Speaker 4: that good first pass, that good first sharp pass out
- 39:25Speaker 4: of your zone. I think sometimes you see the guys
- 39:29Speaker 4: maybe sitting on it a little bit too long. Again,
- 39:31Speaker 4: they're looking up ice a little bit too long, and
- 39:34Speaker 4: we're talking about fractions of a second, blinks of an
- 39:38Speaker 4: eye here. But these are multi million dollar NHL athletes
- 39:42Speaker 4: who are the best at what they do. So you know,
- 39:45Speaker 4: one Mississippi that that that's an hour uh to these guys.
- 39:48Speaker 4: So you need to get the puck up and out,
- 39:52Speaker 4: I think as quick as you can. And I think
- 39:54Speaker 4: that's maybe an area where the Kraken can can work
- 39:58Speaker 4: on a little bit more, that good quick, sharp first pass.
- 40:02Speaker 3: The attention to Coppocaco in his first game back after
- 40:07Speaker 3: being out since preseason. It was a long awaited return.
- 40:10Speaker 3: And you know, do we not call this here on
- 40:13Speaker 3: this show from this last week. Wouldn't it be spicy
- 40:17Speaker 3: if Coppocaco's season debut came against the New York Rangers
- 40:21Speaker 3: and it happened the storyline we all got out.
- 40:24Speaker 4: I think when they said four to six weeks, I
- 40:27Speaker 4: think we all pulled out the schedule and we were
- 40:29Speaker 4: looking down like, yeah, I think eleven one, that's gonna
- 40:35Speaker 4: be the target.
- 40:36Speaker 3: Fourteen minutes in sixteen seconds of ice time, didn't have
- 40:40Speaker 3: anything as far as points in the game, also had
- 40:44Speaker 3: three shot attempts, one shot on net, one hit, one
- 40:47Speaker 3: giveaway as well. And he's playing on that line with
- 40:51Speaker 3: Mason Marchmint and Shane right where you've got two towering
- 40:55Speaker 3: figures flanking Shane right on that line. So how do
- 40:58Speaker 3: we measure Coppocacco after one game versus the expectations and
- 41:03Speaker 3: how long and believe they give this line a run
- 41:05Speaker 3: before a familiar equation comes into play, and that's Coppo
- 41:09Speaker 3: Coco playing with the guy that he's played with for
- 41:11Speaker 3: a long time, and Matty Benier's with a two last
- 41:13Speaker 3: year of points looked inseparable.
- 41:15Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, Mike, I think the answer to that
- 41:17Speaker 5: is you don't. You don't measure him. One game's not enough,
- 41:21Speaker 5: He's he's been out of the lineup long enough where
- 41:23Speaker 5: you've got to give him, you know, at least a
- 41:25Speaker 5: handful of games, two or three games to really start
- 41:28Speaker 5: to assess where he's at, and two or three games
- 41:30Speaker 5: to assess what impact he's having on that line with
- 41:34Speaker 5: marchmen and right, I think that, you know, we'd like
- 41:38Speaker 5: to see more out of that line, specifically as a whole.
- 41:42Speaker 5: So I think putting him on that line is the
- 41:43Speaker 5: right move, but I think it's too early to really
- 41:46Speaker 5: measure and say was it the right move. How's Coco looking?
- 41:49Speaker 5: I think he looked fine for his first game, but
- 41:51Speaker 5: as you said, didn't didn't get on the score sheet,
- 41:54Speaker 5: but didn't really hurt the team either.
- 41:56Speaker 4: I asked him in practice on Sunday after he I said,
- 42:01Speaker 4: how are feeling? He goes, it was a long off.
- 42:03Speaker 4: It was a long time off, and you know, we
- 42:06Speaker 4: talked so much across all sports, and for some reason,
- 42:10Speaker 4: football comes to mind. When you're like, you want to
- 42:13Speaker 4: get out there and hit someone else. You want to
- 42:15Speaker 4: go out there and play against someone else. You can
- 42:17Speaker 4: simulate game speed all you want to in practice, but
- 42:21Speaker 4: until you get out out there, regardless of the injury,
- 42:24Speaker 4: if it's an upper body or a lower body, or
- 42:26Speaker 4: a mid body or a back body, or whatever body
- 42:28Speaker 4: they want to call it, it doesn't matter. I feel
- 42:31Speaker 4: like you're right, he needs a couple of games to
- 42:34Speaker 4: get in there. I thought he looked fine. You know,
- 42:37Speaker 4: conditioning also, right. I mean he's been out since preseason. Now,
- 42:40Speaker 4: obviously Compocco is in the best shape of his life.
- 42:43Speaker 4: But still you're not used to to game speed and
- 42:48Speaker 4: to be thrown in there. You know, your first game
- 42:51Speaker 4: of the season against the team that's in their twelfth right,
- 42:54Speaker 4: it's gonna be a little bit. Uh, you're gonna be
- 42:57Speaker 4: a little bit rusty. But I thought he was fine.
- 42:59Speaker 4: I give him five five games. You know, let's reevaluate
- 43:02Speaker 4: when Seattle gets back from Dallas next week and we'll
- 43:06Speaker 4: see where he is. But I had no issues with
- 43:10Speaker 4: his game. I thought he was still the the Coppocco
- 43:14Speaker 4: going to the dirty areas. He had a couple of
- 43:16Speaker 4: good plays. You saw flashes of of of who he is,
- 43:23Speaker 4: and I think he'll be I think he'll be fine.
- 43:26Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that. You know, conditioning might be something
- 43:29Speaker 5: that has to come back, but what doesn't have to
- 43:31Speaker 5: come back is how he plays his games. You're right
- 43:34Speaker 5: fits behind the net in the offensive zone. I saw
- 43:37Speaker 5: him use his body to protect the puck to get
- 43:40Speaker 5: the fuck in front. And again that that doesn't take
- 43:42Speaker 5: conditioning to do. That's just the way he plays the game.
- 43:44Speaker 5: And you saw that, You're like, yep, that's the Coppo Cocco.
- 43:47Speaker 4: I know.
- 43:48Speaker 5: I like that. So I think we're going to see
- 43:50Speaker 5: more of that over these next four or five games.
- 43:53Speaker 4: Let's talk about it next Monday after Dallas and see
- 43:56Speaker 4: where he's at.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Perfect segue here, because the Krakend have gone now officially
- 44:01Speaker 3: through this first Scotland that we've been talking about for
- 44:03Speaker 3: so long, and they come out of this here with
- 44:06Speaker 3: a pretty admirable record of five two and four, and
- 44:09Speaker 3: now you get a little bit more of a breather
- 44:11Speaker 3: as far as the crack and are facing on paper
- 44:13Speaker 3: versus what they've had in the previous eleven games. Chicago
- 44:17Speaker 3: coming up tonight, San Jose coming up on Wednesday, back
- 44:22Speaker 3: to back at Saint Louis and Dallas. Of course, it's
- 44:27Speaker 3: a hard league to win in. There are hazards involved.
- 44:30Speaker 3: So you have eight points on the table. How do
- 44:32Speaker 3: you measure success with the kind of points that you
- 44:35Speaker 3: want to swipe off here for this week?
- 44:36Speaker 4: Well, I mean the Kracking have got points in nine
- 44:39Speaker 4: of eleven this year. I mean you need points in
- 44:44Speaker 4: three or four, you know. I think we pointed to
- 44:48Speaker 4: this stretch of games Montreal, Chicago, San Jose, Saint Louis, Dallas,
- 44:56Speaker 4: Columbus Winnipeg San Jose. Again, we pointed to that skeet
- 45:02Speaker 4: that stretch of November through Thanksgiving as pretty manageable, not easy.
- 45:08Speaker 4: There are no easy games in this league, but some
- 45:10Speaker 4: manageable games. So I think this week, you know, if
- 45:13Speaker 4: you get if you can, you know, eight points, you
- 45:16Speaker 4: can take six of eight points. Points in three or
- 45:19Speaker 4: four games, two points. And in the games against the West,
- 45:23Speaker 4: you'd love to go in the Saint Louis, a team
- 45:25Speaker 4: that you're probably going to be in the wild card
- 45:28Speaker 4: race with, you'd love to get two points from them.
- 45:31Speaker 4: Early Dallas you got them twice in the span of
- 45:34Speaker 4: six seven days. You'd love to get two points there.
- 45:38Speaker 4: I'm curious what the goaltending situation is going to be
- 45:41Speaker 4: coming in as back as well. But yeah, I think
- 45:44Speaker 4: I think if you can get six of eight points,
- 45:47Speaker 4: five of eight points in three of four, you're that
- 45:50Speaker 4: that's that should be the goal.
- 45:52Speaker 5: When you're looking at Chicago and San Jose in the
- 45:54Speaker 5: standings and you're seeing them below Seattle, that's not how
- 45:57Speaker 5: you prepare for these two teams. You prepare for these
- 46:00Speaker 5: two teams the same way you would prepare if you
- 46:02Speaker 5: were coming back and playing Montreal two more times. Both
- 46:05Speaker 5: these teams are young. Both these teams have lots of
- 46:07Speaker 5: offensive talent, and if you sleep on them, they will
- 46:10Speaker 5: staple you to the wall offensively. So you've got to
- 46:13Speaker 5: prepare like you're getting another two shots at Montreal and
- 46:17Speaker 5: think that this young, fast team is coming to my
- 46:20Speaker 5: building and I've got to drop a game plan to
- 46:23Speaker 5: play with that kind of youth, that kind of talent.
- 46:25Speaker 4: Connor Madard, he's looking good. I mean, he's found it
- 46:29Speaker 4: the last handful of games. Andre Berkowski, he's found it.
- 46:35Speaker 4: This is not an easy team.
- 46:37Speaker 5: Then, don't think for a second. B guy like Burkowski
- 46:39Speaker 5: doesn't want to come in a light up climate. Pledgeria
- 46:41Speaker 5: money on the board.
- 46:42Speaker 3: Do that well, and about your point per game. Frank
- 46:46Speaker 3: Nazar as well. A big piece of their future Badard,
- 46:50Speaker 3: who is looking like that he's he's defined the whole
- 46:54Speaker 3: sophomore slump turning into your three storylines and expectations here
- 46:58Speaker 3: and then San Jose. They put a scare into teams
- 47:02Speaker 3: like New Jersey and Colorado with a young team that
- 47:04Speaker 3: they had. They're still maybe miles away from contention, but
- 47:07Speaker 3: still very very formidable based on Maplan Celebrini, will Smith,
- 47:12Speaker 3: William Ecklund, et cetera. By the way, that San Jose
- 47:16Speaker 3: game second time, the Kraken will be wearing their alternate
- 47:19Speaker 3: jersey guys. To me very quick, that looked intense. It
- 47:24Speaker 3: looked tough. I love the look from Saturday your thoughts
- 47:28Speaker 3: on it clean?
- 47:29Speaker 4: It looked very very clean. I thought that, you know,
- 47:33Speaker 4: the presentation, everything that went into it was great. I
- 47:36Speaker 4: loved watching the guys walk through the tunnel. You know
- 47:39Speaker 4: the video they showed in the back and you're glowing
- 47:42Speaker 4: in the dark coming out into the ring. You know,
- 47:44Speaker 4: kudos to the game press team for all that. The
- 47:47Speaker 4: video looked cool. I think everything that you were looking
- 47:51Speaker 4: for from this jersey, I thought, I felt like you
- 47:53Speaker 4: got it in that game against the Rangers.
- 47:56Speaker 5: There's just something about black jerseys that you know, the scene,
- 48:00Speaker 5: they're they're evil, they're they're they're you know, intimidating, and uh,
- 48:04Speaker 5: I know as a player, you always enjoy getting that
- 48:07Speaker 5: black jersey on because it just feels like you're a
- 48:09Speaker 5: little bigger, you're a little stronger, a little tougher for
- 48:12Speaker 5: that game. So yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing him again.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Done drifting center, playing across bontop.
- 48:26Speaker 4: Right side and pro tit miller Stone by towing a card.
- 48:31Speaker 3: About time to wrap this up here, and we'll jump
- 48:34Speaker 3: into it with our usual three stars and I'll go
- 48:37Speaker 3: ahead and take the lead and begin things here. To
- 48:39Speaker 3: wrap up the show for this week, I'm gonna go
- 48:41Speaker 3: with my third star is Ryan Lindgren. In a week
- 48:45Speaker 3: that had a lot of low event hockey. Listen, Lynn's
- 48:48Speaker 3: not gonna light the score sheet up. That's not his game,
- 48:50Speaker 3: that's not his m O. It's solid ASSAULI stay at
- 48:54Speaker 3: home presence here for a game that he usually plays,
- 48:57Speaker 3: the game against New York Rangers. That was a big,
- 48:59Speaker 3: big for him, a big inspiring game. And Alice, you said,
- 49:03Speaker 3: it's the money on the board type of game nineteen
- 49:06Speaker 3: fifty four time on ice was plus one. Also guess
- 49:10Speaker 3: what one blog shot. We heard also compliments from Brandon
- 49:14Speaker 3: Montour about his game as well, but I thought a
- 49:18Speaker 3: pretty quite a good, you know, low event quiet two
- 49:22Speaker 3: games from him where he's not making many mistakes, but
- 49:25Speaker 3: he's finding ways to keep your team as well in
- 49:27Speaker 3: the mix. Star two for me was Joey Decord and
- 49:30Speaker 3: granted the start of the game against the Rangers maybe
- 49:33Speaker 3: not the best, but as you guys talked about and
- 49:37Speaker 3: we brought it up again on postgame, it seemed as
- 49:39Speaker 3: if the longer this game went on with a tight
- 49:43Speaker 3: type of feel, the better he got. And I even
- 49:46Speaker 3: go back and think despite a first period where he
- 49:50Speaker 3: was just trying to get out of the woods with
- 49:52Speaker 3: just two goals on the board, he made a pretty
- 49:54Speaker 3: impressive save against the Rangers on that first penalty kill
- 49:58Speaker 3: to keep the Kraken in the enjoy the court, eventually
- 50:01Speaker 3: turning in for that game seven or bigger pardon I
- 50:05Speaker 3: should say against the Rangers twenty four saves on twenty
- 50:07Speaker 3: seven shots, and without question for me, first star Brandon Montour,
- 50:11Speaker 3: he may get brought up again with you two guys
- 50:13Speaker 3: here but inspiring hockey based on just the unfortunate circumstances
- 50:19Speaker 3: from losing his brother Cameron, and he has looked better
- 50:22Speaker 3: and better each and every game. He helped well the
- 50:25Speaker 3: cracking back in the Montreal game and delivered a very
- 50:29Speaker 3: very high impact goal to tie things up in period two,
- 50:32Speaker 3: freshot the bench with that trademark blast he's got from
- 50:35Speaker 3: the right circle. Montour's my first star.
- 50:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I think, al Or Mike, you and I on
- 50:40Speaker 4: the same page. It was Lingering for me stood out again,
- 50:46Speaker 4: not factoring on the score sheet, but a lot of
- 50:50Speaker 4: little things that he's done this season and this week,
- 50:54Speaker 4: given the games the Krack and were in, given the
- 50:57Speaker 4: situations that they were in. You know, Lingering for me
- 51:00Speaker 4: is my third star. Joey Decord number two for the
- 51:03Speaker 4: same reasons that you said. I also feel like the
- 51:07Speaker 4: bounce back for Decord in those games were just as
- 51:11Speaker 4: big as as the overall performance. Right, Maybe not the
- 51:14Speaker 4: best start to the Rangers game. Couple of goals he
- 51:17Speaker 4: wants back the Montreal game again, probably wanted a goal
- 51:21Speaker 4: or goal back in that game. But I think for
- 51:23Speaker 4: him to continue to stay in the fight, to dig
- 51:27Speaker 4: in and to drag the Krack in two overtime, getting
- 51:32Speaker 4: points in both those games. I got Joey number two,
- 51:35Speaker 4: and ditto Brandon on tour, I mean number one star.
- 51:39Speaker 4: I think, not only offensively for what he brought, but
- 51:42Speaker 4: also the leadership that we talked so much about over
- 51:46Speaker 4: this last hour and then the new all of that
- 51:49Speaker 4: with a very heavy personal tragedy, you know, weighing on you.
- 51:55Speaker 2: I mean, he.
- 51:56Speaker 4: He's my first, second and third star, and then I'm
- 51:59Speaker 4: gonna bump the other two down to four and five.
- 52:02Speaker 4: But no, those are my those are my three lingering
- 52:07Speaker 4: as well as Decord and Montor.
- 52:09Speaker 5: I'm gonna start with Joey Decord as my third. But
- 52:11Speaker 5: I'm gonna put in brackets after the word to Cord
- 52:13Speaker 5: because I know we have to pick individual people. I'm
- 52:15Speaker 5: gonna put defense because I don't think you have great
- 52:18Speaker 5: goaltenders in this league without great defense. And we saw
- 52:21Speaker 5: this week Vince Dunn blocking a shot right at the
- 52:23Speaker 5: end of the game, and you know, Jamie Alexiak creatively
- 52:27Speaker 5: falling on a puck in a creasey that was probably
- 52:30Speaker 5: going to be shoved in the back of the net
- 52:32Speaker 5: had he not fallen on it properly, and We tried.
- 52:36Speaker 5: We tried to get him to explain that between periods,
- 52:38Speaker 5: but he wasn't going there.
- 52:39Speaker 3: I love this intermission interview where it's just like do more,
- 52:41Speaker 3: say less, do more say less.
- 52:44Speaker 5: Let's just say his forearm landed right on top of
- 52:47Speaker 5: the puck, sweeping in the correct direction out towards the
- 52:51Speaker 5: slot as he should. So yeah, Joey Decord is slash
- 52:54Speaker 5: defense My third star. Second star goes to Channer Stevens,
- 52:58Speaker 5: and I think that, you know, for a team struggling
- 53:00Speaker 5: in the dot right now, he continues to be consistently
- 53:03Speaker 5: the best face off man and we've seen that in
- 53:06Speaker 5: the games this week where he's getting put out in
- 53:08Speaker 5: key situations for key face offs and then obviously first
- 53:12Speaker 5: our band Monteur see above everything you guys said, I
- 53:15Speaker 5: think that he just had a fantastic week and you know,
- 53:18Speaker 5: set the bar pretty high for himself. So I'm looking
- 53:20Speaker 5: forward to seeing what sixty two brings this week.
- 53:23Speaker 3: Again that I'll wrap it up here for this because
- 53:25Speaker 3: we've got about probably a good hour. We got to
- 53:27Speaker 3: find a way to get some sleep, and I know
- 53:29Speaker 3: after the other nights based on the outside the glass
- 53:34Speaker 3: and outside the game, circumstances with baseball. I didn't get
- 53:39Speaker 3: much sleep after Saturday. I got home, pop the DVR on.
- 53:44Speaker 3: I'm going to sleep pretty well here for the saving.
- 53:46Speaker 3: That's the only time I try to bring up baseball
- 53:47Speaker 3: in this conversation.
- 53:48Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, no, you're not. We're not letting you off
- 53:51Speaker 4: the hook.
- 53:52Speaker 3: I came so close, though, I came so close.
- 53:55Speaker 4: Oh my goodness, Mike. First of all, congratulations, thank you.
- 54:00Speaker 4: I know it's been you know, longtime suffering Dodgers have not.
- 54:05Speaker 2: Won Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 54:09Speaker 4: Well yet they have not won a World Series since
- 54:14Speaker 4: the last time they won the World Series. No, I listen,
- 54:18Speaker 4: we gave you so much crap and and you you
- 54:21Speaker 4: take it all in stride. I'm happy that you another
- 54:24Speaker 4: year re upped on the wagon. Uh were you know?
- 54:28Speaker 4: Are we gonna repeat? First repeat since those damn Yankees
- 54:32Speaker 4: in the late nineties? Are we doing it?
- 54:35Speaker 3: I feel pretty good based on the odds. But again,
- 54:38Speaker 3: never tell me the odds. Hey, and I just say,
- 54:40Speaker 3: at least you know what I swear. And I said
- 54:43Speaker 3: this again last night. I back it up. I am
- 54:45Speaker 3: glad we had a game because I guarantee you maybe
- 54:48Speaker 3: at the end of the ninth or at the end
- 54:50Speaker 3: of the tenth, I would have likely passed out. It
- 54:52Speaker 3: was nice to know what happened to You can go
- 54:54Speaker 3: back and watch on DVR later.
- 54:56Speaker 4: Two years ago, Lions Niners in the inn FC Championship game.
- 55:02Speaker 4: We were playing Columbus and the Kraken Jackets game started.
- 55:08Speaker 4: I remember the fourth quarter. I remember that the Lions
- 55:11Speaker 4: were well on their way to you know, wedding down
- 55:15Speaker 4: their leg and they did it. So I was right
- 55:18Speaker 4: there with you. But I will say Bleacher Report way
- 55:22Speaker 4: way way too early twenty six, twenty twenty six prediction
- 55:27Speaker 4: Dodgers Mariners.
- 55:30Speaker 2: Enjoy this one.
- 55:30Speaker 3: And you know what, I got my soft spot for
- 55:32Speaker 3: the MS as well, because hey, I went to games
- 55:35Speaker 3: with my dad and my grandfather at the Kingdome in
- 55:38Speaker 3: the eighties. So indeed, if we get Dodgers Mariners, say,
- 55:41Speaker 3: I'm going to just play the neutral parent.
- 55:43Speaker 4: I just help both teams have fun. What are you men?
- 55:47Speaker 4: You know, listen for you it's hard. Three World Series
- 55:51Speaker 4: championships in six years, that's hard, you know. On the
- 55:54Speaker 4: suffering fan base deserves it more, and it suffered more
- 55:59Speaker 4: over the last fifteen years than the Dodgers. I mean,
- 56:02Speaker 4: you have at least.
- 56:02Speaker 3: Taught me to like dial back on the word torture. Okay,
- 56:05Speaker 3: you at least taught me to dial it back just
- 56:07Speaker 3: a little bit. But you know, I do remember. I
- 56:09Speaker 3: do remember growing up and getting punked by friends who
- 56:12Speaker 3: were Giants fans.
- 56:14Speaker 4: Choke choke, choke choke.
- 56:16Speaker 3: I told my kids, enjoy this window right now, because
- 56:20Speaker 3: I sure as heck am enjoying this window. The Astros scandal,
- 56:25Speaker 3: the ownership to Bocles, seeing my piazza get traded, no regrets,
- 56:31Speaker 3: and I will say even to this point because I
- 56:33Speaker 3: try to look for the good and everything fits for
- 56:35Speaker 3: your sake. I hope one day it is a lion's
- 56:39Speaker 3: getting to enjoy this wedding because there is no feeling
- 56:41Speaker 3: like it period. Same goes from me with the Mariners
- 56:43Speaker 3: and this magical postseason runt.
- 56:45Speaker 4: I can't wait.
- 56:46Speaker 2: I feel like.
- 56:47Speaker 5: All this baseball talk going, but I got sixteen pounds
- 56:50Speaker 5: of pulled pork.
- 56:51Speaker 3: I don't want to I don't want to distract out
- 56:52Speaker 3: from going back here to the kitchen to uh oh,
- 56:55Speaker 3: by the way, the last time we got some pulled pork,
- 56:57Speaker 3: it was marvelous. Friends, Please ask al Kiniski about his
- 56:59Speaker 3: part cute exploit.
- 57:01Speaker 2: Oh phenomenal.
- 57:03Speaker 3: All right, we got a run here big. Thanks again
- 57:05Speaker 3: to Brandon Montur for hanging out with us as well.
- 57:07Speaker 3: Cracking Coming up, facing Chicago, San Jose, Saint Louis, Dallas,
