- 3:55Speaker 5: Now. I think I think the little boy was confused.
- 3:57Speaker 5: I really think for a second he thought or questioned
- 4:02Speaker 5: Steve Harvey, what's his daddy? No way, no, no, no.
- 4:07Speaker 5: I mean he was looking at Steve like and Seeve
- 4:10Speaker 5: had to like reiterate like, naa, I'm just playing, just playing.
- 4:13Speaker 5: Ain't your daddy? He said? But you know you will
- 4:15Speaker 5: live a good life.
- 4:18Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to a couple of interviews and then
- 4:19Speaker 2: we're gonna get in a couple of people business as well.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Appreciate you guys. I can't wait till get the show started.
- 4:24Speaker 6: Yeah, let's get it started.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Man.
- 4:25Speaker 6: First guest, let's let's bring him out.
- 4:28Speaker 9: This is Bob Bush, CEO of with Tumbo Coffee at
- 4:31Speaker 9: the Steve Harvey Golf Classic with the Baller Alert show.
- 4:35Speaker 2: That's going, mister, mister bunch. How you doing, sir?
- 4:38Speaker 9: It's great. It's a wonderful day. I got in very
- 4:40Speaker 9: early this morning. I was in Florida. But uh, you know,
- 4:45Speaker 9: since my golf game isn't as good as my talking.
- 4:49Speaker 2: But you guys, okay, okay, I appreciate that.
- 4:52Speaker 6: T us a little bit about your company, Yes, ma'am.
- 4:55Speaker 9: I started the company about almost four years ago with
- 4:58Speaker 9: the Kembe Mutombo was an NBA Hall of Famer. Of
- 5:01Speaker 9: course we know that global humanitarian. I've known him for
- 5:06Speaker 9: thirty five plus years when he was a freshman, seven footer,
- 5:10Speaker 9: gangly coming in from the Congo going to Georgetown. He
- 5:14Speaker 9: went to school with my little sister and I would
- 5:17Speaker 9: pretend to come visiting her because to make my parents happy.
- 5:19Speaker 9: But you know, back in those days, the Hauwyers were bad,
- 5:23Speaker 9: and so I'm there trying to hang out with the
- 5:25Speaker 9: Kimba and Alonzo Morning and those guys and pretending that
- 5:29Speaker 9: I was there to see my sister. So that's been
- 5:31Speaker 9: a very long relationship there, and we decided that you
- 5:35Speaker 9: wanted to take some of his humanitarian stuff and create
- 5:37Speaker 9: a commercial enterprise that can still give back into the
- 5:41Speaker 9: communities he cares about in Africa, particularly with women farmers
- 5:45Speaker 9: and what coffee, because the story of coffee is very interesting,
- 5:52Speaker 9: you know, I'm sure how many of you guys have
- 5:53Speaker 9: heard about Italian coffee.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I've heard about it, but not too much about that.
- 5:57Speaker 6: I went to Costa Rica and they have their own
- 5:59Speaker 6: coffee and it was pretty delicious. Yeah, that's that's I know,
- 6:02Speaker 6: they make their their on coffee.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:05Speaker 9: So most people don't know that the birthplace of coffee
- 6:09Speaker 9: is Africa. And in Africa it's Ethiopia. And there's a
- 6:14Speaker 9: little port in a place called Yemen, one of the
- 6:16Speaker 9: smallest countries, in one of the poorest countries in the world,
- 6:19Speaker 9: and is a port called the Mocha Port. And the
- 6:22Speaker 9: birthplace of coffee comes from eastern Africa. And yes, it
- 6:25Speaker 9: ended up in Costa Rica and Brazil and all these
- 6:28Speaker 9: other places, but the most of the coffee came out
- 6:32Speaker 9: of Africa and to Kim and I started focusing on
- 6:37Speaker 9: coffee because the country of the Congo used to have
- 6:42Speaker 9: a very vibrant trading of coffee. But you know what happens, right, Oh,
- 6:46Speaker 9: these shenanigans, these political issues, these international trade issues, et cetera.
- 6:50Speaker 9: So he's got a very significant foundation with hospitals and education,
- 6:55Speaker 9: and I said, you know what, let's let's not do AID,
- 6:58Speaker 9: let's do trade that's a way to empower our people
- 7:02Speaker 9: and the continent and your particular people through commerce and
- 7:06Speaker 9: not charity.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Whose idea was the coffee? Like, whose idea was it?
- 7:10Speaker 2: Your idea? Was it his idea? Is he a coffee
- 7:12Speaker 2: drink or are you a coffee drinker?
- 7:13Speaker 9: Well, yes, he's definitely a coffee drinker. Coffee seems random,
- 7:18Speaker 9: Well it's not random. One the Congo drinks grows a
- 7:22Speaker 9: lot of coffee that dies on the venture and dark coffee.
- 7:25Speaker 9: So I chuckle when I say he's a coffee drinker
- 7:29Speaker 9: because he likes the coffee like a lot of kids do, right,
- 7:32Speaker 9: They want the flavor and the sugar. So I said, man,
- 7:36Speaker 9: this isn't coffee. This is a coffee flavored hot beverage.
- 7:41Speaker 9: But if it's a if it's a good coffee, Like
- 7:43Speaker 9: do you put ketchup on a good steak? No, you
- 7:47Speaker 9: put ketchup on a burger. So all these people out
- 7:49Speaker 9: there thinking that they're drinking great coffee.
- 7:53Speaker 5: Yeah, So how should coffee be consumed.
- 7:56Speaker 9: If it's a great coffee, it should be smooth, You
- 7:58Speaker 9: should enjoyed black. But you shouldn't have to mask the
- 8:02Speaker 9: quality of the beans by putting all this flavor and
- 8:04Speaker 9: sugar in it, which is typically what you get from
- 8:07Speaker 9: some other brands out there. By Starbucks, I didn't say that, but.
- 8:11Speaker 6: Perhaps, but a lot of people don't know that coffee
- 8:13Speaker 6: is a fruit.
- 8:14Speaker 5: Yes, and it can be healthy for you. Coffee is
- 8:17Speaker 5: a fruit.
- 8:19Speaker 9: In fact, they call them cherries at the at the
- 8:21Speaker 9: part at the earlier part in their of their life cycle.
- 8:23Speaker 6: So you're educated because it can be healthy for you
- 8:26Speaker 6: without like you said, all.
- 8:27Speaker 9: The edits and you know it's and it's okay to
- 8:30Speaker 9: add a little. So today you guys should definitely try
- 8:32Speaker 9: some and I can bring some out to you. We
- 8:34Speaker 9: least some flavored coffees and some unflavored and so yeah,
- 8:38Speaker 9: you want to have your coffee if you wanted a
- 8:40Speaker 9: little bit of flavoring. We're a little bit of something
- 8:42Speaker 9: in it. But what you don't want is that the
- 8:44Speaker 9: other stuff sort of overpowers, at least for me. But
- 8:47Speaker 9: that's how people like it. I would say, it's it's
- 8:51Speaker 9: certainly better than certain other you know, sodas and some
- 8:54Speaker 9: other things you can do.
- 8:55Speaker 4: Right, you get the.
- 8:56Speaker 9: Caffeine, you get the which is a boost for performance,
- 8:59Speaker 9: and then you can get some different flavors so you know,
- 9:02Speaker 9: we allow our customers to determine how they want to
- 9:04Speaker 9: have it. The best thing for us is it's the cause.
- 9:07Speaker 9: It's great coffee, it's a great cause where you're really
- 9:10Speaker 9: trying to support female farmers in our seven African countries
- 9:16Speaker 9: that we source from. And it's the storytelling because most
- 9:20Speaker 9: people don't understand that Africa is the birthplace of coffee,
- 9:24Speaker 9: and so when it ended up in Brazil and close
- 9:27Speaker 9: to RecA et cetera, that was a couple hundred years
- 9:29Speaker 9: journey before it got to Latin America.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 9:31Speaker 6: So if people want to learn more or want to,
- 9:34Speaker 6: you know, donate to the cause, where can they do so?
- 9:37Speaker 9: So so one of the things that's different about us
- 9:40Speaker 9: than other charities and foundations. We don't need your charity.
- 9:44Speaker 9: We're creating an economically sustainable business model. So they buy it,
- 9:48Speaker 9: You buy it, and you know that what we're doing
- 9:50Speaker 9: with the money is to have social impact. So we
- 9:53Speaker 9: want to make sure that first you've got to love
- 9:55Speaker 9: the coffee, you appreciate the cause, and then we and
- 9:58Speaker 9: our supply chain and value chain make sure that money
- 10:01Speaker 9: gets to where it needs to get.
- 10:02Speaker 6: Where can we purchase it?
- 10:04Speaker 9: You can go to Tumble Coffee dot com coffee, and
- 10:08Speaker 9: the most of our business is corporate, but we're now
- 10:11Speaker 9: starting to do Amazon and the website.
- 10:15Speaker 5: So y'all are getting it out to the people, trying
- 10:17Speaker 5: to get it out to the people. So I want
- 10:18Speaker 5: to switch gears. Now we are here to talk about
- 10:21Speaker 5: golfing as well. How long have you been golfing?
- 10:23Speaker 9: I've been golfing poorly for about forty years.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Golf right now?
- 10:30Speaker 5: So you his friends left, so y'all said he not
- 10:35Speaker 5: not good? So how hard do you think it is
- 10:42Speaker 5: to golf?
- 10:43Speaker 9: You know, as with anything, whether you are working on
- 10:45Speaker 9: your golf game or working in your coffee game, it
- 10:48Speaker 9: takes practice, it takes resiliency, it takes putting the work in.
- 10:53Speaker 9: And I've just had so many other things I've put
- 10:55Speaker 9: the work in. I just haven't put enough work into
- 10:58Speaker 9: my golf game as I have in my other businesses
- 11:01Speaker 9: and in my in my uh coffee game. Which is
- 11:03Speaker 9: why I'm well, I'm talking to you guys and not
- 11:05Speaker 9: on the course.
- 11:06Speaker 2: And we'll continue to keep up the great word with
- 11:09Speaker 2: Tumble Coffee. We appreciate you, mister.
- 11:11Speaker 5: You get back working on your game. We go get
- 11:13Speaker 5: back to talking.
- 11:16Speaker 4: You know.
- 11:16Speaker 9: One of the things we'd love to do for you,
- 11:18Speaker 9: if you like, we could come up with a code. Yes, yes,
- 11:25Speaker 9: is I don't know whether it's a baller load or something.
- 11:28Speaker 9: We could create a coupon code for anybody that follows
- 11:30Speaker 9: your show, and we'll track it and make a donation
- 11:35Speaker 9: to you. If the balloer Alert has a foundation, or
- 11:38Speaker 9: if you guys want to do an affiliate program where
- 11:40Speaker 9: you can make some money from it, we can create
- 11:42Speaker 9: some some income from you through time.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Gentleman that you got to talk to anyway, his name
- 11:47Speaker 2: is Gerard. Yeah, you gotta give us some love advice.
- 11:50Speaker 6: Well, let's start here. May we try the coffee on
- 11:52Speaker 6: on camera, just to make sure.
- 11:54Speaker 1: That go with it.
- 11:56Speaker 9: I love that idea, as long as you promise to
- 11:59Speaker 9: be truthful about like I said, I want honest opinions.
- 12:01Speaker 6: I think we should start there because that's going to
- 12:03Speaker 6: determine whether we want to go forward or Now.
- 12:07Speaker 9: I now know why Octavia is part of this program. Smart,
- 12:11Speaker 9: So if you give me a minute, I'll bring you
- 12:12Speaker 9: some out.
- 12:15Speaker 5: All right, we're still rolling right, so we are we
- 12:17Speaker 5: are alive. He really came back with the coffee.
- 12:20Speaker 9: Yes, of course, that's why we're here to show you
- 12:23Speaker 9: some coffee.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Love tumbo coffee. Now, which ones, which ones?
- 12:26Speaker 5: Which?
- 12:26Speaker 1: Which?
- 12:27Speaker 9: So this is Archie who's supporting us today? This is so,
- 12:30Speaker 9: this is our fan favorite. This is the blueberry cold brew.
- 12:34Speaker 5: I want that. Okay, let's get it started. This is
- 12:40Speaker 5: called blueberry.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Okay, that's good for me.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay.
- 12:49Speaker 5: Sice coffee.
- 12:51Speaker 6: I can smell it actually from smell the blueberry too.
- 12:56Speaker 6: That does smell good.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Wow, this is good. This is good.
- 13:00Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 13:01Speaker 9: Now, are you a regular coffee drinker or are occasional?
- 13:05Speaker 2: But my wife is this is a duty coffee drink.
- 13:07Speaker 6: I am a coffee drink.
- 13:08Speaker 5: I'm a coffee drinker as well. This is really good.
- 13:10Speaker 9: Oh, thank you appreciate that very good.
- 13:13Speaker 6: Is this good heated too? Or can it just be cold?
- 13:16Speaker 9: So we have coffee that's that's done with the hot brew.
- 13:21Speaker 9: That's so the reason why this is a bit smooth
- 13:24Speaker 9: and it's a little bit of a different taste profile
- 13:26Speaker 9: because it's truly an iced coffee because it's on ice.
- 13:29Speaker 9: But the brewing is done through a cold brewing process,
- 13:32Speaker 9: so the beans are not heated in the same way.
- 13:34Speaker 9: Which means the chemical process is different. It tends to
- 13:37Speaker 9: be smoother. The flavor is a little bit more intense
- 13:41Speaker 9: than you would normally get.
- 13:44Speaker 6: I would I would buy that blueberry.
- 13:45Speaker 2: That's good, all right.
- 13:50Speaker 5: And he did not pay us for this ad just
- 13:52Speaker 5: to let you say it's good.
- 13:55Speaker 9: But we will make sure that your office gets some
- 13:58Speaker 9: after the show.
- 13:58Speaker 2: I say, let's say, let's okay, okay, and which one
- 14:06Speaker 2: is this one? Mocha, mocha, mocha, I.
- 14:08Speaker 5: Love me somemocha.
- 14:11Speaker 6: Cold brew?
- 14:16Speaker 9: What you think? Bt?
- 14:17Speaker 1: Damn?
- 14:17Speaker 4: This is good?
- 14:19Speaker 9: Like the blueberry better, blueberries better. I like the mocha better. Actually,
- 14:23Speaker 9: oh we got we gotta vote from Ferrari for the
- 14:25Speaker 9: for the mocha being a little bit better than the blueberry.
- 14:27Speaker 9: What about you, Octavia.
- 14:29Speaker 6: I would have to say the blueberry is a little
- 14:31Speaker 6: bit more tasty.
- 14:31Speaker 9: Yea, all right, So we got two for the blueberry,
- 14:34Speaker 9: one for the mocha.
- 14:34Speaker 5: I picked back up my blueberry.
- 14:36Speaker 9: There you go.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Like the mocha.
- 14:39Speaker 5: That's good because he's not even a coffee drinking right.
- 14:42Speaker 6: And the blueberry is not overbearing. It's not like it
- 14:45Speaker 6: doesn't take over there. It's just.
- 14:49Speaker 5: It's like like blueberry, but you can still taste it
- 14:52Speaker 5: as like good rich coffee.
- 14:54Speaker 9: Right and there what it was we were it was
- 14:57Speaker 9: very important that I said, they didn't have this artificial
- 14:59Speaker 9: taste to it.
- 15:00Speaker 4: I like that.
- 15:01Speaker 9: Yeah, I like that very good. So we got vanilla.
- 15:04Speaker 9: We also have hazel nut, and we can do depending
- 15:10Speaker 9: on the size of the client, we can actually do
- 15:12Speaker 9: custom blends and things, you know, tastings with the company
- 15:15Speaker 9: and they go, you know, we'll create a special blend
- 15:17Speaker 9: for them or for the celebrity so that the flavor
- 15:20Speaker 9: profile sort of fits when they want.
- 15:24Speaker 5: I know, a lot of rich people buy y'all coffee.
- 15:27Speaker 9: Hey, well we need we need to get it out
- 15:29Speaker 9: where we can.
- 15:30Speaker 6: Yeah, listen, with this being said, I you know, I
- 15:33Speaker 6: recommend people check out my Tumbo coffee, my tumble dot com,
- 15:37Speaker 6: tumble Coffee dot com.
- 15:39Speaker 9: Dot m U t O m b O coffee dot com. No, no,
- 15:44Speaker 9: no bad coffee in my house, right, No, no bad coffee.
- 15:50Speaker 6: Much for letting us taste tests, and we look forward
- 15:54Speaker 6: to the partnership because this has been approved.
- 15:58Speaker 9: Thank you, thank you, thank you. Ball Alert.
- 16:00Speaker 5: This is a blueberry moment.
- 16:01Speaker 11: We'll be right back with more of the Baller Alert Show.
- 16:07Speaker 11: You're listening to a special edition of The Baller Alert Show.
- 16:10Speaker 4: What's up? What's up? Vince Carter? Here, I'm chilling on
- 16:13Speaker 4: the Baller Alert Show.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Man the Man, the myth, the legend, the lesson.
- 16:17Speaker 5: Vince Carter, He's here.
- 16:19Speaker 2: How's gone?
- 16:19Speaker 4: I'm good?
- 16:20Speaker 2: Now, you're a good golfer, sir.
- 16:22Speaker 4: I enjoy it. I played? Yeah?
- 16:24Speaker 2: Was that a yes or no?
- 16:25Speaker 4: Yes?
- 16:26Speaker 5: It was like, we know you do that basketball?
- 16:28Speaker 2: Was I saw you turned in your card?
- 16:29Speaker 4: We shot fifteen hundred today?
- 16:31Speaker 2: Wow, I'm hearing the more negative the better correct. Okay.
- 16:37Speaker 4: So I started in ninety eight, so that's when I
- 16:39Speaker 4: came out and I kind of caught the bug, meaning
- 16:42Speaker 4: the addiction twenty ten eleven somewhere in there. And since
- 16:48Speaker 4: I've retired, that's kind of been my sport. That's kind
- 16:50Speaker 4: of been my competition. So so playing twenty two years
- 16:55Speaker 4: and abruptly stopping, you know, I stopped doing COVID. I
- 16:58Speaker 4: had to find a competition. You know, you just don't
- 17:00Speaker 4: turn that off. Do something for so long, you just
- 17:02Speaker 4: can't turn it off. So that was one of my things.
- 17:05Speaker 4: When I was retiring, I was kind of concerned about
- 17:08Speaker 4: not being miserable because that fit fed my competitive spirit.
- 17:13Speaker 4: That's what I'm routine based. So I like to be routine.
- 17:17Speaker 4: I did the same thing or pretty much the same
- 17:19Speaker 4: thing for twenty two straight years, and now to turn
- 17:21Speaker 4: it off, and just like all right, here I am world.
- 17:24Speaker 4: So I was always playing golf, and and I kind
- 17:26Speaker 4: of dove in a little more, dove in a little
- 17:28Speaker 4: more to where I got myself to a single digit
- 17:31Speaker 4: just because I enjoy the sport and I enjoy the
- 17:34Speaker 4: competition because I don't know if you guys play golf
- 17:37Speaker 4: like that, but you can have a great day one day,
- 17:38Speaker 4: or a great shot one hole or a great shot,
- 17:41Speaker 4: and your next shot can be disaster. And that's the
- 17:44Speaker 4: competition of it, the focus, the mental focus of it,
- 17:46Speaker 4: which I enjoy.
- 17:47Speaker 6: Did somebody put you onto it?
- 17:49Speaker 4: Dean Smith, my college coach, is the one University of
- 17:52Speaker 4: North Carolina or North Carolina? He told Antoine Jamie said,
- 17:54Speaker 4: and I she said, hey, you guys should start this
- 17:57Speaker 4: sport because business, deals, opportunity, there's a lot of great
- 18:02Speaker 4: things that comes with golf.
- 18:03Speaker 2: I was like, cool, how many how many deals category
- 18:07Speaker 2: you run out?
- 18:09Speaker 4: I just say, a bunch of opportunity? Playing golf, meeting
- 18:13Speaker 4: Steve Harvey, Steve Harvey on the golf course, through golf.
- 18:17Speaker 5: Yeah, and that's understand here too. Like a lot of
- 18:19Speaker 5: the a lot of people we've been interviewing today has
- 18:22Speaker 5: been talking about the opportunities and the deals that come.
- 18:24Speaker 4: Most of the people I know are from golf courses, wow,
- 18:28Speaker 4: or playing golf, or we had the conversation like, oh
- 18:30Speaker 4: you golf, Yeah? Where Oh should be playing Florida? Oh,
- 18:33Speaker 4: let me when I come there, I'm gonna hit you up.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Question.
- 18:35Speaker 4: I do see nothing else.
- 18:37Speaker 2: I do see a lot of NBA players that past
- 18:39Speaker 2: and present, they go straight to the golf course outside
- 18:42Speaker 2: of any other side extra sport.
- 18:45Speaker 4: So I didn't get a chance to play during Coke
- 18:46Speaker 4: in the bubble with those guys. But I was already
- 18:48Speaker 4: playing but hearing Like Jason Tatum, he's the guy that
- 18:51Speaker 4: picked it up and now plays a lot. There's a
- 18:53Speaker 4: lot of guys that play. I mean, it's just it's competitive,
- 18:56Speaker 4: and it just depends on the person. Like some people
- 18:58Speaker 4: go out there and play like I don't understand how,
- 19:00Speaker 4: or some people just go out there and play it
- 19:01Speaker 4: for the joy of being outside. I don't play this
- 19:04Speaker 4: for for the joy being outside.
- 19:06Speaker 2: You other NBA players because of the competitiveness of the.
- 19:13Speaker 1: If you got it, you got it.
- 19:14Speaker 4: If you love you love it. But there's people who
- 19:16Speaker 4: try it because of I'm just gonna see what what
- 19:19Speaker 4: it was about. And then those guys who once you
- 19:21Speaker 4: get kind of caught up, like, Okay, I want to
- 19:24Speaker 4: get good at it. And I'm gonna use Charles Barkley
- 19:27Speaker 4: for example. Charles bark who's good. He had you know,
- 19:29Speaker 4: we know the infamous yips and just and he was
- 19:32Speaker 4: on my team today.
- 19:33Speaker 1: And how do.
- 19:36Speaker 4: I mean he's he's a single digit as well now
- 19:38Speaker 4: just from working at it because he's a competitor and
- 19:41Speaker 4: every shot he hit bad. I mean, I'm surprised everybody
- 19:43Speaker 4: didn't hear him yelling. And that's just the competition and
- 19:47Speaker 4: the competitive side. So I also play in the tournament
- 19:50Speaker 4: in Lake Tahoe all athletes, so you played player, Remember
- 19:53Speaker 4: Steph Curry hit the whole on one yo anymore? So
- 19:56Speaker 4: a lot of US athletes go out there. That's like,
- 19:58Speaker 4: that is our tour championship like the pros, and to
- 20:01Speaker 4: play against each other in competition, and that's that's like
- 20:04Speaker 4: I mean when I tell you guys talking jump to
- 20:07Speaker 4: each other and really competitive outside of their own sport.
- 20:12Speaker 4: That's the tournament to see it, and it's just it's
- 20:14Speaker 4: a great feeling. Like we're not professional golfers, but this
- 20:18Speaker 4: is our passion, our our joy, our hobby outside of
- 20:22Speaker 4: what we do. And it's crazy to see, like how
- 20:25Speaker 4: competitive dudes are.
- 20:26Speaker 6: Man, have you ever wanted to put on your own tournament?
- 20:29Speaker 4: I have. I used to put on a tournament years ago,
- 20:31Speaker 4: and I'm thinking about bringing it back. But yeah, I'm
- 20:33Speaker 4: bringing it back and bring us back with absolutely man,
- 20:36Speaker 4: for sure. I mean that'd be great because I enjoy
- 20:39Speaker 4: I enjoy what golf tournaments do for people, bringing people together.
- 20:44Speaker 4: I've never been around y'all. I know who you are.
- 20:46Speaker 4: You guys know how we've never had the opportunity, but
- 20:48Speaker 4: the Steve Harvey Charity. You know what I'm saying. And
- 20:52Speaker 4: it's not through social media. It's through in person, in person.
- 20:55Speaker 4: But you don't we don't you know? I mean it is.
- 20:57Speaker 4: I came in into in the game when there was
- 21:00Speaker 4: no social media. So you meet the person, you hear
- 21:03Speaker 4: a person by word of mouth or when you actually
- 21:06Speaker 4: run into somebody. Now it's just a little different. So
- 21:09Speaker 4: the personal, the up closer person like that to people
- 21:12Speaker 4: like I try to support people all the time my foundation.
- 21:15Speaker 4: I have people who support me, but I enjoy being
- 21:17Speaker 4: here because I love what where the heart is and
- 21:21Speaker 4: what they're trying to accomplish.
- 21:22Speaker 2: I'll ask your questions now. I know we're talking about golf,
- 21:25Speaker 2: but I have to ask you this. I was in
- 21:28Speaker 2: eleventh grade. You did that slim dunk contest, and to me,
- 21:32Speaker 2: that was the greatest. That was the greatest slam dunk
- 21:35Speaker 2: contest I've ever seen of all time. Appreciate you for that.
- 21:38Speaker 2: I appreciate those two years in Atlanta, right even though
- 21:42Speaker 2: we got you at the end. It's okay. Do you
- 21:44Speaker 2: think the NBA should stop the NBA Slam Dunk Contest
- 21:47Speaker 2: because I'm getting frustrated.
- 21:48Speaker 4: I don't. I just I don't, and I understand the
- 21:52Speaker 4: frustration of it. I just want, because you know that
- 21:54Speaker 4: you're the bar that people are correct, and I'm going
- 21:57Speaker 4: to say I don't. I just want guys who enter
- 22:00Speaker 4: the contest to take it seriously. My approach to the
- 22:03Speaker 4: dunk contest at that time was like it was a
- 22:06Speaker 4: game day. I got my nap, like it was a
- 22:09Speaker 4: game day, I was focused, and I mean I was
- 22:12Speaker 4: still trying to get my cousin t Mac back out
- 22:16Speaker 4: because he didn't want to do it. But that, I mean,
- 22:18Speaker 4: this is something I always wanted to do. I wanted
- 22:21Speaker 4: to give the folks a show. And what you did.
- 22:24Speaker 4: You know, this is something I enjoyed to do, and
- 22:25Speaker 4: that's why you got the best version of me because
- 22:28Speaker 4: of it. And I just think today and this is
- 22:30Speaker 4: my opinion, and I know people don't have it whatever,
- 22:33Speaker 4: that's fine, but in my opinion, I just think guys
- 22:35Speaker 4: coming there and it's like, yeah, I'm here, I know
- 22:38Speaker 4: I'm athletic, I'm gonna go out there, but they don't
- 22:40Speaker 4: really put their heart in their approach. It's not like
- 22:42Speaker 4: a game day.
- 22:42Speaker 5: But it doesn't seem like they taking it serious, seem
- 22:44Speaker 5: like it seemed like it's like an outfit contest like point.
- 22:48Speaker 4: It's not like it's not like the approach of a
- 22:50Speaker 4: game day game day when you know you got to play.
- 22:52Speaker 4: You're coming out to the play your best, the best
- 22:53Speaker 4: you put on the show for the fans on a
- 22:55Speaker 4: game day. So I'd like to see guys take that approach.
- 23:00Speaker 4: I think you will see a better version of going
- 23:01Speaker 4: to come back. I mean it just you just gotta
- 23:05Speaker 4: get I mean it's hard to say. I like to
- 23:09Speaker 4: see them up the Anne and money and maybe that
- 23:11Speaker 4: that means nothing to him because of the contracts that
- 23:14Speaker 4: guys are making right now. So you know, it just
- 23:16Speaker 4: I don't know what what how you can do it.
- 23:19Speaker 4: It's just we have It's the mentality shift that has
- 23:22Speaker 4: to be, you know, for the brand, for you know there.
- 23:28Speaker 5: Get it out.
- 23:29Speaker 4: I just think guys are afraid of the negative feedback
- 23:34Speaker 4: if they don't win. Okay, but let me ask you
- 23:38Speaker 4: a question. Did you guys watch Zach Lavine and Aaron
- 23:41Speaker 4: Gordon when they went to add it?
- 23:43Speaker 2: Yeah, that was great.
- 23:44Speaker 4: That think Aaron Gordon got negative feedback?
- 23:47Speaker 2: He didn't.
- 23:47Speaker 4: He put on a damn good show on The Gray Show.
- 23:49Speaker 4: And that's my point, corect You're talking about crazy and
- 23:54Speaker 4: this is the guy who didn't win. This is the
- 23:56Speaker 4: guy who didn't win.
- 23:57Speaker 2: He didn't win.
- 23:58Speaker 4: But it's not negative.
- 23:59Speaker 5: But I think that's not winning.
- 24:01Speaker 4: That's fine. But if you go out there and put
- 24:02Speaker 4: on the show, you like, he didn't entertained that.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I was in a team.
- 24:08Speaker 4: But what I'm saying I have been saying, but it built,
- 24:12Speaker 4: it built. It didn't just build Zach Lavine the Winners brand.
- 24:15Speaker 4: It also did for Aaron Gordon because the conversation was, dang,
- 24:18Speaker 4: he probably should have won the second time because he
- 24:21Speaker 4: put on a good show, and that's what people want. Like,
- 24:23Speaker 4: that's why you said, you're you're asking that because you
- 24:25Speaker 4: want to see a good show.
- 24:26Speaker 2: I want to see what you did.
- 24:30Speaker 6: That's an of an interesting show. Real quick, What do
- 24:31Speaker 6: you think about the women's Game?
- 24:33Speaker 1: Now?
- 24:33Speaker 4: I love it? I love it. So shout out to
- 24:35Speaker 4: Keisha Sales.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Uh.
- 24:36Speaker 4: She used to play in the w n B A.
- 24:38Speaker 4: She's now a coach at University of Georgia. So she
- 24:41Speaker 4: played for the Orlando Miracle when they had a team,
- 24:43Speaker 4: they folded moved to uh, Connecticut so which became the
- 24:47Speaker 4: Connecticut Son So I've always followed them and that was
- 24:49Speaker 4: my workout partner. Wow, Okay, that's why I worked out
- 24:52Speaker 4: when the summer when everybody was going to play, I
- 24:55Speaker 4: worked at her. She got hard and they I hated
- 24:59Speaker 4: working women because they played They played the game differently,
- 25:02Speaker 4: but at the same time, they're physically tough and that's
- 25:04Speaker 4: how they that's how their approach is to the game.
- 25:07Speaker 4: So I love it. I love the product. You know,
- 25:09Speaker 4: you hear people say, oh, it's boring and not seeing this,
- 25:11Speaker 4: but continue to watch, continue to watch this game because
- 25:14Speaker 4: you're now seeing more athleticism. Did y'all see the video
- 25:17Speaker 4: of the girl, the white girl throws the girl the
- 25:19Speaker 4: lob and the girl catched it? Dumbk this is what
- 25:21Speaker 4: we're about to see. Yeah, we're about to see. We're
- 25:23Speaker 4: seeing athleticism. We're seeing more, we're seeing different handles. You're
- 25:25Speaker 4: seeing guys, well girls with the ability and the flair
- 25:30Speaker 4: and the playing style like the NBA players.
- 25:33Speaker 5: And we're getting generational talent too. Like I know a
- 25:36Speaker 5: lot of people being hey, you know Kaylin, But you know,
- 25:39Speaker 5: I love the way she's bringing excitement back to the game.
- 25:42Speaker 5: Do you think that uh, ladies in a w NBA
- 25:45Speaker 5: are targeting her because of the attention she's getting.
- 25:49Speaker 4: This is this is what happens to a rookie. Yeah,
- 25:52Speaker 4: this is what happens to a rookie. This is what
- 25:54Speaker 4: happens to the marquee player. Angel rees, that's what she said,
- 25:59Speaker 4: as my angel, Angel ree the same thing. I guarantee
- 26:02Speaker 4: there's more girls like those are the those are the
- 26:04Speaker 4: marquee girls what we see. But we've all been through it.
- 26:09Speaker 4: We all been through it, man, I know, but that's
- 26:15Speaker 4: just what it is like. You got to earn your strike, Yes,
- 26:17Speaker 4: you got to earn your stripes. And remember this, I
- 26:19Speaker 4: say this all the time. You this is not the
- 26:22Speaker 4: I mean and I say this understanding, n I L
- 26:25Speaker 4: is what it is. Right. But when you go to
- 26:28Speaker 4: a professional world and you're in competition against other professionals
- 26:32Speaker 4: who are trying to feed their family, mortgages.
- 26:35Speaker 6: Give you the business every time.
- 26:37Speaker 5: Family ain't not about to let you look You're not
- 26:39Speaker 5: about to look good.
- 26:40Speaker 4: Well, guess what I need to make my name. I
- 26:41Speaker 4: need to do my thing against you because I particularly
- 26:44Speaker 4: in the.
- 26:44Speaker 6: W n b A because their their salary isn't very much.
- 26:47Speaker 4: And I mean the the what's the other girl? Caitlyn's
- 26:51Speaker 4: teammate for the Aces. There were five games in and
- 26:54Speaker 4: that's when she found out she made the team. Wow,
- 26:58Speaker 4: that's crazy. You see what I'm saying. So to me
- 27:01Speaker 4: and like I said, people may disagree with it. The
- 27:03Speaker 4: WNBA is one of the harder professional teams to make.
- 27:07Speaker 4: Less teams, Yeah, not many spots and then I mean
- 27:11Speaker 4: we're seeing first round picks not make it, which is
- 27:15Speaker 4: insane to me.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right. The girl friend the
- 27:17Speaker 2: aces got cut, you know, yeah yeah, five she got cut,
- 27:21Speaker 2: yeah yea, yeah yeah.
- 27:21Speaker 5: I mean I'm seeing that they're not getting offered contracts
- 27:24Speaker 5: upon arrival because it's only twelve teams right now, gotcha,
- 27:29Speaker 5: fifteen positions for twelve teams.
- 27:32Speaker 4: Y'all do the math and tell me how hard that
- 27:34Speaker 4: would be. Mind you, it's four hundred and let's just
- 27:37Speaker 4: say sixty positions in the NBA.
- 27:41Speaker 1: That's it.
- 27:43Speaker 4: So you know, we always talking about appreciated this dude. Sorry,
- 27:46Speaker 4: this dude, this he's part of four hundred and sixty
- 27:49Speaker 4: people in the world and he would kick your in
- 27:51Speaker 4: La fitness wherever you know, take us. This This is
- 27:54Speaker 4: me sitting back at home, and it's not like it's
- 27:57Speaker 4: not like going at people. It's just I just want
- 27:59Speaker 4: people to think about what they're saying. Sometimes there's only
- 28:01Speaker 4: four hundred and sixty spots. So if you still see
- 28:04Speaker 4: that that dude or you feel like this dude sucks
- 28:06Speaker 4: and he's terrible, like you said, when you have to
- 28:09Speaker 4: line up with it, you don't see different. I mean
- 28:13Speaker 4: against the best player for every team or the best five.
- 28:16Speaker 4: So he maybe there's like eight nine players better than
- 28:19Speaker 4: him on that team. But guess who he plays against
- 28:21Speaker 4: every day.
- 28:21Speaker 2: The top players in the wyrie every day and.
- 28:25Speaker 4: Get a chance of players, you know. So that's what
- 28:27Speaker 4: I'm saying. So like that's why them girls in the
- 28:28Speaker 4: w But it goes hungry. Yes, those girls are hungry.
- 28:31Speaker 4: And I learned I'm gonna tell you, I learned the
- 28:33Speaker 4: same thing. I play with Trey Young. He learned the
- 28:35Speaker 4: same way he was the marquet player. Gods were going
- 28:38Speaker 4: after him too, knocking him around. That's his boy, knocking
- 28:40Speaker 4: him around. You know what I'm saying. But my only,
- 28:43Speaker 4: my only beef, only beef with it is that's your teammate.
- 28:49Speaker 4: And Matt Barnes said it best. At no point have
- 28:53Speaker 4: we seen girls run over there, get up in another
- 28:55Speaker 4: another player, female's face, say oh, push the player. Sometime
- 28:58Speaker 4: get a technical for on her behalf teammates back.
- 29:02Speaker 5: That happens in college. But it is a seem like
- 29:03Speaker 5: the w n b A is having a lot of these.
- 29:07Speaker 5: I think we'll start seeing.
- 29:08Speaker 4: Oh yeah, But I'm just just wanting people to understand man,
- 29:10Speaker 4: like this is a business man. Everybody trying to eat
- 29:12Speaker 4: man and it's not I mean, it's it's it's aggressive,
- 29:15Speaker 4: Like that's just what how sports are. It's like you're
- 29:19Speaker 4: just now starting to pay attention to this game. But
- 29:22Speaker 4: like I said, I hated playing against the when I
- 29:25Speaker 4: was in college. I hated playing against the girl. I'm
- 29:28Speaker 4: playing when in the post and big girl boom bowed
- 29:30Speaker 4: me in my mouth, bus my lit.
- 29:31Speaker 6: I'm like, man, what like this don't happen in the men.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Because they play play physical. They just have to play
- 29:35Speaker 4: below the rim is physical. But now we're starting to
- 29:39Speaker 4: pay attention to it, and we're saying like, wait, no
- 29:41Speaker 4: you can't.
- 29:41Speaker 5: Because of all the attention that women's basketball is getting.
- 29:44Speaker 5: Now now we're seeing in the NBA all the time. Yeah,
- 29:47Speaker 5: speaking to the NBC guys fighting the NBA speaking of it.
- 29:50Speaker 4: We start to see it in the w A. What's
- 29:51Speaker 4: wrong with it? That's that's that's that's competitive spirit.
- 29:55Speaker 1: I love it.
- 29:56Speaker 4: I love it when you go over a board, you
- 29:57Speaker 4: do some stuff that's not uncofed for cool.
- 29:59Speaker 6: But we see that all the Back in the day,
- 30:01Speaker 6: it was way worse.
- 30:02Speaker 4: Well before we tell you to play on.
- 30:04Speaker 5: Okay, they was hand checking back in the day.
- 30:08Speaker 2: All right, hey, before you go, who you got winning
- 30:10Speaker 2: the NBA Finals? The maps of the Boston Celtics.
- 30:13Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, I don't know.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Come on now, and in how many games.
- 30:16Speaker 4: It's I think, I think and I pray for a
- 30:20Speaker 4: six game series. I think Boston has the better team. Okay,
- 30:25Speaker 4: I really do.
- 30:26Speaker 8: Uh.
- 30:27Speaker 4: I think what Kyrie and and uh Luca are doing fantastic.
- 30:32Speaker 4: My only question and they're hot, they're playing on the
- 30:35Speaker 4: high right now. My only question is who is going
- 30:41Speaker 4: to be that third guy to help them? Because let's think,
- 30:44Speaker 4: let's think about.
- 30:44Speaker 5: What he he He don't have to he's been he's
- 30:50Speaker 5: been helping him a lot with the threes by spacing
- 30:53Speaker 5: out the been having bad games again.
- 30:55Speaker 4: Wait wait, wait, sit again. No, no I'm saying, I'm
- 30:57Speaker 4: just I'm just this is me talking as a bat.
- 31:00Speaker 5: And I feel like he's been spacing out the floor.
- 31:02Speaker 5: He's been able to, you know, get open shots, which
- 31:04Speaker 5: is how because of Kyrie and Luker.
- 31:07Speaker 4: Correct. Okay, So if I'm I look at Boston, I've
- 31:12Speaker 4: heard of people say they don't have I think they
- 31:14Speaker 4: have four defenders that can guard those two guys and
- 31:17Speaker 4: they can rotate them and as White back to Yeah,
- 31:24Speaker 4: but still even those four guys. What I'm saying defensively,
- 31:27Speaker 4: when guys are when when Lucas having a having his
- 31:30Speaker 4: way against Drew Holliday, well we're gonna switch the matchup.
- 31:32Speaker 4: We're gonna put Jaylen Brown if he's out quickening him,
- 31:35Speaker 4: We're gonna put Tatum. We can just rotate and yeah,
- 31:37Speaker 4: he may get the best of one. But as a superstar,
- 31:40Speaker 4: you don't want to give a superstar player the same
- 31:42Speaker 4: look all the time. If you give me the same
- 31:44Speaker 4: look all the time, I guess what I'm doing you eating,
- 31:46Speaker 4: I'm destroying your ass. But if you continue to give
- 31:49Speaker 4: me different looks and frustrating. We've seen last series Minnesota.
- 31:53Speaker 4: Finally they started double teaming Luca and and Kyrie and
- 31:58Speaker 4: making PJ. Washington lively, but making those guys be the
- 32:05Speaker 4: decision makers. Yeah, making James uh Jones Junior be the shooter. Yeah,
- 32:11Speaker 4: they've hitting shots. Cool, but are you used to that position?
- 32:15Speaker 4: Now you're you're being the playmaker, Now you're being the
- 32:17Speaker 4: primary scorer. Yeah, I know you can do it, but
- 32:20Speaker 4: like if you go through Onto and doing the entire
- 32:23Speaker 4: season lead your team. So that's what you you have
- 32:25Speaker 4: to decide. I think Boston has that ability. At the
- 32:28Speaker 4: same time, you're gonna be like, wait, wait, wait, what
- 32:30Speaker 4: Boston is gonna show up? That's my point.
- 32:33Speaker 5: I think Boston is gonna show because Boston has had
- 32:35Speaker 5: time to rest.
- 32:36Speaker 4: Keep that in mind, what Boston's gonna show up? As
- 32:39Speaker 4: far as settling, like, I just like, if Jason Tatum
- 32:42Speaker 4: is an attack mode, they're gonna win. They're gonna win
- 32:45Speaker 4: because it opens everything else, right, and he doesn't have
- 32:48Speaker 4: to guard the best player.
- 32:49Speaker 2: He does not because other three guys can do it.
- 32:52Speaker 4: Yeah, but if he's not going, he has Jayalen Brown, right,
- 32:55Speaker 4: and then Drew Holliday just can do whatever whenever, whenever
- 32:58Speaker 4: you need me. And there I hear ingus. Zingus presents
- 33:02Speaker 4: the problem because he's a stretch five.
- 33:04Speaker 2: I don't believe in him. I don't like him, but
- 33:06Speaker 2: I believe him.
- 33:06Speaker 4: But listen to me. He's a stretch five. So when
- 33:09Speaker 4: you put him in pick and roll and he pops,
- 33:12Speaker 4: who's in the paint? Your shot blockers are?
- 33:15Speaker 5: I got you?
- 33:16Speaker 4: Yeah? And then now on on defense, they can switch.
- 33:19Speaker 4: They don't have to be back in sit Mo. They
- 33:20Speaker 4: can switch. He might get cooked on there, but you
- 33:23Speaker 4: don't have to sit back all the time where Luca
- 33:26Speaker 4: Kyrie gets to pull up like, don't get me started,
- 33:27Speaker 4: Like that's you're great all day.
- 33:34Speaker 5: You just gonna come on our show.
- 33:35Speaker 4: Do you live in Atlanta or I live in Florida.
- 33:38Speaker 6: See, we got to go to Florida now.
- 33:39Speaker 4: I mean, I'm back and forth here.
- 33:42Speaker 5: You tell us who we need to talk to.
- 33:45Speaker 2: I want you to come get that on TV and
- 33:46Speaker 2: do the announcing because you're a great.
- 33:49Speaker 4: I just like to enlighten people like I played the game.
- 33:51Speaker 4: I like to be a coach. I'd rather be a
- 33:53Speaker 4: coach like this. People something to think about that you
- 33:55Speaker 4: go back and watch TV instead of being the coach,
- 33:57Speaker 4: because to the coach, the loyalty, the loyalty to the
- 34:03Speaker 4: coach right now is just winning. Coaches are getting fired
- 34:06Speaker 4: and that's just crazy to me. I just I don't know.
- 34:09Speaker 4: I mean, okay, what what did him do wrong?
- 34:13Speaker 2: Nothing?
- 34:13Speaker 4: He didn't win, didn't he didn't do nothing? Role, come on,
- 34:15Speaker 4: come on, give me because I'm about to give you
- 34:17Speaker 4: the other side.
- 34:17Speaker 5: Well, the reason why I say that is because of
- 34:19Speaker 5: the simple fact that they got to where the Lakers
- 34:22Speaker 5: have been getting with egos to he made do with
- 34:26Speaker 5: what he was given exactly. He's not picking the player.
- 34:29Speaker 5: He's not the GM, so he can't say the GM,
- 34:31Speaker 5: I need this person, this person at this bron the G.
- 34:35Speaker 4: But he got them into the playoffs? What did he
- 34:37Speaker 4: do last year?
- 34:38Speaker 2: Got him get into the college finals? And he's fired
- 34:41Speaker 2: the facts.
- 34:42Speaker 4: He's fired now enough that wasn't enough.
- 34:46Speaker 2: But I think I think the players have come back.
- 34:49Speaker 5: I think the players got too much power now. I
- 34:51Speaker 5: think the players are making so much money that they
- 34:53Speaker 5: can say, hey, this coach is making way less than
- 34:56Speaker 5: i'm making, get rid of me.
- 34:58Speaker 4: I think I'll say this. I think it's more in that.
- 35:00Speaker 4: I just think you know, now in the sensitive generation,
- 35:04Speaker 4: when you coach, you too hard to yell at your
- 35:06Speaker 4: coach and hard they're like, nah, man, hey, b you're
- 35:10Speaker 4: doing that. I'm me, I'm I'm making fifty year. If
- 35:14Speaker 4: you're an organization, guess what you say, Is it easier
- 35:17Speaker 4: to get rid of a coach or a player?
- 35:19Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 35:19Speaker 4: And you're dealing with to replace the coach and the player,
- 35:22Speaker 4: because yeah, so that's just how it works out.
- 35:24Speaker 2: We appreciate you.
- 35:25Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 35:25Speaker 4: Man it all day.
- 35:27Speaker 2: No, we got to do a show for we gotta
- 35:31Speaker 2: get management info.
- 35:33Speaker 4: I got a lot of good stuff. I just like
- 35:35Speaker 4: to enlighten people, like I said, just to give people
- 35:37Speaker 4: something to think about it for your discussion. I know
- 35:38Speaker 4: you people have leave comments all the time. That's what
- 35:41Speaker 4: that's why I enjoy doing. To give you something to
- 35:43Speaker 4: think about. And you're welcome to have your comments. I
- 35:44Speaker 4: just want you to think about facts how I see.
- 35:46Speaker 2: It or we see it on the other side, and
- 35:48Speaker 2: just see, like shout out to your legendary, your legendary
- 35:52Speaker 2: sneaker line the shocks because those because of you.
- 35:55Speaker 4: I appreciate it.
- 35:56Speaker 6: Man, we got the legend. Vince Carter right here on
- 35:58Speaker 6: the blah blah blah show.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Won't have ball or what type of robbing said us up?
- 36:02Speaker 2: Got a nice little you know what I'm saying, robbing.
- 36:04Speaker 5: Out here looking dapper.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Yeah, Robbin is golfing what she had said she was
- 36:07Speaker 2: coming back like ten minutes ago. She ain't made it.
- 36:09Speaker 5: You look like you about to start golfing out there too.
- 36:11Speaker 5: Funny moment.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Funny moment. It started raining and I told BT, I said,
- 36:14Speaker 2: give it about ten minutes. All the ladies are gonna
- 36:16Speaker 2: come back real fast on their golf carts. And it
- 36:18Speaker 2: was about seven and a half minutes and.
- 36:21Speaker 5: They was in single found. Everybody car pulled up in
- 36:24Speaker 5: single foul line and Robbers said, look, didn't I tell you?
- 36:27Speaker 5: I said, you was not lying? Okay, what's how big Zach?
- 36:29Speaker 5: Local green, local green? What's up?
- 36:31Speaker 6: Listen, that's why my hair is like this.
- 36:32Speaker 2: It just you ran about it. As soon as soon
- 36:34Speaker 2: as it started drizzling, you ran inside.
- 36:36Speaker 5: But you know what you called it, because it's like
- 36:38Speaker 5: as soon as you felt the first drop, you said,
- 36:41Speaker 5: it's about the right and then it just started pouring
- 36:44Speaker 5: down rain and then I had to grab the chairs
- 36:46Speaker 5: like incredible hawk. You know, I've been in the gym,
- 36:48Speaker 5: so you know.
- 36:49Speaker 2: Fashion over, bro, fashion over.
- 36:50Speaker 5: Oh yeah yeah yeahsion over getting me right for the summer.
- 36:54Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, you know, I forgot to put my sun's
- 36:56Speaker 5: screen on so I might good might get a little
- 36:58Speaker 5: dark out here. Yeah, ain't talking about the son.
- 37:03Speaker 6: We got sorbet as well.
- 37:04Speaker 2: They fixing it up over there one time for the
- 37:06Speaker 2: ball or kuak here. You know, we're on the golf course,
- 37:08Speaker 2: so the knees is out and were looking cool. Mister
- 37:12Speaker 2: Pancho from Breakfast at Parties is here. Yeah, we had
- 37:16Speaker 2: to beg them to do this interview.
- 37:17Speaker 12: Yeah, because y'all know the same what I do. But
- 37:20Speaker 12: this is Pancho aka Barney of Breakfast at Barney.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Now you have one of the best places to go
- 37:28Speaker 2: get brunch in the city of Atlanta.
- 37:30Speaker 12: Man, I just put it into work, you know. That's
- 37:32Speaker 12: how we became the best because I put into work
- 37:36Speaker 12: and I've been putting in the work in Atlanta since
- 37:38Speaker 12: five Are you from Atlanta? No, I'm from outside of Savannah, Georgia.
- 37:42Speaker 12: I'm a real life country.
- 37:43Speaker 5: Boy country boy.
- 37:44Speaker 12: Yeah, straight out of Glenville, Georgia. It's about forty minutes
- 37:48Speaker 12: outside of Savannah, Georgia.
- 37:50Speaker 5: So's I watch Food So Good?
- 37:51Speaker 12: Absolutely because, but also because I started traveling at a
- 37:56Speaker 12: young age.
- 37:56Speaker 1: So my palette is a little different.
- 37:59Speaker 2: You do have a nice palette.
- 38:00Speaker 6: What you were saying, what brought you to the restaurant business?
- 38:03Speaker 12: Because I used to be in the club promotion game
- 38:05Speaker 12: and it's not creative enough for me. So I wanted
- 38:10Speaker 12: to create my own lane again. So I ventured into
- 38:13Speaker 12: the hospitality space. Even though the club game is hospitality.
- 38:20Speaker 12: But I'm older now, I got kids, and I wanted
- 38:24Speaker 12: to create something where my parents and my kids can
- 38:28Speaker 12: come enjoy.
- 38:29Speaker 5: Now, what would you say the best spot? I mean, well,
- 38:31Speaker 5: the best food to try breakfast at PORNI I think
- 38:34Speaker 5: it's the catfish and spaghetti. What do you think?
- 38:37Speaker 12: Definitely the catfish and spaghetti. And let's be clear, French
- 38:41Speaker 12: nobody had the catfish and spaghetti on their menu breakfast part.
- 38:45Speaker 4: This is a fact.
- 38:46Speaker 2: This is a fact.
- 38:47Speaker 1: They they didn't even know it could go together. Facts,
- 38:51Speaker 1: you know. But don't forget my twenty four Carrigo pancakes cakes.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Crazy big, Yeah there edible, too big, but so you.
- 39:03Speaker 12: Can, but so you could take them home, okay and
- 39:07Speaker 12: enjoy them later, because all you gotta do is slap
- 39:10Speaker 12: them in the oven, warm them up, and you good
- 39:12Speaker 12: to go.
- 39:12Speaker 2: Okay, you done got comfortable with us?
- 39:14Speaker 6: Man, Keep going no real quick that it's a vibe
- 39:20Speaker 6: at your restaurant. And did you expect it to be
- 39:23Speaker 6: so popular so fast? Because that's like an Atlanta staple,
- 39:26Speaker 6: Atlanta fan favorite.
- 39:28Speaker 12: Well, I'll say this, I didn't know what was gonna
- 39:30Speaker 12: be big as it is, but I knew it was
- 39:33Speaker 12: gonna be big because God gave me the vision and
- 39:35Speaker 12: create it.
- 39:36Speaker 5: Yeah, you have all the celebrities come there. You know what,
- 39:39Speaker 5: I just sent somebody to your restaurant maybe about a
- 39:42Speaker 5: couple of weeks ago. That was like, what's the breast
- 39:44Speaker 5: breakfast spot to take my mom to? I said, you
- 39:45Speaker 5: gotta go to breakfast Barnies.
- 39:47Speaker 2: Are we gonna get another location eventually, you know, like
- 39:51Speaker 2: I in Georgia right now, but you know, you know eventually,
- 39:58Speaker 2: And simply because this is my first restaurant ever.
- 40:02Speaker 1: I've never worked in the restaurant space a day in
- 40:04Speaker 1: my life.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Wow.
- 40:05Speaker 12: So I'm learning as I go. So I gotta take
- 40:08Speaker 12: my time because I can't mess this up.
- 40:11Speaker 1: This for us.
- 40:12Speaker 2: I want to also say it's great customer service every time.
- 40:15Speaker 2: Y'all have never had a problem there. And I waited,
- 40:19Speaker 2: like you gotta wait because it's it's gonna taste good,
- 40:21Speaker 2: the food's gonna taste good, the vibe is good and
- 40:24Speaker 2: is nice.
- 40:25Speaker 6: The music is great.
- 40:27Speaker 12: Honestly, customer service was one of the main focuses I
- 40:31Speaker 12: wanted to pinpoint because I wanted to change the narrative
- 40:35Speaker 12: of black restaurant.
- 40:36Speaker 2: Talk about it, talk about it, there yet, Nah, because
- 40:40Speaker 2: that should be on the list.
- 40:42Speaker 1: Mister, Hey, you're gonna come through.
- 40:45Speaker 5: I like how you talk about customer service because we
- 40:48Speaker 5: just had a topic about this maybe a couple of months.
- 40:51Speaker 5: A couple of months ago, we were talking about how
- 40:53Speaker 5: the customer service in Atlanta is so terrible and the
- 40:58Speaker 5: food is so expensive. Make it make sense.
- 41:02Speaker 12: I can't talk about nobody else, but I know when
- 41:05Speaker 12: I want. When I came into the industry, I wanted
- 41:07Speaker 12: to give you a great product with great service.
- 41:10Speaker 1: So you do. For sure.
- 41:11Speaker 12: We spend a lot of time in training our staff.
- 41:15Speaker 12: My staff goes through training quarterly, you know, because it's important.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Okay, Well, we appreciate you.
- 41:21Speaker 6: Sir, Yeah, we appreciate you. We got to broadcast live
- 41:23Speaker 6: one day from breakfast at Bart's.
- 41:25Speaker 12: Figure out you ain't got to be on camera next time,
- 41:28Speaker 12: but y'all got to come experience it in the rich
- 41:31Speaker 12: Life room.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Can Can we talk about the rich Life roo room?
- 41:35Speaker 12: Cour rich life room is because I come from the
- 41:38Speaker 12: club industry, and I know certain players don't want to
- 41:41Speaker 12: wait in line.
- 41:42Speaker 5: You talking about that backroom.
- 41:43Speaker 4: Yes, I've been there.
- 41:44Speaker 2: I've been there too.
- 41:45Speaker 4: I've been there.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Don't want to wait in the line.
- 41:49Speaker 12: You know, we have the Rich Life Experience that you

- 42:57Speaker 10: Was the first event?
- 42:58Speaker 2: So wait, so three years ago you were now? Eight?
- 43:01Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 43:02Speaker 10: Well seven because I'm not I'm not eleven yet.
- 43:05Speaker 2: And three so you're ten. So you're ten right now?
- 43:09Speaker 2: You're about to be eleven?
- 43:10Speaker 8: Wow?
- 43:11Speaker 6: What brought you? What brought you to lemonade? Why'd you
- 43:13Speaker 6: want to start doing that?
- 43:14Speaker 4: Well?
- 43:14Speaker 10: I really love lemonade, and my dad wanted me to
- 43:17Speaker 10: start a business, so that's what happened.
- 43:21Speaker 8: I just want to start a elimonade business.
- 43:22Speaker 6: Okay, So what have you learned about the lemonade business
- 43:25Speaker 6: so far? It's a lot.
- 43:27Speaker 10: It's a lot of things like don't give up on stuff.
- 43:30Speaker 10: Sometimes it will be like hard, like it would be long,
- 43:34Speaker 10: but you still don't want to give up.
- 43:35Speaker 5: Okay, So what do you What do your friends think
- 43:38Speaker 5: about your your lemonade business?

- 43:46Speaker 2: Okay, now is there a website? How can we purchase lemonade.
- 43:49Speaker 2: If they're just seeing this for the first time.

- 46:07Speaker 6: in the building.
- 46:07Speaker 2: Man, how you doing today?
- 46:08Speaker 5: First I'm doing?
- 46:09Speaker 2: Do you golf?
- 46:09Speaker 5: I do?
- 46:10Speaker 8: Go?
- 46:10Speaker 4: Okay, so what was your We was eight under today?
- 46:13Speaker 2: Okay, eight under?
- 46:14Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 46:14Speaker 2: And I heard I heard eight under was actually damn
- 46:16Speaker 2: that's pretty damn good.
- 46:16Speaker 5: That's pretty good. Man schools on what that is because as.
- 46:20Speaker 3: Eighteen holes par seventy two. So in golf, subtraction is
- 46:24Speaker 3: better than the addition.
- 46:25Speaker 2: Okay, So so you want to be under?
- 46:27Speaker 1: You want to be under?
- 46:28Speaker 5: What marve do?
- 46:29Speaker 1: He was behind us?
- 46:30Speaker 3: I didn't see him, but I came hit a couple
- 46:31Speaker 3: of shots. We had a young kid ten years old
- 46:34Speaker 3: named Kemden guiding on our team, and dude is amazing.
- 46:38Speaker 2: He's pro.
- 46:38Speaker 4: I heard, Oh man, he's incredible.
- 46:40Speaker 1: He's incredible. Yeah.
- 46:41Speaker 6: We're just trying to school the culture a little bit
- 46:43Speaker 6: on golf, because you know, we don't really like, oh okay,
- 46:46Speaker 6: really good turn.
- 46:47Speaker 5: Us should but it should.
- 46:49Speaker 3: I mean, you know, it's a lot of money out there,
- 46:51Speaker 3: a lot of deals being made, a lot of conversations,
- 46:54Speaker 3: a lot of intelligence just where people come to get
- 46:56Speaker 3: it done.
- 46:57Speaker 5: You dressed like you play, now, that's so much justification.
- 47:01Speaker 6: I do play sometimes I'm trying to learn you just
- 47:03Speaker 6: for that case, thank you.
- 47:04Speaker 4: Yeah, not so much, y'all.
- 47:06Speaker 2: But I mean comfortable as comfortable as fletes on them ones.
- 47:10Speaker 4: And you.
- 47:13Speaker 2: Now how important it is for your mental health to
- 47:16Speaker 2: test the waters of golf.
- 47:18Speaker 8: Man.
- 47:19Speaker 3: So I don't know if it will help you, it'll
- 47:21Speaker 3: drive you crazy. I mean really, it'll do both. Like seriously, man,
- 47:24Speaker 3: Like you get out here. You know you need the
- 47:25Speaker 3: vitamin D, right, so you get outside, you get fresh air.
- 47:31Speaker 3: So it's good on that respect. If you take it
- 47:32Speaker 3: too serious, it's more stressful.
- 47:34Speaker 1: It is helpful.
- 47:35Speaker 3: So none of us are prosed. It's what we do
- 47:37Speaker 3: for a living, and so we win at the game
- 47:40Speaker 3: that we play and then we come out here and
- 47:41Speaker 3: do this for recreation.
- 47:43Speaker 5: Yeah. So golf is also I don't want to sound crazy,
- 47:46Speaker 5: so it's not a team sport.
- 47:49Speaker 1: It depends.
- 47:50Speaker 3: You know, the Ryder Cup.
- 47:51Speaker 4: So you got the United States versus h.
- 47:55Speaker 2: Versus.
- 47:56Speaker 6: We have no idea what we're talking about. So and
- 47:59Speaker 6: you know, a lot of community, especially the younger folks,
- 48:01Speaker 6: they don't know. So can you just break us down school.
- 48:04Speaker 3: When you're out there, it looks like it's an individual sport,
- 48:07Speaker 3: but in order to be good at golf, you got
- 48:09Speaker 3: to have a team. Come here real quick, this a
- 48:11Speaker 3: little this is a little pro right here on pro?
- 48:13Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, come here, just a little this this He
- 48:16Speaker 3: was on my team. He was on my team. This
- 48:19Speaker 3: is my guy right right there. Tell him what your
- 48:21Speaker 3: name is?
- 48:21Speaker 11: Man?
- 48:24Speaker 1: Yeah, he's.
- 48:28Speaker 2: What was your score today?
- 48:29Speaker 8: I think we shout eight under?
- 48:31Speaker 4: Oh?
- 48:31Speaker 2: So you you said weed? So this is the wee
- 48:33Speaker 2: that you talk about.
- 48:35Speaker 5: Now.
- 48:36Speaker 6: I heard Steve Harvey was making fun of you earlier.
- 48:39Speaker 2: One handicap probably Wow.
- 48:44Speaker 7: I'm going to tell you something that might be a
- 48:46Speaker 7: little shocking to you right now, but I'll be a
- 48:49Speaker 7: real daddy.
- 48:52Speaker 5: What do you think about that?
- 48:54Speaker 8: It shook me a little bit. I agree with you though, okay?
- 48:59Speaker 2: And you're ten, yes sir.
- 49:03Speaker 8: In September.
- 49:04Speaker 2: Man, you're very wise and well spoken for a ten
- 49:06Speaker 2: year old.
- 49:07Speaker 8: My man, Thank you?
- 49:08Speaker 6: And when did you start playing golf?
- 49:10Speaker 8: Five?
- 49:11Speaker 1: At five?
- 49:13Speaker 6: He's gonna be taking over here.
- 49:14Speaker 2: So you what what made you say I want to
- 49:15Speaker 2: play golf?
- 49:19Speaker 8: It was I picked up clubs at first?
- 49:22Speaker 2: Was it a bat? And you just was swinging it down?
- 49:24Speaker 2: And instead of up.
- 49:26Speaker 8: Somebody clubs I think and I swung it, and from
- 49:31Speaker 8: there on I just fell in love with the game.
- 49:34Speaker 5: Now, did your parents start molding you into all playing
- 49:37Speaker 5: golf as well?
- 49:38Speaker 8: Uh huh, well not really, No, it wasn't. It wasn't really.
- 49:42Speaker 8: My dad put it in high school, but it wasn't him.
- 49:46Speaker 5: So this was just a sport that you just decided.
- 49:48Speaker 5: That's so cool.
- 49:49Speaker 4: I do got a gift.
- 49:50Speaker 2: Man, you look real smooth, my brother. You got the
- 49:52Speaker 2: whole you know what I'm saying. You got the under
- 49:53Speaker 2: armor belt. You know what I'm saying. Where did you
- 49:55Speaker 2: get this shirt from?
- 49:56Speaker 8: This is Grayson, this is too, and then the shure
- 50:01Speaker 8: is it looked.
- 50:02Speaker 2: Like a real golf player. Man, We appreciate you guys.
- 50:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:05Speaker 5: Yeah, don't forget about us either.
- 50:06Speaker 6: Man, when you start when did you start golfing?
- 50:08Speaker 5: Uh?
- 50:09Speaker 3: Wednesday?
- 50:10Speaker 4: Oh, I'm just kidding.
- 50:11Speaker 5: I was like, I was like, now, now, I started.
- 50:13Speaker 3: Playing about four years ago. I played a little bit
- 50:15Speaker 3: in college, but start taking it.
- 50:17Speaker 1: Here's about four years ago.
- 50:19Speaker 6: Okay, okay, okay, Well we're happy to see you out here.
- 50:22Speaker 6: Did you stay during the rain? How did that go?
- 50:24Speaker 3: Because I know it poor, it poor, So we went
- 50:26Speaker 3: under the tent, okay and stayed under there for about
- 50:30Speaker 3: thirty forty minutes.
- 50:31Speaker 6: BT was convinced that y'all were just golfing in the rain.
- 50:34Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, I thought y'all golf.
- 50:37Speaker 8: In the rain.
- 50:37Speaker 4: I mean you can, but it's hard.
- 50:39Speaker 1: It's hard.
- 50:40Speaker 5: Yeah. I was convinced.
- 50:41Speaker 3: I said, man, they out there still golf and they're crazy,
- 50:43Speaker 3: Nona because we ain't see y'all come back.
- 50:45Speaker 2: And all the ladies came back.
- 50:46Speaker 3: The ladies was that they ain't want their hair.
- 50:47Speaker 6: Mass immediately, I don't want Yeah.
- 50:50Speaker 8: It was uh, they were like my hair goes looked
- 50:53Speaker 8: like Foster that it was.
- 51:00Speaker 6: It was fun.
- 51:01Speaker 8: The whole thing was fun. I just really really good
- 51:06Speaker 8: props to mister Steve for putting this whole thing.
- 51:08Speaker 5: Guy, any of your friends played golf?
- 51:12Speaker 8: I bet I have golf friends, but none of my
- 51:15Speaker 8: friends of school plays off like in what the fifth grade?
- 51:20Speaker 6: Okay, sixth grade? Okay? Are you going to sixth grade?
- 51:24Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 51:24Speaker 2: Okay, Wow, give him some shout outs.
- 51:26Speaker 8: For you, though, pastor, mister Steve Harvey, and yeah.
- 51:35Speaker 2: You better shout out mama and dad, Oh.
- 51:37Speaker 8: Mom, dad, yes, my dad is my dad is mister
- 51:41Speaker 8: Steve though?
- 51:44Speaker 2: My bad, my bad, my dad, my dad, my bad.
- 51:51Speaker 5: Right, Well, I think you would be paying Steve back
- 51:53Speaker 5: when you get older, because you definitely got some skills
- 51:56Speaker 5: from what we're hearing about. So huh, you know made
- 51:58Speaker 5: the best of look and a success and we can't
- 52:01Speaker 5: wait for you to sit back and watch this video
- 52:03Speaker 5: ten years from now when you pro but just you know,
- 52:07Speaker 5: remember the little people.
- 52:09Speaker 6: All right, thank you so much.
- 52:10Speaker 2: We appreciate both of you, guys, I appreciate you.
- 52:12Speaker 8: Alert.
- 52:13Speaker 11: We'll be right back. Stay tuned with more of the
- 52:16Speaker 11: Baller Alert Show. You're listening to a special edition of
- 52:21Speaker 11: The Baller Alert Show.
- 52:22Speaker 6: Hey, guys, is Edge Moore. Tina's right here on the
- 52:25Speaker 6: Baller Alert Show. Got the legend in the buildine Hello
- 52:30Speaker 6: God golfer Robers said, listen, Andie's gonna finish everything.
- 52:33Speaker 8: I'm gonna lie.
- 52:34Speaker 6: I'm not gonna lie.
- 52:35Speaker 14: I'm a very humble golfer because everybody should be humble golf.
- 52:38Speaker 6: Because it's a brutal score. Say today, I kind of
- 52:41Speaker 6: got busy out there. I'm not gonna well, it was
- 52:44Speaker 6: a team score, so it's not it's we're playing basketball.
- 52:47Speaker 14: I don't know when somebody else was keeping it, but
- 52:49Speaker 14: we got about eight birdies out there today, like real birdies.
- 52:52Speaker 2: Like so I'm hearing the more negative because I don't
- 52:55Speaker 2: really understand golf all the way one. The more negative the.
- 52:57Speaker 6: Better, definitely. Now, when did you time to get to
- 53:00Speaker 6: the to the hole?
- 53:01Speaker 14: Less time, less strokes, less strokes it takes you to
- 53:05Speaker 14: get into the packet, the better the score.
- 53:07Speaker 6: It be easy. We need a quick breakdown for the
- 53:09Speaker 6: culture because you know, we don't really golf like that.
- 53:11Speaker 6: Here here it is for the culture. Right, every hole
- 53:13Speaker 6: has a par that means you have that many strokes
- 53:16Speaker 6: to put it in the hole.
- 53:17Speaker 14: So it's a par five. You got five times to stroke.
- 53:20Speaker 14: If you go one under, that's a birdie, one over
- 53:22Speaker 14: is a bogie. But if you make pars straight all
- 53:25Speaker 14: the way through, that's a perfect game. It's called scratch golf.
- 53:28Speaker 14: And you don't need any overstrikes or any understrikes.
- 53:32Speaker 6: Is that clear? Yes? No, Tiger Woods is better than that,
- 53:35Speaker 6: better than scratch. He's under whatever the par is. So
- 53:38Speaker 6: if they say this hole takes three strokes to get
- 53:41Speaker 6: it in, Tiger's probably gonna do it in one or two.
- 53:43Speaker 6: When did you start golfing? I started about two years ago.
- 53:47Speaker 6: You're this advanced.
- 53:48Speaker 2: You sound like a pro.
- 53:49Speaker 14: You know why because I'm a junkie. Because I'm like
- 53:51Speaker 14: a golf junkie. Because now I just caught the bug.
- 53:54Speaker 6: I just I love it. I wish I would start
- 53:56Speaker 6: made you catch the back. One of my girlfriends was like,
- 54:00Speaker 6: play with us. We got.
- 54:01Speaker 5: I was like, golf.
- 54:02Speaker 6: You would ask me this, golf, golf, What are you crazy?
- 54:07Speaker 6: But she was like, no, nobody's good.
- 54:08Speaker 5: Don't worry.
- 54:08Speaker 14: We're gonna we're gonna drive the car. We're gonna we're
- 54:10Speaker 14: gonna drink and play music. It's gonna be great. I
- 54:13Speaker 14: was like, all right, dope, let's go whatever.
- 54:14Speaker 5: I like.
- 54:15Speaker 14: You sound fun, it sounds fun, and it was fun.
- 54:17Speaker 14: I was terrible, and then I took a couple lessons.
- 54:19Speaker 14: Still terrible. I think just now I'm starting to like
- 54:22Speaker 14: find the pocket.
- 54:23Speaker 6: That's consistent.
- 54:23Speaker 2: Yeah, talks about you all the time, but you guys
- 54:25Speaker 2: are golf buddies.
- 54:26Speaker 6: Yes, it's a great It's like, you know, some people
- 54:29Speaker 6: like meditation. They like different things. I think that's what
- 54:33Speaker 6: like golf. I call golf like walking meditation.
- 54:36Speaker 2: Like that's what I asked. Does it do something for
- 54:37Speaker 2: your mental health? Does it make you it does you know?
- 54:40Speaker 14: For me, it's like the one thing that I do
- 54:41Speaker 14: where I'm not multitasking, you know how that everybody says
- 54:44Speaker 14: you should be in the moment, be present. That's what
- 54:45Speaker 14: people do when they meditate. That's what people do when
- 54:47Speaker 14: they have a skill or something that they like focus on.
- 54:51Speaker 14: For me, golf, I don't take any zooms, no calls.
- 54:54Speaker 14: I don't do Some people do business. I don't do business.
- 54:57Speaker 14: I do my golf and then I get to work after.
- 54:59Speaker 14: So it's like, you know, it's like a little bit
- 55:01Speaker 14: of like a meditative type of thing, and it's hard,
- 55:04Speaker 14: so there's always something to work on.
- 55:06Speaker 6: Expensive it's so hard.
- 55:08Speaker 14: It doesn't have to be expensive. There's plenty of public
- 55:10Speaker 14: that's a misconception. That's why a lot of us don't golf,
- 55:12Speaker 14: because I think we can't afford it. You can't afford it,
- 55:15Speaker 14: I mean, listen, if you're buying the expensive clubs, of course,
- 55:17Speaker 14: but there are secondhand clubs you could buy.
- 55:19Speaker 6: That are what I did.
- 55:20Speaker 14: When I first started. I didn't I rented clubs. Why
- 55:23Speaker 14: I bought a secondhand because I didn't know the game enough.
- 55:26Speaker 14: Then I went and invested in a set of clubs
- 55:28Speaker 14: but you could play the public course for I've played
- 55:30Speaker 14: in Compton, I've played in the Bronx.
- 55:32Speaker 6: I've played in courses. Yes, in the Bronx, and.
- 55:36Speaker 14: You could play for I don't know. I don't want
- 55:37Speaker 14: to say a wrong price, but it's not more than
- 55:39Speaker 14: forty dollars.
- 55:40Speaker 6: It's see there.
- 55:40Speaker 5: But there are public places that you can play.
- 55:42Speaker 6: There's plenty of affordable In most cities, there's public places
- 55:46Speaker 6: that are affordable. Quickly. What are some of the benefits
- 55:49Speaker 6: to golf, Well, I think it's different for everybody.
- 55:52Speaker 14: I think some people like it. Some people say they
- 55:55Speaker 14: do a lot of business and things like that. I
- 55:57Speaker 14: never do business on the golf course, even though I
- 55:58Speaker 14: have met a lot of interesting people. You might go
- 56:01Speaker 14: off with somebody you never thought you would hang out.
- 56:03Speaker 14: What am I doing with this course?
- 56:04Speaker 6: You both have a love for the sport. But I
- 56:07Speaker 6: think so. Some people say it's good for connection, connecting
- 56:10Speaker 6: and business and things like that. For me, like I said,
- 56:12Speaker 6: it's you know, it's just something to focus. It's like,
- 56:15Speaker 6: I don't know how to explain it. It's like a
- 56:16Speaker 6: meditation almost in a weird way. Do you ever do
- 56:20Speaker 6: you ever see yourself throwing a tournament in the future.
- 56:23Speaker 14: I don't think I would want to throw a tournament,
- 56:24Speaker 14: but who's I would never say never. I might in
- 56:26Speaker 14: collaboration if that. If it meant something good.
- 56:29Speaker 6: For barbecue, I know you do that?
- 56:32Speaker 2: Do that?
- 56:32Speaker 6: We Actually we're gonn announce this week. I'll tell you
- 56:34Speaker 6: that early. Okay, We're about to announce this week New York. Yeah,
- 56:37Speaker 6: I do it.
- 56:38Speaker 14: Annual barbecue. It's a good time. If you're in New York,
- 56:40Speaker 14: you should come out. Okay, But and I'm announcing this week.
- 56:44Speaker 14: All the information the day and stuff. Actually so but yeah,
- 56:47Speaker 14: who knows, who knows? But for right now I enjoy it.
- 56:49Speaker 14: Steve Harvey Tournament.
- 56:50Speaker 6: I just came back from Pebble Beach.
- 56:51Speaker 14: I had a Kith Kith did a big tournament out there,
- 56:54Speaker 14: which was amazing.
- 56:55Speaker 6: And then call it's is next week you're gonna do that?
- 56:58Speaker 11: I am.
- 56:59Speaker 6: I'm like on tour this much.
- 57:02Speaker 14: So you get invited to these things, Martinez to I'm
- 57:04Speaker 14: gonna make like jackets and mergers.
- 57:05Speaker 2: Wait wait, let me ask your questions someone like if
- 57:08Speaker 2: your stature get an invitation, these invite only.
- 57:12Speaker 14: Well and some of them I get invited to or
- 57:14Speaker 14: sometimes like this like baller Alert had a had to
- 57:17Speaker 14: force them today, so they invited me to play with
- 57:19Speaker 14: baller Alert. So sometimes the organization might I'm time for
- 57:22Speaker 14: ball Alert. I'm I'm playing with Robin and baller Alert today.
- 57:26Speaker 14: Sometimes it'll be like like Khalid's call and invited me
- 57:30Speaker 14: to his and then the Kith thing, the Kith team
- 57:33Speaker 14: invited me, which they had an amazing collaboration.
- 57:35Speaker 2: You fly yourself or like things provide.
- 57:38Speaker 14: Everyone is different every every system, especially if it's charity.
- 57:41Speaker 14: If it's charity, they all kind of Sometimes they might
- 57:44Speaker 14: have a sponsor that might be bringing people out. Sometimes
- 57:47Speaker 14: you just want to be there to support, so you
- 57:48Speaker 14: fly yourself out. It's different every time.
- 57:50Speaker 5: So what are you enjoying more of these days? Golfing
- 57:52Speaker 5: or radio?
- 57:54Speaker 6: Sto dif for skills radio I could do my eyes closed?
- 57:58Speaker 6: Can I golf still really hard for me?
- 58:01Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 58:01Speaker 2: I feel like you are one of the greatest radio
- 58:05Speaker 2: personalities of all time.
- 58:06Speaker 12: Thank you.
- 58:08Speaker 2: But do you see any younger radio personalities coming up
- 58:12Speaker 2: in the game, because I don't really see a lot
- 58:14Speaker 2: of radio personality people say I want to be on
- 58:17Speaker 2: the radio. I see a lot of influencers and media.
- 58:20Speaker 14: Yeah, Yeah, it's not like when we came up, everybody
- 58:22Speaker 14: wanted to be on the radio. Yeah, because radio is
- 58:25Speaker 14: I think radio hasn't done the best job at shifting
- 58:31Speaker 14: cultivat next generation of talent, I mean across the board,
- 58:35Speaker 14: across the country, I think, but there are some, there
- 58:38Speaker 14: is talent out there.
- 58:40Speaker 6: I'm surrounded by talent. I have iver Vera, I have
- 58:43Speaker 6: Young Yeah, Nila Simone. You know, Gabe Nyc came, he
- 58:51Speaker 6: was my intern. He now he does on the radar,
- 58:55Speaker 6: you know. So I think there is talent.
- 58:58Speaker 14: It's just, you know, we just need a kick for
- 59:00Speaker 14: to shift a little bit, and I think hopefully we'll
- 59:02Speaker 14: see that in the next couple of years, you know.
- 59:04Speaker 14: I mean, there's definitely people out there that can do
- 59:07Speaker 14: the work. And when you think about radio, it's not
- 59:09Speaker 14: just radio. It's not like what it used to be.
- 59:10Speaker 14: Radio used to be the only thing. So if you're
- 59:12Speaker 14: on the radio, you have the ears of everybody because
- 59:14Speaker 14: that was the only place you could go. It was
- 59:16Speaker 14: like the social media of the of the you know,
- 59:18Speaker 14: of the culture. But now there's so many places. So
- 59:21Speaker 14: even if you want to be on radio and you
- 59:22Speaker 14: want to be a radio star, let's just say you
- 59:25Speaker 14: can't just do radio.
- 59:26Speaker 6: I'm just do radio.
- 59:26Speaker 14: I got a podcast, and I got books coming I
- 59:28Speaker 14: got I just did a book. You know, I had
- 59:30Speaker 14: a book I did. I'm working on scripts now I'm
- 59:33Speaker 14: golfing at ball Alert. But it all started with it
- 59:39Speaker 14: starts with it. But also you have you know, I
- 59:41Speaker 14: have a social media platform that I take seriously. You know,
- 59:43Speaker 14: you have to everybody has to be there, has to
- 59:46Speaker 14: be hyphens Now there's too much, everything is fragmented a
- 59:49Speaker 14: little too much to just be on one thing.
- 59:51Speaker 6: But you have done a great job in reinventing yourself,
- 59:53Speaker 6: especially in today's time.
- 59:55Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not easy.
- 59:56Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, you're right. How does uh, I know you're
- 59:59Speaker 6: on the every day. How does that work with your
- 1:00:01Speaker 6: schedule what you're doing all these things? Yeah, it it's good.
- 1:00:05Speaker 14: I have a super supportive shout out to the team
- 1:00:07Speaker 14: at probably one five one. It's super supportive of you know,
- 1:00:10Speaker 14: I've always been really lucky like that that they understood
- 1:00:13Speaker 14: that I have.
- 1:00:14Speaker 6: A brand and a and a career even outside of
- 1:00:18Speaker 6: what I do on the radio. Radio is a home
- 1:00:19Speaker 6: base and it's still there and it's amazing, and I
- 1:00:21Speaker 6: you know, and I show.
- 1:00:22Speaker 14: Up and I deliver, but they're very supportive of Hey,
- 1:00:25Speaker 14: I gotta do this, I gotta do that, because it's
- 1:00:27Speaker 14: a win for everybody. It's it's like I told you,
- 1:00:29Speaker 14: you can't. Nobody could be successful in radio and not
- 1:00:32Speaker 14: be doing more than one thing on the radio right now.
- 1:00:34Speaker 6: Not today. I took this week off because I'm on
- 1:00:35Speaker 6: tour and I'm on golf tour.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: I told you golf Tour.
- 1:00:40Speaker 6: I'm on the Golf Tour Beach and I'm doing yeah,
- 1:00:46Speaker 6: and I'm talking to three shout out to thee and
- 1:00:48Speaker 6: we love you. So yes you're saying sorry, No, I was.
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: Just saying that it's really hard to find radio stations
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: that will support the talent and what they do outside.
- 1:00:56Speaker 14: By the way, shame on the program directors across the
- 1:00:59Speaker 14: country that not support their talent and support their talent
- 1:01:03Speaker 14: being as big as they possibly can be. I never
- 1:01:05Speaker 14: understand I never understand people who run radio stations that
- 1:01:09Speaker 14: I get it, you pay talent a certain to do
- 1:01:11Speaker 14: a certain thing, but you should want anybody who is
- 1:01:14Speaker 14: affiliated with you to operate at the highest level that
- 1:01:17Speaker 14: they could possibly operate and lifts them up and it
- 1:01:19Speaker 14: lifts your brand up. I don't understand that from from programmers.
- 1:01:22Speaker 14: So if you have a programming like that, you may
- 1:01:24Speaker 14: want to sit them down and have a real one with.
- 1:01:28Speaker 6: Okay, what's the future. I'm just gonna ask this last question,
- 1:01:32Speaker 6: what's the future for radio? You know, you got so
- 1:01:34Speaker 6: many streaming platforms and everything seems stream nowadays, Like, I mean,
- 1:01:38Speaker 6: how does it? How does radio fit?
- 1:01:40Speaker 14: I mean, I think, like you know, I think everything
- 1:01:42Speaker 14: has to shift. I think radio has to shift at
- 1:01:44Speaker 14: some point. I think podcasts have to shift. I think
- 1:01:47Speaker 14: social media platforms have to influencers have to shift. I
- 1:01:50Speaker 14: think we are constantly evolving, constantly shifting, and I think, yeah,
- 1:01:54Speaker 14: we always have to do that. But you know, radio
- 1:01:56Speaker 14: is still a very viable platform that serve a lot
- 1:02:00Speaker 14: of people, employs a lot of people, helps a lot
- 1:02:03Speaker 14: of people, and it's still there and it still very
- 1:02:05Speaker 14: active and so and I'm fortunate enough to be, you know,
- 1:02:08Speaker 14: in New York with Breakfast Club and Angelouye, and you
- 1:02:13Speaker 14: know what I'm saying, We we we we have powerful
- 1:02:16Speaker 14: people that understand that who are powerful on the radio,
- 1:02:19Speaker 14: but also understand that there are brands outside of what
- 1:02:22Speaker 14: they do on the air.
- 1:02:23Speaker 6: And it's and it serves everybody. I think, legend. We
- 1:02:26Speaker 6: appreciate you taking the time. You've been sitting out here
- 1:02:30Speaker 6: in this heat all day. It looks so pretty. I'm
- 1:02:33Speaker 6: sweating perfect golf balls. That's true. I did do at holes.
- 1:02:38Speaker 6: I did a hole that just finished, champion, and I'm
- 1:02:42Speaker 6: thinking happy to meet you and a proud of you.
- 1:02:44Speaker 6: Thank thank you, proud of you too. You guys are great.
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: Thank you so much for sub.
- 1:02:53Speaker 6: Let's not let's go get a drinks and Martinez a
- 1:02:58Speaker 6: living legend right here on Barlow Alert Show.

- 1:03:09Speaker 5: it's and it's cooking. And I think it's about time
- 1:03:12Speaker 5: for us to get the booking, to get the booking.
