- Keoni McKeague: Welcome back to the podcast. I'm your co-host Kenny McKee again. The root to be today on the fifth down is my boyfriend the fifth down Jerry's right Say what's up to the pod, but Jared Shirai: Soooo Yeah. Keoni McKeague: this. I like, you know, that you had like that thing and that you just right in the back of your throat, you keep trying to clear it. And I'm just like, man, it just keeps like bothering me. But ⁓ anyway, just got off a flight last night. So, you know, excuse me if my voice is a little hashed. Just returned from the city of sin. You know, that sort of stuff. ⁓ But yeah, anyway, we're here to talk some NFL fan or not fantasy football. Excuse me. Jared Shirai: Yep. Keoni McKeague: That'll be on a different pod. We're actually here to talk some NFL football because ⁓ the NFL draft is still going. You know, we're in the middle of the fourth round right now, currently live. But we're going to react to what we got to see so far. ⁓ Because to be completely honest, it's usually these first three, four rounds that are the most important. You know, these are the building block players. And then after that, it's sort of like the high upsides and, you know, that sort of stuff. So. ⁓ Anyway, we'll get into all of that in just a second. But before we do that, we have to give a shout out to our partners over at W Energy. Fantastic tasting energy. All of the energy you need to get through your day. You head on over to w.gg or use the W Energy app in our promo code, is poi and soy. That's P-O-I-N-S-O-Y for 10 % off your order book. Let's talk some NFL football. Sorry. ⁓ Yeah. So like I said, we're here. Jared Shirai: Let's get it, let's get it. Keoni McKeague: near the tail end of the fourth round, but we're gonna start off alphabetically because it just makes the most sense. It's the easiest to do. So let's start off the rip here with the Arizona Cardinals who, leading up until the draft, were having themselves just a field day with like the rumors and reports. There was all this stuff coming out about them maybe trying to pick up Ty Simpson as their like number one quarterback and all this other sort of stuff. They're developmental behind Jacoby Brissette. Jared Shirai: Yes. Keoni McKeague: And then there was this rumor that came about that they wanted to draft Jeremiah Love, which everybody was a little surprised by because they did just sign Tyler Algeyer ⁓ in the off season. They also have James Connor. They also have ⁓ what is this Trey Benson. So they did indeed make the big surprise selection of Jeremiah Love at number three. ⁓ And that was probably. Jared Shirai: sure you bend in. Keoni McKeague: For me, a big surprise. don't know how everybody else felt about that one. But then after that, they go and grab Chase Masantes in the second round. Carson Beck was the third round pick. So they did pick up a developmental quarterback in the third round. And then in this last round, the fourth round, they picked up Caleb Proctor at four ⁓ four. Boog, these are the picks we have. These are the players that they have picked up so far. What do you think about the Arizona Cardinals drafts far? Jared Shirai: I like the second, third and fourth draft picks. The first one is still mind-boloing to me. mean, I think with this draft pick, it kind of shows James Connor Trey Benson kind of one foot out the door because you did send, you did just sign Tyler Ager and I'm just like, okay, we again, we say it, we'll say it here. He kind of gets put on the back burner. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yeah. Jared Shirai: in a program when he thought he was going to be that guy. And we all thought, like, I mean, if you watch the past pods, we thought, ⁓ this is a great landing spot for him. He's going to get a lot of touches because everybody else is coming off for injury and it's going to be a good home for him. And then you go and you drop Jeremiah Love, which is not a bad draft pick because you mean he's a phenomenal running back, but in an already crowded running back room, it was just super mind blowing for me. So for me, I guess like Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: Future wise, that's what I'm kind of looking at going to happen. I love the fact that they went on and got some offensive line help for their quarterback for Jacoby Brissette. I also do like that they went in and got Carson Brack ⁓ as their developmental quarterback of the future, possibly. ⁓ Keoni McKeague: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Jared Shirai: And yeah, and then they went and like now that they're in the later rounds, I'm pretty sure they're going to show up the defensive side of the ball just because they already had a pretty good one. But now you're just going to get a little bit younger. Whether it's the trenches or your secondary. think they're having a good draft in the sense of like. If that is what they're looking at future wise, they got the quarterback, they got the running back, they're moving pieces for probably bigger, better pieces on the offensive side. ⁓ I think it's for another wide receiver. I think it's going to be like, they're going to move Connor Benson for another wide, like a veteran wide that will play like the wide receiver two slash three and just to help shore up the wide receiver room in that regard. Keoni McKeague: Mm-hmm. Yeah, maybe. Yeah, yeah, I would say the two. Jared Shirai: I love it. I mean, for what the vision possibly is, I think I love it. If that makes sense. Keoni McKeague: Yeah, yeah. I was like, think one of the best things that the Cardinals have done so far and the way if you're watching the draft, you're seeing kind of how things are playing out is they drafted positions that really have been going pretty early. Now, right now, like there was a quarterback run, there was a running back run, defensive tackle run. This was one of the deepest offensive guard drafts, ⁓ center drafts, basically offensive line drafts. So. They went and hit a lot of their needs really early. Chase Basantes was great value in the second round. ⁓ I know that was a guy that the Steelers were looking at, but all things told, man, I mean, they're great picks with the limited amount of picks that they had. You know, they only have exactly seven in this draft, all of their own picks. ⁓ But still some needs to be addressed. You know, I'm not sure where this puts them in the hierarchy of that division. Jacoby Brissette, I agree with you. Jared Shirai: Yeah. Keoni McKeague: He's getting older, so I really do like the pickup of Carson Beck. That's the thing with this draft of the quarterbacks. There's a bunch of quarterbacks in this draft that, you know, before the last couple of years, they were like, you know, top whatever prospects coming out of high school, going into college, that sort of stuff. This was supposed to be like a legendary draft, but a lot of these guys kind of faltered in college. We'll see if the. the talent that was previously there, if they can unlock that with these teams. So, great pickups by them so far. In general, this was kind of a mid-grade kind of deal for Arizona. ⁓ But they definitely have some chances to, ⁓ and they just made another pick. Yeah, I was like, they're about to pick right now. anyway, so maybe they'll address some of the other concerns, because as you can see here, they have offensive tackle needs, edge needs, safety needs. Jared Shirai: And they are picky right now. ⁓ Keoni McKeague: But a lot of those positions, there's a lot of those guys still left. So, ⁓ yeah, let's move on to the Atlanta Falcons. ⁓ You know, this is a team that we agreed, you know, had a lot of great moves made ⁓ that, you know, whether it's this offseason or the past couple of years, their defense has been looking very, very stout just because of some of the moves they have made. And then they go out and they make themselves, you know, some very solid additions during this draft. Especially at the value because they didn't have a whole lot of picks. You know what mean? There wasn't a lot of ⁓ draft capital for them to latch on to this year in order to make those big moves but Great value in the second round. They ended up picking avion to rail out of Clemson the brother of AJ to rail So now they have both to rail brothers over there ⁓ in Atlanta They did also pick a wide receiver Zachariah branch out of Georgia and then of course Kendall Daniels out of Oklahoma bug I mean, they only have, what is it? One, two, three, four, five, six, six picks total. The next two don't come into the sixth round. It's gonna be a long wait for the Atlanta Falcons, but you know, as we kind of talked about already, they're kind of a ready made defense. They did get good news on the James Pierce Jr. ⁓ Jared Shirai: Yeah. Keoni McKeague: controversy stuff ⁓ during this offseason. He will still be playing with them. So, ⁓ you know, very good for them to have one of their best players still able to play on the defensive side. But Boog, what do you think about the draft so far for them? And I guess just in general, the Falcons. Jared Shirai: Yeah. I mean, the Falcons, we kind of talked to them, so I won't talk about like in a long winded part of it, but they got to a Brian Robinson Jr. Johan Dotson. So they kind of shored it up. Getting a young wide receiver into this room as well puts it. think it's great because you just adding to more talent, more targets. He can grow under Drake London and Dotson because Dotson has been like kind of like the journeyman. Right. ⁓ For me, I like how they and. Keoni McKeague: Mm-hmm. Jared Shirai: You said it, they are a ready made team and they were a good defensive side of the ball team. Now they're just getting younger in that regard. think... ⁓ Keoni McKeague: ⁓ yeah. Jared Shirai: it's going to go to show that they're probably going to get an offensive tackle. Like that's one of their needs. I do think they do need to get one just, just not just for the youth, but I do think they just need to shore up that offensive line, give two players like Tua and Penix a little bit more time so they don't have to use their legs as much. Give them time to throw. But man, I like the pickups for, I mean, for the limited and they didn't even have a first round pick. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: the fact that they could get like these these pickups like Terrell, Branch and Daniels. I think it it it really fills the holes that are needed in that regard for them. I think they're taking what they can get ⁓ in what they saw. And like you said, there's there's still things to be addressed. But I mean, when you don't have picks, like you said, the next one is in the sixth round. They'll take what they can get as it comes to them and develop them as needed. Keoni McKeague: ⁓ yeah. ⁓ yeah. Yeah, mean, truthfully, they don't they didn't need a whole bunch. You know, I think this is one of those teams that is really, really good. ⁓ I wouldn't be surprised to see them use one of those late round picks on maybe like another developmental quarterback. ⁓ I could see that being a thing just because you have to who is, you know, to with all the injuries. Michael Pinnix, who has been dealing with his own string of injuries and then they don't really have anybody after that now with her cousins leaving in free agency. ⁓ Jared Shirai: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Keoni McKeague: Top of that, will say though, Zachariah Branch, I mean, besides Terrell, because obviously that's obvious, ends up reuniting with his brother. On top of that, he's probably even better than his brother, at least from the collegiate standpoint. You know, we'll see how that translates to the pros, but he is very, very good, very talented. They got really lucky that he fell to them in the second round. But Zachariah Branch to me is a hell of a steal for this Atlanta Falcon squad, because I do believe everything that some of these commentators are saying regarding his... Jared Shirai: Yeah. Keoni McKeague: Ability to not only get into space but his speed and that's one of the few things that this receiving core was missing especially once they got rid of ⁓ Ray McLeod who wasn't there anymore, but on top of that this kid Zechara branch out of Georgia I mean, he's built like a Mack truck. So he kind of got that stout build, you know, he's like he's a really strong dude But he's also you know, very very fast, which is something that they were missing It would be a good punt returner for them, which is another part of the game that I think Jared Shirai: Yeah. Keoni McKeague: Will kind of go underrated for them, but yeah Zechariah branch in the third round was a great pick up for them That was one of those guys that I was looking at for this Pitchfork Steelers So very excited that he ended up in a system where he gets to play with you know a very talented offensive group But let's move on to the Baltimore Ravens. guess because we have to ⁓ Yeah, Unfortunately can't really hate on the Baltimore Marines picks so far. This is another team similarly to ⁓ My team the Pittsburgh Steelers that had a lot of good picks or excuse me a lot of picks to use this year And they were not and addressed a lot of needs especially with this team, you know, obviously shifting have a brand new, know coaching staff They have a whole lot more ⁓ Things to play around with with a lot of these picks and as is the case with most teams that have brand new coaching staffs They have to come in and sort of assert themselves in the draft by bringing in guys that they feel like fit their new schemes and their new systems. Of course, as is always the case, not only do the Ravens benefit from the fact that they can kind of get these value guys that have fallen into their laps in the draft, but they seemingly always will target the same exact people that the Steelers are targeting. So naturally. Jared Shirai: Tell me about your bitterness there. Keoni McKeague: Yeah, naturally, there are some of these picks where I'm looking like, ⁓ that's weird. We wanted that guy. But anyway, ⁓ yeah. So but they're going to suck because now they're on the ravens. But anyway, so they do get some great value guys. Viggo Yawane out of Penn State. ⁓ Of course, that was the big get for them at offensive guard, one of the best guards, if not the best guard in this entire draft. And that's saying a lot considering how deep this draft was at the position. ⁓ Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: Their first overall pick at 14, which is great for them. That was one of the guys, obviously, the Steelers were hoping would fall another seven picks, but obviously that did not happen. Then they got Zion Young edge out of Missouri in the second round. That's another I just feel like these are the type of guys that just make the most sense for the Baltimore Ravens. He's a big kid. He can get get into, you know, his offensive lines. He's got good hands, that sort of stuff. He's really, really good up front. Then they go out, they went out and got some, you know, very, good wide receiver tunneling in the next two picks with Jacoby Lane out of USC and Elijah Surratt out of Indiana. ⁓ Elijah Surratt was probably the biggest faller out of all of the wide receivers that were expected to go in the first three rounds. So that was a great snag for them. ⁓ Now they might have, you know, some developmental wide receivers there for their team. We'll see how that pans out since, you know, we know. the history of the Ravens and throwing the ball and all that sort of stuff. So we'll see if that even helps him. Exactly. ⁓ And then, of course, the latest pick was Matthew Hibner out of SMU tight end. You know, they they needed to address that position because well, one, Mark Andrews getting older, Isaiah likely leaves a free agency. And on top of that, the fact that this is a pretty deep tight end group as far as the draft this year. Again, that was one of those positions. Another one that was very, very deep in this draft. So Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: book, looking at the picks, looking at what the Baltimore Ravens are doing, new head coach, all that sort of stuff. Do you like the direction that they're headed with this draft? Jared Shirai: Honestly, I love it. ⁓ think. They're addressing everything that needs to be addressed. You're going to go out and get the offensive line help because what was his name? Lindabombe? That's why, right? He left a free agency. like you feel the void and like you said, if not the best offensive lineman in the draft, that's who you went on and got. And then you went and got a defensive side of the ball, which I kind of harped on. Like they're not the Baltimore Ravens anymore when you think about defense. so like going and getting a young kid like Zion, I think that's a great get for them, a great Keoni McKeague: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. They're not. No. Jared Shirai: step in the right direction and then you adjust the things that really need to be addressed. They have no wide receiver room. Like there literally was none. You have Zay Flowers and Rashad Bateman and Zay is like kind of coming into his own, but he's not your like if you put him on any other team, he's not a wide receiver one. And so you go and you get Jacobi Lane and Elijah Starrett. And I think that the two of them will bring the youth. Yeah, to Keoni McKeague: Mm-hmm. Two big body receivers too, bro. Six four six three. That's two different, I'm like, they're massive. Massive possession guys, which I hate that they got those guys. But you know, congratulations, stupid ravens. Jared Shirai: I know I was looking at their heights I was like dang I didn't realize they were that big I thought they were on a little smaller side I know Yeah, but and then and then it's good because like this is this because it is a new head coach. So this may be a little bit of different step in the direction that they want to go in from past times, maybe make them a little bit more successful as far as like getting into a past game. And then like you said, him there, a phenomenal pickup. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: just because they needed to address it. All the points that you made, my biggest point is likely was that that guy that was gonna step in and he ended up leaving. So you gotta get somebody in there to train them, kinda like the Kansas City Chiefs. When Kelsey's leaving, you want that next guy to step right in and they're doing the exact same thing. When Andrew's leaves, you want the seamless. ⁓ Keoni McKeague: Yes. Jared Shirai: step out, step in guy, and I think this guy could be definitely it. So I love, I love what they're doing in the draft. I know you hate it right now because it is the Baltimore Ravens, but as far as the Ravens go, I think they're taking steps in the right direction to kind of get them back to where they used to be. There's still a lot to address, but I think they're definitely headed in the right direction. Keoni McKeague: Yes, I mean, I agree wholeheartedly, even though I want to hate on the picks that they made. They're doing really well with capturing value at the picks that they're making. A lot of these guys are falling into the laps, like I said, and it happens every year. That's one of the best things I love about all of the AFC North teams. And we'll get to another one that has been having a phenomenal draft. But yeah, the thing with the AFC North teams is they usually will address a lot of their needs in free agency and then let the draft fall the way it does so that they can grab Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Yes. Keoni McKeague: best available and I really like that they've done that here. ⁓ Elijah Serrat to me was going to be one of the golden goose guys later on in the draft and I'm a little salty that they got him but good for them. That's great value. That's absolutely phenomenal value. Zion Young is another one that I was looking at because he's just a big kid, long arms, got the profile of a defensive tech or defensive edge kind of guy. He's going to be very, very good for them. So scary times for the Baltimore Ravens and the AFC North but You know, good for them. They've been having a fantastic draft so far. And my goodness, that team that I talked about just made another great pickup. But anyway, let's move on to the Buffalo Bills. This is their team that I mean, they ⁓ started off very weak. They kind of picked it up because they did trade out of the first round. They kind of had some some moves that I understand it now because they did end up adding more picks in the later round so that they can kind of make. Jared Shirai: Hehehehehe Yeah. Keoni McKeague: more depth picks and that's the one thing that people are pointing out with this draft is this is a B plus draft is like the best way I've been hearing is like you're getting a lot of guys in that B plus range. You're not necessarily getting a bunch of game changers, but you're getting a lot of great value all throughout the draft. So that's one of the things that's really, really good for them specifically is that they were able to trade back, get a couple more picks in the second, in the third, or excuse me, the second and the fourth. and get some value guys for them because this is a team that does have a lot of needs. People keep pointing to the fact it's Josh on his team and all this sort of stuff, but they do have a lot of needs to address. But starting off at the top, they did trade out of the first round to the second round. Now they had ⁓ with their first pick in the second round, they grabbed T.J. Parker out of Clemson, which is a fantastic grab for them. They had a lot of guys who left in free agency. Obviously, you had, know, what's his name, Bosa left sometime. Jared Shirai: Yeah. Keoni McKeague: Wasn't great last year, you know, just a guy that they just a position that they needed to address. So they went out and got T.J. Parker, David Ibn Nassim, who I feel like was one of the better corners in this draft. Another great graph for them out of Ohio State, six to one eighty nine. I mean, that's a fantastic profile for a corner. That's a big dude at the corner position. Jude Bowery out of Boston College offensive tackle. Of course, they had to address that because you have Josh Allen needs to protect that guy. He needs to be able to make sure that he can run. That's what Jude Bowery is very good at ⁓ opening up that lane for him to run out that way. You got Yukon's Skylar Bell, who was one of the more value wide receivers at this spot, especially. But, you know, good speed, good hands, that sort of stuff. All the measure bowls. Everything is great for him. And then, of course, Caleb Alarms or Ada TCU linebacker. Probably their first reach out of all the draft picks that they made, but. has all the talent in the world just some of the tape in college wasn't super super good but anyway Bug, the Buffalo Bills obviously we know where they're at they don't necessarily have I mean you know they're they're technically ready-built contenders they're already sort of in that vein of like we're heading into contendership and that sort of stuff but what do you like about the draft did you like the draft anything that stands out to you that you didn't like or you know vice versa Jared Shirai: I actually kind of like what they're doing with their draft. think with their first pick, like you said, they need to fill that void. Like, Bosa wasn't the greatest, but it was a position that definitely needed to be filled. And they went in on TJ Parker, so I love that. And then they went in and addressed the secondary because the secondary wasn't the greatest last year, going in and getting a quarterback. The offensive tackle point, perfect, you know, protecting Josh Allen at all costs, as well as like ⁓ opening up for the run for him. I mean, we know how deadly he is with his legs as well as if the if you give him time to throw they went out and they got Skyler Bell which they needed to address the wide receiver room because even though they got DJ Moore, Khalil Shakir and like who they have Palmer and Palmer and Kian Coleman like it's not a phenomenal like your good names your names but it's like it's not a phenomenal wide receiver room and so you you want Josh Antone more targets Keoni McKeague: wide receiver room. Yeah. Jared Shirai: a big bodied as well as like sure handed you can be Connors got to be able to help you there. And then they went back and they addressed the defense side of the ball. think they're doing a lot there. did enough on the offensive side of the ball this past year in the offseason as well to kind of shore up what Josh Allen needs. Like you said, we said it on the pass pods that they're kind of going all in in that. So they need to like really both to the defensive side of the ball so that they get stops so that they get him the ball more often. And I think once they do that, like, then, like you said, it's all on Josh Allen this year. If they can lock down the defensive side of ball and be one of the best teams in the NFL on the defensive side of the ball, then Josh Allen has no excuses. As much as I love Josh Allen. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: You really don't have any excuses because they're giving you what you need. James Cook is coming to his own, you know, and they went and they got you a DJ more and they're getting you youth as well around and they're trying to bolster the front line to give you more time and allow you to do what you need to do. So at the end of the day, I think they're making great draft picks to make that run. Keoni McKeague: Yeah, I agree wholeheartedly. This is to me this these are the picks you make when you're trying to win it all this year. And that's seemingly what they're trying to do. You know what mean? The Buffalo Bills always are right there. Never can get over the hump. You know, we'll see if Josh Allen and this Bills team can make magic happen, because as we've seen for many years, you know, that has not been the case. So we'll see. I think it's a great draft so far for them as well. You know, we'll see. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: how it translates on the field. anyway, let's move to the Carolina Panthers. You know, a team that was surprising last year came out of nowhere as a contender and, you know, seemingly will step into this new year hoping to build on that. You know what I mean? ⁓ So they went out and started off ⁓ probably the same way that you should start off any single, any draft, which is in the trenches with both their first picks. ⁓ Obviously, their first one pick was Monroe Freeling. out of Georgia, offensive tackle. ⁓ And then they went and grabbed Lee Hunter out of Texas Tech defensive tackle. ⁓ Again, two guys from two programs that are renowned, very, very good players, that sort of stuff, great value. ⁓ Then they went and went to the offensive side with Chris Brazel out of Tennessee, a wide receiver that a lot of people are up and down on. You know what I mean? He has the measurables. He's obviously 6'4", but he is a little skinny at 198. But with that comes the fact that this kid has absolute burst. He has some crazy speed. So they're expecting him to be a vertical threat, especially when you're looking at sort of the profile of what they have already. You already have a Tedaroya McMillan. He's your possession guy. Now you have a Chris Brazel who can blow it off the top and run behind all the DBs. So that is something that they're expecting out of this player in the third round, which I do think. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: Honestly profile wise, I mean he's six four and can run very fast So it's like I was like, what else do you need out of a wide receiver? Bryce Young just needs to be able to see him. So we'll see if that We'll see that as a way I mean, let's let's keep it a buck here Maybe he'll see him. Maybe he won't but six four. That's probably why they drafted him Then you got will Lee the third out of Texas A &M in the fourth round here Jared Shirai: Yeah. ⁓ God, here we go. It's funny that you talked about that. Keoni McKeague: And then of course Sam Hecht, which I feel like was probably one of the biggest fallers in this entire draft. But they might have gotten their center of the feature in the fifth round, which is pretty crazy to think because Sam Hecht is a hell of a center and he was not expected to fall all the way down here. So in the fifth round, getting a really, really good center, six, four, three or three. mean, that's a that's that corn, corn feed, wet boy type of stuff. So, you know what I mean? But anyway, book. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. That's crazy. Hahaha Keoni McKeague: thoughts, feelings on the ⁓ Carolina Panthers draft so far. Jared Shirai: I can't go backwards so that we can laugh at the end, okay? So Samhack, like you said, not supposed to fall that far. I love that they were able to get him in the fifth round. Keoni McKeague: Yeah, sure. Jared Shirai: of a phenomenal value pick. I think that, like you said, center of the future, getting protection for the Bryce Youngs that you need. Going to the defensive side of ball, don't know, with Will Lee, I think that's always gonna be great. They had one of the sneakiest, I would say, defensive outputs last year. Keoni McKeague: Yep, agree. Yeah. Oh, 100%. Yeah. Jared Shirai: going from worst to worst to worst to worst to basically because they were the worst before that. So just shoring up that side, I love it. Then you went out and another wide receiver who stretches the field for you. ⁓ giving another ⁓ deep threat target i think that's phenomenal for them then you go to the defenses of the ball you get lee hunter to show up the trenches like you said in the first couple picks they showed up the trenches i think that's that's a phenomenal pick you get younger on the line as well as a threat from him and then you get manuel freeling ⁓ i think that's a phenomenal pick the only reason why i said i would talk about him last is because the brother is six seven and brice young is five ten so i don't think you can light up anybody on his side of the line Keoni McKeague: Yep. Jared Shirai: to make sure that he can see. I mean it's phenomenal because at 6'7 you know the wingspan that he brings to be able to defend his side but the height does not... I know. Keoni McKeague: The six-year-olds watching our draft are going crazy right now. Six-seven. Jared Shirai: But for me, like the biggest thing is like, yeah, you got a big guy, but can't you quarterback see over him? But I think overall rating low for this one. I love it. I think they address everything they need to. I do think they need to do more on the defensive side of the ball. If I'm being honest, like that's one of the biggest things. And then from there, I think they had a really good season and we'll just see if they can literally follow it up with the development of these picks. Keoni McKeague: ⁓ yeah. Go. I'll just say, was like between the success that they had last season and the fact that they have, you know, a very good coaching staff and they had a really, really good draft. mean, some great value there. I really do like the trench moves that they made and then getting a guy like Chris Brazel at that, at that ⁓ value is just great for them. you know, shout out to the Panthers, man. That's going to be a scary team in that division. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Keoni McKeague: Even though I will say as we get later into this, that division is also getting scarier, you know, all over the place. So anyway, let's move on to the Chicago Bears who have had sort of a at least according to critic or according to like an analyst has been sort of an up and down. But for me, I feel like they've had a really, really good draft. ⁓ So starting off the rip, right? You know, they had to address some some concerns with players that they lost this offseason. know, Jaquan Briskier ended up going over to Pittsburgh. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: They end up losing a couple of guys on the defensive end, they all went out and addressed a lot of those right off the rip. know, you lose a safety, you pick up a safety, you pick up Dylan Thien, man out of Oregon. He was probably one of the best safeties in the one of the smartest safeties, that's for sure. Very, very good. ⁓ Just reading plays and that sort of stuff is going to be sort of their quarterback on the defensive side of the thing. So I really liked that pick right off the rip. They went in. grabbed Logan Jones out of Iowa, a center for the future that is 100 percent a lock pick for them. So I do think with them losing some of the guys that they lost this offseason, especially because, you know, you had some random retirements and that sort of stuff, especially on the offensive line. They also did grab Garrett Bradbury this offseason. But whether it's shifting one of those guys to a guard position or, you know, vice versa, I mean, they have a great player now in Logan Jones who can step in as a day one starter. Sam Roush, fantastic grab. A lot of people are pointing to the fact that this might spell the end for a guy like Colkomet because you already had Colson Loveland picked in the first one last year, but Sam Roush is another really, really good receiving tight end. But most importantly, also a very good blocking tight end. So that's the main main thing that he will usurp probably what Colkomet does because Colkomet is kind of a meh bolt. Both of those things. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: ⁓ And now, you know, with Ben Johnson utilizing the offense that he wants to utilize, you'll have two very, very talented tight ends in this offense. Xavier and Thomas out of LSU wide receiver, another speedster, another guy who can kind of go up and get it for you. Five, 10, 190. So, you know, he's got the measurables of a wide receiver in this in this league, and they got him at the end of the third round. So it's a great grab for them. And then, of course, Malik Mohammed out of Texas cornerback, a very good value pick because he was not expected to fall this far. they end up getting him there. I think you just make the best pick at that position. Boog, the Chicago Bears, they're obviously leading that division. And as we'll see in just a little bit, you know, one of those teams that should be contending this year. So what do think about their draft so far? Thoughts and opinions? Jared Shirai: Yes. I mean, you said it perfectly addressing the things that you needed to address safety center. I mean, center of the future. I think the biggest they get for me is Sam Rausch. ⁓ Yes. Co-Comet was there, but Loveland kind of overtook that spot. Then you get another guy who can do both of what you want as a tight end. Comet's still young, but you can probably still get good value for him as you trade him out in a trade piece. So for me, like, I love it. I love how, you know, they're looking forward to the future and they got Loveland and him in like back-to-back drafts. And I think that's going to be phenomenal moving forward. You get Damian Thomas who kind of fills the void of DJ, DJ Moore. Keoni McKeague: ⁓ yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Jared Shirai: I think that's going to be one of the biggest things, ⁓ like the deep threat and whatnot, giving ⁓ Caleb a little bit more of a... ⁓ an option, not just to have Luther Burden and whatnot. So I do love what they're doing in that regard. And then you show up the defense side of the ball, which is the secondary is always going to be one of the biggest things. I feel like they're good trenches teams, like getting deeper and more deadly in the secondary is where they're going to need to address as well. But ⁓ I wouldn't be surprised if they do pick up another frontline guy just to make sure like everything is. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: Like you said, this draft isn't the greatest draft for anything, but it'll be a good depth draft. And I think that's where they'll find their depth pieces in the later rounds. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yeah, I definitely think that they hit very well with the first two picks. ⁓ For the late third and then the fourth round pick, mean, of course, that's speaking to the fact that it is like kind of a mid round anyway. But I was just like just the fact that they kind of went for ⁓ positions that weren't really necessary, I guess, for their team. ⁓ You know, they have a pretty good wide receiver room. But I do think Xavier and Thomas probably comes in as a special teamer because Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: They do really like him as a returner. I'm assuming that's going to be where he's going to be at. Malik Mohammed, I agree with you. They needed secondary help. So getting anything out of that position, I think just the way that the draft fell, ⁓ they needed to graph, grab who they could and great value grabbing him that late. But all things told, yeah, man, the Bears on the upswing, bro. I was like, that's a that's a scary team looking at. ⁓ Next is a team that probably needed the most help and did not get a lot of it. I mean, they. Jared Shirai: Yeah. Yes. Keoni McKeague: They do have a couple of really good picks in this draft, but, you know, naturally, when a team doesn't have very many draft picks, you let Trey Hendrickson walk this offseason. I mean, there's a lot of things that you need to address and there's going to be a lot of, there's going to be a lot heaped onto the shoulders of their first pick in the second round, which was Cassius Howell out of Texas A ⁓ And we are talking about the Cincinnati Bengals. ⁓ but yes, and they did grow an edge that can probably usurp. What TJ or excuse me, Well, why did I just forget his name? What is his first name? Why can't I think of this? Is it Ted? Jared Shirai: Hendrickson. Wait, tree? Keoni McKeague: Trey Hendrickson my gosh. I was like, did I just I well I just had them. I just had the biggest brain fart ever. I was like, how did I just forget his name after I just say this. I was like, what? Yeah, that was like anyway. yeah, exactly. So Trey Hendrickson after losing him this offseason, you get a guy who is not Jared Shirai: was like, I was like, wait, what? I was so confused and I thought you were talking about somebody else. He said TJ and I was like, wait, are we talking about the same person? Yeah, TJ Watt, yeah, TJ Watt, yeah. Keoni McKeague: who doesn't profile to be what Trey Hendrickson is, because I do believe Trey Hendrickson is more of an edge setter. You're getting a guy in Cassius Howell who is more of a get, go out and get it type of guy. ⁓ But you had to get somebody, right? You had to get somebody to address that. And I think they got great value with Cassius Howell out of Texas A ⁓ in the second round. They went out and picked T'Kario Davis out of Washington. He's a big bodied ⁓ corner. I think that's why you go out and grab a guy who's 6'3 at the corner position, but Jared Shirai: Yeah. Yeah. Keoni McKeague: To be completely fair, that felt like a little bit of a reach, but you know, maybe they see something. But then again, this is the Cincinnati Bengals we're talking about. So I don't really trust their scouting department for picking great players at those positions. this was a sneakily improved secondary last year. So we'll see how it works out for them this year. Connor Liu was probably their biggest grab in the fourth round out of Auburn Center. He's a big dude, 6-3 with 3-10. ⁓ But he can be sort of their center of the future. And I think that he is great value for them at that pick, especially because he fell so far from where they were expecting him to go. And then, of course, they went on and got another receiver because why not add to the room of. Crazy paid receivers that you have already with, you know, your two boys over there, Jamar Chase and the T Higgins. Now you get Kobe Young in their 64 to 18 out of Georgia, a possession guy. But, know. Jared Shirai: Hehehehe Keoni McKeague: Kind of a luxury. So it seemed like a weird pick for them to go grab him. But all things so, you know, I guess why not add to the riches, I guess. But anyway, book thoughts and opinions on the Bengals drop so far. Jared Shirai: I mean, I am not the biggest fan of it. If this is probably the first you might say I'm not the biggest fan of. think I love the the the get of Connor Liu center of the future coming off an injury though. So at least in the first like Keoni McKeague: Nope. Yep. Mm-hmm. Jared Shirai: year, he probably won't get a whole lot of playing time, but at least you have somebody who is reliable and that despite his injury, he has shown to be a good centerfold for your offensive line. But going out and get a receiver, mind boggling to me when you know that the biggest thing that they need to address is their defense. Like I wouldn't have been surprised if they just went out and got four defensive players in their first four picks. Getting the center, yes, it's super understandable, but like an edge, a cornerback and then going back to the trenches or even a linebacker here would have been something that I would address or maybe even trade up for something like that just because like. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: The worst part about the Cincinnati Bengals last year was their defense. And the fact that you're not really addressing it, it makes it a little tough in that regard. So for me, like, I love how they got Cassius Hollow, a great value bet, a value bet, great value get for ⁓ where they drafted in the, because they didn't have a first round pick. But at the end of the day too, like if you don't have a first round pick, you got to spend your second and thirds. Keoni McKeague: You Yeah. Jared Shirai: like trying to build from that middle out. And I don't think they did that in this draft for me at least. I mean, like I said, offensively, riches get richer, you got your center of the future, but I would have loved to see them do more on the defensive side of ball. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yeah, so far I agree wholeheartedly. This is a D draft for me for the Cincinnati Bengals. You had a lot of ⁓ like needs to address. You needed a corner, but you also needed a corner that was at the right value. You picked to Cario Davis, who wasn't expected to be a guy until like the third day, second, sixth round type of talent. ⁓ So that didn't really make sense at all. You know what I mean? ⁓ I really do like Cassius Howell. I really do like Connor Liu. Jared Shirai: Yeah. Yeah. Keoni McKeague: But yeah, again, Kobe Young, another pick you didn't need to make. They whiffed on so many players that they could have had in some of these rounds, in some of these drafts, or in some of these, yeah, in some of these rounds. They could have even traded back and got a couple more picks, that was in the fourth or the fifth. And the way things are playing out, you could have addressed the needs that you had later in the draft because some of the value guys are falling. I just, this is a terrible front office. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: Cincinnati, Joe Burrow. I'm so sorry, man. You're going to be having to deal with a team that's trash this year. So, you know, good luck. And as we're about to talk about, there's another team that had a much better draft right after you guys. And that is the Cleveland Browns. I cannot believe I'm saying this, but they have been making value pick after value pick after value pick. And they traded up to make the ones that they want to grab. A lot of guys were falling to them. Jared Shirai: Yeah, crazy. Bye. Keoni McKeague: I think they've had one of the best drafts, if not the best draft in the entire NFL so far. But let's start off with the off the rip pick number one. They ended up grabbing Spencer Fondle at the ninth pick out of Utah offensive tackle will be their tackle for the future. Great value for them right there off the rip. Then they went and grabbed Casey Concepcion at the 24th pick out of Texas A ⁓ a wide receiver, many regarded as one of the best ⁓ in this draft. but seemingly always kept falling down, sort of the mock drafts leading up into the draft. Then they went on and got Denzel Boston in the second round ⁓ out of Washington, a wide receiver that was ranked as the third best receiver in this draft. So now you got two stud receivers being added to this wide receiver room. Who's throwing to them? We don't know yet, but anyway, ⁓ he's 6'3, 2'12 out of the Washington system, which has been, you know. really bringing out a lot of very, very good wide receivers in the last few years. Then they went and traded back into the second round so that they could grab Emmanuel McNeil Warren out of Toledo. The safety that I can't believe kept falling through the second round. ⁓ They stopped that fall by trading up to grab him. I thought there was a good chance like maybe the Steelers might try to snag him, all that sort of stuff. But yeah, he's a really, really good safety out of Toledo. think that's. their safety of the future 6 3 2 0 1. I he's got all the measureables. He is really, really good. ⁓ And he was seen as probably the second or third best safety in this draft. So grabbing him in the late second crazy. They went out and grab Austin Barber just more depth for that offensive line. But he's a big hit. Six, seven, three, 18 out of Florida, adding to a very, very, you know, much improved already offensive line, which we talked about in the offseason. They went in. Jared Shirai: Sure. Keoni McKeague: Got a lot of pieces this offseason and then on top of that, they go out and grab Parker Brailsford, a center out of Alabama. This was a guy that I feel like they just had to pick because he kept falling. It makes a ton of sense, though, because now you have whether it's for depth or for just, you know, having a future offensive line. mean, now you have three guys in this in this one draft that can possibly start for you day one. But you add that to a room that you had already improved like a Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: ton throughout the process during this off season. And then they go and grab the other Justin Jefferson. We're not going to say. Yeah, not going to say, but he is one of the best tacklers in this draft out of Alabama in the fifth round. So you can't really complain. mean, just just for me, this is just an A plus draft for them. They address many of the needs. I will say the one thing I'm surprised that they didn't grab, even though I guess technically they don't need it is Jared Shirai: Nah, they got the other dresser, Jeffrey, you see, Keoni McKeague: quarterback, I mean, you know, as far as like they have three technically quarterbacks on their team that, you know, but anyway, ⁓ book thoughts and opinions on the Cleveland Browns draft so far. Jared Shirai: Yeah. I mean, this is doing the draft properly and correctly. Everything that they needed to ⁓ address, we all knew was on the offensive side of the ball. We all knew because they were one of the best defenses in the league, led by Myles Garrett. I mean, yes, they went and they got a safety pick up the secondary. Great. You pick up, like you said, one of the best tacklers in Justin Jefferson, just to add to that linebacker room. But. Keoni McKeague: Yep, bangles. Jared Shirai: For me, everything that they needed to address was on the offensive side of the ball. Getting the best offensive lineman ⁓ that was available at the time and in Fano. And that's just going to provide ultimate protection for them ⁓ where they needed to help him and us and Barber. ⁓ Barber is like such a great value pick. They help. Keoni McKeague: Yeah, agree. Jared Shirai: settled the line. ⁓ You said Parker Bracefield, kind of fell. So you kind of had to take him there. But it's like the center of the future. Amazing. And that'll help. That's where you want to address. And then we talked about the wide receiver room in the offseason and how it was non-existent. And then you went and got Concepcion and Boston here. And I think that's two phenomenal gets that is just only going to add to like bigger weapons who could probably usurp people as they go through the season. So this for me, like I agree, A +, they address everything they need to address. Yes, we want a quarterback, but it is what it is. think you think the protection that you provide and the weapons that you're giving, I think that's more important when you have three. possible quarterbacks at the end of the day rather than trying to build around a court like draft the quarterback early to build around them though because Who's gonna do what for you when you already don't have anything on that side of the ball? So I think they're doing they're doing it right. This is a GM's can take note of like addressing things that your team really needs rather than just Going down and get who you actually want. So I love what the Browns are doing, man Keoni McKeague: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. ⁓ yeah. I will say there was a little bit of a what do they call it like colluding going on. I got to feel like because Todd Munkin, who was who is the head coach of the Cleveland Browns now, was also on the staff of John Harbaugh when he was with the Baltimore Ravens. I feel like there was a little bit of colluding because, you know, they traded some picks so that they could trade up ahead of some of these other teams, including the Steelers. But, you know, I'm just saying, you know. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: former head coach, former assistant coach, making trades and stuff, but whatever. ⁓ But I will say, yeah, fantastic draft. And I do like what you said. This is the type of draft you have so that you can insulate around whatever QB you're using. This is a prove it year for, know, Shazer Sanders, who I'm assuming is gonna be their day one starter this year. ⁓ Because if not, they already built Jared Shirai: You Keoni McKeague: for this very deep quarterback class next year. They can go out and get themselves their quarterback of the future in what is supposed to be a very, very deep quarterback draft and add to this team that now has all of the insulation around him. They have a fantastic defense. They'll have very good offensive linemen. And of course, now they have one of the best wide receiver rooms out there. Boogie muted. I don't know what you said. Jared Shirai: Just gotta figure out who's gonna throw that ball, man. Keoni McKeague: Yeah, exactly. That's what I'm saying. So that's why I said if they insulate themselves, if whether Chidora has a great year this year or they just wait to grab somebody next year. I mean, this this is a ready built team for whoever is coming in. So. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Steps in definitely in the right direction on the offensive side of ball. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. And what I mean, there's some fantasy impacts that I feel like are the opposite way. But, know, as far as the team, as far as the team, this is great for them. So let's move on to the Dallas Cowboys, who I cannot believe I'm saying this, but also had one of the better drafts this year. ⁓ They got probably the best value pick in pick or in round one with Caleb Downs falling to them at pick 11. I ⁓ do believe they actually traded up to snag him there because ⁓ Jared Shirai: Yeah. Mm-hmm, I agree. Yes, they did. From Miami. Keoni McKeague: There were a couple of picks back. But yes, they did get the safety of the future and probably the I mean, if you look at his grip, he's probably the best player in this entire draft was definitely touted to be that guy. And they got him at pick 11, which I. So happy for those cowboys, you know, but anyway, they get a great player in Caleb Downs, probably the best guy. And they needed a safety. So that was fantastic value for them. Then they go out and get Malachi Lawrence out of UCF in the first round as well. ⁓ This is a guy that was probably one of those best kept secret type of guys because he was one of those players that was going to sit there and you're hoping that he keeps falling and keeps falling. But clearly they did their scouting. They found themselves a fantastic edge setter ⁓ over there out of UCF. And then they went again and kind of added a more of a project pick with the third round because I don't think that he was he was slated to go very high in J. Sean Barnum. But, you know, out of Michigan, I still think a really, really good player, but a little bit more raw compared to some of the other guys that they drafted here. They grabbed Drew Shelton, a tackle out of Penn State, who, you know, with sort of Vega, Yohane was, you know, a very, very good offensive lineman. Great value for them in the fourth round. Devin Moore out of Florida. Corner that slid a little bit too, but he's a big dude 6 3 198 That's great size for a corner position and then one of the I think probably their biggest value in this entire draft was grabbing LT Overton out of Alabama who I do feel Wasn't supposed to fall this far they end up getting him in the fourth round And when you're coming out of Alabama, I mean, that's a great great grab for you. So book thoughts opinions What do you think about their draft so far? Jared Shirai: I mean, I think, ⁓ like you said, Dallas actually did it right as well. ⁓ We know what they can do on the offensive side of the ball. Very potent offense, pretty good offensive line out that side. Just adding Drew Shelton to it. Like you talked about how him and Vega were kind of the setters for that Penn State team. Getting a great guy on that offensive line is great. But the biggest address was when they let Michael Parsons go, yes, they got some good value. Like we always say, they won the draft, but there were still a lot to be addressed on the defensive side of the ball. And they really went out and got it in this draft. Keoni McKeague: Mm-hmm. Jared Shirai: ⁓ They picked up three edges, a quarterback and the best safety or the best, like you said, the best possible player on the defensive side of ball in Caleb Downs. And I mean, man, this is, I hate to say it because it's Dallas, but this is might be one of the scariest teams like on both sides of the ball as we move into this new season. Keoni McKeague: I agree. Jared Shirai: with the amount of picks that they had and how spread the picks were like what two in the first round and a third, three in the fourth and then the next round is the seventh where it's probably going to be a depth piece. But I mean, everything that they did, they traded up to do or. Keoni McKeague: I'm predicting a wide receiver in the seventh round because I think they do need to address that position with George Pickens still in that weird, like, I don't know if he's going to play. They're definitely dealing with like a headache that is, you know, as a Steeler fan, weird to know about, but with his contract situation. So we'll see how that plays out. There was a lot of talks about them trading him leading up to the draft. If he didn't sign that tender for the. ⁓ Jared Shirai: A wide receiver? I can see that. the franchise tag. Keoni McKeague: Yeah franchise tag so we'll see you know what I mean I think but Jared Shirai: I think that's not a bad ⁓ shout to just be safe about it in that regard. Exactly. But yeah, mean, phenomenal. They definitely shored up that defensive side of ball and I love it. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Just get a depth piece somewhere, yeah. Just so they have somebody there to develop. Yeah, agree wholeheartedly. mean, this I mean, they needed to make some good picks and they definitely did. I think getting Caleb Downs was the steal of the entire draft shot at the Dallas Cowboys for making the move. I can't believe I'm saying that. But anyway, let's move on to the Denver Broncos, who again, this is another one of those teams didn't have very many picks. They had to wait two whole rounds in order to, you know, draft their first one. But they did get Tyler Onyedim out of. ⁓ Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Yeah. You Keoni McKeague: Texas A &M, defensive tackle, 6'3", 292, you know what mean? Solid prospect, but of course, you know, when you're having to wait this long to get somebody in the third round, I mean, it's a project for sure. Jonah Coleman out of Washington was probably maybe the, know, I want to put him in maybe the third best running back in this entire draft. So they did get somebody that can kind of develop behind RJ Harvey and J.K. Dobbins. We'll see how that rotation works out. You know, I think they also had Jaleel McLaughlin still there. ⁓ But I do I do think that Jonah Coleman is better than Jaleel. And I think that there's a chance that if J.K. Dobbins doesn't return fully to form, you could have a tandem here with R.J. Harvey and Jonah Coleman. So that is something to like about their team here. They did get Casey out of Boise State offensive tackle. I think this was a great, great pick for them. As you kind of hear. Jared Shirai: Yeah, he's still there. Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: Most of the offensive linemen in this draft when they fall pretty far that are supposed to go a lot earlier. I mean, they're great, great, great gets because this is one of the deepest classes for that. So cage Casey was a really, really great fine for them in the fourth round. And then of course, Justin Jolie tight end out of NC state. you know, they, they kind of wanted to find somebody else to add to this tight end room, especially with, ⁓ what is his name? Not being great last year. ⁓ geez. Jared Shirai: Ingo Menchart Men. ⁓ Keoni McKeague: Evan Ingram, I was like, he wasn't very, good last year. You wanted to add somebody to that room. ⁓ This was a tight end, you know, draft. So it wasn't surprising that they added him. All things told, though, you know, I will give this sort of a ⁓ meh to low grade because they addressed some needs. Sure. But this wasn't like a great draft for them so far. And of course, they didn't have much to improve. They were the first in the AFC West last year. So obviously they didn't have a lot to address and they were going to not have very many picks with some of the stuff they've done the last few years. But yeah, anyway, book thoughts and opinions on the Denver Draft. Jared Shirai: I mean, I agree with you wholeheartedly when it comes to like defensive tackle project. It's fine because like you said, first two rounds you didn't really have. So the first thing you're going to take is like something on that side of the ball that kind of they need to address something great to work with, especially with the players around the veteran pieces that can help develop this kid. Jenna Coleman, I kind of agree because like JK Dobbin is coming off that injury. We won't know if he's coming back to form. R.J. Harvey kind of like Isn't the RB1 like do it all that you want that needs a little help? And I think Jonah Coleman here, like you said, he's well, I mean. There wasn't a whole lot of running backs in this in this class, but being that he fell all the way to the fourth round and for you to be able to grab him and he can comp him very well, I think he agrees better than Julian Lofven. And that's why I think Denver agrees as well. That's why they went out and got him to help in that regard to add to that room. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: ⁓ Showing up the offensive line in the sense of the help that you want for Bo Nix so he doesn't have to run so that he can throw a little more. know, we know he loves to slang it and the more time you give him to do it. And then Justin Jolly, like they said, I was kind of like reading up on him. I love it. I love that they went and got a tight end because Ingram did not have one. The only thing that worries me about Justin Jolly is his blocking. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: I think that's the one thing that everybody kind of like was talking about. Like he's a good offensive person, but as a tight end, like. Is he going to be able to give you time? Is he going to be able to do the job at the next level? Because I feel like he hardly did it at the college level. how is it going to be like trying to fight off defensive edges and whatnot in that regard? So I think for me, that's going to be the biggest thing. I think for, all honesty, the hoping Evan returns to farm and it gives this kid a year, maybe two years to like grow in the... Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yeah, though yeah. Exactly. Yeah. Jared Shirai: blocking side of things and then the speed part of just getting used to that FL side of things. So I'm not too mad about it. mean, it's better. I think it's still better than what Cincinnati did. If Cincinnati is the line of how bad a draft is. Yeah, I think they're still doing better than them. Keoni McKeague: Mm-hmm. Yeah, the baseline for how bad it can be. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, all things told, it wasn't a great draft, but, you know, not a lot of draft capital. But again, they were one of the better teams last year, so they didn't really need to address too much. But let's move on to the Detroit Lions who are, you know, we've talked about it. They're one of those faltering teams. They were the fourth in their division last year. They went nine and eight last year. So they had a lot of needs to address. Jared Shirai: Yeah. I agree. Keoni McKeague: They were dealing with injuries, but as that's the case for this team forever and always, they're always dealing with injuries on paper. I feel like they have one of the best teams, but you know, in real life, they seemingly can't put it all together or stay healthy enough to put it all together. ⁓ But anyway, they went on to adjust some needs. They went and got Clemson offensive tackle Blake Miller in the first round. But that was a place that they needed to address, you know, with the retirement of some of the guys. They lost another one this offseason. I mean, Jared Shirai: Yeah. Yeah. Keoni McKeague: Something that they needed to grab and they went on and got themselves a stud. He's a big boy out of Clemson and now they have somebody who can start for them day one, which is great. ⁓ He'll be setting that that edge for them. So hopefully they can kind of, you know, get that offense going again, because as we kind of saw this last year, they fell back a little bit as far as progressing. They went on and got edge Derek Moore out of Michigan, six, four to twenty or two fifty five. Excuse me. Out of Michigan. I feel like. Jared Shirai: you Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: That's great value, especially in the second round. He was really, really good, really productive in college. Somebody that I think they can kind of add to this room. I mean, their depth is pretty deep there. So it was a little confusing that they went out and grabbed him. But it makes sense for the future. And if there is going to be some movement along there or better yet injuries, that sort of stuff, you get a guy who can kind of still step in as a starter if you need him to be. But we'll see how that plays out. They got Jimmy Roeder, linebacker out of Michigan, 62238. This guy is a... I feel like he's really good tackler, ⁓ but it does feel like one of those things where they maybe needed other positions here. So that was the only thing that was a little confusing for me to get a guy like Jimmy Roelder here in the fourth round. I mean, there's if especially if you're watching the draft, there's a lot of guys who are falling that made a lot more sense for me. But I mean, cool. You got yourself another linebacker to add to this room. Keith Abney was probably the best ad here in the fifth round. Jared Shirai: Hmm. Keoni McKeague: ⁓ somebody who was supposed to be a second round guy, ⁓ kept falling, kept falling, kept falling. And now he's here for them in the fifth round. I'm not entirely sure besides the length issues, why he fell so far, but you know, you get a guy, Keith Abney out of Arizona state, a corner that can really develop for them and somebody that can add to a room that was very injured just last these last couple of years. I mean, they have very good players in that room. You know, Kirby, Joseph, Terry, and Arnold, Brian branch, but Jared Shirai: Thank Keoni McKeague: Can they stay healthy? Keith Abney helps with that. So great pickle for them in that later round. But both thoughts and opinions on the Detroit line so far. Jared Shirai: mean, first pick amazing. think it's really, like you said, with the retirement, the need to address the offensive line, that's great. And getting Blake Miller, I think that's a great get for them. Great Valley pick as well as like, he's, he'll be good. Like you said, day one starter, step into the role. He'll be good. He'll just got to get to the speed of the game. ⁓ For me, Derek Moore, like you said, it is a little bit. Keoni McKeague: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Jared Shirai: Interesting that they went out and got Derek Moore because there is a lot of depth at that position. I would have loved to see like a tackle here. ⁓ Like in the next two picks actually in their second and fourth round pick, I would have loved to just see them show up the trenches part of things because they have Hutchinson, they have other like people on the edges that can. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. ⁓ Jared Shirai: can move around and do things, but it's that trenches that kind of they need to not just shore up as well as add depth to because people get injured and whatnot. So and then like you said, Abney, great, great, great value pick at that point because he was supposed to go earlier. I agree his size and his length issues are kind of like kind of questionable for me just because he is a little smaller, a little short armed, you know, but I do think it's something that they did need to address. So the fact that he fell all the Keoni McKeague: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Jared Shirai: to them. I can see why they took the chance on him because he was projected to go what third round fourth round. So I mean the fact that he fell to the fifth round it's like he's there we have to take him we need to address his position as well so I think that's why they go and they reach for that as well so. Keoni McKeague: Yeah, I was like all think told they still have some needs to address but mostly health man. They just need to be healthy. Otherwise, you know, what are we doing here with the Detroit Lions? Yeah. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Yeah. At least they four picks still yet. mean, that's the beauty of it. They're one of the teams with a good amount of picks where I think they have eight in this draft. Keoni McKeague: A lot of pics, yeah. They can definitely address the injury concerns by drafting some depth here. Yeah, for sure. Agree wholeheartedly. ⁓ The Green Bay Packers up next. I mean, this is one of those teams that had some needs, but mostly, you you noticed when Mike Parsons went down, you needed some help on the defensive end there. But, you know, I think they went out and did exactly that. The first two picks, I think, were absolute stud finds. You know what I mean? Jared Shirai: Yeah, exactly. Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: ⁓ Brandon Cease out of South Carolina was to me one of the best corners in this draft. ⁓ I really really liked what he did in college and I think that coming out of South Carolina that's a guy that can kind of do a lot of things for you. I think getting Brandon Cease here tail end of the second round was really really good value for them. They went and got Chris McClellan out of Missouri who was another really good defensive tackle somebody that I had high on my board picking up players wise but ⁓ I just really, really like his versatility. He's also a big body dude and he's out of Missouri, which I feel like they always produce really great players, especially in the trenches. So that was a great snag for them. And as we saw this last year, that was a position I was hurting them. They needed to address it. They found a guy with great value in the third round. Danny Dennis Sutton out of Penn State, an edge setter for them. Somebody who adds depth to this room that has Michael Parsons already, obviously, so they'll be trying to figure out. If he can play on the opposite side of Michael Parsons, but we'll see where he fits in here because I do know that they have some good players along that line as well. So a lot of guys who can do a lot of things for them. But that was a position of need because they did have some depth issues when Michael went down. And then Jaeger Burton out of Kentucky, a big bodied center again, very deep center class made a lot of sense for them to go grab somebody that can help Jordan love a little bit more, get a little bit more time. I really like the development. told part of a guy in the fifth round for this. great pick for them. Boog, thoughts and opinions on the Green Bay Packers draft so far. Jared Shirai: Honestly, I agree 100 % with you on everything. Like the center, like the depth piece of the growth piece is going to be great. And then the biggest thing was like when Michael Parsons went down, they traded all those players for him. And now they're readdressing the fact that we need to fill the void because he did go down and we struggled and they went out and they got McClennan and Dennis Sutton to help fill the voids as well. So, I mean, I love it. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Jared Shirai: I love what they did. I think I love more about they didn't teams that don't have a first round draft pick to watch how they draft the rest of the draft. I think that's one of the biggest things in how they address and what they do with their picks. And I think they did it right here. They went exactly what they need to do. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: We sucked on defense when Michael went down. We addressed the first three picks with that. And then we bolstered the offensive line. It's not just a project. Or if we need a little bit help to move people around, then that gives Jordan Love way more time. And we know how deadly Jordan Love can be with time. So I think they're doing it right as they move forward with the first four picks that they were allowed to have. Keoni McKeague: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I agree. Hardly. was like this great values for what you had great job by that ⁓ front office finding their value guys. But moving on to the Houston Texans, one of the best defenses in the league. Clearly, that was not their fault. You know, that was not the reason that they got bounced in the playoffs. They had a lot of needs to address on the offensive end, and they did exactly that during this draft. So start off with pick number one at 26th. Jared Shirai: Yep. Keoni McKeague: Overall, they grabbed Kailin Rutledge out of Georgia Tech, a guard who was... I just feel like power is the best way to describe this kid. ⁓ And especially when you need somebody in the guard position, that's something that you really, really, really want to grab. So that was a great gift for them at pick 26. ⁓ Yeah. Then they went out and got somebody who in the second round, I feel like shouldn't have been in the second round, but they ended up getting him. And of course, it adds to the... Jared Shirai: Hahaha Keoni McKeague: just a litany of riches that they have on the defensive end, but they grabbed Kaden McDonald out of Ohio State, a tackle who will absolutely stop the run for them like they needed any more help on the defensive end. But they went out and got a stud at that position. They got Marlon Klein out of Michigan. The reason why this is a really great Valley pick for them is because Marlon Klein is a really good blocker. He's basically having another offensive lineman and you need that because your team was trash in that statistic. So ⁓ You move on to their fourth round pick because they didn't have a third rounder. They got offensive guard out of Oklahoma for Becky. You know, why you, this is more of a project pick, you know, he had a lot of, ⁓ production in college as far as like, you know, being able to do what you want at the guard position. But I will say, you know, this is going to take some time. He's more of a depth piece, not necessarily a day one starter, ⁓ like Kaylin Rutledge is. So, you know, Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: But either way, they needed that depth. They did address a lot of that during the offseason by, you know, signing a couple guys and trading for a couple guys. But this is a guy they really desperately needed. Then you move on to Wade Wooders, the Clemson linebacker, 6'3", 236. Just a lot of good IQ plays out of him. I think that's one of the things that stands out when you talk about Wade. But most importantly, just adding to the litany of riches. And then, of course, The biggest value pick, I think, for them was getting USC's Kamari Ramsey. The safety. I cannot fathom how this guy fell to the fifth round. To me, he was very, very productive on a very good team. So it's kind of just crazy that he fell all the way this far. But I do really like Kamari Ramsey. And I thought they got just like again, litany of riches for this team all over here in the fifth round. So both thoughts and opinions on the Houston Texans draft. Jared Shirai: For me, I agree. Defensive side of the ball, I'm not going to talk a bunch about just because they were already so ridiculous and for them to add these players just makes, like you said, riches get richer and it just adds way more depth to an already insane defensive team. But I do love what they did on the offensive side of the ball getting retledged. Like we said, their offensive line was trash and they went on and got the best available. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: offensive lineman there in Rutledge to help shore it up. ⁓ They put two there and then they had Klein. Klein was such a great piece. We already know what Dalton Schultz does. He's going to your offensive tight end. He's probably second best receiver on that team. He's going to be the offensive threat. But to get a great blocking person in Marlon Klein, I think that's phenomenal. ⁓ Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: They needed that's the only position that I would love for them to keep showing up on is offensive line, getting a center, getting another tackle. Like I don't care about the defensive side of ball right now. I think once they, they get their value picks on that front line, then the then CJ Schart has no, no excuses. And if he can't do it, we all know Davis Mills can. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I think there's. I think that, you know, the way the draft felt, they had to draft the guys that they did, but I also think that there's a chance maybe they try to convert Kailin Rutledge into center because he is, you know, he's six, four, got a lot of power. That could be something they try to do. But I hope that they just keep him at guard because he is so good at the position and then maybe find somebody who's sliding down the draft with some of these other picks that they have. But anyway, let's move on to the Indianapolis Colts. Jared Shirai: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: You know, I This is a kind of whatever draft for me for them, but they did get some solid players in here They got CJ Allen out of Georgia a linebacker who? ⁓ Is kind of a side-to-side guy so that I really did like that ⁓ They comped him to a Roquan Smith So makes it sound a sense because he is kind of a coverage guys coming out of Georgia That's you know, that all makes sense. They got AJ Halsey who I do really like a safety out of LSU Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: Another one of those guys that slid and fell into their lap. that's great pick for them. Jalen Farmer, a guard out of Kentucky, actually, you not a blick in it. It was a pretty good job for them, but ⁓ they did. They didn't need to address some needs there on the offensive line. They did that with Farmer. think that he's a big body dude out of Kentucky. You already know that they can play really well. Bryce Bodeker, the linebacker. This was probably not a position of need necessarily, especially when you grab CJ Allen earlier on. Jared Shirai: You Yeah. Keoni McKeague: And then of course George comes junior the edge out of Florida 64 245 There's some project picks in here. You know what mean? This is a team that does I mean to be completely fair They really really needed to hit on some of these picks Especially considering where they're gonna be with the quarterback position and some of other stuff if they really want to return to relevancy as far as competing this year, I Don't think they made all the right moves, but both thoughts and opinions on the end up as close so far Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. First three picks I love, like getting Allen there, great value pick. think that's phenomenal. Halsey as well at safety from LSU, know, like those two guys really help the defense in addressing things that need to be addressed. Farmer, like you said, it really helps both of that offensive line, you know, the Kentucky boys are big. They take care of their frontline side of things. But yeah, the last two kind of for me, I would have loved to see them Keoni McKeague: Mm-hmm. Jared Shirai: go back to the offensive line at least one. then of course, I mean, with the departure of what's his name, Pitman. With Pitman leaving, I would have loved for them to just pick up a wide receiver there as well. think those two picks for me would have been wide receiver, offensive line, rather than go back to the defensive side of the ball, the linebacker edge. You can always... ⁓ Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yeah, Pittman, yeah. Yeah. Jared Shirai: If you're picking a project edge, I feel like you can find them in the late rounds. But if you know you want your offensive line to be like, hold it down, which they need with a quarterback like Daniel Jones, should that be their quarterback. ⁓ Keoni McKeague: Yes. Mm-hmm. Jared Shirai: I think that's where you got to start and then you give him another target because he lost the target. So for me, like that would be the first two things that I would have loved to see rather than going back to the, but the first picks, like I love those first three picks I was talking about. I think they addressed it really well in those three because of the value that they were getting those guys at. But moving forward, I think they should have went wide receiver offensive line. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, agree horribly. That was my exact analysis of the team. I feel like that's a nice address. They haven't really done that, you know. And as we'll see with the other team in their division that is next Jacksonville Jaguars, kind of a similar deal. I don't know what these teams are drafting for or thinking. They're just picking a bunch of random guys. Maybe it's guys they really scouted. I'm not entirely sure. But yeah, moving on to the Jacksonville Jaguars, I'm looking at their picks. Nate Borchacher. I mean, he wasn't even slated to be anywhere near this pick. I don't know why you decide. This is where I get confused to where they like reach on guys who like aren't supposed to be here. You know what mean? Like, even if you really like him, why would you pick him like three or four rounds before he's supposed to get picked? I don't know. That doesn't make any sense to me. So the pickup the Texas A ⁓ tight end, you know, this is Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: I mean, not a great pick right off the rip. I'm just going to put it out there. Then you get Albert Regis, defensive tackle out of Texas, probably their best to pick. ⁓ no, I think they're like their next pick is their best pick ⁓ with Emmanuel Pregnan. I really like him. That was a guy that I really liked coming into this draft and ⁓ is one of the better offensive guards to me at this value, especially they got him really, really good value. I thought the Steelers might pick him in the second round. They didn't. So this is a guy that ⁓ to me makes a ton of sense for this team. Jared Shirai: Yeah. Keoni McKeague: They want to help out Trevor Lawrence as much as they can. But then the next three picks again, more confusing picks. get Jalen Husky who was not super, super high on the draft board. So why you pick him here? I don't know. Then you go and get Wesley Williams out of Duke. Another one. Why? I don't know. And then Tanner Koizl or Kozio, excuse me. ⁓ I do like him. I do think that's a really great value grab in the fifth round out of Houston tight end 6, 6 to 47. ⁓ he can also, you know, he's a really good receiver receiving threat for them, but you get two tight ends. You get this weird defensive minded draft when you already have a really good defense. I mean, he had some linebacker needs to address, but I just don't understand his team. That was a This was a weird draft for them. I did not like it. So Jacksonville, I'm sorry. That was a, that was a weird draft for you guys. Jared Shirai: No, I 100 % agree. Yeah, taking bargueture, like they said he was supposed to, like he had an 18 % chance of getting drafted. I think that's what is that what I read or something. It was something weird. He was not supposed to. was one. He was 127 on Mel Kipers. And I was like, that's when they said the name. was like, wait, what? And then how to close our like, I think that's awesome. Because like you said, great value pick. It's a developmental part of it. Like you're getting him in the fifth round, right? That made sense to me. But one of the biggest things for me was like Keoni McKeague: Wow. Yeah. Jared Shirai: Maybe you go get a running back or something since you just lost one, you know, especially with that first pick, why would you go get a tight end? Especially a tight end who's like, I just want to show it up to maybe their scout team really, really, really scouted these people that they drafted and. Or they had really good workouts or interviews with them or it has to be something on the backside that nobody sees because I am just. Keoni McKeague: Mm-hmm. Yeah, exactly. Jared Shirai: Like he said, pregnant, great pick. I would have loved to see them pick another offensive guard as well. Like another, or like a center or somebody, like somebody there on the offensive line. Keoni McKeague: Yeah, like, yeah, exactly. or pick somebody who's actually supposed to go in that round. I don't even understand why you're reaching so far for these players. Jared Shirai: Yeah, like look at your best availables and say, Hey, okay, we want to address this position and kind of like look around that area because if these guys aren't even around that area, they'll probably be around for your later picks. And you got like one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10. You have 11 picks in this draft and you probably could have got Borchichur at where you got Tanner. Like literally, and you could have probably picked them back to back if you wanted to, because I doubt anybody would have picked them. You know, it's like. Keoni McKeague: Yeah, exactly. Exactly. What is the what is the value grab here? I don't understand, bro. This is a weird Jeff Jacksonville, bro. Jared Shirai: Yeah, they even said it was a reach. I mean, great. They have just the offensive side of the ball, the sense of an offensive guard, but I don't know what they did with the rest of the draft, man. So they're kind of near Cincinnati for me. They're kind of near Cincinnati for me. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Maybe you just wanted two big bodies. Yeah. Maybe you just wanted two big bodies to block on the tight end side. But I mean, this is just a weird, just such a weird pick for them. ⁓ Anyway, moving on to Kansas City Chiefs. I think they've been having a silently solid draft. mean, they've been getting some very, very good value. They've made a lot of moves. They've been trading and moving and all sorts of stuff. They moved up. Jared Shirai: Yeah. I 100 % agree. Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: and got probably the top prize that they wanted. And I really, really liked this kid is in Mansour Delane out of LSU. ⁓ I think he was the best corner prospect in this entire draft. that was, mean, geez, because you lost, you know, my gosh, why am I just the names are just blanking today. What is who did they trade over to the Los Angeles Rams? Their best corner. Good Lord, what is his name? Jared Shirai: ⁓ my gosh, what's his name? Let me find it. I will find it. Keoni McKeague: My brain is just not working today. I might just Trent McDuffie. There you go. Excuse me. So they traded Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams. They immediately replaced him with Mansour Delaine, who I think might even be better than Trent McDuffie. We'll see. You know what mean? He hasn't entered the professional realm yet, so we'll see how good he is. But then they go in and got Peter Woods out of Clemson. That's to me at the end of the first round. Such a good pickup for them at the tackle position. So Jared Shirai: There you go. Keoni McKeague: Yeah, that was great, great, great, great value for them to show up the trenches even more. So ⁓ our Mason Thomas, he was somebody that I mean, he has all the accolades from the college standpoint. ⁓ He was considered pretty raw heading into the draft. I will say, I mean, you're getting ⁓ any sort of player out of Oklahoma. You know what mean? To me, that makes a ton of sense. That's a great pick up for you guys. I mean, as an edge six to that's I mean, that's. Fantastic grab for them. I think he's very athletic and can develop very well in that system. Jaden Kennedy, the safety out of Oregon. Another guy, more of a project, but fourth round, great value. then Emmett Johnson was their most recent pickup. The running back out of Nebraska. I think that now they traded up with the Pittsburgh Steelers in order to snag this pick. There's a reason, you know what I mean? He's a very, very, very underrated running back prospect in this draft. And I think that He can be somebody that, know, especially with Andy Reed being there and the way that this team is developing, they're going to need him to develop and I think that he can develop for them. thoughts and opinions on this draft. Jared Shirai: No, agree. I mean, they needed to address the McDuffie and whatnot. getting rid of McDuffie was one thing and they did the right thing in training up for Manson Dillane. I saw I love that the fact that they address that part of the things. Peter Woods. mean, for me, the biggest part is the defensive side of the ball. ⁓ They. Addressed a lot and they got a lot deeper in that regard But for me, I feel like getting Emma Johnson and running back in the fifth round. It wasn't something that they technically needed ⁓ We all know the way that Pat Mahomes works and with the wide receiver room and you never know who like I feel Like Hollywood Brown left and a couple others. So for them to go out and get a receiver would have made a lot more sense in that regard. Also with the retirement of Travis Kelsey, you know, it's going to be coming sooner or later. I do think that was one of the biggest things that they did need to address, but moving forward, I feel like the defense only gets stronger. They only get way more. Depth in that regard. So for me, I love what they did on the stopping side of the ball, but on the offensive side of the ball, I have loved, I don't even know why they picked the running back when you just got Kenneth Walker. But as far as anything else, like getting a receiver and all the things like that, I would love to see them get a receiver at or a tight end somewhere in the mix of the things after. So. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yeah. I agree. I agree. And the other part about Emmett Johnson that I feel like is a little funny is that they had Breschard Smith from last year. Feels like sort of a exact match as far as then you had Kenneth Walker added this offseason. So even more so it's like Why did you grab another running back that's going to sit behind? So I agree wholeheartedly. They could have definitely added some stuff on the receiving end of things. But let's move over to the Los Angeles Chargers who did go and grab a key message door in the first round. I picked 22, an edge that was highly touted coming out of Miami. I mean, he's a monster. think that they have a com tears default. I think that's. trash. think he's better than D Ford was but ⁓ anyway, a key message or I think he's he's really, really good got really good motor. really like him as a prospect. So that was a great grab for Los Angeles. Jake Slaughter, probably not only the coolest name, but ⁓ Also one of the best centers in this entire draft. I mean, he's a fantastic grab for Harbaugh. think that's adding him to, you know, a healthier offensive line with Joel Alt coming back and Rashawn Slater coming back. Now you have Jake Slaughter. I mean, you Slaughter, Slater and Alt. mean, you have three guys with some of the coolest names on the offensive line ⁓ ever. So I think Jake Slaughter here was a really, really good grab. They grabbed Brennan Thompson. Jared Shirai: You Keoni McKeague: a speedy wide receiver out of Mississippi State, you know, more of an underrated prospect. But. You know, probably could have went a different direction here, but this was the fourth round, so things had to, you know what I mean, work the way they did in order for them to make the pick that they got. But they did also end up grabbing another big project tackle in Travis Burke. He six, eight, three, twenty five. So, I mean, out of Memphis, I did you grab a guy like that? Yeah, I mean, especially at at. Jared Shirai: It's a big boy. Keoni McKeague: pick four or sorry in the fourth round of the draft. feel like that makes a ton of sense. You're going to grab a it's going to be a lot of projects at that point and he's a big kid ⁓ very raw but has a lot to develop if you can get them developed. Then Genesis Smith. I don't know why safeties are falling in this draft. That was a great grab for them and pick for our excuse me fourth round near the tail end of the round. ⁓ out of Arizona safety that I really, really liked in this draft. So really, really good graph for them. then Nick Barrett, another guy out of South Carolina fell very far, a defensive tackle that is really, really solid. I think he can add to the depth of this defense, ⁓ this defense that, you know, needed some depth. So book thoughts and opinions on the Los Angeles charges thus far. Jared Shirai: I actually love their picks. ⁓ I love them getting Macedor. I love the fact that they got Slaughter because they needed to shore up that offensive line as well. I get why they went under got Thompson because like they didn't need a not just a project but like another young receiver to bring into the room and develop in that regard to give more weapons because ⁓ I feel like the charges they've been they get injured a lot. So like because they get injured like you kind of want those debt pieces in that Keoni McKeague: Yes they do. Jared Shirai: guard. Same thing with Burke, he's a big boy. just, you said it, 6'8", like that's a big kid, 6'8", 3'25", like if you can't teach that separate size, you can coach it and build them from there, so it's great to have. ⁓ Yeah, I have no idea why all the safeties are falling after like downs, everybody's falling basically out of out of where they're supposed to be. I don't know if it's out of necessities or what, but it's crazy because that's just a great Valley pick. I think like for me, one of the biggest things with. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: with what the Chargers did is great because they had a first second round and then so they addressed kind of what they wanted to address in the beginning. And then from there, it's like you said, you waited two rounds to pick a to pick the next pick. So it's all the people that not just developmental, but it kids that you see a lot that you can build and grow and to add depth in those positions. And I think that's what they're doing. So I think they're doing it right for the picks that they have and where they're allowed to pick because of that. That's what they have. But Keoni McKeague: Yes. Mm-hmm. Jared Shirai: For me, I like what they've addressed. I would love to go see them get a tight end though, because I think that's one position that they haven't addressed yet. I would have loved to see them get a tight end probably over Brandon Thompson at that point, just because I feel like, know, got McConkey and what's his name, and Quinton Johnson and Trey Harris and that. like... Keoni McKeague: Yeah, I agree with that one. ⁓ Jared Shirai: You're not having a tight end, whether it's a blocking tight end or even like a receiving tight end. I think that would have helped their offensive line and their offensive game just a little bit more. And then you can address like the Brennan Thompson's or Fistel there at a later draft pick. Keoni McKeague: I also don't like somebody else to be on the opposite of a run that gets in. feel like that would have been somebody, especially with the way the strata was to have that to tight end set. I mean, would have made a lot of sense. But yeah, exactly. So I mean, plus tight ends are so athletic now. It's like they're basically just extra receivers that can also block. So anyway, let's move on to the Rams. Not a lot of picks here. And but they did make one of the more surprising picks in Ty Simpson, the quarterback of the future, I'm assuming, because. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Yeah. I mean, a lot of teams are going to it, right? So. Exactly. Keoni McKeague: They believed him enough to grab him at pick 13. They will develop him behind Matthew Stafford, who for anybody who's lives under a rock yard, know, Matt Stafford is day one starter for this team. Ty Simpson is just there for Sean McVay to mold ⁓ and for him to just grow behind Matthew Stafford seen as a first round talent. So he is picked here. ⁓ I did think it was a little high, but it made sense with the way the rumors were going for that week. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: leading up into the draft cardinals were looking at moving back up into the first round so that they could grab him. So to me, it made a ton of sense that they ended up ⁓ drafting Ty Simpson when they did. They got the guy they wanted, you know, they'll develop and we'll see how that works out for them in the future. But he is projected to be their, you know, future starter for this team. But they went out and got Max Clair, who I feel like was probably the best, one of the better tight ends in this entire draft. I will say it's a little weird because they have so many tight ends on this team. You know what I mean? I do think that they have one of the most ridiculous tight end rooms ever. But again, I mean, unless you're expecting to trade somebody. Now you have Colby Parkinson, you have Tyler Higbee, Terrence Ferguson, and now Max Clair. mean, how many tight ends do you need? You know what mean? Like, and it's four tight ends. Yeah. Jared Shirai: What? Tyler Higbee, Terrence Ferguson. They're just going to throw them all on the field and they're going to be extra blockers for Matt Stafford. ⁓ Keoni McKeague: These are four tight ends that all deserve to play, but I do really like Max Clair. He's really, really good. I think he's a really good receiving prospect too. So that's really nice for them. I just didn't understand them picking him. anyway, Keegan Tross was another grab for them in the third round. That was really solid. Six, five, three, 11 out of Missouri. I mean, you're just getting a big boy who can play tackle for you, whether that's depth or, you know, otherwise I really liked them getting him at that spot. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: They're still waiting for their next four picks in the sixth and seventh round. So it'll take some time before they can add some more depth. I mean, Boog, this is a team that's ready to go. What do think? Jared Shirai: I I have mixed feelings about Ty Sipson just because like I do, know, like Matt Stafford's retiring, you know, this and that, like, yes, you want a quarterback of the future. This is probably Stafford's last year, so he gets a whole year under him. But I feel like with this offense, you could get a quality quarterback to come here and step right into the reins. So having to develop and go through those scoring pains, that's one thing. I would have loved to see them take a wide receiver there just because of the whole Puka Nakua thing. Keoni McKeague: Yeah, I'm in the same. Yeah. Yeah. Jared Shirai: and like the unsure, right? Yeah, you have Devante, but that wide receiver room as far as like ⁓ big depth, like they have good depth, but it's like, do they have quality depth? And like, I'd want like a Makai lemon or somebody there where you can go and get and like ready to go from day one that you can just throw in there should Puka not be able to go. ⁓ So for me, that's the one big thing that I think kind of threw me for a twist and If that that so happened to have happened ⁓ at the number two pick because you don't need a tight end because you already got three good ones, you could have taken a quarterback there or you could have taken or you could have just posted the offensive line by getting tross there and ⁓ maybe picking somebody else or maybe picking in a second receiver there because you want the depth in that regard. it's a little it's like you said, it's. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Jared Shirai: It's tough for me because I know they want to build for the future and they want a young quarterback that McVeigh can mold. But I also think that this is a ready team to go where you want, if we know we're trying to win a Super Bowl this year, like I want players that's ready to get on that field, go and go get it for you from the very beginning. And I think it was very interesting to see their approach through this draft as where it is right now. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yeah, I agree. mean, well, they didn't have many picks, so they didn't have a lot to do. And I agree with the Thai Simpson thing. It was a little bit early for me, but I do think that they grabbed the guy they wanted. And obviously, there was a lot of concern that the Cardinals, who were definitely eyeing a quarterback, wanted to grab him. So, you know, you make the moves you have to with the assets that you have. They weren't going to trade anybody else to get any more picks to move up or, you know, move back into the first round. So it made sense. ⁓ Moving on to the Las Vegas Raiders, who I think, again, another one of those teams that had a very, very good draft. Starting off the rip, of course, pick 101 was Fernando Mendoza, their quarterback of the future. You're getting a guy who will absolutely be put in as day one starter. There's no doubt in my mind that I think even with them signing Kirk Cousins, I just feel like you have to, have to, have to put this kid out there. If they do start Kirk, it's going to be for like two or three games and then you're putting Fernando in there. But on top of that, I think they've been pulling off a fantastic draft. Traden Stukes, their second round pick. The safety out of Arizona can play Nickelback for them. I do really like his speed. That's like the main thing that stands out to you about him coming out of Arizona. I really like his coverage ability and his ability to move all throughout. Jared Shirai: Yeah. Yeah. Keoni McKeague: the secondary there. think that's one of the things that stood out to them. That's one of the things that stands out to me. I really like him there. Karen Crawford out of Auburn and Edge that was that will undoubtedly be the guy that they try to develop alongside the opposite side of Max Crosby so that they can have this really good tandem. But coming out of Auburn, I think he's really, really good and they got great value of him in the third round. Then they went and grabbed Trace Zune, who I feel like was one of the best centers in this draft out of Texas A &M, a big dude, 6'6", 3'12". Has all the prototypical stuff you want out of a center. They grabbed what could possibly be a guy who could move into a guard position if they, I mean, because they already did sign Tyler Lindnerbaum this offseason, but Lindnerbaum and Zune together will be a stupid duel on the inside of this offensive line. Then they went and got Jermon McCoy who was the best corner in the draft. But of course injuries are the reason why he slid so far. He was supposed to go in the first round. He was supposed to be a top 10 pick. Fourth round, the first pick in that round, me, that's fantastic value. If this kid ends up coming back from his injury anywhere near where he was before the injury, you got yourself an absolute stud three rounds later. So that, to me, was one of the best picks, period, in the entire draft. Caleb Downs was the big steal of the first round. Jermon McCoy was the big steal of the entire draft. So great pick by them. Mike Washington Jr., I feel like, was another great grab for them in the fourth round. Somebody who can spell Ashton Gentry. They needed a big back to compliment what Ashton Gentry does. And I think that they got a guy who can do that out of Arkansas. He was to me was probably the second or third best running back in this entire draft. So getting him in the fourth round. Fantastic. And then Dalton Johnson, the safety out of Arizona. Just another depth guy that they grabbed here. And I believe. Yeah, they just made this pick. Yeah, they just made this pick anyway book thoughts and opinions on the Raiders draft this year Jared Shirai: They just made that pick and they're on the clock for their next pick. Keoni McKeague: ⁓ okay. Maybe that was what it was. just I was getting confused. I'm kind of watching it live. So yeah, maybe they that was their earlier fifth round pick and now they're on their second fifth round pick. Yeah. Good call. Jared Shirai: Yeah, because they picked him at a 10th pick and at the 35th pick in the fifth round right now. So they're picking the next one. But for me, man. Yeah. So for me, Fernando. ⁓ yeah, they just picked the cornerback from California. Here's a Kaya masses. ⁓ Keoni McKeague: ⁓ yeah, ⁓ yeah. Ayyyy! Jared Shirai: Yeah. So for me, I mean, I love it. They're they went and they got the quarterback of the future. We talked about Fernando. We don't really have to talk much about it we do think that's what's going to happen at the end of the day. They did ⁓ address some of the defensive side of the ball things, the secondary, especially by getting them out now to cornerbacks to safeties. And like you said, good. Like you said, for Stukes, phenomenal. Keoni McKeague: you Jared Shirai: fell to the second round, grabbed him there. And then you get Dalton Johnson as a second depth piece for them of however they want to use him in that regard. For me, Kenyon, sorry, I thought I said Kenyon Martin. Karon Crawford. Keoni McKeague: Okay. Jared Shirai: K. Ryan Crawford to line up on the other side of Max Crosby was going to be phenomenal. Like just getting a young guy on there, learning from one of the best in league. I think that's going to be phenomenal for them on the defense side of the ball. And then getting a center, like you said, soon and having like Linda Baum, whether it's training him or one of them moving to a guard position, I think that's going to only bolster the line for Fernando and for Kirk because we want both them to be standing in that pocket, throwing that ball. And then Mike Washington, I think this is a phenomenal pick for them, especially at where they got him. Keoni McKeague: Yes. Jared Shirai: him in the fourth round. You can't rely on Gentie to do everything. You want somebody to comp him and then Washington is going to do a phenomenal job. think right now, like Las Vegas is doing such a great job with their draft. I think that their last pick in the sixth round, I would love to see them honestly go and get a wide receiver. I would love to get a project wide receiver. They have what is it called? Trey Tucker, Naylor and Betch. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: To get another young receiver in that room that they can learn and tutelage and to grow with Fernandam and Dozer as it goes through. I think that'll be my cherry on top for this Las Vegas draft because I think they're doing a great job with this draft. Keoni McKeague: Yeah, that's true. I didn't think about that. They did not get another wide receiver. I really was hoping that they would use that third round pick on Elijah Surat just to bring in a former Indiana guy to play along with his Indiana coach or his Indiana quarterback. So I thought that might have happened. But yeah, you're right. I think that that's a great shout. Six round pick wide receiver would be fantastic. I will also say has a kind of masses. That's a great pick for them ⁓ at the end of the fifth round. So. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: That corner out of California is fantastic. So I really like that value. They're getting him at the end of the fifth round That's that's stupid value. So let's move on to the Miami Dolphins who had a lot of picks They needed a lot. They were addressing a lot obviously during this draft But I think they've done a really really great job at finding value in their picks They didn't really need to do anything specifically because their team is you know rebuilding obviously But I do like that they went and just grabbed value where they could get it. So Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: Going down the list here, we got Caden Proctor in the first round on an offensive tackle out of Alabama. I mean, that was damn near written in the stars for this team. We thought that they were going to draft them. They ended up getting him. There was a lot of rumors all about Mackay Lemon and all that sort of stuff. To me, this was the pick that needed to make. This was way better of a draft value than grabbing Mackay Lemon at pick 12. San Diego State's Chris Johnson was the next one. They got a corner that... ⁓ It's going to be somebody that I think can be a really, really good ⁓ value for them. He was slated to maybe be a late first rounder and they got him ⁓ exactly that. You know what I mean? The late first round. So I think that his talent is all there. We'll see how he develops. And I think he's going to be really, really good for the Miami Dolphins for a long time. They went and got Jacob Rodriguez, who I feel like was one of the best linebackers in this draft in the second round. ⁓ Somebody that everybody really, really liked. And of course, there's the whole mustache thing, which made him go viral. But On top of that, he has all the tools. think he's really, really good in coverage. He's really good in getting through the line. So I feel like that's a great value for them. Caleb Douglas was their next pick. Texas Tech wide receiver, 6'3", so he's a possession guy. I'm not super happy about where they grabbed him because it could have waited a little bit, but I do think that he's a project guy, so it makes sense that they went and got a big guy that they liked. Will Kakamarack out of Ohio State the tight end I think he's somebody that is gonna be very good developmental for them Especially with them not having the tight end room now Especially because they lost so much over this offseason and I don't think even Darren Waller is coming back this year Then they got Chris Bell very good wide receiver out of Louisville. That was somebody I really did like great value at the end of the third round Trey Moore out of Texas 6 to 243 edge who is Again, great values. So Kyle Lewis out of Pittsburgh, another one really, really good value. I don't know how he fell all the way to the fourth round, but wild. then Michael Taft out of Texas safety. Um, somebody that is very smart, but was kind of one those guys that didn't test well at the combine stuff. You know what I mean? Um, but still really, really solid player adding to a team that will have a Litany of new young guys added to this team, but Bo, what do you think about the Miami Dolphins draft? Jared Shirai: Yeah. I mean, I think they did it right. They have 13 picks. They and if you look at what they needed, they were smart and they went and they addressed every single one of those needs to the value of what they were able to get them at, which is beautiful. ⁓ I love like you said, they could have got Makai Lemon. I think Kaden Proctor, offensive lineman, like just the trenches guy. Keoni McKeague: Yes. Yep. Yep. Jared Shirai: I think that's the smarter of the two picks there. Chris Johnson, same thing. You want him to do the secondary and you want him to take care of that. Every pick that they made, except for, like you said, you would have loved to see them take a little bit later. ⁓ It was Caleb Douglas. Keoni McKeague: Yes. Yeah, Caleb Douglas, yeah, the wire receiver. Jared Shirai: Kip Douglas maybe a little bit later, but I mean every pick that they made had something behind it They had a lot of holes to fill as far as like with a new head coach as far as like people leaving and I do think like they're trying to build a system and when you have 13 picks in any draft Especially as a new head coach it you're really allowed to build into your system. So this is a this is such a great draft for Miami I'm excited to see what they're gonna do. They're not really probably gonna do much this first season but but to see where they Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: where they are now to where they're gonna go and how they're allowed to build with the amount of picks and the talent that they have brought in. I think this is a team that could be ready in two, three years. Like should they all buy into the system? Should they all stay healthy? Should everything happen the way that you're projecting them to draft in the way that they're allowed to do it? So. Keoni McKeague: I don't know how we're like on this train of where we're picking, talking about teams as they're picking, but they did just select Kevin Coleman Jr. The wide receiver with their latest pick in the fifth round. So yeah, another wide receiver to add to this room. I was going to add to what you were saying. I love what you said about this team building and how they use the picks to really set the tone for this team. I think another thing is you found some culture setters with Jacob Rodriguez, Katie Proctor, and then of course the offseason signing of Malik Willis. Jared Shirai: Hey! Yeah. Keoni McKeague: Now you have some leaders in there that I feel like it really, really start building the team up a little bit more. But Kevin Coleman, great draft draft pick right here. ⁓ at the end of this round, which I feel like is, you know, just a testament to their drafting in general. So excited for the Miami dolphins, irregardless of the fact that they're probably going to be not great this year. ⁓ let's move on to the Minnesota Vikings, a team that, ⁓ got their new quarterback in Kyler Murray. So they didn't really need to address that anymore. Now they have. Jared Shirai: Yeah. Keoni McKeague: Um, some picks that will help shore up the depth along this team. got Caleb banks out of Florida, uh, defensive tackle is something they really desperately needed. And they got one of the best ones at six, six, three 27 out of Florida. mean, that's a, that's a great player to grab. He's touted to be, or he's comped as Javon Kinlaw, which I feel like is a great comp for him. Um, Jake Goldie, the linebacker in the second round out of Cincinnati, six, four, two 39, a really, really good go, go out and get it kind of guy, which I really liked. So he's going to be a culture center for this team for sure. Adding to a room that did lose some veteran leadership. They also lost Harrison Smith as well this year. So had some stuff that he needs to address on that end, but then they went out and doubled down. This defensive tackle group is going to be stupid because they went and got a winning guy. Big citrus was his was his nickname in Dominique Orange out of Iowa state. How he fell to them in the third round, I don't know, but this defense just got a whole hell of a lot better. that they already were and they already were one of the best defense. You could tell that Brian Flores had his thumb on this on this draft because he was bringing in some guys that definitely match his system and he's already one of the best defensive developing coaches in the entire NFL. So that was a great snag for them in the third round. Then they went and got probably their most project guy out of this entire draft. But he's a huge kid. Six, eight, three, twenty three out of Northwestern offensive tackle Caleb Tiernan. In the mid to late or excuse me in the late third round follow that up with Miami safety Jacobi Thomas another big Safety that they can add to this room and probably the replacement for Harrison Smith this year Max Bredesen a really good tight end out of Michigan 6 to 252 Is going to be somebody that can block for them is I think that's somebody they're going to use sort of in that fullback row type of type of scenario and then you got Charles Demmings A small school prospect, but a lot ⁓ of things coming out about him about how good he is and how much above he played ⁓ or how much he punched above his weight, I guess is the best way to describe it. As far as a guy who was at a small school, but played really well. I mean, how many guys do know that get drafted out of Stephen F. Austin School? know what I mean? That's not a lot of guys. So the fact that he's in here in the draft and they saw him, I mean, great pick by Minnesota. Jared Shirai: Yeah. Keoni McKeague: book thoughts and opinions on the viking strap so far. Jared Shirai: I'll go backwards. Demings. I love it when you think about small school kids, like they gotta be something and this kid is hyper athletic. He's fast. I mean, either. That's why. But he's he's fast. He's he's he's got amazing vertical. Like this kid is just hyper athletic. And I think under the tutelage of Brian Flores, I think he's going to be one of the one he could be one of the best cornerbacks like sleeper quarterback cornerbacks in the league. ⁓ I do like that they went out and they got Keoni McKeague: ⁓ yeah. I've never even heard of Stephen F. Austin. Jared Shirai: MacBretton. Big kid they needed because they only have Hawkinson basically and they have other they have other guys but I mean they're not as notable so it's nice to bring in a big kid that can help on the offensive line because that offensive line does need help ⁓ and then I'm not even going to talk about defensive side because you know Blyon Flaurs had his thumb in this because It wasn't really a necessity what it needed to do on defense side of the ball, but the kids that they got is only going to make them ridiculously good. I would have loved to see them go to the offensive side of the ball in a sense of like finding an offensive guard lineman center, like in something to help. Keoni McKeague: Yes. Jared Shirai: give whoever their quarterback may be, whether it's Kyler, JJ, or Carson Wentz, who knows. But you want to make sure you get them more protection. And I think that's where JJ kind of faltered last year, even Carson Wentz. He didn't have the time to throw or he didn't have the capability to hold the ball in his hand long enough to make good decisions. so hopefully they'll, I mean, Offensive line. We said this is a huge offensive line class Hopefully somebody will fall to them in the later rounds because they do still have two picks left in the seven I know it's a seventh round but at the same time at least you can I'm hoping they just get two offensive line guys there and and to help Build from there, but defensively they're gonna be stupid this year. I think this is a crazy crazy defensive ⁓ draft for the Minnesota Vikings Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yeah. Yes, we definitely think that they will be much improved this year on both sides of the ball. And they are only one year away from that, you know, ridiculous end, year that they had. So a team that I really, really like heading into this next season, the New England Patriots, the runners up for this year's championship, you know, had a lot to address. And I think they did a lot of those things throughout this draft. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Yes. Keoni McKeague: some reaches here and there, to be honest, they had a very, good off season with some of the signings that they made. They're already slated to get AJ Brown, so that's already on the docket. ⁓ June 1st is supposed to be when that happens. It's clearly showing that that's what's going to happen with the way the Eagles drafted, which we'll talk about in bit. But they went and got an offensive tackle in Caleb Lomu out of Utah, 6-6, 3-13. That made a ton of sense. You needed somebody to... Maybe push Will Campbell into a guard position. Who knows? Maybe he'll be the opposite tackle. We're not sure yet, but obviously people are calling for Will Campbell to improve after last year or last season's playoff showing. So Caleb Lomu will spell that. He is the prototypical size and know, length and all that sort of stuff that you want. If that is the case and they move him inside, I think Lomu and Campbell can be a fantastic ⁓ tackle guard duo. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: Then you got Illinois's Gabe Joccas. I mean, an edge that I feel like was very, underrated. They have him come to Brian Arakepo. I think that's a great pick because Arakepo was also underrated. I really like what he does. I really like his tools. think, you know, had it been, I don't know, any other drafts really, you could have had him getting picked higher. So I think that they got really good value for him there. third round pick was a tight end out of Notre Dame, Eli Raradon. ⁓ I think that this was a really, really good grab for them. He was somebody that was touted as somebody who was going to rise up on draft boards. I think they got good value by grabbing him in the late third round. So that's somebody that I really liked for them ⁓ heading into the system, especially because they needed another tight end, ⁓ especially with their tight end room kind of being a little bit older, right? They still have ⁓ old boy Hunter, right? Still over there. Yeah, so I was like Hunter still playing for them I think Raradon can kind of be the other side guy for them and kind of compliment him very very well, but I really like what he does he's a former basketball player so I think they a lot of people comped him to like sort of what a grunk can do but obviously not grunk because you know, this is this is New England We're not gonna disrespect him by saying he's grunk, but he does a lot of those things He can get up and get the ball which I really really like and then of course Karen Prunty Jared Shirai: Yeah. Keoni McKeague: ⁓ Out of Wake Forest a corner that was probably somebody that has just fell to them at this point They did need to find some depth there But of course the way the draft is going right now all those guys are going before they could draft them They didn't have a fourth on pick and they still have four more picks to address even more of that So book thoughts and opinions on the new England Patriots draft Jared Shirai: Lomu, amazing pick. They need to address that offensive line. Whether he steals the spot or he works alongside him, I think that'll be great. Somebody to push. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: And I think this is a great kid to do that. Jockis, like he said, where he fell to in the draft, he kind of had to take them, especially with like a variable. Like, you know, he probably saw the talent and the necessity to build a depth position there. Eli, for me, Eli here is phenomenal because he has Hunter. Hunter's still there, but this kid not only... Keoni McKeague: I really liked him, yeah. Yes. Jared Shirai: can go up and get it. He's actually a pretty good blocker as well. So he'll help both of that line. I think he's known well for like holding down the line as well as getting open as he needs to. But the fact that he can do both, I mean, that's kind of what they want to do with this New England team because you don't want Drake May running as much. Keoni McKeague: Yes. Mm-hmm. Yeah, feels like Notre Dame Titans are always very smart like that. So I really liked that idea of putting him there. ⁓ Jared Shirai: Yeah. They're very prototypical in the sense of like they're block, they're very good blockers. And then they run their routes well, they're sure-handed, maybe not that hyper athletic, but they fit the old school type of tight ends, which I really like. And then, like you said, for... ⁓ Keoni McKeague: Yes. Yes. Jared Shirai: Karen Prunty is just a depth piece there. They're going to have three six rounds in the seventh round to show up the defense. But this team was a Super Bowl runner up ⁓ looking to repeat the same thing. Hopefully, DrinkMe will have the same success with a little bit more pieces. AJ Brown coming in is going to be one of those huge pieces that will add to this as we move forward. But man. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yes. Jeez, I know. Jared Shirai: It's exciting to see, and they have Romeo Dobbs too, so I mean, like, this is going to be a very interesting, ⁓ possibly highlighted season for this New England Patriots team. Keoni McKeague: Whoo! Damn, know, Agent Brown being added to this team is gonna be crazy. I mean, makes sense, man. I was like, I'm excited for them to finally have a wide receiver one and each Patriots looking scary. The New Orleans Saints, another team that much improved last year. I think I comp them a lot too, ironically, a team that's in the division with the the Carolina Panthers in that they're a team that I mean, they just seem to be hitting Jared Shirai: Yep. Keoni McKeague: their stride right now. You know what mean? Offensively, defensively, they're kind of kicking it up a little bit. They obviously added some youth here on the defensive and offensive side. So we'll talk about that in just a second. But yeah, I mean, they went on and had themselves a crazy start to the draft with Jordan Tyson out of Arizona State, the wide receiver, big bodied wide receiver, probably was seen as maybe the best wide receiver in this draft had he not had the injury history. ⁓ But yeah, they go out and get him. I believe that there was like talks about them maybe grabbing carnal tape or carnal tape obviously went earlier. I think that they get an even better prospect. He's a very, very good blocking wide receiver, which is probably the most underrated part of his game. He comes from a system where he learned from Heinz Ward. So I think that's a great grab for them here at pick eight. Then they went to got Christian Miller, a defensive tackle out of Georgia. mean, those two things synonymous together, put those two things together. I mean, that's a great, that's a great combo. Jared Shirai: Yeah. Keoni McKeague: defensive tackle, Georgia, not to mention 6-3, 3-21, and he is a run stopper. So I really like what he's going to add to this defense. They needed that. I mean, they obviously have a much, they have a lot of older pieces that, you know, some of them are out of, out there, out the door already, but they needed to address those things. And I think they found great value here with the second round pick. Oscar Delp, another really good defense, or another really good tight end prospect in this draft. And I think coming out of Georgia again, tight end Georgia synonymous makes sense. He's really, really good. I like what he can do on both as far as both a blocking tight end and as a receiving tight end. He'll pair well with Jawan Johnson in this offense. So I'd really, really like that fit here. Jeremiah Wright, a really good offensive guard here in the fourth round, six, five, three 31 out of Auburn. I mean, there's just not a lot, a lot of misses here for me for their draft. So I think that's a really, really good graph for them. Bryce Lance. He was a guy I don't think anybody was expecting to fall this far. The brother of Trey Lance, he's a very, very fast wide receiver. He's a ⁓ tall wide receiver. He's 6'3", 204 out of North Dakota State. I think the small school thing was what scared people away, but you now have a receiver trio of Crystal Lave, Jordan Tyson, and Bryce Lance. I think that's a really, really good receiver core. On top of that, you got two big body guys, and then you got... Chris Olavi who is more of their route running guy. I think this is going to be a very very good wide receiver group for ⁓ Tyler Shuck this year and then of course Lorenzo Styles Jr. out of Ohio State safety again one of those guys I feel like you're getting a safety out of Ohio State in the fifth round this to me just screams value he's really really good really productive in college so this team in general man I mean they hit on damn near every pick. Of course, they have some needs they could still address. They have some edge concerns. They have some corner concerns. But the picks that they made to me were the picks that fell into their laps. I think they're looking at this as not maybe maybe not exactly next year, but maybe even the year after that, they could still continue to build on what they have, which I feel like is a great way to look at their draft so far. Both thoughts and opinions. Jared Shirai: ⁓ I 100 % agree. They needed to address the wide receiver role. They went on and got two good receivers, like one small school receiver, one big school receiver. Like getting Jordan Tyson there is just phenomenal. And then to be able to get a speedster, like a big body like Bryce Lance later in the rounds at the Valley pick, I think that's phenomenal. Getting Christian Miller, like you said, Georgia defensive line, defensive tackle. Like it just makes sense to bolster the defense side of things. ⁓ Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yeah. Jared Shirai: And then getting a, a well-rounded tight end like Oscar Dow, I should have think of a good word. He's not like, he's not phenomenal at one thing, but he blocks well. He has good hands. He's not the fastest, but he's sure-handed. He gives you some kind of offensive set and some kind of protection as well. I think that's amazing. And then even getting Jeremiah Wright to bolster the offensive line. We, we saw it at the end of the season where Shuck took over and he literally Keoni McKeague: Yeah. ⁓ yeah. That's perfect. Yeah. Jared Shirai: New Orleans look deadly. And just the fact that you can give him more time on that front line with these types of players, I think it's only going to help them going forward to give him more weapons in the receivers. And then now with the last two picks, probably addressing the defensive side of the bars. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: debt pieces or project pieces. I think, like you said, they're not going to go anywhere next season, but they're going to be a scary team in like two years. Like we talked about like Miami. I think they're kind of like comp to Miami right now where they're still young. They have a little more figured out than Miami because they had the year with Chuck. And now you're giving him more weapons and more pieces to develop with and moving forward. think New Orleans is looking good. They're kind of, they're kind of, they look like a fun team right now with their additions. So. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I agree. That's a great way to. Yeah, it like they look like a very fun team. They're going to be a fun team to watch. That's for sure. Yeah, 100 percent. The New York Giants come up next. They had two top run top 10 picks in this year's draft. So, you know, naturally they were going to get some very, very good talent here. There was some talk about them being one of the teams that had like a big miss by not grabbing Caleb Downs with that 10th pick. But to me. Jared Shirai: Heh. Yeah. Keoni McKeague: Not only is this a very hard ball draft, but this was a very, very good draft for them. So I don't understand the hate for them not getting downs. I get it. You he's very, very good. You would have maybe wanted two really good guys to build around your defense. But to me, they got really good value at pick 10. So let's start off saying they got Arval Reese to pick five out of Ohio State, the linebacker, probably the best linebacker in this entire draft. So, I mean, you're getting, I mean, just a really good pick at pick five. I mean, that that to me is your new. guy to build around there's talks around maybe they might trade cave on Tebow that does happen. I mean, I could see it happening and being something they do do look at through this next season. ⁓ But of course, pairing Arval Reese with you know, what is already one of the better defenses. I mean, they did lose Dexter Lawrence this offseason. So that's unfortunate. ⁓ But they got some good draft capital. Obviously, they got picked 10 out of this traffic. And then they also went and grabbed. ⁓ What was his name last year? Jeez. Jared Shirai: Abdul Carter. Keoni McKeague: Abdul Carter. There we go. So I was like, now pairing Abdul Carter with Arvel Reese. I feel like you have a very good tandem ⁓ in that defensive room to build around. Then you got Francis Mawanoa out of Miami offensive tackle. I think he's really, really, really good. He's 6'5", 3'29". To me, this was a much better pick than going on and grabbing Caleb Downs. I like Caleb Downs. I think he's still the best player in this draft. But he just when you have this young team, you have a young quarterback. You know what mean? You want to do all the things you can to protect them. And now that they're kind of going all in on Kam Skatibou as their RB one, you need somebody to make sure that he can run that ball. I think they found great value with grabbing Francis Amaro Noah. Cote and Hood was their second round pick out of Tennessee. A really, really good, um, Speedy back somebody that I think kind of. He was the reason why Jermod McCoy's injuries were a big concern because he had this other guy who was showing out and people were looking at it like, Oh, can it, is it the, is it the defensive schemes or is it the player? Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: I still think Jaban McCoy is the better player, but I think Colton Hood is a really, really good secondary piece. ⁓ They're comping him to AJ Terrell. I think that's a perfect comp. I really like what he does in coverage, so that's a great guy to grade in the second round. Third round, got Malachi Fields out of Notre Dame, a big body wide receiver. This isn't somebody who's going to blow the top off of any team, but he is a possession guy. He's one of the better possession guys in all of this draft. So I feel like that made a ton of sense when you have a Malik neighbors. Who's you know, obviously gonna do all the big route running you have a guy who can do kind of just ⁓ go out and get it especially in the red zone, so ⁓ Yeah, book thoughts and opinions on the Giants draft Jared Shirai: I love it. They went and got the best possible ⁓ defensive piece in Arvel Reiss and they needed to address that. mean, we always talk about the Terran's defense, the value of that pick is so good. And I think... I 100 % agree where you take an offensive lying guy over a defensive like I get you want Caleb Downs he's amazing but like when you have people like Jackson Dart when you have people like Kam Skadabu and you got to take care of them and make sure that you're protecting them like they need the protection they need a big bodied guy and ⁓ this is just the right pick at where they were. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yes. Agree. Yeah, I agree. Jared Shirai: If they don't pick him there, they don't, don't think they get a quality guy that can step into the starting role from day one. And then Colton hood, like you said, speedy, speedy cornerback, ⁓ just adding to that, that secondary, that past coverage, it'll be amazing. And then Malachi fields. Yes. You want to add to the wide receiver room because they did lose a Wondell Robinson. And I think getting a young kid like Malachi fields who can step in and still be like a sure-handed route, a good route runner. Keoni McKeague: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jared Shirai: and just help you in the red zone. ⁓ And to learn under Slayton, Mooney and neighbors, even Calvin Austin III is still there. Those are like veteran pieces that will help mold the kids game. And I think that's a great Valley pick at where they got them. So New York did it right. ⁓ I get you on a lot of people giving a lot of hate on Caleb Downs, but they did need to address that offensive line. And that was such a great pick by picking Fatsimongy. Keoni McKeague: Mm-hmm. Yeah, I was just like, I agree wholeheartedly. Harbaugh had himself another really good draft. So great picks by the New York Giants. The New York Jets are up next. And I feel like New York is on fire right now because the New York Jets to me had. If the Browns had the best draft, they had the second best draft. I'm going to put them maybe one A, one B, because I think New York Jets and the Browns both had really, really good drafts. They were going to. They had a lot of needs to address. They had a lot of picks, so it made a ton of sense. But. They made moves to move up to get some of these guys that they got and I feel like they made the right move. starting off pick number one was the second round the second pick. Excuse me, David Bailey out of Texas Tech the best edge in this entire draft made it on the sense. I mean you were going to grab him that didn't I mean it was between him and our available Reese apparently I think David Bailey made way more sense, especially ⁓ with them like losing Quinn and Williams this past offseason or past season at the trade deadline and that sort of stuff. He was the one that you wanted to grab here. Then you got Kenyon Siddique, the tight end at pick 16. I think this was one of those scenarios where he just fell to them. They had to draft him. He wasn't supposed to be at pick 16. They grabbed him there. But you now make it so that you have this room that is supremely talented for Geno Smith to build around because your next pick was Omar Cooper Jr., who I felt like was Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: Probably the third best wide receiver in this class ⁓ Was somebody that was seen as a sneaky value pick for anybody who did get him I was hoping he was gonna fall to the second round for the Steelers But he didn't but I really really like what he does He to me is a really good gift for them and pick 30 And a lot of teams are trying to trade up to the first round or the end of the first round to grab And so I made a ton says that the grab them there DeAngelo puns Another really good corner top three top five whatever you want to say he is ⁓ Somebody that I really liked as well helped this Indiana team do the college playoffs and all that sort of stuff. He's very, very good. I really liked what he does. He's a little smaller. So that was like his big concern, but he plays above his weight, plays above his size. I think that's somebody who they got really good value with in the second round here. Then you got Darryl Jackson Jr. out of Florida State, a defensive tackle that will help show up that line. Somebody that they really needed in the trenches. ⁓ And was great value for them and pick three in the fourth round So to me that made a ton of sense and of course they went on and finally found themselves a project QB and Cade Club Nick ⁓ Again as is case with a lot of the guys here there are four to five guys in this draft as the quarterback position that if They pan out anywhere near where they were supposed to be heading into college through college in the flashes This is gonna be a really really good grab for you in the middle of the fourth round, because this is a guy that was touted to be the next big thing. And then, of course, he falls back ⁓ and doesn't have the greatest college career. But K Club Nick, really like here. Great project quarterback for them. And of course, I really like the weapons that they added to Geno Smith's room and, course, for this defense. So both thoughts and opinions on the New York Jets draft. Jared Shirai: I mean, I love it. They took the number two, they needed to take the best player possible. And David Bailey was that guy. So we're going to bolster their defense inside the ball. Kenyon Taddeek, like you said, fell to them, but he's so good. He's such a good blocker. He's a great offensive threat. Something that's going to be inserted into the offense right away. ⁓ Straight starter. Going to be a great person to have there for Gino, ⁓ since that's their quarterback right now. ⁓ Keoni McKeague: Yes. Yes. Jared Shirai: we talk about that offensive side, I'll just stay there. Omar Cooper, phenomenal pick to go alongside Garrett Wilson and Adonai Mitchell. You just get a speedster as well as like a good like where you're getting him at the end of the first round, such a good value pick. And then to get your quarterback as well in that in this draft. At K. Klippnik, I think that's phenomenal because he it's Keoni McKeague: Yes. Jared Shirai: He's a pocket passer with what you want. ⁓ The only thing for me is in six, seven, the last three picks, I just hope they pick three offensive guards. Sorry. in the last three, in the last rounds, the last three picks that they have in those rounds, ⁓ I would love to just like both of the offensive line. Keoni McKeague: Ah, six, seven, here we go again. Oh, the six year old is going off now. Yeah. Jared Shirai: like centers, centers anywhere, like just take three, take three, ⁓ one, one and one for all I care. And that way you can help build, grow and ⁓ mold as we move forward with Klubnik and that way it'll help them in the trusting of the protection and everything as they move forward. But that's the only thing I think they're missing. DeAngelo Pons, ⁓ like he said, he's small, but he plays big. I think that's phenomenal for them. Same thing for Daryl Jackson. Keoni McKeague: Yeah, I agree. Jared Shirai: the trenches. This is a scary like you said 1A, 1B I think they're just everything they needed to address. They got talent, they got phenomenal talent for the valley that where they got them at because people fell into their laps and they took them not just passed on them they just took them knowing that they're still rebuilding and they're going to grow through this season. So New York phenomenal job this year. Keoni McKeague: I'm not gonna lie. I forgot some of the guys that they signed and put peace together this offseason. honestly, they don't. thought I was thinking the same thing too, but I had to double check because I had to fact check us a little bit. They actually don't need offensive linemen. They have a very good offensive line. Dylan Parnham was one of the big ones. Joe Tipman was another one. I mean, but they already had Armand Membo and Olufoshano who they've drafted in the first round the last couple of years. They got Josh Myers. I mean, Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Well, who'd say in an off-season? Mm-hmm. ⁓ yeah, Fajardo. Keoni McKeague: Yeah, to be completely honest, they got a very, very good offensive line. ⁓ I didn't realize that because I completely forgot who they had this, you know, whatever, because the quarterback was so terrible. ⁓ Geez. Yeah, defensively, I forgot they signed tomorrow. Yeah, this is going to be a scary team with some of the pieces that they just added in this draft. mean, I can't believe I mean, the New York Jets might be more up there than we think, but Gina Smith is going to have to play. some tremendous ball to make that happen. So we'll see. You have to turn the clock back a little bit, maybe prove all the doubters wrong. So ⁓ with Philadelphia up next, they did not have very many picks, but they did ⁓ make some moves to move up to grab guys, which went viral. Obviously, we already know about the Mackay-Lemon deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers calling him and then Philadelphia jumping up one spot to steal him ⁓ before that happened. All that stuff went viral. I'm not going to lie. I'm glad we didn't get Mackay-Lemon, but I do like him. Jared Shirai: Yeah Keoni McKeague: at that pick. do like him adding to a Philadelphia room. I think he would have been great for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but I also I'm not mad that we ended up going with trenches because that's all I really, really want us to draft this year, especially with the trapping so deep. But anyway, first round pick at pick 20, they moved up to grab Makayla. I mean, of course, their new wide receiver, too, because I do think Devontae Smith is the one he's always been a one. He just doesn't have a quarterback. You know what mean? Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: ⁓ And to add to that, they got the second best tight end in this draft in Eli Stowers out of Vanderbilt, who I feel like is also very good. But again, who started him the ball? mean, I guess that makes sense. know, Zach Harris was kind of iffy coming back here. So I do like the fit here. ⁓ There was a lot of rumors they might try to get Kenyon Sadiq. They didn't obviously they weren't able to because he was at pick 16. But I do like that they got. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Keoni McKeague: Eli Stowers here. think that's a great value grab for them at pick 22 in the second round. But I mean, yeah, guess tight ends are kind of easier to get the ball to because it's short yardage stuff and that's Jalen Hurts is kind of bread and butter. Yeah, so Goddard, Eli Stowers, that'll be a really good tandem for them for a team that's hoping to get back into contention. Then you got Markel Bell, a monster, six nine three forty six out of Miami and offensive tackle that. Jared Shirai: I mean, got it. Got it was like. Keoni McKeague: I know I this is that's why I think it's funny is because they had a lot of the same guys that the Pittsburgh Steelers had on their board. So Mark Elbel made it on the sand state. He's just a big kid. He's he's pretty raw. But at the end of the day, you have a lot of bigger dude. This is the biggest offensive line as far as like height and size wise in the NFL. So it made sense as you get the biggest tackle in this entire draft and add them to the room. And then they went and got another quarterback, Cole Payton out of North Dakota State. ⁓ I believe they drafted I can't remember the name of the quarterback they drafted last year But they did draft another quarterback last year and now they have Colt Payton adding to that room Colt Payton to me has a higher upside than the one they drafted last year who Riley Leonard was it Riley Leonard? Is Colts. Yeah, he's a Colts. You're right Yeah quarterback Philip Jared Shirai: Riley Leonard was. He's a colt. I don't know, because the only people they show right now on the depth chart is Jalen Hurts, Tana McKee, Andy Dalton and Cole Payton. Let me look at their full roster. That's their own. That's their only four. Yeah, Dalton Hurts, McKee and Payton. Keoni McKeague: ⁓ yeah, what happened to? They drafted somebody last year. 2020 live. I they drafted somebody last year. They drafted... Oh, common cord. Wow. Common cords not even on the rush. That's kind of crazy. Common cord out of Syracuse. So to me, yeah, well, that is random. But I think Colpatine has a higher upside than him. Actually, a lot of people felt like he was maybe the best quarterback in this entire draft, especially after his combine performance. But it's North Dakota State. So there is a lot of that where you look back at the tape. He looked phenomenal, but it's like, OK, he's playing in a smaller school, different competition, that kind of stuff. So. Jared Shirai: Yeah, it's not showing. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Keoni McKeague: All that to say though, if he ends up hitting, he could be the quarterback of the future, especially with Jalen Hurts not being the greatest throwing quarterback. anyway, thoughts and opinions on this very small draft for the Philadelphia Eagles. Jared Shirai: I mean with AJ Brown out the door, Makai Lemon is the safe pick here to kind of fill the void coming in as a wide receiver too. Stowers, kind of the same thing. It was interesting just because you have Goddard and Calcutera who have been such big pieces of the Philadelphia tight end scene. ⁓ Maybe it's just maybe one of them out the door, one of them is getting, maybe they're getting old, they're going to move on from it. So it's the molding. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. I think God had only signed like a one year deal. So it makes sense that they wouldn't have found somebody. Jared Shirai: Yeah. And so maybe Star Wars has this this one year to to learn from him and kind of grow and then they'll move on from from Goddard. ⁓ Mark L. Bell, like you said, he's a big body and you want a big body for that to push push. So, you know, just makes a lot of sense. And then. Keoni McKeague: Yes. Jeez, I know. And we already had so many big guys on this offensive line, goodness. Jared Shirai: Yeah, and then Colpaitin for me, it's a great, he's great presence. Lefty, pocket passer, can move the ball around. Like you said, he differed just because of a small school. I think people looked at that kind of thing, seen as a success. But when you got Jalen Hurts and Andy Dalton's probably going to be your two because Andy Dalton's, I think Andy Dalton's better than Tanner McKee. And so at least he'll have like... Keoni McKeague: Yes. ⁓ Jared Shirai: Mentorship Jalen Hurts from the run game, Danny Dalton from the pocket game. Like it's just that that project quarterback that you're going to build and grow. hopefully when Jalen Hurts is done, Colpated can step in and take over the program for them. So I think, I think for the limited picks that you have, they made good quality picks and in the places that they needed to make picks and make, take replacements in that regard. So good draft, good draft for, for Philadelphia. Definitely not like, not a one A one B kind of thing, but it's like, I think it's still an A. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: draft for them because of what they needed to Exactly. Love it. Keoni McKeague: Yeah, short and efficient is exactly the way to describe their draft. So efficiency was the key and they did really, really well with that. Moving on to the Pittsburgh Steelers here. ⁓ There were no, I'll just say there was, I'll say there was a lot of ⁓ scenarios that I guess didn't really work out for them. There was some trade up scenarios that didn't work out for them. ⁓ Trade back scenarios that didn't work out for them. Jared Shirai: you got me I know. Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: I still wholeheartedly believe Omar Khan is maybe the second best GM in all of the NFL behind. I was going say Howie Mendel, that's not his name. ⁓ Howie, whatever his name is from Philadelphia, who ironically was right before this. So I believe in the moves that he makes. he doesn't make a move, then it's because they couldn't get the right value. And he usually makes really good trades when it comes to that sort of stuff even some of the ones he made later in this draft trading back ⁓ with like the Chiefs in order to Get two picks that were like a couple rounds or a couple picks later plus one that was you know, like 30 picks higher so just a lot of small things that he's done throughout the shaft all that to say that things didn't pan out do what you don't want a lot of sexy names that fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but I'm OK with that. think that they made a lot of moves that make a ton of sense, especially with the situation with Aaron Rodgers and not knowing whether or not he's coming in. Now you're going to have this quarterback battle between two young QBs who are kind of projected in the same vein as far as like big bodied quarterbacks that can really throw the ball, have big arms, but just kind of didn't have the college productivity that you wanted to see out of them. But. All that to say that we have now a new head coach that will develop them a lot better in Mike McCarthy because he is still one of the best off ⁓ quarterback developmental coaches. and then of course you got all these really good assistant coaches that can help develop the line. So all that to say that here's the where the job started. the first round, pick 21. Of course you saw the controversy with Mackay-Lemon. I'm glad they didn't end up working out that way. I personally did not want Mackay-Lemon ⁓ just because He just already looks like a headache. He looks like somebody who's already going to cause problems. The weird snake thing that does whenever he's talking is like super. I'm already getting that sense. We don't need any more headache wide receivers. Let's just get somebody. Yeah, let's just get some good players that we can build around that help the culture. ⁓ Max Ijanakor who was Jared Shirai: Hahaha You already had your share. Keoni McKeague: the number one tackle on our board. So I was really excited when they grabbed him out of Arizona State. That's somebody that I really liked. Of course, it would have not minded having ⁓ Vega Yawane fall to them. But of course, when you have his talent level, he was going to go a lot higher than that anyway. Then Jeremy Bernard out of Alabama, a really good wide receiver, another guy that they had to trade up to go grab. But I'm glad that they did because I really, really liked him as a prospect. 6-1-2-0-6 out of ⁓ Alabama. Jared Shirai: Yeah. Keoni McKeague: Projected as a Debo Samuel type, but I don't really see that so much but I understand where that's going I guess because he's a toolsy guy you can use him and all sorts of stuff But to me, he's just another one of those big-bodied Alabama wide receivers, which I really really like so Then there's Penn State's drew our six five to 28 ⁓ Quarterback that can battle will Howard in training camp. So I really like that. There's going to be a competition I expected them to go out and get quarterback in this draft. I'm glad they waited to the third round and didn't pick somebody in the first two rounds. I was going to be pretty upset if that did happen. And the way that the quarterback run was going, they needed to address it. They did. And I like that they grabbed him ⁓ early enough to do that. Then you got Dylan Everett out of Georgia and underrated cornerback out of Georgia, which I feel like is, you know, Georgia. Just they just pump out defensive players. So it makes sense as you go and grab him. Jared Shirai: Yeah. ⁓ Keoni McKeague: There were some guys that I wouldn't mind them grabbing. But of course, you're evaluating these guys, sometimes you just kind of see the name value and pick from their Jennings Dunker. The hair, you know, I mean, it's just true blood American 653 19 out of Iowa. I think that we have this infatuation with Iowa players because we always seem to draft at least one or two of them every year. But I like Jennings Dunker as a player, his big body, kind of that corn fed kind of ⁓ White boy out of Iowa. So even more so I just like very very strong somebody I think they said he has he's probably one of the strongest in this entire draft So makes a ton of sense that they got him to add to this room then Kaden went in This was probably the one that I was like, okay cool because he's a really good returning piece ⁓ He's probably the best punt return in this entire draft. So that was nice that they grabbed him here, but you know was an interesting snag for me here, but I didn't mind it. Then Riley Nowakowski, really did like this kid coming out of college out of Indiana. I really like him as a tight end prospect. He's one of those guys that can do kind of what we had when we had Connor Hayward on the squad. He's somebody who can line up at the fullback. He can be sort of the new like how we used Connor Hayward as sort of the tush push guy. He's the new tush push guy ⁓ because he is a smaller tight end. But I like that he has the utility that he can kind of move around the line. He's also a very good blocker. So I really like what we can use him for. And on top of he's very speedy and has good hands. So if they do need him to roll out and catch, you know, a five yarder, my man. So he's very different from what we have from Pat Firemuth and Darnell Washington, which I really like. So ⁓ anyway, three more picks to address here. And I'm sure they'll maybe take another stab at somebody on the offensive line, maybe another running back. I think that's maybe the next two picks. Jared Shirai: Yeah. I I like what you guys did. I kind of agree when he's talked about like you guys didn't stay away from Makai because the offensive line needed help and he had a core is going to be that guy. I think he helps bolster you guys. mean, like. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: At the value you get him for because I know you guys wanted other people but whatever fell to you he's a great piece that fell to you out of Arizona State. Another wide receiver in Jeremy Bernard that's phenomenal for you guys because you guys need that. Drew Allard like you said we don't know the whole Aaron Rodgers situation. ⁓ Mason Rudolph who possibly like fills the role until we figure out the Will Howard and now Drew Allard is gonna fight with him for that. ⁓ Keoni McKeague: Yes. good lord I hope it's not Mason Rudolph. I hope mean no I hope my big thing is like I hope he doesn't win the training camp battle because that tells me goodness these two guys have a lot of work to do. Yeah like that's all like if he wins the training camp battle I'm gonna be like ⁓ god we're screwed. Jared Shirai: Yeah, no, I know but right now it is technically That means your two guys should not have gotten drafted. Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, so I mean, like you said, to bring in, bring in somebody, it's just nice to bring them in, have a have another healthy competition, somebody to push you. Like you said, Dylan Everett, I think that's amazing for you guys on defense. They have all we know how great you guys are on that side of the ball, getting another offensive tackle and Jenny's Dunker. He said, you know, the hair, just the look like that's a that's a Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Agree. I personally think he's going to move to offensive guard too because I think he does have shorter arms and he is more of a kind of a he's like a straight up blocker and not really like a I don't know how explain it but yeah I like him more as a Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. No, no, they're they're as they talk about the post draft. They're saying they have probably moved to the guard. So. Keoni McKeague: ⁓ nice. Okay. Well, yeah. Jared Shirai: Yeah, he said Duggar will move from tackle to guard in the NFL and can compete with left guard Spencer Anderson or right guard Mason McCormick for the starting role. So he can play that role too, which is nice for you guys. I think the beauty of what you guys did, you guys picked the first two players in this draft. He's one of them. Kehli Wechen. He's a small receiver, so you don't really care for that, but he's probably, like you said, one of the best punt returners in that regard. And that'll be a phenomenal role for you guys. And Nowakowski, ⁓ you already went over it. Keoni McKeague: ⁓ Yeah. Yeah. Jared Shirai: can play the line, he can play the full back, just a very versatile piece for you. Does things that Fire Muth and Darnell Washington don't do. So that's a great piece for you guys. But as you guys move forward, I think you guys had a good draft. Took what fell to you, addressed needs, and just kind of like, I feel like with this draft, you guys went a little back more to fundamentals over anything else. Keoni McKeague: Yes, yeah, very much so. Jared Shirai: So it's just kind of beautiful. So I do love the way you guys drafted this year. Like you said, Omar Khan always does a phenomenal job of getting great value. But I think the pieces that you got were very versatile pieces that will help in more than one way that was where you guys kind of need to as well. Keoni McKeague: Mm-hmm. Yeah, and I think one of the last things I'm going to throw out there, think watching how Mike Tomlin influenced the draft and how Mike McCarthy influenced the draft. I really liked that they went out and addressed needs for the team as opposed to just grabbing the next big sexy name that fell to them. That was one of the Pittsburgh Steelers mainstays was like, don't get me wrong, great value. The great guys that like fall to them and they kind of just grab them because they fell to them, that sort of stuff. Jared Shirai: Yeah. Keoni McKeague: I like that they were very intent with how they drafted. They went out and grabbed specific players for specific needs. That was something that I really liked to see because if you are gonna be a team as they're slated to be, somebody who's pushing all your chips in this year, make sure you insulate it by putting pieces in all the holes that you have. So that was something I really liked about this year's draft. Let's move on to the Super Bowl winning Seattle Seahawks. I mean, geez. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Keoni McKeague: If there's a team that just keeps hitting and keeps hitting and keeps hitting every single year, it's them because they had a phenomenal draft with the limited amount of picks that they have and they add back to a room that lost pieces. But now you replace those pieces easily because you got a couple of guys who immediately step in as starters. ⁓ Starting off the rib. Didarian Price to me was the most underrated running back in this entire draft because he was sitting behind Jeremiah Love. Now you have a guy who I feel like is a day one starter for them. He probably steps in over because Charbonneur is injured. You picked up Emmanuel Wilson, I believe this off season. Jaderian Price is better than both of those guys. And I think that he's going to be their day one starter. I really liked that pickup. And as we'll get into in a fantasy pot eventually, to me, this is a dude that is going to get drafted a lot higher than I think anybody was expecting because they weren't expecting him. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: to step into a role like he is with the Seattle Seahawks. makes a ton of sense. Really liked this grab for them at the end of that round. Nobody was sure where they were gonna go with it and that's where they grabbed it and it was a great grip for them. Bud Clark, one of the top safeties in this draft. 6'1", 188, prototypical size, coming out of TCU. I mean, geez, the fact that they're adding him to an already super stout secondary is very stupid to me. Because you're getting a guy who's really really good at that spot. I know that they lost some guys this offseason like ⁓ She I Was just a Kobe Durant no Kobe Bryant, right Kobe Bryant. Yeah, they lost Kobe Bryant this offseason So I mean it just made sense then you went out and doubled down by grabbing Julian Neil out of Arkansas a really good corner a really strong corner Jared Shirai: was his name. I know who you're talking about too. Kobe Bryant. Keoni McKeague: They lost Tariq Willin, so that made sense. You were immediately replacing him with somebody who can comp and do a lot of things that he did. ⁓ He's 6'2, 203, so even more so. He's going to be very good in coverage. And then, and you don't need to do that much, which is crazy because this is Seattle Seahawks. They have a lot of stuff everywhere, a lot of weapons everywhere. And then they went and got both Stevens, an interior lineman, 6'5, 3'15 out of Iowa. As I stated before, Iowa players seem really, really, really good, but putting getting somebody like this, this late in the fifth round that can step in to your center position or be your, you know, a guard. I mean, the versatility of this draft for them was fantastic and they got some really good players. So Boog, thoughts and opinions on the Seattle Seahawks draft in this year. Jared Shirai: just crazy. Just get better man. The people that they pick like exactly. Jadarian steps into a dream situation. Kenneth Walker leaves. Charbonneur is still injured and you know, yes he sat behind Jeremiah Love but like when Charbonneur does come back this two back Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yeah. The rich get Richard, bro. Jared Shirai: this two back system that they love to use is only going to be more deadly. Jerry is going to get the game experience that he needs, the hard knocks that he needs ⁓ in life as a RB one. And it'll be beautiful in that regard. But Clark just shores up a defense that needed to fill a little bit of holes because of the Kobe Walker, mean, Kobe Bryant and other pieces that had left. And then they add depth in that regard too. And then you just add to an offensive line that Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yeah. Jared Shirai: just going to give Sam Darnold a lot more time to throw to his weapons. ⁓ I would love to see them go get a wide receiver though, like a young wide receiver, since they do only really have ⁓ to I mean, they have not only but they have JSN, Cooper Cup and Rashid Shahid. But I would love for them to go get like a project running wide receiver in that regard to like help them grow and and build as they move forward, because they're going to they're going to need to. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yeah, they could definitely grab like a possession guy, which I feel like would make a ton of sense for them because with Cooper getting older, you're going to want somebody else who can be there with that tandem. Yeah, I agree horribly. Jared Shirai: Yeah. Exactly. mean, man, they just add to an already stacked roster coming back from a Super Bowl winning. Kenneth Walker, yes, it's a big loss, but Jadarian, like you said, steal of the giraffe basically because he had to sit behind Jeremiah Love. And that's their top two running backs from Notre Dame going in the first round. Ridiculous. Keoni McKeague: Jeez, I know. Yeah, that ⁓ was a great grab by them, man. Jeez, yeah, it's going to be stupid. Honestly, I think it's similar to like the... it Trevion Henderson? it Ohio State? Was it Trevion Henderson? Jared Shirai: Was that last year? Keoni McKeague: I was just say it was a trivia. Yeah, okay. It trivia on Henderson and and Quinch on Judkins. I feel like it's a similar thing with this. Just Darien Price, Jeremiah Love thing. So I really liked them grabbing him there. Let's move on to a team that I feel like did kind of the opposite and was in the same division as them. And that is the San Francisco 49ers. ⁓ If you read through this draft for them, not only were there ⁓ more than a few reaches, but there's a lot of players in here that people weren't expecting to be drafted as high as they drafted them. But I do kind of see the vision. You know what I mean? Some of them ⁓ starting off the rip, though, stribbling Deshaun stribbling out of Ole Miss 6 to 207. Good wide receiver. I think they did move out of the first round and kind of this was the first pick that they did grab here. It made sense that they grabbed the wide receiver. I just thought there were better prospects here like Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: You had some guys like, I mean, want to say like Denzel Boston was still available. Elijah Sarat was still available. I mean, you had some guys that I feel like they whiffed on and didn't grab here, could have grabbed. So that was my big thing with them. This part of the draft, Romelo Hite out of Texas Tech. I really do like him. That was a really good pick for them. ⁓ Maybe a little early, but I think they went and got the guy that they wanted. So that was really good. Kailan Black, another one. Pretty early. There were some other guys there, but. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: And on top of that, you I feel like this is the thing that they kind of been harking on with like the Niners and Kyle Shanahan. He just keeps grabbing these project backs and I'm not sure why. You know what I mean? You already have Garendo. You have Jordan James that they grabbed. mean, like now you have Kailan Black adding to that room. Like how many project backs do you need in the third round? I don't know. This is a guy that probably could have been picked in the sixth. So not again. Why? I don't know. You could have traded back if you really wanted him. I don't know if that was just a weird pick. Jared Shirai: Jordan James. Yep. Keoni McKeague: Grace Halton out of Oklahoma, defensive tackle. He's not a sexy pick, but he's a solid pick. Great ⁓ college stuff coming out of him. Carver Willis out of Washington and another offensive tackle, 6-5-3-0-3. This was a good pick. End of the fourth round, you're getting a tackle in a deep tackle class. And he's coming from a school in Washington that's very, very good. ⁓ Ephesians Priceocke, Washington ⁓ corner. To me, he wasn't great. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: He's a little slow for the corner spot. I think it's just his he's a bigger back. He's also able to mirror really well, but he's six three, you know, a little slower. I'm not sure I would have picked him, I guess. Cool. But there were some other guys that were sliding that I thought maybe they'll grab that guy didn't grab those. Then Jaden Dugger linebacker six five two thirty nine. I do like him. He's a project guy. He's out of Louisiana. He's somebody that they could kind of maybe, you know, slowly work into the rotation. and he can learn from some of the veteran guys there. And then Enrique Cruz Jr. in offensive tackle again. I do like him. I think he was a really good value get out of Kansas. Big body kid. And that was the last pick for them. So Niners, this is their draft book. As the pseudo Niners fan, what do you think about their draft? Jared Shirai: mean, the offensive line help. I love it. ⁓ I think that's, that's, that's, Keoni McKeague: That I do love. Jared Shirai: probably the brightest part of their draft. They need to address it. They're gonna work with them, whether it's project or what. They needed to address somebody there and they got two good guys there that are coming and got good value for them where they got them in the fourth and fifth rounds. ⁓ Jalen Dugger, I think they picked him because it's a depth piece. You can learn from the people that are there now, as well as they are getting older. So to get younger in that position and be able to have ⁓ seamless Keoni McKeague: guess. Mm-hmm. Jared Shirai: transition. I believe that's why they did that. Just like the Grayson Halton, I don't mind that pick because Halton, like that defensive tackle position, it's kind of thin when you kind of look at their depth chart and everything. So for them to fill that with Romelo Height as well, I feel like that's okay. ⁓ Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yeah. Jared Shirai: A lot of some of these guys, like you said, it's a stretch, ⁓ Deshawn's dribbling. I feel like they could have gotten another wide receiver there. I knew I'm glad they took one. I'm really happy they took one. Like what, don't get me wrong. I'm glad they chose to pick a wide receiver here. I just don't know if it's the right wide receiver. ⁓ and then Kaylee. Exactly. Keoni McKeague: Yes, me too. I agree. Yeah, they had the first pick in the second round. That was where I was confused. Jared Shirai: I was super confused by that as well. And then like you said, Kailan Black, I don't know. In my opinion, I don't think you pick a running back in this draft at all because you have Christian McCaffrey. ⁓ Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: And yes, his injury, proneness, whatever, but you still have Jordan James and Isaac Arundo who can do the job as a tandem back. And if you do need a third back, you can just go get a veteran like somewhere that this is looking for a home. But to get a young back like this, it's another project back. It just doesn't make sense to me. Like get another defensive tackle to add depth or ⁓ get somebody in the linebacker again to replace the old heads that are on their way. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Jared Shirai: out sooner rather than later. it's a very, for me, I'm 100 % with you in this. It was a very confusing draft, kind of like who did we talk about earlier? Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: I can't remember who we talked about earlier. We talked about so many teams, it was like one of those, it was like one of those teams that we talked about earlier where it's like, yeah, you address certain things, but it was just confusing in that why you took these people in these parts. Yeah. Jacksonville. There you go. Thank you. ⁓ you, didn't really need some of these players. You didn't really take, you stretched out a lot of these players. But so, I mean, great. They, filled voids, but did they really fill voids in that regard to the best of what they could have got? So. Keoni McKeague: I Jacksonville. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah, Yeah, the value was where I was at with them. I didn't mind the picks that they made, the positions they grabbed. It was just the value. Like, I don't understand reaching on some of these guys. anyway, moving on to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who have concluded their draft. The sixth run is completed for them. So their final pick was made. ⁓ Jared Shirai: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Keoni McKeague: I mean, I mean, they addressed all the needs. So that's the number one. You look at the needs here is everything is already picked up. But starting off the rip, they get the best value in the entire first round, I think, because he should have been a top five. you I mean, to me, he he looks like an Aaron Donald when you watch him play. His footwork is stupid. He's absolutely a powerhouse. He's strong. He's athletic. He does just so much. And that's Ruben Bain Jr. at pick 15, which is so stupid. I just can't believe he fell so far. Yeah, anyway, great pick for them. Fantastic get for this team. I mean, adding him to a room with Vita is going to be stupid. Moving on to linebacker Josiah Trotter again, another great value grab linebacker out of Missouri here. Yeah, very, very good felt to them. I think they just grabbed somebody who. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: Delta them and that was exactly what you got out of the drus I trotted in Ted Hurst out of Georgia State a wide receiver that I feel like is a little bit of a premium ⁓ but he is Somebody that they don't have already. They don't have like a true go up and get it X receiver ⁓ Imeka Buka is more of a slot guy Chris Godwin more of a slot guy Both of those guys aren't necessarily like possession guys Ted Hurst is that possession guy for you? So it made sense. It seemed like a little bit of a Jared Shirai: Yeah. Keoni McKeague: premium that they did it really, really need. They had a lot of good receivers on this team, but they don't have a his version of wide receiver. So it made sense why they grabbed him. County Scott was by far one of the best late grabs that they got because he wasn't supposed to be there in the fourth round was supposed to be a second round draft pick ⁓ out of Miami night pair him with his former teammate Ruben being junior. I think they add a lot of leadership to that defensive room. He's going to be really good there. Demonti Capehart, six for ⁓ Jared Shirai: the earth. Keoni McKeague: Defensive tackle out of Clemson. A guy that can fill the holes, was productive in college, but not anything to write home about. Billy Shroud, the 6'5 offensive guard out of an order. Dame, again, coming from a prestigious system that usually brings very good depth guard slash trench players. I like that. And the Boar Sharp, similar in vein, 6'5, 249, out of LSU. Just another good blocking tight end, somebody that they can use in rollouts and that sort of stuff, really addresses needs for them on the, from the blocking standpoint for Baker Mayfield. Boog, thoughts and opinions on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers draft. Jared Shirai: I love what they did. Tampa Bay's defense kind of had fallen off this up this past year. So they really did go out and address it at every position, right? You got an edge, you got a linebacker, a quarterback, and then the trenches to tackle. So I love how they went and they did that. They really bolstered it in that regard with not just youth, but like good talent. Keoni McKeague: Yes. Jared Shirai: So them getting those players, love, I love what they did there. They went under the guy, the Ted Hearst. You put it the best way. there's, they have a good wide receiver room, but they don't have a guy who does what he does. And that just makes it. Yeah. And so them like, and with Baker, like Baker, like we said, Baker didn't have the greatest of years, but he just get him another sure-handed like downs guy that you can hand, like you can trust and build with. And I think that'll help Baker get back to form. Keoni McKeague: Probably the best. Yeah. Jared Shirai: And then the offensive line, tandem of Strath and Sharp, ⁓ just assigning late round picks, building developmental to both of the line, good blocking to create more coverage. As we noticed that, feel like Baker, as he's getting a little bit older, needs a little bit more time to make better decisions and get the ball out cleanly. So just to grab these guys there. Exactly. Keoni McKeague: Yes. Yeah. Not quite the wheels he had when he first came into the league. Yeah. Yeah. I will say though, he makes up for that with the like sometimes when he just like puts his head down and like powers through somebody. That's what I'm just saying. OK. OK. Baker. Yeah. If anything, he got he got more stout. Yeah. Yeah. Mm Jared Shirai: Yeah, where he could like scramble and then get away and then make still make good throws like he doesn't have the wheels as much. Yeah, he's he's still got that body. He's still he's still got that dog in that body and he just doesn't have that. Yeah. So I think what he made up with when he lost in speed, he made up with that. So. But yeah, love it. Yes, I agree. Keoni McKeague: Yeah, agree. Yeah. Yeah. This is a good draft for them. Yeah. Very, good. Moving on to the Tennessee Titans, who had the fourth overall pick. ⁓ They obviously I think they were hoping for ⁓ Jeremiah left to fall to them. the Cardinals picked them one pick earlier, but they did end up getting a great consolation prize in the best receiver in this draft. Cardinal Tate out of Ohio State, ⁓ 6 to 192. ⁓ All the production. Very, very good team coming out of. basically wide receiver university in Ohio State ⁓ is a very smooth and efficient receiver. But he's, yeah, one of the best players that got him to pick for. They traded back into the first round to get Keldrick Falk at pick 31. ⁓ The edge out of Auburn, 6'5", 276. To me, this is a guy that Robert Sala is gonna love. You're throwing him in here to really help build your defense, which I think is the main thing when you look at a guy who. was just absolutely productive in college and fell to them super late in the first round, which is stupid value. Then you got Anthony Hill Jr., who was probably one of the more up there ⁓ athletic freaks in this draft. You got him at the end of the second round, which is just stupid to me. He comps as Edren Cooper, but I think that he does a little bit more than Edren Cooper. He's very, very good, very athletic. They got him out of Texas. I think he's just such an underrated pick for them in the second round. And then of course you have two rounds as you didn't have picks because you did have to make the trade up to grab the other guys. those first three were big hits. The rest of these, little bit more project stuff, but again, great value where you grab them. Fifth round, got Fernando Carmona out of Arkansas. A guard who was top 15 here as stated, but somebody that did have some wonkiness to him, some stuff that they needed to fix, but he's somebody that's gonna add. to the depth of this offensive line room, which I feel like they much improved this year because they did sign a bunch of players this off season. They got Nick Singleton, who is probably the biggest question mark in all of the players in this draft as far as a running back is concerned because Kenby supremely talented, has moments where he's not, you know, as like it like they list him here. He's a one cut kind of guy. That I think is true. He doesn't have the greatest vision. But when he burst through that hole and can get past the line, my goodness, that dude can make some plays. Yeah. So Nick Singleton is somebody that's going to be like thrown into the mix. I imagine he's probably going to maybe usurp. I should have even know. I can't really say that. was like, because he's not going to usurp Tony Pollard off the rip. But I think he's somebody that ought to at give them some some. Jared Shirai: He got the speed. Keoni McKeague: change of pace that they're going to need. And I think that he's somebody that matches Robert Sala very well. You got Jackie Marshall out of Baylor defensive tackle here, 6-2, 293. I think this is a very Robert Sala pick, somebody who can add to the depth of the defensive tackle room. And then Pat Coogan, 6-5, 311 center out of Indiana. think that's another project, but somebody that can maybe become a starter eventually for them. So book thoughts on the Washington or excuse me, on the Tennessee Titans draft. Jared Shirai: Yeah. I think they did a phenomenal job. ⁓ think for me, like, Cornell Tate, going out and get that right away. ⁓ We talked about no wide receiver went in this room. So like he can step in and take that title as well as you get to work with Cam Ward. So working with Cam Ward in that regard, it's like he's a sophomore, right? Then this year, rookie year. So having them be that young and work on the same page and grow together for this team is going to be phenomenal. Kendrick Falk, I think that's a great grab for them. Keoni McKeague: Yep. Jared Shirai: is a very Robert Salah guy. And this is what I'll say. I'm surprised we didn't get more defensive players with the way Robert Salah is, you know, I literally thought he was gonna like run. Like how ⁓ Brian Flores kind of had his hand in that Minnesota. I thought he was going to do the same thing in Bolster, but I get the need for the offensive side because you did draft Cam Ward last year. You draft a Cam Ward, so you want to make sure you protect him. You give him options. You help him out in that regard. So you got, went out, you got him a receiver, a light out, two linemen and ⁓ a running back as well that can help grow in that regard. For me, Pat Coogan, I think it's going to be, it's not really a Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: ⁓ build that was it called not really a training piece as much as it is like I think you're looking for your center of the future to grow. think he'll help by the end of the first year, maybe second year, can take a step into that role, or possibly move move your frontline around to help. But like we talked about when you have a young quarterback, you want a young offensive line as well to help grow and build the chemistry alongside him. For me, I think the biggest things were the valleys that they got everybody at the trades up paid off. Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Jared Shirai: And like you said, their first three picks, their first three picks hit it right off the bat. And everybody else after that is just like filling the void and filling the void for me with this team is it's a second year team brand new head coach. You're not expecting them to be phenomenal, but you're expecting them to be better than you want them to be at the end of the first ⁓ last year, because they were pretty bad last year. Keoni McKeague: Yeah, you know, funny as you kind of were talking about earlier, I was like, yeah, why didn't they add it? But I forgot they did sign actually a lot of defensive minded play or defensive players this offseason. Yeah. It's like Jermaine Johnson. Yeah, I was like, I was just really like, yeah, they that defense looks kind of stupid right now. Jermaine Johnson coming over from New York, John Franklin Myers coming over from Denver, Cordell Flott coming over from New York Giants. ⁓ Jared Shirai: Well, he got a lot of people to come over, that's why, when he did sign, that's why. But I still would have thought he would have the young. They already had Jeffrey Simmons. Keoni McKeague: Yeah, I mean, honestly, yeah, was like, it's not surprising he didn't. But yeah, I agree with you wholeheartedly that it seems like one of those things that he would have done because it seems like the to be the MO of all defensive minded coaches, right? They always like to draft their defense. But yeah, he had a lot of good pieces already. mean, but yeah, I agree. I was like, this was a this was a very solid draft for the Tennessee Titans. Definitely wouldn't have minded them maybe adding more young pieces to the defense. But they did. Jared Shirai: Yeah. Yeah. Keoni McKeague: It makes sense. They addressed a lot of that in the offseason. So let's move on to our final team. The Washington commanders here. Yeah, I know this was a long one. So anyway, the Washington commanders, they got a lot of value picks. They had to make a lot of moves. They had a lot of stuff that they were doing that they were needing to address throughout the draft. So there was a lot of that. But they did get a lot of those players. So start off. One second. Jared Shirai: You Keoni McKeague: Starting off the rip, you start off with pick number seven, Sonny Styles. I think that was probably the best linebacker prospect in this draft. I he was an athletic freak. That was the making that stood out a lot of him. I mean, he had all the tools, just kind of was trying to figure things out. But I think they finally did that in getting him in this draft and getting him in this room. They'll have a playmaker that they desperately needed. And I think that's somebody that can be a mainstay for this team heading into the future. I liked where they went with the third round pick, Antonio Williams out of Clemson, a wide receiver that I mean, wasn't at the top of my board, but somebody that I could see fitting into their system. They kind of talked about this. They have sort of like an underrated wide receiver room. You know what I mean? Like that that team in general with the McCaffrey and Terry McEloy and all that sort of stuff and all those other players. But, know, somebody that they Definitely we're working on fixing with this team Joshua Joseph's out of Tennessee and edge that can be a project guy for them And then of course Kate Ron Allen out of Penn State. do like him as a prospect So that'll be an interesting player for them But yeah interesting draft for them and I'm gonna go deal with something while you talk about this draft Jared Shirai: No, you're good. ⁓ I think I love like Sonny Siles. Like you said, he was an athletic freak that at pick number seven, probably the best person to draft in that regard. They wanted to bolster some part of the defense to get a leader out there. And he's really going to do that as well as getting Joshua Josephs in there. Josephs will probably need some tutelage as he goes in through everything. But at the same time, the defense on that side for me with Washington, I think that wasn't really the Super big address. It was more of the offensive side for me. So them going out and getting Antonio Williams Not knowing Tony McLaren what his he's getting older as well as what's his name Luke McCaffrey who was injured last year they still have Trelawn and I'm around and ⁓ Yami Brown and Van Jefferson, which is like a really good, they still have a good wide receiver room, but to add Antonio Williams, he's going to step into that wide receiver three as it's slated on the depth chart right now. And then to get a Creighton Allen, Creighton Allen in the sixth round of the sixth pick. I think that's just phenomenal there. As they are still super unsure in my opinion of like what they're doing in the running back room. We have Jacori Cross who met at Merritt. They did sign Rashad White, but past that, ⁓ who knows what happens. I don't know, since they lost Brian Robinson Jr., or they traded away, I should say, Brian Robinson Jr., I think that was one of the biggest things for me, where they have no real identity when it comes to the running back room. I did see that they did sign Jerome Ford, but we all saw what Jerome Ford did at the end of his time with the Cleveland Browns and how he fell off. So getting a young kid ⁓ in that running back room as as K-Trot Allen will be, he'll have an opportunity to fight and actually probably usurp some of these other running backs that are there. But for me, when it comes to Washington, I think they had an okay draft. They still have two more picks left as the 28th ⁓ in the sixth round and the seventh round seventh pick. There's still things that they do need to address as far as like a cornerback a center and a safety but At the end of the day when it really comes down to it This team is only going to be as successful as Jaden Daniels is healthy ⁓ I do like that They're trying to get him a little bit of weapons Hopefully, I don't think they need protection there. They just need him to sit in a pocket and not Get hurt anymore. But as they move forward for me ⁓ I think Washington did a great job of filling voids that's needed, getting younger at positions that is needed, as well as giving competition, especially in that running back room. But I think that's all I have. And dang, that was a long one. And Keoni will be back. as he deals with, have no idea what the dogs are doing. But the draft is still going on as we are in the sixth round. Pick 22. And Jacksonville is still there. We have a bunch more picks to go. But we covered as much as we could through the rounds as they came up as we did go in alphabetical order. There was a lot to... go through. if you're still here with us, we definitely appreciate you. It has been a long one. We're hoping to keep it a lot shorter, but there were, I mean, talking about 32 teams, talking about everybody and having to break down here and there about the good parts and the bad parts is always going to be lengthy. And as you can tell, when we have these long sessions, we get excited because football season is right around the corner. And as you notice, we put out more football pods than we do basketball pods because the NFL, even in its offseason, is still way more exciting than the NBA. Hopefully that'll change soon. you'll stick around to hear the after the buzzer segments as we go through the playoffs as the first rounds are still going through, possibly concluding within the next week. But if you're still here, we definitely want to let you know that we appreciate you and. listening to us as we go through everything. Keoni McKeague: Sorry about that. I had somebody smashing on my window next to me and then knocking on my door. I'm like, bro, what is going on? Oh my gosh. Yeah. Let me. What did you what did you stop talking? Because I was like, I'll cut out. cut this whole part out. Jared Shirai: I tried to like you cut that whole part out, but I was literally No, I was just talking about like how we're excited for the next season and things like that because like we it's been a long one. And as you can tell, we're super excited about football season. ⁓ We talked about how the NBA playoffs aren't really the greatest right now. And that's why we have more ⁓ fit down pods. But hopefully we'll get after the buzzer as the first round concludes. So if you guys are still here, like we definitely love and appreciate you guys as it was a long pod. So yeah, that's kind of what I talked about. But Keoni McKeague: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I will say it. Just excited about this season for the commander's picks in general. These are just really good pieces. I think they they address most of their needs in the offseason with the free agency because they had the most money. So they had the most stuff to address those needs and they did really well there. I think they did well in grabbing a guy in Antonio Williams who could be a project Clemson wide receiver for them, somebody that they can throw into the mix, especially with Terry McLaurin being there and being their number one and Jayden Daniels coming back healthy. I think that's a really good fit for him. All things told, yes, commanders look really good. I'm sorry about that. I had to step away because somebody was just smashing on my door a second ago and then my window saws. It's like, OK, what's going on? I was like, clearly there's some kind of emergency. But anyway, all things told, very good draft. We're very excited for the NFL season. Obviously, we have a lot of stuff coming up. We've got to do a full analysis. And after this is not going to be about the draft, but just more so how we feel about these teams heading into this new season. Jared Shirai: Mm-hmm. Keoni McKeague: And then, of course, we're going to have a fantasy breakdown probably with Nolan when he gets back from wherever he's coming from now. I don't even know what country he's in right now. But all that to say that very excited heading into what will be a very, very fun offseason. And yeah, you know, maybe we'll get to that after the buzzer stuff. Who knows? I was like, it's been all over a place of basketball that that league is just man. They just keep making stupid decision after stupid decision after stupid decision. So. Jared Shirai: There's some exciting series! Keoni McKeague: ⁓ It's just so much trash with the NBA in general. That's why I feel like it's been hard to go back to that. And on top of that, clearly viewership, guys haven't enjoyed it.
