- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello you guys, Welcome back to another episode of the
- 0:16Speaker 1: Hawkerel Energy Podcast. I'm your host, Kaylee, and this is
- 0:19Speaker 1: your weekly reminder that it's a new day, a new week,
- 0:22Speaker 1: a new mindset, and another day if you become the
- 0:24Speaker 1: howtral energy you want to attract. Hello you guys, Happy Wednesday,
- 0:28Speaker 1: Welcome back to another episode. I hope you guys had
- 0:32Speaker 1: a great week last week. If you're from Canada or
- 0:35Speaker 1: if you're from the States, I hope you guys had
- 0:37Speaker 1: a great long weekend for your Fourth of July or
- 0:39Speaker 1: Canada Day. I ended up taking last week off because
- 0:43Speaker 1: of that, just with Canada Day and all that, I
- 0:45Speaker 1: decided to just kind of give myself a week off
- 0:48Speaker 1: from filming and just the podcast. And honestly, even if
- 0:51Speaker 1: I did decide to record an episode, it wouldn't have
- 0:53Speaker 1: been uploaded till the Friday, and I knew a lot
- 0:56Speaker 1: of you guys would be doing something for the Fourth
- 0:59Speaker 1: of July, so I decided to just honestly have the
- 1:02Speaker 1: week off. And now we're going into this week with
- 1:05Speaker 1: a new month. We have entered July, which is so exciting.
- 1:07Speaker 1: So we thought for the first week of July it
- 1:09Speaker 1: would be perfect to do another Sip and Spell episode
- 1:12Speaker 1: because we haven't done one in a while.
- 1:13Speaker 2: So I have my sister here. Hello, she's back.
- 1:16Speaker 1: We're ready to do some questions and advice here because
- 1:21Speaker 1: we recently shared on our Instagram story a question box
- 1:24Speaker 1: to do some questions and advice that just might be
- 1:27Speaker 1: things that you guys are going through currently, whether it's
- 1:30Speaker 1: career advice or dating advice, or you know, friendship advice,
- 1:34Speaker 1: anything like that. So we figured we'd just answer any
- 1:36Speaker 1: of your questions that you guys might have and just
- 1:39Speaker 1: give our honest advice of what we think you should
- 1:42Speaker 1: do to maybe get yourself out of that difficult spot
- 1:44Speaker 1: or whatever.
- 1:45Speaker 2: The case may be.
- 1:46Speaker 1: So we did a question box. We got I don't
- 1:48Speaker 1: know how many questions as we get. We got like
- 1:50Speaker 1: we've got a lot.
- 1:50Speaker 2: We got a lot. I think we got like fifty
- 1:52Speaker 2: to sixty questions.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Definitely, I won't be able to go through all of that.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Yeah, we're going to try and go through as much
- 1:58Speaker 1: as we can. But thank you guys so much first
- 2:01Speaker 1: off for submitting all your questions, and we'll definitely do
- 2:03Speaker 1: something like this again, I think in the future because
- 2:05Speaker 1: we had such a positive feedback with just the amount
- 2:09Speaker 1: of questions that you guys wanted to ask. So I
- 2:11Speaker 1: think we're going to kind of just like go through
- 2:14Speaker 1: each section of like, Okay, we had a few questions
- 2:17Speaker 1: about career advice, we had a few questions about friendship advice,
- 2:21Speaker 1: life in general all that. So we'll just kind of
- 2:24Speaker 1: answer as we go along. But first off, I just
- 2:27Speaker 1: kind of want to talk about last week with Canada Day.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I spent my long weekend at a cottage, which was
- 2:31Speaker 1: so nice. I feel like that long weekend. I always say,
- 2:34Speaker 1: whenever there's a long weekend, oh, it's the kickoff of summer.
- 2:37Speaker 2: It's a kickoff of summer.
- 2:38Speaker 1: But I feel like the first weekend in July. I
- 2:40Speaker 1: don't know if you can agreaet Madison, but I feel
- 2:42Speaker 1: like the first weekend in July is literally the case
- 2:44Speaker 1: this summer.
- 2:45Speaker 3: I feel like summer until Canada Day.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Yeah, fine, I feel like that too.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Like May sure gets too excited about warm weather and
- 2:51Speaker 1: all that, but the weather's always a hit and miss
- 2:53Speaker 1: on the May long weekend June obviously it's nicer, but
- 2:56Speaker 1: it's not really there's I don't think there's a long thing.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Again.
- 2:59Speaker 4: Well, we also had like a really weird June, Like
- 3:01Speaker 4: it was weird weather.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Cold, yeah, some days hot, other days yeah, I agree,
- 3:06Speaker 1: sat wave like yeah, lots of rain. Like, just a
- 3:10Speaker 1: really weird month in general.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Same with May too.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I think May and June wasn't really the best at
- 3:14Speaker 1: least for us here for weatherwise. But July has been
- 3:18Speaker 1: really good, and I just feel like, well, not today,
- 3:21Speaker 1: not today, but the first other few days have been
- 3:24Speaker 1: really good.
- 3:25Speaker 3: We've had some really good days.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Yeah, so far July has been good. End of June
- 3:29Speaker 1: was pretty good. Beginning of June wasn't that good. But
- 3:31Speaker 1: now that it's like the first long weekend of July,
- 3:34Speaker 1: last weekend, I feel like that was like the kickoff
- 3:36Speaker 1: to summer. Being by the water obviously was like such
- 3:39Speaker 1: a nice thing to do, being on a boat chilling
- 3:41Speaker 1: with friends. I also feel like I haven't seen my
- 3:43Speaker 1: friends in forever, which I've talked about in the past,
- 3:46Speaker 1: just because like I feel like we're all so busy
- 3:48Speaker 1: with life that we've been having a hard time making
- 3:50Speaker 1: time for each other. So the fact that we were
- 3:52Speaker 1: all able to be present and be together on that
- 3:54Speaker 1: weekend was something that I think was really memorable and
- 3:57Speaker 1: something that we got to cherish together. And I think
- 3:59Speaker 1: that's a weekend that we all look forward to because
- 4:01Speaker 1: we all know that we'll get together on that weekend
- 4:04Speaker 1: and spend time together. So all in all, it just
- 4:06Speaker 1: was a really great start to the month and we
- 4:08Speaker 1: had a really fun time just being by the cottage.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Freddy came and enjoyed the water. Freddy's a cottage dog,
- 4:15Speaker 1: and he's a completely different dog at the cottage. I
- 4:18Speaker 1: can't even describe what kind of dog he is because
- 4:20Speaker 1: he's so different. He's going in the water, he's rolling
- 4:23Speaker 1: around in the sand, whereas like when he's here, he's
- 4:26Speaker 1: terrified of the pool.
- 4:27Speaker 2: He just like he likes me outside. But it's just
- 4:29Speaker 2: such a different dog. I don't know how to explain it.
- 4:31Speaker 1: But it's really fun seeing him like on a different
- 4:34Speaker 1: side when he's at the cottage and such.
- 4:36Speaker 2: But anyways, that was my long weekend. Do you want
- 4:39Speaker 2: to give updates on your long weekend?
- 4:40Speaker 3: So yeah, for my long weekend.
- 4:42Speaker 4: So Kaylie actually went to a cottage the weekend of
- 4:46Speaker 4: Canada Day, where I kind of stayed home. We did
- 4:50Speaker 4: like a little pool party with all my friends at
- 4:52Speaker 4: one of my friend's house.
- 4:53Speaker 3: It was so fun.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Normally I'm the same where I like to be by
- 4:58Speaker 4: a cottage and on the lake, but for the times
- 5:01Speaker 4: that I can't, it was really really fun that, you know,
- 5:04Speaker 4: we got to just kind of get together and have
- 5:06Speaker 4: a pool party. We played corn hole, we played spike ball,
- 5:11Speaker 4: and we did fireworks at night.
- 5:13Speaker 3: It was just so fun. It was so so fun.
- 5:16Speaker 4: And then I ended up going to my boyfriend's cottage
- 5:20Speaker 4: this past weekend.
- 5:22Speaker 3: So I just got back yesterday.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Actually, so you got your cottage fix.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I got my cottage fixed in the weekend after
- 5:28Speaker 4: and yeah, pretty much like Kaylee said, just being by
- 5:31Speaker 4: the water was so nice.
- 5:33Speaker 2: We went on the boat, we went on the sea duke.
- 5:36Speaker 1: There's something about a cottage, I have to be honest.
- 5:38Speaker 1: It just like that's when summer has just like fully
- 5:40Speaker 1: supped in. Like being by the water is just something nice.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Watching the sunsets also like the best. Yeah.
- 5:46Speaker 4: I literally spent the entire morning yesterday because it was
- 5:49Speaker 4: such a beautiful day. I spent the entire morning. I
- 5:52Speaker 4: picked up a chair, put it on the dock, and
- 5:54Speaker 4: I just sat and looked at the water. My boyfriend's like,
- 5:57Speaker 4: what are you doing? And I'm like I'm just bracing,
- 6:00Speaker 4: Like I just love being by the water by the lake,
- 6:05Speaker 4: like I was watching the boats go by.
- 6:07Speaker 3: I want kids too, Bang.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I wonder it was just because peaceful, Like I wonder
- 6:11Speaker 1: if we feel that way because we never grew up
- 6:13Speaker 1: by a cottage. So for us, we like really cherish
- 6:15Speaker 1: those moments, whereas if you grew up like with the
- 6:17Speaker 1: cottage or on the water, I feel like you're used
- 6:19Speaker 1: to that, so you might not just be like, oh,
- 6:21Speaker 1: it's just like another typical night by the cottage, right,
- 6:24Speaker 1: So for us, like my parents had the decision of
- 6:27Speaker 1: either getting a pool in the backyard or getting a
- 6:29Speaker 1: second property as a cottage, and they decided to get
- 6:31Speaker 1: the pool, which we obviously love going in the pool
- 6:33Speaker 1: and having that, but I think we kind of missed
- 6:35Speaker 1: out on the cottage face.
- 6:37Speaker 2: So for us, like whenever we do go to a cottage,
- 6:39Speaker 2: I think we.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Just like fully, I get so like, I don't know,
- 6:42Speaker 1: I love it too, Like I think it's just such
- 6:43Speaker 1: a fun thing to do. And now we want to
- 6:45Speaker 1: buy a cottage for our future kids, Like we're talking
- 6:48Speaker 1: about doing that with my parents, of just owning a
- 6:49Speaker 1: family cottage and being able to have our kids go
- 6:52Speaker 1: up and all that, just because we didn't get to
- 6:53Speaker 1: experience that, so we want our kids to be able
- 6:56Speaker 1: to experience it.
- 6:56Speaker 4: Yeah, And it's just like I feel like summer doesn't feel.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Like summer unless you're out of cottage.
- 7:02Speaker 1: That's just yeah, or like camping or just by and
- 7:05Speaker 1: by water. Yeah, I agree, being by the water in
- 7:08Speaker 1: the summer definitely.
- 7:09Speaker 3: Definitely.
- 7:10Speaker 4: It makes me excited for the future of like our kids, Yeah,
- 7:15Speaker 4: you know, us going all to the cottage together and
- 7:17Speaker 4: having that shared second.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I think also so many people talk about like mon
- 7:21Speaker 1: Talk and Nantucket and the Hampton's and just like seeing
- 7:24Speaker 1: that lifestyle everyone being by the water and like it's
- 7:27Speaker 1: in the summer.
- 7:28Speaker 2: It's just like very peak of summer. Yes, the peak
- 7:30Speaker 2: of summer exactly.
- 7:31Speaker 1: So one day I hope to visit those places and
- 7:34Speaker 1: have a little trip out to like mon Talk and yeah,
- 7:36Speaker 1: all that.
- 7:36Speaker 2: I think that's definitely on my buckets trip.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Yeah. Obviously Europe is super fun too, but like having
- 7:42Speaker 1: something like that is also like more like cottage core.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, East coast.
- 7:47Speaker 4: Summer kind of yeah, coastal summer, but.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Nova Scotia could be fun too in the summer. Like
- 7:52Speaker 1: here in Canada. I feel like that could be like
- 7:54Speaker 1: the Canadian version or like New Brunswick or Vancouver that.
- 7:58Speaker 4: I've now found like a new like like want to
- 8:01Speaker 4: go to Nova Scotia.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I think since watching We Were Liars.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I know, I can't wait.
- 8:06Speaker 3: I don't have this in my own country.
- 8:08Speaker 1: I could not believe that that was filmed in Nova Scotia.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Crazy.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I'm sure you guys know that We Were Liars show
- 8:13Speaker 1: on Amazon Prime.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Literally, I'm obsessed with that show. The ending was so sad.
- 8:18Speaker 1: We're not gonna give it away because Madison in the
- 8:20Speaker 1: last episode, but we found out later on that it
- 8:23Speaker 1: was a film in Nova Scotia and I was like
- 8:25Speaker 1: wow it yeah, same, and it's so beautiful.
- 8:28Speaker 2: It was like Nantucket, like yeah, it just.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Makes you realize how much like we should be appreciating
- 8:33Speaker 1: our own country.
- 8:34Speaker 3: So not going like sidetracked.
- 8:36Speaker 2: I know, I know. So let's get into this episode.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Here's us like really just embracing summer.
- 8:41Speaker 3: But hey, why we can't.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Get through all Yeah, this is because we spend eleven
- 8:45Speaker 1: minutes recording the intro.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Anyways, let's get into the freaking point of this episode.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Okay, So first off, we're going to talk about some
- 8:51Speaker 1: questions that you guys gave for friendship advice. We had
- 8:55Speaker 1: a few just about like long distance friendships, maybe friends
- 8:59Speaker 1: keeping secret things like that. So we're going to answer
- 9:01Speaker 1: some of the questions that you guys had. Okay, So
- 9:03Speaker 1: the first question was knowing when and how to let
- 9:05Speaker 1: go of people and outgrown friendships and things that no
- 9:08Speaker 1: longer serve you. Okay, So I've been through a few
- 9:12Speaker 1: different outgrown friendships. That was very Yeah, that was very
- 9:16Speaker 1: difficult for me because one friendship that I had, it
- 9:20Speaker 1: was a girl that I grew up with since I
- 9:22Speaker 1: was six years old, and it was really hard because
- 9:27Speaker 1: we were really really close the entire time through high school.
- 9:31Speaker 1: We played sports together, like same soccer team, same ragnette team.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Like I'm talking, attached to the hip. And then you know,
- 9:39Speaker 1: once we started to go to university in college, you know,
- 9:42Speaker 1: I feel like we all kind of start to become
- 9:45Speaker 1: not like our true self, but we do become a
- 9:47Speaker 1: bit of a different person.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I think you kind of figure out who you are
- 9:49Speaker 2: around that age.
- 9:50Speaker 1: I was like twenty one, twenty two, you know, I
- 9:52Speaker 1: just wasn't really into to be fully transparent.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I wasn't really into drugs or anything like that.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Where this girl that I was hanging out with, she
- 9:59Speaker 1: was very much like in that environment, Like she loved
- 10:01Speaker 1: the party scene, she loved to do those kind of things,
- 10:05Speaker 1: and that just obviously we kind of became part we
- 10:09Speaker 1: grew apart because we weren't spending as much time together
- 10:11Speaker 1: because you know, she'd want to spend her weekends doing that,
- 10:13Speaker 1: where I would want to like do fun things like
- 10:16Speaker 1: go to the beach or like, you know, just spend
- 10:18Speaker 1: my time doing things that weren't about drugs and alcohol essentially, right,
- 10:23Speaker 1: So I think that's kind of how like we grew apart.
- 10:26Speaker 1: And in that moment, I'm trying to remember how it
- 10:28Speaker 1: felt to like lose a friend because obviously, like we
- 10:32Speaker 1: were so close for so many years.
- 10:33Speaker 2: But I think it kind of made me realize that you.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Don't want to like force yourself to be with someone
- 10:38Speaker 1: in that environment, or you know, be friends with someone
- 10:41Speaker 1: that you guys don't have the same passion or the
- 10:43Speaker 1: same you know, things that you can relate on.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Like, I think it just made me.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Realize that we were growing apart, and that we were
- 10:50Speaker 1: growing into two different people and we had different you know,
- 10:53Speaker 1: hobbies and things that.
- 10:55Speaker 2: We actually enjoyed.
- 10:56Speaker 4: I also think, like to answer kind of the question
- 10:58Speaker 4: of like knowing when to let go, I think you
- 11:02Speaker 4: know when to let go when it almost feels like
- 11:06Speaker 4: you don't necessarily want to hang out with them, but
- 11:09Speaker 4: you think it's forced to because you're trying to keep
- 11:12Speaker 4: that friendship like that glue stick that glue together or whatever.
- 11:16Speaker 4: The saying is like, yeah, I was going to get
- 11:18Speaker 4: trying to like hold that friendship together. I think that's
- 11:21Speaker 4: when you know when it's yeah, it's and you don't
- 11:24Speaker 4: have to be so hard on yourself to just like
- 11:27Speaker 4: stop trying. Yeah, you know, Like I feel like that's
- 11:31Speaker 4: kind of an.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Indication of like, and to be honest, I think about
- 11:34Speaker 1: my own situation. I'm very good at like answering questions
- 11:37Speaker 1: when I related to something that actually happened to me.
- 11:38Speaker 1: So that's kind of like how I'm answering it this way,
- 11:40Speaker 1: and Madison's better at like kind of essentially explaining what
- 11:44Speaker 1: my situation is in like the answer format. But that
- 11:48Speaker 1: was the exact situation where I felt forced to make
- 11:52Speaker 1: plans with her because I'm like, Okay, well, I don't
- 11:55Speaker 1: want to lose this connection with this girl that I've
- 11:56Speaker 1: had forever, like, I'll make it work, We'll figure out
- 11:59Speaker 1: something that we can get in common with and all that,
- 12:02Speaker 1: and then eventually you realize that it's like, okay, if
- 12:04Speaker 1: I have to put this much effort into making it
- 12:07Speaker 1: last or making it work, and it's just not working.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Because even when we did hang out, it wasn't it
- 12:13Speaker 1: wasn't the same, it was different, and then it felt
- 12:16Speaker 1: it felt wrong and forced exactly, like it felt like,
- 12:19Speaker 1: why am I doing this to myself? I'd rather be
- 12:22Speaker 1: friends with someone when it's easy and it feels good
- 12:25Speaker 1: and that you guys are both that's how you supposed
- 12:27Speaker 1: to be and that's how it's supposed to be exactly.
- 12:30Speaker 1: That's the same if you think about relationships. It's the
- 12:32Speaker 1: same kind of way, right exactly.
- 12:34Speaker 4: So I think that kind of you know, explain explains
- 12:38Speaker 4: knowing when I feel like that's a good indication.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I think it really needs to align your your hobbies
- 12:45Speaker 1: and align your passions. And if it doesn't align, then
- 12:48Speaker 1: and you guys are as you said.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Forcing is like the keyword.
- 12:51Speaker 1: If you're trying to force something and it just feels
- 12:53Speaker 1: like you're forcing it, then it's not it's not going
- 12:56Speaker 1: to work out. So you need to just make sure
- 12:58Speaker 1: that when you're hanging out with your friends, it's easy
- 12:59Speaker 1: to make.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Plans with them.
- 13:00Speaker 1: It's easy to know that you guys are both actually
- 13:03Speaker 1: enjoying your time together because you both wanted to do this.
- 13:05Speaker 1: You didn't want to, you know, have two different separate nights,
- 13:08Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Someone wants to have a
- 13:10Speaker 1: chill night, someone wants to go out. It's like, okay, well,
- 13:11Speaker 1: if the person's always wanting to go out and I'm
- 13:13Speaker 1: always wanting to chill, then it's eventually going to end
- 13:16Speaker 1: because you're realizing that you're not.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Both passionate about the same things.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:20Speaker 1: So I think that kind of solves the answer of
- 13:22Speaker 1: knowing when you know when the friendship is unfortunately coming
- 13:26Speaker 1: to an end and that it's a little bit out grown.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I guess, and I guess in terms of like how
- 13:30Speaker 1: to let go of these people, but I think you
- 13:33Speaker 1: need to have that. I think it's all about the mindset. Yeah,
- 13:35Speaker 1: I think it's all about realizing that if you if
- 13:39Speaker 1: you are realizing how much effort you have to put
- 13:41Speaker 1: into the friendship, then you have realized that you've outgrown
- 13:45Speaker 1: it and that it's time for you to step aside
- 13:48Speaker 1: and put more energy towards the people that are actually,
- 13:51Speaker 1: you know, wanting to do the same things as you
- 13:53Speaker 1: and wanting to actually spend time with you.
- 13:55Speaker 4: Right.
- 13:55Speaker 1: I think there also is a sign of, like, you know,
- 13:57Speaker 1: if the person's not reaching out to you and you're
- 13:59Speaker 1: making effort, there's way like if.
- 14:02Speaker 4: If you feel, let's say that you're always the one
- 14:05Speaker 4: reaching out and trying to make these plans and even
- 14:08Speaker 4: though you feel forced to because it's kind of the
- 14:10Speaker 4: relationships outgrown, maybe you can kind of take a step back, yeah,
- 14:14Speaker 4: and put your energy either towards yourself or towards those
- 14:18Speaker 4: other friendships that actually serve you.
- 14:21Speaker 3: That's kind of a way.
- 14:22Speaker 2: It's all about the mindset, it's all about the.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Kind of taking a step back the best way to
- 14:27Speaker 4: go about it.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I agree.
- 14:29Speaker 1: The next question is how to survive long distance friendships
- 14:32Speaker 1: besties who live in different states and how so. I
- 14:36Speaker 1: have a girlfriend that does not live here, which you
- 14:38Speaker 1: guys know trend. She lives in Vancouver, which is literally
- 14:41Speaker 1: on the other side of Canada. When I say other side,
- 14:43Speaker 1: I'm talking the other side, like like five five hour flight,
- 14:47Speaker 1: like no way of driving there, and definitely find that
- 14:51Speaker 1: it's hard to obviously like not see her as much,
- 14:53Speaker 1: and like, of course, I think our dream would be
- 14:55Speaker 1: to live in the same city or the same even
- 14:58Speaker 1: the same province would have been nice because then at
- 15:00Speaker 1: least we'd be like somewhat driving distance from each other.
- 15:03Speaker 1: But I think how to survive a long distance friendship,
- 15:05Speaker 1: I think as long as you guys are both putting
- 15:07Speaker 1: in the effort to constantly create communication is so important,
- 15:11Speaker 1: Like FaceTime, facetiming, I say, time as much as we
- 15:14Speaker 1: probably FaceTime, I would say once every three weeks, we'll
- 15:17Speaker 1: reach out saying, hey, how are you?
- 15:19Speaker 2: How are they? Catch up?
- 15:20Speaker 1: Well, literally plan a date. We'll be like, okay, when
- 15:22Speaker 1: do you want to FaceTime this week? Or when do
- 15:24Speaker 1: you want to FaceTime next week? Like, let's set a date, okay, Thursday,
- 15:26Speaker 1: this day, okay, perfect. We will dedicate like an hour
- 15:29Speaker 1: or two of our time and we will just literally
- 15:31Speaker 1: sit there and talk for hours and just catch up.
- 15:34Speaker 1: And that right there makes me feel good with the
- 15:36Speaker 1: friendship because I'm like, okay, we both have dedicated time
- 15:39Speaker 1: out of our day to hear about what's going on
- 15:42Speaker 1: with our life, you know, just having that mini catchup,
- 15:44Speaker 1: it just kind of proves to each other that we're
- 15:46Speaker 1: both putting in the effort in this long distance friendship
- 15:49Speaker 1: and we both want to continue our friendship. And that's
- 15:51Speaker 1: how we're making the effort by setting up those little
- 15:54Speaker 1: calls and content communication.
- 15:57Speaker 4: You know, to follow up with that which you've done,
- 16:00Speaker 4: which is like setting up trips to.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Go see each other.
- 16:02Speaker 4: Yeah right, Yeah, that's really really important. I think in
- 16:07Speaker 4: a long distance friendship is making sure you are still
- 16:11Speaker 4: making the effort to see each other on both ends,
- 16:13Speaker 4: like it obviously can't be one sided, you know, like
- 16:16Speaker 4: both making the effort to be like, oh, hey, like
- 16:19Speaker 4: you come see me or I come see you like
- 16:22Speaker 4: you know, so I think that is another.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Big thing to face thing for sure. Yeah, I definitely
- 16:29Speaker 1: want to do that with Trent. We've definitely have been
- 16:32Speaker 1: wanting to like book a little time together. Do you
- 16:34Speaker 1: have I don't know if we have long distance friend
- 16:36Speaker 1: to you, I don't have any like very very close
- 16:39Speaker 1: like Montreal, Like, well, yeah, I have some friends that
- 16:41Speaker 1: live like two hours away.
- 16:43Speaker 4: I have some friends, like I have a few friends
- 16:45Speaker 4: in Toronto or in Montreal, that I've gone to visit.
- 16:48Speaker 4: I have one friend who I've gone to visit twice now.
- 16:51Speaker 4: I went for her birthday, did a little girl's trip
- 16:54Speaker 4: with my other friends to go see her in Montreal.
- 16:57Speaker 1: One of the guys both make the effort, which is good,
- 16:59Speaker 1: like she'll come here for things'll.
- 17:01Speaker 4: So she actually I went to Montreal for her birthday,
- 17:05Speaker 4: and then she came to Ottawa for my birthday and
- 17:08Speaker 4: specifically made the trip out to come for my birthday,
- 17:11Speaker 4: which was so sweet.
- 17:12Speaker 3: So yeah, like I said, it's always got to be like.
- 17:14Speaker 4: Two sided, where you know, I wanted to go see
- 17:17Speaker 4: her just as much as she wanted to come see me.
- 17:21Speaker 4: One of my actual like best childhood friends maybe moving
- 17:25Speaker 4: to Vancouver, which.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I'm like so depressed about it, yeah, which is so hard,
- 17:29Speaker 1: really hard.
- 17:30Speaker 4: But I know, because we're just such good friends, I
- 17:33Speaker 4: know we're gonna make it work. And she's already like
- 17:36Speaker 4: talking about me coming to see her, like you know,
- 17:38Speaker 4: so I think just the way to survive it is
- 17:42Speaker 4: making those plans to see each other, you know, knowing
- 17:45Speaker 4: that it's like you have a set time of when
- 17:48Speaker 4: you're gonna see each other, right, like it's not forever
- 17:51Speaker 4: like you're never gonna not see each other again, like
- 17:54Speaker 4: as long as you have that plan, like oh, three
- 17:56Speaker 4: more weeks or whatever the time is until I get
- 17:58Speaker 4: to see them. And so making the time to have
- 18:02Speaker 4: those spacetime calls or phone calls h and always kind
- 18:05Speaker 4: of like checking in with each other I think is
- 18:07Speaker 4: the best way to.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Kind of survive a long distance friendship.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, the next question is friendship is a big
- 18:13Speaker 1: thing for me, and I find it's hard to find
- 18:15Speaker 1: people that like my vibe. Okay, hear me out. This
- 18:18Speaker 1: is something that I could relate to so hard right now,
- 18:21Speaker 1: because I think as I've aged, I've obviously become like
- 18:26Speaker 1: very much still in the health and wellness space, like
- 18:29Speaker 1: love to go to my workout classes all that, and
- 18:32Speaker 1: I'm telling you right now, none of my friends, I
- 18:34Speaker 1: want to say none, Okay, maybe not none. I want
- 18:36Speaker 1: to say, like twenty percent of my friends do workout
- 18:38Speaker 1: classes as well, but it's not the same kind of
- 18:40Speaker 1: workouts that I like. So yeah, you know, they go
- 18:42Speaker 1: to the gym or they do like a lot of
- 18:44Speaker 1: heavy lifting, whereas for me, like I'm not really into that.
- 18:47Speaker 1: I'm more into like pilates, cardio, more lightweight workouts kind
- 18:51Speaker 1: of thing. So you know, the odd time will like
- 18:53Speaker 1: invite friends like, oh you should come do this with me,
- 18:55Speaker 1: like come try it out, whatever, And sometimes my friends
- 18:57Speaker 1: will come, sometimes.
- 18:58Speaker 2: They don't whatever.
- 18:59Speaker 1: So I had a really hard time because I feel
- 19:01Speaker 1: like when you obviously work out with friends, it makes
- 19:04Speaker 1: it a little bit more fun or like with your
- 19:06Speaker 1: sister or whatever, right, so and like less intimidating, Yeah,
- 19:10Speaker 1: who doesn't really, especially when you want to try new workouts.
- 19:13Speaker 1: It's you know, less intimidating to go with a friend
- 19:16Speaker 1: versus by yourself, and like going into a class that
- 19:18Speaker 1: you don't really know what to expect.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Right.
- 19:20Speaker 1: So I have been going to plots now for almost
- 19:22Speaker 1: two years, and I've finally met friends through the class,
- 19:25Speaker 1: and now we literally arrange our workout classes to be
- 19:29Speaker 1: the same classes throughout the week, which is so fun.
- 19:31Speaker 1: So I was able to make friends within something that
- 19:35Speaker 1: I actually enjoy doing, which is Pilate's And now I've
- 19:38Speaker 1: found people who have the same but vibes me where
- 19:41Speaker 1: we can actually start arranging things around our schedules to
- 19:44Speaker 1: accommodate doing something fun together. So it makes you realize
- 19:48Speaker 1: that you can have friends for different things and different reasons,
- 19:51Speaker 1: like you.
- 19:51Speaker 4: Can still have friends who may not like the same things,
- 19:57Speaker 4: and you know, I think finding those things that you
- 20:01Speaker 4: like and doing those things, and you know, it's it's
- 20:04Speaker 4: always a little intimidating going to like a workout class
- 20:07Speaker 4: by yourself and then trying to talk to somebody. But
- 20:10Speaker 4: trust me, I'm sure whoever you may be, you may
- 20:15Speaker 4: see somebody you're like, oh, I really like her vibe.
- 20:17Speaker 3: I feel like I could be friends with you.
- 20:19Speaker 4: Nine times out of ten they probably are in the
- 20:22Speaker 4: exact same boats.
- 20:23Speaker 1: One hundred percent. So and let's be honest, like, you
- 20:26Speaker 1: can never have too many friends exactly. You need friends
- 20:29Speaker 1: for different reasons. Like think about you growing up. You
- 20:31Speaker 1: had friends with your sports, you had friends at high school,
- 20:34Speaker 1: you had friends maybe if you did dance, Like you
- 20:36Speaker 1: had friends for different reasons all the time. So as
- 20:39Speaker 1: you age and as you become an adult, you can
- 20:41Speaker 1: think of it in the same type of format where
- 20:42Speaker 1: it's like you have friends that you know, you've been
- 20:44Speaker 1: friends with forever, and you make the effort of doing hangouts,
- 20:47Speaker 1: you know, at nights and just chill time or walks
- 20:50Speaker 1: or workout classes, like it could all be for different things.
- 20:53Speaker 2: So I think the moral of the.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Story is that you can never have too many friends,
- 20:57Speaker 1: and that if you've been wanting to find friends that
- 20:59Speaker 1: match your vibe and you want to make the effort
- 21:01Speaker 1: of making friends, it's all about talking to people seeing
- 21:04Speaker 1: if they fit your vibe. And yeah, even reaching out
- 21:07Speaker 1: on social media is also a great way of meeting
- 21:09Speaker 1: new friends or just like seeing if they fit your vibe.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Another topic that we got asked a lot about was
- 21:15Speaker 1: career advice. So we're going to talk about some questions
- 21:17Speaker 1: here that we had about that. The first big question
- 21:20Speaker 1: that I think we got a lot of was how
- 21:22Speaker 1: did you decide your job after college. I'm a sophomore
- 21:25Speaker 1: and I'm a bit stressed about figuring out what you
- 21:27Speaker 1: want to do. First off, do not stress about being
- 21:30Speaker 1: finished school and trying to figure out your life right
- 21:32Speaker 1: after that, because I think everybody has this mindset where
- 21:36Speaker 1: they need to figure their shit out the first year
- 21:38Speaker 1: after college. Oh my goodness, guys, please do not stress
- 21:41Speaker 1: that out because usually I would say, you're done college
- 21:44Speaker 1: and university. You're on like twenty three, twenty four. You're
- 21:46Speaker 1: still so young to not realize what you want to do.
- 21:50Speaker 1: If you're you know, going down the doctor route or
- 21:52Speaker 1: if you're going down the teacher route or whatever, like
- 21:54Speaker 1: you kind of had that vision of what you want
- 21:56Speaker 1: to do, right, you know, like.
- 21:57Speaker 3: The set plan, the pathway.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Of getting there and all that.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Whereas if you went to business like me, you could
- 22:03Speaker 1: really do anything. You could get into sales, you can
- 22:05Speaker 1: get into marketing, you can go down the accounting.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Route, like, there's so many things that you can do.
- 22:09Speaker 1: So for me, when I think about myself, when I
- 22:12Speaker 1: just got out of college, I was so lost, like
- 22:15Speaker 1: I had.
- 22:15Speaker 2: No idea what the fuck I was doing.
- 22:16Speaker 1: I'm not even never exaggerating, like I didn't even know
- 22:19Speaker 1: where to apply.
- 22:20Speaker 2: I didn't even know what I.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Was going to Like, So I actually started working for
- 22:23Speaker 1: this health and wellness company, and I actually started to
- 22:26Speaker 1: work in all departments. Like I literally was thrown in
- 22:29Speaker 1: every type of situation, which I really liked and I
- 22:32Speaker 1: was very grateful for because it made me realize what.
- 22:36Speaker 2: You know, I actually liked in what I didn't like.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Right, So, in the beginning, I was kind of doing
- 22:40Speaker 1: like the buyer sense, where I was actually purchasing products
- 22:43Speaker 1: from vendors to sell at the store. So I was
- 22:46Speaker 1: doing that for about six months. You know, it's kind
- 22:49Speaker 1: of fun to like online shop, yeah, online shop essentially,
- 22:52Speaker 1: and it's kind of like you feel like you're a
- 22:54Speaker 1: stylus in a way, right because like you're picking things,
- 22:56Speaker 1: you know, for certain collections like fall, summer all that.
- 23:00Speaker 2: And it's not like I didn't like it.
- 23:01Speaker 1: I just think what I didn't love is like a
- 23:04Speaker 1: corporate job in general. To be fully transparent, like I
- 23:07Speaker 1: didn't love sitting at a computer. Everyone, it's not for everyone.
- 23:09Speaker 1: I didn't love sitting at a computer for nine to five, Like,
- 23:11Speaker 1: I just it wasn't my obsession, Like I just I
- 23:14Speaker 1: didn't love it. And so I've always had this passion
- 23:18Speaker 1: for marketing. I would say, like I really have always
- 23:21Speaker 1: loved creating videos, creating photos, editing, So you know, I
- 23:24Speaker 1: kind of had this mindset. I'm like, oh, hey, maybe
- 23:25Speaker 1: I'll be a graphic designer or maybe I'll own my
- 23:28Speaker 1: own business one day. I really had this vision of
- 23:30Speaker 1: owning my own business since I was like I don't know,
- 23:33Speaker 1: like twenty two.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Remember I wanted to start a bikini line one time.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Like I just have always had this motivation of starting
- 23:38Speaker 2: something on my on my own right.
- 23:40Speaker 1: And then when social media became such a big thing,
- 23:43Speaker 1: I didn't think it was honestly going to be my career,
- 23:45Speaker 1: but I was like, you know what, I'm just going
- 23:47Speaker 1: to start.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Doing this and see what comes out of it.
- 23:49Speaker 1: And then when I figured out that it could actually
- 23:51Speaker 1: be a career of mine, that's when I realized that,
- 23:54Speaker 1: oh crap, like this is what I want to do,
- 23:56Speaker 1: Like I want this to be my full time thing.
- 23:57Speaker 1: I love it. I feel like it's something that I'm
- 24:00Speaker 1: super passionate about.
- 24:01Speaker 2: And just being able.
- 24:02Speaker 1: To like film videos and do some marketing for brands
- 24:06Speaker 1: and being able to promote their products, like it just
- 24:08Speaker 1: felt like the right path. And I think that's also
- 24:10Speaker 1: a sign of when you start to realize what you're
- 24:12Speaker 1: good at and what feels you, then you become more
- 24:16Speaker 1: obsessed with your job and you actually like are motivated.
- 24:18Speaker 2: To because never become a job anymore, no, exactly passion.
- 24:23Speaker 2: It's your passion.
- 24:23Speaker 1: And then you just when you're when you love your
- 24:26Speaker 1: passion so much, you become very good at it and
- 24:28Speaker 1: then you just don't want to stop, like you like
- 24:30Speaker 1: you just become you become obsessed, and then you realize
- 24:33Speaker 1: that Okay, if you're obsessed with this, then you know
- 24:36Speaker 1: that this is what's going to bring you through the
- 24:38Speaker 1: right career path and such. So I think the moral
- 24:41Speaker 1: of the story is is that don't stress about not.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Knowing what you'd want to do. Just explore everything.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Try different things, you know, if you decided to go
- 24:49Speaker 1: down the business route in school, try to apply maybe
- 24:52Speaker 1: for different things, trying out different you know, sectors of
- 24:55Speaker 1: the business world, and then you kind of realize what
- 24:58Speaker 1: you enjoy and then that makes you realize what path
- 25:01Speaker 1: you need to go down. And again you might be
- 25:03Speaker 1: at two to three, maybe four different jobs within that timeframe, right, Like,
- 25:08Speaker 1: don't say please, do not stay in a spot if
- 25:10Speaker 1: you're not enjoying it. Like, I really can't stress that enough.
- 25:12Speaker 1: I do think loving your job is something that allows
- 25:15Speaker 1: or to realize how much how important it is because
- 25:19Speaker 1: it really does like play out on how it affects you,
- 25:22Speaker 1: how your mental health is, and how you feel in general.
- 25:24Speaker 4: So I feel like this is such a good question
- 25:28Speaker 4: for me to kind of touch on because this is
- 25:30Speaker 4: something I'm still figuring out, true because I just finished
- 25:35Speaker 4: my masters and I don't have my full time career
- 25:40Speaker 4: job yet. And I'm still figuring that out, and I've
- 25:43Speaker 4: had mental breakdowns.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Like you can ask Sally.
- 25:46Speaker 4: I've gone to her and I've had a mental breakdown,
- 25:48Speaker 4: and I'm being the big sister saying it's okay, you're
- 25:50Speaker 4: going to figure it out. And I think that's like
- 25:53Speaker 4: the best advice I can give is to almost just
- 25:58Speaker 4: accept the fact that you're going to figure it out,
- 26:02Speaker 4: like just really focus on that and also kind of
- 26:07Speaker 4: enjoy it. Like I feel like I've gotten a lot
- 26:10Speaker 4: of advice from my friends that I feel like has
- 26:14Speaker 4: really helped.
- 26:15Speaker 3: Where.
- 26:16Speaker 4: You know, I've been in school since like back to back,
- 26:20Speaker 4: Like I never really took a break in between. Like
- 26:23Speaker 4: I went from straight from high school to my undergrad
- 26:26Speaker 4: and then pretty much right for my undergrad into my master's.
- 26:30Speaker 4: So I never really took a break, And so a
- 26:33Speaker 4: lot of my friends are like, just enjoy it.
- 26:35Speaker 3: I feel really blessed and lucky that I get.
- 26:37Speaker 4: To kind of take this time to actually figure out, Okay,
- 26:42Speaker 4: what is it that.
- 26:43Speaker 2: I want to do.
- 26:44Speaker 4: And so I've been obviously job searching and applying to
- 26:48Speaker 4: all these jobs, and I think through that process it's
- 26:51Speaker 4: really helped me realize the career path I want to take.
- 26:56Speaker 4: Like I will say that through job searching, I have
- 27:00Speaker 4: looked at complete opposite of jobs and career paths, and
- 27:04Speaker 4: yet they all still apply to me in a way.
- 27:07Speaker 4: They're just so different because I'm still figuring it out,
- 27:10Speaker 4: like I still.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Don't know what I want to do. If anything.
- 27:13Speaker 4: It's funny, I recently actually had an interview for this one.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Job, and you thought it was going to go good.
- 27:20Speaker 3: I thought it was gonna go great.
- 27:22Speaker 4: I was like I was going into it thinking like, oh,
- 27:25Speaker 4: this is this is gonna be my job. Like I
- 27:27Speaker 4: really was very passionate about it. And I got to
- 27:31Speaker 4: the interview and it was so different from what I
- 27:35Speaker 4: had expected, and it made me realize, Okay, this is
- 27:39Speaker 4: a position now I'm avoiding, Like I don't.
- 27:41Speaker 3: I don't want that position.
- 27:42Speaker 2: You can avoid that exactly.
- 27:45Speaker 4: So Yeah, I think my best advice to give is
- 27:48Speaker 4: to just, you know, don't be so stressed all the
- 27:51Speaker 4: time about trying to find a job, and you know,
- 27:54Speaker 4: seeing that everyone has their shit figured out, just be
- 27:57Speaker 4: okay with and just be accepting of the fact that,
- 28:02Speaker 4: like you're figuring it out and that's okay, and enjoy it.
- 28:05Speaker 4: Enjoy figuring it out, Like, be happy that you get
- 28:09Speaker 4: to choose your path right now and you get to
- 28:12Speaker 4: figure it out. I think that would be the best
- 28:15Speaker 4: advice I can give.
- 28:16Speaker 1: I think another advice that I'd like to add on
- 28:18Speaker 1: to your point is also realizing what's meant to be
- 28:21Speaker 1: versus what's not, because I think what's another thing that
- 28:24Speaker 1: people are stressing about is they're going into these interviews thinking, oh,
- 28:27Speaker 1: this is the perfect job, like I know it's from me.
- 28:29Speaker 2: I know it's from me. And then you don't get
- 28:31Speaker 2: the job.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Just know that it's a sign to tell you that
- 28:34Speaker 1: this wasn't meant for you, like exactly, take it as
- 28:37Speaker 1: a sign, don't take it as a negative. And if
- 28:39Speaker 1: anything allowed that to be your motivation to keep going
- 28:42Speaker 1: and find that dream job, it just means that there's
- 28:45Speaker 1: something better that's coming for you and that you really
- 28:47Speaker 1: just need to have that mindset when you are looking
- 28:49Speaker 1: for the right career.
- 28:50Speaker 4: Have that mindset, the same mindset you would have when
- 28:53Speaker 4: it comes to relationships. You know, the saying like there's
- 28:56Speaker 4: there's so many fish in the sea, Well it applies
- 28:59Speaker 4: to too. Just because you don't get that one job
- 29:03Speaker 4: that you thought was your perfect career job, your perfect
- 29:07Speaker 4: dream job, Like that's okay, there's gonna be other jobs
- 29:11Speaker 4: out there that are probably more perfect for you.
- 29:13Speaker 1: That are kind of open up and exactly realized. I'm
- 29:17Speaker 1: so happy I didn't get that other job because it
- 29:19Speaker 1: allowed me to get to this point now actually getting there.
- 29:22Speaker 4: I feel like also as somebody who's kind of going
- 29:24Speaker 4: through the job search and interview process right now, it
- 29:27Speaker 4: honestly makes it way less nerve wracking when you're going
- 29:32Speaker 4: into an interview where you're like, Okay, this is it's
- 29:36Speaker 4: not the end of the world if I don't get
- 29:37Speaker 4: this job, And honestly, I feel like I do better
- 29:40Speaker 4: in the interview because I'm not overly anxious and I'm
- 29:43Speaker 4: not like desperate, like oh my god, I need this job,
- 29:46Speaker 4: where like everything's like nothing's going to work out. And
- 29:50Speaker 4: I honestly feel like it's helped doing that, Like I
- 29:52Speaker 4: feel way more chill in an interview and like way
- 29:55Speaker 4: less stress knowing like, Okay, it's not the end of
- 29:57Speaker 4: the world if I don't.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Get this job, and I think it just as you said,
- 30:01Speaker 1: it allows you to kind of like take your time
- 30:03Speaker 1: and search and it just makes you realize, like what
- 30:05Speaker 1: ones you can apply for that you're actually extremely interested
- 30:08Speaker 1: in and not feel the stress of like I need
- 30:10Speaker 1: to get something right now.
- 30:11Speaker 4: Yeah, instead of being stressed, honestly, just enjoy it because
- 30:14Speaker 4: it is a fun time in your.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Life figure out, Oh my god, and also just like
- 30:18Speaker 2: so exciting. Let's think about this.
- 30:20Speaker 1: You I see so many tiktoks about this, but you
- 30:22Speaker 1: were only able to live the one age once in
- 30:25Speaker 1: your life, essentially, right. So it's like people always talk
- 30:27Speaker 1: about how being in your twenties and thirties are the
- 30:30Speaker 1: best years of your life. So when you do have
- 30:33Speaker 1: that break and you don't have the stress of having
- 30:35Speaker 1: a kid's or a family or a mortgage to worry about, like, truly,
- 30:39Speaker 1: just enjoy that essentially stress free life because your life
- 30:43Speaker 1: doesn't get stressful until you have more responsibility like that, right,
- 30:46Speaker 1: So truly, just enjoy the best years of your life
- 30:49Speaker 1: and not stress and realize that the good things will
- 30:52Speaker 1: be coming and that the right job will come at
- 30:55Speaker 1: the right time and you'll realize when it does come.
- 30:58Speaker 2: Yeah, all right.
- 30:58Speaker 1: The next one is all about adulting, so advice just about.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Like living alone, just growing up, being in your mid
- 31:05Speaker 2: twenties all that.
- 31:06Speaker 1: So the first question we had was living alone for
- 31:09Speaker 1: the first time, How do you deal with it? How
- 31:11Speaker 1: did you kind of like overcome the fear? Essentially, And
- 31:16Speaker 1: I personally, I guess didn't have that experience because I
- 31:19Speaker 1: moved in with Zach, but essentially, like I am living
- 31:22Speaker 1: alone because when Zach does travel and all that, I
- 31:24Speaker 1: do have to be independent and essentially, let's be.
- 31:27Speaker 3: Honest, she asks me to come over, that's a solution.
- 31:31Speaker 2: No, don't even I'm an independent woman. I don't need
- 31:33Speaker 2: you guys always here.
- 31:34Speaker 1: But I do actually cherish my alone time now, like
- 31:37Speaker 1: when Zach is a way I do actually like, yeah,
- 31:40Speaker 1: you haven't actually asked me recently to come home? No,
- 31:43Speaker 1: because I think as you age you kind of realize
- 31:46Speaker 1: like how much you cherish the times alone, and then.
- 31:50Speaker 2: You get to a point where you want people. But
- 31:52Speaker 2: then there's like you need like a bit of a mixing,
- 31:55Speaker 2: but a social medi also need. And then when you die,
- 31:57Speaker 2: there's a serial killer in the closet. Then actually, know what,
- 32:00Speaker 2: I have been good?
- 32:01Speaker 1: Maybe it's because I watch less horror movies lately, but yeah,
- 32:04Speaker 1: I haven't had.
- 32:06Speaker 4: Honestly, like, living alone can be really, really scary. Especially
- 32:10Speaker 4: if you're somebody who has always like lived with their parents.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I've been close to home.
- 32:18Speaker 1: But I think in general, leaving your house, like leaving
- 32:20Speaker 1: your family home and leaving your parents is freaking weird,
- 32:23Speaker 1: let's be honest, Like it's so. I remember the first
- 32:26Speaker 1: like month of me moving out, I felt like I
- 32:29Speaker 1: was constantly at my parents' house, Like on the weekends,
- 32:31Speaker 1: I'd be like, oh, yeah, like I'm just coming over
- 32:32Speaker 1: for a pool there, you know what I mean. Like
- 32:34Speaker 1: I didn't really like, yeah, sure, moving out with your
- 32:37Speaker 1: boyfriend or husban or friend whatever it is like roommates.
- 32:41Speaker 1: You know, it's it's fun.
- 32:42Speaker 2: The idea is exciting and it's exciting.
- 32:44Speaker 1: But then when you're doing it, sometimes you kind of realize,
- 32:48Speaker 1: oh wait, but I kind of like miss being with
- 32:50Speaker 1: my family because you realize there's so much responsibility when
- 32:53Speaker 1: you live alone, right, Like there's so many.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Things that you don't think about, like cleaning up a house.
- 32:58Speaker 1: You know, Oh, now you have a mortgage to figure out,
- 33:01Speaker 1: a rent that you have to pay, and it becomes
- 33:03Speaker 1: obviously something that could be stressful because now you're really
- 33:06Speaker 1: just doing everything yourself and you're not getting the help
- 33:09Speaker 1: essentially from your family to help support you. And of
- 33:12Speaker 1: course your parents are always going to find ways to
- 33:14Speaker 1: support you in different ways.
- 33:15Speaker 2: But at the end of the.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Day, like you do have to build confidence in yourself
- 33:19Speaker 1: to be able to do things alone. And that's why
- 33:21Speaker 1: parents push you to live alone and be out of
- 33:23Speaker 1: the house and realize your independence and like the responsibility
- 33:27Speaker 1: of just yeah, being alone.
- 33:29Speaker 4: And I think like the best advice I could give
- 33:34Speaker 4: for that is, like, I mean I've never like truly
- 33:39Speaker 4: lived alone, so I can't really say from like full
- 33:42Speaker 4: personal experience, like I've had roommates, but just like seeing
- 33:46Speaker 4: like Kaylee kind of navigating it. I think the best
- 33:50Speaker 4: advice like, if you are close to home, make those
- 33:53Speaker 4: trips home when you need and you're having a hard day,
- 33:56Speaker 4: it's okay to like go back home, Like that's totally okay.
- 34:00Speaker 4: So if you can do that, great, like take advantage
- 34:03Speaker 4: of that because I think, you know, kind of being
- 34:06Speaker 4: back with your family kind of like makes you feel
- 34:10Speaker 4: it makes you feel good, yeah, like, and I think
- 34:12Speaker 4: that kind of helps the process, and yeah, that's part
- 34:15Speaker 4: of the process.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I think in the beginning, it's it's a massive adjustment,
- 34:19Speaker 1: like it's never gonna fully you're not gonna move out
- 34:21Speaker 1: and be like yep, I'm gonna have my ship figured
- 34:23Speaker 1: out like no one. And I mean if they think
- 34:25Speaker 1: that's the case, I mean, that's shocking to me. But yeah, regardless,
- 34:28Speaker 1: I think you're always gonna feel a little weird the
- 34:31Speaker 1: first few months when you do move out and kind
- 34:33Speaker 1: of have this sense of missing your family and your
- 34:35Speaker 1: home and all that sudden, but you do end up
- 34:39Speaker 1: like building confidence in a way. Once you start to
- 34:41Speaker 1: live alone for a bit, you you realize, okay, you
- 34:45Speaker 1: almost like there's like this switch in your mind where
- 34:47Speaker 1: it's like, Okay, I need.
- 34:48Speaker 2: To be independent, like I need to figure shit out myself.
- 34:51Speaker 1: And that's how you kind of create an adulthood of
- 34:53Speaker 1: yourself by and going through the adulting phase of like Okay,
- 34:57Speaker 1: I can do this shit myself, like.
- 34:59Speaker 2: You just putting yourself in that site.
- 35:00Speaker 4: I think there's gonna probably be days that are harder
- 35:03Speaker 4: than others, and there's gonna be days that are better
- 35:06Speaker 4: than others. You know, maybe creating like a schedule or
- 35:10Speaker 4: like making a plan, like Okay, let's say you're feeling
- 35:13Speaker 4: overwhelmed with like how much cleaning you need to do
- 35:16Speaker 4: or whatever the case may be. Like writing that down
- 35:19Speaker 4: to plan everything out, I think would be really beneficial.
- 35:22Speaker 4: And also keeping yourself busy, like I know for me,
- 35:26Speaker 4: like when I'm like feeling like anxious or like stressed
- 35:31Speaker 4: or whatever.
- 35:32Speaker 1: The case may be, there's always something to distract yourself. Now,
- 35:35Speaker 1: there's always something fully Like especially.
- 35:37Speaker 4: Living alone, you can find something clean the bathroom, like, figure's.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Something higher house.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe do some meal prepping, do some baking, go
- 35:44Speaker 1: to the grocery store, Go to the grocery store.
- 35:46Speaker 2: You could do so many things. Like literally, I feel
- 35:49Speaker 2: like I actually like have a hard time.
- 35:51Speaker 4: And your body will like adjust, Like I'm somebody who
- 35:55Speaker 4: absolutely hates change, Like I absolutely hate it, but change
- 35:59Speaker 4: in life, life is inevitable. Like yeah, you can't like
- 36:02Speaker 4: avoid it, like that's gonna happen. It didn't happen, and
- 36:05Speaker 4: it's probably gonna be hard for the first few weeks.
- 36:08Speaker 4: Your body is just you know, not used to it.
- 36:10Speaker 4: But trust me, you will adjust and it will always
- 36:15Speaker 4: get better.
- 36:16Speaker 1: It's never I actually was gonna say, like there's so
- 36:18Speaker 1: much responsibility for a house in general and living alone
- 36:21Speaker 1: that sometimes I have a hard time actually like going
- 36:23Speaker 1: to see friends and all that because I realize how
- 36:25Speaker 1: much that has to get done in the house.
- 36:27Speaker 2: And things that I have to do.
- 36:29Speaker 1: So yeah, just know that living alone is amazing, Like
- 36:32Speaker 1: it truly is, and I think.
- 36:33Speaker 3: It probably figure out a lot about yourself.
- 36:36Speaker 1: I was just about to say that you figure out
- 36:37Speaker 1: so much, You learn so much about yourself and it
- 36:39Speaker 1: makes you realize, like how it's one of the best
- 36:42Speaker 1: things you could ever go through as.
- 36:43Speaker 3: I feel like you're more productive too.
- 36:45Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, because like me being somebody who lives at home, like, oh, well,
- 36:49Speaker 4: my mom can do my laundry, oh my.
- 36:51Speaker 2: Mom, yeah, cook me dinner, And when you're living alone,
- 36:53Speaker 2: it's like, oh, I.
- 36:54Speaker 3: Don't have to do that.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Well I don't have I don't have a butler. Yeah,
- 36:58Speaker 2: I don't have a nanny, hires myself.
- 37:02Speaker 1: No, it's and it's truly like like the most rewarding
- 37:05Speaker 1: thing too, just like knowing that you're able to do
- 37:07Speaker 1: these things yourself, like cooking for your good I bet.
- 37:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it does feel really good. Okay.
- 37:12Speaker 1: The next question we had about adulting is what to
- 37:15Speaker 1: prioritize in your mid twenties. Is it your career, is
- 37:17Speaker 1: it your relationship with maybe your boyfriend or is it traveling.
- 37:22Speaker 2: I mean, I think it's all the above.
- 37:25Speaker 4: Well, I think this is kind of a hard question
- 37:28Speaker 4: to talk about because I think it's very specific to
- 37:31Speaker 4: eat a person like somebody may be there may be
- 37:35Speaker 4: a person out there who's like very very adventurous and yeah,
- 37:39Speaker 4: they want to prioritize in their twenties, is visiting as
- 37:43Speaker 4: many countries as possible, whereas another person, like for example, me,
- 37:48Speaker 4: may have flight anxiety. Yeah it is perfectly okay with
- 37:51Speaker 4: stay put on the ground.
- 37:52Speaker 1: And then you realize that your prioritize is more my
- 37:55Speaker 1: career right Like.
- 37:57Speaker 4: I think my biggest priority right now would be my
- 38:01Speaker 4: career and finding my passion. And I think navigating, Like
- 38:06Speaker 4: if you are trying to navigate focusing on your career,
- 38:10Speaker 4: focusing on a relationship, but still also wanting to be
- 38:14Speaker 4: adventurous in travel, it is hard to prioritize all three
- 38:18Speaker 4: and trying to figure out like what to prioritize first,
- 38:22Speaker 4: I think is going to be different for everyone. And
- 38:24Speaker 4: I think you need to sit down with yourself and realize, Okay,
- 38:28Speaker 4: like where do I want, like what makes me the
- 38:32Speaker 4: most happy and where do I want to kind of
- 38:35Speaker 4: like put my time towards because it is possible to
- 38:39Speaker 4: do all. It's just about you know, figuring out and
- 38:44Speaker 4: trying it. Plan.
- 38:45Speaker 1: So this is what I want to touch here, because
- 38:47Speaker 1: this is why I talk about vision boards so much,
- 38:50Speaker 1: because your vision board really allows you to figure out
- 38:53Speaker 1: what your year has in store for you. Yeah, and
- 38:56Speaker 1: I like it's a mix of every Yeah, And let's
- 38:58Speaker 1: be honest, mid twent doesn't mean one age. Mid twenties
- 39:02Speaker 1: means like five to six ages, right, So you might
- 39:04Speaker 1: be thinking, Okay, when I'm twenty five and twenty six,
- 39:07Speaker 1: I really want to focus on traveling, right Like I
- 39:09Speaker 1: want to get my young years done of traveling to
- 39:12Speaker 1: as many different countries as I want. And then by
- 39:14Speaker 1: twenty six twenty seven, I really want to put the
- 39:16Speaker 1: career focus on me, focusing on.
- 39:18Speaker 2: My career, getting my shit and gear.
- 39:20Speaker 1: And maybe that's on top of also managing your relationship
- 39:23Speaker 1: or maybe you know you're not in a rush to
- 39:25Speaker 1: find a relationship. You're really just wanting to figure out
- 39:27Speaker 1: your career and traveling, and maybe you want a relationship.
- 39:30Speaker 4: I think also too, the best part about being in
- 39:34Speaker 4: a relationship, if you are in a relationship is essentially
- 39:38Speaker 4: doing life together.
- 39:40Speaker 1: So I was just about to say this, if you
- 39:41Speaker 1: want to travel, then travel with your partner.
- 39:44Speaker 2: Like, this is exactly what I had.
- 39:46Speaker 1: I did though, So when I was right after college,
- 39:49Speaker 1: I you know, worked for this company, was doing different
- 39:51Speaker 1: types of you know jobs in their business department. But
- 39:55Speaker 1: I wasn't really stressed about finding my career because I
- 39:58Speaker 1: was actually traveling alon with Zach at the time. We
- 40:02Speaker 1: would go to Europe, you know, visit all these different countries,
- 40:04Speaker 1: and I was banking all my vacation time to use
- 40:07Speaker 1: it towards trips with him, right, So we were making
- 40:10Speaker 1: our priority as a couple to do traveling together right exactly.
- 40:14Speaker 1: And then we both also kind of went through the
- 40:16Speaker 1: phase of you know, slowing down and realizing, Okay, now
- 40:20Speaker 1: we need to both kind of prioritize our careers. Let's
- 40:22Speaker 1: figure out out our ship. You figure out way and
- 40:24Speaker 1: figuring out what I'm doing.
- 40:25Speaker 4: Even with prioritizing your careers, if you're with the right person,
- 40:29Speaker 4: they're going to be your biggest cheer.
- 40:32Speaker 1: And that's when you know it's the right person because
- 40:34Speaker 1: you're doing it together and you want to you know,
- 40:37Speaker 1: there's things together right like.
- 40:40Speaker 4: You can still prioritize your career and still prioritize at
- 40:47Speaker 4: the same time your relationship because your partner should be
- 40:51Speaker 4: in full support of your career and it should also
- 40:55Speaker 4: be as much as it is your passion. They should
- 40:58Speaker 4: be passionate about how much you.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Love your job. If that makes any sense.
- 41:03Speaker 4: It does make with for example, Kayley and Zach, like
- 41:07Speaker 4: Zach is like you know, showing up and showing showing
- 41:11Speaker 4: in the videos, like making the time.
- 41:13Speaker 1: To nothing is for everything nothings like he wants to
- 41:17Speaker 1: be there. He knows your passion because he knows it's
- 41:20Speaker 1: my passion. And I mean I can't do the same
- 41:22Speaker 1: for his job unfortunately, because I'm actually goes and yeah,
- 41:26Speaker 1: I actually go to the construction site and you know,
- 41:29Speaker 1: I do my thing.
- 41:30Speaker 2: He actually has, you know, wanted me to show up
- 41:34Speaker 2: to the job. So you know what if there was
- 41:36Speaker 2: a time, yeah, she could show up, I was she would.
- 41:39Speaker 1: But you know what, you know what I would say
- 41:41Speaker 1: that I always do show up in terms of like
- 41:44Speaker 1: his career and like showing that I do care and
- 41:46Speaker 1: such is that when he's building stuff outside, for example,
- 41:49Speaker 1: you know, I'll ask questions about like oh, like you know,
- 41:52Speaker 1: if he's drilling something I don't. I don't know anything, right,
- 41:55Speaker 1: So I show I care by like asking questions and
- 41:58Speaker 1: kind of talk about his career because he's very passionate
- 42:01Speaker 1: about it obviously, And then you know what he does.
- 42:02Speaker 1: He sometimes here, yeah, I'll show you, like he kind
- 42:05Speaker 1: of shows me how to you know, I actually did
- 42:07Speaker 1: a few boards on the deck, not gonna lie, So
- 42:09Speaker 1: I did kind of participate in building the deck.
- 42:10Speaker 2: It was two boards, not.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Gonna, not gonna you know, well it's like times, but
- 42:15Speaker 1: I did do it. But he, you know, he tried
- 42:17Speaker 1: to get me involved, and I tried to show that
- 42:19Speaker 1: I cared by learning how to use a drill, how
- 42:22Speaker 1: to drill a board.
- 42:23Speaker 2: I mean, did I have to make that effort.
- 42:25Speaker 1: No, But because he puts so much effort in my career,
- 42:27Speaker 1: I wanted to like show up for.
- 42:28Speaker 2: Him and like exactly help him out.
- 42:30Speaker 4: It's the same too, like for example, with my relationship,
- 42:33Speaker 4: Like I don't fully understand what my boyfriend does as
- 42:36Speaker 4: a career, but I ask a lot of questions, and
- 42:38Speaker 4: like he appreciates when I ask these questions, and when
- 42:41Speaker 4: I want to be show, you know, more about it
- 42:45Speaker 4: and what he's doing because it shows that I care
- 42:48Speaker 4: and I love that it's his passion yea. And I
- 42:52Speaker 4: want to be there, right there with him to you know,
- 42:55Speaker 4: celebrate the little wins in his career when he gets
- 42:57Speaker 4: promoted or whatever you you.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Know, the case may be, I want for each other.
- 43:02Speaker 4: I'm getting excited because I feel like I'm right there
- 43:05Speaker 4: with him, and I know it's the same with me,
- 43:08Speaker 4: Like he's been really helping me with your job searching
- 43:11Speaker 4: and graduation.
- 43:12Speaker 3: I actually just I wrote.
- 43:14Speaker 4: A paper on my master's work and I just found
- 43:17Speaker 4: out this morning that my paper got accepted which is
- 43:20Speaker 4: going to be published, which is so exciting. And the
- 43:22Speaker 4: first thing he said to me was where can I
- 43:24Speaker 4: read it? Like he instantly wanted to read it. So yeah,
- 43:28Speaker 4: I feel like you know that question of like what
- 43:31Speaker 4: to prioritize in your mid twenties, knowing that like it
- 43:36Speaker 4: doesn't have to just be one thing, and it also,
- 43:40Speaker 4: like I said earlier, it may be different for everyone,
- 43:43Speaker 4: like everyone's going to have a difference.
- 43:45Speaker 1: But I think it's all about planning exactly.
- 43:47Speaker 4: Like if you are somebody who wants to prioritize everything,
- 43:50Speaker 4: plan it out, like Kaylee said, you know, maybe if
- 43:53Speaker 4: you want to travel to a bunch of countries, plan
- 43:56Speaker 4: out okay, at this age or in these months, like.
- 44:00Speaker 2: From January to March or whatever. Everyone's going to have
- 44:03Speaker 2: their own timeline.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Right in terms of like what stages they want certain
- 44:07Speaker 1: things to be a priority in different times in their life.
- 44:09Speaker 1: So this is why I stress the importance of vision
- 44:13Speaker 1: boards and like monthly goals and all that, because I
- 44:15Speaker 1: think you can't achieve all these things if you actually
- 44:19Speaker 1: like set yourself up for these small wins and like, and.
- 44:22Speaker 5: It shouldn't it shouldn't be stressful prioritize everything, like you
- 44:27Speaker 5: definitely can do it all and figure it out if
- 44:32Speaker 5: you know, you just kind of, like I guess, set
- 44:34Speaker 5: your mind to it.
- 44:35Speaker 1: Yeah, And financially, like you got to like think of
- 44:37Speaker 1: your finances, saving money and like all that.
- 44:41Speaker 2: You just it's all about creating a plan for yourself
- 44:43Speaker 2: and whatever works best for you.
- 44:44Speaker 4: Because what works best for you may not work best
- 44:47Speaker 4: for someone else, and that's okay. You figure out what
- 44:50Speaker 4: you need to prioritize. I feel like it's hard, especially
- 44:52Speaker 4: in your twenties, you compare yourself a lot to other people's,
- 44:56Speaker 4: Like you may see somebody who's traveling the whole world
- 44:58Speaker 4: and you're like, wait on, want to do that, but
- 45:00Speaker 4: that's not what's best for me, Yeah, in this right moment,
- 45:03Speaker 4: and that's okay. What somebody else may prioritize may not
- 45:06Speaker 4: be what you need to prioritize, and that's totally okay. So,
- 45:10Speaker 4: like Kiley said, making that vision board and figuring out
- 45:14Speaker 4: what you need to prioritize is the best way to go.
- 45:18Speaker 1: And I think it's okay to also understand that, Like
- 45:20Speaker 1: I think I'm sure you guys have heard from your
- 45:22Speaker 1: parents whether they'll be like, oh, if there was one
- 45:25Speaker 1: regret that I had from when I was living young,
- 45:27Speaker 1: was doing this and doing this, Like you also have
- 45:29Speaker 1: to understand that no one's life is perfect and then
- 45:31Speaker 1: everyone's always going to have something that they may have
- 45:34Speaker 1: regretted or whatever. And again never say never, right, these
- 45:38Speaker 1: things that your parents might regret, now, who knows, they
- 45:41Speaker 1: might be able to do it when they're in their
- 45:42Speaker 1: senior year in terms of like you know, when they've retired,
- 45:45Speaker 1: maybe they can travel more because they didn't travel enough
- 45:47Speaker 1: in their twenties. Now they can travel together as a
- 45:49Speaker 1: senior couple and doing cruises together or whatever the case be.
- 45:52Speaker 1: But so like never say never in terms of like
- 45:54Speaker 1: thinking that you have a timeframe of when you need
- 45:56Speaker 1: to complete things too, because like, not everyone's life is perfect.
- 46:00Speaker 2: That's not the reality.
- 46:01Speaker 1: Exact reality is is just like taking every year by
- 46:04Speaker 1: year a step by step process of just you know,
- 46:07Speaker 1: completing whatever you're prioritizing or whatever your goal is and
- 46:11Speaker 1: knowing that you can do all these things if you.
- 46:13Speaker 2: Plan it out in a timely manner.
- 46:16Speaker 1: Well, that concludes our episode for the day today. I
- 46:19Speaker 1: hope you guys enjoyed this episode. It definitely was very fun.
