- 1:13[SPEAKER_04]: I've never been allowed to be the turkey guy.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_04]: There's always been some old guy and her family that had to do the turkey.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_04]: I guess I'm about to become that old guy in the years ahead, so you have to start learning.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_03]: I was going to say that you're getting there, all right.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_03]: You look at more of like the guy that that huts the turkey.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_04]: You know, you're perfect.

- 1:32[SPEAKER_04]: We have squirrel here.

- 1:38[SPEAKER_04]: What do you all do is that like I'm sure you just like you.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_04]: Do you make a turkey or what do you think the turkey just like you?
- 1:44[SPEAKER_03]: You make a turkey.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, we are normal Americans.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_03]: Stop things and string beans and the whole nine.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_04]: So to the mandal currency, y'all do like y'all make the turkey already all cater it in is it like a whole big event We make the turkey you make it you make it we buy the bird from the store and it's made Oh, I just I love learning about New York
- 2:08[SPEAKER_04]: where we're we're pretty normally here y'all are pretty funny this is so good what y'all doing what do y'all doing Wilmington North Carolina turkeys do y'all have turkeys or y'all have doesn't what y'all have this year there will be no turkeys we're actually going to
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: Good boy.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: Keyland, we're going to do it.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: We're headed down to Disney this year with all 13 of the Ham Squad, my brother, his kids, mom and dad.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so, but normally, yes, same deal.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: I will tell you this, the Ham family
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: Thanksgiving tradition that will not be broken this year is what's called strawberry stuff.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: It is strawberry pretzel salad.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a layer of pretzels with butter and sugar, and then it's whipped cream, cream cheese, and then it's like strawberries on top.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's something we do every year.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's called strawberry stuff.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: That is our tradition that will not be broken.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: Is it good?
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's fantastic.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: Can I have some?
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's amazing.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: I'm held to you.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_04]: I'll overnight.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_04]: Current overnight in me a pizza once I'm and get and tell me that he overnighted him.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_04]: So they sat on my porch for four days when I was in Florida and I never got to eat him.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think that was me actually.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_03]: I think that was Nick Tucker.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_03]: Nick Tucker sent him to me.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_03]: Nick Tucker said he was pieces.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_03]: Not me.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_04]: Really?
- 3:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think I told you about it.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: That is fantastic.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: Well, well, not to go off track, but, you know, it was, it is Thanksgiving week.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: So we just wanted to have a little bit of chatter about it, but Davenin to today's episode boys.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: We are well into season two.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: We've gotten through the gamut of the sports card CEO interviews and now we're Davenin to some hobby talks and hobby news.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: And we start every episode off with the round table.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: Last, you're not batting lead off today, buddy.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: We'll put you in the third hole, the third slot.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: Bubba, you lead off, then I'll go then current.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I'm officially, I've been kind of dabbling my way back, but I'm officially back.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_04]: And I think current can vouch for this.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, he's back in a big way.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_04]: Well, you can probably vouch for this even.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_04]: Like my brain is like on.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_04]: business overdrive again about cards and what we're going to do and I'm I'm just excited like I mean I'm I've started to buy again.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_04]: I've got to get pulled from the market again.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_04]: I've started to compile my list which I hope that I hope we're going to talk about here very soon.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_04]: I sent current kind of my initial list of value guys by low guys for gotten guys.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_04]: That's going
- 4:39[SPEAKER_04]: You'll get that list too.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_04]: I, this was just a, uh, this was the validation thing.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_04]: Say, what do you think and he shot my list down and like, like, like, he could take your list and shove it up your ass.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_03]: Here's my list.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_04]: He said, why don't, why do you like Spencer jazz?
- 4:53[SPEAKER_04]: That's because he hits bombs and he steals bases.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_04]: These six seven.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_04]: And that's why I like him.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_04]: He's Aaron, Derek, to point them.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_04]: You'll see.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_04]: You'll see.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, next spring when he cracks the order everybody's going to want Spencer Jones, but while we're on that topic, because the gentleman hasn't replied to me, so we're going to go public with this roast to start off.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_03]: That's going to be waiting for this one.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so I sold the Spencer Jones superfactor.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if this gentleman's a listener or not, but I'm going to just kind of bring it out there and hope that maybe he'll respond after this before I have to take his name public.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_04]: Big time collector in the hobby guy is a movie producer who said, hey, I want to buy I'll tell you now if he doesn't reply after this episode then his name comes following But we made a deal.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_04]: He contacted me.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_04]: I had flashed a Spencer Jones.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_03]: I have any Context which was probably back.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_04]: This was like maybe like August
- 5:54[SPEAKER_04]: You know, going into like September when Spencer Jones was the hottest hitter in the minor leads.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_02]: I followed that.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, he was just destroying the cover off the baseball and I just posted a picture of the car and he said, I want the car and we had multiple conversations about it.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_04]: He wanted to get comfortable with me and that me and I said, okay, you know, let's whatever you need to do to get comfortable, we wanted to vet me and then we agreed on a price.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_04]: And he said, you know, would you mind if it took a week or so to get paid?
- 6:24[SPEAKER_04]: And I said, not a problem.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_04]: Well, time went on down the line.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_04]: Another week went by the two weeks went by say, what's going on?
- 6:30[SPEAKER_04]: He said, oh, you know, I've got a partner on this card.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_04]: He wants to come in with me, but now he's bailing out.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_04]: And he said, so I want to go in 50% on this card with you.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_04]: I said, no, I said, I'm not going to give you 50% option on this card.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_04]: You're either buying it or you're not.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_04]: I'll just sell it next spring when the dude gets the call and he's a great player.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_04]: And that'll be the end of it.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_04]: And he said, OK, no, I'll buy it.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_04]: And so then he, he sends me a legal document made by his attorney, okay, that this lays out how he's going to pay he's going to pay over the repayments.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_04]: That's fine.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_04]: I said, hey, I don't like some of this verbiage clear that out.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_04]: Recent it.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_04]: He did have him rescind it.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_04]: I sign it.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_04]: and he has since then ghosted me.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_04]: I've sent him the document that says I'm gonna sell him the Spencer Jones and XYZ amount of dollars.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_04]: He agrees to buy me.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_04]: He never sent me back a sign copy of it.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_04]: And so I've since then messaged him, called him.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_04]: Voice texted him and said, guy, like, I get you're not going to buy it at this point.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_04]: I get that you're ghosting me, but I'm not comfortable with the fact that you had me sign a document.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_04]: You've got my signature agreeing that I'm going to sell you this card for XYZ.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_04]: And then when I go to sell this card, you're going to try to come back one day and say, hey, I've got this card.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_04]: So, I want to bring that up for a conversation to you guys, but I'm going to give him one more week before I just unload the can and I'm going to let him have a happy Thanksgiving.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_04]: hope he has a really good turkey and then he's he's he's he's either going to send me something that avoids this document which I can deal with the fact that he's being a skill and bag and he's backing off by in the guard.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_04]: I can deal with that but I'm not going to deal with the fact that he took my signature and made me sign this document and now he's not responding to that.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not cool with that.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_04]: So I want to get you guys opinion on that.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_04]: That's how my week's going.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_04]: It's good good there.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: Well, uh current do you want to
- 8:19[SPEAKER_03]: You know, my input.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_03]: I think you should call this mother effort out right now.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what you're waiting for.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_03]: I actually don't know what purpose it serves to call them out either.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, like, I doubt he listens to the show, but I don't know what else you're good.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what else you're going to do.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes you're shit out of luck, but this is kind of like last resort.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_03]: I think the guys is.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_03]: a scumbag, it's not true to his word, and, you know, I think it should be out there to the public, at least to know that anybody doing it deal with him, that he hasn't, you know, that anybody doing it deal with him now or in the future that.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_03]: So I put it to have it to bring his name up now that he shouldn't be trusted.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, go ahead.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_04]: Well, his name, his name is Armando, okay, and he's Instagram handle.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_04]: His Instagram handle, let's look it up here.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_04]: who pro-fractor collector is is it's all together, pro-fractor collector, and his name is Armando, and he lives in Miami, and he is in the movie producing industry.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_04]: And again, I mean, seemed like a nice enough guy, and I get things happen.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I'm a pretty forgiving guy, but like, dude, I just, I feel like he's just, like, he's just ghosted me.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_04]: Like he'll respond to like, man, he's been really busy on a project, and then he goes online and posts on Instagram,
- 9:35[SPEAKER_04]: any ball.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, you bought a ring.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_03]: It's fun.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_03]: It's fun too, right?
- 9:39[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_04]: No risk.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_04]: Now he'll just be like, hey, been really backed up.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_04]: I'll call you tomorrow.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_04]: Never calls.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_03]: Not so super frac your collector in Instagram, right?
- 9:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_03]: Listen, big dog Armando.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_03]: Answer Gary Bubba Wilson or we'll make sure that you never buy a button.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_03]: Another Bowman card again.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_03]: I promise we're going to ruin you.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_03]: You boys are scumbag answer answer even if you don't want to buy the card just tell Gary they don't want to buy the card Don't be that guy.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_03]: I'm obviously kidding that you're never going to buy another moment card again But like just answer be a human being you're obviously a businessman your movie producer or whatever like Answer the guy.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_03]: There's nothing more that I can't stand than that being ghosted especially when you have a deal find up like Something a 12 year old with you know
- 10:23[SPEAKER_04]: Damn, what's your thoughts?
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I am, I don't know.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of this in the hobby, unfortunately.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think a lot of it has come public lately with what's going on behind the scenes.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think anybody who thinks this stuff doesn't happen super naive.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: The question is, is how do you insulate yourself from this moment, right?
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: There's two issues to me.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: Number one is somebody not honoring their word.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: That's a valid issue.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: If you say you're going to do something and you have communication and agreement to do something, do that thing or have clear communication as to why you're not doing that thing, right?
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like that to me is just being a person of your word and having integrity and communicating very clearly with what's going on.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: That's the one issue.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: The secondary issue is, you know, demanding someone sign a document, you know, and then not executing on that document.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: So now you've actually put something in writing that's legal or whatever, right?
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: And so I get the idea of, you know, why you have great concern about your name being on a document.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: Like I understand that and that's 1,000% something that I would pursue, you know, from some type of legal perspective, but making sure that you're covered there.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think the other piece to this is like, unfortunately, when you don't work, see, here's the deal.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: You work with auction houses and now you've got shield beds and fake accounts and all this kind of stuff that we've been seeing going on all over the place.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: Are you don't work with auction houses and you've got people like this that goes to your own cards and, you know, make you sign documents on this kind of stuff.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like your damn if you do, damn if you don't,
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just an issue in this hobby and it's an unregulated hobby, it's not the, you know, trading stocks or whatever.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know there's issues here, but I'm just per I'm a person who is less inclined to kind of like publicly address issues.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_03]: Here's the thing, here's the issue I have with it, right?
- 12:10[SPEAKER_03]: It's it's very prevalent in a hobby obviously, right, but it's it's to me it's very unexpected from somebody like this.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_03]: that seems to have, you know, somewhat of a high profile Instagram.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, people know who this guy is, right?
- 12:24[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I think he owns it.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_03]: He's really big, uh, NASCAR card.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_03]: Is that like, what it is?
- 12:29[SPEAKER_03]: Um, yeah.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I don't know.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_03]: Somebody like that.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_03]: And people know who it is.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_03]: Like, it's just unexpected.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_03]: So kind of hits a little different.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: Well, to that point, there was a guy, there's a group on Facebook that we're a part of
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: and their particular gentleman and there he was just banned from old school because he was trying to kind of like scam people out of like multiple six figure deals and he was reputable in the hobby everything was positive and all of a sudden I think he kind of tried to trail that reputation into scamming some people out of some money.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: And they kicked him out of the group and I think there's some legal stuff going on.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we actually are working on the pretty big deal right now.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: And I was telling little Matt this, I said, you know, just because somebody had a reputation doesn't mean that something couldn't change.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and when times get tough and times get difficult,
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: People's true colors come to life and if they're in a survival moment and they're just having to kind of get through They're going to do what they need to do to survive even if that means kind of screw somebody else over So you always have to have your radar on because it can happen and it can have very very
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: So you have to be very aware of your dealing with people in a lot of money and people when they're dealing with a lot of money and they get put in a tough position.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_00]: They'll do all kinds of crazy stuff.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: So just a reminder for me to say, be very cautious when you're navigating these types of issues and know that you're in the Wild Wild West.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: And in the Wild Wild West, it really boils down to do you have a big enough gun to solve the problem.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: you know, and that's a scary thought, you know, when you get into the nitty gritty of it, because there's guys like us, fathers and sons, you know, and I always think about this with little Matt, like he's a 15-year-old kid, and he's wiring people money, and if somebody screwed him out of 10 grand, 12 grand, could he ever really recover from that?
- 14:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like he probably would recover from it, but like we're not going to get the money back.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know, not to mention a six figure card.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_00]: So like, doing this, it's massive.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's a big issue.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_04]: I think it becomes part of the learning curve for us and the hobby.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_04]: What we already know this and y'all know this if you're a listener of the show.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not a person that does a lot of private deals in the first place.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I really do usually don't do private because of this kind of stuff because people waste your time They want to knock you down over a couple dollars and it's always like what about the cop here and this and that I'm like look I don't care about giving you 90 percent I get 95 percent all day long and every platform 95 96% so why don't want to sell it to you for 90 and then deal with your stuff But what it really taught me I think in this situation is
- 14:56[SPEAKER_04]: that I don't want to shut down doing private deals.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_04]: I'm at both of you guys through that.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_04]: That's a great people through private dealings.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_04]: But I think what it is, I'm going to be a lot more firm.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_04]: We want a card like that where a player's hot.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_04]: But if you want this card,
- 15:12[SPEAKER_04]: Like, you know, yeah, you're just going to be able to pause it.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_04]: There's going to be something that is going to happen because especially somebody I don't know, you know, because if you don't what this guy did and there's no doubt my mind, this is what happened.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_04]: He bought some time.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_04]: And he thought that Spencer Jones was going to get the call.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_04]: Cause Spencer Jones was going to get the call right there about that time.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_04]: And the Yankees did not call him up.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_03]: So I see what happened.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_04]: And then he decided, oh, no, the guy that was going to put money and maybe you did have a partner bailed out.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_04]: And then now he thinks I'm just going to forget about it.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_04]: And I would have probably forgotten about it.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_04]: Not that I really would have forgotten about it, but I would have forgave it.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_04]: But when he made me sign the document to me, he took it to another level.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and he made it a true 1,000% business decision when you're having me sign a legal document from your attorney and some got we got to air that out because that's been bothering me for a while I haven't mentioned it on the show, but I am going to learn from it.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_04]: I am one of those guys you can get me once you might get me twice, but I will get better in this space because of it and.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_04]: I've been burning a couple of times.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_04]: I do want to tell the story at some point, and I don't know if today's the episode maybe at the end.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_04]: I've got another really interesting story in hand.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_04]: You'll remember this before I even knew you current about card trading and cleaning and some stuff that happened there with somebody I really trusted.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_04]: I've been burning a couple of times in this space, and I think that makes for an interesting story, but But anyway, just wait till I burn you.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_04]: I'm looking forward to that, sir.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking forward to that, sir.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, I know where his office is, I'm a good boy.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_00]: So, no, it's super interesting, though, this brings up a really, really good point.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_00]: And it was part of our topic today, and we're kind of in a roundtable mode, but unfortunately, we are in a hobby where there's a great amount of risk that you're taking, not only with just buying volatile assets, but you're actually taking relational risks of trusting people.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: And we all do this in the hobby.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, do you vouch for this guy?
- 17:11[SPEAKER_00]: Do you vouch for this guy?
- 17:12[SPEAKER_00]: Do you vouch for this guy?
- 17:13[SPEAKER_00]: Dude, I'm so hesitant to say, yeah, I vouch for this dude, you know what I mean?
- 17:18[SPEAKER_00]: Because people change and people can on a moment leverage a reputation for their own benefit.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_00]: That's something, Matthew always says, Dad, you're too paranoid.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you're too conservative.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_00]: You're too paranoid.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_00]: Bros, I live through the real estate crash.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_00]: 2006 in a very real way and I watched 250,000 dollar properties get foreclosed on and sell it auction for 10 grand.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: I've seen some things, I think Al Pacino, instead of a woman, I've seen some things.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: I have seen some things and what people do when times get tough and do not believe for one second that we're immune from it in the card hobby.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think we're seeing it on a big scale now
- 17:59[SPEAKER_00]: with all this conversation about shield bidding and what would now with pro-steen and what would down with snipe and we are not a show that dives into the latest hobby news and acts like a bunch of middle school girls in like who did you hear what they said what do we need a fan about.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not interested in all that because I can care less.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's real, it happens.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't necessarily want to spend a bunch of time talking about it, but it is on the forefront.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_00]: And as the market starts to turn, if it turns, it will only get worse.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_04]: I've got a movie quote for you, Matt, and you complete me.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_04]: You can believe me.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_04]: And really you complete Mr. Mandel Kern here because this is maybe an over share for the show.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_04]: But me and Mr. Mandel Kern have a spreadsheet that we keep on all the cards that we own together.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_04]: How much we trust each other?
- 18:45[SPEAKER_03]: We stop tracking said spread there's no trust like us right now for several fronts.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_04]: The source several months we didn't like tracked it.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_03]: And then we call it the conversation.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_03]: Last week's conversation was a 41 and we'll keep that Friday.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_03]: But wow, we were trying to go back.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_02]: do God knows how long and figure out he's like all right so do you think I owe you money or you will be money that's how I was I was like I don't know I think I am I think you will be money I don't know which is pretty funny it is just trust like better it is hilarious because like when we were together
- 19:19[SPEAKER_00]: in Atlanta or whatever, like I literally bought a pizza for our families and kids.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_00]: But Bubba sends me like $25 on Venmo and I'm like, bro, we just split a case.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_00]: I owe you like two grand every here.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: Why are you sending me $25?
- 19:33[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to keep my money and I'm going to know where I'm giving money.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's what I don't care.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_04]: Like, if I don't get it done right then, my personality is probably not going to get done.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_04]: I'm one of those type of person.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I wish I knew that.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_03]: Probably because that's like, kind of way I operate too.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_03]: And I just was like, yeah, I like it, but now, you know, like, so we're getting satin now.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_00]: That is very good.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_00]: Well, back to the round table.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_00]: We're like halfway through the show and we're still in the intro season for for Hamhouse this week.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's a little Matt.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_00]: I said, show cards this weekend.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_00]: If you ever want to buy cards again, you know, that was kind of the thing.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_00]: I put it demand on him because he saw these Jordan's that he wanted to buy and dude, he went to hustle mode and and sold like I was in dollars and cards or something like
- 20:20[SPEAKER_00]: on these Jordan's, that's like, did your little machine.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: So we've got some really nice Michael Jordan cards coming in.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_00]: He and I have really been consolidating what we call our true PC.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_00]: These are cards we want to own.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_00]: There's a number on them if you want to come and get them.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_00]: We've gotten really lean with whatever bone and it's like a resetting.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_00]: Like I feel like right now, he and I hitting the reset button and recharging the batteries for like the next run and there's some new developments that are happening that kind of may alter like how we function and do business and stuff which is good.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I will say this like one of the things that he and I both agree on it were really good at is going to shows like we do really well in person it shows.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_00]: And right now, a little Matt's plan, high school basketball and every single show we want to go to in the spring, he's got a basketball game and so like we're looking ahead at the calendar going like it's probably March before we can get somewhere, you know, and that's tough because I think in the way we do cards, you have to stay in front of people, you have to stay in front of inventory, you've got to kind of keep moving.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_00]: And so I'm really trying to book Mark some things out in the calendar first of next year we can go to some shows that said Hamhouse my whole crew Disney world this week.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'm getting ready to unplug for about seven days I will be completely out of pocket and I'm actually looking forward to it because I haven't stopped or slowed down and not that Disney slow But I haven't stopped or slowed down in a long time and so I'm looking forward to getting away with the family.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_04]: You're gonna need a vacation from your vacation true
- 21:50[SPEAKER_04]: You're going on a trip, not a vacation.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it's a trip.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a trip.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_00]: So current batting third.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 21:57[UNKNOWN]: So.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_03]: They're, they're my or might not have been a big, super hit.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_03]: My, might have been.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_03]: So first off, I have to say, I am just so freaking happy that I don't have to rip any more of a 24-billion-drip.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_03]: So happy that that product for me is dead.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_03]: The change is over.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, the Conagrith and Super Fractor has hit VIP rips hit it.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_03]: and I would like to say that that card is on the way to New York City.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_03]: Let's freaking go, Bobo.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_00]: The honor of Griffin.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a good boy.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_03]: Bowman, farmer.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_03]: Tell me, love me.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_03]: I love you.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_03]: Tell me you love me.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_03]: I think what I don't think I've ever heard, Bobo love me that much.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_04]: I love you.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_04]: I love you.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_04]: Put my hands together.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_04]: Love.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_04]: I love you.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so obviously it's it's like I've gotten a lot of messages about this obviously thankfully I want to give a shout out to one of I guess our listeners.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_03]: I think he is or maybe just a follower I don't know buffalo collects had message me on Instagram said hey You have to be rips and I had his live.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_03]: They're sweating a super go
- 23:02[SPEAKER_03]: I went in there and I happened to see it be ripped and to be honest, like, I'd probably wouldn't have been able to make a deal for that card, unless he gave me that heads up because the way fanatics live works is unlike what not.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_03]: Like, you can't message a user if you just have their username.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_03]: Like, you have to be in the room and like, click on their name in the chat and then probably the message out.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_03]: Like, if I knew his fanatics live user name after the show, I couldn't go to compose a message to him.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_03]: So I had sent him a message right then and there,
- 23:30[SPEAKER_03]: and got super nice, and we were able to work out a deal.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_00]: So, honest question, honest question.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_00]: Did you share it here?
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: Did I share it?
- 23:40[SPEAKER_03]: I did.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_03]: I showed it to your happiness.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I mean, that was one of the best nights of my life.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_04]: Thinking of speaking of nights of his life, we are seeking sponsors, Red Bull and Nyquill.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_04]: My friend, Mr. Manlaker, never sleeps, okay?
- 23:53[SPEAKER_04]: We were texting about the countergriff and super,
- 23:56[SPEAKER_04]: And we were kind of in a waiting moment about what was going to happen and this and that I fall asleep and I wake up on that the farm my wife's not here phones like laying in the bed with me or whatever I roll over on it like 1.45 in the morning and I'm like oh no he texted me back about the conrum I got a texting back and he won't be up I text him it's the immediate response it is not like oh he woke him up it startled him he was like whatever
- 24:20[SPEAKER_04]: But he is grinding some a boy.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_04]: We will take for the show.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_04]: We are seeking energy drink sponsors.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_04]: And we are.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_04]: All sorts of things that help my friend sleep.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_04]: He needs sleep after this whole of that.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_04]: The dude is a nighthawk.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_04]: He gets it done.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_04]: But we want to sit there and want to give a shout out to Eric right now.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_04]: People want to sit there and say, Oh, Eric, just, you know, he does all this stuff online.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_04]: He gets these super fractures.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_04]: But just to just come to him and he puts this money out.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_04]: No dude works as asshole for him.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I thought they're grinding in these in these message boards getting it done.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_04]: So, and I, that's huge shout on on this one.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_04]: Because that was, uh, that was a grail car we've been talking about, current for, yeah, but over a year, uh, and that moment was really surreal that happened.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_03]: He didn't.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_04]: Glad I was able to get locked up.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_03]: I love that that text I got, it was like, I'm not going to share numbers here, but it was like, Gary goes like, he's like, are we still at, you know, this number?
- 25:21[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, dude, it's locked up last week.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_03]: It's locked up man.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's done.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_02]: Gary's so checking his text messages.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_02]: He hasn't even checked it.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, dude, it's not mad.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_02]: It's done.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_03]: That was a fun night, I just couldn't believe that that card actually hit and the first thought to came to mind was obviously like we have to get this card and then it was thank God, I don't have to buy any more for the dress now I can stop ripping so yeah, but I mean other than look other than that that's that's big news obviously like we're You know thrilled about that I haven't been doing I mean I bought a couple cards here and there, but like I don't know about the other super we got okay.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_03]: Well, it's actually right here.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_04]: Let's show it.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_03]: It's a close second was talking about, I mentioned on last week's episode that I was doing a deal in Japan and, you know, thankful that the eye trusted me enough to send the card without being paid.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_03]: So here it is.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_03]: It's a vital contrarle.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_03]: Super auto.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_03]: 910.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's pretty.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_04]: So we got the other one though, too.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_04]: Well, the other one, what's the other 2025?
- 26:24[SPEAKER_04]: What are my favorites?
- 26:26[SPEAKER_04]: My probably my favorite player, the whole the whole deal.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_04]: I'm bullish on them.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_04]: You were bullish on before me.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_04]: I was bullish on Connor for you.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_04]: You were bullish on this guy well before me.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_04]: It's not a Bowman first because he doesn't have one or technically he only has like 10 cards.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_03]: Sorry, you know, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 27:06[SPEAKER_00]: So I was going to propose that if Hamhouse gives you guys like $10, can we buy in at like $11,000 of a fractional owner of like, kind of own the bottom corner of one of these super $1,000.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_00]: $1,000.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_00]: Just one of them.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_00]: Just a fine.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to, like, counter.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I'm going to have to give you like a $500,000 value line.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, there we go.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'll just buy in the, like, the fraction of the corner.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_00]: Just that's what I want.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_03]: No friendly deals here.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_00]: Um, well, congrats boys.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's a big deal.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of massive pickups.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I know that, you know, part of what we talk about as a strategy is you guys have a specific strategy of kind of going after these elusive exclusive very, very hard to come by and to your point here.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, going I was going to say it takes a lot of work and this is the fruit of the labor.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_00]: is like working really, really hard.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_00]: And not to mention of the amount of wax that you've opened, not to mention all the different things.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_00]: And so, you know, it feels like a good moment to celebrate.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it was a very successful speaking of work.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's like, Gary, once again, I'm just, I'm carrying you, man.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_03]: But I don't let him do it.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_04]: I'm gonna let you do it this episode.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_04]: You get the glow.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_03]: I'm still carrying you.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_04]: I'm letting you glow it on this one because you deserve it on this one.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm gonna let you glow it.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_04]: But all I can say is when you become buddies, best buddies with your biggest competitor, things just get easier.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_04]: They just get better.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_03]: Gary and I were biggest, like, we were our biggest competition when trying to acquire cards.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_03]: And so, you know, I'm glad we formed this friendship because it makes things a lot easier, you know?
- 28:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_00]: But to your point, I feel like, this is going to be, do you remember the movie?
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty sure it's the movie below with Johnny Depp.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_00]: Remember when he has the fallen out on this partner, he's like, on the island, and it's like, Josh.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking like I really, really, really hope that you guys maintain this level of friendship because I'm going to go into hiding being the one in the middle of you guys.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, I don't know, I'm talking to George.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_02]: George, that's good.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_02]: Diego.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no, but I'm glad you did bring up that like that hard work thing, right?
- 29:18[SPEAKER_03]: Because like there's people in the hobby in specifically the moment world that like grind, right?
- 29:23[SPEAKER_03]: Like and there's probably a lot of people that like look at myself or look at Gary and and you and like they're like, oh, you could just do like throw money at something, right?
- 29:33[SPEAKER_03]: Like I would have that collection if I had your money, right?
- 29:37[SPEAKER_03]: Know you would it.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_03]: I guarantee you wouldn't you spend it in a wrong ways.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_03]: You wouldn't be able to get the card because it's sold already you would overpay and lose money like it's not easy it's not as easy as you think yes it's great to have the financial flexibility to be able to have those conversations that you still have to work for it.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm not even talking on just a super scale.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_03]: Like a smaller scale, too, if you want to acquire like drones and blues and, in fact, like you can't just like throw money at shit and expect to make money.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_03]: Like you have to buy the right players.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_03]: You have to buy the right time.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_03]: You have to sell it at the right time.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_03]: You have to, you know, you have to know when to create, when to not create.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_03]: If they know what to sell versus when to hold, like it's not as easy as you think.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just buying, buying, buying.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_03]: That's it.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_03]: Get yourself to trouble.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_04]: Well, on that note, I think that's with the road to 100,000, which I know a lot of y'all were excited about, which is not dead by the way, which will be coming back season two.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_03]: Just on hold for now, that's all.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_04]: The reason it was on hold is because what you just said, it's not easy number one, and you're not gonna go out at the wrong time of the year and go by-cards.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_04]: No, if you're buying cards in September or not, October, and then it's the hardest time a year to flip baseball.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_04]: It is incredibly hard to buy them in flip.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_04]: Almost everything I am buying right now, I'm buying with six months ahead, at least four or five six months ahead.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_04]: I'm thinking about February, March, that time frame April.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_04]: I'm thinking about guys that, you know, maybe in June, July, August of next year, we're sitting there talking about, oh, man, they had a bad finish to the year or oh, they had it down year.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_04]: Those are the type of purchases where you make your money.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_04]: I have never been really good.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Ham's probably from all of us on the show.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_04]: They're probably the best at quicker flips, because they're able to kind of read that pulse, and it can be done.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_04]: But it is really hard in this current market.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_04]: Like, Ham, you and I talked about this yesterday, I think.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_04]: Like, this market reminds me, and we can go right into this topic, if you all want.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_04]: But I was talking to my stock, I earlier today.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_04]: It is a replication of the stock market.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_04]: What we're seeing in cards.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_04]: If something is booming,
- 31:44[SPEAKER_04]: It is booming like Google sock today, I don't know if you'll saw what Google's doing.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_04]: Google the news came out today that they've got a chip that's going to rival in the video, right?
- 31:52[SPEAKER_04]: In the video has been the booming stock forever with chips for AI, right?
- 31:57[SPEAKER_04]: Well, all the sudden they say that Google now has something that's going to rival in the video.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_04]: What happened in the video stock today?
- 32:03[SPEAKER_04]: Google flew in the video went down right and that's the way it happens better had a really they came up started saying that meta was going to have we're going to have an AI bubble I'm sure you all been hearing about that what happened to the meta stop wait crashes everything AI's crashing everything Nasdaq's crashing will now let's like oh the bubble's not going to happen here it goes will sports cars are the same way right now
- 32:25[SPEAKER_04]: Like, a bad news comes your way on a player.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_04]: He's not playing well.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_04]: He is going to get smack.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_04]: And like, little Matt last night sent me and I love this player.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not picking on this player, but I'm just going to use this person's name.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_04]: He sent me a card last night said, are you interested?
- 32:42[SPEAKER_04]: It was a Nick Kurtz orange.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_04]: PSA 10, beautiful car, love net curves.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_04]: They use a great player.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_04]: But when the PSA 10 orange is selling for almost $25,000, that scares me.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_04]: Gary, you want to sold me what are those?
- 32:55[SPEAKER_03]: What did you sell me that for?
- 32:56[SPEAKER_03]: I think I can sell you shit on that one.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think you did.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_04]: They could did, thanks for reminding me.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's like a 3500 dollar sell to me.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that was during your front.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_02]: Two weeks later, the card was worth $15,000.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, he calls me, I was like, I hate you.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that was not my best, best move, friendly move there, all for all.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_04]: But I mean, you know, I mean, that to me, though, where we're at in this market, I think as far as we're looking ahead, I think there's tremendous opportunities, but I do think the greed, when you think of greed, I think buying Nick Kirk's right now, his current price is as greed.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_04]: In my opinion, because you're trying to go back to a well, and if that guy maybe he comes back out and does what he did last year,
- 33:38[SPEAKER_04]: But what are the chances?
- 33:40[SPEAKER_04]: What are the chances actually that he probably doesn't perform quite as well?
- 33:44[SPEAKER_04]: Or in people's eyes, go, he's just doing it into Gannies, a first basement, and he's cut in half because he even played well.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_04]: To me, those are the type of plays when we're looking at right now this market in the back of my mind, how I'm going to operate different in 26.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_04]: I'm being very tactical, and I'm looking at guys that I'm like, I won't can't lose the situations right now.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_04]: I'm looking at can't lose guys because they're values either depressed, or I feel like the prospect in that market is going to be can't lose because where the market's going to be at in February or March.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_04]: So I want to get y'all thoughts on how the how the y'all feel like, where this industry at the hobby is right now, but the correlation to stock market overall economy to me is a lot closer than people think.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_04]: Just want to get y'all thoughts on that.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_04]: Go to it.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think at the core, you have to recognize that most people are driven emotionally and most people are driven by a desire for self-preservation or self-growth, right?
- 34:43[SPEAKER_00]: So when you recognize that people are being driven by emotion and a desire to better themselves, then you have to find a way.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_00]: to capitalize on that in a capital environment to say I'm going to feed your desire to need to make money or I'm going to feed your desire to get the emotion of needing to have something okay and so when you see people getting attached an emotional need to be attached to having an asset or needing to better themselves,
- 35:16[SPEAKER_00]: And it wins for you like that's when that's when I'm out, you know, and so I have a harder time at buying guys, you know, with a true conviction about their success as a major league baseball player, I'm actually just going to know how can I enter into the emotion and the hype of the moment and capitalize on somebody else's need to have something and what's really I've told you guys this multiple times this was
- 35:43[SPEAKER_00]: I learned all of this through the secondary bourbon market, right?
- 35:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like, people want the papy van winkle, people want the buffalo trace antiques.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_00]: And so if you found a way to acquire and liquidate, to fulfill this other guy's need to have this bottle on his shelf,
- 36:03[SPEAKER_00]: that's always where I kind of played my game.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like I play the same game with Bowman.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, all right, this guy wants that, or this person wants that, or this is the latest type guy, I have a liquidation market over here.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_00]: If I can find an acquisition market and get rewarded for having the acquisition and the liquidation, now all I'm doing is facilitating an emotional purchase for somebody.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_00]: Does that make sense?
- 36:29[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_00]: That's how I do it.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_00]: That's how I've encouraged little Matt to do it.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_00]: There's very little attachment to a player or conviction about a player.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_00]: Now, Connor Griffin, for example, back in the day when you boys were acquiring Connor Griffin, you know, it's no secret that I was telling little Matt, hey, these guys are after Connor.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_00]: Go see what you can find and there's a channel for you, right?
- 36:50[SPEAKER_00]: Well, now you guys are stocked up on Connor Griffin.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think we probably sold you a couple, but we're kind of going like, dang, we kind of missed out on Connor Griffin.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_00]: because we've made enough on Connor Griffin.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_00]: So now we're sitting on the blue because we actually do have conviction in him.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's kind of how we've, in my opinion, been able to be successful is just playing that kind of game in the short term rather than you guys that have had the conviction in the long term and have been willing to put more capital down and capitalized on bigger wins because of that.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_00]: Does that make sense?
- 37:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_03]: So that's the thing.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_03]: I was going to say, like, you guys have owned several kind of griffets, not just this one in blue, right?
- 37:30[SPEAKER_03]: And so like, but your strategy is really kind of, you know, capitalize on a heart and heart market, make your money and move on and not have too much capital tied up.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_03]: But,
- 37:39[SPEAKER_03]: on the contrary to, you know, Gary, it's, it's, I'm buying for the long term because I, like we, we don't mind having that capital tied up and, you know, it's, it's for looking for the bigger game, you know, but like had you held onto those, you'd have a bigger game, but you'd also have less capital, but like, Gary, to where you were saying, kind of comparing it to the stock market, it kind of like, you know, you know, you know, you know, you're
- 38:01[SPEAKER_03]: think of along the same wavelength as that, where it's kind of like it's kind of like this up and down and stagnant situation, but I go by the player, not necessarily the card market, like this specific player, where is he on this graph, right?
- 38:18[SPEAKER_03]: And that's kind of like how I determine whether it's a good buy and not like somebody like risk nicurt's right like that orange obviously I'm not buying that card at $25,000 right now right thousand dollars right now, but when somebody's market's hot right now, that's the opportunity when I see to kind of look for the quick flick right like search.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_03]: like search all the places that I can possibly search and I think little Matt does is really well of finding that hot market using his resources and his network to find that good deal and capitalize on that really hot market and making that quick flip.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_03]: That's where you kind of, like, in my opinion, what little Matt is doing, like, the best way to succeed, you know, how hard he's not buying at the top for the long term.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_03]: It's buying at, it's finding that recognizing that hot market.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_03]: And what I just said, and buying at a good price to move it quickly and and get some, you know, additional capital 100%.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_00]: And I think, you know, when everybody's talking about something, right, you have to pay attention to that.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like when everybody's talking about something, you have to capitalize on that moment right then.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_03]: Now we wait for the hype is called the hype period, right?
- 39:27[SPEAKER_00]: And then once that hype window is kind of gone, like you have to understand, alright.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_00]: that hype windows kind of past you know who's the next latest and greatest think about this dude think about Jacob Wilson early in the season ever saying rookie the year rookie the year and then it ended up being in it hurts you know and I mean think about I mean you know again I know you're into him a lot current but churrio you know think about churrio's hype when his stuff peaked you know and then you look at caminera who still in a way hasn't you think about holiday you know I was looking through a
- 40:03[SPEAKER_00]: and I remember 22 drafts.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_00]: Dude, I sold a tomorrow Johnson Black 10 10.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_00]: One of the most beautiful cards that we have ever owned.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_00]: It was so crisp.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_00]: Look so great.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_00]: So if $1,500 we got.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you're still on that super.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_04]: That's what I was saying.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_04]: That's what's beautiful about Bowman is that that's what I love about Bowman now.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_04]: That's a really learning several seasons later now that now you get these waves.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_04]: And I've talked about it several times.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_04]: You can buy tomorrow Johnson at the beginning, sell tomorrow Johnson, get back in, buy him again.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_04]: And I think tomorrow Johnson is going to have another wave.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_04]: I was reading the other day.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_04]: They still think tomorrow Johnson is going to be a second baseman probably lined up
- 40:47[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, and in a probably a very good lineup, and so that's what I love about Bowman, but I wanted to share one more thought on the whole stock market thing before we moved into another topic.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I want to see if I'm going to take that for me.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_03]: Go on.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_04]: So, we are almost, if you see here and you think about it, we're three guys talking about the show.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_04]: We're almost like stockbrokers of our hard business.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_04]: You think about it?
- 41:08[SPEAKER_04]: We are navigating a daily market of other than flows of different stocks and names, but I think the number one thing, if I was doing a reflection episode, we should do a reflection episode, by the way, into the year, what we did well, what we didn't.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_04]: One of the things that I think has changed the most in me, the show has, is that every week I have to reflect about my own collecting and my own ideas.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_04]: The most dangerous place in the car space is when you start just like a stockbroker starts thinking that all his ideas never go wrong.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_04]: When you start understanding that the likelihood of them going wrong is actually higher than you think, then you start operating differently.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_03]: The more likely they're wrong than they are to go right.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_04]: When you start buying that way and selling that way and operating that way in reverse, when I first got in everything I bought, everything I thought I was buying was going to the freaking moon.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just going to hold it.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_04]: It's going to go to the moon.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_04]: Don't worry about it.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_04]: Kind of the show Hayatani approach, right?
- 42:04[SPEAKER_04]: That's why I've never bought him because they just keep going up up up up.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_04]: Well, that's how I thought when I first got in everything went, right?
- 42:11[SPEAKER_04]: In a reality in Bowman, it most likely doesn't.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_04]: So you've got to find that entry.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_04]: You've got to have that conviction.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_04]: And so my biggest piece of advice out of the days episode would be take your own idea and try to test it two or three four different ways and say, how could this go wrong?
- 42:28[SPEAKER_04]: what it when is the entry point.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_04]: I feel like I do that now in my process better than I ever have.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_04]: You sound like me.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_00]: You sound like me.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like that's literally how I think I literally think what's the worst case scenario with this and then I move.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_00]: And that's weird because, you know, like, it makes me feel like I am constantly looking at the negative side.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_00]: But when I know what my negative downside risk is, I can capitalize on whatever smaller upside.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's when you get this fear of missing out, you know, this phomo, and you start thinking that, well, it can't go wrong.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I've lived that season of my life in real estate and got hammered.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_00]: So that's funny that you said that, Kurn, you had a thought to it.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I mean, it's kind of separate from that, but it was I'm just going to say, you know, the
- 43:19[SPEAKER_03]: December hot stove trades all that kind of stuff is coming up and you know, something we don't talk about very often, you know, trades really as a, as a Bowman guy and prospect guy, like, they scared the hell out of me, you know, like, yeah, I've gotten burned by a couple of guys that have been traded.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_03]: And like they really, we don't talk about it enough and it's not thought about enough.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_03]: And it's like you shouldn't put too much thought into it when buying, right?
- 43:48[SPEAKER_03]: move value.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_03]: Dylan head for example, you know, he's marked it was never skyrocket high, right?
- 43:54[SPEAKER_03]: He was always good value, but he was a first round pick for the potteries and a good system.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_03]: Once he was trade to the marlins, game over, he's hard to work nothing.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_04]: Do look at, look at Leo.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_04]: Look at Leo.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Leo, all of a sudden gets traded and his market in Leo to me.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_04]: is like, I was looking at my list the other day.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_04]: Leo is 100% going to be a buy again.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_04]: And I don't know if it's right now.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if it's in the spring or the summer.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_04]: Leo is the real deal.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_04]: But his value and he got traded to the A's.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, Oh, A's never have it.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_04]: You can't have prospects bullshit.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_04]: Look at Nick Kers.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_04]: Look at Jacob Wilson last.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_03]: I don't buy that anymore with the
- 44:34[SPEAKER_04]: No, I don't why with any team if a guy is a baller Connor Griffin if you're a baller I don't care if you play for the pirates like if you play for Charlie common for the Rockies If Charlie condon balls out his prices will go up like Nick Kerchus.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but if you're looking for those marginal wins with mid tier guys Like I'm dealing head.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_03]: I was just giving an example about like kind of scares you You know because you really got to stand out
- 44:58[SPEAKER_03]: above the rest of the pack.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_03]: And he doesn't.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_03]: And so he just, he gets kind of gets lost in that outlet system and it's not a great system.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_03]: Since one example, but it's just something to keep an eye on.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_03]: It's always interesting.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_03]: You know, that the, the trades go down.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_03]: It's like I used to pay attention to who's the big setter piece of from a major league standpoint.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_03]: Now it's like, okay, what prospects are they giving back?
- 45:20[SPEAKER_03]: You know, like you see Jeff pass in like four prospects coming back.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, okay.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, he's going back.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_03]: That's the most support part to me right now.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think I think that the moment we're in here speaking of
- 45:31[SPEAKER_00]: Speaking of a guy, you know, the hamhouse that we actually can own some one of one to two.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_00]: Do you know that?
- 45:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really not super, not super, but look what we found this weekend.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_04]: What is that?
- 45:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's an Xavier Isaac Papa.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_04]: Y'all love Xavier Isaac.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_00]: Well, don't necessarily love Xavier Isaac, but this card walked up at a show.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a one of one prospect card.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_00]: Isaac is a guy, right?
- 45:59[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_00]: He's still in Tampa Bay.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_00]: He's in AA.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_00]: There's some swing issues or whatever do y'all There's some spring issues.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_00]: Do you do you you feel like it's done for Xavier odds?
- 46:07[SPEAKER_00]: Or do you feel like there's another window?
- 46:08[SPEAKER_03]: No, there's a window he did and he's that's fine.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean we I think he's dominant Smith 2.0.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_03]: I never told him
- 46:15[SPEAKER_00]: So I think like, you know, it's interesting when you see everything that you guys have been talking about.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_00]: You think about windows and capitalization and ends and outs.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_00]: We're in a very interesting moment right now because you've got top series two coming out.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_00]: You've got draft coming out in January.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_00]: There is the sleeper window.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and then draft in January.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_00]: You've got this window right now over the next 60 days where there's going to be a lot of eyes on, you know, the new stuff, the conners, the McGonicles, you know, the mean, and then I think I think what's interesting about us is it's like, okay, who's not necessarily on the top of the radar that all the sudden come March April, boom, you know, the mean.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_04]: here they are now opportunity to preview next week's episode right that's that's all we're going to be talking about next week those guys the list that star's going who are the bi-lose who are the targets who are the guys that we should be looking at the people you got one week to buy yeah one week to buy right now Hamilton you'll list today you're starting to
- 47:14[SPEAKER_00]: One week we might want to delay like can we delay that episode until after Disney because I'm going to be in Disney like I'm not going to be in Disney like making card deals I'm living up to see seeing a Disney.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't buy Disney cards.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_03]: Oh gosh.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_00]: I know they're kind of cute ladies and gentlemen listeners of the sports cards CEO.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_00]: Please send by also a few breaks here in there.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_00]: to 34th Street Avenue in Manhattan to was here.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_04]: Same guy that was talking to shit of it to me about buying cabooms and downtowns.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_04]: And now you're buying freaking Daffy fucking duck.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_04]: Come on dude.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_04]: What the hell?
- 47:46[SPEAKER_02]: Just wait till you hear what that I am getting
- 47:49[SPEAKER_02]: Bunch Bob.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_04]: If he comes with an auto to Daffy ducks, some random dudes, auto graphing dot.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_04]: Daffy dot.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_04]: It's authentic though.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_04]: You know how I feel that.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_00]: He's done it in a sketch card.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_00]: You know how like every single vice like spirals into like the possible worst.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 48:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's like you know that your vice has gotten back in your bunch of buff cards based off slow ladies and dude.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_00]: That is so, so good.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_00]: Well, boys, we are, uh, we're kind of up in our time window here.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know there's any of them.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_04]: One more, one more topic we got to talk about.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_04]: It's, if we don't talk about it, I won't, we, we need to be smacked.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_04]: You sent it out this last week, Cam, about Beckett, and you said, is this for real?
- 48:28[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_04]: what's going on with trading.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_04]: So what Beckett did and then PSA right after came out and made their own post about timing, what a joke.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_04]: What a joke.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_04]: This whole, you're, you're taking a piece of wax or paper.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_04]: or whatever the material is, and you're putting it in a little encasement, and the guy's looking at it for a total of, let's be honest, 10 to 15 seconds, and he's giving it a grade.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_04]: And you're gonna say, in Beckett's case, that you're not gonna get grades back till March, you realize that they're telling people that it's gonna be March for orders that we're sending in October.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_04]: got March.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_04]: Then you got PSA coming out and capitalizing on it.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_04]: It just basically saying, well, yeah, we're going to delay ours, too, because they can because they can.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_04]: PSA, you are the company of because you can.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_04]: And I can't wait till somebody else can.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_00]: I can't stand PSA.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_00]: There we go.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_00]: Ladies and gentlemen, now we know how bubbly as we're being.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, PSA, literally that's all they do.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_04]: They literally
- 49:33[SPEAKER_04]: eat out as much as they can and I get it, you're in business, but it doesn't pay off long term for customers won't forget this stuff.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_04]: When you treat people this way, you take more and more of their money and then now you want to push them slower and slower.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_04]: I just don't think it's going to pay off for PSA in the long run.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, someone's going to come along.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_03]: At the end of the day, as we say at the end of the day, they're going to do it as long as long as they can get away with it.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_03]: And there's no other real option out there.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_03]: I'll turn into the press right alternative option.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_03]: Like, they're going to do it.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_03]: And they're going to it.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to keep it worse.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_04]: The grading company is going to be started in my basement really soon.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_04]: Taking investors and where we will care about our customers.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_04]: we will actually turn this stuff around and we actually will actually care about you folks.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_04]: So hey, if you want a new grading company, let us know because I'm tired of this.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_04]: All right, let's get some collectors together and let's take down PSA.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_03]: I've been saying this for a long time.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_03]: No, I think the only period I legitimately think the only company that could if they wanted to rival PSA, I think Michael Rubin and Fanatics.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_03]: can do something.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_03]: That's the only company that can do something if they really want it to and have an influence in a marketplace where people can potentially start to see PSA values not dropping, but like see it on an eye to eye on a level basis with another cover.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_03]: I just think that it needs to be somebody likes an addicts that does that and it will happen.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_04]: If somebody had purchased Beckett, let's say the three of us purchased Beckett,
- 51:09[SPEAKER_04]: We bought it.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_04]: We wouldn't put our money together.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_04]: We brought it together.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_04]: We bought it.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_04]: Could Beckett be fixed and fixed fairly quickly in the Elizabethan?
- 51:17[SPEAKER_00]: Well, the question is, what would allow it to be fixed?
- 51:20[SPEAKER_00]: That's the big question.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_00]: Because in the eye of the beholder, a Beckett 95 is in no comparison to even like a PSA 9 right now, you know what I mean?
- 51:30[SPEAKER_00]: And so,
- 51:31[SPEAKER_04]: What stops, what stops Beckett from saying, hey, we're still going to have a perstein 10, but now we're going to have what's equivalent to a PSA 10 that's coming out.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_04]: It's just called a gym meant or whatever they want to call it, 10, you know, we got our own gym meant 10 that came out or perfect 10 or whatever they want to call it.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_04]: What's stopping them from doing that and saying we have two different levels of, we've got a black label.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_04]: We've got a perstein and we've got this.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_04]: They've already got the other two and come out and give people the value for that
- 52:00[SPEAKER_04]: the reality is, and you do this, Matt Ham, and you do this Eric Mandelkern, that if you guys have a PSA 9 that you think you can get a 9-5, you're going to do it every single day of the week, because you're going to get more money, right?
- 52:12[SPEAKER_04]: So if all the Sun Beckett can give you a 10, but the issue with Beckett, yes, I think the 10 might be, obviously a huge business fall for them, that they don't give out 10 to the level that PSA does, but the bigger issue is that they don't
- 52:28[SPEAKER_04]: their service level and the way it's they cared about their customers.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_04]: It's the interaction with their customers.
- 52:34[SPEAKER_04]: They were Johnny on the spot with customer service.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_04]: They were they went over the top on why they were giving grades out.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_04]: They were communicating.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_04]: They would take the market share.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_04]: I guarantee you we buy back it.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_04]: We could fix back it.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_04]: I guarantee you we could fix it.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_04]: I want the opportunity.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_04]: Back it.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_04]: I want to buy your
- 52:58[SPEAKER_04]: I want to buy your company, I will help you fix this shit storm you've created because you guys add the customers.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_04]: They had the loyalty to back it.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_04]: You were the company.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_04]: You forgot your customers.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_04]: You haven't grown with your company.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_04]: You're like a dinosaur.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_03]: And now we ready to fix it.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_03]: If you're 100% right on that one spark, I have a question for you.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_03]: If you were to buy
- 53:28[SPEAKER_04]: You, come over here, get your shoe shine box as I bitch.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, something needs to change though.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_03]: When I'd rather, when I'd rather have, call me crazy, right?
- 53:40[SPEAKER_03]: I have a runnels who knew red in a BGS 1010 slip.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_03]: I would rather have it in a PSA 1010.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_03]: People think I'm crazy.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_03]: You could call me crazy.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_03]: All you want?
- 53:49[SPEAKER_03]: I'd say what though, I'd rather have it in the PSA 1010.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_00]: You can send the PSA and they'll take your $5,000 to tell you that they won't cross it.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's so crazy.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_04]: That's what's crazy.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_04]: And I don't disagree with that, but I don't, I also think current that it doesn't take very long for people to want to start using Beckett against a level.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_04]: Beckett is just falling out of favor.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_04]: Bottom line, it doesn't take that long if it fanatics out of an offering or even Beckett out of an offering again.
- 54:18[SPEAKER_04]: and there was it goes what you're talking about early.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_04]: The whole theme of this episode should be what you talked about earlier, Ham.
- 54:24[SPEAKER_04]: It's perception.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_04]: It is this.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_04]: It's hot and cold.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_04]: Back it was hot.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_04]: Then PSA was hot.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_04]: PSA can get cold really fast.
- 54:33[SPEAKER_04]: And so they better take every little dollar that they get and they better be soaking it away because somebody's coming for you.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_04]: And if you're not changing in business and I know this is the same in my business and you guys are the same in yours.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_04]: Matt Ham and insurance, if you're not taking care of your customers, yeah, somebody else will absolutely absolutely.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, I think and again, we don't have time to get into the deal today, but when you look at grading as a whole in the industry, like it is so subjective, it is so unreliable, it is so inconsistent.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_00]: And it punches the standard collector like in the face when they have to go through the rigger morale of like getting cards and off and getting them back and just just all the stuff.
- 55:14[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like it's completely catering to the higher value folks who want stuff quickly, who can pay the extra dollars to get it quickly.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_00]: and it's fostering that kind of environment so that your average everyday collector on cards.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like I had a guy come up to me to show the other day.
- 55:32[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, hey, do you think I should grade this card?
- 55:35[SPEAKER_00]: It was like a $50 card.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_00]: I had no.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_00]: He said, why?
- 55:38[SPEAKER_00]: I said, you're gonna pay $30 for them to send it back to you in six months with almost a 0% guaranteed that it's gonna get a 10.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 55:46[SPEAKER_00]: Like, why would you ever deal in that?
- 55:49[SPEAKER_00]: And so the market is getting catered to a certain type of clientele, a certain type of card.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_00]: But when you start burning people on two, three, four thousand dollar cards and they get tired of dealing with it, this is what you get.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_00]: You get customers who are dissatisfied with their experience with what they're getting back and it only takes a matter of time before that changes.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_04]: To me, last thought on this and all that and all that's the last thing I got really for today on this topic, but getting a 10 or getting a great back in general to me should be one of the most fun things in the hobby is there's to me a grading reveal when you're in you get that box and you open that card back or you open that email.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know about you, Kern, but it's one of my favorite things when I get it back.
- 56:34[SPEAKER_04]: It might be my kids, my little kids, when they get it back, they're so excited to get it.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_04]: This is not that you have something as a grading company that people are excited about.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_04]: All they want is for you to deliver, deliver it in the most efficient way and take care of them as the customer and when you go and you get BGS busured every single time and you open that box for no reason when no communication with the back kids doing and then you take months on months to get product back you are sucking the wind and the joy out of that piece.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_04]: PSA hate I hate getting taken advantage of and that's where I hate PSA they're taking advantage of their customers and everybody knows it and so my point my final thought of that is let's get the joy back into grading we need a grading company I'm going to start a company called joy grading because it should be a joy it should be it's fine it's both to be fine to great things giving everybody
- 57:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, at the point of giving, be Thanksgiving from the sports cards.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, of course.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_00]: Gary, Gary, take up, take a moment after we finish today's episode and go jump in the lake behind you and cool off a little bit.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's swim around and just enjoy your stuff.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_04]: Writing is the one thing that gets me man, grading it really gets me riled up, y'all can't tell.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_00]: I just, it's, it's criminal.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 57:57[SPEAKER_00]: Well, gentlemen, it was good.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_00]: It was a good show today.
