- 0:01Speaker 1: This is that Ben and Nashley I almost famous podcast
- 0:05Speaker 1: Bachelor Countdown. Hey, we're continuing our time counting down to
- 0:10Speaker 1: Grant season of The Bachelor, which is airing January twenty seventh,
- 0:14Speaker 1: and today, well like most weeks leading up to this season,
- 0:18Speaker 1: we have a past Bachelor, Zach.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Welcome to the show.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Hi, Hello, Hello Zach.
- 0:27Speaker 4: If you don't remember which, of course you do. Season
- 0:30Speaker 4: twenty seven premiere January twenty jurd twenty third, twenty twenty three.
- 0:35Speaker 4: It's been two years, Zach, and I see behind you
- 0:39Speaker 4: that you still have in your office a little a
- 0:42Speaker 4: little rose. And look at this, Look at this. This
- 0:45Speaker 4: is hilarious. Look what I have right next to me
- 0:48Speaker 4: the same rose. Oho, we both have Beauty and the
- 0:53Speaker 4: Beast roses in little glass capsules.
- 0:58Speaker 5: So I gotta admit this is not the same rose.
- 1:01Speaker 5: Someone did send us this, and I think it's awesome.
- 1:06Speaker 5: I think it's a cool little reminder. Keep it in
- 1:07Speaker 5: the office. Why not a little bit of you know,
- 1:11Speaker 5: great memories, but also some trauma stored in this row?
- 1:13Speaker 4: So so to you. Even though that's not the rose,
- 1:17Speaker 4: Is that a symbol of all the roses given out
- 1:21Speaker 4: during your time or is that the final rose that
- 1:23Speaker 4: you gave to Katie?
- 1:24Speaker 3: That's the final rose for Katie of course. Of course.
- 1:29Speaker 4: How has your past two years been? I mean, you
- 1:31Speaker 4: guys have really, from the outside seemed to be one
- 1:37Speaker 4: of the couples that we're going to have as you know,
- 1:41Speaker 4: for real, for real.
- 1:43Speaker 5: Yeah, no, the past two years have been unbelievable. So
- 1:48Speaker 5: Kate and I, I mean, right after the show, pretty
- 1:50Speaker 5: much we went back to what we knew and what
- 1:53Speaker 5: we loved and focused on each other and we've just
- 1:58Speaker 5: been trucking along, moved in together, got our first puppy
- 2:02Speaker 5: about five months ago, and we're just living puppy parent
- 2:07Speaker 5: lives and you know, planning our future. So it's it's
- 2:11Speaker 5: been a crazy fast period, but we love it.
- 2:15Speaker 3: It's been awesome.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Well, it helped that you guys were both living in
- 2:19Speaker 4: Texas and both in Austin, right.
- 2:21Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, we actually turns out we were a few
- 2:25Speaker 5: miles away from each other. She had been here for
- 2:29Speaker 5: you know, less than a couple of months, but it
- 2:33Speaker 5: is just it is perfect that she happened to be
- 2:36Speaker 5: out here, and then within three months after the show,
- 2:38Speaker 5: we're like, hey, let's just move in already like, what
- 2:41Speaker 5: are we waiting for?
- 2:42Speaker 4: So you and Katie had a venue picked and you
- 2:47Speaker 4: did you have a date picked at this video? Yeah,
- 2:49Speaker 4: you just didn't. You didn't sign the contract, but you
- 2:52Speaker 4: had it all planned and then you decided not to
- 2:56Speaker 4: go through with it.
- 2:57Speaker 2: That's drama.
- 2:58Speaker 3: That's drama for us.
- 3:00Speaker 5: That makes it sound very dramatic. It is the complete opposite. So,
- 3:04Speaker 5: so we had been planning or talking about wanting to,
- 3:09Speaker 5: you know, plan our wedding, figure out a date, figure
- 3:12Speaker 5: out a venue, what do we like, what we don't like?
- 3:15Speaker 5: And so one of our good friends, she happens to
- 3:18Speaker 5: be a event planner slash wedding planner, and we're like,
- 3:21Speaker 5: you know what, let's just meet with her. Let's let's
- 3:23Speaker 5: talk her through what we're looking for, some rough guidelines
- 3:27Speaker 5: of you know, what we expect and what we'd like
- 3:30Speaker 5: to have, and you know, credit to our wedding planner.
- 3:33Speaker 5: She she took she took it and started to run
- 3:36Speaker 5: with it and started just booking us at all these places.
- 3:38Speaker 3: And we're like, oh, wow, this is happening really.
- 3:40Speaker 2: To go see to go.
- 3:42Speaker 5: To go see exactly exactly, and we had, you know,
- 3:47Speaker 5: explicitly shared with her. Hey, this is, this is our
- 3:50Speaker 5: budget for the wedding. Like what we want to focus on.
- 3:52Speaker 5: Priority number one is getting our house together or getting
- 3:55Speaker 5: a house, and then second is like a wedding is awesome,
- 3:59Speaker 5: but we'll see like if it could fit into what makes.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Sense for us.
- 4:04Speaker 5: And long story short, our lovely planner is like, hey,
- 4:10Speaker 5: what with what you guys want to do, it's not
- 4:12Speaker 5: going to be possible. And with this venue that you
- 4:16Speaker 5: guys do really like, just know you're going to go
- 4:20Speaker 5: a lot over your budget. And so Kate and I
- 4:23Speaker 5: just like we pondered on it for a week and
- 4:25Speaker 5: we're like, does not feel good to just go so
- 4:29Speaker 5: into this venue? Would we've already established what our priorities are,
- 4:32Speaker 5: which is buying a house and not you know, a
- 4:36Speaker 5: down payment for one day, you know, So we we
- 4:42Speaker 5: backed out of the contract, not saying we're done with
- 4:46Speaker 5: wedding planning. We've actually gone further in other areas, but
- 4:50Speaker 5: we're just we couldn't do that. I don't know, like
- 4:53Speaker 5: it's so crazy nowadays.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Yeah, Okay, So basically that was an in touch headline.
- 4:59Speaker 4: Now you guys can see what goes behind the scenes
- 5:02Speaker 4: of an in touch headline.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I mean, Zach, very easy question, I think before we
- 5:10Speaker 1: kind of dive into some other topics. Would you marry
- 5:12Speaker 1: Katie tomorrow if if was an option.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Yes, yes, so we are.
- 5:20Speaker 5: I don't know if like kids wants me to talk
- 5:22Speaker 5: about this, but we're planning to get a looped very soon,
- 5:28Speaker 5: so like very soon, and then we'll figure out like
- 5:30Speaker 5: celebration and all that, like the glits and the glamour.
- 5:33Speaker 5: But yes, oh we're it's not a matter of like
- 5:37Speaker 5: when it's it's like the other stuff and like wanting
- 5:41Speaker 5: to have all the family from all over come for it.
- 5:43Speaker 1: So which enters me down this kind of path that
- 5:48Speaker 1: I'm super curious about with you and tell and tell
- 5:53Speaker 1: me when I'm wrong. You were the Bachelor, you went
- 5:58Speaker 1: through the whole season. It kind of felt like, as
- 6:02Speaker 1: I was watching your time on the show, this never
- 6:06Speaker 1: felt right to you. It almost felt like somebody had
- 6:08Speaker 1: forced you to become the Bachelor, Like it was never
- 6:10Speaker 1: like a comfortable, Oh I love this whole experience kind
- 6:13Speaker 1: of thing. And then we get off the show and
- 6:15Speaker 1: kind of the truth or how we see who this
- 6:18Speaker 1: person actually is is what they do after the show,
- 6:21Speaker 1: And you very immediately went further away from the spotlight.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Like you didn't try to do any of it. You
- 6:28Speaker 1: didn't hardly want to do a media circuit. You just
- 6:31Speaker 1: were happy in your relationship and that you found love
- 6:33Speaker 1: on the show. And so my question for you is,
- 6:38Speaker 1: how did they convince you to take this role as
- 6:41Speaker 1: the lead? And how do you view the whole thing now? Look,
- 6:47Speaker 1: I mean, you're not that far far removed, but it feels,
- 6:50Speaker 1: I guess from a public's perception, that you're very far
- 6:53Speaker 1: removed from this whole experience.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:56Speaker 5: No, So I'll start with how I got into this.
- 7:01Speaker 5: So it started with the Bachelorette. So being on the Bachelorette.
- 7:05Speaker 5: It had happened from a good buddy of mine who
- 7:07Speaker 5: happened to be on Michelle young season, Daniel Totley. He
- 7:11Speaker 5: goes on the show, he's there for you know, a
- 7:13Speaker 5: few weeks. I'm about six months out of my last
- 7:16Speaker 5: serious relationship, and he's like, hey, man, give this thing
- 7:19Speaker 5: a shot, Like this is unreal. I made a bunch
- 7:21Speaker 5: of great buddies and like, what a cool experience. And
- 7:25Speaker 5: I was at a point in my career where I
- 7:27Speaker 5: was like, you know what, I could take a little
- 7:29Speaker 5: break from my sales job here, I've kind of felt
- 7:33Speaker 5: like I needed something to refresh it. So I try
- 7:37Speaker 5: dis bachelorette thing that my mom and sisters love, you know.
- 7:41Speaker 5: I thought it'd be kind of cool to surprise and
- 7:43Speaker 5: if I did it. But then I get further in
- 7:48Speaker 5: the process and I'm like, Okay, this is like kind
- 7:50Speaker 5: of cool, unique, and the Bachelorette happens and obviously it
- 7:54Speaker 5: doesn't work out for us. Then I am I'm initially
- 8:00Speaker 5: asked about would you be interested in being the Bachelor?
- 8:03Speaker 5: And I initially was so traumatized from the first experience
- 8:08Speaker 5: on the Bachelorette, was like I need to take a breather.
- 8:10Speaker 5: I need to just like figure out what I just did.
- 8:12Speaker 5: This hasn't even like aired yet, what's going to happen?
- 8:16Speaker 5: And so it was a little bit just of a
- 8:17Speaker 5: back and forth of like I like I already went
- 8:20Speaker 5: back to my job at Oracle right after the Bachelorette,
- 8:23Speaker 5: Like it was a week period of when I went
- 8:25Speaker 5: home to see my family and then I was already
- 8:27Speaker 5: back in the office, like nothing changed. But after speaking
- 8:32Speaker 5: with some of the executive producers, talking with Mike Slice
- 8:36Speaker 5: at the time, you know, they did make it sound
- 8:39Speaker 5: really appealing, but there was also the other side of
- 8:42Speaker 5: it of yes, like like we'd like you to give
- 8:47Speaker 5: this a shot, but then they also do the but
- 8:50Speaker 5: we're also considering other people as well, and we don't
- 8:53Speaker 5: know where this is going to go. So I was like, Okay,
- 8:55Speaker 5: this is like low risk, like it's probably not going
- 8:58Speaker 5: to be me anyway. So to be completely transparent, I
- 9:01Speaker 5: don't know if I can say this, like I didn't
- 9:03Speaker 5: know I was going to be the pastor till about
- 9:05Speaker 5: an hour before they announced me.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Live on TV.
- 9:09Speaker 5: So I never really had a full process of I
- 9:11Speaker 5: am going to do this and I am going to
- 9:13Speaker 5: be this. It was always like there's other people that
- 9:16Speaker 5: are potentially going to be it, So I'm like cool,
- 9:19Speaker 5: like whoever you know deserves it or gets it, like
- 9:23Speaker 5: best of luck, I'd be cool if it's me, but
- 9:24Speaker 5: if not, no worries. Because I lived through the process
- 9:28Speaker 5: and I felt those real feelings that I could see it,
- 9:30Speaker 5: I'm like, oh, it could work for me. But also
- 9:32Speaker 5: I never got that confirmation until literally live on TV
- 9:36Speaker 5: of like no, now you're in this position. So then
- 9:38Speaker 5: it was like an oh, like what did I sign
- 9:40Speaker 5: up for? Like now it's real. I had no time
- 9:42Speaker 5: to process at all. So then yeah, yeah, that's how
- 9:48Speaker 5: I got to that point of being in it.
- 10:00Speaker 4: If you could go back, you don't have to tell us.
- 10:04Speaker 4: You don't have to tell us what actually happened, because
- 10:07Speaker 4: I know everybody's always talked about you and Rachel and
- 10:09Speaker 4: what happened in the Fantasy Suite and you're like, oh,
- 10:10Speaker 4: that's antichlomagic, blah blah blah. We just didn't agree. We
- 10:14Speaker 4: just were not compatible. And I totally can see how
- 10:17Speaker 4: that happens in the Fantasy Suite and how like it
- 10:19Speaker 4: actually was probably anti colomatic. But anyway, what I want
- 10:22Speaker 4: to ask about is from your season, if there's one
- 10:26Speaker 4: storyline that did not appear on TV the way it
- 10:30Speaker 4: really unfolded, what was it?
- 10:33Speaker 3: Oh my god? From our seat, is there.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Anything that like you like stay awake and you're like, oh,
- 10:37Speaker 4: that was so frustrating or not anymore, you know, maybe
- 10:41Speaker 4: you could sleep now, But like right after the fact,
- 10:43Speaker 4: you were like, oh man, I can't believe that America
- 10:45Speaker 4: thinks it happened like that.
- 10:48Speaker 5: I mean there's a lot when I like look back
- 10:50Speaker 5: at I'm like, oh my god, how did I get
- 10:52Speaker 5: in that position.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Why did I do or say that? But one that
- 10:57Speaker 3: was maybe misconstrued.
- 11:00Speaker 5: Was I mean, it's just like a little like it's
- 11:03Speaker 5: a little tiny part in it, but it always kind
- 11:05Speaker 5: of like gets brought up sometimes in like real life
- 11:08Speaker 5: or or or whatnot. It was like during like the
- 11:10Speaker 5: COVID point when when I had COVID and there's like
- 11:16Speaker 5: a situation where like Greer and I are talking and
- 11:19Speaker 5: then you know, I get ambassed as like oh, this
- 11:22Speaker 5: guy's in it.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Well she's she's trying to.
- 11:24Speaker 5: Relate, and I like completely look back and I'm like, yeah,
- 11:27Speaker 5: I know. If I was a viewer, I'd be like, yeah,
- 11:29Speaker 5: that guy, that guy did not handle that well, Like
- 11:31Speaker 5: why yeah that there's they didn't show everything and what
- 11:40Speaker 5: I could like, she's great, I'm happy. I hope she's
- 11:43Speaker 5: doing whatever she's doing wherever she's living, like nothing but
- 11:46Speaker 5: the best. I think Kate and her are still friends.
- 11:48Speaker 5: But that is not where, not truly how things went down.
- 11:52Speaker 5: Like if you were there, you know, it was like
- 11:55Speaker 5: there was nothing there's no bad intent from me and
- 11:59Speaker 5: there was no intent for her. It was just like
- 12:02Speaker 5: bad timing and we both misread the situation and it
- 12:04Speaker 5: was like a good moment for good TV. So I
- 12:08Speaker 5: guess it was so awkward and plus I'm like, yeah,
- 12:11Speaker 5: I'm like trying try not to cough out a long
- 12:14Speaker 5: I'm sick, and she later gets sick about like less
- 12:16Speaker 5: than a week later. So yeah, it was just pure chaos,
- 12:20Speaker 5: the panic that was going on when we're trying to
- 12:22Speaker 5: figure out how we're going to do a ceremony. Virtually
- 12:26Speaker 5: I wanted to cancel it that like we can't. We
- 12:28Speaker 5: got our deadlines and it was it was bad.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Yeah, it was definitely.
- 12:36Speaker 1: It was definitely lumpy, like it had like its like
- 12:40Speaker 1: weird moments. And I remember watching the season in the
- 12:44Speaker 1: moment with Greer, like you kind of gone on this like,
- 12:46Speaker 1: oh this is working. This is a nice guy, and
- 12:50Speaker 1: like he has some incredible women, right, Like we can
- 12:52Speaker 1: name a lot of the women from Katie to Gabby
- 12:54Speaker 1: to to a Reel Ariel to Greet, Like you had
- 13:00Speaker 1: some standouts and we're like, this is gonna be good.
- 13:02Speaker 1: And I remember that Greer moment felt like from an
- 13:06Speaker 1: audience perspective from when we were breaking down almost Famous podcast,
- 13:11Speaker 1: like it felt like your season all all of a
- 13:12Speaker 1: sudden didn't go downhill as a season, but it went
- 13:15Speaker 1: downhill for you as a lead, like it kind of
- 13:19Speaker 1: it felt like chaos kind of then started swirling around
- 13:22Speaker 1: you as the lead, which made great TV, probably didn't
- 13:25Speaker 1: feel good for you.
- 13:27Speaker 5: I mean, like that's one thing that I had to
- 13:32Speaker 5: adjust to. And you don't feel it in the moment.
- 13:34Speaker 5: You don't feel like it's like a spiral in the
- 13:36Speaker 5: moment or a downhill feeling. You're like, okay these are as.
- 13:41Speaker 5: The weeks go on, more decisions have to be made,
- 13:44Speaker 5: Tougher decisions have to be made on both parties, So
- 13:48Speaker 5: like we all know it's gonna get harder as it
- 13:50Speaker 5: gets closer to the end. But then like, yeah, watching it,
- 13:53Speaker 5: I could see that that would be a part where
- 13:55Speaker 5: you're like, oh, this is the start of the typical
- 13:57Speaker 5: bachelor drama that's going to happen.
- 13:59Speaker 3: It's gonna happen.
- 14:02Speaker 5: But yeah, no, it's just like as you both know,
- 14:05Speaker 5: like there's yeah, sixteen to twenty hours of filming a
- 14:09Speaker 5: day and they that's it for like a nice hour
- 14:12Speaker 5: and a half episode.
- 14:13Speaker 3: There is so much that it has missed.
- 14:15Speaker 5: Yeah there is there is, but yes, you're right, it did.
- 14:19Speaker 5: It hit a little bit of a chaotic point.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I don't remember, actually might I don't remember the context
- 14:25Speaker 1: for this really long quote. But back in the day,
- 14:31Speaker 1: Nick Vile did come out and call you, and I
- 14:34Speaker 1: don't know if he's done this with any other Bachelor,
- 14:37Speaker 1: but for whatever reason, the context again I forget, he
- 14:40Speaker 1: called you a total dick was his quote. Do you
- 14:44Speaker 1: remember the context for that? How did you respond to that?
- 14:47Speaker 1: How does that make you feel? Because I don't remember
- 14:50Speaker 1: what would have been done other than the final week
- 14:53Speaker 1: when you did say that you were going to be
- 14:55Speaker 1: selling bit. Obviously that became a storyline because it didn't happen.
- 15:00Speaker 2: I'm guessing that's when this quote came out.
- 15:03Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it's funny, first off, to hear it
- 15:06Speaker 5: coming from Nick Vayel to call someone else to dick, Like,
- 15:09Speaker 5: that's comedic to me.
- 15:12Speaker 3: But I don't know.
- 15:13Speaker 5: I think I rubbed just a lot of people the
- 15:16Speaker 5: wrong way. I know I rubbed you, Ashley the wrong way.
- 15:18Speaker 5: When we first met.
- 15:20Speaker 2: I think, oh, really, tell us more what happened?
- 15:24Speaker 5: We had like a podcast like a I think it
- 15:27Speaker 5: was this same type of podcast, or maybe it's just
- 15:29Speaker 5: you and I Ashley.
- 15:30Speaker 4: No, I remember there was a moment.
- 15:32Speaker 3: Because like I think you were. I was.
- 15:34Speaker 5: I was in the depth of the otis like the
- 15:39Speaker 5: boring bachelor. This guy's robot, Like who is he? And
- 15:43Speaker 5: I think you Ashley were like reading like quotes like
- 15:46Speaker 5: that like kempting, like yeah, are you going to be boring?
- 15:49Speaker 3: Like is this like?
- 15:50Speaker 5: And it was just kind of like I perceived it
- 15:52Speaker 5: as like condescending, and we had like a weird energy
- 15:54Speaker 5: at first, and I was like, Oh, this actually girl
- 15:57Speaker 5: like I She's not she's not liking me, Like Okay,
- 16:00Speaker 5: I got you.
- 16:01Speaker 4: I remember when I met you in real life. We
- 16:06Speaker 4: guys like so different.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Than what I thought.
- 16:09Speaker 5: We had a whole car ride in Santa Barbara for
- 16:10Speaker 5: like three hours to go to the airport, and this
- 16:13Speaker 5: has to be so awkward. That would be so awkward.
- 16:16Speaker 4: No, it wasn't, because we had already like hung out
- 16:18Speaker 4: earlier in the week.
- 16:19Speaker 2: I would have loved to be sitting in the backseat
- 16:21Speaker 2: like this is awesome.
- 16:22Speaker 4: But I was going off of it from like a
- 16:24Speaker 4: fans point of view because Ben and I have been
- 16:27Speaker 4: like so removed from the show and because of like
- 16:29Speaker 4: the COVID reasons at that time, like we hadn't really
- 16:32Speaker 4: met a lot of people in real life. So we
- 16:33Speaker 4: started watching the show and talking about it like TV,
- 16:36Speaker 4: you know, we're like, we're just people commenting on what
- 16:38Speaker 4: we see.
- 16:39Speaker 5: Totally, and then I get that, and then for me,
- 16:42Speaker 5: it was still such a fresh feeling of like oh wow,
- 16:44Speaker 5: like hearing negative perspectives on me, Like it was the
- 16:47Speaker 5: first time I've ever been in the public light, and
- 16:49Speaker 5: it's like it's a lot to take in at first.
- 16:51Speaker 5: Now I'm I'm so far removed or used to it
- 16:54Speaker 5: or whatnot. But no, I it like with the Nick
- 16:57Speaker 5: Bayle thing, which yeah, I don't know if he's largely
- 17:02Speaker 5: known to critique, I don't know. I think it just
- 17:07Speaker 5: leads into the I was not what maybe a lot
- 17:11Speaker 5: of viewers wanted to see because like I was very
- 17:15Speaker 5: like I had it one goal and it was to
- 17:17Speaker 5: find my partner. Yeah, there's crazy stuff that happened and
- 17:21Speaker 5: things I did completely wrong, things I mismanaged, But I
- 17:26Speaker 5: mean I'd love to see someone perfect do it absolutely
- 17:29Speaker 5: perfect without any little hinges. Shout out to Joey because
- 17:33Speaker 5: he pretty much did that.
- 17:34Speaker 4: Okay, Joey was one of the perfect Bachelor's.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I will say that, zu you may talk.
- 17:43Speaker 4: You may have been truly the bachelor that was there
- 17:46Speaker 4: for the most good reasons. You were there for the
- 17:51Speaker 4: most right reasons, even Ben, Like you know, Ben, I
- 17:57Speaker 4: feel like you liked the Spotlight more than Zad.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Definitely definitely like the Spoley more than Zac did. Yeah,
- 18:04Speaker 1: I still talk about the show for a living. Yes,
- 18:08Speaker 1: very much, very much owned the bachelor role more than
- 18:11Speaker 1: Zac did.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Or zachly.
- 18:15Speaker 4: Would you consider your biggest mistake during your experience to
- 18:19Speaker 4: be the way that you laid out that you weren't
- 18:22Speaker 4: going to sleep with anybody before the fantasy suites?
- 18:25Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 18:26Speaker 5: Oh, absolutely, Well a lot of the reasoning behind, like
- 18:32Speaker 5: how I got to that point was like a factor
- 18:37Speaker 5: of wanting to people please, meaning not wanting to hurt
- 18:40Speaker 5: anyone in this like really pivotal part of this season,
- 18:43Speaker 5: like right up to the engagement where you know, there's
- 18:46Speaker 5: you know, it's it's the three Overnights, the three fantasies
- 18:50Speaker 5: like that's and then right next door is engagement and
- 18:53Speaker 5: wanting to keep everyone happy and not trying to muddy
- 18:56Speaker 5: the waters, and you know, talking to my good friend
- 19:01Speaker 5: Sean Lowe and listening to hey, Sean, how did you
- 19:04Speaker 5: do this? Like, you're happily married with beautiful family. How
- 19:07Speaker 5: did you crack the code? Because everything I've ever seen
- 19:10Speaker 5: is like a lot of messy relationships and they never
- 19:13Speaker 5: end up working. How do I be different? Because like,
- 19:15Speaker 5: I want this to work. He talked me through on
- 19:18Speaker 5: you know, how we viewed the final weeks, and I
- 19:21Speaker 5: was like, oh my god, like that is that's a
- 19:25Speaker 5: smart reason.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Now.
- 19:27Speaker 5: What I didn't inquire or asked more about was like
- 19:30Speaker 5: the reasoning behind it, and for him it was religious purposes.
- 19:33Speaker 5: That's why I was just doing it on the fact
- 19:36Speaker 5: of like I think, you know, put on my you know,
- 19:39Speaker 5: got on my high horse. I think everyone will appreciate
- 19:41Speaker 5: this if we, you know, don't muddy the waters and
- 19:44Speaker 5: we just like just keep going the best best way
- 19:49Speaker 5: we can. And what I didn't take into account was
- 19:52Speaker 5: what do the women want, Like it's also them at
- 19:55Speaker 5: the end of the day, of like what do they
- 19:57Speaker 5: want to or want to they want or need to
- 20:01Speaker 5: go further in this process? And I kind of just
- 20:04Speaker 5: made a blanket statement said now let's just keep this messing.
- 20:09Speaker 5: That's that's where I completely went wrong. I did not
- 20:12Speaker 5: leave it up for it to be like a conversation
- 20:15Speaker 5: and discussion. I was I had the intention of not
- 20:19Speaker 5: wanting to hurt anyone, but in reality it ended up
- 20:21Speaker 5: hurting more.
- 20:23Speaker 3: So.
- 20:24Speaker 5: Yes, to answer your question in a long winded fashion, yeah, yeah,
- 20:28Speaker 5: I would totally change that.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Yeah, Zach.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Obviously, life now, as we've talked about the beginning of
- 20:43Speaker 1: the show, is very much on a trajectory of relatability
- 20:48Speaker 1: or normalcy or whatever kind of when you want to
- 20:51Speaker 1: call it. Your fiance has been amazing. I think it's
- 20:57Speaker 1: it's admirable, it's cool, it's it's really special because you
- 21:00Speaker 1: don't see it very often at keeping close friendships with
- 21:03Speaker 1: others from your season, How does.
- 21:06Speaker 2: That feel to you?
- 21:07Speaker 1: Do you then keep close relationships? Has it ever gotten awkward?
- 21:10Speaker 4: We're talking about Gabby, We're talking about Katie's friendship with
- 21:14Speaker 4: Gabby and other.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean you see her out on girls' trips with.
- 21:17Speaker 5: Other Oh yeah, yeah, they're actually planning another one and
- 21:21Speaker 5: Dan actually, like I think the book did it. I
- 21:23Speaker 5: think they're going Montana or something in a few months. So,
- 21:27Speaker 5: like they are still very close in the beginning. Yeah,
- 21:32Speaker 5: initially I felt a little like this is kind of crazy,
- 21:35Speaker 5: like nerve racking, but like, kudos to you, Kate, like
- 21:37Speaker 5: for keeping your friendship and with everyone, Like I'm so
- 21:41Speaker 5: happy for you, Like that's awesome that you are all
- 21:43Speaker 5: mature and can handle that, Like I'm more nervous. And
- 21:46Speaker 5: it was funny. We actually, I think it was early
- 21:49Speaker 5: last year. I had been planning a buddy's trip a
- 21:53Speaker 5: couple guys from from college, and Kate thought I was
- 21:57Speaker 5: leaving on a Thursday to a Sunday, and so she's like, oh,
- 22:00Speaker 5: I'm gonna have some of the Bechelor girls stay at
- 22:02Speaker 5: her house and stay in Austin. I was like, okay, great,
- 22:04Speaker 5: have fun. Well she got the dates mixed up. I
- 22:07Speaker 5: actually left on Friday and she invited everyone to come
- 22:09Speaker 5: in on Thursday, and so we all spent the night
- 22:14Speaker 5: under one roof watching movies. There was like five of
- 22:19Speaker 5: the girls from the show and we're like making hot chocolate.
- 22:23Speaker 5: We're having this complete like just relaxing night. Yeah, it
- 22:27Speaker 5: was a girl's night, totally fun. But we were thinking, like, wait,
- 22:31Speaker 5: a lot of people that are like super die hard
- 22:33Speaker 5: about this show would lose their mind that we're all hanging.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Out right now. We didn't let anyone know.
- 22:38Speaker 5: It was like everybody but and then after that, I
- 22:42Speaker 5: was like, oh no, like it's it's totally cool, it's normal.
- 22:45Speaker 5: And then I've seen I've seen them since, like I'll
- 22:47Speaker 5: still see Charity and Dawnton, see Ariel, I'll see you know,
- 22:51Speaker 5: Gabye will come by like it's it's it's it's casual
- 22:54Speaker 5: and normal, not as weird anymore.
- 22:57Speaker 4: You and Katie I'm going to crown as the most
- 23:00Speaker 4: sure characters on the show.
- 23:03Speaker 3: Ah, I'll take that. Thank you, Ashley. We've come like
- 23:06Speaker 3: full circle from since we've met.
- 23:08Speaker 2: So I know so much respective it feels.
- 23:12Speaker 1: It feels like things are really good, Zach. In your
- 23:16Speaker 1: world post Bachelor time, I still will say no matter
- 23:19Speaker 1: what anybody wants to argue with me. One of the
- 23:21Speaker 1: most iconic scenes of any season ever is you and
- 23:25Speaker 1: Katie sitting in the rain, in the middle of a
- 23:26Speaker 1: jungle where it looks like you should be full of
- 23:28Speaker 1: snakes and everything else, having a very intense conversation. And
- 23:32Speaker 1: all I can think about the whole time was can
- 23:35Speaker 1: the show not get these people a room?
- 23:37Speaker 3: Like?
- 23:37Speaker 1: Can they just not sit down and have this conversation
- 23:39Speaker 1: a place that doesn't look miserable? It was something that
- 23:45Speaker 1: will always stand out to me. Zach, continue best, success,
- 23:50Speaker 1: good luck in the relationship and moving forward. Then with
- 23:53Speaker 1: the elopement that you said will happen soon, Tell Katie
- 23:57Speaker 1: that we wish here our best and can continue to
- 24:00Speaker 1: do great things. Until next time, I've been Ben.
- 24:03Speaker 4: I've been Ashley. See you guys.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Thank you, Zach, thank you.
