- 0:05Drama, Darling drama, Darling drama, Darling who is behind the mask?
- 0:21Joining me today to talk about feud the Swans, actually Capoti versus the Swans.
- 0:28It's Emily Dereesis. Oh it's me me. Yeah, I knew,
- 0:33I knew it was you. I'm sorry, I was you. Oh,
- 0:36Emily, if you're not watching this, if you're not tier two, well
- 0:39of course you're tier two because this is the only way to get this recording.
- 0:47Oh but if you're not watching it and you're listening to it. Emily
- 0:50came onto the show with a gold mask. Yes, a gorgeous gold mask,
- 0:58gorgeous California gold mask for the masquerade ball that Amy's hosting this evening.
- 1:02Oh god, I wish I don't have one masquerade mask. Shame on me,
- 1:07shame, shame of all the things I have, the millions of wigs.
- 1:15Yeah, you use your feather fan. Oh right, I should.
- 1:19It's okay, It's okay. There's other times other Capoti Swans masquerade. That
- 1:25was it, That was it? That was the one. Oh god,
- 1:30it's so great. This is such a fun bonus up. And by the
- 1:34way, before we get into it, I can't not acknowledge the vintage wardrobe
- 1:40pieces that Emily is bringing to the tables for these episodes today, tell me
- 1:46what you're wearing. I think this was just a department store, generic department
- 1:52store piece from I think maybe nineteen sixty eight. Now, I of course
- 1:57have it unbuttoned several buttons. Babe would never no, but but it can
- 2:04go all the way at the time. So cute, show the people,
- 2:07show the darlings how it can. Okay, you don't have to button it
- 2:09up, that's all. Oh yeah, it's like a real like it's very
- 2:15Yeah, it's very conservative. If you'd like, if you're like, please,
- 2:21or if you don't like, and then you can do one of these.
- 2:24It's a little seventies. It's that kind. I thought it wide.
- 2:29Yeah, it's so wid joy. Yeah, yes, it's giving wide birth.
- 2:36It's giving it's giving seventies. Right, wait, what is it sixties?
- 2:40It's I was told it was late sixties. Sixties. That makes sense,
- 2:46Yeah, but it is. You could have worn this straight into nineteen
- 2:50seventy five and been just fine. Yeah, I agree, I agree,
- 2:53but it does because it's got the more conservative shoulders and and pattern, it
- 3:00does seem to skew closer to the later sixties. Yes, yes, ma'am.
- 3:07It does. Wow, so great And last week you had a vintage
- 3:12piece on as well. I've got a lot of them. I probably wear
- 3:16a vintage piece probably every other day. Wow. But that's very cool and
- 3:23very cheap. Also, I will add also great for the environment. Yes,
- 3:29you know, I mean I love fast fashion too, so don't get
- 3:34me wrong. Well you balance it out, you know, yeah, you
- 3:38balance it out. I was starting to watch, I mean, I got
- 3:43like halfway through it, but Darling Russ sent me a YouTube video of a
- 3:51woman, a very lovely British woman who's covering like the in depth stories of
- 3:57each of the Swans, well the ones that are featured on Capoti versus the
- 4:00Swans, talking about like you know, and I've only gotten through Babes so
- 4:05far, but it's like, we know, where was she born? Where
- 4:10you know, where was she raised? Where did she go to school?
- 4:13This that and the other thing? How did this? So I'm getting a
- 4:15little more detail about her at least at this point, and I will continue
- 4:20to do that. Didn't know that her marriage to Bill Pelley Paley was their
- 4:28second marriage, both of them. Did you know that you knew that because
- 4:31you've been reading books. Yeah, and not I mean like they Yeah,
- 4:38Bill Paley was running around on her like the entire time. But yeah,
- 4:42and also did you read in that book that like when he was married,
- 4:46he put Babe up in an apartment in New York. Yeah, and then
- 4:51he got divorced and then they got married. It's like she was the other
- 4:55woman exactly. Most of these scals were the other women at some point and
- 5:00there while we're this current sixties seventies timeline, they had been the other women
- 5:06and had now married there guys, and a lot of them carried on to
- 5:13affairs also well married, and Babe had a brief affair, but for the
- 5:18most part she was just like trying to keep up appearances. Wow, I
- 5:26didn't know that about everybody. Oh that's so interesting. Yeah, Like later
- 5:31in the episode, when Slim's really pissed about Pamela being invited, that was
- 5:39Pamela. She had been married to Winston Churchill's son. But then Pamela was
- 5:46like she was a party gal and partied like all the time with whoever.
- 5:51And I guess Slim had left her first husband and had now been married to
- 6:00Hawks and then she left Slim was falling around with everybody and left him for
- 6:08I'm trying to remember Heywood. So anyway, like they were all just so
- 6:12mixed in the mix together. And also like I think Pamela had hooked up
- 6:15with Bill Paley, Like it was just a crazy well how did she steal
- 6:20her husband? When Slim says she stile she did Slim was already like very
- 6:29involved with her current husband and like sleeping around and yes, wow, okay,
- 6:39yeah, that really sheds a different light on everybody at this point in
- 6:45my opinion, Like they're you know, they're acting like the scorn woman,
- 6:48when in fact they're also playing that same game and they they It just goes
- 6:54to show, you know, sometimes in that old saying, you get them,
- 6:57how you you lose them? How you get them? I mean if
- 7:00your partner is married, I mean, if you're having an affair with a
- 7:05married person, then you end up marrying them. I mean, chances are
- 7:08they're going to cheat on you too. So that is wild. It's wild.
- 7:13And it's also like they all it was such like a it was everyone
- 7:17married for money, so we saw the money drying up, or you met
- 7:21somebody with more money. It was just kind of like moving around, went
- 7:27from like money to money. Yeah, so, and I think maybe at
- 7:32the beginning of these relationships there was like a lot of lust, but for
- 7:39the most part that would wear off pretty much. And this was also like
- 7:42back when you would get married after knowing someone for two months, because yes,
- 7:46right, it's true, right, right exactly, and Bill Pally wanting
- 7:51her to be, you know, this kind of trophy wife in the sense
- 7:55that she just keeps up appearances in that way, looking perfect all the time,
- 8:00and so it worked for him as well. Yeah, yeah, of
- 8:03course. I also learned that Babe is the one who was the trendsetter for
- 8:09tying the scarf around the handle of your handbag. That's correct. Emily knows
- 8:16all of this. Well, that's in the book too. I love that.
- 8:20Oh that so such. She was warm one day and just tied it
- 8:24around, and everyone at the cafe noticed. It was somewhere overseas too,
- 8:28wow, or maybe it was or in California, I forget where it was,
- 8:31but it was not in New York. And then like mmmm, every
- 8:35like it got talked about in the magazines. Thing, Oh that is so
- 8:39cool. See I love that kind of thing, and her just working at
- 8:43Glamour magazine, you know, I mean just because you know, like you
- 8:48can get a job there with connections and with money and you're not going to
- 8:54get paid much there, but you they don't need to be right. It
- 8:58was just kind of like a a funny hobby. Yeah. Yeah, what's
- 9:05that called like a I can't think of the word, but you know where
- 9:09it's just for show, basically for the magazine, right, I see,
- 9:13like the magazine benefits more, yeah, or almost like yeah, almost like
- 9:18she's an ambassador of Vogue. Yeah, there you go, or Glamour.
- 9:22She worked at Glamour and then I think Vogue. But right, yeah,
- 9:26interesting, but yeah, they all have really cool backstories. I see that
- 9:31people think that they're really shallow, and I'm like, I mean they were
- 9:35keeping up appearances, and I'm sure in like a hundred years or less,
- 9:41people are going to look at influencers and be like these vapid idiots. It's
- 9:46like, well, that's wrong, you did that. That's yeah, They're
- 9:50not wrong, no, no, but I think there are a lot of
- 9:52them who aren't. And you, I agree, they're complex, tortured in
- 9:58many ways, unhappy, Sad and Lee Radsville. You know, set it
- 10:05straight to the camera that you know Copoti takes advantage of these women who are
- 10:11like sad and lonely, and then he acts like he wants to protect them,
- 10:16and then you know he's really not what you know how Lee Radsville,
- 10:24Radsville, I'm always gonna say it, said to the camera in that salon
- 10:31scene, Kenneth's Kenneth, Kenneth Betells. If you google it, if you
- 10:37look up Kenneth, I think I'm saying it right, that's salon. They
- 10:43nailed it. Wow. It was like a really huge salon back then in
- 10:48Manhattan. And I think I'm saying it right. I just always like people
- 10:52would talk about Kenneth's and I think it was Kenneth but tell or b A
- 10:56T e ll E or something. And they nailed it on the set design.
- 11:05Wow, see it. If you google it, I will google.
- 11:07I'll google the heck out of that. Yeah, I'm sorry, but what
- 11:11were you gonna say about the salon? Oh that she said to the interviewer,
- 11:16She was like, don't think there is such a thing as a best
- 11:18friend, because even your sister will steal your man. Oh, they hated
- 11:24each other. So did Jackie steal someone John? Yeah, oh no,
- 11:31no, onass okay, gotcha, gotcha? Because yeah, Lee was with
- 11:41him first and was really into him and also liked uh could provide a lot
- 11:46of security. But then it was like Onasa's kind of sidebarred, and it
- 11:50was clear that he was with Lee to kind of be like proximity to the
- 11:56Kennedys and to Jackie. And then then I guess after John, after JFK
- 12:05was killed, Lee invited Jackie on a cruise with them, like on his
- 12:11private yacht, and it was kind of all bets are off at that point,
- 12:15and he gave he would give Jackie like these insane gifts, and then
- 12:20Lee Raswell said, and then he gave me like a trinket bracelet I wouldn't
- 12:22even give to my daughter. Oh my god. Yeah, they had like
- 12:28a weird relationship because also then like she was around a lot though with her
- 12:33sister. They were like on this boat a lot, weren't they, I
- 12:37think together, And they were together. There were a lot of photographs,
- 12:41and I think they had times where they were in better company with each other,
- 12:46and then there would be like years where they weren't. When Jackie died,
- 12:50she didn't leave Lee one thing. Oh my god. Right, yeah,
- 12:56so she left Lee's daughter and I guess, well, her son had
- 13:07already died, but she left Jackie left her daughter five hundred thousand dollars.
- 13:11But also because Lee's daughter moved in with Jackie when she's a teenager. Oh
- 13:18my god. Yeah. And then when Lee died, she leave one cent
- 13:24to Caroline. And she had a trust of like fifty million dollars and she
- 13:31didn't leave any She left it all to her daughter. Ps. Not one
- 13:35thing to Carol Radziwell or you know Caroline Kennedy either. Yeah, so I
- 13:46don't know MENI not well had had Carol's husband already passed at that point.
- 13:52Yeah, yeah, yeah, she just died in twenty nineteen, Lee Radzwell
- 13:56did. Oh my god. Yeah, wow, this is such My mind
- 14:07is like really blown because she and Carol Raswell were on great terms. So
- 14:15well, not great, but like she'd always had she had her couch that
- 14:20leopard yeah yeah. And and and Lee would always reference, even years after
- 14:26her son died, that this is my daughter in law. So you'd think
- 14:31that she'd leave her painting a vase, a something nothing. That is just
- 14:39the craziest. Yeah, so Lee, well, I mean so she has
- 14:46one daughter then, is that right? Right? Right? Do we know
- 14:50who is that? Is she like a socialite? No, No, she's
- 14:56very to herself. I I think I looked her up at some point,
- 15:01but it's not anybody that we would have known. Wow, oh my gosh,
- 15:05that's so interesting Topper Mortimer Tinsley's ex. Wait right, yeah, yeah,
- 15:20okay she is he is somehow related to Lee Radsville Radswell, Oh okay,
- 15:30it's just funny, that's what I think. Russ told me that.
- 15:33Yeah, oh interesting. You know, she was married several times ps not
- 15:37a princess that like went wild through the press. But the man that she
- 15:43married was not a prince anymore when she married him. So Lee, she
- 15:48still yeah, but if you look like she was Princess radzwell, like she
- 15:52just took the prince's title, but it wasn't real, so she just never
- 15:58forgot it. But that's how Carol got it. Carroll is princess Razwell No,
- 16:03noah, remember remember when Carol was saying that she yeah, yeah,
- 16:11yeah, that's all not real, I mean technically not real. She seems
- 16:17to believe it when she said that, yeah, at one point he was
- 16:22a prince, but then at that it would be like if Harry married somebody
- 16:26now it could be like, yeah, you were a prince, but you're
- 16:30not now and you don't have the accouterments and all. Okay, got it,
- 16:33got it? Oh wow, So he was a prince at one point
- 16:37through marriage, through a second marriage. Really uh no, he was.
- 16:42He really was that like it didn't function anymore or something like that. I
- 16:48don't really know the ins and outs, but that was something that was always
- 16:52like I get confused about it, like Princess Margaret, like you know,
- 16:57like when somebody become that and then yeah, it wasn't legit. Okay,
- 17:04interesting, Wow, okay, this is great. I love all these factorys
- 17:11that you've learned. I mean when I said Princess Margaret, I mean Princess
- 17:18Grace, not oh Princess Grace. Okay. Yeah. I was like,
- 17:22well, I don't even know who Princess Margaret is. So I was like,
- 17:23I'm out, that's Charles's sister. Oh okay, didn't wait, No,
- 17:30I mean I mean that's Elizabeth's sister from Queen Elizabeth. Yeah, I
- 17:37know who that is. It was her sister. Oh yeah, Margaret,
- 17:41Yes, of course I know who that is. Yes, of course,
- 17:44of course, I mean I am that far in the Crown. So yeah,
- 17:48there you go. Did you watch The Crown? Oh yeah, but
- 17:52I haven't watched this current season yet, but yeah, it's great. So
- 18:00this episode of Feud was like such an extraordinary, a different episode that than
- 18:10we've seen before because they did it in the whole documentary style, which really
- 18:14shifted everything, and it gave you the feel of I mean, I hate
- 18:19to say it, but real housewives. I wrote that in my notes.
- 18:23It felt like a Housewives episode. It really the confessionals, yes, the
- 18:29confessionals. Also the the storyline of pitting them against each other with like,
- 18:38well just the light storylines threaded through about who was going to be announced as
- 18:44the guest of honor, and they each thought, you know, they were
- 18:48going to be the one, and he's playing this game with them, so
- 18:51it just sort of ends up stirring. It's like, you know, you're
- 18:55a shitster. He's such a shitster, I mean, and he really was.
- 18:59I mean, that was what he exactly what he did. So Catherine
- 19:03Graham was like, no one saw that coming. And as prestigious as she
- 19:10was, she wasn't one of them. She's like, you know, even
- 19:14though she like owned the Washington Post. It was so like random, Well,
- 19:19they had been hanging out together, but Babe he met her through Babe
- 19:25too, Yeah, which is such a like backstabbing moment. Yeah, I
- 19:33guess it's just like that that whole masquerade thing. Well, actually, let
- 19:40me take a step back. That documentary is uh that did happen with those
- 19:45guys? And this is about the show? Is that documentary? You can
- 19:49watch it on YouTube. It's like twenty nine minutes and it's really just Truman
- 19:55talking to the camera and walking around and then talking to a Newsweek reporter that's
- 20:00asking him about in Cold Blood. And it's really boring. None of the
- 20:03Swans, I mean, it's not like this at all. So it's really
- 20:07cool that they imagined this housewives style, right, a found footage kind of
- 20:15thing, right. I mean, it was definitely far fetched that they would
- 20:18just happen to be in Babe's house when she was like, fine, go
- 20:22to a hotel. I don't care you're filming, you know. I mean
- 20:27there were definitely things that I was like, well, I mean, for
- 20:32drama's sake. It's totally fine. But there's no way that like, you
- 20:37know, they were getting this kind of great footage. I mean, can
- 20:40you imagine. Yeah, no, it's so it's very Ryan Murphy. Yeah,
- 20:45which I love. Oh yeah, love love love, love love love.
- 20:49When they're at lunch for the first time at come on, you know
- 20:56the place, what's the name of it, love Love Root bask Yeah,
- 21:03you got it, La Coats Busk and so I guess Lee and Babe were
- 21:08the ones behind doing this documentary, right because it sounded like they're the ones
- 21:15that said these contacts, Ah got it? Okay ye so and then to
- 21:21see cz be like, what an intrusion. It's impossible to act natural.
- 21:26This is terrible, And it was just so funny because it was like,
- 21:27well, this is the beginning of what a Housewives scene is a New York
- 21:32City luncheon. Now act natural, And then you see them kind of starting
- 21:37to act natural because they have no choice but to continue on the conversation,
- 21:41and that was just really really cool. And they all start thinking that they're
- 21:48gonna be, you know, the guest of honor and that this isn't to
- 21:52celebrate his in cold blood book and how popular it is and how successful and
- 21:59he's gonna have this huge party and you know it. It It just I
- 22:06love these interviews that where Babe is really the only one who didn't trash him
- 22:12right in their interview. Everyone else just ripped the just ripped them to shreds.
- 22:19So yeah, well, I guess did Ceaz though? Was she kind
- 22:26to him? Yeah? I feel like she didn't say I feel like they
- 22:27didn't have a real interview with her in these in this documentary. Yeah,
- 22:33because she was going through well the whole thing with the I R s oh,
- 22:38which was real, but I don't know if it happened then, but
- 22:41yeah, ooh that was tough again housewives, right exactly. Diego Revera Revera,
- 22:51Diego Rivera, her nude, her nude painting that was in that room.
- 22:56Her husband bought that some a bar had that in Mexico City. Whoa,
- 23:02And so when they were going to get married, he like bought that
- 23:06painting so that it hung over a bar in Mexico City. Unbelieva it and
- 23:11like they shoved it away. That's amazing. But Diego Rivera, like that's
- 23:15an unbelievable Yeah, I mean just wow. Wow, wow. And her
- 23:21story, you know, I mean we just got like a snippet of it.
- 23:25What else do you know about her? I mean, did she was
- 23:26she married before? Was this her second marriage or I forget if this is
- 23:32her second marriage, because she she was definitely engaged. And then she was
- 23:37like a party girl and and was kind of like super modern, I would
- 23:47say for that time. And so was Winston Guest. That was her husband,
- 23:51so was his mom, And she really like appreciated that about Ceaz,
- 23:56which I thought was cool. Like I think Winston Guests his mother wanted to
- 24:00like be the first She wanted to like fly a plane around the world or
- 24:04something, be the first woman that would do that, but her husband wouldn't
- 24:10allow it or something. She was a great pilot and all this. Wow.
- 24:12So so she did like Cez even though Cez was wild. And then
- 24:18when they found out there's that nude painting that the family was like, go
- 24:21buy that painting and get it into hiding. So I mean they were reserved
- 24:25too. But yeah, and also who would know that that was her in
- 24:29Mexico City in a bar, you know what I mean? Yeah, I
- 24:33mean it could have been hanging in that in the bar when the Real Housewives
- 24:37of Miami just went there. It could have been there and they just left
- 24:44it alone. Yeah, people would have there would have been rumors a nastiness,
- 24:51but you would have never known. It didn't look really anything like her.
- 24:55I know who would have right, Well, Babe does say a lot
- 25:00nice things about him in these confessionals and talking about how she's like, oh,
- 25:03it's just so nice to have someone who can love you so unconditionally and
- 25:06just be there for you, and oh and yeah, my husband does that
- 25:10too, Like it was just so funny. It's like not at all.
- 25:12And that she wanted to buy Truman a house on Long Island, Yeah,
- 25:19because Bill is buying up properties. Yeah, Bill was at the time.
- 25:25No big deal. I don't want to talk about that. Look, darlings,
- 25:29in life, if someone offers to buy you a house, take the
- 25:32house, take it. Take the house. Because he was in Upshit's Creek,
- 25:37as we saw, and if he only had a house, he may
- 25:41not have been in so much trouble. Yeah, he wouldn't have sold his
- 25:45soul to the devil when he sold those pages of answered prayers. Yeah,
- 25:51you know, because he was desperate. Yeah, this white ball this black
- 25:56and white ball some white ball, of course, I think it's a white
- 26:02party. Immediately, you know, that was a wild scene to see her
- 26:10have to look this woman in the eyes that is carrying her husband's child.
- 26:15Yeah, yeah, yeah, Oh my gosh, I mean, that's just
- 26:21it. It's so funny to like, I mean, for when people get
- 26:26in on like the housewives for like not keeping up appearances. Thank god,
- 26:32you know what I mean, like for being classless of like, well,
- 26:34what's the alternative? We just pretend that that woman isn't pregnant with your husband's
- 26:38kid, like right, you know what I mean? Yeah, Like,
- 26:41I'm glad that we're in a place now where we don't feel like that's something
- 26:47that we need to live with. Yeah, we don't need to cover it
- 26:49up. Yeah. And he was like, oh, you know, I
- 26:56thought that happy Rock a failure was the lost one and she can't be Rock.
- 27:03He's like, droopy Dog. I figured it out. Yeah, I
- 27:07think is it droopy dog? Yes? Hey in the coatroom? Oh my
- 27:15god, that's really good. I can't do it. Did Calista Flockhart's impression
- 27:18help? Because hers was really good? I liked it. Oh did she
- 27:22do one? Yeah? And Oh, that's right, that's right. She
- 27:26kind of gave me. Yeah, she kind of gave him a lisp sort
- 27:30of Yeah, it's kind of like a Tom sand of all, but but
- 27:33also not at all. But like the voice pitch is perfect. You got
- 27:37it? Yeah, I darking here be rock one at the ball to when
- 27:51Joanna when Joey and curs like where's Johnny's like, oh, he's fingering the
- 27:55cup girl as he's wanted to. Yeah, get rid of this murderersh babe,
- 28:15we're asking the wrong question. One does after the wrong question sometimes I'm
- 28:27trueman. Sorry you did it and scene rare. Yeah, you got to
- 28:41like put like a hard boiled egg in your mouth when you do it sounds
- 28:45so gross. I know. Sorry, Sorry, darlings. You're on this
- 28:51journey with us, right, tripping in the ballroom, trip tripping in the
- 28:59ballroom. Apparently I can't do it. I cannot do it. That's how
- 29:03I get Now? How do you get that? Now? Now? Right?
- 29:11For un for the mash rainball? Oh, I guess if you're drying
- 29:23intent you can't killy your husband. I can't. Now I lost it.
- 29:32We're gonna get there, darns. We're gonna get there. This is what
- 29:34we're gonna work on this week. We told you we would come with one,
- 29:37and here it is. You know anyway, it's not a labor day
- 29:41barbecue. Oh true, what am I going to do? What am I
- 29:48ever going to do? Truthan, what am I going to do? What
- 29:49am I going to do? Oh? Rare shot the fuck up? Got
- 29:59every and your wrong? Stop crying, mama. Fiction can drink immuniment the
- 30:06dar Now it sounds like the professor, pour yourself fring finger I'll be there
- 30:18the third. That's that's his urgent voice. Yeah, trying to shout three
- 30:26fingers. Shamppy here in a gimp slams the phone down. Rection to me,
- 30:40pretender and mat to me, is the time of your own movie.
- 30:48You're the hero, not rinsting. You're ch You aren't gonna all wing up
- 30:55on top. Stop crawling. Stop coordinating, cordonating, coorginating. Stop coordinating.
- 31:07It's coordinating. It's almost like except corky. Like if a corky could
- 31:12talk, this is what a corky would sound like. Well, he's built
- 31:17like one. Yeah he does. He looks just like a corky. Sounds
- 31:19like a corky. And he's a woman's best friend. Yeah done, and
- 31:23he'll bite you watch out. Yeah he he sits with it with like Queen
- 31:30Elizabeth. Queen Elizabeth loved to Corky. She would have loved Truman. Mm
- 31:37queen carrying, He'll never harver want to lay when you want gone because you're
- 31:49so powerful from the Crown. Yes, Capodia is now in the crown,
- 32:00Capoti versus the Crown. Next on feud any Who, one of the most
- 32:10diverse social gatherings ever assembled, took three months, five hundred and forty names.
- 32:15Equally as noteworthy as making the list was being crossed off it. That
- 32:22was the black and White ball. Yeah you can. So that was pretty
- 32:29cool too because they used actual footage from that night and interspersed it. They
- 32:35did. No, I didn't catch it. There was. Yeah, there's
- 32:39actual footage in there and you can google that footage. That footage is out
- 32:44there to watch some of like the entrances, which is pretty cool. That
- 32:49is, I mean, I love that they actually used it. Hmm.
- 32:55I'm curious too about your brinner. Oh yeah, and his small little penis
- 33:02well, I'm wondering if he was. I mean, I'm sure back then
- 33:06I'm sure he was just exposing it to whoever what a psycho? Yeah,
- 33:10I didn't know that about him, but I mean, I mean, I
- 33:14don't know if. I mean, I can't imagine they wouldn't have just said
- 33:16that in the series if there wasn't something behind it. So right, you
- 33:21can assume it's real, absolutely, Yeah, so weird. Yeah, he
- 33:28was with Marlena Dietrich for a really long time. Oh wow. Yeah,
- 33:32but I mean, who wasn't am I right? I mean co Yeah?
- 33:45Oh wait, what was this? Oh slim wait? M cez is living
- 33:52in their guests Oh, Ces's living in the guest house and they're taking everything.
- 33:57Yeah, because like she's up there on the balcony overlooking the ball and
- 34:00people like, oh my gosh, she's living the what's your what was your
- 34:05last name? Again? The guest seuzy guest. Yeah, the guests living
- 34:09in the guest house. Can you believe that was a weird voiceover? By
- 34:15the way, again, these are our voiceovers that like I would have done,
- 34:19you know, and gotten paid for it, and you'd be like and
- 34:21you're like that's so weird, and I'm like I got the money, I'm
- 34:25gonna get residuals for that. Why did they pipe Amy Phillips through the ballroom
- 34:32at the massacred It's just like a side hustle. It's just like what I
- 34:38do you know? How about when Pamela and Slim have that really ridiculous moment
- 34:47where it just was not I don't know if it was the other woman's acting,
- 34:52but that scene just didn't work that great. Do you know what I'm
- 34:57talking about? Yeah, because it wasn't grounded in reality. It was like,
- 35:04it felt like they it felt like when you watch housewives do not really
- 35:09have it out. That's what it felt like. Just didn't feel although or
- 35:15it felt like we were watching a comedy, yeah, or play, that's
- 35:21it it did. It seemed like we were watching a play and the rest
- 35:24of the show doesn't feel like that at all. So I did not like
- 35:28that scene, and I I can't help but blame the other actress that just
- 35:35wasn't as believable, and Diane Lane kind of really I don't know that that
- 35:42wasn't I'm spacing on her name, but remember she was in the feud.
- 35:45She was the assistant writer that wanted to pitch Joan Crawford on a script and
- 35:52Joan Crawford was like, I can't take chances on a first time female scrept
- 36:00remember that. Yeah, she's a great actor. I just can't remember her
- 36:05name. And I thought that she pulled that off, although the whole scene
- 36:09in general just didn't feel Maybe it was the writing. It could have just
- 36:14been the writing. It was too cliche. Yeah, I think that is
- 36:20That's what it was, because it was too cliche. And then Diane Lane
- 36:22couldn't really sell it either, so I was kind of like, ah,
- 36:24this is awkward. But I mean I'm nitpicking. I mean it was totally
- 36:28fine. The scene was like two seconds, you know, but it still
- 36:31just bothered me in that way. I guess. So there was that and
- 36:37Woodward, who that party crashing moment was really really incredible heartbreaking. I would
- 36:46like to know if she actually did show up. I think that's an easy
- 36:50thing I could figure out. But I was wondering. I was like,
- 36:52I wonder if she did crash it m but it was I mean, the
- 36:59thought was, oh, they are in terms of like he would have humiliated
- 37:02her. I'm sure. So now was this before he before the word got
- 37:09out that he was going to be writing a book about her before that scene.
- 37:15Yeah, because this is in sixty six and then she died in seventy
- 37:21five. Well, no, you remember before he even wrote prayers, like
- 37:28before the scene in the restaurant when she came over and confronted him. Oh,
- 37:31you know, I don't know, because he like he like trolled her
- 37:36for years, So I don't know. I would assume that that scene in
- 37:43the restaurant is after the masquerade. I'm pretty sure. I mean, I
- 37:46feel the time stamps, but I'm pretty sure that it was okay. I
- 37:53also was wondering if, like that documentary, I wouldn't think that anyone,
- 37:59like when they have Lee Radzwell like talking about him negatively, I wouldn't think
- 38:06that she would do that on camera. But then if that's true that she
- 38:10did that, then you know, maybe he decided from the footage how much
- 38:19he wants to betray these women because they don't really like him. They're talking
- 38:22trash about Yeah. I mean, none of that foot if that was actually
- 38:28ever recorded, none of it is in the documentary. So maybe, yeah,
- 38:34maybe he just told himself that that's what he was going to do.
- 38:38I mean, like he really had such issues with his mother that and she
- 38:45so wanted to be one of these women. I mean, to connect that
- 38:49line is not that hard either to do answered prayers. So the smallest of
- 38:58sins by one of these women, he would have just put it in the
- 39:00bank of things that his mother had wronged him on. You know. It
- 39:06wasn't as though they did it. It was it just went like to the
- 39:09mother, you know. And he said that Anne Woodward reminded him of his
- 39:15mother. Yeah, which she yeah, when she was like I loved her
- 39:21lines in this Demi Moore's character as Anne Woodward and she's, you know,
- 39:27trying to get into this party and she's like I was, I was kind
- 39:30of like I'm one of your swans. And he's like a pew foul a
- 39:32bush heavy rang ever shrank and she's like, you said, I remind you
- 39:44of your mother? Would you kick your mother out of a party? And
- 39:46she's like your wife out of powder. That's why she became cruel and mean
- 39:53and care of her sw own. And then like she came there for her
- 40:07son because she doesn't want him to be ostracized. And and he's like he
- 40:13can scrame you pretty leave. He like pulls up Meredith where he can it
- 40:25actually is kind of Meredith. Yeah, his voice is it is actually right,
- 40:32that's the closest Oh my god, she was. He was like,
- 40:37because you've shot a father in a fash makes no sense to me. He
- 40:43showed up murderers the door. You're like her, you're a criminal or lowery
- 40:50murther, that was rough and from the whole that was a lot. You
- 41:00know, those people got a lot of capoti that night. They weren't they
- 41:06did. I mean, he was really like among. I mean, I've
- 41:09never been a host of something where I had that much downtime to just fuck
- 41:16off. I was like, why are you behind the bar making drinks?
- 41:20I was thinking the party was over? Yeah, But then next thing,
- 41:23you know, we're on the dance floor. Yeah, and everyone's still there.
- 41:28That was really very cool direction when he's dancing with himself and then you
- 41:35realize that it was with his mom. I knew he was imagining his mother.
- 41:40I knew it. Yeah, I mean, I mean it's pretty obvious,
- 41:45right right, you could kind of but it was yeah that they made
- 41:49it literally the same choreography and everything cool, and Lee Radzeville's like girl girl,
- 42:00you just like, uh completely ripped us all off the dance floor and
- 42:04you were so mad that we were making fools out of ourselves. And look
- 42:07at you now dancing with you no one. Yeah, and Jack just wanted
- 42:13to help everybody have a nice time. Jack is so sweet. I know.
- 42:17You know what's weird is that in reality Cez and Lee came around and
- 42:29like had his back Camodi again. Oh really, So even though they're making
- 42:34Lee out to be like this hard ass, it maybe wasn't the case.
- 42:37Oh that's nice. And you know Jack did talk about him in that documentary.
- 42:43It wasn't all the women. It was like Lee said some stuff and
- 42:46that's and Jack did. That's about it. Yeah. I was like all
- 42:52the Swans were trashing him. That was cool. I love that dance scene.
- 43:00The chicken hash and the balloons, Oh my god, that god awful.
- 43:04His mother was right, she's like who balloons? Like I was like,
- 43:08no, kid, no, someone please call him out on these balloons.
- 43:12Why are they letting these balloons? That was real, Like that was
- 43:15a thing, like all the like, anybody that got an invite was happy
- 43:19to get an invite. But then I guess like the upper upper tier wealth
- 43:23of people were like, what the hell is this thing. This is terrible.
- 43:29We flew from Europe for this, like this is a nightmare. Yeah,
- 43:32I just I thought that Babe was gonna be helping. I mean she
- 43:37was saying it put a pop of color on the tablecloth. She told that
- 43:42woman, you know, it's not a barbecue, so like, why did
- 43:45anyone fix it? But we're balloons, like a big balloons obviously were a
- 43:47big deal then, right, I mean I guess all of it got knocked
- 43:52though, Like the masquerade itself was like the invite of all invites to get.
- 43:58But then the after math seems to be like like cool, Like people
- 44:04that weren't uber wealthy thought it was really cool, and then all the social
- 44:07lights were like, oh my gosh, what were you thinking? This is
- 44:12such humiliation? Oh my god, whoa ooh that's rough. Yeah, because
- 44:20like people flew in from all over the world for this thing, and they
- 44:22were like, is this a joke? Like people thought that they were getting
- 44:27like they thought it was a joke. Yeah, oh my god. Yeah,
- 44:31I mean there were only two things for dinner, yeah, like and
- 44:35pat like and buffet style. Ooh that is how how in God's name would
- 44:43that have happened? I mean, babe was sleeping on it because she was
- 44:46all over the invitations. But then drop the ball after that. You know
- 44:52who wouldn't like it? His sigh from Ronnie. She'd be pissed, pissed,
- 45:00really pissed. Your sexless life, your foodless party. Yep. Wow,
- 45:13Well Nina the mother, we get to see this scene lastly, I
- 45:20mean yeah, pretty much last where she shows up and she's in the masquerade
- 45:25outfit and she's like, oh I put that together. Yeah, very good,
- 45:35very good, thank you, far some one under. Now I'm turning
- 45:40it into share Angie Megan. There you go get their own a salon in
- 45:53Utah with her husband. I'm doing your Angie mother your job. She's part
- 46:07of the Greek mafia. And I didn't shoot a babe bird. I got
- 46:16you, babe. Yeah yeah, so Anita hal So here comes Jess Killing.
- 46:34Will you allow me to do my diskilling? Yeah? All allowing?
- 46:44Oh now, what was the point of inviting a bunch of celebrities if they're
- 46:50only going to cover the faces? Why would I miss the pinnacle of your
- 46:58existence? Never miss an opportunity to be seen? Truman, Well, that's
- 47:10it, thank you, And then what does Truman say to her, I
- 47:19don't know I did it. I gotta get it back. How how Morather?
- 47:23Nope, I've lost it again, and this carousel in my mind of
- 47:28Truman. Yeah, roopy girl, I can't get it back. Mother,
- 47:43I didn't free I can't do it. Oh you, I did it.
- 47:47I did it. I just don't. I feel bad that darlings have to
- 47:52hear my mouth noises as I work on it. Everybody's dr heaving. Sorry,
- 48:02this is so funny to me though, I'm so sorry. I'm having
- 48:07so much fun. You're my birth friend, Marma, You're my best friend.
- 48:16And then they danced a swan leg. Yes, that was really beautiful.
- 48:30Yeah, oh man, just feel sad, like makes me feel sad.
- 48:45Oh yeah, why freight car We feel bad for people who were miscreated
- 48:54by their mothers. Oh and then parison and rape about murder than than for
- 49:15the an asshole like yeah it was, Yes, he was who I mean,
- 49:22but he's very interesting and as a character, like he's so compelling.
- 49:27I just and I love but to know that he was like so diabolical in
- 49:31real life, I'm like, I like that. We're getting a full I
- 49:36hope. I just like that people know the full picture. So he wrote
- 49:40Breakfast to Tiffany's. He wrote in cold Blood and those were his two big
- 49:49hits. Did he have anything after that that? Like, so it seems
- 49:52like he was just in a way struggling to come up with that next big
- 49:58hit, and Answered Prayers never came out. I mean it was post it
- 50:02was published Posthumanous, Humanuminously by Joanne Carson, post Hominously, post hominously homous,
- 50:15oh by joe Anne. Joannet you she was involved, okay, I
- 50:21think, but it wasn't finished though, right, No, I don't think
- 50:25so it was a draft like he did a lot of magazine articles and stuff
- 50:31too, Like he contributed in that way, and he would get these huge
- 50:35like paydays. I honestly, I don't know where his money went. But
- 50:42sometimes, like when he didn't finish Answered Prayers and times in time, he
- 50:46had to pay that money back, like two hundred thousand dollars back, and
- 50:50he just did it to get them off his back. I can't care real
- 50:53morning that I don't have I'm broke. I can't game young hand yamp Oh,
- 51:06that's good, okay, Well, like I don't know if I can.
- 51:09I can work on it all right, Yeah, we'll work on it.
- 51:15Well, I gotta work on it for what I three through the door
- 51:19at SNL. The darlings, your profs, darlings. They they like a
- 51:25loose Truman. I think, ye, I lose not CAPONI emphasis on the
- 51:35poo. You say caputi, I say CAPONI. I like that. Actually
- 51:42that goes back to the use you shragmoner in our shame Girl. That was
- 51:52an interesting scene at the very beginning where Babe really she flexed hard, you
- 51:58know, with her art knowledge. She flexed really hard in both of their
- 52:00faces. Yeah, she's talking about CDs. Oh man, she just really
- 52:07she popped off a little loose. Yeah, Lucy Goosey, let's just say
- 52:13it. Syphilis baby getting rayy baby came rayy baby getting brabies. Mm yeah,
- 52:45m hm mm hmmm. She's like, oh, yes, this has
- 52:51a lot of like she say wallpower or something like that. That the art
- 52:57had a lot of Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I love how she
- 53:00said it. But it was just so interesting to hear and what she saw
- 53:04in that painting. I was like, oh, that's really cool. I
- 53:06mean I don't have that kind of eye. I am not trained if I
- 53:10see a painting I love, you know, I'll take it where I wanted
- 53:15to go, you know what I mean. But like the technicalities of art
- 53:19history and meanings and things like that, I not trained. So it was
- 53:23nice to hear her. Yeah, I agree, I agree. It was
- 53:28nice to show like she was deep, deeper than maybe everybody was giving credit
- 53:34for. That's the point of that scene, I think. And they did
- 53:37it well, yes, they sure did. You know, somebody with a
- 53:40lot of wealth and they know their shit when it comes to like fancy expensive
- 53:46stuff, you know, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 53:53Well how many episodes are there? Six? Five or six? Good question?
- 53:59I think they're well, I know there's six True Detective, but six
- 54:07True and Detectives. I'm not sure. Okay, Well, don't forget True
