The Colorado Avalanche, still chasing their second Stanley Cup since 2022, have sacrificed future draft picks to bolster their present — and they’ve pulled off a major coup by signing 24-year-old NCAA standout T.J. Hughes. A key piece of their rebuilding puzzle, Hughes lit up the AHL playoffs with 14 points in 17 games and is now the only Avalanche player at the NHLPA Rookie Showcase.
