- 0:01Speaker 1: Taylors and drinks. Okay, it's not stolen yet. Okay, but
- 0:06the owner was found deceased. That's where we're at.
- 0:10Speaker 2: This is Taylor Alkins. Just two hours ago, Taylor's teacher,
- 0:15seventy two year old William Dubois, was discovered brutally beaten
- 0:19and deceased inside his home.
- 0:22Speaker 3: There they so.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Really what's interesting is that days later, Taylor would be
- 0:32found driving her now dead teacher's car.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Do you know why that's real's car? Because he's dead.
- 0:38I don't know.
- 0:39Speaker 5: He's been too dead, and you're driving the car.
- 0:44Speaker 4: I don't know that you didn't. Guys have do with it.
- 0:47Speaker 2: But what seemed like a straightforward case would turn out
- 0:50to be a complicated mess of neighborhood drama, secret affairs,
- 0:55and deadly conflicts.
- 0:57Speaker 6: I was mad and that's sound call voice on the
- 1:01other anybody did any There could be a burglary, could
- 1:07be somebody that he wronged, and they're coming back for victims.
- 1:10Speaker 4: You're a room co heartless murderer. This is not going
- 1:14to go away. This is not going to quit. You're
- 1:16going to keep having your little mountain bears that you have.
- 1:18I hope you do for the rest of your mind.
- 1:25Speaker 2: On July eleventh, twenty nineteen, officers in Fort Smith, Arkansas,
- 1:30received a call from a neighbor requesting a welfare check
- 1:33at the home of seventy two year old William Dubois Junior.
- 1:37The neighbor had grown increasingly worried when he heard an
- 1:41unusual noise coming from William's home a few days earlier,
- 1:44and had seen no sign of him since. Officers were
- 1:48quickly dispatched to investigate further.
- 1:53Speaker 7: Hello, are you good, Kim.
- 1:56Speaker 2: This is Denton Stringer, the neighbor who called nine one
- 1:59one to request a welfare check. If you would soon
- 2:02prove to be more involved in this case than just
- 2:05being a neighbor.
- 2:06Speaker 8: He's not answered, but sound like do you have a car?
- 2:16Speaker 3: Yeah? Car?
- 2:17Speaker 7: Where's his car?
- 2:18Speaker 3: His car has been comforted three days.
- 2:21Speaker 9: Maybe he's gone.
- 2:23Speaker 7: Okay, Okay, you know what position in the bedroom is.
- 2:30Speaker 8: At Okay, I'll come back and talk to you in
- 2:34just a second.
- 2:35Speaker 7: Okay.
- 2:36Speaker 2: The officer believes William might just have left, that is,
- 2:39until she discovers a disturbing odor coming from inside the house.
- 2:46Speaker 3: M one station.
- 2:49Speaker 7: Can we have an operator meet me on three place?
- 2:51Speaker 2: Due to the unusual situation. Officer Hendrix calls for a
- 2:54backup officer, who arrived quickly and would be briefed on
- 2:58the discoveries.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I have one, he said, two nights ago, he heard
- 3:01a really loud boom. There's an odd smell when I
- 3:04opened the door. No flies up here. When A rounded
- 3:07the corner. You only get it every now and then
- 3:10my team around the corner. That's when I really.
- 3:13Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm getting it right here. I know that smell.
- 3:18Speaker 2: That odor could have been coming from the trash can,
- 3:21but Officer Hendrix was convinced it was coming from inside
- 3:25the house. The officers needed to get in. However, a
- 3:28strange odor alone was not enough to obtain a search warrant,
- 3:32so Officer Hendrix decided to ask around the neighborhood. She
- 3:36would soon discover that Denton Stringer had done some suspicious
- 3:39things since William's disappearance. But before we get to that,
- 3:43situations like these can be especially traumatizing for those working

- 4:52Officer Hendrix didn't waste any time, and decided to head
- 4:56to the store directly across from William's house to see
- 4:58if anyone had seen or heard it. Anything that's hot.
- 5:01Speaker 8: So okay, So the neighbor over there, so I said that,
- 5:04and that man sometimes comes everyone talks with you because
- 5:07he saw him or his car. I'm not talking about it,
- 5:11probably days, but that's what he's saying.
- 5:14Speaker 10: And the last time that I know's okay there the
- 5:18next week when I grew weav's problems. It's not necessarily
- 5:22they five the bills also been really great.
- 5:24Speaker 7: Right, watch, Okay, the guy in the neighbor, there's some
- 5:29there's some Can he come over here.
- 5:34Speaker 11: And listen what I call a police on the other
- 5:36shot because of the women out there five and everything
- 5:38screaming from the kids.
- 5:39Speaker 7: So on his side, I guess.
- 5:42Speaker 3: So I've said if anybody did anything, it would be
- 5:44then let me.
- 5:45Speaker 7: That's easy.
- 5:47Speaker 12: She didn't say that, but because it's just odd that
- 5:50they come over here, and then he's turn to feel.
- 5:52Speaker 7: Like this check her in this one. Yeah, he said
- 5:56he said his daughter stole.
- 5:58Speaker 9: His Hey, he was a teacher at my junior high.
- 6:06So these people over here are saying that the guy
- 6:10nex store is like always has some type of drama
- 6:16going on, or him and whoever are always fighting.
- 6:19Speaker 7: Not him and Bill, but him and someone else.
- 6:23Speaker 1: I mean, worst case scenario is somebody's done something bad
- 6:26and took his car.
- 6:28Speaker 2: What the shop owner just revealed is very significant. Firstly, William,
- 6:33who is known around the neighborhood by Bill, hasn't been
- 6:36seen for the past two to three days, which is
- 6:39highly unusual according to the shop owner. Secondly, William's neighbor,
- 6:44Denton Stringer, is known to have frequent drama at his
- 6:47house involving various women. Recently, Denton had asked the shop
- 6:52owner to call William to check on him, explaining that
- 6:55his daughter had stolen his phone. If true, this daughter
- 7:00might be the same woman Denton argues with often, and
- 7:03if she took his phone, there is a possibility she
- 7:06could also be linked to William's car missing. Finally, the
- 7:10shop owner claims that if something bad happened to William,
- 7:13it would be them, suggesting that Denton and the daughter
- 7:17were likely involved. All of this casts suspicion on both
- 7:23Denton and his daughter. Officers hope that whatever they find
- 7:26inside William's house might reveal just how involved they were
- 7:30in his disappearance. With all of this in her head,
- 7:34Officer Hendrix returns to William's house, where officers had managed
- 7:38to contact the landlord for an additional key. Nothing could
- 7:42have prepared them for the horrifying scene they would discover inside.
- 7:57Speaker 7: Really years what it is.
- 8:05Speaker 2: As officers enter the house, they find William's lifeless body
- 8:09in the bathroom. It soon becomes clear that this was
- 8:13no natural passing.
- 8:16Speaker 7: Is that spatter on the door?
- 8:19Speaker 1: Is that spatter on the Oh wow, his door was locked.
- 8:28Speaker 7: There's no folly.
- 8:32Speaker 2: What the officers had discovered was nothing short of horrific,
- 8:35but the attacker had left a lot of clues, meaning
- 8:38police could piece together a story. For starters, the body
- 8:44had a strong rotten smell, indicating that William had likely
- 8:49been dead for over twenty four hours. Throughout the house,
- 8:52shelves and drawers had been left open, with numerous valuables missing.
- 8:57This initially led investigators to believe it was a robbery. However,
- 9:01this is where they discovered something very curious. The front
- 9:05door had been locked from the outside and there were
- 9:08no signs of forced entry. Officers realized that a scenario
- 9:12like this couldn't be possible unless William's attacker somehow had
- 9:17a key to his house. In other words, whoever did
- 9:21this to William must have a closer connection to him
- 9:23than a random burglar. This made the shop owner's earlier
- 9:28comments even more interesting to police. They had mentioned that
- 9:31if anything happened to William, it would probably be Denton
- 9:34and his so called daughter, both of whom were close
- 9:37enough to William to have been given a spare key.
- 9:40So with no better leads, Denton quickly became the main
- 9:44focus of the investigation, and police began to wonder if
- 9:47he was simply a concerned neighbor or if he knew
- 9:50far more about William's death than he was letting on.
- 9:54Speaker 1: I didn't even notice the TV's missing too. TV's missing,
- 9:57no wallet, no phone, no fourth century.
- 10:02Speaker 7: I think we need the cop to this guy. He
- 10:07just got here, Oh, I told Jeff. Yeah, they I
- 10:11talked with them over there.
- 10:12Speaker 1: They said he comes over a lot and talks was
- 10:15on and they said if anything ever happened to him,
- 10:17it would be because of somebody of this department.
- 10:21Speaker 7: He noticed that there's some red fuzz all over the place.
- 10:24I'm not sure what came from.
- 10:27Speaker 1: But all the doors in his bedroom are open, keys, wallet, phone,
- 10:35stuff that normally would be.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Laying out what kind of.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Car red Ford Focus? We have the tag and everything,
- 10:43and corney just sent out bolo. Did not release any information.
- 10:46She said, just stop this vehicle, notify our department.
- 10:49Speaker 2: To find answers. The cops needed to locate that red
- 10:53Ford Focus, which was now on the radar of the
- 10:55entire Fort Smith Police department. Whoever had possession of William's
- 10:59vehicle could undoubtedly help solve this case, but the officers
- 11:03had no idea where to start looking until William's son
- 11:06arrived at the scene, providing them with a major breakthrough.
- 11:12Speaker 7: That's a sun. That's a sun.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Bringing out.
- 11:21Speaker 13: Black box in the.
- 11:27Speaker 2: The According to the Sun, William had a GPS tracking
- 11:40device installed in his car, and the car is actually
- 11:43owned by William's wife, Susan, who has access to a
- 11:46mobile app that could track his location. The cops now
- 11:50know this tracking device is their only key to crack
- 11:53the case wide open and catch the killer. So with
- 11:57this in mind, officers would quickly redirects their attention to
- 12:01Susan's home, but unfortunately, they'd also have the difficult task
- 12:05of informing Susan that her husband passed away.
- 12:28Speaker 1: I'm as Susan, I'm off, sir Hendrix. I'm sorry meeting
- 12:32you under these circumstances.
- 12:46Speaker 7: It might it might be better on your legs. Just
- 12:49experience with experiences.
- 12:52Speaker 11: Every complete investigation, top to bottom, because we don't want
- 12:56to leave any stone unturned with that makes sense?
- 13:00Speaker 3: Okay?
- 13:01Speaker 11: What and we're not saying this is a homicide at
- 13:05this point. Okay, we had a heart strokes and he
- 13:09could have failed and his head, but there's some blood
- 13:11there that we're concerned about.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Does that make sense? Failing?
- 13:14Speaker 11: Okay, so strange Saturday. Here's our biggest issue. He wasn't
- 13:19trying to show it. Okay, here's our big right now.
- 13:22Is the core is missing?
- 13:24Speaker 3: Oh no, yes, where's your track or you have a
- 13:27tracker on her? Yes?
- 13:29Speaker 7: Her phone right here, right here?
- 13:31Speaker 3: No, that's true, in the little kitchen. Get her phone.
- 13:36If you can gotta get me a location.
- 13:38Speaker 7: On the call, it's gonna be tremendous.
- 13:42Speaker 14: It could be the fac.
- 13:54Speaker 3: Kelly.
- 13:57Speaker 7: Yeah, it's parked at a house.
- 14:04Speaker 3: And it's okay.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Thanks to Susan, the cops now know where the missing
- 14:18vehicle is without wasting any time. Officers quickly leave Susan's
- 14:23house and head towards the location of the car, but
- 14:25they have no idea who has it or what kind
- 14:28of danger they could be facing when they find it.
- 14:30After all, this is the stolen car of a murdered man.
- 14:37Speaker 7: Hello, y'all live here? Okay, you live here? Okay, we're
- 14:47looking out the wind. We got people looking up the windows.
- 14:49So you got an idea on you? I handle one.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Okay, let's go inside. Let's go inside. Let's go get
- 15:03your wallet. No, no, no, you can go. You can
- 15:06do whatever you gotta do. Oh hey, and time, we're
- 15:09gonna be parked there for a second.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Go where where?
- 15:14Speaker 1: Go inside with this? I mean she can Hey, time
- 15:18for me? Right here, we're gonna come. We're gonna go
- 15:20all go over here. Let's all go over here.
- 15:22Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 15:23Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Let's go over here. Yeah, yeah, something something's going on
- 15:30over there, and we'll explain with you.
- 15:32Speaker 2: It seems there's someone in this house who wants to
- 15:36avoid the cops, and these officers know they could be
- 15:40walking into an ambush. So everybody behind that door is
- 15:43a person of interest.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Okay, So basically, they came out the back. They tried
- 15:48to go out the back. Uh, they said they were
- 15:50going outside of smoke. Somebody just shut the front door
- 15:51on me. So, hey, come out with your hands up.
- 15:58Speaker 7: We know you're in here. Come out. Ward's myth, Police department,
- 16:03go ahead, a whole traffic.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Hell's hey, hey.
- 16:10Speaker 9: Come out, come out.
- 16:12Speaker 7: Okay, okay, just come out on the side of the house.
- 16:15Who else is here?
- 16:15Speaker 3: It's an investigation.
- 16:17Speaker 1: We're gonna explain that. We're gonna explain that. Who he'll
- 16:20just walk out to that side of the house for me.
- 16:22Who else is in here? Does anybody else in here?
- 16:25Just walk out here right here to the right. Thank you, Taylor. Okay,
- 16:31that's Taylor. Who else is in here?
- 16:35Speaker 7: Go ahead and step out? No, go ahead, wordsmith.
- 16:40Speaker 15: Police is your lifetime to come out? Really, come out
- 16:44with your hands up. Keep your hands in the air,
- 16:46work and see them. Keep your hands in the air,
- 16:47right and see you keep walking, keep walking, walk toward me.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Okay, Randall, go ahead, step off that porch into your
- 16:57right on the side of the house.
- 16:58Speaker 7: Okay, who who else is back here? Be real with me.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Officers would go on to conduct a room by room
- 17:09sweep of the house and confirm it was empty, before
- 17:12returning outside to face a different challenge. A handful of
- 17:15detained suspects with potential ties to William's missing car. Among
- 17:20the small group, officers noted a mix of faces, some nervous,
- 17:25some indifferent, but it wasn't immediately clear who knew what
- 17:28until the question of the red car came up.
- 17:31Speaker 7: All these subjects were inside the house.
- 17:34Speaker 1: When asked any of them, who's his red car, they
- 17:37all pointed to Taylor Elkins.
- 17:39Speaker 2: The moment officer Shelby asked who owned the red Ford
- 17:42parked out front, everyone pointed, without hesitation, at the same person,
- 17:48Taylor Elkins, the first woman who exited the house earlier
- 17:52when police barged inside. Having possession of a man's car
- 17:56who had just turned up dead is naturally going to
- 17:59raise suspense, and surprisingly, Taylor herself would go on to
- 18:03admit that indeed the car belongs to her.
- 18:07Speaker 3: Here's you, one of the females that we got out
- 18:10of here. Uh when I said there's this car.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Blocking With this revelation, the focus was pinned directly on Taylor,
- 18:25and it was time for her to explain how she
- 18:27ended up in the possession of a dead man's car.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Taylor astart and drinks. Obviously did he read you your
- 18:38Marina rides? He did, like your rights, your rights to
- 18:41an attorney, everything like that. Okay, where'd you get the car?
- 18:48Speaker 7: Okay, it's just a friend witer black, I think.
- 18:57Speaker 16: No, I didn't say it was okay. I don't know
- 19:01how he got it though. Okay, I was like, dude,
- 19:04you got your phone on you? Whe's your phone out
- 19:07in there?
- 19:09Speaker 3: Come on?
- 19:16Speaker 1: So you got it from Sean the first entrance off
- 19:18of Albert Pike to kit to forty one.
- 19:22Speaker 16: Well, he's as well, Okay.
- 19:29Speaker 7: Do you give him any money for it?
- 19:30Speaker 17: Or no?
- 19:30Speaker 7: You like me like that? What's his friends? What's his
- 19:32name on Facebook?
- 19:35Speaker 3: Sean? I don't know. I don't know.
- 19:37Speaker 7: I don't have a phone. I don't get on Facebook.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Despite Taylor's vague recollection of how she came in possession
- 19:45of William's car, officers managed to get a name from
- 19:48her Sean, who is a friend of Taylor that she
- 19:51borrowed the car from, or at least that's what she claims.
- 19:55If her story is not a complete fabrication, then whoever
- 19:57Sean is could be the key to solving the case. However,
- 20:02it's at this time that officers realized they didn't know
- 20:06nearly enough about Taylor, her background, her relationships, and whether
- 20:10she might be tied to Denton Stringer, the neighbor who
- 20:12was already under suspicion. So over the next few minutes,
- 20:16we will follow these officers in real time as they
- 20:19connect the dots and discover critical information in one of
- 20:22the best detective works we have ever covered.
- 20:26Speaker 12: Hi, I arrested her two weeks ago because or Elkins. Huh,
- 20:36I think that's a bit more baby daddy to her
- 20:38or something like that. She's got two kids. Hey, Jacob,
- 20:44come here, that's Taylor's grandparents' house.
- 20:48Speaker 3: That's That's what I said.
- 20:49Speaker 12: Andres are familiar and didn't want to hurt she coming
- 20:51out here so I can know this Jack, Hey, are
- 20:53they homosad or so?
- 20:56Speaker 3: Today? Really? Where's she at? Taylor? Sher?
- 21:02Speaker 18: You know that's her grandparents house, right, the South Greenwood
- 21:06address is her grandparents house.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Her.
- 21:10Speaker 18: Yeah, I swear to you, she's bonded out to that
- 21:12address out of Crofford County. Shes got like ten Fellon's spending.
- 21:16Speaker 3: I swear to you.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Is it the officer just made a crucial connection. Taylor's
- 21:21last known address given to police during her previous arrest
- 21:25was her grandparents' house and the same duplex that William
- 21:30lived in.
- 21:31Speaker 7: Shut up, did you tell Shelby? I said, I think
- 21:36that's yeah, eighteen hundred South Greenwood. Hey sorry sorry, sorry.
- 21:49Speaker 4: Give me.
- 21:53Speaker 7: Her address is the neighbor's address. Her address is the
- 21:57neighbor's eighteen years what is her?
- 22:00Speaker 3: That's what? That's what.
- 22:02Speaker 18: That's her grandfather's house.
- 22:03Speaker 7: And she's bond eighteen is all in icis about it.
- 22:08Speaker 18: I think we think she's bonded out there because I
- 22:11rested two weeks ago and then like a week after
- 22:13her addresses the.
- 22:14Speaker 7: Eighteen hundred South Greenwich she spent got domestic assault. The
- 22:17guy that called it in, Wow, that's his eighteen hundred.
- 22:21Because our guys as eighteen.
- 22:24Speaker 2: The officers figured it out the two prime suspects were related.
- 22:29Taylor was Denton's granddaughter and likely the daughter the woman
- 22:34in the shop had found suspicious earlier. But what these
- 22:37officers are about to discover next would put the spotlight
- 22:41solely on Taylor.
- 22:43Speaker 7: Mauman has her on camera leaving on the eighth in
- 22:46the car La Madres eight.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Yeah, so three days, about three days, yeah, Monday night, Yeah,
- 22:57the D the D Compact.
- 22:59Speaker 7: It's about two.
- 23:01Speaker 2: With this final piece of evidence, it is safe to
- 23:03conclude that Taylor Elkins has a major role in William's death,
- 23:07and detectives needed to get to the bottom of her involvement.
- 23:12The other detained individuals were briefly questioned, but no one
- 23:16had direct ties to William or knew anything about the
- 23:19stolen vehicle, so with no solid evidence against them, they
- 23:23were released. With the Onseen investigation at its end, the
- 23:27next move was obvious, taking Taylor in for a formal interrogation.
- 23:35A few hours later. Taylor is placed inside an interrogation
- 23:38room and left by herself for the next ten minutes,
- 23:41giving her enough time to come up with a plausible
- 23:43alibi to go with. What Taylor doesn't realize is that
- 23:47when the detective walks in, he has information that will
- 23:50completely disprove every excuse she has.
- 23:55Speaker 4: Hello, how are you good?
- 23:59Speaker 19: Bit better?
- 24:01Speaker 4: All right, Taylor? So you know why you're down here? Yeah? Yeah,
- 24:07Well why are you down here?
- 24:09Speaker 19: I'm in the car stolen. I don't know I had it, well,
- 24:13I didn't have it in my cousin. Well, I don't
- 24:16know how to say. It wasn't in my property. I didn't,
- 24:19I wasn't in the bar or nothing like that. But
- 24:21it was stollen and everybody wanted a fared at me.
- 24:25And I mean I've been driving it.
- 24:27Speaker 4: So yeah, okay, And where did you get it from?
- 24:30Speaker 19: This name Sean, I don't know him last name or really, I.
- 24:34Speaker 4: Don't know last thing I was.
- 24:35Speaker 19: I say hey to him. Basically, he's just a friend,
- 24:40like he does drugs you and so funny you don't.
- 24:44I don't know.
- 24:44Speaker 4: Everybody you've been you've been arrested lately. What's what's left
- 24:49to be arrested?
- 24:50Speaker 2: Uh?
- 24:51Speaker 4: Last week?
- 24:52Speaker 19: Definitely, I got my kids saying him it was Miller
- 24:54and this other guy.
- 24:55Speaker 4: And when you when you bonded it down one? Okay,
- 24:59what addressed did you? It's sure.
- 25:10Speaker 19: I'm bought it out too, Okay, Yeah, I'm.
- 25:12Speaker 4: Being bond you out No.
- 25:15Speaker 3: No.
- 25:17Speaker 4: Eight again?
- 25:20Speaker 3: At Okay?
- 25:22Speaker 4: Which last time part of that? You were there two
- 25:25days ago?
- 25:28Speaker 19: I am born out of that is chilled.
- 25:31Speaker 2: In just a few minutes, this detective was able to
- 25:34make Taylor confirm most of the evidence connecting her to
- 25:37the crime in her own words. Taylor admitted that Denton
- 25:41Stringer is indeed her grandfather. She had William's car for
- 25:44a few days, and most importantly, she was at Denton's
- 25:48house the same period when William was killed. But this
- 25:52detective was just getting started and he's about to make
- 25:55Taylor dig her own grave.
- 25:57Speaker 4: So what about the gal of the door?
- 25:59Speaker 18: For you know him?
- 26:00Speaker 4: Who's that?
- 26:00Speaker 19: He names Bill?
- 26:01Speaker 4: Bill? I don't know.
- 26:03Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 26:04Speaker 19: I don't know. People's that name?
- 26:06Speaker 16: Yeah?
- 26:07Speaker 20: He Bil?
- 26:08Speaker 4: Oh was that time seeing Bill?
- 26:11Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 26:13Speaker 4: I don't know. He works to him? There? So this
- 26:16car you've been riding around in? Whose car is it?
- 26:19I don't know. You have seen that car?
- 26:21Speaker 19: I've seen it?
- 26:22Speaker 4: Where there where? Oh? Where Taylor, we're.
- 26:31Speaker 19: Taer there's a car?
- 26:40Speaker 18: Kay?
- 26:44Speaker 7: Wow?
- 26:46Speaker 4: Thank you kind knew that.
- 26:48Speaker 19: No, I didn't, I really got in.
- 26:50Speaker 4: Thank you? I didn't. I think you did. I think
- 26:54I think you know Bill?
- 26:56Speaker 1: I know Bill?
- 26:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I would you know? I don't know who's last
- 27:00have you seen?
- 27:03Speaker 1: Oh?
- 27:03Speaker 19: I should like coming in? I don't know.
- 27:06Speaker 4: I don't pay attention. Really, you haven't got all the
- 27:13defense of all of a sudden, I'm just gonna before
- 27:18I I want to make sure that we're understanding of
- 27:24each other.
- 27:26Speaker 19: Okay, I really I don't like, I like pay attention,
- 27:33do the thing.
- 27:35Speaker 4: Okay, Okay, I'm just trying to figure out if you're
- 27:43being honest with you and actually.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Taylor is trapped. She just implicated herself further by admitting
- 27:52that she knows William and to her surprise, was driving
- 27:56his very car. After this brilliant line of questioning, the
- 28:01detective tells Taylor to sit tight and leaves the room.
- 28:04During this time, he would make a phone call to
- 28:06Taylor's grandfather, Denton Stringer, and Denton would tell him that
- 28:10Taylor was at his house a few days ago along
- 28:13with two white males. With this information at hand, the
- 28:17detective comes back to the interrogation room with one goal
- 28:21make Taylor confess to whatever she did inside William's home.
- 28:27Speaker 4: Tech MA, Hi, you and me both, girl, I'm old,
- 28:35So let me ask you something. Do you have a phone?
- 28:42You don't have home? Okay, Tayler, you you went to
- 28:58your dad's today? Were there earlier this week? I come
- 29:01on to your Tuesday. Let me rephrase that you were
- 29:05there earlier this week and you had two white males
- 29:07with you? Who's those two white guys.
- 29:09Speaker 10: That are with you?
- 29:11Speaker 21: Because I've already talked I've already talked to your grandpa, okay,
- 29:16and right there side your grandpa's at school. That school's
- 29:20got video and it shows you're showing up with two
- 29:21white males. So I'm just kind of curious where those
- 29:23two white males on them?
- 29:32Speaker 4: You know, so you don't think that males.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Car I mean, even when directly confronted with undeniable facts,
- 29:42Taylor continues to play dumb, even making a mockery of
- 29:45the entire situation. So in order to make it clear
- 29:49to Taylor that this is a serious situation, the detective
- 29:52would reveal the true reason she's in the interrogation room
- 29:55because she is a murder suspect.
- 29:59Speaker 4: You know what. That's Bill's car because he's dead. They
- 30:04beat him to death, and you're driving the car from
- 30:08a man who's been beat to death.
- 30:11Speaker 22: I don't know that you ain't got something to do
- 30:12with it. And you want to play tough girl with me,
- 30:15and let me tell you this is not gonna work
- 30:17out for you.
- 30:17Speaker 4: Real good. He's been beat too, dead, he taking mine?
- 30:24You think, why the hell do you think I'm here?
- 30:26You know why I'm here. Do you know what my
- 30:28title is? Homitize? Hey, it's got real. You're talking about
- 30:35losing your girls, They're losing for a lifetime. You know
- 30:39what you're You're knee deep in this ship right now.
- 30:44You better start coming clean with.
- 30:47Speaker 12: Just letting you know.
- 30:48Speaker 4: Here's here's where we're at, Taylor. I'm gonna be honest
- 30:50with you.
- 30:51Speaker 22: This can know either really good for Taylor or this
- 30:54can go really bad for Tator. Because I can promise
- 30:56you I'm really good at.
- 30:57Speaker 1: What I do.
- 30:57Speaker 4: If I can catch you and lie, and if you
- 30:59lie to me, I will I will put you in
- 31:02prison for the rest of your little life.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Just know that now that Taylor understands the severity of
- 31:09everything and is deeply emotional, the detective will seize the
- 31:13moment to confront her by exploiting her vulnerable state in
- 31:17hopes that the emotional pressure will break her defenses and
- 31:21compel her to finally tell the truth.
- 31:24Speaker 22: I'm not threatening you, I'm promising you.
- 31:29Speaker 4: So did you give a damn about Biel? If you
- 31:34didn't killing, if you didn't be the hell out of
- 31:37that old man. You're driving a car that was taken
- 31:41after the meeting you entered, come up with who had
- 31:44his damn car? Or who you took over there with
- 31:46you that seeing him and went back in targets at him.
- 31:50Listen to me, here's you might start coming up with
- 31:54some bull names because you know what, who do you
- 31:56need to think of right now? Who's the most important
- 31:58person in your life? Right now?
- 32:01Speaker 3: You?
- 32:01Speaker 4: You your babies, and you better take care of them.
- 32:04Speaker 5: I tell you you better think hard, because I got
- 32:10all night. Hell, I get paid about an hour. I'll
- 32:13stay here all weekend. You're riding around the dead man's car.
- 32:17Speaker 19: You're dead, telling her dead?
- 32:19Speaker 4: But you know the people who probably killed him? He
- 32:22told you I got the cups sean who in the
- 32:26apartment that.
- 32:26Speaker 5: You pointed out the guy that old man died and
- 32:30that had an heart attack and died in one last week,
- 32:32and the other ones got an old woman that lives in.
- 32:35Speaker 3: That's fun.
- 32:38Speaker 4: I'm just I'm giving you an opportunity right now.
- 32:40Speaker 19: Oh man, I'm.
- 32:41Speaker 4: Telling you, Okay, tell me, I told you.
- 32:44Speaker 19: I'm telling you, like bros.
- 32:47Speaker 4: If you had to get shown right now, where would
- 32:50you go get him at? It's one apartment number, it's
- 32:56a corner. If there's four or five, six, seven, It's
- 32:59either five.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Now it seems like Taylor has a story to prove
- 33:04her alibi. Taylor claims that William's car belongs to a
- 33:07man named Sean, who she borrowed the car from recently.
- 33:10If what she's saying is true, then Sean could very
- 33:14well be the perpetrator of this evil crime. However, Taylor
- 33:17would also proceed to point more accusations towards Sean, telling
- 33:21the detective that he assaulted her, ruined her life, and
- 33:24took her kids away. This means that Taylor was likely
- 33:28involved in a relationship with Sean for a good amount
- 33:31of time. But what's strange about this entire story is
- 33:35that every time the detective asks Taylor for personal information
- 33:38about this Sean guy, she dodges the questions and refuses
- 33:43to give any information away. So, with Taylor seemingly uncooperative,
- 33:48the detective would end this interview to get to the
- 33:51bottom of her claims and figure out who Sean really is,
- 33:55and what they discovered would put Taylor in an even
- 33:59worse city situation.
- 34:03Speaker 4: He's been thinking about anything have non issue, So this
- 34:16is the guy you're saying to get a car from
- 34:19for you sure Jason jail, hopefully he's been in jail
- 34:27since June sixth.
- 34:30Speaker 23: Mm hmm.
- 34:32Speaker 4: Do you think I'm bringing this up?
- 34:34Speaker 3: No?
- 34:36Speaker 4: So if he's in jail, had to give you a car?
- 34:42Speaker 19: M hm.
- 34:48Speaker 4: Ver we think this thiner that's looking like you kill me?
- 34:52Speaker 3: No?
- 34:52Speaker 19: Yeah, I don't know.
- 34:54Speaker 4: You think it's funny that wasn't me? Would you better
- 34:56figure it out then? Because you just lied.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Sean giving her the car was a completely fabricated story,
- 35:06and the detective just proved it. So with this major
- 35:10lie exposed, Taylor has taken away to sleep in jail
- 35:14while detectives work on finding more incriminating evidence against her.
- 35:19The next day, Taylor is brought back into the interrogation
- 35:22room in an orange jumpsuit. This time, the detective has
- 35:26prepared undeniable evidence to thoroughly debunk her entire alibi and
- 35:31make her confess.
- 35:41Speaker 4: You don't know what happened to.
- 35:51Speaker 24: You believe he's dead. Now do you still think this
- 35:58is all Joe? You won't sleep, That's what want you.
- 36:07There's only one way you're ever gonna get any relief. Well,
- 36:11you're gonna get any.
- 36:12Speaker 4: Closure, and you're gonna have to tell us the truth
- 36:14of everything you know. And you haven't done it yet.
- 36:16This will be the hardest thing for you to do,
- 36:19but it's the only way you're gonna get any peace ever.
- 36:22At a minimum, if you didn't do it, you know
- 36:27who did? Are you scared of the person who's involved
- 36:30in this?
- 36:35Speaker 19: You really do get people.
- 36:40Speaker 4: Have got an your face. I had to threaten you.
- 36:43I'll let you know what's fixing to happen to you.
- 36:48Speaker 19: If you don't believe any you don't believe.
- 36:51Speaker 25: I don't believe liars, okay, and you're a damn liar. Well,
- 36:57you need to be helping us. If you even cared
- 36:59about old man that's been beat today at a shot,
- 37:02you need to be helping us.
- 37:05Speaker 4: You don't think he was shot?
- 37:07Speaker 16: Is he?
- 37:10Speaker 4: You don't see that? You'll see again? Get a better
- 37:12right out. I want you to remember that picture every
- 37:15time you're last eight.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Elkins's body language has shifted from cocky and playful to
- 37:23scared and confused and just about everything else in between.
- 37:26Her behavior would change again after she's allowed to make
- 37:29a phone call to her mother, where she'd stop pleading
- 37:32innocence and start playing the victim. She's now going to
- 37:35paint a picture of a man named Joseph Rogers, better
- 37:38known as Joe. That will make him out to be
- 37:41the bad guy.
- 37:42Speaker 4: So we'll let you talk to your mom. Now what
- 37:46I would like to ask you. I'm sure he tell
- 37:49us the truth. That's true. I mean, I told you
- 37:53all the truth today, but I tell you all of it.
- 37:57Awesome the game. What happened and exactly troops away happened
- 38:00to that?
- 38:02Speaker 10: I said, Joe came over with that that and he
- 38:08asked me why out in the house and that someone
- 38:10that he didn't have ship. He's like, well, you knock
- 38:13on the door, and knock on the door.
- 38:15Speaker 4: And then he went in.
- 38:16Speaker 8: I went.
- 38:16Speaker 4: That's when I went to McDonald's. So I came back.
- 38:19He so he took care of it.
- 38:21Speaker 19: Killed the Why didn't nothing like that?
- 38:24Speaker 4: When he said he took care of it. He told
- 38:27me that I to casino because I asked.
- 38:29Speaker 19: I asked what happened?
- 38:31Speaker 4: Because I had a little cardon and so I'm scared.
- 38:33I didn would have be went there nothing. I didn't
- 38:35know what happened, and I.
- 38:37Speaker 19: Just I could ask him what happened, what happened?
- 38:40Speaker 21: What happened?
- 38:41Speaker 4: He kept telling me.
- 38:42Speaker 19: Then he took care of it.
- 38:43Speaker 4: Then it's okay that he.
- 38:46Speaker 19: Finished the ball ball theres nothing would come about it.
- 38:49And he's just he just kept telling you and he's
- 38:52like you get rid of the TVs.
- 38:54Speaker 4: Blah blah blah. He's like, I'm not touching him.
- 38:58Speaker 19: And that's why I had Pete Pondalds like I didn't know.
- 39:00Speaker 10: If I knew all that, I wanted to get card
- 39:03believe my name, if I knew he was Dan dead
- 39:05like that.
- 39:06Speaker 4: Where you like.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Elkins has implicated Joe by claiming he'd taken care of
- 39:14William while he was robbing him of his belongings. She
- 39:17also claims he's behind the whole thing and she was
- 39:20too terrified to stop him. If this wasn't the third
- 39:23story she'd came up with, the detectives may have believed her,
- 39:26But what Elkins doesn't realize is that the detectives have
- 39:30potential evidence that will place her at the scene of
- 39:33the crime and prove she's been lying all along. He was.
- 39:37Speaker 23: One thing that is concerning is the fact that Bill
- 39:42does have hair in his hand. Okay, and we had
- 39:47a detective down there. Darren his all tossing states that
- 39:53the hair is the same color as yours, and Joe doesn't.
- 39:58Speaker 4: Have any hair. Where would that come from?
- 40:02Speaker 11: M hm?
- 40:20Speaker 4: Did you ever see Bill after mc donald's.
- 40:25Speaker 2: If that lock of hair they found on William's body
- 40:27belongs to Elkins, then her stories will mean nothing, as
- 40:32the physical evidence will do the talking for her. But
- 40:37right now that's not the only thing she has to
- 40:39worry about, as detectives have even more evidence that proves
- 40:43her whole story has been a lie from the very beginning,
- 40:47and it's all thanks to the GPS tracker William's wife
- 40:50installed in his car. That GPS tracker would also help
- 40:55detectives to map everywhere she had been from the very
- 40:58moment she stepped in the car and then use the
- 41:00CCTV to determine who was inside the vehicle.
- 41:04Speaker 4: I know you don't have me. I'm sorry, he's got
- 41:06a job to do. I hope you understand that. Let
- 41:08me show you no picture. Who's that?
- 41:13Speaker 14: Who?
- 41:14Speaker 8: Well?
- 41:14Speaker 17: There he is in a car with you and Bill's car.
- 41:19Is Joe want killed him? Joe was with you when
- 41:21you left the house and when you went to the
- 41:24casino to Joe kill him. You're here's your opportunity we
- 41:29got the evidence. There's a tracker on the car. We
- 41:34take it straight from when you left there. You go
- 41:36to Kavanall, you go to the casino.
- 41:39Speaker 4: So you need to get get this. It's real, real
- 41:41for you, real quick. So you need to think about
- 41:43this because we're peasing to take this to the prosecutor
- 41:46to get a warrant feed for murder.
- 41:48Speaker 25: So you better start thinking if you want to take
- 41:50the rap or you want to be honest, because we're
- 41:52we're running out of town.
- 41:53Speaker 4: No you ain't, No, you ain't. I just showed you.
- 41:56I didn't tell you what, but I think you know. Okay,
- 42:03so you come up and tell me right now that
- 42:06you're protecting him. You'll be charging I'm protecting him. You
- 42:09know what happened.
- 42:10Speaker 19: So people just come up to tell you. I'll talk
- 42:12how that people murder.
- 42:13Speaker 4: Somebody knows your laugh. I'll be back that murder work.
- 42:20Speaker 2: Taylor's arrogance with the entire situation has seemed to finally
- 42:25have caught up to her, and her extreme stubbornness has
- 42:28left the detectives with no choice other than to resort
- 42:31to other methods of incriminating suspects, such as DNA samples,
- 42:36hair samples, and last, but not least, the polygraph. The
- 42:41polygraph test was done off camera. However, the polygraph examiner
- 42:45would have some harsh words for Taylor after the test
- 42:48had concluded.
- 43:00Speaker 4: Deception means that you're trying to deceive if you're not
- 43:02being truthful. Am. I brought this in here to show you.
- 43:12Speaker 20: You see that question that says R five M and
- 43:16the big spike on it, that's where you were telling
- 43:20us a lie. You were lying to me when I
- 43:22asked you in the test. Were you present when he
- 43:25was attacked? When I asked you, did you kill him?
- 43:34Speaker 4: Your reading is stronger.
- 43:35Speaker 6: Than that.
- 43:39Speaker 4: Because you're just you know, well, I really don't give
- 43:44a ship if you're in a room or I'm not
- 43:49a rude person. You're a rude, code, heartless murderer.
- 43:54Speaker 14: That's what you are.
- 43:56Speaker 4: If you look at you, you have no defense to yourself.
- 43:59So you kill the old wine. You're capable. Let you're
- 44:04right in the middle of all of it. And why
- 44:07you don't think you ain't told this? You may have
- 44:11everything the finger and everybody else.
- 44:14Speaker 15: Do you do?
- 44:17Speaker 4: This is not gonna go away, This is not gonna quit.
- 44:20You're gonna keep having your little mountain beers that you have,
- 44:23but I hope you do for the rest of your
- 44:24fucking life.
- 44:25Speaker 2: Taylor would never formally confess during the rest of the interrogation,
- 44:29continuing to point fingers, blame others, sometimes being completely imaginary people,
- 44:35and playing the victim. William de Boat Junior had suffered
- 44:39from twenty seven impact injuries and met a terrifying end
- 44:44the day of his death. The hair sample found in
- 44:49William's hand was eventually matched to the hair of Taylor's,
- 44:52adding one final cherry on top to help convict her.
- 44:56Detectives ultimately believed Elkins was responsible. Although she didn't confess
- 45:01to the cops, she allegedly made a confession during her incarceration.
- 45:06She also told another inmate that she went to William's
- 45:08house to borrow some money and had become angry when
- 45:11he didn't have any, so, out of both frustration and
- 45:14pure evil, she grabbed a hammer and beat the life
- 45:17out of William without any remorse. Taylor's grandfather, Denton Stringer,
- 45:24was initially investigated as a potential suspect, However, with no
- 45:28solid evidence connecting him to William's murder or Taylor's involvement
- 45:32authorities ruled him out. As for Joseph Rogers and Sean,
- 45:36they were both cleared of any involvement in William's death.
- 45:40The two had nothing to do with the crime whatsoever
- 45:43and were simply scapegoats for Taylor to point fingers at.
- 45:47As for Taylor, she was charged with first degree murder
- 45:50on October ninth, twenty nineteen, and in January twenty twenty,
