- 0:00Speaker 1: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:02Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Listener discretion is advised.
- 0:06Speaker 3: The world's original podcast.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota.com.
- 0:20Speaker 1: He's at urgent care right now getting checked. His buddy, Bart,
- 0:24Speaker 1: came down with a case of strep. Yeah.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Getting the test.
- 0:26Speaker 1: I'm surprised between the two of them it's not mono.
- 0:28Speaker 2: I know.
- 0:29Speaker 4: Swap and spit.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Yeah. I had mono. Kept Mike off of PP1. I
- 0:33Speaker 1: did lose about.
- 0:34Speaker 4: 15 pounds, though, so that was positive.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Okay. That was a positive.
- 0:38Speaker 5: Right.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Got my beach body back, so. Can you give us
- 0:41Speaker 1: some hole-in-the-wall recommendations for bars and restaurants around Boston? From
- 0:46Speaker 1: a fan standpoint, that game was riveting. It was back
- 0:49Speaker 1: and forth.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Who were you rooting for? The Patriots.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I guess I just don't learn much in those games.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I'm not there to learn. I just want to watch
- 0:55Speaker 1: my team win. Blowing out the other team is fun
- 0:58Speaker 1: to watch, too. Which would you rather have as a fan?
- 1:00Speaker 2: The struggle.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Why?
- 1:02Speaker 6: I don't learn anything in blowouts against these terrible teams.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Generally, blowouts happen against bad teams.
- 1:09Speaker 1: So when you go to the movies, you just go
- 1:10Speaker 1: to documentaries because you want to learn something?
- 1:13Speaker 6: He's so close to being Andy Hart, he can't even
- 1:16Speaker 6: see it.
- 1:16Speaker 2: This is Patriots Unfiltered. Presented by Toyota.com.
- 1:22Speaker 1: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:27Speaker 1: at Gillette Stadium. We picked up one from yesterday, but
- 1:30Speaker 1: we lost one too, so we're kind of like the
- 1:32Speaker 1: Patriots here in terms of the injuries. Paul is, what's
- 1:36Speaker 1: he got, like a golf bat.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Or something like that?
- 1:39Speaker 4: He's tied up with some stuff. He's got to drive
- 1:41Speaker 4: somebody to an appointment.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 1:43Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:43Speaker 2: We don't air public things.
- 1:46Speaker 1: We don't?
- 1:47Speaker 4: Because of HIPAA.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I thought that this show were an open book. Yeah,
- 1:51Speaker 1: I thought so, too. But as you can see, Evan's
- 1:53Speaker 1: back with his voice.
- 1:56Speaker 2: What's that?
- 1:56Speaker 1: What, Alex? Let's just chill with the public. Okay, all right.
- 2:02Speaker 1: But Evan is here. He's got not a fully clean
- 2:06Speaker 1: bowl of health, but it's just a common cold, right? Yes.
- 2:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Okay, all right.
- 2:11Speaker 7: I was like, please test me for literally everything. And
- 2:14Speaker 7: they were like, okay, calm down.
- 2:16Speaker 4: You got a bad case of ball.
- 2:17Speaker 3: No plague.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Yeah. No.
- 2:19Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 2:20Speaker 7: My worst nightmare is I don't care about you guys,
- 2:22Speaker 7: but if I got one of the players sick, I
- 2:24Speaker 7: would never like, you know, that would ruin it for me.
- 2:27Speaker 2: So I was in the, I like stayed like, uh,
- 2:30Speaker 2: far away yesterday.
- 2:31Speaker 4: It must have been hard when Will Campbell walked through.
- 2:33Speaker 4: I wanted to dap him up myself. I wanted to
- 2:35Speaker 4: hug him and be like, thank God, Will, you're okay.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Evan's here. I'm here. Deuce is here. Alex is here.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Matt's in the booth.
- 2:40Speaker 1: We got picks today. So who's handling the... Oh, I know.
- 2:43Speaker 2: That would be me. Was that you?
- 2:45Speaker 4: I have it right here.
- 2:46Speaker 1: All right. We'll save it. We'll save it for later
- 2:49Speaker 1: in the show when we have to hurry. But Deuce
- 2:53Speaker 1: will handle all the recording.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Of the tapes.
- 2:55Speaker 3: He told you how to write everything down.
- 2:57Speaker 5: I know.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Well, he does like, you know, Paul does like these
- 2:59Speaker 4: little line things.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Yeah, he makes it very even.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I'm sure the delivery will be very smooth. You'll have
- 3:04Speaker 1: it all under control.
- 3:05Speaker 4: I'm sure I won't at all.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Okay.
- 3:07Speaker 1: All right. Yeah, I just got an email from one
- 3:11Speaker 1: of our longtime listeners. And speaking of private lives, he
- 3:17Speaker 1: wants to make something public.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Sweet kid. from Tennessee.
- 3:21Speaker 1: There will soon be a Mrs. Sweet Kid coming. My
- 3:23Speaker 1: engagement was a success. I think everyone knows how much P.U.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Means to me.
- 3:27Speaker 1: So thank you to everyone that's been so supportive to us.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Special shout out to Kat in Chicago.
- 3:33Speaker 2: You are the best.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I guess they went to Chicago and got a tour
- 3:36Speaker 1: of her house and all that.
- 3:38Speaker 2: He's saying 24-13 Patriots in.
- 3:40Speaker 1: He sent us some pictures of the actual engagement and
- 3:44Speaker 1: of his new fiancée, and we'll have that in the
- 3:46Speaker 1: newsletter tomorrow.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Where did he do it?
- 3:49Speaker 1: I think it was in New Orleans.
- 3:50Speaker 3: It looked like in front of a fountain. Okay, yeah,
- 3:52Speaker 3: French quarter vibes.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Yeah, he said it was in New Orleans.
- 3:54Speaker 9: Fred just sent me the photos with no context, but
- 3:57Speaker 9: I recognized Melvin's face, so I put two and two together.
- 4:00Speaker 3: So if you could forward me the.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Rest of the email, that'd be great. I did send
- 4:04Speaker 1: you that, didn't I?
- 4:05Speaker 3: Just the pictures, though. I don't have any text.
- 4:08Speaker 1: We'll worry about it later. Is she a Patriots fan?
- 4:10Speaker 1: That's my question.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Well, she better be. She better be.
- 4:12Speaker 1: What's her fan allegiance? But he said, you know, he
- 4:14Speaker 1: wants her to, you know, he wants to introduce her
- 4:17Speaker 1: to his life, which we are part of.
- 4:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Wow.
- 4:21Speaker 4: She'll start listening to the podcast every day.
- 4:23Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I'll expect my invite to the wedding. So welcome, Lakeisha.
- 4:28Speaker 1: I need a reason to come to Nashville. So give
- 4:30Speaker 1: me an invite.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Oh, they got great barbecues. Oh, well, I've been there before.
- 4:34Speaker 1: You should go to the wedding.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Teams do that all the time. The Ravens schedule released
- 4:39Speaker 3: last year.
- 4:39Speaker 9: They sent their mascot and Zay Flowers to someone's wedding
- 4:42Speaker 9: who had sent them an invite.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Is that right?
- 4:44Speaker 4: We'll send Fred in his tuck. That would be perfect.
- 4:47Speaker 3: The draft date.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Hello.
- 4:50Speaker 2: It's not black tie.
- 4:51Speaker 1: What is he doing?
- 4:52Speaker 3: That's how Paul can maybe make some more money.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Appreciating weddings? No. Wedding appearances?
- 4:57Speaker 3: Weddings and stuff. For the diehard fans, like cameo, but
- 5:00Speaker 3: at another level.
- 5:01Speaker 2: He should have a cameo, yeah.
- 5:02Speaker 3: He should have a cameo.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I've officiated a wedding before.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Me too.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Really?
- 5:06Speaker 1: Yeah, my sister's wedding.
- 5:07Speaker 4: Do you have to get registered for that?
- 5:09Speaker 2: Yeah, just for the day.
- 5:10Speaker 1: On more dates. Yeah, it's like easy, right? Yeah, I mean,
- 5:12Speaker 1: technically she'd like.
- 5:14Speaker 3: It took like 20 minutes.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Technically, she was already married.
- 5:16Speaker 9: And then they send you a little certificate. Lovely process.
- 5:21Speaker 9: Very nerve-wracking. My mic broke mid-salon.
- 5:23Speaker 2: I wasn't really nervous. So you've done it too? Yeah,
- 5:26Speaker 2: I was really nervous.
- 5:27Speaker 7: But they didn't want it to be a religious wedding,
- 5:30Speaker 7: so they wanted to have a friend or a family
- 5:33Speaker 7: member do it instead.
- 5:34Speaker 1: They picked the biggest atheist they could find.
- 5:37Speaker 7: They were just like, you know, they were trying to
- 5:39Speaker 7: find a role for me, because me and my sister
- 5:41Speaker 7: are pretty close, and so they were trying to find
- 5:42Speaker 7: a role for me that was like, more than just, like,
- 5:44Speaker 7: a groomsman, but, like, I wasn't going to be, like,
- 5:47Speaker 7: you know, her maid of honor, because I'm not a gal.
- 5:49Speaker 4: I've been a man of honor in a wedding before.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:52Speaker 2: I can just see Evan up there. I can see that.
- 5:54Speaker 4: The best woman, too.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Analytics Evan gets up there, and before he does the
- 5:58Speaker 1: vows and all that, just, you know, 52% of weddings,
- 6:00Speaker 1: you know, marriages, and the divorce, but that rate, the
- 6:05Speaker 1: DVOA for that changes when.
- 6:07Speaker 2: It's, you know, like.
- 6:09Speaker 4: That would be good at Evan Angle to do it,
- 6:10Speaker 4: you know?
- 6:10Speaker 1: You might know. It was fun.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:12Speaker 11: I gave.
- 6:14Speaker 4: two wedding speeches and they were, they were really fun.
- 6:16Speaker 4: I was nervous, but it was cool. This is the
- 6:18Speaker 4: closest I'll ever get to doing standup comedy. I felt
- 6:20Speaker 4: like it was, and I think people were worried cause
- 6:22Speaker 4: I had like a whole printout and people were like,
- 6:24Speaker 4: Oh no, but it was, I think it was pretty funny.
- 6:26Speaker 1: My first one went better than my second one.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Now.
- 6:28Speaker 1: So is it, when you do those speeches, is it
- 6:31Speaker 1: required that it be funny or can it just be
- 6:33Speaker 1: like sweet?
- 6:35Speaker 4: Um, well I did one for my friend Ashley who
- 6:37Speaker 4: I was her man of honor. She was my best woman.
- 6:39Speaker 4: So that one was a little more funny and, I
- 6:42Speaker 4: think my sister's was a little more sweet because I
- 6:44Speaker 4: just told, actually, I told the story of Gino, her husband.
- 6:46Speaker 4: The first time I met him, we went to a
- 6:48Speaker 4: Chargers game in 2008 at the Chargers. Patriots got smoked.
- 6:53Speaker 4: And I was sitting in a good seat down below
- 6:55Speaker 4: watching the Patriots. They were up in the 300s. And I, like,
- 6:58Speaker 4: meet up with him after the game. And Gino, who's from.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Southie, he's a hockey ref. You know, he's got the
- 7:02Speaker 1: whole accent of it.
- 7:03Speaker 4: And he, I guess he had gotten like, not a
- 7:06Speaker 4: physical fight, but like people were harassing my sister and
- 7:08Speaker 4: he got into it with them. And I was like,
- 7:10Speaker 4: all right, this guy seems like a pretty good dude.
- 7:11Speaker 4: You know, that was how I knew he was a
- 7:13Speaker 4: good guy standing up for my sister.
- 7:14Speaker 2: A little like combination of both.
- 7:18Speaker 3: It depends on the couple.
- 7:18Speaker 4: A little bit of ball busting.
- 7:20Speaker 2: And then you bring it home at the end with
- 7:22Speaker 2: like some, some corny stuff.
- 7:24Speaker 3: When I've done it, it was mostly sweet, mostly lovely.
- 7:27Speaker 9: But my first, friend's husband, who's also now one of
- 7:29Speaker 9: my close friends, he's just such a character and also
- 7:32Speaker 9: a degenerate gambler. So there were a couple opportunities for
- 7:35Speaker 9: me to get some little comedic relief.
- 7:37Speaker 2: And you took those opportunities.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Of course I did.
- 7:39Speaker 4: I had to make fun of my friend Ashley because
- 7:41Speaker 4: she had dated a guy named Mike, and I was like,
- 7:42Speaker 4: I'm not that Mike. Oh, that's a good one.
- 7:45Speaker 2: That's funny.
- 7:45Speaker 4: No, that Mike was actually... She worked at Chuck E.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Cheese with him, and he was the Chuck E.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Cheese.
- 7:51Speaker 4: So, like, that was the big joke.
- 7:52Speaker 2: He was the guy that dressed up.
- 7:54Speaker 1: He was the guy that dressed up as Chuck E.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Cheese.
- 7:56Speaker 4: So it was a comedy goldmine.
- 7:57Speaker 2: There's so much to unpack. Marrying up there.
- 8:02Speaker 3: So much to unpack there.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Big future for her.
- 8:06Speaker 4: It was a great joke. I'm like, I'm not the
- 8:07Speaker 4: Mike that she dated who was Chuck E.
- 8:09Speaker 5: Cheese.
- 8:09Speaker 4: That was good.
- 8:10Speaker 1: It was good.
- 8:11Speaker 5: All right.
- 8:12Speaker 9: All right.
- 8:12Speaker 2: On to football.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Yeah. Patriots, Jets, Sunday at 1. We talked about it
- 8:19Speaker 1: a lot yesterday before we got off the rails a
- 8:21Speaker 1: little bit, but Evan's here.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Hi.
- 8:24Speaker 1: And you just finished doing Catch-22 with Deuce. Catch-20-Deuce. Yeah,
- 8:28Speaker 1: we're calling it Catch-20-Deuce. Catch-20-Deuce.
- 8:30Speaker 4: When I fill in. I filled in for Barth. I
- 8:32Speaker 4: wore my glasses a little bit. I tried to be
- 8:34Speaker 4: more ornery, but I don't think I was ornery enough.
- 8:36Speaker 2: You could call it Catch-Double-Deuce. Because that's what 22 is.
- 8:40Speaker 1: There you go. Okay.
- 8:41Speaker 4: That's not bad, too.
- 8:42Speaker 1: There's only one deuce, though. Evan's not a deuce.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Well, it's 22. So it's deuce, deuce. Yeah, fair enough. Anyway, again,
- 8:49Speaker 2: we're off the rails.
- 8:50Speaker 1: But, Evan, I haven't had a chance to talk to
- 8:53Speaker 1: you about the Jets yet.
- 8:57Speaker 2: What is the biggest.
- 8:58Speaker 1: How can the Jets win this game?
- 8:59Speaker 2: Let's put it that way. I think their path to
- 9:03Speaker 2: victory is a rock fight, right? I mean, I think defensively.
- 9:06Speaker 7: Even though I thought some of the eight sacks that
- 9:08Speaker 7: they had last week were more Cleveland Browns than New
- 9:11Speaker 7: York Jets, it was still eight sacks and they can
- 9:14Speaker 7: get after the quarterback. And Aaron Glenn's a notoriously blitz
- 9:18Speaker 7: happy defensive play caller. So they're going to bring pressure
- 9:22Speaker 7: and there can muddy up the game. And maybe if
- 9:26Speaker 7: they do that and offensively, if they can run the
- 9:28Speaker 7: ball a little bit and control the clock, then kind
- 9:31Speaker 7: of shorten the game and win it.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Yeah. 17-14, 20-17. Like, I think that's the Jets' path.
- 9:37Speaker 2: It's a very narrow one, but I think that's the Jets' path.
- 9:39Speaker 1: So, I was reading Deuce's three to watch, and he
- 9:42Speaker 1: was talking about how last game the Jets were in
- 9:45Speaker 1: man like a lot.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:47Speaker 1: But that's not historically what you want to do against
- 9:51Speaker 1: the Patriots and Drake May. But do you think Aaron
- 9:54Speaker 1: Glenn might say, we do that well, and we'll take
- 9:58Speaker 1: our chances? So, they.
- 9:59Speaker 2: were, yeah, they are 41% man last week.
- 10:02Speaker 7: They also are 63% blitz last week, which are both
- 10:05Speaker 7: extremely high numbers against the Browns and Deshaun Watson.
- 10:09Speaker 2: But they have over the course of the season.
- 10:11Speaker 7: Played a little bit more zone and a little bit
- 10:13Speaker 7: more split safety specifically than they had last year in
- 10:17Speaker 7: Glenn's first year. Like I would say his, his, roots are,
- 10:20Speaker 7: are man and blitzing like that, that going back to
- 10:23Speaker 7: Detroit and how he coordinated those defenses. So I think
- 10:27Speaker 7: that's what his bread and butter is, but I think
- 10:29Speaker 7: they've realized personnel wise, they don't have the cornerbacks to
- 10:32Speaker 7: be in man to man all the time. And they've
- 10:34Speaker 7: had to mix it up a little bit more into
- 10:36Speaker 7: his credit.
- 10:36Speaker 1: They have.
- 10:37Speaker 7: So I, we were talking on, on catch 20 deuce that, uh,
- 10:41Speaker 7: that's gotta be the game plan. Like if, if Aaron
- 10:44Speaker 7: Glenn comes into this game and they put a safety
- 10:46Speaker 7: up top and they play man to man and they
- 10:48Speaker 7: come after Drake may, uh, And Drake may is going
- 10:50Speaker 7: to throw for 400 yards in a game like that.
- 10:52Speaker 7: I'm not like, that's honestly going to be the case.
- 10:55Speaker 7: So if Aaron Glenn comes into this game and plays
- 10:58Speaker 7: more split safety, keeps things in front of them, makes
- 11:01Speaker 7: Drake may March the field. That also shortens the game
- 11:04Speaker 7: defensively too, by making them go on 12, 13, 14
- 11:08Speaker 7: play drives.
- 11:09Speaker 2: I'd be impressed like that. That to me would be like,
- 11:11Speaker 2: all right, like this.
- 11:12Speaker 7: Is a game plan that you can get behind and
- 11:16Speaker 7: you see what they're trying to do. If they come
- 11:18Speaker 7: out and play man-to-man and give Drake the single shots
- 11:21Speaker 7: on the outside, then it's going.
- 11:22Speaker 2: To be a long day for them. Good luck.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:24Speaker 2: So that's a good overview.
- 11:27Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Now, the headlines.
- 11:29Speaker 8: Mm-hmm.
- 11:30Speaker 12: Who's back at practice for the Patriots? Do you want
- 11:32Speaker 12: to talk about that? Ajay Brown, back out there. Yeah,
- 11:36Speaker 12: we were talking a little bit about him. I mean,
- 11:37Speaker 12: you know, I hate doing this, but he looked like
- 11:39Speaker 12: he was running good. You know, these guys, they always
- 11:42Speaker 12: probably look good running even when they are injured. But
- 11:44Speaker 12: a little bit of an ankle tape on him, you know,
- 11:47Speaker 12: just letting you know he is still coming back from that.
- 11:49Speaker 4: But I think it's, you know, obviously a great sign.
- 11:51Speaker 4: I mean, this is a big piece of the offseason.
- 11:54Speaker 4: This is what we've all been talking about. And just
- 11:57Speaker 4: excited to see these.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Guys get together.
- 11:58Speaker 1: And the way everyone's talking, I didn't think he'd play
- 12:01Speaker 1: this game.
- 12:02Speaker 2: I figured he'd be back at practice.
- 12:03Speaker 9: I feel like Rabel's press conference towards the end of
- 12:06Speaker 9: his quotes about them kind of insinuated that they might
- 12:09Speaker 9: at least try it and see how he looks and
- 12:11Speaker 9: see how it feels, maybe not the whole game. But
- 12:14Speaker 9: I forget how Rabel ended it, but he was like,
- 12:18Speaker 9: we'll see if he's ready to go in a couple.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Days, and then if not, 21-day window. So that kind
- 12:23Speaker 3: of perked my ears up a bit.
- 12:25Speaker 4: The thing I said to Ev was, you know, and
- 12:28Speaker 4: Evan made the point, you don't have to play him
- 12:30Speaker 4: every single down.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Like, you can ease him back in.
- 12:32Speaker 4: And really, in the grand scheme of things, this game
- 12:34Speaker 4: against the Jets is more important than next week's game
- 12:36Speaker 4: against the Bears. So, you know, and do you necessarily
- 12:39Speaker 4: have to have to have A.J. Brown to win this game?
- 12:41Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 12:42Speaker 4: But if he was a little sore, you know, you'll
- 12:44Speaker 4: get an extended break.
- 12:45Speaker 1: See, here's my thing.
- 12:46Speaker 2: I just get him out there.
- 12:48Speaker 1: If he's a little sore, I don't want him playing. Yes,
- 12:52Speaker 1: this is a more important game than the Bears, but.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I think it's a winnable game without A.J.
- 12:57Speaker 13: Brown.
- 12:57Speaker 1: And I'd rather make sure that the game he comes back,
- 13:02Speaker 1: he is 100% ready to go. I don't want any setbacks.
- 13:07Speaker 1: I want him for the rest of the season. So
- 13:11Speaker 1: to me, if he plays this game, that means he's ready.
- 13:16Speaker 1: You know, Jim Whalen's training staff has signed off and said, no,
- 13:19Speaker 1: he is good. He's good to go.
- 13:21Speaker 2: If something happens in this game, it's a new thing.
- 13:24Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's a tricky one.
- 13:26Speaker 7: And Rabel was asked about the Thursday night football next week,
- 13:28Speaker 7: and he kind of downplayed it and said, let's just
- 13:31Speaker 7: worry about the Jets, and then we'll worry about that.
- 13:33Speaker 7: you know, come Monday, but at the same time, it
- 13:36Speaker 7: is two games in five days that they have coming up.
- 13:39Speaker 7: And if you play Jay Brown on Sunday against the jets,
- 13:42Speaker 7: are you then going to turn around and have him
- 13:43Speaker 7: play again Thursday night against the bears? Whereas, you know,
- 13:47Speaker 7: if you hold them out in this game, maybe you
- 13:49Speaker 7: bring them back in the bears game and then you
- 13:50Speaker 7: have the 10 days off in between to get them
- 13:52Speaker 7: ready for the dolphins. And It's a little bit of
- 13:54Speaker 7: a softer landing spot in that respect. But the other
- 13:57Speaker 7: side of it is that, well, they have practice this week,
- 14:00Speaker 7: but they don't really practice.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Next week with the Thursday night game.
- 14:03Speaker 7: They have walkthroughs and stuff like that. So if you
- 14:05Speaker 7: don't play him in the game, is he getting any
- 14:07Speaker 7: real live reps? Because if he's not in the game
- 14:10Speaker 7: plan this week, then he's probably not going to get
- 14:12Speaker 7: the reps with the first team offense in practice this week.
- 14:16Speaker 2: And then next week, they don't really have practice.
- 14:18Speaker 7: So do you play him in this game on Sunday
- 14:20Speaker 7: against the Jets even like 20 snaps? Like just to
- 14:23Speaker 7: get his sea legs and just to get him some
- 14:25Speaker 7: work in to see how he's moving.
- 14:27Speaker 2: I think it is a little bit of a discussion
- 14:29Speaker 2: in terms of how to do it.
- 14:30Speaker 9: Especially with how slow the offense kind of started off
- 14:33Speaker 9: to the season.
- 14:34Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 14:35Speaker 2: I agree.
- 14:36Speaker 1: I mean, I was totally preparing myself for him not
- 14:39Speaker 1: playing until after Chicago. Sure. Because you have that long
- 14:43Speaker 1: break after that game. So then you know.
- 14:46Speaker 2: If he was.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Kind of ready to go this week, he's definitely going
- 14:51Speaker 1: to be ready to go after Chicago. And you go
- 14:54Speaker 1: all that extra time after that game to... He's going
- 14:58Speaker 1: to start. It's going to be a full week of
- 15:00Speaker 1: practice with him as the starter. No bones about it.
- 15:04Speaker 1: So I was preparing myself for that. But listen, again,
- 15:08Speaker 1: if he's ready to go, let's go.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah. I mean, do you think there's any, and
- 15:11Speaker 4: just throwing it out there, of using him like they
- 15:13Speaker 4: used Gronk on the Super Bowl? I know that that
- 15:15Speaker 4: wasn't ideal, but.
- 15:18Speaker 2: A.J.
- 15:18Speaker 4: Brown is a presence, and he's somebody that if he's
- 15:21Speaker 4: out there, Glenn and the Jets are going to have
- 15:23Speaker 4: to take account of him and figure out, we don't
- 15:26Speaker 4: know what he's got right now, but we have to
- 15:28Speaker 4: be aware of him. Does that help where you're just
- 15:30Speaker 4: going to get him out there? Maybe we're not going
- 15:32Speaker 4: to play him a ton. We're not going to target
- 15:33Speaker 4: him a ton. Why would you do that? Is that because...
- 15:36Speaker 4: Just to pull some coverage, to put something for the
- 15:38Speaker 4: defense to think about.
- 15:39Speaker 2: I mean, I'm just spitballing here.
- 15:41Speaker 1: It's fine, but again, if he's 100%, Let's go. You know,
- 15:46Speaker 1: let's go.
- 15:46Speaker 7: I would more just look at, like, I think we're
- 15:49Speaker 7: saying the same thing differently, Deuce. Like, I just think
- 15:51Speaker 7: that practice reps this time of year are not what
- 15:55Speaker 7: we were watching in August, right? Like, they have, you know,
- 15:59Speaker 7: good on good periods on Wednesdays usually for the end
- 16:02Speaker 7: of Wednesday where the starters go against the starters. But
- 16:04Speaker 7: for the most part, it's offense, scout, you know, offense
- 16:07Speaker 7: one versus the scout team and so on and so forth.
- 16:10Speaker 7: And if you're not in the game plan, if you're
- 16:11Speaker 7: not playing, then they're not going to be giving A.J.
- 16:14Speaker 7: Brown those reps over Kyle Williams and Romeo Dobbs and
- 16:17Speaker 7: Pop Douglas and Efton Chisholm. So they've got to get
- 16:21Speaker 7: those guys ready to play in the game. I hate
- 16:25Speaker 7: to say that the game is practice, but for A.J. Brown,
- 16:28Speaker 7: it's almost like just getting him back into the mix
- 16:30Speaker 7: of it and getting his sea legs and all that
- 16:32Speaker 7: kind of stuff. I think there is some value to
- 16:34Speaker 7: him just being active in the game on Sunday and
- 16:38Speaker 7: just having him even play 15 to 20 snaps regularly.
- 16:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Whether it's a decoy, whether it's full go in those
- 16:43Speaker 2: snaps or what have you.
- 16:44Speaker 4: And I mean, like this is a guy who grew
- 16:46Speaker 4: up a Patriots fan who hasn't played at home yet.
- 16:49Speaker 4: I mean, I think he'd like and of course, he's
- 16:51Speaker 4: a major competitor, too. But I think A.J. Brown is
- 16:54Speaker 4: going to want to be out there. He's going to
- 16:55Speaker 4: want to, you know, run out of that tunnel with
- 16:57Speaker 4: his helmet flashing in the sun, if you.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Know what I mean. All right, so A.J. Brown, Will Campbell,
- 17:04Speaker 1: good news is that he's at practice. Now, he wasn't
- 17:08Speaker 1: a full participant. That's weird. But he's out there, and
- 17:11Speaker 1: so the reports are that he's avoided a major or
- 17:17Speaker 1: a more difficult injury to come back from.
- 17:20Speaker 4: One of the more jaw-dropping moments I've had in my
- 17:22Speaker 4: time here of covering the locker room where we went
- 17:24Speaker 4: from hearing Vrabel in his press conference saying, you know,
- 17:26Speaker 4: playing coy about it, saying, well, if we do put
- 17:28Speaker 4: someone on an hour, it probably would be Saturday.
- 17:30Speaker 13: All right.
- 17:31Speaker 4: You know, we know what happened last year. And then
- 17:34Speaker 4: all of a sudden, Will Campbell just comes walking into
- 17:35Speaker 4: the locker room with his pads on and everything, you know,
- 17:37Speaker 4: his shells on. I'm like, holy crap.
- 17:39Speaker 3: And it was mid-scrum with Lomu, too. So you're talking
- 17:42Speaker 3: to Lomu about Lomu having.
- 17:44Speaker 9: To play and start, and Will just comes in full,
- 17:46Speaker 9: ready to go, dressed, and goes out equipment to the field.
- 17:49Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 17:50Speaker 4: The money quote to me, just sorry, real quick, was just,
- 17:52Speaker 4: he said it felt, it was a lot different than
- 17:54Speaker 4: last year's injury. So, you know, what degree is that?
- 17:57Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Evan and I on Catch 20 Deuce were talking like,
- 18:00Speaker 4: are we trying to save him from himself again? Is
- 18:02Speaker 4: he trying to, you know, push to play? I just
- 18:04Speaker 4: thought it was interesting. We saw him. He looked like
- 18:06Speaker 4: he was ready to go out to practice. They didn't,
- 18:08Speaker 4: then they didn't see him out there. Then he was
- 18:11Speaker 4: reported as limited as was Travion Henderson, who I thought
- 18:15Speaker 4: with the reports that he's got a high ankle sprain
- 18:17Speaker 4: that he was probably headed to IR, but The.
- 18:19Speaker 7: Travion Henderson one surprised me more than Will Campbell, because
- 18:22Speaker 7: the reports out of the game on Sunday were that
- 18:24Speaker 7: Will Campbell almost immediately avoided a major injury. Travion Henderson,
- 18:29Speaker 7: everybody said it was a high ankle sprain, which is
- 18:31Speaker 7: usually a multi-week injury, maybe even... a short-term IR thing,
- 18:35Speaker 7: and then all of a sudden he's limited in practice
- 18:37Speaker 7: yesterday and he's out there.
- 18:39Speaker 2: And I was like, wow, this is strange.
- 18:40Speaker 1: I think the Vrabel laying hands, there's something to that.
- 18:43Speaker 1: He's a quick healer, Travion.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Just healing. Did you see Travion come back out to
- 18:51Speaker 3: the sidelines?
- 18:53Speaker 8: Yes.
- 18:53Speaker 2: And Will was on.
- 18:54Speaker 1: The bike, too.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Yeah, he was on the sideline.
- 18:56Speaker 3: I don't know, maybe I read too much into all that.
- 18:58Speaker 1: The doctors told us yesterday on the show that For
- 19:01Speaker 1: an MCL, it's good to keep it moving.
- 19:02Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Because I was wondering the same thing.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Oh, Will's on the bike. That's a good sign. But
- 19:07Speaker 2: that's what you kind of do.
- 19:07Speaker 9: I wonder if that builds, like, inflammation if you stop moving.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:12Speaker 2: So that's what they did.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Makes sense.
- 19:14Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 19:14Speaker 1: So relatively good news on the injury front in terms of,
- 19:18Speaker 1: you know, what, you know, it could have been worse.
- 19:21Speaker 5: It is.
- 19:21Speaker 2: In other words.
- 19:22Speaker 4: I mean, in a weird way, it's like I'm excited
- 19:24Speaker 4: to see Lomu get a chance. You know, see this
- 19:26Speaker 4: first round pick get out there and get the first
- 19:28Speaker 4: start of his career. It's, you know, a big spot.
- 19:30Speaker 4: The offensive line has been playing better. How does it look,
- 19:33Speaker 4: you know, with him in there? And this is, you know,
- 19:35Speaker 4: the future is now. That's the kind of, you know,
- 19:38Speaker 4: mindset when these young guys get an opportunity. You know,
- 19:41Speaker 4: it's not just about this week against the Jets. It's about,
- 19:43Speaker 4: you know, December, January and getting these guys ready. Then,
- 19:46Speaker 4: you know, another injury comes up down the pike. You've
- 19:48Speaker 4: got Lomu has some starting.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Experience. Walter Melrose has a question and a couple other
- 19:53Speaker 1: people have the same question that I've emailed in. why
- 19:56Speaker 1: not require your linemen to wear braces? Preventatively, you know,
- 20:00Speaker 1: as a preventative message. I think Belichick used to have
- 20:03Speaker 1: that policy that linemen wear braces.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Why not make them wear braces?
- 20:09Speaker 7: Some guys, just the range of movement feels restricted. So
- 20:13Speaker 7: it's kind of, I think that's probably the.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Well, I'm sure that's the answer, but like, the more
- 20:19Speaker 1: you do it, the more you get used to it.
- 20:22Speaker 2: It's these athletic guys, though, you know?
- 20:24Speaker 7: Yeah, and I just like, I remember, you know, just
- 20:28Speaker 7: a different position, but, like, Mahomes, the Chiefs had to, like,
- 20:32Speaker 7: beg him to wear the knee brace in practice when
- 20:35Speaker 7: he was coming back from the ACL, and he kept
- 20:37Speaker 7: on throwing it off and being like, I don't want
- 20:39Speaker 7: this thing. This thing is, you know, it's restricting my movement.
- 20:42Speaker 7: So I think that that's the main reason.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Mahomes, a quarterback different, but lineman, you know, you're, you know, yeah,
- 20:49Speaker 1: I'm sure that, you know, you get out of your
- 20:50Speaker 1: stance and you're on the move sometimes and all that, but, like,
- 20:53Speaker 1: how much... range of motion do you actually need? Right.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Well, you need to be able to, like, bend and
- 21:00Speaker 2: get into your stance and.
- 21:02Speaker 3: I wonder how difficult it makes, like, lateral movement, too.
- 21:05Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 21:06Speaker 2: But with today's technology, I mean.
- 21:08Speaker 3: The braces are crazy. They're really lightweight. They're... Yeah. It's
- 21:11Speaker 3: pretty insane.
- 21:12Speaker 1: It's not like the huge bulky things that they used
- 21:14Speaker 1: to have. And who was it just recently? I don't
- 21:17Speaker 1: know if it was Mahomes, but They had him fitted
- 21:19Speaker 1: with this really streamlined brace. It was Mahomes.
- 21:22Speaker 2: It was Mahomes. They wouldn't shut up about this damn brace.
- 21:25Speaker 2: He didn't want to wear it.
- 21:27Speaker 7: He was like, I need to be able to move
- 21:29Speaker 7: around and he'd be able to run and be Patrick Mahomes.
- 21:31Speaker 7: And they were like, well, you're the franchise and you
- 21:33Speaker 7: tore your ACL, so put the damn brace on.
- 21:35Speaker 1: I remember when Brady had to wear his brace and
- 21:38Speaker 1: he slid once and the thing got unhooked and it
- 21:39Speaker 1: was sticking out and everything like that.
- 21:42Speaker 2: To me, that's a bad brace.
- 21:44Speaker 1: But like I said, with today's technology, let's figure it out.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Let's protect these linemen because... So often they get rolled up.
- 21:50Speaker 1: It's not even like, you know, they see it coming
- 21:54Speaker 1: and they can avoid it.
- 21:54Speaker 4: Like, I don't know how guys don't get hurt every
- 21:56Speaker 4: single play. Sometimes people just charge into the line and
- 21:59Speaker 4: bodies are just collapsing.
- 22:01Speaker 1: And I'm like, how is a leg not getting broken?
- 22:02Speaker 7: Yeah, that was a tough one because he was he
- 22:04Speaker 7: was pulling out the block and the guy he was
- 22:06Speaker 7: supposed to block kind of slanted inside. So he let
- 22:09Speaker 7: him go. And then he was kind of like looking
- 22:11Speaker 7: around to block somebody. And so he was kind of
- 22:14Speaker 7: lost a little bit on the play.
- 22:16Speaker 1: And space.
- 22:16Speaker 7: And then all of a sudden the, the, the train
- 22:19Speaker 7: wreck happens and, you know, right on top of them.
- 22:21Speaker 1: So it was a, it was a tough play.
- 22:23Speaker 4: I just, I think the big key that Evan and
- 22:25Speaker 4: I talked about was just, you know, making sure that
- 22:27Speaker 4: we'll Campbell is, is healthy and isn't going to go
- 22:30Speaker 4: out there and, you know, try to push it. And
- 22:33Speaker 4: I'm sure he heard the talk last year about how
- 22:35Speaker 4: things changed after the injury. I mean, very well said it,
- 22:37Speaker 4: Ellie Wolf said it, um, just want to avoid that again.
- 22:40Speaker 4: I don't want to, you know, be coming in here
- 22:41Speaker 4: talking about, hell, he was good before the injury, like
- 22:43Speaker 4: make sure he's healthy and, You know, it's early enough
- 22:46Speaker 4: in the season that he should be okay by the
- 22:47Speaker 4: time these games really start to count after Thanksgiving.
- 22:50Speaker 2: There's some pressure on him.
- 22:51Speaker 7: There's no doubt. Like, for him to play well, obviously
- 22:53Speaker 7: they drafted Lomu. Like, there's some pressure on him. And
- 22:56Speaker 7: this is a me thing that I get worried about
- 22:58Speaker 7: and probably zero truth or validity to it. But, like,
- 23:01Speaker 7: you just hope that he's not, like, worried about, like,
- 23:04Speaker 7: losing his job to Lomu.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Getting Wally Pipped.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. And so.
- 23:08Speaker 2: At the end of the day, Morgan Moses is 35
- 23:10Speaker 2: years old. So you need two tackles. So whether it's
- 23:13Speaker 2: the left.
- 23:14Speaker 7: Side or the right side, he's going to have a
- 23:16Speaker 7: starting job here for the foreseeable future. But that would
- 23:20Speaker 7: be the smallest concern that I would have is that
- 23:23Speaker 7: he's looking over his shoulder.
- 23:24Speaker 1: So moving back to Henderson, I don't think he's going
- 23:26Speaker 1: to play this week. So how are the Patriots going
- 23:29Speaker 1: to work around that this week? Time to kiner. Yeah. Yeah.
- 23:34Speaker 7: So, you know, Ramond Ray, obviously Corey Kiner, uh, land
- 23:37Speaker 7: layers in on the practice squad. They did sign Hassan
- 23:39Speaker 7: Haskins back to the practice squad too. So they have
- 23:42Speaker 7: two running backs on the practice squad. Now I would
- 23:45Speaker 7: assume that Larrison would probably get the elevation though over.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Over Haskins.
- 23:49Speaker 7: Uh, but going back to week one, Ramond Ray Stevenson
- 23:53Speaker 7: against Seattle went with that Travion Henderson played 85% of
- 23:56Speaker 7: the snaps. So he basically was wire to wire that
- 24:00Speaker 7: the running back in that game. Uh, I don't, you know,
- 24:03Speaker 7: Deuce has been on it. I don't think we want
- 24:05Speaker 7: to see that. Like, you don't want to see him
- 24:06Speaker 7: have to shoulder that kind of workload. Now, if it's
- 24:09Speaker 7: just one week, then that's one thing. But if it's
- 24:12Speaker 7: a long-term thing, so I think you have to at
- 24:14Speaker 7: least get Corey Kiner some, you know, between the tackles,
- 24:18Speaker 7: first down kind of carries, like eight, ten of them
- 24:21Speaker 7: in a game like this and take a little bit
- 24:23Speaker 7: of the pressure off of Ramondre.
- 24:25Speaker 4: The high rate of blitzing from the Jets is where
- 24:27Speaker 4: I would be cautious with Ramondre and using him in
- 24:30Speaker 4: those situations because the Jets are going to blitz He's
- 24:34Speaker 4: a back.
- 24:34Speaker 1: You trust in blitz pickup.
- 24:35Speaker 4: So, you know, running him into the ground on first down,
- 24:38Speaker 4: maybe not as important as keeping him to be able
- 24:41Speaker 4: to block on third down.
- 24:42Speaker 1: And listen, if the Jets do blitz a lot, good luck.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Kyle Williams might be more effective with that than A.J.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Brown because of his speed.
- 24:52Speaker 4: Yeah, possibly. I mean, you know, are they playing more zone?
- 24:55Speaker 4: What guys know where to sit? Those kind of things. Yeah.
- 24:59Speaker 2: It's a good chess match.
- 24:59Speaker 4: I'm really interested just to see because I think it's
- 25:01Speaker 4: an opportunity for Aaron Glenn to show against the divisional
- 25:04Speaker 4: rival that we can game plan against this guy. That's
- 25:07Speaker 4: what I always thought in the AFC East. Like every offseason,
- 25:10Speaker 4: we have to figure out Tom Brady. Like if you're
- 25:12Speaker 4: the if you're one of those three teams, that's what
- 25:14Speaker 4: you have to do. Now we got to figure out
- 25:16Speaker 4: Josh Allen and Drake May. And, you know, the best
- 25:18Speaker 4: way to do it is probably not. their preferred style
- 25:21Speaker 4: of defense. So can they adjust? Can they be flexible?
- 25:24Speaker 4: Because if you can't beat Drake main, you don't have
- 25:25Speaker 4: a plan against the Patriots. Then I think it's a
- 25:27Speaker 4: real indictment on what you're trying to build.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:29Speaker 7: They, they don't have the offense probably, but like defensively,
- 25:32Speaker 7: I think they have some personnel now that they can
- 25:34Speaker 7: at least do some things that can challenge you. You know,
- 25:37Speaker 7: obviously talked a lot about Bailey are already this week,
- 25:41Speaker 7: but they, they trade for Minka.
- 25:42Speaker 1: They have David Bailey.
- 25:43Speaker 2: They have the Mario Davis now linebacker.
- 25:46Speaker 1: So they have some pieces.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Oh yeah, absolutely. So, okay, what are the things that
- 25:52Speaker 1: we have to look for in this game? Let's turn
- 25:55Speaker 1: to Geno Smith because he's come in here the last
- 26:00Speaker 1: two times, right? Yeah. And he's had success at Gillette Stadium.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Does that mean anything?
- 26:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, just sharing his numbers in those two games.
- 26:09Speaker 4: Went in Seattle two years ago, 20-20 overtime. Last year
- 26:11Speaker 4: with Vegas, 20-13. 327 yards with Seattle, 362. with Vegas
- 26:19Speaker 4: last year. So that's, you know, 689 yards and passing
- 26:21Speaker 4: in two games, 103.1, 102.8 passer rating. So he's, I
- 26:26Speaker 4: just think he's not going to be intimidated. He's not,
- 26:29Speaker 4: he's come in here and won twice with two different teams.
- 26:31Speaker 4: So to expect him to come in here, he hasn't
- 26:34Speaker 4: thrown an interception.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Yeah, he's going to take care of the ball too.
- 26:36Speaker 4: We can get into that. You know, Evan had some
- 26:37Speaker 4: good stats on that about.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Has any quarterback beaten the Patriots on three different teams?
- 26:44Speaker 1: That's a good question. Maybe Fitzpatrick.
- 26:47Speaker 2: He's the obvious candidate.
- 26:49Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 26:49Speaker 2: He definitely beat him with the Bills. Yeah, probably with Miami.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe.
- 26:54Speaker 4: I'll effort that.
- 26:56Speaker 7: He started that game in 2019 for the Dolphins, I think,
- 26:58Speaker 7: the last game of the season.
- 27:00Speaker 13: Right.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Knocked the Patriots out of the bye. That was a
- 27:02Speaker 1: tough one.
- 27:03Speaker 2: So I think maybe.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Maybe Fitzpatrick. Maybe Fitzpatrick. Yeah, because he's been on every
- 27:07Speaker 1: team in the league. Yeah.
- 27:09Speaker 4: All right.
- 27:10Speaker 2: But Gino Smith, I agree.
- 27:12Speaker 1: He's not one to get intimidated.
- 27:14Speaker 2: I think he's got.
- 27:15Speaker 1: He's not the greatest quarterback ever, but he has a
- 27:18Speaker 1: lot of confidence in himself. He doesn't get rattled. So
- 27:24Speaker 1: I think you have to be careful playing against him. Now, obviously,
- 27:29Speaker 1: Miles Garrett is really good.
- 27:30Speaker 2: They've got the good tight end. Garrett Wilson. Garrett Wilson.
- 27:34Speaker 1: What did I call him?
- 27:35Speaker 2: Miles Garrett.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Yeah, Garrett Wilson.
- 27:36Speaker 10: Sorry.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Miles Garrett Wilson. We speak for him. The young tight
- 27:40Speaker 1: end that they've got, he's good. So they've got some
- 27:43Speaker 1: talent on offense. And I don't know about that.
- 27:47Speaker 2: You don't know about that?
- 27:48Speaker 1: No.
- 27:48Speaker 2: I mean, they... Garrett Wilson's a really good player.
- 27:52Speaker 7: I don't really know what else offensively.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Now.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Brees Hall's probably not going to play.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Do you like the running backs?
- 27:57Speaker 7: Yeah, I like Braylon Allen. I think Braylon Allen is
- 28:01Speaker 7: kind of a power runner. Broke a bunch of tackles
- 28:03Speaker 7: last week.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Poor man, Derrick Henry.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:05Speaker 7: You know, I kind of... Brees Hall's not going to play,
- 28:08Speaker 7: so I've kind of, you know, crossed him off. But
- 28:10Speaker 7: outside of Garrett Wilson in the passing.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Game, I don't really think they got much.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Okay.
- 28:15Speaker 7: It's very similar to last week with the Raiders. The
- 28:17Speaker 7: Brock Bowers, that's their guy. Garrett Wilson's the Jets guy.
- 28:21Speaker 7: I don't really know if much else scares you. If
- 28:24Speaker 7: Sadiq plays, he's in concussion protocol, so we'll see if
- 28:26Speaker 7: he plays. I guess him popping a seam or a
- 28:29Speaker 7: wheel route or something like that for a big play
- 28:31Speaker 7: could happen.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's not like they lit it up last
- 28:33Speaker 1: week against the Browns.
- 28:35Speaker 2: They did not. They did not.
- 28:36Speaker 7: They came out in the very first drive of the
- 28:38Speaker 7: game and went right down the field. But after that,
- 28:40Speaker 7: the Browns, they were able to kind of figure it
- 28:43Speaker 7: out a little bit.
- 28:44Speaker 4: Brian Fitzpatrick did beat the Patriots with all three AFC
- 28:47Speaker 4: East teams.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought he did.
- 28:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:49Speaker 13: Wow.
- 28:49Speaker 4: Beat them in 2019 with Miami, as Ev pointed out.
- 28:53Speaker 4: Beat New England in 2015 in overtime, 26-20.
- 28:57Speaker 1: And then, oh, shoot, I just thought.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Anyway, we have our answer.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Okay. All right, we got a lot of calls, a
- 29:05Speaker 1: lot of emails, and, of course, we have to hurry
- 29:08Speaker 1: because today's picks day. So it's 855-PATS-500 is the hotline.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Podcasts at Patriots.com is the email address. Alec writes in,
- 29:18Speaker 1: if A.J. is cleared to play, then he should play.
- 29:20Speaker 1: The coaches can determine if they want him on a
- 29:22Speaker 1: snap count. He may very well not need to play
- 29:26Speaker 1: limited snaps. If Drake is on, then it won't really
- 29:29Speaker 1: matter if A.J.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Plays or not.
- 29:31Speaker 1: That I agree with.
- 29:31Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 29:32Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 29:32Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 29:33Speaker 1: And I think he can get on without AJ. yeah
- 29:35Speaker 1: so i also agree with my main thing is let's
- 29:39Speaker 1: make sure we have aj for the long term yeah
- 29:42Speaker 1: so whatever that means um it's also.
- 29:45Speaker 4: Just that pull to get the magic going and start
- 29:47Speaker 4: to see this connection because that's you know i think
- 29:49Speaker 4: getting these two guys getting their chemistry going in game
- 29:54Speaker 4: conditions that's something that might take a little bit of
- 29:56Speaker 4: time it might take A.J. Brown a little time to
- 29:58Speaker 4: get up to game speed after the injury. So that's
- 30:01Speaker 4: why I'm just excited to get that clock going, because
- 30:03Speaker 4: it was such a it was so much fun this
- 30:05Speaker 4: summer to watch. I mean, even in, you know, minicamp,
- 30:07Speaker 4: it was like in the first half in Seattle.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Yeah, they were getting in the ball.
- 30:12Speaker 1: MJ says, welcome back, Evan. Glad you're feeling better. These
- 30:15Speaker 1: other guys are not ball knowers.
- 30:17Speaker 5: Oh, wow.
- 30:18Speaker 1: I like that.
- 30:19Speaker 2: OK, that Paul would.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Not like that email. He would not like that.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Some of us, like, you know, pay attention to more
- 30:25Speaker 2: than just Red Zone, you know?
- 30:27Speaker 1: Logan in West Virginia writes in, Deuce set a throwaway
- 30:30Speaker 1: line in yesterday's show about not making this Jets unfiltered,
- 30:34Speaker 1: which got me thinking about the Seinfeld episode, The Bizarro Jerry.
- 30:38Speaker 1: What if a Jets unfiltered existed in a Bizarro universe
- 30:42Speaker 1: and the JU crew... We're bizarro versions of the PU crew.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Here's how I would see each of you. Bizarro Fred
- 30:50Speaker 1: has a real laissez-faire attitude when it comes to time
- 30:52Speaker 1: on Thursdays.
- 30:53Speaker 2: There's no need to hurry.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Understands that being the home team doesn't give you three.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Not passionate about restaurants or products. Doesn't give his recommendations
- 31:02Speaker 1: because he doesn't have a strong enough opinion. Bizarro Evan
- 31:06Speaker 1: actually loves the NFL and watches the games while eating
- 31:09Speaker 1: his favorite meal, Subway. Hates watching tape, considers it nerdy,
- 31:14Speaker 1: loves to mow his own lawn. Bizarro deuce, has a
- 31:17Speaker 1: passion for watching and coaching basketball, frequently argues with Paul
- 31:21Speaker 1: and isn't scared to do so.
- 31:24Speaker 2: That would be bizarre. That was the funniest part of
- 31:26Speaker 2: Tuesday's show is Mike, like, so afraid.
- 31:29Speaker 3: You came right out.
- 31:29Speaker 2: I have a bone to pick.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Saw Derrick Henry in person and did nothing for him.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Bizarro Paul, actually a fan of the team and wants
- 31:38Speaker 1: every win to be a blowout because he learns more
- 31:41Speaker 1: from beating a team by 30, tells people how they
- 31:43Speaker 1: should think and feel, has a new car. Well, Paul
- 31:46Speaker 1: actually does do that. He doesn't admit it, but, you know.
- 31:49Speaker 1: And Bizarro Alex shows up on Thursdays.
- 31:53Speaker 4: I imagine Bizarro Fred, who has worked for the Jets
- 31:56Speaker 4: since the mid-90s, would be like the grizzled guy who's been,
- 32:00Speaker 4: like Vietnam War movies where you get there and there's
- 32:03Speaker 4: the old guy who's been through seven tours and he
- 32:05Speaker 4: just looks absolutely like he's been through hell. I mean,
- 32:07Speaker 4: a guy who's worked covering the Jets for that long,
- 32:09Speaker 4: no Super Bowls, one playoff win, two playoff wins.
- 32:13Speaker 2: We barely survived three years like that.
- 32:16Speaker 1: A real fan doesn't sit in a suite. He sits
- 32:19Speaker 1: in the stands.
- 32:21Speaker 2: One of those fuds.
- 32:23Speaker 7: I just feel like Paul is too far removed from
- 32:26Speaker 7: being a true fan because there is no fan that
- 32:29Speaker 7: looks at it and says, I want to learn about
- 32:31Speaker 7: the team in a tough game. That's how we look
- 32:34Speaker 7: at it. That's how you look at it as somebody
- 32:36Speaker 7: who covers the team.
- 32:37Speaker 1: That's not it.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Right. Like Sunday was, that.
- 32:40Speaker 7: Was like euphoric for most fans watching them light it
- 32:44Speaker 7: up like that.
- 32:44Speaker 1: If you're a real fan of a team and your
- 32:46Speaker 1: team's about to play, do you go in and go, geez,
- 32:49Speaker 1: I hope it's a real tough game. It's too stressful.
- 32:51Speaker 2: You don't. I want to learn about the middle of
- 32:52Speaker 2: this team. I hope we blow these guys out.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Yeah, 100%. That's a fan. Paul won't admit that he's
- 32:59Speaker 1: not a fan.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Or he just loves the drama.
- 33:01Speaker 1: It's been.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Okay, but still. It's been 30 years since he's been
- 33:06Speaker 2: a fan.
- 33:06Speaker 1: He's not watching as a fan. That's why I'm excited.
- 33:09Speaker 4: I'm working on a 96 podcast, and that was the
- 33:12Speaker 4: last time.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Paul was a super fan.
- 33:13Speaker 4: Just pure fan and... I'm excited to interview him because
- 33:18Speaker 4: he was so passionate about that season. He remembers so
- 33:21Speaker 4: much about it.
- 33:22Speaker 2: He's a different person when.
- 33:23Speaker 4: He talks to you about that team. I'm like, this
- 33:24Speaker 4: is going to be weird in this edition of the podcast.
- 33:26Speaker 4: Usually I like to have a fan voice. Well, my
- 33:28Speaker 4: fan voice is going to be Paul Perel's.
- 33:31Speaker 2: All right. Darius in Louisville. Just a couple things.
- 33:34Speaker 1: I know we turned the page of the Jets and
- 33:36Speaker 1: got in a hurry, but it would have been so
- 33:37Speaker 1: awesome to see Balmort recover the fumble and ponder like
- 33:41Speaker 1: he did for him a couple of weeks ago. Seeing
- 33:44Speaker 1: those guys on All Access really shows– the love and
- 33:46Speaker 1: connection between them. So that would have been nice to see. Yesterday,
- 33:50Speaker 1: I said something about the run game, and Deuce immediately
- 33:52Speaker 1: pulled an Evan on me and went straight to the stats.
- 33:56Speaker 1: I was basing it on my eye test, like Pauly. Yeah.
- 33:59Speaker 1: Patriots 48, Jets 17. His eye test.
- 34:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Of the 27th ranked DPA rush offense in football. That
- 34:05Speaker 1: was the stat.
- 34:06Speaker 4: That came up. I don't always go to the stats,
- 34:09Speaker 4: but sometimes they back up. And I'm not saying that.
- 34:12Speaker 4: their running game is atrocious. Like it's just, it's been inconsistent.
- 34:15Speaker 4: They've had flashes and I don't think that's uncommon early
- 34:18Speaker 4: in the season, you know?
- 34:19Speaker 1: Yeah. It's slightly improved each week.
- 34:21Speaker 4: There were some holes last week, but I, you know,
- 34:22Speaker 4: it's still not again. And I, I caught some of
- 34:24Speaker 4: that Rams game against the bills where it's like, they
- 34:27Speaker 4: don't get touched for four or five yards downfield. I mean,
- 34:29Speaker 4: it's like the C's part and that's, that's what you're
- 34:32Speaker 4: trying to get to.
- 34:32Speaker 7: The Rams ran a lot of duo. That's, that's their
- 34:35Speaker 7: number one run scheme. And it's a Patriots number one
- 34:37Speaker 7: run scheme too. And when you watch the two of
- 34:38Speaker 7: them running, yeah.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Um, Chris from New Hampshire has a, question and a
- 34:43Speaker 1: lot of people had a similar question so we'll blend
- 34:45Speaker 1: them all into one and i'll just put it out
- 34:47Speaker 1: there how did and did uh last week may have
- 34:53Speaker 1: to face cover six and how did he do against
- 34:56Speaker 1: it and do we think that he's got that figured.
- 34:58Speaker 7: Out yeah they they ran a couple of snaps of
- 35:01Speaker 7: it i think it was three total some of the
- 35:04Speaker 7: you know sometimes you it depends like some of it
- 35:06Speaker 7: looks like quarters and or cover two and it's actually
- 35:09Speaker 7: cover six so there's some like tough difficulties in terms
- 35:13Speaker 7: of tracking it. But the first, um, the first completion
- 35:17Speaker 7: he threw to Romeo Dobbs at 16 yard income was
- 35:19Speaker 7: a hundred percent cover six.
- 35:21Speaker 1: I think that we're sort of getting to the.
- 35:22Speaker 7: Point where, and I think I gave Nate Tice credit
- 35:27Speaker 7: for this on catch.
- 35:28Speaker 2: I think that it like, maybe that's a Seattle thing.
- 35:31Speaker 7: That that's Seattle's bread and butter and Seattle's the best
- 35:34Speaker 7: defense in football. And so the numbers he's gotten up
- 35:37Speaker 7: against Seattle twice and, you know, a short span of
- 35:40Speaker 7: time and they run a lot of cover six. So
- 35:43Speaker 7: I'm starting to get to the point where it's like,
- 35:44Speaker 7: maybe these other teams, I don't think can execute cover six,
- 35:48Speaker 7: like Seattle can.
- 35:48Speaker 5: Right.
- 35:49Speaker 7: So like maybe the fact that maze numbers were bad
- 35:52Speaker 7: against cover six was really maze numbers against the Seahawks
- 35:55Speaker 7: were bad, which is a lot of people's numbers against
- 35:58Speaker 7: the Seahawks defense are bad. Um, versus like, this is
- 36:01Speaker 7: an actual kryptonite for Drake may, or maybe some of
- 36:04Speaker 7: it's just that they've figured out some ways that they
- 36:07Speaker 7: know it's coming and they, they figured out some beaters
- 36:09Speaker 7: for it as well.
- 36:10Speaker 1: So I think it's a little bit of both. Okay.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Um, all right.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Uh, eight, five, five past 500. Uh, let's go to
- 36:19Speaker 1: Boston cream.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Who's on the line. What's up, Boston cream.
- 36:22Speaker 4: Yo, yo donut. Hey guys.
- 36:24Speaker 13: What a game.
- 36:25Speaker 15: What jerseys?
- 36:25Speaker 5: What a city.
- 36:26Speaker 2: I had an absolute blast.
- 36:28Speaker 5: Um, Alex, you.
- 36:30Speaker 15: Already know you're the MVP. Thanks a lot.
- 36:33Speaker 13: And then I just want to say I like the
- 36:35Speaker 13: fact that this team is getting some adversity.
- 36:37Speaker 15: Yesterday, or last year, sorry, kind of felt like the
- 36:41Speaker 15: little brother that never got bullied, but.
- 36:42Speaker 7: This year we're kind of like the eldest child who
- 36:45Speaker 7: is getting bullied and is going to grow up a
- 36:46Speaker 7: little tougher.
- 36:48Speaker 15: I will say I'm a little worried about our offensive line.
- 36:51Speaker 15: PFF has it as the sixth worst in the league,
- 36:54Speaker 15: which is fine because there's injuries, but.
- 36:57Speaker 1: I like that.
- 36:57Speaker 15: We're back to the scrappy Patriots.
- 36:59Speaker 1: What do you guys think? Yeah. I mean, listen, you know,
- 37:03Speaker 1: iron sharpens iron adversity, all that stuff, Boston cream. So again,
- 37:09Speaker 1: you are learning about who you are early in the season.
- 37:12Speaker 1: You're learning what your depth is like early in the season,
- 37:16Speaker 1: you know, and I think it's better to do that
- 37:18Speaker 1: than later in the season. So Vrabel can have an
- 37:21Speaker 1: idea of who we can depend on later on. So,
- 37:24Speaker 1: I mean, you can look at it with a silver
- 37:25Speaker 1: lining that way, and they're 3-2. If they were 1-4,
- 37:30Speaker 1: I might be thinking differently about that, but they're coming
- 37:34Speaker 1: out of this thing.
- 37:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I think sometimes early in the season you're just
- 37:37Speaker 4: trying to tread water, figure it out, find what you're
- 37:39Speaker 4: good at, find your team identity. I think it's happening
- 37:42Speaker 4: a little faster this year, especially on the defensive side
- 37:44Speaker 4: of the ball. Injuries, I think, have hurt the offense
- 37:47Speaker 4: a little more. But I'd also say, I think, just
- 37:49Speaker 4: a testament to Zach core being able to kind of
- 37:51Speaker 4: scheme around the injuries that they have, even though they
- 37:53Speaker 4: haven't quite been as big as the offense.
- 37:55Speaker 1: I'll stop there. Cause you know, we've heard this before
- 37:58Speaker 1: when teams go on runs early and it's like, it'd
- 38:00Speaker 1: be really better if they lost, you know, because I
- 38:04Speaker 1: don't buy into that, you know, like if you're good
- 38:07Speaker 1: and you win, you win. You know, these guys, all
- 38:11Speaker 1: these guys have lost in their careers. They know what
- 38:13Speaker 1: losing is like. So, you know, you don't have to
- 38:15Speaker 1: have a loss to get, you know, keep them going.
- 38:19Speaker 4: I think you see the rollercoaster early on for most teams.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Look at Seattle.
- 38:24Speaker 4: They're in a little bit of a rollercoaster themselves. I
- 38:26Speaker 4: think they're still a good team, but it just takes
- 38:28Speaker 4: a little while to get your identity. You think you're
- 38:32Speaker 4: the same team as you were last year, and I
- 38:34Speaker 4: think teams realize pretty quick, and they should know it
- 38:36Speaker 4: going in, most of them do, that you're not going
- 38:38Speaker 4: to be the same team, and you're going to have
- 38:39Speaker 4: to probably do it.
- 38:40Speaker 1: I know there's some teams right now with really good records,
- 38:42Speaker 1: like the Vikings, but I don't look at anybody in
- 38:45Speaker 1: this league right now as dominant. Like, I don't think
- 38:49Speaker 1: there's a standout team yet.
- 38:52Speaker 4: I mean, San Francisco is probably closest to it.
- 38:54Speaker 1: They have a bunch of interjuries themselves. And Kansas City
- 38:57Speaker 1: has played really well. Well, the fact that they're getting through,
- 39:00Speaker 1: the fact that they have the record they have with
- 39:02Speaker 1: the injuries they have is testament to your guy.
- 39:05Speaker 2: They did the same thing last year. It's almost like
- 39:07Speaker 2: he's a good coach.
- 39:08Speaker 4: No, I'm interested with Kansas City and, you know, Kenneth Walker,
- 39:11Speaker 4: how that continues. I mean, can they maintain that level
- 39:14Speaker 4: of run game?
- 39:16Speaker 1: That's deadly.
- 39:16Speaker 4: I mean, you give Drake May that run game. I mean,
- 39:19Speaker 4: any good quarterback has a guy you can just hand
- 39:21Speaker 4: off to, and it might be a huge explosive play.
- 39:23Speaker 1: But I think there's no team that's unbeatable. I think
- 39:26Speaker 1: they all have flaws in some way. Yeah.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Agree with that.
- 39:30Speaker 7: I think Kansas City's been impressive just kind of reinventing
- 39:33Speaker 7: themselves a little bit offensively, and you always respect Spags
- 39:38Speaker 7: on the defensive side of the ball. I don't think
- 39:39Speaker 7: their defense has been great, but I think that he
- 39:42Speaker 7: is great. So you always expect to get a good
- 39:45Speaker 7: game plan and a tough, chess match whenever you go
- 39:49Speaker 7: out up against Spag. So they've been pretty good. The
- 39:53Speaker 7: Niners obviously have been good. I agree with you about Minnesota, though.
- 39:56Speaker 7: I think, you know, especially Kyler. Let's let's see post
- 39:59Speaker 7: Thanksgiving Kyler. It is second half of his seasons. He
- 40:02Speaker 7: tends to fall off a cliff. So I'm interested to
- 40:06Speaker 7: see if he can maintain it. He couldn't in Arizona
- 40:08Speaker 7: every year. The splits were like. after Halloween, after Thanksgiving,
- 40:12Speaker 7: second half of the season, because he just breaks down physically.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Brandon's in Pennsylvania. What's up, Brandon?
- 40:19Speaker 4: Hey, you.
- 40:22Speaker 9: Guys.
- 40:23Speaker 15: Long-time listener, first-time caller.
- 40:24Speaker 1: How are you guys doing? Good.
- 40:27Speaker 16: Hey, I love you guys all.
- 40:28Speaker 13: Listen to you all the time.
- 40:29Speaker 1: I have a couple things.
- 40:30Speaker 2: There's two.
- 40:31Speaker 13: First things first, I know.
- 40:33Speaker 11: The biggest thing is I know a lot of people
- 40:35Speaker 11: hated on the team for a little bit there.
- 40:36Speaker 15: They're doing a lot better now.
- 40:37Speaker 2: It's great.
- 40:38Speaker 13: This is awesome.
- 40:39Speaker 15: The biggest thing is I know some people have a
- 40:41Speaker 15: hard time.
- 40:41Speaker 13: Realizing these guys do have a life.
- 40:43Speaker 16: You know, they're humans outside of the field.
- 40:46Speaker 1: I know Eli Raritan. I don't know if you guys
- 40:48Speaker 1: heard the news, but he had a loss.
- 40:49Speaker 15: And, you know, I pray for.
- 40:51Speaker 13: Him and his family.
- 40:53Speaker 4: But at the end of the day, you know, that's
- 40:56Speaker 4: the biggest thing is these guys are players.
- 40:58Speaker 2: They're humans and everything. You know, I appreciate everything they do.
- 41:01Speaker 17: And, you know, that's the thing, too.
- 41:03Speaker 13: You know, we're doing good now.
- 41:05Speaker 11: The thing I have a question about, though, is I
- 41:07Speaker 11: really want to support Eli Raritan, and I've been trying
- 41:09Speaker 11: to get my.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Hands on an Eli Raritan jersey that fits.
- 41:12Speaker 13: I've not been able to find.
- 41:13Speaker 1: One that's a good quality.
- 41:14Speaker 5: I don't know if you guys know something, you know,
- 41:16Speaker 5: being close.
- 41:16Speaker 1: To the building.
- 41:17Speaker 4: Yeah, you can get them made at the pro shop. Yeah,
- 41:20Speaker 4: but he's in Pennsylvania. I think you can get them made.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Can you get– Fanatics doesn't sell custom jerseys that you
- 41:27Speaker 1: can have made with the number you want and name?
- 41:30Speaker 4: I'm not sure.
- 41:30Speaker 13: The problem is I'm looking for a stitched jersey, not
- 41:33Speaker 13: a vinyl.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I mean. They don't do that?
- 41:37Speaker 2: That's a good point.
- 41:38Speaker 13: No, right now we're all sold out everywhere.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Okay, well maybe why don't you leave your name and
- 41:46Speaker 1: number with Matt. and maybe we can help you out.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Because I know here at the Pro Shop they do that.
- 41:52Speaker 1: Maybe we can help you out. I don't know if
- 41:54Speaker 1: they do that. I don't know about the stitch ones. Oh,
- 41:55Speaker 1: they don't do the stitch ones?
- 41:57Speaker 2: I'm not sure. I don't want to speak.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Fancy pants ones.
- 42:00Speaker 2: I've only ever gotten that. We'll look into that. We'll inquire.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Maybe if somebody from the Pro Shop's listening, you can
- 42:06Speaker 1: email in and let us know if you do custom-stitched
- 42:09Speaker 1: authentic jerseys.
- 42:11Speaker 2: Or just have an Eli Raritan one. Yeah, or have
- 42:13Speaker 2: a Raritan jersey.
- 42:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Okay, what size are you?
- 42:16Speaker 1: I just want to support him. I'm a large. Large.
- 42:19Speaker 15: If it's the elite jersey or something, it's going to.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Be a 44. Okay.
- 42:23Speaker 2: That's actually, believe it or not, the larges are hard
- 42:25Speaker 2: to find because everybody's a large.
- 42:27Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. That's actually probably the hardest one to find.
- 42:30Speaker 2: They run out.
- 42:31Speaker 1: Let's go to stay in Pennsylvania. We'll go to Patrick.
- 42:34Speaker 1: What's up, Patrick? Hey. Hey, everyone.
- 42:37Speaker 16: First off, Duke did a hell of a job filling
- 42:39Speaker 16: in for Forrest on Catch-22.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 42:41Speaker 4: I tried hard.
- 42:43Speaker 16: Earlier statement. You could have argued a bit more with
- 42:45Speaker 16: them and get them fired up, but.
- 42:48Speaker 4: I think Evan liked it.
- 42:49Speaker 16: The reason I'm actually calling is, looking ahead, it's funny enough,
- 42:55Speaker 16: this weekend is the Patriots' last 1 p.m. game in
- 42:58Speaker 16: Week 16.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I know.
- 43:03Speaker 16: Last year, opponents aside, it felt like the team really
- 43:05Speaker 16: got into a groove, and maybe it was because of
- 43:07Speaker 16: a consistent schedule. Now, with littered 4 o'clock, West Coast, Germany, Monday,
- 43:13Speaker 16: Sunday night, Do you think that it could hurt the
- 43:17Speaker 16: momentum that the team seems to be building right now?
- 43:20Speaker 2: It could.
- 43:21Speaker 1: I mean, or you could say that, you know, they
- 43:23Speaker 1: went on a run because of the opponents last year,
- 43:25Speaker 1: or you could look at it, you know, you could
- 43:29Speaker 1: look at it as glass half full and say, you know,
- 43:31Speaker 1: because of the weird schedule coming up, it'll keep them focused.
- 43:35Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 43:35Speaker 1: It won't let them get into a, you know, kind
- 43:38Speaker 1: of a thing. It'll every week will be something different. And,
- 43:41Speaker 1: you know, they'll have to be alert to the schedule.
- 43:43Speaker 1: They'll have to be on. you know, keeps them more focused, maybe.
- 43:47Speaker 1: You know, you could look at it that way, too.
- 43:49Speaker 4: I mean, they've got five games left in front of
- 43:50Speaker 4: a national audience. I mean, starting with the Bears on
- 43:52Speaker 4: Thursday night. I mean, then they're in Munich, which is
- 43:55Speaker 4: also kind of a, you know, sustained international audience. Island
- 43:58Speaker 4: is the only game, right, is the only game. Thursday
- 44:01Speaker 4: night football with the Vikings, great. You know, Monday night
- 44:03Speaker 4: with the Chiefs. I think playing in those big national
- 44:07Speaker 4: games helps kind of offset, like, when you're just at
- 44:09Speaker 4: the 1 p.m., you're kind of under the radar a
- 44:11Speaker 4: little bit, but... And I understand what he's saying, but
- 44:13Speaker 4: I think you're also, when you're playing on a national stage,
- 44:16Speaker 4: especially those Vikings and Chiefs games, I think those are
- 44:18Speaker 4: going to be super impactful. That three-game stretch, Bills, Vikings,
- 44:22Speaker 4: that Chiefs, that's going to be a huge stretch.
- 44:25Speaker 9: I also think the team just got so juiced for
- 44:27Speaker 9: those primetime games last year.
- 44:28Speaker 1: I would hope it would be the same this year.
- 44:30Speaker 3: Remember the energy last year? The rivalry game. Oh, my God.
- 44:34Speaker 3: Injected into my veins. It was so fun.
- 44:36Speaker 1: So cool.
- 44:38Speaker 7: This is something, like, when we got the schedule, I...
- 44:41Speaker 7: I think this is the hardest part about the schedule. Like,
- 44:44Speaker 7: I never really bought that, like, oh, this is a
- 44:46Speaker 7: much tougher schedule. I think the toughest part about this
- 44:49Speaker 7: schedule is that there's a lot of travel. There's a
- 44:52Speaker 7: lot of weird, like, Thursday night short games. And then
- 44:55Speaker 7: they go to Germany. Then they got to go to L.A.,
- 44:59Speaker 7: West Coast on Thanksgiving weekend. And, like, all these different
- 45:02Speaker 7: types of things. And I guarantee you, knowing Mike Vrabel
- 45:05Speaker 7: and Stretcher, they have thought about this a lot of, like,
- 45:08Speaker 7: how to kind of navigate the team through this now.
- 45:11Speaker 7: There's a couple games, the Chargers flexing maybe.
- 45:16Speaker 1: They could get flexed.
- 45:17Speaker 7: Yeah, because there's a couple teams on the schedule that
- 45:20Speaker 7: are in prime time right now that aren't necessarily, they're
- 45:22Speaker 7: not having great seasons. It's not the Patriots, it's them,
- 45:25Speaker 7: especially the Chargers one. But I think that is a
- 45:30Speaker 7: tricky part about this schedule here coming up. Selfishly, I
- 45:33Speaker 7: hate it as well. But I also, just looking at
- 45:35Speaker 7: it from their perspective, there's travel, there's weird times, there's
- 45:40Speaker 7: weird kickoff times, and I'm sure that Stretch and the
- 45:44Speaker 7: training staff and Vrabel are thinking a lot about that.
- 45:46Speaker 2: All right.
- 45:47Speaker 1: Time to take a break. You're going to get some tea, Evan?
- 45:51Speaker 4: Get the tea?
- 45:51Speaker 1: Cup of tea? Cup of tea. All right. When we
- 45:55Speaker 1: come back, more calls and emails and, of course, picks
- 45:57Speaker 1: at the end of the show.

- 48:00Speaker 5: What was it like having AJ out there today and how.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Did he look?
- 48:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's awesome.
- 48:05Speaker 11: It's always, you know, it was a warm welcome in
- 48:08Speaker 11: the huddle to have him back in there. So, you know,
- 48:10Speaker 11: looking forward to You'll see him progress, and it's always
- 48:14Speaker 11: great seeing.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Him back out there.
- 48:15Speaker 11: I think you'd have to ask him how he felt,
- 48:17Speaker 11: but I think it's.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Good to see him back out there, that's for sure.
- 48:24Speaker 20: What's it been like being next to him in the
- 48:26Speaker 20: locker room and having a chance to pick his brain,
- 48:29Speaker 20: even though he hasn't been playing as much as he
- 48:30Speaker 20: would like lately?
- 48:33Speaker 11: No, he's a pro. I think you can see by
- 48:36Speaker 11: the way he carries himself, how well he cares about players,
- 48:38Speaker 11: and he's always– I've been impressed. You can kind of
- 48:42Speaker 11: see with how closely he's watching the games and the
- 48:46Speaker 11: little things he picks up on, you can tell he's
- 48:47Speaker 11: really watching and cares. Just a great teammate from what
- 48:51Speaker 11: I've experienced here with him. He's looking forward to getting back.
- 48:55Speaker 11: I know he's got a big smile. He's got a
- 48:57Speaker 11: contagious smile. It's good seeing that in the locker room.
- 48:59Speaker 11: I enjoy being near it every day.
- 49:03Speaker 4: What can he bring to the offense?
- 49:05Speaker 2: What can he add to the offense?
- 49:07Speaker 11: I mean, I think you know where you're going to end.
- 49:08Speaker 11: I mean, he's been a player in this league. It's
- 49:09Speaker 11: not like we haven't seen him, you know, been a
- 49:12Speaker 11: player in this league. So, he's– there's not many like
- 49:16Speaker 11: him that roam around in this league.
- 49:18Speaker 1: So, I'll just try to do my best.
- 49:20Speaker 11: To give him some chances and keep on spreading the
- 49:21Speaker 11: ball around for guys that are open.
- 49:23Speaker 1: And we've had a lot of guys step up.
- 49:24Speaker 11: So looking forward to keeping that kind of rolling and
- 49:26Speaker 11: adding in another piece whenever he feels like he's ready
- 49:30Speaker 11: to get out there.
- 49:31Speaker 16: When you have a.
- 49:31Speaker 1: Guy like that on the field, when you talk about
- 49:34Speaker 1: spreading the ball around, typically a lot of defenses will
- 49:36Speaker 1: focus more on A.J.
- 49:37Speaker 5: Given what he can do.
- 49:39Speaker 3: Does that almost like help the other receivers?
- 49:41Speaker 9: Do you feel like it can just, they could be
- 49:43Speaker 9: more open potentially with having a guy like that?
- 49:44Speaker 1: Oh, for sure.
- 49:45Speaker 11: I think it definitely, I think it definitely opens up,
- 49:47Speaker 11: you know, other parts of the field and other parts
- 49:49Speaker 11: of the game for guys. I think you see it
- 49:51Speaker 11: in the NBA, you know, almost it's probably the closest
- 49:54Speaker 11: thing that I can think of, you know, when they
- 49:55Speaker 11: start doubling the best player once they get past half
- 49:57Speaker 11: court and then they're just leaving a corner three open
- 50:01Speaker 11: or leaving a guy open for a dunk. So that's
- 50:03Speaker 11: kind of how we're playing receiver and with a guy
- 50:05Speaker 11: like that. And we've got a lot of guys that
- 50:06Speaker 11: have made plays now. So it's going to be, tough
- 50:09Speaker 11: on defenses, but I know we had a tough challenge
- 50:10Speaker 11: this week. So, looking forward to it.
- 50:13Speaker 5: What stands out for you the most about that?
- 50:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they're physical. I think they're tenacity.
- 50:17Speaker 11: I think they got a, they kind of got a,
- 50:18Speaker 11: you know, I wouldn't say a new kind of, you know, ferociousness, but,
- 50:23Speaker 11: you know, from last year, you can kind of see
- 50:25Speaker 11: it on tape, the difference. They had a little, you know,
- 50:26Speaker 11: some new faces, some mentality. I think they're buying into
- 50:29Speaker 11: really what, you know, Coach Glenn, how he wants to
- 50:31Speaker 11: play defense. And I think that you respect that. You
- 50:33Speaker 11: can see that on film. It pops out to you. So,
- 50:35Speaker 11: they do a good job on the back end of
- 50:36Speaker 11: mixing it up and, and also getting on you and
- 50:38Speaker 11: grabbing you and playing physical. So you can see that
- 50:41Speaker 11: they kind of are building something on defense, and it's
- 50:44Speaker 11: really a show this year with how they played. It
- 50:47Speaker 11: seems like we've seen more wrinkles from the offense in
- 50:48Speaker 11: the past couple weeks, like you need formations and motion.
- 50:51Speaker 2: Is it intentional to start the year with more of
- 50:53Speaker 2: like a foundational kind of offense, I would guess, and
- 50:56Speaker 2: then build on it?
- 50:56Speaker 13: And what's that like for you when you do start
- 50:58Speaker 13: to see the different layers of the offense kind of build?
- 51:00Speaker 11: Yeah, I think you have to have a core that you–
- 51:02Speaker 11: kind of lean on and kind of go back to
- 51:04Speaker 11: kind of some of your bread and butter plays. And
- 51:06Speaker 11: then also at the same time, you've got to be
- 51:07Speaker 11: able to change it up, mix it up, kind of
- 51:09Speaker 11: add new looks and build off those looks. And I
- 51:11Speaker 11: think that's one of the best things about our coaching
- 51:12Speaker 11: staff and what they do and what Coach McDaniels has
- 51:15Speaker 11: done in his career. He's got every little tool in
- 51:19Speaker 11: the toolbox to bring out. So I think some of
- 51:21Speaker 11: those things are nice to change it up and kind
- 51:23Speaker 11: of keep the defense on their heels. And at the
- 51:25Speaker 11: same time, some of our bread and butter plays are
- 51:27Speaker 11: stuff that we know best and can run best.
- 51:31Speaker 5: In terms of spreading the ball around, is this something
- 51:33Speaker 5: that you're consciously trying to establish in this offense, or
- 51:36Speaker 5: is it more about defense to dictate where the ball goes?
- 51:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I try not to.
- 51:41Speaker 11: You'll have that in the back of my mind. I've been,
- 51:43Speaker 11: you know, I was like that a little bit in
- 51:45Speaker 11: high school, to be honest with you, of, you know, wanting,
- 51:47Speaker 11: you know, especially when we would run it up on
- 51:49Speaker 11: teams in high school to try to spread it around
- 51:50Speaker 11: and get guys' touches. But at this level, I'm just
- 51:53Speaker 11: trying to, you know, whatever defense feels like, It gives
- 51:55Speaker 11: us opportunities to make plays. I'm trying to make the
- 51:58Speaker 11: first guy open. It's what Coach Rabel always says, keep
- 52:00Speaker 11: it that simple. First guy open, throw it to him, and.
- 52:02Speaker 5: Let him run.
- 52:03Speaker 11: I've been trying to buy into that. I'm just trying
- 52:06Speaker 11: to find positive plays. I feel like we've done that
- 52:07Speaker 11: these past couple weeks. If you've really seen that in
- 52:10Speaker 11: the running game, kind of build into the passing game
- 52:12Speaker 11: and the play action.
- 52:13Speaker 20: You obviously haven't had many game reps with A.J., but
- 52:16Speaker 20: even in practice, is it hard? not to want to
- 52:19Speaker 20: funnel targets his way, just knowing what his resume is
- 52:21Speaker 20: and everything he's done in this league. Is that something
- 52:24Speaker 20: you might have to kind of contend with whenever he
- 52:26Speaker 20: does play again?
- 52:27Speaker 11: I think it's the natural flow of the game. I
- 52:28Speaker 11: think he understands it. He understands it could be early on.
- 52:30Speaker 11: It could be really early and it could be later.
- 52:32Speaker 1: In the game.
- 52:33Speaker 11: I think he understands that and he understands the offense.
- 52:36Speaker 11: And I think Coach McDaniels is one of the best.
- 52:38Speaker 11: He's done it with a bunch of these players, a bunch.
- 52:40Speaker 1: Of guys at this level.
- 52:42Speaker 11: And just knowing that personnel and what we do on offense,
- 52:46Speaker 11: we've got to be able to you know, still in all,
- 52:48Speaker 11: you know, all phases of the game. You can't just
- 52:50Speaker 11: kind of, you go out there and drop back and say,
- 52:52Speaker 11: you know, where's AJ and let it rip. But at
- 52:54Speaker 11: the same time, sometimes you can't.
- 52:56Speaker 1: We saw Chris in on the field today for the
- 52:58Speaker 1: first time in a couple of weeks. What's it like
- 53:00Speaker 1: getting a chance to go again, go up against him
- 53:02Speaker 1: once again?
- 53:03Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 53:03Speaker 11: Guns was one of my favorite players to watch. You know,
- 53:04Speaker 11: I love competing against him. Um, we've, um, we've had
- 53:07Speaker 11: some battles and he's, um, he's fun to throw at.
- 53:10Speaker 11: And I think it's one of the coolest things to
- 53:12Speaker 11: see him, you know, go up against other players and
- 53:14Speaker 11: that challenge and how smooth and, um, I always try
- 53:17Speaker 11: to help him give me some extra swag. He doesn't
- 53:20Speaker 11: like my swag, but it's always nice seeing Gonzo back
- 53:24Speaker 11: out there. Afton's made some tough catches over the last
- 53:26Speaker 11: couple weeks. What's that do for a quarterback where you
- 53:29Speaker 11: feel like you can kind of throw it anywhere and
- 53:30Speaker 11: he's going.
- 53:31Speaker 1: To come down?
- 53:31Speaker 11: He's a confidence builder. Like I said, the one in
- 53:33Speaker 11: Buffalo before, the one-hander, the one over the middle, jumping up.
- 53:36Speaker 11: He made another one last week. Bull's confidence is going
- 53:40Speaker 11: high over the middle. That's something that you don't love
- 53:43Speaker 11: to see come out high over the middle. When you
- 53:45Speaker 11: see a guy go up and make a play and
- 53:46Speaker 11: You know, Max liked that the same way. I think
- 53:48Speaker 11: it's just, you know.
- 53:49Speaker 1: It's trust.
- 53:50Speaker 11: It builds trust, and it builds for me to let
- 53:52Speaker 11: it rip and fire it in there.
- 53:54Speaker 1: And now, great moments in history.
- 54:00Speaker 2: Manny's in Manchester, New Hampshire. What's up, Manny? Manny Chester.
- 54:03Speaker 13: I was listening to yesterday's podcast. At one point in time,
- 54:07Speaker 13: Paul called, no, a mediocre coach.
- 54:11Speaker 4: Oh, no, no, no, no.
- 54:12Speaker 1: No, I did not. Stop it.
- 54:14Speaker 13: Yes, you did.
- 54:14Speaker 2: Stop it.
- 54:15Speaker 1: You're embarrassing yourself.
- 54:21Speaker 6: I did not call Bill a mediocre coach. I'm sorry.
- 54:24Speaker 6: It was taken out of context. That's like Fred said
- 54:27Speaker 6: that he doesn't think that Mac Jones is very good.
- 54:30Speaker 6: That's not what he meant. It was something about something different.
- 54:33Speaker 6: I've never thought of Bill as a mediocre coach, and
- 54:35Speaker 6: I've never said that he's a mediocre coach.
- 54:38Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 54:39Speaker 6: I might have said something like this, if you want
- 54:42Speaker 6: to listen. He's had eight-plus years without Tom Brady as
- 54:45Speaker 6: his quarterback, and in those years, he's been a mediocre coach.
- 54:49Speaker 2: That's what you said. That's what I said.
- 54:51Speaker 1: I remember that.
- 54:52Speaker 13: Oh, that's what I was referring to.
- 54:53Speaker 15: It's like you called him a mediocre coach then.
- 54:55Speaker 2: Without Tom Brady. Without Tom Brady. Very important qualifier.
- 54:58Speaker 1: There, Manny.
- 54:59Speaker 15: Well, I think then everybody's a mediocre coach because they
- 55:02Speaker 15: don't have Tom Brady then.
- 55:03Speaker 1: Andy Reid's not a mediocre coach.
- 55:06Speaker 2: That's a good point, Carla.
- 55:07Speaker 1: That's another great moment from Patriots Unfiltered. All right, back
- 55:12Speaker 1: here on Patriots Unfiltered, 855-PATS-500 is the hotline podcast at Patriots.com.
- 55:18Speaker 2: But, Deuce, you have some information.
- 55:20Speaker 1: That's right.
- 55:20Speaker 4: It's time for the co-pilot question of the week presented
- 55:22Speaker 4: by Microsoft Co-Pilot, where every day is game day and
- 55:24Speaker 4: where every decision is powered by insight and innovation. Microsoft
- 55:27Speaker 4: technology helps to make decisions faster, insight sharper, and strategies
- 55:31Speaker 4: more efficient. Adaptive. So, guys, we're talking about the Jets
- 55:33Speaker 4: this week. I don't have a question for Paul, so
- 55:35Speaker 4: I'm going to ask Evan this one.
- 55:37Speaker 1: Oh, boy.
- 55:38Speaker 4: The Patriots did go on a 15-game win streak against
- 55:42Speaker 4: the Jets. They did not lose to them from 2016
- 55:44Speaker 4: until 2023. They did lose two games in the mid-2000s,
- 55:50Speaker 4: one of which was to Geno Smith. Do you recall
- 55:52Speaker 4: which two games those were that they lost in between?
- 55:55Speaker 4: And those losses came in between 2011 and 2016. 2011
- 55:56Speaker 4: and 2016.
- 56:02Speaker 1: Remember the Geno Smith one? That was in overtime. What
- 56:04Speaker 1: year was that?
- 56:08Speaker 2: Ooh, 2014, 2015?
- 56:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:11Speaker 2: I'm trying to go back and, like, what stage of
- 56:14Speaker 2: my life was I in when that happened?
- 56:15Speaker 4: These were both overtime wins for the Jets, too, by
- 56:18Speaker 4: the way. I definitely remember the Geno one. You might
- 56:21Speaker 4: remember a certain defensive lineman I think got called on a.
- 56:26Speaker 4: On a field goal attempt, I think for like pushing
- 56:27Speaker 4: Joe Villano.
- 56:28Speaker 2: Was that, that was that one?
- 56:30Speaker 1: Not Joe, Chris Jones. I think the other, the other guy,
- 56:32Speaker 1: not our, yeah. Okay. Yeah.
- 56:36Speaker 7: I vaguely remember that. I definitely remember the Gino one though. That,
- 56:38Speaker 7: that game, that stunk.
- 56:40Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 56:41Speaker 1: That was a tough one.
- 56:41Speaker 2: What year was the, uh, uh, Bart Scott?
- 56:45Speaker 4: Oh, can't wait. That was the playoff game. 2010 playoff game.
- 56:48Speaker 15: 2010.
- 56:48Speaker 4: It tore our hearts out.
- 56:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:50Speaker 4: Mark Sanchez played the game of his life, but, A
- 56:53Speaker 4: couple other interesting things, though, I thought were, of course,
- 56:56Speaker 4: Bill Belichick hated the Jets, dominated the Jets, lost his
- 57:00Speaker 4: last game in the Patriots coach to the Jets for
- 57:02Speaker 4: the first time in a while. Of course, the Jets
- 57:04Speaker 4: had two wins there in 2024 from January in the
- 57:08Speaker 4: 2023 season and then September in the 2024 season. But
- 57:11Speaker 4: the Patriots are now again on a three-game win streak.
- 57:14Speaker 4: So no question, Patriots 77-56-1. against these Jets. And they're,
- 57:19Speaker 4: like I said, three wins straight against this team. Looking
- 57:21Speaker 4: to make a fourth this weekend. So there you go.
- 57:24Speaker 4: A little deep dive into the Patriots-Jets rivalry with Copilot.
- 57:27Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 57:28Speaker 4: Okay.
- 57:29Speaker 2: All right. Sounds good.
- 57:30Speaker 5: All right.
- 57:31Speaker 1: Back to the emails and back to the calls. We
- 57:34Speaker 1: got a lot of each. Let's go to Sean in Vancouver.
- 57:38Speaker 1: What's up, Sean?
- 57:41Speaker 15: I want to throw my two cents into the blowout versus.
- 57:45Speaker 6: The close game.
- 57:47Speaker 15: Argument okay now I'm I'm a Patriots fanatic I've been
- 57:51Speaker 15: rooting for this team for over 50 years before the
- 57:53Speaker 15: game I always want them to blow out the team
- 57:56Speaker 15: I'm dreaming of like sacks and touchdowns and interceptions fumble
- 58:03Speaker 15: recoveries I I just want them to win like 70
- 58:06Speaker 15: to nothing right but when I'm watching and when I'm
- 58:09Speaker 15: watching the game and it's a blowout I'm relaxed I'm
- 58:13Speaker 15: putting the lazy boy up. I'm leaning back. I'm sending
- 58:19Speaker 15: messages to my friends, joking around. It's a good time.
- 58:22Speaker 15: It's fun. But when it's a close game and it's
- 58:25Speaker 15: a good game, I'm pacing. I'm standing up out of
- 58:29Speaker 15: the chair. I'm just praying that the Patriots are going
- 58:34Speaker 15: to succeed. And it's really tense. And I'm very, very
- 58:38Speaker 15: much on edge.
- 58:39Speaker 5: It's very.
- 58:41Speaker 15: exciting. And like that bills game to me is like
- 58:43Speaker 15: an instant classic where, you know, a game like, uh,
- 58:48Speaker 15: what they had against the Raiders. Um, you know, after
- 58:51Speaker 15: that game, I can, um, I can go on and, and,
- 58:55Speaker 15: and do other things that my mind's off of it, but,
- 58:57Speaker 15: but on, on a close loss of man, like the
- 59:00Speaker 15: Seattle game, I can't, I can't sleep. But after like, uh,
- 59:03Speaker 15: the Jaguars game an hour later, I'm in the airport, uh,
- 59:06Speaker 15: writing an article. I can, I can go back to work.
- 59:08Speaker 13: I could do lots of things.
- 59:09Speaker 15: So it's, that's, I think where, where Paul coming from,
- 59:13Speaker 15: like where it's, it's a really close game. There's, there's
- 59:17Speaker 15: a lot that, that gets me emotionally and just gets
- 59:21Speaker 15: me excited into the game where I love them and
- 59:25Speaker 15: winning anyway, but I also love a huge victory, a blowout,
- 59:29Speaker 15: but it's just way easier.
- 59:30Speaker 1: Sure.
- 59:30Speaker 15: So I'll leave you at that.
- 59:31Speaker 2: Well, listen, you're human.
- 59:32Speaker 1: I mean, listen, I'm not going to deny that a
- 59:35Speaker 1: game like the 2018 AFC championship. She's one of the
- 59:39Speaker 1: greatest AFC championship games ever played.
- 59:42Speaker 2: What a thrill.
- 59:44Speaker 1: You would have rather blown them out. I wouldn't be
- 59:47Speaker 1: unhappy if they blow them out. Listen, one or two
- 59:49Speaker 1: games a year like that, fine. But I'd rather have
- 59:54Speaker 1: 15 games where I blow out my opponent and two...
- 59:57Speaker 1: real close games like that than the other way around.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: I want to just lay waste to whoever I'm playing.
- 1:00:05Speaker 9: It is less memorable that way, though.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: Oh, sure. 100%.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: Sure, they all blend into each other.
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: I don't know if it's because of trauma.
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: But what.
- 1:00:13Speaker 7: The 2018 AFC Championship game, it's like my Roman Empire.
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: I think about it like once a day.
- 1:00:18Speaker 18: Oh, yeah.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: I'm like.
- 1:00:20Speaker 7: I mean, that was the greatest sport event I've ever
- 1:00:24Speaker 7: been to.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: And I don't know if it will ever be topped.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: Like....
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: Those types of games, definitely. But at the same time,
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: you're also kind of pooping your pants a little bit
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: as you're watching it. Like, oh, God, please don't blow this.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Think about all the plays that if they just didn't
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: get that one play in the fourth quarter, it's over.
- 1:00:43Speaker 7: I saw Edelman talking about the punt that he made.
- 1:00:48Speaker 7: he didn't touch it or did he, you know, like
- 1:00:51Speaker 7: D Ford offsides, like these little things, like no doubt,
- 1:00:54Speaker 7: Alex is right. That that'd make that stands out in
- 1:00:56Speaker 7: your mind way more than a blowout.
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: Well, I looked at some of the biggest blowouts in
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: Patriots history. I think we all remember one of them
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: is very memorable. Do you remember which one it was?
- 1:01:04Speaker 7: The snow game, the snow game, the 59 and nothing
- 1:01:07Speaker 7: against the Titans.
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: Yeah. That one was memorable weather. Just a crazy blood.
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: A couple other ones that 2012, the bills 52 to 28, uh,
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: 2019 with Antonio Brown, 43-0 over the Dolphins.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: The Brian Flores Dolphins.
- 1:01:22Speaker 4: 1977, Fred, I don't know if you were a Jets
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: fan at that point, but they lost 56-3 to the Patriots.
- 1:01:27Speaker 4: And one more, the 07 team, the 56-10 at Buffalo.
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: Remember that one with Randy Moss?
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: That was snow, too.
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: That was, yeah.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: I feel like they were in their silver uniforms. I
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: don't know.
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: I have a picture of Randy Moss down the side.
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: I thought that was also in the snow, but maybe not.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: Franklin and Baltimore, no one can tell me during the
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: stretch in the 2000s when the real Super Bowl was
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: the regular season Brady versus Manning matchup that those games
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: weren't exhilarating. Yes, they did shave off years of every
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: Patriots fan's life, but they were also the litmus test
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: of how good the team was prior to the playoffs. And,
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: of course, when the Patriots won, it made you, as
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: a fan, all the more invested in the bragging rights.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: All right, but let's take the same scenario. Both teams
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: are doing really well. the Colts and the Patriots, and
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: it's Brady versus Manning. What if Brady blows them out
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: in those games?
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: I think that's even better.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: You know, now you played the best and you blew
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: them out. Isn't that as much a litmus test as
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: a close game would be?
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: I think, was it 20-3? Was that the 0-3 score?
- 1:02:29Speaker 4: I mean, which was a blowout? I mean, especially for
- 1:02:31Speaker 4: a team that didn't punt going into that game.
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: We all remember that.
- 1:02:34Speaker 8: Yeah, the.
- 1:02:37Speaker 7: The games that always stand out to me and those
- 1:02:38Speaker 7: are William McGinnis is goal line.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: Stop that one in, in the, in Indy.
- 1:02:43Speaker 7: And then I was at, uh, the 2013 Broncos game,
- 1:02:46Speaker 7: the 24 to three comeback.
- 1:02:48Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 1:02:48Speaker 7: And that, that was, uh, also until 28 to three happened.
- 1:02:52Speaker 7: That was, I think the biggest comeback in Patriots history.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:02:55Speaker 7: And, uh, that was a, that was a great, great game. And, um,
- 1:02:59Speaker 7: I think it was Welker, right? He fumbled muff, the
- 1:03:00Speaker 7: punt or something like that. Coming back to new.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: England and muff, the pun see new life.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: And, Bill letting no Sean Moreno does run the ball
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: at will because he.
- 1:03:10Speaker 7: Didn't want Peyton throwing. And that was a great kind
- 1:03:12Speaker 7: of an Edelman breakout game too. I remember getting a touchdown,
- 1:03:16Speaker 7: spiking it, diving into the end zone.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: It's funny though.
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: Like in your memory, like listening to you talk about
- 1:03:21Speaker 4: it on the same way, like you just have these
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: flashes of moments. Like you say a play and like
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: three flashes go through my mind of like just memorable plays,
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: like being so invested in it back then. And I
- 1:03:31Speaker 4: was about to say to like, I definitely get less
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: invested than I did as a fan, but I felt
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: like that Chargers playoff game last year, I felt kind
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: of like I had my fan juice going because I
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: just wanted to beat the Chargers so bad. I didn't
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: want to lose that game. You know, just win one
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: playoff game, prove that you're still above this Chargers team.
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: And I think I even surprised Paul when... When Drake
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: threw that touchdown to Hunter Henry, that was just gorgeous.
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: I mean, I like pushed back out of my seat.
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: I don't really show a lot of emotion, but I
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: got emotional in that game. That was fun.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: You know, it's like if you win that game in
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: a blowout, afterwards you can sit back and their entire
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: fan base just has to shut up. They have nothing
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: to say. There's no bad call that they can say
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: the ref made. That was the difference or turnover or
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: some crazy play. Like decisively you lay waste to them and–
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: You shut them up.
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: Well, that's like Kansas City fans bring up Dee Ford being.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: Offside all the time. Right.
- 1:04:26Speaker 7: Well, no offense or anything, but he was offside. So, like,
- 1:04:29Speaker 7: that's what the rule is.
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: But, you know, they always say, like, the Patriots didn't
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: win that game. The refs handed it to them, that.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: Sort of stuff. The Raiders still say it was a fumble.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Tom Brady kind of admitted it was. That was probably
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: a fumble.
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: That was more a fumble than Dee Ford not being offside.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: You mentioned, like, the Edelman– Didn't really touch. There's a
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: few of those plays too.
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: Alec in Berlin.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: Last week we talked about Evans' lackluster NFL game predictions
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: and the possibility that he misuses NFL stats to pick
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: his games. He claimed to not have time to watch games,
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: pay attention to stats of other teams, as well as
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: other excuses. I'm sure Fred has even less time, yet
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: still is a legend for his feel for the game. Anyway,
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: I believe I gave a solution for our quantitative challenge analyst,
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: For the fun of it, I used AI to pick
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: last week's game, including picks against the spread. The picks
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: went 10-3-1 straight up and 8-6 against the spread. Nice.
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: So I can just put it in the copilot and
- 1:05:27Speaker 4: I don't have to do this?
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: Anyway, it's all in good fun. I'm enjoying Evan's transformation
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: into Scal's true replacement. The program benefits from Scal-like characters,
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: especially in the offseason. And dear Matt, you promised to
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: send me a shirt last season and never arrived. I've
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: sent you my home address before. I'll send it again.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: Semper Fi.
- 1:05:47Speaker 7: I would say out of all of the things that
- 1:05:49Speaker 7: we do, all of the different pieces of content, Pix
- 1:05:53Speaker 7: is the least important one to me.
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: Well, it shouldn't be important. It's just fun.
- 1:05:59Speaker 7: So I like that suggestion because I can just feed
- 1:06:04Speaker 7: it into Copilot and then I can just hand it
- 1:06:06Speaker 7: to Paul on Thursdays and be like, Here are my picks.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: I'm out. Thank you.
- 1:06:10Speaker 9: Our marketing team should sell that to Microsoft. This newsletter
- 1:06:15Speaker 9: segment sponsored by Copilot. Evan's picks from via Copilot.
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: Picks by Copilot.
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: That's risky, though.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: Chris with a T-I-A-N writes in, Paul Lowe's blowouts. I mean,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: what would he have to talk about with his brother
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: on his trek home if the Patriots blow out the
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: Jets on Sunday? He needs the game to be close
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: because he needs something to complain about. He'd rather complain
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: about the refs or talk about how the running game
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: was not efficient, even though the team rushed 27 times
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: for 166 yards. But 82 of those yards came on
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: two plays, and the other 25 rushes only averaged 3.36
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: yards per carry.
- 1:06:51Speaker 7: My favorite part about those are like, that's the point
- 1:06:54Speaker 7: of the running game. The point of the running game
- 1:06:56Speaker 7: is that you run it and eventually you break one.
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: That's literally why you run the ball.
- 1:07:01Speaker 7: It's like, I understand what, you know, people say when
- 1:07:03Speaker 7: they say that, but they say it about Travion Henderson
- 1:07:05Speaker 7: all the time. They're like, well, if you take out
- 1:07:07Speaker 7: his 65 yard touchdown run and it's like one yard
- 1:07:09Speaker 7: to carry, it's kind of, that's the whole point.
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: You can't just take them out.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: That's kind of his thing.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: Let's see.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: Darius from Louisville. Hearing Drake's presser again makes me really
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: hate the questions you guys ask. I know it's not
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: you specifically, but good Lord, it grinds my gears. Taylor
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: and Evan are two of the few guys who ask
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: real questions, even if they won't get answered all the way.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: But come on now. These questions about AJ are ridiculous.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: Then they ask the same questions to every player.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: Do better. do better.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: I hear what you're saying, but most of these guys
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: are asking for TV. They have a two-minute segment and
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: it's mixed up with all the other sports going on. Celtics, Bruins.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: They have to get right to the big headline. All
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: they need is sound about a guy talking about A.J.
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: Brown.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: It's frustrating, but that's all they need. They don't care
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: about going in depth and the way tyler and evan
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: you know want to do yeah i don't have to
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: do that.
- 1:08:14Speaker 7: I think that there's a there's two different like priorities
- 1:08:17Speaker 7: at a press conference like taylor and i are trying
- 1:08:20Speaker 7: to learn from the guys and from the coaches i
- 1:08:22Speaker 7: would say.
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: A lot of people though are there to do a job.
- 1:08:25Speaker 7: And their job the headline of the day is that
- 1:08:27Speaker 7: a.j brown was back at practice right so they're writing
- 1:08:30Speaker 7: an article or they're writing doing a news hit or
- 1:08:32Speaker 7: something like that about a.j brown being back at practice
- 1:08:36Speaker 7: so those are questions that In a lot of ways,
- 1:08:38Speaker 7: it's kind of like polishing silverware. Like you just you
- 1:08:40Speaker 7: have to ask those questions and you have to get
- 1:08:42Speaker 7: Drake Mays take on A.J. Brown being back at practice
- 1:08:46Speaker 7: or you're not doing your job properly.
- 1:08:48Speaker 16: Right.
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: There's also people are just compelled to ask questions for
- 1:08:51Speaker 4: some reason.
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: I know where you're going with that.
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: There's also people like I don't think anyone reporting on.
- 1:09:00Speaker 9: A story, there's certain questions you're not going to ask
- 1:09:02Speaker 9: in a press conference because you don't want all the
- 1:09:04Speaker 9: other reporters to then have it and jump you on
- 1:09:06Speaker 9: what you're working on. So then there's a lot of
- 1:09:10Speaker 9: locker room stories that get worked on that people aren't
- 1:09:13Speaker 9: really hearing those questions being asked to.
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: Yeah, the podium press conferences are a lot more fun.
- 1:09:17Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: Surface level.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: Yeah. Let's go to, back to the hotline. We'll go
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: to Joe in Sweden. Joe in Sweden. Sweden.
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: What's up, guys?
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: Hey.
- 1:09:31Speaker 13: Hey. Hey, it's Joe Kim.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: Joe Kim. Joe Kim.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:09:37Speaker 5: Yeah, second time caller. I called in, I think it
- 1:09:41Speaker 5: was 14 years ago.
- 1:09:42Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:09:45Speaker 4: I wasn't even born.
- 1:09:46Speaker 5: I remember Andy made fun of me, so I've been
- 1:09:49Speaker 5: mad for 14 years, and here I am calling again.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: Well, that's a common theme with Andy Hart, for sure.
- 1:09:57Speaker 5: He didn't like my accent.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: What?
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: That's not right.
- 1:10:04Speaker 15: It's okay.
- 1:10:08Speaker 5: Bad Paul isn't there. I think yesterday he kind of
- 1:10:12Speaker 5: poo-pooed Andy. the pass rush, and it got me thinking
- 1:10:16Speaker 5: about Elijah Ponder. Like, Evan, what was the scouting report
- 1:10:23Speaker 5: on him exactly? Because I think he's been really, really good,
- 1:10:27Speaker 5: like really good.
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: I needed you yesterday on this.
- 1:10:30Speaker 7: So I heard a couple of these things, the blowout conversation.
- 1:10:33Speaker 7: Of course, I'm sick one day and all this stuff
- 1:10:35Speaker 7: happens that I missed.
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: I appreciate you calling this because I kind of, like,
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: Pushed back on Paul a little bit. I was terrified
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: when I did it, of course. But, no, I just
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: think Ponder and Nackis are good. And he was like, well,
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: I just haven't seen him set the edge that well.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: Paul rarely thinks anybody's good until it's proven. He won't
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: go on a limb, usually, to say, I think he's
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: going to be good.
- 1:10:58Speaker 7: Yeah, so we were talking about those two guys the
- 1:11:01Speaker 7: other day. We actually clipped it for one of our shorts,
- 1:11:03Speaker 7: and I undersold Ponder. He's on pace for 15 sacks,
- 1:11:06Speaker 7: not 12. He was 12 last week, and then he
- 1:11:08Speaker 7: had two in the game against the Raiders, one of
- 1:11:11Speaker 7: them being a strip sack. So I would say it's
- 1:11:15Speaker 7: not like they're the best edge group in the league.
- 1:11:18Speaker 7: I just think that they have outperformed expectations quite a
- 1:11:21Speaker 7: bit to start the season. So maybe there's a little
- 1:11:25Speaker 7: bit of truth to being in the middle where Paul is, maybe,
- 1:11:28Speaker 7: because it's not.
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: And I did the story on them last week, and
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: this was before the Raiders game.
- 1:11:32Speaker 12: They were 15th.
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: Uh, as a group and pressure rate.
- 1:11:36Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 1:11:36Speaker 7: So they're right in the middle of the pack, but
- 1:11:38Speaker 7: we thought that they were going to be like bottom
- 1:11:40Speaker 7: five in the league, not.
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: Middle of the pack.
- 1:11:43Speaker 7: So like the fact that they've gotten that, it's really
- 1:11:46Speaker 7: been just those three guys, Draymond Jones, Atkinson, Paul.
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: Can anything else?
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: Don't wait for it.
- 1:11:53Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: And thank you for having a better, uh, A phone connection,
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: even though you're from Sweden, then Christian in L.A.
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: And what I was kind of pushing back on Paul
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: was just that I'm not trying to tell you that
- 1:12:05Speaker 4: this is like DeMarcus Ware and Vaughn Miller.
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: It's just guys who play really well within the defense.
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: And this is, oh, by the way, a rookie who's
- 1:12:13Speaker 4: been playing for like two months now and a second-year
- 1:12:16Speaker 4: guy that was just a designated pass rusher last year.
- 1:12:19Speaker 4: So I'm just encouraged that these guys look solid. They
- 1:12:22Speaker 4: play within the scheme. uh they don't look like they're
- 1:12:25Speaker 4: out of position is it perfect no i think ponder's
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: got a little ways to go no mary is in
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: space but that's a common development from a guy who
- 1:12:31Speaker 4: went to cal poly and now is you know probably
- 1:12:34Speaker 4: was nothing more than a hand down go get the
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: quarterback guy um and i just love watching akis play
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: i just think it's so fun to put that guy
- 1:12:41Speaker 4: on and it's like oh they're gonna try to block
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: him with a tight end play you know yeah i
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: could watch his the other thing about paul is like
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: If fans start getting excited about a new guy, he
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: doesn't like that.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: He wants to bring you down. He doesn't like fans, period.
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: He's like a magnet, I feel like, though. Whatever force
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: he feels kind of building, he flips and goes the
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: opposite way.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: Especially if it's positive and it's fans. He doesn't think...
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: I don't know if he understands what it means to
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: be a fan. Fans get excited about their guys, and
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: they want to be positive and hopeful. The future's bright
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: and everything, and then you have the big letdown if
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: it isn't. I don't know if he's afraid to be
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: let down or if he just doesn't want fans to
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: be happy.
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: I'm not sure.
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: Somewhere he's in a hospital waiting room right now.
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: And I know we're, yeah, I know we're like psychoanalyzing Paul.
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: At least it's not me.
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: So like, it's not him. You're next.
- 1:13:36Speaker 7: But I, I, I really think it's the, I, I,
- 1:13:39Speaker 7: I think when the more and the longer that you
- 1:13:41Speaker 7: do this job, the more detached you get from being
- 1:13:43Speaker 7: a fan.
- 1:13:43Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:13:44Speaker 7: Like a true fan. And I feel like you just
- 1:13:46Speaker 7: sort of forget what it was like to like, watch
- 1:13:49Speaker 7: like a young Chandler Jones, like starting to come on
- 1:13:53Speaker 7: as a rookie.
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: And like, you know, that's my era. So that's why
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: I thought of Chandler Jones.
- 1:13:57Speaker 7: Like, that that's like how I, the piece of me
- 1:13:59Speaker 7: feels watching Gabe Ackes, like different kinds of players. But like,
- 1:14:03Speaker 7: I just, when I watch Ackes, I just get super excited.
- 1:14:06Speaker 7: I'm like, this guy is a fricking animal. Like, and like,
- 1:14:09Speaker 7: if you can just teach him some of like the
- 1:14:11Speaker 7: hand placement and the techniques and giving him some more
- 1:14:14Speaker 7: tricks up his sleeve and year two and year three,
- 1:14:17Speaker 7: like he's just going to take off. And I think
- 1:14:19Speaker 7: that maybe that, that excitement level is missed on Paul
- 1:14:21Speaker 7: just because he's not, he's removed from it.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, I don't know. I, you know, like
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: he is like, With Northeastern. He claims he's a huge
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: fan of Northeastern, but he badmouths them left and right.
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: I guess that's the right of a fan, to badmouth
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: the team.
- 1:14:37Speaker 7: But when you're looking at it from an objective... impartial
- 1:14:42Speaker 7: way all the time.
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: But fans aren't objective. They're fanatics.
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: But he's not a fan. He's a reporter. That's my point.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: But he doesn't report on Northeastern. I know, but he
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: can't help himself.
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: He loves Marcus Jones. He's playing his flag with Marcus Jones.
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: That's true. He loves him some Marcus Jones.
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: He loves really good athletes, I think. He despises try-hard guys.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:15:04Speaker 7: Maybe that's what it is with Akis. Maybe it's because
- 1:15:07Speaker 7: he's a motor player.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: He tries too hard. It's just like... I think it
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: started with Spike Owen.
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: Yeah, but Akis is also a genetic freak, too.
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: I know, I know.
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: He doesn't really.
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: A lot of his plays, though, are, like, hustle, like,
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: just straight-up sheer power and, like, things like that that, like, aren't...
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: You know, Ponder, though, is, like, Ponder is one of the... Like,
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: he's got a great speed rush.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: He's got the dip.
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: Like, he's got bend around the edge.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: He's around the ball. He's making plays.
- 1:15:31Speaker 7: And I like that they complement each other well, too. Like,
- 1:15:34Speaker 7: Akis is more of, like, a sturdy power player at...
- 1:15:36Speaker 7: Ponder gets off the ball, has got great speed.
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: They have a nice one-two thing going. You got all
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: three of these guys for the next season.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: I think you guys are underestimating Akis' speed. I think
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: he gets off the ball pretty well, too. He's a
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: speed-to-power guy. Speed-to-power.
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: My new favorite thing is like, It's going to be
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: a recurring TV show every week. They tried to block
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: Akis with a tight end.
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: You know, just cut the tape up. Poor Michael Mayer.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: Michael Mayer.
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: Kincaid.
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: Was it Kincaid, I think, too? It was just like, oh!
- 1:16:05Speaker 18: This is a lot.
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: This is a lot.
- 1:16:07Speaker 4: You're trying really hard right now.
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: There's his blind side, too, so you just see Kirk
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: just fall.
- 1:16:13Speaker 4: Oh, there he is.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: Falls on TV right now.
- 1:16:15Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: Repeat from Michael Mayer, too, by the way.
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: You were a big.
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: Fan of him.
- 1:16:20Speaker 4: You had a little Michael Mayer crush at the combine
- 1:16:22Speaker 4: a couple years ago.
- 1:16:23Speaker 7: He was like one of those, like, this guy's going
- 1:16:24Speaker 7: to be a senator or something someday.
- 1:16:27Speaker 9: You say that because you think he's going to see
- 1:16:28Speaker 9: your impression of him.
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: Yes, exactly.
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: I'm sure he's watching.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: Making fun of Michael Mayer. Anthony writes in, seeing Deuce
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: fill in for Barth on Catch-20 Deuce made me want
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: to see P.U.
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: Have Barth as a guest when he's back.
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: Would love to see the dynamic. That'd be a great crossover.
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: I think he's done it once. I think it was
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: one of.
- 1:16:46Speaker 7: The Thursday Night Football travel games.
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: That Fred and I.
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: Skeleton Crew show.
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: Yeah, it wasn't... I feel like I remember Fred saying, no,
- 1:16:54Speaker 4: stick around, and then Fred put him under the.
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: Put him under the hot lights.
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: Started grilling him about. Then made fun of him.
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: He has to quarantine for a little bit.
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:17:02Speaker 13: I mean.
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: I almost knocked me out with him.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: How long does strep take to get over?
- 1:17:07Speaker 4: A couple.
- 1:17:08Speaker 19: Really?
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: I don't know. That poor kid.
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: I don't know. Is he on medication?
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: Like what kind?
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: Antibiotics. But, yeah. Tylenol?
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: Got to be on antibiotics.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: Is it an antibiotic or something? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:17:20Speaker 4: I hope so. I mean, you just know, if Alex
- 1:17:22Speaker 4: Barth isn't at a thing during football season, it's serious.
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: He's got to be careful, though.
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: Strep's dangerous.
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: I'll give my wife credit because.
- 1:17:32Speaker 7: I texted him this morning to see if he was
- 1:17:34Speaker 7: going to be up for Catch-22, and Jess was like, Evan,
- 1:17:38Speaker 7: he's not doing the show.
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: Who's his backup at 98.5?
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: Is there a chance he could get Wally Pippen? That's true.
- 1:17:45Speaker 7: Maybe Ty or Matt Dollop is going to come in
- 1:17:47Speaker 7: and take his spot.
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: Back to the phones we go.
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: Ryan's in Virginia. What's up, Ryan?
- 1:17:56Speaker 13: Hey, how y'all doing today?
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: Good.
- 1:17:57Speaker 14: Good.
- 1:17:59Speaker 13: So I want to call in because I'm actually calling to,
- 1:18:03Speaker 13: I'm going to make this as a joke about Christian
- 1:18:05Speaker 13: and LA. I agree that we should bench Drake May
- 1:18:08Speaker 13: in the sense that when we're up three scores in
- 1:18:11Speaker 13: the fourth quarter, I don't want him out there. We've
- 1:18:15Speaker 13: had an injury-ridden season as it is. I don't want
- 1:18:18Speaker 13: to risk our quarterback in a completely meaningless point in
- 1:18:20Speaker 13: the game. Let me see some more Tommy Cutlets. Put
- 1:18:23Speaker 13: him out there. Let's see what he can do. And
- 1:18:27Speaker 13: let's see if he can not blow a 20-point lead.
- 1:18:29Speaker 13: Other than that, I'm really stoked about blowouts. I think
- 1:18:33Speaker 13: it's a better game for me to sit back and
- 1:18:36Speaker 13: watch every single time we score the ball. I'd like
- 1:18:40Speaker 13: to never see our punch play again, if we could. And, yeah, man,
- 1:18:44Speaker 13: I just wanted to put.
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: That out there. I thought it was a funny joke. Okay. Thanks, Ryan.
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: Well, funny enough.
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: Good stuff.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: I don't know if you have a career in stand-up,
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: but I like the effort. Speaking of the man, it's
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: Christian in L.A.
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: What's up?
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: What up?
- 1:19:01Speaker 13: Oh, boy.
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: You got a strap?
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: You sick, too?
- 1:19:03Speaker 10: How's my connection today?
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: Oh, it's good.
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: Sounds good.
- 1:19:06Speaker 10: Well, you know, Deuce, you may know this.
- 1:19:08Speaker 15: When you're in L.A.
- 1:19:09Speaker 10: And you're in the hills and valleys, sometimes your connection
- 1:19:12Speaker 10: isn't great.
- 1:19:13Speaker 4: Heck, yeah.
- 1:19:14Speaker 17: So that's that.
- 1:19:14Speaker 10: And I feel like, Deuce, you'll get this one, too.
- 1:19:17Speaker 10: Between Tanaka in Japan yesterday and this gentleman today, I
- 1:19:21Speaker 10: feel like the guy from.
- 1:19:22Speaker 13: Three Amigos when he goes, oh, we're infamous. What's that? Oh,
- 1:19:26Speaker 13: we're infamous.
- 1:19:27Speaker 10: Oh, so I'm infamous. Anyway, anyway, Fred, how could you
- 1:19:32Speaker 10: be surprised about Paul? Here is a man that loves
- 1:19:36Speaker 10: to be miserable. I mean, for God's sake, here's a
- 1:19:39Speaker 10: guy that does not even know the joy of watching
- 1:19:42Speaker 10: an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. A single movie, not one. So
- 1:19:46Speaker 10: it makes sense that he would want to be on
- 1:19:48Speaker 10: edge and involved in close games where he might lose
- 1:19:51Speaker 10: because that is the closest to misery he can get
- 1:19:54Speaker 10: while watching football. So it's no surprise that Paul feels
- 1:19:58Speaker 10: the way he does for me. The perfect solution would
- 1:20:00Speaker 10: be we win close games against the teams that we
- 1:20:05Speaker 10: were supposed to blow out, and we blow out teams
- 1:20:07Speaker 10: that we were supposed to lose to.
- 1:20:09Speaker 13: That would be awesome if we had a season like that.
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I like that. Okay.
- 1:20:14Speaker 13: I'll talk to you guys later.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: Yeah. All right.
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: Thanks, Christian.
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: That was a pretty tame call for Christian. Well, Paul's
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: not here to fight with him. He's not inspired to.
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: And he had a good connection.
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: Maybe....
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: The worst connection is the worst his calls are.
- 1:20:28Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: Maybe there's a tie in.
- 1:20:30Speaker 4: You can't hear all his solid takes.
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: Let's see. Jack in Ann Arbor has a hot take here.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: Hot take. I'm not sure it's a legal seafood fresh take.
- 1:20:41Speaker 17: Okay.
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: But it could be a hot take. He claims, or
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: he thinks, Accus is better than Chandler Jones.
- 1:20:48Speaker 16: Oh.
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: I don't know. What do you think?
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: I'm not ready to go there.
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: I'm not ready to go there yet either.
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: Chandler Jones had a really good career in Arizona.
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: He was a three down defensive end right out of
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: the gate. I mean, that, you know, exactly what that
- 1:20:59Speaker 4: Patriots team needed. But I, I enjoy watching Ackis more.
- 1:21:03Speaker 4: I mean, I would say maybe Chandler Jones was more
- 1:21:06Speaker 4: productive and all around kind of a guy, but. the
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: energy that gay back is plays with. It's just so,
- 1:21:12Speaker 4: so fun to watch.
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: Okay. Uh, Claire writes in, uh, hello everybody. Hello Marine. Uh,
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: if you find out about the Raritan stitch Jersey, I'm
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: another fan that would be interested. Um, as for fanatics,
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: I don't know about, uh, in the U S but
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: unfortunately in the UK fanatics is not that good, not
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: the greatest for customer service and is very expensive. Oh,
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: Getting quality apparel can be super tough, so any info
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: you guys find out is welcomed.
- 1:21:40Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 1:21:40Speaker 4: I used to, in my days, I would take to eBay.
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: I was an eBay master, and there's a lot of, like,
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: I have a stitched white.
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: Matt Morrell, do me a favor.
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: Send an email to Jim Scullins and ask him, do
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: we make authentic custom jerseys? Stitched, you know, stitched authentic
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: custom jerseys. Let's try to get an answer during the show.
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: But I found on eBay, you know, sometimes you're, Right.
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: Caution to the way you're taking a risk ordering off eBay.
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: But I got a white Brady jersey and it's awesome.
- 1:22:10Speaker 4: I mean, it's like the real deal. So I think that's.
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: The way to go now. ebay a nice classic piece.
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: Well china's where you get like a like yeah.
- 1:22:20Speaker 9: You get a cheap jersey to wear to a darty
- 1:22:23Speaker 9: on a saturday at your college.
- 1:22:25Speaker 4: Campus like this big on the back yeah that's what
- 1:22:29Speaker 4: i when we started talking about china alex has got
- 1:22:31Speaker 4: it no you gotta you hold your breath when you
- 1:22:33Speaker 4: open it that's why with that brady one i was
- 1:22:35Speaker 4: like all right let's see because you might have like
- 1:22:37Speaker 4: microscopic number you don't know but.
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: It was like it was legit they look perfect no
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: if you want like your like shane falco jersey or
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: something like that some movie or whatever they get you
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: on social media though there's a lot of companies like
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: advertising cheap jerseys like yeah because it is they are
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: super expensive.
- 1:22:53Speaker 19: Yeah okay a lot of blowout versus close game really
- 1:22:59Speaker 19: it's very people are very interested uh ben writes in
- 1:23:03Speaker 19: I was listening to yesterday's podcast today.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: I got a little frustrated with the discussion you and
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: Paul had. I think Paul was equating blowouts with games
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: where the other team is simply bad. He kept saying,
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: I want to earn it, and I just don't want
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: to hand it to you. But I think that's a
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: poor characterization of blowouts. There are two types, when the
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: other team is bad and continuously makes mistakes, and two,
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: when our team is firing on all cylinders and thoroughly
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: dominating an otherwise good team. I find that second type
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: of game incredibly entertaining. The team is playing to its
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: full potential, not because the other team is making mistakes,
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: but because we're just that good. Those games aren't a
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: case of the team not earning it. In fact, I'd
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: argue those are.
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: The games where they earn it the most.
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: When both the offense and defense are dominating a good team,
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: you get to see the Patriots at their full potential,
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: and that's exciting to watch. I get Paul's point that
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: close games are entertaining because they're They're more thrilling. But
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: watching the Patriots put together a complete three-phase game against
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: a strong opponent and dominate them gives me just as
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: much joy. Saying those wins are just handed to the
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: team and that they didn't earn it feels a bit disingenuous.
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: I kept saying that during the discussion. I said, you're
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: changing the argument. That's not what we're saying.
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: Obviously.
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: If the team stinks, it's not entertaining. They just do
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: it to each other, though. It's like, you're moving the
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: goalposts again.
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: I would say one of my favorite Patriots blowouts was
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: the 2004 AFC Championship game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. When
- 1:24:34Speaker 4: they came out and it was like, you know, we
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: were expecting a tough game. They had already lost there. And, man, like,
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: and Brady was sick, too. Remember when I'm talking about that?
- 1:24:42Speaker 4: And then that, like, throw to, you know, end around
- 1:24:44Speaker 4: the Dion branch right out of the gate. Deep pass
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: to him to close it out. That was a lot
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: of fun.
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: Yeah, like.
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: There's a lot of examples.
- 1:24:51Speaker 7: I can't think of one off the top of my
- 1:24:53Speaker 7: head with Patriots, but watching the Celtics win the championship
- 1:24:57Speaker 7: against Dallas in Game 5, they just played a perfect
- 1:25:00Speaker 7: game in that game.
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: And it was just like, as a fan, there's nothing.
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: That was literally, they peaked. In that moment, they were
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: the best possible version of themselves. And so I get
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: what the emailer is saying, that there's something to be
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: said for that.
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: I feel like this needs a little addendum of like,
- 1:25:18Speaker 4: I love playoff blowouts, I don't need to be stressed
- 1:25:20Speaker 4: in the playoffs when it is all on the line.
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: You know, like, that's so relaxing.
- 1:25:24Speaker 9: Yeah, but that's, like, the ultimate endorphin dump.
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: You know?
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: Like, that's the.
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: But when they played, like, Tim Tebow.
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: Right, yeah.
- 1:25:32Speaker 7: Like, that's Paul's point of, like, that Denver team really
- 1:25:36Speaker 7: wasn't very good.
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: Yeah, they used to call it the double bye.
- 1:25:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: Or the tomato can or whatever.
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: The Houston team.
- 1:25:42Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:25:42Speaker 7: But, like, when you play a team and, you know,
- 1:25:46Speaker 7: I'm sure Seattle felt this way last year in the
- 1:25:48Speaker 7: Super Bowl.
- 1:25:48Speaker 13: Mm-hmm.
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: Like, they played an incredible game, right?
- 1:25:52Speaker 4: Sam Darnold didn't even throw a pick.
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: You think they said we didn't earn it?
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: No.
- 1:25:59Speaker 4: They earned it. They definitely earned it.
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: It's that time of the week.
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: Deuce. I'm going to put on my readers. The pressure
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: is on. This is more.
- 1:26:09Speaker 4: A Paul tribute than my eyes being that bad.
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: Okay. It's a good thing Paul isn't here today.
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: They're just blue light blockers.
- 1:26:17Speaker 4: Because I don't really want to hear about... You know,
- 1:26:19Speaker 4: we always get the standings.
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: I'm going to take these off. This is annoying.
- 1:26:23Speaker 4: Paul was in first place across the board this week, fellas.
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: Again?
- 1:26:26Speaker 12: Wow.
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: I'm shocked.
- 1:26:27Speaker 4: Not to ruin it, but let's get it out of
- 1:26:29Speaker 4: the way first because we'd have to deal with him
- 1:26:31Speaker 4: being all cocky. But let's go overall last week. Paul
- 1:26:34Speaker 4: was first, 10-4-1, followed by a tie between Alex and Evan, 8-6-1.
- 1:26:38Speaker 5: Oh.
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: Followed by a tie with Fred and Mike, 7-7-1. So
- 1:26:43Speaker 4: not a great week for everybody, except for Paul.
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: I'm having a tough season all around.
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: With the spread, Paul, again, 10-5. Wow.
- 1:26:53Speaker 4: Followed by Alex, 8-7. Evan and Fred, 7-8. And Mike,
- 1:27:00Speaker 4: who falls back to earth after a solid performance with
- 1:27:03Speaker 4: the picks with the spread last week, 5-10 for Deuce.
- 1:27:07Speaker 4: So overall standings for the season. Number one, of course,
- 1:27:11Speaker 4: it's Paul Perillo, 53-25-1. I don't know if that's a record,
- 1:27:14Speaker 4: but that's pretty darn good. Followed by Alex, 46-32-1. Then Mike, 45-33-1. Sorry,
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: tied with Fred. Fred, we're both 43-35-1.
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: And Evan, 40-38-1. Coming back.
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: The spread for the season. Again, Paul Perrello, 46-32-1. Really impressive.
- 1:27:39Speaker 4: Followed by Fred and Mike are tied at 35-43-1.
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: We're still not making money, Fred. Third place, I guess
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: technically fourth, Alex, 34-44-1.
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: And Evan, 29-49-1.
- 1:27:52Speaker 4: So there you go.
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: Good thing Paul isn't here, man.
- 1:27:55Speaker 4: He would just be gloating.
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: No, listen, he's having a good year.
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: I give him credit. He always has a good year. No,
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: he does. Like I said, it's in his blood.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: You know, so. Right. Ever since he's, yeah, he's been
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: a kid. Some of us have to work on something.
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: You know, so, but yeah, give credit where credit is due. And, uh,
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: I'm just really disappointed in myself. I just want to
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: say that I got to do better. Uh, it's, it's
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: all about me. Uh, you know, it starts with me
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: and it ends with me and I, I just have
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: to do better. So I, I take full responsibility for my, my, uh, performance.
- 1:28:31Speaker 13: It's good.
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: It takes a big man to admit that. I'm about
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: to put mine into copilot. All right. Let's start tonight. Um, yeah,
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: I'll be watching this game. Good one. It's Seattle three
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: and two against Denver three and two. And of course
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: it's a primetime game. So guess where it's being played?
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: Uh, Denver, Denver.
- 1:28:49Speaker 13: Yep.
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: You got that right. Um, so what do we got?
- 1:28:53Speaker 4: Yeah, we got Seattle by two and a half saddle
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: by two and a hay on the road.
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: And, uh, Yeah, I've just seen some footage of Bo
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: Nix kind of being like, I feel like I'm playing fine.
- 1:29:02Speaker 4: And then I hear Mark Shariff, Super Broncos, being like,
- 1:29:06Speaker 4: the offense is out of whack. And Sean Payton maybe
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: taking back play calling will help that. But I'm going
- 1:29:12Speaker 4: to go with Seattle on the road, and I'm going.
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: To lay the points.
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: Me too.
- 1:29:17Speaker 7: Yeah, there's been a lot of talk about the Broncos offense,
- 1:29:20Speaker 7: and they've been struggling, and Bo Nix has been struggling.
- 1:29:23Speaker 7: I can't imagine you're going to break out of a
- 1:29:24Speaker 7: slump against Seattle. That doesn't feel like a good recipe.
- 1:29:28Speaker 7: Coming off a loss, too, right? Seattle hungry.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: Yeah, and Sertain isn't playing, I don't think.
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: You're Seattle, Seattle?
- 1:29:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm going to go Seattle as well, both ways.
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: Hopefully this is the week I get out of my slump.
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: All right, now we go to Sunday. But we go
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: to our early morning Sunday, 9.30 in the morning. Hello, Clem.
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: Houston at 1-4 is playing the Jacksonville Jaguars at 4-1
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: in London. Jaguars minus 2.5. Yeah, tough one.
- 1:30:01Speaker 4: Houston got their first win last week. It's hard to
- 1:30:03Speaker 4: do double duty with this, you know, do the right
- 1:30:05Speaker 4: and the picks and everything.
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: Sorry, that was a quick aside. I'm going to go
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: with Jacksonville at home in England.
- 1:30:11Speaker 4: Play the points.
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: As am I.
- 1:30:17Speaker 9: Interesting situation with Marvin Harrison Jr. and now Keyshawn Booty is...
- 1:30:22Speaker 9: It's just interesting how the league plays out, you know?
- 1:30:24Speaker 4: He's going to take his volume away.
- 1:30:25Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: I'm going to.
- 1:30:29Speaker 7: So Jacksonville's been in London this whole time. They stayed
- 1:30:33Speaker 7: out there.
- 1:30:33Speaker 13: Right.
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: Which is making me want to go Jacksonville.
- 1:30:37Speaker 7: But I feel like Houston is not as bad as 1-4,
- 1:30:40Speaker 7: and I feel like Jacksonville needs a little bit of
- 1:30:41Speaker 7: humble pie at some point.
- 1:30:43Speaker 4: Ooh.
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: So I'm going to pick the upset. I'm going to
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: take the Texans also just because I need to make
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: up ground. I was going to do the same thing,
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: but I'm looking at injuries.
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: Will Anderson didn't participate in practice, and neither did Clowney.
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: And Al Shayer didn't either. They'll be fine. You don't
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: think that matters much? I think they'll play.
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: What was the spread again?
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: Two and a half for Jacksonville.
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: Two and a half.
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: That's not far. That's not big enough. I mean, the
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: Texans can't be one and a half.
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: They can't. They're just too good. But they might be.
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: They might be.
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: So I'm going back on what I was going to
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: pick going into this game, which was Houston. I'm going
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: to pick Jacksonville. I just got spooked by the injuries.
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I did. Yeah.
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: But when I put too much thought into it is
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: when I go wrong.
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: But anyway.
- 1:31:33Speaker 13: All right.
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: We move on to Sunday at 1.
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: Chicago, 3-2.
- 1:31:35Speaker 12: At Atlanta, 2-3.
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: All right, that's going to be.
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: It does sound like Caleb is going to be back
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: for this game.
- 1:31:44Speaker 4: Chicago minus 1.5. So Caleb's going to be back. I
- 1:31:52Speaker 4: think Pennix is okay, too, was the word on the street.
- 1:31:55Speaker 4: A tough one. Atlanta's got some talent. I don't think
- 1:31:59Speaker 4: they got enough. I like what, I don't like what
- 1:32:03Speaker 4: Chicago did last week. But if Caleb's, this is a
- 1:32:05Speaker 4: tough one, guys. I'm going to take Atlanta at home.
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: The upset.
- 1:32:09Speaker 17: Okay.
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: I'm going to get crazy.
- 1:32:10Speaker 3: I love Bijon so much, but I'm not going to
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: do that. I'm going to go Bears-Bears.
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: I have been impressed by the Falcons.
- 1:32:19Speaker 7: I think they've been better than I expected and running
- 1:32:22Speaker 7: the ball like crazy and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:32:25Speaker 7: I'm going to go with the Falcons in this game.
- 1:32:28Speaker 7: I don't really know right now. The Bears without Caleb's
- 1:32:31Speaker 7: been in and out, and I feel like their offense
- 1:32:33Speaker 7: has been streaky, and they got blown out last week.
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to go with the Falcons.
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: I'm going to go with the Falcons, too. Yes, I
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: think Caleb Williams is going to play. But the Falcons,
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: Chicago's defense is suspect. And that's what I think is
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: going to be the difference in this game. Atlanta at home,
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: I think if it was in Chicago, I might be
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: going with the Bears. But I like Atlanta.
- 1:32:55Speaker 2: What was the spread again?
- 1:32:57Speaker 4: Chicago by one and a half.
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: Yeah, so obviously I don't have to worry about that.
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: Atlanta.
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: All right. Sunday at one. Tough division game. The Ravens
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: at the Browns. Ravens are four and one. Browns are
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: three and two. Sounds like a Snoop Huntley game. Still Snoop.
- 1:33:15Speaker 4: I think so. It's Baltimore by five and a half. Yeah,
- 1:33:19Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: I thought Cleveland might have had something going.
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: I know. I trusted you.
- 1:33:24Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: Against the Jets.
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: You know, it's funny, though, the Jets, like similar kind
- 1:33:27Speaker 4: of team, like talent on the periphery.
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: They just got to figure out the quarterback.
- 1:33:32Speaker 4: I'm going to go with Baltimore to win, but I'm
- 1:33:34Speaker 4: going to take the Cleveland points at home in a
- 1:33:36Speaker 4: weird division game.
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: I agree. I'm going to do the same thing.
- 1:33:39Speaker 7: Yeah, Lamar didn't practice on Wednesday, so it's looking like
- 1:33:42Speaker 7: Snoop Huntley.
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: But I tried to trust the Browns last week.
- 1:33:45Speaker 7: I thought they should be favored against the Jets, and
- 1:33:47Speaker 7: they put up a stinker, and I'm not doing it again.
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: So, Ravens. Folks, this is your upset lock of the week.
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: Browns beat the Ravens.
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: Cleveland, Cleveland. Yeah. Browns beat the Ravens.
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: You've got a star next to that one. Lock of
- 1:34:05Speaker 3: the week.
- 1:34:05Speaker 2: Upset lock of the week.
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: Upset. Because it's easy to pick, you know, favorite locks.
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: Of course.
- 1:34:12Speaker 11: Noted.
- 1:34:12Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: Duly noted.
- 1:34:14Speaker 2: Real men pick upset locks.
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: Sunday at 1, Tennessee 0-5 at the Colts 2-3.
- 1:34:24Speaker 4: Indianapolis minus 7.
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: Yikes.
- 1:34:27Speaker 4: Another big spread.
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: Tennessee floundering. They really are.
- 1:34:32Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:34:33Speaker 4: I'm going to go Indy. I'll lay the points at home.
- 1:34:36Speaker 15: Same.
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: I'm going to go Indy.
- 1:34:40Speaker 7: Can we get Cam Ward some help? Can somebody block?
- 1:34:45Speaker 7: Or catch a contested catch? Or break a tackle? Or
- 1:34:50Speaker 7: do literally anything to help out Cam Ward? I'm going Colts-Colts.
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm going to go the Colts. Colts have disappointed
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: me a little bit. I thought that they would kind
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: of replicate what they did last year before Daniel Jones
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: got hurt, but they really haven't. But Tennessee is a
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: disaster from their front office on down.
- 1:35:11Speaker 2: So I will go with the Colts both ways.
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: We move to New Jersey where the Giants are playing
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: the 1-4 New Orleans Saints.
- 1:35:23Speaker 2: Giants are 3-1-1.
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: They're hanging in there. James.
- 1:35:27Speaker 4: Saints by one and a half. Yeah, the James Winston experience.
- 1:35:31Speaker 4: I love that he's just still in the league. He's
- 1:35:32Speaker 4: such a character.
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: He's eating W's right now.
- 1:35:35Speaker 4: He brings me joy. He really does. He's funny. The
- 1:35:38Speaker 4: league's a better place with Jameis Winston in it.
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: I agree.
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: My dad calls him Jameison for some reason.
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: He drinks a lot.
- 1:35:47Speaker 4: I'm going to go with the Giants.
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: I'm going to go with the Giants. Home ups, home dogs.
- 1:35:52Speaker 4: Let's go, Jameis.
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: Can't talk them up and then not pick them. Saints.
- 1:35:58Speaker 7: I'm going with the saints too, because I feel like Jameis,
- 1:36:01Speaker 7: like the clock always strikes midnight on Jameis eventually. And
- 1:36:04Speaker 7: sometimes like during the game and then it resets, he
- 1:36:07Speaker 7: throws like three pick sixes and you're like, all right,
- 1:36:10Speaker 7: there's Jameis. I think New Orleans is like just frisky
- 1:36:13Speaker 7: enough that, that, that they could do it against them.
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: So I'll take the saints. Uh, I'm going to pick
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: the giants. I'm going with the giants to win the
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: game at home. Um, Weather might be a factor. I'm
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: not sure what Sunday's weather report looks like, but I'm
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: not sure. Oh, I don't know.
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: Up in the northeast.
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: It looks.
- 1:36:33Speaker 3: I don't think it's that bad.
- 1:36:34Speaker 2: No?
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: Tomorrow was supposed to rain. I don't know about Sunday.
- 1:36:37Speaker 2: Tomorrow's supposed to be a washout, right?
- 1:36:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:36:41Speaker 8: No?
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: Okay. Well, maybe not.
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: No comments about the weather.
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:36:45Speaker 3: No, looking nice. Sunny. Sunny and 60.
- 1:36:47Speaker 2: 56 and sunny.
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: Okay. All right.
- 1:36:50Speaker 2: I'm sticking with the Giants.
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: All right, Sunday at 1, Carolina 2-2 at Philadelphia 2-3.
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: What's going on with the Eagles?
- 1:36:59Speaker 7: Sounds like they're still missing their guys, too. No Saquon,
- 1:37:02Speaker 7: no Devontae Smith.
- 1:37:03Speaker 4: Yeah, that's why Carolina is favored by a point and
- 1:37:06Speaker 4: a half.
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: That's tough. You know me. I like the Panthers. I
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: think they're frisky. Yeah, I'm going to go with it.
- 1:37:15Speaker 4: I'm going to go Carolina-Carolina.
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: All right. I'm tortured by this one. I know. It's
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: one and a half.
- 1:37:27Speaker 2: She's thinking about the game or reading a text.
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: I'm looking at the spread because Deuce didn't.
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: Print me a sheet out today.
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: He was really, he's like a little bit spiraling about this.
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: He's tripping over things.
- 1:37:39Speaker 2: He's doing a lot of jobs today. What's the spread
- 1:37:41Speaker 2: on this?
- 1:37:41Speaker 4: One and a half Carolina by one and a half.
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: On the road.
- 1:37:44Speaker 4: On the road. Road favorites.
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: I don't like it, but Eagles.
- 1:37:49Speaker 4: Fly, Eagles.
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:37:51Speaker 7: I am in on the Carolina Panthers.
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 1:37:53Speaker 7: I'm in on their offense. I'm in on Tedaro McMillan.
- 1:37:57Speaker 7: I'm in on Bryce Young. They look like they're cooking.
- 1:38:00Speaker 7: The Eagles, they can't score right now. I'm going with
- 1:38:04Speaker 7: the Panthers.
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: This is the last week for the Eagles for me.
- 1:38:07Speaker 3: That's how I feel, too.
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: I'm picking the Eagles, but if you lose this game,
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: you've lost Fred.
- 1:38:12Speaker 4: You're putting him on probation.
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: They're on a tight leash.
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: Just no Eagles.
- 1:38:16Speaker 3: And if they lose, we're undoing the leash.
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: The others are fun to watch. That offense is fun
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: to watch. No, I called them plucky, I think, three
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: weeks ago, and everyone laughed at me. Sunday at 1.
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: We've all been like, I called them frisky.
- 1:38:29Speaker 11: No.
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: No one believed in that. Sunday at 1, Pittsburgh 3-2
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: at Tampa Bay 1-4.
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: That's Jalen Daniels starting for the Buccaneers.
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: That is Pittsburgh minus 2.5.
- 1:38:46Speaker 13: Ah.
- 1:38:51Speaker 4: It's hard to pick, man, with Aaron Rodgers. I just
- 1:38:53Speaker 4: feel like you don't know what you're going to get.
- 1:38:55Speaker 4: I'm going to get crazy. I'm going to go Tampa.
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: Bay with upset.
- 1:39:01Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: Yeah. That is kind of crazy.
- 1:39:04Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:39:05Speaker 3: Steelers, Steelers.
- 1:39:08Speaker 2: I can't believe Tampa Bay won that game against Dallas
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: last week.
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: I know. That literally, that was.
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: The shock of the week for me. I don't think
- 1:39:15Speaker 2: they'd do it again.
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: They go Pittsburgh. Do you see what happened after that
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: game with his mama? No, with Dak Prescott in the tunnel.
- 1:39:24Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: One of their employees. I did see that.
- 1:39:28Speaker 2: Can you imagine?
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: Imagine being that employee. It was there, Paul. Imagine being
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: that employee. Can you imagine if that had happened here
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: when Bill Belichick was the head coach? Oh, gosh. That
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: employee would be tar and feathered. To the gulag. Yeah.
- 1:39:43Speaker 4: What do you got, Fred?
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: I've got Pittsburgh winning this game. Tampa Bay had their
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: big win of the season. That's it for them.
- 1:39:53Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: Now we skip over the Patriots at 1 o'clock and
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: we move to 4.05. It's the Cardinals 1-4 against the
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: Rams at 2-3.
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: Oh, boy.
- 1:40:04Speaker 4: The 2-3 Rams are 12.5-point favorites against their divisional rivals.
- 1:40:12Speaker 4: Is that too much? I'm going to pick the Larder win.
- 1:40:16Speaker 4: And I'm going to pick the Larder cover.
- 1:40:18Speaker 2: What did you say the spread was?
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: Twelve and a half. It's a big spread.
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: Rams lay the points.
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: I just want to say the Rams are who we
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: thought they were.
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: A lot of people thought they were the best team
- 1:40:33Speaker 2: in the league.
- 1:40:33Speaker 7: This whole thing that, oh, why even have a season? Oh,
- 1:40:40Speaker 7: just hand the Lombardi to the Rams. Oh, why even
- 1:40:43Speaker 7: play any games?
- 1:40:44Speaker 2: Two and three. Two and three to start the year.
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: Nobody told the Bills.
- 1:40:47Speaker 20: Interesting.
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 1:40:49Speaker 2: I'm going to.
- 1:40:50Speaker 7: Obviously, the Rams are going to win this game, but
- 1:40:52Speaker 7: I just think it's funny how, like, you know, maybe
- 1:40:54Speaker 7: let's play the games before we start crowning people in
- 1:40:57Speaker 7: the preseason.
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: All right?
- 1:40:59Speaker 13: Rams.
- 1:41:00Speaker 7: I'm going to take the Cardinals with the points, though,
- 1:41:02Speaker 7: just because I'm salty about all the talk about the Rams.
- 1:41:06Speaker 4: Jacoby's going to keep it close.
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: So I was kind of looking at this game from
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: two ways. One, I'm mad at them about the Bills game,
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: and just I thought their defense was horrendous. On the
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: other side.
- 1:41:19Speaker 2: You know, the Cardinals with Jacoby Brissett.
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, they just can't score points. So 12
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: and a half seems like a big spread. But if
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: the Rams get rolling, it's going to be more than that.
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: So I'm going to go with the Rams to win
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: the game and cover the spread. I was going to
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: take the points, but. The more I think about it,
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: the Rams, if they're not pissed off about the last game,
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: and McVay said that after the game. So I'm sure
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: that was the message all week for that team was
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: we need to be upset at ourselves. And so I
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: think they're going to come out at home and really
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: take it to the Cardinals.
- 1:41:57Speaker 7: Maybe like if you paid attention to special teams every
- 1:42:00Speaker 7: once in a while.
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: Good point.
- 1:42:03Speaker 7: Get caught up in building super teams and you actually
- 1:42:05Speaker 7: got a kicker that can make a field goal.
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, they are a little bit, you know, I
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: don't know the word to it, but, you know, this
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: whole thing about, you know, the draft doesn't really matter.
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: Special teams doesn't matter. I don't need to go to
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: college all-star games. I don't need to go to the combine.
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: I don't, you know, that's wearing a little thin.
- 1:42:28Speaker 2: You know?
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: Rubbing me the wrong way. Because corners.
- 1:42:30Speaker 4: The wind's calling.
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: All you other teams can do all that stupid stuff. Lazy. Yeah,
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: all that stuff. And we'll just pick great players and
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: win games. Teams cover kicks. So maybe they're getting to
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: come up in that regard.
- 1:42:45Speaker 4: It's not quite the same for me watching Gabe Ackes,
- 1:42:47Speaker 4: but watching Puka Nakua.
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: It's fun to watch.
- 1:42:50Speaker 2: He's for real.
- 1:42:51Speaker 4: He's just, I mean, what is he, like 11? Out
- 1:42:53Speaker 4: of 12 targets, like, he's just, he's money in the bank.
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: He's awesome. So, what are the odds, like, in five
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: years from now, every year there's a rumor that Pukunuku
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: is coming to the Patriots?
- 1:43:03Speaker 4: Oh, I would love that.
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: Isn't that always the way? Larry Fitzgerald or whatever, you know?
- 1:43:07Speaker 4: No, we haven't got there yet, but we'll get there.
- 1:43:08Speaker 4: We got A.J.
- 1:43:09Speaker 8: Brown.
- 1:43:09Speaker 7: I don't think this Rams team is really, like, selling
- 1:43:12Speaker 7: off pieces.
- 1:43:12Speaker 2: They're literally doing the opposite now.
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: I said, like, five years from now.
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:43:15Speaker 4: You get old-ass Pukunuku.
- 1:43:16Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: Broken down. Right. Too bad. But we'll be just as
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: excited about it. Especially the way that guy plays.
- 1:43:21Speaker 13: I know.
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: Well, geez.
- 1:43:23Speaker 4: When he played here, he had a catch in the
- 1:43:24Speaker 4: added zone near the lighthouse. That was just like diving.
- 1:43:27Speaker 4: I'm like, how do you even stop that?
- 1:43:29Speaker 2: He's awesome.
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: He's something else.
- 1:43:30Speaker 3: He's a baggage boy, though.
- 1:43:32Speaker 17: Oh, yeah.
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: Sure is.
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah. 425.
- 1:43:34Speaker 20: Not interested.
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: The Chargers 0-5 against the Chiefs 4-0.
- 1:43:36Speaker 2: The Chefs by 8.5.
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: So how are we feeling?
- 1:43:45Speaker 4: We think the LAC's going to be a little frisky
- 1:43:47Speaker 4: in the division. Are they going to make a stand?
- 1:43:49Speaker 4: Are they going to try to prove something?
- 1:43:50Speaker 2: Division games. Win a game.
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: I do think division games are close.
- 1:43:53Speaker 4: So I'm going to take KC, but I'll take the
- 1:43:54Speaker 4: points for the LAC and see if they can try to,
- 1:43:57Speaker 4: you know, do something to build off of. Because now,
- 1:44:00Speaker 4: I mean, they're on a tough track right now.
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: I'm going to do the same thing, but I don't
- 1:44:05Speaker 3: know why.
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: Don't know.
- 1:44:07Speaker 2: I'm going Chiefs, Chiefs.
- 1:44:08Speaker 7: This is another team I don't want to hear anything
- 1:44:11Speaker 7: else about is the Chargers. I don't want to hear
- 1:44:14Speaker 7: about how much talent they have. I don't want to
- 1:44:16Speaker 7: hear about how great the quarterback is.
- 1:44:18Speaker 2: They lose every year. They are not a paper tiger.
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: So if you're the Chargers.
- 1:44:25Speaker 2: I'm done with them.
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: If you're the Chargers and this season continues to go
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: the way it is and you have the first pick
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: or the second pick, are you sticking with Herbert and
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: trading that pick?
- 1:44:39Speaker 2: Or are you using that pick and trading Herbert?
- 1:44:41Speaker 4: Could you persuade him to break up with his girlfriend first?
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: They're engaged.
- 1:44:47Speaker 2: I'm sticking with Herbert.
- 1:44:50Speaker 7: You hope that the quarterback you draft turns into somebody
- 1:44:53Speaker 7: as good as Justin Herbert. This is a good draft
- 1:44:55Speaker 7: for other positions, especially edge rusher, which I'm sure they
- 1:44:59Speaker 7: would love.
- 1:45:00Speaker 2: Jeremiah Smith would be a great pick too.
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: But if you end up going 1-16, don't you feel
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: like you need to just blow it up and start fresh?
- 1:45:08Speaker 2: And that might include the coach.
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I would look more at the coaching than the quarterback.
- 1:45:14Speaker 4: I would too. It's too hard to find that much
- 1:45:17Speaker 4: talent in a quarterback. And I know it's a good
- 1:45:19Speaker 4: draft quarterback. I think it's tapered off. People aren't as
- 1:45:22Speaker 4: high on it now as they were going into the season.
- 1:45:25Speaker 4: So I just, I think you got to continue to,
- 1:45:27Speaker 4: I don't know what his contract situation is.
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: I assume he's in. Oh, it's a lot. Yeah.
- 1:45:30Speaker 4: So I think you're kind of married to him, but
- 1:45:32Speaker 4: you know, what are you going to draft the tackle?
- 1:45:34Speaker 2: Like, you know, like you got good tackles, like Jeremiah
- 1:45:36Speaker 2: Smith's a good show.
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: That would be, you know? Yeah.
- 1:45:38Speaker 2: All right. I'm going to go with the chiefs both ways.
- 1:45:40Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:45:41Speaker 16: Yep.
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: All right. Um, Sunday, four 25 Buffalo four and one
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: at the Raiders three and two.
- 1:45:51Speaker 4: Yeah. I, I, I, I thought Buffalo obviously bounced back
- 1:45:54Speaker 4: really well against the Rams, and Josh Allen just continues
- 1:45:57Speaker 4: to put the weight of the world on him. Oh, sorry, 5.5,
- 1:46:00Speaker 4: Buffalo 5.5. I'm going to take Buffalo and Buffalo.
- 1:46:05Speaker 3: Buffalo, Buffalo.
- 1:46:05Speaker 7: Yeah, I think the clock struck midnight on Kirk Cousins
- 1:46:09Speaker 7: last week. I think they're talking about Mendoza after this game,
- 1:46:13Speaker 7: and I'm going Buffalo, Buffalo.
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: It would be interesting if the Raiders put up a fight.
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: And then you can say, well, you know, maybe the
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: Patriots didn't unload on such a bad team. Maybe they
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: are a little bit better than they showed in Gillette.
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: But I don't think so. I think Buffalo wins and
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: they cover.
- 1:46:32Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: Sunday night, 820. Sunday night football. It's the Dallas Cowboys
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: at 2-3 at the Green Bay Packers 3-2.
- 1:46:42Speaker 4: The Packers by one and a half. Nice bounce back
- 1:46:48Speaker 4: for them last week. Wasn't really totally expecting that. And, man,
- 1:46:52Speaker 4: what a tough loss for Dallas. I think that, you know,
- 1:46:55Speaker 4: these two teams kind of coming off opposite games.
- 1:46:57Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 1:46:59Speaker 4: Green Bay re-inspired and Dallas wondering what they got. I'm
- 1:47:04Speaker 4: just going to go with the home team here. I'm
- 1:47:05Speaker 4: going to go Green Bay, Green Bay.
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: Same. Same. I'm not trusting Dallas ever again. Yeah, this
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: is a pick on who I want to win, not
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: necessarily who I think I want to win, because Green
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: Bay is.
- 1:47:22Speaker 2: They're not reliable either.
- 1:47:25Speaker 9: Kevin looks super prepared for the season when I watch them.
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: Like, they just... I don't know. At least their first games, like,
- 1:47:32Speaker 3: just a lot of penalties. They were sloppy. And I
- 1:47:34Speaker 3: was just like, are you guys even ready?
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: Yeah. He's my favorite roller coaster.
- 1:47:36Speaker 4: They're definitely jack-on-hide. Is it Toyota-thon, though?
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: Because if it is, then... I'm going to go with
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: the Packers to win because I want them to win.
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: Monday night, 8-15. It's the Commanders, 1-3-1, at the undefeated
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: San Francisco 49ers.
- 1:47:55Speaker 2: 5-0, at home. San Francisco....
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: Minus seven and a half.
- 1:48:04Speaker 4: Yeah, that, I mean, everybody's still talking about that Jaden
- 1:48:06Speaker 4: Daniels thing at the end there.
- 1:48:07Speaker 2: Does he ever get over that?
- 1:48:08Speaker 4: I didn't like his comportment either. Like, the smile.
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: I just, I just like too much talk about that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay,
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: I get it. It was a snafu. Idiot. God, Lee.
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: I'm going to go San Francisco both ways.
- 1:48:23Speaker 3: Niners, Niners.
- 1:48:25Speaker 2: I'm going with the Niners. Keep it rolling. This is
- 1:48:28Speaker 2: a Dan Quinn game.
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: Yeah. Save your job, Dan Quinn. Can you save your
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: job or can you show that you have this team,
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: that you have their ear, that you can motivate? You
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: obviously stood by your quarterback. You took the blame. I
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: know both of them took the blame, but it wasn't
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: Quinn's fault. The way he threw his headset after the play,
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: that wasn't what he was expecting.
- 1:48:51Speaker 4: I hope it wasn't.
- 1:48:53Speaker 7: The question is, you would hope, and I think that
- 1:48:56Speaker 7: the Patriots are a good example, because Mike Rabel and
- 1:48:59Speaker 7: McDaniels and Stretch, I'm sure, are saying the same thing
- 1:49:02Speaker 7: up top, is explaining the situation to the quarterback in
- 1:49:07Speaker 7: the headset before the ball, before the plate, right?
- 1:49:10Speaker 2: Like you're saying, right. You have to get a stop
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: clock here. Like no matter what you do.
- 1:49:16Speaker 9: You can't, I could be wrong, but I thought I heard,
- 1:49:19Speaker 9: I thought a Washington player was asked like verbatim. Did
- 1:49:22Speaker 9: you guys, were you aware of the situational aspects in
- 1:49:25Speaker 9: the huddle before going out?
- 1:49:27Speaker 3: And they're like, yes, I'm sure.
- 1:49:28Speaker 2: But like, I guess I don't know.
- 1:49:30Speaker 7: Like I would like to think that Josh McDaniels or
- 1:49:33Speaker 7: Mike Vrabel would be in Drake May's ear and, Right
- 1:49:36Speaker 7: before the communication shuts off being like, whatever you do,
- 1:49:41Speaker 7: you need to stop the clock.
- 1:49:43Speaker 2: You can't let this clock run.
- 1:49:45Speaker 7: Those situations, I hold it on the coach a little bit.
- 1:49:48Speaker 7: You need to make sure that the player is 110% aware.
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: To what you said, I heard that there was rumors
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: that the commander thought there was another period after that.
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: They didn't know it ended in a tie.
- 1:50:00Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: That happens.
- 1:50:01Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:50:01Speaker 2: That happens more frequently than you think.
- 1:50:04Speaker 3: And they added ties every year.
- 1:50:06Speaker 12: I know.
- 1:50:06Speaker 7: And they added in the coin toss now and overtime. They,
- 1:50:09Speaker 7: the ref will say if the period ends, it's a tie.
- 1:50:12Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:50:12Speaker 7: And they make sure that announces that right before the
- 1:50:15Speaker 7: overtime period. Cause there has been times where players didn't
- 1:50:18Speaker 7: know it could end in a tie.
- 1:50:19Speaker 13: Right.
- 1:50:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: So despite that though, I think that 49ers win this
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: game and they cover, but, all eyes are going to be,
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: I think.
- 1:50:30Speaker 2: More on, uh, Quinn than on Jaden Daniels.
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: Yeah, sure. So, all right, now we move back to
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: one o'clock and the New Jersey jets are in town
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: with their two and three record against the three and
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: two Patriots.
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: Both teams, um, coming off wins.
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:50:49Speaker 4: Patriots by seven and a half. I gotta, gotta win
- 1:50:52Speaker 4: this game for new England and, you know, keep the
- 1:50:55Speaker 4: jets where they're at. Don't give them, uh, the belief
- 1:50:57Speaker 4: that they're back in this thing. Um, And I think
- 1:51:00Speaker 4: the Patriots will get the job done. Get A.J. Brown
- 1:51:02Speaker 4: back in the mix a little bit. Big day for Ramondre.
- 1:51:04Speaker 4: I'm going to go Patriots. I got a seven and
- 1:51:07Speaker 4: a half. Adjust my spread a little bit. I'm going
- 1:51:10Speaker 4: to say 26-17.
- 1:51:13Speaker 9: Patriots 30, Jets 13.
- 1:51:17Speaker 7: I think this game reminds me a little bit more
- 1:51:19Speaker 7: of the game here last year where like the Patriots
- 1:51:22Speaker 7: controlled the game, but it wasn't a boat race.
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: It wasn't a.
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: Blowout like the last week against the Raiders.
- 1:51:26Speaker 7: I go like 27, 14, like comfortable win, but not,
- 1:51:30Speaker 7: not a win.
- 1:51:31Speaker 4: Where you're like division game boat race.
- 1:51:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: Yeah. Um, you know, division game, I, I, in the past,
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: I'd probably take the number and have the Patriots win,
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: but the jets are, yeah, the jets are just not equipped, uh,
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: to come in here and cover that spread. Um, so,
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: I'm going to go with the Patriots both ways. And
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: I do think that they're going to have success on offense.
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: So I can't see them scoring below 30.
- 1:52:00Speaker 2: So I'll go 35, 35-12.
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: 12?
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: Yeah, 12.
- 1:52:03Speaker 4: That's got to be a score-a-gami, 35-12.
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: Well, you know, you're going to pay their respects to
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: Joe Namath.
- 1:52:14Speaker 2: They're going to score 12.
- 1:52:17Speaker 4: Six safeties.
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: Because that's the last time the Jets have won a
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: Super Bowl or Even Ben in the Super Bowl is 1969.
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: That's a long time ago. With Joe Namath.
- 1:52:26Speaker 4: Patriots have been like 12 of them.
- 1:52:28Speaker 2: That's crazy. All right, so we have a little time. Oh,
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: we didn't even have to hurry. Fred, we got an
- 1:52:33Speaker 2: answer from Jim Scalins.
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: They said, yes, they do.
- 1:52:35Speaker 2: You have to order them.
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: They take six to eight weeks to deliver. You have
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: to order them six to eight weeks. Can you call
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: and order over the phone maybe?
- 1:52:43Speaker 2: I assume so.
- 1:52:44Speaker 3: And will the pro shop ship it to him?
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: Well, if not, Matt Morrell will ship it to them.
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: So why don't you find out the number for the
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: pro shop, and we'll give that number out.
- 1:52:58Speaker 2: You're giving them jerseys now. They're going to have to
- 1:53:01Speaker 2: pay for it. I was going to say, the stiffed-in
- 1:53:04Speaker 2: ones are expensive.
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: That reminded me a lot. I was like, can I
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: get in on this order?
- 1:53:08Speaker 2: What's the number for the pro shop?
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: 888-662-7287.
- 1:53:09Speaker 14: 662-7287.
- 1:53:18Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: So just call the pro shop and talk to them. Say,
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: you know, you live out of state. You can't make
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: it to the pro shop. Is there a way that
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: you could order a custom jersey? You realize it'll take
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: six to eight weeks. That's not a problem. We'll figure
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: it out. And, you know, tell them you want to
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: do a rarity. Yeah.
- 1:53:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:53:37Speaker 2: He wanted to do Raritan.
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: That might be a good investment. He could be on
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: this team for a while.
- 1:53:41Speaker 3: We're going to move some Eli jerseys today.
- 1:53:43Speaker 7: I really like Eli Raritan, and I hope he's on
- 1:53:45Speaker 7: this team for a while, but I have a strict
- 1:53:47Speaker 7: policy with jerseys now.
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: We're like legends only.
- 1:53:50Speaker 4: Yep, me too.
- 1:53:51Speaker 7: Because I've been burned so many times by buying jerseys
- 1:53:54Speaker 7: of players that I liked for a minute in time,
- 1:53:57Speaker 7: and then they're off the team, and I'll never wear
- 1:54:00Speaker 7: that jersey again.
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: No, but you know what happens with those jerseys? So
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: once they leave the team... you put them away. But
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: then like 10 years later, you throw them out and
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: people are like, oh, I love that jersey. You know?
- 1:54:12Speaker 3: So I forget who it is, but someone....
- 1:54:15Speaker 9: It might have been one of the MassLive people did
- 1:54:18Speaker 9: just a compilation of all the really obscure Patriots jerseys
- 1:54:21Speaker 9: you see in the game.
- 1:54:22Speaker 3: It's kind of funny.
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: I love when you see, like, the 90s ones that
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: look like they've been through war.
- 1:54:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:54:26Speaker 4: It's just like, that guy's been going to every single.
- 1:54:28Speaker 2: Game for 30 years.
- 1:54:29Speaker 3: My stepdad has a Teddy jersey that's so epic.
- 1:54:32Speaker 2: Vincent Brisby.
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:54:34Speaker 7: It feels like a little bit of a waste when you, like,
- 1:54:37Speaker 7: buy a jersey and then the player gets traded or...
- 1:54:40Speaker 7: leaves or whatever and you're like i probably that was probably.
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: Yeah i yeah i think just buying jerseys anyway with
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: somebody else's name on it i don't like that i.
- 1:54:50Speaker 4: Get it fred i got a bruski a brady and
- 1:54:51Speaker 4: a gronk and that's uh that's where i stopped but
- 1:54:54Speaker 4: and do you wear them uh not really anymore but
- 1:54:57Speaker 4: i do you know what i did recently yeah i
- 1:55:00Speaker 4: mean you know costumes i had the reversible blood so
- 1:55:02Speaker 4: uh but one other one my uncle came across as
- 1:55:04Speaker 4: he was cleaning out an old house is like this
- 1:55:07Speaker 4: It's way too small. White Curtis Martin jersey, but like
- 1:55:09Speaker 4: way too small. Like I could wear it, but it
- 1:55:11Speaker 4: would be kind of funny. So I might have to
- 1:55:12Speaker 4: bust that out for Halloween.
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: Anyone go into a Halloween party where you're dressing up?
- 1:55:16Speaker 4: Not that I'm aware of.
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: We're going to be in Miami.
- 1:55:18Speaker 9: I'm going to the Patriots Foundation Children's Halloween Party.
- 1:55:23Speaker 2: Are you going to dress up?
- 1:55:24Speaker 3: I think it would be Jessie from Toy Story.
- 1:55:27Speaker 2: Jessie from, which one is Jessie?
- 1:55:29Speaker 3: Jessie the cowgirl.
- 1:55:30Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: Yeah. All right.
- 1:55:32Speaker 20: No.
- 1:55:32Speaker 3: It's a Pixar game, so.
- 1:55:34Speaker 2: Evan, you would never go to a Halloween party.
- 1:55:35Speaker 7: I would never go to a Halloween party, but my
- 1:55:38Speaker 7: days of dressing up are.
- 1:55:39Speaker 2: If you did dress up, what would you dress as?
- 1:55:41Speaker 2: I think my best costume ever was, I was Indiana
- 1:55:44Speaker 2: Jones one year.
- 1:55:44Speaker 4: That's good.
- 1:55:45Speaker 2: Okay, that's a good costume. And I had the hat
- 1:55:47Speaker 2: and I had the.
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: The whip. The whip. And I had the whole get up.
- 1:55:50Speaker 20: Yeah.
- 1:55:51Speaker 18: It was good.
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: It was in college.
- 1:55:52Speaker 4: I had a friend, a really smart investment. He bought
- 1:55:54Speaker 4: like a legit Stormtrooper outfit, like costume, like the real.
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: He just bought it once.
- 1:55:59Speaker 2: So now he's got it.
- 1:56:00Speaker 4: Anytime there's a, he's a real deal Stormtrooper. So it's
- 1:56:03Speaker 4: kind of cool.
- 1:56:03Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:56:04Speaker 2: When you're in college, like you kind of, you don't
- 1:56:05Speaker 2: have to try that hard, but like, you know, you
- 1:56:07Speaker 2: get kind of.
- 1:56:08Speaker 3: But if you do, it's awesome.
- 1:56:08Speaker 7: And you get kind of shamed if you show up
- 1:56:10Speaker 7: to like on Halloween weekend and you're not dressed up.
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: So like we used to.
- 1:56:14Speaker 9: Have some pretty my birthday is near halloween so it
- 1:56:17Speaker 9: was always the best week in college because you would
- 1:56:19Speaker 9: celebrate it before and after the holiday and it was
- 1:56:23Speaker 9: just like you needed six halloween costumes per year.
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: Well tonight we're shooting an episode of uh live at
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: the toby house if you haven't watched yet it's on
- 1:56:33Speaker 1: uh youtube uh at uh toby house and uh We'll
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: be talking about Halloween. Halloween edition. That's the topic. Are
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: you guys dressing up?
- 1:56:41Speaker 2: No.
- 1:56:41Speaker 9: You guys should go to Provincetown for my cousin's ghost tour.
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: Oh, yeah?
- 1:56:46Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:56:46Speaker 3: My cousin Angie runs it.
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: Your cousin runs it?
- 1:56:48Speaker 3: She's had the.
- 1:56:49Speaker 9: Provincetown ghost tour for, oh my God, probably like over
- 1:56:52Speaker 9: 15 years now.
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: Is it all year or just once during this time
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: of year?
- 1:56:57Speaker 3: It's all through the summer. It's seasonal. She comes back
- 1:56:59Speaker 3: in the winter.
- 1:57:00Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: But obviously she's got it this weekend or leading up
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: to Halloween.
- 1:57:04Speaker 3: I think so.
- 1:57:04Speaker 9: I think so.
- 1:57:05Speaker 3: Provincetown Ghost Tours. I could be wrong.
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: I didn't know there were ghosts up in Provincetown.
- 1:57:09Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:57:09Speaker 3: Well, think about the history there.
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: It's been there a long time.
- 1:57:12Speaker 2: Old Fisherman. I should have caught that.
- 1:57:15Speaker 3: There is. There's... There's, like, a pirate ship that went down.
- 1:57:18Speaker 4: The Black Widow.
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: I went there.
- 1:57:20Speaker 3: So the Black Widow Museum's down there.
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: Is this Widow's Bay?
- 1:57:25Speaker 9: There's also some, like, famous Provincetown serial killers. Tony Chop Chop.
- 1:57:28Speaker 3: I feel like we've randomly talked about.
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:57:31Speaker 3: We've talked about this on the show before.
- 1:57:32Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, we did talk about that.
- 1:57:33Speaker 17: Yep.
- 1:57:34Speaker 9: And just like all the pilgrims, because the pilgrims landed
- 1:57:36Speaker 9: there first, so think of.
- 1:57:38Speaker 3: All the people that died around that.
- 1:57:40Speaker 4: My 12-time great-grandfather was amongst the pilgrims that landed there.
- 1:57:42Speaker 4: Thank you very much. Did I ever tell that story?
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: I got a pilgrim on. Of course. Yeah, Richard Warren,
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: one of my pilgrim relatives. Richard Warren is one of
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: your relatives.
- 1:57:49Speaker 3: We've got some good lore in this episode.
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: You're going to be royal by the time we get there.
- 1:57:52Speaker 4: Real quick, though, that Witta pirate ship that they found
- 1:57:55Speaker 4: in the 80s, there's a full museum.
- 1:57:57Speaker 2: Your uncle was the captain.
- 1:57:58Speaker 4: No, no relation to that, but really cool. I went
- 1:58:00Speaker 4: to that museum.
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: I mean, it's a legit.
- 1:58:02Speaker 4: pirate ship that was loaded to the gills with booty
- 1:58:06Speaker 4: and plunder. And they got all kinds of coins and muskets.
- 1:58:09Speaker 4: And it's just, if you like, pirate ship stuff.
- 1:58:11Speaker 9: Yeah, there was like a famous pirate, Sam Blackbeard or something, maybe.
- 1:58:16Speaker 3: I don't know. It's interesting. I like that stuff.
- 1:58:19Speaker 1: So the museum is in Provincetown?
- 1:58:20Speaker 4: No, it's actually, it's like Yarmouth Port, like right on 28,
- 1:58:23Speaker 4: right on that main strip. Oh, I know where the
- 1:58:26Speaker 4: Pirates Museum is.
- 1:58:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it's right by Captain Parker's.
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: Yeah, it's really cool.
- 1:58:29Speaker 2: West Yarmouth. Yep, yep.
- 1:58:30Speaker 1: Jack Sparrow. I've never been in that museum. It was
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: my first time.
- 1:58:33Speaker 4: We went this summer, and it's really cool.
- 1:58:35Speaker 2: I should go.
- 1:58:36Speaker 4: Legit, real pirate stuff, you know?
- 1:58:38Speaker 5: Okay. Okay.
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: I don't want to be a pirate. All right, that's
- 1:58:42Speaker 1: going to be it for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered.
