- 0:003 lifelong friends, 6 trusty balls and endless NFL ticks.
- 0:05Welcome to three guys 6 balls NFL podcast.
- 0:08Welcome to episode 58 of three guys 6 balls NFL podcast.
- 0:11I'm your host Joel and I'm here with my two Co hosts Will and
- 0:14Avery. We finally have a three man pod
- 0:16again. We've got all six balls back.
- 0:18So thank you to will for stepping in as host.
- 0:22We, we did. We did all right.
- 0:25Thank you to Will for stepping in as host for me last week.
- 0:28I hope you're ready to do it again in a few weeks when I go
- 0:31on another vacation. Who is allowing this to happen?
- 0:36I know what you do for work. There's no way.
- 0:40His wife doesn't believe. He's gone.
- 0:41I work for my brother-in-law. OK.
- 0:43Hey shout out, I can pretty much do whatever I want.
- 0:46So Megan just has to talk to her sister and be like, I want
- 0:50vacation time, talk to your husband.
- 0:52Pretty much well, this last one, this last one was with my
- 0:56brother-in-law and this next one is with my family, so.
- 1:01Yeah, you actually have to ask off the.
- 1:03That's for your birthday. Birthday.
- 1:04It is. It is.
- 1:06I mean, I didn't really plan it. It's not what I wanted to do for
- 1:08my birthday. Dude, I spend time with my
- 1:10family. Why would I want to do that for
- 1:12my birthday? As an adult, I I get that, yeah.
- 1:18Anyways, will you did a good job.
- 1:20The only critique I have for you is the pronunciation of Venga
- 1:23Yowani's name. I have never said it wrong once
- 1:27in my life. You got the first name right,
- 1:30but the last name was wrong. Outside of that, very good job.
- 1:35You did much better than Avery that when I put him in charge.
- 1:37So. Get bent pal.
- 1:40No. You don't know how well I did
- 1:42because we didn't record. Is that maybe that was a
- 1:46different 1? I don't remember.
- 1:49Not the same one. Nobody wins, nobody wins.
- 1:54It was never recorded. All right, well anyways, today
- 1:58we're going to finish up our scouting reports for the 2026
- 2:01NFL Draft class. So this will be our last week of
- 2:04scouting reports, and then next week we're going to finish
- 2:06putting our top 50 big board together before the NFL Draft
- 2:09happens. But before we get there, I do
- 2:11have a question that I've really been wanting to get your guys's
- 2:14opinion on. So a couple weeks ago, I put a
- 2:16social media post out about how Packers fans think they're going
- 2:19to win the Super Bowl every year.
- 2:20And in that post, I mentioned Jordan loves one and three
- 2:23playoff record. And apparently I don't know Ball
- 2:26because I state statistical facts, but one of the most
- 2:29common comments on that post was wins and losses aren't a
- 2:33quarterback stat. So my question is, are win loss
- 2:36records a quarterback stat? Avery, I feel like you would
- 2:39have a strong opinion on this. Why don't you go first?
- 2:41I thought I, I, I stated this strong opinion last week.
- 2:44Yes, they are. But I think it's an unfair stat.
- 2:49So yes, but it's unfair. And the reason is, is because
- 2:52you could be a good quarterback and you could be losing games.
- 2:56And unless you are like Joe Burrow level, the fans will not
- 3:00hold that against you. But if you're Jalen Hurts and
- 3:03you're winning games, you're not putting up stats.
- 3:07Everyone has a problem with it. So it's it's one of those things
- 3:10where it's like, yes, it is a quarterback stat, but it will
- 3:13never be applied to you fairly. It's like a subjective
- 3:17application, which is really kind of a bummer.
- 3:21And that's why you get like, you know, these Justin Herbert
- 3:24Glazers, you know, even though he's just never making it out of
- 3:27the AFC West and their team always just kind of
- 3:30underperforms. But he shows a lot of promise
- 3:33and he's dating Madison Beer and they're winning some games even
- 3:38though they kind of just deflate by the end of the season.
- 3:40Winning games is absolutely a quarterback stat.
- 3:44You are required to win with the roster that has been given to
- 3:48you. I think Avery was entirely to
- 3:50mellow. Let's have a cut.
- 3:51Let's go back, Avery. Let's do it one more time.
- 3:53More animated, please. No, I'm just kidding.
- 3:56We. Tried to hold back there.
- 3:59Listen, one of the key reasons people argue against Eli Manning
- 4:05in the Hall of Fame as in fact he's 117 and 117 in his in his
- 4:09career. So of course it's a it's a QB
- 4:13stat. We can't say that he won X 90%
- 4:16or lost X 90% of games at the time.
- 4:18His career is over and not continuously had that
- 4:21conversation throughout the entirety of their career.
- 4:25In baseball, wins and losses are a pitcher statistic.
- 4:29Now there are caveats if if a player makes an error and they
- 4:34score a run that doesn't go against you as a run.
- 4:37And so there are caveats and and maybe football needs those.
- 4:41But the the caveats I think in football are a lot more team
- 4:46based and IE on the quarterback. Like if if your receiver has a
- 4:51drop, there is a a percentage chance that the quarterback
- 4:56could have put the ball in the better spot to where he didn't
- 4:58have a draft. Now there are some of those
- 5:00where the receipt hits receivers hands out in open space and he
- 5:03just drops the ball That's not on the quarterback.
- 5:06But there are there's often times where there is there is
- 5:10two people touching the ball almost every single play.
- 5:13If not every single play, you've got the center every single play
- 5:16and you've got the quarterback, which is not every single play
- 5:19when you run Wildcat and things like that.
- 5:22But the percentage is, is is that statistically almost every
- 5:26single play, your quarterbacks touching the ball, they're the
- 5:28ones running your offense. It's it is on their shoulders to
- 5:32to win or lose that game. And if your defense can't stop
- 5:36them, IE the Bengals a couple years ago, it is on your offense
- 5:40just to continue to score more points.
- 5:42So I agree with you guys. I think it is absolutely a
- 5:45quarterback set. I was hoping that one of you
- 5:46guys was going to say that it wasn't a quarterback set.
- 5:50So you can yell at us. Exactly.
- 5:52So I can give you this argument, but let's take a look at this
- 5:54argument anyway. So to the people that say that
- 5:58it isn't a quarterback stat, I want to give you an example
- 6:01here. So Matthew Stafford, when he was
- 6:03with the Lions, he had a record in the regular season, 7490 and
- 6:07one. So if Matthew Stafford had never
- 6:09left the Lions and that trend of having a losing record continued
- 6:13throughout his entire career, would he be a Hall of Famer?
- 6:16No, I would argue not. No, but I think people would
- 6:19still see him as a great quarterback because even when
- 6:22they were losing, he was putting up numbers.
- 6:25I mean, I mean, granted, I mean, you put Megatron up there.
- 6:28He played for the Lions his whole career.
- 6:31You know, it was much shorter, but it's still one of those
- 6:33things. At least it's not.
- 6:33I mean, and that's where you can see it's not a wide receiver
- 6:36stat, but at the same time, like you can look at his stats and be
- 6:40like, it's really a shame that he didn't play for a better
- 6:44team. And like, that's really how you
- 6:46would look at it because it's just like it is that stat like
- 6:49that is important. And it's like, dude, you know,
- 6:53you get paid way more than other players.
- 6:55You are the face of the team. You most likely have dinner with
- 7:01the coach or the GM, like, like if you're there, if you are that
- 7:05franchise quarterback the entire time, like it almost becomes
- 7:10your responsibility to assemble a better team.
- 7:13Obviously, you are not, you know, upper management, You're
- 7:17not in the front office, you're not the owner.
- 7:20But it is still incumbent upon you to do that, to take control
- 7:25because you are the leader of that team, especially if you're
- 7:27looking at Matt Stafford absolutely was the leader of
- 7:30that team. And so I think at that point,
- 7:33it's like, OK, maybe it's just time for, you know, to switch
- 7:36things up. And at that point, I think, I
- 7:38mean, I don't, I don't know many Detroit fans that are, you know,
- 7:41see him as, you know, a quitter on the team.
- 7:43I think they saw him as, you know, he put in his time, you
- 7:46know, but we had to shake things up, you know, to get things
- 7:48moving. And it worked out for honestly
- 7:50both parties, so. Yeah, I mean, I think in the
- 7:52case of Matthew Stafford, we know that it wasn't his fault
- 7:55that the Lions were terrible. But if he had a losing record
- 7:59when his career ended, had he stayed with the Lions, there's
- 8:02no way he's making the Hall of Fame.
- 8:04In today's NFL, you're not making the Hall of Fame if you
- 8:07have a losing record as a quarterback.
- 8:09You're just not. And people will try to argue
- 8:11that because there's two modern era quarterbacks in the Hall of
- 8:15Fame who do have losing records, which is Joe Namath and Sony
- 8:18Jurgensen. But both of those guys played in
- 8:20an era of football that paved the way for where we are now.
- 8:24The bar was lower for NFL quarterbacks back then than it
- 8:27is now. So both of those guys either
- 8:29changed the game or they made a big impact on the game during
- 8:33the time that they played. And in today's NFL, you don't
- 8:36change the game with a losing record, regardless of how good
- 8:39you are. To change the game in today's
- 8:40NFL, you have to be Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes where you're
- 8:43winning multiple Super Bowls within a a certain time frame.
- 8:48And that's how you change the game in today's NFL.
- 8:50And if you don't do that, and if you have a losing record, you're
- 8:53just not going to make the Hall of Fame in today's NFL.
- 8:55Wait, real quick, who was the quarterback that Lawrence Taylor
- 8:58destroyed? Like ended his career it.
- 9:00Wasn't that Joe Namath? So that's what came in there.
- 9:03Oh, I was going to. I was really hoping I forgot
- 9:08like that. That was his contribution to
- 9:09football was getting them left tackles, their money.
- 9:14That's what got him into the Hall of Fame.
- 9:15I'm glad I fixed that fast enough to where people can't
- 9:18they they started. It's actually this guy's too
- 9:23wrong. He's an idiot.
- 9:26Not if that's you. If you're watching, that's you
- 9:28put. Your fingers back in your
- 9:30pockets, we reach for the keyboard.
- 9:34Put your thumbs away. Anyways, will you mention Eli
- 9:37Manning? So do you think Eli Manning
- 9:39should make the Hall of Fame? I'm incredibly torn about this.
- 9:42Two Super Bowl wins, regardless of how you feel about them.
- 9:46He has two Super Bowl wins. I don't think he was MVP for
- 9:48either of those. If I remember right, 55 true
- 9:51500% win record. He was eight and four in the
- 9:54playoffs, including two. And oh, in Super Bowls, I would
- 9:57be fine with it going either way.
- 9:58I'm fine with him being in it. I'm fine with him not because
- 10:01it's hit 57,000 fasting yards. He climbed the list high enough
- 10:04to where that's not nothing. 2 Super Bowl wins is not nothing.
- 10:08I mean, that's more that's more than Stafford has.
- 10:11People are saying he's a first year Hall of Famer right now.
- 10:14I mean, there's, there's so many people that are out there that
- 10:17are all night Joe Flacco. It's just he's, he's in the same
- 10:22argument. Does he make it only one Super
- 10:23Bowl and a super one VP? And so I, I don't know.
- 10:27I, I truly don't know. I don't think he makes it in
- 10:30because I feel like the barrier to entry for the Hall of Fame
- 10:33has gotten harder. I, I feel like there's and I'm
- 10:36not just talking about the bill. Belichick Apparently you have to
- 10:39win 9 super. Bowls, I knew that was to come
- 10:41up, but I, I think that the talent level has gone up so much
- 10:46that they that they're trying to make it more exclusive and more
- 10:49prestigious rather than just letting every above average Joe
- 10:54schmo. And not that they ever did that,
- 10:56but there is a, a, an error of like we're not doing that
- 11:00anymore. You have to be X amount good.
- 11:03And and I don't know what the X amount is.
- 11:06And they spent like, was it 18 seconds discussing Peyton
- 11:09Manning? I think is what the what the
- 11:10report was for his Hall of Fame bust.
- 11:13And I mean, I'm sure they're going to spend even less time
- 11:15talking about Tom Brady. Like there's no question.
- 11:18He cheated, He cheated. He was on the Patriots.
- 11:20He cheated. Well, you know the.
- 11:22Reason Bill Belichick can get in.
- 11:24That is truly a shame. At this point, I, I don't, I
- 11:31actually don't know how I feel about Eli being here or not.
- 11:33I, I think it would be fine if you'd ask me any other guy of
- 11:36the era, like Phillip Rivers, I don't think he should be in Joe
- 11:39Flacco. Probably not like I, you could
- 11:41run through those, those 2000 tens quarterbacks, They've all
- 11:45retired to this point. And and Eli is kind of like the
- 11:48one real question mark. I think that just is like you
- 11:52can't give a definite yes or no without going through
- 11:55everything. I wonder if Eli Manning's
- 11:59eligibility into the Hall of Fame would have changed had he
- 12:02been drafted by the Chargers. That's probably a question for
- 12:08his dad though. No, I I mean honestly at this
- 12:13point the Hall of Fame just needs a rework.
- 12:16I think they just expose themselves at this point.
- 12:19Like who even knows? Honestly, at this point right
- 12:22now, Eli Manning is getting in because I think he's favorable
- 12:25enough and agreeable enough of a person to for the whoever the
- 12:32jokers are that decided to get him in.
- 12:34So he'll probably make it in. But yeah, other than that, I the
- 12:38Hall of Fame is the most subjective, petty thing right
- 12:42now. I think it, I think it honestly,
- 12:44for the sake of the sport, they need to audit and put those
- 12:47people in prison and then rework it and make it more clear as to,
- 12:52you know, what gets you in. That being said, I, I, I do
- 12:55think there's, there is still a matter of like opinion just
- 12:58because there's who, who's the guy from ESPN who was on first
- 13:03Take with Stephen A years back? Skip Bayless.
- 13:08After Max. Oh.
- 13:13Kellerman. Yes, Max Kellerman.
- 13:15I saw this thing. I I guess he's been saying this
- 13:17for a while, but he said, he said like best versus great.
- 13:21And he said like, yeah, there's a lot of players today that are
- 13:24better than the greats of old. But like you are, you are
- 13:29comparing in a vacuum, like Joe Namath, he didn't, you know,
- 13:33maybe win enough games. But you know, in his time, he
- 13:38proved to be a great. And so it's the same thing with
- 13:41like Olympic athletes, like everyone's breaking world
- 13:43records every single time. But it's like you are comparing
- 13:46them to the athletes of their time with the technology and the
- 13:49resources and the money and everything that you have at your
- 13:52disposal. So I do understand that the Hall
- 13:55of Fame rules or the criteria gets a little tougher each year.
- 13:59And that's just because players are just getting better.
- 14:01These, some of these players are just insane.
- 14:05But anyway, yeah, I've just got qualms with the the Hall of Fame
- 14:08and I don't really know how to approach it right now because I
- 14:10think it's a total joke. Yeah, they proved it was it they
- 14:13they went back and proved it was a popularity contest and not a
- 14:17popularity based on general perception.
- 14:20Oh yeah, but it popularity based on their personal feelings.
- 14:24Well, we don't. Personal relationship with that
- 14:26person. Yeah, and, and that is absolute
- 14:28garbage to to me, to most people.
- 14:32I, I, I was on the Internet when that happened.
- 14:34A lot of people were like, how, how is this actually passable?
- 14:38But here we are living on the other side of it.
- 14:39You know, I was actually surprised at how many people
- 14:42were defending that decision to not put Belichick in, though,
- 14:46because there was actually quite a few.
- 14:50It's just like Kate, then who does make it?
- 14:51Put someone like, tell me a name.
- 14:54It's like when someone says like, oh, this player should be
- 14:58top five all time. It's like, OK, well then tell me
- 15:00who's out. Tell me a player who's out.
- 15:03Who who does he replace? So when I see like, oh, yeah,
- 15:06Bill Belichick shouldn't have made it.
- 15:07Like, OK, who's someone that should have made it?
- 15:10Let's compare them. Let's compare them apples to
- 15:12apples. And let's find out if that
- 15:13person should be in while Belichick is out, you know,
- 15:16because it's easy to just say, oh, you know, oh, he no, no, no,
- 15:19he shouldn't have made it. It's like, OK, well, who goes?
- 15:21Who's ahead of him? Who would be someone that's
- 15:24ahead of him? And it's hard to, I mean, I
- 15:26would say it's impossible, but I would really love to see someone
- 15:29try. At this point, honestly, I don't
- 15:30even go. I don't even think I've seen
- 15:31anyone make that case. After the podcast.
- 15:34I might look that up just to see if I can see them try to make a
- 15:36coherent argument. How many times did Belichick
- 15:39cheat? Twice.
- 15:40Was it twice? Where?
- 15:41Hold on. Hold on, hold on.
- 15:43Yeah. How many times did he get
- 15:44caught? Yeah, yeah, OK, yes.
- 15:46How many times did he get caught cheating?
- 15:48So if we count Deflategate on him, I think it's two, right?
- 15:53But that that was a Tom Brady thing.
- 15:55So one. One for Bellatrack, one for
- 15:58Brady. I mean, even if we call it
- 16:00twice, he would still have 6 Super Bowl rings, 5 as a coach
- 16:05and one as a defensive coordinator, which is more than
- 16:08everybody else. I, I don't get it.
- 16:11But anyways, we got some scouting reports to do, so let's
- 16:14move on to the scouting reports. So the first guy up on our list
- 16:18today is Texas A&M Edge, Cassius Howl.
- 16:22How I feel about Cassius Howl at the NFL level depends on two
- 16:25things, where he gets drafted and what role that team gives
- 16:29him. If Cassius Hall is expected to
- 16:31be an every down player on defense, I don't like him that
- 16:34much because he's not very good against the run.
- 16:36He's got historically short arms paired with his lighter weight
- 16:39for an NFL edge and just doesn't set good edges against the run.
- 16:43But if Cassius Hall's role is just to come in on passing downs
- 16:46and give quarterbacks nightmares, then I'm all in.
- 16:49But going back to the stat that we've mentioned before, since
- 16:511999, there hasn't been a single player with sub 31 inch arms
- 16:55that has a double 4 digits sack season or made the Pro Bowl.
- 16:59However, I think that a guy like cash is how can come in and make
- 17:03a big impact for an NFL defense as a pass rusher, just not as
- 17:06the number one guy. The measurements say that cash
- 17:09is how will never get a 10 sack season.
- 17:11Go get me 9 1/2 sacks. I think cash is how can do that.
- 17:14What cash is how lacks with his arm length.
- 17:17He makes up for with a violent first step, a relentless motor
- 17:20and he's got a really good set of pass rush moves.
- 17:23And so I think if you're drafting Cash is how to be this
- 17:26every down player who's going to be your number one pass rusher.
- 17:30I don't think that's where teams should view him.
- 17:33But if you're viewing him as a guy who can help you rush the
- 17:35passer and he's not going to be the focal point of your defense,
- 17:39then I really, really like Cash's hell a lot as a player.
- 17:42Yeah, I, I think honestly, when I think of him, I, I think of
- 17:47just it. It's a shame.
- 17:48It's a shame that his arms are that short because everything
- 17:51else seems to be in line. It just seems like this is just
- 17:54some cruel joke the universe is playing on him.
- 17:56But like you said, I do think that, you know, depending if
- 17:59teams are utilizing him correctly, I think he could be
- 18:02put in good positions. That being said, he is one of
- 18:07the players that I am really, especially on defense.
- 18:10I mean, offense, there's some exciting players I want to keep
- 18:13tabs on. But this guy, I really want to
- 18:16see how he develops because I think that if there was a guy
- 18:21with ridiculously short arms to pass 10 sacks, I think it would
- 18:28be him. And so I'm like, it would be
- 18:31nice to see. I mean, granted, the sample size
- 18:34for guys with short arms getting 10 sacks isn't very large.
- 18:38It's not like there's a whole bunch of guys with short arms
- 18:41out there trying to get it and can't make it.
- 18:43It's usually just the cream of the crop that are out there or
- 18:45even put in positions to get double digit sacks.
- 18:48So everything else I've seen with this guy is amazing.
- 18:53But I also know how important that arm size is, the arm
- 18:58length. So I'm very, very curious to see
- 19:01how how this guy does. I really don't know.
- 19:05I don't have any preconceived notion of how well he would do
- 19:08in the NFL because of that one particular stat, but I am very,
- 19:12very excited to see how he does. Yeah, I mean, as a pass rusher,
- 19:16he's got pretty much everything that you could want just from a
- 19:19guy who's going to rush the passer.
- 19:21He gets around the corner really well.
- 19:22He's got really good bend. He's got a really high motor.
- 19:25He's just going 100 miles an hour the entire time when he's
- 19:28rushing the passer. But he just doesn't have the
- 19:30arms. He doesn't have the arm length.
- 19:33That's the one thing, but he has everything else that you would
- 19:36want in a pass rusher. He's nearly the exact opposite
- 19:39of of Keltrick folk, right? We talk sat here and talk
- 19:42Keltrick folk. He's all run, all run no pass
- 19:46Cassius how all pass, no run it. It kind of is like a weird
- 19:50dynamic where you wish you could draft both of them as a package
- 19:54deal like like back in the schoolyard when you're trying to
- 19:57pick players. Well, me and him are a package.
- 19:59So if you get 1, you get both of us.
- 20:01Like that was just OK back then. It's just a little weird
- 20:03concept. We all did it anyway.
- 20:05And so it's it's it's like you need Cassius Howell on 3rd down
- 20:09and Keltrick frock on 1st and 2nd down.
- 20:11And that way they can just swap each other out the entire game.
- 20:13And they both make the Pro Bowl because they're never tired
- 20:15because they're never in the whole game.
- 20:17We sat here and kind of continue on with the the arm blade thing.
- 20:20We sat here and. RIP Ruben Band apart for his
- 20:23short arms. Cassius Hale has arms that are
- 20:265/8 of an inch shorter, which is over half an inch, which does
- 20:29not see. This is not half an inch, by the
- 20:31way, which does not seem like a lot when you're talking, when
- 20:34you're talking first punch, when you're talking first contact and
- 20:37your arms are 2 1/2 inches shorter than the offensive
- 20:41tackles you're going up against regularly.
- 20:44That is a huge deal. And we really shouldn't like
- 20:46him. We really shouldn't if his arms,
- 20:50if if we were talking about 31 and a quarter or even 31 and 5/8
- 20:54or something like that, if his arms were just like an inch
- 20:56longer or an inch and a half longer, he'd be top 15 pick most
- 20:59likely. Like top ten?
- 21:01He's top 10. Yeah, I I can absolutely agree
- 21:04with that. Realistically, we're looking,
- 21:06we're looking 25 to 30 best case scenario because of it.
- 21:10It's it's a huge deal, but he has every other intangible you
- 21:13would want except for the fact that he's got T Rex arms and
- 21:16saying T Rex arms is so 30 and 1/4 inch arms are not short by
- 21:23regular human standards, but we're not measuring him to
- 21:27regular human standards. I mean, they're shorter than
- 21:29mine and I can't even extend my arms all the way so.
- 21:32That's true. We did that live on the screen
- 21:34that. Was fun, Avery.
- 21:35We did actually measure. Pterodactyl bone wing arms.
- 21:40You did it on on the cast, Yeah. Yeah, we did actually measure
- 21:43our arms. Yeah, Joel, on that polar
- 21:45measuring case, we measured right here on camera.
- 21:48Oh shoot, what are you guys? -31 so I have longer arms in
- 21:51Reuben Bane. Will has longer, right?
- 21:54Yeah, Will's is like 34 I think. Yeah, 30. 3 has long arms.
- 21:58Yes, I I my arms are longer than I am tall and I stand 6 foot 3
- 22:02inches. Three different measurements.
- 22:04Yeah, like a Neanderthal. Yeah, absolutely.
- 22:08You know, no. Just helped him rebounding.
- 22:10He just didn't. Have to I never jumped like
- 22:12just. Literally dude, I was trying so
- 22:16hard to get the ball and you would just not even leave.
- 22:17The floor and you just hit me to temple with your pointy ass
- 22:20elbows, started Dwayne it. Was the only way I could hit
- 22:22you. It was the only way I could get
- 22:24the ball. He started poison tipping them
- 22:27hit you and then you just like overtime.
- 22:29Just take poison damage, pass. Out I had to createspace
- 22:32somehow. Yeah.
- 22:36Anyway, so something to look at with Cassius Hal and his ability
- 22:39to rush the passer. So last season Cassius Hal
- 22:41played in 12 games and he had a sack in seven of those.
- 22:45But three out of the five games where he didn't have a sack last
- 22:48year were against Notre Dame, Texas and Miami.
- 22:51So in those three games combined, he had 64 Pasho snaps,
- 22:540 sacks, 2 quarterback hits and four hurries.
- 22:57He just didn't make an impact against the three best teams
- 23:00that he played against last season.
- 23:01Now, that could be attributed to him being the clear #1 pass
- 23:04rusher on his team because he had 11 1/2 sacks last year and
- 23:08the next guy had 4 1/2. But at the NFL level, it's not
- 23:11going to get easier when you're the number one pass rusher.
- 23:14So again, if Cash's house being drafted to come in and be the
- 23:17number one guy as a pass rusher, I don't know if that's going to
- 23:20go well, but if he's a guy who can compliment your number one
- 23:24pass rusher, I think he's going to be really, really good in
- 23:27that role. Yeah.
- 23:30I have nothing else to add. Well, let's move on to the next
- 23:33guy on our list, which is Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez.
- 23:38And I have a take here about Jacob Rodriguez, and I'm not
- 23:40sure if you guys are going to agree with me or not, so I'm
- 23:42curious to see what you guys have to say.
- 23:44Chances are just for content. We will see.
- 23:47I'll. Agree with you inside, but
- 23:49outside I have to. I have to respond with outrage.
- 23:52So go on. I would How could you?
- 23:56How? Dare you?
- 23:59I wouldn't expect anything else from you guys.
- 24:01Oh, you weren't even. You weren't even talking about
- 24:03it. Dang it.
- 24:04I jumped together on my bed. Fall start five year friendly.
- 24:08Anyways, I would not be surprised if Jacob Rodriguez
- 24:11ends up being the best linebacker from this draft
- 24:13class. Now with that being said, I do
- 24:16think that Sonny Styles is the best linebacker prospect in this
- 24:18draft, but it's hard to look at the tape of Jacob Rodriguez and
- 24:21not think he's an absolute game changer.
- 24:24Over the last two seasons, he's had 255 tackles, 10 forced
- 24:28fumbles and five interceptions, and if that's not a game
- 24:31changer, I don't know what is. He's going to be a linebacker
- 24:34we're consistently talking about because of how he changed the
- 24:37course of a game every single week.
- 24:39He consistently raised the level of play of that Texas Tech
- 24:42defense, and I think he's going to do the same thing at the NFL
- 24:46level. I think, well, first of all, I
- 24:48agree with you. I think though that Jacob
- 24:52Rodriguez's success is highly dependent on the defensive line.
- 24:58I think if if he has a good defensive line, he can excel way
- 25:04more than than any average linebacker would.
- 25:07I say that because he absolutely destroyed every team except
- 25:13Oregon. And that's because we basically
- 25:15negated their defensive line and then he was having to do too
- 25:19many things. And I think that's where you get
- 25:21that kind of bites on misdirection.
- 25:23He goes all in on a lot of these plays.
- 25:26And for the most part, he's very, I mean, he's very smart.
- 25:28He played quarterback, You know, I, I, I think he has a very,
- 25:31very good defensive mindset, a very good football mindset,
- 25:35which helps him obviously with getting these.
- 25:37You don't just, you don't stumble into 128 tackles.
- 25:41And so I think just seeing how he plays here, I mean, we've had
- 25:47so many guys where it's like, I mean, they've got all the
- 25:50physical attributes, but they only tackled 5 people this
- 25:53season. But we promise they'll do better
- 25:55once they're a professional. Like this guy is been doing it.
- 25:59And so, yeah, I mean, there's been guys even this, see who's
- 26:04that cornerback that didn't even play?
- 26:07We've got guys that just like got 2 tackles, 2 sacks.
- 26:11So I just, I, I think, I think this, this is somebody who has
- 26:14just been proving that he can play the position.
- 26:17Maybe there's a bit of a learning curve, but this guy can
- 26:19excel at it. I mean, obviously you watch the
- 26:21tape. I mean, he won.
- 26:22What did he win? Which which award did he win?
- 26:24Just best defensive player, all of all of them.
- 26:26Every defensive, yeah. All of the linebacker.
- 26:28Awards. So I mean, he's already the best
- 26:31linebacker, I I see no reason to see why he would drop that far
- 26:37after going pro. I mean, ever you mentioned it,
- 26:39he came into college, not Texas Tech.
- 26:43I don't remember what college he went into originally, but he he
- 26:46was recruited into college as a linebacker, but he was also a
- 26:50three star quarterback recruit, recruited that way out of high
- 26:53school into college, and then transferred to Texas Tech where
- 26:56he became full time linebacker with his twin brother.
- 26:58Twin brother might not play linebacker.
- 27:00I don't actually know what I'm talking about him anyway.
- 27:02And I think that's the exact reason as to why you see what
- 27:05you see. He he performed a high level and
- 27:09and a three star quarterback is not the average high school
- 27:14quarterback that is way better than your Joe Schmo at your
- 27:17local high school just to even get 3 stars is, is not easy in
- 27:22the real world. This is not NCAA Football, but
- 27:24you're putting it on easy mode just to get your high school
- 27:27your five stars in terms of the difficulty you actually want
- 27:29when you get high to college. This is like from Minnesota.
- 27:34I believe he he was a legit quarterback, took his team all
- 27:37the way to the state semi finals, got recruited that way,
- 27:41turned linebacker and then realized, oh, wait a minute,
- 27:44this is the same thing I was doing over there.
- 27:47I can just I, I know the route trees, I know the route.
- 27:50I know what this means. I know what that means.
- 27:53I've ran these plays now let me just counteract them.
- 27:56And so I think that his his intelligence to do all of that
- 28:00together, it has made them excel.
- 28:03And that's why we see the turnovers we see because he's
- 28:05reading, reading the plays before they happened, because
- 28:08he's ran the plays. And so he just gives him a leg
- 28:13up that other linebackers just don't have.
- 28:16Yeah, I think really the one kind of like the biggest knock
- 28:19on Jacob Rodriguez is I wouldn't call him the small linebacker,
- 28:23but he does lack length, which has led to a higher missed
- 28:27tackle rate throughout his career.
- 28:28So in 2025, he missed 13.9% of his tackles, and then in 2024,
- 28:33his missed tackle rate was 17.1%.
- 28:35So if you look at his 255 tackles over the last two
- 28:38seasons, that's awesome. But the lack of his length
- 28:42caused him to miss 42 tackles over the last two years.
- 28:44So that could potentially be a problem in the NFL.
- 28:48But and like Avery mentioned, you don't just stumble into 128
- 28:51tackles. Jacob Rodriguez is very, very
- 28:54good. This guy's awesome.
- 28:56How high do you think Jacob Rodriguez should be drafted?
- 28:58I think he will and we can put this on our spreadsheet if that
- 29:02even exists. I don't even know if it exists
- 29:04but I know we keep referring to it.
- 29:05I think he will be taken a lot higher than he is projected
- 29:10probably. I could honestly see him.
- 29:11Going in the lottery or whatever.
- 29:13I could honestly see him going in the.
- 29:15Top 20 of the draft. Really.
- 29:17Yeah. He's.
- 29:18Getting a lot of talk. He's getting a lot of talk from
- 29:21teams that are up there, like the 15 to 20 range.
- 29:24I was thinking around 15. I still haven't mentioned an
- 29:27early day too guy, but I'm willing to be completely wrong.
- 29:30I. Mean I just I'm just like where?
- 29:32I think he will go, yeah, where he think.
- 29:34I think if I had to put money on it.
- 29:36I I think positional value really matters and Jacob
- 29:41Rodriguez doesn't play the style of linebacker that the NFL needs
- 29:47or is shifting to now. Yes, he's got the full fumbles,
- 29:50but he bites really hard on play fakes.
- 29:53And the NFL is in right now shifting more towards your
- 29:56counter runs, your your what you got your zones with, with
- 29:59cutback lanes. And it does not feed the Jacob
- 30:02Rodriguez's play style because because he plays so aggressive,
- 30:05he gets up in there and he gets washed out of the play and cut
- 30:08back lanes open up. So I think if we were talking
- 30:115-10 years ago, I'd say, yeah, easy top ten, truly.
- 30:15But that's just not the case right now.
- 30:17And not that he won't go on to be the best linebacker of the
- 30:20class. I actually don't agree with that
- 30:22statement, but I didn't. Say he would be, I said he could
- 30:25be. OK, well then sure, Yeah, he
- 30:28could be. Of course he could be now we're
- 30:30talking about potential right now, but I just don't.
- 30:34I still think he's AI think somebody trades up early round
- 30:38two to get the guy they wanted in round one but didn't feel
- 30:42they had the room to take so 38 or so, 4038 to 40.
- 30:47It's a really narrow window, but.
- 30:49I mean, that's still really good.
- 30:53Anyways, unbelievable honestly. Yeah, I think people forget a
- 30:55lot of the times, like if you're getting a guy who's not drafted
- 30:58in the first round, I think they think that they suck.
- 31:01But that's just not how it works.
- 31:04It's just not. Anyways, let's let's move on to
- 31:08our next guy, which is Georgia defensive tackle Christian
- 31:11Miller. Christian Miller's been getting
- 31:13a lot of hype from people like draft analysts.
- 31:16He's been getting a lot of hype recently, and I just don't think
- 31:19I'm as high on him for some reason as some of these draft
- 31:21analysts are and will. Why don't you tell me why that
- 31:24is? Sure, I don't know why you like
- 31:27to. Hurt people so.
- 31:28I I don't know why you personally feel this way, but I
- 31:32can tell you what I feel. He's powerful, he's very strong,
- 31:36sturdy, square point of attack. He exposed with his hips, which
- 31:39is is better than we see a lot of people who are trying to use
- 31:42their arms more. He tries to bring his power with
- 31:44him he has, but he also has the upper body power and knock
- 31:47people back. Good balance which is great for
- 31:50a man his size 64321. The problem is he can't rush the
- 31:55passer right He's he's pure run and even then he doesn't.
- 32:00He gets eaten by double teams rather than eating up double
- 32:03teams. And so he he's going to stop the
- 32:05run fairly well. He does have a lot of room to
- 32:08grow with the double teams and, and truly rushing the passer.
- 32:12And if he doesn't get his hands on you, on you, you're not
- 32:15making a title. He's not making a title.
- 32:17He will, he will lose a lot of time who's trying to overextend
- 32:21and overreach you, getting pushed or moved out of the way.
- 32:23He also gets a tunnel vision at times where he's he gets a hole
- 32:27and he just runs through it without really paying attention.
- 32:30And that's going to get you trapped and and get you knocked
- 32:33on your booty in the NFL. And so I do like him a lot.
- 32:37I don't actually think I would like him moving up the boards a
- 32:40lot either, truly, because he can get fooled easy and he has
- 32:45so many gaps with his A man his size should not be getting
- 32:49pushed around by double teams as easily as he does.
- 32:52I don't really care for my defensive tackles personally.
- 32:55Rushing the rushing the passer, that's not where I want them to
- 32:58make their money. I want them to eat up the blocks
- 33:00and even then he has a hard time doing that.
- 33:02Yeah, I think the reason why I'm not super high on him is because
- 33:05of how high I am on Kid McDonald, because Kid McDonald
- 33:09was a highly productive player and that makes him really stand
- 33:12out because he's always making the play.
- 33:14Christian Miller's tape. Just, it seemed boring to me.
- 33:18And I understand that maybe that's what you want from your
- 33:20defensive tackle, right? Maybe you want your defensive
- 33:22tackle to be boring, But I just think Kid McDonald was much more
- 33:25impressive to me and he's not a boring defensive tackle.
- 33:29So I think Christian Miller can raise the floor of a defensive
- 33:32line, but just not in an exciting way like Kate McDonald
- 33:35can do for you. For the most part I agree with
- 33:37you guys. I feel like defensive tackle is
- 33:39one of those positions where it is hard to tell when someone is
- 33:45doing a lot like at least compared to other positions.
- 33:48That being said, I agree with Will.
- 33:50This dude is strong, very strong, and I think he's got a
- 33:53good technique as far as just like what it says here, hands
- 33:58over a shotgun on contact, upper body power stops blockers from
- 34:02controlling him. I feel like for the most part
- 34:05when he gets double teamed, I think a lot of this is just, I
- 34:08want to say coaching. This is another one of those
- 34:11players where it's like, hey, did we really see it in college?
- 34:14Is this more of a, you know, potential kind of thing?
- 34:19That being said, I also agree with Joel.
- 34:22I wasn't blown away by any of the tape.
- 34:25He seems like just a solid football player for this
- 34:29position. And I, I couldn't really find
- 34:32anything else that was that really stood out.
- 34:34But also at the same time, I didn't really see anything that
- 34:37was necessarily that bad. So maybe I, I think you'd be a
- 34:44good football player on a good football team, so.
- 34:47It's the problem. We've looked at so many of these
- 34:49guys, they all start to a blend together and B, if you're not
- 34:52the top end talent, it's like, I mean, yeah, I guess he's good.
- 34:56He's not this other guy, but I guess he's fine.
- 34:58He's way better than me. I I couldn't do what he could
- 35:02do, but I'm not being asked to. Yeah.
- 35:06I think my biggest problem with Christian Miller is he just
- 35:09reacts late to the snap. You can clearly see on tape that
- 35:12when the ball is snapped, he's not firing off the ball.
- 35:15He's clearly late and that is probably one of the biggest
- 35:18reasons why we haven't seen him be super productive with his
- 35:21numbers. The most tackles he's ever had
- 35:23in one season is 27 and again, to compare that to Kate
- 35:26McDonald, it just doesn't even come close to measuring up.
- 35:29He's very good with the stacking shed against the run, but he
- 35:31just reacts late to the snap. And if he would react like right
- 35:35when the ball is snapped, he could just overpower people
- 35:38right away and just blow up the plate.
- 35:39But because he's late to react, he doesn't do that.
- 35:42So that's probably the biggest thing that I didn't like about
- 35:45him. And again, overall, I think he
- 35:48was just kind of like boring to watch honestly.
- 35:52I'm bored, let's move on. Next.
- 35:56All right, the next player is Tennessee wide receiver Chris
- 35:59Brazil. Now I want to start this one off
- 36:01by sharing a I want to start off by sharing a stat about Chris
- 36:07Brazil that I heard on the NFL Stock Exchange Podcast.
- 36:10So over the last two seasons at Tennessee, Chris Brazil has
- 36:13played 1196 snaps and now that takes out his 49 slot snaps.
- 36:19But of those 1196 snaps, Chris Brazil played all but two of
- 36:24those snaps on the right side. He played only two total snaps
- 36:27on the left side over the last two years, 1 snap on the left
- 36:30side each year. You guys have any thoughts on
- 36:33that bad coaching, which is kind of what we've seen in Tennessee
- 36:37with their wide receivers going into the NFL, honestly.
- 36:40Yes, yeah, yeah, that's a that's a big I I heard doing my review
- 36:45of this guy. That was what I heard the most
- 36:48is you have to review the player, not the helmets.
- 36:51And and it's a Tennessee wide receiver.
- 36:54So, OK, let's just write them up is going to be probably bad in
- 36:56the NFL, but it's not the receiver's fault.
- 37:00It is legitimately coaching staff fault for for doing that
- 37:03to him and not creating more opportunities.
- 37:07Now, maybe in practice he can't catch the ball from the left.
- 37:10He can't turn his body this way. He couldn't turn it that way.
- 37:13That I don't believe that's true because you don't you don't get
- 37:15to be a starting receiver in the SEC if you can't prove it.
- 37:21And that's part of proving it. So I think it is legitimately
- 37:24just bad coaching. I mean, I think the difference
- 37:26between Chris Brazil and other guys that we've seen going into
- 37:29the NFL like Jalen Hyatt, Jalen Hyatt or Cedric Tillman, like
- 37:34we've seen a few of these guys go from Tennessee into the NFL
- 37:37and they just do nothing. But I think the biggest
- 37:39difference is that Chris Brazil can actually run NFL routes.
- 37:44He can actually create separation for himself instead
- 37:47of just being able to get separation because of how the
- 37:50offense is being run. Chris Brazil can actually get
- 37:55separation for himself. Like he has the speed to beat
- 37:57you over the top with a 43740, but he also is very good at
- 38:01selling his vertical routes and using that big play speed and
- 38:05then sinking his hips to change direction and get separation
- 38:07from the corner. So that's kind of the difference
- 38:10between some of these other guys we've seen from Tennessee going
- 38:12into the NFL where they have big expectations and then they do
- 38:15literally nothing versus Chris Brazil is he can actually get
- 38:20separation on his own. He doesn't need somebody to
- 38:23steam up separation for him, he can actually do it himself.
- 38:27I don't think he's going to be that great and actually has
- 38:31nothing to do with him wearing a Tennessee uniform.
- 38:34This guy, I mean, and this is also I'm going up vibes here.
- 38:37I know that he is oversized. I think he's a little weaker
- 38:41than he should be, but he's got clearly great change of
- 38:44direction, incredible speed. I think he was a four three
- 38:48something 437. Yeah, incredibly fast.
- 38:52I think the big thing for me is just his.
- 38:56I think he is a below average catcher and I think that that is
- 39:01going to absolutely bite him in the NFLI think regardless of all
- 39:06his speed, size, everything. I, I, I just, I feel like, and
- 39:11you can write this down on the the document as well.
- 39:16I just don't think he's really going to go anywhere.
- 39:18I think he's been blessed be putting a professional football
- 39:23player's body and I think he will severely underperform.
- 39:27And everyone can get mad at me. I actually, I had no idea about
- 39:30all that other Tennessee receiver crap.
- 39:32I didn't even know that, but I can I can see that maybe there's
- 39:35a trend here. Maybe they need to investigate
- 39:38who Tennessee is recruiting on the receiver end.
- 39:42So my Internet froze. I didn't hear a single word
- 39:44Avery said. So let me ignore everything that
- 39:46he said and go my own way anyway.
- 39:49Do it. Let me tell.
- 39:50You. That's actually great.
- 39:51That's actually great. Let me tell you if, if I could
- 39:53have heard what you said, I'm going in the same path.
- 39:55Anyway, this freight train had left the station and it wasn't
- 39:58it wasn't turning around. What I can say is I actually
- 40:00disagree with you, Avery. I think, Chris, is it Brazil or
- 40:04Brazil? Brazil.
- 40:06Brazil, that's dangerously close.
- 40:08Chris Brazil, he's the best of the rest.
- 40:11We've talked about like 5 or 6 wide receivers now to this
- 40:14point. And I think that those we talked
- 40:17about go and round 1-2, maybe one of them leaks into round
- 40:21three. I think Denzel Boston's kind of
- 40:23losing some some speed and the draft boards.
- 40:26Maybe I'm just talking out of my keister here, but I think I
- 40:30think we have an early day three guy and Chris Brazil because of
- 40:33positional value when the best guys are gone, those teams with
- 40:37drafts, your lineman and your guards and stuff like that in
- 40:39the middle. And I understand guards are
- 40:41lineman, but those are after lineman in the middle rounds and
- 40:44they'll get back to this to the take a chance on a skill player
- 40:46on day three. I think he's an early day three
- 40:49guy and I I think that he is going to to shine.
- 40:52He's going to go somewhere where they're going to need somebody
- 40:55who's tall with his speed and let them do this thing he's been
- 40:58doing his entire career. I mean, every, every team's
- 41:01constantly looking for a vertical threat.
- 41:04They just don't usually come at six foot four.
- 41:06He feels like, to me, he feels like the perfect Panthers or
- 41:10Raiders wide receiver. He's tall and fast and can just
- 41:13move down the field and he, he will, he will spread the field
- 41:16open for you, allow your, your other playmakers underneath.
- 41:20But as Joe, as you mentioned, he can sink his hips, he can flip
- 41:23him around and he can make a make a play on a day route.
- 41:26Now they only ever had him running slants and and and go
- 41:30routes. But again, it's a coaching
- 41:31problem. He has a professional wide
- 41:34receiver route tree. They just never utilized it.
- 41:36So he can do all the things. Additionally, he has incredible
- 41:40footwork where he can make a toe tapping boundary catch.
- 41:42He saw it multiple times in college.
- 41:44Now it was only one foot, but I think it will translate well
- 41:47getting both feet down in the pros.
- 41:49I actually am a big fan of Chris Brazil here.
- 41:52I, I, I like him. I, I would love for the Rams to
- 41:55draft him and, and let him learn and, and and grow. 6 foot four
- 41:58with one with 437 speed is not that common.
- 42:02Real quick, maybe you guys don't have someone and that would be
- 42:04fine because I'm putting you on the spot.
- 42:06If you guys were to compare this guy to somebody, who would be
- 42:08your comparison? He's a faster Marquez Valdez
- 42:11Scanlon. Same same body size, same body
- 42:14height, almost the same way he browses, just faster.
- 42:18The guy I was thinking of, and this is a weird comparison and
- 42:23you can probably see why I'm comparing him, but Dorio, Green
- 42:26Beckham, this guy's obviously alive.
- 42:30Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. This guy's obviously a lot, a
- 42:33lot. I want to say smaller.
- 42:35I think he's an inch smaller and probably about 40 lbs lighter.
- 42:38But I, I just remember back, I'm just OK.
- 42:43He had everything. He had everything.
- 42:47He had Greg Odin's high school scouting report.
- 42:52Like this guy was supposed to be unstoppable.
- 42:55And granted, there was some off the field stuff that like,
- 42:58really just derailed his career. But this guy, every time I saw
- 43:03him play, that's who he reminded me of.
- 43:05And again, I'm not saying they're the same person, but I
- 43:08feel like when it's all said and done, let's say 10 years down
- 43:13the road, you put Chris Brazil and Doriel Green Beckham in the
- 43:16same category. And like, yeah, they had
- 43:18different careers. But like, yeah, equally as
- 43:21disappointing maybe. I think.
- 43:22I think Beckham will be more disappointing.
- 43:24That was a generational fumble. But I just don't think this guy
- 43:28is coming to to to produce. And I think honestly, I think it
- 43:32has to do with like when it's all said and done, you can
- 43:34create all the space you want. You can jump over anyone you
- 43:37want, You can outrun anyone you want.
- 43:40But if you don't have elite catching skills like it's, it's
- 43:45just not going to translate. And I think that they're the
- 43:48corners, the the defensive backs are too good in the NFL.
- 43:51They're not going to let them get easy ones.
- 43:54And when it comes to those big plays where it's like, hey, it's
- 43:57between this defensive back and this receiver who's going to
- 43:59come down with it, This guy is no Julio Jones.
- 44:04I, I don't trust this guy to go up and get the ball.
- 44:07I'm sure he has a chance to get the ball.
- 44:09I'm sure he he could reach up there and grab it.
- 44:11But like, will he come down with it?
- 44:13Will it be like, oh man, Oh yeah, the defensive back just
- 44:16knocked the ball. I just, I'm just not saying it.
- 44:20I'd love to be wrong. I would love it if the Rams
- 44:23drafted him and he and he failed though.
- 44:24I would love that too. I think how you view Chris
- 44:29Brazil is kind of similar to how you view Cassius.
- 44:32How Like how is the team using Chris Brazil?
- 44:35If you're expecting Chris Brazil to be your number one wide
- 44:37receiver, then yeah, I don't think he's like him.
- 44:40But if you're viewing him as a wide receiver 3, then I think
- 44:44you should like him. But I do agree with you, Avery,
- 44:46that he's not an elite catcher for a guy of his size.
- 44:49You would think that he'd be just to like just throw it up
- 44:51and just let him catch a type of receiver.
- 44:53But his contested catch numbers are just not impressive at all.
- 44:56He had 49 contested catch opportunities in his career and
- 45:00he only caught twenty of those, which is 40.8%.
- 45:03So although he is tall, he's kind of skinny.
- 45:06He doesn't have like he's not going to overpower people when
- 45:10he's going up for a contested catch.
- 45:12So I do agree with you there. I just think that if you're
- 45:15viewing him as a wide receiver 3, then you should like him a
- 45:19lot more than if you're viewing him as a wide receiver one
- 45:21because I don't think he's a wide receiver one.
- 45:24Well, that's a really good wide receiver 3.
- 45:27If that's the case, then if I think he's a really good wide
- 45:28receiver, three. I mean, if we're talking about
- 45:30the fourth round here, the fifth round here, yeah, I think he'd
- 45:34be a great pick up. I think this is one of those
- 45:36guys that you're playing pickup ball and you're drafting your
- 45:38team and you see this guy who looks athletic.
- 45:41You see, you saw him at, you saw him be athletic, you saw him
- 45:43dunk the ball and then you play and you're like, oh, oh, no, no,
- 45:47no, no, no. This guy, like this guy just
- 45:50doesn't have the goods that he should.
- 45:52And all you just think is like, I what a shame, what a shame.
- 45:56And I'm being, I'm being hyperbolic here.
- 45:58Of course. I mean, this guy, this guy's a
- 46:00football player. He knows how to play football.
- 46:01But I just think for what he has going for him, I don't think he
- 46:07has that dog in him. I need to change topics here
- 46:11real quick. Congratulations Ford.
- 46:13McElroy just sunk his bogey putt to win the Masters for.
- 46:17The same year. Ruin 90s masters Rory Mac Rory
- 46:20back-to-back years, anyway. Back I thought you were watching
- 46:22your kids there. What is this?
- 46:24A golf podcast? What are you talking?
- 46:25About Look, we call ourselves three guys, 6 balls.
- 46:29Maybe golf is one of the balls all right.
- 46:33That was a good shout out. That was live.
- 46:35I mean this show was the. Live, I just watched it happen.
- 46:37I mean, I'm paying deep attention to our podcast, My
- 46:39Internet Cut Out. Sure.
- 46:43OK, OK. All right.
- 46:47Anyways, next guy, this is San Diego State corner Chris
- 46:51Johnson. Wait, this isn't the running
- 46:53rate. Oh yeah, CJ2K.
- 46:54Yeah, he's. Coming back to you, I did this
- 46:56on the wrong guy. Avery, tell me about San Diego
- 47:01State cornerback Chris Johnson. I like this guy.
- 47:05I like him a lot. I like him a lot more than the
- 47:07other cornerback we're about to talk about, and I think this
- 47:10guy's got the goods. I think he's great.
- 47:13I think he's fantastic. I think he's going to do really,
- 47:16really well in the NFL as opposed to the last guy we just
- 47:19talked about. Look, here's my problem.
- 47:24I I think he dominated college, but he played in the Mountain
- 47:28West. You were the best player in the
- 47:31worst, not the worst division, but one of the worst divisions.
- 47:34Of course you were good. You, you didn't challenge
- 47:37yourself in the excuse me in the world of transfer portal and
- 47:42make your money. He chose to just sit and be the
- 47:45best player on on a bad well, not a bad roster, a bad
- 47:50conference. Go do something somewhere else.
- 47:53How many times have we said this already where it's like, oh, I'm
- 47:57so glad he transferred and still did well.
- 48:00I'm so glad he we had made the same comments about what's his
- 48:04bucket to safety from Toledo. Joel, help.
- 48:09Emmanuel McNeil Warren. Crushed it.
- 48:11Could not have done better myself.
- 48:12Literally. Couldn't you watch it happen?
- 48:14We said, I said the same thing about him.
- 48:15We're saying, yeah, you did great, but you did it at Toledo.
- 48:18Do the same thing in in the Big 10, do the same thing in the
- 48:21even in the ACC. You were so good at San Diego
- 48:24State until you had to play a big game and you didn't perform
- 48:28as well because you were at San Diego State and the whole team
- 48:31didn't perform as well. You're only going to be as good
- 48:33as the competition level around you not the San Diego State is
- 48:37not a competitive college. It's just not the same level as
- 48:40the NFL. The SEC is not the same level as
- 48:43the NFL. The a big 10 ACC.
- 48:45The power four are not the same level, but it's closer than a
- 48:50non powerful conference than a group of five or whatever you
- 48:53want to call him. I just.
- 48:54You know who the last guy? Do you know who the last guy
- 48:57that was at San Diego State who got talked about like this was?
- 49:00Derek Carr. Kawhi Leonard, that was Fresno
- 49:04State by the way. Kawhi Leonard.
- 49:07Kawhi Leonard got disrespected. Same conference, same
- 49:13conference, same bad conference slightly in basketball than
- 49:17football. I will give you that.
- 49:19But I but I think, but regardless, because I understand
- 49:22what you're saying, this guy knows ball.
- 49:25Ball told me. He knows this guy.
- 49:28He he knows this guy. And I'm I'm telling you, put it
- 49:33on the dock. Put it on the dock.
- 49:35This guy's going to crush it. This guy knows Ball.
- 49:37He knows how to play defense. He knows how to play corner.
- 49:40This guy's going to rock. I'm calling it now.
- 49:43Calling I agree with you Avery IA 100% agree with you and will.
- 49:46Nice. You should will you should go
- 49:48look at Sauce Gardner. When he played at Cincinnati, he
- 49:51didn't play in a good conference.
- 49:53I would say Sauce had a slightly tougher schedule because he did
- 49:56play a couple teams like Notre Dame and Alabama, but most of
- 49:59the time he was going up against teams like East Carolina,
- 50:02Temple, Murray State. He wasn't going up against high
- 50:05level competition each week either.
- 50:07Sauce Garden, the one who just went O and 16 last year.
- 50:10No, he got out before that happened.
- 50:11He got out before it happened. He.
- 50:13He. Went O and eight on The Jets and
- 50:15an O and eight on the Colts. He took two teams that were.
- 50:19Actually, he's the only player. Yeah, yeah, he's the only
- 50:22player. In the league team.
- 50:24Wow. Well, win loss records.
- 50:27Aren't. Quarterbacks Owen 17 Owen 17.
- 50:31That's my bad. I'm I'm shorting him a loss.
- 50:34He got to the win. Loss records.
- 50:36He never won a quarterback stats.
- 50:39They're not cornerback stats. All I'm saying is I don't trust
- 50:45it. I'm willing to be proven wrong.
- 50:47But I mean, we have it here. Inconsistency at catch point
- 50:50that is going to be incredibly damning in the NFL at trouble
- 50:55battling big body receivers. There's none of those in the
- 50:57NFL. He should be fine.
- 51:00Receivers create separation on vertical routes, so that doesn't
- 51:03happen at all. So we're going to.
- 51:05Yeah, you're right. He'll be great, he'll be fine.
- 51:07Well, will you want to read some of the strengths there?
- 51:09For me, no. Those don't.
- 51:10Those are my actually. No, my fact's not yours.
- 51:15Mine. I reject your truth.
- 51:19This is my truth. Anyways, in 2025, Chris Johnson
- 51:24only allowed 18 catches on 43 targets for 185 yards and 0
- 51:30touchdowns. In addition to that, he had four
- 51:32interceptions, 2 of which he returned for pick sixes.
- 51:36I think he's going to be incredible.
- 51:37Love it, love it. I like how Sauce Gardner was
- 51:41just he's that guy in traffic that see that's stuck in
- 51:44traffic. He sees that lane moving, gets
- 51:46in that lane, and then that lane stops and then his previous lane
- 51:49just keeps going. He's like, what the hell?
- 51:52That's what he did all last season.
- 51:55No, he did get hurt, Yeah. Yeah, all.
- 52:00Right. Do you guys have anything else
- 52:01to add with Chris Johnson? No.
- 52:06I guess not, I was going to look up his game by game stats and
- 52:09prove that I'm right and you're wrong, but we can move on.
- 52:13I hope we don't really prove. That with corner stats though.
- 52:16Yeah, because if the 18, if the 18 catches were all against
- 52:21bigger schools and the and the rest of them were not, then of
- 52:24course he performed well against bad competition.
- 52:28Of course that's what you want, that's what you expect.
- 52:32Oh, I think we have it. Let's move on.
- 52:33OK, let's go. Yeah, I know.
- 52:35I have it. Yeah, move on.
- 52:36You over it. OK, fine, fine.
- 52:38I'll go back. I'll go back.
- 52:38I'll go back. Fine, go go.
- 52:43I don't have it. I lied to you.
- 52:44What? What the?
- 52:48OK, fine. Here's the hold on.
- 52:50Now here's the problem. The only good team he played
- 52:54last year, only good team he played last year was Washington
- 52:58State. They played terrible competition
- 53:02all year. Stony Brook, Washington State,
- 53:04California, Northern Illinois, Colorado State, Nevada, I guess
- 53:09maybe Fresno State, Wyoming, Boise State, San Jose State and
- 53:13New Mexico. And you know what he did against
- 53:15against Boise State? One pass deflection.
- 53:20He has 6 tackles. Because you know what?
- 53:22Because you don't have 6 somebody.
- 53:23Starting in. That does not mean that that
- 53:27means he misses the ball and they catch it anyway.
- 53:31Or he's making plays on run stops.
- 53:32He's a run stop in corner the. Worst.
- 53:35Oh yeah, he's all of it. So all of his 18 catches
- 53:38allowed. To oh, he's a run.
- 53:39Is that the worst breed of corner?
- 53:40Let's go to the next guy. Let's go.
- 53:42To the next. Guy.
- 53:43Yeah. All right, let's go to the next
- 53:44guy. Let's go to the next guy.
- 53:46Let's go to the next guy. OK, we're not going back this.
- 53:49Time supports the run like a box.
- 53:52Safety excels. In the run.
- 53:55That's the worst kind of corner. I don't want my corners to stop
- 53:59the run. I've got eight other guys in the
- 54:00box to do that. Maybe we should tell everybody
- 54:03who we're talking about for those who are listening in that
- 54:05way, yes. Sissy.
- 54:09This is South Carolina cornerback Brandon CC.
- 54:13I know what I said. CC, she say.
- 54:17All right, well, tell us about him.
- 54:18See say puede. Tell us why he sucks.
- 54:20She. Girls.
- 54:22Say puede see, say, Broadway. Look, what do you want me to say
- 54:31here? He's got below average route
- 54:32recognition and he's not great stroke who's play making with
- 54:37his play making positions, makes too many diving attempts, lacks
- 54:41career ball production. He's incredibly explosive and
- 54:44athletic, but he doesn't play corner very well, right?
- 54:48Who is we're talking about who didn't know how to play
- 54:50defensive tackle? It's Caleb Banks.
- 54:53It. Was Caleb Banks.
- 54:55She's incredibly athletic, just has no idea how to play
- 54:57defensive line with the same thing here we have a guy who is
- 55:00like in in NCAA 26. You're looking at it like, oh,
- 55:04he's an he's an Ath, he's got the athlete tag, he's a 96
- 55:08athlete and you go through and you try to put him in any
- 55:10position and he's in the 70s in every position.
- 55:12Well, he just is terrible. I got bodied by the computer
- 55:17saying that he was good and he doesn't fit any scheme ever.
- 55:21He's fine. He's a, he's going to be, you're
- 55:24going to put him in. Is it nickel or Rover or one of
- 55:27those two safety positions that you bring in when you need extra
- 55:30run help but can cover zone coverage?
- 55:33He's not going to stay corner in the NFL.
- 55:35He does not have the man to man ball skills to stick with these
- 55:39NFL receivers. He will change positions to a
- 55:43whatever. That's whatever the corner, the
- 55:45safety position is that comes in to stop the run.
- 55:48That's what he's going to do. I could see him being really
- 55:52good if the Seahawks draft him. Truly.
- 55:55And that's not enough for the Seahawks.
- 55:56They just love hard hitting safeties and corners.
- 55:59Yep, I think this is another guy where it depends on where he
- 56:02gets drafted and what role they use him in, because I think he
- 56:05has the potential to be really good if he's in the right
- 56:07system, like with the Seahawks, but if he's in the wrong system,
- 56:10I could see him being really bad as well.
- 56:12Avery, do you have any thoughts on him?
- 56:14No, I just think he's a track athlete and I think he's fine,
- 56:18but I don't think he's going to be that great and that he's a
- 56:21run stopping corner, so he can't be that great.
- 56:23Right I agree. I agree.
- 56:28When the Seahawks 2/1 for Jamal Adams I thought they were insane
- 56:32for that and then what happened? He did barely play for Seattle.
- 56:35He's a run stopping safety. I want my secondary to play
- 56:39secondary. I have eight other guys.
- 56:43Seven other guys sometimes. Who?
- 56:46Right. Seven.
- 56:48Yeah. Yeah, seven other guys.
- 56:49Sometimes eight other guys who are supposed to stop the run.
- 56:52I want you 3 or 4, to stop the pass.
- 56:55That is your job. Do your job.
- 56:57Maybe I'm just curmudgeon and old.
- 56:59That's just not the way the game's played anymore.
- 57:00Yeah, well, I'm old. Well, here's a stat that I think
- 57:04you guys will like. So in 2025, he was targeted 26
- 57:07times in 269 coverage snaps, which is basically 10% of the
- 57:12time. That's not even the best part.
- 57:14And when he was targeted, he allowed eighteen receptions.
- 57:17So he allowed a reception rate of 69%.
- 57:21Nice. That's not good.
- 57:26I mean, what else you want me to say?
- 57:27That's just not good. It's not high 60s at all.
- 57:32I mean, they're targeting this guy all the time, like all the
- 57:36time. And I don't know see say puede
- 57:41can go to see say sleep. All right, I, I I have nothing
- 57:53to add. I have no good things to say
- 57:55about coverage non coverage corners.
- 57:57All right, well, let's wrap it up then.
- 57:59That's going to wrap up our 2026 NFL Draft scouting reports.
- 58:02We are pretty much a week away from the NFL Draft.
- 58:04And so next week we're going to finalize our top 50 big board
- 58:07and then do some NFL draft predictions for you guys.
- 58:10And Will did not remind you guys to keep your balls played with
- 58:13last week while I was gone. So hopefully you didn't forget.
- 58:16And so here's a weekly reminder you did do it.
- 58:22I will. I also didn't care.
- 58:24I didn't forget. It was just a personal thing at
- 58:27that point, which is different. You just wanted to.
- 58:30Do your part and not mine. Truly.
- 58:33I got you again. You saw the tape.
- 58:37I got to the end and froze. Like I don't, I don't actually
- 58:39know how to. All I know is I say bye now
- 58:42y'all and that's it. I don't know what anybody else
- 58:44is supposed to say here. Will just like what do I do with
- 58:47my hands? Yeah, look, there's a reason I
- 58:52sit in third chair, right? We have our host, we have Avery,
- 58:55who's great and the vibes guy, and I sit in third chair as the
- 58:59hater. I know how this works.
- 59:05Anyways, don't forget to keep your balls played with.
- 59:08We'll see you next time. Bye girl y'all.
- 59:11Doesn't forget that part. Also, Mark Davis and Sarah Kyle
- 59:13still sucks.
