- 2:33Speaker 3: Good morning, sir, Welcome to the show.
- 2:36Speaker 6: Dave, Good morning to you, my friend. How are you.
- 2:39Speaker 3: I'm fine. I'm really a little bit disappointed. I know
- 2:41Speaker 3: you're out traveling doing the people's business today, but disappointed
- 2:44Speaker 3: that you couldn't come join us in the palatial new
- 2:47Speaker 3: studios here at eleven eleven. You haven't seen them yet.
- 2:50Speaker 3: You haven't seen him yet.
- 2:51Speaker 6: I have not no, and I will tell you that
- 2:53Speaker 6: if you're a tailor, having the other sponsor be the
- 2:56Speaker 6: Pigley wiggly is a very very good thing. I would
- 3:00Speaker 6: say that that one leads to the other.
- 3:03Speaker 3: You can't especially during the Thanksgiving season.
- 3:05Speaker 6: Right, that's one hundred percent?
- 3:07Speaker 7: Right?
- 3:07Speaker 3: All right, Well, congratulations there on your win a couple
- 3:10Speaker 3: of weeks ago. What was it about your message in
- 3:14Speaker 3: your race for Attorney General that people seem to be
- 3:17Speaker 3: so in tune with JB? So.
- 3:20Speaker 6: I think it's a couple of things. I think if
- 3:21Speaker 6: you start with sort of my legislative career and the
- 3:24Speaker 6: eight years that we've had as auditor, it's been a
- 3:29Speaker 6: career of public service that is focused on the people
- 3:31Speaker 6: of West Virginia, and the things that I have accomplished
- 3:34Speaker 6: and the things that we have done as a team
- 3:36Speaker 6: in my office are specific to defending the values of
- 3:40Speaker 6: West Virginia, defending our natural resources industries, defending the values
- 3:44Speaker 6: of the people in West Virginia, building up our economy.
- 3:46Speaker 6: But I think importantly putting taxpayers first and ensuring that
- 3:51Speaker 6: every single person in West Virginia is an informed voter
- 3:56Speaker 6: and has the ability to make great choices at the
- 3:59Speaker 6: ballot and to be informed about what their government has done.
- 4:04Speaker 6: Because you know, for us, transparency and accountability is always
- 4:07Speaker 6: number one, because taxpayers are our bosses and they're getting
- 4:11Speaker 6: ready to be my clients. And I truly couldn't be
- 4:14Speaker 6: more excited about that.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Talk about some of your plans for the office. I mean,
- 4:18Speaker 3: you got some some pretty big shoes to fill following
- 4:20Speaker 3: now governor like Patrick Morrison in that office. What are
- 4:23Speaker 3: some of your plans overall.
- 4:25Speaker 6: Yeah. So there's a lot of people who say that
- 4:28Speaker 6: defense wins championships, but I've always sort of the mind
- 4:31Speaker 6: that the best defense is a good offense.
- 4:33Speaker 5: Uh.
- 4:33Speaker 6: And when you live in West Virginia, we have a
- 4:37Speaker 6: culture that is intertwined with our economy, and you have
- 4:40Speaker 6: to ensure that not only the federal government, which we
- 4:44Speaker 6: are very excited is going to be led by Donald Trump,
- 4:47Speaker 6: but other states that surround us aren't doing work our
- 4:52Speaker 6: people's ability to make money the way that they want to, uh,
- 4:56Speaker 6: and to live the lives the way that they want to.
- 4:58Speaker 6: And so we are built a team of first class
- 5:01Speaker 6: lawyers who will be able to go on offense and
- 5:04Speaker 6: continue to be the nation's leading law office. For big
- 5:10Speaker 6: challenges to the values is not just the people of
- 5:13Speaker 6: West Virginia, but everybody in this country that lives.
- 5:15Speaker 8: Like we do.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Talking again to State Auditor j B. Mcuskey, who's also
- 5:19Speaker 3: now the Attorney General like for the State of the
- 5:20Speaker 3: Day Island, showing five any live broadtoon in part by
- 5:23Speaker 3: Hustan's Pizza this month? Did your favorite Hustans get a
- 5:25Speaker 3: large at and ch Pepperoni pizza and a Pizza Dia
- 5:28Speaker 3: only twenty one to ninety nine.
- 5:29Speaker 9: JB.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Talk about your work with the State Auditor's Office. I mean,
- 5:32Speaker 3: you know, you serve two terms there. What are some
- 5:35Speaker 3: of the things that you're most proud of that you
- 5:38Speaker 3: and the staff of the Auditor's Office were able to
- 5:40Speaker 3: accomplish in those two terms.
- 5:43Speaker 6: So I'll tell you. I was sitting in the office
- 5:45Speaker 6: yesterday and we had our Thanksgiving supper which we do
- 5:48Speaker 6: every year with you know, the front office and people
- 5:50Speaker 6: in the office, and I was sort of over overcome
- 5:53Speaker 6: with a bit of sadness, and I wasn't I don't
- 5:57Speaker 6: know what I was expecting, but you know, when I
- 5:59Speaker 6: got into that office, I was thirty three, thirty four
- 6:02Speaker 6: years old, and I was surrounded by you know, one
- 6:06Speaker 6: hundred and seventy five people who had no idea who
- 6:08Speaker 6: I was, who had worked for for essentially Glenn Gaynor
- 6:12Speaker 6: for their entire careers, and they took me in, they
- 6:16Speaker 6: bought into what was our vision for the office, and
- 6:20Speaker 6: ultimately were a family to me and through their efforts
- 6:25Speaker 6: helped not just make we'll make the ople and to
- 6:29Speaker 6: a I wanted. And so to answer your question, specifically,
- 6:35Speaker 6: making West Virginia the most transparent state in the United
- 6:37Speaker 6: States was goal number one. We accomplished it quickly, and
- 6:41Speaker 6: I think that is a lasting legacy. That is something
- 6:43Speaker 6: that taxpayers are going to demand from here on out.
- 6:46Speaker 6: It's something that we're going to demand from this new administration.
- 6:49Speaker 6: And with Patrick Morcy coming in to be the governor,
- 6:52Speaker 6: I think we're going to see an entirely new vision
- 6:56Speaker 6: and way forward that that coincides with that idea. And
- 7:00Speaker 6: I think building the fraud unit, you know, we we
- 7:03Speaker 6: have sort of turned ourselves into the pre eminent government
- 7:06Speaker 6: fraud fighting team in our states, and unfortunately, we've been very,
- 7:11Speaker 6: very successful. We've had more than fifty felony convictions, millions
- 7:16Speaker 6: of dollars recovered. When you look at the ways that
- 7:19Speaker 6: we've streamlined government, the ways that we have made it
- 7:22Speaker 6: easier for those who do business with the state, to
- 7:24Speaker 6: get paid. Our small businesses have a better interaction with
- 7:28Speaker 6: our state government now. And you know, we've spent an
- 7:31Speaker 6: enormous amount of time making our land Division a place
- 7:36Speaker 6: where taxpayers feel comfortable but as a proactive agency in
- 7:41Speaker 6: helping to eliminate blighted properties and a way for taxpayers
- 7:47Speaker 6: to stay in their houses. And so you know, over
- 7:49Speaker 6: the last eight years we have we've really accomplished a lot.
- 7:53Speaker 6: And I'm going to really miss not just the people
- 7:55Speaker 6: I work with, but the work that we got to
- 7:57Speaker 6: do because it was important. And I'm looking forward to
- 7:59Speaker 6: Market getting in there and putting his stamp on things.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Talk about Mark Hunt and he's going to be taken
- 8:04Speaker 3: over the office. What advice would you give to mister Hunt.
- 8:09Speaker 6: The advice that I would give to mister Hunt is
- 8:11Speaker 6: that the excitement that you feel on that first day
- 8:15Speaker 6: should give you the clarity to make a list of
- 8:18Speaker 6: things to do. And on the first day I sat
- 8:21Speaker 6: down at my desk within the first ten minutes and
- 8:24Speaker 6: I outlined ten priorities and every time that I accomplished
- 8:28Speaker 6: one of them, I checked it off. And nobody really
- 8:31Speaker 6: knows what that list is. Only I do. And I
- 8:33Speaker 6: remember sometime with sometime this year, we checked off the
- 8:38Speaker 6: final one of those things, and I felt incredibly grateful
- 8:44Speaker 6: for the people that helped me do it, but I
- 8:47Speaker 6: was ready to go. And I think I'm just excited
- 8:50Speaker 6: for somebody else to feel that immense weight and excitement
- 8:54Speaker 6: for that office and to really put their energy behind
- 8:58Speaker 6: their priorities.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Bo Let you, oh JB. And I've been saying this
- 9:01Speaker 3: a lot with a lot of our guests that have
- 9:03Speaker 3: been on the show. It's a pretty good time to
- 9:06Speaker 3: be a Republican in West Virginia right now, sir.
- 9:10Speaker 6: Yeah, So I am. My dad was in politics some
- 9:14Speaker 6: when I was a kid, and I went to a
- 9:17Speaker 6: lot of victory parties where we ended up being unsuccessful.
- 9:22Speaker 6: And for the last twelve years, I have been successful
- 9:25Speaker 6: in all of my races. And I'll tell you my
- 9:27Speaker 6: dad came up with me during my victory speech at
- 9:30Speaker 6: my victory party, and the look on his face of
- 9:33Speaker 6: not just pride in me, but I think of a
- 9:36Speaker 6: life well lived because all of us are standing on
- 9:39Speaker 6: the shoulders of those who who had to work through
- 9:43Speaker 6: times when it wasn't so good for Republicans. And so
- 9:45Speaker 6: I think there's a real gratefulness that all of us
- 9:47Speaker 6: need to look at for people like my dad and
- 9:50Speaker 6: my mom who really pushed the envelope and kept the
- 9:53Speaker 6: fight going in times when it wasn't so easy. And
- 9:57Speaker 6: so when people say it's a great time for Republicans,
- 10:00Speaker 6: I look back at people like my dad and George W.
- 10:02Speaker 6: Bush and for that matter, Shelley Moore Capito as well,
- 10:05Speaker 6: for building a party that was able to seize on
- 10:10Speaker 6: an opportunity and become as successful as we are today.
- 10:12Speaker 6: And now the people of West Virginia are looking to
- 10:15Speaker 6: us for solutions. Dave, It's time and time for us
- 10:17Speaker 6: as a legislature and an ex executive branch to start
- 10:20Speaker 6: deliver a smaller, more efficient, more effective government that educates
- 10:25Speaker 6: our children, provides first class infrastructure, and takes care of
- 10:29Speaker 6: people who have a little less of an opportunity than
- 10:32Speaker 6: we do, and gives them a real great path into
- 10:33Speaker 6: the middle class.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Before I let you go, I will give you an opportunity,
- 10:36Speaker 3: as I do with most of the candidates. Are actually
- 10:38Speaker 3: all the candidates that are on to give out thanks
- 10:41Speaker 3: your gratitude. It's your time.
- 10:45Speaker 6: So when you get to be the lawyer for the
- 10:49Speaker 6: people of the state, of West Virginia. It is an
- 10:52Speaker 6: honor that is kind of hard to describe. And so
- 10:56Speaker 6: to every single West Virginia that voted for me, and
- 10:59Speaker 6: do every single Way Virginia that took the time to vote,
- 11:01Speaker 6: even if you didn't vote for me, thank you for
- 11:04Speaker 6: caring enough about your state to get out there and
- 11:05Speaker 6: make your voice heard. I want everyone to know that
- 11:08Speaker 6: I will be representing you and I am just so
- 11:11Speaker 6: thankful for the opportunity to have grown up in West Virginia,
- 11:14Speaker 6: to have the value set that West Virginia gives you.
- 11:17Speaker 6: And I couldn't possibly be more excited to be the
- 11:20Speaker 6: advocate and the lawyer for the people that I love
- 11:22Speaker 6: the most.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Better to thank those girls in your life too, mister McCaskey, Well.
- 11:26Speaker 6: I do have a wonderful wife.
- 11:28Speaker 3: I'm just I'm trying to help you, buddy. I'm trying
- 11:30Speaker 3: to help you.
- 11:31Speaker 6: To the radio. You're doing a great job, Dave. You
- 11:33Speaker 6: know one of these days you're going to turn into
- 11:35Speaker 6: a hell of a husband too. You know, when you
- 11:38Speaker 6: do this job, it takes a real toll on your family,
- 11:42Speaker 6: and people say stuff about you and do things to you.
- 11:45Speaker 6: And my wife has been with me for the entirety
- 11:48Speaker 6: of my time. She's been my best friend, she's been
- 11:50Speaker 6: my wife, she's been the best mother in the entire world,
- 11:53Speaker 6: and she's been the political sounding board that almost nobody
- 11:59Speaker 6: probably has access too but me. And for all of
- 12:01Speaker 6: those reasons, she's just the absolute best. And my girls,
- 12:05Speaker 6: who have every opportunity to make life harder for me
- 12:09Speaker 6: as a nine and a seven year old, never do.
- 12:11Speaker 6: They're the best two little kids in the whole world,
- 12:13Speaker 6: and they make campaigning a real joy, especially when they
- 12:15Speaker 6: get to go with them.
- 12:16Speaker 3: All right, be safe on the road, sir, have yourself
- 12:19Speaker 3: a happy holiday season. We'll probably be talking to you.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Go ahead, yeah, you too.
- 12:23Speaker 6: My friend. Wonderful Thanksgiving, and everybody out there, be safe
- 12:26Speaker 6: if you're going to if you're going to kill some
- 12:28Speaker 6: deer and eat way too much and watch fall and
- 12:32Speaker 6: just come with everyone's family.
- 12:34Speaker 3: All right. I appreciate you, Sarah. We'll talk again soon.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Thanks a lot, Thanks my friend.

- 13:11Speaker 3: of texts here. Then we'll get to a million nicely

- 13:17Speaker 3: you really need to do a welfare check on Pushkin.
- 13:20Speaker 3: You know, I haven't heard from Mike in a while.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Stay the Democratic Party chair. He was re elected to
- 13:25Speaker 3: his position in the House as well, so give him
- 13:28Speaker 3: congrats on that. But mister Pushkin knows how to get
- 13:30Speaker 3: a hold of me right now. He's probably more embarrassed
- 13:34Speaker 3: about his football team, said the Dallas Cowboy fan. As
- 13:37Speaker 3: I am, so we you know, probably maybe misery loves company.
- 13:41Speaker 3: I don't know. Maybe we should get together, have lunch
- 13:43Speaker 3: or have a you know something, talk about it. But
- 13:45Speaker 3: mister Pushkin is welcome to be on the show anytime
- 13:48Speaker 3: that he wants to be. He knows that Tex says
- 13:53Speaker 3: George W. Bush built a government based on trillion dollar wars.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Shelley Capito has increased her wealth, while Western Virginia remains
- 14:01Speaker 3: at or near the bottom, and now JB says West

- 14:34Speaker 3: got it out. We're gonna talk to Fred Persinger about that.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Plus we're all excited because in forty eight hours from now,

- 17:33Speaker 3: a million nicely from West Virginia Watch a million. Good morning,
- 17:36Speaker 3: Welcome to the show.
- 17:36Speaker 7: Good morning, How are you.
- 17:37Speaker 3: I'm doing fine, Thanks for being here. One of these
- 17:40Speaker 3: stories that you reported on yesterday was the closing of
- 17:44Speaker 3: the West Virginia Children's Home in Elkins. Talk about this
- 17:48Speaker 3: facility what led to us? Just basically break it down,
- 17:51Speaker 3: tell us a whole story.
- 17:52Speaker 7: Sure, So let me start by saying, I don't know
- 17:54Speaker 7: the whole story because the Department of Human Services hasn't
- 17:57Speaker 7: responded to my emails. So there's that. But what I
- 18:00Speaker 7: do know is that this is a residential treatment facility
- 18:02Speaker 7: for children in foster care, typically kids who would not
- 18:07Speaker 7: do well in a traditional foster care placement, typically teens.
- 18:11Speaker 7: And I confirmed it through the Department of Education, which
- 18:14Speaker 7: operated a school there, a fully accredited school, that there
- 18:17Speaker 7: were a couple of kids there I think three, and
- 18:19Speaker 7: that it'll be closing at the end of the year.
- 18:22Speaker 7: I sat through a presentation last fall from the Department
- 18:25Speaker 7: of Human Services that said this facility had a lot
- 18:28Speaker 7: of structural issues, some safety issues that would cost a
- 18:31Speaker 7: lot of money to repair. So it is my thinking
- 18:34Speaker 7: that that probably played into the decision to close it.
- 18:36Speaker 7: But still haven't heard from the Department of Human Services,
- 18:39Speaker 7: and Governor Justice is having a briefing today and I
- 18:42Speaker 7: plan on asking him about it.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Yeah, that briefing, I think is scheduled for eleven this morning. Yes,
- 18:47Speaker 3: you find it and you know I'll follow you on X.
- 18:50Speaker 3: And by the way, if you don't follow Amelia nizely
- 18:52Speaker 3: an X, you certainly should glad that you were able
- 18:55Speaker 3: to get your van cleaned out. By the way, I
- 18:57Speaker 3: read that on except so it's.
- 18:58Speaker 7: Mostly journalism, but some about my life of being a
- 19:01Speaker 7: mom of three small children.
- 19:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I got you, I got you there. Okay. So
- 19:05Speaker 3: one of the things that I have I have seen
- 19:07Speaker 3: you write about on social media, uh and maybe in
- 19:09Speaker 3: your in your in your other writing as well, is
- 19:12Speaker 3: the frustration that that you and others you know, from
- 19:16Speaker 3: our our news organization, the others, and sometimes getting information
- 19:21Speaker 3: out of governmental agencies. And you kind of did a
- 19:24Speaker 3: a big of a big almost and the meltdown is
- 19:27Speaker 3: not the right word, but but no, you did, you
- 19:29Speaker 3: did a big piece on that on on X, bringing
- 19:32Speaker 3: in some other people that had said several similar things,
- 19:36Speaker 3: talk about that frustration with sometimes getting information out of
- 19:39Speaker 3: governmental agencies because it's not unique to you, it happens,
- 19:42Speaker 3: happens to a lot of people.
- 19:43Speaker 7: It does absolutely and hopefully not a meltdown, just hopefully
- 19:47Speaker 7: word okay, it's okay, it's early, just to be trying
- 19:50Speaker 7: to be transparent, right. So I think the frustration is
- 19:54Speaker 7: there is a push and pull between communications people and reporters.
- 19:58Speaker 7: We understand we can't get all the in for but
- 20:01Speaker 7: we want to give our readers the best story possible,
- 20:04Speaker 7: and in this case, we want to know how this
- 20:07Speaker 7: taxpayer funded agency is treating our most vulnerable children. Specifically
- 20:12Speaker 7: with this home. We want to know why is it
- 20:14Speaker 7: closing because it's using money, and also what are you
- 20:17Speaker 7: going to do with the kids that we're living there?
- 20:19Speaker 2: Right?
- 20:19Speaker 7: Those are simple questions, and also there are people that
- 20:22Speaker 7: are employed there who may want to know what their
- 20:24Speaker 7: future might look like. So it has been frustrating to
- 20:27Speaker 7: send emails the last few years and not even get
- 20:31Speaker 7: a response back. To send foya's, which are Freedom of
- 20:34Speaker 7: Information Act requests, and they just get kicked down the roads.
- 20:37Speaker 7: One of mine has now been delayed until December. The
- 20:40Speaker 7: end of December, the end of this administration. It's extremely frustrating.
- 20:45Speaker 7: And one of the reasons I shared that on X
- 20:47Speaker 7: This Morning is I think it's just really important for
- 20:50Speaker 7: people to understand the difference between local reporters and I'm
- 20:54Speaker 7: using air quotes that you.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Can see on the radio, but in like two months
- 20:58Speaker 3: you'll be able to see you come in here.
- 21:00Speaker 7: It's important for people to see us differently from the
- 21:03Speaker 7: media using those air quotes. We so many of us
- 21:05Speaker 7: are working hard to try to report on the use
- 21:08Speaker 7: of your money, how children are treated, how our schools
- 21:11Speaker 7: are funded, and when you can't get an email back.
- 21:14Speaker 7: And this is not a blanket statement. There are plenty
- 21:16Speaker 7: of agencies that have wonderful communication people, but particularly in
- 21:19Speaker 7: the health departments, it has been a very very frustrating process.
- 21:23Speaker 3: And I think sometimes and you and I have talked
- 21:25Speaker 3: about this on the show before, Emelia, sometimes I don't
- 21:28Speaker 3: want to say hide behind, but sometimes maybe they use
- 21:31Speaker 3: the shield of anonymity with the young with the young kids,
- 21:34Speaker 3: which we completely understand. I mean, you mentioned and you
- 21:37Speaker 3: post about it all the time. You know, the joy
- 21:39Speaker 3: of your life are your daughters. Yes, you are the
- 21:43Speaker 3: last person in the world that's going to do anything
- 21:45Speaker 3: to want to put any kids in jeopardy. And I
- 21:48Speaker 3: am and I'm like you. I mean nothing, nothing grinds
- 21:51Speaker 3: the gears more than of Dave Allen, anymore than people
- 21:53Speaker 3: say the media. I mean, what the hell is the media?
- 21:56Speaker 3: You know, It's like there's a big building downtown that
- 21:58Speaker 3: just says media and that's where Metro News is and
- 22:01Speaker 3: the TV stations and that's where CNN or Fox or
- 22:04Speaker 3: in miss you know, we're all in there together. We're
- 22:07Speaker 3: just trying to tell a story of most of us,
- 22:10Speaker 3: what ninety five percent of us are more are West Virginians, Yes,
- 22:14Speaker 3: are from here in many times in the Kanawha Valley.
- 22:18Speaker 3: In your case, you're from here, And you're just trying
- 22:21Speaker 3: to tell a story and perhaps shed some light on
- 22:24Speaker 3: some things to make sure that these things don't happen again,
- 22:27Speaker 3: Because Amelia, it's over and over again with these stories
- 22:31Speaker 3: and they're all related. In the fact, this is that
- 22:34Speaker 3: kids are frequently getting screwed over in West Virginia.
- 22:37Speaker 7: Yeah, that's the thing. I mean, I don't think I
- 22:40Speaker 7: don't wake up every day thinking that everything is a
- 22:42Speaker 7: nefarious plan to hurt children. I just want to tell
- 22:45Speaker 7: the most accurate story. But unfortunately a lot of times
- 22:48Speaker 7: when I lean into these stories and dig into them,
- 22:50Speaker 7: it turns out that children aren't being taken care of.
- 22:53Speaker 7: I can't tell you if that's true with this children's
- 22:55Speaker 7: home situation because they haven't responded to me. But yeah,
- 22:58Speaker 7: I mean, the work important and I want to keep
- 23:01Speaker 7: doing it. And the thing is, many of us, you know, Brad,
- 23:04Speaker 7: Michael Honey, Steve nine Adams, many of us have been
- 23:06Speaker 7: here for years, so we have other ways of confirming thing.
- 23:10Speaker 7: Just because you don't respond to us doesn't kill the story.
- 23:13Speaker 7: But gosh, it would be so much better for our
- 23:15Speaker 7: readers for transparency if we could hear why you're doing
- 23:18Speaker 7: the things that you're doing. So we'll just keep digging.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Talking to a million nicely from West Virginia watching Dave
- 23:23Speaker 3: Land Show and five adiel Ie brought to you apart
- 23:25Speaker 3: by your hometown baseball team, the Charleston Dirty Birds. The
- 23:27Speaker 3: Birds and Selanga Law presenting the Selanga Law Light the
- 23:30Speaker 3: Night every night except Christmas night at Gomart Ballpark. You
- 23:33Speaker 3: can follow the Dirty Birds on Facebook for details and
- 23:36Speaker 3: you know, every day or every night they have something
- 23:38Speaker 3: different going on. A matter of fact, Andy Shaef and
- 23:40Speaker 3: the Dirty Birds is going to be in here tomorrow
- 23:42Speaker 3: because they've got something that they're doing with AARP which
- 23:45Speaker 3: is really cool, and we'll talk to Andy of the
- 23:47Speaker 3: Dirty Birds about that. We do urge you to get
- 23:49Speaker 3: your tickets ahead of time. Please do that. Dblightthnight dot com.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Dblightthnight dot com. So here's a million dollar question, the
- 23:57Speaker 3: million Amelia question. How do we get to the place
- 24:00Speaker 3: where we have better accounting of child issues in West Virginia.
- 24:04Speaker 7: We need transparency and with a new governor coming in
- 24:07Speaker 7: in just a couple of months, I think that's a
- 24:09Speaker 7: critical time to up that transparency. I will say what
- 24:12Speaker 7: I have seen from Governor elect Patrick Morrissey's team so
- 24:16Speaker 7: far is very willing to work with reporters. We hope
- 24:19Speaker 7: that continues. And we you know, there's also some changes
- 24:24Speaker 7: potentially in law through the legislature about how they share
- 24:28Speaker 7: child welfare information and making it more timely, especially when
- 24:31Speaker 7: a child dies, like in the case of Kennedy Miller.
- 24:33Speaker 7: So there are some hopeful positive things on the horizon.
- 24:36Speaker 7: And you know, as reporters. We're just here to listen
- 24:39Speaker 7: and learn and keep doing our best reporting as well.
- 24:41Speaker 3: It seems though that there has been and again I'm
- 24:44Speaker 3: not picking on the Justice administration because this has happened
- 24:47Speaker 3: in other administrations nationwide as well, that there seems like
- 24:50Speaker 3: an almost adversarial relationship between the two. And look, I
- 24:55Speaker 3: haven't done I'm not a journalist. I've said that over
- 24:57Speaker 3: and over again on the show. I'm just a gap
- 24:59Speaker 3: that talks on the radio. I'm not a journalist. However,
- 25:02Speaker 3: I have been around this, and I've been on the
- 25:03Speaker 3: other side, you know, having worked in state government, I've
- 25:05Speaker 3: been on the other side, and both sides just have
- 25:08Speaker 3: a job to do, and it's keeping the people informed.
- 25:12Speaker 3: And on the other side, I know it's not easy.
- 25:14Speaker 3: I mean, and I could tell you having worked in
- 25:16Speaker 3: state government, the amount of foyas that you get just
- 25:18Speaker 3: pile up, and some of them are totally pointless. Some
- 25:21Speaker 3: of them are and you will be willing to do it,
- 25:23Speaker 3: meant that. But if it's from a reputable news source,
- 25:27Speaker 3: you know, like you guys, or Steven Allen with Adams
- 25:32Speaker 3: with aug Newspapers, Brad McIlhaney, there's some merit for the
- 25:37Speaker 3: investigation going on, and we have.
- 25:39Speaker 7: Wonderful communications people in the state that you can call
- 25:41Speaker 7: up and say this is what I'm looking into, and
- 25:44Speaker 7: they'll say, this is what I can do for you,
- 25:46Speaker 7: and you can have a conversation that is still out there,
- 25:51Speaker 7: and you know, I just hope that that improves in
- 25:53Speaker 7: the next administration.
- 25:55Speaker 4: For sure.
- 25:56Speaker 3: I have noticed over the years with with attorney general
- 25:59Speaker 3: and governor like Patrick Morrissey, that that especially when he
- 26:04Speaker 3: was when he wasn't running for office and he was
- 26:06Speaker 3: just I don't mean, I don't mean to downplay us,
- 26:07Speaker 3: and he was just the attorney general, but he and
- 26:11Speaker 3: his team seem to be very good about that about
- 26:14Speaker 3: reaching out to uh to this to me, particularly in saying, hey,
- 26:18Speaker 3: we'd like to have you, uh, would you like to
- 26:21Speaker 3: have the ag on to talk about this? And you know,
- 26:25Speaker 3: the only thing we can hope is is that with
- 26:27Speaker 3: the Morrissey administration that that continues because he's kind of
- 26:31Speaker 3: got a history of that of communicating pretty well with
- 26:34Speaker 3: the media.
- 26:35Speaker 7: I think so. And I also think a key component
- 26:37Speaker 7: of that is who gets into these cabinet positions if
- 26:40Speaker 7: there is a change in leadership. You know, I mostly
- 26:43Speaker 7: cover the Department of Human Services, so I can really
- 26:45Speaker 7: only speak to that. But you know, there are cultural
- 26:49Speaker 7: things that have been in place under various Cabinet secretaries, right,
- 26:52Speaker 7: So it's really going to have to be a culture
- 26:54Speaker 7: shift of being willing to work with the media, being
- 26:56Speaker 7: able to come to an agreement about what can be
- 26:58Speaker 7: shared when it comes to children, for example. Right. So, Yeah,
- 27:01Speaker 7: I think it's on both Governor ele like Patrick Morrissey
- 27:04Speaker 7: and then people that he may appoint to these positions
- 27:06Speaker 7: to say, how can we make this a better relationship
- 27:09Speaker 7: for the good of the public.
- 27:10Speaker 3: That is key? What was this? I guess I saw
- 27:14Speaker 3: and I'm not on TikTok. The only thing I ever
- 27:15Speaker 3: see on TikTok is what people share on other social
- 27:18Speaker 3: media sites. But I guess some comments from Roger Hanshaw
- 27:22Speaker 3: House Speaker Handshaw. Yeah, And I mean I'm going through
- 27:27Speaker 3: X I guess yesterday and I see that House Speaker
- 27:30Speaker 3: Handshall speaking. Then I see Kaylee Young, like Kaylee Young's
- 27:32Speaker 3: face pop up, and I see TikTok. I'm like, Okay,
- 27:34Speaker 3: I'm not going to understand this. This is TikTok. What was
- 27:36Speaker 3: that all about?
- 27:37Speaker 11: Yeah?
- 27:37Speaker 7: So I am a newer to TikTok person to share news.
- 27:41Speaker 7: I wanted to get on there, so I covered an
- 27:43Speaker 7: audit subcommittee last week. Sounds boring, but it never is.
- 27:46Speaker 7: Audits are amazing and that I know.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Ryan, if you could roll tape for a future promo
- 27:52Speaker 3: on that, you know, audits are amazing, says Amelia Isley.
- 27:55Speaker 7: Yes, still twelve years into reporting.
- 27:57Speaker 5: Love an audit.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Nothing like a good audio.
- 28:00Speaker 7: So this audit particularly was about the shortage of full
- 28:04Speaker 7: time nurses at are state owned facilities, long term care facilities,
- 28:07Speaker 7: psychiatric facilities.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Et cetera.
- 28:09Speaker 7: And one of the points of the audit that stood
- 28:12Speaker 7: out to me, Now, let's just be clear, this audit
- 28:14Speaker 7: was done. I think it completed in twenty twenty three,
- 28:16Speaker 7: so pre DHR split. But one point that stood out
- 28:20Speaker 7: to me was that the hiring process typically took six
- 28:22Speaker 7: hundred and.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Eighty eight days. Now, let that sink in for a moment,
- 28:26Speaker 3: and that's exactly what Speaker Hanshaw said, six hundred eighty
- 28:30Speaker 3: eight days.
- 28:31Speaker 7: Yes, and so Delegate Young Kayla Young, Democrat from Kenock County,
- 28:35Speaker 7: was the only she was the first one to say, hey,
- 28:38Speaker 7: excuse me, six hundred plus days to post a job.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Well, if he's fair, the others may have been asleep,
- 28:43Speaker 3: because not everybody shares your excitement for audits.
- 28:45Speaker 7: But I'm going to give Wamaker's credit. But you could
- 28:47Speaker 7: be right.
- 28:47Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 28:48Speaker 7: But speaker Roger Hanshaw, normally very quiet, really speaks thoughtfully.
- 28:53Speaker 7: I think is an accurate depiction of him. He said,
- 28:57Speaker 7: can anyone talk about this? Anyone? And said that is
- 29:00Speaker 7: among one of the most ridiculous things I've heard lately.
- 29:03Speaker 3: That's the reason.
- 29:05Speaker 7: They said. It was something to do with the division
- 29:08Speaker 7: of personnel, but they no longer work with them, so
- 29:11Speaker 7: the process has improved. They couldn't really give a clear
- 29:14Speaker 7: picturesque to what happened back then. They had their finance
- 29:17Speaker 7: officer there, not the cabinet secretary. But yeah, you know,
- 29:22Speaker 7: it hopefully has improved. They say it's improved. I noted
- 29:25Speaker 7: that in my story. But it was quite a shocker
- 29:29Speaker 7: there to see the six hundred and eighty eight days.
- 29:31Speaker 7: And you know, beyond being a shocking statistic, the real
- 29:36Speaker 7: life consequence of that is that we have been heavily
- 29:38Speaker 7: reliant on contract nurses to fill these positions. They cost
- 29:41Speaker 7: way more than full time nurses. It keeps West Virginians
- 29:45Speaker 7: from getting jobs right when they're stuck in this government
- 29:48Speaker 7: crazy flowchart. And we've had several contract nurses connected to
- 29:52Speaker 7: crimes and a patient death at these hospitals because the
- 29:56Speaker 7: vetting is very different for a contract employee than a
- 29:58Speaker 7: full time nurse. So beyond that crazy data point, there
- 30:01Speaker 7: are some real concerns about our reliance on contact nurses
- 30:04Speaker 7: in West Virginia.
- 30:05Speaker 3: And I'm glad you brought that up because people are
- 30:06Speaker 3: sitting at home going, Okay, six hundred and eighty eight
- 30:08Speaker 3: day seems to be a little bit ridiculous. But there are,
- 30:10Speaker 3: as you said, and you put it out very nicely there, nicely,
- 30:15Speaker 3: that there are real life consequences. I mean, we're talking
- 30:19Speaker 3: in many cases sadly, Amelia. It's been life and death.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:22Speaker 7: I mean, I don't know if we talked about on
- 30:24Speaker 7: this show, but a story I did earlier this year
- 30:26Speaker 7: was that an elderly man at Hopemont, which is one
- 30:29Speaker 7: of our state owned facilities for long term care. I mean,
- 30:32Speaker 7: he died due to significant burns that he experienced in
- 30:36Speaker 7: basically a boiling whirlpool. I mean I read the report.
- 30:39Speaker 7: His skin melted off and the employees who were fired
- 30:43Speaker 7: in that incident at least half, if maybe all, were
- 30:45Speaker 7: contact nurses for their neglige you know what I will
- 30:48Speaker 7: say was alleged negligence. So yeah, I mean there's consequences
- 30:52Speaker 7: to these situations. And as you know, they are considering
- 30:56Speaker 7: selling the state owned facilities to a private buyer, and
- 30:59Speaker 7: some of that is has it's just costing so much money.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Happy did a piece on that. I think it was
- 31:03Speaker 3: maybe on Friday show when he talked about that. Is
- 31:06Speaker 3: that something that I mean, I've obviously something that needs
- 31:09Speaker 3: to be looked at. I would think, yeah, I think so.
- 31:12Speaker 7: I mean I don't have a side on you know,
- 31:14Speaker 7: what's right round for sure, but yeah, I mean they
- 31:16Speaker 7: are costing a lot of money, and you want patients
- 31:18Speaker 7: to have their best care. I think what I've heard
- 31:20Speaker 7: from lawmakers in different parts of the state where these
- 31:23Speaker 7: facilities are some feel like their facility would be better
- 31:27Speaker 7: off privatized. Others feel like their facilities are running great,
- 31:30Speaker 7: have lots of full time nurses, are you know, really
- 31:33Speaker 7: a center of their community and giving great care. And
- 31:36Speaker 7: the concern with switching to private is that they could
- 31:39Speaker 7: deny some of these harder to care for patients right now,
- 31:41Speaker 7: being stay owned, there's minimal reasons to deny patients if
- 31:45Speaker 7: any I don't know the ins and outs that right,
- 31:47Speaker 7: But but private it changes. They may not want to
- 31:49Speaker 7: take these seventy five year old psych patient who has
- 31:53Speaker 7: a lot of things that could go wrong in a facility.
- 31:55Speaker 7: So those are kind of the things to look at
- 31:57Speaker 7: moving forward and circling back to our transparency conversation. In September,
- 32:02Speaker 7: I filed a FOYA for the contract. That's so boring,
- 32:05Speaker 7: the contract that the state is using for the broker
- 32:09Speaker 7: to sell the hospitals. That's so boring, right, But I
- 32:12Speaker 7: just wanted to look at the contract, and that is
- 32:14Speaker 7: the FOYA that's been kicked to December, a contract using
- 32:18Speaker 7: our state dollars. So it is extremely frustrating.
- 32:20Speaker 3: I mean, that should be just a simple black or
- 32:22Speaker 3: white here's the contract.
- 32:23Speaker 7: I mean, and I've gone to the auditor, I've gone
- 32:25Speaker 7: other ways to get it. But when we split DHHR,
- 32:27Speaker 7: we exempted this agency from purchasing, so they are the
- 32:31Speaker 7: holders of the contract and they will not give it
- 32:33Speaker 7: to me. So here we are.
- 32:35Speaker 3: You mentioned that the governor has a presser at eleven yes,
- 32:38Speaker 3: this morning. He's kind of busy day for the governor.
- 32:40Speaker 3: I was going to talk about it a little bit
- 32:41Speaker 3: later on. He's also going to be on the campus
- 32:42Speaker 3: of West Virginia State and they're going to have the
- 32:44Speaker 3: groundbreaking I think for their egg yes a center. And
- 32:46Speaker 3: then for those of us that live in in Putnam County,
- 32:50Speaker 3: the I sixty four project is open, has been for
- 32:53Speaker 3: a week a couple of weeks now, but not open
- 32:56Speaker 3: till Big Jim says it's open. And so they're going
- 32:58Speaker 3: to have a little ceremony I think around two this
- 33:00Speaker 3: afternoon in Nitro Uh to dedicate that that that that
- 33:05Speaker 3: stretch of highway. So what else are you working on today?
- 33:09Speaker 3: I mean other than the government? It was well, I
- 33:10Speaker 3: don't want to scoop myself yourself, but what do you got?
- 33:13Speaker 7: I am looking at legislation that we could see next year.
- 33:17Speaker 7: So I am calling lawmakers and looking at some of
- 33:20Speaker 7: the bigger bills that we saw die. Last year was
- 33:23Speaker 7: kind of a crazy session, right, so whether it's limitations
- 33:28Speaker 7: on women and how do I say it was men
- 33:31Speaker 7: and women's sports, vaccination bills, et cetera. All the kind
- 33:34Speaker 7: of high profile bills that didn't really make it across
- 33:36Speaker 7: the finish line, just kind of circling back and saying
- 33:38Speaker 7: what we see these next year.
- 33:40Speaker 3: All right, and people can read yourself West Virginia Watch
- 33:43Speaker 3: and follow. I've talked about your role on X the
- 33:46Speaker 3: artist wo Man known as Twitter, but it actually comes
- 33:49Speaker 3: from somewhere else. So talk about West Virginia Watch briefly.
- 33:51Speaker 7: Yes, West Virginia Watch is a nonprofit news source. Here
- 33:54Speaker 7: we cover statewide issues, mostly focused on government and vulnerable people.
- 33:57Speaker 7: We are free, you know, paywall, and papers across the
- 34:00Speaker 7: state can use our content for free. So we regularly
- 34:02Speaker 7: appear in local papers and we are so proud of
- 34:05Speaker 7: that part of our mission of providing news to US Virginia.
- 34:08Speaker 3: All Right, Millie, I appreciate you being here. Thanks a lot,
- 34:10Speaker 3: have a happy Thanksgiving. If I don't talk to you
- 34:12Speaker 3: YouTube now, then all right, thanks a lot. We're going
- 34:13Speaker 3: to take a break. Maybe you could do something about
- 34:15Speaker 3: the high school playoff situation.
- 34:17Speaker 7: Oh my gosh, I would love to.
- 34:19Speaker 3: I's going to say you might have better luck getting
- 34:21Speaker 3: your foyas back than you want to figure this out.
- 34:23Speaker 11: That's true.
- 34:24Speaker 7: The merger of courts and sports, that's a real sweet
- 34:26Speaker 7: spot there.
- 34:27Speaker 3: Yeah, it is, so we're going to talk to Fred
- 34:29Speaker 3: Persinger about that. We'll be back right after this. I'm

- 37:22Speaker 3: the hall this morning with paper in hand, saying we
- 37:25Speaker 3: got a breakthrough, right right, right, Yeah.
- 37:27Speaker 2: We did.
- 37:28Speaker 4: Okay, has nothing to do with football, although I was
- 37:31Speaker 4: talking about something else. You know, they always say news,
- 37:34Speaker 4: something's always happening. Nothing's happening, nothing is happening. And yesterday
- 37:41Speaker 4: the SSAC and the Wood County and Mason County Powers
- 37:45Speaker 4: to Be got all their stuff into the West Virginia
- 37:48Speaker 4: State Supreme Court. And that's where it sits right now.
- 37:51Speaker 4: When the Supreme Court will act on it.
- 37:53Speaker 3: I have no idea.
- 37:54Speaker 4: I talked with David Price yesterday, and David is in
- 37:58Speaker 4: the same boat as everyone else. Just hurry up and
- 38:00Speaker 4: wait or just wait and hurry up about it. He's
- 38:04Speaker 4: already passed. Yeah, really, just wait. He said something that's
- 38:07Speaker 4: kind of surprised to me, because what was the deadline
- 38:12Speaker 4: of knowing everything can play this weekend?
- 38:15Speaker 3: What would be the drop dead date? He said, Thursday.
- 38:20Speaker 3: That's close, that's very close.
- 38:22Speaker 4: He did also say that it would be they would
- 38:25Speaker 4: be willing to allow teams to play on Sunday if
- 38:29Speaker 4: they so desire. So I have to wait and see.
- 38:32Speaker 4: Hopefully it comes down today. Games are scheduled Friday and
- 38:35Speaker 4: Saturday or game night. Hopefully it's all Friday, but we'll
- 38:39Speaker 4: see how it goes well.
- 38:41Speaker 3: And again I think that Thursday deadline or the timeframe
- 38:45Speaker 3: that he put out there, because I always think about
- 38:46Speaker 3: it from a journalism standard and a media standpoint. I
- 38:48Speaker 3: always think, well, you're trying to get people in place
- 38:50Speaker 3: and making sure people get but you know, we'll be okay,
- 38:55Speaker 3: we'll adapt immediately. Fine, we'll be fine. But I go
- 38:59Speaker 3: back to okay, coaches, and we gotta and now we're
- 39:02Speaker 3: gonna factor weather into us in certain areas of the state,
- 39:05Speaker 3: not so much here, but it is definitely gonna be colder.
- 39:08Speaker 3: But I think by the weekend it's gonna warm up
- 39:10Speaker 3: a little bit. But yeah, I mean that's that's not
- 39:12Speaker 3: a heck of a lot of time. Even if you
- 39:14Speaker 3: play on Sunday, Fred and I.
- 39:15Speaker 4: Think, what's gonna happen. You're gonna see some teams that
- 39:18Speaker 4: think they're playing one team and they're gonna play another team,
- 39:21Speaker 4: and you have to get ready for that team. I mean,
- 39:23Speaker 4: you just don't throw them out there and say go
- 39:25Speaker 4: get them boys. You know, even though the boys ready
- 39:27Speaker 4: to go, I guarantee you they're wanting to play. So
- 39:29Speaker 4: I don't know, I hopefully it won't come to that.
- 39:32Speaker 4: It shouldn't come to that. I don't know what would
- 39:35Speaker 4: make the Supreme Court want to wait so long to
- 39:37Speaker 4: make a decision. I was hoping optimistically for yesterday afternoon.
- 39:42Speaker 4: That certainly passed. So I'm hoping today before two o'clock.
- 39:46Speaker 4: That would be nice. It would be great, it would
- 39:48Speaker 4: be nice, and we'll see, maybe it comes down even
- 39:50Speaker 4: sooner than that. I know they have replaced State Supreme
- 39:55Speaker 4: Court Justice Wooton because he accused himself and they put
- 39:58Speaker 4: Tom Tom Yeah, talking from Fayette County, and so they
- 40:03Speaker 4: do have a five full court justice.
- 40:04Speaker 3: So was Wooden was he was recused or recused himself?
- 40:08Speaker 3: I guess because his family had done some work with
- 40:11Speaker 3: the lawyer. He was the lawyer.
- 40:14Speaker 4: Okay, see a long time ago, I would have thought
- 40:16Speaker 4: that would have passed been now. But still if he
- 40:18Speaker 4: thinks there's something he you know, that's the right thing
- 40:20Speaker 4: to do, that's the right thing to do. So against
- 40:23Speaker 4: Steve Gandhi now and that loss is out of Clarksburg
- 40:26Speaker 4: is now the attorneys for the WVSSAC. So again, we
- 40:29Speaker 4: have nothing right now at this very moment, at what
- 40:32Speaker 4: is it, nine seven, nothing's going on right now, all is.
- 40:36Speaker 3: There's nothing to report at this time, but when there is,
- 40:39Speaker 3: we'll have fingers crossed. Later today, we'll have it on air,
- 40:42Speaker 3: we'll have it online, we'll have it on all the socials.
- 40:44Speaker 3: We'll have it and you'll be right there.
- 40:45Speaker 4: And hopefully you have association with the WSSA c our
- 40:48Speaker 4: partnership with them. Metro News has been told. I have
- 40:52Speaker 4: personally been told that we will know first, so we
- 40:55Speaker 4: will know as soon as they know, and you will
- 40:57Speaker 4: know when we know.
- 40:58Speaker 3: That's right. Right now, we don't know.
- 41:00Speaker 4: We don't know.
- 41:02Speaker 3: So it reminds me.
- 41:03Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 41:04Speaker 3: It's just the ad.
- 41:06Speaker 4: Courts and in the high school sport man, you get
- 41:08Speaker 4: courts and the high school sports involved.
- 41:10Speaker 3: Nothing good can come, nothing good, nothing all right, that's say, Well,
- 41:13Speaker 3: hopefully the good thing will be a little news later
- 41:15Speaker 3: in the morning.
- 41:16Speaker 4: Fred, I think if we don't know by this afternoon,
- 41:19Speaker 4: then I think we know.
- 41:22Speaker 3: Okay. If we don't know, then we know, I think
- 41:23Speaker 3: we do.
- 41:24Speaker 8: Okay, do you know?
- 41:25Speaker 3: I think we'll know that? Got it?
- 41:27Speaker 7: You know?
- 41:28Speaker 4: Talking about I don't I don't know, Fred Persauge, that
- 41:32Speaker 4: was that was Saturday, n A gun I missed it.

- 49:56Speaker 3: to be in person, that is on Thursday night at
- 49:59Speaker 3: the Culture Center on the Capitol Grounds. Kat Skeldon has
- 50:03Speaker 3: a story posted this morning wv metronews dot com about
- 50:06Speaker 3: the school building authorities fielding requests for the nearly thirty counties.
- 50:11Speaker 3: I think it was twenty eight total who won a
- 50:13Speaker 3: piece of this fifty four million dollars that the SBA
- 50:17Speaker 3: has to give out now. Kanawha County School Board Superintendent
- 50:20Speaker 3: Tom Williams was one of those hoping for the funding.
- 50:23Speaker 3: The KANAW board proposing, as you know by now, to
- 50:26Speaker 3: build a new East end of the County elementary school
- 50:31Speaker 3: that will consolidate Bell Malden, Midland Trail and Mary Ingles
- 50:34Speaker 3: elementary schools. Putnam County also hoping to get funding for
- 50:38Speaker 3: the new Hurricane Middle School, which has been in operation
- 50:41Speaker 3: since nineteen fifty. Voters in Putnam County a couple of
- 50:45Speaker 3: weeks ago, of course, approved a multi million dollar bond
- 50:48Speaker 3: on election day for the construction of the new school,
- 50:51Speaker 3: which would be built next to Hurricane High School. They
- 50:56Speaker 3: have about forty million dollars about another twenty five from
- 51:01Speaker 3: what I understand from the SBA to complete the projects.
- 51:04Speaker 3: And those are just some of the requests that are
- 51:05Speaker 3: out here. They're from all over the state, as you
- 51:07Speaker 3: may imagine.
- 51:08Speaker 7: Now.
- 51:08Speaker 3: The decisions are expected to be announced on December sixteenth,
- 51:11Speaker 3: when the SBA has their meeting in Charleston. As I
- 51:17Speaker 3: mentioned earlier, and we'll close with this, the governor is
- 51:20Speaker 3: going to be quite quite busy today. He's got a
- 51:23Speaker 3: media briefing schedule for later this morning. Then he'll be
- 51:26Speaker 3: on the campus of West Virginia States as they have
- 51:29Speaker 3: their groundbreaking of their agriculture center there, and as I
- 51:34Speaker 3: mentioned we're talking with Amelia earlier, this has been an
- 51:37Speaker 3: eagerly anticipated day by those of us who travel I
- 51:42Speaker 3: sixty four daily between Putnam County and Canowa County. The
- 51:46Speaker 3: governor will take part in the official dedication of the
- 51:51Speaker 3: I sixty four upgrade project, which I believe started somewhere
- 51:55Speaker 3: like in nineteen twenty three or so. I'm not sure,
- 51:58Speaker 3: it seems like again. For those of us to travel
- 52:00Speaker 3: that road every day, it seems like it's been going
- 52:04Speaker 3: on forever, but it's wide open there now. It's seventy
- 52:09Speaker 3: all the way and it's been that way for about
- 52:11Speaker 3: two weeks or so.
- 52:12Speaker 6: Now.
- 52:13Speaker 3: The Governor will take part in that official dedication for
- 52:16Speaker 3: it's going to be held in Nitro at two o'clock
- 52:19Speaker 3: this afternoon, all right, thanks to a million nicely from
