- 1:39Speaker 2: All right, Well, welcome to our episode, this time all
- 1:43Speaker 2: about awesome animals. Awesome animals. Yeah, we have a themed
- 1:48Speaker 2: episode for the first time you but it just so
- 1:51Speaker 2: kind of fell in my lap uh. And that's partially
- 1:54Speaker 2: thanks to one of our listeners will William M, thank you,
- 1:57Speaker 2: William Hell what man inspiring this idea? And I'll tell
- 2:02Speaker 2: you why once we get to that part of the show.
- 2:04Speaker 2: But for those just listening who've never heard us before, Wow,
- 2:07Speaker 2: so sorry to start off like this. We are a
- 2:10Speaker 2: We are a panel show inspired podcast. We play three
- 2:13Speaker 2: silly games every episode, and we have a lot of
- 2:15Speaker 2: fun doing so, and generally a lot of laughs. There
- 2:17Speaker 2: is nothing at stake. The winner gets nothing, The loser
- 2:20Speaker 2: gets spanked. I want to lose, not a fun way though.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna lose this episode.
- 2:26Speaker 2: You get spanked with a meat hammer, which end.
- 2:35Speaker 3: He is the handle.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I basically just throw the hammer at anyway, have the
- 2:46Speaker 2: bro So, uh, we're gonna do our quick introductions here.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Our first player is a gamer and a storyteller, and
- 2:58Speaker 2: he used to be my youngest friend. Now he's Aggie.
- 3:05Speaker 2: He's again whenever he's away.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Well then yes, I've forgotten everything up to that point.
- 3:30Speaker 2: It's like a mind wife. Huh what is what is
- 3:35Speaker 2: the funniest thing that a pet of yours does?
- 3:42Speaker 3: God? Dude, I grew up with animals, like I mean
- 3:46Speaker 3: my it's no uh secret that my passion for animals
- 3:51Speaker 3: definitely comes with both my growing up alongside them, my
- 3:54Speaker 3: whole life, but also you know Sibar and an animal
- 3:56Speaker 3: Planet and the other and the other conservation yourself there
- 3:59Speaker 3: include Jane Goodall and all that and uh got. Animals
- 4:05Speaker 3: were like siblings, and they did the funniest shit when
- 4:10Speaker 3: they thought no one was looking, especially my cats. I
- 4:12Speaker 3: had the weirdest cats. And many people would say, oh,
- 4:16Speaker 3: this is orange cat behavior. But I had a cat,
- 4:19Speaker 3: an orange cat named Salem. He used to be a
- 4:22Speaker 3: fair He was a feral kitten. Brought him in, raised him.
- 4:26Speaker 3: The most cuddliest cat. You'll love them eat, but he
- 4:30Speaker 3: did not have a very good digestive system. I don't
- 4:32Speaker 3: know what was going on. It must have been the
- 4:34Speaker 3: food we were giving them. Seems to be the running
- 4:37Speaker 3: theme for a lot of unfortunate cat stomach issues. But nonetheless,
- 4:42Speaker 3: this cat, however, would go to the bathroom, and if
- 4:46Speaker 3: it was bad, you know it was bad because he
- 4:50Speaker 3: wouldn't just go to the bathroom and just kind of like,
- 4:54Speaker 3: oh and scurry away. He would sprint from wherever the
- 4:58Speaker 3: litter box was, who was far possible away he could
- 5:02Speaker 3: in the house he was in, and that was your
- 5:06Speaker 3: only only warning.
- 5:09Speaker 6: That a wave of nuclear nasty stench was about to
- 5:16Speaker 6: come up like a fucking after shot on a fucking airplane.
- 5:21Speaker 3: Into your nostrils and just get hit. He had the
- 5:27Speaker 3: foullest stenches, but his reaction was always the most hilarious
- 5:31Speaker 3: because when I had our buddy Cyber over, and he
- 5:34Speaker 3: loves telling the story too, because when I had my
- 5:37Speaker 3: buddy's side, he would he was there, he witnessed it.
- 5:41Speaker 3: All of a sudden, he just sees my cat saalem
- 5:43Speaker 3: just go whipping ass pass by, and my reaction is,
- 5:46Speaker 3: oh shit, I know what just happened. So I'm getting
- 5:48Speaker 3: up with like like aerosol spray, like airfreshener spray, running
- 5:53Speaker 3: towards the litter box, and he's confused. He's like, oh god,
- 5:57Speaker 3: it's something wrong that the cat get into something they
- 5:59Speaker 3: can't her or whatever. He gets up, he takes two
- 6:01Speaker 3: steps and he says like it was like getting fucking
- 6:04Speaker 3: gassed in World War One.
- 6:10Speaker 2: He's like, oh my.
- 6:11Speaker 3: God, I missed that cat. But yeah, there's so many,
- 6:19Speaker 3: but that probably stood out the most.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Wow and Orange Cat name his opponent and regular team
- 6:30Speaker 2: UH leader, regular contestant I don't know, but that's weirdo. Yeah, yeah,
- 6:36Speaker 2: you are weirdo. He is a podcaster and a storyteller,
- 6:39Speaker 2: not a storyteller's I'm mixing up your intros. He has
- 6:43Speaker 2: a story and a veteran podcaster. It's Stevie. Goddamn it,
- 6:49Speaker 2: it's Steve.
- 6:50Speaker 5: Steve funny story just legitimately like trying to get past
- 7:00Speaker 5: the nuclear stench.
- 7:02Speaker 3: I told you, man, it's terrible, even after all.
- 7:05Speaker 5: These years hearing about it, this legend prior to this,
- 7:10Speaker 5: like multiple times, dude, like radiation, it's crazy.
- 7:14Speaker 1: It's fucking nuts, but fucking funny. Quick story.
- 7:17Speaker 5: I was at work and I do work in the school,
- 7:20Speaker 5: and apparently when I switched to my flip phone and
- 7:23Speaker 5: I started using that, one said my other phone, the
- 7:24Speaker 5: volume was on and my intro is my ring tone,
- 7:29Speaker 5: and I'm just like I thought it was in my head.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I'm like.
- 7:34Speaker 5: What, woh no, And I'm running to the other side
- 7:37Speaker 5: of the kitchen trying to get to my phone because
- 7:38Speaker 5: it stop playing music and it's all you hear through
- 7:41Speaker 5: the cafeteria. I'm just like, so I shut it off
- 7:44Speaker 5: real quick, and I'm like quiet, and I'm like I
- 7:46Speaker 5: don't hear anything out there and.
- 7:48Speaker 2: I walk out.
- 7:49Speaker 5: Luckily there was nobody around, and I'm just like, I
- 7:52Speaker 5: gotta change my ring tone because of work.
- 7:54Speaker 1: That sucks.
- 7:57Speaker 5: So you sed to just have any vibrator silent or something.
- 8:00Speaker 5: But it just hit me because it happened like two
- 8:02Speaker 5: days ago.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, and finally I'm your host pantcils Aaron, Oh
- 8:09Speaker 2: you hit it some stones for a hell yeah?
- 8:26Speaker 1: Hell's yes, sir, And uh mine isn't.
- 8:30Speaker 2: I don't think as funny as either of yours.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I didn't give you one.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Yours wasn't an animal story.
- 8:36Speaker 7: I didn't.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Just forgets about error just ship.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Sometimes Salem's gas came in it already shell shocked and like,
- 8:47Speaker 3: I can't what just happened?
- 8:49Speaker 2: Where are we? Your cat's shipst has broken?
- 8:54Speaker 1: It has?
- 8:55Speaker 2: Did you have a funny animal story? No?
- 8:57Speaker 1: No, I did.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:59Speaker 5: I had a cat when I was really younger, and
- 9:02Speaker 5: I love this fucking cat. I think when I was
- 9:05Speaker 5: one year old when we had this cat, like grew
- 9:07Speaker 5: up as like a little younger brother. He was the
- 9:09Speaker 5: same age pretty much as my sister. And this cat
- 9:12Speaker 5: followed me everywhere, like to school and shit, like would
- 9:15Speaker 5: walk to my schools follow me there. But all the
- 9:18Speaker 5: time this cat would just like chill with me, and
- 9:21Speaker 5: I can never say the name I wanted for him,
- 9:24Speaker 5: which was Charlie Brown. I was unable to say Charlie Brown.
- 9:28Speaker 1: When I was a kid. I love Charlie Brown.
- 9:30Speaker 5: I love the comic strips, I love the cartoons, the movies.
- 9:33Speaker 5: But when we were younger, growing up, and shit, how
- 9:35Speaker 5: did it come out?
- 9:37Speaker 1: It didn't. So I had this call him CB.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Okay, And then like I asked later on in life,
- 9:42Speaker 5: like why did I call him c B? Because I
- 9:44Speaker 5: know all recollection is of why And my parents were like, oh,
- 9:48Speaker 5: it's because you couldn't say his actual name. And shit,
- 9:50Speaker 5: I'm like that fucking little cute thing. That's a fun story,
- 9:53Speaker 5: but that's not the funny part. This motherfucker would eat
- 9:57Speaker 5: whatever I ate, like, no, chill, you'd sit in the
- 10:00Speaker 5: lit with you.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Oh no, I wanted to.
- 10:02Speaker 5: I fucking fed them ham eggs, turkey like my dad
- 10:06Speaker 5: would do it too.
- 10:07Speaker 1: My dad was one of those people like.
- 10:09Speaker 5: The animal is part of the family, Like if he
- 10:11Speaker 5: had a dog, it was gonna drink with him if
- 10:13Speaker 5: it was old enough, like when dog years obviously you
- 10:15Speaker 5: got to check an idea. But this cat dude, Like
- 10:19Speaker 5: I would lay on the front yard, remember the street
- 10:21Speaker 5: I grew up, and like I'd lay out there on
- 10:23Speaker 5: the grass, he would lay there next to me. We
- 10:25Speaker 5: just eat ham together, like deli ham, like sliced uff.
- 10:28Speaker 5: I'd roll it up, put it in front of his mouth.
- 10:30Speaker 5: He'd be there on his back just like non on it.
- 10:32Speaker 5: And I'd bet my bag nod on mine.
- 10:36Speaker 2: It's funny.
- 10:37Speaker 5: It was just something fun man. I always liked that.
- 10:39Speaker 5: That cat was a fucking trip. And he lived to
- 10:41Speaker 5: be like eighteen years old and twenty five pounds or
- 10:44Speaker 5: some shit.
- 10:45Speaker 1: He looked like a little bulldog.
- 10:46Speaker 5: He'd always get in fights with other cats and dogs
- 10:48Speaker 5: and shit get a broken year.
- 10:50Speaker 1: He would always flap down.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it's funny you would say that, because that's basically
- 10:54Speaker 2: my story. My parents got their first dog, our first dog,
- 10:58Speaker 2: when I was about nine years old. Her name was Molly.
- 11:01Speaker 2: She was a Golden treever slash Airdale, and she had
- 11:05Speaker 2: like perfectly flop ears. They would never stand up like Batman,
- 11:08Speaker 2: no matter how much we wanted to. But what would
- 11:12Speaker 2: be funny is she would lie down and then just
- 11:14Speaker 2: kind of like just slump her head against the pillow
- 11:17Speaker 2: and that would naturally like perk her ear, like push
- 11:20Speaker 2: her ear up, and then like eventually she would wake
- 11:24Speaker 2: up or whatever, and she turned to look at us,
- 11:26Speaker 2: and that ear would be like plastered back, so she
- 11:30Speaker 2: looked like disheveled, like she'd just gotten off one night
- 11:33Speaker 2: stand and was making the she walk home. She just
- 11:37Speaker 2: looked at us kind of bleary eyed, with one ear
- 11:40Speaker 2: perfectly down in the other ear flop up and just
- 11:43Speaker 2: like it was. It was you couldn't miss it because
- 11:47Speaker 2: like the outside of her ear was just brown fur,
- 11:49Speaker 2: the inside was pink skin, so it was like immediately obvious.
- 11:53Speaker 2: And she just sit there look at it. And we'd
- 11:55Speaker 2: go to fix her, like we'd go over and we'd
- 11:57Speaker 2: flop her ear back over. She'd get irritated with her us.
- 12:02Speaker 2: She just starts shaking her head until her ear went
- 12:04Speaker 2: back the way It was really. Yeah, it was like this, okay,
- 12:09Speaker 2: fair enough, you weirdo. But she did it every time,
- 12:14Speaker 2: and that is one of my favorite memories of her
- 12:16Speaker 2: because it was so silly. She looked ridiculous. But anyway,
- 12:22Speaker 2: so yeah, we got a fun episode all about amazing animals.
- 12:27Speaker 2: We're gonna start with our first game, which is called
- 12:30Speaker 2: have I Got Bad News for You? I've got three
- 12:33Speaker 2: news stories here, and all our players have to do
- 12:35Speaker 2: is tell me which one of these is the worst
- 12:38Speaker 2: news of the bunch. That, of course means these are
- 12:40Speaker 2: all pretty much good stories. They need to find the
- 12:44Speaker 2: worst of the best basically, So we're starting off with
- 12:48Speaker 2: story number one, which is study now shows that dogs
- 12:52Speaker 2: can learn words simply by eavesdropping. This is an interesting study.
- 13:01Speaker 2: We've probably I don't know if you guys have had to,
- 13:04Speaker 2: but we definitely had to spell out words every now
- 13:07Speaker 2: and then.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Like the R, E A T.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Because they know they know those were they learned well.
- 13:18Speaker 2: This this study points out that some smarter dogs can
- 13:23Speaker 2: actually learn a brand new word, like the name of
- 13:26Speaker 2: a toy they've only seen once, by just overhearing brief
- 13:30Speaker 2: interactions between two people. So what they did was they
- 13:34Speaker 2: did two tests. They started with an owner and another
- 13:38Speaker 2: person and the dog in the same room, and the
- 13:40Speaker 2: owner would hold a toy that the dog had never
- 13:43Speaker 2: seen before and talk to the other person and say
- 13:46Speaker 2: the name of the toy, like scorpion or whatever, and
- 13:50Speaker 2: then they would uh, they would go into another room
- 13:55Speaker 2: where the toys. There would be a collection of toys
- 13:58Speaker 2: laid out. Uh, And the owner returned to the dog
- 14:01Speaker 2: and say, go fetch the scorpion, and seven out of
- 14:06Speaker 2: ten picked the correct toy. Oh wow, just by just
- 14:11Speaker 2: by watching and listening to that interaction. But it gets better.
- 14:14Speaker 2: They did a second test where the owner showed the
- 14:19Speaker 2: dog the toy but didn't say the name. They then
- 14:22Speaker 2: put the toy away in a box hidden somewhere, and
- 14:27Speaker 2: then just looked at the box while talking to this
- 14:30Speaker 2: second person and sprinkled in that name of that toy
- 14:35Speaker 2: several times. But they weren't They weren't holding the toy anymore,
- 14:38Speaker 2: they were no longer directly referencing it. But the dog
- 14:43Speaker 2: still seven out of ten picked the right toy, Like
- 14:48Speaker 2: they just they just figured out from social cues that
- 14:53Speaker 2: these this word meant this thing. Yeah, and now this
- 14:58Speaker 2: isn't like a common dog ability. This appears to be
- 15:01Speaker 2: only in gifted dogs. But it's interesting because the thing
- 15:06Speaker 2: about the study is that dogs are using social communication.
- 15:09Speaker 2: According to cognitive scientist Shanny Drawer at the University of
- 15:14Speaker 2: Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, So there's you. They're using these
- 15:18Speaker 2: social cues to understand what the owners are talking about. Okay,
- 15:23Speaker 2: And it's good news because this is just another step
- 15:27Speaker 2: on the way to us being able to effectively communicate
- 15:31Speaker 2: with dogs in a more meaningful way.
- 15:34Speaker 5: It's like their next evolutionary step for them, so we
- 15:37Speaker 5: can get to there.
- 15:39Speaker 2: I mean, as dogs evolve, I have no, I have
- 15:43Speaker 2: I have no. There's almost no chance in my brain
- 15:47Speaker 2: that they're not going to eventually be able to understand English. Right.
- 15:53Speaker 2: They may not be able to speak it, like, they
- 15:55Speaker 2: have no evolutionary reason to develop vocal cords that can.
- 15:58Speaker 5: Speak their language, stand which I totally get.
- 16:02Speaker 2: It's fascinating to think that one day you might be
- 16:07Speaker 2: able to give your dog a command such as, hey,
- 16:10Speaker 2: can you run outside, grab me the newspaper, put it
- 16:13Speaker 2: up on the dining room table, and then come sit
- 16:15Speaker 2: and lie next to me while I drink some my coffee,
- 16:17Speaker 2: and the dog will do exactly that. Oh my god,
- 16:20Speaker 2: Like that's in the idea is incredible, but it's it
- 16:24Speaker 2: feels like it's on the way right.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Oh, it's so cool.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Man. Shit, that's speaking of animals, Aggie, are you holding
- 16:33Speaker 2: Merv's head up so it doesn't fall off the chair. Okay,
- 16:36Speaker 2: just checking a snot nerv is hanging out with us,
- 16:41Speaker 2: but he doesn't know how to sleep properly on this chair.
- 16:45Speaker 2: He is constantly putting part of his body off the chair,
- 16:47Speaker 2: which means he's gonna fall possibly or maybe not.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Jesus cat, but we.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Figured in an episode of Amazing Animals, mirv needed to
- 16:56Speaker 2: be included. Yeah, any other thoughts.
- 17:01Speaker 3: Not really, I mean this is yeah, this is something
- 17:04Speaker 3: that's been going on for a while, and you can
- 17:05Speaker 3: kind of if you've again grown up around animals, you
- 17:08Speaker 3: can notice, quite honestly notice that, yeah, they recognize certain words, keywords,
- 17:14Speaker 3: or of sounds, certain cats too, or like when they
- 17:17Speaker 3: call out to you, Like we noticed that our own
- 17:19Speaker 3: cats have different cries based on whose attention they're trying
- 17:23Speaker 3: to get. It's me or Steve, It's yeah, it's it's
- 17:27Speaker 3: a thing.
- 17:27Speaker 4: It's a thing that they're learning.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Definitely had my mind blown by videos of those dogs
- 17:33Speaker 2: who are just so smart that they have like little
- 17:36Speaker 2: buttons that they and they can literally put together complex
- 17:41Speaker 2: sequences of their needs and or wants in that particular moment.
- 17:47Speaker 2: And it's genuinely incredible to see because you're just like
- 17:51Speaker 2: we were getting ever closer to being able to actually
- 17:54Speaker 2: hold a.
- 17:54Speaker 5: Conversation between them and the prime apes and ape and
- 17:58Speaker 5: prime apes the primate pp But.
- 18:02Speaker 2: It's incredible, And I just love dogs. I think they're
- 18:06Speaker 2: just so intelligent, loving. But they're not the only ones.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Let's move on to story number two. Yeah, yeah, story
- 18:11Speaker 2: number two. Japanese railway station hires a cat to be
- 18:14Speaker 2: its station manager or sorry, station master for the third time.
- 18:19Speaker 1: The same cat.
- 18:21Speaker 2: No, not the same cat. Oh, it is the third
- 18:23Speaker 2: cat to whole this.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Position, clearly doing a better job than humans the Japanese.
- 18:29Speaker 2: The Japanese station Kishi Station has long been famous for
- 18:33Speaker 2: its feline station master, Tama, who passed away back in
- 18:37Speaker 2: twenty fifteen, but the legacy is carried on with Kishi
- 18:41Speaker 2: Station welcoming it's third generation station cat this month, Yon Tama,
- 18:47Speaker 2: who was just promoted to the station's top job. According
- 18:52Speaker 2: to the japan News. Kishi station is on the southern
- 18:56Speaker 2: Japanese mainland. Very nearly shuttered in the mid two thousand
- 19:00Speaker 2: because of low ridership, and in two thousand and six
- 19:04Speaker 2: there was only one employee left at the station, Tama,
- 19:07Speaker 2: the calico cat, who was the station master but Tama's
- 19:11Speaker 2: popularity brought Kishi Station back from the brink to the
- 19:15Speaker 2: point that it was entirely demolished and then remodeled in
- 19:18Speaker 2: twenty ten with a design in Tama's image.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Oh cool.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Now Tama passed away in twenty fifteen, she was promoted
- 19:27Speaker 2: once again from station master to local shinto god. Hell yes. However,
- 19:34Speaker 2: her successor, Nie Tama, which is I believe Japanese for
- 19:38Speaker 2: Tama four, was officially inaugurated as her successor. If you're
- 19:44Speaker 2: wondering about Tama three, she went to another station for
- 19:47Speaker 2: training and the station loved her so much they refused
- 19:48Speaker 2: to give her back.
- 19:49Speaker 8: Oh wow, really yeah, so Ni Tama took over, and
- 19:56Speaker 8: now Yon Tama is the newest the newest station master
- 20:01Speaker 8: at or sorry Kishi Station.
- 20:06Speaker 2: That's freaking they're basically mascots. Obviously they don't really do
- 20:11Speaker 2: any work.
- 20:13Speaker 1: And stuff give the past, but they very.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Clearly have brought the station notoriety and attention when badly
- 20:21Speaker 2: needed it.
- 20:22Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Yeah, and so I kind of understand them elevating this
- 20:27Speaker 2: the cat to a god because it literally saved the station. Yeah.
- 20:32Speaker 1: That's smart. Cool, go go cat. I got nothing on
- 20:37Speaker 1: that was that.
- 20:39Speaker 2: It's harder to comment on good s.
- 20:42Speaker 4: Mean, I mean, the Egyptians have been doing it forever.
- 20:46Speaker 1: They were right there at one flaw, was it, oh yeah?
- 20:51Speaker 1: Or they took control of all the people.
- 20:54Speaker 2: The cat.
- 20:55Speaker 5: No, No, I wish, I wish the cat should take
- 20:58Speaker 5: control of all the people.
- 21:00Speaker 1: He's so much nicer.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Next one, Yeah, next one. And I have a feeling
- 21:06Speaker 2: you're really gonna love this one. Our third story, rats
- 21:12Speaker 2: have been successfully trained to shoot demons in doom What.
- 21:18Speaker 2: In twenty twenty, a Hungarian software engineer named Victor Toff
- 21:23Speaker 2: came up with a fascinating experiment. He created a bootstrap
- 21:27Speaker 2: experimental setup consisting of a large polystyrene ball, a curved
- 21:32Speaker 2: computer monitor, and a small straw that dispenses sugar water,
- 21:37Speaker 2: and Tof managed to teach a rat how to play
- 21:40Speaker 2: the classic nineteen ninety four video game Doomed Too.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Oh my God.
- 21:45Speaker 2: The rats movements translated into rotations of the ball, which
- 21:49Speaker 2: were translated into movement inside the game. The sugar water
- 21:53Speaker 2: served as a treat whenever the rat competed completed a
- 21:55Speaker 2: milestone like walking down a corridor. It has been half
- 22:00Speaker 2: a decade later, and toss setup has received a major upgrade,
- 22:04Speaker 2: giving the rats an entirely new found level of immersion.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Oh God. That's in large part thanks to a small
- 22:11Speaker 2: photable ammaled screen that stretches across one hundred and eighty
- 22:14Speaker 2: degrees of the rats vision and a bunch of custom
- 22:17Speaker 2: three D printed parts sh little VR the project. The
- 22:23Speaker 2: project has a website, Rats Playdoom dot com, oh my god,
- 22:27Speaker 2: and it shows a black and white rat cowering on
- 22:30Speaker 2: the ball while staring at VR goggles like screen wrapped
- 22:33Speaker 2: around its head that maximizes immersion without obstructing whisker space.
- 22:39Speaker 2: And it now allows the rats to shoot at demons
- 22:42Speaker 2: in the game thanks to a custom built hand operated lever,
- 22:46Speaker 2: which the rodents can pull with their paws to fire.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 22:54Speaker 2: After this upgrade, the rats successfully learn to navigate the
- 22:58Speaker 2: game and trigger the shooting mechan and it took approximately
- 23:01Speaker 2: two weeks per rat. Two weeks.
- 23:05Speaker 1: It's it's weeks of training, man, just to get them
- 23:08Speaker 1: to that's crazy.
- 23:09Speaker 2: To simulate the rat plowing into walls inside the video game,
- 23:13Speaker 2: the team even installed two small air nozzles to deliver
- 23:17Speaker 2: targeted air puffs on demand. Why are they doing all this?
- 23:24Speaker 3: Because it's awesome, Because what's what's funnier than having rats
- 23:31Speaker 3: pilot little fucking mechs.
- 23:33Speaker 1: That's that I'm waiting for.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Fight.
- 23:35Speaker 5: But like, seriously, if this is what we're using rats
- 23:37Speaker 5: to test science with, now I'm okay with it, opposed
- 23:40Speaker 5: to like, let's inject him with this, let's.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Grow an ear on this one. It's like they're playing Doom.
- 23:46Speaker 5: Fuck yes, Like, if I'm gonna die or get experimented on,
- 23:50Speaker 5: I want to do it while I'm playing video games
- 23:52Speaker 5: or something adult.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Well, this isn't an advanced computer brain interface experiment. The
- 24:00Speaker 2: b c I about scanning the rats brain waves to
- 24:05Speaker 2: the guy who did the experiment was just like why not?
- 24:09Speaker 2: But he he argues that the experiment is relevant to BCIs,
- 24:13Speaker 2: which is a space that he's planning and getting into
- 24:15Speaker 2: in the long run. But he chose Doom because the
- 24:17Speaker 2: game is very easy to edit map that he could
- 24:20Speaker 2: modify for the rats to take on. For now, the
- 24:23Speaker 2: rats still have a lot of learning to do before
- 24:25Speaker 2: they can take on the game's actual single player campaign,
- 24:29Speaker 2: but the day is coming.
- 24:32Speaker 3: Oh God, yes, God, that a rat.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Will be trained and able to beat Doom.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Shit might take a few weeks.
- 24:42Speaker 5: But hey, I want to change what I want to
- 24:44Speaker 5: turn into when I get reincarnated.
- 24:48Speaker 1: I want to be that.
- 24:50Speaker 2: I want to be the rat that gets to play.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Doom yep, I want to be the famous rat.
- 24:58Speaker 3: Run Doom for the first time.
- 25:00Speaker 2: That's all three of our news stories. Once again, they
- 25:01Speaker 2: are studies shows dogs can learn words simply about eavesdropping Japanese,
- 25:06Speaker 2: where railway station hires a cat to be a station
- 25:08Speaker 2: manager for the third time. And finally rats successfully trained
- 25:12Speaker 2: to shoot the demons in Doom. Oggie, you have lost
- 25:15Speaker 2: the last two episodes running, so I'm going to give
- 25:18Speaker 2: you the opportunity to choose first, which one of these
- 25:22Speaker 2: did I pick to be the worst news story of
- 25:25Speaker 2: the week.
- 25:26Speaker 3: Funny enough, I honestly think of all of them, it
- 25:30Speaker 3: would probably be the Doom one as being the worst
- 25:34Speaker 3: of the best, simply because, yeah, it's nothing crazy, but
- 25:40Speaker 3: it's still animal testing and it's still kind of a
- 25:44Speaker 3: gray area for a lot of people.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I can see that.
- 25:48Speaker 2: I can understand it. That's fair.
- 25:50Speaker 5: I mean, I'm sure he's given him breaks, not like
- 25:51Speaker 5: twenty four hours play Doom.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Yeah, like everybody else.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Yeah, Stevie, what about you choose one or two. Can't
- 26:00Speaker 2: pick the same.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Story, I can pick both of them.
- 26:07Speaker 5: I was thinking about going for the dog Spies, but
- 26:09Speaker 5: then after thinking about new movie brought by Stephen, I'm
- 26:14Speaker 5: gonna probably go with the Cat Masters. I have a
- 26:18Speaker 5: feeling because it's like, yeah, we've all seen those stories
- 26:21Speaker 5: before where cats have been mayors and town drunks or whatever.
- 26:25Speaker 5: Requires I can't ruffs and ship, So I mean it's
- 26:29Speaker 5: a good story to story drugs.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Starting a new town.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Guys just saying my cat's the drug. Yeah, all right, well,
- 26:42Speaker 2: in that case we have a definitive winner.
- 26:44Speaker 1: One of you definitely got my fucking god, damn it
- 26:47Speaker 1: all the.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Worst news story of the week. However, you guys missed
- 26:50Speaker 2: my second worst. The dog's learning words simply bases honestly,
- 26:56Speaker 2: like that was the that is the second coolest story. Yeah, however,
- 27:00Speaker 2: the worst story, the least coolest story was the Japanese
- 27:04Speaker 2: railway station.
- 27:05Speaker 9: So Stevie takes that point. I'll be honest, my, my, my,
- 27:12Speaker 9: My excitement about rats getting to play doom overwhelmed my
- 27:17Speaker 9: ability to think about maybe they're they're being tested.
- 27:22Speaker 2: He's taking I.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Assume like at this point there's so many standards in place.
- 27:27Speaker 3: I assume the rats.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Are the way he talks, the way he talks about them.
- 27:30Speaker 2: I feel like he does have genuine like care and
- 27:33Speaker 2: affection for these rats, So I don't think he's harming
- 27:36Speaker 2: them in any way, because harming them wouldn't help no aar.
- 27:42Speaker 2: But but the thought, the thought didn't occur to me.
- 27:46Speaker 2: To me, to me, it was just the coolest story
- 27:47Speaker 2: of the three and the second coolest, obviously, because I'm
- 27:52Speaker 2: such a dog lover, was that someday we might be
- 27:54Speaker 2: able to talk to our dogs because they're smarter than
- 27:57Speaker 2: me think. And the cat being hired to be a
- 28:00Speaker 2: station master for the third time is a really cute story,
- 28:03Speaker 2: but it's not my favorite. So that's the way I ruled.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Stevie gets the first point of this episode. Augie starts
- 28:10Speaker 2: this third episode on the back foot. God damn it.
- 28:13Speaker 1: That's a strong one to spring back on.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you never know. Game two is gonna be
- 28:18Speaker 2: worth two points, and we're gonna play that game right
- 28:21Speaker 2: after this mail bag mail bag getting them letters and
- 28:38Speaker 2: welcome to the mail bag. We're getting them letters although
- 28:43Speaker 2: we only have one letter.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Technically getting that letter.
- 28:46Speaker 2: We have a we have a comment on Patrio getting
- 28:52Speaker 2: that letter, the one which one is Stevie. What's what's
- 28:56Speaker 2: the letter we got?
- 28:57Speaker 5: We got?
- 28:58Speaker 1: We got a letter on Patrick. Yeah, it's from show
- 29:01Speaker 1: number three zero two.
- 29:02Speaker 5: We're back baby, It's just the one we just had.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Yeah, two episodes.
- 29:09Speaker 4: I see, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 29:11Speaker 5: And our comment comes from Bill m actually, and he
- 29:14Speaker 5: said it took me a while to think of one,
- 29:17Speaker 5: and then it just clicked that Heroes of Might and
- 29:20Speaker 5: Magic Flour was just something me and my friends would
- 29:23Speaker 5: play for hours on Custom Matt.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, I need to actually get into those games, Like.
- 29:29Speaker 5: I hear my Magic Might Magic Heroes.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Of My Magic two and three were the really big ones,
- 29:36Speaker 2: but hearing that Flour was also good is like Jesus,
- 29:40Speaker 2: these were very, very big in a time when I
- 29:43Speaker 2: was more interested in like first person like detective fiction
- 29:47Speaker 2: stuff and like strategy stuff was never really my bag,
- 29:51Speaker 2: but now it kind of is, And like I should
- 29:53Speaker 2: really go back and try it and check all these
- 29:56Speaker 2: damn games out there, all on gog and I think
- 29:58Speaker 2: I own most of them.
- 30:00Speaker 1: And he said him and his friends would play.
- 30:02Speaker 5: Is there Forrest is a multiplayer at all? Or just
- 30:04Speaker 5: like it sounds like it is.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Oh, that'd be kind of neat, like, oh, okay, ship,
- 30:12Speaker 1: that would.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Be I mean I wanted to do what was it
- 30:16Speaker 2: age Vampires with you guys. Can you guys seem to
- 30:18Speaker 2: really enjoy that and I never got to play with
- 30:20Speaker 2: you and I SUCKRV has joined us, apparently.
- 30:30Speaker 5: Trying to go outside to pot Okay, buddy, Oh that
- 30:37Speaker 5: was just wanted to say goodbye.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Here's his but.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Thanks mill.
- 30:44Speaker 5: Hell yeah, I'd be down to check that ship out.
- 30:47Speaker 5: I'm into a bunch of just random gaming ship right now.
- 30:50Speaker 5: I'm into everything indie games, fucking Triple A titles. I'm
- 30:53Speaker 5: bouncing all over the places having fun.
- 30:56Speaker 2: That's fair.
- 30:57Speaker 5: I know that fucking space game that we've been playing,
- 31:00Speaker 5: Holy balls, dude, we're gonna get it for Cyber so
- 31:02Speaker 5: we'd have a full team.
- 31:04Speaker 1: So I think that'd be fun to say, Hell yeah, man,
- 31:06Speaker 1: because we want to play.
- 31:07Speaker 5: We've been talking about it all week and we don't
- 31:08Speaker 5: want to play without you, so we've been waiting.
- 31:11Speaker 1: So it's like we play it in play tonight.
- 31:15Speaker 2: I've been playing solo on my own.
- 31:17Speaker 3: That's crazy because I tried playing so long.
- 31:19Speaker 1: How do you do it?
- 31:21Speaker 2: I keep it too easy at most, Like I don't,
- 31:25Speaker 2: I don't go to the third difficulty at all, and
- 31:29Speaker 2: I and I also just I've been flying the the
- 31:32Speaker 2: second ship, the df.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Dart, the Fast Faster is a.
- 31:37Speaker 2: It is a. It is a space combat fucking machine.
- 31:41Speaker 2: That ship shreds in space combat. It is so strong. However, however,
- 31:47Speaker 2: it has like only two shield generators. Oh so you
- 31:52Speaker 2: gotta you gotta be on top of that. There. The
- 31:55Speaker 2: trade off is that you're so fast that it's easy
- 31:57Speaker 2: to dodge things like missiles and even shots from enemies.
- 32:01Speaker 2: If you're quick, that's kind of cool. So yeah, you
- 32:03Speaker 2: can just like fly around. It isn't great if you
- 32:07Speaker 2: enjoy like space combat, like you know, X and stuff
- 32:10Speaker 2: like that, Like that is your ship. That thing just is.
- 32:14Speaker 3: Saying is when we play again, I have to change
- 32:16Speaker 3: my ship over them.
- 32:17Speaker 2: No you don't. There there are things to the Freight
- 32:20Speaker 2: that I appreciate, like the AMMO regeneration station, which the
- 32:24Speaker 2: Fighter does not have. It does It doesn't have a
- 32:28Speaker 2: lot of bells and whistles. The space inside is very limited.
- 32:30Speaker 2: It is a small by some measure. Yes, so so
- 32:35Speaker 2: if we're having a four player team, I would probably
- 32:37Speaker 2: go with something like that, if I were doing two
- 32:39Speaker 2: or less, I might Okay, that's fair.
- 32:42Speaker 1: So what you're saying is we should play tonight.
- 32:45Speaker 2: Yeah, we should.
- 32:46Speaker 5: Stream play all I'm in dude on three day weekend. Bitch,
- 32:49Speaker 5: I'm ready. Let's play some hard games.
- 32:51Speaker 2: What the well, let's get out.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Let's get out of these games. We can play the
- 32:54Speaker 1: other games and we can come back to other games.
- 32:56Speaker 2: You've been enjoying the mail bag, We need to get
- 32:58Speaker 2: out here. Thanks so much, William for the appreciate it.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Anyone else who wants to be a part of our

- 33:47Speaker 10: viral social media post, and so much more.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Hey man, welcome back. It's time for game two. We're
- 34:03Speaker 2: gonna play uh pitch me Baby one more time? Yes,
- 34:07Speaker 2: oh boy, one of our favorite games for Game two
- 34:11Speaker 2: inspired by game one. Oh and I forgot to mention.
- 34:14Speaker 2: I completely forgot to mention. William m submitted the story
- 34:18Speaker 2: about the Rats learning to play Doom. Oh really, he
- 34:21Speaker 2: sent that story to me. I didn't even know it
- 34:22Speaker 2: was the thing and he sent it to me, and
- 34:24Speaker 2: I was like, did you tell Stevie and Augie? He
- 34:26Speaker 2: was like no. I was like, don't saving this. I
- 34:32Speaker 2: am saving this for a super cool episode.
- 34:34Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's amazing though.
- 34:36Speaker 2: I love that. I'm gonna look it up.
- 34:38Speaker 1: I wrote it down.
- 34:38Speaker 2: Thank you William Man for bringing that to my attention.
- 34:40Speaker 2: One percent.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, more Doom stuff.
- 34:43Speaker 2: I'm in. I appreciate it. And it inspired this entire episode,
- 34:46Speaker 2: so thank you to yeah as well. All right, pitch
- 34:49Speaker 2: me Baby more time is inspired by that as well,
- 34:52Speaker 2: inspired by Game one, and by films like Milo and
- 34:55Speaker 2: Otis and Airbud, and of course the state of America,
- 34:59Speaker 2: which is inducing daily despair. I want you to pitch
- 35:04Speaker 2: me a feel good story, please, about an animal doing
- 35:07Speaker 2: something amazing. This can be a book, a TV show,
- 35:10Speaker 2: a movie, or a video game. The only limitation is
- 35:13Speaker 2: that it can't have been done before, so you're not
- 35:16Speaker 2: allowed to do Airbud too. But if you want a
- 35:19Speaker 2: dog playing hockey, ice Bud is on the table ice. Weirdly,
- 35:24Speaker 2: the people who did Airbud did do a nice hockey movie.
- 35:26Speaker 2: But they did it called MVP Most Valuable Primate and
- 35:31Speaker 2: it's about a chimp who plays hockey.
- 35:34Speaker 1: They had such a good thing going, such a good thing, dummies.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Anyway, best pitch wins the game and it gets two
- 35:41Speaker 2: episode points. Now, Aggie, you lost the last game, so
- 35:43Speaker 2: you get the choice. Do you want to pitch first
- 35:45Speaker 2: or do you want to make Stevie pitch first.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Okay, mine's a little long winded, so I'm going to
- 35:49Speaker 3: go second. I'll let Stevie go first.
- 35:51Speaker 2: Okay, Stevie Fair, you're a first pitch me a feel
- 35:56Speaker 2: good story about an animal doing something amazing.
- 35:58Speaker 5: All right, we can't do airbl so and I didn't
- 36:01Speaker 5: do the hockey thing. So I went with a dog
- 36:03Speaker 5: gardener called roast Bud.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Holy ship, that's brilliant. Should use that? Oh my god,
- 36:16Speaker 2: you should have just gone with that. That's genius.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Okay, that's what I went with. I'm done.
- 36:23Speaker 2: Rose by you.
- 36:24Speaker 3: As I knew, I wasn't gonna have a chance.
- 36:29Speaker 2: But damn, dude's all.
- 36:32Speaker 5: Right, Now for the one that's supposed to count because
- 36:34Speaker 5: I don't care. Now, that was a good joke. Here's
- 36:37Speaker 5: the one actually puts some effort into What do you got?
- 36:40Speaker 2: All right?
- 36:41Speaker 1: This is gonna be an animated version.
- 36:42Speaker 5: So this animated movie takes place in the Indian Ocean,
- 36:47Speaker 5: the island of Marusius.
- 36:51Speaker 1: Yeah that Marusius, the last yeah, you know, the last.
- 36:57Speaker 5: Yeh of the now extinct species of the Dodo of
- 37:01Speaker 5: the Mutians or was it that last sighting? This movie
- 37:09Speaker 5: takes place in current time, following a Dodo named Dingo
- 37:14Speaker 5: whom was flash frozen hundreds of years ago. But dude,
- 37:19Speaker 5: to dumb humans and global warming. Dingo to Dodo's icy
- 37:24Speaker 5: coffin unwedged from the bottom of the ocean. He floats
- 37:28Speaker 5: to the surface and drifts to the island like a vampire.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Let me stop you for a moment.
- 37:35Speaker 5: There are you, because it has come to my attention
- 37:38Speaker 5: to not everyone in the room may know the history
- 37:41Speaker 5: of Marusia as Aaron.
- 37:42Speaker 1: And I do.
- 37:44Speaker 2: The reason Yeah, I got a couple of experts here.
- 37:49Speaker 2: I've been dragged into this.
- 37:53Speaker 5: The reason that Dodo actually went extinct is because of
- 37:56Speaker 5: the addicting delicacy that is made of them. The Marusians
- 38:02Speaker 5: had a delectable Dodo dissent. It's a bloodline that a
- 38:08Speaker 5: bloodline flaw that the Maruitians carry, making them crave the Dodo.
- 38:14Speaker 5: So the movie Don't Eat Me It is the name.
- 38:17Speaker 10: Of the.
- 38:20Speaker 3: Don't Do.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Starring Danny DeVito as Dingo.
- 38:31Speaker 5: And then a couple of the islanders that are chasing
- 38:34Speaker 5: him around Are Home Alone stars Daniel Stern and Joe
- 38:37Speaker 5: Petcy as There's the antagonist special love interest guest star
- 38:46Speaker 5: Rhea Pearlman. Spoilers, Dingo finds his lost frozen love.
- 38:51Speaker 1: At the end of the movie, so she's on the inn.
- 38:54Speaker 5: It for the last like two and a half minutes,
- 38:56Speaker 5: but the last two and a half minutes make the
- 38:58Speaker 5: whole ending.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Oh fucking hell yea, god damn it. I'm so mad
- 39:16Speaker 2: at you. I can't help you.
- 39:23Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 39:24Speaker 2: You must have a feel good animal story.
- 39:27Speaker 3: I do. And here's the problem. It's it's I've I've
- 39:30Speaker 3: come to realize this. This is a feel good story
- 39:32Speaker 3: pitch and more of a I'm just going to tell
- 39:34Speaker 3: you this story and it would make an amazing movie.
- 39:38Speaker 1: So let's still a pitch.
- 39:39Speaker 2: It's still a pitch.
- 39:40Speaker 3: So so to preface this, this is a live action
- 39:44Speaker 3: movie that I'm I'm pitching. Just so you know, I
- 39:48Speaker 3: apologize to anyone out there if I mispronounced anything. I'm sorry.
- 39:52Speaker 3: I don't speak every language. I barely speak English like Mauritius.
- 40:00Speaker 3: But we all know about different types of animals out
- 40:04Speaker 3: there who've done some pretty interesting things, especially in the military. Famously,
- 40:08Speaker 3: people know about Corporal Wojak the Bear, who served in
- 40:11Speaker 3: the Polish Landforces who carried artiller shells. Some people know
- 40:15Speaker 3: about share Ami, the carrier Pigeon Infantry Regiment are better
- 40:20Speaker 3: known as the hero of the Lost Battalion.
- 40:22Speaker 2: Yeah Yeah, yeah, incredible story.
- 40:25Speaker 3: But today I want to pitch us doing a live
- 40:29Speaker 3: action movie of the one oh second Infantry Regiment twenty
- 40:33Speaker 3: six Yankee Division Chargeant Stubby. So, in July of nineteen seventeen,
- 40:42Speaker 3: on the grounds of Yale University Campus in New Haven, Connecticut.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Is this a real story? Yeah, Okay, go ahead.
- 40:49Speaker 3: Members of the US Army's one oh second Infantry Regiment
- 40:52Speaker 3: were undergoing training. One day, a random stray Boston bull
- 40:59Speaker 3: terrier team mix no one really quite knows what, just
- 41:04Speaker 3: wandered out onto the field while they were in training
- 41:07Speaker 3: and just watched them. And it did this frequently their
- 41:11Speaker 3: sun rain. The soldiers loved it. It basically became like
- 41:17Speaker 3: a mascot to him. One soldier in particular, a corporal
- 41:21Speaker 3: James Robert Conroy, loved that dog, like absolutely loved him.
- 41:27Speaker 3: So when the day came when their regiment had to
- 41:30Speaker 3: get shipped out to France because this was during World
- 41:32Speaker 3: War One, mind you, he didn't want to leave the
- 41:37Speaker 3: dog behind. So he devised a plan to bring the
- 41:41Speaker 3: dog with him, and so he stuck him aboard their
- 41:44Speaker 3: transport ship, hiding him in his overcoat. Now I don't
- 41:50Speaker 3: know how this man managed to keep this dog under.
- 41:53Speaker 4: Wraps to a vessel full of other soldiers and sailors
- 41:58Speaker 4: for whoever knows how long, because they sailed across the
- 42:02Speaker 4: Atlantic to France, so.
- 42:04Speaker 3: It had to have been a little bit of time. Yeah,
- 42:08Speaker 3: And for some reason he got away with it up
- 42:11Speaker 3: until about the end when he thought he was just
- 42:14Speaker 3: about home free. He was about to like gland fall
- 42:17Speaker 3: into France, and then he gets stopped by his commanding officer.
- 42:21Speaker 3: And when he got caught, upon discovery of Conroy's commanding officer,
- 42:29Speaker 3: Stubby and I'm not making this up, got on his
- 42:33Speaker 3: hind legs and saluted him as he had been trained
- 42:37Speaker 3: to do in camp. Saluted unprompted the commander. Allegedly the
- 42:49Speaker 3: CEO allowed him to stay. Yes, and it doesn't end there,
- 42:53Speaker 3: because that's just him getting to France. Stubby then served
- 42:59Speaker 3: for the next eighteen months, serving across four offensives, participating
- 43:07Speaker 3: in over seventeen battles. Wa what the fuck. He entered
- 43:12Speaker 3: combat on the fifth of February nineteen eighteen at Showmada Dame,
- 43:18Speaker 3: where his regiment was under constant shelling day and night.
- 43:24Speaker 3: In April during a raid on such a prey, he
- 43:30Speaker 3: unfortunately got wounded in his fore legs by retreating Germans
- 43:35Speaker 3: throwing grenades. He was brought to the rear for recovery,
- 43:40Speaker 3: where he did in fact recover, and he also improved
- 43:42Speaker 3: the rale of other soldiers who were also recovering in
- 43:45Speaker 3: the rear. I believe it, And then yeah, and then
- 43:49Speaker 3: he before you know it, he was back in the
- 43:51Speaker 3: trenches with his regiment once more. It was the only
- 43:55Speaker 3: It wasn't the only time he suffered injuries, however, throughout
- 43:57Speaker 3: his entire campaign. Within the first year of battle, he
- 44:01Speaker 3: got exposed to mustard gas, one of the most horrific
- 44:05Speaker 3: tools of war used in that war.
- 44:08Speaker 2: But this super.
- 44:10Speaker 4: Powerful dog.
- 44:13Speaker 3: No problem. He recovered from it, but he didn't come
- 44:15Speaker 3: back unprepared. Someone back there decided to make him a special.
- 44:21Speaker 2: Gas mask discuss for.
- 44:22Speaker 3: Him that he could then have slipped onto him to
- 44:27Speaker 3: survive future mustard gas. And he did, and he did
- 44:31Speaker 3: his duty. With that gas mask on, he was able
- 44:34Speaker 3: to warn when incoming gas tasks would come in because
- 44:38Speaker 3: he recognized the scent. He was able to search for
- 44:42Speaker 3: lost and injured soldiers in no man's land and bring
- 44:45Speaker 3: them safely back to the trenches. He also had incredible hearing,
- 44:50Speaker 3: so he's able to hear the whistles of artillery fire
- 44:53Speaker 3: long before they make impact, allowing plenty of time for
- 44:56Speaker 3: soldiers to get to cover. Wow, he has saved countless
- 45:00Speaker 3: soldiers' lives and it doesn't end there. When his regiment
- 45:04Speaker 3: was stationed in the Argonne, they had some some they
- 45:10Speaker 3: were doing something there, either they had reinforcements come in
- 45:13Speaker 3: or some supply go through or whatever, and you know,
- 45:15Speaker 3: everybody greeting each other because it's a rough roar, so
- 45:18Speaker 3: they're beating each other greatly.
- 45:21Speaker 2: But Dubbs had one Stubby had.
- 45:24Speaker 3: One issue with one particular person didn't like him, would
- 45:29Speaker 3: stalk him, and eventually grabbed him by his belt and
- 45:32Speaker 3: pinned him. Turns out the men was a German spy.
- 45:36Speaker 4: Holy shit, and at the time Private.
- 45:41Speaker 3: Stubby was then nominated for a field promotion to Sergeant
- 45:45Speaker 3: Stubby for being solely responsible for capturing a German spy
- 45:51Speaker 3: in the Argonne.
- 45:53Speaker 1: Wow, what the fuck? I want to watch this movie.
- 45:57Speaker 3: After his nomination, he went on to do a lot
- 46:00Speaker 3: more other things, including after the liberation of Chateau Theory,
- 46:04Speaker 3: the local women had made him a che chamo or
- 46:07Speaker 3: a sash for him to wear his medals and pints
- 46:12Speaker 3: and was even more fucked up. This dog went on
- 46:14Speaker 3: to get hit by two mre grenades and still walked
- 46:17Speaker 3: out of World War One. He had both him, both
- 46:21Speaker 3: Sargeantuby and Corporal Conway return home in nineteen eighteen, where
- 46:25Speaker 3: he met President Wilson Coolidge and Harding. And you know
- 46:28Speaker 3: what the awards he was given. He was getting a
- 46:30Speaker 3: gold medal by the Humane Education Society, He was given
- 46:34Speaker 3: a wound strip, and he was given not zero, not one,
- 46:38Speaker 3: but two purple hearts. Holy fuck for a service in
- 46:44Speaker 3: the US art.
- 46:45Speaker 2: So why isn't this a movie?
- 46:47Speaker 1: Finding it?
- 46:48Speaker 3: And hold on got a happy ending, right, because it's
- 46:51Speaker 3: gotta be a happy ending. He would retire and become
- 46:53Speaker 3: Georgetown Haya's team mascot, while Conroy would join the Bureau
- 46:58Speaker 3: of Investigation later known as the FBI. WOW posthumorously, he
- 47:03Speaker 3: was featured, honored, and commemorated, but he did pass peacefully
- 47:08Speaker 3: in his sleep March nineteen twenty six, at age ten,
- 47:11Speaker 3: which is an average age for a terrier.
- 47:13Speaker 2: Oh my god. Okay.
- 47:16Speaker 3: His remains were donated to the Smithsonian, where he resides
- 47:21Speaker 3: next to Share a me the Carrier pigeon who helped
- 47:25Speaker 3: the seventy seven incredible?
- 47:27Speaker 2: Right, incredible? How is that not a movie already?
- 47:30Speaker 1: It should be.
- 47:32Speaker 3: So here's the thing, here's the thing, here's the thing.
- 47:33Speaker 2: Anyone's no.
- 47:34Speaker 3: No, I will even that. I will argue though there
- 47:38Speaker 3: is already a movie. It was released in twenty eighteen,
- 47:42Speaker 3: but it was an animation and I and though it
- 47:46Speaker 3: was well received by all organizations who've seen it, I
- 47:50Speaker 3: doubt anyone actually has. Yeah, it's not been released as no,
- 47:55Speaker 3: because it was animation, so people think kids. But and
- 47:58Speaker 3: it's true that the dog did his story did go
- 48:01Speaker 3: on to inspire kids and teach them about the wars
- 48:05Speaker 3: and stuff like that and what they did in there.
- 48:07Speaker 2: I've never heard of this, no, but it but it
- 48:10Speaker 2: does exist.
- 48:11Speaker 3: But I think what the problem was is because it
- 48:13Speaker 3: was animation, it didn't it didn't set well. If it
- 48:16Speaker 3: was live action, people would be more interested in it,
- 48:19Speaker 3: they'd be more connected.
- 48:20Speaker 2: I've heard of animated movies. Okay, I knew.
- 48:22Speaker 1: Frozen back then. That is what I'm saying.
- 48:24Speaker 2: Well, what time was it twenty eighteen?
- 48:26Speaker 1: Oh Jesus, the way.
- 48:28Speaker 2: You were you thinking? Nineteen seventies no, yeah, Like, I
- 48:36Speaker 2: don't feel like this was released like as an actual
- 48:40Speaker 2: mainstream movie, so I'm going to allow it. And it's
- 48:43Speaker 2: it's definitely the winner of nobody else to hear that. Ye, like,
- 48:47Speaker 2: that is an incredible story, which I have. I believe
- 48:50Speaker 2: I have read that story before, but I'd forgotten about
- 48:53Speaker 2: it until he brought it up.
- 48:54Speaker 3: Just there's a lot of paraphrasing there. But he was
- 48:57Speaker 3: Sergeant Stubby of the one oh second Infantry Regiment, Yankee Division.
- 49:02Speaker 2: It's an incredible story. Like, that's an incredible story. It
- 49:05Speaker 2: would be a phenomenal movie.
- 49:07Speaker 1: It really would be the.
- 49:07Speaker 2: Fact that it hasn't been made is honestly kind of
- 49:13Speaker 2: hearts yeah, kind of mind blow because he survived, Like.
- 49:17Speaker 3: And there are so many other animals out there who
- 49:19Speaker 3: who've done this. He's not even the most famous. There
- 49:23Speaker 3: is a There is dogs out there who hit chief
- 49:26Speaker 3: petty officer in the Navy, Jesus Chris. There are animals
- 49:31Speaker 3: out there who put their life on the line like
- 49:33Speaker 3: any other soldier. It's it's insane.
- 49:36Speaker 2: I'm putting two points on the line for you. AI.
- 49:38Speaker 2: Well done, Oh yeah that is yours? Yeah, no, great pick,
- 49:45Speaker 2: well written, well thought through, like everything about that pitch
- 49:49Speaker 2: was fantastic. Yeah, and that absolutely deserves to be a
- 49:53Speaker 2: mainstream live action or animated movie either one. But that's
- 49:58Speaker 2: gonna be two points to augue, which which means it
- 50:01Speaker 2: is two to one. Stevie's technically behind. But our third
- 50:05Speaker 2: and final game is worth three points, and that game
- 50:08Speaker 2: will decide it, and we're going to play that game
- 50:10Speaker 2: right after this. Hey man, welcome back. It's time for
- 51:10Speaker 2: game three. Game three is gonna be one we haven't
- 51:12Speaker 2: played in a while. It's time for just correlate, correlate.
- 51:19Speaker 2: Our favorite game of finding hidden connections is back. Our
- 51:22Speaker 2: players will choose keyboard keys, control, alt, delete, insert, home,
- 51:27Speaker 2: and end, and behind each one is a set of
- 51:30Speaker 2: four clues. Each one has something in common. If you
- 51:34Speaker 2: figure it out after one clue, you get five points.
- 51:37Speaker 2: After two clues, three points after three, two points, but
- 51:40Speaker 2: if you need all four you can still get one point.
- 51:43Speaker 2: If you fail to get it, your opponent will have
- 51:45Speaker 2: a chance to steal, but they only get one point,
- 51:48Speaker 2: and they will be given all four clues automatically. So
- 51:50Speaker 2: if you don't go to four, they get all four, okay,
- 51:53Speaker 2: but they can only get one point for stealing.
- 51:55Speaker 1: Okay, cool.
- 51:56Speaker 2: The player with the most points after all six keys
- 51:59Speaker 2: have been chosen and wins the game and gets three
- 52:01Speaker 2: episode points. Now, Stevie, you are behind, Yes, so you
- 52:05Speaker 2: will get the first pick. Which of these six keyboard
- 52:08Speaker 2: keys would you like to start with?
- 52:10Speaker 1: Control? Because I'd like to control this game soon control.
- 52:13Speaker 2: It is all right, So I'm going to read you
- 52:15Speaker 2: the first clue for five points, and then I'll tell
- 52:18Speaker 2: Aggie to start the timer.
- 52:19Speaker 1: It sounds good, sounds good, alright, ready, oh yeah, I
- 52:23Speaker 1: am ready.
- 52:24Speaker 2: Okay, Stevie for five points. Canada. Next clue please for
- 52:33Speaker 2: three points.
- 52:35Speaker 7: Wick next close, please for two points. Jordan, next one
- 52:54Speaker 7: for one point.
- 52:56Speaker 1: Bud, Steve buzzing.
- 53:02Speaker 2: I can see you. Damn yeah, okay, you've buzzed in.
- 53:04Speaker 2: You can stop the timer. What do you think it is? Air?
- 53:09Speaker 2: I'll give that to you. Yeah. They all go after
- 53:12Speaker 2: air them Air, Jordan and air. But that is one
- 53:19Speaker 2: point to Steve. Wick threw me off.
- 53:21Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, I'm like something about a dog.
- 53:25Speaker 1: I totally forgot this is animal related.
- 53:27Speaker 2: Well, they just to be fair, not all of these
- 53:30Speaker 2: are will be That really wasn't. But yeah, it just
- 53:34Speaker 2: had an air button there. That's yeah, okay OUI you're
- 53:39Speaker 2: down by one point, but you have an alt delete,
- 53:42Speaker 2: insert home or end. I want to go home, home,
- 53:46Speaker 2: all right, when you're ready for five points. Lynette, Deona
- 53:52Speaker 2: and Carrara from Genshen Impact next for three points, Mio
- 54:00Speaker 2: and Nia from Xena Blade Chronicles. Next for two points,
- 54:08Speaker 2: Felicia from Darkstalkers, Oh God, for one point your Ouichi,
- 54:17Speaker 2: she Joyin from Bleach, Augie Augy buzzes in. You can
- 54:29Speaker 2: stop the timer for one point. What do you think
- 54:38Speaker 2: it is?
- 54:38Speaker 3: Oh?
- 54:39Speaker 2: Fuck man?
- 54:41Speaker 3: Uh heroines?
- 54:44Speaker 2: Uh that is incorrect. I cannot give you that.
- 54:48Speaker 3: Uh.
- 54:48Speaker 2: Felicia is definitely not a heroin. Stevie, you can steal
- 54:52Speaker 2: from one point again. They are Lynette, Deona and Carrara
- 54:55Speaker 2: from Genschen Impact, Mio and Neo Nia from Xeno Blake Chronicles,
- 55:01Speaker 2: Felicia from Darkstalkers. And you're a Weichy ship hooyt. I
- 55:05Speaker 2: might be saying that wrong, Shihuin from Bleach.
- 55:09Speaker 1: If I guess, I don't lose a point, right, No,
- 55:13Speaker 1: they all have transformations.
- 55:17Speaker 2: I'm gonna say no, technically, I don't think Felicia transforms,
- 55:20Speaker 2: and I don't know about Genchen Impact, but this is
- 55:23Speaker 2: kind of much more simpler. What's what's the thing about
- 55:26Speaker 2: the main guy from Bleach that stands out his hair?
- 55:29Speaker 2: Kind of? These are all fictional characters with cat ears.
- 55:37Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, these are all fictional characters with cat ears.
- 55:42Speaker 2: Those three from Genchian Impact, those two from Zeno Blakee chronicles.
- 55:46Speaker 2: You see from Darkstalkers is basically a cat creature.
- 55:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah, she's got the paws.
- 55:51Speaker 3: And yeah, I didn't fall into that Genchen Impact.
- 55:55Speaker 2: I stay out of that trap.
- 55:57Speaker 1: I know what I gotcha.
- 55:58Speaker 3: Game is.
- 56:01Speaker 2: All right, well, no points, but there's still gonna be
- 56:03Speaker 2: more categories that you can gain Stevie. You can choose
- 56:07Speaker 2: from alt, delete, insert or end.
- 56:10Speaker 1: Let's go all alt.
- 56:12Speaker 2: It is Stevie your first clue for five points. Teddy Roosevelt, Ah,
- 56:18Speaker 2: that guy okay? Next for three points? Airdale next, please
- 56:32Speaker 2: for two points. Scottish next one for one point? Yorkshire,
- 56:51Speaker 2: Well we got one point yet, this is the last chance.
- 56:55Speaker 2: I don't lose a point out he buzzed in before
- 56:59Speaker 2: time ran out, So will give you a chance to
- 57:00Speaker 2: guess for one point? What do you think it is?
- 57:02Speaker 1: Are they all pies?
- 57:06Speaker 2: We love me some tedd pies. No, that is in
- 57:13Speaker 2: I'll give me a chance to steal for one, give.
- 57:15Speaker 3: Me some of that rough rider pie.
- 57:16Speaker 2: The clues. The clues were Teddy Roosevelt, Airdale, Scottish and Yorkshire.
- 57:26Speaker 3: God damn, are these all conservationists?
- 57:30Speaker 1: No animals, these these are all conservation.
- 57:35Speaker 2: These are all breeds of terrier. Fun that was my
- 57:38Speaker 2: second guess. A Scottish terrier, a York Rier, an air terrier.
- 57:43Speaker 2: And as a as of January of this year, there
- 57:47Speaker 2: is a Teddy Roosevelt terrier. It's an official breed.
- 57:51Speaker 3: Okay, that's what that's.
- 57:53Speaker 2: Why, that's why it was the first one. Only if
- 57:57Speaker 2: you'd read that story. But you guessed.
- 57:59Speaker 1: But he doesn't smoke.
- 58:01Speaker 2: No point to either one of you. I give this
- 58:03Speaker 2: is your chance to I'll give this your chance to
- 58:07Speaker 2: catch up. You can choose delete, insert or.
- 58:09Speaker 3: End insert or in.
- 58:14Speaker 2: Uh, let's do delete delete It is all right. So
- 58:18Speaker 2: Oggy your first clue for five points. Deputy next for
- 58:25Speaker 2: three points, under next for two points, snoop next for
- 58:39Speaker 2: one point. Courage the cowardly.
- 58:46Speaker 4: Got hoggy, hoy buzzes, we're all dogs.
- 58:51Speaker 2: I was like, oh, I'll give that to you, you
- 58:53Speaker 2: can stop. We just started watching, Yes, Deputy Dog, Underdog,
- 58:59Speaker 2: Snoop DOGG and kur Ridge the Cowardly Dog. They can
- 59:01Speaker 2: all be followed by a variation of the word dog.
- 59:04Speaker 2: Deputy Dog is spelled d A W G, and of
- 59:08Speaker 2: course Snoop Dog is d O G, but they're all
- 59:11Speaker 2: the word dog. I was really tempted to, but I
- 59:18Speaker 2: was worried it would have been too hard. At any
- 59:23Speaker 2: points I would have gotten it, just like with courage,
- 59:25Speaker 2: and like it's all tied up one a piece. There
- 59:27Speaker 2: are just two categories. Stevie. You may choose insert or end,
- 59:33Speaker 2: and it is Stevie for five points. Grace she passed
- 59:41Speaker 2: away years ago, Next for three points. These go to
- 59:59Speaker 2: next for two points. Jigawatts jigawatts, next for one point.
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: If I'm not back in minutes, just wait longer, Steve.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: Steve buzzes in in time.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: They all have to deal with time. I have nothing.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: I really don't know. No, that's not correct, Aggie, you
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: can steal it. I'll go over them one more time.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: Grace she passed away years ago. These go too jigawatts jigawatts.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: If I'm not back in minutes, just wait longer.
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: It was that one comedian guy from like Ariosplanes and
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: ow uh but his face.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: Fuck.
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: Can never remember a goddamn name.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: He's a gredient.
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: He really fucking funny, slapstick shit.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: He is a cop, a detective.
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: I don't know name.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: Unfortunately, that's that would be my guess if I could
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: remember it.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: I'm not sure what exactly you're referring to. Are you
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: talking about ace Ventura?
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: No, no, the goddamn I'm just I'm drawing a blank
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: A white hair okay, goy got white haired comedian?
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: Oh, Steve Martin?
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: Is it Steve Martin?
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it's Steve Martin's had way here for a long time.
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess so.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: No, Okay, that's not right.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: He was thinking, I thought you had it.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: I genuinely thought you had it because you looked at
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: me like I genuinely thought I was thinking.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: So.
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: These are all movie quotes with the numbers removed. Oh.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: The first quote is from National Lampoon's Vacation Grace she
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: passed away thirty years ago.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: I knew, I knew it from something.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: The second one is from Spinal Tap. These go to eleven.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: The second one is from Back to the Future one
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: point twenty one jigawatts one point twenty one jigawatts, and
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: the last one is from ace Ventura, which is where
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: I thought you were getting it from. If I'm not
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: back in five minutes, just way longer. Oh god, damn it.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: Yeah I could figure what that one was.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: Okay, the score is tied one to one. This is
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: your chance to win or tie the game. Your Your
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: last one is insert and your first clue for five
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: points amiable, nect for three points, amend.
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: A.
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: Then next for for two points a rouse.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: Okay, mind.
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: Next for one point around Augie ougy buzzes in.
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: All the words in that funk satisfactory.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: What never mind? Didn't you say all the ones you
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: say that game?
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: No, I didn't say that game never mind, I made
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: a joke.
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: No, that's incorrect, Stevie peel and you would win the
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: game if you were able to steal this. I'll give
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: you the clues again, Amiable, amend, a rouse, and around.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: They all star as a letter A.
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: It's not that simple, no, No, these are what are
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: called beheaded words because they mean the exact same thing
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: if you remove the first letter, so amiable means the
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: same thing as meable, which is an archaic word to
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: be fair. A mend means the same thing as ment,
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: a rouse means the same thing as rows, and around
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: and round are very similar.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: It's so messed up. It was just dumb.
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: I'll admit that one was the toughest one of the bunch. Yeah,
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: but holy the fact of the matter is you both
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: got one point, which means you both get three episode points. Crap,
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: but that means at five to four, Aggie is our winner.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: Nice dude, Congratulations, well done Fox.
