- 1:35Speaker 1: jump right into our talk on the for Sights episode
- 1:37Speaker 1: two with a synopsis.
- 1:40Speaker 2: After a family night at the opera, Joe makes a
- 1:43Speaker 2: life changing discovery while Solmes, smitten with Irene, makes a
- 1:48Speaker 2: hasty decision.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Ooh.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Our regular cast returns with a few new editions not
- 1:53Speaker 1: previously mentioned in last week's episode, beginning with Dexter Seeton
- 1:56Speaker 1: as Joss. This is his only acting credit. Tilly Walker
- 2:00Speaker 1: plays Holly. Tilly has eight previous acting credits, including the
- 2:04Speaker 1: movie The Conjuring Last Rites. She also has three upcoming projects,
- 2:08Speaker 1: It's a Real Different Vibe hmm. Jamie Flatters plays June's
- 2:12Speaker 1: potential love interest, Philip. Jamie has fifteen acting credits, including
- 2:16Speaker 1: Avatar The Way of Water and Avatar Fire and.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Ash Tallula Evans plays Olivia Carteret. She has fourteen previous
- 2:24Speaker 2: acting credits, including a Paramount Plus series called Girl Taken
- 2:28Speaker 2: and the horror movie Winnie the Pooh, Blood and Honey Too. What.
- 2:33Speaker 2: I didn't realize there was even such a thing Flasher,
- 2:36Speaker 2: Winnie the Pooh yait apparently apparently so. George Lammaman plays
- 2:40Speaker 2: Horatio Carteret. He has four acting credits, with this being
- 2:44Speaker 2: his biggest project. We are going to take a quick
- 2:55Speaker 2: breg and we are gonna come right back with our
- 2:57Speaker 2: first impressions of episode two of the Foresights. Hey, Wendy,
- 3:01Speaker 2: hit me with your first impression of the Foresights up two.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Last week I said Selm's high Rise up, but actually
- 3:08Speaker 2: stood back down because Joe discovering that he has kids
- 3:13Speaker 2: and handles it with actual feelings has made me sort
- 3:17Speaker 2: of switch sides, seem Joe, I don't know.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I'm so conflicted. My first impression is I can see
- 3:25Speaker 1: the catastrophically bad decisions coming our way, and I'm nervous.
- 3:30Speaker 1: But it's so delicious. Oh, it's great, it's great. I'm
- 3:34Speaker 1: tuning in. I'm tuning in. I know, let's talk about
- 3:39Speaker 1: that scene where Joe meets the children. I mean, I
- 3:42Speaker 1: know we're jumping really far ahead. We got to talk
- 3:44Speaker 1: about it. I thought it was really good. You're right
- 3:49Speaker 1: when he meets them and gets down on their level
- 3:53Speaker 1: and is stunned by their presence and not afraid of
- 3:59Speaker 1: them and instead wants to know them.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Oof, it was great, But then like Luis says, like,
- 4:06Speaker 2: all right, do you talk about the back dude?
- 4:09Speaker 1: Yeah, So Lisa is interesting to me because she's so
- 4:14Speaker 1: much stronger than Joe is. Yeah, Like Joe's just this idealist.
- 4:20Speaker 1: He's like, love will find a way, and she's like, yo,
- 4:24Speaker 1: I'm a lady's maid, Like this is not gonna work.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Your family will never let it. And it's almost frustrating
- 4:30Speaker 1: to the point to which Joe isn't willing to accept
- 4:33Speaker 1: the reality of their future right, And she tells him
- 4:37Speaker 1: over and over again, like you're gonna go back to
- 4:40Speaker 1: your life and there won't be a place for me
- 4:42Speaker 1: in it, And he gives her what I feel is
- 4:45Speaker 1: false hope because at their end of their goodbye, she's like,
- 4:49Speaker 1: I will come to you. Yeah. I'm like, what is
- 4:54Speaker 1: Joe thinking? You're married, sir?
- 4:58Speaker 2: Like I get that you have just realized you have
- 5:01Speaker 2: two children, but also you're married and you have a
- 5:07Speaker 2: stepdaughter who as who is seen as a foresight, So.
- 5:14Speaker 1: What are you gonna do here? Okay, I hear what
- 5:17Speaker 1: you're saying. That leads me to a question I have later,
- 5:21Speaker 1: but I'll ask it now. I don't think Joe has
- 5:24Speaker 1: done anything wrong up to this point. I don't think
- 5:27Speaker 1: Joe's done anything wrong either. I think he's behaving dangerously
- 5:31Speaker 1: going to the shop. And of course, when we see James,
- 5:36Speaker 1: his uncle see him and put all the pieces together,
- 5:40Speaker 1: he sees Jos. I assume he sees that Joss resembles Julian.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I don't necessarily think he does, but I think that's
- 5:47Speaker 1: the connection he's making. Plus he knows that the family
- 5:51Speaker 1: was talking about Joe and how he connected with Louisa
- 5:54Speaker 1: at the party, and you know, we just kind of
- 5:56Speaker 1: see him like mahahaha, right, seeing what's happening there. I
- 6:00Speaker 1: think Joe is kind of reacting the way I want
- 6:04Speaker 1: him to.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Yeah, he could be a total d bag and be
- 6:08Speaker 2: like those aren't my kids, I don't want anything to
- 6:11Speaker 2: do with you.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Blah blah blah blah blah.
- 6:12Speaker 2: But obviously it's like set up that Luis's the one
- 6:16Speaker 2: that got away, right, and even though her lot in
- 6:20Speaker 2: life is different than his, which she sees as reality,
- 6:24Speaker 2: but he's like, you said, such an idealist.
- 6:27Speaker 1: He's like, no, it can happen.
- 6:29Speaker 2: But like he is also married, what is he going
- 6:33Speaker 2: to do leave his wife? Well?
- 6:36Speaker 1: Yeah, so agree, what is he going to do? What's
- 6:40Speaker 1: happening here? Because when he goes back to Luisa, when
- 6:43Speaker 1: he goes to her shop, he doesn't know about the children.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Yet.
- 6:48Speaker 1: He doesn't find out about the children until the very
- 6:50Speaker 1: end of this episode. And so that's the part to
- 6:53Speaker 1: me where she's like, you can't keep coming back here.
- 6:56Speaker 1: But now that he knows about the children, to me,
- 7:00Speaker 1: it's two separate things. What are we going to do
- 7:02Speaker 1: about your relationship with Louisa and what are we going
- 7:05Speaker 1: to do about these children? Because he does not seem
- 7:08Speaker 1: to be in a position to walk away from knowing them,
- 7:12Speaker 1: like he says, like he says something to Francis and
- 7:17Speaker 1: he says, I can't wish away to human beings. Yeah,
- 7:21Speaker 1: that's a good line. It is a good line. It's
- 7:25Speaker 1: messy though. It's messy because Francis is like, you need
- 7:27Speaker 1: to promise not to divulge this information to anyone, and
- 7:31Speaker 1: I'm like, yo, that's never going to happen. Well, and
- 7:34Speaker 1: that's what is so interesting about Francis as a villain
- 7:37Speaker 1: because she's concerned about her own status, right, Yes, I
- 7:44Speaker 1: think that's what it comes down to. Yeah, I think
- 7:47Speaker 1: I think it's it's it's all tangled up because her
- 7:49Speaker 1: own status is tied to Joe's status.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Right.
- 7:53Speaker 1: And we see the way she conspires with Joe Senior
- 7:56Speaker 1: in this episode in a to me it has romance
- 8:00Speaker 1: antic undertones, the way they send I'm together.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Yes, I agree, it feels something feels off there.
- 8:09Speaker 1: She was brought into this marriage for a purpose. And
- 8:12Speaker 1: while they do show themselves having genuine affection for each other,
- 8:19Speaker 1: you know, I don't think Joe sees this purely as
- 8:23Speaker 1: a marriage of convenience. But like you said, this is
- 8:28Speaker 1: the one true love of his life, Luisa, Uh huh,
- 8:33Speaker 1: And Francis talks in a different scene, Francis talks to
- 8:36Speaker 1: me June. Yeah, and she basically says, like, you know,
- 8:41Speaker 1: you get one soulmate and Joe and I love each other,
- 8:45Speaker 1: but your father was it for me? Kind of was
- 8:48Speaker 1: the message there? Uh?
- 8:50Speaker 2: No?
- 8:50Speaker 1: I read it as Joe's her soulmate. Joe was her soulmate?
- 8:55Speaker 2: Yes, maybe, but wouldn't it be so scandalous if you
- 9:00Speaker 2: know Senior was her soul?
- 9:01Speaker 1: Me, Oh, do you think I could ever go that way? Like,
- 9:06Speaker 1: do you think I could ever they would be.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Having like some sort of romantic affair like all these years.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Oh, you think it's happening like it has been happening.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I don't know. You know, that's a good question. I
- 9:19Speaker 1: don't see that as currently happening, but I've been wrong before.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I do see it as a potential possibility. I just
- 9:28Speaker 1: think if you watch the pit, there's all these like wild,
- 9:31Speaker 1: outlandish theories about what's happening, and sometimes like baby jan
- 9:35Speaker 1: Joe is just an abandoned baby. She's not the baby
- 9:37Speaker 1: of some other right, it's not anything bigger than that.
- 9:40Speaker 1: So I hesitate to get too far ahead of myself,
- 9:45Speaker 1: and I I feel like it's romantic. But perhaps it's
- 9:48Speaker 1: just that they're working so closely together toward the common
- 9:53Speaker 1: goal of elevating Joli into the head of the foresight,
- 10:00Speaker 1: so to speak, that they just that's their number one goal.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I mean, we've seen so far in these two episodes
- 10:10Speaker 1: love and happiness is not the number one goal of
- 10:13Speaker 1: anybody except for maybe Solmes. At this point, Oh, can
- 10:18Speaker 1: we talk about Solmes?
- 10:19Speaker 2: For a second. Yes, So him and.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Irene, I is this gonna go badly because he seems
- 10:30Speaker 3: to be all in and like Irene when when he
- 10:33Speaker 3: like presents her with.
- 10:36Speaker 2: I mean, I guess a proposal ish, I don't know exactly,
- 10:41Speaker 2: but and he's like, and then we could be together
- 10:43Speaker 2: and we can go to Paris and if you're unhappy,
- 10:46Speaker 2: you're free to go blah blah blah whatever. But and
- 10:48Speaker 2: she's like, this is so unexpected. Was she not feeling
- 10:51Speaker 2: the romantic vibes between.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Them or what's going on? Clearly dates like you're on
- 10:56Speaker 1: a boat on the water, duh, yeah, buying you ballet slippers,
- 11:01Speaker 1: Like this man is smitten. See it's so interesting because
- 11:05Speaker 1: last episode you're like all in on Solmes and I'm like,
- 11:07Speaker 1: Solmes will grow in me. So this is the episode
- 11:09Speaker 1: like the swoony Solmes is the Somes that I'm a
- 11:12Speaker 1: fan of, the one.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Who's like his monologue to her I thought was great.
- 11:17Speaker 1: I was like, whoa, yeah, And this is a different
- 11:22Speaker 1: Somes with This is Solmes with a different motivation than
- 11:26Speaker 1: we've seen him before, because prior to this, we see
- 11:28Speaker 1: him scheming with his father and talking with his father
- 11:31Speaker 1: and he's all business and all about what's the best
- 11:35Speaker 1: for the business and what's the best thing for me
- 11:37Speaker 1: in the business. But with Irene, he's all hearts. He's
- 11:42Speaker 1: not thinking about the best thing for the family. And
- 11:46Speaker 1: clearly behind the scenes, his mom and his dad and
- 11:49Speaker 1: even his brother and sister in law are talking about oh,
- 11:52Speaker 1: Olivia Carteret and they're you know, and he djaf about
- 11:57Speaker 1: that lady. Yeah, and his mom's like, oh somes he's
- 12:03Speaker 1: in love, and I'm like, what are you pay attention? Also,
- 12:06Speaker 1: if I may, what was going on with her hair?
- 12:10Speaker 1: Oh I didn't notice. Oh my gosh, you have got
- 12:14Speaker 1: to go back and look at her hair before the ball.
- 12:17Speaker 1: It's basically her hair is turned into a giant bow
- 12:20Speaker 1: on top of her head. Oh interesting, it's wild. I
- 12:24Speaker 1: wonder if that's of the time or not, or it's
- 12:27Speaker 1: just this woman.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Is kookie a piece of work? Yeah, I mean she's
- 12:33Speaker 2: really under a dog and stuff.
- 12:36Speaker 1: When he's like, oh, perhaps I can stay home with
- 12:38Speaker 1: the dog and pet it, it just I don't know
- 12:43Speaker 1: what it was. He was like, please don't make me go.
- 12:46Speaker 1: I don't want to be.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Wolf.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Yeah. So that whole Solm's thing and Irene It is
- 12:57Speaker 1: interesting that she roll it back. Was she not seeing
- 13:03Speaker 1: the potential of romance for two reasons? One, she thought
- 13:07Speaker 1: he was going for Clarissa, her stepmother. Yeah, I was like,
- 13:12Speaker 1: what what he come on? He's just being nice to her?
- 13:16Speaker 1: And too, she knows who he is, she knows the
- 13:20Speaker 1: foresight name is it that she thinks, well, we're ruined,
- 13:23Speaker 1: so I'm I'm not of use to him, So he
- 13:26Speaker 1: couldn't be looking at man that way. I mean, is
- 13:28Speaker 1: it that happened but her mind, she didn't even wasn't
- 13:30Speaker 1: even open to that possibility because of those factors. Yeah,
- 13:35Speaker 1: that's that's maybe what I think. Maybe she just thought
- 13:37Speaker 1: he was just being nice. But you know, she's a
- 13:41Speaker 1: main character. I assume she's in every single episode, and
- 13:43Speaker 1: so something is going to be happening with her, although
- 13:48Speaker 1: I don't know what.
- 13:50Speaker 2: I know, I'm very excited, actually.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Very excited. Yeah, whose relationship are you excited to see
- 13:57Speaker 1: the future of Louisa and Joe or so and Irene?
- 14:01Speaker 2: I don't both. Yeah, you know, it's like these two
- 14:06Speaker 2: women that the family would not pick for their sons.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Both redheads. By the way, Oh interesting.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Yeah, you know we do get mentioned in this episode
- 14:21Speaker 2: about renegade. I'm going to talk about that scene in
- 14:23Speaker 2: a second, but I'm like, oh, maybe maybe Joe and
- 14:26Speaker 2: Solmes are both renegades as well. You know, they do
- 14:32Speaker 2: not what the family wants. Yeah, yeah, that's a great point.
- 14:36Speaker 1: And it's so interesting because Solmes is like, Joe just
- 14:39Speaker 1: needs to get with the program and fall in line,
- 14:43Speaker 1: and here he is doing his own damn thing.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, exactly. So I want to talk about the
- 14:50Speaker 2: scene when June is so freaking adorable. First of all,
- 14:55Speaker 2: she's like this MVP of the show. I think her
- 15:00Speaker 2: and her stepdad Joe have more of like like a
- 15:03Speaker 2: sibling kind of vibe. Yeah, the way you know he's
- 15:07Speaker 2: he's not such a bother figure. He's more of like
- 15:09Speaker 2: a confidant, like an older sibling would be. I really
- 15:13Speaker 2: enjoy watching that. And so then at the end when
- 15:17Speaker 2: she feels like such betrayal when she learns about she
- 15:21Speaker 2: overhears about Joe and the dressmaker, and like she's so
- 15:25Speaker 2: upset about it. Kind of feels heartbreaking. But June, when
- 15:30Speaker 2: they're at the party or whatever, and she asks the
- 15:36Speaker 2: young guy, the carteret guy, Horatio, if he's ever read Frankenstein,
- 15:42Speaker 2: and she makes this Frankenstein analogy about like it being
- 15:47Speaker 2: so controlled, right, and it goes badly, which like she's
- 15:51Speaker 2: completely clocked the system that she lives in, Like like
- 15:55Speaker 2: you had said, either it might have been this episode
- 15:57Speaker 2: or the last one we did, but she has a
- 16:00Speaker 2: mind of her own, right.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Yes, And then she meets the guy on the stairs, Philip.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Who clocks her as being like, you know, a rebel right,
- 16:13Speaker 2: and then he's like, I'm a I think he calls
- 16:15Speaker 2: himself a just above.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Here, that's what he calls himself. Yeah.
- 16:19Speaker 2: I had to pause and see like what he gave
- 16:21Speaker 2: her because I was like so fast, but it was
- 16:23Speaker 2: like it was like for a meeting ideals on socialism.
- 16:26Speaker 2: I was like, Okay, look at June, Like she she
- 16:30Speaker 2: may do something different here, like way against the family.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Maybe she is like Joe in a lot of ways,
- 16:36Speaker 2: even not being.
- 16:37Speaker 1: His actual biological Oh. I think she is so much
- 16:41Speaker 1: more like Joe than her mother. Yeah, straining against the
- 16:46Speaker 1: shekels of the life that they have been handed. Yeah.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I thought it was it was nice to see that
- 16:52Speaker 1: moment of teenage levity because she's eighteen years old, her
- 16:56Speaker 1: mother is trying to marry her off, but she sees
- 16:58Speaker 1: a cute boy and she's been him through the opera classes,
- 17:01Speaker 1: and I just it was nice to see her be
- 17:05Speaker 1: young and a little smitten yeah by boy. I thought
- 17:09Speaker 1: it was a nice scene. And she's so fun you know.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I was so torn when she overhears Joe and Francis
- 17:16Speaker 1: talking about Louisa and the children, and she's so hurt
- 17:19Speaker 1: by that, and I was like, Okay, but hear him
- 17:22Speaker 1: out because he again hasn't done anything wrong, Like everyone
- 17:25Speaker 1: knows he had a life. No, Okay, is it scandalous
- 17:29Speaker 1: that he has children, Yes, but A he didn't know
- 17:32Speaker 1: about them, and B he didn't know about her mother
- 17:34Speaker 1: before all of this. So I get that she feels
- 17:37Speaker 1: threatened because she's like the child in his life. But
- 17:45Speaker 1: in that moment, I was like, hold on, give Joe
- 17:47Speaker 1: a little bit of credit here, Like anytime someone's getting
- 17:49Speaker 1: mad at him, I'm like, hey, didn't do anything wrong.
- 17:52Speaker 1: You're totally at his defense. Yeah, I'm a Joe apologist
- 17:55Speaker 1: at this moment. You're funny. I would just like to
- 18:00Speaker 1: say the final shot of Francis all alone spying all
- 18:04Speaker 1: of Joe's Venice art and just they're washing over her
- 18:08Speaker 1: of like, why this is It's not just the place,
- 18:11Speaker 1: you know, it's the memories of the place that he
- 18:13Speaker 1: keeps recreating. It was great. Yeah, it was great. So
- 18:18Speaker 1: subtle but great too.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:19Speaker 1: And then the closing shot of Some's and Joe side
- 18:22Speaker 1: by side on their terraces. Yeah, both going through it.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Loved it. One of them smoking, one of them's having
- 18:28Speaker 1: a drink. They're like, dude, Yeah, they.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Probably have more in common than they want to let
- 18:34Speaker 2: them allow themselves, do you know what I mean? Yeah,
- 18:39Speaker 2: if they could like get their shit together, maybe they
- 18:42Speaker 2: can like be a powerhouse business family. But there's so
- 18:48Speaker 2: much infighting there.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Just communicate people.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Yeah, really, okay, let's go into wishes.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I am this is a repeat of last week for me.
- 18:58Speaker 2: I again, I need to know clearer details of the
- 19:03Speaker 2: family business. I need to understand why Joe versus Films
- 19:08Speaker 2: matters other than like it's a pissing contest between these
- 19:13Speaker 2: James and Joe Senior. That's what I need to know.
- 19:17Speaker 1: But almost it seems like James and Joe Senior are
- 19:19Speaker 1: on the same side. It seems like Joe's the only
- 19:22Speaker 1: one who feels differently when they're having that conversation about
- 19:25Speaker 1: the mining, and I was like, or the goal, Yeah,
- 19:28Speaker 1: the mining.
- 19:28Speaker 2: The goal.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Again, I had to watch that scene twice and I
- 19:32Speaker 1: still was like, I don't understand what the argument is here.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's unclear to me.
- 19:38Speaker 1: I just need give me five minutes, give me you know,
- 19:43Speaker 1: it doesn't help for me that this is not a
- 19:45Speaker 1: business that I would understand under the best of circumstances.
- 19:48Speaker 1: I'm just not wired to fully understand the way this
- 19:51Speaker 1: business works. So I wish the business were something that
- 19:56Speaker 1: I could wrap my head around a little bit, like what,
- 20:01Speaker 1: I don't know, what are you making fun of me?
- 20:05Speaker 2: No, I would be I'm progressed to come up with
- 20:08Speaker 2: a business in this century, you know.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I have to take myself out of my twenty
- 20:15Speaker 1: twenty six frame of mind, and I also have to
- 20:19Speaker 1: wonder how strongly the details of the business do matter,
- 20:25Speaker 1: and if it's just the family dynamics in the business.
- 20:30Speaker 1: I'm trying to understand a little bit better the role
- 20:33Speaker 1: of Isaac.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Oh.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like he's a person that we don't
- 20:38Speaker 1: know enough about. I think in the last episode we
- 20:41Speaker 1: talked about the very helpful Definitive Character Guide on PBS
- 20:46Speaker 1: dot org, and Isaac is listed there. It says he's
- 20:51Speaker 1: originally from Sierra Leone, adopted by a clergyman and brought
- 20:54Speaker 1: to England for a gentleman's education. He's the in house
- 20:58Speaker 1: lawyer for Foresight, and and he's Joe's best friend and confidant.
- 21:02Speaker 1: I just think maybe it would be nice if we
- 21:05Speaker 1: knew more about him. We learned that he and Joe
- 21:08Speaker 1: were close because he recognized Louisa from Venice.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Yeah, they have a really quick scene which they showed
- 21:17Speaker 2: in episode one two of them boxing.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Yeah, uh huh.
- 21:21Speaker 2: And they mentioned Oxford, so I believe they went to
- 21:24Speaker 2: school together.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Oh nice, thank you. I kind of hope we get
- 21:26Speaker 1: just a little more isaac backstory, a little more about
- 21:30Speaker 1: his relationship with Joe. Yeah.
- 21:33Speaker 2: I think you know, when Joe Senior says something to Isaac,
- 21:37Speaker 2: like he basically asks his opinion of Joe Junior when
- 21:40Speaker 2: he comes to his defense, Yeah, he had his back
- 21:43Speaker 2: to Yeah. I would like more of that, more of
- 21:46Speaker 2: their relationship. Yeah.
- 21:49Speaker 1: I mean, when it comes to wishes in this episode,
- 21:51Speaker 1: it's just like, give me more, give me more of
- 21:52Speaker 1: the details. I just I just let's get into it.
- 21:55Speaker 1: That's really where my wishes are lying. And I they're
- 21:59Speaker 1: doing a nice job. I'm really enjoying the pacing of
- 22:01Speaker 1: this and the doling out of the dramatic moments and
- 22:05Speaker 1: the reveals.
- 22:07Speaker 2: So that's interesting when you mentioned pacing, because I do
- 22:10Speaker 2: wish it was a tiny bit quicker.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Oh gosh, Really.
- 22:16Speaker 2: It's slow burn and I know that it's like character driven.
- 22:21Speaker 2: I just feel like sometimes like tighten some stuff up.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Interesting. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. I wonder
- 22:29Speaker 1: IM's bad language for you that makes you makes it
- 22:32Speaker 1: feel that way. Maybe maybe Yeah, to me, you have
- 22:36Speaker 1: to turn me off, though I know that's interesting and
- 22:39Speaker 1: I don't find it slow. And I also am watching
- 22:42Speaker 1: it back to back with count of Monte Cristo, which
- 22:44Speaker 1: is very slow paced, and I do enjoy the pacing
- 22:47Speaker 1: of that. I think it's appropriate. This just feels like
- 22:51Speaker 1: there's To me, it just feel like there's a lot happening.
- 22:53Speaker 1: And yeah, that's interesting that it feel so too.
- 23:00Speaker 2: But it's only episode two. I know there's like a
- 23:03Speaker 2: lot of things unfolding.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think we're potentially going to really slow
- 23:09Speaker 1: down on the next couple as we start to flesh
- 23:12Speaker 1: some of these relationships out. I think so too. Can
- 23:17Speaker 1: I ask you a question? Yeah, did you care about
- 23:20Speaker 1: the Bluebird?
- 23:24Speaker 2: I've understood the significance of it at the end, except
- 23:29Speaker 2: I was.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Like, I think they gave it too much weight. I
- 23:32Speaker 1: think so too. Like I think it's a nice It's
- 23:35Speaker 1: it's a nice moment for June when she realizes, like
- 23:38Speaker 1: this was important to Joe. He's kept it all this time.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Now she knows where it came from, right, like he's
- 23:47Speaker 1: held onto it. I think it like the significance of
- 23:49Speaker 1: it for June helps solidify like how important Louisa is
- 23:54Speaker 1: to Joe. Yeah, but I was like, stop flashing on
- 23:57Speaker 1: the damn bluebird. You're like, okay, enough enough. I understand
- 24:03Speaker 1: the need for Joe's long hair during his time in Venice,
- 24:06Speaker 1: but I hate it.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Oh, you don't like the little curls. It's so blonde,
- 24:12Speaker 2: too write like he's been out in the sun, live
- 24:15Speaker 2: in the life, and it's clearly a wig.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I just don't like it. What else would you know? No,
- 24:23Speaker 1: I understand I'm not suggesting that you. I just don't
- 24:26Speaker 1: like it. I don't like the long hair. It's not
- 24:27Speaker 1: his luck. I'm sorry. I don't hate it. Interesting, I
- 24:31Speaker 1: don't hate it. I don't hate it at all. I
- 24:36Speaker 1: have some questions for you.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Okay, if you're Louisa, do you let Joe back in
- 24:44Speaker 2: your life?
- 24:45Speaker 1: No? You know, in the Count of Monte Cristo, we
- 24:50Speaker 1: talk a lot about what motivates your actions, and a
- 24:52Speaker 1: lot of people are motivated by self preservation. I think
- 24:58Speaker 1: she says like, I'm I'm ruined here. I'm the one
- 25:01Speaker 1: who's the whore if this comes out mm hmm and
- 25:06Speaker 1: the old Okay, Yes, she loves him, clearly. Yes, her
- 25:12Speaker 1: children potentially deserve a father, although she's a very wonderful mother.
- 25:17Speaker 1: That's clear. So you got a weigh the cost, and
- 25:20Speaker 1: to me, the cost isn't worth it as hard as
- 25:26Speaker 1: it would be. What do you think I mean? I
- 25:29Speaker 1: don't know.
- 25:30Speaker 2: This episode leans so heavily into soulmates, right, Yeah, are
- 25:37Speaker 2: Joe and Louisa's soulmates? If that's your soulmate. She's been
- 25:42Speaker 2: in love with this man since he left. She had
- 25:47Speaker 2: his two children, Like, I think she's in love with them,
- 25:50Speaker 2: but you're right about self preservation, Like, she's like, what
- 25:53Speaker 2: is she to do?
- 25:54Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 25:55Speaker 2: She's established herself as a fantastic dressmaker in this town.
- 25:59Speaker 1: And if it all comes out like she's ruined, we
- 26:04Speaker 1: see how much power the family has over him. Even
- 26:07Speaker 1: if Joe decides I want us to be together, he
- 26:12Speaker 1: may not have the power to make that happen, and
- 26:14Speaker 1: all his power lies in the family, And if the
- 26:16Speaker 1: family cuts him off, he has nothing. Yeah. Yeah, I
- 26:22Speaker 1: just don't know. I just don't want her to put
- 26:26Speaker 1: her fate in the hands of this man.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Quite frankly, what I don't want is to him carry
- 26:32Speaker 2: on some sort.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Of love affair. No, I don't want that either, he said.
- 26:36Speaker 2: If he's married, I don't want that Francis like that
- 26:40Speaker 2: turns him into a not so great guy. You know,
- 26:43Speaker 2: unless what if we find out that Francis has not
- 26:46Speaker 2: been behaving appropriately? Yeah, yeah, if she's been doing the
- 26:52Speaker 2: dirty with Joe Senior, then it's then it's fair game, baby. Yeah,
- 26:58Speaker 2: and I ford maybe that's swear we're gonna get. I
- 27:01Speaker 2: don't know.
- 27:02Speaker 1: I gotta spoil I gotta google.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Hold on a second, I'm gonna do it.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Just hold on a second, Okay. I just can't wait
- 27:11Speaker 1: to watch this unfold. I'm super into it. I'm super
- 27:14Speaker 1: into it. Yeah, I just want to One line that
- 27:16Speaker 1: I forgot to mention is before Joe realizes the children
- 27:21Speaker 1: are his or that she has children, he says is
- 27:24Speaker 1: the father dead? And she says as good as. I
- 27:26Speaker 1: was like, oh that's a good line. Yeah, I thought
- 27:28Speaker 1: that was a good line too. I thought that was
- 27:31Speaker 1: a really good line too.
- 27:32Speaker 2: In that same scene though, like when Little Holly's like
- 27:34Speaker 2: are you crying?
- 27:35Speaker 1: I was like, you're not crying. No, there was not
- 27:39Speaker 1: a tear shed. He's like yes, I'm like, no, you're not, dude.
- 27:42Speaker 1: I think these are happy tears. I'm like, well, yeah,
- 27:44Speaker 1: these are no tears. Someone spray that man's face with
- 27:47Speaker 1: a spray bottle exactly exactly. But I enjoyed it. I
- 27:51Speaker 1: will be back for episode three, Yeah we will. Hey,
