- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop, and
- 0:23let's start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:28Hey, good morning, everybody. OK, today we're in the garage.
- 0:32Just in case you're wondering why is it so quiet?
- 0:35Again, it's just because of these time, the timing.
- 0:37In the mornings, girls aren't even awake yet, and I am out in
- 0:40the garage. So we are talking about the fact
- 0:44that lying to yourself is exhausting.
- 0:48Really, truly exhausting. And one of the things that has
- 0:52really been prevalent in what we do as human beings is how much
- 0:56we sedate ourselves in situations by lying to
- 0:58ourselves. And then we wonder why we're
- 1:00always tired. We get sick so easy, all of
- 1:04these, and we want to attribute a lot of it to stress.
- 1:05And let me let me just say a boatload of it is from stress.
- 1:09However, there is a significant part of it that can be about the
- 1:14fact that we spend so much time lying to ourselves.
- 1:16Now you might be questioning, why would I be lying to myself?
- 1:19Well, a big part of why we lie to ourselves is the fact that we
- 1:24get stuck in just not doing the front load work of knowing
- 1:30ourselves so well. I mean, isn't that crazy that
- 1:32you would think I know myself so well.
- 1:34But the truth is we, we spend so much time trying to fit in.
- 1:38We spend so much time trying to find ways to make ourselves
- 1:42appear for the right job, the right person, all of these
- 1:45things that we morph and we morph into things that cause us
- 1:49to lie to ourselves just to get through the day.
- 1:52Now, I was very guilty of this early on in my life.
- 1:55I, I was the girl that wanted to like grow vegetables, flowers,
- 2:00garden from the time I was little and you know, I did it
- 2:05with my father. I was always out there growing
- 2:06like growing vegetables with my dad and doing stuff like that.
- 2:09But there was a significant part of my time when I was in high
- 2:13school where I was not being true to who I was.
- 2:17I refused to take art classes. And because I didn't want to be,
- 2:23I used to tell my parents I don't want to be told I have to
- 2:25draw at that point in time. But the truth was I wasn't
- 2:29confident in my skills, and I didn't want to go in there and
- 2:32feel crappy about the work I was doing because I was so nervous
- 2:36to do bad work. I just said no, you know what?
- 2:39I don't want to do this because if I go and then they're going
- 2:42to tell me to Draw Something. And if I don't feel like
- 2:43drawing, I don't want to draw. That was such a crock I I can't
- 2:48even begin to explain. And it is one of the decisions
- 2:52that I would love to have rectified in my life.
- 2:55I don't regret it, but I would love to have rectified it
- 2:58because I think it would have helped with my stress overall if
- 3:01I had done it. Now I can sit here and say with
- 3:05100% certainty that I'm grateful, beyond grateful for
- 3:08all the stress and the anxiety that I went through.
- 3:11Now that may sound crazy, but This is why I'm here now, I
- 3:15hadn't done all that and had those experiences.
- 3:17I wouldn't be doing this. And I truly believe that I had
- 3:20to have all that pain to get to this point.
- 3:22So one could say my soul was steering me in the right
- 3:25direction. But it it's always useful to
- 3:29say, hey, you know, what am I lying to myself about this?
- 3:32What are my true feelings about something?
- 3:35Because when you dig in and you figure out what those true
- 3:38feelings are, you, you take it on and you say, OK, how can I be
- 3:43honest with myself about this and still find ways around
- 3:47things to make it work? Now, I'm not saying that drawing
- 3:50classes would have changed my trajectory.
- 3:52I would have still ended up here.
- 3:54I'm I'm certain of that somehow, some way.
- 3:56However, would it have made my journey less painful
- 4:01Potentially, because I know how much when I release my
- 4:04creativity, how much better I feel overall.
- 4:08Anytime I get to do something creative, I feel incredible.
- 4:12So I know that could have helped my anxiety at a point when I
- 4:17didn't understand it at all or how to manage it or anything
- 4:21through it. So the point of all of this is
- 4:24when you start to recognize that you're feeling all of these
- 4:29emotions that lead to angst and you feel like you're stressed
- 4:34constantly. You feel exhausted constantly.
- 4:37You feel like you just want to sit and binge watch a show.
- 4:41You have to pause and say to yourself, is this really true?
- 4:45Is this, is this what I think it is, or is it something else?
- 4:50Am I lying to myself about something else?
- 4:52And often those little teeny weeny lies are not loud, my
- 4:57friends. They're quiet.
- 4:58They're in the back of your head.
- 5:00It's just like, you just don't want to do this.
- 5:03I don't want to go. And it's like this little tiny
- 5:05whisper, little tiny pokes. And guess what?
- 5:09That's what's trying to tell you something.
- 5:10It's just not being heard. It's not being heard, so it's
- 5:14just quiet. And it may have been that way
- 5:15for so, so long. Now.
- 5:16Some people get to the point where it's loud and it screams
- 5:19at you. That's what we're all kind of
- 5:20looking for. But pay attention to the
- 5:22whispers and just recognize that those lies are what's exhausting
- 5:27you. The lies are exhausting you.
- 5:29So figure it out and say I'm not going to do that to myself
- 5:34anymore. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:36you have a blessed day and I'll see you tomorrow.
- 5:38Bye.
