- 0:47Thank you. Now here are the hosts of the
- 0:50United We Scan podcast. Hey guys, this is episode 114
- 0:55AKA the Lost episode. I wasn't able to get in and
- 1:00record all of my missing pieces so I trimmed out the silences.
- 1:04Bear with us it's just James and Bill on this one.
- 1:08Due to weather, severe weather and people being under the
- 1:13weather this weekend, we did not put out an episode this week.
- 1:16So I'm finally getting this lost episode.
- 1:19I hope you enjoy it as much as possible, but at least it's
- 1:23something to listen to this week.
- 1:24Thanks guys. It's.
- 1:26Exhausting it, it really is. I mean, you know, we're in the
- 1:30midst of hunting for a house or a piece of ground to build a
- 1:33house on up here so that, you know, in case anything before
- 1:37falls one of our children, it would be large enough to
- 1:40accommodate us and have them at a reasonable distance in the
- 1:44same domicile. Got to hate real estate agents.
- 1:50How about this? How about you give them a list
- 1:53of what you want and they they go the other way.
- 1:56It's like, you know, I'm sorry, you know what the were you
- 1:59smoking? And when when, you know, I sent
- 2:02you a tight typed in block letter list.
- 2:07Didn't have to read cursive. Yeah, it's just anyway, let's
- 2:11see another day of the gun range.
- 2:17I I think they're at the point where they're going to start
- 2:19naming in one of the shooting lanes after me.
- 2:22Actually, they should. That's the, that, that's the
- 2:25store that keeps having sales and stuff and, and, you know,
- 2:28tempting me in to buy in three and four at a time.
- 2:33Anything else? No, nothing else.
- 2:35I mean, the, you know, the mini mail survey's over.
- 2:38I sat there and observed how people were getting less than
- 2:40400 pieces of mail a day. It's like, and then Saturday
- 2:45they they got hit with 300 pieces of, you know, non linear
- 2:48mail. All of a sudden just just just
- 2:51popped up and all parcels are moderate across the board.
- 2:56Here's a strange thing for you though.
- 2:58Unfortunately, I still get up early in the morning.
- 3:01So the other morning I'm up and I'm standing outside enjoying
- 3:03the fresh air and the coffee, and here comes an Amazon driver
- 3:08in his own car at 7:10 in the morning.
- 3:12Oh, hold it. There's a Amazon depot who's
- 3:15probably 2025 minutes away from me.
- 3:20You know, we would see all the Amazon trucks while I was on the
- 3:22route, you know, from time to time.
- 3:24Or the contractor trucks, I should say, not the Amazon
- 3:27truck. And here's a guy delivering his
- 3:29car at 7:10 in the morning. I found that a little surprising
- 3:34that somebody, a freelancer would be out there doing it in
- 3:37their own vehicle that early in the morning.
- 3:38What does that say to to? I mean, they confused the hot.
- 3:42I mean, usually they're the last drag to be out because they
- 3:46promised they shipped it and didn't get it out on their
- 3:47delivery vehicles. So that that raises a couple
- 3:51questions in my mind. Other than that, the spring
- 3:55looks like it's trying to break this week.
- 3:56We're we got weather in the 60s and the grandchildren are babies
- 4:02are really, really good and life life is pretty good overall.
- 4:06How about you, James? We go, Oh well this is a good
- 4:10week until Wednesday when I got about, got sick on the route and
- 4:16had to take the day off and took Wednesday and Thursday off
- 4:20because I just didn't feel good whatsoever.
- 4:23Went back to work on Friday, finish out the week before I
- 4:27left for the Spring Booster in Port Huron.
- 4:31Met up with Kristen and everybody of my state there that
- 4:34came to Spring Booster and it was a pretty good good turn out
- 4:38and good event. Had a few new people there and a
- 4:42lot of the people there were active carriers.
- 4:47There weren't as many retirees as there were active carriers at
- 4:50our spring booster this time. And I really appreciate that.
- 4:54That's a really good showing and it shows that people are in
- 4:57desperate need of information right now.
- 5:00But other than that, got down with spring booster, came here
- 5:04and now I'm on the air with you guys.
- 5:06Are you Kristen, you want talk about your week or?
- 5:10How many how many people went to your spring booster versus your
- 5:14big convention? There were at least 80 people at
- 5:17the spring booster. So bad.
- 5:19Yeah. My bad, no.
- 5:21And I do like that that we have our spring booster on the actual
- 5:24weekend. Granted, the state board meeting
- 5:27is the the Friday before it. And unfortunately, earning my
- 5:32leave to go to regional conferences makes it hard for me
- 5:37to actually go in and actually attend the state board meeting,
- 5:40although I do plan to attend a few of them coming up.
- 5:44So yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I can't argue with them on that,
- 5:51You know, get, get, get it in while you can before they tear
- 5:54off your plane ticket. But speaking.
- 5:59Of you submitted it more than 60 days, you know, before the trip,
- 6:04so we can't approve it yet. Oh my God.
- 6:12Speaking of our fall booster, so I wanted to put this out there.
- 6:15Our fall booster is going to include a day at the postal
- 6:21Museum here in Michigan Rural Postal Museum.
- 6:25So you get to see all the stuff from Michigan Rural Postal.
- 6:29Thanks. If anybody is interested, as
- 6:31they say, you can attend union events if you are a union
- 6:36member. But Bill, I'm jealous.
- 6:39You can come. You can come.
- 6:42I know. So can anybody else?
- 6:45That is a union number. My state president has said that
- 6:51as long as you are a union member, you can attend union
- 6:54events anywhere. That's it.
- 6:58Yeah. But you want to talk about our
- 7:00spring booster? What was talked about there,
- 7:02Kristen? Yeah.
- 7:03He came to my office not too long ago.
- 7:06So. But yeah, the Stewart Q&A was
- 7:09actually short and sweet because not a lot of people had
- 7:11questions this time. Yeah, it wasn't as vibrant as
- 7:15the last as a fall booster was for it.
- 7:19I think that was, there was so many things going on at that
- 7:21point. It Yeah.
- 7:23But big thing that I want to talk about as the rallies going
- 7:28up now, the city letter carriers, the NALC has set up
- 7:34rallies nationwide on Sunday, March 3rd.
- 7:39Now on thenalc.org website, you go to news and research, latest
- 7:46news and updates and you click the find a March 23 rally near
- 7:52you. Now as it stands, they currently
- 7:55have one in Alabama, one in Alaska, one in Arizona.
- 8:00Arkansas needs to step it up. There aren't any in Arkansas
- 8:03yet. There are three in California,
- 8:06two in Colorado. Connecticut's got to step it up.
- 8:10Delaware's got 19 in Florida, 74 Idaho, 3 in Illinois, 4 in
- 8:19Indiana, one in Iowa, one in Kansas, 2 in Kentucky, one in
- 8:25Louisiana. None listed in Maine yet. 3 in
- 8:29Maryland. None in Massachusetts yet. 4 in
- 8:34Michigan. One in Minnesota, One in
- 8:37Mississippi, 5 in Missouri. None in Montana, 3 in Nebraska,
- 8:44None in Nevada. None in New Hampshire. 3 in New
- 8:48Jersey. None in New Mexico. 9 in New
- 8:52York, 7 in North Carolina, 2 in North Dakota, 4IN Ohio, One in
- 8:59Oklahoma, 2 in Oregon, 3 in Pennsylvania, none listed in
- 9:04Rhode Island, 2 in South Carolina, one in South Dakota, 2
- 9:09in Tennessee, 7 in Texas, one in Utah, none in Vermont, 2 in
- 9:16Virginia, 3 in Washington, 3 in West Virginia, 4 in Wisconsin,
- 9:22one in Wyoming, one in Puerto Rico, and none currently
- 9:26scheduled in DC. That gets updated regularly, so
- 9:32make sure you go on nalc.org under the news.
- 9:38It's the fight like hell rally. Now, Ori Walton said it best go
- 9:43to buy a house. There's a Creek that's running
- 9:46behind it. You're on a floodplain, but it
- 9:49hasn't flooded in over 230 years.
- 9:52But the insurance is free. Hell, take the insurance.
- 9:55It's free. This is free insurance.
- 9:59Whether or not anything's happening, whether you believe
- 10:03in it or you don't believe in it, it doesn't matter.
- 10:06Putting it out there that we are important, we matter.
- 10:10We need to be in front of the news and say city carriers,
- 10:14rural carriers, clerks, ale handlers, we're all in this
- 10:19together. I say it all the time.
- 10:20We're all in this together and it's important for us to stand
- 10:24together in unity on them because if anything happens, we
- 10:29already have the insurance. You're being proactive instead
- 10:34of reactive. It's very important that we step
- 10:38up as carriers, not just as the union national board members or
- 10:44state board members, but boots on the ground carriers, stepping
- 10:49up and fighting for this craft and this organization.
- 10:54Your guys's thoughts? I, I just checked Pennsylvania
- 10:58and I'm a little surprised that the three largest cities in
- 11:02Pennsylvania aren't having any rallies whatsoever.
- 11:05It's Allentown, Erie and Hunstown.
- 11:07Where where's Philly, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg.
- 11:10I, I, am I missing something here?
- 11:12Folks that you know, it's like you said, free insurance.
- 11:14Step up, confess something to you, both of you and, and to the
- 11:18listening audience, because I'm not one to, to, to be a, a
- 11:22Debbie Downer. And, and it takes a lot from
- 11:25the, you know, to discourage me from pursuing, you know what I,
- 11:29I feel, you know, in my heart and soul.
- 11:32But you know, you scan all these Facebook pages and you see all
- 11:36these questions and, and I realized maybe a lot of new
- 11:40people, they may be a lot of uninformed people, but how the
- 11:43hell with all the resources that we have, all the platforms that
- 11:46are available to rural carriers, OK, including people in your own
- 11:52damn office, how do you not know simple things?
- 11:56And, and I realize that what we try to do, try to educate them
- 12:00and inform them on, you know, how procedures work, how
- 12:03grievance, how to file grievance, the EEO, you know, a
- 12:061767 week. And, and trust me, there's
- 12:09nobody who's a bigger advocate for trying to understand your
- 12:13paycheck. That is the one of the greatest
- 12:15mysteries of all times. If you're a new carrier, why?
- 12:20Why don't people spend the time and invest the time insurance?
- 12:25James OK, this is all free. This is information you can
- 12:29utilize to protect yourself and your paycheck.
- 12:31Why can't you spend 10 minutes a night, an hour a week going
- 12:36through all the manuals, the contracts, the Constitution, the
- 12:41Elm to protect yourself? Who has a greater interest in
- 12:45your success in the post office then you?
- 12:48It's this it, it really is disheartening that that people
- 12:52come up and and they're asking questions.
- 12:55You say, Oh my God, didn't you learn that in, in your Academy
- 12:59training? Now I know there's not a lot of
- 13:01people out there that can handle a foreign customs posting to do
- 13:06when you sit there and, and, and put up there.
- 13:09I have a, a box holder that says WSH do I put that in my
- 13:14scanners? If it's WSH, it's not a box
- 13:18holder period. Well, I heard we used to get
- 13:20credit for that. We have a carrier in our SDNC 30
- 13:24year carrier, other office of Phoenixville and two too many
- 13:30mail surveys ago, he questioned one of our carriers is why they
- 13:34were getting a wheel around the office.
- 13:37He explained that you have to measure the distances to your
- 13:39your primary hamper as well, the bullpen area.
- 13:42Back to your case. We've been here three years.
- 13:44They've never done that. This is a 30 year carrier.
- 13:48I I, I don't know. I don't know what to say.
- 13:50I, you know, what does it take to wake you up to protect your
- 13:53paycheck? I mean, we can do what we do,
- 13:56for God's sakes. I mean, we, we've been on this,
- 13:59you know, for almost 2 years now and it's over.
- 14:02What the hell? Yeah, What the hell?
- 14:05All I, all I saw was 14. But the thing of it is.
- 14:10Yeah. And I thought it was 14 months.
- 14:13But the thing that is that you know me, it, it, it bothers me
- 14:17that I'm still more involved in your well-being than you are,
- 14:22Bill. Let me ask you this, these
- 14:24rallies are for us to get together, join together and
- 14:27fight for the Postal Service and for the crafts.
- 14:31Now, the fight like hell rally that the city carriers are
- 14:34putting on is not only for keeping the Postal Service from
- 14:39being privatized, which is the biggest thing they're pushing
- 14:41right now, but it's also for them to fight for a better
- 14:44arbitration case, even though they're going through the
- 14:47expedited arbitration process, which is a pain in the butt as
- 14:50it is. But really it's about protecting
- 14:54our future in this craft by doing these rallies.
- 14:59How important is it for our brothers and sisters of this
- 15:02craft to step up, step out and get into involved in these
- 15:07rallies? Let's see, do y'all work in the
- 15:10same post office that you do that we that I used to?
- 15:14Are you, are you involved in the same US, United States Postal
- 15:17Service? Is it in your interest to step
- 15:21up and bring it to the public's attention?
- 15:22What's going on? I mean, it just is lightfully
- 15:27ignorant people are in regards to the contract and everything.
- 15:30Don't you think there's a lot of aspects of the public that don't
- 15:34realize what's going on? I mean, my wife and I, we have
- 15:37not had a, a cable service per SE for eight years.
- 15:43We, we, we do streaming services.
- 15:45We only watch the local news on the streaming service for, you
- 15:49know, you know, little events in the weather and that's it.
- 15:52Otherwise, we don't watch the news whatsoever.
- 15:56She does enjoy her Newsmax. But you know, I try to avoid
- 16:00that one too, because if you know, they, they both, both
- 16:03sides of the fence tilt towards themselves and I and I can't
- 16:06stand that. But the fact of the matter is
- 16:09that your, your livelihood is tied in with the clerks, with
- 16:12the carriers, with the, with the custodians, you know, with
- 16:17everybody employed by the post office.
- 16:19You're 1 big happy family. Yes, I'm the degenerate half
- 16:23breed brother-in-law, but you know we're still family.
- 16:26If you don't step up for if you don't step up for each other,
- 16:30who the Hell's going to I you know I can get to the Allentown
- 16:33one it it's about an hour and 10 minutes away.
- 16:36You know no big deal. I'm retired.
- 16:37I can go there and and you know I can wear one of my naughty
- 16:41postal T-shirts up there. But the thing of it is that you
- 16:44know how many others are going to give up anytime to
- 16:47participate in this rally? Is it worth it?
- 16:49Well, if you can't spend 10 minutes a day or, you know, half
- 16:53an hour a week looking through your contract, yes, this
- 16:56wouldn't be worth your time either Be able to, you know, get
- 16:59your face out on it and say, oh, the neighbor goes, oh, Bill, I I
- 17:03saw you up at the postal rally. Is it really that bad?
- 17:06Well, then you can talk to them. Then you can get their support.
- 17:09Spread the word. I don't mean Thunderbird.
- 17:13How are you, Kristen? Your thoughts?
- 17:15What you think our carrier should do?
- 17:17Yeah, because it doesn't matter. Somehow mad this actually makes
- 17:22makes me in regards to pride trying to privatize the post
- 17:25office. I now drive around with a dozen
- 17:28eggs in my car and every Tesla I see I egg Tesla get it doge and
- 17:37if I'm if I'm willing to waste the the cost of an egg.
- 17:41Oh, speaking on that issue, it doesn't matter if they can or
- 17:48can't privatize us. It doesn't matter if they're
- 17:52going to or not going to do anything with us.
- 17:55They're going to put us under the commas department or if
- 17:57they're going to move us over into the Secretary of Defense
- 18:00cabinet. It doesn't matter.
- 18:02The most important aspect of this is just getting out there
- 18:06and getting our voices heard, getting our strength being is
- 18:12standing up for our careers are craft.
- 18:17Our brothers and sisters who work side by side with us,
- 18:21whether it be a city carrier or a janitor or a clerk or a mail
- 18:26handler. Especially those guys that are
- 18:28in SCDC's that now work side by side with mail handlers, IT and
- 18:32even supervisors and your postmasters to be coming to
- 18:36these rallies too. Because guess what?
- 18:39It's all about the Postal Service and protecting what we
- 18:44I'm not saying what we have is great and grand and all this
- 18:47stuff. I'm running for the president of
- 18:49the NRLCA. Everything was great and grand.
- 18:52I wouldn't have to run, but we're talking about just making
- 18:56sure we have endurance that's free, easy to do.
- 19:01Yes, it cost us a little gas money and a little time out of
- 19:04our day, but the benefits outweigh anything else.
- 19:09It's. It's getting the message out
- 19:10there and that's the important part people talk about.
- 19:14How our national board doesn't let anything out, doesn't talk
- 19:17to the media about much of anything.
- 19:19Maybe it's time for us as boots on the ground craft, be out
- 19:24there and telling them what's going on with us being out there
- 19:27on the picket lines. Speaking of the atrocities that
- 19:32management is doing to us, from the falsified heat illness
- 19:36prevention training to working us beyond 12 hours FLSA, to
- 19:43micromanaging us down to the minute on stationary events.
- 19:46Even if we are actually working the emergency placement of
- 19:52carriers, punishing carriers before you discipline them.
- 19:56All that stuff could be put into the spotlight at these rallies
- 20:00if people step up to them. Because each person coming to a
- 20:04rally will be bringing their own issues, too.
- 20:07Yeah. One that you are germane to you
- 20:09or me or Kristen. But, you know, to them, Yeah,
- 20:11depending on what their office is, maybe they're coming from a,
- 20:14a little podunk office where, you know, it, it's a family
- 20:18affair. And somebody's getting a
- 20:20parental disparity in regards to how the routes are covered and
- 20:25what days they get off and everything else to a, a large SD
- 20:28and C where all politic that it's all, you know, on under the
- 20:32gun. You know, this is the way that
- 20:34you know there's no other way. Well, folks, you know that I
- 20:37hate to tell you that's not the way the rule craft ever worked
- 20:40in its life before. Some people case their DPS, some
- 20:43people don't. Some people, you know, work
- 20:45their flats into their DPS. Some people don't.
- 20:48They they, you know, two tier system.
- 20:52It's it's amazing. Some some people mark their
- 20:55their parcels, you know, with parcel markers other than
- 20:57remember them. Some write a list.
- 20:59Now I, I thought I caught one guy writing a list down and
- 21:03halfway through the route the list went out the window and he
- 21:05couldn't find it and he was screwed for the next three
- 21:07hours. But it doesn't matter.
- 21:10It's the way they do it. We have each our own individual
- 21:13habits that we're comfortable with and we do the job
- 21:17efficiently for the most part. I mean, you know, just like
- 21:20other any other industry, there are laggards is, for lack of a
- 21:25better word, in regards to performing the the service that
- 21:28they're entitled to. And it is an entitled position
- 21:32because we have really good jobs.
- 21:35We get to spend most of the day outdoors with customers, the
- 21:39kids, the animals, even when the weather's bad.
- 21:42Sometimes it it's, it's one of the best jobs I've ever had in
- 21:45my life. But the fact of the matter is it
- 21:47is it is what it is what you make out of it.
- 21:50The gentleman on my route now he's he's not very happy because
- 21:54of the fact he's not Bill May and you will never measure up
- 21:57the Bill May and and the way I perform my job and the service I
- 22:00provided. Worry about it.
- 22:02Do it. Do the job to the best of your
- 22:04ability. Get it done, get it done
- 22:06efficiently, get it done safely and go home to your family
- 22:09because why, James, you're the most important delivery of the
- 22:13day. Her dad.
- 22:14Enough this weekend. Like I said, I saw, I saw that
- 22:19little thing. I put it up there.
- 22:20It's like, wow, if, if they only would have finished that
- 22:24statement. You know, you're the most
- 22:26important delivery day every day.
- 22:29Oh, when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor, I can't believe
- 22:31that one. He was on a roll.
- 22:34Let him go. Let him.
- 22:38I've got a couple more things, but you know, I'm trying to hold
- 22:42back a little bit, little bit. Just to remind everybody, March
- 22:4723rd, they're listed on the NALC website.
- 22:51If your area is not having one, step up and put one together.
- 22:57Talk with city carriers in your area.
- 22:59Talk with your world brothers and sisters.
- 23:01Figure out a way to do it because this is going to be a
- 23:05nationwide thing. As I read, there's already over
- 23:08100 of them already scheduled for March 23rd.
- 23:12I want to see it everywhere, want to see rural carriers out
- 23:16there with them wearing NRLCA Protect Letter Carriers T-shirts
- 23:21that we got from the rallies we held, or the rural letter
- 23:26carrier stuff that you bought from the pack table at one of
- 23:28the conventions or something. Or just build a sign that says
- 23:32Protect Rural Letter Carrier. It's a little poster board now.
- 23:37Joann Fabrics is going out of business but maybe you can still
- 23:39get poster board there. Michaels or Hobby Lobby.
- 23:45Hobby Lobby. Worst case scenario, go get a
- 23:48get 1/4 inch sheet of plywood from Lowe's or Home Depot or
- 23:53Menards I'll. Go to Kensington Ave. in Philly
- 23:57and I'll steal the cardboard box somebody's living in and use
- 24:00that. Did I say that out loud?
- 24:03Unfortunately. And I meant it whether it's
- 24:11getting. That's what I have.
- 24:15What do you have, Kristen? For every state, every state, we
- 24:20need fresh people. Every state needs fresh people
- 24:23showing up. Every state needs people coming
- 24:26in and asking questions, getting involved and even sometimes
- 24:31pushing the envelope a little bit to get people to open up and
- 24:35talk about things and get the answers out there to the crack
- 24:40and. And as much as we do in our
- 24:42local providing food from either like Wawa or even Olive Garden,
- 24:47we failed to provide a quorum for our last meeting.
- 24:51Ridiculous of that out of 200 people.
- 24:54And, and then one of one of the regulars, and he's a steward,
- 24:57too, turned around and called me just before the mailing went out
- 25:01because the meeting was on the 12th.
- 25:02And I had him out like the 25th of January.
- 25:06He called me up and said, when's our next meeting?
- 25:09And I told him February 12th, you know, regular place, food
- 25:12provided. So, you know, February 12th
- 25:16comes and goes and he doesn't show up.
- 25:17And it's like, OK, that's a usual.
- 25:19Excuse me. Called me three days later.
- 25:22Did I miss the meeting, Bill? Yeah.
- 25:23This this is the funny part. OK.
- 25:26It's the meeting. Yeah.
- 25:27I did. I I you did.
- 25:28I was surprised you missed it. He goes, yeah, I marked it on
- 25:30the calendar for some reason, you know, I didn't know where.
- 25:34What time called me to ask if you missed the meeting that you
- 25:37marked on the calendar for the 12th?
- 25:39This is the 15th. Where have we had it for the
- 25:42last two years? At what time?
- 25:47Speaking of meetings, Speaking of meetings, for Michigan at
- 25:52least April is the time where we have all our local meetings or
- 25:59resolutions and state convention.
- 26:01This is the time for you to get your resolutions into your
- 26:05locals before your state convention.
- 26:08If you don't have locals and it just goes straight to state,
- 26:11it's different. But a lot of places you have to
- 26:13go through your local 1st. And we did go over resolutions a
- 26:18few episodes ago. We went over them over a year
- 26:20ago too. And now is the time to put them
- 26:23together. Now is the time to put them
- 26:25together. Now is the time to step up, make
- 26:28the changes you want to see happen to this craft because
- 26:32without you, E Kristen Bill, everybody here, this union
- 26:38doesn't exist. Even the people that don't pay
- 26:40dues are a reason the union exists.
- 26:43Exactly. Fight for that, can you?
- 26:46Imagine that, Kristen, a format where if you paid some money
- 26:51that you had access to all those resources and you wouldn't have
- 26:56to sit there and listen to the bullshit and lies from
- 26:58management without the ability to prove them wrong.
- 27:02Imagine having on your on your phone, on your laptop.
- 27:06What? About the zip?
- 27:07What about the zip? What?
- 27:09Are you serious? Yes.
- 27:12Yes, it's let's see, there's the NRLCA website ruleinfo.net,
- 27:20there's United. We scam, a scam.
- 27:23And I said scam. That's scam.
- 27:28There's something. Yeah.
- 27:30I wish I'd be rich by now. There's been so many platforms
- 27:35out there that you know you can make available to yourself, and
- 27:39it's like, wow, it's right at my fingertips.
- 27:42But you'll sit there and tick tock your ass away, won't you?
- 27:45Hey. Bill no, I'm.
- 27:47I'm surprised. During the course of the week,
- 27:50even when I I was working, I never answered you guys unless
- 27:53you've called me on the phone, right, Kristen?
- 27:55If you text me during my day, I I didn't answer you OK, but I, I
- 28:01think I'm yes, but the thing of it is I can sit there and and
- 28:06prop my phone up on the on the dash of the LLV and just watch
- 28:10the carriers from my office. Bing, Bing, Bing, Bing and even
- 28:15some people on you know, United, we scan, you know, the listener
- 28:18chat. Ding Ding.
- 28:20It's like, you know, now I understand.
- 28:22I can't text like you all do, OK?
- 28:24I'm like the two finger typewriter guy, OK?
- 28:27And how the hell you put a paragraph and a half out in
- 28:29three seconds? Ellen.
- 28:32Hey, Bill. Bill, you called.
- 28:34You called us united. We scam.
- 28:36You do realize we've been trying to reach you about your car's
- 28:39extended warranty? I I did get, I did get one of
- 28:45those fictitious emails for my EZ pass.
- 28:50I was a little suspiciouswhenisawtheguysname@gmail.com.
- 28:53I'm like, OK, I don't think that's real.
- 28:57Oh don't worry, now that they know that you're going to get
- 28:59the text for the package sitting at the warehouse be delivered by
- 29:03USPS. Thank you.
- 29:04Yes, yes, talk my ass away. Oh, my God.
- 29:10Well, we got the Eastern Eastern greats coming up.
- 29:13Yeah. I've got the, you know, Maryland
- 29:16and the Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania State Police
- 29:19watching out for him. I've got him on the undocumented
- 29:22immigrant list giving a description of his pickup truck.
- 29:29I just just look for the the pickup truck with all the
- 29:32weather satellite antennas on his on the top of the vehicle.
- 29:36Yeah. You got to save up those X days.
- 29:39Yeah, going to Italy here. Here's the question.
- 29:43Yeah, somebody. Somebody said how real is that
- 29:464% pay cut we're supposed to take?
- 29:48Has anyone heard this? This is one of my favorite ones
- 29:51on on, on the Facebook platforms.
- 29:53All the platforms out there about.
- 29:55Don't worry about it. It's only 6%.
- 29:58Hey, top of the pay scale, you're almost $100,000.
- 30:03That's step 12 for Table 1, correct?
- 30:05Yeah. Hello.
- 30:08So let let me ask you, Kristen, are you going to give me $6000
- 30:12and it's not going to affect you, OK, James, how about you?
- 30:16You got $6000 you can give me because you don't care about
- 30:18them. An e-mail survey doesn't affect
- 30:20your pay. I.
- 30:21Could barely afford to go to all these conferences.
- 30:24You think I have $6000 to give up?
- 30:26OK, I'll make it easier on you. OK.
- 30:28Your table too. You're only making $50,000.
- 30:31Six percent is only $3000. OK, It's half.
- 30:34Can you give me $3000? Yeah.
- 30:37And can you give you 300? You know, shut the hell up about
- 30:41this bullshit that the mini mail survey doesn't matter. 6% is 6%.
- 30:48I have a fit when I have to pay a $3 surcharge on an ATM fee.
- 30:54ATM bank doesn't charge me, but my bank charges me because I use
- 30:59an outside unit for withdrawal and I scream at them.
- 31:03I said yeah, how much money? It doesn't matter.
- 31:05It's automatic 3 hours. So when my wife goes, it takes
- 31:11$20 out and it cost her $3 to get 20 of her own dollars out.
- 31:16How much does that represent? 15 percent, 15% charge on that
- 31:20money? No way.
- 31:23Oh yeah? Well, let.
- 31:25Me put it to you this way, on a 40 hour work week, you're
- 31:30looking at a total 144 minutes, which is 2 1/2 hours, Yeah.
- 31:38That's like a lot of time. It's like a step and a half up,
- 31:41maybe even 2, two steps, really, really close to two steps up.
- 31:45Let's see, 2 steps. What's that dollar wise, James?
- 31:50Two steps is almost a couple grand.
- 31:54Should be. Close to 28 to 32 I believe.
- 31:57Thing what table you're on. Damn.
- 31:59Now would you rather have that pay me 6000?
- 32:02Would you rather get money or give it?
- 32:05Yeah, yeah. Would you rather put it in your
- 32:08wallet or give it back to the post office?
- 32:10Would you like? To give it to somebody or get it
- 32:12from somebody on. That note or chase.
- 32:17You see his face. It's like what?
- 32:22On that note. I like, I like.
- 32:25I like the video. Somebody's all wound up.
- 32:32I'm not it. It's it's coffee coffee that's
- 32:35the problem. Within the coffee.
- 32:37That's the problem, OK. I just said it's not a
- 32:41Starbucks, is it? OK, we.
- 32:44Already are I'm. Retired.
- 32:46Nothing's good. No, no, I'm retired.
- 32:50Nothing can be that I say or do can be used against me in the
- 32:53court of law. That's my effing line.
- 32:56You've. Got a lot of editing to do
- 32:58tonight, Kristen. OK, it's a very good.
- 33:04Spot. The rest is.
- 33:06Good. It is very important to get
- 33:10involved one way or another, whether, as Bill said, getting
- 33:14yourself even more educated. You're already educating
- 33:17yourself by listening to our podcast and studying what we
- 33:21talked about, and now we have the opportunity to ensure that
- 33:26the public knows something's going on.
- 33:29It has the ability to step up and protect us.
- 33:32That's the biggest thing. We want publicity to protect the
- 33:37Postal Service. We are the most trusted
- 33:40organization country. Even with all the problems that
- 33:44people have with mail delivery, especially packages that are
- 33:48mislabeled to be delivered to the wrong house with the barcode
- 33:52delivered to another address. Protect yourself by ensuring you
- 33:56do the right things, whether it's learning, going to one of
- 34:00these rallies, or even just stepping up and helping your
- 34:05fellow brothers and sisters in the office.
- 34:07It's important to protect yourself, your craft, your
- 34:11career, especially in this day and age, whether any of the
- 34:16rumors are true or not, because it's better to be proactive and
- 34:22it is to be reactive. When you go out to these
- 34:25rallies, remember you're there or your craft.
- 34:28You're there for yourself, but you're also there for your
- 34:31brothers and sisters because at the end of the day, we're all in
- 34:35this together, Bill. Thank you, James, I say about
- 34:39what I said in regards to people learning about protecting their
- 34:43paycheck, protecting their jobs, protecting themselves.
- 34:47Like I said, it's disheartening that you know, I put this effort
- 34:50in. Kristen James, you know a ton of
- 34:53people who participate in this platform to help people.
- 34:57And as hard as we try to be, you know, the the shining knight in
- 35:02armor to help you and protect you, you have to take the first
- 35:07step, OK? It's incumbent upon you to put
- 35:11forth the effort to protect yourself.
- 35:13Nobody and and nobody in the national steward system, whether
- 35:16it be a local, a area ADR, what they're not going to be able to
- 35:20help you unless they know about it.
- 35:22And that requires you to step up, to speak out, become
- 35:26involved, not don't have to become involved in you, but
- 35:29becoming involved in the contract, be involved in regards
- 35:34to the management of Labor management, labor relationship
- 35:38that is established. And don't let them walk all over
- 35:42you. I mean, please, you know, like I
- 35:45said, it starts with you. We can only help you if you
- 35:48speak up like the little fob that I found on Facebook there
- 35:52that said that, you know, yeah, you're the most important
- 35:55delivery. Of course, that's my, you know,
- 35:57that saying that you're the most important delivery of the day,
- 36:02every day. And, and don't forget that.
- 36:04Be proficient, be professional, be safe, get home to your loved
- 36:09ones. And I don't care who, when the
- 36:12national state boards or anywhere else uses it.
- 36:16You know I mean it when I say you are the most important
- 36:19delivery of the day and get home to your loved ones because
- 36:22without you, it's not worth it. OK,
- 36:41keep that for the end.
