- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hey my friend, thanks for joining me for today's episode.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Well, I wrote the email that forms the basis for this podcast while I was sitting in the waiting area for a medical appointment a couple of days ago.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: And every time I'm in that medical office, it's always very interesting to me because I'm curious about people and I like to people watch a little bit because I'm curious about how people behave, especially when they're bored in a medical office or waiting in an airport or someplace like that.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: And so a couple of days ago, while I was sitting there, I was looking around at people and noticing that some people were just staring off into space, some people were watching TV, they were playing Reba McIntyre's old sitcom.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: They're always playing that when I'm in that medical office, which is funny.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Some people are staring at their phones, a couple of people are looking at magazines, but nobody seems to be doing really anything that's meaningful because they consider that to be wasted time.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: And I was actually the only one that was writing.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: So I pop out my laptop and I'm literally writing this email that forms the basis for what I'm saying right now.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: And of course, there's nothing wrong with looking at your phone or staring off into space or watching Reba reruns on the waiting room area TV.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Nothing wrong with any of that, of course.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: And to be truthful, sometimes I'm not writing.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: I'm reading a book, or there are those moments, of course, where I'm staring off into space myself or check an email on my phone or whatever it might be.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: But more often than not, I'm trying to get something productive done while I'm in a waiting area or when I just have some downtime, either before an appointment or a meeting or whatever the case might be.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Now, would I rather be in my comfortable quiet office?
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Well, of course I would be, because I have my nice, very, very comfortable gaming chair that I sit in.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Not that I'm playing games, but I love gaming chairs because they're really comfortable.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Would I rather be at my own desk with my own music playing and all that?
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Of course I would be.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: But that didn't happen to be where I was a couple of days ago when I was working on this email.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: And the truth is that we spend so much of our lives waiting to get somewhere else rather than where we actually are.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: But the truth is that when you're in those moments, you're not where you want to be, you are where you are.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: And right here, right now, wherever you are right now, in this moment, this is the place where you can write.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: It's a place where you can dream and you can plan and you can move the needle on your life, even if it's just a little bit.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Doesn't mean that moment's going to be perfect.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: And it doesn't mean you're in that place where you're optimized and comfortable and you're sitting in that special chair, or you have the exact type of quiet that you would like.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: It doesn't mean any of those things, but it does mean that wherever you are in that moment, and that moment can be right now, you can do some writing and you can do some productive work and you can move the needle on the things that are important to you.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: So I just want today's podcast to be a little reminder that this moment, the one that you're enjoying right now, this moment does matter.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: So make it count.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: The perfect moment to create, to write, to dream, to plan.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: The perfect moment for those things is the one that you're living in right now at this very moment.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: That's it for today, and I'll see you next time.
