- 0:00Speaker 1: Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
- 0:04Speaker 1: one Wash Up.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Out, Well, good morning and welcome to Tuesday, the eleventh
- 0:08Speaker 2: day of August, in the nation's capital. It's ninety seven
- 0:11Speaker 2: point one wash at m Toby at Chili in the morning.
- 0:14Speaker 2: How you feel in this morning, Chili. The weather's been
- 0:17Speaker 2: a little interesting.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, at least you know, it's still warm.
- 0:21Speaker 3: I'll give it that. I can't wait for it to
- 0:22Speaker 3: get back to the eighties instead of the nineties. Right.
- 0:25Speaker 3: I'm doing well, Thanks for going okay, And my son
- 0:28Speaker 3: does not have camp this week or next week, oh bo,
- 0:33Speaker 3: so he's at home and I got to come up
- 0:35Speaker 3: with some stuff for us to do so that he's
- 0:38Speaker 3: not on that tablet all day.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I think a field trip downtown to the National Mall,
- 0:42Speaker 2: or maybe the Oodvar Hosey hangar out in Dulles might
- 0:46Speaker 2: be on the agenda. Those are both great places to
- 0:48Speaker 2: go to waste a few hours of time with something
- 0:51Speaker 2: to do to occupy the mind.
- 0:53Speaker 3: We'll see. How are you feeling good?
- 0:55Speaker 2: I'm great today. You know why because I drove myself
- 0:57Speaker 2: to work for the first time and I don't know
- 1:01Speaker 2: how long months, but yeah, it's been months, and you know,
- 1:05Speaker 2: I was a little bit worried that, you know, maybe
- 1:07Speaker 2: something would happen along the way this morning. But I
- 1:10Speaker 2: have appointments literally after the show, like right after the show,
- 1:14Speaker 2: just up the street that I need to be at.
- 1:16Speaker 2: And basically it takes the moving part of waiting on
- 1:19Speaker 2: a ride or counting on a ride out of the equation.
- 1:23Speaker 2: And so far, so good, knock on wood. Now the
- 1:28Speaker 2: things that I can't control, like the car, and maybe
- 1:31Speaker 2: something goes wrong with the car or it breaks down
- 1:35Speaker 2: or whatever. That's a different conversation for a different time, about.
- 1:38Speaker 3: To drive yourself with the role later and all the
- 1:41Speaker 3: other things. And so does this mean you'll keep driving
- 1:43Speaker 3: yourself to work?
- 1:44Speaker 2: I think so it depends on how I continue to feel.
- 1:48Speaker 2: If there's a morning where I'm really like in pain
- 1:50Speaker 2: in my knee, then maybe not, because I just worry.
- 1:53Speaker 2: And trust me, when you've been through the kind of
- 1:56Speaker 2: hades I've been through, you worry a lot. But you
- 1:58Speaker 2: know what, little winds. Parking yourself at the office, driving
- 2:04Speaker 2: yourself to work, these things are things we get to
- 2:08Speaker 2: do that not everybody else gets to do. And when
- 2:11Speaker 2: you haven't been able to do it for a while.
- 2:13Speaker 2: You recognize that Toby and Chilly in the morning, while
- 2:15Speaker 2: you feel a good give us a call. Let us
- 2:17Speaker 2: know eight six six seven forty three sixty one. The
- 2:20Speaker 2: news is on the way. What's going on this morning?

- 2:29Speaker 3: in just a few.

- 2:35Speaker 3: The President signed an executive order yesterday targeting childhood vaccine schedules,
- 2:40Speaker 3: splitting the combined measles mump's rebella shot into three separate vaccines,
- 2:46Speaker 3: and it would also require childhood immunizations to be given
- 2:50Speaker 3: at separate visits instead of together. Meanwhile, Todd blanche, the
- 2:54Speaker 3: President's former personal attorney, was sworn in as attorney generally yesterday.
- 3:00Speaker 3: The Senate confirmed him Saturday after weeks of debate. Today
- 3:04Speaker 3: marks the first anniversary of the deployment of the National
- 3:06Speaker 3: Guard troops and a surge of federal law enforcement officers
- 3:11Speaker 3: on the streets of DC. The administration touts more than
- 3:14Speaker 3: sixteen thousand arrests, more than three thousand narcotics busts, and
- 3:18Speaker 3: nearly two thousand guns seized. Remember northbound GW Parkway close
- 3:24Speaker 3: between Spout Run Parkway and one twenty three. Starting this
- 3:28Speaker 3: week for tree pruning, you can expect closures Monday through
- 3:32Speaker 3: Thursday between nine thirty and two thirty over the next
- 3:35Speaker 3: several weeks. Maryland officials say that they're confident, but not
- 3:39Speaker 3: yet certain that Hunting Creek Lake at Cunningham Falls State
- 3:43Speaker 3: Park in Maryland is safe to reopen after two rabid
- 3:47Speaker 3: beaver attacks, So they're still surveying the area and they
- 3:51Speaker 3: do not have a target reopening date. And researchers say
- 3:55Speaker 3: that babies who grow up with a dog in the
- 3:57Speaker 3: house get exposed to very helpful microbes that cut their
- 4:01Speaker 3: risk of fevers and ear infections. Actually, one study also
- 4:04Speaker 3: found that toddlers with pups we're nearly thirty percent less
- 4:09Speaker 3: likely to have behavioral problems. Forecast today partly sunny skies,
- 4:14Speaker 3: we do have a chance of storms again today. Highs
- 4:16Speaker 3: around ninety right now seventy in Bethesda.

- 5:04Speaker 2: She used to be kind of a big deal over
- 5:06Speaker 2: at Meta and Facebook, but what she says here is
- 5:10Speaker 2: really really true when you think about it. In life,
- 5:12Speaker 2: if you're offered a seat on a rocket ship, don't
- 5:15Speaker 2: ask what seat, just get on. If you're offered a
- 5:18Speaker 2: seat on a rocket ship, don't ask what seat, just
- 5:22Speaker 2: get on why Because the biggest opportunities in life they
- 5:27Speaker 2: arrive before any of us are completely ready. Say yes first,
- 5:32Speaker 2: grow into the moment. Sometimes you have to. If you're
- 5:37Speaker 2: offered a seat on a rocket ship, don't ask what seat,
- 5:41Speaker 2: Just get on some cases. Hang on Cheryl Sandberg. It's

- 6:10Speaker 3: like some of you have answered the call with a call,
- 6:13Speaker 3: and we'll get to those in minutes.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Really, we're good morning, Toby and Tilly in the morning.

- 6:31Speaker 3: good news, or actually not our good news so much
- 6:33Speaker 3: as what's making a smile, and we ask you to
- 6:35Speaker 3: do the same. And it looks like a couple of
- 6:37Speaker 3: you want to share this morning.
- 6:40Speaker 2: We'll starting Alexandria. Tommy, you're feeling good today? Why a
- 6:44Speaker 2: year ago to today, I had my last drink.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Good for you any particular reason you stopped?
- 6:51Speaker 2: I decided to give it up for health and money reasons,
- 6:54Speaker 2: and as of today, I have been completely dry for
- 6:57Speaker 2: a year. Well that's a milestone. And it's Oh, do
- 7:01Speaker 2: you have any tips to pass on? I'd say do it.
- 7:03Speaker 2: It's not I mean, it's not easy, but it's also
- 7:06Speaker 2: not as hard as I thought it was going to be.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Well, thank you so much for sharing that, and keep
- 7:10Speaker 3: up the great work.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I will. Thanks for the call this morning, Tommy and Damascus, Matt,
- 7:15Speaker 2: why are you feeling good this morning?
- 7:18Speaker 1: So?
- 7:18Speaker 5: I had my nephew who's maybe like four years old,
- 7:21Speaker 5: come over to my house the other day and I
- 7:24Speaker 5: haven't ever got to spend time with him, and we
- 7:26Speaker 5: had a great time. And I was teaching him how
- 7:27Speaker 5: to throw punches through boxing and he's trying to get
- 7:30Speaker 5: the hang of it.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Yeah. Nothing says bonding like that, right hook right on
- 7:34Speaker 3: your nose.
- 7:35Speaker 2: That's right chilly, Train up that child.
- 7:38Speaker 5: So I think we'll get to continue that next time
- 7:40Speaker 5: we hang out.

- 7:44Speaker 2: call this morning, Matt. Now, Rachel, and tell me you're
- 7:47Speaker 2: feeling good this morning.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Why my back to school shopping is done.
- 7:51Speaker 3: I bet that's a relief, specially if you have more
- 7:54Speaker 3: than one child.
- 7:55Speaker 4: It was exhausting.
- 7:57Speaker 3: But yeah, I've got kids and everybody's grown, so we
- 8:02Speaker 3: had to get all new stuff. But I think we're
- 8:04Speaker 3: good now.
- 8:05Speaker 2: I was the oldest of four boys in my family.
- 8:07Speaker 2: We did a lot of hand me down stuff when
- 8:09Speaker 2: it came to back to school time.
- 8:11Speaker 6: Oh yeah, no, we did.
- 8:12Speaker 3: I mean, we definitely tapped into the older cousins.
- 8:15Speaker 2: We've we've got a bunch of hand me downs in
- 8:18Speaker 2: the mix.
- 8:18Speaker 5: But we had to buy some new stuff.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Well, congrats to you, and hopefully you won't have to
- 8:22Speaker 3: worry about buying anything new for quite some time.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Amen.
- 8:25Speaker 6: Thank you very much.

- 8:47Speaker 2: Coming up, back to school season is here. You're doing
- 8:50Speaker 2: back to school shopping and teachers across the DMV are
- 8:53Speaker 2: doing the same shopping only what they need for the classroom.
- 8:58Speaker 2: The costs are coming out of their own post. It's
- 9:00Speaker 2: ninety seven point one WASHFM Toby and Chilly in the Morning.

- 9:17Speaker 3: much needed classroom supplies.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Ninety seven point one WASHFM, Washington, an iHeartRadio station.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Coming up on Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
- 9:27Speaker 3: The President signed an executive order yesterday targeting childhood vaccine schedules.
- 9:33Speaker 3: We've got the latest on that story and others on
- 9:36Speaker 3: the way with Toby and Chilly in the Morning. Ninety
- 9:39Speaker 3: seven point one WASHFM.
- 9:43Speaker 4: Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
- 9:45Speaker 3: The President signed an executive order yesterday that would split
- 9:49Speaker 3: the childhood MMR vaccine into three separate shots, and it
- 9:53Speaker 3: would also push for childhood immunization to be given at
- 9:58Speaker 3: separate visits instead of all it ones. Meanwhile, the President
- 10:02Speaker 3: now has a new attorney general. The Senate confirmed Todd
- 10:05Speaker 3: Blanche in a narrow vote over the weekend, and he
- 10:08Speaker 3: was sworn in yesterday. The FAA is going to be
- 10:12Speaker 3: pausing all flights at Reagan National Airport for three hours
- 10:16Speaker 3: on August twenty third, and that is to support the
- 10:19Speaker 3: freedom to fifty Grand Prix flights are going to be
- 10:21Speaker 3: grounded from ten to fifteen to about one to fifteen,
- 10:24Speaker 3: although FAA says that timing could change more than fifty.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Prince George's County businesses liquor, tobacco, gun and storage stores
- 10:34Speaker 3: are now suing the county over a new five thousand
- 10:37Speaker 3: dollars annual fee, calling it any legal tax. The county
- 10:41Speaker 3: executive let the law take effect without her signature. Fairfax
- 10:46Speaker 3: County Police launched the round three of their road Shark campaign,
- 10:51Speaker 3: cracking down on speeding, red light running, DUIs, and also
- 10:54Speaker 3: unsafe lane changes. The first two rounds handed out more
- 10:58Speaker 3: than twenty five citations and warnings, and this round will
- 11:03Speaker 3: run through Sunday, with a fourth to one planned for October.
- 11:07Speaker 3: And Finally, DC ranks eighth on a new global list
- 11:11Speaker 3: of top solo travel destinations, praised for the museums here,
- 11:16Speaker 3: the monuments, and also being very walkable with transit friendly neighborhoods.
- 11:22Speaker 3: New York came in at number one, followed by San
- 11:25Speaker 3: Francisco and La forecast for today partly sunny skies. We
- 11:29Speaker 3: do have a chance of storms again today. Hi's around
- 11:32Speaker 3: ninety right now, seventy two in Poolsville.
- 11:35Speaker 2: That's the news top stories at the top of the hour,
- 11:37Speaker 2: it's ninety seven point one wash FM. We're next. If
- 11:40Speaker 2: you are a pet owner and you don't have pet insurance,
- 11:43Speaker 2: look in the mirror and ask yourself, why don't I
- 11:46Speaker 2: have pet insurance. There's a reason why it exists. It's
- 11:52Speaker 2: helped out people on this show. We will talk coming up.
- 11:56Speaker 2: I know that in these interesting economic times, we're all
- 12:00Speaker 2: looking to cut corners when we can, But you know what,
- 12:03Speaker 2: why would you cut corners on pet insurance, especially if
- 12:08Speaker 2: your pet is like a member of the family. It's
- 12:10Speaker 2: ninety seven point one WASHF them. We're Toby and Chilly
- 12:13Speaker 2: in the morning.
- 12:14Speaker 3: I learned with my last dog that pet insurance is
- 12:17Speaker 3: very important because as they get older, things happen, just
- 12:21Speaker 3: like with humans. They get sick or you ever had
- 12:24Speaker 3: an emergency and I'm so glad we did it again
- 12:26Speaker 3: this year.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Now.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Interestingly enough, yesterday I read in the news seventy six
- 12:30Speaker 3: percent of pet owners say they would go into debt
- 12:33Speaker 3: to save their animal's life, but only thirty percent or
- 12:36Speaker 3: twenty nine percent, have pet insurance. That's not a lot
- 12:38Speaker 3: of people. Our five year old labradoodle has a spine condition.
- 12:43Speaker 3: I don't know how else to put it. It's called
- 12:44Speaker 3: IVDD and she can easily herniate a disk in her back.
- 12:48Speaker 3: And so we found this out recently. And let me
- 12:50Speaker 3: just tell you, the pet insurance we have is covering
- 12:54Speaker 3: ninety percent of her treatment. If we didn't have this insurance,
- 13:00Speaker 3: we would be thousands of dollars in debt. I can't
- 13:04Speaker 3: even fathom the position that that would have put us in.
- 13:08Speaker 3: It is quite overwhelming.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Well, it would have blown me out of the water.
- 13:11Speaker 2: When a little Nova Luna came home. Is she broke
- 13:13Speaker 2: her paw because she thought she was able to jump
- 13:16Speaker 2: out of my arms. Yeah, and that was not a
- 13:20Speaker 2: cheap surgery at all. But thank the baby heesus for
- 13:24Speaker 2: pet insurance.
- 13:25Speaker 3: And I think it's important that you do this earlier
- 13:27Speaker 3: before any pre existing things happen. Oh, yeah, because an
- 13:31Speaker 3: insurance is very expensive. Speaking of insurance being expensive, I
- 13:34Speaker 3: will say this. We were paying I think around seventy
- 13:38Speaker 3: dollars a month for pet insurance even though it's paid
- 13:42Speaker 3: for itself. After this recent thing, we did get a
- 13:45Speaker 3: notice saying, well, you know now that your dog is aging,
- 13:49Speaker 3: it's gonna cost you one hundred dollars a month. So
- 13:52Speaker 3: they did jack it up, but still it is still
- 13:55Speaker 3: worth it because we've got a future now with this
- 13:57Speaker 3: back condition.
- 13:58Speaker 2: It's the way it is with anything that rhymes with insurance.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Get it anyway, It's ninety seven point one. WASHEFM or
- 14:05Speaker 2: Toby and Chilly in the morning hangout? Because in a
- 14:07Speaker 2: few did you know that twenty three percent of people
- 14:10Speaker 2: would like to be traded at work? You know, like
- 14:13Speaker 2: the Nats traded some people to get some other people,
- 14:17Speaker 2: or maybe the commanders are making some trades kind of
- 14:21Speaker 2: like that. We'll get into it in a few. Toby
- 14:24Speaker 2: and Chilly in the morning. It's ninety seven point one, WASHCHFM.
- 14:27Speaker 2: How would you like to be traded at work? You know,
- 14:30Speaker 2: like athletes get traded from team to team. How would
- 14:33Speaker 2: you feel about this at work? Twenty three percent of
- 14:35Speaker 2: people say that they would like to be traded at work.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Let's break it down, shall we.
- 14:40Speaker 3: I mean that, to me seems like a very drastic
- 14:43Speaker 3: thing to happen, because, like with athletes, first of all,
- 14:46Speaker 3: they make way more money than the average person's job. Fine,
- 14:50Speaker 3: but at a moment's notice, they are giving a phone
- 14:53Speaker 3: call and told pack up your stuff. You're now playing
- 14:56Speaker 3: for a different team.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Right.
- 14:57Speaker 3: So imagine if you're an accountant or a lawyer, or
- 15:00Speaker 3: any one of us, you get that same phone call. Okay,
- 15:03Speaker 3: by the way, you're working for a different companies starting tomorrow.
- 15:06Speaker 3: That seems very disruptive to me. So I would not
- 15:10Speaker 3: be part of that twenty three percent.
- 15:12Speaker 2: I don't find it disruptive. I think that i'd probably
- 15:15Speaker 2: embrace it because for me to get that call out
- 15:17Speaker 2: of trade would tell me exactly where the company that
- 15:20Speaker 2: I was working for thought of my future with the franchise.
- 15:24Speaker 2: So if they wanted to trade me, I don't know
- 15:26Speaker 2: that I would oppose it, of course, provided that they
- 15:30Speaker 2: met all of the same contractual obligations which currently exist,
- 15:34Speaker 2: and that's typically what happens.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Here's what doesn't surprise me about the findings. If younger
- 15:39Speaker 3: adults like the idea more than older adults because they're
- 15:43Speaker 3: less rooted in wherever they are right there may not
- 15:46Speaker 3: be as further along in their lives with the family
- 15:48Speaker 3: and the different branches of the family tree and where
- 15:52Speaker 3: they live. So you know, I get it, your daughter
- 15:55Speaker 3: doesn't even live here anymore. Why would you say in
- 15:57Speaker 3: the DMV, Toby, go ahead to another company you're traded
- 16:01Speaker 3: off to you.
- 16:02Speaker 2: There's that, But you know, like if you look at
- 16:03Speaker 2: like Juan Soto, I mean, that guy's been through two
- 16:06Speaker 2: different teams since he left the Nationals, guess he's probably
- 16:09Speaker 2: laughing all the way to the bank. So if there's
- 16:11Speaker 2: opportunity there and they're going to give you that fresh
- 16:13Speaker 2: set of eyes, maybe embrace it. So how do you
- 16:16Speaker 2: feel about the idea that twenty three percent of people
- 16:19Speaker 2: would like to be traded at work? Much like pro athletes?
- 16:22Speaker 2: Eight sixty six ninety two seven forty three sixty one
- 16:25Speaker 2: is the number. Talkbacks wide open too. If you're listening
- 16:27Speaker 2: on your iHeart app, just tap that red microphone and
- 16:30Speaker 2: speak your truth. It'll be fun to hear your thoughts.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Were Toby and Chilly in the morning, It's ninety seven
- 16:35Speaker 2: point one wash FM Top Stories at the top of
- 16:38Speaker 2: the hour on the way, Chilly, what's going on.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Researchers have developed a smartbrod that could reportedly catch early
- 16:45Speaker 3: breast cancer signs. Between screamings, I'll share all the fascinating
- 16:50Speaker 3: details in just a few minutes.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Good morning, It's ninety seven point one WASHFM. Toby and
- 16:55Speaker 2: Chilly in the Morning holding some tickets for you to
- 16:57Speaker 2: go to Wolf Trap and seem James Taylor and scene

- 18:15Speaker 3: the President told reporters that Iran should instead pay for
- 18:19Speaker 3: the people that it's killed over the past decades. A
- 18:23Speaker 3: new bill in Congress, called the Ride in Freedom Act,
- 18:27Speaker 3: would let DC motorcyclists ditch their helmets. Supporters call it
- 18:32Speaker 3: a matter of personal choice, but critics call it unsafe
- 18:35Speaker 3: and unserious, and it's now before the House Oversight Committee.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Maryland health officials are urging caution after a dead bat
- 18:43Speaker 3: found at Riverwalk Park in Frederick tested inconclusive for rabies,

- 19:16Speaker 3: It reportedly uses thermal sensors and AI to flag some
- 19:19Speaker 3: early breast cancer signs between mammograms. Now it's still in trials,
- 19:24Speaker 3: but researchers hope that it becomes an accessible supplemental screening tool.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Forecast today partly sunny skies. We do have a chance

- 20:49Speaker 4: has that name.
- 20:50Speaker 2: You've got the question for the tickets to go see
- 20:52Speaker 2: James Taylor at wolf Trap. Guess away, eggs, Abbot?
- 20:56Speaker 3: Do you have eggs every morning to help you have

- 21:01Speaker 4: Not every day, but occasionally.
- 21:03Speaker 2: How do you tolerate eggs? Because I just cannot stand
- 21:06Speaker 2: the taste, the odor, anything having to do with it.
- 21:09Speaker 4: I actually had a little pepper to him.
- 21:11Speaker 2: It tastes all better. Oh right on. Back in the
- 21:14Speaker 2: day when I was a kid, I would just drown
- 21:16Speaker 2: the eggs and catch up. I think that's part of
- 21:18Speaker 2: my problem.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Good day.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Never done that eggs.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Is the correct answer. Congratulations, You're going to go see
- 21:25Speaker 3: James Taylor at wolf Trap on September second.

- 21:52Speaker 2: to ten, be here so you don't miss another round
- 21:54Speaker 2: of your nearly impossible question. At ninety seven point one
- 21:57Speaker 2: wash FM.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Where next we're going to talk about back to school shopping.
- 22:01Speaker 3: What's the most unusual item you had to buy for
- 22:04Speaker 3: your child?
- 22:06Speaker 2: Eight six, six, nine two, seven forty three sixty one
- 22:09Speaker 2: is the number. It's back to school shopping season. Ninety
- 22:13Speaker 2: seven point one WASHFM. I guess last week was what
- 22:16Speaker 2: tax free shopping weekend? Virginia? Yeah, over the weekend and
- 22:20Speaker 2: Maryland's tax free week is coming up. It's a good
- 22:23Speaker 2: time to go shopping in Maryland for things that aren't
- 22:26Speaker 2: school supply related, if you want to save a little
- 22:28Speaker 2: bit of extra money. But I'm not actively saying to
- 22:32Speaker 2: throw caution to the wind. I am saying it is
- 22:35Speaker 2: back to school shopping and it can be a pain.
- 22:37Speaker 3: It is a pain, and I'll tell you why, because
- 22:40Speaker 3: for the first time, we have to purchase the back
- 22:43Speaker 3: to school supplies ourselves. In the past, we went through
- 22:47Speaker 3: the PTA. They would prepackage it. The PTA got to
- 22:51Speaker 3: have a percentage of it, and it took the to
- 22:53Speaker 3: do list off of the parents because they already put
- 22:56Speaker 3: it all boxed it up for you and you didn't
- 22:59Speaker 3: have to worry about it. But now that we're in
- 23:00Speaker 3: seventh grade, well that's changing.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Why did I don't understand why that changed?
- 23:06Speaker 3: What do you mean, Well, because I don't think they
- 23:08Speaker 3: don't provide it this year where he's going to school
- 23:10Speaker 3: next Yeah, they don't have that. We have to look
- 23:14Speaker 3: at the recommended list of supplies and do it the
- 23:17Speaker 3: old fashioned way, like a scavenger hunt, like when we
- 23:19Speaker 3: were kids.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Well, when we were kids, they used to put them
- 23:22Speaker 2: in bags at the grocery stores because the entire school
- 23:25Speaker 2: district had a standardized list of things you needed for
- 23:28Speaker 2: back to school when you were in Texas, Yeah, but
- 23:31Speaker 2: I don't know what was I mean, I don't know
- 23:33Speaker 2: what the case is like up here.
- 23:34Speaker 3: But yeah, in Fairfax County back in the day, so
- 23:37Speaker 3: to speak, no, we would have to go to the
- 23:39Speaker 3: kmarts or whatever stores and get the supplies ourselves.
- 23:43Speaker 2: I never really paid too much attention to when Kyla
- 23:46Speaker 2: needed back to school stuff. We just ended up going
- 23:48Speaker 2: to Target and she just threw things into the basket
- 23:51Speaker 2: and we just left. But you know what, it brings
- 23:54Speaker 2: up some interesting questions when it comes to this back
- 23:56Speaker 2: to school shopping because they'll put anything on those lists
- 23:58Speaker 2: of things you need, and.
- 23:59Speaker 3: There lies the thing, right, Sometimes there's some unusual items
- 24:03Speaker 3: in there. So we're curious about what is the weirdest
- 24:05Speaker 3: or craziest thing that you've actually seen on your child's
- 24:09Speaker 3: back to school shopping list.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Eight sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one
- 24:14Speaker 2: is the number? Call now, jump in, tell us all
- 24:17Speaker 2: about it. Don't hold anything back. If you're wondering why
- 24:20Speaker 2: your high school kid needs Plato we probably are too,
- 24:24Speaker 2: So let's talk about it in just a few But
- 24:26Speaker 2: in the meantime, Top stories at the top of the
- 24:29Speaker 2: hour coming up, Chili, What's going on next?
- 24:31Speaker 3: A new survey finds that nearly a third of Americans
- 24:34Speaker 3: admit to committing this crime. I'll tell you which one
- 24:38Speaker 3: it is in just a few minutes.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Vegas would be the getaway that would just be perfect
- 24:43Speaker 2: for you. Are iHeartRadio Music Festival presented by Capitol One
- 24:47Speaker 2: back in just about a month in Vegas at the
- 24:50Speaker 2: T Mobile Arena And you.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Could be there with one thousand dollars spending money. Your
- 24:55Speaker 3: first keyword coming up at nine ten, and when you
- 24:58Speaker 3: hear it, make sure you text to two hundred two hundred.
- 25:01Speaker 2: It's right, Text it to two hundred two hundred and
- 25:05Speaker 2: the trip the one grand could be yours. It's ninety
- 25:08Speaker 2: seven point one WASHFM. Toby and Chilly in the Morning.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Ninety seven point one WASHFM, Washington, an iHeartRadio station.
- 25:17Speaker 4: Coming up on Top Stories top of the hour.
- 25:19Speaker 3: The President signing an executive order that would change the
- 25:23Speaker 3: childhood vaccine schedule. We've got the latest on that story
- 25:27Speaker 3: and others on the way with Toby and Chilly in
- 25:31Speaker 3: the morning on ninety seven point one Wash FM.
- 25:37Speaker 4: Top Stories Top of the Hour.
- 25:39Speaker 3: The President signing an executive order that would split the
- 25:42Speaker 3: childhood MMR vaccine into three separate shots, and it would
- 25:46Speaker 3: also push for childhood immunizations to be given at separate
- 25:51Speaker 3: visits instead of all at once. Meanwhile, the President now
- 25:55Speaker 3: has a new attorney general. The Senate confirmed Todd blanche
- 25:59Speaker 3: in a narrow vote over the weekend, and he was
- 26:02Speaker 3: officially sworn in yesterday. The FAA says it's going to
- 26:06Speaker 3: be pausing all flights out of Reagan National Airport for
- 26:10Speaker 3: three hours on August twenty third to support the Freedom
- 26:14Speaker 3: Two fifty Grand Prix event flights are going to be
- 26:17Speaker 3: grounded from ten to fifteen am to one fifteen pm,
- 26:20Speaker 3: although the agency says that timing could change. A former
- 26:24Speaker 3: DC International School teacher has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing
- 26:29Speaker 3: a sixteen year old student that he met outside of class.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Investigators say thirty five year old John Gass of Hyattsville
- 26:36Speaker 3: had intimate relations with the girl multiple times and once
- 26:40Speaker 3: stuck into her home through window. Two Gaithersburg construction workers
- 26:44Speaker 3: had a very terrifying escape after their scaffolding came loose
- 26:49Speaker 3: nine stories up Crusay. The workers broke a window and
- 26:53Speaker 3: were able to climb inside the Washington Towers building to safety.
- 26:57Speaker 3: And a new survey finds that nearly a third of
- 27:00Speaker 3: Americans admit to shoplifting, and food and drinks top the
- 27:04Speaker 3: list at thirty percent. That edges out clothing and personal
- 27:08Speaker 3: hygiene items. Forecast for today partly sunny skies with the
- 27:12Speaker 3: chance of storms this afternoon. Highs around ninety right now
- 27:15Speaker 3: seventy four in Woodbridge.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Tax free shopping happened over the weekend in Virginia, and
- 27:20Speaker 2: it'll happen soon in Maryland. What is the funniest or
- 27:24Speaker 2: craziest or weird thing you've seen on a back to
- 27:27Speaker 2: school shopping list so far this year? Was it from
- 27:32Speaker 2: the class, the school district, maybe one of the teachers
- 27:35Speaker 2: eight six, six, nine, two, seven, forty three sixty one?
- 27:38Speaker 2: We're talking tennis balls, shaving cream, and old sock beach dow.
- 27:42Speaker 2: So what's on the list? Call us now we're talking
- 27:45Speaker 2: about it coming up. I've found a pretty interesting list
- 27:48Speaker 2: online of some of the strangest back to school items
- 27:51Speaker 2: put on a list, like a roll of aluminum foil okay,
- 27:55Speaker 2: disinfecting wifes, which I can understand.
- 27:58Speaker 3: That's been a regular thing since pandemia.
- 28:01Speaker 2: A mouse for a chromebook because track pads have enemies.
- 28:05Speaker 3: We go through several mice for computers every single year
- 28:09Speaker 3: because he inevitably breaks them.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Toby and Chilly in the morning at ninety seven point
- 28:12Speaker 2: one wash FM. So what are some weird things but
- 28:16Speaker 2: real things that you've seen show up on a back
- 28:18Speaker 2: to school supply list in Manassas, Kendra, Good morning, what'd
- 28:23Speaker 2: you see so this year?
- 28:24Speaker 3: My daughter is in sixth grade and they wanted one
- 28:27Speaker 3: hundred page.
- 28:28Speaker 4: Protectors, But like, why, I'm with you?
- 28:31Speaker 3: That seems like an awful lot of page protectors A ton.
- 28:35Speaker 4: I mean, I bought him because like, who am I?
- 28:38Speaker 2: I'm not the teacher, so I don't know what they want.

- 28:42Speaker 5: Is?
- 28:42Speaker 2: Nobody knows.
- 28:43Speaker 3: You'll certainly find out after the school starts.
- 28:46Speaker 4: All of my kids have been in this school for
- 28:48Speaker 4: this grade and I have never had to buy a
- 28:50Speaker 4: hundred of those.

- 29:11Speaker 6: Because they do tennis and gem but they don't have
- 29:13Speaker 6: enough tennis rackets for everybody to use them. So they
- 29:17Speaker 6: were like, if you have spare tennis rackets or baseball
- 29:20Speaker 6: bats or key ball bats, bring them in.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Dang school budgets are being cut left and right.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Yeah, first they cut the arts, now they're cutting sports equipment.
