• 0:42
Speaker 3: I believe report day for You're fighting Tigers is tomorrow,
• 0:46
Speaker 3: if I'm not mistaken.
• 0:47
Speaker 2: That is that correct?
• 0:48
Speaker 4: That they actually report today practice first first practices tomorrow?
• 0:54
Speaker 2: Really boring? I just got the training camp shivers. I remember,
• 1:04
Speaker 2: I remember report day? You carry your bag?
• 1:06
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's exactly where my brain went. Is like carrying
• 1:09
Speaker 3: your stuff into West Camp West.
• 1:12
Speaker 5: Remember when when Danny Etling reported training campus senior year.
• 1:16
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, didn't have a flint shirt on. Forgot about that?
• 1:22
Speaker 2: Did you work with him? Yeah?
• 1:23
Speaker 4: It was okay, Yeah, you had the Air Canada shirt
• 1:28
Speaker 4: the year before that?
• 1:29
Speaker 2: Remember, yeah it might have but mine might have been
• 1:31
  Speaker 2: the year.
• 1:31
Speaker 5: I can't remember who's who it was that he was
• 1:34
Speaker 5: too much star one year.
• 1:35
Speaker 2: Yeah, so what he printed. Uh, I don't know where
• 1:38
Speaker 2: you got that shirt from. Is the one who you
• 1:39
Speaker 2: holding the crystal ball? I think it was. I have
• 1:40
Speaker 2: one of those as well. Uh did you get him forced?
• 1:44
Speaker 2: I think got him forced. He didn't get one from me.
• 1:47
Speaker 3: Yeah, he probably did. I'm just assuming that you misplaced
• 1:50
  Speaker 3: it like you.
• 1:51
Speaker 2: Danny Atling. I called him Danny Etling.
• 1:54
Speaker 5: He just got that looks shrimp. He just got Flynn
• 1:57
Speaker 5: uh sneaky NFL quarterback at least five years, right.
• 2:05
  Speaker 2: I don't know.
• 2:06
Speaker 3: I know he's playing right now in the the UFL.
• 2:09
Speaker 3: I don't know if he got five of like vested years.
• 2:14
Speaker 5: I'm not even gonna ask chat GPT because I'll said
• 2:16
Speaker 5: to do it too much. I'm just gonna ask Google.
• 2:20
Speaker 2: It's just not fa.
• 2:22
Speaker 3: You tried to burn me yesterday by saying we lost
• 2:24
Speaker 3: to the Buccaneers in eight in like week four, and
• 2:27
Speaker 3: we beat him in week sixteen in eight and got
• 2:30
  Speaker 3: John Gruden fired.
• 2:31
  Speaker 2: We killed.
• 2:33
Speaker 6: I said, I loved how much he used chat GPT.
• 2:37
Speaker 5: You did all right, respect that well practice tape, And
• 2:41
  Speaker 5: I said, that's honestly all I got.
• 2:43
Speaker 7: Jake is the one that was like, you need to
• 2:46
Speaker 7: stop trusting he does.
• 2:47
Speaker 3: He like it got him at SEC Media Days, it
• 2:50
Speaker 3: got him yesterday trying to burn me.
• 2:52
Speaker 2: It's got me a couple of times.
• 2:54
Speaker 3: I think it's a good tool for some things, Like
• 3:00
Speaker 3: you know, if you want to check your grammar on
• 3:02
Speaker 3: something you're writing, quick grammar check. There's websites to do that,
• 3:05
  Speaker 3: but it's just it's quick.
• 3:06
Speaker 2: Like what about So here's an example of what I do.
• 3:10
Speaker 5: We're having Wressell Shepherd on like I just asked for
• 3:14
Speaker 5: a brief, like a bio brief overview of his career.
• 3:17
Speaker 5: That's kind of what I did with that guy that
• 3:18
Speaker 5: got me at Baylor. It's like, give me, give me
• 3:20
Speaker 5: an overview his career. And one of the overviews is
• 3:22
Speaker 5: like he had a highlight game in the bulkames how
• 3:24
Speaker 5: many yards they do for?
• 3:24
Speaker 2: And I was like, yeah, so you threw for this
• 3:25
  Speaker 2: many yards.
• 3:26
Speaker 6: He's like, no, Oh my gosh, that's how much he
• 3:32
Speaker 6: used Gibt Jake. You got to stop trusting it. And
• 3:37
Speaker 6: I also forgot that we were naming like the most
• 3:40
Speaker 6: random baseball players last night, and I was like I
• 3:42
Speaker 6: just kind of blacked out and started doing it.
• 3:45
Speaker 2: That no do what you're talking about. That that game.
• 3:49
Speaker 2: I knew a couple of those ns.
• 3:50
Speaker 3: Not random that that game could be fun, like a
• 3:54
Speaker 3: snub like somebody. If somebody was sitting there drinking with
• 3:56
Speaker 3: me and a Landro like and playing that game, they'd
• 3:58
  Speaker 3: hate us.
• 3:59
  Speaker 7: That was I don't know why I.
• 4:02
Speaker 6: Can name like so many Royals players.
• 4:05
  Speaker 2: It was fun.
• 4:07
Speaker 3: It had like it had like a mix of like
• 4:08
Speaker 3: their homegrown players and also like some old heads that
• 4:11
  Speaker 3: they brought in.
• 4:12
  Speaker 2: It cannot better.
• 4:13
Speaker 7: Like Moneyball a little bit, but like it worked.
• 4:17
Speaker 2: It's like that looks Gordon.
• 4:19
Speaker 4: He was like the guy on that team they brought in.
• 4:23
  Speaker 7: He's a captain.
• 4:24
Speaker 2: I think they brought Lorenzo.
• 4:26
Speaker 4: Caine that year in the outfield, and he was a
• 4:29
Speaker 4: he was a guy they had just brought.
• 4:30
Speaker 7: I liked Lorenzo Kaine.
• 4:31
Speaker 6: So Lorenzo Kine got injured and he got sent down
• 4:34
Speaker 6: for rehab and the team, I forget the team it was.
• 4:38
Speaker 7: He It wasn't round Rock, but he played against round Rock.
• 4:42
Speaker 6: And this was like after they won the World Series
• 4:45
Speaker 6: and I went to that game. But this was like
• 4:47
Speaker 6: I was still in high school, so I had a
• 4:49
Speaker 6: curfew and I had to go home, but I was
• 4:51
Speaker 6: so mad because I wanted to get Lorenzo Kine, a
• 4:54
Speaker 6: World Series champ, to sign a baseball that I had,
• 4:57
Speaker 6: and I had got his attention and he told me
• 4:59
Speaker 6: to wait for him after game and he'd sign my ball.
• 5:01
Speaker 6: And I had to leave before the game was over,
• 5:03
Speaker 6: and I was so mad. I didn't talk to my
• 5:05
Speaker 6: parents for the rest of the night. I was so mad.
• 5:08
Speaker 3: I had had an experience like that in the minor
• 5:11
Speaker 3: league game shout out to the Shreefport Captains. There used
• 5:14
Speaker 3: to be a double A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants,
• 5:18
Speaker 3: and the affiliate would come play like one game a year,
• 5:21
Speaker 3: like the you know, the major league club to the
• 5:23
Speaker 3: we'll play one game a year there, and the San
• 5:25
Speaker 3: Francisco Giants came and I think, like Kevin Mitchell was
• 5:28
Speaker 3: on that Giants team, but more importantly, Will Clark was
• 5:30
Speaker 3: on that team, and I knew Will Clark was from
• 5:33
Speaker 3: Louisiana and I know he wasn'tn LSU.
• 5:36
Speaker 2: Guy. I went to Mississippi State.
• 5:37
Speaker 3: But I wanted like Will Clark to sign my baseball
• 5:40
Speaker 3: so bad, and like I finally Guy's attention, I'm like, well, well,
• 5:45
  Speaker 3: my guy's attention.
• 5:46
Speaker 2: I'm like, you sign you signed? He looked at me
• 5:48
Speaker 2: and turned away. No, that was messed up.
• 5:52
Speaker 6: He came to Guarantee one time and I met him
• 5:55
Speaker 6: while he was here, and he was super cool.
• 5:56
  Speaker 2: But I must say he's not I'm saying I don't
• 5:58
  Speaker 2: know him.
• 5:58
Speaker 6: At all, but I've heard stuff like not just from you,
• 6:01
Speaker 6: but I've heard stuff like that.
• 6:02
Speaker 7: And I so I didn't want to ask him to
• 6:05
  Speaker 7: take a picture.
• 6:05
Speaker 6: I mean I was, but I was new here, so
• 6:08
Speaker 6: I was definitely not going to ask him.
• 6:12
  Speaker 2: For though.
• 6:13
Speaker 3: I just remember when my parents used to talk up
• 6:16
Speaker 3: Will Clark, so I was I hit left handed and
• 6:18
Speaker 3: like you need to hit like well you know the
• 6:19
Speaker 3: left handed. I just remember like Will Clark was like
• 6:22
Speaker 3: big in our house. He's like the only non brave
• 6:24
Speaker 3: that we ever talked about. And then he was coming
• 6:27
Speaker 3: to Shreveport and I don't even think he played that day.
• 6:29
Speaker 2: I think he was just there. I think like he's just.
• 6:31
Speaker 3: Like tune it up and he was like in the dugout.
• 6:35
Speaker 2: I got his attention, but.
• 6:37
Speaker 5: Quickly if he can't not everybody's look.
• 6:42
Speaker 3: I'm just saying like I remember, like it's a core memory,
• 6:45
Speaker 3: like well, a lot.
• 6:47
Speaker 2: Of eight year old, a lot of eight year.
• 6:49
Speaker 6: Old at that time was an eight year old and
• 6:54
Speaker 6: he had a football and he's like, man, Matt, you
• 6:56
Speaker 6: would look at him and turn away.
• 6:58
Speaker 2: No, that would sign it exactly.
• 7:00
Speaker 5: So the only time like this is okay, this is
• 7:02
Speaker 5: back in the playing days where you know, there's people
• 7:04
Speaker 5: just want autographs from people that have the jersey and helmet.
• 7:07
Speaker 2: It's not about like the person. You know.
• 7:09
Speaker 5: I'm not always so there is some times where I
• 7:14
Speaker 5: would turn away. Little kids, I'm gonna, I'm gonna.
• 7:21
Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you why so much.
• 7:23
  Speaker 7: I'm gonna I'm tell you why I called you a
• 7:25
  Speaker 7: d bag and you're.
• 7:26
Speaker 5: I'm gonna tell you why because everywhere you go, and
• 7:29
Speaker 5: Jake's gonna attest to this when I bring it up.
• 7:31
Speaker 2: Everywhere you go when.
• 7:32
Speaker 5: You fly to a hotel where if you stay at
• 7:35
Speaker 5: your hotel, there is a group of people that find
• 7:38
Speaker 5: their way around the security security barriers and they're autograph hounds. Yeah, okay,
• 7:43
Speaker 5: And there are people that that dude for a living.
• 7:46
Speaker 5: They sell autographs, They sell pictures, and they will try
• 7:50
Speaker 5: to sneak around and get autographs for the sole purpose
• 7:53
Speaker 5: of selling them. It's not for a fan, it's not
• 7:56
Speaker 5: for like to go up on their wall or whatever.
• 7:59
Speaker 5: And players started getting used to this and learn and
• 8:02
  Speaker 5: figuring it out.
• 8:03
Speaker 2: And you can and you can spot them. You can tell.
• 8:05
Speaker 5: You can just tell because they have there's notebook of stuff,
• 8:07
Speaker 5: they have a bag of stuff, and like so they
• 8:09
Speaker 5: started trying to hide, and they try to hide the
• 8:11
Speaker 5: fact that hide their stuff behind. They would start bringing
• 8:14
Speaker 5: their wives to go ask for these autographs, and then
• 8:17
Speaker 5: they started asking their children. Their children were like runners
• 8:20
Speaker 5: for them, like they're like, all right, you you would
• 8:22
Speaker 5: see them like back in the back because you would
• 8:24
Speaker 5: get off the bus and you see them, all right.
• 8:25
Speaker 5: They'd give their kid a card or a picture or
• 8:28
Speaker 5: something like go run and get it and like and
• 8:31
Speaker 5: I would, and every now and then a kid would
• 8:33
  Speaker 5: come up.
• 8:33
Speaker 2: And be like that is that your dad over there.
• 8:39
Speaker 5: I had a hard time doing it, but there was
• 8:41
Speaker 5: people around me that certainly would something like.
• 8:44
  Speaker 2: That vis Ago.
• 8:51
Speaker 5: If you followed any athlete or quarterback, you would see
• 8:54
  Speaker 5: him turned down.
• 8:55
Speaker 2: A lot of quarter all have a meeting being like
• 8:59
Speaker 2: Phillips would sign a lot. But I give that situation.
• 9:02
Speaker 2: Probably those kind of.
• 9:03
Speaker 5: Guys like like if a quarter of starting quarterback in the
• 9:05
Speaker 5: NFL is gonna sign everybody's autograph who wants to like it,
• 9:08
Speaker 5: it's gonna they'd still be signing.
• 9:10
  Speaker 4: I could just I just see y'all having a meeting
• 9:12
Speaker 4: and being like, gosh, don't fall for it.
• 9:13
Speaker 2: The kids are more.
• 9:14
Speaker 5: They also come back with like this piece of paper
• 9:16
Speaker 5: and they're all like taped and like he's like, can
• 9:18
Speaker 5: you sign all eighty of these?
• 9:19
Speaker 2: So I'll sign one one.
• 9:22
Speaker 4: Stuff saying like they don't sign with blue ink or
• 9:25
  Speaker 4: something like that.
• 9:25
Speaker 5: For you, like if someone comes with that as a player,
• 9:28
Speaker 5: you're like, if anybody asked for like if they give
• 9:30
Speaker 5: you a pen with blue ink, don't sign?
• 9:33
Speaker 2: Is it because it's easier to like I don't know.
• 9:36
  Speaker 2: I don't know did y'all have it?
• 9:37
Speaker 5: Did people ever tell you all that they told us,
• 9:40
Speaker 5: or like they come out to you with the blue ink,
• 9:41
  Speaker 5: don't don't sign it?
• 9:42
Speaker 4: Oh no, I've seen that from like like red carpet
• 9:45
Speaker 4: celebrities and stuff talk about like, yeah, you can't sign
• 9:47
Speaker 4: anything with blue een.
• 9:48
Speaker 2: Yeah that was that was That was the real thing.
• 9:49
Speaker 2: I'm not trying. They're autographed hawk there is right right.
• 9:52
Speaker 3: I saw I swear to like in this statement, I'm
• 9:54
Speaker 3: not trying to be funny. We didn't have the same
• 9:58
Speaker 3: situation probably as a Green Bay pam Like I'm not
• 10:01
Speaker 3: just you know, No, San Diego and.
• 10:03
Speaker 8: The Chargers we had Hall of fames that had valuable
• 10:09
Speaker 8: but when I went, well, when I went to Denver,
• 10:13
Speaker 8: like that's when I kind of saw like what you're
• 10:15
Speaker 8: talking about, like people hiding.
• 10:17
Speaker 3: And coming out of the bushes basically and kids asking
• 10:20
Speaker 3: for parents for like some of the players we had
• 10:22
Speaker 3: on that team, like in San Diego as wild because
• 10:26
  Speaker 3: I don't I don't you know, I don't know if
• 10:28
  Speaker 3: it's because nobody's actually from there. I don't like cause
• 10:31
  Speaker 3: it's not like it's a it's a big city, don't
• 10:33
Speaker 3: get me wrong, but there's so many other things to
• 10:35
Speaker 3: do that like people aren't that's probably why they're not there,
• 10:38
Speaker 3: Like weren't really worried about it. So like we'd all
• 10:42
Speaker 3: go out like to the movies, to dinner, to like whatever,
• 10:45
Speaker 3: and maybe like one or two would come up to
• 10:48
Speaker 3: even Philip like for an autograph. So I think you
• 10:53
Speaker 3: truly like y'all had a different situation because like you're
• 10:55
Speaker 3: the Green Bay Packers, like you're one of like the OG's,
• 10:58
Speaker 3: like when you went to Chicago. I can't imagine what
• 11:02
Speaker 3: that was like, because when you go to Chicago, they
• 11:05
  Speaker 3: know everybody.
• 11:06
Speaker 2: I was blown away.
• 11:08
Speaker 3: Like anytime we played the Bears in Chicago, we'd go
• 11:11
Speaker 3: try to eat dinner and like the deep Snappers getting
• 11:14
Speaker 3: asked for an autograph, like they know everybody.
• 11:17
Speaker 2: That was our experience. Lease.
• 11:18
Speaker 3: I played there twice, I think, and that was so
• 11:20
Speaker 3: I'm sure like when y'all went to like places like Chicago,
• 11:23
  Speaker 3: which there's probably packer fans, I'm sure y'all couldn't even
• 11:26
Speaker 3: get around town Ian we could.
• 11:27
  Speaker 2: Yeah you could.
• 11:28
Speaker 5: You just had that group. You had, Yeah, the group,
• 11:30
Speaker 5: and they you could. They were sitting there, they'd have
• 11:32
Speaker 5: like five Duffel bags. They'd have every mini helmet you
• 11:35
Speaker 5: could think of, real helmet jerseys like already pinned up
• 11:38
  Speaker 5: on cardboard.
• 11:39
  Speaker 2: You know what.
• 11:39
Speaker 5: They were prepped and ready knew what they wanted to sell.
• 11:41
Speaker 5: They already had the inventory. Yeah, they just needed to
• 11:44
Speaker 5: get it signed. So watch one of those videos of anybody,
• 11:52
Speaker 5: like anybody saying like if anybody doesn't sign, like on
• 11:56
Speaker 5: a video. A lot of times if you look closely
• 11:59
Speaker 5: somebody's handing them a blue ink pin and a card
• 12:01
Speaker 5: and they're like, no, dude, and then they come off
• 12:03
Speaker 5: as a prick. Yeah, I guess I did sign something
• 12:07
Speaker 5: in I put so on like at this point our career,
• 12:10
Speaker 5: it doesn't matter. It's like, yeah, if you needed that, BA,
• 12:13
Speaker 5: if you need that, four dollars here, Bud take it.
• 12:17
Speaker 5: And a lot of a lot of young players in
• 12:19
Speaker 5: the NFL too. That's how they make a majority of
• 12:22
Speaker 5: their money is signing things. So they're not gonna they're
• 12:25
Speaker 5: not car they're not gonna sign.
• 12:26
Speaker 2: Yeah bought my first car off card money. Yeah, they're
• 12:29
Speaker 2: not going to like sign things, just like they'll sign
• 12:32
Speaker 2: for kids. Yeah, okay, so right here.
• 12:35
Speaker 4: According to Matt's favorite source, AI, it says due to
• 12:39
Speaker 4: concerns about forgery or reproduction, so it must be easier
• 12:42
Speaker 4: to like clam down on the blue ink and copy
• 12:45
  Speaker 4: it or something.
• 12:47
Speaker 2: That's what it says. It says, my mind, I had
• 12:48
Speaker 2: no idea this is a thing.
• 12:49
Speaker 4: It's you can it's easier to reproduce an autograph with blue.
• 12:53
Speaker 3: Ink, blue ink on the Herbie blue ink on the
• 12:57
Speaker 3: Herbie blue ink on the Keenan Allen.
• 13:01
Speaker 2: Okay, I get it.
• 13:03
Speaker 3: Blue ink on that one too, Okay, cool, all three
• 13:05
Speaker 3: of those are blue ink.
• 13:07
Speaker 2: I get it, I get it.
• 13:09
  Speaker 1: Uh.
• 13:09
Speaker 3: I actually I think it was a National Treasure card
• 13:12
Speaker 3: of mine that I put on our off the break yesterday.
• 13:16
Speaker 3: Huh signed by me blue ink. Yeah, just sign that,
• 13:20
Speaker 3: says raider hater. Did you have a stack up at
• 13:22
  Speaker 3: your house?
• 13:23
Speaker 2: No? Not, I got a stack of those of those
• 13:25
Speaker 2: that are not signed.
• 13:26
Speaker 5: Well on the back of online at least you like impress.
• 13:29
Speaker 5: So when I got done playing, they did give me
• 13:32
Speaker 5: a bag either. Yeah, they got a huge bag like
• 13:34
Speaker 5: stacks in my cards my background because those ones are sweet.
• 13:38
Speaker 2: But on the back of you it's like an impression.
• 13:40
Speaker 5: You can barely it's like a watermarket says like a
• 13:41
  Speaker 5: sample on it.
• 13:43
Speaker 2: Oh, very cool. Let me just check that out. See So,
• 13:49
Speaker 2: but if you want an autograph of.
• 13:52
Speaker 3: Me, that says raider hater, because I if I signed chargers,
• 13:55
  Speaker 3: I put raider hater and if I sign l s U,
• 13:57
  Speaker 3: it's gator hater.
• 13:58
Speaker 5: Oh we gotta get it. We gotta release our video
• 14:00
Speaker 5: a laundra cut up for us.
• 14:02
Speaker 2: Yeah, we do, because she did a nice jack as
• 14:04
Speaker 2: ye were talked, your tongue dry that day, probably did.
• 14:12
Speaker 2: I don't know. It was bad. No, no, it was good.
• 14:16
Speaker 7: It was good. I think the video came out really well.
• 14:19
Speaker 7: But you like forgot to put one of the papers in.
• 14:25
Speaker 6: The oh yeah, oh yeah yeah, so I just had
• 14:28
Speaker 6: to fast forward that.
• 14:29
Speaker 2: Part that was actually, Yeah, you did a good job.
• 14:31
Speaker 2: We didn't give you a lot to work with. So yeah,
• 14:33
  Speaker 2: so update everybody.
• 14:35
Speaker 5: We had five of our most valuable cards from our
• 14:38
  Speaker 5: collected days.
• 14:39
Speaker 2: We've sent them off to p s A to be great.
• 14:41
Speaker 3: Yeah that box, that box was an expensive box. That's
• 14:44
Speaker 3: a used car box.
• 14:46
Speaker 5: No, no, it's not that much. Well I think it's
• 14:48
Speaker 5: great at tens. Maybe it gets great and tens. That
• 14:51
Speaker 5: is a high school used car And currently they're currently
• 14:54
Speaker 5: being graded right now, they're in the grading process because.
• 14:57
Speaker 2: We we did the expedited service.
• 14:59
Speaker 5: Yeah, and we're going to open them on air without
• 15:01
Speaker 5: even looking at it.
• 15:02
Speaker 2: And so if you think the S word is the
• 15:04
Speaker 2: worst thing that Flynn said.
• 15:05
Speaker 5: If they get like nine or eight, I might might quip, oh,
• 15:11
Speaker 5: well you might get fired for what you say.
• 15:15
Speaker 2: Yeah. So I have enjoyed it.
• 15:17
Speaker 3: I have enjoyed and honestly, we might be the photograph first. Yeah,
• 15:22
Speaker 3: the first day that we started this whole deal with
• 15:25
Speaker 3: like trading cards was t Bob's going away party.
• 15:28
  Speaker 2: That's right, that's right.
• 15:30
  Speaker 5: I don't know how you're like, because I have you
• 15:32
Speaker 5: been into cars? I recently started, like we got it.
• 15:35
Speaker 5: And my son got into it in March maybe yeah,
• 15:38
Speaker 5: just because he was had some buddies at school they
• 15:40
Speaker 5: were they had seen some cards and he had really
• 15:42
Speaker 5: been into NFL football recently. Yeah, so I took him
• 15:45
Speaker 5: to a card shop. We opened some cards and like
• 15:48
Speaker 5: he hit lad McConkie card that was worth like one
• 15:50
Speaker 5: hundred bucks. And then like my ears perked up, was
• 15:52
Speaker 5: like huh, yeah, those things are worth stuff.
• 15:57
Speaker 2: And then started learning a little bit more about it.
• 15:58
Speaker 3: But then yes, for your remember you would come in here,
• 16:01
Speaker 3: you know, once every three weeks like you did, and
• 16:04
Speaker 3: you would talk about it. I was like, man, that's cool,
• 16:06
Speaker 3: Like I want to and so like I started, like
• 16:08
Speaker 3: because I was the only thing I was ever chasing
• 16:10
Speaker 3: was like the Paul Skins debut patch, like one of one,
• 16:13
Speaker 3: like I bought boxes of those tops. Like I didn't know,
• 16:17
  Speaker 3: I had no idea, Like I hadn't I didn't know
• 16:19
Speaker 3: what a refractor was.
• 16:20
  Speaker 2: I didn't know anything.
• 16:21
  Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, that's shiny, that's gotta be worth a
• 16:23
  Speaker 3: couple of dollars.
• 16:25
Speaker 2: But it was T Bob's party that you did this.
• 16:29
Speaker 2: It's your fault, was it.
• 16:31
Speaker 3: Yeah, because we were saying goodbye to T Bob and
• 16:34
Speaker 3: we're in the corner watching a card break and your
• 16:37
Speaker 3: wife was judging us.
• 16:38
Speaker 7: I literally walked over and was like, are you watching
• 16:40
Speaker 7: the car? He's like, I'm not watching a card break.
• 16:42
Speaker 2: No, you're watching a card break.
• 16:45
Speaker 3: Hit I hit, I hit that one. Lad that you're
• 16:48
Speaker 3: getting graded for me in that break? Yeah, what a
• 16:51
  Speaker 3: good memory. Yeah.
• 16:54
Speaker 5: Then at your birthday party, gave you Jacob ester p
• 16:58
  Speaker 5: S a graded rookie card.
• 17:00
Speaker 2: Only nine and a half didn't get a ten. Good
• 17:03
Speaker 2: can splurge for the ten. Huh. They didn't have any
• 17:06
  Speaker 2: limited populations, zero.
• 17:09
Speaker 3: Popular anytime that you got a card and you're in
• 17:11
Speaker 3: your practice uniform and let you know how many you've
• 17:14
Speaker 3: really got out there.
• 17:17
Speaker 2: Only had two years of cards. First year, second year.
• 17:21
Speaker 5: There's this card that I got that's got me on it,
• 17:23
Speaker 5: and it's like four other quarterbacks on it, all rookie,
• 17:27
Speaker 5: like the same age. Yeah, and they were all the
• 17:29
Speaker 5: top pick so they like they were part of the
• 17:31
  Speaker 5: NFL premiere.
• 17:32
Speaker 2: Flacco Ryan and so they all like at the Rookie Premiere.
• 17:36
Speaker 2: So they all had like their game.
• 17:38
Speaker 5: Yeah, and I had my red practice jersey and my
• 17:41
Speaker 5: son's like, what, why did you have a practice jersey? Yeah,
• 17:44
Speaker 5: well that seventh round pick.
• 17:46
Speaker 3: It's right, you beat that second round pick out.
• 17:50
Speaker 2: Hell yeah, he's calling place for which school now, matt
• 17:54
Speaker 2: uh is he at Louisville? Yep?
• 17:57
Speaker 5: He was the head coach of Louisville. His brother, Jeff,
• 18:00
Speaker 5: you're really growing well great. His older brother has one
• 18:05
Speaker 5: of the greatest sideline interviews of all time.
• 18:12
Speaker 2: Come back. Yeah, we'll play that.
• 18:14
Speaker 3: Jeff Brom, who I think is an incredible head coach.
• 18:17
Speaker 3: Brian Bram, his brother who Flynn beat out. He was
• 18:19
Speaker 3: a second round pick the same year flim as the
• 18:21
Speaker 3: seventh round pick, is the OC there at Louisville, and
• 18:24
Speaker 3: we'll play one of the best sidelined interviews. Also, after that,
• 18:28
  Speaker 3: we will get into a little l s U training
• 18:30
Speaker 3: camp and we'll do it right here on o tvpter

• 20:16
Speaker 3: ten minutes from now here is Louisville head coach Jeff Brown.
• 20:20
Speaker 3: And how in the world are you starting this game
• 20:22
Speaker 3: tonight after taking that hit just six days ago?
• 20:25
Speaker 2: Well, let me answer. Let me answer that question by
• 20:27
Speaker 2: asking you two questions. One is this or is this
• 20:31
Speaker 2: not the XFL? Yes?
• 20:32
  Speaker 5: It is?
• 20:34
Speaker 2: Two do or do I not currently have a pulse? Yes?
• 20:37
  Speaker 1: I do.
• 20:38
Speaker 2: Let's play football. Oh that's in incredible. Wow, that's that's incredible.
• 20:47
Speaker 2: Or do I not? And he like he meant that,
• 20:50
Speaker 2: He meant it. He was ready for that question. But
• 20:53
Speaker 2: how they go on the spot. They had him ready, dude,
• 20:57
Speaker 2: that was incredible. I love They had to have told him, like, look,
• 21:00
Speaker 2: I hope they didn't get an interviewed. I hope they
• 21:02
Speaker 2: didn't either, because it off the top of the dough.
• 21:07
Speaker 5: Yes, it is currently have a pulse. Yes, I did.
• 21:14
Speaker 5: Fact the old XFL.
• 21:16
Speaker 3: Yeah, like where the coin tosses two guys sprinting for
• 21:19
Speaker 3: the football in whicheveryone recovers it gets to choose, like
• 21:24
Speaker 3: there was so many collar bones that were just taken.
• 21:27
Speaker 2: You got a concussion six days ago, but do I
• 21:32
Speaker 2: do not have a pulse. Let's go.
• 21:34
Speaker 5: You might got a couple of brain bruises in there currently.
• 21:39
Speaker 5: I can't believe how much he looks like his brother.
• 21:40
Speaker 5: To go ahead, lord, all.
• 21:44
Speaker 3: Right, we mentioned that reporting days today. Practice actually starts
• 21:49
Speaker 3: tomorrow for l s U. Super fired up for that,
• 21:53
Speaker 3: and it truly is talking. Season is kind of over
• 21:56
Speaker 3: and now with the Saints and LSU both in camp,
• 21:59
Speaker 3: and I know they practiced in the morning, but you know,
• 22:02
Speaker 3: Flynn and I are going to head across there at
• 22:03
Speaker 3: some point. Go check out maybe the last couple of
• 22:05
Speaker 3: periods of practice. I might just leave y'all and just
• 22:10
Speaker 3: take like a com rex one day, do the show
• 22:13
Speaker 3: from over there, because, by god, I bet we could.
• 22:17
Speaker 3: I want to see Falcony, I bet we could. I
• 22:19
Speaker 3: want to see inside run. I want to see the
• 22:23
Speaker 3: inside run drill nine on seven because that to me,
• 22:28
Speaker 3: because of the offensive line, the defensive line, and the
• 22:32
Speaker 3: running backs and also the tight ends. Think about what
• 22:36
Speaker 3: you can learn about LSU if you just go watch
• 22:39
Speaker 3: a nine on seven period and like for those.
• 22:42
Speaker 5: Listening nine seven periods, Yeah, I'm just wondering, do they
• 22:48
Speaker 5: run the personnel enough that personnel know they have like
• 22:52
  Speaker 5: a run period?
• 22:54
Speaker 3: Yeah, everybody, So everybody still has nine on seven yeah,
• 22:57
Speaker 3: inside run seven yeah, or the defense is going to
• 23:00
Speaker 3: be you know, a little bit of an advantage. So
• 23:02
Speaker 3: if you can run a nine on seven, there's nine
• 23:05
Speaker 3: against seven, that's hence the name.
• 23:07
Speaker 2: You can do it anywhere.
• 23:08
Speaker 3: Like safeties in nine on seven are like it's six yards,
• 23:12
Speaker 3: you know, because they're like there's no threat of his pass.
• 23:14
Speaker 5: I mean you practice is supposed to be harder than
• 23:17
Speaker 5: the game, and nine on seven is one of the
• 23:18
Speaker 5: main definitions of that because it's nine on seven and
• 23:22
  Speaker 5: so it's a running.
• 23:24
Speaker 2: Period, runningdrill. You can't throw it. Everybody knows. I want
• 23:27
  Speaker 2: to see that.
• 23:29
Speaker 3: I want to see I want to see the physicality
• 23:31
Speaker 3: with the offensive line. I want to see who it
• 23:33
Speaker 3: is left or right. I want to see the tight
• 23:36
Speaker 3: end position as well. Okay, because you brought in two
• 23:40
Speaker 3: new tight ends. Trade as Green is going to be
• 23:42
Speaker 3: an f but like he's going to have to do
• 23:43
Speaker 3: some why things. He's going to be an inline blocker
• 23:46
Speaker 3: sometimes because if he's not, your fall into tendencies Like
• 23:49
Speaker 3: Cayden Durham's fully healthy, like he had a foot injury,
• 23:53
Speaker 3: toe injury, basically the entire back half of last year.
• 23:57
Speaker 2: It was still really good.
• 23:58
Speaker 3: Like he's still like think about like some of the
• 24:01
Speaker 3: games that he made some hey in like South Carolina game,
• 24:03
Speaker 3: he probably won you the game as a true freshman.
• 24:06
Speaker 3: I want to see the young running backs, but like
• 24:08
Speaker 3: if I could pick one drill to.
• 24:10
Speaker 2: Tell me a lot of what I need to know about.
• 24:12
Speaker 3: LSU, I think that is the perfect one because every
• 24:16
Speaker 3: kind of question Mark would be involved.
• 24:18
Speaker 2: In that position. That's to watch too.
• 24:20
Speaker 5: Think he's involved, but there's no like, you're not going
• 24:23
Speaker 5: to offense is never going to look great in that period.
• 24:27
Speaker 5: You're never gonna like break a huge run or anything.
• 24:30
Speaker 2: But if you do. And the quarterbacks these days, you know,
• 24:34
  Speaker 2: this is.
• 24:34
Speaker 5: A you're ready for a back in my day type
• 24:37
Speaker 5: speech here. They will never understand the hardships that quarterbacks faced.
• 24:41
Speaker 2: In nine on seven.
• 24:42
Speaker 5: They will never understand what hardships when you and you
• 24:47
Speaker 5: get up there and you're underneath the center and you're
• 24:51
Speaker 5: calling a snap count, trying to take a snap from
• 24:54
Speaker 5: a center in nine on seven who is usually getting
• 24:59
Speaker 5: away lower than he usually would and firing off the
• 25:02
Speaker 5: ball faster than he normally would because the defensive line
• 25:07
Speaker 5: is firing off faster because they know it's a run.
• 25:09
Speaker 5: There's no threat of pass, the centers like lose their mind.
• 25:13
Speaker 5: And then not to mention, like, you rotate a lot
• 25:15
Speaker 5: of people, so you always get like the second backup
• 25:19
Speaker 5: center who's like the right tackle or the guard. So
• 25:22
Speaker 5: and then if you fumble a snap in nine on seven,
• 25:24
Speaker 5: you'll just look dumb and the head coach loses their mind.
• 25:29
Speaker 5: So I remember going to a nine on seven's probably
• 25:32
Speaker 5: the most like nervous of any of the drills that
• 25:34
Speaker 5: we did in practice. Not nervous might not be the
• 25:37
Speaker 5: right word, but the dread of like, oh gosh, I
• 25:40
Speaker 5: gotta like take the sentence, like I gotta take the
• 25:42
Speaker 5: snaps from these guys.
• 25:44
Speaker 2: They're going to be so low.
• 25:45
Speaker 5: These defensive tackles are gonna like hit them like as
• 25:48
Speaker 5: they're snaping the ball.
• 25:50
Speaker 2: So that's pretty tough on his quarterbacks.
• 25:52
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I feel so sorry for y'all. How
• 25:54
Speaker 3: did y'all ever, how did y'all ever get through that then.
• 25:57
Speaker 5: But the quarterbacks these days, guess what, they don't get
• 26:00
  Speaker 5: it because of.
• 26:00
  Speaker 2: Nine on seven.
• 26:05
Speaker 5: There is let me tell you something, Oh don't you
• 26:08
Speaker 5: dare go heart count hard like in nine on seven.
• 26:11
Speaker 5: It's on one. It is on one if you quick,
• 26:14
Speaker 5: If you quick count them, defensive coaches lose their mind
• 26:17
Speaker 5: if you hard town them.
• 26:18
Speaker 2: Everybody jumps off sides. Everybody's losing their mind. How many
• 26:21
Speaker 2: times did you hear Jimbo Fisher?
• 26:23
Speaker 3: Hey, Hey, I'm sorry, Bo, Hey, we'll tell Auburn not
• 26:26
Speaker 3: to go on too all right, sorry, but we'll tell
• 26:29
  Speaker 3: Auburn this way.
• 26:29
Speaker 2: Hey not, hey, don't go on to Bo's not ready
• 26:31
Speaker 2: for it. And then just yep, yeaping ready to throw down.
• 26:37
Speaker 3: I used to love watching those two go at it,
• 26:38
Speaker 3: and they loved each other like they hung out like
• 26:43
Speaker 3: on the road and stuff like they go have a cold,
• 26:44
Speaker 3: like those two who have a cold. Pop yep, but
• 26:46
  Speaker 3: dere in practice.
• 26:50
Speaker 2: Sorry, we'll tell Auburn not to go on to this.
• 26:52
Speaker 5: Week bow and then he picks his ear with us
• 26:54
  Speaker 5: fist pencil eraser.
• 26:57
Speaker 2: What are you doing?
• 26:58
Speaker 3: Shout out to Jimbo though he actually just got a
• 27:00
Speaker 3: spot on tv ACC Network shout out.
• 27:03
Speaker 5: That was me in the NFL, Like once I got
• 27:05
Speaker 5: vested to the defensive coordinators and scout team and stuff.
• 27:08
Speaker 5: When I'd run it like, I would go hard, count
• 27:10
Speaker 5: all the time, I'd audible. I would throw it to
• 27:13
Speaker 5: the to the last person they had. They want to
• 27:16
Speaker 5: be a throw to. Oh my bad, I didn't know
• 27:19
Speaker 5: Ben Roethlisberger wouldn't go on to know.
• 27:21
Speaker 2: Oh you would have been Roethlisberger to throw in the
• 27:24
Speaker 2: comfort too. No, dude, I'm good. Oh you didn't like
• 27:29
Speaker 2: I would. I would change the protection too. I would
• 27:31
Speaker 2: slide it out to the nick stuff. They don't do that.
• 27:34
  Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, they're NFL.
• 27:36
  Speaker 3: See, I'm so glad, Like I don't know, we're gonna
• 27:39
Speaker 3: get a brave We got chep Waite nose.
• 27:41
Speaker 2: Norm was so good. North Turner like he wouldn't do that.
• 27:45
Speaker 3: And if we had to repeat a play like more
• 27:47
Speaker 3: than twice, he's get it out. He's like, you think, hey,
• 27:51
Speaker 3: you know what, I bet you. Oakland's not going to
• 27:53
Speaker 3: allow us to repeat the play on Sunday. So if
• 27:56
Speaker 3: we're repeating it on practice time, that need to get
• 27:59
Speaker 3: it out, get it.
• 28:00
Speaker 5: Out, well, Oakland might have that's true, but other things
• 28:08
Speaker 5: the Broncos didn't Kansas City.
• 28:10
Speaker 2: Not Oakland, Oakland. You won't do it again. Okay, we
• 28:13

• 28:39
Speaker 3: four weeks away from you.
• 28:41
Speaker 5: Getting preseason to tailgate. Probably in a couple of weeks,
• 28:46
Speaker 5: that's true. Yeah, you could get those dough secuies ready.
• 28:49
  Speaker 2: I mean.
• 28:52
Speaker 5: Preseason tailgates a vibe because it's like the first tailgate.
• 28:57
Speaker 2: What your you. It's true.
• 29:00
Speaker 3: And if you're gonna practice tailgating, go ahead and do
• 29:02
Speaker 3: it with the best, and that is Doseki. So drink responsibly,
• 29:05
Speaker 3: enjoyed during the tailgate, enjoyed anytime because it's always a
• 29:09
Speaker 3: good time to go for dose.
• 29:10
Speaker 5: Speaking of practicing, you can practice deleting beers anytime, any day, anytime,
• 29:16
Speaker 5: whatever it is, go for dose. And if you're gonna
• 29:18
Speaker 5: do it, drink responsible of course, but gets you a

Speaker 5: nice cold, tall Mexican longer. Get it lime, squeeze it
• 29:24
Speaker 5: in there, go for dose. Get ready for the weekend,

Speaker 1: Locked in on l s U Football twenty four to seven,
• 29:41
Speaker 1: you're listening to Off the Bench.
• 29:51
Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in OTV one O four five
• 29:54
Speaker 3: ESPN Baton Rouge, Jake Flynn, a linger tat all here
• 30:00
Speaker 3: you and now we're going to be joined by a
• 30:01
Speaker 3: former LSU longtime NFL receiver.
• 30:04
Speaker 2: Russell Shephard joins the show. Shep, what is up, my man?
• 30:07
  Speaker 2: How you doing?
• 30:08
Speaker 10: What's going on? Brotherand thanks for having me on.
• 30:11
Speaker 2: Excited to have you on.
• 30:12
Speaker 3: And today is actually reporting day for the LSU Tigers.
• 30:16
Speaker 3: Now we know NFL teams have already reported to training camp,
• 30:19
Speaker 3: and so you know, Flynn and I have talked about
• 30:22
Speaker 3: it like that reporting day. You know, depending on where
• 30:24
Speaker 3: you're at in your career, you got a different feel
• 30:27
Speaker 3: Like when I say reporting day to Russell Shephard, what
• 30:30
  Speaker 3: do you.
• 30:30
  Speaker 2: Think of.
• 30:33
Speaker 10: Butterflies? You know just kind of you know, full of energy.
• 30:38
Speaker 10: You know it's coming off just a good amount of
• 30:40
Speaker 10: time with the family, kind of working working my skills.
• 30:44
Speaker 10: You know, you know, the off season is a kind
• 30:47
Speaker 10: of a just kind of get your juices back going,
• 30:50
Speaker 10: you know, fall back in love with just the grind.
• 30:52
Speaker 10: And so when you get to that first day of
• 30:54
Speaker 10: training camp for reporting day, you know you kind of like,
• 30:58
Speaker 10: you know, the build up.
• 31:01
Speaker 3: One of the things that we were talking about is
• 31:03
Speaker 3: like you know, different times in different years and when
• 31:06
Speaker 3: you're reporting, Like for you, like once you get to
• 31:08
Speaker 3: the NFL, right, and I mean you had a hell
• 31:11
Speaker 3: of a career, you lasted a very long time. What
• 31:13
Speaker 3: was that first one like for you? Because Jeff, like
• 31:15
Speaker 3: you knew what kind of player you were and you
• 31:18
Speaker 3: were going in undrafted free agent type guy, Like what
• 31:20
Speaker 3: was your mindset going into that training camp maybe compared
• 31:23
Speaker 3: to year four or five in the NFL.
• 31:26
Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah. So look so with me, like every every
• 31:29
Speaker 10: player has that different journey and it's a unique journey.
• 31:32
Speaker 10: All of them are worth it that earned. So with me,
• 31:36
Speaker 10: I was an undrafted free agent to Philly. I was
• 31:40
Speaker 10: the first you know drafted and undrafted class time that
• 31:44
Speaker 10: Chip Kelly, So you know, we you know I didn't
• 31:47
Speaker 10: have I had a relationship with coach Kelly coming out
• 31:49
Speaker 10: of high school. He recruited me. I still ended up,
• 31:52
Speaker 10: you know, going to LSU. So when he was in
• 31:55
Speaker 10: a head coach position with Philly, it made perfect sense
• 31:57
Speaker 10: for me to go there off of the relationships. So
• 32:00
Speaker 10: had a great training camp. I was able to play
• 32:03
Speaker 10: with my all time favorite player, Michael Vick. He was
• 32:05
Speaker 10: a quarterback at that point in time with the organization.
• 32:09
Speaker 10: But we were stacked, man. We had Sean Jackson, Jason Levon,
• 32:13
Speaker 10: Jeremy Macklin, Roley Cooper, the list goes on. It was
• 32:18
Speaker 10: deep room. So I end up, you know, getting waves
• 32:22
Speaker 10: with final cuts. I made it all the way to
• 32:24
Speaker 10: the final cut. The last preach is the game. I
• 32:27
Speaker 10: got waves and the next pave. You know, every NFL
• 32:31
Speaker 10: team had twenty four hours to pick up your rights.
• 32:35
Speaker 10: So with me, you know, not really knowing kind of
• 32:38
Speaker 10: you know, if I was gonna end up somewhere at
• 32:40
Speaker 10: that point, I didn't have an agent, so I was
• 32:42
Speaker 10: just kind of a little little since sleep that night,
• 32:45
Speaker 10: not knowing my future. So I get a call from
• 32:49
Speaker 10: Tommy Mossick. This actually the first time I ever told
• 32:52
Speaker 10: the story. So Coach Mossy called me about nine thirty
• 32:55
Speaker 10: that night. I actually just got off the phone with
• 32:57
Speaker 10: Hollie Roseman, the GM for the Philadelphia Eagles, and you know,
• 33:02
Speaker 10: Howie told me, you know, Russell, unfortunately, Man, we had
• 33:05
Speaker 10: to release you, but we want to bring in the
• 33:08
Speaker 10: practice squad if possible. I said, well, Howie, what do
• 33:12
Speaker 10: you mean possible. He's like, well, somebody picks you up,
• 33:15
Speaker 10: then you know you have to go with that team,
• 33:18
Speaker 10: you know. But you know, I said, well, what's the
• 33:21
Speaker 10: chances you think of me getting claimed Howie on the
• 33:23
Speaker 10: scale of one to ten. And you know, Howie's a
• 33:26
Speaker 10: good friend of mine. He gave me opportunity. You know,
• 33:29
Speaker 10: no shade towards him or that made an organization, the Eagles,
• 33:32
Speaker 10: but he told me I had a three out of ten.
• 33:35
Speaker 10: So that was kind of it kind of kicked me
• 33:37
Speaker 10: in the you know, the coach you know, when he
• 33:39
Speaker 10: told me that. And so when I got off the
• 33:41
Speaker 10: phone with Howie, just randomly, I get a call from
• 33:44
Speaker 10: Tommy Mossick, and coach Mafick told me, hey, Bush Davis,
• 33:48
Speaker 10: who was the former head coach at University of North Carolina.
• 33:52
Speaker 10: He's a special associate assistant to Breg Ciano and they
• 33:58
Speaker 10: called asking about your chef. So I know I heard
• 34:01
Speaker 10: you got waved with Philly, but I just want to
• 34:03
Speaker 10: let you know they called action about you. And I
• 34:07
Speaker 10: woke up that morning. I went in to sign my
• 34:10
Speaker 10: contract with the Philadelphia Eagles to be on the practice squad,
• 34:14
Speaker 10: and Howie Roseman had to pull He pulled me to
• 34:17
Speaker 10: the side and say, ship, unfortunately, man, you can't sign
• 34:20
Speaker 10: this contract. You've just been claimed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
• 34:25
Speaker 10: And yeah, it just it just all just clicked. So
• 34:29
Speaker 10: I went into training. You know, obviously my training camp experience,
• 34:32
Speaker 10: I had a great camp, had a great relationship with
• 34:34
Speaker 10: coach Kelly, but obviously through other relationships, you know, Coach Mossick,
• 34:40
Speaker 10: you know, speaking highly of me when they they when
• 34:43
Speaker 10: Tampa calls me playing against Bush days in North Carolina,
• 34:46
Speaker 10: having a great game, and you know, three years prior,
• 34:49
Speaker 10: you know, all these things led to me ultimately getting
• 34:52
Speaker 10: claimed and being with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
• 34:55
Speaker 5: For your straight It's such a cool story because you
• 35:00
Speaker 5: were the epitome of like do everything the right way,
• 35:04
Speaker 5: do with the right attitude. Like I used to love
• 35:06
Speaker 5: when I was playing coming back in the off season
• 35:08
Speaker 5: and I work it out with you, played throwing with you,
• 35:12
Speaker 5: running routes, all that good stuff.
• 35:13
Speaker 2: Man, we had some good times back in the day.
• 35:15
Speaker 5: But like football is such a small world and college
• 35:18
Speaker 5: NFL is so interconnected. So so like you, certainly, I
• 35:22
Speaker 5: think all LSU fans would agree and Hesse certainly like
• 35:25
Speaker 5: you were not used correctly when you were here at LSU.
• 35:28
Speaker 5: And but you made a name for yourself in the
• 35:30
Speaker 5: NFL for a long time because you did the right
• 35:32
Speaker 5: things and that story like highlights that because you had
• 35:36
Speaker 5: somebody from college all on your behalf and vouch for you,
• 35:41
  Speaker 5: and that's.
• 35:41
Speaker 2: The way these things work.
• 35:42
Speaker 5: But then you get to Tampa and you have a
• 35:45
Speaker 5: really good I think four years in Tampa, is that right?
• 35:50
Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, yeah, man, it was a great opportunity. You know.
• 35:53
Speaker 10: The thing about so people that have different opinions about Coachiano,
• 35:58
Speaker 10: but he's very easy how he's very intelligent.
• 36:02
  Speaker 5: You know.
• 36:02
Speaker 10: He obviously is a very you know, strong armed, you know, leader,
• 36:06
Speaker 10: and he has a notary background, and I think people
• 36:10
Speaker 10: like him, you know, whether Nick say, Ben Greg Ciano,
• 36:15
Speaker 10: Chip Kelly, you know, you have some guys that are
• 36:17
Speaker 10: wired more social college and I think that was his
• 36:20
Speaker 10: you know, his ultimate thing. But I learned a lot
• 36:23
Speaker 10: from him, and I kind of got introduced to special teams,
• 36:26
Speaker 10: you know, you know when I the funny thing, Matt.
• 36:31
Speaker 10: So when I got to Tampa, the next morning, I practice,
• 36:36
Speaker 10: but that morning, not knowing the playbook and still getting
• 36:39
Speaker 10: you know, just first day at work, I didn't they
• 36:42
Speaker 10: didn't have me do any reps. So immediately right after practice,
• 36:47
Speaker 10: it was me and another guy that they claimed. I
• 36:51
  Speaker 10: forget the young man's name, but he's a d D.
• 36:53
Speaker 10: So right after practice they pulled me in this young
• 36:57
Speaker 10: man and say, hey, Rush, we want you guys to
• 36:59
Speaker 10: do some one on one. And this is after I
• 37:02
Speaker 10: got claimed. So you know, typically when you when you
• 37:07
Speaker 10: get claimed, you have to be on the NFL team
• 37:10
Speaker 10: for three weeks straight. They have to pay you at
• 37:13
Speaker 10: least you don't have to be on the team, but
• 37:14
Speaker 10: they have to pay you that. You know that the
• 37:17
Speaker 10: money from the three games. So you know, I thought
• 37:19
Speaker 10: I was on the team. Everything's where I got at
• 37:21
Speaker 10: least three weeks to show myself. So literally after practice,
• 37:25
Speaker 10: me and this the dB we do fifteen straight one
• 37:29
Speaker 10: on one before but before we even started, they had
• 37:37
Speaker 10: half of the post out, the in house shouts. They
• 37:40
Speaker 10: were on the sideline as well as the GM Gregg Cheano.
• 37:44
Speaker 10: They were all there watching us do one on one
• 37:48
Speaker 10: and man, ultimately I end up you know, you know,
• 37:51
Speaker 10: competing and I feel like I won the battle overall.
• 37:54
Speaker 10: Literally after that practice, they end up waiving a young man.
• 37:59
Speaker 10: They brought me in and they told me, hey, Russ,
• 38:02
Speaker 10: you know both you guys play special teams at a
• 38:04
Speaker 10: high level. We claimed you guys because we both you know,
• 38:07
Speaker 10: we wanted a guy that can contribute the team, and
• 38:10
Speaker 10: then we wanted the guy that had the potential to
• 38:12
Speaker 10: grow into a dependable receiver and ultimately that that one
• 38:17
Speaker 10: on one sets since is the reason why we kept you.
• 38:19
Speaker 10: So you know, it's just like you said, relationships is
• 38:23
Speaker 10: taking advantage of the moment. It's providing the right energy,
• 38:26
Speaker 10: being a guy that can learn on the move, or
• 38:29
Speaker 10: just all that places to have in the longevity in
• 38:32
  Speaker 10: the NFL.
• 38:35
  Speaker 3: I never I honestly, I don't know that I've ever
• 38:37
Speaker 3: heard of like going like one on one, Like I've
• 38:40
Speaker 3: seen guys try out and have competition.
• 38:42
  Speaker 2: That's a great stort.
• 38:43
Speaker 5: I mean, CHP, especially after signed right, like yeah, you
• 38:46
Speaker 5: go and do your workouts trying to get signed.
• 38:48
Speaker 2: But yeah, you're right, like you.
• 38:49
Speaker 3: Already signed your claim and Chef like think about like
• 38:52
Speaker 3: what that did, like that one twenty minute period, Like
• 38:56
Speaker 3: what that did for your life, and like you know,
• 38:58
Speaker 3: it could go in one way or another, it certainly
• 39:01
Speaker 3: went your way and you earn that spot there, but
• 39:03
Speaker 3: just do you think about like what that moment meant
• 39:06
Speaker 3: for your life and like where you're at now successful
• 39:08
Speaker 3: businessman and all the things you're doing.
• 39:11
Speaker 10: Oh man, it's everything, man, you know, it just kind
• 39:13
Speaker 10: of gave me a true understanding of just capturing the moment,
• 39:18
Speaker 10: you know, just being grateful for the opportunity, you know,
• 39:21
Speaker 10: to see the glass half full not empty. All these
• 39:23
Speaker 10: things just leading to having a positive mindset, just preparing
• 39:28
Speaker 10: and joining the process. I mean that's kind of led
• 39:31
Speaker 10: me into entrepreneurship because while I was in the league,
• 39:34
Speaker 10: like you two guys who were both mentors and just
• 39:36
Speaker 10: you know, leaders to guys like me, time at you
• 39:39
Speaker 10: the Jordan Jeffersons of the world. Like you know, it's
• 39:42
Speaker 10: all about being present, having your seat grounded, and making
• 39:46
Speaker 10: the impact what you're at. And then, like I said
• 39:48
Speaker 10: in Breaking you know, the competition. One thing about an
• 39:51
Speaker 10: LSU player in the NFL, whether it's Jason Light from
• 39:55
Speaker 10: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is Howie Roseman. Whomever you're talking
• 39:59
Speaker 10: to LSU players, they come to get us because we
• 40:03
Speaker 10: compete at a high level and we got a little
• 40:05
Speaker 10: sucking to us. So, you know, that was one thing
• 40:08
Speaker 10: that was grateful for, you know, being in that rum
• 40:11
Speaker 10: being a part of, you know, the program, is that
• 40:14
Speaker 10: we had a little edginess to us, but also too
• 40:17
Speaker 10: we were great, you know, great, just great young men.
• 40:19
Speaker 10: So it's a special thing being a part of, you know,
• 40:22
  Speaker 10: that purpolement goal.
• 40:24
Speaker 5: And kind of to that note, let's pick your brain
• 40:26
Speaker 5: a little bit about the twenty twenty five unless you Tigers.
• 40:29
Speaker 5: Have you been keeping up whether you follow it? What
• 40:32
Speaker 5: are your thoughts going into the season with just the
• 40:35
Speaker 5: weapons at receiver, the weapons at quarterback and everything.
• 40:39
  Speaker 2: What's your what's you're outlook on it?
• 40:42
Speaker 10: Man? So you know, I spend a lot of time
• 40:43
Speaker 10: at the school now with us doing business you know
• 40:46
Speaker 10: out there, So you know, I spent a lot of
• 40:49
Speaker 10: time around a lot of young guys.
• 40:50
  Speaker 6: Man.
• 40:51
Speaker 10: Most I've been around the school really since I've been
• 40:53
Speaker 10: in school, and you know, I will say this is
• 40:56
Speaker 10: the closest team that I've seen since that twenty nineteen
• 41:00
Speaker 10: twenty team, the national championship team. I think, you know,
• 41:04
  Speaker 10: I hate a QB man. I think he has a
• 41:08
Speaker 10: good grasp of the team. I think they they follow him.
• 41:12
Speaker 10: I think he leaves. He kind of reminds me of you,
• 41:14
Speaker 10: Matt Very. He leads from the front quite you know,
• 41:17
Speaker 10: it doesn't say too much, peaks upone needed, you know.
• 41:21
Speaker 10: I just you know, at the end of the day,
• 41:24
Speaker 10: this game that revolves so much around you know, distributing
• 41:27
Speaker 10: the football, so the quarterback position is just turned too
• 41:30
Speaker 10: such just you know, part of you know, wins and losses.
• 41:34
Speaker 10: So I definitely think it starts with with with our guy.
• 41:38
Speaker 10: I think he's in the right position to lead and
• 41:40
Speaker 10: kind of take us to where we need to go.
• 41:42
Speaker 10: And I think from the offensive line to all the
• 41:44
Speaker 10: skill guys, you know, the young guys on defense. I
• 41:48
Speaker 10: just think, you know, coach has he kin't got a good,
• 41:51
Speaker 10: you know, opportunity man to capture, but I think it's
• 41:54
Speaker 10: a great opportunity to take the crown.
• 41:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, before we let you go, man, I'm so proud
• 42:00
Speaker 3: of like everything you've done post playing as well and
• 42:03
  Speaker 3: doing big things.
• 42:04
Speaker 2: And I know you mentioned being an entrepreneur there.
• 42:07
Speaker 3: Tell us a little bit and tell our listeners about
• 42:09
Speaker 3: check Boys Waste Management, what you're doing, where you're doing it,
• 42:12
Speaker 3: and kind of all these things you've got going.
• 42:14
  Speaker 2: On right now.
• 42:16
Speaker 10: I appreciate it, brother. So you know, in year twenty twenty,
• 42:20
Speaker 10: man I told the time with the Baltimore Raven, I
• 42:23
Speaker 10: didn't think we were going to have NFL season COVID.
• 42:26
Speaker 10: I was like, hide in the hell, We're going to
• 42:28
Speaker 10: drink in the sand, water bottles cowers in the locker room.
• 42:31
Speaker 10: But you know, me and my family came together. We
• 42:34
Speaker 10: thought we can start this crazy you know I did,
• 42:37
Speaker 10: which is a Porter Partty company. So I retired two
• 42:40
Speaker 10: days before the season in twenty twenty. Man, I call
• 42:43
Speaker 10: coach Hardball and I told him I was gonna retire.
• 42:45
Speaker 10: He's like, shut what the hell about to start training counting.
• 42:49
Speaker 10: I was like, I'm about about to hop in the
• 42:50
Speaker 10: Porter Partty truck. And you know, he thought I was
• 42:53
