- 0:14Speaker 1: This is Kevin Sports very daily here back in the
- 0:17Speaker 1: chair after three weeks in Cyprus. Well, we only got
- 0:29Speaker 1: back last night, very late, and you know it's not
- 0:33Speaker 1: a good into holidays. It the planes delayed forty five
- 0:36Speaker 1: minutes and we hit overnight diversions. The twenty three was
- 0:41Speaker 1: shut and we diverted off the twenty five around Maidstone
- 0:49Speaker 1: right back and focus then about bus three in the morning.
- 0:52Speaker 1: So not much sport prepared for today. But bear with me.
- 0:56Speaker 1: If your radio goes quiet, just give it a kick
- 0:59Speaker 1: and wake me up. But we had a great time
- 1:02Speaker 1: and I'll be telling you a little bit about that
- 1:04Speaker 1: later on. But I do have some sport news. I
- 1:06Speaker 1: did do a little bit of research. I've got reports
- 1:10Speaker 1: on the local cricket scene, some netball results, the disability football,
- 1:16Speaker 1: the wheelchair basketball news, and the story about a man
- 1:20Speaker 1: called Carl who, as I speak, is running a two
- 1:24Speaker 1: hundred mile e race. So it's never dull here at radio, folks,
- 1:30Speaker 1: and especially when it comes to the sport anyway. The
- 1:41Speaker 1: first track up on the playlist is one of my
- 1:44Speaker 1: all time favorites. I Must Have Met is a cover
- 1:48Speaker 1: version of a fantastic song made famous by the Small
- 1:52Speaker 1: faces that this is m people's version of Itchy Koo
- 1:56Speaker 1: Park the Bridge ASA nineteen ninety four. You did, it's
- 2:58Speaker 1: a coop out there, But I I wass have this
- 3:00Speaker 1: argument with myself. Do I prefer the original or the
- 3:04Speaker 1: cover version? Now some songs you just the original every time?
- 3:08Speaker 1: But you know what, that one's pretty close. I love
- 3:10Speaker 1: that song. Okay. Now, then while I was away, right, yeah, okay,
- 3:16Speaker 1: I kept in touch, but I didn't want to do
- 3:18Speaker 1: too much because I wasn't holiday, you know. And what
- 3:22Speaker 1: do I see? That the Sports Center is due to
- 3:25Speaker 1: reopen in conjunction with Roger Dehannt and the Sports Trust?
- 3:29Speaker 1: I mean, what good news is that for this town?
- 3:33Speaker 1: I mean, how many people were excuse me, how many
- 3:36Speaker 1: people were devastated when these news about the sports Center
- 3:40Speaker 1: hit the headlines and it was closing And it was
- 3:43Speaker 1: so sudden, wasn't it a lot of people, even the
- 3:45Speaker 1: staff and well, I didn't know much about it. And
- 3:49Speaker 1: it's been a while. It wasn't out some months ago
- 3:52Speaker 1: that somebody got hold of it, but again it was
- 3:55Speaker 1: kept under wraps, but it was finally released. Was it
- 3:58Speaker 1: last week that it's going to reopen? Now? No doubt
- 4:02Speaker 1: there will be another delay in only a serious delay
- 4:05Speaker 1: because they've got to reassess the building, you know, the
- 4:08Speaker 1: things like the swimming pool obviously, all the equipment, and
- 4:12Speaker 1: it's got to be health and safety risk assessments done.
- 4:16Speaker 1: But what a step in the right direction. I mean,
- 4:20Speaker 1: sort of knocking the place down and building another sports
- 4:23Speaker 1: center somewhere else, which was really never never going to happen,
- 4:27Speaker 1: was it. And so we've got to, you know, give
- 4:30Speaker 1: Roger Dehant and a sports trust a massive pound the
- 4:33Speaker 1: back and for the sake of this town, and no doubt,
- 4:37Speaker 1: as the news breaks a bit more formally, if you like,
- 4:41Speaker 1: we will, we definitely will try, and we've got contacts
- 4:44Speaker 1: at the Sports Trust and we will get someone in
- 4:48Speaker 1: to tell us all the latest exactly what's going on.
- 4:52Speaker 1: So that was a great bit of sports news to
- 4:55Speaker 1: come back to now. Just like I say, I've been away,
- 4:59Speaker 1: been on hold, and I might tell you about it
- 5:01Speaker 1: if i'll get time. I don't want to bore you
- 5:02Speaker 1: too much, but it was good fun at three weeks
- 5:05Speaker 1: in Cyprus. But I've done a bit of research today
- 5:07Speaker 1: and I've got to call up with some cricket news,
- 5:10Speaker 1: local cricket so a crack on with that now folks
- 5:14Speaker 1: the first eleven lost their home to Bickley Park by
- 5:16Speaker 1: seventeen runs and this Saturday they are away to Leeds
- 5:20Speaker 1: and Broomfield, which doesn't mean to trip up north, it
- 5:23Speaker 1: means a trip up the twenty to leeds Castle region.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Now folks that have only played two league games, having
- 5:30Speaker 1: a one to one and lost one, and they are
- 5:32Speaker 1: in the Championship section of the Kent Cricket League, having
- 5:35Speaker 1: beaten at Bromley Common the week before. Hive Cricket Club
- 5:39Speaker 1: won their first game beating a Saint Lawrence and Highland
- 5:41Speaker 1: Court thirty eleven by sixty runs. And on Saturday there
- 5:45Speaker 1: are homes of Willsborough. Now they play their cricket in
- 5:48Speaker 1: Division eight in the Shepherd Section that is also in
- 5:51Speaker 1: the Kent Cricket League. I have green. Last Saturday I
- 5:55Speaker 1: traveled away to play a Whitstaball thirt eleven and won
- 5:58Speaker 1: the match by eight wickets. Opener's opener's James Wybrow owned
- 6:02Speaker 1: Paddy Cox, scoring seventy six of the one hundred and
- 6:06Speaker 1: three runs needed. This week the Greener at home to
- 6:10Speaker 1: a local rival Saltwood. That should be a good match
- 6:12Speaker 1: and that's in Division nine of the Shepherd Section. Meanwhile,
- 6:15Speaker 1: Saltwood last week beat Kennington by four wickets. Sipton Park
- 6:20Speaker 1: beat up Church in the away fixture by nineteen runs.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Then on Saturday it's a home to Offham Cricket Club.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Now I must admit I didn't know where that was.
- 6:28Speaker 1: I don't know whether they've just come up into this division,
- 6:31Speaker 1: but Offham Cricket Club they will be traveling down from
- 6:35Speaker 1: West Morling and that's in Division five of the Crent
- 6:38Speaker 1: Kent Cricket League Hurricane Section and haw and finally Hawkins
- 6:44Speaker 1: last week beat Ash by nine wickets and Saturday they
- 6:47Speaker 1: are at home to betts and Colliery in Division eight
- 6:51Speaker 1: of the Shepherd Section. Now next week I'll be doing
- 6:54Speaker 1: some research into the Kent Cricket League. I did it
- 6:56Speaker 1: last year and it's quite amazing, absolutely how many two
- 7:00Speaker 1: tames and how many divisions and some of these names,
- 7:02Speaker 1: like Division eight Shepherd Section, there is a little link
- 7:05Speaker 1: there to the Kent Cricket Fraternity. So I'm going to
- 7:10Speaker 1: try and you know, check it all out so we
- 7:13Speaker 1: can make a bit of sense of it. But there
- 7:16Speaker 1: is so much cricket in ken you won't believe it.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I'll do you. I'll try to stort it out, let
- 7:21Speaker 1: you know. So now I'm back. I've checked the weather
- 7:24Speaker 1: for Saturday's games, looking forward to a nice sunny day
- 7:26Speaker 1: for cricket. But you know what, it's typical. It doesn't
- 7:29Speaker 1: look too good and it could be a few games
- 7:32Speaker 1: left with Rainstop play, Oh dear, welcome home anyway. This
- 7:37Speaker 1: one is from nineteen ninety eight, and this is the cause,
- 7:40Speaker 1: and so young, that's the cause. There are nineteen ninety
- 8:04Speaker 1: eight and like I say, unfortunately I've had too much
- 8:09Speaker 1: time to do some sport. But so it'd be a
- 8:11Speaker 1: lot of chatting and telling you about my holiday later on.
- 8:15Speaker 1: But when was in holiday? I mean we were away
- 8:18Speaker 1: for three weeks, so you do miss your family. Me
- 8:22Speaker 1: and missus Ferry. We both got grandchildren and so it
- 8:24Speaker 1: was nice to keep in touch with them with this
- 8:26Speaker 1: wonderful thing called FaceTime. I mean, isn't it good when
- 8:30Speaker 1: you use it properly? We were in Cyprus and my
- 8:35Speaker 1: grandchildren were in Bogner Butling's on their little holiday, the
- 8:41Speaker 1: little family holiday, and had a chat with him, soho's
- 8:44Speaker 1: the children? Grandchildren hadn't been anywhere. They're in focus. But
- 8:49Speaker 1: they were excited because one of them, Isabella, went to
- 8:53Speaker 1: see Oli Murs at the O two and she was
- 8:56Speaker 1: telling us all about that. But the main thing was
- 9:00Speaker 1: I still trouble getting my head around it. I'm old fashioned,
- 9:03Speaker 1: I know. But she had a friend in I Beefer right.
- 9:08Speaker 1: She went on holiday to ide Beefa with some of
- 9:09Speaker 1: her friends and they went to a nineties festival and
- 9:13Speaker 1: we were talking to her from Cypress to I Beefa
- 9:16Speaker 1: and she was telling us all about this nineties festival
- 9:18Speaker 1: and that all of a sudden she'd become in love
- 9:21Speaker 1: with Ronan Keating. So, Fern, this is one for you.
- 9:25Speaker 1: This is the best one I could ever find. I
- 9:27Speaker 1: love this. It makes me think of mister Bean, so
- 9:30Speaker 1: please enjoy this. Fern. Let me go, boys, I owned
- 9:53Speaker 1: a ninety ninety seven and if you've watched to Hit
- 9:57Speaker 1: her clip on YouTube, I had to track it down.
- 9:59Speaker 1: It does show miss been in there and they're all
- 10:01Speaker 1: messing about and they all came down to his level,
- 10:04Speaker 1: you know. But what a great look song. That is
- 10:08Speaker 1: right time for a better sport now. So I've got
- 10:10Speaker 1: a report now from the folks in the Victor Disability team.
- 10:13Speaker 1: The manager Garret Wilson. Now, while I was away, they
- 10:17Speaker 1: played a game against a team called Everett Rovers, who
- 10:20Speaker 1: traveled down from Watford. And it's just as easy for
- 10:23Speaker 1: me to read out the whole report and so you
- 10:25Speaker 1: can get the flavor of how the game went. Okay,
- 10:28Speaker 1: So in Victor got off to a fast start and
- 10:30Speaker 1: created a chance which was fired wide. However, as at Chelsea,
- 10:35Speaker 1: in Victor gave away a penalty when John was a
- 10:37Speaker 1: judge to foul. Wayne saved the penalty, and in Victor
- 10:40Speaker 1: made Everett pay when good link up play saw Troy Kurl,
- 10:44Speaker 1: Homly Opener, Mark Jordan and Peter all defended well. The
- 10:49Speaker 1: second goal was a move of quality, with Troyett, Riley
- 10:52Speaker 1: and Billy combining then crossing for Kert at the firepost
- 10:56Speaker 1: to flick it in for the second, and Victor went
- 10:58Speaker 1: close to adding a third three her Sonny every It
- 11:01Speaker 1: pulled one back when they broke through after a ball
- 11:03Speaker 1: over the top allowed to forward to shot on goal
- 11:06Speaker 1: and he scored. Wayne was alert to another shot and
- 11:09Speaker 1: he pushed that one onto the bar. In the second half,
- 11:12Speaker 1: in Victor came out of the blocks fast, good into
- 11:15Speaker 1: play with Paul and Troy put curtain and he scored
- 11:18Speaker 1: through the keeper's legs. Two minutes later, good present from
- 11:21Speaker 1: Sonny saw the ball won back in midfield and Sonny
- 11:24Speaker 1: was sent through to score. The fifth came not long after,
- 11:28Speaker 1: Sunny following up after a Troy shot was blocked. Harry
- 11:31Speaker 1: had a chance and blocked a corner and Jared also
- 11:34Speaker 1: had a chance. Kyle was defended well as he mustn't
- 11:38Speaker 1: forget the defenders and all this. However, in Victor got
- 11:40Speaker 1: caught out of the back and the ball found the
- 11:42Speaker 1: net from an ever forward. Christian and Brody came on
- 11:45Speaker 1: late in the game to add fresh legs in Victor
- 11:48Speaker 1: c in the game out and Garrett said that what
- 11:51Speaker 1: they've been doing in training paid off despite missing three players.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Everyone worked their sucks off. So there you go. That's
- 11:57Speaker 1: the little summing up from Garrett and the final score.
- 12:00Speaker 1: There was a focusing in Victor disability team five. Everett
- 12:04Speaker 1: rove us from what for two Just to recap the
- 12:07Speaker 1: goals came from Troy. He got one, Kurt got two
- 12:10Speaker 1: and Sonny got too and the man in the match
- 12:13Speaker 1: he must have had a good game, Troy Harding. So
- 12:15Speaker 1: the next game is a way to Clacton on Sunday
- 12:18Speaker 1: the first of June. So big thanks to form of
- 12:21Speaker 1: guests to the show, Garret Wilson sending in that report
- 12:23Speaker 1: and keep them coming in, Garrett. We want to know
- 12:26Speaker 1: how you got on in Clacton right times and music
- 12:30Speaker 1: now and we got this one. Butore, this is a
- 12:32Speaker 1: late one twenty fifteen. One direction, Drag me down. I've
- 12:38Speaker 1: got fire for a heart. I'm not scared of the dark.
- 12:42Speaker 1: You've never seen it look so down. One direction there,
- 12:51Speaker 1: dragged me down. I got some netball news now. Now
- 12:55Speaker 1: got some results from the fourteenth of May. It's a
- 12:57Speaker 1: big thank you to Danielle Black for the so well
- 13:02Speaker 1: you know the format. This is how it goes. I
- 13:04Speaker 1: give out the scores for each team and then the
- 13:06Speaker 1: name of the star player for that particular team. So
- 13:09Speaker 1: here we go Jets thirty nine, Charlotte Diamonds sixteen, Jess
- 13:16Speaker 1: Vipers fifty four, Amy Ice seventeen, Page Black, Widows twenty nine,
- 13:24Speaker 1: Amanda Stingrays six and this Star of the matches was
- 13:29Speaker 1: shared by Amy and Mayer and Mrston forty nine, Linda
- 13:35Speaker 1: and Tigers twenty and Natalie. So big thank you to
- 13:39Speaker 1: Danielle and If you want to find out anything about netball,
- 13:44Speaker 1: then you can go to the netball page Folkston and
- 13:47Speaker 1: Netball League. It's on Facebook, and just send Daniel a question.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I mean, if you want to know anything about training,
- 13:52Speaker 1: perhaps you want to come along, Perhaps you have just
- 13:55Speaker 1: moved to the town and you want to find out
- 13:57Speaker 1: the netball scene here in Folkston, then just give Daniel
- 14:00Speaker 1: a little message. Now some wheelpair wheelchair basketball. Now again
- 14:06Speaker 1: the wonders of modern technology. I was in Cyprus and
- 14:10Speaker 1: I watched two games from the Folks and Arrows. Yeah,
- 14:15Speaker 1: how good is that? Well it was good, but unfortunately
- 14:19Speaker 1: the results wasn't too too clever for the Arrows. So
- 14:22Speaker 1: let me just read this little write up and then
- 14:24Speaker 1: we'll have a little chat. Now what they did. They
- 14:28Speaker 1: were in the playoffs and they were all played at
- 14:30Speaker 1: the University of Worcester. Now, the Arrows faced Swansea Storm
- 14:34Speaker 1: but sadly lost this one of fifty five thirty five
- 14:37Speaker 1: in the semi final. But then they came up against
- 14:40Speaker 1: Jaguars from Nottingham who were on top form, beating the
- 14:43Speaker 1: Arrows fifty one twenty eight. But you must remember, right,
- 14:47Speaker 1: this was the playoffs where the teams were the best
- 14:50Speaker 1: in the country at Division three of the National League.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I mean, but there were teams from places like Nottingham
- 14:56Speaker 1: Swansea who got a much much bigger catchment area, massive towns,
- 15:01Speaker 1: you know, much bigger than Folks then, So the Arrows
- 15:04Speaker 1: have done really well to represent Folks in the national
- 15:06Speaker 1: competition and they've done wonders in the name of the
- 15:09Speaker 1: town and the sport. So a big well done moscoach
- 15:12Speaker 1: with Ben and Becky Potter and all the Arrows players,
- 15:15Speaker 1: and I look forward to following your next season. Actually,
- 15:19Speaker 1: now we did have them Ben and Becky in a
- 15:22Speaker 1: few weeks ago. They were so knowledgeable and they loved
- 15:25Speaker 1: their sport. They really did. So let me just point
- 15:27Speaker 1: out actually that the Arrows still gain promotion. Now. The
- 15:31Speaker 1: playoffs were just to find out who is the best
- 15:33Speaker 1: team throughout the country at this level. So the level
- 15:37Speaker 1: was the National League Division three and the Arrows play
- 15:41Speaker 1: in the South, so there's other regions out there and
- 15:44Speaker 1: they all got together to play just to see who
- 15:48Speaker 1: was the best team in the country. But didn't mean
- 15:51Speaker 1: anything else. It does mean that the Arrows go up
- 15:54Speaker 1: and I shall certainly be looking forward to following them again.
- 15:57Speaker 1: And see if we can get Ben and Becky in now.
- 16:00Speaker 1: As I was saying at the start of this little
- 16:02Speaker 1: clip that we were in Cypress, and I picked up
- 16:05Speaker 1: on the link that Becky put on her Facebook page
- 16:09Speaker 1: allowing me in Cypress to watch live live streaming for nothing.
- 16:15Speaker 1: These the both the Arrows games and from Worcester. So
- 16:18Speaker 1: good is that? To be fair? The other two teams
- 16:21Speaker 1: they were pretty tough. I've seen I've seen the Arrows
- 16:24Speaker 1: play a few times and I don't know they've they've
- 16:28Speaker 1: they whitewashed. This is the southern section here. They went
- 16:32Speaker 1: through the season unbeaten, but perhaps up in the north
- 16:35Speaker 1: or in the central, the middle of the middle of
- 16:38Speaker 1: the country, places like Nottingham and on the west there Swansea.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Like as I said before, much much bigger catchment area,
- 16:45Speaker 1: got lots more players to choose from. And I mean
- 16:48Speaker 1: all the players in the Arrows don't all come from Folkston.
- 16:51Speaker 1: They come from all over the place. In fact, because
- 16:54Speaker 1: the Arrows are the only wheelchair basketball team in Kent,
- 16:57Speaker 1: so that makes it an even better achievement. And what
- 17:00Speaker 1: they've done up there, right, Okay, so we're going to
- 17:03Speaker 1: play this one now, and this is one that I
- 17:07Speaker 1: heard quite a bit on holiday actually because this is
- 17:09Speaker 1: a cover, not a cover, but it's a version that
- 17:12Speaker 1: a lot of groups love to play. And this is
- 17:15Speaker 1: called the End of the Line by the Traveling Wilbury's
- 17:22Speaker 1: Simple Minds there for one night only, and I'm sorry
- 17:26Speaker 1: about that. I am a bit out of practice, don't
- 17:28Speaker 1: you love a live radio Yeah, I have no excuses
- 17:31Speaker 1: for that one. I was looking straight at the Traveling
- 17:35Speaker 1: Wilbury's end of the Line, but the indicator of the
- 17:38Speaker 1: queued up indicator wasn't pointed at it, so I hit
- 17:42Speaker 1: the wrong button. But I'll try and to play that
- 17:44Speaker 1: later on.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Right.
- 17:46Speaker 1: So now then I've had a message from a gentleman
- 17:50Speaker 1: called Carl Fraser. Now kyl Is as we speak, is
- 17:53Speaker 1: doing a massive challenge now an Ultra marathon, right and
- 17:57Speaker 1: anything ultra is marathon is twenty six point two. Anything
- 18:03Speaker 1: Ultra is over the twenty six point two right now, Carl,
- 18:08Speaker 1: as he heard about a race is called the Wild
- 18:11Speaker 1: Horse two hundred and I, believe it or not, it's
- 18:14Speaker 1: a two hundred mile event, two hundred miles. He's running
- 18:18Speaker 1: from Chepstow to Wormshead on the west coast of Wales.
- 18:22Speaker 1: The race itself has got thirty thousand foot of elevation
- 18:25Speaker 1: and that's the height of Mount Everest. What he told
- 18:28Speaker 1: me he thought it was way beyond what he was
- 18:31Speaker 1: capable of and he's still incredibly daunted by it, but
- 18:35Speaker 1: he's looking forward to it and so much. He spent
- 18:37Speaker 1: many months training for it and has had several trips
- 18:40Speaker 1: to Wales to practice on parts of the route. So
- 18:44Speaker 1: what he told me was that he felt so lucky
- 18:46Speaker 1: that they got the North Downs here on our doorstep
- 18:48Speaker 1: and he's trained a lot there which is pretty rugged. Now.
- 18:51Speaker 1: The longest single run he did this is just a
- 18:53Speaker 1: single run listened to. This was from Folkston to Dover,
- 18:56Speaker 1: then he went to Canterbury, who went to Wyre and
- 18:59Speaker 1: then backs to Folkston. That was about sixty miles. Now,
- 19:02Speaker 1: what he's doing is aiming to raise as much money
- 19:04Speaker 1: and awareness for a group called Action on Homelessness, which
- 19:10Speaker 1: is in Folkestone and it's a charity and he regularly
- 19:14Speaker 1: volunteers for it. So he started yesterday at six o'clock.
- 19:20Speaker 1: So say, he did ask me about we were going
- 19:24Speaker 1: to try and get him in on the show. But
- 19:26Speaker 1: what we do we give him a few weeks to
- 19:28Speaker 1: recover and then we see if we can get him in.
- 19:31Speaker 1: So now Carl has raised over nine hundred pounds of
- 19:34Speaker 1: the one thousand pounds target. And as I said, this
- 19:36Speaker 1: money is going for a charity called Action on Homelessness,
- 19:41Speaker 1: which is in Folkston. So good luck to you, Carl,
- 19:45Speaker 1: and I just hope we can catch up with you
- 19:49Speaker 1: when it's all over and you have recovered. Right, I'm
- 19:52Speaker 1: going to see if I can hit the right button
- 19:54Speaker 1: for the right song. Now. Now, if all things go
- 19:56Speaker 1: to plan, this is jumping jumping, just Timberlake. What goes
- 20:01Speaker 1: around comes around. Justin Timberlake, what goes around comes around.
- 20:27Speaker 1: I am now going to tell you about what's coming
- 20:29Speaker 1: up on Saturday. Right Saturday, I'll be back a co hosting.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Thank goodness, I don't have to press all the buttons
- 20:37Speaker 1: with ad Adie Dowks. But we have got a guest
- 20:40Speaker 1: who was in just a few weeks ago. Her name
- 20:42Speaker 1: is Ellis and she is the physio at Whitstaville Town
- 20:47Speaker 1: Football Club. Now, when she came in last time, it
- 20:51Speaker 1: was she was so excited because she was going to
- 20:53Speaker 1: Wembley as a part of the physio team. Because Wistable Town.
- 20:58Speaker 1: We're in the final of FA VARs Well once again,
- 21:02Speaker 1: I'm so lucky. Probably if I was in England I
- 21:04Speaker 1: couldn't do it. But in Cyprus I managed to watch
- 21:07Speaker 1: the whole game on the Cypress TV and oh how
- 21:11Speaker 1: exciting was it? And so and it's come on and
- 21:14Speaker 1: saw us several times on the Telly. And also at
- 21:17Speaker 1: the same time, although we didn't see him under Telly,
- 21:20Speaker 1: my colleague and co presenter Adrian Dawks was at Wembley
- 21:25Speaker 1: commentating for Seasiders Radio. And so they are both going
- 21:29Speaker 1: to be here on Saturday. And I'll tell you what,
- 21:31Speaker 1: I don't think I'm going to get a word in
- 21:33Speaker 1: because they would be so excited at swapping stories. And
- 21:36Speaker 1: I especially want to hear from Ellice and just what
- 21:38Speaker 1: it was like. And it only started out if she's
- 21:40Speaker 1: a student at Canterbury University and she wrote to Whitstable
- 21:44Speaker 1: Town asking if she could have a policeman as a physio.
- 21:48Speaker 1: She wrote to a lot of football clubs in whitchtaball
- 21:50Speaker 1: were the only ones that replied, how good is that? Well,
- 21:53Speaker 1: I'm back working on a Sunday, I'll say working, I
- 21:57Speaker 1: should be on the mic as a focused in coastal Ten.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I haven't had much time to prepare, so I've just
- 22:03Speaker 1: got to make a few notes and head down to
- 22:06Speaker 1: the lees there by the Lower Lees Lift. I think
- 22:08Speaker 1: it's sold out, so please come along and spectate it.
- 22:13Speaker 1: And it's also it's going to clash I think with
- 22:16Speaker 1: these folks and rowing club regatta, believe it or not.
- 22:21Speaker 1: It's on the same day and the runners have got
- 22:23Speaker 1: to run past it, but that that point there will
- 22:25Speaker 1: be heavily marshalled. So that's all about Saturday. So let's
- 22:29Speaker 1: see if we squeeze another song in and I'll tell
- 22:32Speaker 1: you what I'm going to play it now. We're going
- 22:34Speaker 1: to play the Traveling Wilbury's and end of the line.
- 22:51Speaker 1: The end of the line, well that's the Traveling Wilberries.
- 22:55Speaker 1: And believe me, it was the Traveling Wilbury's. And I'm
- 23:00Speaker 1: hoping to get a few songs in actually, just to
- 23:05Speaker 1: take us back to Cyprus anyway, my Cypress holiday. I
- 23:10Speaker 1: could go on about it for ours and ours do
- 23:11Speaker 1: a free hour show about it. It was so good,
- 23:14Speaker 1: you know. But it started with a I think called
- 23:17Speaker 1: a path run, not a park run. It's on the
- 23:20Speaker 1: first Sunday of the month. It used to be called
- 23:22Speaker 1: a park run, but there was a bit of slight disagreement,
- 23:25Speaker 1: but we won't go into that. But it's run every
- 23:28Speaker 1: first Sunday of the month and this week sorry, this month,
- 23:33Speaker 1: we happened to be there. There was a total of
- 23:35Speaker 1: eighty eight runners, a lot of locals and obviously a
- 23:39Speaker 1: lot of tourists. A lot of people come along and
- 23:41Speaker 1: they do ask the Pathwors Running Club about the Cypress
- 23:44Speaker 1: Path Run. I mean there was people from Edinburgh, people
- 23:48Speaker 1: from Stamford, a new port in Wales, and there was
- 23:51Speaker 1: one runner there from Za in Russia and they were
- 23:55Speaker 1: under the guidance of the boss, the run director, Sue Cawdrey,
- 23:59Speaker 1: So a big thanks to Sue Caudry there and the
- 24:01Speaker 1: Padfless Running Club. All the volunteers. I try and name
- 24:05Speaker 1: as many as I can. There was Helen, There was Truce.
- 24:08Speaker 1: There was Chris Coleman, he does all the producing the results.
- 24:12Speaker 1: There was Jane and the team. They were selling t shirts.
- 24:15Speaker 1: And a big extra thank you to Alan. Alan is
- 24:18Speaker 1: a great cook. He'd make loads and loads of lovely
- 24:21Speaker 1: flapjacks which were demolished in Steve's Bar after the run.
- 24:26Speaker 1: And now you know I've just running Pathless Running Club.
- 24:28Speaker 1: I was such a friendly, friendly bunch, you know. It's
- 24:30Speaker 1: great to see them on our trips when we go
- 24:32Speaker 1: to Coral Bay. And of course I mustn't forget Andy
- 24:35Speaker 1: and he was at the turnaround point and he took
- 24:38Speaker 1: so many pictures of lots and lots of lovely smiley faces.
- 24:43Speaker 1: And as for me, what did I do? Well, got
- 24:45Speaker 1: to do something. I was the role of the tail
- 24:48Speaker 1: walker Sue Missus Ferrits, who did actually run on the day.
- 24:53Speaker 1: My running days are pretty much over. So what I did.
- 24:55Speaker 1: I chatted for five k with a lovely lady called
- 24:58Speaker 1: Venita who came from Wembley. She was the final walker
- 25:02Speaker 1: runner and she was over with her family and it
- 25:05Speaker 1: was lovely talking to her. And she lives very close
- 25:08Speaker 1: to Wembley Stadium. She can see the arch from her house.
- 25:11Speaker 1: So it's been a bit of a busy place Wembley
- 25:13Speaker 1: Stadium just lately, isn't it. But it really was a
- 25:15Speaker 1: lovely sunny morning. Now, the holiday wasn't all about running,
- 25:19Speaker 1: although I did have a couple of Saturday morning run
- 25:22Speaker 1: walks with the Pawfus Running Club who meet on a Saturday,
- 25:25Speaker 1: as I said, and they have a breakfast at a
- 25:27Speaker 1: lovely name of Frog and Toad. This is a little
- 25:30Speaker 1: bar cafe and it was celebrating the tenth anniversary, so
- 25:35Speaker 1: it meant a couple of Saturday afternoons listening to some
- 25:37Speaker 1: great live music. So I'm going to play a couple
- 25:40Speaker 1: of tracks and just take that. These tracks really got
- 25:44Speaker 1: us all dancing. They really did. So we're going to
- 25:47Speaker 1: start with Yeah, I think we'll have that one, and
- 25:50Speaker 1: then we're certainly going to chuck this one in and
- 25:55Speaker 1: just see if this would get you up on the
- 25:57Speaker 1: dance floor.
- 26:13Speaker 2: I want to.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Well, I'm going to cut somebod these song short because
- 26:23Speaker 1: I want to squeeze a couple in. And that was
- 26:26Speaker 1: rolling Stones painted black and old people do get up,
- 26:28Speaker 1: we do Dad's dancing. We're all over the place, but
- 26:31Speaker 1: we actually love it. And now there was another one
- 26:33Speaker 1: that's really got the crowd rooking, and that was this one.
- 26:44Speaker 1: I did my best to notice.
- 26:48Speaker 2: When the call came down the line up to the
- 26:52Speaker 2: platform of surrender, I was brought but I was kind.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Sound that's the killers there. And that was another one
- 27:06Speaker 1: that we really enjoyed a holiday. And there's a group
- 27:10Speaker 1: there that they left that one till last, and honestly
- 27:14Speaker 1: the dance floor was packed. Now it was, like I say,
- 27:16Speaker 1: it wasn't all about running. We found ourselves at a
- 27:19Speaker 1: classic car show where friends of ours David and Anne,
- 27:22Speaker 1: were showing off. There nineteen sixty six of Volkswagon bootle
- 27:25Speaker 1: loads of the UK cars there. So we had a
- 27:27Speaker 1: lovely afternoon with them. And on another day we went walking.
- 27:30Speaker 1: There's a walking group. This lovely lady, she's Dutch, she's
- 27:35Speaker 1: from the Netherlands. Her name is Truce, and myself Andy,
- 27:40Speaker 1: Jane and twenty four other people's when she took us
- 27:43Speaker 1: on a walk. She does it every week. She picks
- 27:46Speaker 1: out some lovely, lovely, beautiful venues that we would never
- 27:50Speaker 1: ever find in Cyprus. And it's a great it's a
- 27:52Speaker 1: great because the regime goes like this. You pull up
- 27:56Speaker 1: in the car park, you go in the restaurant, you
- 27:58Speaker 1: order your lunch and you go and avalunche when you
- 28:01Speaker 1: come back. Now there all was. There are always hot ones.
- 28:04Speaker 1: When we got over it was quite hilly and there
- 28:07Speaker 1: was one last little hill just before we got back
- 28:10Speaker 1: to the car park. So Truce, this one is for you.
- 28:13Speaker 1: It wasn't quite five hundred miles, but it was a
- 28:16Speaker 1: pretty tough one.
- 28:21Speaker 2: To you.
- 28:28Speaker 1: I'm miles and hell Yard. There was for Truce and
- 28:50Speaker 1: the Paths Running Club, walking group. Once again, I'm cutting
- 28:54Speaker 1: that short. It's just another couple of cheek, cheeky ones.
- 28:56Speaker 1: I want to get in and I don't want to
- 28:58Speaker 1: get there in with this one. When I was right,
- 29:00Speaker 1: I was running with two lovely ladies called Janet and Anne,
- 29:05Speaker 1: and and Janney was watching her garment thing, and we
- 29:09Speaker 1: got to a point where she says, oh, we've done
- 29:11Speaker 1: two point seven two point seven kilometers we do we
- 29:15Speaker 1: go up to three kilometers, then we turn around and
- 29:18Speaker 1: we'd come back. And I mean they could talk for England,
- 29:22Speaker 1: these two. They were just talk talk, talking, And I
- 29:26Speaker 1: said to Janet, how far we done? Now? Is old?
- 29:31Speaker 1: We've done three point four So they were none stop
- 29:33Speaker 1: talking for a nearly. I don't know, it's just it's
- 29:37Speaker 1: just so funny anyway, honest is this one in? This
- 29:39Speaker 1: is for you, Janey and Anne. You's got a talking
- 29:42Speaker 1: club with a running problem. Rabbit rabbit, rabbit, rabbit, rabbit, rabbit, rabbit, rabbit.
- 29:51Speaker 1: You've got a beautiful team. You've got beautiful skin, You've.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Got a beautiful base, you got taste, you got beautiful eyes,
- 30:08Speaker 2: you've got beautiful fine, you all a lot down. What
- 30:16Speaker 2: I'm thinking about blowing you out? God, your wife stopped talking.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Why don't you give it a rest?
- 30:24Speaker 1: Okay, coming to the end of the show now, But
- 30:26Speaker 1: I do, I do want to give lots of people
- 30:28Speaker 1: a mentioned before we go. I want to say thanks
- 30:32Speaker 1: for making it such a great holiday. Cazio, Martin, Johanna, Jean,
- 30:35Speaker 1: Mick and Vander Stephen, Janet and Brian and Dion and
- 30:40Speaker 1: we will be back next year online at Radio Folkston
