- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:03Speaker 2: I say Hester and Hester got it fata far.
- 0:07Speaker 1: From carrying each other to and Natty to carrying each other.
- 0:11Speaker 3: On the air were control.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Live from the Raising Caines studio.
- 0:19Speaker 4: It's off the Bench.
- 0:40Speaker 5: All right, welcome back in o TV. Here a lot
- 0:42Speaker 5: from the Raising Caines studio. It is Tuesday at nine am.
- 0:45Speaker 5: So we catch up brother guy, Nick Underhill, New Orleans
- 0:47Speaker 5: Dots football, Nicholas, how are.
- 0:49Speaker 4: We doing, sir?
- 0:51Speaker 2: Oh's doing great?
- 0:52Speaker 4: How you doing doing great? So, you know, Matt and
- 0:54Speaker 4: I are a little bit older.
- 0:56Speaker 5: So like trends, we typically don't hear them until they're
- 0:59Speaker 5: way outdated. But Alandra, being one of the youths here
- 1:02Speaker 5: on the show, she just brought a trend to the airwaves.
- 1:07Speaker 5: And it's like somebody you find attractive that maybe others don't.
- 1:11Speaker 4: It's hear me out.
- 1:11Speaker 5: Hear me out right, Yeah, like hear me out, like
- 1:13Speaker 5: you know, you got to kind of hear me out
- 1:16Speaker 5: this person.
- 1:18Speaker 3: So mine was willing to foe just like as an example.
- 1:20Speaker 5: Yeah, Martha Stewart's name was thrown around the studio here
- 1:24Speaker 5: as well. So Nick, before we get started with Saints.
- 1:27Speaker 5: Who is the hear me out?
- 1:31Speaker 2: Uh? You know, I only got eyes for the most
- 1:32Speaker 2: beautiful woman I've ever seen in my life, and that's
- 1:35Speaker 2: my wife, So like, I don't have to hear me out, Like,
- 1:37Speaker 2: I just love my wife and she's number one on
- 1:40Speaker 2: my list and the only one on my list.
- 1:44Speaker 3: I hate that answer so much.
- 1:46Speaker 4: I mean, I just.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Said, but I'm just putting you all on game. Man,
- 1:52Speaker 2: like you we're gonna say some ship and hear me out. Okay,
- 1:58Speaker 2: all right, all rightublic spaces.
- 2:00Speaker 4: All right, all right, but you're a lot of fun
- 2:03Speaker 4: at parties.
- 2:04Speaker 5: All right, Nick, let's get into the New Orleans Saints.
- 2:07Speaker 5: I actually saw Mickey Loomis and this most of the
- 2:10Speaker 5: staff over the weekend. Roman Harper was getting into the
- 2:13Speaker 5: Senior Bowl Hall of Fame, and so the Saints showed up,
- 2:15Speaker 5: which was kind of cool. You know, the Saints, they
- 2:19Speaker 5: always kind of show up for stuff like that, and
- 2:21Speaker 5: certainly like the Senior Bowl, they always show up because
- 2:23Speaker 5: they're the closest team and they send everybody. But like,
- 2:26Speaker 5: I've been a part of some organizations that I love,
- 2:29Speaker 5: but they don't send out people like that.
- 2:31Speaker 4: I know.
- 2:31Speaker 5: It's a quick drive overfly over whatever situation is. But
- 2:35Speaker 5: it is very cool to see all I mean, Jeff
- 2:37Speaker 5: Ireland was there, I mean the whole the whole team.
- 2:39Speaker 5: The whole team was there to support Roman Harper, which
- 2:41Speaker 5: I thought was pretty cool.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I've always said this about them, like it kind
- 2:45Speaker 2: of feels like family business here more so you know
- 2:47Speaker 2: some of the other places I've have been like more
- 2:50Speaker 2: corporate atmospheres, and you know, I think that that's that's
- 2:53Speaker 2: kind of maybe the effect too of just having people
- 2:57Speaker 2: that have been around forever and like you kind of
- 2:59Speaker 2: have the continuity and all that stuff, and like there's
- 3:01Speaker 2: real ties and in real history and not just trotting
- 3:04Speaker 2: people out there, like it's it's actually all the same
- 3:07Speaker 2: people all the time and all that stuff. But they definitely,
- 3:10Speaker 2: you know, there's a little bit of a little bit
- 3:12Speaker 2: of heart and soul inside of this thing that that
- 3:14Speaker 2: can be very soulless and heartless at times, but it's
- 3:17Speaker 2: cool to see it kind of come through, and you know,
- 3:20Speaker 2: I definitely think that's there. You know, I know, Mickey
- 3:23Speaker 2: has like a public persona and everything, and he'll be
- 3:25Speaker 2: shrewd and do what he has to do, but you.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Know, he is a.
- 3:28Speaker 2: He is a person that that's going to show up
- 3:31Speaker 2: for people that he cares about, you know, so I
- 3:34Speaker 2: think you see that there.
- 3:36Speaker 4: Yeah, and bringing.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Everybody out is kind of a show of that too,
- 3:40Speaker 2: like you said, Jeff and all and people being out
- 3:41Speaker 2: there like it's it's just kind of how they do
- 3:43Speaker 2: things around here, and and it is nice to see
- 3:45Speaker 2: that that in those moments, like people actually do care
- 3:48Speaker 2: and it's not just, you know, just this cold heartless thing, right.
- 3:53Speaker 4: I think that's probably why, you know, why Mickey has
- 3:57Speaker 4: hung on so long in his job is because of
- 4:00Speaker 4: the way and like you said, it's a little bit
- 4:01Speaker 4: different with the Saints organization. I think in thirty to
- 4:05Speaker 4: thirty one other teams there'd probably be a new GM
- 4:07Speaker 4: in place right now. But look, he's on a heater
- 4:11Speaker 4: right now, and he's making a lot of moves and
- 4:13Speaker 4: there's a lot to be hopeful for for Saints fans.
- 4:16Speaker 4: And so of course the draft was what a week
- 4:18Speaker 4: week and a half ago. Now, now that the dust
- 4:20Speaker 4: has kind of settled and you've had more time to
- 4:23Speaker 4: collect your thoughts, I'm sure do a lot more studying
- 4:25Speaker 4: on all these players. Give us your kind of like
- 4:29Speaker 4: a little after the fact grade and just kind of
- 4:32Speaker 4: talk about the draft and what you've kind of had
- 4:34Speaker 4: time to think about a little bit.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I've just been kind of really looking at the
- 4:39Speaker 2: Oscar dealt pick quite a bit because I think that
- 4:41Speaker 2: that signifies a possible significant change and how they want
- 4:45Speaker 2: to operate overall on offense and just what they do.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Like yesterday I was finishing up I've been working on this,
- 4:52Speaker 2: like this huddle study of just like a I wanted
- 4:57Speaker 2: to see if there were any tells because they operated
- 4:59Speaker 2: with so much. I wanted to see if there were
- 5:00Speaker 2: any tells between run and pass with with you know,
- 5:03Speaker 2: the amount of time they spend in a huddle, Like
- 5:06Speaker 2: is a run call shorter than a pass call because
- 5:08Speaker 2: they're in and out so fast in these sugar huddles.
- 5:10Speaker 2: But more importantly, like the only thing that I really
- 5:13Speaker 2: found that was kind of like indicative of anything is
- 5:16Speaker 2: their substitution patterns. You know, when they go to heavy
- 5:19Speaker 2: from eleven, like it was almost run all the time,
- 5:22Speaker 2: staying in thirteen, going to the next stop snap to thirteen,
- 5:25Speaker 2: it was like eighty percent run percentage. I think delp
- 5:28Speaker 2: someone that changes out like it allows them to get
- 5:30Speaker 2: into these different looks and do different things and line
- 5:33Speaker 2: up different ways, and use all three of these tight
- 5:35Speaker 2: ends and use them advantageously and not have these tells.
- 5:39Speaker 2: I just think we're going to see a more explosive offense.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Like we were talking about this on our show yesterday.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Just where does Shuck end up in fantasy rankings? Not
- 5:47Speaker 2: even just real QB rankings, because I think those are
- 5:50Speaker 2: two different things. But if you put all this firepower
- 5:52Speaker 2: around him, Like, what is the expectation in terms of yardage, touchdowns,
- 5:57Speaker 2: all this stuff. You look back at last year from
- 6:00Speaker 2: from week nine on, he was eighth in the league
- 6:02Speaker 2: in yardage, sixteenth and touchdowns. Now you had another first
- 6:05Speaker 2: round or a wide receiver, you had these two tight ends.
- 6:08Speaker 2: You go out and get the highest paid guard, you
- 6:10Speaker 2: get a new running back, Like, what is the actual
- 6:12Speaker 2: expectation in terms of these numbers at the end of
- 6:14Speaker 2: the season. They're all in on this offense, man, like
- 6:18Speaker 2: it should produce, it should put up numbers, and if
- 6:21Speaker 2: it doesn't, I think it's a drastic disappointment. But I
- 6:25Speaker 2: like the direction of the team. I think it's interesting.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Like you know, for a long time, people around the
- 6:30Speaker 2: league that covered it like there were always a team
- 6:33Speaker 2: that was held up as like the example of like
- 6:34Speaker 2: what not to do. Like all the people that have
- 6:37Speaker 2: hated everything they've done forever, all of a sudden they're like, oh, man,
- 6:40Speaker 2: Like I kind of kind of like what they're doing here,
- 6:42Speaker 2: Like the direction is different. So I mean it does
- 6:45Speaker 2: just kind of feel healing. Like this offseason feels a
- 6:48Speaker 2: little bit healing. Now in November, you might find out
- 6:51Speaker 2: that you know, there's a separate artery that nobody's seen
- 6:54Speaker 2: and is bleeding out the back and it's it was
- 6:57Speaker 2: all fake. But I like the direction of the team
- 7:00Speaker 2: right now.
- 7:01Speaker 4: Yeah, Nick, So I think we were I think Taylor
- 7:04Speaker 4: was a ross that came out with a article RecA
- 7:06Speaker 4: It was talking about basically like which position groups got
- 7:09Speaker 4: better in the draft, and like I was reading through
- 7:11Speaker 4: it and I was like, you know what, hell, like
- 7:13Speaker 4: the quarterback position group got better throughout this draft, and
- 7:17Speaker 4: so like, like you said, more explosive and everything, keep
- 7:22Speaker 4: it simple, stupid in the draft, build around Tyler Shuck
- 7:25Speaker 4: and make him better.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of you know, like if you're like
- 7:29Speaker 2: trying to decorate a house and you're on a budget
- 7:31Speaker 2: and you don't got all the money, you don't want
- 7:32Speaker 2: to put half the money in the living room and
- 7:34Speaker 2: half the money in the dining room. Like, let the
- 7:35Speaker 2: dining room go. Just get a dumb table off a
- 7:37Speaker 2: Facebook marketplace, have a place to sit. Make the living
- 7:40Speaker 2: room fire, and that's going to be where you host everybody.
- 7:43Speaker 2: And if you have a good time, it's going to
- 7:44Speaker 2: be because your living rooms stacked out. And that's fine,
- 7:46Speaker 2: Like they decked out the living room Brandon Staley. I mean,
- 7:50Speaker 2: it's kind of unbelievable when you really start boiling down
- 7:53Speaker 2: the numbers. They had a top ten defense and a
- 7:54Speaker 2: ton of metrics, and you look at the personnel and
- 7:56Speaker 2: it doesn't feel like it adds up to that. I
- 7:58Speaker 2: think they can sustain there. You gotta get an answer
- 8:01Speaker 2: at cornerback. I think I think that's a huge thing.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Like somebody needs to emerge there. Julian Blackman's got to
- 8:06Speaker 2: stay healthy, cover the slot or you know, Emerson's got
- 8:09Speaker 2: to end up being a player. But they got to
- 8:11Speaker 2: get some answers there. But this offense, look, you know
- 8:13Speaker 2: why you're gonna win games, like you know, you know
- 8:15Speaker 2: it's gonna work. So yeah, finish up one side, make
- 8:19Speaker 2: Tyler shuck as good as can be. If he's not good, okay,
- 8:22Speaker 2: then like you have you have your answer there, then
- 8:24Speaker 2: you know where you got to go. But find out
- 8:26Speaker 2: what your team actually is. And I think that's what
- 8:28Speaker 2: they're doing. So yeah, I like it. Like the offense
- 8:31Speaker 2: should be really good, and you know, I think the
- 8:34Speaker 2: defense can find a way to sustain.
- 8:36Speaker 5: Cause know where they got Nick Underhill new Ons dot
- 8:38Speaker 5: Football here on ot B, Hey talk to us about
- 8:42Speaker 5: Xavion Harris. You sign him as a free agent, undrafted
- 8:45Speaker 5: out of Old miss And if anybody was watching the
- 8:48Speaker 5: NFL draft when it was best available, Harris was the
- 8:51Speaker 5: best available basically the entire draft.
- 8:54Speaker 4: His name was always on the board. He goes undrafted.
- 8:57Speaker 5: ESPN dot Com had him as the sixty third overall
- 9:00Speaker 5: player in this draft. How does he go undrafted? And
- 9:03Speaker 5: you know, why does he go undrafted? And what is
- 9:06Speaker 5: his potential with the New Orleans Saints.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Sixty three fields? Rich? Like I think probably one one
- 9:15Speaker 2: forty is kind of where the consensus was on him.
- 9:18Speaker 2: But still that's like getting the fourth rounder. Really really
- 9:21Speaker 2: good player. Tom the player six eight three point thirty
- 9:24Speaker 2: locks a lot of field goals. Man, you watch. We
- 9:29Speaker 2: could do a cut up of ten minutes of clips
- 9:32Speaker 2: to him getting triple team like and just eating people
- 9:35Speaker 2: up and creating rush lanes for other people. You know,
- 9:40Speaker 2: he he earned his draft status. I'll say that, like
- 9:42Speaker 2: he earned his draft status by how he has conducted
- 9:45Speaker 2: himself in life, like a couple of really nasty situations,
- 9:49Speaker 2: and you know, it led to that, Like that's how
- 9:52Speaker 2: a good player goes undrafted, Like you get involved in
- 9:54Speaker 2: domestic abuse and stuff like that. That's just what happens.
- 9:57Speaker 2: So he's first and foremost got a you know, improve
- 10:00Speaker 2: and show what he is off the field and be
- 10:03Speaker 2: a good citizen and then you know, we'll see how
- 10:05Speaker 2: it translates on the field. But I think I think
- 10:07Speaker 2: it's a good pick up for him, Like in terms
- 10:09Speaker 2: of football, you know, maybe you just stole a really
- 10:12Speaker 2: good player and you add him to that mix, and
- 10:14Speaker 2: that's the spot where they need more guys. You know,
- 10:17Speaker 2: I do wonder like if he's good, if Christan Miller
- 10:20Speaker 2: is good, Like what does it do to godchild? Like
- 10:21Speaker 2: all of a sudden, he's in a spot where, you know,
- 10:24Speaker 2: I think he's maybe fighting for playing time and maybe
- 10:28Speaker 2: even a role on the team. And you know edge
- 10:30Speaker 2: is interesting too. Man. You look at the guys over there, like,
- 10:33Speaker 2: where's the fit for Cam Jordan right now? You know,
- 10:36Speaker 2: you go four deep on it, like somebody they brought
- 10:39Speaker 2: in is either not on the team or inactive on
- 10:42Speaker 2: game day? Is it Jennings? Is it Tyree Wilson? Like
- 10:45Speaker 2: we know Chase Young and Granderson are going to be there?
- 10:47Speaker 2: Do you have a five guy rotation at defensive end?
- 10:49Speaker 2: Like it just doesn't feel like there's enough snaps for
- 10:52Speaker 2: all these guys on the line. And I mean those
- 10:54Speaker 2: are good problems right now. You know that that interior
- 10:57Speaker 2: I think needed a lot of help. They gotta proved
- 11:00Speaker 2: the run defense. They were top ten in yards against
- 11:02Speaker 2: per carry, but over all the overall number was a
- 11:05Speaker 2: little bit high. So you know, just don't be in
- 11:07Speaker 2: a situation where people feel like they can trotter run
- 11:09Speaker 2: the ball on you. And you know that'd be a
- 11:11Speaker 2: big step forward. But I like Harris quite a bit.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Man.
- 11:14Speaker 2: The trajectory on his career too, Like three years ago
- 11:18Speaker 2: two point seven yards averaged up to tackle. Last year
- 11:21Speaker 2: was like one point six. I think, So you just
- 11:23Speaker 2: see a guy improving too. If you could continue that
- 11:26Speaker 2: and you know, keep it clean everywhere. You know, I
- 11:29Speaker 2: feel like they got a good player.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Thank you. Always hear like post draft, you always hear
- 11:34Speaker 4: these stories about like there was trade offers made, trades
- 11:37Speaker 4: almost happened this or that almost happened. Have you like
- 11:40Speaker 4: you're to the ground there in New Orleans, have you
- 11:43Speaker 4: heard anything during the draft that maybe the Saints were
- 11:46Speaker 4: trying to do maybe trying to move somebody trades that
- 11:48Speaker 4: were trying to happen that just didn't go through.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean they were trying to go up in
- 11:53Speaker 2: the second like that was definitely something they were trying
- 11:55Speaker 2: to do. They wanted to get like a dB or
- 11:56Speaker 2: an edge rusher and then that like little little run
- 11:59Speaker 2: on an edge is like they started making some calls there,
- 12:01Speaker 2: like there was the normal amount of like kicking the
- 12:05Speaker 2: you know, kicking the tires before the draft. The Thibodeau thing,
- 12:09Speaker 2: Uh that that that's very real. That's going back to
- 12:12Speaker 2: the combine, like they were trying to work out player
- 12:14Speaker 2: for player trades since we're offering a fourth. I know
- 12:18Speaker 2: there was a report that said the Giants were holding
- 12:19Speaker 2: steady at a second. I think I had heard it
- 12:21Speaker 2: was like around it and got done like a third
- 12:23Speaker 2: in the Saint Smunt willing to go up and then
- 12:25Speaker 2: they they just shifted their energy to to Tyree Wilson
- 12:27Speaker 2: after that. But yeah, they were definitely looking around to
- 12:30Speaker 2: uh to move, but I think they got the guy
- 12:33Speaker 2: that wanted to get in the first like that was
- 12:35Speaker 2: that was the target. I think if Sonny Styles had
- 12:38Speaker 2: slided one more spot though, like you know, I think
- 12:41Speaker 2: that changed the plans. I don't think they expected Sonny
- 12:43Speaker 2: Styles to be available there, but he had been there,
- 12:45Speaker 2: they I think he would have probably been the pick.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Delane was the the plan. B if Tyson went, Kansas
- 12:51Speaker 2: City jumped them for him. You know, everything I've heard
- 12:54Speaker 2: is that they weren't taking Delaane over Jordan Tyson. Uh
- 12:58Speaker 2: to the point that you know, we recorded a thirty
- 13:01Speaker 2: minute podcast on Jordan Tyson before the draft and didn't
- 13:03Speaker 2: do one on the Lane. So I mean, like that's
- 13:05Speaker 2: where you know, I'm not just saying that after the fact,
- 13:07Speaker 2: like confidently felt that way. Yeah, but I don't think
- 13:12Speaker 2: anything got super close or you know, you know, nothing
- 13:16Speaker 2: super juicy. Just the Thibodeau thing was was very very
- 13:20Speaker 2: real though in like going on for several months.
- 13:23Speaker 5: Nick So there's gonna be a lot of Saints fans
- 13:25Speaker 5: that hear that, and hear the Saints looking at veteran
- 13:30Speaker 5: edge rushers and you bring a former first round picking
- 13:32Speaker 5: now much younger than Cam Jordan, but Cam Jordan's still available.
- 13:36Speaker 5: Cam Jordan very productive a year ago, right, They had
- 13:39Speaker 5: a great plan with him. He didn't play as many plays,
- 13:41Speaker 5: but he was more productive. Ten and a half sacks.
- 13:43Speaker 5: We all know the number. There's gonna be a lot
- 13:46Speaker 5: of Saints fans that wonder why Cam Jordan isn't just
- 13:48Speaker 5: back on this team and why you're trying to make
- 13:50Speaker 5: moves to bring in other guys to feel his production.
- 13:54Speaker 2: I think they should be doing both, honestly, But I
- 13:56Speaker 2: think it's kind of dumb that Cam isn't on the
- 13:58Speaker 2: team right now, like just he Like the number can't
- 14:02Speaker 2: be that high, Like I think the Saints are probably
- 14:04Speaker 2: around six and off and I think Cam's probably a
- 14:06Speaker 2: like note and a half ten. Yeah, there's got to
- 14:08Speaker 2: be a number, Like, there's got to be a number
- 14:10Speaker 2: in there. Look, I think they should be bringing in
- 14:13Speaker 2: guys like Tyrie Wilson. Like obviously huge disappointment is a
- 14:16Speaker 2: first round pick, but for a fifth round pick. Yeah,
- 14:19Speaker 2: like that's a great guy to bring in. Take a
- 14:20Speaker 2: look at him, see if there's something there. Maybe you
- 14:22Speaker 2: resign them, maybe you don't. You get some help. And
- 14:24Speaker 2: Forony Jennings, a younger younger than Cam, you know, like
- 14:28Speaker 2: a guy that can be a first down DM, be
- 14:31Speaker 2: really good against the run. That makes a lot of sense.
- 14:33Speaker 2: I think there should be room for Cam though, Like
- 14:35Speaker 2: this is a better team with Cam Jordan on it,
- 14:38Speaker 2: and it's a better team with Dovin Kamara on it,
- 14:39Speaker 2: and like you've done all this stuff. I don't think
- 14:43Speaker 2: Cam should be that expensive, you know. I think both
- 14:45Speaker 2: sides just got to swallow a little bit of whatever
- 14:48Speaker 2: and just meet it a point, like there has to
- 14:49Speaker 2: be a spot where it makes sense, like, yeah, Cam's
- 14:52Speaker 2: thirty seven years old, you need to be rebuilding your
- 14:54Speaker 2: roster other places. But you know, I think it it's
- 14:58Speaker 2: not just being sentimental or anything. Like, I think they're
- 15:00Speaker 2: actually a better team with both those guys on the roster.
- 15:03Speaker 4: Nah, I don't think there's ever been somebody play with
- 15:06Speaker 4: a better attitude for a long period of time than
- 15:08Speaker 4: Alvin Kamara has with the Saints. I saw a quote
- 15:10Speaker 4: from him recently somebody who's asking him about you know,
- 15:13Speaker 4: the addition of Travis h Chan like what is what's
- 15:16Speaker 4: your role going to be?
- 15:17Speaker 1: Like?
- 15:17Speaker 4: And nailed the saint don't you did? Thank you?
- 15:22Speaker 1: So?
- 15:22Speaker 4: Like he was like, man, people think that there's a
- 15:25Speaker 4: beef I'm upset about. He's like, I couldn't be happier
- 15:27Speaker 4: that Travis is in the room. I hope it resembles
- 15:29Speaker 4: like what mark Ingra and I had, So like, how
- 15:33Speaker 4: do you see that room playing out with Alvin Kamara
- 15:37Speaker 4: still being on the team and presumably going to be
- 15:39Speaker 4: on the team in the fall, So how do you
- 15:42Speaker 4: see that kind of playing out if they if the
- 15:44Speaker 4: season started today, both the guys lining up that rotation.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Yeah, look, I believe him too, Like he's always had that,
- 15:52Speaker 2: Like Hendrey Miller came in here, and like the very
- 15:55Speaker 2: first quote we ever got from Hendrey Miller was that
- 15:58Speaker 2: he was trying to take Alvin's job and you know,
- 16:00Speaker 2: get all the carries and everything, and Album's like cool,
- 16:02Speaker 2: like like I don't want to I don't want to
- 16:06Speaker 2: carry the ball that much, like, you know, let me
- 16:08Speaker 2: be in my role. I hope he does do it.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Like he's just always been that kind of guy like
- 16:12Speaker 2: he is a he is a good teammate, like and
- 16:14Speaker 2: he's one of those guys that practice to look, there's
- 16:16Speaker 2: some vets that that are always kind of you know,
- 16:19Speaker 2: kg about their spot or whatever, trying to protect their square.
- 16:21Speaker 2: And you'll just see him genuinely like taking the young
- 16:24Speaker 2: guys inside and trying to coach him up and do
- 16:26Speaker 2: different stuff. And it doesn't always necessarily, you know, show
- 16:31Speaker 2: up that way in body language and all that stuff,
- 16:34Speaker 2: and people try to decipher it. But like you watch
- 16:36Speaker 2: his actions and his actions are what they are. Like
- 16:39Speaker 2: I said, I think they are a way better team
- 16:41Speaker 2: with both those guys, and I think a chan can
- 16:43Speaker 2: be great, proud and like Alvin doesn't want to get
- 16:45Speaker 2: all those inside zone runs and be the you know,
- 16:48Speaker 2: the third and one back or anything. Like he put
- 16:50Speaker 2: him out in space, get him the ball in the slot,
- 16:52Speaker 2: get him on some screens outside zone. Let you know
- 16:56Speaker 2: that first point of contact, be a linebacker instead of
- 16:59Speaker 2: three hundred already pound Harris. You know, Like Alvin doesn't
- 17:02Speaker 2: want to take them hits, like if he doesn't have to.
- 17:05Speaker 2: So yeah, I think he's definitely legitimately wide open to that.
- 17:11Speaker 2: And yeah, I mean look, he wants to be a
- 17:12Speaker 2: part of the team. He was on toront Armsteads podcast
- 17:15Speaker 2: and was talking about it, like he he wants to
- 17:18Speaker 2: be on this team. We'll see what the Saints want
- 17:21Speaker 2: to do. I think they're going to try to get
- 17:22Speaker 2: him to take a pay cut. We'll see how that
- 17:23Speaker 2: all plays out. Yeah, I think it's still work to
- 17:25Speaker 2: be done there. But those two guys together, I think
- 17:28Speaker 2: you can have a really good backfield like Alvin in
- 17:30Speaker 2: the right role, I think can be a huge weapon
- 17:32Speaker 2: for your team.
- 17:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree there, And also like the drop off
- 17:36Speaker 5: if Ak is not on his team to Devin Neil
- 17:40Speaker 5: and Kendre Miller and his availability to get on the field,
- 17:44Speaker 5: that's a big drop off. And so if the Saints
- 17:46Speaker 5: already have him on the books the Saints you know,
- 17:48Speaker 5: or under the cap, all these situations and maybe it
- 17:50Speaker 5: is a small pay cut, but still he does make
- 17:53Speaker 5: your team better. It's not like he's you know, to
- 17:56Speaker 5: a point where you're just basically having him on the
- 17:59Speaker 5: team because he's been there and what he's done for
- 18:01Speaker 5: the city. Like, there's still a role now it's on
- 18:03Speaker 5: the Saints to find that role. But the drop off
- 18:05Speaker 5: between him and the next guy's up. That's a big one.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Still a productive player. Man, Like, I don't you know,
- 18:12Speaker 2: I don't understand the I don't know it just it
- 18:14Speaker 2: just feels like a very a very hard wall in
- 18:18Speaker 2: a way, just in the way that they've talked about.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Like Mickey was not I think he was on with
- 18:22Speaker 2: you guys on on serious and he got asked about
- 18:26Speaker 2: Kim Jordan, who's not under contract a dancer, is basically
- 18:28Speaker 2: like yeah, the open whatever, and then he got asked
- 18:31Speaker 2: about album. He's like, ah, we got to figure it
- 18:32Speaker 2: out about I don't want to talk about it. Alvin's
- 18:34Speaker 2: actually the player under contract, but they're talking about him
- 18:37Speaker 2: like he's he's the free agent who has a decision
- 18:40Speaker 2: to make. He doesn't have a decision to make. He
- 18:42Speaker 2: signed a contract, there's three million dollars guaranteed. He's on
- 18:45Speaker 2: the roster. You know, you it's just kind of weird.
- 18:48Speaker 2: I was gonna talked about you know, It's just it's
- 18:51Speaker 2: interesting to me. But yeah, I think those two guys together, man,
- 18:54Speaker 2: like get Alvin out on the spot, like using like
- 18:57Speaker 2: like he was using seventeen just that that space sky
- 19:00Speaker 2: light HN do all the other stuff and I still think,
- 19:04Speaker 2: you know, you watching people still bounce off and he
- 19:06Speaker 2: still breaks tackles. He's still great in space, Like it's yeah,
- 19:09Speaker 2: right up the middle hasn't been great, but that's really
- 19:12Speaker 2: never been his game.
- 19:13Speaker 5: Yeah, I am right there with you, and hopefully they
- 19:15Speaker 5: can find a way to have him in the backfield
- 19:18Speaker 5: and be a piece of this offense. All right, Nick Underhill,
- 19:21Speaker 5: New Orleans dot Football, good enough to join us every
- 19:23Speaker 5: single Tuesday here on OTV, Nicholas, We appreciate the time, sir.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Yeah, take it easy, guys.
- 19:34Speaker 4: I wanted him to have a better answer the first one.
- 19:39Speaker 4: You were kind of you're kind of checked out.
- 19:41Speaker 3: After that one, I completely tuned him out after he
- 19:43Speaker 3: answered that way, I didn't care about anything else. I mean,
- 19:50Speaker 3: that's not how I mean it, Like, just have fun
- 19:52Speaker 3: and answer the question.
- 19:53Speaker 4: Yeah, Nick, all right, it is hard pulling up right
- 20:00Speaker 4: out like spot though. Yeah, we had we had to
- 20:03Speaker 4: break to think about it to be fair. But you
- 20:05Speaker 4: know that answers.
- 20:09Speaker 3: But y'all love y'all's wives too. But y'all are gonna
- 20:11Speaker 3: entertain the question.
- 20:12Speaker 4: And say we're gonna run away mm hmm, and we're
- 20:16Speaker 4: not gonna We're not gonna pick anyone in the vicinity
- 20:19Speaker 4: of our age range either no, I mean sometimes that's not.
- 20:22Speaker 6: The cross off the list.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Okay, that feels real.

- 22:42Speaker 2: Yo?
- 22:42Speaker 4: Want just don't just wait? All right?
- 22:45Speaker 5: Welcome back O TV, turn back up just a little bit,
- 23:02Speaker 5: all right, real quick. I do want to remind you

- 23:49Speaker 5: relationship driven building together Palagroup dot com pa La.
- 23:53Speaker 4: Group dot com.
- 24:01Speaker 5: Real quick to finish off our conversation with Nick Underhill,
- 24:05Speaker 5: Let's just sign Cam Jordan. Let's just let Ak play
- 24:08Speaker 5: out the contract like they're still productive.
- 24:13Speaker 4: You're better with him this year than without him.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Do there's any doubt We talked about it, like I
- 24:20Speaker 3: don't even remember when it was a couple of months ago.
- 24:22Speaker 3: If you could franchise tag one person on the Saints,
- 24:24Speaker 3: who would be? And I think we all said, Cam.
- 24:26Speaker 5: Jordan, he makes your team better, just say the least
- 24:32Speaker 5: like and you brought in like Anthony Jennings is a good,
- 24:36Speaker 5: solid pro. Like he's gonna give you production. He's not
- 24:39Speaker 5: going to win a game, he's not gonna take over
- 24:42Speaker 5: a game. He's not gonna, you know, be a Monday
- 24:44Speaker 5: meeting starter type guy Tyree Wilson. You're going off maybe
- 24:50Speaker 5: potential which he had coming out of college, he hasn't
- 24:52Speaker 5: shown in National Football League, and you're going off, I
- 24:57Speaker 5: can get the most out of that guy, project feel,
- 25:01Speaker 5: which all coaches, yep do all the time. Oh, he
- 25:04Speaker 5: was a first round picked, he was a bus there,
- 25:06Speaker 5: but I I can get the most out of him,
- 25:08Speaker 5: and every coach does that. It's not just picking on
- 25:10Speaker 5: Brandon Staley and the defensive staff, but you have I
- 25:15Speaker 5: would say, a top three player in franchise history that
- 25:22Speaker 5: had ten and a half sacks and it's still on
- 25:25Speaker 5: the open market, that wants to play for one team
- 25:29Speaker 5: in his entire career. And it really feels like you're
- 25:33Speaker 5: a couple of million dollars off of what each other wants,
- 25:37Speaker 5: and you've got ten million dollars under the cab.
- 25:40Speaker 4: At ten and Sex just a couple of months ago. Yeah,
- 25:45Speaker 4: Mickey Maye Limis has been doing some absolute work in
- 25:48Speaker 4: the court of public opinion. I gotta I gotta feel
- 25:51Speaker 4: I gotta think that you know, we were hyping it
- 25:53Speaker 4: up a little bit, a little tongue in cheek there
- 25:55Speaker 4: for a little bit, but like they haven't really missed
- 25:59Speaker 4: on anything in recent history, I guess uh. And they
- 26:04Speaker 4: have an opportunity here for a little bit of an
- 26:06Speaker 4: offseason chef's kiss here. Just sign it. Just do the
- 26:09Speaker 4: common sense thing. I think every Saints fan wants it.
- 26:13Speaker 4: Sign sign Cam Jordan. If you're a couple of million
- 26:16Speaker 4: dollars off, fine, whatever, just get it done. Let him,
- 26:20Speaker 4: let him, don't let him leave and be like that
- 26:26Speaker 4: one like dark spot on the team coming up, because
- 26:29Speaker 4: that's what players are gonna have to answer that question.
- 26:32Speaker 4: It's going to have to be something you're going to
- 26:35Speaker 4: have to get over as a team. And not every
- 26:38Speaker 4: person is like that. Only a special few people in
- 26:41Speaker 4: franchise history are gonna be like that, especially when it
- 26:45Speaker 4: ends this way. If you're a couple million dollars off
- 26:46Speaker 4: and you don't end up signing him, what that does
- 26:49Speaker 4: to your locker room is like, oh my god, Like
- 26:52Speaker 4: it takes it. It takes a minute, Like you get over.
- 26:54Speaker 4: You're all professionals there and you'll get in and play
- 26:56Speaker 4: play your best and blah blah blah. But like it's
- 26:58Speaker 4: gonna it'll be a thing. It'll certainly be a thing
- 27:01Speaker 4: within those walls, within that locker room. If the reason why,
- 27:05Speaker 4: if he's saying I want to come back, we're million
- 27:08Speaker 4: and a half away. Yeah, we just can't get there.
- 27:11Speaker 4: Can't get there for that guy. Woy would the other
- 27:13Speaker 4: people think that they would ever get there for you
- 27:15Speaker 4: in the future.
- 27:17Speaker 5: So when you look on sport rag dot com, which
- 27:20Speaker 5: has everybody's contracts and what they made and what the
- 27:23Speaker 5: market value, and again it's an estimate what it would be.
- 27:27Speaker 5: So last year Cam made a little over six million dollars.
- 27:31Speaker 5: His evaluation is right at six point eight million. Okay,
- 27:36Speaker 5: he wants reports are maybe ten. That's what Nick just said. Okay,
- 27:40Speaker 5: give him seven and a half to call it a day.
- 27:43Speaker 5: He made six last year, he earned the right to
- 27:46Speaker 5: get a little bump and pay game seven and a half.
- 27:49Speaker 4: Yep, and call it a day. You know what, if
- 27:50Speaker 4: you get ten, give you another million? Yeah?
- 27:55Speaker 5: Hell get yeah, we give you to ten. Yeah exactly.
- 27:58Speaker 5: If you get ten again, you will whatever the contract.
- 28:01Speaker 4: Is, will be this contract one million for every sec.
- 28:08Speaker 5: He just pays he plays it and if he doesn't
- 28:10Speaker 5: get any can get paid.
- 28:13Speaker 4: Now. Just yeah.
- 28:13Speaker 5: Having centems in the contract like Cam makes you better
- 28:17Speaker 5: on and off the field, like That's the thing too,
- 28:21Speaker 5: Like we're not talking about somebody that's only been with
- 28:23Speaker 5: the franchise a little bit. We're not talking like this
- 28:27Speaker 5: man has played his whole career in a Saints helmet.
- 28:31Speaker 5: I think about like the love and the passion, like
- 28:33Speaker 5: everybody have for to Mario Davis, and I get it,
- 28:35Speaker 5: Like to Mario has played other places and he just left.
- 28:39Speaker 5: Cam's waiting to return. He wants to play for the Saints.
- 28:43Speaker 5: He doesn't want to play for anybody else. And you're
- 28:46Speaker 5: only a couple of million dollars away from each other.
- 28:49Speaker 5: There's a middle ground that can be met. You meet
- 28:52Speaker 5: it and he plays for you. Your team's better on
- 28:54Speaker 5: the field, and you've got one of the best locker
- 28:57Speaker 5: room leaders in the National Football League talking with your
- 29:01Speaker 5: young players every single day.
- 29:03Speaker 4: Every single day.
- 29:04Speaker 5: He's making them better, he's helping them out. Tyree Wilson
- 29:08Speaker 5: still a very young football player. He hasn't played out
- 29:10Speaker 5: his first contract. You just got him for the cheap
- 29:13Speaker 5: on a prove it deal. Who's gonna make him better
- 29:17Speaker 5: on the field and off the field than Cam Jordan.
- 29:22Speaker 5: I see no negatives in bringing Cam Jordan back to
- 29:26Speaker 5: finish his career as a New Orleans Saint and only
- 29:29Speaker 5: a New Orleans saint.
- 29:30Speaker 4: Yeah, and there's no there's no reason to stretch this
- 29:33Speaker 4: out either. It's been so good for so long. Let's
- 29:36Speaker 4: not let's not do this. Just just sign him. Sometimes
- 29:40Speaker 4: the clear and obvious decision is clear and obvious for
- 29:43Speaker 4: a reason, because you just gotta keep it real simple. Yeah,
- 29:47Speaker 4: he wants to be a saint. You want to be
- 29:49Speaker 4: a saint. I would think he's still really productive and
- 29:53Speaker 4: he's not breaking the bank with what he's asking, right,
- 29:55Speaker 4: just at least made him in the middle incentivize the
- 29:57Speaker 4: rest of it. Yeah, it's easy. I think it is
- 30:02Speaker 4: an easy choice. Should we We should call Mickey? Yeah,
- 30:06Speaker 4: he's probably listening, probably listening and picking up the phone
- 30:09Speaker 4: right now.
- 30:09Speaker 5: That's right, he's shooting that latest offer.
- 30:11Speaker 4: You know what over the camp. Just listen to these
- 30:14Speaker 4: guys in batonies talking. It's all me. I'm gonna tap
- 30:18Speaker 4: my chest on this. You got it? Handshake? Yes, no doubt?
- 30:23Speaker 4: All right. We will step away more OTB when we
- 30:25Speaker 4: come back.
- 30:26Speaker 5: Before we get to this break though, we want to
- 30:27Speaker 5: remind you about our friends over at kataz Blinds KTOZ

- 30:35Speaker 5: Brandon Barton and the team come out to your space.

- 30:39Speaker 5: your space. In a matter of fifteen minutes. They've done
- 30:41Speaker 5: it for me, they'll do it for you as well.
- 30:43Speaker 5: And we always say it because it is factual. It's inside,
- 30:45Speaker 5: it's outside, it's outside, it's inside. Sometimes it's gonna be both,
- 30:48Speaker 5: like it is for me with the motorized screen, it's outside.
- 30:52Speaker 5: My daughter loves playing in that area. We can cool
- 30:54Speaker 5: it off by dropping the shade. By pressing one button,
- 30:57Speaker 5: it goes down and also it shades our entire living room.
- 31:00Speaker 5: It's great on Sundays when you're out there and you're

- 32:29Speaker 5: ESPN dot Com put out an article and for every
- 32:32Speaker 5: preseason top twenty five team, it had a under the
- 32:35Speaker 5: radar player. So they highlighted a player, talked about the player,
- 32:39Speaker 5: and l shu's player is safety Ty Benefield, and he
- 32:43Speaker 5: is somebody that transferred from Boise State.
- 32:46Speaker 4: As we all know.
- 32:46Speaker 5: He is somebody that when you go out to practice,
- 32:49Speaker 5: you certainly notice very quickly into walking out onto the
- 32:53Speaker 5: practice field. Six foot three, two hundred and eight pounds,
- 32:56Speaker 5: started thirty three games for the Broncos, including twenty eight
- 33:00Speaker 5: straight games. He was the first defensive player to commit
- 33:03Speaker 5: to Lane Kiff and Nistaff out of the portal. And
- 33:06Speaker 5: he's gonna play a big role for LSU. And so
- 33:09Speaker 5: that's the under the radar player that ESPN chose for LSU.
- 33:13Speaker 5: I would say that he is a primetime player for LSU,
- 33:16Speaker 5: and certainly everyone here in bat Rouge is excited to
- 33:18Speaker 5: see what he can do on the field for the Tigers,
- 33:21Speaker 5: and so we can go around. If you have a player, great,
- 33:24Speaker 5: If you don't, it's not a big deal. But since
- 33:27Speaker 5: he was the player that ESPN highlighted, and I think
- 33:30Speaker 5: we all in this room agree that he is going
- 33:33Speaker 5: to be one of your best players. We think he
- 33:35Speaker 5: is going to be a leader on the defense. He's
- 33:37Speaker 5: gonna make a lot of plays. You know, Jake Olsen's
- 33:40Speaker 5: done a great job with that safety group in the
- 33:42Speaker 5: last couple of years. Thinking about aj Hawsey to Marcus Cooley.
- 33:46Speaker 5: This is going to be the next guy up as
- 33:48Speaker 5: far as safeties for LSU. And I'm going to go
- 33:52Speaker 5: on the offensive side of the football. For my most
- 33:55Speaker 5: under the radar player, it's going to be Dylan Jones
- 33:57Speaker 5: at running back coming over from Wisconsin. I know Cayden Durham,
- 34:01Speaker 5: I know Harlan Berry are in the fold there, but
- 34:05Speaker 5: if a game was played today in Tiger Stadium, I
- 34:08Speaker 5: think Dylan Jones is a starting running back. And not
- 34:10Speaker 5: to say the other guys aren't going to get the
- 34:12Speaker 5: carries they are, but there's a real trust factor there.
- 34:16Speaker 4: You can tell by spring practice.
- 34:18Speaker 5: You can tell by some of the quotes coming out
- 34:20Speaker 5: of the building they have a lot of belief in him.
- 34:23Speaker 5: I caught up with some of the defensive guys last
- 34:26Speaker 5: week and he's a guy that they talked about because
- 34:29Speaker 5: he's got a skill set of being able to run
- 34:31Speaker 5: by you, run through you, and he's going to have
- 34:34Speaker 5: a lot of run no pun intended here in the fall.
- 34:37Speaker 5: So I think it's going to be a true three
- 34:38Speaker 5: headed monster at running back. It's going to be a
- 34:40Speaker 5: three man rotation. But I think we all thought going
- 34:43Speaker 5: into spring it was going to be Durham and Barry
- 34:46Speaker 5: and that was kind of it. But now Dylan Jones
- 34:48Speaker 5: is fully in the fold in that running back rotation,
- 34:51Speaker 5: and don't be surprised if there's some games where he
- 34:54Speaker 5: is the leading guy as far as carries in the game.
- 34:57Speaker 5: And that's not something we talked about again coming into
- 35:00Speaker 5: the spring, but after spring practice he is certainly going
- 35:04Speaker 5: to be a part of the offensive philosophy. And we'll
- 35:08Speaker 5: see how the running back rotation goes. It might be
- 35:10Speaker 5: one of those rotations where it's a true by committee.
- 35:13Speaker 5: Every game is going to be a little bit different,
- 35:15Speaker 5: but whatever the difference is Dylan Jones going to be
- 35:17Speaker 5: a part of it?
- 35:18Speaker 4: And that gonna be fun to get back to the
- 35:19Speaker 4: days where three running backs are probably gonna have multiple
- 35:23Speaker 4: premiere games, like just differently, just because it might just
- 35:28Speaker 4: someone might be feeling it seeing making their reads a
- 35:31Speaker 4: little bit better, better opportunities. Of course, it just you
- 35:34Speaker 4: got three and to say that he coming out of
- 35:37Speaker 4: spring would be the guy taken over both those guys.
- 35:41Speaker 4: Think about King Durham's first year here, We're like, okay,
- 35:43Speaker 4: we got the next All American. I think he was
- 35:45Speaker 4: Freshman of the Year in the SEC offensive we were like,
- 35:48Speaker 4: we got the next guy. And then a year later
- 35:51Speaker 4: the offense is bad, but then the bright spot was
- 35:53Speaker 4: a Harlan Berry and we're like, wow, okay, well is
- 35:55Speaker 4: he better than Kayton? Like he's going to be the
- 35:58Speaker 4: next All American. But now just a couple of months later,
- 36:00Speaker 4: seeing this new transfer would be the starter right now
- 36:04Speaker 4: because of that trust factor, which is it's still a
- 36:07Speaker 4: little crazy for me to believe that, because I think
- 36:09Speaker 4: it's going to be just there's going to be three
- 36:11Speaker 4: starters starting running backs and we're very fortunate to have that.
- 36:14Speaker 4: But you've talked about the championship teams that LSU has had,
- 36:18Speaker 4: there's really only been one that had just one guy,
- 36:21Speaker 4: one premier guy, which would Clyde in twenty nineteen. I
- 36:25Speaker 4: guess my under the radar guy, Taylor. I'm stealing it
- 36:27Speaker 4: from Taylor here. I'm not the guy that has followed
- 36:32Speaker 4: the spring. But we do know that we have I
- 36:36Speaker 4: think forty eight receivers on our team, scholarship receivers. Some
- 36:41Speaker 4: of them have to play more than others. And what
- 36:43Speaker 4: it looks like is he ran with the ones a
- 36:45Speaker 4: lot good size Taylor. He said he looked really good
- 36:48Speaker 4: at practice. Malik Elsie Elsa or Elsie Elsie Elsie okay,
- 36:52Speaker 4: and neither one. Malik Elzie nailed it six two two
- 36:58Speaker 4: fifteen ran with the ones and look, why is the
- 37:04Speaker 4: end of the radar because he only had seven receptions
- 37:06Speaker 4: last year for eighty four yards, so you know, not
- 37:10Speaker 4: the sexiest stats. I mean, that's the definition of an
- 37:12Speaker 4: under the radar. Definitely definition under the radar. Didn't cross
- 37:17Speaker 4: triple digitis last year in yards, but running with the
- 37:19Speaker 4: ones and to make your presence felt enough to be
- 37:23Speaker 4: able to be running with the ones in that receiver.
- 37:25Speaker 4: And that's that big. I'm joking obviously about the about
- 37:29Speaker 4: the numbers, but I mean they're in like they're in
- 37:31Speaker 4: the teens the wide receivers. Fourteen guys in the receiver room.
- 37:35Speaker 4: Somebody has to clear themselves from everybody else, Like I
- 37:40Speaker 4: just don't understand. Like I even thought it was going
- 37:42Speaker 4: to be receiver by committee. We looked up the stats
- 37:44Speaker 4: from Lane Kiffen last year, and it really wasn't that.
- 37:47Speaker 4: I was like, how many guys caught for two hundred
- 37:49Speaker 4: yards last year? Whatever? Like was it? It really wasn't.
- 37:52Speaker 4: They had their premiere wide receivers and so to think
- 37:56Speaker 4: that they got to whittle it down to, you know,
- 37:58Speaker 4: a handful of receivers from four fourteen is is a
- 38:02Speaker 4: wild thought to me. And I don't know when that
- 38:04Speaker 4: starts to happen, but certainly Lake l Z, certainly he
- 38:09Speaker 4: separated himself early on, so we'll see, we'll see if
- 38:12Speaker 4: it keeps up again. I don't judge anything based on spring.
- 38:15Speaker 4: It's really when the summer starts and then in the
- 38:17Speaker 4: first couple of weeks of training camp is when I
- 38:19Speaker 4: start really caring about what that depth chart looks like.
- 38:22Speaker 4: But certainly he's got a potential to be an under
- 38:24Speaker 4: the radar player. I like that.
- 38:29Speaker 5: One launder anymore players that would fall into this.
- 38:33Speaker 3: Category, I guess, Like for me, it's kind of hard
- 38:36Speaker 3: because I just and this. I get too complicated with it,
- 38:39Speaker 3: like define under the radar, Like I just.
- 38:44Speaker 4: Didn't define it. I don't think.
- 38:47Speaker 3: Yeah, like I want to go Jackson Harris from Hawaii. Yeah,
- 38:51Speaker 3: like that, but like I just don't know if that's
- 38:52Speaker 3: under the radar.
- 38:53Speaker 5: I mean he's coming from the Mountain West. I think
- 38:55Speaker 5: that fits into the category I.
- 38:57Speaker 4: I would define under the radar.
- 38:59Speaker 6: Like you think this guy is going to be household
- 39:00Speaker 6: by the end of the season.
- 39:01Speaker 4: Not a lot of people talk about him right now.
- 39:03Speaker 4: I agree.
- 39:03Speaker 3: I like Jackson Harris.
- 39:05Speaker 4: I think that's a good pick too.
- 39:07Speaker 6: I'm gonna go defensive side of the ball, similar position
- 39:10Speaker 6: to Tide Benefield. I'm going to Shawn Spears. Yeah, this
- 39:12Speaker 6: is a guy that I've liked for a few years now.
- 39:16Speaker 4: To love that.
- 39:16Speaker 6: Yes, live Supirish guy, shout out. But Deshaun Spears came
- 39:21Speaker 6: in six foot three. I think he played around two
- 39:24Speaker 6: ten last year. Look, because you get him to two fifteen,
- 39:27Speaker 6: two twenty. If you do that, he's actually bigger than
- 39:30Speaker 6: Harold Perkins playing the same spot at the Star.
- 39:33Speaker 4: We know he can run.
- 39:34Speaker 6: He's got better coverage skills than Perkins, putting him in
- 39:37Speaker 6: that Star position, which is why I love the TDD
- 39:39Speaker 6: Bennfield signing so much. My thought was, if you give Benifield,
- 39:42Speaker 6: it opens up everything in your secondary. You can move
- 39:45Speaker 6: a guy like DeShawn Spears down. I think he's gonna
- 39:48Speaker 6: thrive there. I mean, I know Matt that's his favorite
- 39:50Speaker 6: position on the field, the Star, but it's also a
- 39:52Speaker 6: really important position on Blake Baker's defense. I think size wise,
- 39:55Speaker 6: he is perfect for that spot. I think he's gonna
- 39:57Speaker 6: make plays this year.
- 39:58Speaker 3: I like that one because even whenever you saw him
- 40:00Speaker 3: a little bit and the little bit that he played.
- 40:03Speaker 6: You had the pick six against Florida. Yeah, I think
- 40:06Speaker 6: he was he SEC defensive.
- 40:07Speaker 4: Player of the week that week.
- 40:09Speaker 3: He did have two picks.
- 40:10Speaker 4: Yeah, he was.
- 40:10Speaker 6: He was defensive player of the week in the SEC
- 40:12Speaker 6: that Yeah.
- 40:14Speaker 3: I like Deshaun Spears too.
- 40:18Speaker 4: Star position.
- 40:19Speaker 3: I just like didn't know what the parameters for this
- 40:21Speaker 3: assignment were.
- 40:23Speaker 4: ESPN told us he could be.
- 40:24Speaker 6: They made a Yeah, They're like, let's get the highest
- 40:30Speaker 6: ranked defensive player they signed in the portal.
- 40:32Speaker 4: He's the under the radar guy.
- 40:33Speaker 6: Yep, mhm's not under the radar player.
- 40:39Speaker 4: In fairness, probably nobody's ever heard of him outside of fans.
- 40:46Speaker 4: That's fair locked in all right.
- 40:49Speaker 5: That is our under the radar players. Also throw in
- 40:51Speaker 5: Jordan Ross there Edge Rusher coming over from Tennessee. That
- 40:54Speaker 5: is somebody else to pay attention to here in this category.
- 40:58Speaker 5: All right, we will take a break, wrap it up
- 41:00Speaker 5: when we come back here on OTB.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Off the bench.
