- 0:01Speaker 1: Thanks Mike. Back with Crack and head coach Lane Lambert
- 0:03Speaker 1: big three to one win over Chicago two nights ago.
- 0:05Speaker 1: You got back to what has made this team successful.
- 0:08Speaker 1: You challenged the team to shoot the puck more. We
- 0:11Speaker 1: saw more shots on net against the Blackhawks. Take us
- 0:13Speaker 1: through that sixty minutes for your team.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought we did a lot, a lot of
- 0:17Speaker 2: good things in that game, defended hard. You know when
- 0:21Speaker 2: it started there spent last time in Arizona. We've actually
- 0:24Speaker 2: spent less time in Arizona over the last two games,
- 0:27Speaker 2: and we're kind of cleaning that area up that we
- 0:30Speaker 2: know we had to and have to and we'll continue
- 0:32Speaker 2: to progress to. And I thought, you know, from an
- 0:35Speaker 2: offensive standpoint, I thought we transitioned to put pretty well.
- 0:38Speaker 2: We had some, you know, some really good opportunities, and
- 0:43Speaker 2: you know, we took advantage of the ones that we
- 0:45Speaker 2: needed to, I guess you could say, and scratched out
- 0:50Speaker 2: of victory.
- 0:50Speaker 1: It's a very small sample size, but this season, when
- 0:53Speaker 1: you've challenged the team after efforts that you've not been
- 0:56Speaker 1: happy with, to be better, we've seen this team rise
- 1:00Speaker 1: to the occasion. What does it say about your group,
- 1:03Speaker 1: your coaching, your coaches on this team as well, that
- 1:06Speaker 1: they're able to take that message and apply it, you know,
- 1:09Speaker 1: and sometimes less than forty eight hours later for positive results.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Well, the thing about it is is that it says
- 1:14Speaker 2: to me they're taking ownership of it because you know,
- 1:18Speaker 2: let's be let's be honest. If they don't play well,
- 1:21Speaker 2: they know they don't play well, and they're not happy
- 1:23Speaker 2: about it either. My job is to let them know
- 1:25Speaker 2: they didn't play well and to find solutions for them
- 1:28Speaker 2: to be better the next night too. And they've been
- 1:31Speaker 2: embracing that. But at the end of the day, they're
- 1:34Speaker 2: the ones that are responsible for, you know, taking that
- 1:37Speaker 2: message and putting it into play, and you know, it's
- 1:40Speaker 2: it's been good. It's been good to see our leadership
- 1:42Speaker 2: group take ownership.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Of that last game, we saw Ellie Tolwnen moved up
- 1:46Speaker 1: to that top line, Berkeley Catton back at center on
- 1:48Speaker 1: the forth line in between carshe and Winterton. What did
- 1:51Speaker 1: you think of those two performances in particular, Well, I
- 1:53Speaker 1: thought they.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Were I thought they were okay. Berkeley didn't get a
- 1:56Speaker 2: lot of ice time. It was you know, at the
- 1:58Speaker 2: end of the day, it was a little bit of
- 1:59Speaker 2: a tight game. And you know, I thought Tolvy was hard.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I thought he played hard. I thought he you know,
- 2:06Speaker 2: he did a good job. He's I think he's second
- 2:09Speaker 2: on our team in hits and he just hasn't quite
- 2:12Speaker 2: broken the you know, the the bubble of scoring yet.
- 2:14Speaker 2: But he has that ability and so we're looking to
- 2:18Speaker 2: we're looking to get him going. Uh you know, if
- 2:21Speaker 2: we if we want to create offense and we want
- 2:23Speaker 2: to be a little bit more of an offensive team,
- 2:26Speaker 2: we need him to start scoring. So that was the
- 2:29Speaker 2: decision for the move. And you know, we'll keep going
- 2:31Speaker 2: with that.
- 2:32Speaker 1: San Jose. They're young, they're exciting, they're inexperience, but they're
- 2:36Speaker 1: working through a lot of the issues that we've seen
- 2:38Speaker 1: over the last few seasons. A lot of folks have
- 2:40Speaker 1: built them as much must see TV in the NHL.
- 2:43Speaker 1: What about the San Jose Sharks team makes them so
- 2:47Speaker 1: dangerous even though they may not be having the results
- 2:49Speaker 1: that they would like.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Yeah, well it starts with Celebrini. You know, he is
- 2:52Speaker 2: the real deal. Uh, and he's highly competitive, So he's
- 2:55Speaker 2: a driver for that team. And uh, you know, they've
- 2:59Speaker 2: got a lot of complimentary pieces there. They've got some
- 3:02Speaker 2: youth of course, like we said, that is talented. They've
- 3:06Speaker 2: got speed and they're well coached, so you know they
- 3:11Speaker 2: realistically I mean the first two games that they played
- 3:13Speaker 2: the season, you know, they were heartbreaking overtime losses for them,
- 3:19Speaker 2: where you know they could have won those games for
- 3:22Speaker 2: sure and be you know, rate five hundred right now.
- 3:24Speaker 2: They're a highly improved hockey team, you know, and we
- 3:27Speaker 2: are going to have to be very good.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Tonight against the team like San Jose, who is very
- 3:32Speaker 1: skilled and very fast. They play more of a wide
- 3:35Speaker 1: open game. What areas of your game do you feel
- 3:38Speaker 1: have to be at their best tonight.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Well, you know, they like to your point, they are
- 3:44Speaker 2: fourteenth in the league and goals for, right and you
- 3:48Speaker 2: know they are not very high in the league goals against.
- 3:52Speaker 2: So what's the formula of beating them. You know, we've
- 3:55Speaker 2: got to shut them down. We've got to play solid
- 3:57Speaker 2: defensively and then transition that into offense. That's just ABOUTOM
- 4:00Speaker 2: one
