- 0:13Now let's get to this week's show.
- 0:23My wallet is sobbing. I can hear it.
- 0:26I can hear it in the hall now. It is breaking.
- 0:28Down crying. It turns out that Attila the
- 0:37arrogant so and so he's got a fake hammer A.
- 0:41Fake. Whoa.
- 0:43As I say, Dick. So welcome to episode 75 of the
- 0:54Religions Podcast, and this week we have a fun episode for you.
- 0:59We're going to go into a little bit of even nerdier than nerd
- 1:03stuff. We're going to go into the stats
- 1:05behind mythic legions and secondary market.
- 1:09And for that we do have stats nerd.
- 1:11His name is Rich, but unfortunately he he had little
- 1:16injury at the water park this week.
- 1:18He's our last week. He's not he's not in any danger,
- 1:22imminent danger, but he's an unfortunately unable to make the
- 1:25recording. So we still have Mal.
- 1:28How are you Mal? I'm good, I'm good.
- 1:32Keeping out of trouble. Yeah, I've got one less crease
- 1:35in my head than Rich has got these days.
- 1:38When Rich is back on, we let him have the pleasure of, of, of
- 1:41telling you all about his, his clumsiness or his unfortunate,
- 1:44but he's OK. But we do have a very special
- 1:47guest and we were going to have him anyway and we were just
- 1:49going to let him and Rich talk. So unfortunately for him, it's
- 1:53going to have to be me in the Rich role.
- 1:55So it's Matt Drake. How are you, Matt?
- 1:58Hi everyone, nice to be with you all.
- 2:01Cheers and. I guess I'll take the take the
- 2:04rich spot today and take up the hating noble bear mantle, even
- 2:09though I really don't. I like the noble bear.
- 2:11It's not my favorite, but I don't hate it.
- 2:13But this week I do. I hate that.
- 2:16Yeah, it's cool. Yeah, we even have you in his
- 2:17spot on the screen. So there you go, everything.
- 2:21So Matt, if you. Well, if you've maybe heard him
- 2:25when we did our chats with all the, the, a lot of the Patreon
- 2:28members, that was a couple of episodes ago.
- 2:31But Matt also has a YouTube channel called Toiletics, which
- 2:36delves into the kind of secondary market analysis of the
- 2:42toy lines, the various legions toy lines.
- 2:45And, and Matt is kind of doing that because it's kind of
- 2:50tangentially related to his career and he's that area of
- 2:54expertise. So why not bring your area of
- 2:57expertise into your hobbies? Isn't that right, Matt?
- 2:59Yeah, I needed to learn how to use some software, so I figured
- 3:03I might as well do it with something that with some data
- 3:06that I actually wanted to look at rather than just some fake
- 3:08data or some. Yeah, payroll data or purchase
- 3:12order data or things like. Oh yeah, yeah.
- 3:13Figured it'd be a lot more interesting to do it this way so
- 3:16that. Sounds good.
- 3:16Yeah. Rather than just yeah, trying to
- 3:18work out the cost of ice creams and and profitability of an ice
- 3:21cream truck or something. Yeah, this sounds good.
- 3:25And so just a few little housekeeping things before we
- 3:28get into the meat of the episode and this week, so before you and
- 3:34hopefully if you listen to this on the release date and Friday,
- 3:37this Saturday, there is a Legion St. team out out and about there
- 3:41in Charlie's Collectibles show in just outside Atlanta, GA.
- 3:46And so Ginger Kid Collect Collectibles is the street team
- 3:50there and they'll have the Legions at the normal show
- 3:53prices. So I suppose $40.00 for a
- 3:56standard figure and the rest as as they normally would with a
- 4:02couple of dollars on top. They have big Dub there as well.
- 4:07He's doing a lot of promoting for that event and he's involved
- 4:11in a raffle which the first prize is a Jordan Rune Shaper
- 4:17test shot. And I know firstly they're quite
- 4:20rare because I think as you know, test shots are rare.
- 4:22But I think there's only 10 of Jordan and the studio.
- 4:26I think we're good enough to give big Dub this Jordan for the
- 4:31raffle. And that means that there was
- 4:34actually nine out there. So they were even harder.
- 4:38So that's a little bit related to what we're going to talk
- 4:40about in a way. I think test shots would be very
- 4:44difficult to to analyze Matt, unless you had a couple of years
- 4:48worth of data really. I, I do collect it, but you're
- 4:51right, there's not a lot of sales on them.
- 4:52So it's there and maybe a few years from now I can look at it,
- 4:56but. You're right, there is.
- 4:57So you'd need to go on active to go maybe into the, there's a
- 5:00Facebook group called the Hall of Legends or something.
- 5:03They do a lot of trading. So you'd probably need to to
- 5:05track the posts there. But anyway, and every $40
- 5:09purchase. So that's if you buy standard
- 5:11figure at the stall, the retailer table there, you get an
- 5:14entry into the raffle with an extra entry for every $100 that
- 5:20you spend at the table. So lots of ways.
- 5:23I know that for example, Wyatt from the Mythical Neighbours,
- 5:26he's really mad keen on completing the Basilia faction.
- 5:30That's his favorite faction of test shots.
- 5:33So he's a test shot collector. So he was trying to get somebody
- 5:37who was going to the show to enter for him.
- 5:39So I think I think he might have got somebody, but even then he's
- 5:43not guaranteed to win. But I suppose it's worth a shot.
- 5:45But then if he finds out who wins, he'll be, he'd be chasing
- 5:49them online at least to try and seek and they do deal with them.
- 5:54So that's a fun one. So look out for that one and
- 5:57maybe just follow a big dub on the Cabal and on his page and on
- 6:02his channel and you'll get a little bit of insight into that
- 6:05event if you haven't a chance to go or if you're not nearby.
- 6:09Because of course, America is a very big country.
- 6:12So even if you're, that's why these.
- 6:13Three team events are great it's because people who can't get to
- 6:17some of the major cons, they can get down to the ones where
- 6:21they're visiting and. Is there any, is there anything
- 6:23ever near you, Matt, during the year or power?
- 6:26Con is actually close to me, so next year I'm hoping.
- 6:29That when power con. Comes back.
- 6:30Columbus is less than three hours away, so.
- 6:33There you go Well, Mal has always been Matt.
- 6:35Well, I mean we all are, but Mal has been particularly mad keen
- 6:38to get to power con because he can actually go to these things,
- 6:43cash depending of course, more than once a year.
- 6:48Well, A. Couple of a couple of friends
- 6:49who'd like to do power cut. There you go.
- 6:51Yeah, yeah. Oh yeah.
- 6:52One of your mates is a he's a. He does the cons in UK, doesn't
- 6:55he cover that? Yeah, he does a lot of geek
- 6:59explorer. He's got his own YouTube, not
- 7:01little, his own YouTube channel. Yeah, yeah.
- 7:05So yeah, that would that's that would be a cool 1 to get to.
- 7:09And of course it's not just legions, which is always fun
- 7:12when there's a big legions presence, but also other stuff.
- 7:15So you really, you really get value for your trip there if
- 7:19you're collecting a lot of things.
- 7:21So there you go. That's the housekeeping out of
- 7:23the way. Nothing else, Mel, that you
- 7:25spotted this week and no. Well, a little bit of news, the,
- 7:30I don't know, Mythic adjacent just to continue from our
- 7:33previous episode, the Brutal Realms Kickstarter starters up
- 7:38yesterday. Yeah, yeah, some interesting
- 7:41looking figures. They're going the route of
- 7:43international shipping and international orders will have
- 7:47to be done through Big Bad Toy Store.
- 7:49So that'll be that'll be interesting.
- 7:51To see. It's just a shame for for the
- 7:54Kickstarter that they don't get the international money to kind
- 7:57of get them over the goal in the 1st place, you know, or, or to
- 8:00the stretch goals. So.
- 8:01Well, it's also there's probably going to be a bit of a premium
- 8:04on top and not the deals for multiples, so.
- 8:08Yeah, tricky one, but that is a kind of.
- 8:10A. The kickstart.
- 8:12I mean, Matt, you, you've got to come in here now because this,
- 8:14this is a kind of a noble bearer adjacent to Kickstart.
- 8:17I don't want any parts of it then.
- 8:22There you go, which is going to be so proud.
- 8:27My wallet is not sobbing on. That, but they do look cool.
- 8:32I mean, of course this is they look.
- 8:33Very cool. Like a like a lot of these
- 8:36things, I mean a walk was one of these where it's a small team of
- 8:40people that probably started out more as fans and customizers
- 8:44slash artists. They get into this.
- 8:46So it is a learning curve. I hope they have some kind of
- 8:50experienced tea people helping them or whatever to get it over
- 8:54the line because it's definitely not easy to, to, to get these
- 8:57things, you know, over the line for example.
- 9:00Trevor took some awesome pictures.
- 9:02He did, yeah. They're not up on the
- 9:04Kickstarter page yet, but maybe we'll see them soon.
- 9:10Or maybe they're keeping them for the social media, of course.
- 9:12And yeah, I mean, even Matt Rodriguez and his armies about
- 9:17Ashmore, he's had a lot of help from the Horsemen and from
- 9:21different people to, you know, get him going and get the this,
- 9:26you know, from the designs. OK, these guys have the designs
- 9:29done, but the production is, yeah, quite a tricky 1.
- 9:33So we wish them the best of luck.
- 9:35And I did also see on the Horseman page that the retailer
- 9:38Wave is in production. And now whether that's new or
- 9:40not, I don't know, but I hadn't seen that update before.
- 9:43Now, I know they were saying that these are going to get here
- 9:45before the end of the year, but that makes it look even more
- 9:48likely. So that's Fisher Rice, for
- 9:51example. So that what I mean, you get
- 9:53this, the heavy gunner mouth and then Fisher Rice all in the
- 9:57space of a couple of months plus a cosmic reveal in the next
- 10:02couple of weeks. So that's the other thing,
- 10:06Fisher. Rice on pre-order.
- 10:08Take all the overtime that's going.
- 10:10You know, if when people are going off in the summer holidays
- 10:12now, you're like, yeah, I'll cover for you, no problem.
- 10:16I'll just say, yeah, I'll just, I'll just clone myself and do an
- 10:20extra extra 10 hours in the office.
- 10:25Yeah. So that's that.
- 10:27And next week I'm away, but we're going to have an episode
- 10:33where we do some of the lore stories that have been recently
- 10:35published by Jeremy. So we're going to try and get
- 10:37them done and have that queued up.
- 10:40And then the week after that it will be the predictions for the
- 10:43cosmic wave, which is always a fun one for us to do writing
- 10:48things down. That's when we that's when we
- 10:52actually prepare. No, of course we prepare all
- 10:55these wonderful episodes for you.
- 10:57So that's it. So let's get into the main part
- 11:00of the episode where we let Matt do more of the token.
- 11:10Right, Matt? So I'm sure some people
- 11:12definitely heard U.S. chat a couple of weeks ago, but we kind
- 11:16of went straight into, you know, the, the topic at hand or what
- 11:20was going on was the, the new mythics wave and, but maybe just
- 11:24a little bit of background on yourself.
- 11:25So how long have you been collecting?
- 11:27What, what have you been collecting?
- 11:29I, I think I know you before from the masters of the universe
- 11:34community. I've definitely seen you post
- 11:37and and do stuff on the, for example, podcasters of the
- 11:40Universe. You were definitely active in
- 11:42that group. Absolutely.
- 11:45I I was born in in 1980, so I think pretty close to when Mal
- 11:49was right. Yeah, I'm 79, so I am the oldie
- 11:53here, damn it. November 1980 for me, Matt.
- 11:57I'm slightly older, end of September, so so when I was a
- 12:02kid I did collect a lot of action figures.
- 12:05That was my main the main toys that I had and and thankfully my
- 12:09parents kept most of them so I still to this day have most of
- 12:12my childhood collection. That's amazing.
- 12:14I was just showing you earlier my he man, a battle cat is my
- 12:17childhood one, as well as my Jabba, the hot place that that's
- 12:20there too. That's my childhood as well.
- 12:22So and and I I don't know, I was one of those kids where I never
- 12:26like to get dirty. I never like to, you know?
- 12:31Break anything. Or whatever.
- 12:32Yeah. So, so all my stuff's in pretty
- 12:35good condition other than when it degrades like the the heat
- 12:38man, like bands and things like that, but not, not a whole lot.
- 12:42I mean, some scratches and things, but they're all in in
- 12:44pretty good shape. So Masters, I do have a lot of
- 12:48Return of the Jedi items from Kenner.
- 12:52I, I did one of the things I, I did get rid of pre COVID so I
- 12:56certainly cannot foresee the future.
- 12:59I got rid of them at a very low price compared to what they
- 13:02would have gone for a few years later as all my GI Joes.
- 13:06So that would have. Been I did something similar.
- 13:08Yeah, but I don't need these. I have.
- 13:10I don't need some room. I'm not going to play with those
- 13:13anymore, you know, display them or whatever and a couple years
- 13:17later, you know, each one could have sold for three or four
- 13:20times probably what I got for them.
- 13:21But and was that before the classified line came out?
- 13:24Yes, yes, it was even before. It's probably like 2018 or early
- 13:28in 2019 that made that unfortunate decision.
- 13:33Yeah. But these things always are the
- 13:36right choice at the time, you know, I think so.
- 13:38I think we've all, we've all had similar things where we've sold
- 13:42stuff and then gone. Maybe I shouldn't have but.
- 13:45And certainly space is an issue, so I'm not sorry that I was able
- 13:50to free up some space at least. Because then you you got some
- 13:53more wonderful collectibles instead.
- 13:56So after I was about, you know, maybe 10 in the, in the early
- 14:0090s, I didn't really collect any toys.
- 14:02I was into music and, you know, sports and, and things like that
- 14:08through high school and into college and, and, and that, and
- 14:11it was only when my first daughter was born in like 2012
- 14:16that, you know, we started getting into, to toys for her,
- 14:19of course, you know, like baby toys and things.
- 14:21But once you got a little bit older, we started getting into
- 14:24Lego because she really like Lego and she like Star Wars.
- 14:28So I said, wow, there's a lot of Lego Star Wars things out there,
- 14:32right? So I started buying those for
- 14:33her and helping her build them. And as we were collecting more
- 14:39of those, you know, those sets, I, I started just looking online
- 14:44to see just in general more about toys.
- 14:47I started, you know, finding myself watching more about it.
- 14:49And then I found that there was masters classics.
- 14:53And then a couple years later I found out mythic legions and
- 14:58Star Wars black series and, you know, things like that.
- 15:00So that that kind of started, I would say I've, I've been
- 15:03actively collecting as an adult US for about 10 years.
- 15:07Wow, yeah, that's, that's similar to me.
- 15:09I started back into getting Lego sets and around the time my kids
- 15:13were born as well. And then, yeah, Googling found
- 15:16MOTU Classics, could not figure out that subscription thing.
- 15:20Now it was in the middle of a year, so I suppose the
- 15:23subscription wasn't open at the time.
- 15:24I was looking it up and I was like, oh, look at all these
- 15:27great figures and I can't order them.
- 15:30How was this? And oh, yeah, I didn't, yeah.
- 15:33I just wasn't in it enough to kind of grab it.
- 15:36And just from the kind of reading of the website, I
- 15:39couldn't grasp the concept that it might not be possible to
- 15:41purchase something that's possible to purchase at some
- 15:45point. So yeah.
- 15:47And excellent. So and you have you have a
- 15:52dedicated room for for your stuff or do you kind of?
- 15:56It's kind of all over the place. I do have a dedicated room where
- 16:00a lot of it is stored. I wouldn't say displayed.
- 16:03So I'm I'm slightly better than the Dollar General bags, but but
- 16:07not much. I have some some shelves, but
- 16:10it's it's it's pretty cluttered. It's what I just showed you.
- 16:13I'm here in my office recording and that's most of of what I
- 16:17have on display is actually in my office.
- 16:19So I have to come by and, you know, look at it and, you know,
- 16:24maybe look at me a little bit strangely afterwards or try to
- 16:26get out of my office as quickly as possible.
- 16:28But I guess that's a pretty good thing too.
- 16:30People tend to linger, right? Yeah, that's their problem
- 16:33though, you know, And then the stats thing, obviously that
- 16:36comes with your job and you're a teacher, professor is that.
- 16:41Right. Yeah, I'm a professor at
- 16:42Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, in the US, and
- 16:46I've been here for 18 years. Actually, my undergrad degree is
- 16:51from Duquesne, so I came back and I'm teaching at my undergrad
- 16:56institution. And are you from Pennsylvania as
- 16:59well? Yeah.
- 17:00I also lived in Ohio too, but that general area Pennsylvania
- 17:04and Ohio other than when I went to Georgia Tech for my PhD in
- 17:09Atlanta. So.
- 17:10Very good. So he's he's definitely open the
- 17:13intelligence this podcast this week, man.
- 17:15Well. Hopefully the interest level as
- 17:18well. I don't, I don't know, right?
- 17:20I. Don't know, we have lots of As.
- 17:22Interesting as they always we have.
- 17:26Lots of episodes, you certainly can't please everyone every week
- 17:30and we try and do our best people enjoy them and whatever
- 17:33topic we do, we try and make it enjoyable as we will this one
- 17:37and as you will Matt, because I really enjoyed my chat
- 17:40previously with you. I like chatting to you on her
- 17:43Discord and all those different things that we chat in.
- 17:45So let's go for it right. I had to make.
- 17:50A an academic level presentation with some terrible graphics.
- 17:53Yeah, I love it. I love.
- 17:57It so I can already grab your logo for yeah.
- 18:00I I can send you the an image. Oh, perfect.
- 18:03Yeah, you do that and. My logo I tried to be as old
- 18:08school as possible with. Some.
- 18:09Yeah. I like it.
- 18:10Yeah. Yeah.
- 18:10You know, you have to. That was really good.
- 18:12You have to do it you to lean so far in so that it looks like
- 18:16yeah, he's purposely doing that. Not that absolutely, just
- 18:19grabbed a computer for the 1st. And yeah, I, I, I generated as
- 18:24many logos as it would let me so.
- 18:26I love it. I love it.
- 18:27Yeah. So this is related to.
- 18:30So if you have been following at all or have seen any toiletics
- 18:34videos and you will see that Matt has kind of quarterly
- 18:39uploads. So you obviously can't really
- 18:43analyze in any good way the the secondary market week to week.
- 18:46You have to kind of pick it. It didn't make sense.
- 18:49There's not a whole lot of changes week to week.
- 18:51It's quarterly seem like a reasonable update level to me.
- 18:54Yeah, exactly. And that makes sense.
- 18:56It's probably for the YouTube algorithm, it's not the best
- 19:00because you're kind of, you're active, really active and then
- 19:03down and and people always say you should be one a week, but
- 19:07yeah, that doesn't make sense for this type of stuff.
- 19:09So I kicked. Around an idea of of maybe doing
- 19:12some more like what's available currently, maybe some good deals
- 19:16and things like that in the meantime, like in between to
- 19:18fill that gap. But seems like a good idea.
- 19:22Yeah. And then I've also started
- 19:24collecting other lines of data. I've collected Mondo he masters
- 19:29the Mondo masters line as well as I'm going to start Savage
- 19:33Crucible because I can start from the beginning.
- 19:36That's a good one. Yeah.
- 19:37Yeah. A bit like Cosmic, you can start
- 19:39I guess with, well, I mean, obviously you get into it, but
- 19:42just to from an overall, I guess Cosmic now with the sale going
- 19:45on and the prices must be reasonably flat.
- 19:49I know Slog was maybe up there for a little while, but he seems
- 19:53to be available again now at the retailers and some of them at
- 19:56least. We'll get into that.
- 19:57Yeah, OK, cool. So you give us a background then
- 20:00on on. Yeah, you were.
- 20:02We're talking about. Here, so I always like to try to
- 20:03set expectations here and you know I am in the US so this is
- 20:07going to be AUS perspective. I know we're on your allegiance,
- 20:10so everything I. It's a relative and you won't
- 20:14get enough data over here so. Yeah, it's directly related to
- 20:18the US, but I think, you know, on an ancillary basis, a lot of
- 20:22the same sorts of dynamics are at play abroad, you know, in
- 20:26other. Parts, I remember occasionally
- 20:29you've had an outlier for whatever reason.
- 20:30Like I remember Torgan Redfin for example, when he was going
- 20:33for like 100 and plus on in the US, he was still at retailers
- 20:39here for a while, but that was in that period where kind of the
- 20:44retail distribution wasn't quite as ramped up as it is now and
- 20:48there was just a bit of a discrepancy.
- 20:50And yeah, it was very hard to get him in the US and it's like
- 20:53really easy here, but doesn't really happen anymore.
- 20:57So the the data that I've collected is all complete
- 21:00single, single figure sales. So there's no, lots of figures,
- 21:04there's no parts, there's no incomplete figures because it's
- 21:08hard to separate. Even with a lot of two of the
- 21:11same character, it's hard to know if they sold for $90.00, is
- 21:15that 45 each or is that, you know, would they have sold for
- 21:1850 individually and then somebody got, you know, gave a
- 21:21little discount for 40. So I, I, there's enough
- 21:23individual sales that I just focused on that.
- 21:28I did though, include both new and loose or repacked figures.
- 21:32So I've made note on every data point I collect, whether it's
- 21:35loose, repacked or new. And eventually I could go
- 21:39through and and see one of the things I'd like to do.
- 21:41I don't have this today, but one of the things I would like to do
- 21:43is see is there a premium for? Yeah, that would be.
- 21:47Versus loose and. Very useful information for
- 21:50people that are maybe buying the eyeball.
- 21:52Test is that for a lot of characters, no right?
- 21:55For a lot of characters the the loose and repacked price is
- 21:58basically the same, but I think for some characters there are so
- 22:02there is a difference. So anyway, the the old answer,
- 22:06it depends, right? Yeah, unfortunately.
- 22:09Yeah. But you could probably see
- 22:11logically that, you know, it might be a exclusive packaging
- 22:14for example, right? Something like that.
- 22:18Sales for figures released in All Stars and Reinforcements and
- 22:21The Mysteries of Mythos Mystery Box Wave are not distinct from
- 22:24sales of original releases, mainly because the sellers on
- 22:27eBay do not know what they have. Yeah, So they they don't know
- 22:31whether some some of them do, but for the most part they don't
- 22:34know whether it's a one point O wave figure or an All Stars
- 22:38three wave Malleus for for example.
- 22:41And then I did separate figures in convention packaging such as
- 22:46like Vorgas 2 from Legion Con separate from the standard.
- 22:49So that's that is a separate listing there.
- 22:52So looking at the data itself and and John sent me a bunch of
- 22:58questions ahead of time. So this is the data that I
- 23:00pulled together for today. These are the largest increase
- 23:04in average price from quarter one to quarter 2 of 2024.
- 23:09So the this is in dollars and then the next slide is in
- 23:12percentage. Got you.
- 23:15OK. So looking at the list for
- 23:18especially our podcast listeners, right, the number one
- 23:22increase was throat, iron jaw going from 27230 up to four,
- 23:261642, an increase of $144.12. The thing with these though is
- 23:34that a lot of them like Etheron is on the list, Ray Gore is on
- 23:39the list, Gold Skeleton, Keltus, there's not a lot of sales.
- 23:44So whenever you see a few sales, you're generally going to see a
- 23:48lot more variability in price because if somebody really wants
- 23:51that figure, they have to buy it at the price that somebody has
- 23:55it posted for at the time. And sometimes that price is
- 23:58really high, sometimes that price is pretty low in
- 24:01comparison to what it has been going for a couple weeks ago or
- 24:05a couple months ago, for instance.
- 24:08It's interesting to see Gideon Heaven's Brandon Atlas the
- 24:11Conqueror on there. I would have assumed that you're
- 24:14more likely to see a drop in the price of those because of the
- 24:18two version twos that we're. Getting well now see that's a
- 24:22that's a good point. But that drop happened in
- 24:24quarter one. Right.
- 24:26OK, interesting. Because they were, they were
- 24:28revealed in November of last year.
- 24:31So the drop was in quarter one. And now they've come back up
- 24:34again because people, at least some people have realized maybe,
- 24:37maybe some people don't know another one's coming, but other
- 24:39people have realized maybe I still want that older figure
- 24:42too. Right.
- 24:44So I think if you looked at it across, it would be about the
- 24:46same level or maybe a little bit lower than it was in 2023.
- 24:51And this second one, the gold skeleton, that's really
- 24:53interesting because he was in the this recent wave, the now
- 24:57maybe the some of these. Sales, sales may have been in
- 25:00April and May, yeah, before that was was launched.
- 25:02I don't, I don't even know if any sold in June to be honest.
- 25:05So I think those were all in April and May.
- 25:08Same in the night. I wonder then if and you could,
- 25:11you'll know this better than I do Matt, I'm guessing the gold
- 25:14skeleton in the night, we may then see a drop in the next
- 25:18quarter. I would expect, yeah,
- 25:20absolutely. And I did see, I, I did pay
- 25:23attention to the night in June, they were selling for 1:20 to
- 25:281:50 and and the price right now for all of quarter two was $247.
- 25:34Wow. So.
- 25:35Yeah, they were selling for two 5300 in April and May, and now
- 25:41they're selling for 1:20 to 1:50.
- 25:43Wow, 120 would would be tempting almost and.
- 25:47By the by the way, the the names here are all from source
- 25:51Horsemen, so they're some of them aren't what people really
- 25:53call them. The Knight is the original
- 25:55knight builder, yeah. Yeah.
- 25:57I just pull the name from source horsemen and people can complain
- 26:00about with them if they if they have the if they don't like the
- 26:04name that I use. And I see Jorund has continued
- 26:08his Yeah, pretty. High, too.
- 26:10Yeah. Up $76 from 187 to 263.
- 26:15And Ray Gore? Not surprising.
- 26:17Similar increase, 295 to 365. And I'll be, I'll be rich.
- 26:21I'm just really upset to see that Ravenna there.
- 26:25Yeah, because I know that's his least favorite figure.
- 26:27He def, if he sees this, he's definitely not going to have a
- 26:30Ravenna anymore on his chef. Even if he didn't, if he has
- 26:33one, Yeah, yeah. Or he'd be gutted that he sold
- 26:36it for 50 a couple of years ago here or something.
- 26:40What's crazy too, is that Etheron started quarter one at
- 26:447:20 and he went up, yeah, just under 8.
- 26:48And we have Keltus of course, which you know there was there a
- 26:53sale of on Canon on during quarter 32 there was.
- 26:58Yes, but he didn't go up. He's, he's coming.
- 27:01Got you. OK.
- 27:02Yes. So this is the same list in
- 27:04percentage, Yeah, so. Yes, the same one in percentage,
- 27:07kind of kind of strange that you have like the night weapons sold
- 27:12$43 in quarter one and then up to 60 in quarter two, which is a
- 27:17just under 40% increase. Yeah, although I think people
- 27:20would, you know, as people normally look at dollar terms
- 27:24when it's at that price, they probably wouldn't be too
- 27:28bothered. But if there's a 40% increase
- 27:30when it's like 300 to 400, right, exactly, then they're
- 27:34like, whoa, yeah, so, but yeah, definitely interesting that they
- 27:38kind of pop in there a Lithia as well as is.
- 27:41Yeah, not surprising to see a Lithia on the bottom there
- 27:43because of the the the swapping possibilities with Thrace.
- 27:50Yes, kind of continued to go up. Yeah, you see all these when you
- 27:54when you know what's going on in the line.
- 27:56You can you can definitely read into these figures quite well as
- 28:01as well popping up there now she might again come she.
- 28:04Might go back down again. Yeah, exactly.
- 28:07So yeah, she was up 45% or so from 1:11 to 160.
- 28:13Wow, so. I'm guessing people that got her
- 28:16for 160 may be able to get her cheaper now.
- 28:19I'm not sure, but you would kind of expect that to be the case.
- 28:23Definitely. I mean the second one is, you
- 28:26know the first one, OK, if you if you're complete just maybe
- 28:28and you want the both versions, but the second one is definitely
- 28:31better and you don't lose out anything from the first version
- 28:34I would say. Absolutely.
- 28:38All right, and. Largely it's it's the same and
- 28:40and. Even like.
- 28:41Dollar wise, like a Lithia was maybe 15th this in the list as
- 28:44well. You know, just a few nudged her
- 28:47out, you know, because I just looked at the top 10.
- 28:51Gotcha. And and then.
- 28:53All right, so here's the. Decreases number one.
- 28:56Look at that. This is good.
- 28:59So there was an Unken and and if you watch Nerdzoic on YouTube,
- 29:04he also brought this up in January or so.
- 29:07I think I remember him $1500. Yeah, and that was the only one.
- 29:12So the average price was 15, you know, 1515 after shipping.
- 29:17And he's come down to 4:50. So that's a drop of $1067.
- 29:21So that's a fake drop, right? I mean, we all know that he
- 29:24wasn't worth $1500. I mean, who really knows if
- 29:28that's a real sale. I mean everything looks.
- 29:29That would be my other thing it. Looks like a normal sale.
- 29:32I mean it doesn't show anything different, but you know who
- 29:35knows with so few sales themselves like you know, the
- 29:41top look at the top three here we have unkind Sir Valgard and
- 29:43Otho as the top three decreases percentage or in in dollars.
- 29:49But again, there's very few there, so selling.
- 29:52But their prices are still, you know, 45443 for Valgard and 3:55
- 29:58for Otos. So right, still very high.
- 30:01The the 4th on the list is an obvious drop I think given.
- 30:06Yes, Orthock. Yeah, given that I.
- 30:09Was surprised he sold for 180 in quarter one.
- 30:11Yeah, I mean that seems like a really overpay there.
- 30:15Yeah. 71, you know, 99 seems a lot more reasonable in quarter
- 30:19too. You know what's really
- 30:20surprising about Gorethock is I've been doing this for a year.
- 30:24I've been collecting data for a year since July 1st of last year
- 30:28and the less than 10 sales on eBay for Gorethock super low
- 30:34like that figure does not come up at all at least historically,
- 30:38right. Obviously with all sort of six
- 30:40we're going to get a lot more availability.
- 30:41So that's a really, that's a really good re release for
- 30:44people that want him because he is just not available.
- 30:48Yeah, I remember listening to the My Wife's going to Kill Me a
- 30:51podcast a good few years ago, and they're one of their mates.
- 30:57Joe Crazy Bill. He bought like about 20 Gore
- 31:01talks, you know, he was collecting them.
- 31:05And yeah, so he's probably the only ones, but he's just he,
- 31:09there's so many of those local guys there that they that he
- 31:12just probably doesn't say they. Don't have any bit on eBay they.
- 31:15Can sell and yeah. At a swap or whatever.
- 31:17And Gortat can be a bit of an army builder as well, because
- 31:20you've got the helmeted head and the unhelmeted head.
- 31:23So yeah. And now we have the shadow orc.
- 31:26I would have expected, yeah, maybe people do want to go talk
- 31:29now for their Shadow or Carmy, but obviously he's coming in All
- 31:32Star Six. So you can, you can definitely,
- 31:35yeah. Yeah.
- 31:36He'd have to see a drop there back down to 50 almost, you
- 31:40know, maybe a little bit about 50 just to kind of keep the
- 31:45uniqueness maybe of the packaging or something.
- 31:48I don't know. Gorgo at the Blade.
- 31:51That's the original. Original.
- 31:53Yeah, that's the original 1. So his average price is now 46.
- 31:58Yeah, that's just a couple sales.
- 31:59And and what can happen when you only see a couple sales is I
- 32:02believe those are those are all loose, they are complete,
- 32:04they're all loose. So that loose versus new has a
- 32:08lot more of an impact when you're only dealing with a few
- 32:11sales. If all of the ones are new that
- 32:15with a higher price and then you know all the ones in another
- 32:17period of time are loose, chances are you know you may be
- 32:21seeing a little bit of that loose versus new issue in
- 32:24addition to just the character losing value.
- 32:26Got you. And then, yeah.
- 32:28So if you want a Gorgo original. Version.
- 32:31Now is definitely the time to to maybe try to look for one, yeah.
- 32:37OK. We have probably only one sale
- 32:38on Sir Galleron, I guess. I think there were two 'cause
- 32:42that have I'm not sure. Yeah, very again very few 34999
- 32:47to 27218 still pretty, pretty high.
- 32:50I think they're I think they're two though, maybe 3.
- 32:53Zylon of Faunus and Snag are the last three on these decreases.
- 32:58Yeah. So the other, you know, we're
- 32:59going to talk a little later about the Mysteries of Mythos.
- 33:02That's a little bit of a preview for the Mysteries of Mythos.
- 33:04Impact is Faunus and Snag on there.
- 33:07They're dropping down. Yeah.
- 33:09All righty. Let's move along.
- 33:11So that's in percentage. What?
- 33:12Is there any differences there? Yeah, there, there's a few,
- 33:15right. So certainly unken still at the
- 33:16top, Ortho is is next, but down at the bottom the Gorgo and
- 33:22Attila 2 pack is kind of interesting.
- 33:24That's the signature version, the one that was signed by the
- 33:27Horseman. Not a lot of sales on those.
- 33:30I think I think that was just one with shipping that added up
- 33:34to one O 280. That pack is really reasonable
- 33:40on the secondary market compared to its original price.
- 33:44I think it was 100. It was 100.
- 33:46Yeah, 110 with the signature. There you go.
- 33:48Yeah. So even the the just the regular
- 33:52one, that one obviously sells more often.
- 33:54The non sign version generally, you know, I I would say
- 33:58somewhere around 125 even shipped is about what you know,
- 34:04a pretty good price would be for those.
- 34:06What's interesting is some like Attila, the Attila two, he sells
- 34:10like 80 on his own. It's an excellent 2 pack.
- 34:13It's surprising to see that perhaps it's one of those where
- 34:18people feel they only need one of them.
- 34:20So there's not the the amount, you know, being sold.
- 34:25People are after that Attila 2 head for the cosmic mouth.
- 34:28Yeah, quite possibly. Yeah, quite possibly.
- 34:33Himself goes for the the higher price than the Gorgo does,
- 34:37definitely. I wouldn't have said that when
- 34:40you when they announced it back in the day.
- 34:41So it's amazing, isn't it? Yeah.
- 34:44And then the last one there is interesting as well, the deluxe
- 34:47female orc builder, so. Yeah, I've got a little more
- 34:49analysis on this as well. This is the one without the
- 34:53extra head. OK, so this is the one that came
- 34:57the tactics Orc female. The tax tactic one, but without
- 35:01the extra head. Yeah, not the forged founder
- 35:03version. And she's dropped down to 84,
- 35:05which is 25%. 25% drop. Interesting.
- 35:12Right now this, this I found interesting on your videos was
- 35:15the the number of sales. So pick out some highlights
- 35:18there for us. Yeah.
- 35:19So we have two numbers here for every entry.
- 35:22The top number is the number of sales in each quarter from the
- 35:25faction, and then the bottom is the average price.
- 35:28Now the average price is a little bit misleading I would
- 35:31say, because you've got weapons packs, you've got wings, you've
- 35:36got, you know, large figures, 2 packs, you know that sort of
- 35:40thing. So, you know, maybe take that
- 35:42one with a little bit of a grain of salt, but the the numbers
- 35:45that are more interesting here would be the number of of actual
- 35:48sales and probably not surprising.
- 35:52Aerothere is is number one by far right.
- 35:54So this data shows like 9000 observations.
- 35:58I have over 10,000 If you add things like, you know, no
- 36:03faction NA faction special releases, unknown one.
- 36:08I didn't put that sort of stuff in there.
- 36:09The only one that's different is the legions of light.
- 36:11That's the that's. The Valiant night, isn't it the.
- 36:14Valiant night. Exactly because he, you know, he
- 36:16sells so many and I figured it was worthwhile to put him in
- 36:19there. That's interesting.
- 36:20So we have nearly, so we have 9000 sales of Mythic Legions
- 36:25figures in the quarter. I would say over 10,000 if you
- 36:28look. Oh yeah.
- 36:29All the other pieces, yeah, these are just the.
- 36:32This is just part of a faction, yeah.
- 36:34Wow. And again, that's an.
- 36:36That's an understatement because I don't cover.
- 36:39The Facebook sales and all you. Know lots of figures I don't
- 36:43cover figures that might be missing a sword or a second head
- 36:48or something like that too right so the definitely a an
- 36:51underestimate yeah of of how much?
- 36:53And this is just eBay, right? Of course, we have the cabal and
- 36:55we have other places that these are sold to.
- 36:58Wow. So let's look at the most the
- 37:02most in expensive an average that.
- 37:06Would be, I think Etheron is the most expensive probably because
- 37:09you know, you get some real big heavy hitters there with Etheron
- 37:12and Dalgard. Yeah, we have.
- 37:16So Basilia is is also high? Yep.
- 37:20Mainly because like if you look at the, if you look at the top
- 37:24like 5 figures there, they're all over $150.00.
- 37:29You've got, you know, Balaam, you've got as a, yeah, some
- 37:35other ones too, that are Hera. True, Yeah, they're hard to get
- 37:39now. Yeah, Yeah.
- 37:40I just, I still have trouble getting my head around them
- 37:43being so high on the secondary market because that was around
- 37:48the time I got into the line and they were easy to get and I
- 37:53never ever thought about buying them on the secondary market.
- 37:55Whereas wave one, I always think of all they must be high because
- 37:59I miss them. You know, just a little bit of
- 38:02self bias there. And I also see it's interesting
- 38:04that the the House of the Noble Bear averages a higher price
- 38:07than it is brewed. So there you go, rich.
- 38:11Chew on that one. That's the same thing again
- 38:14there, isn't it? A number of them are older
- 38:17figures, yeah. Yeah, that'll come down come the
- 38:19Rising Suns way being released. It's just because they're more
- 38:22awesome figures. Now come on, it's true.
- 38:25Well, they they were absolutely due a release, that's the thing.
- 38:29And yeah, they're going to get more awesome with the new ones.
- 38:32I think so. Absolutely.
- 38:34I think what's also, if you go one back just for a second,
- 38:37John, the other thing too is that Aerothere, you know, number
- 38:39#1 as far as the number of sales, not surprising because
- 38:42there's so many figures, right? But #2 Xylone's flock also over
- 38:48almost 1300 sales there too. So lots of sales for Xylone's
- 38:52flock. The flock is good and the the
- 38:55average, so the average price of allegiance figure.
- 38:59Now that could be of course bigger figures taken into
- 39:02account, but even still an average of 88.
- 39:06So if you're picking up allegiance figure for the direct
- 39:10pre-order price, you're doing OK.
- 39:13You're doing pretty well. Yep.
- 39:15So here I looked individually at the highest number of sales and
- 39:19I sorted just by quarter 2 of 2024.
- 39:24So #1 Tide, Valiant Knight, and Swig.
- 39:27Wow, SWIG. 47 each. There might have been a bit of a
- 39:32bit of selling after the blind boxes for SWIG.
- 39:36I think big time. Yeah, I think, I think that
- 39:39Jeremy guy knows what he's doing.
- 39:43I think he's a pretty good marketer.
- 39:45Yeah, exactly. And now he's.
- 39:47Coming out with that story, I'm pretty sure that that generated
- 39:51some sales. Yeah, that's for sure.
- 39:53That's for sure. Yeah, yeah, I, I, that's funny
- 39:56little one here because I was talking last week about that.
- 39:58I'm going to do a swig for, you know, the 1000 swigs thing that
- 40:00we were talking about last week that Mal has done.
- 40:03And then we didn't have an extra Swigs to go and buy one.
- 40:07So I was doing the I was doing, I was picking up a couple of
- 40:11cosmic figures in the sale. So I threw a swig into the
- 40:15basket to to get my swig for customizing.
- 40:19So there you go, there's another one sold.
- 40:25You know, the rest of the list is mostly newer figures of
- 40:28course. Kind of makes sense that that
- 40:30would be the case. Couple of the the re releases
- 40:34though from the mysteries of mythos we have Snag and Zaria 32
- 40:38and 33 and then the Elf Ranger at 32 as well.
- 40:42Nice. In the quarter.
- 40:45So and then yeah, some of the others are from the in stock
- 40:48sale that was kind of start of the year each February.
- 40:51So if you think about it, it's really interesting to me.
- 40:54I mean, it's data, so I don't know.
- 40:56It's, it's good. You got to be interested in
- 40:59some, you know, respect in everything regardless.
- 41:03But if you think about like you know what, what do we have on
- 41:07the previous slide, we had 9000 sales right over the year that
- 41:11we looked at. If you divide that up, you've
- 41:13got about, you know, 22150 or so per quarter and the biggest
- 41:18number of sales is still less than 50.
- 41:21Yeah. Think about how many figures we
- 41:23have in this line if that's the case.
- 41:26Yeah. That's true 20. 250 and the most
- 41:29popular figure as far as the number of figures sold is still
- 41:32less than 50. Yeah.
- 41:35That's crazy. That's crazy it.
- 41:36Shows how big this line is. Yeah, it sure does.
- 41:38And how consistent it is kind of at, at the releases.
- 41:41I would say at this point it would have been, I think of
- 41:47course the hindsight's 2020, but you would have had a bonanza
- 41:50with this during the the first year of COVID.
- 41:53So 2020, because there was very little released from the studio
- 41:58because you know, they, they obviously it was hard to
- 42:01manufacture stuff. Everything was delayed.
- 42:03And everything was delayed etcetera.
- 42:05So and Big Bad had a lot of stuff on pre-order but nothing
- 42:09really in stock. So yeah, it would have been fun.
- 42:12And so the top 12 Grail figures, basically.
- 42:16So you asked. For Grails, yeah.
- 42:18I've got three pieces of data here.
- 42:20The Gray bar is the average, the blue dot is the minimum that
- 42:25they sold for 1/4 to, and the orange dot is the maximum.
- 42:29Right. So Uncan is around, is, is kind
- 42:32of the steadiest there. Yeah, he's, he's the top one.
- 42:35So I'm just going to read down the top 12 and then we can
- 42:39maybe. And I and I did 12 just because
- 42:41that's what the screen showed at once.
- 42:43I didn't want to cut it, I just figured 12 was good enough, so
- 42:47rather than 10. If you have somewhere all of
- 42:49these you can, you can feel happy but uncan.
- 42:54Sir Valgard Thord, Iron Jaw, Celtus Ray Gore, gold skeleton,
- 43:00so could see him drop out of this list possibly and Adam on
- 43:05Otto born steel hide Sir Galleron Jordan, rune shaper and
- 43:11the are there an eighth on two pack?
- 43:15So interesting. Now that is a 2 pack.
- 43:18So maybe they're cheating because you know, it's two
- 43:19figures, but still, it's it's one pack.
- 43:23It's one thing and they were actually sold to at the intern
- 43:28last year. So people that went to intern,
- 43:32there's always a little sale where you can buy a couple of
- 43:36figures or whatever. And they actually had this two
- 43:38pack. So people bought it for the was
- 43:42was 100 is the price of the two pack possibly.
- 43:46So they would have made a good deal even if they didn't want
- 43:49it. I think what's also interesting
- 43:53too is if you add the individual prices of Aerithea and Aethon,
- 43:58they exceed 250. Yeah, because Aethon is about
- 44:02175. Oh, is he?
- 44:04Yeah, he's gone up significantly.
- 44:07Oh I haven't, my next video is going.
- 44:08To be here, I haven't. I haven't recorded it yet, but
- 44:11the next one I'm doing is. Is oh, interesting.
- 44:15Yeah. And also, I suppose Aerithea is
- 44:17also coming around to if we had that cycle of, you know, the
- 44:21versus factions that's now over and we now don't know what we're
- 44:27getting in this G con, But if you were to follow the same
- 44:32cycle again, we would be back to Arith here.
- 44:35But I guess they'll probably do something different that's for
- 44:38future speculations. Hopefully we get a couple of
- 44:41hints to point in the right direction so that we're not
- 44:43going to make it total show about ourselves.
- 44:45But the biggest variant surprise here is Sir Valgard, and I think
- 44:53that's probably down to him being not, you know, firstly,
- 44:57he's we know. I think we know what don't can
- 45:00as well and the MO to ones that they're not going to be redone
- 45:05again. But Valgard is the first
- 45:07Kickstarter exclusive, so very hard to get him even for sale no
- 45:13matter what you're willing to pay.
- 45:15I don't know which is what gutted it from the person who's
- 45:19sold for 2:50 or the person who's paid 800.
- 45:25If I remember correctly, the 800 is a new one.
- 45:28Was definitely a new one and the 250 was a was.
- 45:31A was an older one. Yeah, yeah.
- 45:33Oh, wasn't used one. OK, did it was.
- 45:35A loose Yeah, it was. OK.
- 45:37Yeah, because I guess the bio card would be importance for for
- 45:41someone like Valgard I. Consider the bio card as
- 45:44important. It is one of the things that I'm
- 45:46like them got a full package. I would consider it important
- 45:51for older figures, yeah. If I'm getting, you know, extras
- 45:57or once, you know, if I would army build a couple of figures,
- 46:01then I'm not really worried, yeah.
- 46:03Exactly that. Yeah, yeah.
- 46:05The what may be surprising, I think to me is that Otho's so
- 46:09low. He's about, you know, 8th or
- 46:129th. We think of him being number
- 46:13one. But if you look at that, that's
- 46:15one sale because the men, the Max and the average is all the
- 46:19same number. Right, so.
- 46:21It it's one sale, so if you look at the minimums, he's the second
- 46:25most expensive. Yeah, that's right.
- 46:29So this is the problem with having such little data with
- 46:33some of these figures. But this is where you can, you
- 46:36know, revisit it year on year even, and you will your figures
- 46:41will get more and more accurate over time.
- 46:45But it still shows you I think if you asked and fairly
- 46:48knowledgeable Legions fan to name the top 12 based on price
- 46:52they wouldn't get too far of these yeah, they get I'd say
- 46:56eight would be would be probably hit here for me it raises.
- 47:01An interesting question as well. What is rarity?
- 47:04Is rarity the number that are out there or the availability of
- 47:08it? And that suggests Otho is more
- 47:12rare than the others because there's only one person willing
- 47:16to let that figure go. So.
- 47:18For a price, somebody was willing to pay for it.
- 47:20Yeah, Yeah, of course. Yeah.
- 47:23Whereas some of the others, people are going Nah, Nah, that
- 47:26can go. That can possibly because of how
- 47:28much they can ask for them. But yeah, it's interesting.
- 47:34This, this next graph, I don't know why I made this originally,
- 47:39but I, I think it's kind of interesting to see that this is
- 47:41the count of the number of, of sales per day.
- 47:46So for the last, you know, 370 days or so, and there are some
- 47:52days here like September 20th and April 20th of this year,
- 47:57there were huge spikes like over 100 units sold in one day.
- 48:01Wow. And then, for the most part,
- 48:04have you dug? Deeper into any of those those
- 48:07two big spike days or. No, not significantly.
- 48:13Like did someone put their collection up for sale or
- 48:16something it. Could have been that could be
- 48:18the case because there are a lot of auctions when an auction
- 48:21ends, if somebody auctions like 50 figures, they'll.
- 48:24All be swimmed that day. Yeah.
- 48:26So that I want to say that's what happened in April because
- 48:29that data I just collected. So it's kind of fresh in my
- 48:31mind. I think that's what happened.
- 48:33But is that there were? So many.
- 48:35The other thing to say about this graph is is that it was
- 48:38June 20th. Upward trend in general.
- 48:40Yeah. So that's what I I put there is
- 48:42that there is a statistically significant trend of the amount
- 48:48of sales per day increasing over time.
- 48:50So if you look at the coefficient there in the formula
- 48:53in the little box, it says .0335 units per day that we add on
- 49:00average. So if you multiply that by 30,
- 49:02that's about one unit per day extra that we're selling per day
- 49:06every month. Wow.
- 49:07So over the course of the year, we're seeing an increase of
- 49:10somewhere around 11:50 units per day from July 1st of 23 to July
- 49:161st of 24. Be interesting to see when that
- 49:21gets to the point where the number of new fans aren't
- 49:24growing or you know, and then the prices start to in general
- 49:27come down because. Exactly.
- 49:28My thought is that this, at least to me, I mean I'm not an
- 49:31expert here, but it seems to be some indication of a healthy
- 49:35line. Yeah.
- 49:37Is that there's still a market for more and more of these
- 49:40figures selling every day. That's that seems to be good for
- 49:44me. Now, you could say, you know,
- 49:46you could have a pessimistic viewpoint too, and say, well,
- 49:49more people are dumping their collections, but somebody has to
- 49:51buy it. Yeah.
- 49:52So I mean, every transaction has to have two parties.
- 49:55So I, I don't know, it's, it's hard to tell.
- 49:58And we, and to be fair, we also know that with the older
- 50:05figures, there was a a bit a tendency for people to buy
- 50:09multiples of figures knowing that they increased in value.
- 50:15So the potential is these are older figures up to a point that
- 50:21are selling rather than the newer figures that probably
- 50:24aren't selling as many because there's more availability and
- 50:27people are aware there's more availability of the newer
- 50:30figures as well. Yeah, but again, there's many
- 50:34more retailers than they are used to be.
- 50:36True. Yes.
- 50:37So this is just eBay, right. So this is the secondary market.
- 50:40You don't have to go on the secondary market to find a lot
- 50:43of the newer figures. They're still in stock and a lot
- 50:46of retailers. Yeah.
- 50:48But you know, and unlike say we said the stock market to take
- 50:51for an example of something that's like more of a perfect
- 50:54market because the information is kind of more of a, you know,
- 50:58the people are trading on the stock market.
- 51:00They have all the information, or at least they should do
- 51:02because that's their professionals about it.
- 51:05This is people. Some people have way more
- 51:08information about the figures and the line and what the price
- 51:11is than others. So this is where you get some
- 51:14wonky stuff in the data because, well, you have people.
- 51:18And I'm hoping that that's my niche as far as my channel.
- 51:22And, and that's sort of the analysis that I'm doing is to,
- 51:25to help people see more of that data to, to try to limit some of
- 51:29that asymmetry, as we would call it in, in the data between, you
- 51:32know, parties. I think the other thing that you
- 51:35have to, to look at too, is that there's people, you see it on
- 51:37the cabal all the time, right? People get into a financial
- 51:41difficulty for whatever reason in their regular life and they
- 51:44have to sell their figures, right?
- 51:45And the same thing happens on eBay too.
- 51:47So there's, there's that issue too.
- 51:49That is almost impossible to predict other than like general
- 51:52trends of the economy doing well or not doing well.
- 51:56Totally. And when there's when there's
- 51:58more and more competition out there, do you want to be the guy
- 52:00that you know, hangs out for the best price or do you want to be
- 52:03the guy that's undercutting it and just guaranteeing yourself a
- 52:06sale? So there's lots of different
- 52:09types of sellers, I guess. And right here's an interesting
- 52:12one. Yeah.
- 52:13So John, you asked, you know, are there figures that are
- 52:17selling for less than retail? And this is basically that list.
- 52:24Now of course, some of these are above retail, right?
- 52:26So retail is $50. All these are standard figures.
- 52:29So retail is $50. I took everything else out and
- 52:33you can see that there's a a lot of figures here on the secretary
- 52:35market that are selling for definitely less than 50 in that
- 52:39$40 range. Some of them even average less
- 52:41than $50 like Okie Dos and Azar and Bryophytis.
- 52:45Again, probably not surprising to people who spend a lot of
- 52:49time in in the legions realm, so to speak, in mythos, right?
- 52:55But there are still a lot that are available at, you know,
- 53:01something that's less than retail.
- 53:04So I think it's a. Surprising one on there.
- 53:06The two let's say would be Zylonian Guard and Gorgo.
- 53:12Maybe Japan as well. I'd have expected them to still
- 53:15be getting them rated at least. I think those are the ones in a
- 53:21year or two that you will see will no longer be near this
- 53:25list, whereas some of these others might still be be
- 53:28somewhere on this chart. I, I always, I wonder with the
- 53:32more recent, should we say power con motu slash figures like
- 53:37Xenothan bride fighters? And is it now the point where
- 53:42there's enough of them produced that the kind of people that
- 53:46come in from the motor angle have got them and are aware of
- 53:49them? And so you will never have
- 53:53another Uncan or Celtis or Adam on situation with these it looks
- 53:57like. I, I don't think that's the
- 53:59case. I don't think I, I mean, I agree
- 54:01with you. I don't think we'll ever see
- 54:03something like Celtis Adam on on can again.
- 54:07Even, I mean the data shows even even some of the ones like
- 54:11Cowaros or Melina that are you know, 90 to $100, we're not
- 54:16seeing that anymore either. No, and I think an interesting
- 54:21one on here for me is Bronze Dwarf.
- 54:24So OK, retail for the bronze Dwarf was Legion builder price.
- 54:28So I said 30 just just to be kind of what you get another con
- 54:31for, right. And it's OK it it's nearer to
- 54:3660, but it's still, for a figure that's probably much more harder
- 54:40to get now than it was a year ago, it's still not too bad.
- 54:45And. I wonder if some.
- 54:47I mean I know it's a different looking figure, but I wonder if
- 54:49the cavern dwarf has kind of stolen some of its Thunder.
- 54:51The Cavern. To.
- 54:52Becoming more available might have brought that down because I
- 54:56know it's different color and everything, but it's still.
- 54:58Yeah, but a lot of the dwarf sales are people looking to do a
- 55:02pop and swap or a custom. Oh, I, I wanted to mention what
- 55:06I put in the in the title here. I excluded Poxis because again,
- 55:10just released basically all of those are less than retail or at
- 55:13retail. On the secondary market?
- 55:15And the deluxe Legion builder, I I wanted to get those out of
- 55:18here too for this particular. Graph but.
- 55:21I I think going back to your point about this, I learning
- 55:24Garden Duban, I agree that I would, I would see maybe in a
- 55:28year those would be, you know, in the 60 plus range.
- 55:32But I I think and and again this is just me, but I get the
- 55:35feeling that that All Stars 5 plus wave was overproduced.
- 55:41Yeah. Or there was.
- 55:42Yeah. They got a lot of inventory from
- 55:44that. Or they, you know, whether it
- 55:46was overproduced or they got a lot of retailers that over
- 55:49ordered, that's still in stock in a lot of places.
- 55:53When you know, other waves that have come out, you know, some of
- 55:56the waves have come and gone, you know, like cosmic one is
- 56:00sold out a lot of places. The vow guitar book one sold out
- 56:03in a lot of places. But you can still find basically
- 56:06all of those All Stars 5 plus the, the, the even the new
- 56:09figures right that we're talking.
- 56:10About the new figures that was the wave that was produced very
- 56:13quickly as in because they slaughtered it in because there
- 56:16was a delay on cosmic. So I think it was six months
- 56:19from pre-order to production. So I do wonder if that has a
- 56:24factor in it. I don't know.
- 56:25Yeah, could be. But yeah, interesting to see,
- 56:29eh, because there's a lot of good figures in that wave.
- 56:32Yeah, and two of my favorites as we just mentioned.
- 56:38If you look at the top of the list, I think you're, you're
- 56:40kind of seeing the pattern that that we're expecting to see for
- 56:44these others with Sir Owain and Mallius, right, where those are
- 56:47older All Stars figures that are less available at retail
- 56:51anymore. So now the price is increasing
- 56:53and they're close to 60. That's kind of the the typical
- 56:56trajectory we would probably expect.
- 56:59He is. Even too, he's right around 50.
- 57:01He's kind of the next one in Scaphoid are the next ones to
- 57:04to. Try to Jonathan Hughes, one of
- 57:07our friend of our show as well his his best efforts on VITAS
- 57:12not not quite getting him up there.
- 57:14Probably good though because you know he can get more than right
- 57:19reinforcements. Too, Yeah, so I I brought this
- 57:22up just in comparison with the last chart right.
- 57:26So reinforcements too is was available a lot after, you know
- 57:31long time after some of these other waves that we showed on
- 57:34the previous chart. But look at these prices.
- 57:36Yeah, so. Like every one of these is of
- 57:39the standard figures is between 50 and $60.
- 57:42Yeah, and they were all. 26 individuals. 26, yeah, in, in
- 57:46the pre-order and then, you know, shipping, if you bought a
- 57:49lot of them, your shipping is going to maybe bring it up to 28
- 57:53a figure. If you're in the US, maybe
- 57:54closer to 3030 even. 30, yeah, even over here.
- 57:59I mean, I think I averaged it out.
- 58:01We've got a big order with a couple of people here and
- 58:04averaged it out as around 30 something a figure. 30 early 30s
- 58:08a figure. So what?
- 58:09What's the common denominator in the reinforcements?
- 58:13Two wave. The.
- 58:14Availability. Yeah, they're all not a You can.
- 58:16Only get them through the horsemen.
- 58:18Yeah. And then the next playground for
- 58:21them is eBay. Exactly right so in it this is
- 58:26how I've changed my purchasing right is that I still buy an all
- 58:30in generally because in Pennsylvania we get pretty good
- 58:33shipping and it's not too expensive, but I mean I can
- 58:35still pay 20 to $30.00 for an all in for shipping it's.
- 58:38Not super cheap, it's not crazy, but.
- 58:41It's way better than many other people in the US and elsewhere
- 58:45in the world, for sure. Right.
- 58:46So I do that because of the discount, but everything else I
- 58:49generally get on the secondary market if it's going or not
- 58:52secondary market, I should say from retailers if it's going to
- 58:57retail. And the ones I still buy from
- 59:00the Horsemen are the ones that are not going to retail things
- 59:04like these in the all In or not in the All in the in stock sale
- 59:08that they did recently. Yeah.
- 59:10And then of course the figuras and stuff that they sell direct
- 59:15as well, you know, obviously. OK, so that's that.
- 59:20That was very interesting one mysteries of Mithos market
- 59:24mayhem. I love that headache.
- 59:29So these are the 14 figures just in alphabetical order that were
- 59:35reproduced. Yeah, according to the Instagram
- 59:38post from the Horseman, Right. And I checked the sales and
- 59:42basically they were at their new prices around April 25th.
- 59:49So my cut off is April 25th, 2024.
- 59:52If it's sold before that, it goes into the before bucket.
- 59:55If it's sold April 25th or after, it's in the after bucket.
- 59:59Gotcha. And here are the changes in
- 1:00:01price. They're all decreases in
- 1:00:04averages and you can see some decreased more than others.
- 1:00:08So if you look at Kador for instance, he was 16640
- 1:00:13beforehand. And one O 957 after.
- 1:00:18Yeah. So that's.
- 1:00:20One 5%. Of the that's the one I would
- 1:00:22have guessed had the biggest decrease because he was
- 1:00:25definitely the most rare of those RE issues for me I think.
- 1:00:31And what's kind of funny, if you just look at the stats, he that
- 1:00:35difference is only significant at the 10% significance level
- 1:00:39compared with 1% for most of the others, even though it's the
- 1:00:42highest decrease because the variability of the before prices
- 1:00:47for Kador was astronomical and some were selling for 300 and
- 1:00:51some were selling for 100. Huge variability beforehand and
- 1:00:56only a few data points. So you, you don't get a lot of
- 1:01:01statistical significance there when there's only a few data
- 1:01:04points, right? But everything else for the most
- 1:01:07part is significant at that 1% level except a few of the
- 1:01:12smaller decreases. So but some some of the other
- 1:01:15major decreases are Shadow Elve Ranger and Sir Godfrey both over
- 1:01:1927% decrease and Hagnon 26% decrease.
- 1:01:26Proper order. And snag 26% decrease and sorry
- 1:01:33and brother Mandibulus and Faunus around a 20% decrease.
- 1:01:37Great figures and Conks is an interesting one.
- 1:01:40He's pretty much held steady. Yep, Conks is has has held
- 1:01:44steady. So he's around the 100 to now
- 1:01:4792, so Yep. And.
- 1:01:49The Fury clan org as well. Oh yeah, just above. 78 to 73.
- 1:01:55There you go. So there's a very interesting
- 1:01:58table for all of you, ones that participated in the Mysteries of
- 1:02:02Mythos, and if you're looking to snag 1 now, no pun intended.
- 1:02:07The snag? A snag?
- 1:02:09You can see what's your best options are there and and I
- 1:02:14think, I think it's clear to me that hang on the lowest price of
- 1:02:19these available still on secondary market 57.
- 1:02:23I think that makes sense because of the hang on the blue one,
- 1:02:26right? The blue, it's kind of a double
- 1:02:28yeah effect. Yeah, I think there's a bit of
- 1:02:30hag non fatigue now. And I know that, you know, some,
- 1:02:34some people had valid concerns about the whole process of a
- 1:02:38mystery box and, and all that. And that's definitely
- 1:02:42understandable. And, you know, definitely valid
- 1:02:46concern and not liking that sort of, you know, gambling aspect
- 1:02:49and, and that. But I think if you look at these
- 1:02:52sorts of prices, it's really hard to argue that it was a bad
- 1:02:56thing overall for the market because there's so many more
- 1:02:59figures that were available at a more reasonable price.
- 1:03:04Yeah. And this is we were.
- 1:03:05Able to pay before. This is definitely a table you
- 1:03:07should do again in end of September and you'll you'll get
- 1:03:11A and if it it might stay the same or similar or it might even
- 1:03:16go down further would be my guess.
- 1:03:17Right, so I did a version 2 effect.
- 1:03:21Yeah. So this this is definitely
- 1:03:23preliminary because we don't have a lot of version twos that
- 1:03:26are actually out there right now.
- 1:03:29But this is how the version twos have changed compared, you know,
- 1:03:34the prices of the version twos are versus the prices for the
- 1:03:37original figures there. And we're, and obviously this is
- 1:03:42going to be more relevant moving forward because we're going to
- 1:03:44see more and more of these in the future.
- 1:03:47Yeah. So what's the biggest one here?
- 1:03:53The biggest one, the biggest change I think is I mean it's
- 1:04:01it's certainly Gorgo, you know, in in quarter two, you know,
- 1:04:04because he dropped so much, right, the original Gorgo, but
- 1:04:07if you look at quarter one, right, he was, you know, 14239.
- 1:04:11So again, just not a lot of sales for him.
- 1:04:15What's what's a little more interesting to me is looking at
- 1:04:17like Baron Volgar, right? Because you know, we had that
- 1:04:20original figure, All Stars three and then we had the Baron Volgar
- 1:04:232 that came out of the Lithia wave and both of them now are
- 1:04:28well above retail price. Because they're not really
- 1:04:31available. Anywhere else and the Baron
- 1:04:34Volgar one has a higher price than the Baron Volgar 2.
- 1:04:38I wonder if that comes down to it's it's a good one to be used
- 1:04:42as a legion builder. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:45Now if you get your Baron Bollegard 2, you can have two
- 1:04:48helmets of the original bee either side of him.
- 1:04:51As gods may have done this, Ma'am may have done this.
- 1:04:58It's also possible that, and again, I don't know, I don't
- 1:05:02know this for sure, but even if you count the original Baron
- 1:05:05Bollegard figure, whatever wave he was released in, Covenant of
- 1:05:08Shadows I think, and then All Stars 3 if you add both of those
- 1:05:12together and how many were produced, it's possible there
- 1:05:16are more Baron Volgaard twos out there just because the Lion got
- 1:05:20so much bigger in the time when a Lithia came out.
- 1:05:23I'm not sure you know, that's total speculation of.
- 1:05:26Course yeah and interesting to see so Vargas Familias the
- 1:05:30original has got a re release in All Stars too, and also we've
- 1:05:34had the version two now with the legions con and non legions
- 1:05:38conversion and his price is still steady at 100 and 30.
- 1:05:43Yeah, right around 130. It's, it's been pretty stable
- 1:05:45every quarter. I mean, quarter one dipped a
- 1:05:47little bit, but quarter Two's back up to 130.
- 1:05:50So he's a popular figure. Artemis is is kind of hard too
- 1:05:55because the that original figure was a deluxe so it's it's hard
- 1:05:58to compare. That's true, yeah.
- 1:06:01But as you can see, the both figures are very popular.
- 1:06:05True, and that Artemis original comes with fairly unique wings
- 1:06:09so I think people are are probably interested in those as
- 1:06:13it is forge founder effect so and.
- 1:06:16Then we have the forge. Founder Effect.
- 1:06:18The Tactics. Yes.
- 1:06:21So this is basically how much is somebody willing to pay for a
- 1:06:25little head. That's what this that was.
- 1:06:31Yeah, I, I rehearsed that one right.
- 1:06:34And I would be proud. That's what I I don't want to
- 1:06:37call it out, but yeah, I figured as much.
- 1:06:40So again, the top line here is the average price, the bottom
- 1:06:44line is the number of sales. So not a lot of sales.
- 1:06:46These have become kind of forgotten I think a little bit
- 1:06:49don't hear a lot about them anymore.
- 1:06:52In quarter two, we had the lowest sales possible, like I
- 1:06:55mean 1/3 of what was sold in quarter four of last year just
- 1:06:58as an example. But looking at them you can see
- 1:07:01that if you just go from top to bottom, the female elf builder
- 1:07:05more recently that additional head is selling for like $27.00
- 1:07:11more. Wow.
- 1:07:13Because that's the only difference between those.
- 1:07:14Figures now. Historically, it's only about $8
- 1:07:16different. Yeah, and it's it's obviously
- 1:07:20you get the the package as well. There is a little packaging
- 1:07:22difference if. People a little bit, yeah, but.
- 1:07:24It's not worth. Not like a legions con type
- 1:07:27package though, it just adds a little.
- 1:07:28No, it's just a little logo. Yeah, right.
- 1:07:32The female orc builder, again similar sort of difference here
- 1:07:35we have about $28.00 difference and historically that's about 12
- 1:07:40or so of a of a higher price. The male elf builder not as
- 1:07:44high, right, It's only about a $5 difference, but historic
- 1:07:47recently, but historically more so like a $19.00 difference, not
- 1:07:53really $21.20, one dollar difference.
- 1:07:57And then the male work builder recently we had what's that
- 1:08:02about about $19.00 or so. And then historically it's only
- 1:08:07been about 5. Wow.
- 1:08:09So. This this is a.
- 1:08:12Different thing willing to pay. Yeah, for sure.
- 1:08:15So the combination of the head and the packaging, but I think
- 1:08:19if you're buying these, you're probably opening them.
- 1:08:21So just ahead. If you look at the at the first
- 1:08:25like the upper left hand corner though the female elf builder
- 1:08:28for instance, right quarter three 2023 when they were
- 1:08:31released the one without the extra head went for more.
- 1:08:36That's just which anomaly there's.
- 1:08:38Again, it's just like the and the same thing with the female
- 1:08:41orc builder in quarter one, right.
- 1:08:43So again, when you get down to a few sales, people don't know
- 1:08:47that's that. Information which you were
- 1:08:48talking about. Earlier, you're always going to
- 1:08:50have that right. If you see more and more sales,
- 1:08:52though, you're going to get to show that that extra head is
- 1:08:55worth a little bit just. Cosmic legions.
- 1:09:00So yeah. So this is this is everything.
- 1:09:03Before, yeah. And basically again, this is
- 1:09:08this is largely before the sale happened.
- 1:09:12Yeah. Because this this stops in June
- 1:09:1430th, basically everything is below retail price.
- 1:09:21Wow on eBay, Yeah, yeah, and the.
- 1:09:25Only thing that is not a below retail price is what we what I
- 1:09:30said earlier. Walter the mad cosmic
- 1:09:33individual. Walter selling for about $60.
- 1:09:37Oh yeah, because you could get, you could only get him direct.
- 1:09:39From this the direct sale or at the shows?
- 1:09:44And then? Everything else is less.
- 1:09:46We can see this the odd high seller for almost every figure,
- 1:09:51but if you particular someone bought an operative 83 for quite
- 1:09:56high, but that's probably in the period where it was the power
- 1:09:58con one. Well, this is just quarter two,
- 1:10:01so this is. This.
- 1:10:03I mean, it might have been just before, yeah.
- 1:10:06Just before it was released, yeah.
- 1:10:09Right, so now is the time to you've you've heard it here now
- 1:10:12between the sale that's going on between what Matt has shown you
- 1:10:15is going on in eBay here. If you're thinking about cosmic,
- 1:10:20you're not going to get a lower prices for this in the early
- 1:10:24waves. And if in four years time these
- 1:10:28are going for a wave 1 mythic prices.
- 1:10:31Looking at this video, when I told you so told you so that and
- 1:10:36so you're Obscura. This is this is one that
- 1:10:40definitely is going to have some variation.
- 1:10:45Yes and no, right. So you know for the Headless
- 1:10:47Horseman, for example, we, you know, we have both releases have
- 1:10:50both been out for a while and the price is basically about the
- 1:10:53same between the original release and the Spectral green
- 1:10:58release. For the other ones where we have
- 1:11:01releases like Father Christmas and Krampus, the original still
- 1:11:05commands some sort of premium because I think of the it's a
- 1:11:10preferred version for a. Lot of that original Krampus is
- 1:11:13nearly 100 on average. Wow.
- 1:11:15Yeah, yeah, that original Krampus is getting hard to find.
- 1:11:19It's the price is increasing pretty significantly.
- 1:11:24But the other, the other thing that I think stands out here is
- 1:11:27and, and I have some individual sales to kind of make this point
- 1:11:30as well. But once the figure originally
- 1:11:33sells, if you don't get it in the original sale from the
- 1:11:36Horseman, my, my recommendation is just wait.
- 1:11:40Because especially with figure Obscura, we know that for the
- 1:11:44most part, at least if, if the future continues the way that
- 1:11:47the the past has that they're going to release the retail
- 1:11:51version, right. They're a year or so later and
- 1:11:54that's going to kind of temper the value of the original two,
- 1:11:57maybe not exactly the same, but for a while it'll settle around
- 1:12:02that kind of 75 to $90.00 range, which is not the 120 that these
- 1:12:09are going for on eBay right when when they're sold out from the
- 1:12:12Horseman. Yeah, that's much closer to what
- 1:12:15you get them for because you you still have to factor in shipping
- 1:12:18and even in the USA it's probably 15 to 20 no matter
- 1:12:23where you live for just a figure.
- 1:12:26Yeah, maybe if you get 2, you could probably get the same
- 1:12:29shipping. But you know, everyone is
- 1:12:31probably scrambling together and all in or one at the start and
- 1:12:35then they go back and see what they bought.
- 1:12:39Even I think it's pretty well established that the Monkey King
- 1:12:44is, you know, probably one of them, the most well regarded of
- 1:12:48these figures, right? And even he's just above $80.00
- 1:12:50right now. Yeah, he's, he's actually lower
- 1:12:52on average than Krampus, the original, which, OK, when you
- 1:12:56take it that Krampus is a little bit older, but I would have
- 1:13:00thought Monkey King is more popular and then maybe he's
- 1:13:02gonna retail. Yeah, maybe the retail version
- 1:13:06has settled that down because it's not hugely different and.
- 1:13:09And this is just my viewpoint here, but I think the other
- 1:13:12thing that we have to remember too is that a lot of people will
- 1:13:15tend to forget looking at the new things that are out, whether
- 1:13:20it be in legions lines or other lines as well.
- 1:13:23And they're always looking at what's coming next after the
- 1:13:27hype dies down for maybe three months to six months.
- 1:13:30You can generally, you know, you may not be able to pay the
- 1:13:33direct prices anymore, but you're not going to pay double
- 1:13:36if you just wait a little bit. And that's my biggest suggestion
- 1:13:40to everybody out there is, you know, I, I have it on the last
- 1:13:44slide where I talk about suggestions, patience, right?
- 1:13:47I mean, we, none of us have a lot of patience where we want
- 1:13:50it, when we want it, right? It's understandable.
- 1:13:53But if you, if you can have that patience, you can, you know, at
- 1:13:57least try to save yourself some money.
- 1:14:00So John, you asked about like when do a lot of sales happen?
- 1:14:04I, this graph really stood out to me.
- 1:14:06This is the Volqatar book one cosmic legions, right?
- 1:14:09So I was looking at this when I made my my video for for this
- 1:14:13look at these peaks. So we had these are just the
- 1:14:15number of of units. So each color is a different
- 1:14:18character. OK.
- 1:14:20So we had a lot of sales when it first came out in July and
- 1:14:23August of last year. We had a lot of sales in
- 1:14:26November and December when Vulgatar book two came out, and
- 1:14:30we had a lot of sales in May of this year when Outpost Axios
- 1:14:33came out. So it's always around the time
- 1:14:36of the drop. Always when the drop happens,
- 1:14:38people remember this line exists and then they start trying to by
- 1:14:42the figures. Right.
- 1:14:43And it well and also is that an indicator of new, not all of it
- 1:14:46obviously, but some of it is new people who weren't weren't in
- 1:14:52thought, well, I'll try these. Some of these look cool.
- 1:14:54I'll get one or two of these and then they're like, now I need to
- 1:14:57go back and get the ones I didn't have.
- 1:15:01Good point. Now I I think that's definitely
- 1:15:03part some of it as well. Absolutely.
- 1:15:07But you see that lull sort of in the middle and, and maybe that's
- 1:15:10because, you know, I haven't. The things against mythics.
- 1:15:13Too, but maybe the mythics? Yeah, there's the law, there's
- 1:15:18an idea, yeah. And of course there's always
- 1:15:22people that buy extras when they pre-order and when they, you
- 1:15:28know, when the wave drops, then they're selling them so.
- 1:15:31Yeah, they they either had some ideas or decided, Oh my gosh, I
- 1:15:35spent too much or whatever, and then they sell.
- 1:15:37Yeah, absolutely. So just as an example of the
- 1:15:42prices, the beginning versus versus a little bit later on
- 1:15:45this, these are all three tusks together.
- 1:15:47You can see the different colors there.
- 1:15:49Look at what they were going for in July and August of last year.
- 1:15:53They're going for 50 to $70.00 consistently and we know that
- 1:15:58the retail price of these is 45 and right now you can get them
- 1:16:00all for 36, right? And generally that's what
- 1:16:05happened. I, I mentioned this, if you
- 1:16:07watched my videos on the Cosmic, I, I made a mistake.
- 1:16:11I actually have a gap of shame here.
- 1:16:14I didn't, I thought I collected the data in like March and April
- 1:16:19or something like that. February and March I I have a
- 1:16:22gap. But regardless, you know I
- 1:16:24picked it back up. I think it it looks like it
- 1:16:26would be consistent, yeah. Yeah, I, I, I can't imagine it'd
- 1:16:29be much different there. Right.
- 1:16:31Cool. So and then Monkey King.
- 1:16:33Yeah. So just to show kind of what
- 1:16:35happened with. It's a different king.
- 1:16:38After he was released, he was selling again consistently for
- 1:16:41100 + 100 to 130. You can see a lot of sales
- 1:16:45there, but more recently he's been selling for, as we saw on
- 1:16:48average about 80. But you know, generally I would
- 1:16:50say between about 70 and $90.00, yeah.
- 1:16:53So as we say, wait a little bit if you so.
- 1:16:57These are all the the graphs for the ones that were released in
- 1:16:5923, right? So the Mask of the Red Death,
- 1:17:01same sort of thing. At the beginning in October, he
- 1:17:04was selling for again 100 to 130.
- 1:17:07Again, there were some sales that were consistently 90 to 120
- 1:17:12or so. But now again, where's he
- 1:17:14selling 60 to 90? Yeah, dropping down below Jacob
- 1:17:19Marley, little bit steadier drop, but yeah, similar.
- 1:17:23I think anything that has the any sort of that, that holiday
- 1:17:29connection when it's not holiday season like the Father
- 1:17:32Christmas, you know, you're, you're probably going to see a
- 1:17:34little bit less. It's a good point, actually.
- 1:17:36Good point. So buy in the offseason, buy,
- 1:17:40buy your Father Christmas now or Christmas in July, right?
- 1:17:43The prices are probably low. Totally, Yeah.
- 1:17:46So these are my main takeaways overall in my suggestions for
- 1:17:50everyone out there to try to maximize what you can get out of
- 1:17:52the money that we all have, which is all limited.
- 1:17:55That is patience, patience, patience, right?
- 1:17:58Recent waves are available, still available at below retail
- 1:18:02price on the secondary market. And we've seen retailers have
- 1:18:06pretty consistent sales. You can still get them for 40 to
- 1:18:09$50 pretty consistently exclusives from the horseman
- 1:18:15order those directly if you want them because those tend to go up
- 1:18:19faster than anything else does due to the availability.
- 1:18:22The figure obscure prices tend to normalize three to six months
- 1:18:25after release. And you know in general it seems
- 1:18:29like re releases are good for everyone except the sellers,
- 1:18:32right, because more of these are available.
- 1:18:34If you do want that figure at a lower, you know you're able to
- 1:18:37pay a lower price to get them once it's re released.
- 1:18:41But we don't really have enough to say right now about the
- 1:18:44version tubes, right? And the last thing I want to
- 1:18:47mention too is just a caution is that we don't know how the
- 1:18:50horsemen are going to deal with this overstock or potential
- 1:18:54overstock situation and if they correct production moving
- 1:18:58forward. Yeah.
- 1:18:59So for instance, you know the neck anonymous wave that was
- 1:19:02ordered a long time ago, but for example, the the ashes of AG
- 1:19:06Bendor, right? Are we going to be in a a Super
- 1:19:097 type situation where a lot of the retailers aren't ordering
- 1:19:13extra copies anymore so they might sell out a lot faster?
- 1:19:18I don't know, right? I mean, always, I would say if
- 1:19:22anybody really likes a figure and you need it for your
- 1:19:24collection, buy it. If you have the money, buy it
- 1:19:29when it's available. You don't know what'll happen.
- 1:19:31But if there's figures that you're a little more lukewarm
- 1:19:33on, if you want to see them in hand and see some reviews, it
- 1:19:37probably is going to make sense to to wait a little bit and take
- 1:19:41a chance of finding them later. Totally.
- 1:19:43And of course it's always worth saying that you know, the longer
- 1:19:47you're in the line, join the various groups, try and make
- 1:19:50friends, go to the con if you can nearby, whether it's a, you
- 1:19:54know, one where it's got a street team or whatever.
- 1:19:57There's loads of nice people and you'll eventually make some
- 1:20:00connections that will of course help you and you get stuff for.
- 1:20:04You know, maybe you won't get the the stuff that's under
- 1:20:07retail at eBay, It's probably still, you know, your best bet
- 1:20:11is to get it off a retailer or eBay at that point.
- 1:20:13But stuff that's maybe a little bit older, you could get some
- 1:20:17good deals in the groups and making connections, right.
- 1:20:22So Rich did have a question to you about what's your favorite
- 1:20:26chart? So this.
- 1:20:28Last night Why donut charts are the best Yeah, and that's why I
- 1:20:32say here don't discount pie charts, right, because pie
- 1:20:34charts are. These are some of my favorite
- 1:20:37terrible pie charts, but I thought the one on the left was
- 1:20:40really an American chart, right? Because this is a pie inside a
- 1:20:44doughnut. And it seems like something we
- 1:20:46would have here in the US, right, where we have doughnuts
- 1:20:49replacing bread on sandwiches. Seems like you know it.
- 1:20:53And that's an idea that whose time has come to have a pie
- 1:20:56inside the doughnut. And then if you bring it to
- 1:20:58Scotland, you can deep fry it, throw Mars Berry in there as
- 1:21:03well. Very good.
- 1:21:07Well, that was awesome, Matt, thank you for your analysis.
- 1:21:11And I think we're I'm definitely and I've watched a lot of your
- 1:21:16videos, but I'm still more intelligent because I'm actually
- 1:21:19engaged in talking to you about the stuff and having to, you
- 1:21:23know, kind of make sure that I'm understanding what you're
- 1:21:26telling me as you're telling me instead of just staring at a
- 1:21:29YouTube screen. And, you know, my kids come and
- 1:21:31distract me and I'm like, and then I.
- 1:21:34Have to go back. Easiest way to absorb?
- 1:21:36Charts sometimes can be, can be, but definitely very interesting.
- 1:21:42I hope Rich enjoys it because he's very sad that he couldn't
- 1:21:45make it here. But you will find out in a
- 1:21:47couple of weeks what happened to Rich.
- 1:21:49And the story is good, but not good for Rich.
- 1:21:53But it's, it's, it's a good story.
- 1:21:54It'll be a good story by then because he'll have pretty much
- 1:21:57recovered. So I am not going to do it a
- 1:22:00disservice by telling it. I would rather he would tell it.
- 1:22:04So I think that's it. I just.
- 1:22:06Wanted to thank you guys so much for having me.
- 1:22:08I really enjoyed being. Absolutely.
- 1:22:10I thank you for acting. On Discord and everything as
- 1:22:13well. It's really enjoyed being part
- 1:22:15of the Your Allegiance community in particular.
- 1:22:16Absolutely. We're so happy to have you.
- 1:22:20It was whenever it wasn't long after you and I think it was
- 1:22:24when you started to promote your channel in the cabal, the rich
- 1:22:28actually sent a message to our chat, you know, our podcast
- 1:22:31chat, three of us. And he was like, you know, you
- 1:22:34know, the way I like my spreadsheets.
- 1:22:35I love this guy. You know, he said, I'm sure
- 1:22:40there's people. It's not probably for everyone,
- 1:22:41which of course, you know, nothing is for everyone.
- 1:22:45But if you're into it, you're into it.
- 1:22:46And that's the best thing. That's the best side of the
- 1:22:49Internet is, is that there's there's cool things, nerdy
- 1:22:53things for everybody that you have an interest in.
- 1:22:55And this is. One of those as I've told other
- 1:22:57people too, like and I told you when we when we had the the
- 1:23:01first chat about the the recent reveal, you know, I'm not a
- 1:23:05painter, I'm not a big customizer.
- 1:23:08You know, I'm not going to have a lot of lot to to contribute to
- 1:23:11the community that way. This is the sort of thing I can
- 1:23:13contribute. Again, it's probably not
- 1:23:15everybody's cup of tea, but but it's at least interesting for.
- 1:23:20You've got a podcast across the pond that's interested in it, so
- 1:23:23you know you're not into that. I think I'm also I've I've
- 1:23:26planned since I have 10,000 data points, I'm going to give this
- 1:23:29data to my students. This up here and all the data
- 1:23:34manipulation and things we do are going to be based off of
- 1:23:36this data because you don't normally get data sets with
- 1:23:3810,000 observations at a. Absolutely.
- 1:23:40Student level. So no, I mean, I did like I'd be
- 1:23:43digging into. Legions all fall, whether they
- 1:23:46like it or not. I did an economics degree and I
- 1:23:49can tell you if one of my professors came with a lecture
- 1:23:52about this type of stuff, I'd have been much more interested
- 1:23:54in it than some of the other stuff that they were talking
- 1:23:57about. So yeah, it's a captive
- 1:24:00audience. So tell us, tell us, where can
- 1:24:05people find you? You have a YouTube channel.
- 1:24:08What is that you? Can find me Toiletics on
- 1:24:10YouTube. If you have any suggestions for
- 1:24:13for analysis you would like to see or questions you have that I
- 1:24:17haven't addressed on a video or like in today's presentation,
- 1:24:21just send me an e-mail toiletics@gmail.com.
- 1:24:23Or you can find me Matt Drake on the Cabal on Facebook as well.
- 1:24:29Cool. And don't forget to comment on
- 1:24:31the toilet lyrics videos as well.
- 1:24:32Absolutely. Yeah.
- 1:24:34And and especially if it's like, oh, you missed some data there,
- 1:24:37Matt, you know, really. Really.
- 1:24:39You can see, yeah. It's going to cause him some
- 1:24:43pain, you know he's going to be. It's like, it's like me when I'm
- 1:24:47listening back when I'm editing the podcast sometimes when I'm
- 1:24:50like, oh, I told said something wrong there and I said it right
- 1:24:53in the middle of a load of other stuff.
- 1:24:54So I can't really cut it out because it will just be too
- 1:24:57obvious too. Abrupt of a change.
- 1:25:01Exactly. Yeah, so.
- 1:25:03But when the other guys do, I just laugh and leave it in, you
- 1:25:05know? That's the advantage of being
- 1:25:09the editor, right? Yeah, no, I don't.
- 1:25:11I won't do you, don't worry. But this one has been pretty
- 1:25:15good. I don't think I have much work
- 1:25:16to do apart from, of course put it together.
- 1:25:18So I'm very happy with that. Thanks again, Matt.
- 1:25:21We will. Are you going to Legions Con?
- 1:25:23Remind me? That's the plan.
- 1:25:25Awesome. Yes, you can drive there, can't
- 1:25:27you? I have my tickets, I'm ready to
- 1:25:28go. Well, can't wait to meet you in
- 1:25:31person. And, and then obviously, I, I
- 1:25:33think you're going to be on the list for another episode next
- 1:25:36year because we have to revisit this with even more data and
- 1:25:39with, with Rich the next time for sure.
- 1:25:42And also that we can compare some maybe interesting things
- 1:25:46that have changed since the last time because that's always the
- 1:25:49fun thing about this kind of stuff.
- 1:25:51Yep, cheers. Absolutely.
- 1:25:53Well, there we go. Another week of your allegiance.
- 1:25:57Catch you again next week. Only wave coming soon.
- 1:26:01Stay. Safe out there, even more so by
- 1:26:04a pool. Take care on those water slides.
