Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: Approache production. All right, here we are episode one of
- 0:23Speaker 1: the Shed. So this is like our trial where it's
- 0:26Speaker 1: just we're going.
- 0:26Speaker 2: To feel is that the energy you're bringing. It feels
- 0:30Speaker 2: like a shed because.
- 0:32Speaker 3: We got holes in the room, the spots, and there's
- 0:36Speaker 3: random ship laying around like this is a ship.
- 0:38Speaker 2: This is a shed. Yeah.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I noticed they've given us the most uncomfortable chair.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Is that we know about?
- 0:45Speaker 1: They should be short episodes? Is that the plan?
- 0:47Speaker 4: That's a different podcast anyway.
- 0:49Speaker 5: But I think there was council collection in our local area.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Yeah, when what you've been doing with all your spare
- 0:57Speaker 3: time lately, Yet there's a lot of money in garbage
- 1:01Speaker 3: at the end of the day.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Yeah there is.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Yeah, so there's more trials on trial start. I would
- 1:07Speaker 1: know that they continue this weekend, so we'll get into that. Yeah,
- 1:10Speaker 1: we talk because there's Broncos have gone from No one's
- 1:14Speaker 1: been talking about them for months and now all of
- 1:17Speaker 1: a sudden, Broncos wherever it's a pain hess gone. There's
- 1:20Speaker 1: maybe a chance that they're throwing a lifeline out there
- 1:22Speaker 1: trying to do everything gone gone.
- 1:25Speaker 4: You say, gone gone.
- 1:27Speaker 2: We should get those cards gone so.
- 1:30Speaker 1: That you think, is there any type of deal that
- 1:35Speaker 1: the Broncos can offer pain that's going to make him
- 1:37Speaker 1: stay well.
- 1:38Speaker 5: It is funny you say there was no one talking
- 1:40Speaker 5: about the Broncos for this whole process, and it was
- 1:43Speaker 5: kind of a bit weird and strange because last year
- 1:46Speaker 5: from we had headlines in January not for the best
- 1:50Speaker 5: of reasons the previous year. I think actually you were
- 1:53Speaker 5: maybe involved in some of the headlines from the previous year.
- 1:56Speaker 2: You were there that night wrestling.
- 1:59Speaker 4: I was in the middle of actually beat you and
- 2:02Speaker 4: the wrestle that night.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Is that right? You got me and him? We would
- 2:06Speaker 2: have teamed up. We were together friends.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Yeah, so who we can't stare with your tag team?
- 2:13Speaker 2: Paddy, just Paddy, end of that blog on your eyes.
- 2:18Speaker 5: It's pretty long strong, but you are the carry over
- 2:21Speaker 5: champ when it comes to Gwenna.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Pauls.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Let's not go there's a long time ago.
- 2:27Speaker 6: Mate.
- 2:27Speaker 2: We're not going to show people. I've got a belt.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Now we need two belts. Doesn't work with one.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Mine's pretty big.
- 2:36Speaker 3: You can either get two belts or two towels. Time together,
- 2:40Speaker 3: and then you sit both face and face straight. Arms
- 2:43Speaker 3: got to be straight. You can't be better than that stuff.
- 2:45Speaker 3: And bulldog head up, tails around your head and then
- 2:49Speaker 3: you it's so you're pulling against it and you've got
- 2:52Speaker 3: to keep your head up and you lose by your
- 2:54Speaker 3: head dropping or you go their hands going over the line.
- 2:58Speaker 1: And you're and you're.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Straight arm though like straight legged, no legs either. She's
- 3:04Speaker 2: just she just shoulder and big Gassy he was he
- 3:08Speaker 2: he was a world champion, ran and world champion.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Really you call yourself big gas just for people who don't.
- 3:13Speaker 4: Calls himself big gas.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Well, actually money name changed to Gary and I don't
- 3:18Speaker 3: think I heard my name my real name Corey for
- 3:20Speaker 3: like nine years, to be honest, it.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Was weird Gary or funk with.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Was way.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Ball and the other big news for Bronx is Adam Reynolds.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Adam Reynolds y this is last year.
- 3:39Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, so this is yeah, some big, big headlines paying.
- 3:42Speaker 5: Huss has agreed to a deal with the Bunnies. Yeah,
- 3:49Speaker 5: Wayne's there. The Bronx have a return Sirve, but is
- 3:52Speaker 5: a big one as well.
- 3:53Speaker 1: How much of a lure is Wayne you reckon in
- 3:55Speaker 1: that in that deal?
- 3:58Speaker 5: I think that's that's one of the contributing factors. Money
- 4:03Speaker 5: is another one. I think there might have been a
- 4:05Speaker 5: better off of that was given to him. And again
- 4:08Speaker 5: like we're only just learning things ourselves at the moment.
- 4:11Speaker 2: It's been dripped fed to us.
- 4:13Speaker 5: But also got a good friend down there as well,
- 4:15Speaker 5: and Dave for feeda it has recently moved down there
- 4:18Speaker 5: as well, so you know, maybe those things all pulled
- 4:22Speaker 5: in together have helped him out. I think there's a
- 4:24Speaker 5: fourth too, a fourth their squad that's eye catching.
- 4:29Speaker 1: You think the Bunny are going to go.
- 4:30Speaker 2: I just think, you know, if.
- 4:32Speaker 3: They keep buying well and that these young geniors start
- 4:35Speaker 3: keep coming through like they've got and sharing the talent
- 4:38Speaker 3: like you know, that that could be another massive reason
- 4:41Speaker 3: why Pain is probably thinking looking go close or win
- 4:45Speaker 3: again this year for the Bronx. I could go down
- 4:47Speaker 3: there and possibly win another premiership with a different team,
- 4:50Speaker 3: and I think that really puts him in a status
- 4:52Speaker 3: where how many people can go with how good he
- 4:56Speaker 3: already is. And yeah, so I think that's another one.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Their team is actually going to be pretty frightening when
- 5:03Speaker 3: they all come together.
- 5:04Speaker 1: So you say he's gone. Is there anything the Broncos
- 5:06Speaker 1: can offer him that'll make him change his mind?
- 5:08Speaker 5: I reckon if he hangs around to twenty thirty two.
- 5:11Speaker 5: Let him like the Cauldron at the Olympic, Katy Freedman
- 5:14Speaker 5: style him across the line, getting me across the line.
- 5:19Speaker 1: One of those Kathy Freeman suits, one of those.
- 5:21Speaker 2: You can play.
- 5:24Speaker 1: In the suit, just.
- 5:27Speaker 2: His beard, you reckon gone. I don't know. The Bronx
- 5:32Speaker 2: won't like, they won't go down without a fight at
- 5:34Speaker 2: the end.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Of the day unless he's already said, look, no, I'm sorry,
- 5:37Speaker 3: but that's it, And if anything, it's it's perfect time
- 5:42Speaker 3: for him.
- 5:42Speaker 5: They've gone off there. They're in the UK at the moment,
- 5:45Speaker 5: preparing for the World Club Challenge. Who knows, maybe a
- 5:48Speaker 5: bit of time over there with the team ten days.
- 5:51Speaker 5: I know they've got ten days. So it's been what
- 5:53Speaker 5: three that happened on the Sunday? They flew out on
- 5:56Speaker 5: the Monday.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Four days gone.
- 5:59Speaker 5: Yeah, so hey, who knows, we've got a few more
- 6:02Speaker 5: days left. Throw him the kits and sink the keys
- 6:05Speaker 5: of the city. I don't have much of a sink left,
- 6:07Speaker 5: to be fair. I think there's sinks all taken. Yeah,
- 6:14Speaker 5: part of it. But you know, like both you and
- 6:17Speaker 5: I probably have different thinking when it comes to this
- 6:19Speaker 5: as well. But you know, I knew that. I knew
- 6:23Speaker 5: that I wasn't going to get the biggest contracts in
- 6:25Speaker 5: the world at the Broncos, but I knew what the
- 6:26Speaker 5: benefits were afterwards being a one club player playing here
- 6:32Speaker 5: for a team like the Broncos, and the opportunities after
- 6:38Speaker 5: you finished playing here in Brisbane are going to be
- 6:40Speaker 5: so much more wide open than they are in.
- 6:43Speaker 4: That Sydney market.
- 6:44Speaker 5: You are here, you are you know, you're You're a
- 6:47Speaker 5: big fish in a small pond here. You go to
- 6:50Speaker 5: Sydney here, or a small fish in a huge, huge pond.
- 6:54Speaker 5: And you're down there competing against the Sydney Swans. You're
- 6:59Speaker 5: down there competing against the New South Wales Warratars, You're
- 7:02Speaker 5: down there competing against every other bloody.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Team that's down there. Eighteen and our old teams would
- 7:08Speaker 3: be six seven.
- 7:08Speaker 5: Eight al Yeah, yeah, Union is mostly got two great
- 7:13Speaker 5: soccer teams that those guys are all going to be
- 7:16Speaker 5: vying for these paid gigs when they finished playing.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:19Speaker 4: Yeah, it's the kool Aid's.
- 7:22Speaker 5: A lot more water down down, I believe, And you
- 7:26Speaker 5: know you go for the extra money, but cost you
- 7:29Speaker 5: twice as much to live in Sydney.
- 7:31Speaker 3: I got a quick one and I was exact same
- 7:33Speaker 3: because every contract I think the Bronx gave me, I
- 7:36Speaker 3: think I know got offered double from a Sydney club
- 7:38Speaker 3: every time.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Yeah, really yeah, and then obviously you.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Never never I never took one. And it was purely
- 7:44Speaker 3: because of that reason. My first one, my first every
- 7:47Speaker 3: contract I never forget, the mainly Seagles.
- 7:51Speaker 2: They offered a lot of money back then I was
- 7:55Speaker 2: old kid.
- 7:55Speaker 3: You might remember now for me, think three or four
- 7:58Speaker 3: years at five hundred.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Yeah, and that was a lot of money. That was
- 8:01Speaker 2: big money. And my old man said, they didn't even
- 8:03Speaker 2: know how annoying you were. My old man said, do
- 8:05Speaker 2: you think you're worth it?
- 8:06Speaker 5: Like?
- 8:07Speaker 3: Yeah, he said, have you approven that you can play
- 8:10Speaker 3: it back row for eighty minutes?
- 8:11Speaker 2: And I'm like that is the most brutal thing can.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Possibly say, but honestly was honestly, I'm like, yeah, actually,
- 8:17Speaker 3: you're right, like and I stayed for a lot less
- 8:20Speaker 3: and after that, I just stayed every year for a
- 8:22Speaker 3: lot less because I just loved the place and the fans.
- 8:25Speaker 3: And it was that reason, you know, semi, because all
- 8:29Speaker 3: the old players that that were one club players, all said,
- 8:33Speaker 3: you're you need to stay here for your whole career
- 8:36Speaker 3: because it'll be way more beneficial for you.
- 8:38Speaker 4: Well, if you look.
- 8:39Speaker 5: At where we train here in Brisbane, the facilities we have,
- 8:43Speaker 5: the opportunities that we have here in Brisbane, you know,
- 8:47Speaker 5: like you go and train and some of these other
- 8:49Speaker 5: facilities down in Sydney, like they don't have the standard
- 8:51Speaker 5: facilities that we have.
- 8:52Speaker 1: What's it like at the Bunnies, for example, pretty that
- 8:55Speaker 1: it is good? Now, okay, they have.
- 8:57Speaker 5: Got a brand new facility down there and it's and
- 8:59Speaker 5: it is mickey mouse, but you know, for many years
- 9:02Speaker 5: it wasn't. You know, the Westigers are slowly getting You
- 9:06Speaker 5: look at where you know, the Saint George of training
- 9:09Speaker 5: out a win Stadium and it's kind of like, you know,
- 9:12Speaker 5: it's not the greatest facilities come around. You're so looked
- 9:16Speaker 5: after here, and there's a lot of players that leave
- 9:18Speaker 5: our club here at the Broncos and then go play
- 9:21Speaker 5: for these Sydney clubs do.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Earn a lot more money.
- 9:23Speaker 5: But say, you know, the level of and the standards
- 9:29Speaker 5: of the facilities and the way you looked after it
- 9:32Speaker 5: is not the same thing to get here.
- 9:33Speaker 1: So let's say he's gone, then pass has gone. Now
- 9:37Speaker 1: all of a sudden, we've got a bit of a budget. Now,
- 9:39Speaker 1: all of a sudden, we've got money. So who do
- 9:41Speaker 1: we buy?
- 9:42Speaker 2: Well, it depends how much budget.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Like you've got to think every player, well, every player,
- 9:47Speaker 3: most players, when they sign a three four year deal,
- 9:51Speaker 3: it goes up.
- 9:52Speaker 2: It'll go up each year.
- 9:53Speaker 3: And you know they say it goes with the salary cap,
- 9:57Speaker 3: but it goes up more than the salary cap, I
- 10:00Speaker 3: always believe.
- 10:00Speaker 2: So who's to say we have much left?
- 10:03Speaker 3: Like we've got Jonah Peasant coming yea, yep, he's going
- 10:06Speaker 3: to come the following year. So that I feel like
- 10:10Speaker 3: was the renout safety net. I think they've done that
- 10:14Speaker 3: and I think that's what made maybe Reno not thinking
- 10:19Speaker 3: about it. I think he was always thinking about it, but
- 10:22Speaker 3: I think that's what made him probably push him to
- 10:24Speaker 3: the coming from Storm Peasant.
- 10:26Speaker 2: He was going to that power for us. I would
- 10:29Speaker 2: be filtered in between then, yeah.
- 10:33Speaker 5: Because they can make him good deals, can't they. Backs
- 10:38Speaker 5: He's learnt at Melbourne right, Yeah, You're going.
- 10:41Speaker 3: To a team who doubtedly probably has the top three,
- 10:45Speaker 3: one of the top three half backs in the game.
- 10:48Speaker 3: He could learn so much in twelve months, like the
- 10:51Speaker 3: Bronx have got one of the boys of I can't
- 10:53Speaker 3: remember the last five sixty seven years. I just if
- 10:56Speaker 3: he if that goes to what I think it could,
- 10:59Speaker 3: he could be one of the best buys they've they've
- 11:01Speaker 3: done for a long time. If he can come here
- 11:04Speaker 3: and for fear his trade, you know under Moses, Yeah,
- 11:08Speaker 3: and at that team like it's it's one of the
- 11:11Speaker 3: great the best situations they could.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Be in freeing up like.
- 11:17Speaker 5: A million dollars will again you talk about that, But
- 11:20Speaker 5: then if you want to secure the guys that we've
- 11:22Speaker 5: got here, and that's exactly it, we have to give
- 11:24Speaker 5: them a little bit of you know, a few extra
- 11:26Speaker 5: lollies in their.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Lollibagy and Brom's have always been known for that. When
- 11:31Speaker 3: they start producing, they start losing.
- 11:33Speaker 5: Yeah, And that's and that's where I get really disappointed.
- 11:35Speaker 5: From a game's point of view. Paint has been in
- 11:38Speaker 5: our system since he was what fifteen sixteen year old kid.
- 11:42Speaker 5: There's no benefit in growing and developing our young players
- 11:46Speaker 5: anymore at the end of the day, So you know,
- 11:48Speaker 5: he's been in our junior academies. We've put time and
- 11:51Speaker 5: effort and a lot of money into him. Has he
- 11:53Speaker 5: been a great player for a club? Hands down. He's
- 11:56Speaker 5: won six Paul Morgan Awards, Like it just shows that,
- 11:59Speaker 5: you know, he's been the most consistent player for a
- 12:01Speaker 5: long long time.
- 12:03Speaker 2: It's going to suck if he does leave.
- 12:05Speaker 5: I would like to see Broncos do everything they can
- 12:07Speaker 5: in their power to try and make him stay. But
- 12:08Speaker 5: if he doesn't want to, I'm not filthy at him,
- 12:12Speaker 5: and I can't be because.
- 12:16Speaker 4: I hope he doesn't, because that's one thing, please.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Do not because he's a guy that deserves.
- 12:21Speaker 5: All the cheer at the end of the day, like
- 12:25Speaker 5: he's probably he's probably shared this much of his story
- 12:29Speaker 5: with people.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Like his family stories.
- 12:31Speaker 5: Yeah, and for what he does at the end of
- 12:35Speaker 5: the day, he's the he's the sole caretaker of his
- 12:37Speaker 5: two younger brothers. You know, he's got a wife and
- 12:39Speaker 5: a couple of young kids himself. He's got to think
- 12:43Speaker 5: about his family and and that's that's the hardest thing
- 12:46Speaker 5: sometimes as a fan. And I become a fan now
- 12:49Speaker 5: because I'm not playing the game. I love the Broncos
- 12:51Speaker 5: and I want to see them be successful and win,
- 12:54Speaker 5: But I can't be greedy and keep these guys here
- 12:57Speaker 5: if they if they have yeah, yeah that's it.
- 13:02Speaker 2: If I'm honest, Yeah, I really am surprised that play.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Yeah, bloody earth the players we have and that you
- 13:08Speaker 3: look at the REP teams they're in, how good they are, Like,
- 13:11Speaker 3: we're lucky we still have the amount we have of
- 13:14Speaker 3: class of high class players.
- 13:15Speaker 2: But I'm moving on to Reno's retirement.
- 13:19Speaker 1: I feel like that's good timing, like getting it done
- 13:21Speaker 1: down and saying this is going to be my last year.
- 13:23Speaker 5: I wouldn't have been in all honestly, I wouldn't have
- 13:25Speaker 5: been surprised if he made the call in the off season, like, yeah,
- 13:28Speaker 5: there's no way. I'm sitting after winning a Grand final
- 13:31Speaker 5: partying like you do after a Grand final, and I'm
- 13:34Speaker 5: sitting there going November descend, I'm going back to pre season.
- 13:40Speaker 5: Hey Dave out sorry, I'm still a partying. I'm done
- 13:44Speaker 5: because he's got nothing else to prove. He was signed
- 13:47Speaker 5: here at a club to bring success and he's definitely
- 13:50Speaker 5: done that. And and that's from a professionalism side of
- 13:54Speaker 5: things on and off the field as well. Taught a
- 13:56Speaker 5: lot of young guys a lot of great things. So
- 13:59Speaker 5: he's been bringing for our club and he's only going
- 14:02Speaker 5: to grow and develop now into a coach.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Well, he's going to be a coach, there's no doubt
- 14:07Speaker 2: about that.
- 14:08Speaker 3: He coaches now, like ever since he's moved here. First
- 14:14Speaker 3: first week he was he was coaching. He was coaching,
- 14:16Speaker 3: he was coaching the kids, coaching the team, and it's
- 14:18Speaker 3: always everyone to do.
- 14:19Speaker 2: He loves footy. It's like he was born rugby league.
- 14:23Speaker 3: And you know, I've been I've been probably the most
- 14:27Speaker 3: annoying person he's ever had in the last few years.
- 14:29Speaker 3: But I've been really seriously chatting to him about his
- 14:32Speaker 3: future and I think, you know, you remember it's it's
- 14:36Speaker 3: sometimes scary, but I feel like when you actually understand,
- 14:39Speaker 3: you know I'm going to be all right, you know,
- 14:41Speaker 3: when you're like, you know he's going to be a coach.
- 14:43Speaker 3: I didn't know I was going to be all right,
- 14:44Speaker 3: but I knew I was going to be okay. Like
- 14:46Speaker 3: I knew there was going to be something because I
- 14:49Speaker 3: did all the hard yards and I stayed. I took
- 14:51Speaker 3: all the less offers, but I just wanted to start
- 14:53Speaker 3: at a great club. He's now won a comp he's turned
- 14:55Speaker 3: this club around, He's proven it, like you know, the
- 14:58Speaker 3: public love in the city loves him. You know he's
- 15:01Speaker 3: going to be you know, he's going to go down
- 15:03Speaker 3: to history for club great, you know, for doing what
- 15:06Speaker 3: he's done and help the team back.
- 15:07Speaker 2: But he's going to be a coach. There's no doubt
- 15:10Speaker 2: about it.
- 15:11Speaker 3: And look, I honestly think he could end up being
- 15:14Speaker 3: because obviously being a part of it and listening and
- 15:16Speaker 3: learning off him, he could end up.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Being one of the great coaches.
- 15:19Speaker 3: I really do, because he's such a smart footing head
- 15:22Speaker 3: and he knows he doesn't just put the players in groups,
- 15:26Speaker 3: individualizes each player talks to him differently, helps him differently,
- 15:31Speaker 3: and I think that's the importance to a coach.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Do you remember when you made your decision like that
- 15:37Speaker 1: was your retirement time?
- 15:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I think I was.
- 15:40Speaker 5: I was in negotiations with the club at the time
- 15:42Speaker 5: to try and get a one year extension and they
- 15:45Speaker 5: said no, So then I said I was going to
- 15:47Speaker 5: retire anyway.
- 15:51Speaker 4: How they go after that?
- 15:52Speaker 2: How they go after that?
- 15:54Speaker 4: Actually they won the Wooden Spoon after that.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Val What about you.
- 16:00Speaker 1: When you were when I made my mind out?
- 16:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it was after that year I had broken door
- 16:08Speaker 3: knee cleaning out torn PCL and something else.
- 16:11Speaker 4: What else happened is that when you like thought you
- 16:12Speaker 4: break your leg as well?
- 16:13Speaker 2: That was that was the agent before. I think that
- 16:16Speaker 2: was gonna come last.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Well that's broke. I didn't think that made tires. Doctor,
- 16:20Speaker 3: don't even start. It wasn't me, Luke.
- 16:23Speaker 2: You had me chill.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Next minute it was broken, I went, Hi, can't beaund frash.
- 16:30Speaker 1: That's when because it looked like you're sticking out anyway.
- 16:34Speaker 3: But that was the ages before that. But then I
- 16:37Speaker 3: just yeah, my body that enough.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Yeah. I think I went five years. I had a
- 16:41Speaker 2: week off every year and it just hit me.
- 16:44Speaker 1: And how did the Broncos go after you left?
- 16:46Speaker 2: I think that that one. I want a premiership if
- 16:48Speaker 2: you need the answer to.
- 16:49Speaker 4: That really let me.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Actually, speaking of speaking of fractures, I don't know if
- 16:57Speaker 1: the cameras can get this.
- 16:58Speaker 2: What are you done on yournee? There? Mate? Oh my god?
- 17:00Speaker 2: I seen this video.
- 17:01Speaker 5: I was gonna ask you what's wrong with you?
- 17:05Speaker 2: You got issues?
- 17:06Speaker 1: What do you mean?
- 17:07Speaker 2: I watched? If you haven't mate? You sprinting out out
- 17:09Speaker 2: and diving? Yeah was the ground? Okay, that like a
- 17:13Speaker 2: heavy dive.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Let's find a clip. Yeah, put his clip up.
- 17:17Speaker 3: You know, the clip is when he dives and they
- 17:19Speaker 3: cut the clip. But I wanted to see the end
- 17:21Speaker 3: result of that. He was a young twenty year old kid.
- 17:26Speaker 3: He was pretty cute, you know. He probably he probably
- 17:29Speaker 3: couldn't get him. He probably could get a whole heap
- 17:30Speaker 3: of girls if you wanted to too. And I chased him
- 17:33Speaker 3: down to the corner.
- 17:34Speaker 5: But he didn't get him. Mate, you didn't get him.
- 17:36Speaker 5: It's one hundred plus kilo. He didn't score, mate. I've
- 17:39Speaker 5: got his tags. Bro.
- 17:41Speaker 2: They didn't show that clip.
- 17:43Speaker 1: All right. Can we talk about who's going to who's
- 17:45Speaker 1: going to make the eighth this year?
- 17:47Speaker 6: Oh?
- 17:47Speaker 4: We're talking footing now, Okay.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I thought I thought it was saying fun.
- 17:51Speaker 4: Okay, you want to go first?
- 17:54Speaker 5: We got the first the first top four Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 17:58Speaker 5: very very simp Broncos, Roosters, Storm Storms and Thom's Well.
- 18:07Speaker 3: The top four is a five panthers and dogs dogs.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Okay, are you are you a certain on the dogs? No?
- 18:14Speaker 5: I do like the dogs, and I like how they've
- 18:17Speaker 5: really grown and developed. They kind of they kind of
- 18:21Speaker 5: fell off a little bit last year because it's it's
- 18:23Speaker 5: hard to be at the top when you've got such
- 18:25Speaker 5: a such a young squad is still trying to learn
- 18:28Speaker 5: each other gameplay and stuff like that. Big interruptions throughout
- 18:34Speaker 5: the year for them as well, Lucky Galvin coming over
- 18:36Speaker 5: to them, which affect it did.
- 18:39Speaker 4: Massively, you know.
- 18:41Speaker 5: And it was they were unwanted and unnecessary headlines for
- 18:45Speaker 5: the players at the club that that was an administration
- 18:49Speaker 5: move at the end of the day. That's not the
- 18:50Speaker 5: players out there, and it kind of they were probably
- 18:53Speaker 5: headlines that the club didn't want. But I think, yes,
- 18:56Speaker 5: from from an outside look at him, Stephen Crichton looks
- 18:59Speaker 5: like an absolute beast. Lucky Galvin broke their Bronco record
- 19:04Speaker 5: down there. It four minutes nineteen. I think I think
- 19:10Speaker 5: I finished, Like the best I ever did was one
- 19:12Speaker 5: was five ninety maybe six nineteen.
- 19:17Speaker 4: Broncos.
- 19:18Speaker 5: The Bronco is it's a one point two k test
- 19:23Speaker 5: and it's a rebound test, So you go from the
- 19:25Speaker 5: from the try line to the twenty meter and back
- 19:29Speaker 5: up to the forty meter and back and then up
- 19:31Speaker 5: to the sixty meter and back.
- 19:32Speaker 4: You do that five times. Yeah, so he.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Did that before nineteen.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's just like I quit twice doing it. Actually, yeah,
- 19:43Speaker 3: when I was, well, I'm.
- 19:45Speaker 5: A tug boat. I like I turn like take a white.
- 19:49Speaker 5: I'd take a white.
- 19:51Speaker 3: And they go talk about it turns no, No, I just
- 19:53Speaker 3: hate running. Yeah, it was just simple.
- 19:56Speaker 5: Like there's probably another reason why you got the nickname
- 19:58Speaker 5: Gary because your Gary Jack was always gone.
- 20:01Speaker 2: It was always yeah, I was always on the ground.
- 20:05Speaker 1: He got three left the eight.
- 20:08Speaker 4: I'm going to say the cowboys from.
- 20:10Speaker 2: That cows cows.
- 20:12Speaker 1: That'll need a bit of a turn around.
- 20:14Speaker 2: I'm going worries if.
- 20:16Speaker 5: His old mate start in the year, metcalf metcalf will
- 20:20Speaker 5: be right. No, I don't think for the start start
- 20:23Speaker 5: of the year, but he won't be far off. And
- 20:25Speaker 5: I thought Tanner Boy did a great job as well.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I think.
- 20:28Speaker 1: I think when they when Metcalfe was playing, though, they
- 20:31Speaker 1: were unbelieved.
- 20:32Speaker 2: No, no, but and that's what the good thing is for him.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Like they've gotten better every year, and they've got a
- 20:37Speaker 3: young team and some players some people haven't heard of
- 20:40Speaker 3: their bloody performing and I just think they're going to
- 20:42Speaker 3: get better as they go again, younger team, a lot
- 20:45Speaker 3: more they stick together, you know, Like the better they get.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Yea more of a bond I think Sharks will be
- 20:50Speaker 2: in there.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Sharkys no Raiders, Well.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Then my next two are Raiders and tightened could be
- 20:56Speaker 3: a team.
- 20:57Speaker 2: I'm calling it to make being serious. I really think
- 21:00Speaker 2: that they have a chance.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Okay, with him there and what he's done to that club,
- 21:04Speaker 3: what you cotch Jo like. You know, he's getting rid
- 21:07Speaker 3: of all the all the bullshit, all the crap. You know,
- 21:09Speaker 3: if you don't want to be here for the right reasons.
- 21:11Speaker 2: They've got a new owner structure down there.
- 21:14Speaker 3: I just think it needs something like that, and this
- 21:16Speaker 3: could be what they needed all these years, and you
- 21:19Speaker 3: know Tino stayed. I think all these boost and everything,
- 21:23Speaker 3: it's like their preseason. The way it's going, I really
- 21:26Speaker 3: think they could have a cracking year.
- 21:28Speaker 5: My new favorite player as the forwards down there as well,
- 21:31Speaker 5: Cooper Bye.
- 21:32Speaker 2: You love him right, think about him.
- 21:35Speaker 5: Marcus By, his son played in the Queensland Nineteens last year.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Yes, he's a work. He's a that nineties game. Have
- 21:43Speaker 3: I ever seen some talent come through that's going to
- 21:46Speaker 3: be up there with I reckon, there's got to be
- 21:48Speaker 3: some kids come out of that game.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Where was Marcus By? Was he storm storm?
- 21:51Speaker 4: Storm?
- 21:52Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 21:52Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Yeah, how many sad things we named ten?
- 22:00Speaker 4: Who's going to get the spoon?
- 22:01Speaker 1: Then?
- 22:01Speaker 2: I don't know, like I actually don't know.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I think the I'm so close now and I
- 22:06Speaker 3: think all teams last year, like you know, four years ago,
- 22:09Speaker 3: you could always just say Tigers West Tigers. Yeah, I
- 22:12Speaker 3: reckon they're going to be a good chance of being
- 22:14Speaker 3: that a high eight, I mean the bottom mate, but
- 22:18Speaker 3: even close to ten night around.
- 22:20Speaker 2: You know, Paramatta, they got no mental moses.
- 22:22Speaker 5: If he if the Tigers are going to like if
- 22:24Speaker 5: they're going to go up the ladder off finish ninth,
- 22:25Speaker 5: that's prett usual.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Yeah, but I just it's so hard, like power could
- 22:30Speaker 2: even make the ah.
- 22:30Speaker 3: But I just think that it's the competition is the
- 22:34Speaker 3: best it's been competitive wise, Yeah, for a long long time,
- 22:38Speaker 3: and it's.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Only getting better and better. So they're blast I got
- 22:42Speaker 2: no I'd rather draw it out of a hat. Yeah, okay,
- 22:45Speaker 2: I couldn't. I couldn't beg it. No, I don't no idea.
- 22:49Speaker 1: And Lomax is he going to play? Because if he'll
- 22:54Speaker 1: play this season, I don't don't know who for. But
- 22:56Speaker 1: he's in a pickle. Yeah, he signed the contract, so
- 22:59Speaker 1: he left Power to go to three sixty three sixty folded.
- 23:03Speaker 3: He signed a contract right, and lawyers were involved. It
- 23:06Speaker 3: was all above, It was.
- 23:07Speaker 1: All so what was the deal as far as you know, Well.
- 23:10Speaker 3: If he's left that, if he tried to come back,
- 23:14Speaker 3: if it was all approve him to come back into
- 23:17Speaker 3: the game. Because at the time Vilena was saying, you
- 23:19Speaker 3: go on down, blah blah blah. But if he was
- 23:21Speaker 3: to return, he couldn't play for any other club.
- 23:24Speaker 1: So he had to come back to Power.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Yes, and now Pa don't want it, but I don't
- 23:28Speaker 3: think he wants to be there. I don't think by
- 23:30Speaker 3: the sounds of it. But he's on a lot of money,
- 23:33Speaker 3: so he has they have in return. They got to
- 23:35Speaker 3: get a light for light player that they agree on
- 23:37Speaker 3: from Storm, from whoever wanted at the moment of Storm,
- 23:40Speaker 3: so Storm would have and I think they got to
- 23:42Speaker 3: pay his full weight. See that's what Storm has been
- 23:44Speaker 3: good at for a long time. They'll pick up a
- 23:47Speaker 3: player that does isn't one and they'll play fifty grand
- 23:50Speaker 3: of a grand contract and they turned it into a
- 23:53Speaker 3: weapon for two years. They're paying threaten grand for this gun. Right,
- 23:57Speaker 3: So they've done that for a long time. They're very
- 23:59Speaker 3: good at it, but.
- 23:59Speaker 1: You reckon, someone will find a deal.
- 24:01Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't think we've been in this
- 24:03Speaker 2: situation before.
- 24:04Speaker 5: I think the season start and there'll be a couple
- 24:07Speaker 5: of squads that'd be looking for a outside back. Yeah,
- 24:12Speaker 5: a money yeah, because he's on eight hundred. Yeah, big money.
- 24:17Speaker 5: He is a big money player.
- 24:18Speaker 1: So yeah, all right, let's go deadpool coaches. Which coach
- 24:22Speaker 1: is going to be the first one.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Because who's under the most fire, open, who's under the
- 24:26Speaker 3: most pressure.
- 24:27Speaker 4: Probably Toddy the Cowboys.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Which I'd hate to see him go because I think
- 24:31Speaker 2: he's done.
- 24:32Speaker 5: Some great I think he's brilliant stuff up there, and
- 24:34Speaker 5: it's it's always hard. They had a fantastic season where
- 24:36Speaker 5: they were brilliant and they trained really hard and he
- 24:39Speaker 5: would like to do surprise Buddy Castle Hill runs and
- 24:42Speaker 5: stuff for him, but it's hard to do that every
- 24:45Speaker 5: year consistently, that type of training because you burn your
- 24:47Speaker 5: players out. It looks like they've been training hard up
- 24:51Speaker 5: there in Townsville again, but they need.
- 24:53Speaker 2: To do I think he's under the most well.
- 24:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I think in the first trial match, I thought
- 24:57Speaker 5: that Jake Clifford played really well in the halves. I'd
- 24:59Speaker 5: love to see him just put the six jersey on
- 25:02Speaker 5: play alongside Tommy Didon. Yeah, he doesn't have to do
- 25:05Speaker 5: like the stand and deliver. Tommy can run the team. Yeah,
- 25:08Speaker 5: because that's probably one of the biggest problems they've had,
- 25:10Speaker 5: is secure in that second half up there. I think that,
- 25:14Speaker 5: do you think he's supposed too much on being a
- 25:15Speaker 5: half back? And yeah, I think he'd be a great Yeah,
- 25:19Speaker 5: and you know it's less stress too, but.
- 25:21Speaker 2: He delivers great balls.
- 25:23Speaker 3: I feel like he's got a good decision making on
- 25:25Speaker 3: that on that quick shoulder at the back.
- 25:28Speaker 2: The pressure gets him as a half so I think, yeah,
- 25:30Speaker 2: I think.
- 25:31Speaker 5: You're looking at that Cowboys squad and then the way
- 25:33Speaker 5: they kind of finished the year last year, I reckon, Yeah,
- 25:35Speaker 5: Toddy is probably.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Under the most if they don't if they don't perform,
- 25:39Speaker 1: then he's probably gone, well, yeah, and we're going to
- 25:41Speaker 1: actually get to see that in the Flesh in Vegas
- 25:44Speaker 1: opening round.
- 25:44Speaker 4: Actually, I'll tell Toddy that you said that.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll be right there and the heads up, what's up?
- 25:50Speaker 1: Because they're seeing the Cowboys, so that'll be their first
- 25:58Speaker 1: real test. Man.
- 25:59Speaker 2: You did have his back though I have his back,
- 26:01Speaker 2: I really do.
- 26:02Speaker 5: But yeah, but I think, yeah, you asked the question,
- 26:05Speaker 5: and then at the end of the day, he's the
- 26:06Speaker 5: one that's onder the most pressure. But I'm a bit jealous. Actually,
- 26:09Speaker 5: you boy's got a.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Want to come.
- 26:14Speaker 1: We could have organized that white travel. We had dead
- 26:16Speaker 1: from White Travel hooked flights a calm she's got to
- 26:20Speaker 1: staying at.
- 26:22Speaker 5: Yeah, but you know, you don't get this big if
- 26:26Speaker 5: you're not money hungry at the end of the day,
- 26:28Speaker 5: and I wanted to.
- 26:29Speaker 4: Get paid.
- 26:31Speaker 2: For what food?
- 26:33Speaker 4: Hey, food's expensive, okay in the States is Actually I'm happy.
- 26:39Speaker 5: I'm happy for the flights, accommodation. I just need Folding
- 26:43Speaker 5: as the home of the Maybe that's why I couldn't come.
- 26:48Speaker 5: I'm on a restricted diet. Yeah, ice cream only. Yeah.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Actually, speaking of of all things America, NFL, we just
- 26:58Speaker 1: had the Super Bowl and Michael Dixon, our own Australian punter,
- 27:04Speaker 1: was was excellent and it was kind of boring part
- 27:06Speaker 1: of the game, but it's really important he's punting.
- 27:09Speaker 2: He was a good punt in the game.
- 27:10Speaker 3: No, he did a lot, so I think he changed
- 27:13Speaker 3: the way they punt over there. When he was first
- 27:17Speaker 3: moved over. I believe he started like putting the ball,
- 27:20Speaker 3: you know, and we could at the point where they
- 27:22Speaker 3: were always on the belly.
- 27:24Speaker 4: They're doing the talkies.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Yeah, well they couldn't control the ball, and then he
- 27:27Speaker 3: was starting to just put him in the corners.
- 27:28Speaker 2: And then I was like wow.
- 27:29Speaker 3: And in the Super bowlink it was five times he
- 27:32Speaker 3: kicked at in five yard line, which it's like us
- 27:35Speaker 3: coming off at one.
- 27:37Speaker 2: It's just like a battering ram. And he did that.
- 27:40Speaker 3: But just consistently his kicks kept them just on top
- 27:44Speaker 3: of the.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Whole game from the start.
- 27:45Speaker 1: So they've been taken out of AFL players, particularly juniors
- 27:48Speaker 1: for over in NFL for a long time. Is there
- 27:51Speaker 1: a rugby league kicker that you reckon could make it? Like,
- 27:54Speaker 1: could that they would have eyes on?
- 27:57Speaker 4: Well maybe Moses. Moses.
- 28:01Speaker 3: Moses got one of the got the second biggest, if
- 28:04Speaker 3: not the exact.
- 28:04Speaker 5: Same, and from a point of putting it on the spots,
- 28:08Speaker 5: pretty damn good.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Yeah, very good.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Actually, speaking of birdo, did you see there's a cliff
- 28:12Speaker 1: Man massive?
- 28:15Speaker 2: Did you see that.
- 28:17Speaker 1: This kick will put the clip up? This kick of Burdos?
- 28:20Speaker 1: How to how to crack sixty eight? Must be there
- 28:23Speaker 1: sixty eight yards. He's had a he's kicked a conversion
- 28:26Speaker 1: with an NFL ball, which is the NFL record.
- 28:30Speaker 2: He broke the record.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Yeah, and he just had a crack. It's just it's
- 28:33Speaker 1: just a training is clean. That so he could actually
- 28:36Speaker 1: not only be their punter, could but he could also
- 28:39Speaker 1: be their goalkicker.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Yeah, but I don't like that, do they They don't
- 28:42Speaker 3: miss Yeah, they like you miss five in the season,
- 28:48Speaker 3: you're pretty much done.
- 28:50Speaker 2: You're not back next year.
- 28:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:51Speaker 1: And I saw some some of some of the comments
- 28:54Speaker 1: where you kicked it without it it looked like you
- 28:56Speaker 1: kicked it off the ground one of the commentsators on
- 29:00Speaker 1: the team.
- 29:00Speaker 2: But that's ball.
- 29:01Speaker 1: But the other thing is they said is you you
- 29:03Speaker 1: haven't got the pressure of someone running at you when
- 29:04Speaker 1: you have that kick.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Do you reckon?
- 29:05Speaker 1: That makes a huge difference.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Well, I think it does. I think it would.
- 29:10Speaker 3: But their routine is so setah that you go through
- 29:14Speaker 3: a routine, you don't lift your head up. There's no
- 29:16Speaker 3: reason for him to feel pressure because they're so far away.
- 29:19Speaker 2: In the end, if the throwers right, everything's right.
- 29:21Speaker 3: You're just doing your routine and kick the ball. And
- 29:24Speaker 3: I think he's one of those guys. That is all routine. Yeah,
- 29:26Speaker 3: you know, his kicks are just routine. I'm going to
- 29:29Speaker 3: give a quick shout out to Graham kicking McCone. He
- 29:31Speaker 3: used to be the kicking coach.
- 29:33Speaker 5: Kicking acone is that his actual name? With you just killing,
- 29:36Speaker 5: he's like this kicker. His nickname was kicker. Sure, his
- 29:40Speaker 5: middle name was a kicker good man, who knows? Anyway,
- 29:43Speaker 5: he was the Bronco's kicking coach for many many years.
- 29:46Speaker 5: Did a lot of work with Mick de Vier actually,
- 29:49Speaker 5: and I always just wanted to get on the kicking
- 29:51Speaker 5: squad and just kick goals because they used to go
- 29:54Speaker 5: and play golf and again he would talk to him
- 29:57Speaker 5: about routine. So that's same as your golf swing. You
- 29:59Speaker 5: stand there at the tee, you're going, you go through
- 30:01Speaker 5: the same thing every time. You do the same thing
- 30:03Speaker 5: every time. It's about finding and you're out your routine,
- 30:06Speaker 5: gone through it a kicker?
- 30:08Speaker 2: Are you going?
- 30:08Speaker 4: Brother?
- 30:09Speaker 1: New rules? Now, there's one idea that's already been wiped.
- 30:11Speaker 1: That was the who gets to kick off? After they
- 30:14Speaker 1: got rid of.
- 30:14Speaker 5: That, Yeah, I didn't like that one, so I'm glad that.
- 30:18Speaker 2: My point is, what do you reckon?
- 30:21Speaker 3: Either change the rule or just leave it like they
- 30:24Speaker 3: were going to give them the option that that defeats
- 30:26Speaker 3: a purpose change.
- 30:28Speaker 4: He just wanted to go the old scorer's kick.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, just the change kick on it, and then
- 30:34Speaker 2: I'm glad they went.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Any other new rules that have picked your interested.
- 30:40Speaker 5: There is the seven tackle rule for an indiscretion like
- 30:45Speaker 5: a knock on from an attacking team. So if if
- 30:49Speaker 5: it is going to score the try in the corner,
- 30:51Speaker 5: knox it on get sprayed by the whole team, and
- 30:55Speaker 5: then instead.
- 30:56Speaker 6: Of that yelling one job yeah, now instead of that
- 31:04Speaker 6: being even tackle for the opposition, it's a normal.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Well yeah, more normal taps.
- 31:11Speaker 3: I think that's good, But what I am, I'm a
- 31:14Speaker 3: lot I'm still annoyed about this real like, over the
- 31:17Speaker 3: years they've spent the.
- 31:17Speaker 2: Game up, they're making it quicker, and I'm fine with that.
- 31:21Speaker 3: They will never change the sixth general They've said that, Well,
- 31:23Speaker 3: I'm still waiting for them to change the seven tackle
- 31:27Speaker 3: rule on the twenty tap.
- 31:30Speaker 2: My thing is, the game is so quick.
- 31:32Speaker 3: Why are you penalizing our kickers for not even for
- 31:36Speaker 3: the ball going a centimeter over when they didn't mean to,
- 31:40Speaker 3: And they're getting seven tackles, but not only seven tackles,
- 31:42Speaker 3: you get a twenty meter tap.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Yeah that you mean if you kick it it dead.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's seven tackles.
- 31:50Speaker 3: And they bought that rule in I feel like was
- 31:52Speaker 3: to get rid of that, you know, the Jared Hayne
- 31:54Speaker 3: ere the gis, the fullbacks and the outside backs with yeah, yeah,
- 31:59Speaker 3: they'll kicking them dead because like we can control them
- 32:02Speaker 3: more chance, whereas now no one's doing that right, And
- 32:05Speaker 3: I feel like the games that quick there's a rule
- 32:07Speaker 3: where it's like, just just give the kickers a benefit
- 32:10Speaker 3: of doubt, like they're working their ass off.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Doesn't it come back though? If they if they start,
- 32:15Speaker 1: if that rule goes, won't they just start kicking it
- 32:17Speaker 1: dead again?
- 32:18Speaker 2: No, no way, because it's not the way the game is.
- 32:21Speaker 5: Well, I reckon what they do, Like, I would love
- 32:23Speaker 5: to see this as a as a rule change that
- 32:25Speaker 5: so scrap the seven tagle said. But then the team,
- 32:29Speaker 5: the attacking team that gets the ball in and tap
- 32:32Speaker 5: it whenever, so you don't have to wait for players
- 32:34Speaker 5: on side whenever. If it's a long kick down the
- 32:36Speaker 5: field and it rolls dead and the fullback can get
- 32:39Speaker 5: it get to the twenty meter line and tap it
- 32:42Speaker 5: and just go.
- 32:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:45Speaker 4: Yeah, so you get an advantage there.
- 32:47Speaker 5: So you may have a broken line that you can
- 32:50Speaker 5: run against.
- 32:51Speaker 2: So then you don't take the full back out at all.
- 32:53Speaker 5: Yes, so you're actually giving the fullback that ability to
- 32:55Speaker 5: be able to run out a broken line.
- 32:57Speaker 4: Again, So change suggestion until.
- 33:01Speaker 3: I thought about the idea of the wing team shepherding
- 33:04Speaker 3: every that you put your person running back the old
- 33:08Speaker 3: NFL shepherd.
- 33:09Speaker 4: Can get out. You got to get out of the way, bro.
- 33:11Speaker 2: You just stop like the old stop broe.
- 33:14Speaker 5: Just yeahsla on the ground, just lay on the ground.
- 33:22Speaker 1: So yes, if you if you've got a point on
- 33:25Speaker 1: that or a question, you can email the shared at podshape,
- 33:28Speaker 1: dot com, dot you.
- 33:30Speaker 2: And dot com. That's all I said. I didn't put
- 33:34Speaker 2: you at the end. You just you if you want
- 33:36Speaker 2: you want to do it, Yeah, that's what just dot
- 33:41Speaker 2: com dot com. Yeah, and you just put a calm
- 33:44Speaker 2: on it.
- 33:44Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm thinking about I don't know if you boys
- 33:48Speaker 5: are up for it anyway, but starting only fans the shed,
- 33:53Speaker 5: only fans, what do we do video whatever, whatever we want,
- 33:58Speaker 5: people are going to have to find out and figure out.
- 34:00Speaker 5: I'll do that stuff I'll do. I've got a really
- 34:03Speaker 5: bad black tail at the moment.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Like I saw your Instagram the other day and I
- 34:09Speaker 1: saw you about to take your sock off, and I
- 34:11Speaker 1: just know I can't look at that discuss. I don't
- 34:15Speaker 1: want to know about it.
- 34:16Speaker 4: Don't try and foot shame me here on this podcast.
- 34:20Speaker 3: To keep pretty rank feet thank you, and people are
- 34:25Speaker 3: into it really yeah for gagging.
- 34:28Speaker 5: Well, if they want to up to them, what do
- 34:35Speaker 5: you reckon?
- 34:35Speaker 4: Only fans for the ship you control it.
- 34:38Speaker 5: Yeah, anyway, all of these seats have cameras underneath. Yeah,
- 34:49Speaker 5: I've got another, uh, great rule change. I played oz
- 34:54Speaker 5: Tag a couple of weekends ago and it was it
- 34:58Speaker 5: was a little bit different. So there was different scoring zones, yeah,
- 35:02Speaker 5: different points in a different points systems and stuff like that.
- 35:05Speaker 5: I thought maybe you could bring points systems in for
- 35:08Speaker 5: players out there as well. I know in the basketball
- 35:11Speaker 5: realm it's it's huge if you can get a triple
- 35:13Speaker 5: double in the game. And I thought maybe like wingers
- 35:18Speaker 5: who are known to be a little bit less kind
- 35:21Speaker 5: of winger, Yeah, they're a bit lazy, they don't they
- 35:25Speaker 5: would never ever get a triple double. So ten plus
- 35:29Speaker 5: carries step tick wingers can do that these days pretty easy.
- 35:33Speaker 5: Ten tackles. Ten tackles. You're ready to get ten tackles
- 35:38Speaker 5: in a game?
- 35:38Speaker 2: Yes?
- 35:38Speaker 4: All right? What about this though?
- 35:40Speaker 5: So this is the that's the two, the triple part
- 35:43Speaker 5: of the double.
- 35:45Speaker 4: Ten catchers.
- 35:45Speaker 5: You've got to catch the ball ten times, all.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Right, now or not?
- 35:52Speaker 4: I don't know where this is going to go.
- 35:53Speaker 2: You don't pick balls at me.
- 35:55Speaker 5: We're going to prove it today. So we're going to
- 35:58Speaker 5: go to the park across the road. I've got three
- 36:00Speaker 5: footballs in the locker. Can you open the shed please?
- 36:03Speaker 2: Locker?
- 36:04Speaker 4: Get them this? Yeah, down the bottom. Here we go.
- 36:09Speaker 5: I've got some I got some footies. The dog's been
- 36:13Speaker 5: chewing on that one. That's a beach football.
- 36:16Speaker 2: That one. Yeah, but I'm gonna go.
- 36:18Speaker 4: I brought me footy boots and everything.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Mate.
- 36:20Speaker 4: I'm gonna put some bombs up. You got to catch
- 36:22Speaker 4: ten kids. Safety first. I'm gonna put one boot on,
- 36:29Speaker 4: a couple of legs wings. Give myself ready. Now, it's
- 36:32Speaker 4: a simple.
- 36:32Speaker 5: We're gonna put ten kicks out for if he catches it,
- 36:36Speaker 5: he gets a triple.
- 36:37Speaker 2: Double bonus points for his team.
- 36:38Speaker 4: So he said he could do it. Still see if
- 36:42Speaker 4: he can.
- 36:44Speaker 5: Oh, I want to start with the little kidd's balls,
- 36:48Speaker 5: little beach footy ball.
- 36:50Speaker 2: Now, yeah, here we go.
- 36:54Speaker 5: Oh yeah, one, good eyes one.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Oh, tuffy elbows in, tuffy elbows.
- 37:02Speaker 5: Yah, Bruce, can you put a picture on him please? Yeah,
- 37:16Speaker 5: the warble on.
- 37:23Speaker 7: More.
- 37:24Speaker 5: I'm gonna try a little inside out to walk to
- 37:26Speaker 5: see if I can get it. What you got nine
- 37:37Speaker 5: out of ten?
- 37:38Speaker 4: Not bad? You didn't get the triple double.
- 37:40Speaker 3: Now, well, look to be it's fair either killer guy
- 37:43Speaker 3: or I'll get the triple double.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Thanks mane.
- 37:46Speaker 2: Let's go back to the studio. I'm off.
- 37:50Speaker 1: All right, So trials this weekend. What does that mean
- 37:52Speaker 1: for Bronco. Broncos are in London, right, yeah, yeah, they.
- 37:57Speaker 5: Play yeah, young, young, young, The youngs that are here
- 38:01Speaker 5: all play.
- 38:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:01Speaker 5: So they took a squad over to the UK and
- 38:05Speaker 5: and the guys that stayed back we'll play in that
- 38:07Speaker 5: trial match. So again we've got a few affiliate clubs
- 38:10Speaker 5: at the Broncos. So it's a great opportunity for some
- 38:13Speaker 5: of those young guys to have a crack and maybe
- 38:16Speaker 5: be seen. And like the best part about these trial
- 38:18Speaker 5: matches now is they're actually televised and like, let's say
- 38:23Speaker 5: you are a part of the Bronco squad right here
- 38:25Speaker 5: and right now.
- 38:26Speaker 4: It doesn't mean that you're going to be there forever.
- 38:27Speaker 5: So you get to be seen by opportunity teams, coaches,
- 38:31Speaker 5: those types of things.
- 38:32Speaker 4: So yeah, huge opportunity.
- 38:34Speaker 5: Usually these early trial matches are the younger guys get
- 38:37Speaker 5: a crack. The closer you get to the season, the
- 38:41Speaker 5: more big name players you'll have playing.
- 38:43Speaker 3: I always see the second week, as you know, it's
- 38:46Speaker 3: a new the young kid that has caught the eye
- 38:49Speaker 3: of the of the of the coaches, maybe trained hard
- 38:52Speaker 3: and trained hard, has had it, has had multiple shots
- 38:57Speaker 3: and they're like, look to show or something, or it's
- 38:59Speaker 3: it's it's the.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Old guy that like the older player who.
- 39:03Speaker 3: Just wants to gain warm up or had a big
- 39:06Speaker 3: injury and they they want to come back from an
- 39:08Speaker 3: injury and they do maybe ten minutes, fifteen minutes, you know.
- 39:11Speaker 2: Just test it out.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Do you remember your first trial for the Bronx.
- 39:15Speaker 5: Yeah, actually he played at his hometown. Actually I played
- 39:20Speaker 5: for it was yeah, we played against he did not
- 39:23Speaker 5: playing Broll. We played against the Central Comets Umbrella. How
- 39:27Speaker 5: many binies and camps that's why we didn't play brother slow.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Okay, well the field's good there main fields below. Yeah.
- 39:36Speaker 4: Yeah, so that was my first one. We played against
- 39:38Speaker 4: the cent.
- 39:39Speaker 1: That would have been the world So the Bronco squad
- 39:42Speaker 1: were playing. Yeah.
- 39:43Speaker 5: So there was a few of us young young fellows
- 39:45Speaker 5: we were in that tour Mclyde's Dale's back in those days,
- 39:50Speaker 5: playing in the Queensland Cup. Yeah, and then there's a
- 39:52Speaker 5: few went up there. Sean Berg and Barry Bergan played
- 39:55Speaker 5: in it. So yeah, I remember mine.
- 39:58Speaker 2: I think I actually, I actually we might have been
- 40:00Speaker 2: requ when.
- 40:01Speaker 4: Were born four. Okay, he would have been there.
- 40:05Speaker 3: Think I think my first try game was Wrecked Ready
- 40:08Speaker 3: against the Cows.
- 40:10Speaker 2: Yeah, that'd be right. I think it might have been.
- 40:13Speaker 3: And I was absolutely shipping bricks, yeah, because like the
- 40:17Speaker 3: Couse scene back then was huge. They still are huge,
- 40:20Speaker 3: but all the rules back then were still like you
- 40:22Speaker 3: could kill each other. And I was just this kid,
- 40:27Speaker 3: you know who just put I was nineteen and I
- 40:30Speaker 3: had I put on twelve kilos and I didn't.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Know how to carry that weight.
- 40:33Speaker 3: Yeah, so I got I remember, I got absolutely pumped
- 40:37Speaker 3: like a fair few times, and I was just like,
- 40:39Speaker 3: I don't know if I.
- 40:39Speaker 5: Want to do this, I'm going to just knock on
- 40:44Speaker 5: some wood for all the players out there, because you
- 40:46Speaker 5: never want to get injured in a trial match. Jordan
- 40:49Speaker 5: Carr who had a bad Dale Copleague where they did
- 40:53Speaker 5: knees in trial matches and it's yeah, it just ruins
- 40:55Speaker 5: their bloody whole season. So it's all the guys that
- 40:57Speaker 5: are playing in trial matches get through safe, yes please.
- 41:00Speaker 5: And also Sunday, This Sunday is all all Stars, multi
- 41:05Speaker 5: all Stars.
- 41:07Speaker 2: I feel that I haven't heard much about it.
- 41:09Speaker 4: May You've been busy working and stuff.
- 41:11Speaker 2: You know, yeah, it was really busy, You're not Have they.
- 41:16Speaker 1: Not worked out the right time? I love this game.
- 41:18Speaker 1: I love the concept. I love the idea of love hunting.
- 41:22Speaker 1: I do love hunting. I love the idea of Australia
- 41:26Speaker 1: being able to have our indigenous team and just and
- 41:31Speaker 1: be in full support and these are our people, and
- 41:35Speaker 1: it feels like this is the first time we've ever
- 41:37Speaker 1: been able to really embrace it and it's the best,
- 41:40Speaker 1: and that it's up against the Mary people.
- 41:42Speaker 2: It's just so it's a cracking game to lead up
- 41:45Speaker 2: to the game.
- 41:46Speaker 4: That's the best and the.
- 41:48Speaker 5: Best part about it from from both sides is they
- 41:51Speaker 5: both get immersed in each other's cultures. So when it's
- 41:54Speaker 5: played here in Australia that the Indigenous boys take them
- 41:57Speaker 5: the Mauldi boys under their wing, and the Malti boys
- 42:00Speaker 5: really embrace the indigenous culture and then flip the ripped
- 42:05Speaker 5: and go over to New Zealand and you know the
- 42:07Speaker 5: boys are over there and they're you know, getting right
- 42:10Speaker 5: into the culture over there. And I think it's the
- 42:12Speaker 5: closest thing that we have these days to tribal warfare
- 42:15Speaker 5: if you think about it, and it is so true.
- 42:17Speaker 5: It's it's so good to be able to get behind
- 42:19Speaker 5: those those teams and support them.
- 42:21Speaker 4: And it's probably.
- 42:24Speaker 5: The biggest game on this weekend when it comes to
- 42:28Speaker 5: the alibora of players that are playing.
- 42:31Speaker 1: So that's what excites me about it as well. I
- 42:34Speaker 1: can't wait who you got? Hey, who'd you pick? Are
- 42:38Speaker 1: you gonna have a punt on easy? Josh Ada Carl
- 42:40Speaker 1: scored twenty tries. Nicka Hines will be pulling the string.
- 42:43Speaker 3: I think as the closest being like the picker winner.
- 42:46Speaker 3: I think the game is where it is because of
- 42:49Speaker 3: games like this, you know, the culture bringing everyone together
- 42:52Speaker 3: and combining the cultures but showcasing our players from all
- 42:56Speaker 3: the different cultures and backgrounds. And actually, I feel like
- 42:59Speaker 3: there's just so many more kids now that have been
- 43:01Speaker 3: involved with the game more and more nowt of the years,
- 43:04Speaker 3: and I I think, yeah, look, I normally you would
- 43:08Speaker 3: always go the Indigenous boys, but yeah, I think the Marriable.
- 43:12Speaker 2: It's it's hard, it's hard to pick.
- 43:15Speaker 3: I think there'll be two points in it, and I
- 43:16Speaker 3: reckon it'd be a pretty scoring I think it's gonna
- 43:18Speaker 3: be full on.
- 43:19Speaker 5: There's there's a lot of Bronx boys too that haven't
- 43:22Speaker 5: got the chance of playing this game as well. If
- 43:24Speaker 5: you think about it so big Xavier Willison for the
- 43:27Speaker 5: Multi All Stars before Ezra Manasaki, all these guys that yeah, yeah,
- 43:35Speaker 5: they would have played, but yeah they're off playing for
- 43:38Speaker 5: the World Club.
- 43:38Speaker 1: I wonder if it needs a better spot. I wonder
- 43:40Speaker 1: if this. I do love it that it's that it's
- 43:42Speaker 1: happening this weekend, but I feel like it kind of
- 43:45Speaker 1: gets lost and the players aren't necessarily prepped for it.
- 43:48Speaker 5: Yeah, it's it's hard. Once the season starts, it's yeah,
- 43:54Speaker 5: so hard to be able to drag so many players
- 43:58Speaker 5: from from a club.
- 43:59Speaker 3: Yeah, are you still at the ends when we said
- 44:02Speaker 3: to buy yes, and they used to it then, and
- 44:05Speaker 3: I think it was it wasn't it was just had
- 44:09Speaker 3: And was that when they used to do this game
- 44:12Speaker 3: they do a different I don't know, I think back.
- 44:16Speaker 3: I can't remember now, maybe not, But don't do that anymore.
- 44:22Speaker 5: I'm laughing about that now when I laughed about city.
- 44:24Speaker 5: It's a true real thing, guys. Yeah, I think it's
- 44:27Speaker 5: just concentration for me.
- 44:28Speaker 2: I just.
- 44:31Speaker 4: Okay, it's not working. Double those.
- 44:35Speaker 7: He does need tablets. Ah, his mates know, and any tablets.
- 44:42Speaker 7: You're talking a lot, buddy.
- 44:47Speaker 1: It's like cramming when he's had all those coffe it's.
- 44:49Speaker 2: A real thing. Then, I'm going quite all right. Well
- 44:55Speaker 2: back next week.
- 44:56Speaker 1: This is our first, this is our trial round.
- 44:57Speaker 2: We'll get better. That's great, that's good.
- 45:01Speaker 4: Yeah, get better just by there.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, all right,
