- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to on Base presented by Geico. Get More Baseball,
- 0:04Speaker 1: Get More with Geico. I'm Mookie Betts, and today we
- 0:08Speaker 1: have an All Star Silver Slugger, a batting champion, and
- 0:14Speaker 1: a Gold Glover Bobby Wood Junior. How you doing, bro great?
- 0:18Speaker 2: Thank you for having me.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Thanks for coming on. It's a beautiful day in Kansas City.
- 0:23Speaker 1: It's a thousand degrees outside, So how do you deal
- 0:26Speaker 1: with that. It's it's like it's cold at the beginning
- 0:29Speaker 1: of the season and then blazing hot during the summer.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Yeah, you get pretty much all like kind of the
- 0:33Speaker 3: seasons out here. And but growing up in Texas used
- 0:37Speaker 3: to the heat, so I kind of like it.
- 0:38Speaker 1: So you like the heat, what about the cold?
- 0:41Speaker 3: The cold just take some time to get used to,
- 0:43Speaker 3: especially with just kind of you don't want to miss
- 0:45Speaker 3: the barrel, hurt your hands, and so just figuring out
- 0:49Speaker 3: what you need to wear, how light you can wear
- 0:51Speaker 3: your clothes but stay warm, and so I think that
- 0:53Speaker 3: was like kind of the biggest thing. And then just
- 0:54Speaker 3: kind of figure out different ways to keep the warm
- 0:58Speaker 3: in your body and so, okay, that was big.
- 1:00Speaker 1: So being in Boston, I had a couple of tricks
- 1:02Speaker 1: like I would do. I would wear two thermals under
- 1:07Speaker 1: my jersey. And then I grew up in Nashville, which
- 1:13Speaker 1: you know, it was kind of cold whatever, but I
- 1:15Speaker 1: got accustomed to wearing two pair of batting gloves. And
- 1:19Speaker 1: then when I was in Portland, Maine and Boston, it
- 1:22Speaker 1: got freezing, and so I would go two pair of
- 1:25Speaker 1: batting gloves and then two lizard skins. Oh, anything to
- 1:29Speaker 1: not hurt my hands. And so I didn't know if
- 1:31Speaker 1: you had any little tricks. I know people do use
- 1:33Speaker 1: baby oil.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Yeah, baby oil.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Is a big thing.
- 1:36Speaker 3: We actually got this news. It was called like dry
- 1:38Speaker 3: skin or something. Hunter Renfro was actually telling us about
- 1:41Speaker 3: It uses it when he goes honey and the blinds
- 1:43Speaker 3: and stuff. So you take your shower, put it on,
- 1:45Speaker 3: and it kind of keeps all the warm kind of
- 1:47Speaker 3: how the baby oil is, but it actually kind of worked.
- 1:50Speaker 2: We were doing that.
- 1:51Speaker 3: And then I wear like a thermal cut off shirt
- 1:53Speaker 3: and then just like another thermal long sleeve shirt.
- 1:56Speaker 2: I feel like that kind of.
- 1:57Speaker 1: What you got. All the guys that don't wear long sleeves,
- 2:00Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 2:01Speaker 2: I'd I'd rather be warm and sweating rather than cold.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I'm trying it.
- 2:05Speaker 3: When I'm sweating, I feel like that's when I'm at
- 2:07Speaker 3: my best, ye loose and ready to go.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Use this picture. So yeah, you know whatever, So switching gears,
- 2:13Speaker 1: I want to uh. I always play a game called
- 2:15Speaker 1: on base off base. It's whether you're entering or you're out.
- 2:19Speaker 1: So the first one is hitting a foul ball to
- 2:21Speaker 1: your dad, is the coolest thing you can do on
- 2:24Speaker 1: the diamond. You're on base or off base.
- 2:27Speaker 2: On that, I think I'm on on that.
- 2:29Speaker 3: But also he missed the foul ball, which is a
- 2:31Speaker 3: funny story. We get back to the car. So in Texas,
- 2:34Speaker 3: I'm staying at home, and so we get in the
- 2:36Speaker 3: car and i just see the ball in the center console.
- 2:38Speaker 3: I'm like, where did that ball come from? He's like,
- 2:41Speaker 3: you actually hit it. I'm like what he's like? And
- 2:42Speaker 3: then my mom's like, oh, yeah, your dad missed it.
- 2:44Speaker 3: He missed it.
- 2:45Speaker 2: It was funny how it got up in the suite but.
- 2:48Speaker 1: You didn't even notice it. Do you watch foul balls?
- 2:50Speaker 2: Not really?
- 2:50Speaker 1: No either.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Yeah I can't. I just try to, especially with the
- 2:53Speaker 2: pitch clock, and get it. I'm like, back in the buck.
- 2:55Speaker 1: You got to like mentally think about what just happened.
- 2:58Speaker 1: You gotta process a lot of things in that time.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Like you said, the pitch clock, you get, you know,
- 3:02Speaker 1: fifteen seconds.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Or more times than not. I feel like when I
- 3:05Speaker 3: hit a foul ball, I'm like, all right, gotta start earlier,
- 3:08Speaker 3: a little later, whatever it is.
- 3:09Speaker 2: It's just a little things, just trying to get off.
- 3:11Speaker 1: And does Pops come come to games.
- 3:13Speaker 3: He tries to get out quite a bit. He's actually
- 3:16Speaker 3: out this week and stuff and everything, so but he tries.
- 3:18Speaker 3: He likes to come out whenever you can. He's still
- 3:21Speaker 3: an agent, so he's out seeing all this guys they
- 3:23Speaker 3: have that.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Uh.
- 3:24Speaker 2: He was out in Arizona with that draft combine thing
- 3:27Speaker 2: the other day, and so.
- 3:28Speaker 3: He just travels around. He just loves watching the game
- 3:31Speaker 3: anytime he can come theater. And sometimes, like when we're
- 3:34Speaker 3: playing the Rangers up.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Here, it's blacked out in Texas, so the'll come up here.
- 3:38Speaker 3: It's like a seven hour drive. They'll sometimes drive but
- 3:40Speaker 3: then fly out here. So they love They love getting
- 3:42Speaker 3: out and being around the game.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Nice.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Okay, all right, what about this Kansas City barbecue is
- 3:48Speaker 1: the best kind of barbecue.
- 3:51Speaker 2: That's a tough one for me.
- 3:52Speaker 3: That is growing up in Texas, so I'm always like
- 3:55Speaker 3: my political answer, I'm fifty to fifty Texas barbecue Kansas
- 3:59Speaker 3: City barbecue.
- 3:59Speaker 1: But I okay, so what's the difference.
- 4:02Speaker 3: I think it's just kind of how they like kind
- 4:03Speaker 3: of smoke the meats in ways and so. But like
- 4:06Speaker 3: Kansas City, I think has the best burnt ins. They
- 4:08Speaker 3: were known for their burnt ins and everything. And then
- 4:10Speaker 3: I feel like other places are known for different things.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Like Kansas City Joe's has the z Man, which is
- 4:17Speaker 3: a sandwich. It's oh okay, it's got like the onion
- 4:20Speaker 3: ring briskets, smash is good. And then Texas, I like,
- 4:23Speaker 3: just like the ribs and the sides.
- 4:25Speaker 1: What about the sauces. Are the sauces different or I mean,
- 4:29Speaker 1: cause I don't. I only know Memphis being like.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Dry, it's pretty similar.
- 4:35Speaker 3: I feel like in the sauces from Texas to case
- 4:38Speaker 3: just the yeah from there.
- 4:40Speaker 1: You have like a spot that you love going to
- 4:42Speaker 1: the the spot.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Casey's I like has a good spot. And then jack Sack.
- 4:47Speaker 3: But it's tough because my wife she doesn't really like barbecue.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Oh really yeah, sorry to the barbecue people out there.
- 4:53Speaker 2: She likes it, but She's like, not all about it.
- 4:54Speaker 2: So I don't really get it that much when.
- 4:56Speaker 1: We're not going you're not going to barbecue all the time. No, nice, Okay,
- 5:02Speaker 1: what about this, You've done the best Superman impression on
- 5:05Speaker 1: a baseball field.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I don't know that.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Hey, bro, that's that's that's horizontal.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Bro. Those are the fun place because you just react
- 5:17Speaker 2: to them. You don't have to think about it. It
- 5:19Speaker 2: just happens.
- 5:20Speaker 1: You're young and can do that. If I did that,
- 5:22Speaker 1: I feel like I would dislocate every bone in my body.
- 5:26Speaker 3: So I think my parents would always get mad at
- 5:29Speaker 3: me and a kid just diving in the house doing
- 5:30Speaker 3: other things. But I feel like really that helped me
- 5:33Speaker 3: kind of just feel like you learn how to land,
- 5:36Speaker 3: learn how to do little things and playing football like
- 5:39Speaker 3: just diving and always just tackle football in the backyard.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Whatever.
- 5:42Speaker 3: It was just trying to learn your learn your body.
- 5:44Speaker 3: And then things in the off season I do to train.
- 5:46Speaker 3: You're always kind of training those impactful muscles that whenever
- 5:50Speaker 3: you make impact with the ground like here, they're strong,
- 5:52Speaker 3: and so you enjoy it.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Why you can't? All right? So what about this last thing?
- 6:00Speaker 1: Putting on the USA uniform was the coolest thing that
- 6:06Speaker 1: you've done so far in baseball.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it was. It was special.
- 6:09Speaker 3: It was an honor just to be able to do
- 6:11Speaker 3: that and then be around you guys and just see
- 6:13Speaker 3: what it's like to be around like the stars of
- 6:16Speaker 3: the game and just how they work, how they talk
- 6:18Speaker 3: about the game and the cage and it's just I
- 6:21Speaker 3: feel like I was just I was there, but like
- 6:23Speaker 3: it was like I felt like I was a part
- 6:24Speaker 3: of it just because of how you guys treated me
- 6:27Speaker 3: and treated the other guys in there. And then this
- 6:29Speaker 3: is the biggest thing kind of I took away from it,
- 6:31Speaker 3: which just everyone just wanted to win and it's like
- 6:34Speaker 3: what what can they do to win? And it's like
- 6:38Speaker 3: very selfless guys. And then just that clubhouse, it's all
- 6:42Speaker 3: all stars, all a bunch of guys with World Series rings.
- 6:45Speaker 3: So it was really cool just to see like how
- 6:47Speaker 3: those guys work and there's a reason why that there
- 6:50Speaker 3: studs how they are.
- 6:51Speaker 1: So what is what is one moment during the WC
- 6:54Speaker 1: Because you unfortunately you watched a lot right and you
- 6:59Speaker 1: were you were the young guy X, Y and Z.
- 7:01Speaker 1: This year, obviously you'll be playing a lot playing the
- 7:04Speaker 1: whole time pretty much. But being that you got to
- 7:07Speaker 1: sit back and kind of watch really good baseball. What
- 7:11Speaker 1: what's one moment that you'll always remember.
- 7:14Speaker 3: I think just at Turner Grand Slam, oh, because I
- 7:18Speaker 3: was I was on second for that, and so it
- 7:20Speaker 3: was just like I was like I heard it hit,
- 7:22Speaker 3: and then after that, I'm like I felt like I
- 7:24Speaker 3: was just floating.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Around the bases like I didn't even hit it. I
- 7:26Speaker 2: was like running around like, oh, wow, this feels good.
- 7:29Speaker 3: I think I came into pinch run or something. But yeah,
- 7:31Speaker 3: it was that moment right there. And then uh, who
- 7:35Speaker 3: was it that did the this to the.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't remember. Yeah, there was a lot that
- 7:43Speaker 1: kind of went.
- 7:44Speaker 3: On that was creative, and then it just felt like
- 7:46Speaker 3: it was just not like a Little league moment, but
- 7:49Speaker 3: like everyone is out of the dugout all surrounding home.
- 7:51Speaker 3: It was like a walk off, but it were in
- 7:52Speaker 3: whatever ending it was, so it was it was that was.
- 7:56Speaker 1: That was good stuff.
- 7:56Speaker 2: That was really fun.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I think I think everybody will remember that. Uh, you know,
- 8:00Speaker 1: for sure, my I would say mine is deaf for
- 8:03Speaker 1: the homer. But then really I remember in the eighth
- 8:06Speaker 1: inning in the championship game and I saw show Hay
- 8:09Speaker 1: out in the in the bullpen, and I really it
- 8:13Speaker 1: was just that whole moment, just like him coming out
- 8:16Speaker 1: and then who he went through and kind of how
- 8:18Speaker 1: it ended. It was like, man, something that I think
- 8:23Speaker 1: at the time I kind of took for granted, like ah,
- 8:25Speaker 1: dang me lost, But like, looking back on this, like
- 8:27Speaker 1: that was probably one of the coolest set up moments
- 8:30Speaker 1: that you know, God has ever created, like for it
- 8:33Speaker 1: to come down to that, so.
- 8:34Speaker 3: It's like a truly like a movie. And then him
- 8:36Speaker 3: coming out there with the dirt on the uniform like
- 8:38Speaker 3: it was.
- 8:39Speaker 2: I was like, Wow, this is cool.
- 8:40Speaker 1: It's cool.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Everyone was on the top step.
- 8:42Speaker 1: All right, So switch gears a little bit. Let's talk
- 8:45Speaker 1: about you guys. The Royals. Uh, you guys may playoffs
- 8:49Speaker 1: last year for the first time since twenty fifteen. How
- 8:53Speaker 1: was that, Like, how was going through the process? I know,
- 8:56Speaker 1: like I said, I was in the al played against
- 8:58Speaker 1: the Royals, and you're going through your rebuilding years, especially
- 9:02Speaker 1: after Hawes and Moose and all those guys left you.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Salvi y'all brought us, brought you guys back to playoffs.
- 9:10Speaker 1: So how was that going through the process? Of the fun.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it was.
- 9:13Speaker 3: It was unbelievable just because of like the year the
- 9:17Speaker 3: two years before we went through lost over one hundred games,
- 9:19Speaker 3: and it was like, all right, what do we need
- 9:22Speaker 3: to do to take that next step? And you could
- 9:23Speaker 3: kind of see it at the end of twenty twenty
- 9:25Speaker 3: three that I was like, all right, we swept Houston. Houston,
- 9:29Speaker 3: like all right, we're starting to play a little ball here,
- 9:31Speaker 3: and then we go out next year sign some pitching
- 9:33Speaker 3: and stuff. We're like all right, and there's just we
- 9:35Speaker 3: get guys that get some veteran guys that come to
- 9:38Speaker 3: the clubhouse and it's like, all right, we show up
- 9:40Speaker 3: in spring, it's like, all right, we're winning this year.
- 9:42Speaker 3: And it's like instead of like all right, we're in
- 9:43Speaker 3: this rebuild, it's like, no, we're doing it now and
- 9:45Speaker 3: we're gonna We're gonna do it. And just I think
- 9:47Speaker 3: that was kind of our mantra from spring training is
- 9:49Speaker 3: with like in our division, it's pretty tough, everyone's pretty
- 9:53Speaker 3: equally matched, and so it's just like, all right, what
- 9:55Speaker 3: can we do to just get in and who knows
- 9:57Speaker 3: what happens once we kind of get in and stuff.
- 9:59Speaker 3: So it's just one of those things where we were
- 10:00Speaker 3: always just playing day by day, one day at a time.
- 10:03Speaker 3: That's kind of our manager's mantra, and our mantra is
- 10:05Speaker 3: just kind of yesterday's in the past, Tomorrow's kind of
- 10:09Speaker 3: a mystery. It's alright, focus on right now and right
- 10:12Speaker 3: here because that's where we are. And so that's kind
- 10:14Speaker 3: of how we went about it. And it was just
- 10:16Speaker 3: great just to see all the guys that kind of
- 10:18Speaker 3: made everyone reach their full kind of potential in a sense.
- 10:21Speaker 3: And so it was great just with our pitching staff,
- 10:23Speaker 3: our bullpen, and just how the team really just kind
- 10:25Speaker 3: of like it was always just never really had peaks
- 10:28Speaker 3: and valleys. It was always just gradually getting better and better.
- 10:31Speaker 3: And I think that was huge for us.
- 10:33Speaker 1: And you know, I remember in fifteen the team was
- 10:37Speaker 1: obviously really good. I think that was the year, like
- 10:39Speaker 1: the whole team was trying to make the all starts.
- 10:41Speaker 1: And so I remember coming to Kansas City and there's
- 10:45Speaker 1: a lot of fans, like it was packed in there,
- 10:47Speaker 1: and so I can like, how was that atmosphere, you know,
- 10:50Speaker 1: because for the first time in a while, I'm sure
- 10:52Speaker 1: everybody showed up for it.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it was just even like towards the back end
- 10:57Speaker 3: of the last year and then getting into the playoffs
- 10:59Speaker 3: and just the crowd. Everyone's talk about, like because I've
- 11:00Speaker 3: been a couple of Chiefs games and it's like it
- 11:02Speaker 3: gets loud on Arrowhead, especially in the playoffs and everything,
- 11:05Speaker 3: and they're like, just wait.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Till it gets back to Kaufman because it's the roar.
- 11:09Speaker 3: The it was crazy, and then it was just just
- 11:12Speaker 3: from pitch one that it was like, there's no like
- 11:14Speaker 3: it was always kind of this. You've been around playoff
- 11:17Speaker 3: games and atmospheres, just the stadium kind of shakes when
- 11:19Speaker 3: something crazy happens and it's playing the Yankee, so it's
- 11:22Speaker 3: really it was really cool just to do that, and
- 11:24Speaker 3: even like going on the road and playing the playoffs,
- 11:26Speaker 3: those atmospheres are great because it's like everyone against you.
- 11:29Speaker 3: I feel like I love that and it's it's fun
- 11:31Speaker 3: whenever things like that start to kind of happen.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Were you nervous during and not necessarily nervous like you know,
- 11:37Speaker 1: but anxious, nervous whatever it is, you know? For the
- 11:40Speaker 1: for the playoff series.
- 11:41Speaker 3: I feel like it's more like the days leading up
- 11:44Speaker 3: to it that I'm always like, even like opening day, I'm.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Like, all right, let's go like waiting, and then that
- 11:47Speaker 2: first pitch.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Happens and everything kind of settles in. It's like it's
- 11:50Speaker 3: the same game been playing since I was little, just
- 11:52Speaker 3: now bigger stage, brighter lights. But now it's just I
- 11:56Speaker 3: feel like once the game starts, I'm like just in
- 11:58Speaker 3: my in my happy zone, there's always that those jitters,
- 12:00Speaker 3: those well you gotta you gotta have that, and so
- 12:02Speaker 3: that's that's what makes it fun. But yeah, definitely, I
- 12:05Speaker 3: feel like the times leading up to it, because I
- 12:07Speaker 3: feel like you have a couple more off days, I
- 12:09Speaker 3: think in the playoffs or whatever it is, and so like,
- 12:11Speaker 3: wh we're in New York.
- 12:11Speaker 2: It's like, all right, we're waiting. We're waiting.
- 12:13Speaker 3: Season ends, you got an off day, you're waiting waiting.
- 12:15Speaker 3: It's like that was the time I was like, all right,
- 12:17Speaker 3: I'm maybe a little anxious now.
- 12:19Speaker 1: That's that's yeah, because the waiting part is easier for
- 12:25Speaker 1: me because it's like, all right, you know whatever, But
- 12:27Speaker 1: like when it gets there on the game day, and
- 12:29Speaker 1: maybe it's I don't know what it is, but sometimes
- 12:31Speaker 1: I just get like this anxiety, like all right, come on,
- 12:34Speaker 1: I gotta we gotta go. We got And maybe it's
- 12:37Speaker 1: because the the it matters now, not that it didn't
- 12:40Speaker 1: matter before, but like there's an end. There's an end
- 12:43Speaker 1: to it now. Like us during the season, you'll, uh,
- 12:46Speaker 1: you know, you got tomorrow, you got tomorrow, you got tomorrow,
- 12:48Speaker 1: you got tomorrow. And I had to kind of learn,
- 12:50Speaker 1: you know, going through playoffs, like yeah, you don't have tomorrow,
- 12:54Speaker 1: but you have to treat it like you have tomorrow,
- 12:56Speaker 1: you know. And so that was like a learned behavior
- 12:58Speaker 1: for me. And fortunately, you know, I've been blessed to
- 13:01Speaker 1: be in playoffs a lot, so it took me a
- 13:03Speaker 1: little time to learn it. But you know, obviously you
- 13:07Speaker 1: played great, you handle it really well, and obviously through
- 13:12Speaker 1: that's just the playoffs. I want to go back before that,
- 13:15Speaker 1: the season you had, which was crazy. I think it's
- 13:18Speaker 1: one of the best seasons in shortstop or history. But
- 13:23Speaker 1: unfortunately you didn't win MVP with Judge. You know that
- 13:26Speaker 1: what he did was ridiculous, you know what I'm saying,
- 13:29Speaker 1: how Like I had that same kind of the same
- 13:31Speaker 1: situation with a Kunya. But you know, it kind of
- 13:33Speaker 1: sucks because it's like you did all you could do
- 13:36Speaker 1: and somebody just did better. You know how was that?
- 13:39Speaker 3: Yeaht that point you just kind of tip your cash.
- 13:41Speaker 3: It's like, man, this is incredible. Just just you're watching
- 13:44Speaker 3: history too over there, just what he he's done and
- 13:47Speaker 3: what he's doing each and every year, this year, last year,
- 13:49Speaker 3: year's been pasted. So it's really it's fun to watch
- 13:51Speaker 3: and just see and it kind of it always motivates
- 13:53Speaker 3: you because you're like, all right, what can you do
- 13:55Speaker 3: to try to get to that level?
- 13:56Speaker 2: What do you need to do?
- 13:57Speaker 3: And it's just I feel like with him, it's just
- 13:58Speaker 3: how consistent he is each and every day.
- 14:00Speaker 2: It's like, but it's you two.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Yeah, it's YouTube. I mean you hit let me see
- 14:04Speaker 1: you hit three thirty, won a goal glove, won a
- 14:07Speaker 1: Silver Slugger, and then that's your second season of thirty thirty.
- 14:12Speaker 1: So when you get on base, you just I'm running.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I don't really care who's pitching, who's catching. Yeah, and
- 14:18Speaker 1: for the.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Most part, I'm running for the most part.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Yeah, But I feel like I've been trying to get
- 14:22Speaker 3: like kind of tips and cues from like what do
- 14:24Speaker 3: I need to do from the pitcher or what the
- 14:26Speaker 3: catcher does or this and that whit Maryfield was really
- 14:28Speaker 3: good at that, and he kind of helped me my
- 14:30Speaker 3: first first year with as like all right, if it's whatever,
- 14:33Speaker 3: back shoulder, this guy toe up, whatever it is. And
- 14:35Speaker 3: so cause it's like two years ago, I was like
- 14:39Speaker 3: I got thrown out. I think I led the league
- 14:41Speaker 3: or maybe led the lead the past two seasons to
- 14:43Speaker 3: get thrown out.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Whatever.
- 14:44Speaker 3: I think I sole forty nine bases two years ago,
- 14:46Speaker 3: it's like one away from fifty. I was trying hard
- 14:48Speaker 3: that year, but it was just like, all right, why
- 14:51Speaker 3: I'm the so called fastest kind of league?
- 14:53Speaker 2: Why am I getting thrown out?
- 14:54Speaker 3: And so then it's like all right, I go in
- 14:56Speaker 3: the off season, like what do I need to do
- 14:57Speaker 3: to get my jumps better? What I need to do
- 14:59Speaker 3: to just study p more and just add that into
- 15:01Speaker 3: my routine. It's just which I feel like it's been
- 15:03Speaker 3: better now, just the success rate and everything. And so
- 15:06Speaker 3: that was something too that was cool to kind of
- 15:08Speaker 3: learn about.
- 15:08Speaker 2: It's like you got your.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Your infield routine, you got your hitting routine and everything.
- 15:12Speaker 3: It's like, you know, maybe never thought I needed it,
- 15:14Speaker 3: like a little base running routine just to get in
- 15:16Speaker 3: talk to our base running coach, all right, what do
- 15:18Speaker 3: we got today and then all right, all right, take
- 15:21Speaker 3: five ten minutes and then.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Boom, it's all. It's all. I feel like all aspects
- 15:25Speaker 1: of the game are somewhat of trained behaviors, and so
- 15:29Speaker 1: if you don't train the behaviors, I'm not saying you'll
- 15:33Speaker 1: lose them, but they won't be there when you need it,
- 15:35Speaker 1: no doubt. And so that's probably one thing that, like
- 15:37Speaker 1: you said, is once you started training your behaviors and
- 15:40Speaker 1: training your mind to run for those cues, it probably
- 15:44Speaker 1: got easier and easier and easy. Just like when you
- 15:46Speaker 1: train hitting, tell me about hitting, like what not that
- 15:49Speaker 1: you never hit before? But like, what what has changed
- 15:52Speaker 1: to where like now you can just hit three thirty
- 15:54Speaker 1: all the time? You know what I'm saying.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it was more so just sect the preparation,
- 15:58Speaker 3: the training and everything is just like I want to
- 16:01Speaker 3: do things in the cage. Yeah, I want to get
- 16:03Speaker 3: make sure my swing's right, but I also want to
- 16:05Speaker 3: do things in the cage where it's harder than the
- 16:07Speaker 3: game to win. When I get into the game, it's like,
- 16:08Speaker 3: all right, it's a game.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Maybe it's like the fastballs, yeah, way too fast.
- 16:15Speaker 3: And the curve balls are weighing at whatever it is,
- 16:17Speaker 3: and so it's just making those just because this game
- 16:19Speaker 3: is so hard, it's just how can you make it
- 16:21Speaker 3: easier in a sense, And so I feel like for me,
- 16:23Speaker 3: it's just being able to get into a good routine
- 16:25Speaker 3: with that and just figuring out what type of pictures.
- 16:27Speaker 3: If it's sinker ball, then do nasty sinkers. If it's
- 16:29Speaker 3: a vert guy, dude, whatever it is, but now all
- 16:32Speaker 3: pictures are something in the three fastballs. So it's now
- 16:34Speaker 3: it's like trying to pick and shoes.
- 16:35Speaker 2: What I'm like, what am I going to pick and choose?
- 16:37Speaker 3: What am I going to do with that? And so like, yeah,
- 16:39Speaker 3: just kind of training to where it makes the game
- 16:42Speaker 3: a little bit easier. I think that was a big
- 16:44Speaker 3: thing for me.
- 16:45Speaker 1: And that's what do you do that in the off
- 16:46Speaker 1: season or just during the season?
- 16:47Speaker 2: Yeah, both, I would say both.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Kind of off season more so just kind of like
- 16:51Speaker 3: how consistent can I get off this pitch or whatever
- 16:54Speaker 3: it is one day or the other. And then in
- 16:56Speaker 3: season it's like, all right, kind of maintain focus on
- 16:59Speaker 3: the guy that's on the map on that day.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Let's switch gears a little bit. But before we do.
- 17:04Speaker 1: It's time to bring relief and get more baseball. Get
- 17:07Speaker 1: more with Geico. Let's take a look at some of
- 17:10Speaker 1: the wildest moments caught on camera at the ballpark and
- 17:13Speaker 1: give fans relief from stress of a big game. So
- 17:17Speaker 1: we had to look up here this is a Dylan Dingler.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Oh wow, what can we.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Show that again?
- 17:30Speaker 1: See? Like weird stuff like that, I mean you can.
- 17:33Speaker 1: There's nothing you can do about it, you know. And
- 17:35Speaker 1: as the hitter, it's like, ooh, you thought you were
- 17:38Speaker 1: gonna get another chance, right.
- 17:39Speaker 3: So he's supposed to be made it. Then it's like, oh,
- 17:41Speaker 3: it doesn't. It's like that little false.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Yes that you feel like, oh, I got another chance
- 17:46Speaker 1: and then he catches it. That's one. Let's look at
- 17:49Speaker 1: this one. See that's how you know, you demand you
- 17:53Speaker 1: got a seat installed into the dugout and you know, uh,
- 18:01Speaker 1: he's he's probably one of the coolest dudes I've I've met,
- 18:05Speaker 1: you know, and like as far as managers and just
- 18:07Speaker 1: people around the game, Yeah, I've heard, you know, he's
- 18:10Speaker 1: have you met have you ever met and talked to
- 18:12Speaker 1: Terry Franken pretty sure? Yeah.
- 18:14Speaker 3: During when he was kind of doing his stuff with
- 18:16Speaker 3: Cleveland just a couple of years ago. But talk to
- 18:20Speaker 3: him a little bit, like before a game whatever it was,
- 18:22Speaker 3: VP got to meet him and everything and so.
- 18:24Speaker 2: But yeah, just he had the seat too. I think
- 18:26Speaker 2: in Cleveland.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Did you have y'all been to Cincy last year? We went, Yeah,
- 18:31Speaker 1: well did he have?
- 18:32Speaker 2: Did? He wasn't there last year?
- 18:34Speaker 1: I guess this is the first.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Yeah, but yeah, that's crazy, that's.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Cool, all right, So let's switch gears a little bit again.
- 18:40Speaker 1: The Royals have a really big fan base obviously, but
- 18:47Speaker 1: there's a lot of celebrities as well. Jason Sudacus, Paul
- 18:52Speaker 1: Rudd have been involved in the team a lot. Do
- 18:54Speaker 1: you get to see these guys and talk to them?
- 18:56Speaker 3: Yeah, actually a bunch of them. They do this thing
- 18:57Speaker 3: called Big Slick and they all came out. It's like
- 19:00Speaker 3: a charity event. But they do like a little softball
- 19:03Speaker 3: game before our game at the stadium, and then they
- 19:05Speaker 3: the next night they do like a big event I
- 19:08Speaker 3: think at that T Mobile Center over there, and so,
- 19:11Speaker 3: but yeah, it was really cool just seeing those guys
- 19:13Speaker 3: come in like uh, Ted Lasso.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, he's one of the big fans.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Rob Regul, like you're saying Jason Sadakas all those guys.
- 19:21Speaker 3: It's just it's just really cool because you see him
- 19:23Speaker 3: on TV and then they come in the clubhouse or
- 19:26Speaker 3: whatever or on movies and they're like, man, a big
- 19:28Speaker 3: fan of and then they're like, oh, I'm nervous, that's
- 19:32Speaker 3: what they're talking about.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Like they're being nervous. I'm like, you're being nervous.
- 19:35Speaker 3: You're on TV, you're in Hollywood whatever, first, you're living
- 19:38Speaker 3: and stuff. So it's really cool just to see in
- 19:40Speaker 3: this all the people from Kansas City. Really, it's really
- 19:44Speaker 3: it's crazy, just like looking at it and you see
- 19:46Speaker 3: all these celebrities that are out there playing in that
- 19:48Speaker 3: game and you're like, wow, from Kansas City, have Kansas
- 19:51Speaker 3: City ties?
- 19:51Speaker 2: Whatever it is, So it's really cool.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Just so do you get to talk to these are
- 19:57Speaker 1: I mean, maybe not necessarily talk to him, but like
- 19:59Speaker 1: hang out with him, going to or have you become
- 20:02Speaker 1: friends with him or it's just too.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Busy, Yeah, kind of more so just like get to
- 20:06Speaker 3: talk to him during that time, and then you feel
- 20:08Speaker 3: like I'm starting to build relationships with them. I haven't
- 20:10Speaker 3: really been here too too long yet, but just kind
- 20:13Speaker 3: of like yeah, just building those relationships, kind of creating
- 20:16Speaker 3: those ties. And like Eric stone Street, he's in modern family.
- 20:19Speaker 2: I don't know if you know what I mean. Been
- 20:20Speaker 2: kind of getting closer with him.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Here because he comes over to our side and I
- 20:24Speaker 1: think he knows, Yeah.
- 20:25Speaker 2: He live, he lives out here now, so from here.
- 20:27Speaker 3: So it's cool just to kind of talk to those
- 20:29Speaker 3: guys and meet those guys and.
- 20:31Speaker 1: They it's weird, like you said, because they're so famous, right,
- 20:35Speaker 1: and arguably more famous than we are, and for them
- 20:40Speaker 1: to come in and especially in La you see, you know,
- 20:42Speaker 1: so many people come to games and like you said,
- 20:45Speaker 1: they come and say they're fans of ours, Like, what
- 20:47Speaker 1: do you mean, I'm not doing anything. I'm just you know,
- 20:50Speaker 1: I'm a big fan of yours. So at least lets
- 20:53Speaker 1: you know you're doing something.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it's really cool.
- 20:55Speaker 1: So I want to go back to to you talk
- 21:00Speaker 1: a little bit about you. When you were a kid
- 21:04Speaker 1: from Texas and as you grew up, did you play
- 21:07Speaker 1: all sports?
- 21:08Speaker 2: Yeah, our football, basketball, baseball.
- 21:12Speaker 1: And you did those through high school.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Football, baseball, and high school until my sophomore year and
- 21:17Speaker 2: then it was just straight straight baseball.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Why did you stop?
- 21:20Speaker 2: Just for me?
- 21:21Speaker 3: It's just Texas kind of year round sport, and so
- 21:24Speaker 3: it's just like you had their summer work or football.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Yeah, football, Football's.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Kind of they take it take it very seriously out
- 21:30Speaker 3: there and uh, and so it's just kind of like
- 21:33Speaker 3: in the fall, like there was these USA events that
- 21:36Speaker 3: I was maybe being able to do, and so it's
- 21:38Speaker 3: just like if I'm playing football, I'm not gonna be
- 21:40Speaker 3: able to do that.
- 21:41Speaker 2: And then too, I wanted to break.
- 21:43Speaker 3: But also it's like in middle school, like honestly, football
- 21:45Speaker 3: is like my number one sport, like coming out.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Like football, baseball, Like I love football, play wide receiver,
- 21:51Speaker 2: play corner.
- 21:51Speaker 3: And then get to high school and like freshman on
- 21:54Speaker 3: JV pretty good and whatever and so playing playing both
- 21:58Speaker 3: ways and stuff. And so then after that year, which
- 22:00Speaker 3: is kind of like all right now, I really kind
- 22:02Speaker 3: of commit to baseball because my going in my freshman
- 22:05Speaker 3: year high school, I committed Oklahoma to.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Have to play base for baseball. Baseball.
- 22:10Speaker 1: I thought you said your best sport.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Was it was like baseball, Like I always I saw
- 22:15Speaker 3: the end goal for baseball, but football was like a
- 22:17Speaker 3: I don't really really know, but my my goal and
- 22:20Speaker 3: dream was like Kyler Murray was there at the time,
- 22:22Speaker 3: like do both do all those things? And so yeah,
- 22:25Speaker 3: So then committed baseball at that point, and then after
- 22:28Speaker 3: that year, it was just kind of like all right,
- 22:30Speaker 3: locked fully you know baseball.
- 22:31Speaker 1: So did your folks make you stop or you decided to.
- 22:35Speaker 3: It's funny because like my mom kind of wanted me
- 22:39Speaker 3: to stop playing football, but my dad was like, you
- 22:42Speaker 3: keep playing it because I was pretty good at it
- 22:44Speaker 3: and everything. It's just a sport. Just I hated I
- 22:46Speaker 3: didn't want to ever quit something. And so just that
- 22:49Speaker 3: feeling of like I was almost like, all.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Right, I retired from football and high school.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Yeah, but yeah, and I just felt I just like
- 22:56Speaker 3: it was like almost felt bad for just not like
- 22:59Speaker 3: I was so hard for me to go up to
- 23:00Speaker 3: the coach saying like I can't play, because he'd always
- 23:03Speaker 3: come up to me like later on in high school,
- 23:04Speaker 3: but like, hey, you want to come out and punt,
- 23:06Speaker 3: So I just yeah, just come out and do this
- 23:08Speaker 3: you want to do. And I'm like, if I'm coming
- 23:10Speaker 3: out there punting or whatever, doing anything, I'm gonna I'm
- 23:12Speaker 3: gonna be out there playing. And a lot of my
- 23:14Speaker 3: buddies played and stuff, and so it was hard. It
- 23:16Speaker 3: was hard watching like those Friday night lights.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Yeah in Texas. Would you still go to the games?
- 23:21Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 23:21Speaker 3: I still go to the games, be there cheering, cheering,
- 23:24Speaker 3: all them on buddies and that was that was the
- 23:26Speaker 3: hardest part. And just watch them be like, man, I
- 23:28Speaker 3: want to be out there helping, like because I feel
- 23:30Speaker 3: like I could, but I'm just out here just hanging out.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that was I remember I had a very similar situation.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I just kept playing basketball. But I remember I wanted
- 23:39Speaker 1: to play football play football in middle school and I'm like,
- 23:42Speaker 1: you know what, I thought I was pretty good, you know,
- 23:44Speaker 1: relative to the kids around. You know, football in Tennessee
- 23:47Speaker 1: is definitely not like Texas. And so I'm like, man,
- 23:51Speaker 1: I'm gonna keep playing. And I remember going to my
- 23:53Speaker 1: freshman year. I was like, my you know, I'm gonna
- 23:57Speaker 1: go play football or whatever, keep playing all them. I'm
- 23:59Speaker 1: playing all sports. And she was like, nah, you can't
- 24:01Speaker 1: play football. I'm like, ma, what you mean I can't
- 24:03Speaker 1: play football. I gonna play football. She was like, if
- 24:06Speaker 1: you go out and play football, you cannot come home.
- 24:12Speaker 1: And I remember I was like, well, shoot, I'm just
- 24:15Speaker 1: because my parents weren't together at the time, and so
- 24:17Speaker 1: I remember coming home and packing a bag to go
- 24:20Speaker 1: stay at my dad's house and it ended up not
- 24:23Speaker 1: working out. I had had to stay. But yeah, to
- 24:27Speaker 1: your point, I remember going to Friday night lights, and
- 24:29Speaker 1: I had different reasons. So I was the water boy,
- 24:33Speaker 1: the ball boy, and my wife now was my girlfriend
- 24:36Speaker 1: at the time, she was a cheerleader. So that was
- 24:39Speaker 1: my I killed all the birds of one son I
- 24:41Speaker 1: was going. I didn't miss any football games. We were
- 24:42Speaker 1: always together, and I remember like doing whatever I could
- 24:46Speaker 1: to help, you know, throwing with the quarterbacks and all
- 24:48Speaker 1: those type of things. And so I'm surprised you didn't
- 24:51Speaker 1: do any of that. It was it would hurt you
- 24:53Speaker 1: too much.
- 24:53Speaker 3: It was too hard I felt on the field, I'm like,
- 24:56Speaker 3: I might as well put a home in pads on it.
- 24:58Speaker 1: So, so do you remember getting hit at all, like
- 25:02Speaker 1: a memorable hit.
- 25:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember it was I think it was sixth grade.
- 25:07Speaker 3: And so we do like our little tournament thing we
- 25:09Speaker 3: do when we go to the Cowboys stadium and play,
- 25:12Speaker 3: so they have a bunch of games going on. It's
- 25:13Speaker 3: like half field, and so I just remember I'm playing
- 25:16Speaker 3: defensive guys running at me and just runs me right
- 25:18Speaker 3: over and I'm like, all right.
- 25:21Speaker 1: That did that motivate you? Or did that? Were you like?
- 25:25Speaker 3: Nah, I'm out of I think for me, it was
- 25:27Speaker 3: just kind of like I thought it was gonna hurt
- 25:30Speaker 3: a lot more like I got hit and I get up,
- 25:32Speaker 3: I'm like, oh.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Wow, this is cool, like I just got my bell rung,
- 25:36Speaker 2: but like I'm back up and ready to go next play.
- 25:39Speaker 1: I remember one hit I was let's see, I played
- 25:42Speaker 1: from eight to twelve. I stopped it. I'm sorry, eight
- 25:46Speaker 1: to thirteen, and I was about I think I was
- 25:48Speaker 1: about twelve, and this is the year I stopped playing defense.
- 25:53Speaker 1: And I remember somebody came up and I was playing
- 25:56Speaker 1: safety and somebody came up and a blocker lineman. They
- 26:02Speaker 1: made a downfield or whatever and destroyed me. And I said,
- 26:06Speaker 1: I will never play another down defense. Ever. I'm not
- 26:09Speaker 1: hitting nobody.
- 26:10Speaker 3: I think if honestly, in high school when I was playing,
- 26:12Speaker 3: I would do both. If I didn't play defense, I
- 26:14Speaker 3: feel like I would have played football kind of. I
- 26:16Speaker 3: just didn't really like I didn't like hitting people, like yeah,
- 26:19Speaker 3: I don't want to feel like take the blow. But
- 26:20Speaker 3: when I'm got the ball, I'm trying to score it.
- 26:22Speaker 3: I feel like that was my thing.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Right, So obviously are balling out in baseball, and when
- 26:29Speaker 1: did you start realizing that? I mean, you always knew
- 26:33Speaker 1: you were good, but when did you realize, like, dang,
- 26:35Speaker 1: I may maybe can get drafted or whatever it is.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that the commitment just committed to open
- 26:41Speaker 2: right then it.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Was that was your freshman year. Yeah, you knew you
- 26:45Speaker 1: were just drafted after your freshman year.
- 26:47Speaker 3: I didn't know I was going to but like at
- 26:49Speaker 3: that point, it's like, all right, I wanted to commit
- 26:51Speaker 3: early just because of I don't think now they can
- 26:53Speaker 3: commit early. There's like a time where you have to
- 26:55Speaker 3: wait till your sophomore, junior, y or whatever it is,
- 26:57Speaker 3: just so now I don't have to worry.
- 26:58Speaker 2: About the recruiting process. Now it's like, oh, you didn't
- 27:01Speaker 2: like the recruitment.
- 27:01Speaker 3: Not necessarily I didn't, not like yeah, but I just
- 27:03Speaker 3: was like, all right, the next step for me is
- 27:06Speaker 3: professional baseball. And that's like, all right, I got the
- 27:09Speaker 3: college taken away, squared away, like I got a backup
- 27:12Speaker 3: plan in sense, and so at that point it's like
- 27:15Speaker 3: all right, now it's time to kind of get to
- 27:17Speaker 3: work and this baseball thing, and then those the rankings
- 27:20Speaker 3: and everything come out and the number one player, and
- 27:22Speaker 3: it's like, all right, all that stuff's on paper, But
- 27:24Speaker 3: until I actually go out there and do something then
- 27:27Speaker 3: kind of I've always said that just with like how
- 27:29Speaker 3: the writers they write these whatever rankings and things like that,
- 27:32Speaker 3: and rated number one player, it's like, all right, I
- 27:34Speaker 3: can either sit on that and like all right, whatever,
- 27:38Speaker 3: or kind of motivate me to stay at that ranking
- 27:41Speaker 3: and then get to that next level, which is get drafted.
- 27:43Speaker 2: And so that's kind of.
- 27:44Speaker 3: What really it drove me, just because of like there's
- 27:48Speaker 3: kids out there from California, Florida, wherever.
- 27:50Speaker 2: It is that or I know that that's what my
- 27:52Speaker 2: dad always say.
- 27:52Speaker 3: They're always working harder, They're always working harder. So it
- 27:54Speaker 3: always kind of pushed me inside that point. It's like,
- 27:56Speaker 3: all right, I'm gonna kind of I want to make
- 27:58Speaker 3: this my job and.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Have him Pop he played fifteen sixteen years, teen years.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Having him through the process, did it make it easier
- 28:07Speaker 1: or harder or whatever, because sometimes, you know, I'm thinking
- 28:11Speaker 1: about it now just off the top of my head,
- 28:13Speaker 1: like with Pops being there, you're essentially coming home and
- 28:18Speaker 1: not that it never turns off, but like there's not
- 28:21Speaker 1: because he's there playing baseball or thinking about baseball agent
- 28:25Speaker 1: doing all this with baseball, Like did you ever have
- 28:27Speaker 1: a getaway or you know what was?
- 28:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that was just with the other sports
- 28:31Speaker 3: kind of growing up and everything get older too. Yeah,
- 28:33Speaker 3: I just like whether it was like in the offseason
- 28:36Speaker 3: or whatever it was, I was always kind of whether
- 28:38Speaker 3: it's training wise, I kind of got away from baseball
- 28:40Speaker 3: in sense, and so it was just it was good
- 28:42Speaker 3: to do that. But also it's like I knew that
- 28:45Speaker 3: this is what I want to do, so I want
- 28:47Speaker 3: to kind of try to kind of play my cards
- 28:49Speaker 3: and push them on one basket.
- 28:50Speaker 1: And even though you get away from it, you can't
- 28:52Speaker 1: really get too far away, you know that.
- 28:53Speaker 3: And then because with my dad, we're always baseball is
- 28:56Speaker 3: always on, We're always talking. We were always talking about it,
- 28:58Speaker 3: like always watching game when the playoffs came on, whatever
- 29:01Speaker 3: it was, and so and then everyone lasts I call
- 29:05Speaker 3: my little cheat sheet my dad, and so he was
- 29:07Speaker 3: always brought that up in many interviews and articles or
- 29:11Speaker 3: whatever it is. But yeah, so it's just something that
- 29:14Speaker 3: like I always it wasn't like the the physical errors
- 29:17Speaker 3: that you get upset, but it was like the mental errors.
- 29:19Speaker 3: It's like, all right, this is what you could do.
- 29:20Speaker 3: And we would always talk about it. There was times
- 29:22Speaker 3: where long drives home getting on to me, like he
- 29:26Speaker 3: was always he pushed me to be the best. And
- 29:28Speaker 3: then my mom was there just kind of like she
- 29:30Speaker 3: would even.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Push me too, because she's really she just sports. She
- 29:34Speaker 2: swam in high school.
- 29:35Speaker 3: I think, yeah, so she did that, did a little
- 29:37Speaker 3: bit of swimming and everything. So I give her that,
- 29:39Speaker 3: give a little athletic ability from her.
- 29:41Speaker 1: So she she's the I'm assuming you swim as well.
- 29:45Speaker 2: I just not like swimming the pool.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Okay, so she taught you how to swim.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Yes, all my sisters and everything.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Did you ever ask her about swimming?
- 29:52Speaker 2: Not really. It wasn't like a huge thing, but that's
- 29:54Speaker 2: what she says, her her thing was.
- 29:56Speaker 1: And so she was a good swimmer. I mean, it's
- 29:57Speaker 1: the Olympic sports, so yeah, it's something. So and then
- 30:01Speaker 1: you go and obviously, like obviously, like you said, you're
- 30:05Speaker 1: the top of and everything, and then you go and
- 30:08Speaker 1: get drafted. You got drafted number two, who was number one,
- 30:11Speaker 1: Adley Rushman. Oh, that's right, that was okay, and you
- 30:14Speaker 1: go get drafted number two and then you hit the minors. Right,
- 30:19Speaker 1: I'm assuming this is your first time kind of being alone.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Pops is there, but he's not there at the same time.
- 30:25Speaker 1: So how was that being away from you know, kind
- 30:29Speaker 1: of like your your safety net, which is your folks.
- 30:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I think just from the kind of the high
- 30:35Speaker 3: school summer showcase stuff that that helped me in way too,
- 30:39Speaker 3: because we went to Forsa, went to Panama. They were
- 30:42Speaker 3: my parents were there, but they were kind of there
- 30:44Speaker 3: from Afar, and then just always traveling. I think my
- 30:47Speaker 3: going into my senior year of high school, so like
- 30:49Speaker 3: after my junior year summer I was at home for
- 30:52Speaker 3: I think it was like maybe two weeks or maybe
- 30:55Speaker 3: less than that the whole summer, and so like just
- 30:57Speaker 3: that kind of helped me get away from home. And
- 31:00Speaker 3: so whenever it was like all right, going out to Arizona,
- 31:03Speaker 3: going to rookie ball, whatever, it's kind of like all right,
- 31:05Speaker 3: just going out traveling again like summertime, and I could
- 31:09Speaker 3: say it was just part of it, Like I'm I
- 31:10Speaker 3: felt like I was always on the road playing baseball.
- 31:12Speaker 3: Even in high school. We had trips where we would
- 31:14Speaker 3: take a bus two and a half hours, stay in
- 31:16Speaker 3: a hotel, play and whatever it was.
- 31:18Speaker 2: And so that's Texas forty.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Yeah, the bus two and a half hours to play
- 31:22Speaker 1: baseball at Nashville that didn't exist. Yeah, so you did
- 31:25Speaker 1: all this and then you got drapped. Like I said,
- 31:27Speaker 1: you got drafted in nineteen going to my so and
- 31:30Speaker 1: you're twenty twenty, which is COVID. How much did you
- 31:33Speaker 1: get to play?
- 31:34Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 31:34Speaker 3: So actually I was fortunate enough to get invited to
- 31:38Speaker 3: like the alternate site and everything.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Actually right when.
- 31:41Speaker 3: This hotel opened, we were staying here, and so we
- 31:44Speaker 3: stayed here pretty much that whole summer and was able
- 31:46Speaker 3: to kind of get I think got like over three
- 31:48Speaker 3: hundred four underd at bats just with facing our high prospects,
- 31:52Speaker 3: certain guys that were kind of going up and down
- 31:53Speaker 3: during the COVID year and stuff. So we're out here
- 31:55Speaker 3: at a indie indie ball stadium, probably about twenty minutes away,
- 32:00Speaker 3: and so just we're getting at bats, we're game planning
- 32:02Speaker 3: against the pitchers, we're doing everything to make it like
- 32:04Speaker 3: in season. So I kind of it helped me because
- 32:06Speaker 3: I think I was supposed to go to Lowe that
- 32:08Speaker 3: year and then pretty.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Much did that did well out here and.
- 32:12Speaker 3: Like all the all of our hitters, there's probably ten
- 32:14Speaker 3: hitters out here or so, and so we're just always
- 32:17Speaker 3: doing sim games or whatever it was, each and every day,
- 32:19Speaker 3: and so we're facing good arms. And so I feel
- 32:22Speaker 3: like I benefited from COVID. I wish everyone was able
- 32:24Speaker 3: to kind of go out there. And then at the
- 32:26Speaker 3: end of kind of like the season, we had like
- 32:28Speaker 3: a little COVID COVID like league thing that we had
- 32:32Speaker 3: at Kaufman, and so they brought pretty much all like
- 32:35Speaker 3: the minor league guys, prospect guys, like eighty maybe sixty.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Guys or so.
- 32:40Speaker 3: I had two teams and we played like a best
- 32:42Speaker 3: of seven series, and so it was pretty fun to
- 32:44Speaker 3: end a year with that.
- 32:45Speaker 2: And then the next year ended up going to Double A.
- 32:47Speaker 3: So yeah, it was I ended up kind of I
- 32:49Speaker 3: feel like benefiting from the COVID.
- 32:52Speaker 1: I had a lot of you could go through a
- 32:54Speaker 1: lot of the bats and then essentially not really matter,
- 32:57Speaker 1: yeah you know, and so you probably learned, yeah a
- 33:00Speaker 1: lot I could. I mean to have three hundred of
- 33:02Speaker 1: bats of nothing that's going to go on the back
- 33:05Speaker 1: of my baseball card, like you can, like I said,
- 33:08Speaker 1: learn a whole lot. And in that time with those
- 33:10Speaker 1: guys out there, how many of those guys are now
- 33:14Speaker 1: helping you win the big leagues.
- 33:15Speaker 3: Yeah, Chris Bubich is having a great year. He was
- 33:18Speaker 3: out there for a little bit and then got called up.
- 33:19Speaker 3: And then guys that got banged up, like Brady Singer
- 33:22Speaker 3: came down, had a couple of rehab starts down there
- 33:25Speaker 3: and stuff. And then Daniel Lynch, he was down there
- 33:27Speaker 3: facing them every other day, Jackson Kohar another guy like
- 33:30Speaker 3: there was probably seven guys big leaguers that are in
- 33:33Speaker 3: the big leagues right now that we were facing every day.
- 33:36Speaker 2: And so and that was me when I was twenty years.
- 33:39Speaker 3: Old, facing those guys every day at nineteen twenty whatever
- 33:42Speaker 3: it was, And so I think it really I mean,
- 33:47Speaker 3: and then even just coming out here for like the
- 33:49Speaker 3: little spring training that we had, I was able to
- 33:51Speaker 3: be around the big league coaches, be around the big
- 33:53Speaker 3: league staff, the big leaguers, the guys that future teammates,
- 33:57Speaker 3: and so it was cool just to kind of be
- 33:58Speaker 3: able to do that and get that opportunity.
- 34:00Speaker 1: I want to go back a little bit and your
- 34:02Speaker 1: your draft class nineteen there's a lot of guys that
- 34:06Speaker 1: are in the big leagues. So do you look like
- 34:10Speaker 1: look at that, like y'all have the new league, look
- 34:14Speaker 1: at all. All these guys are all in the big
- 34:17Speaker 1: leagues making huge splashes now. And so do you guys
- 34:22Speaker 1: ever talk or do you you know what I'm saying,
- 34:25Speaker 1: do you have relationships with with these guys?
- 34:28Speaker 2: Guy?
- 34:28Speaker 3: Yeah, a lot of the guys, just with all the
- 34:30Speaker 3: high school guys, we all kind of came up together,
- 34:32Speaker 3: liked all the Summer Show. Yeah, so like with Gunner
- 34:36Speaker 3: and CJ and Riley, Corbyn Volpi, all those guys, like
- 34:39Speaker 3: we're all played, all those guys besides Gunner, we're all
- 34:44Speaker 3: on the eighteen u TM USA team together.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Oh so yeah it already.
- 34:47Speaker 3: Yeah, we knew each other playing in the All American Games.
- 34:50Speaker 3: Me and Gunner played together in the All American Games,
- 34:52Speaker 3: like we were.
- 34:53Speaker 1: So if you and Gunner played together, where did you
- 34:55Speaker 1: play versus he played?
- 34:56Speaker 3: Because if you play third maybe at the time and
- 35:00Speaker 3: you play short. Yeah, we both played short, but then
- 35:02Speaker 3: I think at that game he played third ors.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, okay, so is it I mean, do y'all
- 35:08Speaker 1: when you go play against these guys do y'all go
- 35:11Speaker 1: to go eat or do y'all? Is it anything for
- 35:14Speaker 1: the game? Yeah? Gotcha? Gotch Yeah? Yeah, And that's that's
- 35:17Speaker 1: that's really neat. You know, going back and looking at
- 35:21Speaker 1: my draft class and I remember, you know, just coming
- 35:25Speaker 1: up and you see a lot of the guys through
- 35:26Speaker 1: the minors and you develop relationship these the guys are
- 35:29Speaker 1: going to essentially do do life when you'll you'll know
- 35:32Speaker 1: them for I mean, since you're eighteen until you're forty,
- 35:35Speaker 1: you know, and then you'll become really really good friends
- 35:39Speaker 1: with these guys. But going into now, you have a
- 35:43Speaker 1: lot of top prospects as the game keeps keeps evolving,
- 35:47Speaker 1: and you have you guys' top prospect, which is Jack
- 35:51Speaker 1: how do you say, kidn Leon? Yeah, he's all world
- 35:58Speaker 1: and he's gotten all the hype and what have you
- 36:02Speaker 1: kind of the same the same as you. Have you
- 36:03Speaker 1: been able to help him at all? Or have you
- 36:05Speaker 1: guys had any conversations about essentially being on top and
- 36:09Speaker 1: then having to come into a league where you have
- 36:14Speaker 1: so much hype? You know, have you helped them with that?
- 36:16Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 36:16Speaker 3: My biggest thing for that I kind of tell him
- 36:18Speaker 3: is just knowing that you're a big leader, because I
- 36:21Speaker 3: think that was the biggest thing for me, is like
- 36:23Speaker 3: you get up here at a young age or whatever
- 36:24Speaker 3: it is, and you're like looking around and it's like, man,
- 36:27Speaker 3: they're salvageor prez this guy, this guy is are like
- 36:29Speaker 3: am I supposed to be here? But then it's like
- 36:31Speaker 3: your talent the reason why they draft you, the reason
- 36:33Speaker 3: why you're here. That's that's why you're here. You don't
- 36:35Speaker 3: need to do more, you don't need to do less.
- 36:37Speaker 3: And I feel like I still to this day do
- 36:39Speaker 3: that just because of like I'm this name, like I
- 36:41Speaker 3: want to do more. I want to help the team,
- 36:43Speaker 3: like get the playoffs, I want to do.
- 36:44Speaker 2: More or whatever it is.
- 36:45Speaker 3: And where I just got to go out there and
- 36:47Speaker 3: know my routine, know my preparation. Just be Bobby Woo Junior,
- 36:50Speaker 3: and I just that's what I tell them every day.
- 36:52Speaker 3: Just go out there and be Jack. You're a big
- 36:53Speaker 3: leader for a reason. Look at you, Like, just go
- 36:56Speaker 3: out there and enjoy it because you never know how
- 36:58Speaker 3: long this game's gonna kind of yeah last because it
- 37:01Speaker 3: could be over like that, or it could be you
- 37:02Speaker 3: could play for twenty plus years and so just really
- 37:05Speaker 3: I think for him, it's for me telling him. It's
- 37:07Speaker 3: like at the beginning, I was like, all right, I'll
- 37:09Speaker 3: each and every day, I'm gonna tell you one thing
- 37:11Speaker 3: about like the big league life style, whether it's like
- 37:13Speaker 3: all right, wear pants on the road or whatever. It's
- 37:15Speaker 3: be the first one or be on the first bus
- 37:17Speaker 3: or whatever it is. Those little things that like with
- 37:19Speaker 3: my dad being there, I knew, and some guys didn't know,
- 37:22Speaker 3: like they're getting on the last bus whatever is a rookie,
- 37:24Speaker 3: whatever it is, and those little things you know how
- 37:26Speaker 3: it is. But now it's just like all right now
- 37:29Speaker 3: telling them like you're a big leader.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Let's just know that.
- 37:32Speaker 3: Get that in your mind, and just everything you do
- 37:34Speaker 3: everything because last year was in college, everything you did
- 37:36Speaker 3: there got you to do this day, and it's keep
- 37:39Speaker 3: doing that, don't try to do more, don't try to
- 37:40Speaker 3: do less.
- 37:41Speaker 2: And so I think that's been a big thing for him.
- 37:43Speaker 1: What's it like for you personally assuming a leader role?
- 37:48Speaker 1: You know, I'm sure you didn't come in and say
- 37:50Speaker 1: I want to be a leader X, Y and Z,
- 37:52Speaker 1: and I'm sure Salby does take a lot of that
- 37:55Speaker 1: leadership role with you. But what's it like for you?
- 37:58Speaker 2: You know.
- 37:58Speaker 1: I mean because I remember when I was young and
- 38:01Speaker 1: you know, you start playing well, and I didn't ask
- 38:03Speaker 1: for a leadership role. It was kind of like once
- 38:05Speaker 1: you start playing well, you just kind of have to
- 38:07Speaker 1: take it. And at first I didn't know how to
- 38:10Speaker 1: handle that, like I don't I don't know. I'm not
- 38:12Speaker 1: in charge of other people, Like that's not what I'm
- 38:14Speaker 1: here for. I'm here to take care of my job.
- 38:17Speaker 1: But once you start balling, man, you start kind of
- 38:19Speaker 1: become becoming responsible for rules and regulations and you know
- 38:26Speaker 1: everything around the field, around the game relative to your team.
- 38:30Speaker 1: So what's what has that been been for you?
- 38:33Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been I feel like different just because of
- 38:35Speaker 2: like you're saying, like you're this.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Young guy, like you're not going to you don't want
- 38:38Speaker 3: to be the one that's telling guys that are.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Your age what to do or whatever it is.
- 38:41Speaker 3: So that's kind of not I'm not really a big
- 38:44Speaker 3: vocal guy too, So it's like I want to make
- 38:46Speaker 3: sure I'm doing things for myself to get ready to
- 38:49Speaker 3: help the team win and go kind of lead by
- 38:51Speaker 3: example in a sense. But also it's like I want
- 38:53Speaker 3: to be there to help if someone just needs talking
- 38:56Speaker 3: to or whatever it is or anything. And so I'm
- 38:58Speaker 3: still kind of figuring that out and just trying to
- 39:01Speaker 3: just make sure that I'm managing myself but then managing
- 39:04Speaker 3: guys around the team because Salve's a captain and everything,
- 39:08Speaker 3: so guys go through him. But then it's like, all right,
- 39:10Speaker 3: maybe some guys look up to me and like what
- 39:11Speaker 3: do I need to do? And so it's still trying
- 39:13Speaker 3: to figure that out. But also I want to make
- 39:15Speaker 3: sure that I'm ready each and every night to go
- 39:17Speaker 3: help the team win and feel like for me when
- 39:19Speaker 3: I'm doing that, that's my way of kind of leading innocent.
- 39:22Speaker 1: What's it like, what's it been like playing with Salvi?
- 39:25Speaker 2: It's been amazing.
- 39:26Speaker 3: It's just he's just one of those guys where he
- 39:28Speaker 3: walks in and it's like, all right, there's wow, there's Salve.
- 39:31Speaker 3: He's he could go oh for four to four strikeouts,
- 39:33Speaker 3: for four home runs. He's going to be the same
- 39:35Speaker 3: guy after the game, once he kind of gets his
- 39:38Speaker 3: treatment whatever it is, he's going to walk out, be laughing, smiling,
- 39:41Speaker 3: Salve next day, same guy. And so and it's just
- 39:44Speaker 3: his routine, his work. It's the same thing every day.
- 39:47Speaker 3: And so he just knows. Like I was saying earlier
- 39:50Speaker 3: about just with the guys that were the USA team,
- 39:53Speaker 3: just there's a reason why they're so good, and just
- 39:56Speaker 3: because of their preparation, their work. He's first most of
- 39:59Speaker 3: the time, his first, their last guy to leave, and
- 40:01Speaker 3: so even in spring training, and so it's just like
- 40:03Speaker 3: there's a reason why he's he's only what I think
- 40:05Speaker 3: thirty three or thirty four. Had been around the league
- 40:08Speaker 3: for a long time, but there's there's a reason why
- 40:10Speaker 3: he is who he is.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Salvi's only thirty three or thirty four. Yeah, wow, I thought, Salve,
- 40:15Speaker 1: this has got to be his eighteenth you know, so
- 40:18Speaker 1: he's he's just a year older to be. So yeah,
- 40:21Speaker 1: I mean it's awesome. I know, every time I see Sally,
- 40:25Speaker 1: it's just like you said, it's just a big, infectious smile.
- 40:28Speaker 1: I mean, he's obviously been a Royal for his whole career,
- 40:31Speaker 1: so he just bleeds you know, royal blue, you know,
- 40:36Speaker 1: and I can only imagine really playing with him. It's
- 40:40Speaker 1: got to be fun. He's got to keep it, keep it,
- 40:42Speaker 1: you know, loose and having fun in the clubhouse. I
- 40:46Speaker 1: know for sure, him going from you know, being on
- 40:49Speaker 1: the team in fifteen and then going through these little
- 40:51Speaker 1: stretch and he's got to be leading you guys because
- 40:54Speaker 1: he knows what it takes. And so has there been
- 40:56Speaker 1: any advice or anything that he's kind of talked to
- 41:00Speaker 1: you guys about. Yeah, it's just for as far as
- 41:02Speaker 1: getting you guys back there.
- 41:03Speaker 3: Yeah, it's pretty much like I was saying, just show
- 41:05Speaker 3: up to the field, just with we we're gonna win
- 41:08Speaker 3: each and every day. Just have that mindset. And he
- 41:10Speaker 3: said that that was the mindset of that fourteen and
- 41:12Speaker 3: fifteen team. It's like they showed up the field like
- 41:14Speaker 3: in the years past they weren't great and then they
- 41:16Speaker 3: but they showed up and they're like, all right, we're
- 41:18Speaker 3: gonna we're gonna go beat them today.
- 41:20Speaker 2: We're gonna go beat up on them tonight.
- 41:21Speaker 3: And so like just having that mentality no matter who
- 41:24Speaker 3: you're playing or whatever it is, like could be playing
- 41:26Speaker 3: the last place team, first place team, it's like, you
- 41:28Speaker 3: show up the field, don't take anything for granted.
- 41:30Speaker 2: You're in the big leagues, like this isn't this is
- 41:32Speaker 2: a great opportunity.
- 41:33Speaker 3: And that's something that I feel like for him, he's
- 41:35Speaker 3: never taken playing the big leagues for granted. That's that's
- 41:38Speaker 3: what makes him so special and just kind of just
- 41:41Speaker 3: who he is.
- 41:41Speaker 2: And just and they have been.
- 41:43Speaker 3: They've been having a bunch of those reunions from the
- 41:45Speaker 3: fourteen to fifteen tenure reunions. A bunch of those guys
- 41:48Speaker 3: come back and just the stories and it's the same thing.
- 41:50Speaker 2: It's just all right, we.
- 41:52Speaker 3: Came to the field ready to beat up on another team,
- 41:54Speaker 3: and we didn't take for granted that we're in big leagues.
- 41:58Speaker 3: And we went out there and just went out have fun.
- 42:00Speaker 3: And so that was the thing that's what made them
- 42:02Speaker 3: so and they were so close, and those guys are
- 42:04Speaker 3: still so close, just coming back.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Ten years later.
- 42:06Speaker 1: I think that's that's like you you just hit a
- 42:09Speaker 1: big point. Is like it takes more than just playing well,
- 42:14Speaker 1: you know, like it takes more than just playing well
- 42:17Speaker 1: at the right time. It takes more than talent. I
- 42:20Speaker 1: think a lot goes into just creating relationships, like real
- 42:25Speaker 1: relationships with your brothers in that clubhouse. Like because when
- 42:28Speaker 1: you're going to war, you don't know what's going to
- 42:32Speaker 1: happen during the war, but I do know my boy
- 42:35Speaker 1: got my back wherever I go. If I get out,
- 42:38Speaker 1: don't get out, whatever it is. If I'm get put
- 42:40Speaker 1: in the pressure situation, it's something to something to knowing
- 42:45Speaker 1: that your boys have your back, and I think you know,
- 42:49Speaker 1: as you're going through this through your career and you'll
- 42:52Speaker 1: be very successful as you always are, but just know that,
- 42:55Speaker 1: like maybe that's a way that can help you lead.
- 42:58Speaker 1: It's just really just bringing the guys together. That's that's
- 43:01Speaker 1: not even doing anything but just going to grab a
- 43:05Speaker 1: glass of wine or go eat or whatever it is.
- 43:07Speaker 1: I'm sure you guys do all that, but like really
- 43:10Speaker 1: be intentional about it, because that really does change when
- 43:14Speaker 1: it gets down to the seventh inning with two outs
- 43:16Speaker 1: and a man at third and whoever's on the mound.
- 43:20Speaker 1: We just went to eat two days ago whatever, Like
- 43:23Speaker 1: you know where we talked about this same situation. You
- 43:25Speaker 1: know that, uh, that does matter, So that that would
- 43:29Speaker 1: be a little bit of advice I have for you.
- 43:30Speaker 1: It's like, just get the guys to congregates, you know,
- 43:34Speaker 1: hang out and the hang out in them in the cage.
- 43:37Speaker 1: You know a lot of people. You know, It's it's
- 43:40Speaker 1: hard because everybody has their own life going on. You know,
- 43:42Speaker 1: they have things going on. But if you want to
- 43:45Speaker 1: be successful. Bro, I would definitely say make sure you
- 43:47Speaker 1: bring the boys together so I do, uh before I
- 43:54Speaker 1: let you go. There was in the Player's Tribune you
- 44:00Speaker 1: you wrote a story about batting stances.
- 44:03Speaker 3: Well, I think that was just a piece of from
- 44:06Speaker 3: like how I got my swing?
- 44:07Speaker 1: Oh you brought So it was about how you developed
- 44:10Speaker 1: your swing. So tell me about what all what the
- 44:14Speaker 1: article said.
- 44:15Speaker 3: Yeah, it was just it kind of just went about
- 44:17Speaker 3: me and just how I pretty much gave me a
- 44:20Speaker 3: timeline of my life and just how it was kind
- 44:22Speaker 3: of always like the shy guy, maybe worried about results,
- 44:26Speaker 3: worried about what other people thought, and then but just
- 44:28Speaker 3: with the the batting stance thing, it was just kind
- 44:31Speaker 3: of how I built my swing. I've never really had
- 44:32Speaker 3: like a hitting guy or whatever growing up, and so
- 44:34Speaker 3: I was always watching like Princeville or out of to Tap.
- 44:37Speaker 3: I want to try toe tap, all right, Dustin MAJORI
- 44:39Speaker 3: did this battor I want to do the bat toral
- 44:41Speaker 3: and just the little things that stuck with me. But yeah,
- 44:43Speaker 3: that was it was a pretty cool article I was
- 44:45Speaker 3: able to do, and.
- 44:46Speaker 1: You put them all together and became.
- 44:48Speaker 3: Just kind of built my swing from other guys watching
- 44:51Speaker 3: with my dad or whatever. It was like, all right,
- 44:54Speaker 3: here's this and even like it was funny with Kyle Hagashioka.
- 44:56Speaker 2: And the WBC whatever it was.
- 44:59Speaker 3: He's like, man, I'm gonna hit like MOOKI And then
- 45:01Speaker 3: he started hitting like you, and he started hitting good,
- 45:02Speaker 3: and then he hits all these homers.
- 45:04Speaker 2: I'm like that, I wonder if that's what stuck.
- 45:06Speaker 3: Because he was talking about like how I'm gonna take
- 45:09Speaker 3: guys swings with I'm gonna do hit like Mookie. We're
- 45:11Speaker 3: out hitting early, and he started hitting homers. He's like, man,
- 45:13Speaker 3: this might stick.
- 45:14Speaker 2: And now I had no idea he said that.
- 45:17Speaker 1: So, so who who out of all the people that
- 45:20Speaker 1: you use for your stands, Like, who's the one that
- 45:25Speaker 1: resonates the most?
- 45:26Speaker 3: I think for me it was just growing up, it
- 45:28Speaker 3: was Pedroya, just because if I love watching, here's my guy.
- 45:31Speaker 3: Like he was out here a couple of weeks ago
- 45:33Speaker 3: when Boston was playing like he was the man.
- 45:36Speaker 2: I talked to him, Yeah, oh yeah, he's he's number one.
- 45:38Speaker 2: He's uh.
- 45:39Speaker 3: But like I still do the bat little towel for
- 45:42Speaker 3: old because of him, and so like when I was
- 45:45Speaker 3: I don't know how I always were fifteen, but when
- 45:47Speaker 3: I was like twelve thirteen, I had like the straight up,
- 45:49Speaker 3: stand up, stands highlight k kind of he had. And
- 45:52Speaker 3: then from there just try to simplified as much as possible.
- 45:56Speaker 3: And but yeah, but that was he was my guy.
- 45:58Speaker 1: Nice. So we do have a game today, brother, so
- 46:02Speaker 1: i'ma I'm gonna let you go again. Man, you're awesome.
- 46:07Speaker 1: Congrats on all your success. Obviously I'm on the other side,
- 46:10Speaker 1: so I don't get to see you as much as
- 46:11Speaker 1: I get to see you on TV all the time.
- 46:14Speaker 1: It's just amazing what you've done, what you're being able
- 46:17Speaker 1: to do, what you're going to do. I hope you
- 46:19Speaker 1: really have fun at the WVC, man, especially now that
- 46:23Speaker 1: you'll actually really get to play and really get to
- 46:25Speaker 1: fill it. I know you were in the dugout and
- 46:27Speaker 1: you got to feel it, and I think that experience
- 46:29Speaker 1: will definitely help you. But for some reason, man, I
- 46:32Speaker 1: feel like this this WVC is going to be loaded.
- 46:35Speaker 1: I feel like everybody is going to play for their country,
- 46:39Speaker 1: so I think this will be some of the most
- 46:41Speaker 1: fun baseball we'll see in a long time, man, So
- 46:45Speaker 1: make sure you cherish.
- 46:47Speaker 2: All those moods no doubt, Thank you, thank you.
- 46:49Speaker 1: For having me, Thanks for watching on Bass presented by Geico.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Get more baseball and get more with Geico. Thanks Bobby,
- 46:57Speaker 1: See you guys next time.
