- Lucas: Velkommen to Episode 13 of Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Hey Lucas, I'm really in the mood for a story today. Lucas: Good, because I've got a tiny story for you. A morning at the bakery. Luna: Ooh, I love bakeries. All that fresh bread. Lucas: Right? So, picture this. It's early morning, maybe seven AM. A woman walks into a cozy bakery in Oslo. Luna: Yeah, I can almost smell the cinnamon buns. Lucas: As she enters, she sees the baker behind the counter. She smiles and says, 'God morgen.' Luna: God morgen. That's 'good morning,' right? Lucas: Exactly. The baker looks up and replies, 'God morgen! Hvordan går det?' Luna: Hvordan går det. That's 'how's it going.' Lucas: You got it. The woman answers, 'Bra, takk.' Fine, thanks. Luna: Bra, takk. So far so good. Lucas: Then she adds, 'Jeg vil gjerne ha et brød, takk.' Now, that's a new phrase, but we'll save it for another episode. Today we stick with what we know. Luna: Okay, so she says she wants a bread. Got it. But we're only using the old phrases. Lucas: Yep. So the baker nods, wraps up a loaf, and hands it to her. She pays, and then she says, 'Ha det.' Luna: Ha det. Bye. And the baker? Lucas: The baker says, 'Ha det, vi snakkes.' See you, we'll talk. Luna: Vi snakkes. I remember that from episode four. Lucas: Nice memory. So the whole conversation: God morgen, Hvordan går det, Bra takk, Ha det. Simple, right? Luna: It sounds so natural. I want to try it. So I walk in… God morgen. Lucas: God morgen! Hvordan går det? Luna: Bra, takk. Og… Ha det. Lucas: Ooh, you added 'og'—that's 'and'. Cute. But you said 'og Ha det' as if you're saying goodbye right away. In the story, she said Ha det after buying. But hey, it works. You get a loaf of imaginary bread. Luna: Ohh, I skipped the ordering part. Right. So the flow is: God morgen, Hvordan går det, Bra takk, order, then Ha det. Lucas: Exactly. Let me tell the story again, but this time I want you to say the Norwegian parts with me. Luna: Ready. Lucas: It's early morning. The woman walks in and says… Luna: God morgen. Lucas: The baker says, 'God morgen! Hvordan går det?' She replies… Luna: Bra, takk. Lucas: She buys bread. Then she leaves and says… Luna: Ha det. Lucas: That was perfect. You nailed it. Luna: I love how the phrases fit together like a little dance. Lucas: That's a great way to put it. And the more you practice, the more natural it feels. Luna: I think I'll use this next time I go to a bakery. Even if it's just in my head. Lucas: Do it. And when you're there, you can even say 'Hei' instead of 'God morgen' if it's later in the day. Luna: Oh right, Hei is the all-purpose hello. Lucas: Exactly. Hei works morning, noon, and night. So if it's afternoon, you can just say 'Hei' and 'Hvordan går det?' Luna: Hei, Hvordan går det? Bra, takk. Ha det. Lucas: That's a full conversation right there. You just had a Norwegian bakery interaction. Luna: I did! And I didn't even need to order anything. Lucas: That's the beauty of it. Even a simple greeting exchange makes you feel connected. Luna: Okay, I want to hear the whole story from start to finish one more time, with all the Norwegian in place. Lucas: Sure. Here goes. Early morning, a woman walks into a bakery. She says, 'God morgen.' The baker replies, 'God morgen! Hvordan går det?' She says, 'Bra, takk.' She buys a loaf of bread, pays, and says, 'Ha det.' The baker waves and says, 'Ha det, vi snakkes.' Luna: That is so satisfying. I can picture it perfectly. Lucas: And that's all you need for now. Practice those phrases, and next time you're in a cozy situation, you'll be ready. Luna: I'm going to practice saying 'God morgen' to my coffee cup tomorrow morning. Lucas: Your coffee cup will appreciate it. And thanks for joining us on Fexingo. We hope you enjoyed this little story. Luna: See you next time! Ha det. Lucas: Ha det, vi snakkes.
