- 0:01Genesis chapter 14 let us pray Lord God Almighty, who reigns on
- 0:08high. Lord, we love you, we love
- 0:11everything about you God, we love the way that you move and
- 0:14speak. We love your words.
- 0:16God, we love the fact that you are supreme.
- 0:20You are moving everything in accordance with your plan.
- 0:24God, heaven and earth shall pass away, but not one of these
- 0:27words. Your word is alive and active
- 0:29and sharper than any 2 edged sword.
- 0:31So God, I pray Father, for the Shekinah glory to come God, and
- 0:36come and dwell us all around Father.
- 0:39Move us into heights God, and move us through the depths,
- 0:42Father. The valleys, God and the peaks,
- 0:45Lord, you are there. You are our peace.
- 0:47You're the 4th man in the fire. So God, we get out of our own
- 0:50way, we get out of our own understanding.
- 0:52God, we yield and we bend towards you.
- 0:57Father, I pray that the word will go into fertile soil and
- 1:01produce a crop and produce a harvest.
- 1:04Father, I pray that we will be fruitful, Lord, that we will
- 1:08actually be found out in the harvest with our hand to the
- 1:11plow, God spreading seed. Lord, I pray that the good news
- 1:16of Jesus Christ will reach all people groups, all continents,
- 1:20all across this globe. Father, I pray that you'll
- 1:23continue to draw people towards yourself.
- 1:27God, I pray that you'll save to the utmost.
- 1:29Your arm is not too short to save.
- 1:31And so, God, I pray that right now, in this moment for this
- 1:36time, God, you'll rebuke the devourer from off of this time.
- 1:39Rebuke the devourer from off of our families.
- 1:42Rebuke the devourers for all from off of our bodies.
- 1:45God, I pray that you'll bring the prodigals home.
- 1:48God, I pray that you'll restore marriages.
- 1:50God, I pray that fathers will rise up and be the spiritual
- 1:54leader of their home. God, I pray that you will
- 1:57continue to strengthen the family unit.
- 1:59God, I pray for the capital C Church, the ekkles see of the
- 2:03called out ones. Lord, I pray you'll strengthen
- 2:06us in this hour. Lord, no weapon formed against
- 2:09us shall prosper. It's all about King Jesus.
- 2:13It's always been about King Jesus.
- 2:15It'll always be about King Jesus.
- 2:19So Lord, come, Maranatha, come teach us your ways.
- 2:24Father, help us, God, to understand more of who you are.
- 2:30Give us a new facet of your face.
- 2:33God, we cry out, holy, holy, holy are you, Lord God Almighty
- 2:41Holy Spirit, fill us, teach us, give us discernment, give us
- 2:47conviction. God, let us lay down all the
- 2:50weights that are entangling us. I decrease as you increase.
- 2:57Teach us Marinatha in Jesus Christ, holy and precious name I
- 3:02pray, Amen. Well, let's start in verse one.
- 3:10And it came to pass in the days of Arm Rifle, King of Shinar,
- 3:16Arioch, King of Elasar, Cheddar Lama, King of Elam and title
- 3:21king of nations. So here we are.
- 3:23We're going to see this confederate of rulers and
- 3:27they're going up against the king of Sodom and they're trying
- 3:30to revolt against any kind of tyranny and the hard pressed
- 3:34hand upon them. Verse 2 that these made war with
- 3:39Bera king of Sodom, and with Bersha king of Gomorrah, Shinab
- 3:43king of Admah, and Shem Eber king of Zeboim and the king of
- 3:49Billah, which is or so here this Confederate army going up
- 3:54against another one, you see war breaking out.
- 3:57You see that even from the infancy of manhood, from the
- 4:02infancy of mankind, humanity, you see that war, just like
- 4:09whenever Cain picked up the rock to slay his brother, you see
- 4:13that they're warring within themselves, and this is power
- 4:16grabs and this is about control. And here they're finally having
- 4:21enough of the King of Sodom and the King of Gomorrah, and
- 4:25they're going to revolt against him.
- 4:28Verse 3, All these were joined together in the valley of Sidim,
- 4:32which is the Salt Sea, also known as the Dead Sea.
- 4:36For 12 years they serve Cheddar Lama, and in the 13th year they
- 4:41rebelled. So they got it.
- 4:44They got sick of it, they got fed up.
- 4:46They said no more, we will no longer take this heavy taxation
- 4:52against us. And so they revolt.
- 4:56Verse 5. And in the 14th year, Cheddar
- 4:59Lamer and the kings that were with him and struck the Refim
- 5:03and Ashtarat Car name and Zooms and Ham and the Englands and
- 5:08Shava Keratim. So here you have these real
- 5:12people in real places, real literal geographical places.
- 5:16And archaeology proves that these kings, archaeology proves
- 5:21that all of this actually happened.
- 5:23And we will catch up with the Bible, friends, it's not the
- 5:26other way around. It's not that the Bible will
- 5:28catch up with our times. It doesn't work that way.
- 5:32It is us getting out of our own understanding and us saying yes
- 5:36and Amen to all the promises contained in God's Word and
- 5:40building our whole life upon it, and actually never calling
- 5:44anything into question, but saying yes to all of the things
- 5:48that are written and then allowing time and space to prove
- 5:52the very things that the Bible tells us.
- 5:56Six in the Horites in their mount Cyr unto El Paran, which
- 6:01is by the wilderness 7 And they returned and came to en Mishmat,
- 6:06which is Kadesh, and struck all the country of the Amalkalites,
- 6:11and also the Amorites that dwell, and Hezazan Tamar.
- 6:15So here you can see that these people are actual literal people
- 6:20and these are places. And when they say kings, it's
- 6:23actually more of like a governor or even a mayor of a city.
- 6:29That is what is mentioned here. It's not in the sense that we
- 6:32think of kingdoms and kings of these large areas of swaths of
- 6:38lands. These would have been more like
- 6:40the leaders of a city. 8 And there went out king of Sodom,
- 6:45and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Adbah, and the king
- 6:48of Zeboim and the king of Bellah, the same as Zoar, and
- 6:52they joined battle with them in the veil of siddim, that is the
- 6:55salt sea in the valley. Nine with Cheddar Lamar, the
- 7:00king of Elam, and with title the king of nations, and with
- 7:03Aramfel king of Shinar and area king of LSR. 4 Kings with five.
- 7:09So it's four on five, friends. Let's see how it fares.
- 7:15And the valley of Siddhim was full of slime pits and the king
- 7:19of Sodom and Gomorrah fled and fell there and they remained
- 7:23fled to the mountain. So there was these slime pits
- 7:27there and they got trapped in them.
- 7:29And it was a reason for them to turn and tuck tail and leave,
- 7:36because they saw that it was to no avail for them to continue in
- 7:41the battle. They fled to the mountain 11 and
- 7:45they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their
- 7:49victuals and went their way. So this was a power grab and
- 7:53they were going to take all of not just the goods, not just the
- 7:57treasures, but they were also going to take the people and use
- 8:00them as well. 12 And they took Lot Abrams brothers son who
- 8:08dwelt in Sodom and his goods and departed.
- 8:11So we remember from a few chapters ago that Sodom pitched
- 8:15his tent towards Sodom, Lot pitched his tent towards Sodom.
- 8:21And we see here that he's caught up in all of this disgusting
- 8:26practices of Sodom and Gomorrah, of the strange flesh of going
- 8:31after all of the disgusting practices that were happening in
- 8:35that place. And we see also as later on, as
- 8:38the time goes on, that we'll see that Lot was in the court.
- 8:42He was in the highest official public office, and you can see
- 8:47here that he is deeply embedded in with the city of Sodom and
- 8:54all the practices that are there.
- 8:56And if we did not have the book of Hebrews to tell us that Sodom
- 8:59was a righteous man, there's really no proof within these
- 9:03texts that tell us that. 13 And there came one that had escaped,
- 9:12and they told Abram the Hebrew, for he dwelt in the plaintiff
- 9:16Mamre the Amorite, brother of Escal, the brother of Aner.
- 9:21And these were the confederate with Abram.
- 9:23So you can see here that one got away and they came to Abram, and
- 9:27they said, listen, your nephew has been captured.
- 9:30And it wouldn't have made any matter to Abram if these four
- 9:35against 5 confederate kings went against each other.
- 9:39It wouldn't have actually affected him in any such way.
- 9:43But because it involved Lot, now he's forced to act.
- 9:49And there are so many things that Abram has done wrong.
- 9:53He went down into Egypt. He got the slave girl there.
- 9:57He took Lot when he wasn't supposed to.
- 9:59God is silent whenever he's moving in disobedience.
- 10:03But the moment that he comes out of Egypt and the moment that Lot
- 10:07took off, God started talking to him.
- 10:09And now here we are in trouble again.
- 10:12Look at the trouble that's been caused by Abram's disobedience
- 10:16of not listening to God. 14 And when Abram heard that his
- 10:21brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants born
- 10:25in his own house, 318 and pursued them into Dan.
- 10:30So 318 trained men. That's not including all the
- 10:34women and children or the untrained men.
- 10:37Look how incredibly blessed Abram is.
- 10:42And he came out of Egypt with lots of goods, and you can see
- 10:46here that God is blessing him even in his disobedience. 15 And
- 10:51he divided himself against them, he and his servants by night,
- 10:54and he struck them and pursued them unto Haba, which is on the
- 10:59left hand of Damascus. So divide and conquer.
- 11:02And he actually went on the sneak attack.
- 11:04He went at night, and he told one to go one side and the other
- 11:07to go the other side. And while they were festive and
- 11:10while they thought that everything was good and the
- 11:13battle was over, here comes this rogue military unit in the form
- 11:20of Abram and his 318 trained men.
- 11:23And you can see that when they turn to fight against one side,
- 11:27the other side was on their back on their six and actually was
- 11:31able to overtake them. 16 And he brought back all the goods, and
- 11:37he also brought again his brother Lot and his goods and
- 11:40the women also, and the people. So look at all the things that
- 11:43he recovered. He brought back the goods, He
- 11:47brought back lot, He brought back the women, He brought back
- 11:51the people. What an amazing victory.
- 11:54And God is the rear guard. God is the front guard.
- 11:57God is your side guard. And when God is for you, no one
- 12:01can be against you. He can shut doors that no man
- 12:04can open. He can open the doors that no
- 12:07man can close. He can rain down fire from
- 12:09heaven. He can send the Angel, the
- 12:11destroying Angel, in there, and strike all the hundreds and
- 12:1580,000 Assyrians in one night. There's nothing impossible for
- 12:20our God. 17 And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after
- 12:25his return from the slaughter of Cheddar Lama.
- 12:28And the kings of that were with him in the valley of Shava,
- 12:32which is in the King's Dale. So here comes the king of Sodom,
- 12:37and he's coming out to meet Abraham, and he sees that he has
- 12:42all his goods with him. 18 And Melchizedek, king of Salem,
- 12:51brought forth bread and wine, and he was the priest of the
- 12:56Most High God, El Elyon. You can see here that this
- 13:01mysterious king of Salem has no beginning and no end, no mother
- 13:09or father. He's a king and a priest, and
- 13:13this sure fits the bill of our Messiah, Yeshua.
- 13:17Perhaps this is a Christophany, as Jesus comes out with the same
- 13:23elements of communion, of bread and wine, pointing towards the
- 13:28cross, pointing towards the sacrifice that he will make one
- 13:33day. And look at how he meets Abram
- 13:37out there, and they share this bread and this wine. 19 And he
- 13:43blessed him and said, blessed be Abram of the Most High God,
- 13:48possessor of heaven and earth. So God possesses heaven, God
- 13:53possesses earth. God is the one who's blessing
- 13:56Abram, and he's going to form an entire nation out of Abram, the
- 14:02father of faith. And he called him out of the
- 14:04land of the Chaldeans in the land of earth.
- 14:06And here you can see that Abram was not a nation at this point.
- 14:11He did not even have his own son yet.
- 14:14And he's already being blessed by this Christophany Jesus
- 14:19coming and sharing the communion with Abram.
- 14:22What an amazing thought. And we know that Abram was
- 14:25pressing towards a city that was not built by man, it was built
- 14:30by God. We look forward to the New
- 14:33Jerusalem. 20 And blessed be the most High God, which has
- 14:38delivered your enemies into your hand.
- 14:40And he gave him tides of all. So here you could see that
- 14:44Melchizedek is blessing Jesus, blessing Abram, and then what
- 14:50does Abram do? He turns right around and he
- 14:53gives him a 10th of everything that he had.
- 14:56This is our rightful response. There is nothing in our hands
- 15:00that actually belongs to us. It all belongs to God Almighty.
- 15:05And when we give him the 10%, we say thank you for allowing us to
- 15:10steward the 90%. And He can do more with the 90%
- 15:14that is blessed than he can with the 100% that is.
- 15:19And he'll rebuke the devourer from off of the 90%, friends.
- 15:23And you'll be able to do the things that need to be done, and
- 15:27you'll be able to actually have more leftover in the end than
- 15:32trying to hold on to all of it. And look at Abraham's heart.
- 15:36It's easy for him because he understands where it all comes
- 15:39from. It's all from God.
- 15:42And we can take nothing with us, but we sure can send it ahead.
- 15:4821 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the people,
- 15:53and you take the goods for yourself. 22 And Abram said to
- 15:57the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand to the Lord, the Most
- 16:02High God, the Possessor of heaven and earth.
- 16:05Look at how he learned that from Melchizedek.
- 16:08That was the title that Melchizedek used talking about
- 16:12God Almighty, Elian, the Most High God.
- 16:16And look how now Abram is starting to figure it out and he
- 16:20doesn't just call him Lord and I deny, he calls him Elian, the
- 16:24Most High God, the possessor of heaven and earth.
- 16:27Praise God 23 I will not take from you even a thread of a shoe
- 16:33latchet, and I will not take anything that is yours unless
- 16:39you should say I've made Abram rich.
- 16:41So he understood the game. Abram understood what the King
- 16:45of Sodom was after. He was trying to pigeonhole him.
- 16:48He was trying to back him into a corner.
- 16:50He was trying to bribe him. He was trying to get him to take
- 16:53something so that he could turn right around and claim some kind
- 16:58of title and some kind of victory and some kind of
- 17:05authority over Abram. And if you think about Israel,
- 17:11you think about the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, you
- 17:14think about Israel, friends, and you think about how they serve
- 17:19God Almighty. They do not serve the Pagan
- 17:22kings and the Pagan gods all around them.
- 17:26We'll end on 24, save only that which the young men have eaten
- 17:30in the portion of the men which went with me.
- 17:32Ain't no that's called mom Ray. Let them take their portion.
- 17:36So he's saying accept what we've already eaten.
- 17:39We will not accept a single thing.
- 17:41Take it all. Take the goods and take the
- 17:45people. So here you can see that Lot got
- 17:51himself into a lot of trouble and it took the Most High God to
- 17:54get him out of it. And because Abram is connected
- 17:58to the Most High God, he was victorious.
- 18:02And he shouldn't have took Lot in the 1st place and he
- 18:05shouldn't have went down into Egypt and got Hagar.
- 18:08But we'll learn more about that as we go.
- 18:11I hope you've been blessed by this amazing chapter in God's
- 18:14Word. I know I sure have.
- 18:16I'm praying for every single one of you.
- 18:18I love you. We'll see you back here
- 18:20tomorrow. God bless you.
