- 0:27Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:30coop. Let me ask you a question.
- 0:32Why do you think people give up? Or better yet, why do you give
- 0:35up when you're in the middle of something, whether it's a
- 0:38project or an idea or a relationship?
- 0:42Why do you think people give up? What is the main reason that
- 0:45people give up? Well, mostly it's because people
- 0:50have, you know, the tenacity to stick it out has has been
- 0:55drained away. Something has taken away their
- 0:57tenacity to stick it out. Something along the way has
- 1:01kicked in and said, I don't know if I can do this anymore.
- 1:04I just think that I'm at the point of no return and I'm going
- 1:07to walk away. And often we go into things
- 1:11without setting the benchmark of when am I going to throw the
- 1:14towel in. It's not like you start a
- 1:16relationship and say, hey, if this ever happens, I'm going to
- 1:19throw the towel in. Usually it's like when things
- 1:23show up, then we make decisions as we go, but most of the time
- 1:28it's it's it's fly by the seat of our pants and giving up,
- 1:32especially in daily life. Like I I just give up, I'm done
- 1:36with it. I can't do it anymore.
- 1:38Is more about a surrender than a choice.
- 1:41Now I want you to think about that for a second.
- 1:42Because when you just surrender and you're just like you're
- 1:45beaten at that point, as opposed to I choose when you are in the
- 1:49frame of I choose, you have a lot more power, you have a lot
- 1:53more going for you. When you say I choose, I choose
- 1:56to walk away from this. I choose not to engage in this
- 1:59because you're not being victimized by the fact of I have
- 2:02to surrender. I'm, I'm a beaten person and
- 2:06often times that's how it feels when you are in the process of
- 2:09giving up, you just feel like I'm beaten by something.
- 2:13And again that can be relationship driven, that can be
- 2:16project driven, that can be, you know, just about anything that
- 2:21we can talk about. We have points of return where
- 2:23hey, I give up, you know a couple seasons ago I was
- 2:26determined that I was going to be able to grow certain flowers
- 2:29here. And no matter what I did, I
- 2:31couldn't make them grow. And I I planted at different
- 2:35times. I tried different companies from
- 2:38seeds and bulbs and I just could not get these damn things to
- 2:41grow. And I said, you know what, I'm,
- 2:44I'm going to give up on this. I'm going to walk away from
- 2:47this. And that always stuck with me as
- 2:49like, gosh, you don't give up on things.
- 2:51Why are you giving up on this? But the truth is, I wasn't
- 2:54looking at all the parameters when I went into it.
- 2:57I was looking at my desire more than I was looking at what the
- 3:01desire to have that those particular breeds of flowers.
- 3:04But I wasn't looking at their parameters to see where they
- 3:08would thrive. So I screwed up.
- 3:10I didn't look at and say, Oh well, you know what, they're
- 3:12never going to flower over 80°. But where I live there are the
- 3:18growing season is filled with days over 80° and if you can't
- 3:22thrive in bright sun and strong heat, then forget it.
- 3:26It's not going to work. And they couldn't.
- 3:28And I kept trying to force them into something.
- 3:31And they would grow a nice plant, but they would never
- 3:33flower. That is so frustrating for
- 3:36someone who's growing, like, get the plant and sitting right in
- 3:41front of you. It looks beautiful.
- 3:42It should be able to have something.
- 3:44And then all of a sudden, boom, Nope, it doesn't have anything.
- 3:47No flowers, nothing. And you're just devastated by
- 3:50the fact that you don't know what to do.
- 3:51So you keep fertilizing it, You keep trying different things,
- 3:54but nothing seems to work. Well, it's not just about the
- 3:57fact that you're doing all those things.
- 3:59It's looking at it from the other side as well, so giving up
- 4:05was the right maneuver in that case.
- 4:08Now, when I say giving up, this is where it gets tricky.
- 4:11Did I give up growing flowers? No.
- 4:13Did I give up growing the wrong flowers?
- 4:16Yes. I didn't give up growing
- 4:18flowers. I gave up growing the wrong
- 4:20flowers. And that's the point I want to
- 4:22make with you guys today. Understand you don't have to
- 4:26give up in total, but what you need to recognize is that you've
- 4:30got to give up what's not working or not going in the
- 4:34direction that you want to Do you want it to go because you're
- 4:39forcing something that can't happen.
- 4:41You have to look at all the parameters.
- 4:43So round peg, square hole, that kind of thing.
- 4:47It's really discerning, being incredibly discerning about
- 4:52these facts before you go into it.
- 4:53Now, if I had sat down and done the work ahead of time, I would
- 4:56have recognized that that's not the case.
- 4:59Now I did do that work when I picked chickens because I know
- 5:02it's hot, hot, hot here. So I had to look at chickens,
- 5:06breeds that were good in heat, that could withstand heat, that
- 5:09had the ability to be able to cool down.
- 5:12I don't need to worry about them in the cold, cold because we
- 5:14don't have sub zero cold here. But what I do need to worry
- 5:17about is the heat and by making sure I picked them, I've not
- 5:21lost animals through that. I'm not lost chickens to heat.
- 5:25I've not lost them because I was, you know, uninformed about
- 5:29their personalities. We free range.
- 5:32I didn't pick chickens that don't like to free range.
- 5:34I pick chickens that are good free Rangers for the most part,
- 5:37and the ones that are not good free Rangers, I set them up, The
- 5:41coaches, not great free Rangers, but they stick right next to the
- 5:45coop and they're all set up to win.
- 5:47They have everything they need, the protection, the whole thing.
- 5:50So again, it comes down to knowing those parameters and and
- 5:54being aware of them so that you don't cause yourself to quote,
- 5:57UN quote, give up. You put it into a different
- 6:01frame. OK my friends, I hope you have a
- 6:03blessed day and I'll see you tomorrow.
- 6:05Bye.
