[upbeat music] Ahoy, hoy. Ahoy, hoy. Hoy, hoy. Hoy.
• 0:18
Hey, everybody. It's Full Spectrum Cycling, show number 152. Uh-huh. For which I have no witty repartee for. Sesquicentennial two. We're still in the, uh, sesquicentennial hangover period. Mm. Copy that.
• 0:35
Sesquicentennial. Sesquicentennial. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh, I don't know. Just live in the past for a couple episodes. [laughs] Yeah, yeah. D- that's all you gotta do. Bring it back a couple more. So, uh, yeah, the, the
• 0:51
podcast room got a little grayer over the- Uh-huh... the last week. Easy on the eyes. So, the skies. Yeah, yeah. It's just a couple of minor little spots. What are you doing over there? Coughing.
• 1:00
[laughs] No, but- I need to... We need a cough button. I know. I, you know, it's- It's also because w- I took everything out of here. Very e- echoey [laughs] in here today.
• 1:08
It is kinda echoey, but it does look really, really nice. Yeah. It's gonna be good. Get the curtains up there- Uh-huh... absorb some sound. Get some carpeting down, absorb some sound. We'll be...
• 1:17
Everything will be right with the world at some point. Uh-huh. Yeah. All was right with the world, uh, a couple days ago 'cause it was so nice outside. I can't believe it was 50 on Wednesday. Over 50. It was warm.
• 1:29
It was beautiful. With the constant threat of rain. Rain and snow. It never actually did any of that. No. No. No. But I, I was prepared. I got moist. And sweaty.
• 1:40
Jay, Jay came in in his firefighter outfit or whatever- Yeah. Don't tell. [laughs]... whatever or emergency road crew pants or whatever those were. Yeah, John Deere. They're very yellow. Very, very.
• 1:48
No, well- Do you have a-... but it was gonna hit me on the way... Do you have a top g- ticket that goes with that? Yeah. It's a little much.
• 1:54
[laughs] I didn't notice if you had it on, but you- No, I did not wear it- Okay... on, uh, altogether. It's- We might have to take a picture. We don't have any really pictures from the- [laughs]...
• 2:03
last week of non-cycling, at least on my part. We built some bikes. Yeah, there's some bikes going together down there that look nice. Got a lot of, uh, e-bike conversions going on. Mid-drive. Mid-drive,
• 2:18
750 or 1,000 watts, depends on the model. Nice. Plenty. Yeah. Plenty of watts. I, and that's continuous wattage, not- Right... not peak. Not peak. So, uh, yeah, Steven's been, been busting some hump down there.
• 2:33
That's a good thing. Hopefully, in my dream of dreams, all of those will be out of here by this time next week, and on their way to the final destination of- Right...
• 2:43
whatever customer purchased them, 'cause they're starting to take up a lot of room in the shop. I saw that, uh, saw that some... I have to research and I'll send you the link.
• 2:52
Hopefully I can find it again, that there's a new-ish, uh, mid-drive company making a motor that does 3,000 with 5,000 peak. Wow. And at what point do you not wanna put that in some sort of micro car?
• 3:08
[laughs] I mean- I... It's gonna be tough to put that thing on a bicycle with a normal- Right... you know, chain. Right... whatever, whatever. Right. I mean, holy smokes. But, uh, yeah. Hey, hey, hey, guess what?
• 3:20
I'm gonna push the button over here. Hey, welcome to the radio program caller. Who do we have on the line? Is that, is that Chewy? I can't hear him. Hello? Oh, is this not working? Hey, Chewy. Yeah.
• 3:34
Hey, push some buttons or flip some switches or something, 'cause we can't hear you. [laughs] He just sounded sexy to me for a second. What are you wearing? [laughs] I heard heavy breathing.
• 3:42
I can't hear you guys today for some reason. Bring it... Is that better? I can... Now I can hear you. What do you hear? A little bit. You're breathing heavy. We'll turn you up. Yeah, I can hear you guys.
• 3:50
Well, uh, uh, turn us up on your, on your fancy gizmo over there. I actually love these bikes. You know, I'm totally loving the pedal Chewy's favorite thing in the world now is electric bikes.
• 3:59
He's just gonna go back to the normal. No, it's not working. Oh. Yeah, there's, there's, uh, some- Sorry about that. I-... there's some buttons to push and some things to do. You know, these, these shows are- Yeah.
• 4:08
Well... for the most part done live and, you know, little hiccups are bound to happen. It does. It does. That's why it's live. You were, you were trying to- Or Bluetooth...
• 4:17
trying to make sure you could hear us better was the whole idea there, right? Yeah.
• 4:21
I normally, normally I can hear you guys okay, and I, and I was trying to hook it through my mic and through the RodeCaster just because it's, um... I think the quality's better. But I don't... I, you know, I added,
• 4:34
I added some stuff to this, and it's, doesn't seem to be working quite the way I want it to today. Do you- And I don't know why... do you plug the phone directly in through the phone, uh, part of the board- Yes...
• 4:45
or do you use the Bluetooth? Yes. No, I'm using it through the phone because the Bluetooth doesn't work. The... Do you use it on the phone jack on the front side or the back side? Back side. Back side.
• 4:54
Yeah, that's what I've got it hooked into. I'm gonna try it again just because it's bugging me that I should be able to hear you guys. Which has the- I'll try this one more time here... it has the picture of the phone.
• 5:01
Try it. Yeah. Yep, yep. I'm gonna get the volume turned all the way up on that and the phone jack on there. I don't know why it's not working, but we're gonna try it again just to see. How's it going? Stand by.
• 5:10
We're probably way pillows. Hey, Ron. What's going on? It, uh, it does not have a picture of a phone actually. This is, uh, your t- your tech- It has a picture of you. You can see...
• 5:16
there's a picture of your phone up here. Oh, there you go. It's Tech Hour with, uh, with Ron Moffitt right now. Make sure he's got his volume on that phone thing turned up too. He's clicking, clicking stuff.
• 5:24
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh. Can you guys hear me now? Yeah. Yeah, totally. Yeah. [laughs] That works much better. Yeah. Well, when- Does it sound better? Yeah. Oh, yeah. You sound gorgeous. I think it does. Sorta.
• 5:32
I will say that I think that w- w- when we use the call-in line that you called into, it's, uh, not quite as good as if I just plug this directly into my phone, but then we can't have other people call in, too, or wait in the queue, so.
• 5:47
But today sounds pretty good. Okay. Okay, yeah. Today sounds- Yeah, that sounds better. It sounds better that way. Do you have your cans on, man? Do you have your cans on? [laughs] Do I have a what? Your cans on.
• 5:57
Your, your headphones. They ca- Oh, going nuts. Yep. Yep. And I think the, I think it's- They call them cans for some reason I'm not that fancy.
• 6:03
But it does make it easier to listen to all of you guys talk with those on, too Oh, good. Okay. It's almost like we're in the same room Ra- rather than just through the phone. Yeah, yeah. It does.
• 6:13
It's much better, much better. Hey, Chewy, Chewy's got a, uh... What, what... Tony's pointing around like he's doing something. He's already fucking the show up- [laughs]... and we just, just got started.
• 6:24
Oh, he's, he's get- Oh, looking for the bell... he's, oh, he's, he's getting a, he's getting a beer. Okay. Never mind. Uh- [laughs] So I was gonna listen to your show today.
• 6:35
I'm gonna get to it tomorrow, which was actually yesterday. Okay. Yesterday in internet time. Hopefully we can get that up. I understand that, uh, you had quite a few folks in the studio up there. It was fun.
• 6:46
It was, uh, uh, the whole thing started, we were going to bring a friend of ours. I don't know if you've met Kayla or not. She's, uh, the idea came when she was looking for a bike. She's got quite a stable of bikes.
• 6:56
We'll get into that when, on the broadcast. But, um, she was looking for a bike, and she wanted another fat bike for riding in the dirt, which kinda got me going, "We need to help Kayla buy a bike."
• 7:06
[laughs] And, and then sadly, we talked about, uh, the post, uh, Santa Rampage and a couple other things, and we hardly even talked about buying her a bike. [laughs] Well, there's always another show down the road.
• 7:18
You got a, you got a topic for the next one. Oh, yeah. Hey- I think she fits in well, so she'll be another one that, that jumps in.
• 7:23
Here, [laughs] here's a topic we don't necessarily wanna bring up, but are going to anyway. Trek Bicycle buys Wisconsin Off-Road Series. So WORS is now owned by Trek. No, really? Yes, sir. When did this happen?
• 7:37
Uh, like Wednesday at about 2:00 PM or something. I saw it come across the, the feed. Uh, well, has this been in the works? I would imagine so. Probably. I'm not privy to the inside workings- I, I mean-...
• 7:51
of John Burke and his fantastic organization, but... Is, is Don Edberg, Don Edberg still owns it, right? I don't think so, no. I think he owned it.
• 7:59
I think he retired, and that's probably what precipitated the move to get somebody else.
• 8:02
But I guess the way it's gonna work now is each individual race is owned by the local whatever person, and Trek is going to be the...
• 8:10
It says, "A similar format to previous seasons with independent race owners working alongside overall series leadership." Do, do-do, do-do.
• 8:18
Well, it's gonna be, it's basically going back to how the whole thing started with the Midwest Mountain Bike Point Series, where every individual race was its own, its own animal.
• 8:27
And then Deak and I, and, um, took care of s- um, the scoring, and then everybody ran the races according to how we all, as, as race directors all agreed to do them. So it's basically going back to what it was.
• 8:40
Yeah, and that was what? When did you guys start that Midwest Point Series? '89, '90, something like that. Yeah, I, I don't think I got going on it- I've got, I've got a re-...
• 8:49
till like the mid-'90s is kinda when I got going on that whole thing.
• 8:53
I think I, I think I still have, and I kept them on purpose, I still have Deak's, you know, printout of results, uh, point series results from '90, '91, I think, which would've been, um, seven races probably.
• 9:10
Did you have- Which two of them were La Crosse, by the way... did you have a dot matrix printer back then? [laughs] Yes. [laughs] Well, he did. I didn't have one. Yes.
• 9:19
You know- He's still sitting on a ream of that damn paper. Right? Well. I had- It burns well. It was always fun to do, go to a race and, and, and, uh, we used, we used our pop-up camper.
• 9:30
And Deak and I literally stood outside guard to make sure that none of them idiot riders would come in and bother Sue as she was tabulating points. Just stay the fuck away if you were smart- [laughs]...
• 9:40
'cause she'd kill you. [laughs] Good stuff. You know, those, uh, I think those- Yeah... dot matrix printer mechanisms have a new life as, like, 3D printers or something. Yeah. It's interesting. Well, that's hilarious.
• 9:52
I mean, where- Repurposed... that's hilarious. When I worked for the recycler, they went for big money. It was surprising. Yeah.
• 9:58
So, well, we've got the, uh, we've got the official t- 2022 race schedule up here if anybody wants to take a look at that. I imagine- Natural...
• 10:05
that'll be at, uh, you know, trekbikes.com now slash WORS or whatever it's gonna be. Maybe they'll have- Well, you know-... a new site...
• 10:14
if it, if it, if, if Trek is just, like, the major sponsor and, and using them as a clearing house for information, that's not all that horrible. The race is going back to the individual races again. I like that. Yeah.
• 10:25
Well, we'll give it a go. We'll see what happens. I just, I, I got out of WORS very, probably early 2000 just 'cause it got so huge. And we return it back to you.
• 10:34
It became not as fun to be around- And, and, you know, look-... 1,000 people on a weekend... it's not, it's, um, how do I wanna put it? It's, when you got up over 500 racers, it became a lot of work.
• 10:48
Up to 500 it was, like, work, but it was somewhat enjoyable. Anything over 500 became way too much work. I think Tony got to the top of the hill ahead of us somehow on his e-bike, 'cause he's dinging the dinger.
• 11:01
[laughs] S- So, so-... daintily pushing the buttons... well, we'll talk about beer real quick, because now I guess we're at the top of the hill. [laughs] JK brought, uh, Great Dane Brewing's Good Dog IPA.
• 11:14
Who's a good dog? Who's a good dog? I assume this is from Madison, right? Yes. At the Pub & Brewing right by the Majestic Theatre. They do have multiple locations that do similar breweries, but somewhat...
• 11:26
Did you eat there, too? I think that's... Yeah. Oh. Oh, that's a crisp, easy-to-drink 5.6%. Yeah. It's a pretty nice beer. It's very delicious. Very tasty. May I ask what you had?
• 11:34
I had the jerk chicken sandwich with the mashed potatoes. Oh. [laughs] Chewy, what are, what are you, uh, what are you drinking over there? Uh, sadly, I, I'm standing at, at attention to the national anthem.
• 11:47
I'm watching a hockey game, um, that I'm leaving in, like, five minutes to go watch.
• 11:52
Um, it's the end of the high school season, and one of the teams that we might possibly play in section championship is playing in town, so I don't get to drink until, eh, it's gonna be- Well, I gotta play hockey, so I'm not gonna probably get to start drinking till about 11 o'clock tonight Well- Damn it...
• 12:09
it's not like, uh- I can't really-... it won't be waiting for you...
• 12:11
I, it's, it's really rough to go to a- [laughs] Well, it's like, it's really rough to, rough to walk into a game, a high school game with beer on your breath and then have to go up and talk to your athletic director.
• 12:20
It's not a smart move. [laughs] No. Right, right. [laughs] So, uh, uh, Olympic hockey's been a little interesting this year. What do you think? Um, last night was a real bummer.
• 12:30
It was funny that you wanted to talk about this before, um, they lost out. Those, um... The dogs are barking, so my doorbell's going off. It was my dog. [laughs] Yeah, I heard it. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I heard that.
• 12:43
[laughs] Um, um, I, the US team lost, uh, in a shootout, which as a goaltender pisses you off because hockey's a game, a team sport, not a, a skills competition.
• 12:55
So most goalies can't stand shootouts, which since I'm a goalie, I can't stand them. Um, it's a horrible way to lose a game.
• 13:01
And especially, um, the USA team had gone into, um, the knockout round, so it's basically pool play.
• 13:08
So you play a, a bunch of teams and then that determines your placing, and then after that it's like an eight-team single elimination tournament.
• 13:15
So they lost out the first round of that because of a shootout, which is bullshit if you ask me. Yeah. But, um, I'm, I'm one of the ones that really liked the US team this year because it was back to college guys.
• 13:27
Yeah, for sure. Um, and, and, and there's... And you would be amazed at the number of people that refuse to watch it because of that. Bullshit.
• 13:35
They think it should be, they think it should be all the, the top, and it should be the top, your best hockey players from your nation. So it'd be all NHL and KHL from the European league.
• 13:45
It'd be all their top players should be the ones that are in it. And I'm, I don't know. Yeah.
• 13:49
I guess I'm a 1980 Olympic team guy 'cause I know some of those kids that were on that team and, and so I, that's, that's my passion.
• 13:57
I like it better when the college guys are in there and it's an amateur sport as far as I'm concerned. Right. Yeah. I agree. I think overall professional athletes have ruined the Olympics pretty much. Yeah, well, yeah.
• 14:06
That and money of course. Of course. Well, but don't you think basketball was the one that started the demise of- Yep... everybody despising the pros being in it where the US, the NHL or the NFL guys- Dream team...
• 14:19
NFL team- NBA guys... NBA guys were in there- Yes... just absolutely killing everybody? Yeah. Yeah. It was ridiculous. That's not fun.
• 14:25
I mean, the one thing about the w- w- s- well, I think hockey's even more so is that there's a lot of NF- N- [laughs] N- uh, just sports team guys- [laughs]...
• 14:35
from other countries that play, uh, both basketball and, um, and hockey. But not so much football, so but that's not an Olympic sport anyway. Yeah. But- But it's, um- Yeah... I, it's, I...
• 14:46
You know, and then, and then if you, and then if you wanna bring up women's, women's is really cool because it, it is a center stage for the best women in the world to get together and play hockey against each other.
• 14:55
So the women's one is kinda cool. Yeah. And, and tonight's Canada versus, uh- Wednesday... US for the gold medal. Yeah. Wednesday night that was, right? [laughs] We don't know who won yet, though. Yeah.
• 15:06
Even two days later it's, it's still- Oh... it, it, it's still in some kind of- I think it-... turmoil. [laughs] You better say. No, it's gonna start at 11 o'clock tonight, and that'll be live I think.
• 15:15
11 o'clock two days ago. At least that's what I've been watching the other ones- [laughs]... so I'm assuming that's when it is, but I could be wrong. Yeah, yeah. I get it.
• 15:23
I'll, uh, if, if you want I can call- It's, it's difficult living in internet time. [laughs] Yeah, I can- And, and Olympic time... if you didn't like I can call you and let you know. No. Yeah.
• 15:31
Well, it'll be on when I get home I'm sure, hopefully. Yeah. Yeah. It'll, it'll be, it'll be, it, it should be a good game. T- They, they don't like each other from what they're, and that's their- Hate.
• 15:41
Hate was the word-... that's their, um-... I saw on the news last-... selling point right now is- Them damn Canadians, you know? Eh. Well, they got their b- I, I, I-...
• 15:48
they got their bl- bridge blocking ways up there going on, so, you know, it's like- Yeah. The, the best is I p- I play hockey with a guy tonight, and he's, he was, we're, he's Canadian.
• 15:59
And he's a great guy, but he's not that savvy on certain things. And so we were talking about the fact that I drive the Zamboni, and he's just like, "Yeah, so you're driving a vehicle that we make for you?"
• 16:10
And I go, "No, Canada did not make- [laughs]... the Zamboni. It was a dude in California that did." And that just, his jaw just hit the floor.
• 16:18
He might as, he might just as well defect now because he was, he was so depressed. [laughs] Everything I was born and bred on has been a lie. [laughs] Yeah, yeah.
• 16:29
Just, just tore his heart right out to find out that a Californian made the Zamboni. [laughs] Oh. That's a fun fact too, though. That's a Californian, eh? Yeah. Yeah. Defected from Canada first. It is cool. It is.
• 16:41
Hey, I know we're not supposed to show pict- There's a- I know we were not supposed to show pictures of this until Friday the 26th I think, but did you get your State Bicycle newsletter today from the, the dealer source of State Bicycle and their new collaboration?
• 16:55
Oh, no, I haven't seen it yet. I d- actually, I haven't opened it up yet. I have to look at it. Well, I'm not gonna, we can't show pictures until I think next week or whenever the date is, but...
• 17:03
And I'm not even sure if we're supposed to say what the collaboration is, but I'm gonna ask one question of Tony, and then we'll know what the collaboration is. [laughs] Oh.
• 17:10
What's that park across the street from the old shop called on Locust Street? Wu-Tang. There might be some sort of collaboration with- Oh, I'm in... Wu-Tang and State Bicycle. [laughs] That one, I'm all in.
• 17:22
I am all in on that. We're not gonna show pictures- That's genius... until they say we can. It specifically said in the email, "Do not release images until..." whatever date it was. No.
• 17:31
So I don't think they did say we couldn't say something about it. But they did, they did- Molly's gonna kill me if I buy another bike this year... they, they did, uh, move the farmer's market from said park- Yeah...
• 17:40
to a different location. Pierce. Yeah. Pierce Street. That's true. Yes. It doesn't- So... change the fact that that's still called Wu-Tang Park. [laughs] I know. It's Garden Park technically. Are you gonna-
• 17:50
  Yeah, they're pretty cool. I, I- I'm just muddying the waters... I, I- I'm muddying the waters.
• 17:54
[laughs] I would go ahead and, and, and go through my email and just, 'cause there's some, there, there's gonna be some cool stuff there. I, uh...
• 18:01
And as dealers we can pre-order them, so I think that may be on my docket for yesterday.
• 18:07
[laughs] I would buy one now, but- I left my wallet in El Segundo And you haven't finished paying for the other bike you bought, so [laughs] Look, here's what I have to do.
• 18:14
I'm gonna have to give- I can pay for that I'm gonna have to give Seth a call and have him resend it because I think I deleted it. Oh, boy. I'm getting a bunch of the, um, a bunch of ads for other...
• 18:24
I get, I get as a dealer and then also not as a dealer. I get as a, um, as a customer, too. So I get two different ones from them, so I, I think I'm deleting them all just out of being lazy. Yeah.
• 18:34
Well, you know what I don't like about- So I'll give it a look... working with any of these,
• 18:39
uh, dealer versus consumer websites, is when your stupid browser is cookie-ville, then sometimes it doesn't know whether you're a customer or a dealer.
• 18:48
So I have to keep a separate browser just for dealers and just for being the consumer side. Oh, maybe that's what's happened. 'Cause then- It could very well be...
• 18:58
uh, especially when you're on their wholesale site and then you see, you know, dealer pricing versus retail- Right... it's like, "Well, well, I went, but what..." Are you using incognito windows or are you just using...
• 19:07
I'm sorry, I'm nerding out. I'm sorry. Do I have a window? I, uh- This is- Did you, did you jump out and buy, um, from BSW, did you go out and buy the, uh, five-pack of, of headphones? That's what we did.
• 19:19
Because that, that seems like a- When we originally started, we got the Audio-Technicas when they had a deal. I think there was four of them at that time. But that f- that five-pack is, yeah, it's a pretty good deal.
• 19:28
Yeah. It's not like everybody needs headphones- No, that was a great deal... all over the place, but that's a pretty good deal. Yeah, but, you know, we get...
• 19:34
When we get an extra person in here, and then this, like say Spinner calls in or you call in, then you only get part of the conversation, so having an extra set for somebody just to listen is actually kinda nice.
• 19:45
Yeah, 'cause and you could even Y-splitter it or do whatever you want to, or plug a headphone amp in and have as many as you want for the peanut gallery.
• 19:55
Uh, but I did that and I picked, I picked one of those up, too, just to make...
• 19:57
I mean, it was, I mean, for 100 and a half, I've got five new headsets and a way to adapt four of them in, so it's kind of a nice setup, actually. Nice. Yeah. Yeah.
• 20:06
You tend to get more in-studio guests than we do at this point. [laughs] But that will change. Speaking- Well, yeah. Well, it's, the b- I can only wait until like summer that I can make them sit outside.
• 20:17
The cord's are long enough, just go sit outside so we can talk. Would you please? [laughs] Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
• 20:22
Hey, guess what we're gonna have to do here at the old, uh, C and D complex, former Globe Union/Johnson Controls? Move our shop again. What's that? Gonna have to move the shop again. No, what happened?
• 20:35
Well, i- I think it's gonna be in our best interest, but there's also another tenant that wants to take over a lot more space, and we're gonna be in the same- Can I still have the doors?
• 20:45
Basically, I would call it the same building even, but really it's three separate buildings. But we, we're just gonna have to push our stuff um, 500 feet to the north [laughs]
• 20:54
and bu- and build out again, which is gonna be super great since we've already built out like five spots in this freaking place. [laughs] Are you leaving an access- Are you guys like, are you like-...
• 21:02
or can I buy some of them doors? I don't know. We're gonna see. Are you getting r- are you getting reimbursed for all the work you do on those places? Oh, hell no. Yeah. No, I'm wasting- Next guy moves in...
• 21:11
I, dude, I'm wasting money hand over fist, and besides, we can't really be totally open until all this shit's done, so I'm losing money like I can't imagine how much.
• 21:20
If it weren't for certain, [laughs] I don't know- If it weren't for that bike... things that happened, I would be, like, uh, living outside on the curb right outside the shop, so.
• 21:31
[laughs] Yeah, it has not been a financially viable long-term situation, [laughs] if it keeps going this way. Oh. Oh. No. Oh, no. Oh, no. No. Definitely not. We must call in the Polly Army then. No.
• 21:46
I'm not trying to be a whiner- We gotta pay. Oh... but geez, you know, when people don't give you any kind of plan for the future, you're like, "Well, how do I keep doing this then?"
• 21:55
It, it's nice for the company or the place that you own it, that, that there's enough interest that people are expanding and moving into the place.
• 22:01
However, don't you wanna have, take care, a little bit of loyalty to your people that helped you get started? Yeah. Right. Well, the, yeah. Right.
• 22:07
So but we're gonna be able to have a garage door and a ground-level entrance instead of st- Oh... stumbling down two stairs- Oh, we're going north... and a couple other- Oh, wow... stupid things.
• 22:18
Yeah, the very northest- We're going north? Yeah, that'll be nice... of the thing going north. Oh. It'll be better.
• 22:22
And I, you know, I'm still, uh, holding out for a big fat check to make me wanna move, 'cause I have a three-year lease on where I am now. It's like, well,
• 22:32
if you don't make it worth my while, I don't see why- That's right... I'm putting my tennis shoes on. [laughs] Right. Right. So. All right.
• 22:38
I hate to do this to you guys, but I have to go because my game is starting and I've got a 15-minute drive yet, so- All right. You could ride the electric bike... I will, uh, talk to you guys.
• 22:46
Yeah, then you could talk to us for five more minutes. [laughs] I- You shut your game off. [laughs] See you, Chewy. Thank you for calling in, buddy. I, we will, we will get your show up shortly.
• 22:57
Talk to you guys next week. All right, pal. Bye. Thanks. All right, see you guys. Bye. Bye, guys. Oh, that was a total Chewy burn. [laughs] Ah. Just one parting shot across the bow.
• 23:10
See, well, that's, so this is one of those things about e-bikes is they, they basically either let you go further or give you more time. It depends on which one you want. Right.
• 23:18
So if you have a half an hour, you can get twice as far, or- Or you could-... if you have the same distance, you can get there twice as fast. I totally like that. So it's like almost a time machine.
• 23:29
It is, it is truly- Almost... it, yeah. I, I love riding an e-bike once in a while. Baby maker, too. Did it... [laughs] Doesn't it have more battery capacity?
• 23:43
I, yeah, they're claiming more battery capacity, so more baby making, I guess. I can't believe people- They've added more sperm... tho- those guys amaze me- I, it's just, it's all-...
• 23:51
in, in how they've made so much money on it. It's all hype and- All marketing and hype... yeah. It's like, holy shit. Well, I'm kinda privy to that in certain situations around here- Oh... for certain bikes, so.
• 24:01
But- I feel it... I mean, they are selling thousands of these things at two grand a piece. Yeah, well, the deal, uh, have, the... Yeah. I know. I know. You know? For, you know, i- if that battery-
• 24:17
Hopefully it's serviceable. If not, it's a throwaway bike. Yeah, for two grand, who cares? Me. [laughs] Hey, did you know in other beer news we didn't talk about yet? No, what?
• 24:29
There's the Third Space Double Dip release party on 2/22/22. Oh. Whoa. What day is that? I think it's a Tuesday. Huh. And where is this at? Sorry, I missed this. Third Space. Oh, nice. Uh- Nice. Okay...
• 24:44
yeah, the Double Dip. St- and what is it? The St. Paul one? It's some kind of double, something dipped hops in a double hopped pipe. Oh. It sounds very dangerous to me- Mm... but.
• 24:56
[laughs] Doesn't Andrew's wife work down there? Yeah. [laughs] Can't we get, like, sample packs to bring home? Andrew? Maybe, maybe a growler or two. Andrew, this is where I...
• 25:06
This is the reason I texted you and told you to listen to this podcast. So if you could, please. Growler or fiver. Work some magic. Right? Then come to the podcast, 'cause you've been away too long. So I can't...
• 25:19
Yeah, that's true. We haven't actually seen him for a while. I want an update on his, on his fun on his e-bike. Yeah. That would be good. Yeah. Andrew.
• 25:28
I did not notice this except that both the Snow Crown series and the Huge Ass series have their final events coming up in the next weekend or two weekends from now. Whoa. Or weekend later.
• 25:41
So th- we've already wasted, I don't know, almost the whole winter. Yeah. And not, and not had any snow. And not had any winter. We've not had any winter [laughs] yeah. Well, a- and February has not really February-ied.
• 25:50
No. I've- No... I've been... Oh, no. [laughs] It's, I'm just, like, looking at the calendar and- My boss is coming back from California, and I'm really hoping for a February, you know,
• 26:03
20 degrees below zero and a wind chill of, like, another 25. I, I mean, there's enough time for that. I know. It has- For something to drop.
• 26:10
Yeah, it's gotta- But I mean, I'm not- I want him getting off the, the airplane from LA- LA... and, and have it be, you know, frigidly, brutally cold. Mm-hmm.
• 26:23
It would serve him right for coming to Wisconsin in the winter. Well, he's gotta come in and do a phone installation. It'd be cold as fuck. Okay. Uh... Hey, guess what? 93QFM's back. Oh, yeah.
• 26:35
David Lee, you can hear him talking about Sundays and your balls resonating as the monster truck jam and grave digger. Yeah. [laughs] Did you listen to the stream at all? Not yet.
• 26:52
You gotta try it because- [laughs] I'm just, I waited... he says, "93QFM." Oh, you remember that well. Yeah, yeah. Oh, geez. Yep. Whoopsies. "Listen, my name is David Fucking Lee."
• 27:03
I will tell you that at least to my ear- [laughs]... it sounds like I'm playing it on an AM radio in my old, uh, '68 Dodge Polara. The fidelity on the Live 365 is not fantastic.
• 27:13
Maybe it's a paid service that you can get, like, better fidelity if you- I was excited for the 102. Yeah, Hot 102 also. But it was Hot 102. Yeah, it's not- That was like, that was the duh. Yeah.
• 27:24
I came in the one- Are they doing original recordings?
• 27:28
Well, it's not like they recorded the show and they're playing it back verbatim, but they're certainly playing period music, and they've got lots of, uh, low- But, uh-... low gravelly voices that are talking on it.
• 27:38
It's- They might, uh, they might have just bad recordings or something. I don't know. That... I'm not sure what the whole thing is. Yeah, it could be a paid for. I just, it's QFM. I love that place. Yeah. Mm-hmm.
• 27:45
Well, I, I'm just trying to think, because it was 93, and that got swallowed up by Shamrock- Mm-hmm... and got shot in all... When, what was it? Uh, Willie Davis. Willie, Willie, Willie. Yep.
• 27:59
So I mean, it, like, okay, when it became smooth jazz, 93, [laughs] they were the studio directly across the hall from us, so it was odd. So Hot 102- To say the least...
• 28:12
was more of your, uh, hip hop and urban sound, right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. At the time, but I was there when it was- So we, so we could- Right after, when it was rock alt try to do...
• 28:20
we may have had some of that Wu-Tang Clan on there. Maybe. Maybe. No. [laughs] Hey, let's get poli- let's get political and think about, uh, Tuesday's primary election. Bathroom Bob back in the news. Yes.
• 28:35
[laughs] I cannot believe that. The guy keeps going back to the urinal. [laughs] Bob Donovan is one of the people running for mayor who made the- The runoff... the runoff. And Bob Donovan was arrested for watching men
• 28:51
entertain each other- In the bathroom... in the bathroom at UWM. So he's one of the two runoffs? Mm-hmm. He's one of the two runoffs. Who is this? Him and Cavalier Johnson, who- I like Cavalier.
• 28:59
[laughs] He's a very bright young man who has- I-... grown up in the inner city of Milwaukee. Yeah, he, he- I like Cavalier. I hope he wins. I can't vote, 'cause I don't live in the actual city of Milwaukee.
• 29:10
Oh, there you go. Okay. Same, same. He, um, yeah, he's, um- I could maybe vote by proxy and cheat a little bit. You, you wanna rent my apartment? Yeah, I'll rent your house. [laughs] That's where my address...
• 29:20
I think he's gonna win- Yeah... anyway, so. Uh, he did get a big chunk of the vote. Yeah, yeah, and he's only 35 years old. If you're old and Polish, you're voting for Bob Donovan. I'm not old, nor Polish.
• 29:31
I am old and Polish, but I'm still not voting for Bob Donovan. [laughs] Beep, burp. Yeah. Sorry, I'm done now. I just bring that up- Oh... 'cause it bugged me so bad.
• 29:40
Wait, let me, let me grab this, let me grab the soapbox away. It bugged me so bad. Oh. There we go. I did wanna bring this up just 'cause you're such a Chrome guy. OS Flex, are you familiar with this now? Mm-mm.
• 29:53
I can take my old Macintoshes and turn them into Chromebooks with this now operating system that will- Why?... run on them. Why? I know. [laughs] It's exactly what I said. Why?
• 30:03
Well, because they don't really do anything anymore. It's... Is it a USB stick? You could do it that way just- Yeah... to test it out, but you can actually install it on any Intel- Based... based machine...
• 30:13
Apple product? Any, anything. Yeah. Anything, Windows, whatever. Which, which version is it called? It's called ChromeOS Flex. I have a link- Okay, okay... in the show notes to that. I did not add one thing to the notes.
• 30:22
I do like the USB stick bootable Chromium operating systems, because you can literally, like- You could travel.
• 30:30
Like, if you were doing some sort of extended travel, you could plug this into a USB port, especially a USB S- you know, 3 port, boot this into a full-blown operating system with your email and everything else on it, conduct your business, shut the machine down, pull the USB ca- uh,
• 30:47
stick out, and leave. And there will be no trace of you on that- And you were never there. You were never there. It's just- Not- It's- So the browser's running on your stick and everything?
• 30:55
E- everything's running on the stick. Well, I like the stick stuff's basically- With, with USB C- 3.0 and, and especially USB-C, the, the, the performance is so incredible that it's basically a little PC.
• 31:06
We have that, but we call it Thunderbolt. I know. I know. [laughs] It's okay. It's okay. In other biking news. Viking news? Biking. Biking. Viking Biking from Viking- Vi- Viking Cruise Lines.
• 31:17
And Viking- You're not gonna talk about the single speed text ass, are you? No. Oh. The Toad returns. [gasps] They did say that. Lucky number 13. Saw that today. Toad returns to Downer. Tour of America's Dairyland.
• 31:30
Tour of America's Dairyland. Ooh, we did it in chorus. Ah. [singing] It's a good race down there. Uh, it'll be interesting because they threw in- Remember the race where the turkey kept walking around? They- Yeah...
• 31:42
they threw in Brady Street, and I don't know how they're going to- Oh, they'll figure it out. Oh, I can see that. They can do that. I just, I'm gonna guess- I can see that... a triangle...
• 31:50
I can already see a Brady Street course, for sure. Yep. They're gonna go nor- they're gonna go south and wrap around. Yeah, r- yeah, through Warren- It'll, it'll be easy... blah, blah, blah. Yeah.
• 31:58
Right past Nomad, Brady, over to- Just before the tracks Well, if they just shut down. Franklin or something. If they just shut down- Just before the tracks. They'll shut down. Before tracks. We're gonna- The tracks.
• 32:08
Oh, the tracks. [laughs] The, the, the, uh, tracks that the, uh, the, uh, thing rides, the hop rides on. Well, it's only gotta be a mile, so that seems like you're already making it too easy.
• 32:17
Oh, yeah, they aren't even going that far. No. They aren't going anywhere. They're gonna go around that, that hairpin- Well, it was supposed to be-... right by Tina's Groceries or whatever- Yep, yep...
• 32:23
and go down Franklin and come back down- Yep... and you're done. Yep. Your course is a triangle. Don't worry about it. Yeah, yeah. Well, we'll find out. It'll be interesting. It'll be cool. Place some odds on that too.
• 32:31
That'll be a, a- yeah, that... And actually, that weekend is gonna be good because it's Thursday at Brady, Friday in Shorewood, Saturday at Downer, and then Sunday in Tosa. That's like four- Is that June or July?
• 32:43
That is June. End of June. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, I, it's great when professional bike races come to Milwaukee- Yeah. Right. Absolutely... especially in the summer, and- We get to heckle... that's also- [laughs]...
• 32:53
you know, the one of, one of the three weekends of SummerFest, which irritate the shit out of me. Also, Cheap Trick's coming back. Oh, that'd be cool. With Rod Stewart, though, so. Wait, not with Cheap Trick?
• 33:07
Cheap Trick's opening for Rod Stewart. Oh, well, that's okay. Although they may play together, because- No, Rod Stewart is gonna be the new front man. That's what I was afraid of- Supergroup... what was happening.
• 33:14
I think he might open for Cheap Trick in- Oh, Jesus, God, no... actual rock and roll lore. [laughs] [singing] Tonight's the night. All right. Holy cow. Thanks very much, everybody.
• 33:26
Uh, I think we, I think we, uh, overstayed our welcome. [singing] Hey, thanks, thanks, Chewy. Probably gonna try and get that show up, hopefully- Sam didn't call in-... be- before this one's up... 'cause Sam's a dick.
• 33:36
Sam didn't call in? No. I asked him to call in. Went from Mexico, but he didn't 'cause he's a dick. Maybe he, maybe he doesn't know the time difference, even though- I sent it to him... it's the same time- I know...
• 33:45
as we're in. [laughs] Sam, I know you never listen to the podcast, so I'm calling you an asshole. You're an asshole. Hey, he's an asshole. All right.
• 33:53
Thanks, everybody, for, uh, spending your hard-earned half hour with us. We'll be back next week. Probably with a less echoey room, I hope.
• 34:03
  [singing] [outro music]
