- 0:02[rock music] [imitates guitar] [rock music] Hey, welcome everybody to the Full Spectrum Cycling, show number 275.
- 0:32Mm. Yeah. As you note, I put it in there, the fun fact. Oh. The word for the 275th anniversary is the, okay, gulp. You gulp. One shot. I haven't said this out loud once. I've just done it in my head.
- 0:48Bicentennialquagenary. Say- Bicentennialquagenary. Say it again. Bicentennialquagenary. Who the hell even took the time to think that up? I think you got that one down pat.
- 1:05[clears throat] All right, so- Or we could just say 275. We- Holy hell, that would... Yeah. We'll have, we'll have to revisit that at the end of the show just to make sure we got it- That hurts... again.
- 1:15So today we got, uh, Tony. There he is. Steel Is Real shirt on, on T-Burger over there. Uh, JK Livin's back from Florida. Hello, hello. And, uh, we're playing with the, uh, the Gizmotron here.
- 1:30Ken Keen says it's gonna be easy to be the guy that's the guy, so when you're talking you're like, "Oh yeah, I should just put it on me 'cause I'm, like, talking now." See it's red, green, nothing over here. Oh.
- 1:40Are you guys... Okay, wait. Okay. Now we're- Now it's on you guys. See how that works? Whoa. Hey. And then there's all of us, "Hey, everybody." Hello there. "How's it going?" Look at that. They just change like that.
- 1:48It's like magic. I know. It's kind of weird. How, how's that- It actually works really well. Or like '60s television time, like, "Okay, where, where is, where's my teleprompter?"
- 1:57I'm just thinking it's not as easy as somebody thinks to be both yapping and also button pushing. Sounds like it. I wouldn't do it. No, no. I'll just yap. Yeah, you just yap and don't worry about it. Sounds like a plan.
- 2:11So, uh, Florida. How was Florida, JK? Florida. Florida. Groovy, very groovy. What was the, uh, highlight of the trip? Right there. Max Club Deuce is the most... Yeah, it's a nice dive bar.
- 2:30Uh, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM happy hour, two for one drinks. Wow. Normally they clock in at $6, six to $8 for a beer or a cocktail, whatever. Is that, like- [clears throat]... South Beach area? Yes, 14th Street.
- 2:45And I have- Other- I have no idea anything- Well, it's 14-... about- Like, it's like 16th-... Miami at all, so... 16th to Fifth is South Beach and whatever. And they have like...
- 2:53They, they shut down the street kind of a la State Street. Okay. No vehicular traffic for about- Copy... like four of the blocks, which is kind of cool in a way, I guess, but whatever. They have a, you know, nice...
- 3:08They do have very, some very robust protected bike lanes- Okay... that- Well, you got a bunch of old people that don't how to drive. Well, yeah. Yeah. [laughs] Oh, yeah. And everybody didn't know how to drive.
- 3:22I, I mean, I was- Well, kind of- I, I was a nervous passenger for a long time. What was the best food you had? [sighs] The sandwich is right across the street from said deuce, the La, La Sandwicheria. Oh.
- 3:32They just have good food. And I had some French food, and I had a Cuban, of course. Yeah. And it was good. Um, but- Did you get the Maya one? I got the sandwich, the Frita Cubana. Yeah.
- 3:45I like the idea more than I got the execution on it. Gotcha. So I'm gonna just make it myself and then just eat it in the [laughs] confines of my house- Mm-hmm... with the shades drawn. I kind of equate... I don't know.
- 3:58I've only been to Florida a couple times, and it's been many years, and I don't really have any reason to go back. Nope. Mm. But I sort of equate the driving in Florida with driving in Vegas, where- Yeah...
- 4:09nobody's really from there. Right. It's more like they come from every city, and they're the shittiest drivers from that particular city- Yes... and then they end up in your town in Florida- Mm...
- 4:19and now you have a cluster fuck of 50 different states- Yeah, it sounds bad... of people that don't know how to drive. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 4:24And, yeah, and you can't trust, like, the license plate because they're all on rentals. Right. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. Or, oh, there was a place that had exotic car rentals, and I was very intrigued by that.
- 4:34That's big in Vegas. You can get a Lamborghini- Yeah... or a Ferrari. There were some f- yeah, yeah, yeah. There, yeah, there were some, like- Yeah... definitely d- definite opulence flexing around at times.
- 4:46Well, the, for, you know, what if you're down there for a couple of days and you spend 500 bucks a day on a car- Yeah... and you look like you're Mr. Big Shot? The, the running, the running joke- There was some weird...
- 4:54Yeah... in my high school was if you wanted to be the person at the class reunion, you'd rent a Porsche. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
- 5:00You'd go to the class reunion, you'd leave the lights on, and then when they would call it in, like, "So-and-so, your Porsche, your lights are on," you'd be like, "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry." [laughs] Yeah.
- 5:08[laughs] And then you'd walk out to look like the big guy that has the Porsche- That's good. I like that... when you really just rented it for 100 bucks. All right.
- 5:13So in California for my prom actually did have a Porsche because I worked at a Porsche shop for my senior year. And we had a 1975, so it's a little older, 930 Turbo, green, beautiful, big huge tail. Nice.
- 5:28And the guy that owned the shop, his name was Alex, Alex's Porsche House. He goes, "You're going to prom, huh?" I'm like, "Yep." He's like, "Uh, why don't you take the 930?" I go, "Huh?"
- 5:37He goes, "I only got one request, one request: Don't fuck it up." [laughs] I'm like, "All right, Alex." That's a car that you can fuck up, too. Yeah.
- 5:46I mean- Well, yeah, I mean, y- you probably could, but c- certainly not when your boss is telling you, [laughs] "Don't fuck it up." Right, right, right. Yeah. I, there was a lot of good Alex stories.
- 5:54I wish the guy was still around because he was always all about basically fucking with the Ferrari shop, the other Porsche shops, and it, and it's like they traded parts and did all this stuff, and we had a-
- 6:061963, I think, VW Bus that had a flat six in it. Nice. But it was the, it was the pickup version of it. All sorts of good stuff. The Combi. It was very fast. The Combi version, yeah. Unsafe to drive with that much power.
- 6:18Unsafe. One of my- Absolutely... it's one of my favorite YouTube videos. It's an Aston Martin and something else racing, I think the Nuremberg and...
- 6:29Oh, it's a, it- it's a Porsche and an Aston Martin, and they're going back and forth between each other, and then in the Porsche rear view mirror, you see what appears to be a VW Bus.
- 6:39And then it's no longer in the rear view mirror, and now the Aston Martin's looking at it, and it's out the windshield. The thing is so ungodly fast, it's absolutely incredible.
- 6:49[laughs] It's like, how can you drive that vehicle that fa- I mean, you're driving like this. No. You know?
- 6:54See, they must have done something to the s- to, to the geometry of the steering or something, 'cause they were not made to go more than 60 miles- Right... an hour. Right. Right.
- 7:01This is doing way more than 60 miles an hour. Yeah. Yeah, there, we, we had a, we had a V8 swap, uh, 911. We had a rotary swap 912, which was- Ooh... really fun. Oh, yeah. A 13B rotary. Yeah.
- 7:13Lots of good s- lots of good, fun cars. Uh, when you're a used Porsche shop, you don't have to worry about the, the fatherland coming down on you- Right... for not having the proper, uh, proportion in your Porsche.
- 7:24Pro-Porsche. Pro-Porsche. [laughs] Pro-Porsche. They should call it that. Uh- All right.
- 7:31So everybody at, JK just escaped before Milton is gonna hit down there at the, uh- Yeah, I got right in the r- I was, like, right in the slot there.
- 7:38Yeah, you're right, you're right in the path of- Like, right after Helena, or Helene. Um- Helene. Helena... Helene, something like that. One of those. Yeah. One of those women.
- 7:46And then Milton believing, uh, stole a stapler or something. [laughs] Coming in hot. Rrr, and you, it, I, I ordered a, I ordered a- It was, it was, it was yet to be determined...
- 7:57I, I definitely ordered a Mai Tai, and you gave me a b- b- b- Pina Colada. You're burning the building down. [laughs] So, uh- No, right, right in the sweet spot. I was like, "Eh."
- 8:06So one of the, one of the people or places that got hit in North Carolina, which kinda, I was a little bit like, "For real? North Carolina, way up in the mountains? How the hell did that happen?" Asheville.
- 8:16Because they're 250 miles from the coast- The-... basically, or whatever. A couple hundred miles. Um, Steve Garn from Brew Racing Frames in, he's in Boone, which is right outside. He got hit real hard.
- 8:32They lo- they had a bridge from the road over a creek to their house. His, his powder coating shop got flooded, his production shop, their house. They're in pretty rough shape.
- 8:43Um, i- if you're a cyclist and you know anything about Brew, they've been around for 40 years, make some of the greatest frames. Frame building school, all sorts of good stuff. Steve Garn, awesome guy.
- 8:55If you can help out, there's a couple links in the show notes to both a, uh, PayPal link and also a GoFundMe thing. Um, they're, they're not like, "Hey, y- we're, you know, we're destitute.
- 9:07We gotta, you guys gotta help us." But it's like, "If you can, you can. If you can't, you know, there's plenty of other people down that way for sure that need help."
- 9:14When I saw what happened to Asheville, I messaged Colucci and said, "Hey, what's going on with the Illuminati?" Oh, yeah. And he sent me a flyby video and said, "The Illuminati's on the island in Asheville.
- 9:26Bridge is gone." Wow. "So no one can get there." Oh, shit. [laughs] Get a boat. Well, you can canoe to it, but you have no power. Yeah. So what's the point? Wow. Yeah, I was devastated.
- 9:36Well, I, you know, it, it- Hello, Milwaukee... so, you know, Milwaukee, awesome.
- 9:41Pretty much, if you wanna be in the epicenter of the places where it's not gonna get fucked with by weather, we're- You're pretty okay here... in a pretty good spot. We're, we're pretty okay here.
- 9:48But, uh, Asheville is definitely a spot I'm thinking, "Well, maybe I'll spend a few m- c- few months a year down there when I, you know, when Wendy retires, I retire, whatever."
- 9:56Because there's such an awesome bike culture down there. Mm-hmm. And it just, it's, it's a beautiful place, and, uh, now it's kinda moist. That's an understatement. So yeah.
- 10:07Anyway, I mean, I'm sure everybody probably knows somebody down that way, and everybody- Oh... probably is helping all they can.
- 10:13But if you can, it's in the show notes, brewracingframes.com, and also, uh, there's a GoFundMe and such. They're, they're claiming, what's the new one?
- 10:24Milton is gonna be so strong that it's still gonna be a hurricane after it passes through Florida. That's what I was thinking. Yeah. It was already over Hun- They, they wanna make it a, they wanna create a new category.
- 10:33Category six. Yeah. That's freaking- I do not wanna see category six Lloyd, by the way. [laughs] Mm-hmm. Uh, so Milton, when it came across the Yucatan, it dropped a little bit. And then it picked right back up.
- 10:45But it's gonna pick right back up again. Oh, it's gonna be ugly. I do not envy anybody down there, and I'm- Never have... kinda, I'm kinda wondering why people continue- Live there... to live in a place- Right?...
- 10:55that's gonna get wiped off the face of the map every- 'Cause they don't have to pay income taxes. Well, it's been over 100 years since it really hit Tampa hard. Right. Eh. Yeah.
- 11:03You rolls your money- Well, part of that sw-... and you takes your chances... part of that swell's gonna hit fucking Fort Myers again. Yeah. And- Absolutely. It's all in the same little stretch- I mean, damn...
- 11:12of fuckstickery right in there. Yeah. My, my cousin lives there. She avoided the first wave somehow. I don't know, like the providence of being in the, uh, the old Edison, Henry Ford, like, weird- Huh...
- 11:28bungalow complex, neighborhood. I don't know, had, like, the good, the good shine on it or something. Right. Hopefully that'll happen again.
- 11:39Hey, not for nothing, but you know what the only hills in Florida are when you get to the top of them? Mm. [bell ringing] Overpasses? They're actually trash heaps.
- 11:48I was gonna say, overpasses or trash- No, they're, they're pretty much landfills. That's crazy. So we're at the top of the landfill here in, uh, in, in soon-to-be inundated Florida. And we're- America's wang...
- 11:59and thanks to, uh, Shannon for bringing beer a couple- Yeah. Yeah... weeks ago when he picked up his Marley beer. Mar- Marley beer? His Marley bike. Uh, it is the Salmon King. No. The Shalom King. Shalom King.
- 12:11Slalom King. No, it- oh, there's somebody on a water ski. It's the Slalom King- Slalom King... West Coast Style IPA from, uh, down there at Crystal Lake Brewing, which is in, uh, it- it's in- Probably Illinois...
- 12:24it's in almost Wisconsin, Illinois. Yeah. It's like way northern Illinois. They wish they were- Oh, Crystal Lake is like right over the border. You're right. Yeah, they wish they were in Wisconsin- Yeah...
- 12:31but they're really not quite. Jason Voorhees. You know, all that. Yeah. So- It is from the 13th. It's, it's tasty. It is, it is not bad. It's tasty. I'm very- Heavy... also. Thanks, Shannon. Yeah, thanks Shannon.
- 12:44Thank, thank you. Thank Shane- Shane- Shaning- ding-dong-bang-dang-old- Shang-a-lang-a-ding-dong... ding-dong-dang-old Shalom Beer and stuff.
- 12:50All the way home I was thinking that we had Shannon's beer, and I whistled, um, Three Little Birds. That was my, that was my ride home. [singing] Oh, we still have a- 'Cause of his tattoo.
- 12:58I'm like, "Hey, thinking of you, buddy." Well, we have another beer from him we could use next week. The red strap. Yes, because he- Yeah, man... he bought the Marley bike and, uh- Uh-huh...
- 13:07got this- Is it required to have a-... this, this stripe of red... bong filled with tobacco? Don't know. Is that how that works? I dunno. I dunno. Do they do bongs? I don't enough know about no bong.
- 13:14Who can afford a bong? I was watching a guy on, uh, YouTube. He's a, he's a stereo guy. He's like, uh, Skylabs. I think they're in West Des Moines, Iowa, believe it or not. Okay.
- 13:23Uh, which next time I go through there I'm gonna have to stop, 'cause it's just vintage, old, l- mid-'70s probably to mid-'80s mostly. Mostly. All stuff, all stuff you can still rebuild, right?
- 13:36It's like you can rebuild this SX680 from 1978 because you can still get all the shit, and it's all good stuff. Wow, neat. But you... Where... [laughs] Um, I'm going somewhere with this, but I don't remember where.
- 13:49So it must've been a lie. No. I have- [laughs] I just lost my, totally lost my train of thought. All right. I'll- I'll- I'll- Bongs?... come back to it. Well, we started with the, uh, the Shan- We started with bongs...
- 13:57we started with the Shannon bike. Oh, oh. Which was the- Oh, oh, oh... which was that. Oh, wait. It's about- He's got a-... it's about bongs. [laughs] Um, because there's a speaker- You're welcome... called Agraphics.
- 14:07It's G-R-A-F-Y-X. Oh. And then he's like, "I think we used to spell it- Yeah... G-A-R-F-I-X for the big long, tall acrylic things." [laughs] Yeah. Yeah. It's like- Yeah... yeah. So I was like- Tall tubes...
- 14:21"Dude, you're f- 'cause you're- That's a long time ago... well, you're from a certain generation if you know exactly what that means. Exactly what that meant. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Right. So I was like, "Dude."
- 14:28I'm from that generation. Yep. Yep. I knew that. He's, he's, he's obviously somebody that has, uh, been through the ring- ringer thinger. The bong ringer. The bong ringer.
- 14:39Speaking of the state bike, was the, uh, button pushed? No. I did not do it because I just wanted to make sure you were 100%. I was 100%. I know. I ju- I am 100%. I'll do it tomorrow then. All right then.
- 14:52As long as you're still 100%. I'm 100%.
- 14:54I just thought, I thought you, I thought you might wanna be on your Florida trip and be like, "Yeah, I just wish it said Fresh You instead of Fuck You, and I don't really wanna get it or something."
- 15:02Oh, are you ordering it? Yes. [laughs] Oh. Well, it's also some- I think it's on sale enough- Yes... to make it like- It's totally approachable... let's, let's, let's do it now. Yeah. Yeah.
- 15:13So they didn't sell those things out, huh? Well, there's like 60 left. Yeah. So they, they sold a good chunk of them. And I'll bet they sold a bunch of Boggs. Boggs. Yeah. Oh, easily. Oh, hey. Yeah.
- 15:22Speaking of bags, I gotta pull this out while I remember. Excuse me? Excuse me while I whip this out. Uh-huh. So I think we may have talked about this before, Garrett's Bogg, which is a- Bogg...
- 15:35this here is a- Ooh, that's in great shape... looks so fresh... uh, th- this, this is a Roadrunner, um, large. Should I hit this button to get the camera right? Oh, let's, let's- No, I'm just kidding...
- 15:44let's do it right here. Mine- [laughs] Um, Tony has a large blue one. This is a large black one which Garrett had. It looks way better than mine. Well, he had it- [laughs]... for four years of high school. Wow.
- 15:53And the straps were completely worn out. And they rebuilt them? They rebuilt it. Uh, so these guys will take the Bogg, and they will repair it at a very reasonable price.
- 16:04I mean, I don't wanna bust them out, but I think with shipping this was like 50 bucks to replace both straps and also one of these shmackity-smackers. Wow. And it's out, and I, you know, I think- Is that- It looks great.
- 16:16[laughs] Is that Roadrunner, Roadrunner- Ro- Roadrunner-... Roadrunner?... LA. Yeah. People that, like, totally stand behind their product. I- And Ashley was so happy that Garrett had gotten through high school with it.
- 16:28And then I'm like, "Well, he's got four more years of college, so let's get it repaired." She's like, "Awesome." Nice. So we did that. And we need a testimonial. So we did that, and then guess what?
- 16:39You bought another bag. No. Then guess what? He's like, "I don't think I need a bag that big anymore." Mm-hmm. So now it's you got a new bag. I got a new bag. Nice. That said,
- 16:49I pimp- pimped him out with, uh, the Slacker, which is a smaller... I think there's an orange one over there. Oh, yeah. It's the- Yeah. Good bag...
- 16:54like 13-liter smaller bag, 'cause he doesn't have to carry 80 pounds of books anymore for some reason. Apparently they don't, you know, use books or whatever- Mm-hmm...
- 17:02in college anymore, so- No, you can go back- He's like, "Oh, yeah"... to your dorm- Yep... and pick up, "Hey, I'm going here," and then come back. And he, he does live on campus. And I come back. And I go back.
- 17:10So that's good. And I go there. Get your steps up. You know? Get your steps in. Yeah. Got a, I got a note from, uh, Progressive Insurance today about maybe this, this, uh, this...
- 17:19"Is this a new driver in your household, Garrett Smith?" I'm like, "He didn't have a driver's license." And he's not in our household.
- 17:25And he's not in our household, but that wouldn't technically matter I guess if he had a license 'cause he has access still because he- You need a license, Lisa...
- 17:33but, so he got a learner's permit, but mostly because he wanted, um, ID- To vote... for vote. Right. Voting purposes. [laughs] Yeah. Yeah. No, that's awesome. I... No, no, I just...
- 17:45[laughs] And they were very nice at Progressive. It was a Breakfast Club- I don't know, I don't know- That was a Breakfast Club setup. Oh, yeah. It's like, "What? Where'd he get this fake ID? Where'd he get this?"
- 17:54"So, to vote." [laughs] I, so I don't know. I mean, Progressive was very nice about it. They were like, "Well, if he has a learner's permit, he can be on insurance.
- 18:05But he's not gonna be driving by himself, so we can't charge you." I'm like, "Oh, okay." Okay. I don't, I don't know- All right...
- 18:09if other insurance companies are like that or not, but- Progressive is so progressive Yes, they are in that, in that way It's not just a clever name Should we talk about any bike crap? There's some bike stuff- We did...
- 18:19on here. Oh They've got like renter's insurance- Oh, we did that... that would cover your bikes if they- Yes... get ripped off Yeah, along with the... So-
- 18:26It- I have a more confirmation from Carolyn that supposedly several of these stolen bikes in River West do have Air Tags Yeah And supposedly they are, you know...
- 18:35So there was the big, well, last week or maybe it was two weeks ago, you, you talked about Aton's post to the police, and then a police officer got in touch with him. So now we have all emailed this officer- Ah...
- 18:49and said, you know, "Hey, look, this is our stolen bike. Here's the information." And he's, his, I don't have it, I mean, I'm sure it's on my phone somewhere, but he said that there, there could be a breakthrough soon.
- 19:00Oh. So I'm- Mm...
- 19:02I'm not, I mean, I don't ever think I'm gonna see my bike back, but I am like- Sure would like to see that Ostriches saddlebag Yeah Yeah And did you happen to notice the company that's building the, um, fireproof, rebuildable
- 19:16battery pack for electric bikes had, their Indiegogo went live today? I did not notice that.
- 19:22So it's a pretty neat idea, and if you were an early adopter and gave them a buck, you got a pretty good deal on a, a pretty decent-sized battery. 239 for a 20 amp hour battery. That's fair. That's fair. And rebuildable.
- 19:38Uh, JK, JK- Yo, yo... JK- Yo, JK... JK... hey, I'm right here. I, I, I think- I'm right here. I'm right here... I'm saying, I'm saying JK here.
- 19:44I think JK took advantage of an Amazon Prime deal for some new noise, noisery on his bike. Ding. Ding. [laughs] Ding. I like how it looks. Ding, ding. I do, too Yes. It, uh, it's got a good thumb thing.
- 19:58It, it doesn't feel- When it looks like a megaphone- Yeah... or a cheerleader phone It's, it's not like...
- 20:03The one I bought, I don't know, or got free, you know, that works, but they're always flimsy, and they always break. This one just is solid and- This is- Bing... definitely the truth. Yeah.
- 20:14Well, what, what I liked about it was the, the bell, at least the way he has it mounted, and the way it actually works, the, the, the bell is facing forward, and I just read like a, a review in Stereophile this morning with a $65,000 set of speakers.
- 20:29They got a huge horn on the front that's like this big- It's-... and it's facing forward. I'm like, "Wonder how loud that bell's gonna be [laughs]" Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 20:37No, it works out nicely and comes in, well, it was, it was cheap. It was a throw-in with another purchase because, eh, the suggestive sell, you know, like the Tic Tacs and the National Enquirer- It works...
- 20:49in the, in- Yeah... while you're waiting in line, you're always gonna get one of those things. And that was one of them, and then I was like, "Oh, shit, for 12-ish dollars- Yeah... if it sucks, it sucks."
- 21:01[laughs] But if it, if it works- It's, it's-... it's fine. I got a- And then it can be like- I don't know how I can slam that little video in here somehow, but I got a little video of it [laughs] It's cute It's cute.
- 21:10Um- And, and you can actually get a, uh, uh, the hammer instead of it just being a flat thing. It, it has the shape of a woodpecker- Mm... kind of thing. Rather be a hammer than a nail.
- 21:22Something of that nature Less, less I had wood. Whatever. Ha ha ha ha ha. Whoa. I, I- Got weird now... I just kinda feel like people should probably read this story. Yeah. I've called it Canadian douchebaggery.
- 21:34[laughs] Only because it's like, what's the freaking title of it? Fat biking is great, but I'll never do it. Fuck you. So how did, what, I mean- How do you know it's great? Yep, but yeah. I don't get it.
- 21:48I did, I read the story. I, it was a couple weeks ago. Oh, I don't even want to. I just read the head- Right, right... I just read like, not even the headline.
- 21:54You have no opinion if you've- Because the headline is, the headline is-... never even read one... the headline is in the link and- Well, you know... yeah. But eh, eh, eh. I freaking love riding a fat bike. Mm.
- 22:05I'm sorry. Yeah, still, and I mean, I don't know if this bashing of fat bikes is a new thing. Maybe it's a clickbait thing because, uh, Pinkbike also had some... It's a podcast. I gotta listen to it. No.
- 22:15So I hate to listen to the pod- You don't have to... Pink... Well, I wanna listen to it 'cause I wanna hear. Uh, plus bikes and fat bikes, uh, are they a fad? Baby fat For the last- 10-... 14, 14 years?...
- 22:27plus years, yeah Yes. They've been fads for 14 years, folks Fat, speak- speaking of fads and- Not plus bikes. Those came way later. Yeah. They're like two years later. The, the, the whole fad- That's-... with that is-...
- 22:35about the size of the fuck you. Oh. You fucking fuck. I saw- Oh, so we're all ready to fuck you, you're saying? Yeah. All right. Uh, I saw the- I'll, I'll put it on the agenda... okay, okay.
- 22:43[laughs] Um- I'm just trying to [laughs] like just reinforce that. I got the blessing. I saw a- I showed the picture and the blessing... ice cream truck, the new ice cream truck for sale already on Facebook Marketplace.
- 22:53Stop me when I'm passing by. But I looked into it- Oh my my... and it's Ben's now selling bikes on Facebook Marketplace. Are they like selling a full-priced bike on Marketplace?
- 23:04Yeah, they, he listed a, the, the new- Yeah, I mean, you can do that... $4,200- You can do that as a dealer. Yeah. Yeah. Doesn't have to be all- I would certainly like to ride one Yeah, I would, too.
- 23:14I don't wanna own one, but I'd love to ride one. Yeah, I'm not sure. I'm kind of already thinking about getting rid of my Chumba.
- 23:20So if, uh, you want a, a very bitching titanium Chumba, that might be on the block, you know? Also, something else that's on the block. Wanna, maybe it's a let's make a deal section of the show or something.
- 23:32[laughs] What you got there? Oh, that's a good fork. It's a Bluto. It's a Bluto. I don't even- Bluto lockout, remote lockout... I don't know if it even fits in the thing. It's a little dirty. It's got a lockout.
- 23:44It's, you know, it's been used a few hundred, 500 miles or something. But it's not- Yeah, but by James. He doesn't really ride it... but it's not something I'm gonna use. He rode it. Yeah, but he didn't really ride it.
- 23:54And even, he didn't kill it. It's in good shape. Did he ever go down a set of stairs? You know what I'd like- He didn't... oh, yeah. He, he, yeah. Anyway. Yeah, no, no. You know what? Yeah, yeah. This is a thing.
- 24:01Yeah, no, no. No, yeah. We, first of all, we gotta finish the studio. It's not done yet. Second of all, gotta pay for rent. Third of all, I'm not gonna use this, so- Right... Greg at- Somebody buy it...
- 24:10Greg@everydaycycles.com, make me an offer on this freaking thing and- Tapered. Remember, it's tapered. Yep, tapered steer tube and- You know, it's a Bluto. It's whatever, 80, 100, you can probably change that.
- 24:21It's got a thingamajigger here. It's got a through axle there. Let's, uh, send this down the road. Make me an offer I can't refuse. Yeah, let somebody get some use out of it.
- 24:30By the way, I'm gonna donate that- I was gonna get rid of that carbon fork behind you, too, and then I thought, you know what else I got on my other bike is- Oh, that's a good idea...
- 24:36I got a suspension fork on my, my almost every day fat bike. You know what I don't need on there? Suspension fork. Pretty much don't need a suspension fork on that bike. Might as well save yourself a pound and a half.
- 24:45Yeah, I'm gonna put that gram saving- MP on there 'cause, yeah, I'm gonna put that on there Weight weenie. Whatever. Tony brought back the, uh... Don't throw it on the floor again.
- 24:56[laughs] I did not throw it on the floor. You did. [laughs] It wasn't the floor. It was the ground. And if we could bring back a really long one from a long time ago, you're all beautiful, except you, Chris.
- 25:07[laughs] That's except you, Kyle, now, actually. Well, yeah, but Chris was great 'cause- [laughs]... he'd get really mad 'cause he looks like Kid Rock. Oh, yeah. Oh. My name is Keith. Ooh.
- 25:19Wow, that's, that's putting a thumb in the eye, man. Come on, now. [laughs] I just, uh, it's like I came across a new comedy show
- 25:27that asks, like, weird questions, and are you aware of the fact that Kid Rock had a house built to look exactly like a reproduction of the White House? No. I don't know. Yeah. It's fucking disturbing. Yeah.
- 25:40Tucker Carlson was there. The f- favorite part of the place was the gold urinal. Hey, look, a blue car. Right? Pretty much the same thing. Hey, look, a blue car. But, yeah. What, what were we talking about even before?
- 25:50I- The show, I, I shouldn't link you guys to it 'cause it's absolutely hilarious. My name is Keith. They did a great picture of, um, Vance. It was Vance during the debate and then the- Ann Heinz?...
- 26:02and then the next day- The motorcycle exhaust maker? Right. And then the next day was someone had photo- a, a Republican had photoshopped his face, and they said the, the best part was he went from Teddy Ruxpin to G.I.
- 26:15Joe. [laughs] A Republican did that? It, the, no, the comedy show did after the Republican edited, like, photoshopped J.D. Vance to look- Oh... rugged instead of- Yeah... Teddy Ruxpin. Like- Yeah, that's it...
- 26:28Vladimir Putin with his shirt off kind of rugged? Right, right, right. You know, the mascara-wearing. He's got the smoky eye. Hey, you know, uh- Yes... the guy from- He's creamy...
- 26:36first of all, the guy from The Smiths still wears m- mascara. 'Cause he should. It's not like, uh, Bob Smith- He's, he's an entertainer... I wore mascara back in the old days. He's an entertainer.
- 26:44I did, too, and it looked good. I mean, granted, so are the politicians. And am I lying? They're fucking- Me too... entertainers, and they're blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 26:50And speaking of which, the little kid from Sixth Sense, Haley Joel Osment, he does a mean J.D. Vance impersonation on the Kimmel show. I'm, I'm- Which is pretty goddamn funny...
- 27:01did I do this last week where I was poking my screen trying to get it to- Yeah, yeah, I think you did... you gotta poke that... a couple of times. God. You gotta poke that one. Goddamn it. All right.
- 27:08So there's this company called Intrinsic. There's a link, link in the show notes. It's, uh... I think these are pedals for normal bikes, but they called them out as e-bike pedals, and I just thought, "Really?" Oh.
- 27:21It's actually- Yeah, those are like the, like, like the Wise- They're actually-... like the Wise, uh, scales- These are-...
- 27:27that are, like, you're supposed to only stand on them with bare feet so they can get all the biometrics. Oh. Ah. That would be cool.
- 27:34No, these actually have, like, bumpers on them, so when you're bashing them through your house- [laughs]... it doesn't, like, mar your, your, your thresholds on your doors and stuff.
- 27:43Okay, that's kind of genius marketing. I know. It's just like, but they- Curb feelers... specifically called them out for their ergonomic, uh, and comfortable bumper grips, so the end of the grips are bumper-y.
- 27:55But the pedals also have, like, whatever, you know, some sort of crepe on or neoprene or something- That's freaking hilarious... kind of edges on the pedals where they don't cut holes- Mar... in your drywall.
- 28:05Not marring. Well, if you still had, like, old school, um, you know, lath and plaster, you probably wouldn't blast through the wall. But freaking drywall- Drywall, you can go right through it...
- 28:14you could just sneeze on it and you put a hole in the shit, so. Johnny Marr from The Cure? Um, In- Intrinsic. So at first I th- I was like- Intrinsics? Okay... this is kind of a, this is kind of a dumb thing.
- 28:22Then I thought, "Maybe it's not that dumb." No. They're, it's, they're, it's called the bumper pedal. [laughs] You could just wrap your- You could s- s-...
- 28:29electric bike in bubble wrap when you bring it in the house, too. Yeah. It should have that thing, like, when, uh, Stallone was in whatever movie when the ksh, ksh, when he crashed and it was a bunch of foam.
- 28:39What was that one? Oh. Whoa. Uh, not Running Man. That's, uh- No, Stallone. Demolition Man? Demo- no. He's driving a car. It's, he comes out of jail. He's got, uh, you know, Wesley Snipes in there. Demolition Man. Maybe.
- 28:53Yeah. But he was, like, a cop. Judge Dredd. Demolition Man. That's definitely Judge Dredd. Judge Dredd. Yeah. Is it Judge Dredd? I don't know. Well, you're kind of m- you're mixing. Mixing metaphors. Yeah.
- 29:00Mixing, mixing, no, not metaphors, just movies. Movie, movie fours. Movie fours. Anyway, you know, I think I might wanna get a s- touch... Why doesn't Apple make a... They, well, they do. It's small.
- 29:13It's this thing here. They do. It's called that. Hey, see how that works? [laughs] See? I touch it. I touch it. I touch it. I touch it. I touch it. I just touched it a lot. All right, Da Vinyls, you touch yourself.
- 29:22[laughs] When I- When I think about you... no, when I think about me, I touch myself. Got that album. Oh, I don't wanna touch anybody else. I have that on vinyl. No, I have it on CD.
- 29:31Oh, what the hell song was I listening to? And it was, God damn, it was just [laughs]... No, it was a great, a great lyric, and I'll- [laughs]... I'll, I'll remember it by the time the mics end.
- 29:42Oh, look at you, you duck, duck saver, you. Is that that knife you found on the ground about, uh- [laughs]... I don't know how long ago? It's like a, it, it's- Gnomefest 11? It's like a, it's like an SOG. SOG, yeah.
- 29:54Yeah, it's- It's, you know, it, it- Whatever that stood for, I forget... the guy that used to hang out with us is, uh, what was his name, Sam? He sharpened this for me a couple of times.
- 30:03He doesn't hang out with us anymore? I haven't seen Sam in ages. Watch your bits. I think he's mad at us for- Watch your bits while you're swinging... I think he's mad at us for something at Steel Is Real.
- 30:10I think- And Sam, if you're listening, which you're not- I think he might have, maybe he had-... step in a crab trap... something else to do. Yeah. I know. I thought, and, you know- Did any of you do the cheat?
- 30:19He hasn't sent me a message since, and I don't know what I did other than- They're eating the dogs. Hmm. Oh, it is that last month stretch. Everyone's a little twitchy. Yep. Yep. Um, did- Less than, less than a month.
- 30:3628, 27, 26... did, uh, uh, anyone do the Tweed Ride on Saturday? I missed it. Uh, Bert and Mike did. Yeah. And so maybe we can- I saw some pictures... get a little, I don't know, thing.
- 30:45I woke up in time to consider it, but no. I, I mean, I had gotten in- Hmm... at about 10:00 that night and I was like- Did you see a BB?... I'm just like, "Oh, hell. I don't even know if I can..." I'm like, "Ugh."
- 31:00So- I'd love to, but I just, I like... Those days you wake up tired and it's like, "Oh, no." So the, the- I, it was- Did you have the jet lag from the hour time change? Uh, it was the sun and the fucking heat.
- 31:11So- That, that just sucked everything out of me...
- 31:13the, the benefit of Cleo going to school at UWM is she comes home on Friday nights and she'll watch Daniel, which allowed Molly and I to go down to Mad Planet, see Brian, and see...
- 31:27They had a th- they had a th- three- Oh, it was-... two-piece band. It was... I don't know the opening band. They were from Montana or something. They were okay. Mm-hmm. Second one, though, Video Sex Priest. Yep.
- 31:38Which is Billy and Liv. Yep. Billy, dun, dun, dun, shh, dun, dun, dun, dun, shh. Uh, Bill Backus and Liz from... Oh, it's good. Dun, dun. Tribal ass fucking percussion on that, man. Yep.
- 31:47And, and then it, and then it finished off with The Quills. Yep. Oh. I saw that. Yeah. And then I got to go home, and I could get home because it was- Like four houses away?... three doors down. Three doors.
- 31:58Not to be confused by the shitty band. Hmm? Didn't you just say four doors down so you don't have to say three doors down ever again? I probably should. Now, shouldn't I? Yeah, that's probably a good idea. I should.
- 32:05There's only three. Yeah. Yeah, leave through the smoking deck. Right. But yeah, it was...
- 32:10[laughs] And I literally, the funniest part about it is Molly and I are halfway through Video Sex Priest, and I'm watching them, and I'm watching Liv because, I mean, come on, it's Liv. She's captivating.
- 32:20And then all of a sudden I look over- Absolutely captivating... I look over at Mike, and I tap Molly. I'm like, "Molly, the drummer's Bill Backus." And she looks over at me. She's like, "Oh my God, that's hilarious."
- 32:29Like, we've known Bill for 25 years at least. And I sent him the next, the next morning, I sent him a message. I'm like, "I didn't know you were the drummer for Video Sex Priest."
- 32:39He's like, "We were standing right next to each other, but we're so fucking old we didn't recognize him." Now you do. Yeah. Forest for the trees, man. It was like his fourth, their, their fourth live show.
- 32:48He's like, "We're still figuring things out." I've seen- I responded back with, "I'm pretty sure you've figured things out," 'cause that show was kickass. Yeah. I, 'cause I saw, uh, they did, uh, Baby Bash.
- 32:56Baby Bash, yep. And I think there was... I don't know, maybe I saw them one other time maybe. So if you live in Milwaukee- I'm not sure. Liv... and you want to see a great two-piece band, Video Sex Priest.
- 33:07Not to mention, it's so much fun to say. Exactly. And- Say it one more time. Video Sex Priest. And- So who... You know who, uh, has got two thumbs and, uh, was the winner of the Boris tickets? Oh, you got Boris tickets.
- 33:24Das Sprinkler? Oh. No, Boris. Oh, the other Boris. Boris. Oh, not Boris the Sprinkler. Boris. Double Drum. That's gonna be- Heavy, heavies, heavy- Is, is that it? Vivarium Vivarium? Oh.
- 33:35That will be my first Vivarium show. Yeah. I have two words for you, sir: earplugs. Oh. I, I was gonna say loose joints. We'll talk about those next time.
- 33:43[laughs] But I got, I got some that are 30 bucks, but they attenuate, but don't ruin. Are they like Samedi's? Well, I don't know if they're exactly.
- 33:53Oh, I- But they're, you know, they have a filter in them that still allows the,
- 33:58uh, the sound to come through in the fidelity you expect, but drops it down 20 DB or something so that you are- With a holder from the Sleep show, thank you kindly. Oh, right on. [laughs] Are th- let me see.
- 34:11Are those, uh... Let's see here. What do we got going here? Are these... Oh, those are just foamy. These just- Yeah... these mute the sound. Exactly. Okay. But it's fine. But it is. Yeah. Also- But the carrier, you see.
- 34:23Also, here's the deal. [laughs] Sleep. I was going to... I have- Haroon. I, I bought a Sleep double album that I actually haven't even gotten out of the- That's your fault. Yeah... Sleep.
- 34:32So I'm gonna put it on there, and then I'm gonna s- make it spinny spin, and then listen to it, you think. 'Cause I, uh, whatever. That's, that's Do you have a graphics bong? Maybe.
- 34:43[laughs] 'Cause if you did, that would probably be perfect time for that. Pull some- Saying pull tubes. Could pull some tubes, bro. All right, everybody. We did it. We did it like we were- Oops... supposed to.
- 34:53And I still have another whole, um, Salman Rushdie king beer here. [laughs] I like that. So, uh, I'm gonna drink that after we say- So long... arrivederci, America. Oh, yeah. Oddly enough. [laughs] It all makes sense.
- 35:06You're all beautiful, except for you. Who died and made you Mike Patton? [heavy metal music] Boris.
- 35:15[heavy metal music]
