- 0:31Amen, if you have your Bible is already open.
- 0:33Turn them over to Isaiah chapter 9, a very familiar passage of
- 0:39scripture. That's visited during Christmas
- 0:41time. Isaiah, chapter 9.
- 0:44When you get there, which is to the right of the, Psalms, when
- 0:47you get there, we're going to pick up around verse 2 or so.
- 0:52Isaiah chapter 9 in verse 2. It says, the people who walked
- 1:00in darkness have seen a great light, those who dwelt in the
- 1:05land of the shadow of death upon them, a light has shined You
- 1:12have multiplied, the nation and increased.
- 1:14Its Joy. They Rejoice before you
- 1:17according to the joy of harvest as men rejoice.
- 1:20When they divide the spoil for you have broken, the Yoke of his
- 1:25burden and the staff of his shoulder.
- 1:28The rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian, for every
- 1:35Warrior Sandal from the noisy battle and garments rolled in
- 1:39blood will be used for burning in.
- 1:42You'll fire For unto us. A child is born, unto us a son
- 1:48is given, and the government will be upon his shoulder.
- 1:51His name will be called, wonderful, counselor, Mighty
- 1:57God, Everlasting father, Prince of Peace, and of the increase of
- 2:04his government and peace. There will be no end upon the
- 2:08throne of David and over his kingdom to order.
- 2:12Order it and establish it with judgment and Justice from that
- 2:15time forward even forever. The Zeal of the Lord of hosts
- 2:20will perform this You know, Christmas is a wonderful time.
- 2:27One of my favorite times of the year, it seems like even though
- 2:31there's tension and stress and pressure and, you know, people
- 2:35are fighting for toys and TVs and even parking spaces, you
- 2:40know, that that's rare, even though it gets a lot of
- 2:43attention. It's actually in the minority,
- 2:46the majority of people, in a time, like, this are filled with
- 2:49joy and some sort of Happiness, even if it is Tends to with
- 2:55sorrow and pain and grief. They kind of go like, parallel,
- 3:00they go together. You can't just dismiss those
- 3:02things. But like the Bible says, we're
- 3:04going to Rejoice with those who rejoice.
- 3:06And so when I see you happy, I'm happy.
- 3:09But we're also going to grieve or mourn with those who mourn
- 3:13and when I see you sad, I want to be sad alongside of you
- 3:17looking for the comfort of God. But nevertheless, it's good to
- 3:20be together, both near and far. Beeping Jesus.
- 3:25And that was a setup. That was like, a ready for an
- 3:27amen. So I'm going to do it over
- 3:28again, I'm gonna set you up, it's good to be together, near
- 3:31and far worshiping Jesus. All right.
- 3:33Just just make sure you guys follow along with me follow
- 3:37along, it is good to be together and I find it interesting that
- 3:42even in a time of great rejoicing there is, and there
- 3:45are those that just have a disrupted peace in their life.
- 3:51They're just not willing to give an inch when it comes to joy and
- 3:56happiness and I know we live in a culture that tries to dismiss
- 4:01Christmas and and really I mean really the Bible describes what
- 4:04kind of culture we live and we're actually living in it.
- 4:06We happen to live in a time where good is quite clearly
- 4:10being called evil and evil quite clearly being called and and for
- 4:14us that truly want to learn and cling to the truth, we're kind
- 4:18of caught in the middle of all of that, but nonetheless, Less
- 4:21people are talking about Jesus now even if they're trying to
- 4:24deny him, even if they wanting to dismiss him, it is true.
- 4:28I know that instead of Merry Christmas, there are now happy
- 4:32holidays and seizing, greetings, and all sorts of things, but
- 4:36none of that dismisses, the reality and the truth of the
- 4:40birth of Jesus Christ, neither do you need to let it weigh you
- 4:44down and bum you out? You know, the Savior that little
- 4:49baby. Has a name and names are very
- 4:53important. You know in the Old Testament
- 4:56often a name was given that would reflect the character of
- 5:01that person. People like Jacob, whose name
- 5:04meant, he'll catch her or Jobe. Whose name means he, Who Weeps
- 5:08or cries? Joseph, his name was, his name
- 5:12means, increase, or addition. And then there was a man by the
- 5:16name of zerubbabel. And his name means Stranger in
- 5:19Babylon, which is exactly what he was Ruth.
- 5:22Her naming satisfied, Esther, her name means secret or hidden
- 5:28and names are important. I mean, when you're in a group,
- 5:31when you're in a room, This size and your name is mentioned, it
- 5:35immediately gets your attention. For some reason, we are tuned in
- 5:39to our name. And for many of you you even see
- 5:42in your own life, that the the name or the or the origin of
- 5:46your name, even reflects a little bit of your character, or
- 5:49how you grew up today. Researchers, tell us that the
- 5:53names. We give our kids actually speak
- 5:55more about their parents than they do their children.
- 5:59It reveals a lot about what a parent values and what they Our
- 6:02goals are, especially for their children in every generation.
- 6:06And actually there's a website where you can look this up every
- 6:09year. There are a ranking of popular
- 6:12names, like, today as I looked up on in 2022, the most popular
- 6:17names for girls and 2022 were Aurora of all names, Violet,
- 6:24Charlotte, Amelia, and even Hazel made a comeback on the
- 6:29list and Aria, they were popular.
- 6:32They're for girls for guys, for boys, the popular names this
- 6:35year were a sure Theodore Oliver Noah and even Henry made the
- 6:42list for men and boys names this year.
- 6:46It's not uncommon for parents. Some of you have done this to
- 6:49give virtue names to girls names, like Faith, Grace, Hope
- 6:53or charity biblical names are popular as well.
- 6:56Like Matthew Joshua Mary, for boys, even Geographic names are
- 7:01used, boys. Boys named Dakota Texas or even
- 7:05Denver, although I haven't met a kid walking around named
- 7:08Breckinridge with a sister named Pueblo but hey the names are out
- 7:12there. There is though, Princess Aurora
- 7:17and she's a popular name this year but then there are those
- 7:20parents that seem to want to make life miserable for their
- 7:24kids. A lot like the old Johnny Cash
- 7:27song about the boy named Sue you know of Sue don't you?
- 7:33These are actual names that parents gave their kids and I'm
- 7:36asking you to stick with me and this is the time of giving
- 7:40gifts. So if you want to give a
- 7:41courtesy laugh, you can give that to me.
- 7:44During this time last name Turner, they named their
- 7:47daughter Paige. The last name, peace, they named
- 7:52their son Warren. Stick with me.
- 7:56That's only to stick with me. Last name bath, they name their
- 8:01daughter Anita. Last name, case named their son?
- 8:07Justin or last name arm? They named their son Carl.
- 8:13Carl arm. All right.
- 8:16Now if you have to explain it it doesn't become funny anymore.
- 8:21Last name Banks. First name, Robin last name
- 8:26bacon name, their son, Chris middle initial P crispy bacon.
- 8:33Last names. Aster first name d.
- 8:38Okay, I lost you. I won't even go on no more.
- 8:42The Bible says, in Proverbs that a good name is to be chosen
- 8:46rather than great riches loving favor rather than silver and
- 8:50gold again. The Bible says, the name of the
- 8:54Lord is a strong tower the righteous run to it, and are
- 8:58safe. And so we ask today, what's in a
- 9:00name what really depends on Whose name it is because one
- 9:05day, a few thought a couple thousand years ago Gabriel and
- 9:09Archangel of God, announces to Mary and Joseph that there will
- 9:13be a birth And she will bring forth a son and you shall call
- 9:18his name Jesus for, he will save his people from their sins.
- 9:24Now, the Hebrew form of Jesus is the name Joshua and the name.
- 9:29Joshua means Jehovah is salvation.
- 9:32And so what a name to carry to be reminded of the Salvation of
- 9:36God, The Bible says therefore God has all highly exalted him
- 9:42and given him the name which is above every name that at the
- 9:45name of Jesus every knee should bow of those in heaven and those
- 9:50on Earth and those under the Earth.
- 9:52Again, the Bible says, nor is there salvation in any other.
- 9:57For there is no other name under Heaven given among men by which
- 10:01we must be saved in the name of Jesus.
- 10:05The story of Jesus coming into the world is not so much a true
- 10:11story of his birth as much as it is.
- 10:14The true story of the tremendous life-altering gift that he is to
- 10:20us. It's not a true story even
- 10:24though during this time part of the happiness and joy, is this
- 10:28exchange and receiving of gifts. It's a beautiful thing to have
- 10:32others on your mind, to think about what you might be able to.
- 10:35To do for them, even in the most smallest of ways and expressed
- 10:39that care and concern in the giving of gifts.
- 10:42I think it's equally important. That not only are we good givers
- 10:46of gifts but we're also good receivers of gifts.
- 10:49I mean, that's a wonderful thing to give an exchange is to
- 10:52receive with joy and happiness. The thought that someone had and
- 10:57baking a cake or a pie or cookies, or purchasing a gift
- 11:00that was, well, thought out and desirable that they would think
- 11:04of you and prayer. I mean, I I think it's a
- 11:06beautiful beautiful thing to enjoy, not only around
- 11:09Christmas, but throughout the year and when we think of
- 11:13Christmas, it's important to recognize though that the
- 11:17emphasis is not us giving and receiving gifts among each other
- 11:21as good as that might be. The emphasis of the birth of
- 11:24Christ is God's gift to man. God's gift to man The Gift of
- 11:31eternal life, the gift of the Forgiveness of sins.
- 11:35I mean here we are in a church thinking about this baby Jesus.
- 11:39That was born. We're going to look at his name
- 11:41and just a moment but the primary fundamental reason God
- 11:45sent his son. Jesus Christ is so that your
- 11:47sins might be forgiven. I know I might be hard or you
- 11:50might even disagree thinking you know II know I'm in a church and
- 11:54I know you're a pastor and I know you got the Bible and
- 11:56you've got to talk about Sin. In, but I'm not really
- 11:59interested in sin II can understand where you, where you
- 12:03coming from in many ways for many years, I wasn't interested
- 12:06myself, I was doing my own thing, my own way and in quite
- 12:12frankly, enjoying it to some degree.
- 12:14But, you know, the thing about enjoying a life apart from God
- 12:18is that the day always ends and the people in the parties end
- 12:23and the people go home and friendships change.
- 12:26And what happens is your Left alone, just you.
- 12:31And when you're alone, your mind begins to think about the
- 12:35meaning of life. I mean, you look at the parties
- 12:38that you're involved in ego, is this all there is to life.
- 12:41Perhaps, it's not a partying life that you have, but maybe
- 12:44you live in the bottle or you live now under the influence of
- 12:49some prescription drug or some legalize marijuana.
- 12:53And that's just you don't want to feel the weight of
- 12:56everything. And so you just kind of see I
- 12:58press it through a lot of different decisions, but at the
- 13:01end of the day, when everything wears off, you've got to, you've
- 13:04got to sit there and think, you know, is this all there is to
- 13:07life. And today, I have the privilege
- 13:09of declaring to you. That.
- 13:11Absolutely, no. That is not all there is to
- 13:14life, but if you never come to terms, if you're never willing
- 13:19to admit, if you aren't willing to choose to turn away from the
- 13:25lifestyle that you're in, that doesn't include.
- 13:28I'd God. And then in I pause there for a
- 13:30second because I know folks will go.
- 13:31But what do you mean? I'm a good person.
- 13:34I have nothing against God per se.
- 13:37I'm willing to be here. I don't I I mean here I am and I
- 13:42would say that's a good thing that you are inching toward God
- 13:45tonight. I commend you, you know?
- 13:49Not everybody wants to be her. I mean some of you right now you
- 13:51are timing me and going. How long will this guy go?
- 13:56Well, two and a half hours is about as far as I'll go.
- 13:59So just enjoy the know. You're, you know, you're here
- 14:03because you were invited, you're here.
- 14:04Because this is your family, you're here.
- 14:06Because I don't maybe you were even bribed.
- 14:09If anybody was bribed, good job, good job.
- 14:13But here's the thing, why would we have and have at all these
- 14:16services to our church? And why would we be praying for
- 14:19you? Because we care about your soul.
- 14:22There's a significance about your relationship with God and
- 14:26the distance that's there that you need to come to terms with.
- 14:29And if you were to come in and out of the this the doors of
- 14:32this building and whether I was here or someone else standing at
- 14:35this Pulpit, didn't talk to you about your relationship with
- 14:38God. We would fail you, but more
- 14:40importantly we'd fail. God, do you know this building
- 14:43exist to declare the goodness of God into your life?
- 14:46This is the only reason why we gather, of course, for us that
- 14:49have a relationship with God, we already worship.
- 14:51It's a joy. Come together and worship.
- 14:54But if we didn't tell you about the condition of your soul being
- 14:58used by God to bring some sort of conviction into your life.
- 15:01Even those of you that would say you know I'm a good person, I
- 15:04wouldn't argue with you. I would I would want you to be
- 15:07good. I want you to be more good, but
- 15:10let me ask you this as you assess your life as a good
- 15:13person, how good does a person need to be to spend eternity
- 15:18with God. I mean, depends on who you
- 15:21compare yourself to write. You're a good person compared
- 15:23to. So and so, yeah, we're all good
- 15:25person compared to so-and-so, but how are you compared to the
- 15:29perfect? Righteous Savior.
- 15:31Jesus Christ. And today, we invite you into a
- 15:35relationship with him that you acknowledge, you could say
- 15:38something very simple before, God, but very meaningful saying
- 15:42to God, I admit that I've sinned against you.
- 15:45I mean, there is no way to eternal life apart from this
- 15:49baby. Jesus who was born God's gift to
- 15:55you? And to me, we learn a little bit
- 15:58about him in this text that we read together in Isaiah.
- 16:02We learn a little about him, we learn a little bit about him.
- 16:05By his name, notice with me again in verse 6 of Isaiah 9, We
- 16:12learn that a child is born. In a son is given And the
- 16:17government will be upon his shoulder and his name will be
- 16:21called. Now when the Bible says
- 16:24something that's going to happen in the future, When God Says
- 16:28something that's going to happen in the future, we typically
- 16:31refer to that, you know, if we're just regularly talking in
- 16:35our conversation as a prediction, as a prediction, if
- 16:37you say something that's going to happen tonight, you're kind
- 16:40of making a prediction. Well, the Bible when the Bible
- 16:43uses says something that's going to happen in the future, the
- 16:46Bible refers to Stu that not merely as a prediction but as a
- 16:49prophecy and Isaiah 9 is a prophecy of the birth of Jesus
- 16:55Christ. So not only.
- 16:57Now looking backwards. Is it a prophecy that the Savior
- 17:01will be born? But you and I now are on the
- 17:03other end of this prophecy and we can say definitively that a
- 17:06savior was born. And so what God Said would
- 17:10happen here has already happened and his name we see gives us
- 17:17Mystics of what it means to be in relationship with Jesus.
- 17:20Number one, notice it says, his name will be called wonderful,
- 17:25and it's in a relationship with Jesus Christ that you find, he
- 17:29takes care of the dullness of Life.
- 17:33The mundane parts of life, the everyday parts of life, the work
- 17:38the Sleep, the eat, the shower every day.
- 17:41Day after day, day after day, he's wonderful.
- 17:44The word literally means. Ordinarily good and life with
- 17:49Jesus. Just that good beyond our
- 17:53imaginations. Jesus would say as much when he
- 17:56was walking the Earth as an adult.
- 18:00Speaking of the devil, he called him a thief.
- 18:02Jesus did Jesus said, the thief does not come except to steal
- 18:08and to kill and to destroy. But I have come that they may
- 18:12have life and that they may have it more abundantly, wonderful.
- 18:21We all have different definitions of what an abundant
- 18:23life might be. I mean that that is kind of the
- 18:29treadmill of life that everyone's on, it seems if I
- 18:32just had more money I was just successful and Wealthy, then I
- 18:38would arrive if I can become that influencer or start a
- 18:43multibillion-dollar business. Or if I could have this and I
- 18:47could have that and I can, you know, the people that are world
- 18:51worships are the movie stars and the rich folks and the people
- 18:56that seem to have it all together.
- 19:00But if you pay careful attention, you'll notice that
- 19:03even in that Stratosphere. Apart from God, the things that
- 19:06you think would satisfy you, they actually don't satisfy
- 19:10others and of course to that people go.
- 19:12Well I'll just give me a chance. Give me a chance and some of you
- 19:15God has given a chance. You're extremely influential,
- 19:19you're extremely wealthy, you're in the position in the place
- 19:22that you want. And then God says, what do you
- 19:25do with it? How will you respond?
- 19:29But it's interesting because there's not a day that goes by,
- 19:31or at least a week that goes by that someone that people look up
- 19:34to, they end up taking their own lives, leaving their spouse
- 19:40going bankrupt because it just didn't work years ago.
- 19:44I saved this article, they interviewed Meg Ryan when she
- 19:47was famous at the top of her game Meg, Ryan movie star.
- 19:52Extraordinaire that. The interviewer said you seem to
- 19:56have the life that most people only dream of all the wealth and
- 20:01fame and happiness and she responded interestingly she said
- 20:07and I quote no I'm not content. I never think of myself as
- 20:11someone who got the brass ring. I think of myself as someone
- 20:14who's constantly in search of of what?
- 20:17I don't know. It feels like a constant Forward
- 20:20Motion. Then I'm afraid.
- 20:22Of the unknown. They're always come some other
- 20:25thing. I haven't done some other place.
- 20:27I haven't been to some other person.
- 20:29I haven't met, I've never had the time where I just sat back
- 20:33and felt satisfied. Like now I got it.
- 20:39And as we remember Jesus as wonderful, you have to come to
- 20:42that place where you realize that the world will never
- 20:47satisfy you. And even just last week.
- 20:53This man famous on television and movies and production takes
- 20:58an Uber to a local motel and our are a few, a mile away from his
- 21:02house. and in this life suddenly and tragically I never heard of
- 21:09him before but I started reading the articles about him and from
- 21:13an outside perspective, you would say this nothing to
- 21:16something rags-to-riches story would have brought great
- 21:19satisfaction into his life but he obviously had troubling
- 21:22things that really messed with his mind.
- 21:26Jesus, he's wonderful. And it's in this one
- 21:30relationship with Jesus Christ. Not that one more relationship.
- 21:36Not that one more possession, not that one more goal that will
- 21:41bring you full satisfaction. And so only in him.
- 21:44Not only is he wonderful notice. He's also his name means will be
- 21:47called counselor. As counselor, this deals with
- 21:52all the decisions in life that we make, you know, they're
- 21:54studying these things all the time.
- 21:56I should have jotted it down but I'm reading a book right now
- 21:59that the author talks about all the decisions were making.
- 22:03I think he puts it in the thousands were making all these
- 22:05decisions all day every day. I mean just thinking about all
- 22:08the decisions we have to make makes me tired about thinking of
- 22:11what's going to be next and what's going to require my time.
- 22:14But see the Bible says that Jesus is ready to help guide you
- 22:18in the decisions of life. He's ready.
- 22:21The Bible says, a man plans his way, but the Lord directs his
- 22:25steps. Do you have the direction of God
- 22:27today? He wants to give you personal
- 22:30direction, direction will not be found as you try to drown out
- 22:36the difficulties of your light. Trying to run away from them.
- 22:41Some go down to the bar and the party scene to drown out their
- 22:44difficulties others. Go from empty relationship to
- 22:47empty. Relationship, looking for
- 22:48direction and help there. Stephen Moore who will spend
- 22:52thousands upon thousands of dollars on prescription
- 22:55medications and therapy seeking to find some sense of comfort
- 23:00and ease yet. All the while.
- 23:02There's a wonderful savior who offers you his counsel today,
- 23:07his counsel is Direction and his strength, thirdly, not only does
- 23:11he give direction, but notice his name will be called Mighty
- 23:14God. This speaks of.
- 23:18The demands of life. And aren't there, doesn't it
- 23:23feel like there are more demands on your life today than ever
- 23:25before? Are you feeling the weight of a
- 23:28culture shifting? Right under our feet, the
- 23:31changes that are both thrust upon us but also required of us.
- 23:38It's a demanding world that we live in even now.
- 23:41And all of us have found it hard at times even as a follower of
- 23:44Christ. There are new demands and new
- 23:49difficulties. It's hard to sometimes to stand
- 23:52up for what is right? When everyone else seems to be
- 23:55coming against you, it's hard sometimes to say no to
- 23:58Temptation. It's hard sometimes to do the
- 24:01right thing. It's hard sometimes to take
- 24:05every thought into captivity to The Obedience of Christ.
- 24:09But today, you need to know that almighty God has given you the
- 24:12power to live the life, he requests.
- 24:16And requires, you know, it's not just the demands of life, but in
- 24:20the same book, I'm reading, he's talking about that the attention
- 24:24span, the average attention span of you and me, not them, but you
- 24:29and me in the year 2022, you will not believe this is
- 24:32unbelievable. The average attention span to
- 24:35those who study these things. Is now, eight seconds, eight
- 24:42seconds. That means in a bible study this
- 24:43long, I've got to get your attention, get your attention
- 24:46get. Retention, get your attention.
- 24:48And yes, you over there, get your attention again. 8 seconds,
- 24:51like you're there. You're like, oh yeah, it's hard
- 24:57to pay attention. And when difficulties come,
- 25:01let's face it. There are times we don't want to
- 25:04pay attention because of the weight that we face.
- 25:08Yeah. The birth of Jesus Christ has
- 25:10great implications and great opportunities for you.
- 25:13And for me, when his name will be called wonderful, it speaks
- 25:17of the quality of life is name is called counselor, I not on my
- 25:22own. I don't have to make all these
- 25:24decisions, myself. Mighty God enabling me to deal
- 25:28with the demands of Of life. Even if I can't, pay attention
- 25:31for more than eight seconds, not only.
- 25:35That notice is named says will be called Everlasting.
- 25:39Father, The word Everlasting their means from vanishing point
- 25:44of vanishing point and of the many things that I'm reminded of
- 25:48of the Triune God. I'm reminded that my life will
- 25:52last forever. And in Jesus, this takes care of
- 25:56my future. That I don't need to fear death.
- 26:01Jesus Christ has gone before me. And not only that notice the
- 26:06final Part of his name is, his name will be called Prince of
- 26:10Peace. And this takes care of the
- 26:13disturbances, they all kind of build on one another.
- 26:16We live in a very disturbing culture.
- 26:19He gives us peace in the storms of life.
- 26:24If you're new to the Bible, the Bible uses a lot of different
- 26:26pictures to describe real world occurrences.
- 26:30And one of them, this figure of speech that we use is storms,
- 26:33because we understand what storms mean.
- 26:36Storms, can greatly disrupt your life like the storm.
- 26:41We just had. It was like - which what
- 26:48difference does it make after it's below?
- 26:4932, just keep going. What difference does it make -
- 26:5310 15, 20, 30, give me for to give me 50 or whatever.
- 26:57It's cold as cold snow and ice but, you know, a simple storm
- 27:02like that. Shut the airport down.
- 27:05Disrupted, all sorts of lives stealing, peace away from
- 27:11unsuspecting people. So when the Bible uses storms,
- 27:14there is actually a time in the life of Jesus.
- 27:17We're on the Sea of Galilee and by the way, the Sea of Galilee
- 27:20is a real place. We take people there were you
- 27:23not only can stand in the Sea of Galilee but you can be in a boat
- 27:26on the very Sea of Galilee that Jesus was.
- 27:30And there was a time recorded for Jesus that he sent his
- 27:33followers in a boat. While they were in a boat
- 27:35together, a great storm came up and it freaked them out.
- 27:40They were worried and concerned about their life.
- 27:43And yet Jesus was able to calm the storm.
- 27:47Why? Because he's the Prince of
- 27:49Peace, he's the origin of Peace, not a temporary peace, that we
- 27:54kind of get through, but a permanent Eternal peace in the
- 27:58storms of life, especially in the turbulent times we face
- 28:03today. Are in such an unusual time,
- 28:07horrendous crime, horrendous difficulty, things in this world
- 28:12designed to unsettle and disrupt us.
- 28:16And so, God's gift to us is a savior.
- 28:20A savior. What a glorious name.
- 28:23What's in a name? It all depends on who it is.
- 28:27And what that name reflects? and if we're referring to the
- 28:31name Jesus than, we know, That, that little baby brings to us
- 28:36hope. Help and true life in every
- 28:43sense of that word. And today, God has a gift for
- 28:45you. He's offering a gift of
- 28:49forgiveness that cost him greatly to provide it.
- 28:54You know, we as a church have been praying for you for a long
- 28:58time. As we think through the times
- 29:01where we add these services to help with the capacity.
- 29:05So we have room for everybody that wants to be here and
- 29:08everyone listening on the radio and watching online, we pray for
- 29:11you we prayed for you in particular because we recognize
- 29:15what a big deal it is for you to turn your life back.
- 29:18Maybe you've been gone for a long time and now this is the
- 29:20first time you've been back in church in years.
- 29:24And it's really required, a lot of you to Pivot your life back
- 29:27toward God because of the pain or the sorrow or the difficulty,
- 29:30who knows, who knows what it is? And then some of you stepping
- 29:34into a church, having no desire to be here at all.
- 29:38Being able to be in a room filled with song.
- 29:41Filled with the truth from God's word.
- 29:45It encourages us. But that's not all for you to be
- 29:51in the room. What our desire is to see you
- 29:55come into a right relationship with God.
- 29:59Because Jesus that sweet little baby in the manger.
- 30:01Grew up to be a man, whose life ended tragically and horrific
- 30:08lie on a Roman cross. Many would love to leave him in
- 30:13the manger but he didn't stay there.
- 30:17Jesus was born to die. And he died and rose again.
- 30:22And if you haven't received God's great gift, then do it
- 30:25now. You can leave here knowing that
- 30:30life, your life is right with God.
- 30:34Confessing your sin, you know, the Bible says that if you
- 30:37confess your sin, if you confess with your mouth, the Lord Jesus.
- 30:41And you believe in your heart, that God raised him from the
- 30:43dead, you will be saved. And I know it takes a big step
- 30:48to admit that you need salvation but it's not a big as big step
- 30:53as you think. Because if you're even having
- 30:55those thoughts right now, God has been working on you because
- 30:58the Bible says, no one comes to the father.
- 31:02No one comes to the father except through Christ and no one
- 31:05comes unless the father draws them.
- 31:09And so, we invite you to receive that forgiveness today.
- 31:15For God. So loved the world that he gave
- 31:17his only begotten, son, that whoever believes in him would
- 31:21not perish but have everlasting life.
- 31:24For God, did not send his son into the world to condemn the
- 31:27world, but that the world through him, might be saved.
- 31:31He who believes in Him is not condemned, but he who does not
- 31:35believe is condemned already. Because he has not believed in
- 31:38the name of the only begotten Son of God.
- 31:41And this is the condemnation that light.
- 31:44Has come into the world and Men loved Darkness rather than light
- 31:49because their deeds were evil. Those are the words of Jesus
- 31:53that baby grew up. This is what he taught us that
- 31:56God has great love of available to you today if you would just
- 32:00come. So father, we pray for the Holy
- 32:03Spirit or Holy Spirit to work. Great work in the hearts of
- 32:06those listening right now. For us.
- 32:09I'm so grateful, God. I'm grateful for the gift that
- 32:15you've extended to me. The change that you've
- 32:20accomplished in my life, my family's life.
- 32:24Your sustaining power, I think of every attribute described by
- 32:31Isaiah. And I think how I've enjoyed
- 32:34each one of them in my life. Your faithfulness your goodness.
- 32:39How I'm reminded. Of the turn ality.
- 32:45Do you have Direction? You have answers to the
- 32:47questions that are on my mind to the difficult decisions.
- 32:50I have to make. And God, I pray that those that
- 32:54are here today who have yet to give their life to you, would
- 32:57come to know you in a personal way responding to the work of
- 33:00the spirit happening in them right now.
- 33:06And there would be a real transformation of life from
- 33:09Life, from Darkness, into light, from death into life.
- 33:14And so as we praise a church, I want to invite you.
- 33:17If you're here today and you've never experienced a time in your
- 33:22life where you've confessed your sins before God.
- 33:25And ask them to forgive you. I'm going to ask you to do that
- 33:28right now. I'm asking you to do it
- 33:30publicly. So if you're here today and
- 33:31you'd say, I want to follow Jesus, I want the Forgiveness of
- 33:35sins that you spoke of. Would you just stand to your
- 33:37feet? I want to help you pray to God
- 33:41that your sins might be forgiven.
- 33:43And so wherever you might be in the room here.
- 33:45I invite you to respond by standing to your feet.
- 33:48That way I can see you and I can help you pray and ask God to
- 33:53forgive you and that includes you guys.
- 33:55Down in the Overflow room, or downstairs in the cafe course,
- 33:59out on the radio, or on online somewhere, we don't see you.
- 34:04But sometimes, I don't even see someone in the room.
- 34:07And the neat thing about this is standing is not the mechanism
- 34:11that God Saves you. But here's what, here's why
- 34:13would have some public. Some public acknowledgement.
- 34:17It's because your whole life is public.
- 34:20Everything about your life is public.
- 34:23You have a public relationship with your family, a public
- 34:27relationship with your co-workers, a public
- 34:30relationship with your neighbors, and the roads that
- 34:32you drive on. and despite the common adage in many families,
- 34:37we don't talk about religion or politics, You talk about your
- 34:42relationships. And your relationship with God
- 34:46will radically transform your life?
- 34:49And so who do they would say? That's me to stand to your feet.
- 34:52Today would be the day that God is ministering to you.
- 34:56That God is working in you and I want to help you with.
- 34:59The Bible says if you confess with your mouth.
- 35:02And I'll say a simple prayer that you can say.
- 35:05If it's sincere from the heart, God hears it You could say
- 35:09something like this, God. I admit that I've sinned against
- 35:13you. And I ask you to forgive me of
- 35:16all of my sons. I believe you sent Jesus Christ
- 35:22to live for me. To die for me.
- 35:26And I believe he rose again from the dead to save my soul.
- 35:35And I repent and turn away from my sinful past.
- 35:40And I choose to follow you today.
- 35:45And Father, I know anyone anywhere.
- 35:49That would respond to the drawing of your spirit in their
- 35:52lives, standing or sitting kneeling laying in a hospital
- 35:56bed sitting in a prison cell, doesn't matter?
- 36:00The supernatural work of Salvation happens inside a
- 36:04person. And so I pray for those that
- 36:07would turn to you today. what a tremendous gift received and now
- 36:13the gift of a changed, life is a gift to give And so father, as
- 36:19we move forward in our lives Lord, in these last days, we
- 36:23truly want. to represent you in a way that honors you in a
- 36:28culture in a world, that doesn't And so pour out your spirit on
- 36:33us that we might be found faithful.
- 36:36We pray these things in Jesus holy name and the church says,
- 36:41amen and amen, God bless you. We pray that you've been
- 36:45encouraged by this Bible. Study delivered live from the
