- 0:27Speaker 4: Everyone has an opinion on what, you know, if they
- 0:30Speaker 4: ever changed what the Patriots should have for runout music.
- 0:33Speaker 2: And the problem is they send me these songs.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Hey, it's you know, Dweebled with you know this song,
- 0:38Speaker 4: and I don't know what it is, so I don't
- 0:40Speaker 4: know if.
- 0:40Speaker 2: It's good or not.
- 0:40Speaker 4: It couldn't be the greatest runout song ever. I just
- 0:43Speaker 4: have the time to look up all these songs.
- 0:45Speaker 5: If you're just going to change into something that just
- 0:47Speaker 5: sounds like crazy train, it's like, well it's already crazy train, so.
- 0:52Speaker 4: Let's just take enter the salmon that doesn't sound like
- 0:55Speaker 4: crazy train, right, Yeah, I'd go back.
- 0:57Speaker 2: I like the what is it?
- 0:59Speaker 6: What is.
- 1:02Speaker 5: That the music talent?
- 1:12Speaker 3: I do like crazy Train. I always think I've always
- 1:14Speaker 3: liked it.
- 1:15Speaker 2: David Schuman was such a pussy.
- 1:17Speaker 7: This is Patriot's Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website.

- 1:23Speaker 2: Com all right, welcome the Patriots unfiltered.
- 1:28Speaker 4: It is Thursday here at chi Let's Stadium, and uh,
- 1:32Speaker 4: we're going to talk about what we saw yesterday at practice. Right,
- 1:35Speaker 4: that's the big topic of the day. It's Alex, it's Mike,
- 1:40Speaker 4: it's Evan, it's Paul.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Yeah, people know he was. You get a nice haircut there? Yeah?
- 1:47Speaker 7: Got a service?
- 1:49Speaker 2: Are you?
- 1:50Speaker 3: I'm getting my football today?
- 1:52Speaker 2: Five? Five years high phone? Do you get a football
- 1:55Speaker 2: for five?
- 1:55Speaker 3: I don't know. I think so I thought between the two.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, so what Deuce is talking about.
- 2:01Speaker 4: We have annual company service awards, so everybody gathers, they
- 2:05Speaker 4: give us food and people five, ten, fifteen, twenty so
- 2:09Speaker 4: on getting awards for their service.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Thank you for your service. Twenty five, Yeah, twenty five.
- 2:15Speaker 2: You're up today?
- 2:15Speaker 3: Yeah you're twenty seven.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Nice.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yes, it lags behind the little Patriots.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Mate, I'm thirty, but I'm not being recognized because I
- 2:23Speaker 4: haven't been here thirty four years.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Yeah, anyway, that's an inside joke. So Deuce is all
- 2:29Speaker 2: but it's true.
- 2:30Speaker 5: Dressed up.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Deuce is all dressed up for that.
- 2:33Speaker 8: You guys coordinated, Yes, tell me my favorite color.
- 2:36Speaker 3: It is kind of an odd color that we both
- 2:38Speaker 3: wore in the same day. Good color, like very spring.
- 2:41Speaker 2: All right, great, Freddy, So let's let's jump right into it.
- 2:45Speaker 2: We had David Simmer.
- 2:47Speaker 8: One of choked on your Pepsi one of.
- 2:51Speaker 4: The open OTAs that we had full access to. So
- 2:56Speaker 4: what stood out to you guys yesterday?
- 2:57Speaker 2: Let's stood out lots of stuff.
- 2:59Speaker 7: I mean, I thought it was maybe a little cleaner
- 3:03Speaker 7: as far as Drake may goes with, you know, one
- 3:05Speaker 7: of the interceptions that with the headline from the first
- 3:07Speaker 7: one still some issues though fumbled snap wasn't It doesn't
- 3:11Speaker 7: seem like the offense is really crisp yet, not that
- 3:13Speaker 7: I expect it to be. I would say my big
- 3:16Speaker 7: takeaway hearing from Splaine, who man, he's just intense. I
- 3:19Speaker 7: already told I'm going to be a Roberts Blaine crusher already.
- 3:23Speaker 3: But he's intense.
- 3:24Speaker 7: Listening to Christian Ellis talk about him, he's wise, he's funny.
- 3:27Speaker 7: So it seems like he's really like middle linebackers, are
- 3:30Speaker 7: they all the same? Like you know, it's it's the
- 3:32Speaker 7: same kind of vibe as you want Bentley kind of have,
- 3:33Speaker 7: where these guys are just used to being in the
- 3:35Speaker 7: middle used to directing traffic and just liked what I
- 3:38Speaker 7: had to hear from him.
- 3:39Speaker 3: I think, you know, haven't did a good job. I
- 3:40Speaker 3: read his write up, saw a lot of the same
- 3:42Speaker 3: things he did.
- 3:43Speaker 7: But it's kind of fun because Paul and I sat together,
- 3:45Speaker 7: but we didn't really talk to you yet, so we
- 3:47Speaker 7: haven't really regrouped on on our thoughts of all the takeaways.
- 3:49Speaker 3: But a lot of plays, you know, a lot lots
- 3:50Speaker 3: of takeaway I think, I don't.
- 3:52Speaker 4: I like what s Blaine said about you know what
- 3:54Speaker 4: he tells the line you know you guys can make
- 3:56Speaker 4: you right.
- 3:56Speaker 2: I'll make you right.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I like that too.
- 3:58Speaker 2: I like that too. That was good. You know.
- 4:00Speaker 7: I think Javon Baker some issues with him as well
- 4:03Speaker 7: as jeem Bell, like not running back to the huddle.
- 4:05Speaker 7: And you can see for Abel really wanting guys to
- 4:09Speaker 7: practice with tempo, and for the most part, you see
- 4:11Speaker 7: that throughout the practice there's really good energy.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Guys are running from drill to drill.
- 4:16Speaker 7: But when guys, you know, like Javon Baker made a play,
- 4:19Speaker 7: then he kind of paused and flexed a little bit,
- 4:21Speaker 7: and everybody's going back to the huddle and then I
- 4:23Speaker 7: get back to the until we tell you you know,
- 4:25Speaker 7: it's a little bit of what we saw last year
- 4:27Speaker 7: from Baker in that regard.
- 4:29Speaker 3: And last point I'll just make because I think Kyle
- 4:31Speaker 3: Wims made me a couple of nice catches yesterday.
- 4:33Speaker 7: Also had a fumble which I think it was after
- 4:35Speaker 7: the whistle though, just kidding, but yeah, so it was.
- 4:41Speaker 7: It was a really lot going on. Good day, good
- 4:43Speaker 7: day not I mean, I don't know that I was.
- 4:45Speaker 7: There's still over some fire where yeah, there wasn't you know.
- 4:48Speaker 7: It's it's not training camp. First a pads come on
- 4:51Speaker 7: kind of practices, they're they're working through stuff.
- 4:53Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I thought that I wrote a right up
- 4:56Speaker 5: about my observations this morning. But Robert Spoay and I
- 5:00Speaker 5: felt like was in the offensive huddle like maybe he's
- 5:03Speaker 5: one of those guys that has great play recognition, and
- 5:06Speaker 5: I think once you start to see the same looks
- 5:08Speaker 5: from the offense over and over again in practice, it
- 5:11Speaker 5: was it was like he was two steps ahead of
- 5:13Speaker 5: everybody to the ball, almost to the point where I
- 5:16Speaker 5: thought maybe he was kind of like knew the plays
- 5:18Speaker 5: before the play was even run. So maybe the that's good,
- 5:23Speaker 5: I mean He definitely flies to the ball, There's no
- 5:25Speaker 5: question about that. I think offensively with Drake May, you're
- 5:29Speaker 5: still seeing maybe a little bit of a learning curve
- 5:32Speaker 5: there with this Josh McDaniels offense, it just doesn't seem
- 5:35Speaker 5: like he's playing fast like it is. The timing of it,
- 5:38Speaker 5: the rhythm of it. The ball is not coming out
- 5:40Speaker 5: as quickly as it was before.
- 5:42Speaker 4: From what you can tell, and obviously we don't know
- 5:45Speaker 4: the play that they're calling up. Does it look like
- 5:47Speaker 4: it should does the play? Is the play being designed
- 5:50Speaker 4: that it should be that rhythmic get it out of them?
- 5:53Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 5:53Speaker 5: Like, and at times like yesterday, I thought there were
- 5:57Speaker 5: times where there was maybe some accuracy or just like
- 6:00Speaker 5: miscommunication things going on as well, which is expected this
- 6:03Speaker 5: time of year. But one throw that stood out to
- 6:06Speaker 5: me is he had a little incut to Hunter Henry
- 6:08Speaker 5: that he was early and like sailed it over his head.
- 6:11Speaker 5: And I've seen Drake May make that throw in his sleep.
- 6:13Speaker 5: Like that's a throw that even last year he made
- 6:16Speaker 5: regularly to multiple receivers. You know, that backside dig cut
- 6:20Speaker 5: type of thing. So there's still some ways to go
- 6:24Speaker 5: with that, but it's not like that I don't think
- 6:26Speaker 5: the light is ever going to come on. It's just
- 6:29Speaker 5: more like what we saw from him beginning of last
- 6:32Speaker 5: year in rookie training camp to maybe halfway through the summer,
- 6:36Speaker 5: it started to really click for him. Hopefully this time
- 6:39Speaker 5: around it's you know, it starts to click for him
- 6:41Speaker 5: in July instead of August. But that's sort of where
- 6:44Speaker 5: I feel like we're at it. It feels a little
- 6:46Speaker 5: bit similar to what it did when he first got
- 6:48Speaker 5: in here last year.
- 6:49Speaker 7: Yeah, so I thought remondros Stevenson looked back out there.
- 6:53Speaker 7: We haven't seen him as father passed away, but I
- 6:54Speaker 7: thought he looked like he's in good shape of a
- 6:57Speaker 7: very brief kind of work at the end when they
- 7:00Speaker 7: were doing walk through stuff.
- 7:01Speaker 3: I know Bdarda said that too.
- 7:03Speaker 7: It's hard to tell, Like I hate kind of saying
- 7:04Speaker 7: that stuff because you don't really know, but to me,
- 7:07Speaker 7: it kind of stood out that he looked like he
- 7:09Speaker 7: was in pretty good shape.
- 7:10Speaker 3: And yeah, I always my takeaways from those kinds of
- 7:12Speaker 3: things are always like the last impression you have of
- 7:16Speaker 3: the players is the end of a grinding season and
- 7:19Speaker 3: then you see them in shorts like in May and June,
- 7:23Speaker 3: and they look quick and fresh and right energetic. You know,
- 7:26Speaker 3: so I understand what your trepidation is to say, like,
- 7:29Speaker 3: it looks like it's in better shit. I agreed. I
- 7:31Speaker 3: thought he looked quick and he was bouncing around a
- 7:34Speaker 3: little bit. But you just wonder, is that just you know,
- 7:37Speaker 3: six months or fresh legs, just a running back, right,
- 7:39Speaker 3: I mean, by the end of that season he is
- 7:40Speaker 3: torn up. Yeah, yeah, but yeah, I would agree with
- 7:43Speaker 3: both both of you guys. I thought it was a
- 7:44Speaker 3: little sloppy again offensively, and I have to think that
- 7:47Speaker 3: that's at least partly hopefully due to just sort of
- 7:50Speaker 3: the transition with with the new system.
- 7:52Speaker 4: And how about impressions of coaching out there, like coaches
- 7:56Speaker 4: that are involved styles, you know.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Who's who's most vocal that type of thing.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I mean, I pumped up Scott Booker.
- 8:04Speaker 7: I didn't really notice him as much yesterday, to be honest,
- 8:06Speaker 7: not a lot of coaches caught my radar yesterday. One
- 8:08Speaker 7: thing I did say to Paul and maybe you can
- 8:10Speaker 7: you can Evan two. Have we seen that before where
- 8:14Speaker 7: they have the first team offense and defense or the
- 8:16Speaker 7: top guys kind him on the right field running drills,
- 8:18Speaker 7: and then the second team or third team of the
- 8:20Speaker 7: rest of the guys and the defense on the left field,
- 8:22Speaker 7: and they're all in. I'm sorry, the wide receiver, the
- 8:25Speaker 7: Todd downing he was coaching up the offense. I just
- 8:29Speaker 7: I don't remember. Maybe I'm misremembering, but I don't remember
- 8:32Speaker 7: ever seeing two units going at once on simultaneously on
- 8:36Speaker 7: the two fields, So I don't know if I'm.
- 8:38Speaker 5: Doing it before I seen that. Yeah, yeah, I like
- 8:41Speaker 5: spliad field. Yeah, yeah, I've seen it a little bit now.
- 8:44Speaker 5: Usually it depends on where all the quarterbacks go. And
- 8:47Speaker 5: I think one of the notable things about the way
- 8:50Speaker 5: they've been doing it now is that Drake has been
- 8:51Speaker 5: alone with the starters on one side, and then Dobbs
- 8:55Speaker 5: and Woolridge are on the other field right, So sometimes
- 8:59Speaker 5: you'll see the the starter and the backup quarterback together
- 9:02Speaker 5: on one side of the field, mixing in and then
- 9:05Speaker 5: like the you know.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Opportunity, opportunity. You've seen that how they ended it yesterday. Yeah,
- 9:10Speaker 3: with May and Dobbs on on the right side. And
- 9:13Speaker 3: I've only seen by himself on the one field, and
- 9:16Speaker 3: I would say that that's what it to me. It's
- 9:18Speaker 3: Bill used to do that instead of simultaneous. Bill would
- 9:22Speaker 3: do it after sort of after practice the opportunity kind.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Well, I've seen that, but I've also seen like, Okay,
- 9:28Speaker 4: we're not supposed to say who's first team, but we've
- 9:30Speaker 4: seen like first team defense against second team offense on
- 9:34Speaker 4: one side, first team offense with second team.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Defense on the other side.
- 9:39Speaker 3: This is different. You're right about that. This is more
- 9:42Speaker 3: like kind of end of the practice walk through stuff.
- 9:45Speaker 5: Okay, jogging through. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think from the
- 9:49Speaker 5: coaching perspective, just watching McDaniels a little bit, he still
- 9:53Speaker 5: has that that Belichick in him of like I'm just
- 9:57Speaker 5: gonna call players from the sideline and I'm not going
- 9:59Speaker 5: to make corrections. Yeah he does the whistle. Yeah, I'm
- 10:02Speaker 5: not gonna you know, I'm not gonna step in mid
- 10:05Speaker 5: rep and be like no, this is We're gonna correct
- 10:07Speaker 5: all that kind of stuff in the film room, after practice,
- 10:11Speaker 5: in the meeting rooms. There was a point yesterday towards
- 10:14Speaker 5: the end of practice when it was still live that
- 10:16Speaker 5: he was just calling plays like they weren't going off
- 10:19Speaker 5: as script, they weren't going off cards. He was just
- 10:21Speaker 5: with the headset on Drake May and the huddle relaying
- 10:24Speaker 5: plays like you would on game day, and that was
- 10:26Speaker 5: always a big build thing, like we're going to practice
- 10:28Speaker 5: like it's a it's a game, even in May. So
- 10:31Speaker 5: I thought that was interesting that they they're kind of
- 10:34Speaker 5: going back to that a little bit, Whereas the West
- 10:36Speaker 5: Coast coaches last year it was rep corrections, rep corrections,
- 10:42Speaker 5: and it kind of dragged a little bit more, whereas
- 10:44Speaker 5: this one it's like, let's just sequence plays together and
- 10:47Speaker 5: we'll run eight ten plays in a row, and then
- 10:50Speaker 5: we'll take a step back and do corrections and things
- 10:53Speaker 5: like that.
- 10:54Speaker 7: What about the offensive line, I was just gonna say
- 10:56Speaker 7: that I think there's a big rotation and competition in
- 10:59Speaker 7: left guard. I think that's what's been apparent to me
- 11:01Speaker 7: with the offense through these first couple practices, is that
- 11:04Speaker 7: everybody's in the mix. Some guys are still not healthy,
- 11:06Speaker 7: they're working back, so it's hard to get a true
- 11:08Speaker 7: sense of it.
- 11:09Speaker 3: But overall, I would say that left guard.
- 11:11Speaker 7: Competition is very wide open and everybody's going to get
- 11:14Speaker 7: a chance to compete there.
- 11:15Speaker 3: Same maybe maybe even center to a little bit. Yeah,
- 11:17Speaker 3: I think you're going to have a lot of competition
- 11:19Speaker 3: for those spots.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Yeah, and.
- 11:23Speaker 3: There's going to be a lot of competition I think
- 11:25Speaker 3: for like that swing tackle spot too. Yeah, I don't
- 11:28Speaker 3: think that that's a done deal. And you said that
- 11:31Speaker 3: there's some guys working through things. I think Mike mentioned
- 11:34Speaker 3: that before practice yesterday. There's still some guys in various states,
- 11:37Speaker 3: as Bill used to say, of conditioning and whatnot. And
- 11:41Speaker 3: I think Morgan Moses has spent a lot of time
- 11:44Speaker 3: sort of, you know, with the with those guys, you know,
- 11:47Speaker 3: and at the beginning of practice walk through and then
- 11:49Speaker 3: when they do something against the defense, sometimes he's in,
- 11:52Speaker 3: sometimes he hasn't been. There's been a lot of rotation there.
- 11:55Speaker 3: I don't think we saw Kayden Wallace yesterday. Yeah, so
- 12:00Speaker 3: I think that's going to be a big competition to
- 12:02Speaker 3: that swing tackle spot.
- 12:04Speaker 4: You know, because the current practice rules I think hurt lineman.
- 12:10Speaker 4: What do you think about in the next CBA or
- 12:13Speaker 4: maybe doing an amendment where you can increase the number
- 12:17Speaker 4: of days that linemen both defense and offense can be
- 12:20Speaker 4: in pads. You know, So there's still no there's still
- 12:23Speaker 4: no tackling or anything like that, but at least they're
- 12:26Speaker 4: in pads so they can hit harder and really get
- 12:31Speaker 4: used to you know, practice game speed. Uh and and
- 12:35Speaker 4: get the reps in that they really need to be ready.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Like what do you think I'm.
- 12:42Speaker 4: Talking about, like even training camp increasing the number of
- 12:45Speaker 4: bad days for linemen.
- 12:48Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I don't know.
- 12:49Speaker 7: I mean, I mean I before, I just I'm sick
- 12:52Speaker 7: of hearing teams complain about how they're not prepared for
- 12:55Speaker 7: the season to start, they're not ready for the physicality
- 12:58Speaker 7: of the league.
- 12:58Speaker 3: And I don't think they're ever going back.
- 13:00Speaker 7: I don't think you're going to ever add more physicality
- 13:02Speaker 7: back to the practices.
- 13:03Speaker 3: I think the NFLPA would.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Practice it unless you're actually hitting.
- 13:10Speaker 3: And I just wonder what the culprit is. Is it
- 13:13Speaker 3: practice time or is it the college systems that they're
- 13:16Speaker 3: coming out of. Yeah, And I don't have the answer
- 13:19Speaker 3: because I'm not smart enough to know.
- 13:20Speaker 2: But even if the college systems are bad, then I
- 13:22Speaker 2: need more practice.
- 13:23Speaker 5: I would say, you know, it can't hurt to have
- 13:26Speaker 5: more practice. No, no, But I think when we watch
- 13:29Speaker 5: these practices, basically the offensive linemen are like in a
- 13:34Speaker 5: basketball stands, just trying to stay in front of a
- 13:37Speaker 5: guy and like if a guy you know, not that
- 13:39Speaker 5: there's much contact, but like you're obviously going to give
- 13:42Speaker 5: up ground when you're not in pads and you're not
- 13:44Speaker 5: really able to get your hands into somebody and sink in.
- 13:46Speaker 5: So a lot of these quarterbacks all three quarters like
- 13:49Speaker 5: they're throwing from muddy pockets because it's easier to push
- 13:52Speaker 5: the pocket, like it's easier to collapse and even.
- 13:55Speaker 2: One drills, you can't do that without pads.
- 13:57Speaker 8: No, they don't know what it's like limiting that time.
- 13:58Speaker 8: Is it like an nflp Yes, yeah, because I don't know.
- 14:02Speaker 8: To me, like, I feel like it would be a
- 14:03Speaker 8: split issue with players, because one they want to be
- 14:06Speaker 8: safe and not get injured. But on the other hand,
- 14:09Speaker 8: if it's if they're at that much of a disadvantage,
- 14:12Speaker 8: I think some guys would have the mentality like, no,
- 14:14Speaker 8: I want to get out there, I want to I
- 14:15Speaker 8: need I.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Need the reps.
- 14:16Speaker 4: And you know, I'm not like I'm not saying it's
- 14:18Speaker 4: full tilt, full time for linemen, but at least we
- 14:22Speaker 4: can have a portion of practice where they're in pads
- 14:25Speaker 4: and they're really getting the reps, real reps in that
- 14:28Speaker 4: they need for them and for us to evaluate. So
- 14:31Speaker 4: the reason like how do we like like Okay, open
- 14:35Speaker 4: competition for left guard?
- 14:36Speaker 2: How do I know who's good right now? You can't?
- 14:39Speaker 3: Well now, no, no, So there's more than they used
- 14:42Speaker 3: to get.
- 14:42Speaker 4: No, but I know, but like competition, like, how are
- 14:44Speaker 4: they competing if they're not in pads and they're playing
- 14:47Speaker 4: the way practicing the way they play, how do I know?
- 14:51Speaker 2: I would?
- 14:51Speaker 3: I would just say the whole thing with pat and
- 14:53Speaker 3: I get it. You know, everybody, you know it's never
- 14:56Speaker 3: as good as it used to be, right, they have
- 14:59Speaker 3: three opportunities and full pads that most every team doesn't
- 15:02Speaker 3: take any advantage of three preseason games. These guys don't
- 15:06Speaker 3: play in them. So if this is all about pad
- 15:09Speaker 3: you know, time in pads in practice, well there's plenty.
- 15:11Speaker 3: This is sixty minute practice that you just passed up,
- 15:14Speaker 3: and you have three of them, and they generally don't
- 15:17Speaker 3: play more than ten snaps combined. Yeah, so I'm a
- 15:21Speaker 3: little tired of hearing about how they're not ready. It's
- 15:23Speaker 3: just all these poor got like they have an opportunity
- 15:26Speaker 3: to be ready, that's true, and the teams choose not to.
- 15:29Speaker 3: I agree with the team's approach. By the way, I
- 15:31Speaker 3: wouldn't play my start as any significant time in the
- 15:33Speaker 3: preseason either.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Well, that's why you have those joint practices.
- 15:36Speaker 3: But I think it's you're not ready. You're not ready,
- 15:39Speaker 3: that's on you.
- 15:40Speaker 5: Isn't It a little different though for Morgan Moses who's
- 15:43Speaker 5: been in the league for fifteen years. And I don't
- 15:45Speaker 5: need to see Morgan Moses out there really at all,
- 15:48Speaker 5: Like I'll see you week one. But like if you're
- 15:50Speaker 5: a guy that's trying to make the team or trying.
- 15:52Speaker 3: To generally play in the preseason, right.
- 15:55Speaker 5: But if you're a rookie that's trying to Will Campbell,
- 15:58Speaker 5: and Will Campbell is trying to figure out the NFL
- 16:01Speaker 5: and the speed of the NFL and all that kind
- 16:04Speaker 5: of stuff, Like you know, he's going to be thrown
- 16:06Speaker 5: into the fire week one. He's gonna start at left
- 16:09Speaker 5: tackle and he might have Max Crosby lined up across
- 16:12Speaker 5: from him week one.
- 16:13Speaker 3: So if he doesn't play in the preseason, I don't
- 16:15Speaker 3: want to hear about he didn't have enough practices.
- 16:17Speaker 5: It wasn't really, Yeah, I just that's the difference. Like
- 16:21Speaker 5: where it hurts, I think is the back end of
- 16:24Speaker 5: the roster, guys that you never know, like maybe a
- 16:28Speaker 5: Tyres Robinson, would develop into a starting guard with more opportunities,
- 16:32Speaker 5: But there just isn't enough opportunities to go around right now,
- 16:36Speaker 5: way that the whole thing is set up that he
- 16:39Speaker 5: probably never is going to get that chance. Now. I'm
- 16:41Speaker 5: not saying that Tyre's Robinson's secretly you know, John Hannah,
- 16:44Speaker 5: but like maybe he's a better player than he's given
- 16:47Speaker 5: credit for if he had the opportunities and he had
- 16:49Speaker 5: time to develop.
- 16:50Speaker 7: I wonder if there's a way to find some nuance
- 16:52Speaker 7: in it, because it seems like it's black and white,
- 16:54Speaker 7: whether it's a padded practice or a non padded practice.
- 16:56Speaker 7: And like, to your point, Fred, what is the real issue?
- 16:59Speaker 7: Is it defense backs tackling in the open field? Is
- 17:01Speaker 7: that what's or is it offensive lineman and defensive lineman
- 17:04Speaker 7: not used to the physicality that happens in the trenches.
- 17:07Speaker 7: Is there a way maybe to your point and kind
- 17:09Speaker 7: of what Alex is saying is to target specific practices
- 17:12Speaker 7: where okay, you know, like it's okay to tackle this one.
- 17:14Speaker 7: It's not a full contact practice, We're not, but today
- 17:16Speaker 7: where there's gonna be two periods where you're allowed to
- 17:19Speaker 7: do trench work or something like that. And I also say,
- 17:22Speaker 7: to Alex's point, is there a way to find some
- 17:24Speaker 7: kind of evidence to tell the players why it might
- 17:27Speaker 7: be beneficial, whether it's injury or just performance.
- 17:31Speaker 8: I mean, every year, oh linman, lineman in general just
- 17:34Speaker 8: drop like flies. So has it made a tangible difference?
- 17:38Speaker 2: Right?
- 17:38Speaker 8: You know, like is it hurting them? Is it helping them?
- 17:42Speaker 8: I don't know if you'll ever be able to actually well.
- 17:44Speaker 4: They talk about, you know, I'm in shape, but I'm
- 17:46Speaker 4: not in football shape, And to me that means getting hit,
- 17:50Speaker 4: you know, getting the body hardened, you know, from hitting.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Now I get it.
- 17:54Speaker 4: OTAs you're gonna have these, you're gonna have mini camp,
- 17:57Speaker 4: then they're gonna be a break. So there's no sense
- 17:58Speaker 4: in getting into football shop shape now because of the break.
- 18:02Speaker 4: But I think once training camp starts, that's my goal
- 18:05Speaker 4: is to get into football shape.
- 18:07Speaker 8: And that's not to say that the player safety changes
- 18:09Speaker 8: aren't important, like I personally think many of those are.
- 18:14Speaker 8: It's the right line of thinking. But I wonder if,
- 18:17Speaker 8: like the NFLPA took all those guys and just pose
- 18:20Speaker 8: another vote, now that they've seen kind of both sides
- 18:23Speaker 8: of it, how it would fall.
- 18:24Speaker 5: Well, I think the issue is is. You know, I
- 18:26Speaker 5: brought up Morgan Moses and I'm not saying him specifically
- 18:29Speaker 5: had this opinion. But the veterans are going to feel
- 18:31Speaker 5: differently about this than the young players. And most of
- 18:34Speaker 5: the time, the people that are in charge at the NFLPA,
- 18:36Speaker 5: the players that are representing the players, are veteran guys.
- 18:40Speaker 5: So those veteran players want nothing to do with training
- 18:42Speaker 5: camp like, they don't want to.
- 18:44Speaker 3: They hate it, and Ian Campbell's probably saying, yeah, let's
- 18:47Speaker 3: go coming right out of LSU, right, this is what
- 18:49Speaker 3: we do with LSU. I want to continue to do it. So,
- 18:52Speaker 3: but you're right, they veterans are the ones with the
- 18:54Speaker 3: louder voices of them.
- 18:56Speaker 5: Right. So if they're the voices and they're the ones
- 18:58Speaker 5: that are lobbying for certain things, they're gonna lobby for
- 19:01Speaker 5: less contact and practice because they don't want to get hit, right.
- 19:04Speaker 5: But the younger players are the guys that are fringe
- 19:07Speaker 5: roster players that are competing for roster spots, Like, those
- 19:10Speaker 5: guys want to participate, They want to they want to
- 19:13Speaker 5: give it their all and have the.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Opportunity to tell the young guys this is how we're voting.
- 19:19Speaker 3: This is what you're you vote no on too.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Sure, yeah, yeah, And you know, I it's you know,
- 19:24Speaker 4: and then you get to the owners and how they're
- 19:26Speaker 4: part of all these negotiations, and you know, I think
- 19:30Speaker 4: their their feeling is listen, you want to practice lest
- 19:33Speaker 4: we don't care as long as it doesn't.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Affect the bottom line.
- 19:36Speaker 4: But I think it's shortsighted because the quality of the
- 19:40Speaker 4: game eventually will affect the bottom line. So I do
- 19:44Speaker 4: worry about that long term.
- 19:48Speaker 5: You know, there's like three teams that think they have
- 19:50Speaker 5: a good offensive line. It's like the Eagles, the Lions,
- 19:54Speaker 5: and and maybe that's it. Everybody else thinks that their
- 19:57Speaker 5: offensive line stinks or has holes on the offensive line,
- 20:00Speaker 5: and then they look around and they're like, well, you're
- 20:02Speaker 5: not developing any offensive linemen like that. That's what it is.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Like.
- 20:05Speaker 5: I don't know if it's necessarily just about contact. It's
- 20:08Speaker 5: also about technique, Like playing offensive line is such a
- 20:12Speaker 5: major technique position and it's not a natural technique, like
- 20:16Speaker 5: throwing a football and catching a football is a natural
- 20:19Speaker 5: human like movement. Blocking in the past set is not
- 20:23Speaker 5: a natural like you have to learn.
- 20:25Speaker 2: That passing camp. Maybe you should have line camp you know.
- 20:28Speaker 8: I or like special rules for Ricky mini camps where
- 20:34Speaker 8: they can get acclimated like that.
- 20:36Speaker 5: I don't know, it just it's it's unique, you know.
- 20:39Speaker 4: So maybe some type of exception for the lineman to
- 20:43Speaker 4: do a little bit more contact along the way.
- 20:46Speaker 5: I would have them play in the spring leagues. Like
- 20:48Speaker 5: not not Will Campbell, but like if you're like the UFL, Yeah,
- 20:53Speaker 5: if you were a lineman that was the fifty third
- 20:56Speaker 5: guy or as a practice squad guy last year, would
- 21:00Speaker 5: allow maybe you have some sort of you know, agreement
- 21:03Speaker 5: waiver or something like that in case of injury, but
- 21:06Speaker 5: I allow allow those players to go get live in
- 21:10Speaker 5: game developmental reps in in the spring league and allow
- 21:14Speaker 5: them to go it that way. We talk about this
- 21:15Speaker 5: on Catch twenty two all the time. We feel like
- 21:17Speaker 5: this is like something that could really benefit both sides.
- 21:21Speaker 5: And then like Siko's like Bart and I would like
- 21:23Speaker 5: watch you know, the practice squad Patriot Tigers development for
- 21:28Speaker 5: the Utah breakdowns of like you know, this guy's on
- 21:32Speaker 5: like the BattleHawks or whatever, and like you know, Efton
- 21:36Speaker 5: Chisholm's catching like ten passes a game for whatever team.
- 21:41Speaker 5: I just there'd be interest from that angle, but also
- 21:44Speaker 5: I think it would help in the long run with development.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Does sports have the UFL like inside and out?
- 21:48Speaker 5: Is he?
- 21:48Speaker 3: I mean, is he He's.
- 21:49Speaker 8: All over the tea?
- 21:51Speaker 5: Yeah, definitely. Yesterday we were talking about this exact thing
- 21:55Speaker 5: in terms of letting the players go in and I
- 21:57Speaker 5: asked him. I was like, how many teams are in
- 21:58Speaker 5: the UFL? Eight? Yeah, I couldn't even. He was like,
- 22:01Speaker 5: but I think they might be ten next year and
- 22:02Speaker 5: I was like ten. He knows the scuttle how many
- 22:06Speaker 5: players And apparently like Dwayne the Rock Johnson is like
- 22:10Speaker 5: the owner right now, like he's the money behind it.
- 22:12Speaker 5: And yeah, it's all news too.
- 22:15Speaker 3: I know Barth likes golf, so is this eating into
- 22:17Speaker 3: his spring golf time?
- 22:18Speaker 2: Like it was?
- 22:19Speaker 3: He like, oh, great, spring football. I have something to
- 22:21Speaker 3: do on Saturdays.
- 22:21Speaker 9: Now.
- 22:22Speaker 3: I don't know myself watching a series or two of
- 22:25Speaker 3: every game when they're on, just like clicking around. I
- 22:28Speaker 3: don't stick with it. It's not great. And the fact
- 22:30Speaker 3: that there's absolutely nobody there it takes away till you
- 22:35Speaker 3: know what I mean.
- 22:35Speaker 5: I can't help about the attendance, but in all serious watch.
- 22:39Speaker 2: A game there's no one there watching else.
- 22:41Speaker 4: I felt that way in twenty twenty. I'd rather watch
- 22:43Speaker 4: collegiate softball.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Than spring collegiate unbeliever.
- 22:47Speaker 5: Yeah, but in all seriousness, people like me and people
- 22:52Speaker 5: like Bartha you know real siccos if you put Patriots
- 22:55Speaker 5: players that are on the Patriots ninety man roster into
- 22:59Speaker 5: the spring league and it was like a pipeline to
- 23:01Speaker 5: the NFL, we'd have we'd probably right up about it.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Like I wouldn't. I would have. I wouldn't watch it
- 23:08Speaker 3: anymore than I do. But I like your you know,
- 23:13Speaker 3: because I think there's a lot of guys. There's a
- 23:14Speaker 3: lot of NFL names. If you click it on and listen,
- 23:16Speaker 3: you're going to hear two or three names that you
- 23:18Speaker 3: know in the NFL. Maybe you like Keem Butler, Remember
- 23:23Speaker 3: Keen Butler from Iowa.
- 23:24Speaker 5: Yeah, but he's not on a ninety man rock.
- 23:25Speaker 3: I'm just saying there are NFL names. They don't make
- 23:28Speaker 3: me want to watch anymore.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Like C J.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Marrabel, Yeah, I didn't like.
- 23:32Speaker 5: I wasn't necessarily.
- 23:35Speaker 3: So Tyree Robinson again, you know, all drew respect to
- 23:37Speaker 3: Tyreus Robinson. His presence on the Birmingham Stallions isn't going
- 23:40Speaker 3: to make me watch that game anymore than you.
- 23:42Speaker 5: Know, I'd be looking for the All twenty two.
- 23:44Speaker 4: But you know, next year, it would be next year,
- 23:47Speaker 4: if if, if they if the players, if it was
- 23:49Speaker 4: the player's option, and Kyle Williams wanted to play spring
- 23:52Speaker 4: ball next year, would you watch me?
- 23:55Speaker 3: No, I mean I would watch like I do now.
- 23:58Speaker 3: You know in passing, Oh, I would be men the
- 24:01Speaker 3: mini Patriots and you had like an HL that's different,
- 24:06Speaker 3: like a spring that would be different. I'd be more
- 24:07Speaker 3: wrapped because that's but that's my job. But that would
- 24:10Speaker 3: be tough to do. I think there's not I think
- 24:13Speaker 3: that really what we're talking about. You know, I brought
- 24:15Speaker 3: up like Chisholm, like right, we were talking about guys
- 24:18Speaker 3: that are like the sixth or seventh receiver on a
- 24:21Speaker 3: ninety man roster that maybe having some live game reps
- 24:24Speaker 3: against other you know, pseudo pros.
- 24:27Speaker 5: It's kind of like the Senior Bowl. I absolutely love
- 24:30Speaker 5: have that opportunity.
- 24:32Speaker 8: Yeah, me and Matis did one of these questions on
- 24:34Speaker 8: p U extras and you actually kind of changed my mind.
- 24:37Speaker 5: Wow, We've kicked around this idea for years.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Because as a minor league. Yeah, I absolutely love that idea.
- 24:47Speaker 3: I just I mean in terms of general I mean,
- 24:50Speaker 3: if there was a Patriots centric team, you know, so
- 24:52Speaker 3: there's thirty you know, I want to be Patriots on it.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Now.
- 24:56Speaker 3: I'm watching that because that's part.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Of my job.
- 24:59Speaker 5: Like the age.
- 24:59Speaker 8: It's like you you.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Said, the college I'd rather watch college softball in the
- 25:03Speaker 3: preseason games too.
- 25:05Speaker 2: We have that, listen, you know.
- 25:07Speaker 4: To take that idea to the next level, if every
- 25:10Speaker 4: NFL team had a farm team and you played those games,
- 25:14Speaker 4: you know it's a shortened schedule, eight games or whatever,
- 25:17Speaker 4: and you played those games in their facility, I think
- 25:20Speaker 4: people would.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Come out and watch that.
- 25:22Speaker 3: They'd be more, they'd be more.
- 25:23Speaker 5: I think it'd be tough to do to have all
- 25:25Speaker 5: thirty two teams have a farm team just because of
- 25:27Speaker 5: sheared numbers, like when they have enough players to field teams.
- 25:31Speaker 5: But I think that you could probably do something where,
- 25:35Speaker 5: you know, maybe half a dozen.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Players had a team.
- 25:39Speaker 5: Sure, yeah, now we're talking. Yeah. And the other thing
- 25:41Speaker 5: that we threw around was, you know, putting them in
- 25:44Speaker 5: schemes that they're going to be running.
- 25:47Speaker 3: That's why you right, But.
- 25:51Speaker 5: Like let's say instead of the AFC East team, like
- 25:54Speaker 5: let's say one of them is one team is running
- 25:56Speaker 5: like the Shanahan West Coast and one of them is
- 25:59Speaker 5: running the McDaniel ZP system and the others running the
- 26:01Speaker 5: Andy Reid West Coast, and then those teams can send
- 26:04Speaker 5: their players to those specific teams. So like the Miami
- 26:08Speaker 5: Dolphins could say we're gonna we're going.
- 26:10Speaker 8: To sending your guy to a train.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Yeah, but I think Evans Evans playing could work. I
- 26:16Speaker 3: think if you gave it, you know that there's some
- 26:18Speaker 3: things that you'd have to iron out. But what if
- 26:21Speaker 3: you have what did you say, a dozen or so? Yeah,
- 26:24Speaker 3: so let's just let's just say it's ten to fifteen
- 26:26Speaker 3: players from every team, and then you fill it in
- 26:29Speaker 3: with the rest of the players that are playing now
- 26:31Speaker 3: right exactly right right.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Not every team has to be on a.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Right right, So you're not going to fill it with
- 26:38Speaker 3: you know, thirty five or forty guys, because you know,
- 26:41Speaker 3: ninety man roster, there's not that many guys that are
- 26:44Speaker 3: fighting for an NFL job. But you take a dozen
- 26:47Speaker 3: or so guys that you know would be benefiting from that,
- 26:52Speaker 3: and then you put them in with all the guys
- 26:53Speaker 3: that are playing now right. Yeah, you could have a
- 26:56Speaker 3: league and they would be more interested in that league
- 26:58Speaker 3: than there is now.
- 27:00Speaker 4: I also want to talk about a story that you posted,
- 27:04Speaker 4: I think it was yesterday on Ted Harper. Our nutrition
- 27:06Speaker 4: is really good stuff.
- 27:08Speaker 8: You thank you.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Ted's been a guy who's been with the team.
- 27:11Speaker 4: For like twenty years now, fourteen fourteen, and always you know,
- 27:16Speaker 4: what's that?
- 27:19Speaker 2: What's that?
- 27:19Speaker 3: He said?
- 27:19Speaker 5: Thanks for reading.
- 27:22Speaker 4: I just I'm just going off. You know, I did
- 27:26Speaker 4: actually read it. But we don't hear a lot from him.
- 27:32Speaker 4: I know we didn't do your Job video of him
- 27:34Speaker 4: years ago that did very well on YouTube, but in
- 27:37Speaker 4: terms of the anecdotes that he shared with you, I'd
- 27:40Speaker 4: never heard of that sty either.
- 27:41Speaker 8: And honestly, my first week here on the job, I
- 27:45Speaker 8: pitched a story with Ted at that point because it
- 27:48Speaker 8: was his tenth season and I just wanted to hear
- 27:50Speaker 8: about kind of how the evolution of like player mentality
- 27:53Speaker 8: around nutrition had changed, because I mean, back in the day,
- 27:57Speaker 8: everyone looked at Tom Brady and his avocado ice cream
- 28:00Speaker 8: like he was a Martian, right, But now I think
- 28:03Speaker 8: it's more in vogue to be thinking about that stuff.
- 28:06Speaker 8: So I had always wanted to just kind of talk
- 28:08Speaker 8: to him about that stuff, and Ted and I spoke
- 28:10Speaker 8: for almost two hours just on the phone in the
- 28:13Speaker 8: initial call, and then that's not even including like the
- 28:16Speaker 8: back and forth we had on email, like almost for
- 28:18Speaker 8: a full week following that. But some really cool stories
- 28:22Speaker 8: I had never heard, Like I didn't I think, like
- 28:24Speaker 8: I had heard that High Tower had food poisoning before
- 28:28Speaker 8: the Super Bowl against the Rams, but it was kind
- 28:30Speaker 8: of like a small thing after the fact, but like
- 28:33Speaker 8: he had full blown food poisoning, like a few days
- 28:35Speaker 8: before Super Bowl fifty three, and him and Ted were
- 28:38Speaker 8: just tied at the hip, like monitoring every calorie, all
- 28:42Speaker 8: the hydration that went into him, and you would have
- 28:45Speaker 8: never known watching that game. Really cool stuff about Patrick Chung.
- 28:51Speaker 8: How Chung was like so versatile for the defenses, and
- 28:54Speaker 8: part of it was because he was working with Ted
- 28:58Speaker 8: any given week to either drop to match up with
- 29:02Speaker 8: like a fast, agile like receiver like tight end, or
- 29:05Speaker 8: if he was playing in the box, he would bulk
- 29:07Speaker 8: up a little bit to take on like those blocking
- 29:09Speaker 8: tight end matchups. And there's just so much cool side.
- 29:12Speaker 4: I thought it was interesting the whole thing with Brady.
- 29:14Speaker 4: When Brady decided himself, okay, I'm gonna start worrying about.
- 29:19Speaker 8: My nutrition more.
- 29:20Speaker 2: You know.
- 29:21Speaker 4: Before TV twelve, he went to Ted and sort of
- 29:23Speaker 4: felt him out, and Ted said that he kind of
- 29:26Speaker 4: felt like he was being tested.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Like yeah, do I trust this guy?
- 29:29Speaker 8: Yeah, because after Brady got hurt, that's when he started
- 29:32Speaker 8: taking that stuff seriously. And then Ted comes in maybe
- 29:36Speaker 8: three seasons after, so you're right, like he was like
- 29:38Speaker 8: almost testing him, like asking questions one because I think
- 29:41Speaker 8: Tom was genuinely really curious, but also like is this
- 29:44Speaker 8: guy legit?
- 29:45Speaker 2: Does he know?
- 29:45Speaker 8: And like he's so legit? I had no clue that
- 29:48Speaker 8: he used to work with Special Operations Forces, right he was.
- 29:52Speaker 3: That's the one factor what I knew.
- 29:53Speaker 8: Yeah, like the one dietitian for the US Army special
- 29:57Speaker 8: ops like bad as a mother efforts, you know, like
- 30:02Speaker 8: just and then that was a job he kind of
- 30:06Speaker 8: stumbled to didn't know if you wanted to get into
- 30:09Speaker 8: sports or not, but was really happy doing what he
- 30:11Speaker 8: was doing. And then just went to a conference and
- 30:14Speaker 8: Bear's Nigerian happened to be there once and they were like, hey,
- 30:17Speaker 8: we'd love for you to interview, and he said turned
- 30:19Speaker 8: them down because he thought it would be disrespectful to
- 30:21Speaker 8: the Army and the guys he was working with, and
- 30:24Speaker 8: I think they the Patriots tried to get him every
- 30:26Speaker 8: single day of that conference to interview, and then he
- 30:29Speaker 8: finally did and got the job.
- 30:31Speaker 2: And he just won an award.
- 30:35Speaker 8: Yes, the Association for Professional I'm going to mess up
- 30:41Speaker 8: the acronym. It's the Association for Professional Sports Dieticians for
- 30:44Speaker 8: both pro sports tactical athletes college sports. They have big
- 30:48Speaker 8: conferences every year. So he won the Excellence Award, which
- 30:52Speaker 8: is I think like one of the five there's five
- 30:55Speaker 8: awards they give out, but that's definitely the top one.
- 30:59Speaker 8: And it was kind of cool because it was a
- 31:00Speaker 8: full circus, full circle moment because his first time attending
- 31:04Speaker 8: that conference in twenty twelve was where he met Beers,
- 31:09Speaker 8: So then now he was back winning that award.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Good stuff.
- 31:12Speaker 4: Yeah, so I highly recommend that article on Patriot dot com.
- 31:16Speaker 7: Did any of his food philosophies conflict with like some
- 31:20Speaker 7: kind of notion, I know, you have a lot of like, oh,
- 31:22Speaker 7: we're geeking out.
- 31:24Speaker 8: I think yeah he was. I think he There was
- 31:27Speaker 8: one question I asked him about just kind of like
- 31:29Speaker 8: the technology they're using. This is stuff that's like super technical,
- 31:32Speaker 8: so it didn't make it into the article. But I
- 31:34Speaker 8: was just asking him about like dexter scans and what
- 31:37Speaker 8: technology they use, and like c cgm's continuous glucose monitors
- 31:42Speaker 8: and I brought up CGMS. She was like, oh wow,
- 31:44Speaker 8: I'm surprised you know what that is. And I was like,
- 31:47Speaker 8: you know, there you go.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I would say you need an assistant.
- 31:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:53Speaker 8: I was like, Ted, I could talk to you all
- 31:54Speaker 8: day and he was like, well, you know, I'm right
- 31:57Speaker 8: down the hall from you. And I was like, yeah,
- 31:59Speaker 8: don't open that invite to because.
- 32:03Speaker 2: They don't understand that. Up until this year.
- 32:05Speaker 8: Well that's what we were not talking about. We were
- 32:08Speaker 8: not allowed to. I've been wanting to talk to you
- 32:11Speaker 8: for four years now, and.
- 32:13Speaker 7: Uh, you could do okay, but I feel like he'd
- 32:15Speaker 7: be like, what are we having for lunch today?
- 32:21Speaker 8: Italian I was like joking with the idea. I don't
- 32:25Speaker 8: I forget who I was talking to, but it would
- 32:26Speaker 8: be funny to have him come in and like get
- 32:28Speaker 8: us all on a or judge because the first the
- 32:34Speaker 8: first assignment Bill gave him Day one of the job
- 32:38Speaker 8: was go up to Vince Wilfork judge his plate and
- 32:41Speaker 8: tell him what's wrong with it, and like that was
- 32:43Speaker 8: literally I don't even know if he signed the paperwork yet,
- 32:46Speaker 8: and he had to go meet with will Fork and
- 32:48Speaker 8: like that's kind of an intimidating thing, right, get out
- 32:52Speaker 8: of my face, Right, it's ris At first, I think
- 32:55Speaker 8: Vince was like, well, that's what I told him. I
- 32:57Speaker 8: was like, it's so funny that it's Vince because in
- 32:59Speaker 8: my hometown he did a sponsorship with Big Y, So
- 33:02Speaker 8: growing up there was always a big billboard of Vince
- 33:05Speaker 8: will Fork on a Big Y like ad with the
- 33:08Speaker 8: Superbird or whatever. It was like fried chicken. So that's
- 33:10Speaker 8: what I kept thinking about. But at first will Fork
- 33:13Speaker 8: was like, who the f is this dude? But then
- 33:15Speaker 8: they find out, like, okay, they're asking him questions. He's
- 33:19Speaker 8: super knowledgeable. And not only that, but like he's coming
- 33:22Speaker 8: from working with some of the baddest people on the planet,
- 33:27Speaker 8: you know, like absolute warrior soldiers. So they respected them,
- 33:32Speaker 8: and then Vince ended up being one of his favorite
- 33:33Speaker 8: guys and they had a great relationship together.
- 33:35Speaker 5: And would.
- 33:41Speaker 3: Yes, I think there's ever been a vegetable here unless
- 33:43Speaker 3: it was on a meatball.
- 33:44Speaker 2: Siam.
- 33:46Speaker 3: Wow, that's.
- 33:51Speaker 5: Deep cut yeah, him judging our dietary choices, I think
- 33:56Speaker 5: would be well, Paul would do great for a while.
- 34:01Speaker 3: There not anymore, back off the wagon. I'm off that
- 34:05Speaker 3: it was. It was good. Awaken one Eddy worked for me,
- 34:08Speaker 3: It absolutely worked for him.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Yeah, sure, has you have to buy a whole new wardrobe.
- 34:12Speaker 8: Yeah, I know we haven't really seen you in the
- 34:15Speaker 8: short sleeps.
- 34:15Speaker 4: Yet, but I said, what are you wearing?
- 34:20Speaker 8: I said, you wear medium large, but it's still hanging
- 34:23Speaker 8: swimming in it.
- 34:24Speaker 2: Yeah I used to.
- 34:25Speaker 3: I mean I went from excel to to regular large.
- 34:28Speaker 8: Well, you could tell you lost in your sweatshirts and
- 34:31Speaker 8: like your quartersip half zips. Excuse me that you're aware,
- 34:35Speaker 8: but I saw it. But the T shirts, it's different.
- 34:38Speaker 8: You really get the full.
- 34:39Speaker 5: From you from one of the preseason games that Pat
- 34:42Speaker 5: McAfee shared a make sure of you remember that. Yeah,
- 34:45Speaker 5: and and like you look like a different person, Like
- 34:48Speaker 5: he really doesn't like we see you all the time,
- 34:50Speaker 5: so it's like, yeah, you have to.
- 34:53Speaker 3: See the same. No, that would have been you. You
- 34:57Speaker 3: could have given him your ted, your your care dentials,
- 35:00Speaker 3: because remember when you set me straight on my dietary things.
- 35:04Speaker 3: When you're like that's not right. This is not right.
- 35:06Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 35:06Speaker 8: I had a lot of critiques of it, waging one.
- 35:09Speaker 2: I think Ted would feel like, say, if if we
- 35:11Speaker 2: get you the hair, you'll be like in your forties.
- 35:13Speaker 8: Again, listen, if you change your mind, Ted is open
- 35:18Speaker 8: like that. Ted is open to more content. He told
- 35:20Speaker 8: me that to do your job video in particular, he
- 35:23Speaker 8: was really hesitant to do that at first and didn't
- 35:26Speaker 8: want to.
- 35:26Speaker 3: And then so that's what I would say to Ted, like,
- 35:29Speaker 3: we've tried to do a lot of different things over
- 35:30Speaker 3: the years, and he individually now that may have been
- 35:34Speaker 3: due to pressure from Bill Bears.
- 35:36Speaker 8: And I think he's just the behind the scenes guy too.
- 35:38Speaker 8: Didn't want the spotlight, not want to be in the
- 35:40Speaker 8: spot But he told me that.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Can you blame him on that regime, That's what I said.
- 35:44Speaker 3: I don't know if that was from pressure from Bill
- 35:46Speaker 3: and maybe he feels a little bit more comfortable.
- 35:48Speaker 8: Well, he told me that Ultimately he's really glad he
- 35:50Speaker 8: did it because constantly, like whether he's speaking at a
- 35:54Speaker 8: class at Purdue or at another university, and then even
- 35:57Speaker 8: at that conference where he won the award, countless young
- 36:00Speaker 8: r d's and students go up to him and say,
- 36:03Speaker 8: I saw the video of the Patriots did on you
- 36:05Speaker 8: and it made me want to be a sports nutritionist.
- 36:08Speaker 8: So he said it was like a blessing that he
- 36:10Speaker 8: did decide.
- 36:11Speaker 3: To do it.
- 36:13Speaker 2: That I said, that's contents changed exactly.
- 36:16Speaker 4: It really is exactly butterfly effect mission accomplished.
- 36:20Speaker 8: That one, and that do your Job video still does
- 36:22Speaker 8: numbers like what six? How how long would you guys
- 36:25Speaker 8: do that?
- 36:27Speaker 7: It's always like the tops the top, one of the
- 36:30Speaker 7: played ones in Germany.
- 36:32Speaker 3: Yeah, we've been doing we've been doing.
- 36:36Speaker 2: This stuff good. So that's good, good stuff.
- 36:41Speaker 3: I did have the Schitz.
- 36:44Speaker 2: And I think I think, you know, I think Rabel
- 36:48Speaker 2: it's it's pretty apparent to me that he's he's very
- 36:52Speaker 2: open and eager to let these guys have their moment
- 36:56Speaker 2: in the sun.
- 36:58Speaker 8: Stuff we've been doing with equipment guys. Yeah, like that's
- 37:01Speaker 8: probably my next story. Pitch is like to talk to
- 37:04Speaker 8: Devin and because you every sailor, every TikTok sailor does
- 37:08Speaker 8: with Devin, the comments are just how do I get
- 37:11Speaker 8: this job? You know, like all those little behind the
- 37:15Speaker 8: scenes people that you don't even there's so many jobs
- 37:17Speaker 8: in sports people don't even realize, you know, beyond just
- 37:20Speaker 8: the front facing ones.
- 37:21Speaker 5: So yeah, those equipment guys, man, I mean that is
- 37:24Speaker 5: a hard job. It is like we see them on
- 37:27Speaker 5: the road and they they're at the stadium the night
- 37:30Speaker 5: before the game untill like ten to eleven o'clock. Then
- 37:33Speaker 5: they're six am the next morning to like get the
- 37:35Speaker 5: locker room ready and get everything done. Like they like
- 37:39Speaker 5: don't sleep like during the season.
- 37:40Speaker 4: And you talk about a job that where you're totally
- 37:44Speaker 4: there for someone else. Yeah, like you have to know
- 37:48Speaker 4: the needs of every player. Like this guy likes this
- 37:51Speaker 4: type of socks. This guy likes to wear, Yeah these
- 37:53Speaker 4: you know this cleve, he likes this face mask for
- 37:56Speaker 4: his helmet.
- 37:57Speaker 8: They get rookies and free agents and they already know
- 38:01Speaker 8: what helmet they wore, what the specifications of their cleats were,
- 38:05Speaker 8: like coming in. It's just ready for them, like, oh,
- 38:07Speaker 8: we talked what we got you.
- 38:09Speaker 5: This isn't like basketball or more than fifty three where
- 38:12Speaker 5: there's like fifteen guys on the team. We're talking about
- 38:15Speaker 5: them outfitting like sixty five seventy guys, you know, including
- 38:18Speaker 5: the practice squad. Like that's it's a lot of people.
- 38:21Speaker 2: It's a lot of work.
- 38:22Speaker 5: Yeah, a lot of work.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Do they do the laundry to the equipment they do?
- 38:25Speaker 2: They do, I mean that alone, not the.
- 38:28Speaker 8: Main guys, but the little their minions do. But not
- 38:31Speaker 8: to call those guys because they're great.
- 38:33Speaker 2: But yeah, yeah, I mean that that alone is a
- 38:37Speaker 2: full time job.
- 38:37Speaker 5: I know. It's crazy. Yeah, it's crazy, just like a
- 38:41Speaker 5: tide pods.
- 38:42Speaker 2: How many tide pods do they go through each year?
- 38:44Speaker 2: I'd like to know that there's a.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Lot of plastic in those tide pods. Fred, they have
- 38:47Speaker 3: the giant dispenser's attached to the machines. They're not throwing
- 38:51Speaker 3: tie pots.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Oh no, speed queens.
- 38:53Speaker 5: I was.
- 38:54Speaker 3: I was actually a clubby for the well.
- 38:56Speaker 8: I hope they have speed speed because that's not heavy
- 39:00Speaker 8: duty cleaning.
- 39:01Speaker 5: Yeah, we should find out.
- 39:03Speaker 4: Okay eight five to five past five hundred is the
- 39:06Speaker 4: hotline podcasts at patriots dot com. Is the email address
- 39:11Speaker 4: if you want to subscribe to our newsletter. Uh, it's
- 39:14Speaker 4: patriots dot com slash pu newsletter. We've got one coming
- 39:18Speaker 4: out tomorrow that you're getting ready, Alex.
- 39:21Speaker 2: So you've been busy really excited for that one, are you? Yeah?
- 39:26Speaker 3: I think my War of sounds really going to resonate
- 39:27Speaker 3: with the fans.
- 39:28Speaker 2: Okay, personal world.
- 39:32Speaker 4: Going back to yesterday's practice, Kylon Pembroke writes in Big
- 39:35Speaker 4: Story on Paul's shows yesterday and Today, is that Dobbs
- 39:39Speaker 4: had a better day than May. Really, the veteran quarterback
- 39:42Speaker 4: who has been doing this for a while is quicker
- 39:44Speaker 4: and learning a new offense. You don't say to me
- 39:46Speaker 4: this is such a non issue, shaking my head.
- 39:49Speaker 2: What do you all think? Did he in fact have
- 39:53Speaker 2: a better day?
- 39:53Speaker 3: It's a rare thing that I that I don't agree
- 39:55Speaker 3: with either side, Yeah, right, Like I don't think there's
- 39:59Speaker 3: any reason that Joshua Dobbs should be further along in
- 40:03Speaker 3: this offense than Drake May. I don't think because he's
- 40:06Speaker 3: been in the league for a few years. He hasn't
- 40:07Speaker 3: been in this offense for a few years, so I
- 40:09Speaker 3: don't I think they started at the same level. But
- 40:13Speaker 3: I also don't necessarily think. I mean, I thought Dobbs
- 40:15Speaker 3: made some good throws, standout throw, So I guess if
- 40:18Speaker 3: you technically wanted to say he looked better, I think
- 40:20Speaker 3: you could probably. It's one of those semantic things, like
- 40:23Speaker 3: you could probably say that that's true, But I think
- 40:26Speaker 3: I think the offense looks.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Sloppy right now.
- 40:29Speaker 3: I don't think it looked all that much better with
- 40:31Speaker 3: Dobbs than it did with May.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Now.
- 40:33Speaker 3: I do think there was some hesitation, and I extrapolate
- 40:37Speaker 3: that from being mental on Drake's part. I know people
- 40:41Speaker 3: don't want to hear the hitch thing and they get
- 40:43Speaker 3: tired of this. But I do think it looks like
- 40:44Speaker 3: he's thinking a lot as he's going through his stuff,
- 40:48Speaker 3: and I think Evan illustrated that at the top with
- 40:51Speaker 3: his observations about the throw is not necessarily looking like
- 40:54Speaker 3: they were on time, and with Dobbs it probably did
- 40:57Speaker 3: look a little bit better. Yeah, I just incrementally.
- 41:00Speaker 5: I think, like saying who had the better day in
- 41:02Speaker 5: May is just crazy, like based off of what And
- 41:06Speaker 5: you know, Dobbs probably had the best throw to Kyle
- 41:08Speaker 5: Williams down the sideline on the go route, But like
- 41:11Speaker 5: Kyle Williams also beat his guy and got open and
- 41:14Speaker 5: gave him a chance to make the throw. So if
- 41:16Speaker 5: Drak's that.
- 41:17Speaker 2: Catch though, yeah, it may have a chance to throw
- 41:20Speaker 2: to Williams.
- 41:21Speaker 5: A couple but he's definitely was more with Dobbs. But
- 41:25Speaker 5: like if Kyle Williams had ran that exact route in
- 41:29Speaker 5: that exact matchup and and got by the behind the
- 41:32Speaker 5: defense in the exact same way, then Drake may probably
- 41:34Speaker 5: would have put the ball on him too. Like it
- 41:36Speaker 5: was I throw an NFL quarterback as should be able
- 41:39Speaker 5: to make.
- 41:39Speaker 7: The route reminded me of the Combine when they do
- 41:41Speaker 7: that drill where they're you know, you got to stay back, yeah,
- 41:43Speaker 7: at the ball coming, and Kyle Willams just did a
- 41:45Speaker 7: great job adjusting, so he's he's around. I mean, I
- 41:47Speaker 7: just like seeing guys that that show up. It's unfortunately
- 41:50Speaker 7: like Polk was last year, where you know he's making
- 41:52Speaker 7: some catches.
- 41:53Speaker 3: Actually, I wanted to ask Evian a little bit.
- 41:55Speaker 7: I love reading other people's stuff afterwards because there's so
- 41:57Speaker 7: much going on you don't feel like you get to
- 41:59Speaker 7: see everything. But you pointed out Craig Woodson, who I
- 42:01Speaker 7: didn't really clock yesterday, and I was just I know
- 42:03Speaker 7: you had some nice things to say about him.
- 42:05Speaker 3: I'm just curious what you saw.
- 42:06Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I admit I wasn't super high on
- 42:10Speaker 5: that pick. I thought that they reached a little bit
- 42:12Speaker 5: on that pick, and it's way too early to determine
- 42:15Speaker 5: it one way or the other. But he's probably been
- 42:18Speaker 5: the rookie that has surprised me the most throughout this
- 42:21Speaker 5: whole process so far. I just I think that he's
- 42:24Speaker 5: got a really good instinctual feel for the game, especially
- 42:28Speaker 5: in zone coverage, you know, help coverage, whether he's playing
- 42:31Speaker 5: over the top or he's playing your robber, second level
- 42:34Speaker 5: coverage and zone and he's got just a good feel
- 42:37Speaker 5: for it. And I feel like that's not necessarily a
- 42:41Speaker 5: strength of Dugger or Jabriel Peppers in terms of playing
- 42:45Speaker 5: in space and playing deep in the deep part of
- 42:48Speaker 5: the field. So if he can do something like that
- 42:50Speaker 5: at an NFL level, then those guys can then go
- 42:53Speaker 5: do what they do best and they can go after
- 42:55Speaker 5: the football and be a little bit more aggressive. But
- 42:58Speaker 5: with with with Woodson yesterday, I think it was it
- 43:03Speaker 5: was Dobbs who's playing quarterback, might have been May, but
- 43:06Speaker 5: there was like a an indcut over the middle of
- 43:08Speaker 5: the field and he just was sitting right in the
- 43:11Speaker 5: passing window and it made him they had the quarterback.
- 43:14Speaker 5: I had ended up having to airmail it at the
- 43:16Speaker 5: last second because he kind of baited him and uh
- 43:18Speaker 5: then he had to airmail it and it was like,
- 43:21Speaker 5: that's a good, like, heady play for a guy that's
- 43:25Speaker 5: two weeks into this as a rookie, so not ready
- 43:27Speaker 5: to you know, put put him in the red jacket
- 43:30Speaker 5: or anything yet. But there's one of you know, I
- 43:32Speaker 5: kind of expected to be impressed by Traveon Henderson. I
- 43:34Speaker 5: kind of expected to be impressed by Kyle Williams, you know,
- 43:38Speaker 5: Will Campbell, those guys I figured would stand out at immediate,
- 43:42Speaker 5: you know, first impression. But Craig Woodson, I would say,
- 43:45Speaker 5: has been the other rookie that's that's kind of made
- 43:47Speaker 5: a little bit of an impression.
- 43:48Speaker 4: Okay, let's go to the phones. We'll go to Chris
- 43:52Speaker 4: in New Hampshire. Hey, Chris.
- 43:55Speaker 2: Great Hey, does.
- 43:56Speaker 11: Anyone know that he can hear me?
- 43:58Speaker 2: Yep?
- 44:00Speaker 11: Yeah, Did anyone know if Juwan Bentley got signed? I've
- 44:03Speaker 11: been looking at can't find.
- 44:04Speaker 5: No, he's still a free agent.
- 44:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I think injury digs. Does he see one of those.
- 44:08Speaker 11: Two people that got cut that disagreed with the other?
- 44:12Speaker 11: One is does Ron Mayo have a job?
- 44:14Speaker 3: No, No, I don't know where Gerrod Mayo.
- 44:16Speaker 11: Is, all right? And the last question is was Mayo
- 44:20Speaker 11: a Hall of Fame candidate? For the Patriots before coaching.
- 44:24Speaker 2: I don't think so, but probably the way everyone gets in.
- 44:28Speaker 2: But I don't I don't think you get a red jacket.
- 44:30Speaker 3: They'll get a red jacket. Everything not in my book, No,
- 44:34Speaker 3: he wouldn't.
- 44:34Speaker 11: Do you think his coaching disaster have a railed that path?
- 44:38Speaker 3: No? No, really, no, I don't. I mean no, he
- 44:41Speaker 3: be he'd be judged as a player, not as a coach.
- 44:43Speaker 3: Defensive rookie of the year, don't.
- 44:45Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 44:45Speaker 10: I mean he was.
- 44:47Speaker 11: I was never a big fan of him either way.
- 44:49Speaker 11: But as a player he was just kind of there. Yeah,
- 44:51Speaker 11: And as a coach he was an object disaster.
- 44:54Speaker 3: So a lot of people think that Troy Brown was
- 44:57Speaker 3: part of the problem with wide receivers. He's been a
- 44:59Speaker 3: wide receiver a coach for the last several years, and
- 45:01Speaker 3: the wide receivers didn't develop, didn't seem like they were
- 45:04Speaker 3: all in the same page, didn't seem like running the
- 45:06Speaker 3: proper routes. I don't think that's taken away from his
- 45:08Speaker 3: Hall of Fame status. You know, as a player, I
- 45:11Speaker 3: think I think you're you're judged as a player, not
- 45:14Speaker 3: as a coach.
- 45:15Speaker 5: Being a head coach ian Yeah, but Mike Rabel it
- 45:18Speaker 5: didn't work out, and we wouldn't be saying that Mike
- 45:21Speaker 5: Rabel shouldn't be in the Patriots Hall of Fame.
- 45:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it just Rabel got fired as a as a Titan.
- 45:27Speaker 5: I'm just saying, but he wasn't.
- 45:29Speaker 2: But but he was already in the Hall of Fame.
- 45:32Speaker 4: Let's just say that if he wasn't to say that
- 45:35Speaker 4: Mike Rabel was more of a disaster than Gerrod Mail.
- 45:40Speaker 4: And he wasn't in the Patriots Hall of Fame, but
- 45:42Speaker 4: he was nominated with the fans vote for.
- 45:44Speaker 5: Maybe the fans wouldn't vote maybe, Yeah, but it wouldn't
- 45:47Speaker 5: imagined that it wouldn't. It wouldn't take away from his candidates.
- 45:50Speaker 2: I couldn't imagine the fans not getting Vinetarian this time.
- 45:53Speaker 3: But I but you had Julian Edelman next time.
- 45:56Speaker 2: I know.
- 45:56Speaker 7: I'm still like I'm talking about because he was, okay,
- 45:59Speaker 7: a failed coach.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Yeah, like you're judging them on as.
- 46:02Speaker 5: I agree, But I was more thinking of it along
- 46:05Speaker 5: the lines of, like what the committee vote him as
- 46:08Speaker 5: a finalist, because what the fans vote for is what
- 46:10Speaker 5: the fans vote for, But like, would he be worthy
- 46:13Speaker 5: of being in.
- 46:14Speaker 2: That I think I think the Committee would still nominate him.
- 46:17Speaker 5: Well, I don't no doubt then I don't think that
- 46:19Speaker 5: maybe in the public court of public opinion it would
- 46:22Speaker 5: hurt his status. But I'm really more concerned about who
- 46:24Speaker 5: the committee actually nominates because I think they know a
- 46:28Speaker 5: little bit more they do, But.
- 46:29Speaker 4: The fans are the ones that get him in ultimately. Yeah,
- 46:32Speaker 4: So all right, thanks Chris, appreciate the call. I smell
- 46:37Speaker 4: my food, so I don't have COVID and I'm ready
- 46:40Speaker 4: to eat.

- 48:29Speaker 1: Hi, how are you good? Hi? Karen Mike.
- 48:37Speaker 15: A video of Stefon Diggs has gotten a lot of
- 48:40Speaker 15: traction in the last twenty four hours or so. He's
- 48:44Speaker 15: on a boat having a good time. But the question
- 48:47Speaker 15: comes in as to a certain substance that people are
- 48:51Speaker 15: guessing what is and isn't. Is this something that the
- 48:54Speaker 15: team has to look into.
- 48:56Speaker 9: Well, it's something that we're aware of, and obviously we
- 48:59Speaker 9: want to make great decisions on and off the field,
- 49:01Speaker 9: and we're hoping that with our time here on the
- 49:04Speaker 9: field today and that when we don't have a script
- 49:07Speaker 9: and we're on the call up periods, that we're making
- 49:09Speaker 9: great decisions.
- 49:10Speaker 1: And so the message will be the same.
- 49:12Speaker 9: For all our players that we're trying to make great decisions,
- 49:15Speaker 9: and any conversations that I've had with Stefan will remain
- 49:18Speaker 9: between him.
- 49:19Speaker 1: And I and the club have him since the video.
- 49:23Speaker 1: I talked to our.
- 49:23Speaker 9: Players every single day, the ones that are here and
- 49:25Speaker 9: the ones that aren't.
- 49:27Speaker 2: Are you expected in practice today, Mike?
- 49:30Speaker 1: Not if he's not here. So he's not here, you
- 49:33Speaker 1: guys will find out in a minute.
- 49:35Speaker 2: But no, again, he was here last week.
- 49:40Speaker 3: Video.
- 49:41Speaker 9: Everything that we're going to do, Karen is we're going
- 49:43Speaker 9: to coach the guys that show up at eight and
- 49:44Speaker 9: the ones that say, hey, I got a situation will.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Be at eight oh five. We'll coach those as well.
- 49:49Speaker 9: Uh, this is a voluntary part of our off season program.
- 49:52Speaker 9: And uh, every player that's not here, which there aren't many,
- 49:56Speaker 9: have been in communication with me and their position coaches.
- 50:00Speaker 15: I was just going to ask, based on what you've
- 50:01Speaker 15: seen from the times he's been around, how would you
- 50:05Speaker 15: say he's progressing.
- 50:08Speaker 1: Again?
- 50:08Speaker 9: The timelines and the prognosis and and everything at Again,
- 50:12Speaker 9: we're working hard to get him back and to be
- 50:15Speaker 9: ready to go. But you know when when uh, when
- 50:19Speaker 9: he's when he's here, we'll coach him and we'll have
- 50:21Speaker 9: everything ready to go.
- 50:22Speaker 1: Updates on.
- 50:25Speaker 4: Uh.
- 50:26Speaker 9: No, just that he continues to to like our players
- 50:29Speaker 9: work hard to get.
- 50:29Speaker 1: Back and uh excited to have him back again.
- 50:32Speaker 9: The communication that that I see every day with him
- 50:35Speaker 9: and the players.
- 50:37Speaker 1: In their meetings and in the Zoom meeting, and.
- 50:40Speaker 9: I know that he's excited and hopefully we'll get him
- 50:44Speaker 9: back here sooner rather than later.
- 50:46Speaker 6: Last time we were out here for practice, Drake had
- 50:49Speaker 6: a few interceptions.
- 50:51Speaker 1: Do you care how do you view moments like that?
- 50:54Speaker 4: Well?
- 50:54Speaker 1: I care? I think that.
- 50:59Speaker 9: I care about it, every player's performance, and that we
- 51:01Speaker 9: continue to improve and that there has been great improvement.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Over you know, the day.
- 51:06Speaker 9: Everybody's going to have a bad day, and there's a
- 51:08Speaker 9: lot of reasons that, you know, go into it.
- 51:11Speaker 1: We're not going to analyze every single practice.
- 51:13Speaker 9: And and have explanations for for things that came up.
- 51:19Speaker 9: But the command, the operation, all those things have continued
- 51:24Speaker 9: to improve. And in sound who asked me, but you
- 51:29Speaker 9: know what I thought would be a successful day?
- 51:31Speaker 1: And then sure enough I told you those things weren't
- 51:34Speaker 1: going to happen.
- 51:34Speaker 9: So hopefully the operation, the communication today, the execution has
- 51:41Speaker 9: got to be better. We only have so many of
- 51:43Speaker 9: these opportunities, and uh, and I'm hopeful that in front.
- 51:48Speaker 1: Of us the crowd of media, that we have a
- 51:50Speaker 1: better day.
- 51:51Speaker 7: Do you feel like the defense, it's fair to say
- 51:53Speaker 7: at this point, is further along in their install and
- 51:57Speaker 7: process in the offense.
- 51:58Speaker 8: And if so is how big is the gap?
- 52:00Speaker 9: Then well, I don't think that they're further along. I
- 52:02Speaker 9: think that it's probably I have not This is hard.
- 52:07Speaker 9: This is a hard time in the spring to when
- 52:09Speaker 9: every pass play is you know, third and ten. I mean,
- 52:13Speaker 9: it's just their their pass rushing and their pressure and
- 52:15Speaker 9: they're blitzing, which is great. They we have to be
- 52:17Speaker 9: able to block and see everything. But it is a
- 52:21Speaker 9: passing camp and it didn't take the Kean and k
- 52:24Speaker 9: C and Christian and Milt and Harold long to figure
- 52:29Speaker 9: that out.
- 52:29Speaker 1: So it's it's kind of is what it is, which
- 52:31Speaker 1: is good. And then again they know how to practice.
- 52:34Speaker 1: We have to be able to.
- 52:35Speaker 9: Speed and pass rush and then stay away from the quarterback,
- 52:38Speaker 9: get out of the way, stay off the ground, all
- 52:40Speaker 9: those things that they've been able to do over the
- 52:42Speaker 9: course of you know, the first four OTAs.
- 52:45Speaker 5: However, Laundring was we talked about it last week.
- 52:47Speaker 3: He was absent and then we saw a photo post
- 52:50Speaker 3: by the team that he was back at practice.
- 52:51Speaker 1: Just what was it like to get.
- 52:52Speaker 5: Him back in the mix of things.
- 52:54Speaker 1: Well, it's great to have everybody here.
- 52:56Speaker 9: I want to support him through this process the best
- 52:59Speaker 9: that we can, and that's probably a little bit more difficult.
- 53:03Speaker 9: He doesn't know us as well, and so his communication
- 53:08Speaker 9: I appreciate it, and you know, but it's great to
- 53:10Speaker 9: have him back and then we'll kind of work them
- 53:11Speaker 9: along make sure that he's ready to get out there.
- 53:14Speaker 9: So I don't know how much you'll see him in
- 53:17Speaker 9: some of the live team action. I don't think that's
- 53:19Speaker 9: fair to him to just throw him back out there.
- 53:21Speaker 9: But there's certainly a return to play, like a lot
- 53:24Speaker 9: of players will have throughout the course of the year.
- 53:27Speaker 3: You have receiver, a lot of new faces on the
- 53:29Speaker 3: team this year, players coaches?
- 53:31Speaker 9: How much of a focus this spring is team building
- 53:33Speaker 9: and just getting guys to learn each other because there are.
- 53:36Speaker 2: So many new basins.
- 53:38Speaker 1: I think that's important.
- 53:39Speaker 9: I think the execution is also important, the ability to
- 53:42Speaker 9: work with another player out on the field, a guy
- 53:45Speaker 9: next to you. Linemen are going to move around, have
- 53:48Speaker 9: to pop in a different position, Quarterbacks are going to
- 53:50Speaker 9: have to throw to different players. But I certainly think
- 53:53Speaker 9: that part of this process of playing this game is
- 53:56Speaker 9: about building relationships and connections with players and coach is alike.
- 54:01Speaker 2: Will you have a.
- 54:02Speaker 1: Leading voice in Drake's development this year?
- 54:04Speaker 15: Something that.
- 54:06Speaker 9: I would have, I hope a voice in every player's
- 54:09Speaker 9: development on our football team.
- 54:11Speaker 1: Is it generally like what would it be like? You
- 54:13Speaker 1: would it be Josh? Do you guys have sort of
- 54:16Speaker 1: one voice that's going to take the leader or is
- 54:17Speaker 1: it going to be.
- 54:18Speaker 9: More collaborative, I think, but I have something to say
- 54:21Speaker 9: to Drake, I'll say it. And I think when Josh
- 54:23Speaker 9: wants to put plays in that can help him or
- 54:26Speaker 9: explain what the read is. It's going to be things
- 54:29Speaker 9: that I'm not going to be as knowledgeable at when
- 54:31Speaker 9: it relates to quarterbacks. But I think that there will
- 54:34Speaker 9: be some other things that I can help them. And
- 54:36Speaker 9: you know, we don't have it scripted out. That's kind
- 54:39Speaker 9: of our job is to kind of figure out what
- 54:41Speaker 9: to say and when you say it, Like, we have a.
- 54:43Speaker 4: Lot of numbers in the wide receiver room over the
- 54:45Speaker 4: course of time, Hot, how.
- 54:46Speaker 9: Do you have the same number of everybody else in
- 54:48Speaker 9: the National Football League?
- 54:50Speaker 16: Right?
- 54:50Speaker 1: But how you addressed that last week?
- 54:51Speaker 6: When you watch these guys, what are you looking for
- 54:54Speaker 6: that separates them?
- 54:57Speaker 1: Do they know what to do? Can they line up?
- 54:59Speaker 1: Can they catch balk and they help the quarterback.
- 55:03Speaker 9: That they play and they finish and they transition when
- 55:06Speaker 9: they don't how fast they play when they don't have
- 55:07Speaker 9: the football in their hands. So some of that stuff
- 55:10Speaker 9: we can see in the spring, and a lot of
- 55:12Speaker 9: that stuff will will materialize once we get to training camp.
- 55:17Speaker 2: Last year, who wanted to last year.
- 55:18Speaker 7: To grill Pepper's pilege that we generally recognize two of
- 55:20Speaker 7: the better safety canons in the league.
- 55:23Speaker 2: My PE's back there, you at it. We're going to
- 55:26Speaker 2: talk to Peppers.
- 55:27Speaker 3: Later on today.
- 55:28Speaker 17: Do you feel good about that safety rotation that he's
- 55:30Speaker 17: sorting out, how they're gonna be, what they're gonna do.
- 55:33Speaker 9: I don't think anybody's really sorted out anything as far
- 55:36Speaker 9: as roles on this football team yet.
- 55:38Speaker 1: I like the people, I like the players.
- 55:40Speaker 9: Haven't seen dugger on the field just because he's working
- 55:44Speaker 9: through something which you know is not uncommon in the spring.
- 55:49Speaker 9: Loved Jabriel's energy. I liked his his passion for the game.
- 55:52Speaker 9: I like his energy when he comes into building. Those
- 55:55Speaker 9: things are all very positive. And then the new players
- 55:57Speaker 9: and the new additions are are trying to carve out
- 56:01Speaker 9: a role as well.
- 56:03Speaker 2: Could streams so far.
- 56:04Speaker 7: So last week sort of rotating at both guard spots
- 56:07Speaker 7: as opposed to center.
- 56:08Speaker 3: Just you know, how has he done this early?
- 56:11Speaker 9: It's hard to really identify alignment. It's a lot of
- 56:13Speaker 9: pass protection and it's a you know, quick whistle and
- 56:18Speaker 9: there's no pads on. So again, Cole's working extremely hard
- 56:21Speaker 9: the versatility that he'll he'll be able to display is
- 56:24Speaker 9: something that will be critical.
- 56:26Speaker 3: You mentioned some of the things you want to see
- 56:27Speaker 3: out of Wie receiver as the dan.
- 56:29Speaker 2: What have you seen from keisham Brudi so far in
- 56:31Speaker 2: that regard?
- 56:32Speaker 9: The same as everybody else, working hard, I think that
- 56:35Speaker 9: he's gotten in better shape as we started to go
- 56:38Speaker 9: on to the OTAs, and I think that's really started
- 56:41Speaker 9: to help him as we stack plays together and we're
- 56:44Speaker 9: trying to string it. You know, in the game, you
- 56:46Speaker 9: don't just take a play on and just come off
- 56:48Speaker 9: and then go back and hopefully you can string together,
- 56:51Speaker 9: you know, four or five plays as we work down
- 56:53Speaker 9: the football field. So I think that he's working to
- 56:55Speaker 9: do that. And uh, you know, I like like his attitude.
- 56:58Speaker 9: I enjoy, you know, his willingness to to continue to
- 57:01Speaker 9: improve and maybe do some things a little differently.
- 57:04Speaker 11: How have you liked to be at.
- 57:06Speaker 3: The pace of practice.
- 57:07Speaker 6: We've only been out here for one of them, but
- 57:08Speaker 6: it looked like it was relatively intense or a couple
- 57:12Speaker 6: you know, guys on the field.
- 57:13Speaker 1: That means a lot coming from you, Phil, thank you.
- 57:15Speaker 6: You know, pretty good gauge and that pretty intense guy myself.
- 57:19Speaker 6: But how do you strike the balance between like you
- 57:21Speaker 6: don't want guys to be competitive, but you also don't
- 57:23Speaker 6: want guys.
- 57:24Speaker 9: Yeah, I think that's the biggest coach speak in the spring,
- 57:26Speaker 9: as you're talking out of both sides of your mouth.
- 57:28Speaker 9: It's like, compete, but stay up the compete, But the
- 57:32Speaker 9: receiver has the right to the football. You know, we
- 57:34Speaker 9: can't go through the through the back of them. I
- 57:37Speaker 9: think that the energy is there. I think the urgency
- 57:39Speaker 9: is there. I'd like to see guys running off the field,
- 57:43Speaker 9: coming out on the field to take the field, to
- 57:45Speaker 9: be ready to go, breaking the huddle, lining up, having
- 57:49Speaker 9: an urgency to which we practice and I think all
- 57:51Speaker 9: those things hopefully will lead to better execution of questions.
- 57:56Speaker 17: Observation for your involvement in practice. Watching the other day
- 57:59Speaker 17: was interesting to see you're coaching one on one with
- 58:03Speaker 17: players from different backgrounds, different paths here, different position. How
- 58:08Speaker 17: important is it for you?
- 58:09Speaker 1: And that's face it's.
- 58:10Speaker 17: Not obvious to coach all ninety guys on your roster
- 58:14Speaker 17: here and then into the summer.
- 58:15Speaker 9: Well, I think it's important. I think I one, I
- 58:18Speaker 9: enjoy it, I like it, I love it. I try
- 58:21Speaker 9: to be as knowledgeable at every position as I possibly can,
- 58:25Speaker 9: some more than others. We reference the quarterback, but having
- 58:30Speaker 9: something at each position group that can maybe translate from my.
- 58:34Speaker 1: Perspective to help the player.
- 58:36Speaker 9: But then I also think that you know where the
- 58:39Speaker 9: head coach is is probably what the players think are important.
- 58:42Speaker 1: So I try to be a little bit everywhere. Coaches.
- 58:45Speaker 2: You have end new defensive scheme, it's still with a
- 58:47Speaker 2: lot of veterans.
- 58:47Speaker 9: How do you feel the communication has been with these
- 58:49Speaker 9: units early on?
- 58:50Speaker 1: Again? Good? Good? I think that when you get to
- 58:52Speaker 1: when we split the squad.
- 58:54Speaker 3: And now great moments in.
- 58:58Speaker 2: History. You know used to fish. My grandfather Yeah, oh really, wow?
- 59:04Speaker 3: Please tell I know that he had a twenty eight
- 59:06Speaker 3: to three shirt sold I don't know that his grandfather
- 59:09Speaker 3: used to fish.
- 59:10Speaker 2: They all used Shakespeare, rods Y Ted Williams.
- 59:13Speaker 16: So my grandfather was longtime track coach at Tufts from
- 59:18Speaker 16: the early thirties all the way until he died in
- 59:20Speaker 16: the early seventies, and he developed a friendship with Ted Williams.
- 59:23Speaker 3: There's there's some interesting newspaper articles that I've dug up
- 59:27Speaker 3: that it's my grandfather. I never met him.
- 59:29Speaker 16: He died before I was born Clarence ding Duso. The
- 59:31Speaker 16: track of Tous is named after him. But they used
- 59:33Speaker 16: to go him and Ted would go up to up
- 59:35Speaker 16: to New Brunswick where my grandfather did all the summers,
- 59:38Speaker 16: and they would fish together, fly fishing. And this is
- 59:41Speaker 16: the crazy story. John Henry Duso Williams. They named his
- 59:47Speaker 16: middle name is Dusau after my grandfather.
- 59:50Speaker 3: You go to newspapers dot com.
- 59:51Speaker 16: You can do a lot of searching.
- 59:52Speaker 3: I found one that's, like, you know, du So teaches
- 59:55Speaker 3: the Red Sox how to run.
- 59:56Speaker 16: So my grandfather went down to Florida and was talking
- 59:58Speaker 16: to them about like speed and stuff.
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: So yeah, so it's he's he's got a he's got

- 1:01:05Speaker 3: I do I have to miss I have to miss
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: a game, Freddie. You have to know how rare it
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: is for me to miss a game.
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: No, but yeah, go ahead.
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: When was the last time I missed a game?
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: You never? You missed the whole Super Bowl, missed the
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: ASH Championship game, and and but I got it through
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: that game. And it was also COVID, so we couldn't
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: couldn't be you know in the stadium you ha COVID
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: or that No, I didn't have COVID during just the
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: Monday night game during the COVID season. I think that's
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: what I believe. For AFC Championship game in the Super Bowl.
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: I think it was the only two games that I
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: ever missed. And I have to miss the Minnesota preseason game.
- 1:01:44Speaker 7: Wow, okay, Saturday without you Saturday. How much there ought
- 1:01:50Speaker 7: to get me. I get it like a day game,
- 1:01:52Speaker 7: which is perfect. I have to miss it.
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: Unbelievably good.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: Moving TJ into into school.
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: I'm telling you the the runout song topic, people are
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: still emailing.
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: I'm like, now, just want to see the newsletter tomorrow
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: to see deuces. Well, these were personal, but everybody knows
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: what like Mayaan would be. Like there's only four or
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: five options. You can kind of figure out what Miyae
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: would be.
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: Very very man.
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: Songs with Barry Man alone, I mean they have great ballads,
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: but they're great now you go Earthwork and fire Darna Summer.
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: I mean, you know the common It's not that many options, no,
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: But deuce Deuce is a mystery. I have no idea
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: what this. I'm intrigued. I think I mentioned it on
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: the shows. I don't want to build.
- 1:02:37Speaker 4: It up too much, but too bad Moss isn't still
- 1:02:40Speaker 4: on the team because we could have.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: Oh, Randy, you came and you game.
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: That was unbelievable last night, by the way, and brought
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: the house.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: You crying.
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: It was like crying.
- 1:02:53Speaker 7: I mean, I enjoyed the Barry man Al concert. No,
- 1:02:56Speaker 7: it was not crying.
- 1:02:57Speaker 5: His only thing going on.
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: You couldn't drag me to that.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: I'm telling you. I'm telling you. It was a lot
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: of funny and Matt and I went with no socks
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: and Mike Reese and my wife.
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: Mike's where It's royalty? Really?
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: You recognized Mike's of course we did. What are you
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: kidd name? Didn't I say? I was Mike with Mike?
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: Where was the garden?
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: The garden is just an actual garden.
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: Now I'm showing my show from Barry Mandel.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: That's it's it's one and the same. It's man, It's man.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: Do you know you rated?
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a good one. I don't talk, but anyway,
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: it was. It was a great time. And I'll tell
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: you he's like eighty one years old.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: Yeah, rocks.
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: He was out there for almost two hours just playing
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: all the hits, Freddy off Mandy even now I know
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: into him when he was after.
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: He's a Vegas rank guy.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: I know I write the song, you know, I know
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: write the songs. I like the copa Cabana.
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: You got three that's a banger.
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: Yeah, oh, I know all the songs.
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: At least she at least she being honest with yourself.
- 1:04:11Speaker 7: I pretending it was even crazy. Paul didn't even drink
- 1:04:14Speaker 7: at it. I didn't imagine berry Man was so bad.
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: Even I had a couple of dire cokes. So this
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: is the thing that really stood out to no socks
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: and right over I heard you. This is the thing
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: that really I was fully anticipating. Being among the youngest
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: people in this crowd. I figured there's gonna be a
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: lot of like seventy five and up. Yeah, there were
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: a lot of young people.
- 1:04:35Speaker 8: There were they with their parents probably.
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: In some cases. Yeah, like Mike Reese took his dad.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: Roy Reese was there. Was great to see Roy.
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: I was a huge fan of all of our patriots.
- 1:04:46Speaker 4: Content by I'm sure, but like I think the lawyer,
- 1:04:51Speaker 4: I was stunned. Like when Tony Bennett was doing his duet,
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: like all the young people were like all of a sudden,
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: Tony Bennett was like, lady.
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: Yeah, just because yeah, and I had to.
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: So now now you're like, you're disparaging Tony overrated? What
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: is wrong with you?
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: Overrated?
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: Who's rated?
- 1:05:10Speaker 15: Who?
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: Guy is phenomenal? Like Tony Benning is overrated.
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: But all of a sudden, he you know, he had
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: this resurgence because he was doing duets with younger lady, what's.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: Wrong with that?
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: I just I wasn't into gaming the system. It wasn't
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: into it.
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: Yeah, Barry Maniload didn't gain the system.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: He didn't have to. He's got that. He's got killing it.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: He's got his own hits.
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: You know, I just laughing. Polic We thought would be
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: the oldest people there. There are plenty of people there
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: in their fifties.
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: I didn't say fifties.
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: There were younger people and I.
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: Was there, huh, there.
- 1:05:51Speaker 8: Are a lot of people my age there a lot.
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: I saw that there were.
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: I was stunned, Like, you don't know, Barry Manilo like maybe.
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: The song you know it it was a They're like,
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: they're like Mike, and they pretend they don't know because
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: it's not but they know what.
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: Were people singing along?
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: I was singing? Yeah, there was only like two songs
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: I didn't know.
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: I get this picture of Ball singing, what were you wearing?
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: Sequence? Sure co incidentally.
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: You know, which.
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: Come as a big surprise. But I was thing that
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: I were watching the o t a practice to part
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: jeans and a porters. It wasnt was it was wonderful.
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: Jar.
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: You're just like babbling words now. It don't make anything.
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: Thinking of like old sceptual.
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: Female, you know, grabbing Carol Canning Caro, who was the
- 1:06:50Speaker 4: one that was like she was Latin and.
- 1:07:02Speaker 5: She was not succeed you played for the Barns.
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I would not go to that. It just would
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: Neil Diamond.
- 1:07:09Speaker 7: No, No, Neil Diamond too. We could talk, Oh do
- 1:07:14Speaker 7: you know those songs? But those ones that you're.
- 1:07:16Speaker 5: Preford America, I don't really know.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: Though.
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: I'm not being facetious about my lack of knowledge of Barry.
- 1:07:22Speaker 7: I think I write I know everyone like five, just
- 1:07:27Speaker 7: like I know that one.
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: I know that one.
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: I didn't know that one. You know more than you think,
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: like springtime in New England, if you heard it, you
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: definitely know it. Probably.
- 1:07:34Speaker 5: But I think Neil Diamond, I've seen Neil Diamond a
- 1:07:36Speaker 5: couple of times.
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: Who would you rather go to Neil Diamond or James Taylor.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: Neil Diamonil Diamond.
- 1:07:41Speaker 8: I love James Taylor from I.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: Would say, without knowing, I would guess that Neil Diamond
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: would put on a good show too. But Maneli put
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: on a really good show. It was like kind of
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: Vegas Broadway ish. My guess is Neil Diamond would do
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: that too. Yeah, and I would put James Taylor third.
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: You know, I like Kail would be a snooze.
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: Snooze, but I don't think it would be yeah, that entertaining.
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: But I do like a lot of his songs.
- 1:08:06Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, Diamond wasn't very not know.
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: Any of those.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: I love.
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: About James Taylor. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, sweet baby.
- 1:08:13Speaker 8: James Caroline in my mind.
- 1:08:16Speaker 7: Yeah, I dated a girl from Western mass And so again,
- 1:08:19Speaker 7: if you grow up, Taylor, I dated a woman once
- 1:08:25Speaker 7: before I got married.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:08:29Speaker 7: Felder would say, there's your man a little minute.
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: You can move on, all right, eight five five eight
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: five five Pats five hundred is the hot line. Let's
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: go to the hot line. Vinnie's in Vegas. What's up, Vinnie?
- 1:08:42Speaker 10: Hey, guys, how's going good?
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: They?
- 1:08:46Speaker 10: You know, I love the show I've listened for a
- 1:08:48Speaker 10: long time, but you know, it's always about this small
- 1:08:50Speaker 10: moment when when dudes was talking about the villain in
- 1:08:55Speaker 10: Cobra yesterday and he was talking about how the guy scary, right,
- 1:09:00Speaker 10: a guy who scared him, he says, you know, just
- 1:09:02Speaker 10: quietly says, not as much as you scare me, right,
- 1:09:06Speaker 10: you just I was just cracking up. I do have
- 1:09:09Speaker 10: a question for you guys. Is the linebacker a sneaky
- 1:09:16Speaker 10: concern when it comes to death? And uh, I don't
- 1:09:21Speaker 10: know have enough bodies or you know, enough good guys there.
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: This is a great question, Finny, because it really dovetails
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: nicely into Mike dous during the break.
- 1:09:32Speaker 5: Half Big take half, Big take half.
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: It's a good one. I like that a theme for that.
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: So what do you think, Mike?
- 1:09:39Speaker 7: I I mean, I'm not overly concerned at the moment
- 1:09:41Speaker 7: because I think they're gonna play less linebackers and it's
- 1:09:44Speaker 7: not the big.
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: Less linebackers than two. Well yeah, well that's what I mean.
- 1:09:48Speaker 7: But like Bill's defense, he felt like you needed six
- 1:09:51Speaker 7: or five, like stand up outside needed.
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: No, no, no, But they only played two, Like in
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: the last five years, they only played like.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: Two guys at the time.
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: I think back in like the early part of the
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: dynasty they have.
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: It's become a diminished position.
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: I do worry four on the roster from a depth stamp.
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: I do worry about the right now.
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: You got to buy Ellis Splaine, Jack Gibbons, and Jack Gibs.
- 1:10:14Speaker 7: Jack Gibbs, that's kind of the four inside. I mean,
- 1:10:17Speaker 7: I just I mean piggyback Anthony. Jenny's kind of seems
- 1:10:20Speaker 7: like a man without a country right now, a little
- 1:10:22Speaker 7: bit like I'm not sure exactly how he fits and.
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: Can him an outside linebacker?
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, and that's you know, but that's not
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: really what they're going to play.
- 1:10:29Speaker 7: But you know, uh, I don't know if you want
- 1:10:31Speaker 7: to get into the whole thing of like tackling machines
- 1:10:33Speaker 7: and all that that we were getting into.
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: I would say that my concern would be if something
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: were to happen in Splain. You're talking about depth.
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: So if you're.
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: Depth by definition is what happens when the starter is out,
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: do you have enough behind him?
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: Well, listen, last year, I know there were a lot
- 1:10:50Speaker 4: of problems, but when heard, yeah, it.
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: Hurts, and you'd have a similar problem as Splaine went.
- 1:10:56Speaker 5: Down, Yeah, they're there. Linebacker played last year, especially against
- 1:10:59Speaker 5: the was was rough at times, like.
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: The fits all like teach take in the wrong direction.
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: Yeah, like they were just getting eclipse left and right eclipse.
- 1:11:10Speaker 18: That would But I think clips's that's apt and two
- 1:11:15Speaker 18: Like one, I think the position as a whole has
- 1:11:18Speaker 18: been devalued across the league.
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: And like so I don't think that you necessarily need
- 1:11:22Speaker 5: the days of like, oh we have ray Lewis and
- 1:11:25Speaker 5: Brian er Lacker and like these great, you know, Hall
- 1:11:27Speaker 5: of Fame caliber linebackers. Like I don't know if you
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: necessarily need that anymore. So I'm not worried about it
- 1:11:34Speaker 5: from that standpoint. But to Paul's point, like if if
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: Bobby Spallane goes down, I mean, what are you Helpy
- 1:11:41Speaker 5: happy with Christianellis kind of being your starting MIC or.
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: That's exactly that I mean.
- 1:11:45Speaker 7: And I think christianellisill looks like he's gonna he's gonna
- 1:11:47Speaker 7: have a role on defense this year, like going in
- 1:11:49Speaker 7: it isn't going to be part of the you know,
- 1:11:51Speaker 7: insert him into the mix because people got injured.
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: In that respect, I think he needs to show some
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: real strides this year.
- 1:11:57Speaker 7: I would put it down as a long term need
- 1:11:59Speaker 7: for sure, like I would say draft next year, you're
- 1:12:01Speaker 7: looking to try to reinforce that position, but it all
- 1:12:05Speaker 7: goes through Splaine and that I think you're totally right.
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: And if he's good, I think they'll be okay. And
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: this started because Mike was We were coming off of
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: like the caller who asked about Mayo and what, you know,
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: what he was like as a player. You know, is
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: Splaine a guy who compiles a lot of tackles or
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: is he a guy who makes a lot of plays?
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: And we'll find out because we're not we're not as
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: familiar with his game, you know. We we obviously knew
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: of him with the Raiders, but is he more of
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: Bentley Mayo kind of you know, heady, well schooled inside
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: linebacker who's going to make a lot of tackles or
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: is it Rokwan Smith, you know, like these athletic guys
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: that are sidelined to sideline making plays. Evan talked about
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: his instincts yesterday that showed up on the Ota practice field,
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: which I totally agree with Evan about. He was with
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: Traveon Henderson as he was catching balls like three different times,
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: so almost to the point where you're wondering if.
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: You know what the plays are here? He's getting annoying.
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's a good question. That might I mean,
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: and it goes back to Mayo.
- 1:13:11Speaker 7: I mean, I think it was around Mayo where I
- 1:13:13Speaker 7: started the question, like is being a tackling machine necessarily
- 1:13:16Speaker 7: like a great thing? I think you put it perfectly
- 1:13:18Speaker 7: Paul with do you want a guy who makes a lot.
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: Of tackle or a guy who makes plays?
- 1:13:21Speaker 7: And I do think in Splain's the past couple of
- 1:13:25Speaker 7: years and the Raiders, you saw turnovers, you saw tackles
- 1:13:28Speaker 7: for loss plays behind the line of scrimmage, which is
- 1:13:30Speaker 7: really positive, but it's just a hard place to be
- 1:13:33Speaker 7: where the way I kind of put it, and I
- 1:13:34Speaker 7: don't know if this makes sense, is like, is he
- 1:13:36Speaker 7: a guy who's going to just make sure that everything's
- 1:13:40Speaker 7: right and doesn't you know, you don't get gas for
- 1:13:42Speaker 7: a huge play he's going to make the tackle six
- 1:13:45Speaker 7: yards down the field. Or is he the kind of
- 1:13:47Speaker 7: guy that's going to get into the backfield and make
- 1:13:49Speaker 7: some of the plays Like it looks like he's capable
- 1:13:51Speaker 7: of making with his recognition and.
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: Speed, and I think that that's more what he is.
- 1:13:55Speaker 7: Yeah, and that's what I was lacking with Evan's point
- 1:13:57Speaker 7: about guys getting eclipse, where that you know, you either
- 1:14:00Speaker 7: have to know what's going to happen and get there first,
- 1:14:02Speaker 7: or you just have to be so athletic that you,
- 1:14:04Speaker 7: i mean, beat everybody there physically first.
- 1:14:06Speaker 4: What will his role be and will that be dependent
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: on what style of defensive line they want. If they
- 1:14:11Speaker 4: want a defensive line that gets up at it, that's
- 1:14:13Speaker 4: what it's. They need him to be that kind of
- 1:14:16Speaker 4: gatekeeper behind them.
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: Right, that's my that's it.
- 1:14:19Speaker 5: That's what I envision it's going to be. It's gonna
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: be Kean White, Christian Barmore, Milton Williams go get you guys,
- 1:14:26Speaker 5: go hunting, and Robert Spoayne is there to clean up
- 1:14:29Speaker 5: the track. And when guys squeak out or they you know,
- 1:14:32Speaker 5: it's gonna be a little boom or bust. You know,
- 1:14:34Speaker 5: ke On White's gonna fly into the backfield and sometimes
- 1:14:36Speaker 5: he's gonna miss a shot, and then Robert Splayne is
- 1:14:39Speaker 5: there to so it's a five yard game instead of
- 1:14:42Speaker 5: a twenty five yard game. You know that sort of thing.
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: He made a lot of plays again with the Raiders,
- 1:14:46Speaker 5: and I think the number one thing that stood out
- 1:14:49Speaker 5: to me when I watched him when they sign him
- 1:14:50Speaker 5: in free agency is just he plays with his hair
- 1:14:53Speaker 5: on fire, like this is a guy that has a
- 1:14:55Speaker 5: red hot motor.
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: He lives his life that way.
- 1:14:57Speaker 5: Yeah, he is. You are never going to question an
- 1:15:00Speaker 5: effort with him on a football field. So those types
- 1:15:04Speaker 5: of plays it might look. It might not be backfield
- 1:15:06Speaker 5: plays right like, it might be tackles for loss, but
- 1:15:09Speaker 5: there might be times where he chases down a running
- 1:15:12Speaker 5: back you know that's trying to turn the corner, and
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: you see Bobby splaying just streaking across the field and
- 1:15:16Speaker 5: making the play where you say, wow, there he is,
- 1:15:18Speaker 5: you know that sort of thing. I don't know if
- 1:15:20Speaker 5: he's like a navigate the trash inside the trenches, like
- 1:15:24Speaker 5: I'm gonna maneuver around blocks, I'm gonna, you know, find
- 1:15:28Speaker 5: the football. I don't know if that's necessarily his game.
- 1:15:30Speaker 5: He's a you know, seaball, get ball, keep him clean
- 1:15:33Speaker 5: kind of player, such.
- 1:15:34Speaker 7: A verbel kind of guy. And I've just been reinforced.
- 1:15:37Speaker 7: I think at some point I think might have been
- 1:15:39Speaker 7: the final mock draft they did where I took Will Campbell,
- 1:15:41Speaker 7: which is this is a verbel kind of guy. And
- 1:15:43Speaker 7: I think those those things that bore out to me,
- 1:15:45Speaker 7: like guys like Spline, guys like Will Campbell, you can
- 1:15:49Speaker 7: tell what kind of guys Mike Rabel wants on this team.
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: And that's why, even hearing from Pepper's yesterday.
- 1:15:56Speaker 7: Throughout last year, for him, I think he's kind of
- 1:15:58Speaker 7: the kind of guy that likes Rabel talked about him
- 1:16:00Speaker 7: a little bit, the energy, you know, so that I
- 1:16:03Speaker 7: think gives him a chance to stick.
- 1:16:05Speaker 5: I think it's an interesting though. You said linebacker, like
- 1:16:07Speaker 5: twenty twenty six need potentially in the off season, and
- 1:16:11Speaker 5: they needed players at premium positions so badly, you know, quarterback,
- 1:16:16Speaker 5: left tackle, wide receiver, like those are premium positions where
- 1:16:21Speaker 5: if you hit on all those guys, if Will Campbell's
- 1:16:23Speaker 5: a hit and Drake's a hit, then hopefully next offseason
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: you can go draft a middle linebacker high. You can
- 1:16:29Speaker 5: draft a tight end high. You can't draft an EDG
- 1:16:32Speaker 5: rusher or like a nickel corner or like these positions
- 1:16:36Speaker 5: that aren't as valuable. And that's that's exactly what ended
- 1:16:38Speaker 5: up happening for the Lions. Like the Lions just they
- 1:16:41Speaker 5: got Aiden Hutchinson, they got Jared Goff, they got Penny Sewell,
- 1:16:45Speaker 5: and then the next draft it was Gibbs, it was
- 1:16:47Speaker 5: Jack Campbell, it was Sam Laporta, it was Brian Branch
- 1:16:51Speaker 5: And that's how you kind of build out the roster.
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: Just to joke, to take that to I thought, you
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: know what you.
- 1:16:56Speaker 7: Wrote about the guys up front, it's kind of the
- 1:16:58Speaker 7: veterans up front. Just interesting to me watching Elijah Ponder
- 1:17:02Speaker 7: and Braden Swinson, who are more in the opportunity level
- 1:17:05Speaker 7: of guys right now. So can one of those guys
- 1:17:07Speaker 7: emerge and crack their way into the rotation as a
- 1:17:10Speaker 7: pass rusher. That's something that's kind of ping my rat
- 1:17:13Speaker 7: or over these first couple practices.
- 1:17:15Speaker 4: Travis in West Virginia wants to know if we'd ever
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: be willing to publish data after each show on the
- 1:17:21Speaker 4: total number of emails we receive and.
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: How many were read and how many were ignored.
- 1:17:25Speaker 4: For example, today we received eighteen emails read, three ignored
- 1:17:29Speaker 4: the other fifteen.
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: I mean the cameras would be much higher than that.
- 1:17:33Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, we get we get a ton of emails,
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: and yeah, I get to a fraction of them. I
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: was thinking that one point of putting all the emails
- 1:17:42Speaker 4: we didn't read in a place where other people you
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: could just read them. But like, if you what's what's
- 1:17:47Speaker 4: the point there just reading emails without answers?
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: Yeah? How many gems do you really miss? Yeah?
- 1:17:52Speaker 8: Wow, Well, dude, looks like you would be like Reddit.
- 1:17:55Speaker 8: Just post your email and like Reddit. There's a pu subreddit, but.
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: There is the uh Nate North Northeast Pennsylvania writes sad
- 1:18:05Speaker 4: off season topics only for me? Sorry, Evan one. Why
- 1:18:09Speaker 4: are Fred and Paul wearing the same shirt? It's they're
- 1:18:11Speaker 4: similar shirts, very similar. We did not call last night
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: to see what each we're wearing. Mine fits though, wow
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: wows pants also doesn't have anything.
- 1:18:27Speaker 8: He looks like, yeah, friend, got a lunch stain.
- 1:18:30Speaker 4: He looks like the lead singer of Talking Heads, and
- 1:18:32Speaker 4: he's talking to me like it doesn't it.
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: Not today's style.
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: I'm not young enough to wear today's style.
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: Why not?
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: Because that's for the young.
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: Kids starting to look younger.
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: I'm telling you, you go to the stop one of
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: those guys doctor de Filici and get your hair in
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: and whatever they call him.
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: Robert Leonard, Robert Leonard. Yeah, that is one.
- 1:18:57Speaker 5: Yeah, see the Hair Doctor.
- 1:18:59Speaker 4: Yeah you'll be you'll be hosting shows on NBC Sports.
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: But no one wants me.
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: I mean it's pretty apparent.
- 1:19:06Speaker 8: It's like that guy Brian Johnson that like has the
- 1:19:08Speaker 8: biological age of a twenty five year old, but he's
- 1:19:10Speaker 8: in his forties.
- 1:19:11Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I don't believe that. I called bes on
- 1:19:14Speaker 5: those things, like we hear about I hear about this
- 1:19:17Speaker 5: all the time, Like, oh, like so this like person
- 1:19:20Speaker 5: is like actually seventy, but biologically they're only twenty five,
- 1:19:24Speaker 5: Like now they're seventy jack. Yeah, no, not buying it.
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: Well, okay, I don't I don't want to get into it.
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: But anyway.
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: Two, do you have a rough idea the number of
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: listeners PU has?
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: Well, yeah, we have a lot.
- 1:19:37Speaker 5: We have more than a rough idea.
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: We have more listeners than a lot of towns and
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: cities in the United States. Thousands, Humble brand lots more
- 1:19:46Speaker 4: than thousandsands, Yeah, tens of thousands. Three When an't we
- 1:19:50Speaker 4: going to see the faces of the popular callers and listeners? Yeah,
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: I have a picture in my mind of how Christian
- 1:19:55Speaker 4: and La looks. I picture a dark turtleneck and slick
- 1:19:59Speaker 4: black hair sunglasses, similar to Todd from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
- 1:20:05Speaker 5: We're gonna do that period.
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: Those pictures are scary people.
- 1:20:09Speaker 8: I mean, come on, I'm waiting for like the dead
- 1:20:12Speaker 8: real dead period, like maybe early July after the fourth
- 1:20:17Speaker 8: for training camp, after many camp.
- 1:20:19Speaker 4: Yeah, uh, Lizzie right, No, that's something else.
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: Tyler and ludlow Wright said.
- 1:20:26Speaker 4: If there were to be a true NFL minor league
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: with players that had contracts with NFL teams, I think
- 1:20:32Speaker 4: it would give a considerable bump to interest in the league.
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: But for fantasy football players, Mike myself, having a spring
- 1:20:39Speaker 4: league with fantasy platforms would scratch that itch we have
- 1:20:42Speaker 4: in the off season. Even casual fans interested fantasy football
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: spring league.
- 1:20:48Speaker 5: That that wasn't the point, But you do you if
- 1:20:51Speaker 5: that's what, If that's why you're into it, then I
- 1:20:53Speaker 5: then all the power to it. It's more revenue for
- 1:20:56Speaker 5: my shape league ahead, Mike.
- 1:20:58Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm just gonna mention that announced. David Andrews will
- 1:21:01Speaker 7: be announcing his retirement on Monday.
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: There'll be a whole press continent.
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: Press conference for him.
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: Will have that Lie Patris dot Com, David and David
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: Andrews deciding to retire Ye Now a game which of
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: these two players would win most consistently in a one
- 1:21:17Speaker 4: on one matchup in their prime?
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: John Hannah versus Vince Wilfork.
- 1:21:23Speaker 5: Vince Wilfork, Oh, Hannah, That's it's hard.
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: Hannah was Hannah was sixty?
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: Right, That's what different It's that difference is inside.
- 1:21:30Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying, Vince.
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: Can I say John Hannah with today's like, it's not
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: a two hundred underd pounds what today?
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: Guard?
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: I think John Hannah was a better player than Vince
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: will agree? Is that fair to say?
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: Absolutely? It was a hall of a monomano. It's going
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: to the beef.
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: Because Evan's right. I think he three thirty, maybe played
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: at like two eighty.
- 1:21:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I think Vince played at like four hundred.
- 1:21:53Speaker 8: Well, according to Ted, Oh, they got him like his
- 1:21:57Speaker 8: ideal playing weight, all things consider like balanced nutrition.
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: Well that's what it said in the media.
- 1:22:04Speaker 8: Guy, Well that's what they tried to get him to.
- 1:22:07Speaker 5: There's no way he granted.
- 1:22:08Speaker 8: He was way higher than that when Ted before Ted
- 1:22:11Speaker 8: started working with him.
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: Matt Light versus Matthew.
- 1:22:14Speaker 5: Judon that's a pretty even one.
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: I'd say fifty to fifty split.
- 1:22:19Speaker 5: Yeah, that's an even one.
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: Yeah, because I don't think Judon was, you know, like
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: the the Jason Taylor, like the really athletic edge rushers
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: gave Matt light a hard gave everybody apart, but he
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: was pretty good. I think with just you know, the
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: because I don't think Judon was that dynamic. He was
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: a good edge rusher, but not like Jason Taylor or
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: Dwight Feeney.
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: Of those guys, Aaron Dobson, Verus Cyrus Jones, that's Aaron.
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: I'm going to say Aaron. He's contested catches.
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: Devin mccordy and Ben Coates.
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: Oh Coats, Ben Coates, Coats in their prime, Coats was
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: a really good receiving.
- 1:22:59Speaker 5: Coat was awesome. I wish that uh Coats like played
- 1:23:03Speaker 5: now like. If Colts played now like, he would be
- 1:23:06Speaker 5: one of the best tight ends in the league.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: I would think uh Christian Gonzales versus Julian Edelman.
- 1:23:14Speaker 5: Such different types of players, Like one's an outside corner
- 1:23:17Speaker 5: on the slot receiver.
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: I'd say Edelman because I because of what Evan just said,
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: it's kind of a.
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: He's gonna get open.
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: You know it's I used to make fun of Andy.
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: You would always say that's a tough matchup, and I
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: would say, what a cornerback against a wide receiver? And
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: you know, I know, I know what Andy was meaning, Like,
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: he's a taller outside corner who's looking to get you know,
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: you tell me a j Brown against Christian Gonzales. I'll
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: I might take Gonzales there, but woman's shifty and if
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: that he's in space.
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: Does it depend on whose edelman to win that matchup?
- 1:23:49Speaker 13: No?
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: Does he get open or not? Yeah, you win the
- 1:23:51Speaker 3: matchup for getting opened. I know, well, but you think
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: about it in the bubble. We watched that drill all.
- 1:23:54Speaker 7: The time and it's pretty much wide receiver wins every
- 1:23:56Speaker 7: sing every time. If you're telling me that, all right,
- 1:23:58Speaker 7: there are going to be eleven guys in the field
- 1:24:00Speaker 7: and Gonzales is in the slot versus him, it's still
- 1:24:03Speaker 7: tough man.
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: Even when you see those one on ones, right, we
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: watch them all the time and we always chart him
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: right when they go downfield, the cornerbacks have a much
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: better chance. But when it's the short area of quickness
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: and you know, little jerk routes TikTok routes.
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: Yeah, Corey Dillon versus Dante High Tower, we're.
- 1:24:20Speaker 5: Talking TikTok routes like, oh yeah, you're gonna break five
- 1:24:23Speaker 5: times before you actually run the round. Yeah great, cool.
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: Sorry, Corey Dylan verus Dante High Tower.
- 1:24:30Speaker 7: Oh gosh, that's another good one.
- 1:24:34Speaker 5: Very I mean, like in the whole, like in what
- 1:24:36Speaker 5: sense he carry covering him?
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: Corey Dillon break Dante High Towers tackled, and then I
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: would probably say no.
- 1:24:45Speaker 5: I'm going High Tower. He tackled marsham Lynch with one arm.
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: So I might go with Dylan here.
- 1:24:52Speaker 3: That's tough. That's a good one.
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: Tom Brady versus Brian Urlcker.
- 1:24:56Speaker 5: Well we already saw that, right, we know the one?
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: Yeah, right?
- 1:25:00Speaker 4: And my song of choice for a runout with the
- 1:25:02Speaker 4: Boys are Back in Town by Finn Lizzie.
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: Oh you had such a good game and then you
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: ruined it with that song choice the Boys are back
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: in Town? Come on, that gets you hyped up?
- 1:25:14Speaker 3: Come on, really, that's not it's not my masking, baby.
- 1:25:20Speaker 4: I'm asking you if you heard that like before, that's
- 1:25:23Speaker 4: the guys run out with I don't think if that
- 1:25:26Speaker 4: is no, come on.
- 1:25:27Speaker 7: I was thinking about this a tiny bit, and I
- 1:25:28Speaker 7: don't want to derail it, but I was just wondering, like,
- 1:25:30Speaker 7: what if you just stuck with crazy training.
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: You've had it.
- 1:25:33Speaker 7: That's a concert or Welcome to the Jungle.
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: Welcome to the Jungle, no one's ever done it.
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: Can't you be doing crazy trains.
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: That's I'm kidding everybody.
- 1:25:43Speaker 8: It seems like the.
- 1:25:46Speaker 7: I know the Bengals for sure, but the program, the program,
- 1:25:49Speaker 7: that movie did it right with the Welcome to the Jungle,
- 1:25:51Speaker 7: that practice.
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: Sequence, Welcome to the Jungle. That to me, I always
- 1:25:54Speaker 3: get it, you know, I'm talking about the program. Yeah
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: bad women, Yeah, of course. Yeah, you're staring at me
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: like I don't just respect me that I don't pretend
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: to get. I don't pretend I don't know movies that
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: everybody knows.
- 1:26:06Speaker 5: Welcome to the Jungles of celticsminator Why Jungle? Yeah, because
- 1:26:11Speaker 5: KG called the garden the jungle one time and so
- 1:26:14Speaker 5: then they started playing Welcome to the Jungle, and then
- 1:26:16Speaker 5: it's been the song right before tip off is playing
- 1:26:19Speaker 5: everything go ye.
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: Do they still do that?
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: Yeah? Uh?
- 1:26:24Speaker 4: Evan's still catching strays from his music case Ben from
- 1:26:28Speaker 4: Hershey Pennsylvania.
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: Evan's taste in.
- 1:26:30Speaker 4: Music is classic nostalgia bias with a hint of cultural gatekeeping,
- 1:26:35Speaker 4: two psychological phenomenas I agree with which impact our perception
- 1:26:39Speaker 4: of music and close us off from hearing new music. Subjectively,
- 1:26:43Speaker 4: human beings genuinely believe the music we grew up with
- 1:26:46Speaker 4: listening into between the ages of twelve and twenty two
- 1:26:50Speaker 4: is the best music, because those are the years of
- 1:26:52Speaker 4: life when we have the most experiences and make our
- 1:26:55Speaker 4: deepest rooted memories. We reject new music we're exposed to
- 1:27:00Speaker 4: and if widely praised. Furthermore, evans categorization of Sandstorm as
- 1:27:05Speaker 4: dubstep should disqualify him from any conversation about modern music.
- 1:27:10Speaker 4: Sandstorm is as much dubstep song as Taylor Swift is
- 1:27:14Speaker 4: heavy metal.
- 1:27:15Speaker 5: Evan the fifth quick Sandstorm is literally an It's electronic music, like,
- 1:27:21Speaker 5: it's house music. Like there's no words to the song,
- 1:27:24Speaker 5: it's just the beat.
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: I have no idea what Yeah, it's I don't know
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: what it is.
- 1:27:27Speaker 5: It's I mean, I grew up on Sandstorm, so but yeah,
- 1:27:31Speaker 5: I don't even think my generation is the best type
- 1:27:34Speaker 5: of music. I think your guys' generation is the best
- 1:27:36Speaker 5: kind of music that So I disagree with that whole email.
- 1:27:40Speaker 5: I don't think that it has anything to do with
- 1:27:41Speaker 5: my type of music.
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: So when you were growing up, did your dad play
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: a lot of music?
- 1:27:45Speaker 19: So that's why every.
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: That proves his theory.
- 1:27:49Speaker 5: But no, his theory is is that the music that
- 1:27:52Speaker 5: came out when I was twelve to twenty is.
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: No the music you listened to when you were twelve
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: to twenty.
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: But I would put I would definitely all into that
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: category of that. The reason I love disco is because
- 1:28:03Speaker 3: that's my form of music, Okay, but I am not
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: closed off to today's music. I don't know Sandstorm or
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: whatever you know that he's but like that how many
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: times that we talked about Taylor Swift and like what's
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: what's popular now? Like, I think a lot of this
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: stuff is great, And I think a lot of older people.
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: I know, when I was growing up, older people are like, oh,
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: that crap that you listen to. I don't hear people
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: my age say that crap that people listen to Nowadays,
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: I hear a lot of people that like this stuff
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: that comes out in different genres, not just like the
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: top forty stuff. But you know how many people talk
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: about the rap stuff that's out now, you know Kendrick.
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: You know a lot of people liked it. At the
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: super Bowl, a lot of people didn't like it. I
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: don't think it's I think he's painting.
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: With a broad presser. I think there's something to it.
- 1:28:50Speaker 3: No, there is something to what you remember, what were
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: formed on sticks with you. There's definitely something to that.
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: But I don't think that that automatically means you shut
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: yourself off to anything else.
- 1:29:01Speaker 8: There's also just so many new Like the way people
- 1:29:04Speaker 8: find new music is so different now with streaming, and
- 1:29:07Speaker 8: there's so much of it. So there's a lot of
- 1:29:10Speaker 8: great music that's coming out, but it's it's harder to find.
- 1:29:14Speaker 8: You have to kind of put time and effort into it,
- 1:29:17Speaker 8: whereas like the stuff that's on top forty pop is
- 1:29:21Speaker 8: just like annoying frequency music that it's like you get
- 1:29:26Speaker 8: sick of it and you're bored of it.
- 1:29:27Speaker 5: But if you tie. But I don't feel like the
- 1:29:30Speaker 5: top forty stuff, like you know, we don't. I don't
- 1:29:33Speaker 5: like drive around listening to the radio like I used
- 1:29:36Speaker 5: to when I was younger, right like in the nineties,
- 1:29:39Speaker 5: right because now you just put on your Spotify whatever, right,
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: whatever you're.
- 1:29:43Speaker 4: Because it's sort of like being a fan, like you
- 1:29:46Speaker 4: grew up with a certain group of athletes you know,
- 1:29:50Speaker 4: and you don't know the Babe Bruce and all the
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: you know, So is it kind of the same thing
- 1:29:56Speaker 4: where it's what you grew up knowing and these.
- 1:29:58Speaker 5: Are the best, right, But like, in my opinion, like
- 1:30:01Speaker 5: to go into that with the twelve through twenty age thing,
- 1:30:04Speaker 5: like to me that would say that, I would say that,
- 1:30:07Speaker 5: like the best rock band of all time was Green Day,
- 1:30:09Speaker 5: right because that was when I that was my age.
- 1:30:12Speaker 5: But I don't think that because your father you were.
- 1:30:17Speaker 5: But like but even if my father didn't expose that
- 1:30:20Speaker 5: to me, I still wouldn't say that.
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: Why why because like about.
- 1:30:24Speaker 8: The Well that's how I feel because I think when
- 1:30:27Speaker 8: you and I were in middle in high school and
- 1:30:29Speaker 8: like early college, that's the best hip hop. Probably a
- 1:30:33Speaker 8: little before that too, yeah and R and B. Now,
- 1:30:37Speaker 8: I don't I don't know the last time I really
- 1:30:39Speaker 8: liked a rap song that came out maybe like a
- 1:30:42Speaker 8: little like Isaiah Rashad was probably the last one I
- 1:30:45Speaker 8: was like, oh, I really like this song. Well, unfortunately,
- 1:30:48Speaker 8: a lot of well that's what I'm talking about. That's
- 1:30:50Speaker 8: me early college.
- 1:30:51Speaker 5: A lot of it now is mumble rap. Yeah, and
- 1:30:54Speaker 5: I haven't, but whereas I have no time.
- 1:30:58Speaker 8: There's some great like the singer songwriterive stuff that's coming
- 1:31:03Speaker 8: out now.
- 1:31:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: I was in I was in a T mobile or
- 1:31:06Speaker 4: one of those phone stores Verizon, and I was just
- 1:31:09Speaker 4: making fun of Drake, and I'm like, God, Drake is
- 1:31:11Speaker 4: mumble rap and the guy behind it is not.
- 1:31:14Speaker 5: That's definitely not mumble rap.
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: But Drake's not mumble I know he's popper rapp is.
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: I have no idea, you know, I don't know who
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: is mumble rap.
- 1:31:22Speaker 7: But you guys are looking like you don't know what
- 1:31:24Speaker 7: it's like to go to Strawberries and like you can't
- 1:31:27Speaker 7: listen to anything.
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: You just look at like the CD case.
- 1:31:30Speaker 7: These guys it was the music store, like the last
- 1:31:34Speaker 7: time music The.
- 1:31:36Speaker 8: Last time I bought a CD at f y E was.
- 1:31:40Speaker 8: I think I was a junior in high school because
- 1:31:41Speaker 8: I had a license.
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: It's just like the artwork like that.
- 1:31:44Speaker 8: I forget what album. I think it was, honestly, Taylor
- 1:31:47Speaker 8: Swift the right album. Me and my friend Sierra got
- 1:31:49Speaker 8: in the car after school drove to the mall and
- 1:31:52Speaker 8: that's the last time. I Oh, no, Casey, I bought
- 1:31:54Speaker 8: a Casey Muscave.
- 1:31:56Speaker 5: But like we were lucky.
- 1:31:57Speaker 8: It was high school though, like we got in not.
- 1:32:02Speaker 5: The best of it all, Yeah, we got it. Like
- 1:32:04Speaker 5: like my cousins who are like ten years younger than
- 1:32:06Speaker 5: I am, Like they have no idea what we're talking about.
- 1:32:08Speaker 5: I had. That's upsetting, Like that's too bad.
- 1:32:11Speaker 8: I had cassettes I had. We had the Pilot, the Pirrating,
- 1:32:16Speaker 8: Lime Wire, Days, My Day, the Best and then Streaming
- 1:32:22Speaker 8: still that Napster like.
- 1:32:26Speaker 5: The Too Big. Yeah, but you know we had that.
- 1:32:29Speaker 5: You know I bought, We bought c ds we like
- 1:32:31Speaker 5: I had. I had a cassette player. I think the
- 1:32:33Speaker 5: eminem Show. I had it on the cassette.
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: Yeah, you were going to cassette single.
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: I bought a couple of cassette singles.
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: It's crazy. I had Return of the Mac so I
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: saw the single.
- 1:32:44Speaker 4: I remember the Parties first cassette. It was the Partridges fan.
- 1:32:49Speaker 5: I think I Love You?
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: Isn't that.
- 1:32:54Speaker 8: I was singing in the last couple of episodes.
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: My parents are Partridge family people. We listened to that
- 1:32:59Speaker 5: a lot.
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: I don't think I ever bought a CD. I had
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: a million of them, but I didn't buy it.
- 1:33:04Speaker 5: It was the worst because you had the CD the
- 1:33:06Speaker 5: portable CD player, but then you also had to bring
- 1:33:08Speaker 5: all your CDs with you, so you had a case with.
- 1:33:14Speaker 8: It was such a back burning your own yeah, stealing
- 1:33:18Speaker 8: the music from lime wire, burning your own CD and
- 1:33:21Speaker 8: then writing and sharp.
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:33:22Speaker 5: My sister had had like a CD burner that my
- 1:33:25Speaker 5: parents bought her for like a present, and we would
- 1:33:27Speaker 5: do that all like all the time, just and then
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: we'd have to write like what you like on it?
- 1:33:32Speaker 5: Like what you put on it?
- 1:33:33Speaker 19: And yeah, I mean you did CDs, but we would
- 1:33:36Speaker 19: make mixtape but you don't do that, like do people
- 1:33:39Speaker 19: do like my mix for you that used to playst
- 1:33:44Speaker 19: but but is the comments will be like, oh, I
- 1:33:45Speaker 19: want to make a playlist for my girlfriend.
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: Somebody have a question. Yeah, So when you drove out
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: to Western mass did you do so with the mixed tape?
- 1:33:52Speaker 8: Do you burn that girl?
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: One hundred percent? I got thousand percent had like driving
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: out to see Lory mix, you know, like I didn't
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: even I wasn't even thinking in the movies for you
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: to get in the moon.
- 1:34:11Speaker 4: Like a mixed driving out Glory mixed to get you
- 1:34:14Speaker 4: in the move.
- 1:34:16Speaker 5: It's better than the Depot, little Marvin gay On there.
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: Like it might have been a little emo.
- 1:34:25Speaker 4: So I had a playlist called corn and Corns, Corny Yeah,
- 1:34:30Speaker 4: and Gordon Lightfoot in the Carpenter.
- 1:34:34Speaker 8: I Love the Carpenters. That was one of my first cassettes.
- 1:34:37Speaker 2: What What what Paul good stuff. It was all like
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: corny stuff.
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: So the Coppenter's right, Richard Coppenter used to I've seen,
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: like again these documentaries that you watch, and he was like, yeah,
- 1:34:54Speaker 3: you know, everybody made fun of it, but everybody had it,
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: and they knew the words.
- 1:34:58Speaker 2: Everybody knew all the.
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: We would you would be in concert and everybody sang
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: every song, but no one could ever admit that they
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: liked it. No one ever admitted that they wanted it.
- 1:35:07Speaker 7: But it's like back now, all these albums that we sold,
- 1:35:11Speaker 7: like yeah, Nickelback, is that you were able to but
- 1:35:15Speaker 7: sure enough to not sure what the public perception was
- 1:35:18Speaker 7: My corn mixed I learned when I brought up all
- 1:35:20Speaker 7: this music stuff. Apparently Nickelback is like cool now like
- 1:35:24Speaker 7: when we were when I was growing up, Nickelback.
- 1:35:26Speaker 5: Was corn like. That was like, look at this photograph,
- 1:35:29Speaker 5: like it's like, come on, Like, but like, now.
- 1:35:31Speaker 8: He's an objectively good musician and songwriter.
- 1:35:34Speaker 5: I'm not saying he's not. It's just when we were
- 1:35:35Speaker 5: growing up that was like if you listen to Nickelback,
- 1:35:38Speaker 5: you were kind of.
- 1:35:39Speaker 8: I never subscribed to that. I was alternative vire.
- 1:35:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:35:42Speaker 8: I was like, no, I think this is pretty, but
- 1:35:44Speaker 8: I liked the goo goo dolls. I liked that kind
- 1:35:46Speaker 8: of Yeah.
- 1:35:47Speaker 5: I mean like Creed was a little cooler, like if
- 1:35:49Speaker 5: you were you know, that was a little bit better Cowboys, right,
- 1:35:51Speaker 5: I mean, I make one of the best halftime shows
- 1:35:54Speaker 5: of all time, easily top five.
- 1:35:57Speaker 3: Will's been getting into that Creed Yeah, stuff like that
- 1:36:00Speaker 3: reads great. You had all the screen stuff, the.
- 1:36:03Speaker 8: Kids, Yeah, having a moment on open.
- 1:36:08Speaker 5: Yeah so.
- 1:36:11Speaker 9: Bad.
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: Oh god classic.
- 1:36:13Speaker 4: Tyler and George just says, hey, Paul, the jerk route
- 1:36:16Speaker 4: call they're all out.
- 1:36:17Speaker 3: Of you that there was a reference to my jerk, right.
- 1:36:25Speaker 4: I like Tyler and Ludlow, big props to the email
- 1:36:28Speaker 4: of that just called out Evan for calling Sandstorm dubstep.
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: Dubstep call whatever you want.
- 1:36:33Speaker 5: I don't care.
- 1:36:34Speaker 2: Dubstep is a subgenre of electronic.
- 1:36:37Speaker 5: Thank You, Sandstorm.
- 1:36:39Speaker 4: Falls into the trance subgenre. If an electronic song doesn't
- 1:36:43Speaker 4: have rubs and wobbles, it isn't dubstep.
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: Okay, whoa who like that kind of stuff?
- 1:36:51Speaker 5: Is that they played Sandstorm it's all there's no there's
- 1:36:55Speaker 5: no lyrics, it's it's just a beat. And then you
- 1:36:57Speaker 5: would like mosh pit in the middle of the dance
- 1:37:00Speaker 5: for and all, and it was we would all just
- 1:37:03Speaker 5: like you know, tackle each other like.
- 1:37:05Speaker 3: Tsunami kind of Tsunami and Tsunami.
- 1:37:06Speaker 7: They did a big thing of the Army Navy game
- 1:37:08Speaker 7: where they started playing Tami and maybe.
- 1:37:11Speaker 3: What we think of like daft punk, how would we
- 1:37:14Speaker 3: classify that?
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: Like, what is that electronic?
- 1:37:18Speaker 5: Alt rock?
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: Alt rock? I would say so, Tony says, Evan couldn't
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: be more wrong here. That step is more in the
- 1:37:26Speaker 2: vein of.
- 1:37:26Speaker 4: Skill wreck, skill skrill ex crillis Sandstorm is more of
- 1:37:31Speaker 4: a trance song. Also, the disrespect for two thousands alternative
- 1:37:35Speaker 4: is a shame. I love me some Simon and Garfunkel,
- 1:37:38Speaker 4: James Taylor, and Abba, but no era of music is
- 1:37:41Speaker 4: stronger than the nineties to two thousands alt indie eighties
- 1:37:45Speaker 4: takes the cake as the worst pop music era.
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: Hair bands and ballads are awful, So.
- 1:37:52Speaker 3: Pushed back on how you can if you like all
- 1:37:57Speaker 3: different kinds of like Prince Heyday is the eighties and
- 1:38:00Speaker 3: being extremely disrespectful to me to one of the most
- 1:38:03Speaker 3: Michael Jackson. These are some of the most iconic artist
- 1:38:07Speaker 3: sever These are like heart of the eighties, Madonna, like
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: even Madonna. Yeah, like that's I mean, if you like
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: allies better, like that's that's perfectly acceptable, like the nineties
- 1:38:19Speaker 3: all like that's what you like. But to say that
- 1:38:22Speaker 3: there was nothing in the eighties is ridiculous.
- 1:38:26Speaker 5: I love the eighties music. I have lots of great
- 1:38:29Speaker 5: songs in the eighties.
- 1:38:31Speaker 7: Let's Go Crazy like Prince Let's Go Crazy is like
- 1:38:34Speaker 7: an incredible song. Yeah, you won't get any pushback on
- 1:38:36Speaker 7: calling Prince a genius from the from the music recently.
- 1:38:41Speaker 5: Telling you I've been getting into Prince. Not that I
- 1:38:44Speaker 5: didn't know Prince before, but I got some bangers.
- 1:38:47Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:38:48Speaker 5: Absolutely, he was not familiar with his game. No, I wasn't.
- 1:38:50Speaker 5: You weren't familiar with Prince. I was familiar, but I wasn't.
- 1:38:53Speaker 8: On the peripherals. But now he's really diving deep.
- 1:38:56Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, okay, showing itself.
- 1:38:59Speaker 4: Burnton speaking of Nickelback, he says his vote for hype
- 1:39:02Speaker 4: song is burn It Down by Nickelback.
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:39:07Speaker 5: I think it's funny how it's going to come back.
- 1:39:09Speaker 5: It really has.
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: I thought he was going to like be like, how's
- 1:39:12Speaker 3: Marcus Jones looking out there? Yeah, get tied to tie
- 1:39:15Speaker 3: it back to think they've given up. Guess not. I
- 1:39:19Speaker 3: like the music talk because I think it's so subjective.
- 1:39:23Speaker 3: It's what you like, and you know.
- 1:39:25Speaker 7: That's how I feel about music. I hate, like usually
- 1:39:27Speaker 7: hate when people are like, who are your favorite bands?
- 1:39:28Speaker 7: I'm like, I don't know, it's kind of personal, like
- 1:39:30Speaker 7: I I you know, certainly I like a lot of
- 1:39:32Speaker 7: famous stuff that everybody likes.
- 1:39:33Speaker 3: But I also I just like, I don't know. I
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: like what I like, and I don't need to sit
- 1:39:35Speaker 3: here and argue with why it's good or not. Yeah,
- 1:39:37Speaker 3: And remember we used to argue with Hardy all the
- 1:39:39Speaker 3: time about that because he would get mad at us,
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: you know, because we didn't treat it the same way
- 1:39:43Speaker 3: he did, you know, like it was important.
- 1:39:47Speaker 5: But in Sandstorm Dubsteppers.
- 1:39:49Speaker 7: Right like, I feel like I'm woefully uninformed, like I
- 1:39:53Speaker 7: don't know all the different Well you should listen show no, no, no, I'm.
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: Talking about about the music. Just a play it.
- 1:40:01Speaker 5: He doesn't just hear it, he listens to hear.
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: I'm like, I listened to songs and I'd be like,
- 1:40:07Speaker 3: oh I like that. Oh I don't like that, Oh
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: I like that. Like I don't necessarily say I like
- 1:40:12Speaker 3: this sub section of some other like random, you know,
- 1:40:16Speaker 3: group of song. I don't, But I don't. I don't
- 1:40:19Speaker 3: because I can't be put in the box because I
- 1:40:21Speaker 3: don't know what the box is. You just like what
- 1:40:22Speaker 3: you like. And like when you were talking, what is
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: it that you called sandstone dub dub step.
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: I've never heard that term in my life.
- 1:40:30Speaker 5: Ill apparently I don't know anything about it.
- 1:40:33Speaker 7: So I'm just going to so I couldn't tell you
- 1:40:35Speaker 7: if I like dump step or I don't.
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: I do like house music.
- 1:40:38Speaker 8: I like how house music in a while.
- 1:40:41Speaker 5: I mean like like clarity like that.
- 1:40:44Speaker 2: Yeah, if you look at my like that, Fred likes
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: that really? Oh yeah, driving up from the Cakes.
- 1:40:52Speaker 8: Not like is it like house music or is it?
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: Like I like I said, I like that, I like.
- 1:40:58Speaker 4: The Yeah, when we were we were in Germany.
- 1:41:02Speaker 7: We were in that club in Germany and friends like,
- 1:41:03Speaker 7: all right, we gotta go, let's go, we gotta.
- 1:41:06Speaker 5: Go, Like this Gibson after Dark was and now it's time.
- 1:41:14Speaker 5: It was a great time.
- 1:41:17Speaker 3: Best German television.
- 1:41:18Speaker 2: That's Justin corrects me.
- 1:41:21Speaker 4: And the last show I talked about a script that uh,
- 1:41:25Speaker 4: Schwarzenegger tricked Stallone into accepting. I said it was Cobra,
- 1:41:29Speaker 4: but Justin says it was stop or my mom will shoot.
- 1:41:32Speaker 4: Oh geez, that makes I think schwarz Yeah, it's like
- 1:41:37Speaker 4: throw off.
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: That was an awful movie.
- 1:41:40Speaker 3: Stop or my mom will shoot? Who played the mom?
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: Like, yeah, it was.
- 1:41:46Speaker 10: Whatever.
- 1:41:47Speaker 7: Let's say Swarts and your turned down Cobra, especially with
- 1:41:50Speaker 7: that villain, that's a big mistake.
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: Linda writes, and I don't know what she's talking about.
- 1:41:55Speaker 4: She says, you may have covered this already. I've been
- 1:41:57Speaker 4: reading on social media that Tom Brady will her and
- 1:42:00Speaker 4: as general manager.
- 1:42:01Speaker 2: General manager. Wonder if it's true.
- 1:42:04Speaker 8: Okay, there's some fake news going around the Raiders or US.
- 1:42:08Speaker 8: There's some stuff, a fake news graphic going around because
- 1:42:11Speaker 8: my grandma, who barely speaks a look of English, sent
- 1:42:14Speaker 8: me the other day, Oh, Tom Braid he's coming to
- 1:42:18Speaker 8: join the ownership. And I was like, no, he's a
- 1:42:21Speaker 8: part owner of the Raiders. And he's like, Oh, that's
- 1:42:22Speaker 8: what Facebook said.
- 1:42:24Speaker 5: That's what just happens all the time. My dad will.
- 1:42:30Speaker 8: It's a fake graphic.
- 1:42:34Speaker 2: Let's see Mitch and Saratoga.
- 1:42:35Speaker 4: I'm going to be in town on Saturday for post malone,
- 1:42:38Speaker 4: and I'm wondering what the best place to eat dinner
- 1:42:41Speaker 4: around town is any type of food?
- 1:42:42Speaker 20: Well, for you in Boston is a million town is Yeah,
- 1:42:49Speaker 20: So if he means Foxborough, there's you know, Davio's, There's
- 1:42:52Speaker 20: all the restaurants at Patrio Place.
- 1:42:54Speaker 4: There's Luciano's down the street. If you want the best nachos,
- 1:42:57Speaker 4: go to four in Franklin.
- 1:43:00Speaker 2: Really yeah, I.
- 1:43:01Speaker 3: Think I've been there. I think I've been there.
- 1:43:05Speaker 7: Nas are off in my celebration meal, like and I
- 1:43:07Speaker 7: was really desperate for an apartment.
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: In l A.
- 1:43:09Speaker 7: And I finally got one, and I was like, I'm
- 1:43:10Speaker 7: going out for nacho. I just chew myself to a
- 1:43:12Speaker 7: big ass plated chicken.
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: Is pretty good. Yeah.
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: I usually I like to wait about a month or so,
- 1:43:22Speaker 3: let them work out the kinks.
- 1:43:23Speaker 7: With new restaurants. I don't want to go charge it
- 1:43:24Speaker 7: into new places because the barbecue players, like you feel bad.
- 1:43:27Speaker 7: They're overwhelmed, they don't have stuff yet, and you don't
- 1:43:29Speaker 7: want to judge it while they're still getting a going,
- 1:43:31Speaker 7: you know.
- 1:43:31Speaker 8: Seeing barbecue. I was at Robert T. Lynch yesterday, the
- 1:43:35Speaker 8: golf course in Brookline. Fancy and it's not that fancy,
- 1:43:40Speaker 8: but uh, anyways, long story short, some of the best
- 1:43:44Speaker 8: fried chicken I've ever had in the entire state. I
- 1:43:47Speaker 8: had the clubhouse restaurants called the Hemlock Grill, and they
- 1:43:51Speaker 8: had like a barbecue smoker going the whole time. I
- 1:43:53Speaker 8: didn't try the barbecue, but the fried chicken was so
- 1:43:56Speaker 8: freaking good that I want to try the barbecue. But
- 1:44:00Speaker 8: also it's one of those things where it's like, I
- 1:44:01Speaker 8: don't know if I could ever not get that fried
- 1:44:03Speaker 8: chicken sandwich.
- 1:44:04Speaker 2: Oh it's a sandwich.
- 1:44:05Speaker 8: Well, they have fried chicken. They have fried chicken sandwiches,
- 1:44:07Speaker 8: they have. I got a Nashville Hot one.
- 1:44:09Speaker 4: It was so so if you like fried chicken, like
- 1:44:12Speaker 4: off the bone, like real fried chicken, and sham on
- 1:44:15Speaker 4: the cake, okay, seafood salms and sandwich on Friday. On
- 1:44:19Speaker 4: the weekends they have a fried chicken dinner. You have
- 1:44:22Speaker 4: to wait a little longer because it's made to order. Decadent.
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: It's decadent. Yeah. Yeah, so with all places seafood sands
- 1:44:30Speaker 4: for the fried Well, that's why.
- 1:44:32Speaker 8: I was confused about this golf course having randomly like
- 1:44:35Speaker 8: a delicious scratched chicken good Southern barbecue chicken.
- 1:44:41Speaker 4: Mitch and Saratago also reminds me that and a lot
- 1:44:45Speaker 4: of people have sent this in. He was playing connections
- 1:44:49Speaker 4: in the New York Times and the first two words
- 1:44:51Speaker 4: were Chicago Pope, but also in that same one was
- 1:44:55Speaker 4: Rocky and Gladiator. Right, Oh, is that me or you?
- 1:44:59Speaker 2: You? I don't know, why is I usually never have
- 1:45:02Speaker 2: this answer. No, I'm not gonna answer. I'll put him on.
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: I'll put him on there.
- 1:45:08Speaker 5: We definitely got some some people, uh, some terminator people
- 1:45:12Speaker 5: that were standing their ground on our discussion.
- 1:45:17Speaker 4: Yeah, but people were convinced that whoever did that day's
- 1:45:20Speaker 4: connection for the New York Times listens to our show.
- 1:45:24Speaker 2: But Chicago Pope was kind of in the news, So
- 1:45:26Speaker 2: I don't know about the other stuff. Yeah, they have
- 1:45:28Speaker 2: Rocky in.
- 1:45:29Speaker 3: The Chicago Pope. I just I wonder where they came
- 1:45:32Speaker 3: up with that.
- 1:45:33Speaker 5: Right the same place that we came up with it.
- 1:45:38Speaker 4: People just upset with Evan good I like making people upset.
- 1:45:43Speaker 4: Kevin and Dublin says, Evan just described daft punk as
- 1:45:47Speaker 4: alt rock. Does he think Metallica is techno? How about
- 1:45:50Speaker 4: the jazz virtue also known as Marilyn Manson or a
- 1:45:53Speaker 4: great trans group called the Beatles.
- 1:45:57Speaker 2: So sorry, you've got to learn your genres.
- 1:46:00Speaker 4: I'm so sorry you don't know, but you.
- 1:46:04Speaker 3: So How would we describe daft punk? I don't know,
- 1:46:07Speaker 3: like I mean, like like trying. I only say this,
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: there's great I would think of it.
- 1:46:12Speaker 8: I don't know the difference.
- 1:46:13Speaker 7: There's amazing videos on the online and the internets where
- 1:46:17Speaker 7: they show the like the music, and they go and
- 1:46:21Speaker 7: and how dapt punk like cut little pieces of all
- 1:46:23Speaker 7: the different songs to like make something like get Lucky.
- 1:46:25Speaker 7: And it's just the most random little nuggets of sound
- 1:46:29Speaker 7: from so many weird songs that some you've heard of,
- 1:46:32Speaker 7: some you haven't, And they somehow put all these pieces together,
- 1:46:35Speaker 7: slow some of them downsteet some and all of a sudden,
- 1:46:36Speaker 7: it's like and then they hit playing all of them
- 1:46:38Speaker 7: once and you're like, oh, that's get lucky.
- 1:46:39Speaker 3: Like I don't even know how those guys do what
- 1:46:41Speaker 3: they do.
- 1:46:42Speaker 4: Crazy Jesse Justin says, I'm right there with Evan about Prince.
- 1:46:47Speaker 4: I thought for years it was some clone of Michael Jackson.
- 1:46:50Speaker 4: Then I started to listen to him, and I realized
- 1:46:52Speaker 4: why the Olds love Purple Rain.
- 1:46:56Speaker 2: It's not even you an.
- 1:46:57Speaker 5: Old is a great song, but I like the album.
- 1:47:01Speaker 5: I already know the whole album, okay, Like I already
- 1:47:03Speaker 5: knew the song Purple Rain, like I was getting into
- 1:47:06Speaker 5: more of the deep cuts.
- 1:47:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:47:09Speaker 8: He was pretty brilliant when it came to like the
- 1:47:11Speaker 8: business side of things too, which I didn't realize until recently.
- 1:47:14Speaker 5: I just like have a like for like performers, like
- 1:47:18Speaker 5: he like would like bring the house. He was and
- 1:47:20Speaker 5: he was a musician and he was so yeah, Like
- 1:47:23Speaker 5: it wasn't like he was just standing up there.
- 1:47:25Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:47:25Speaker 7: You can know you enjoyed Manlo last night he put
- 1:47:30Speaker 7: on a show, Ben and Brooklyn.
- 1:47:34Speaker 4: He says, not all eighties, he said, not all eighties
- 1:47:37Speaker 4: music is new wave. Tears for Fears wrote songs with
- 1:47:40Speaker 4: compelling lyrics and imaginative guitars. Their songs have been covered
- 1:47:44Speaker 4: a lot over the years. I was singing, everyone wants
- 1:47:48Speaker 4: in the world, just this morning in the shower.
- 1:47:50Speaker 3: Just everybody too, thank you for that. Yeah, just just
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: just this morning.
- 1:48:01Speaker 4: See, everyone wants to talk about music now, so let's
- 1:48:04Speaker 4: let them talk about music.
- 1:48:07Speaker 2: Let's see who is this? I don't know.
- 1:48:10Speaker 4: It says I've got a lot of problems with you people,
- 1:48:13Speaker 4: and now you're going to hear about it. I've now
- 1:48:16Speaker 4: heard two of the most egregious takes ever when it
- 1:48:20Speaker 4: comes to music on this podcast. First, during the emergency
- 1:48:24Speaker 4: podcast when Mayo was fired, Paul said Stevie Nicks was
- 1:48:27Speaker 4: Fleetwood Mac and as big a Fleetwood Mac fan as
- 1:48:30Speaker 4: I am a Patriot fan. This is unacceptable by Paul.
- 1:48:34Speaker 4: Many of their biggest hits were sung by.
- 1:48:36Speaker 2: The late great Christine mcviee and Lindsey Buckingham was critical
- 1:48:40Speaker 2: to their sound too. And then multiple panelists take Neil
- 1:48:43Speaker 2: Diamond over James Taylor. I disavowed this sacrilege and urge
- 1:48:47Speaker 2: you to do the same.
- 1:48:48Speaker 7: Fred, so I would say that the Fleetwood Mac I
- 1:48:53Speaker 7: agree with the Fleetwood MA.
- 1:48:54Speaker 8: Well, I also picked James Taylor, so I would guess
- 1:48:56Speaker 8: I agree.
- 1:48:57Speaker 5: With the thing.
- 1:48:58Speaker 3: I can totally hear that the other.
- 1:48:59Speaker 5: Side, Break the Chain is one of their best songs.
- 1:49:02Speaker 3: But they and they were all a huge part, Like
- 1:49:04Speaker 3: Fleetwood Mac would not have been the same without any
- 1:49:06Speaker 3: of john the members and.
- 1:49:08Speaker 8: Their drama was so crucial to it all correct.
- 1:49:10Speaker 3: Which is kind of why I made the pin. I
- 1:49:12Speaker 3: just feel like Stevie Nicks was the best of and
- 1:49:15Speaker 3: maybe I misspoke by saying she was Fleetwood Mac. That's
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: probably strong, so I can totally take the criticism there.
- 1:49:22Speaker 3: The other one is just like your preference. But I
- 1:49:24Speaker 3: think they think James Taylor has a million great songs.
- 1:49:26Speaker 3: I would rather see Neil Diamond in concert than James
- 1:49:29Speaker 3: Taylor and Fleetwood Mac had.
- 1:49:30Speaker 7: I think everybody else had solo projects, but nobody did
- 1:49:33Speaker 7: Leather and Lace, right, Like that's Stevie Nicks, like she
- 1:49:36Speaker 7: she had like the solo she.
- 1:49:37Speaker 3: Had them one with Don Henley too. She had great
- 1:49:40Speaker 3: great duets. That was because of Jimmy Iovine, who was
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: her boyfriend at the time, and he cherry picked all
- 1:49:47Speaker 3: these like duets for her to do and he interested.
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: That's how her solo career really kind of Bella Donna came.
- 1:49:54Speaker 3: I think around that time.
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: Get to some VH one Behind the Music.
- 1:49:58Speaker 3: Another documentary. Maybe you should call to yourself and do
- 1:50:00Speaker 3: something other than watch the papers.
- 1:50:02Speaker 4: I just listen to Hearty Show and I get all
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: the info because he talks about the songs Jasper and Portland.
- 1:50:09Speaker 4: Rumor has it that the MBTA will be upgrading the
- 1:50:12Speaker 4: Foxborough commuter rail station to develop world standards and anticipation
- 1:50:16Speaker 4: of FIFA, which is great news.
- 1:50:18Speaker 3: That sounds good, Okay.
- 1:50:20Speaker 4: In addition to that, I think Craft should pay for
- 1:50:23Speaker 4: additional trains on game days to ease off pressure on traffic,
- 1:50:27Speaker 4: cut down on dois.
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: I don't know what that means.
- 1:50:30Speaker 4: I would take a train if I didn't, if it
- 1:50:32Speaker 4: didn't show up so close to kickoff and leave so
- 1:50:35Speaker 4: soon after.
- 1:50:36Speaker 7: Yeah, the afterpart is a tough It's hard to thread
- 1:50:39Speaker 7: the needle. It's just a little intimidating where you're like
- 1:50:41Speaker 7: you got to get the train out and there's only
- 1:50:42Speaker 7: a specific time you can come in, especially if you're.
- 1:50:44Speaker 2: Making it great to have multiples.
- 1:50:46Speaker 8: Yeah, well, it should come down this far on a
- 1:50:49Speaker 8: more regular basis. I feel like I feel like it
- 1:50:51Speaker 8: goes so far north every day on a regular schedule.
- 1:50:54Speaker 5: Yeah, the Tough Party. You can take the tea to Lowell.
- 1:50:57Speaker 7: Yeah, maybe they pump in Pup Game Show into the train.
- 1:51:02Speaker 2: I'm not sure if it's been said, but if you
- 1:51:03Speaker 2: could get a licensed edit of Dire Straits Money for
- 1:51:06Speaker 2: Nothing without stings singing about MTV into the intro in
- 1:51:10Speaker 2: the riff, that would go so hard during games, so hard.
- 1:51:17Speaker 7: We can't do, like I sing, we can't play any music, right, Like,
- 1:51:19Speaker 7: there's nothing we can do on the show because it's
- 1:51:21Speaker 7: you can sing it illegal?
- 1:51:22Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: But even that I heard, it's like, is it well?
- 1:51:25Speaker 2: We heard?
- 1:51:25Speaker 5: I heard?
- 1:51:25Speaker 2: I mean, we heard a story.
- 1:51:26Speaker 8: You could argue parody if you're singing it.
- 1:51:28Speaker 3: At least they got in trouble on ESPN for singing
- 1:51:30Speaker 3: Happy Birthday?
- 1:51:32Speaker 8: How is that not in public domain?
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: Right?
- 1:51:36Speaker 3: That's that's the story, and I'm sticking to it.
- 1:51:38Speaker 7: You know, maybe it was you know, exaggerated to persuade
- 1:51:41Speaker 7: us from ever doing it.
- 1:51:42Speaker 8: But how is the happy Birthday song not in public domain?
- 1:51:46Speaker 8: Who wrote that?
- 1:51:49Speaker 5: They're definitely talking about you, Royalty?
- 1:51:55Speaker 3: Is that Matt Smith? This good stuff?
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: Is that?
- 1:51:57Speaker 5: No song?
- 1:51:58Speaker 3: No song, no socks? Enjoyed himself. He must have been
- 1:52:01Speaker 3: in his own did he have a beer with a
- 1:52:03Speaker 3: hole in it? He did not. No, No, that's enjoy it.
- 1:52:07Speaker 3: No he did not. It was Wednesday. That stuff to do.
- 1:52:10Speaker 5: No socks.
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: I mean.
- 1:52:13Speaker 4: Some way, Steven rally is a football question. If the
- 1:52:16Speaker 4: defense is in the top ten or twelve, how good
- 1:52:19Speaker 4: does the offense need to be to be relevant or
- 1:52:21Speaker 4: viable for playoff contention?
- 1:52:23Speaker 2: In what.
- 1:52:26Speaker 3: Top ten or twelve?
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: In what points allowed? So where? Like?
- 1:52:31Speaker 3: Where have they been in recent years?
- 1:52:32Speaker 5: They were in the twenties. Last year they were not good.
- 1:52:35Speaker 8: Yeah, the year before they were.
- 1:52:37Speaker 3: I don't I don't think any I don't know. I'm
- 1:52:39Speaker 3: making up points. The offense has to be good. I
- 1:52:41Speaker 3: don't think it really. I mean, I think the offense
- 1:52:43Speaker 3: needs to be good. There are I don't care how
- 1:52:45Speaker 3: good the defense is. If you can't score, you're not
- 1:52:46Speaker 3: gonna win a lot of games.
- 1:52:47Speaker 7: We talked about this last year where there's like there's
- 1:52:50Speaker 7: like it's not like great defenses that win championships. I mean,
- 1:52:53Speaker 7: like there's certainly defenses that peak at the right time,
- 1:52:57Speaker 7: but you just need to be able to say we
- 1:52:58Speaker 7: have a good enough team to win. To win the
- 1:53:00Speaker 7: Super Bowl, the offense has to be the driver to
- 1:53:03Speaker 7: get there.
- 1:53:03Speaker 2: And win the game.
- 1:53:04Speaker 3: You know, I think if you have a good offense,
- 1:53:06Speaker 3: you know, there's probably twenty eight teams that have a
- 1:53:08Speaker 3: good enough defense to win the Super Bowl if.
- 1:53:09Speaker 5: They were twenty first last year and twenty four and
- 1:53:12Speaker 5: a half points per game allowed, So better than that?
- 1:53:16Speaker 2: What about over just is there an overall defense.
- 1:53:19Speaker 5: Bout the yards? Technically? I hate that anymore.
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: We don't do that right Matthew and Arizona.
- 1:53:27Speaker 4: I remember buying Green Day Dookie on cassette tape and
- 1:53:29Speaker 4: strawberries in nineteen ninety four. Anyway, I feel like we
- 1:53:33Speaker 4: need a from Red to Blue mini series covering the
- 1:53:37Speaker 4: Patriots from nineteen sixty to nineteen ninety nine. There's a
- 1:53:40Speaker 4: lot of great history with the team not covered. You
- 1:53:43Speaker 4: get generations that need to know.
- 1:53:45Speaker 2: What came before, like the injury of Darryl Stingley, for example,
- 1:53:48Speaker 2: Jim Plunkett, Steve Grogan, et cetera.
- 1:53:50Speaker 5: I agree with that. I don't think that there's anything
- 1:53:53Speaker 5: out there, and I know their history isn't as decorated
- 1:53:56Speaker 5: as like the Celtics history or whatever terms of winning,
- 1:53:59Speaker 5: but I think there's a lot of really great players.
- 1:54:02Speaker 5: You know, John Hannas Stanley Morgan.
- 1:54:04Speaker 7: So I've been talking to I mean, that's kind of
- 1:54:06Speaker 7: why I want to do just a little something with
- 1:54:07Speaker 7: the eighty five team, because I've said it many times,
- 1:54:10Speaker 7: but going back and watching the team and like the
- 1:54:12Speaker 7: TV copy and listening to the announcers talk, and you
- 1:54:14Speaker 7: really experience the games, you know, as a fan, you
- 1:54:17Speaker 7: get to know the team in a way that you know,
- 1:54:19Speaker 7: you could have told me, oh, Raymond Claiborne, sure he played,
- 1:54:22Speaker 7: I know. Then I watched the games and like, this
- 1:54:23Speaker 7: guy was an outstanding cornerback. I mean they wouldn't even
- 1:54:26Speaker 7: throw at him, you know, those kind of things. I
- 1:54:28Speaker 7: totally agree with the email that there's a there were,
- 1:54:31Speaker 7: you know there with the seventy six team, what was
- 1:54:33Speaker 7: really good fell short in Oakland, within Oakland at that point.
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: I got the eighty five team the ninety six team.
- 1:54:41Speaker 7: Which I got refreshed a little bit reading about parcels
- 1:54:43Speaker 7: as well. You know, there were It wasn't a straight line,
- 1:54:47Speaker 7: but you can kind of connect some of the dots
- 1:54:49Speaker 7: to each decade and a real quick aside. I mean,
- 1:54:51Speaker 7: you guys, like eighties they went to a Super Bowl,
- 1:54:54Speaker 7: Nineties they went to a Super Bowl oughts they went
- 1:54:56Speaker 7: to a Super Bowl. Teams they went to a Super
- 1:54:58Speaker 7: Bowl were now twenty twenty five, Like this could be
- 1:55:00Speaker 7: the first time since the nineteen seventies that the Patriotic
- 1:55:03Speaker 7: Station deduced Super Bowl turning up the pressure on Mike Vrabel,
- 1:55:06Speaker 7: Mike your move.
- 1:55:07Speaker 2: You got five years.
- 1:55:08Speaker 5: But like I feel like now that we've were post
- 1:55:11Speaker 5: Brady and my generation has had a little bit of
- 1:55:15Speaker 5: taste of it not winning every single year, Like you
- 1:55:17Speaker 5: have a new appreciation for did some of those older
- 1:55:21Speaker 5: Patriots teams before Brady that like the nineties teams and
- 1:55:25Speaker 5: stuff like that, that were really good teams that now
- 1:55:28Speaker 5: if you told me that we were going to be
- 1:55:29Speaker 5: the ninety six Patriots, you would take that into heartbeat, right.
- 1:55:32Speaker 3: So the ninety six Patriots were a pretty good team. Yeah,
- 1:55:34Speaker 3: Like the eighty five team was okay, it was a
- 1:55:37Speaker 3: playoff caliber team. The ninety six team was a super
- 1:55:40Speaker 3: Bowl caliber team. They probably would have lost in Denver
- 1:55:44Speaker 3: had Denver not gotten upset by Jacksonville. Denver was better
- 1:55:47Speaker 3: than the Patriots that year, but they were super Bowl worthy.
- 1:55:53Speaker 3: They just weren't quite good enough that day against green Bay.
- 1:55:56Speaker 3: Green Bay was better and they kicked it. That's what
- 1:55:58Speaker 3: kind of happened.
- 1:55:58Speaker 7: So that's I mean watching there's so many parallelowing to
- 1:56:01Speaker 7: eighty plus you had touchdown from that eighty fister defense
- 1:56:04Speaker 7: to some of the bad Patriots teams. Just like I
- 1:56:06Speaker 7: said it before, where you just see recurring themes within football.
- 1:56:10Speaker 7: Even though the game is completely different than it was
- 1:56:12Speaker 7: in the eighties, you still understand it's about takeaways, it's
- 1:56:15Speaker 7: about capitalizing all mistakes. You know, it's being able to
- 1:56:18Speaker 7: run the ball at the end of the game. Those
- 1:56:19Speaker 7: kind of things like that. There are certain truths that
- 1:56:21Speaker 7: just you see continue to be true.
- 1:56:24Speaker 3: And that team, the ninety six team, you know, they
- 1:56:28Speaker 3: got really banged up in ninety seven. They would have
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: had a really good chance to get back and they
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: end up losing. You know, Curtis and Terry Glenn and
- 1:56:37Speaker 3: all those guys are out in the playoffs. It was
- 1:56:38Speaker 3: basically Drew and Sean Jefferson, I think. But yeah, you
- 1:56:45Speaker 3: know why it wasn't enough.
- 1:56:46Speaker 7: Mike Rabel right stripsacker drew seven to six Division around win.
- 1:56:53Speaker 4: David Manila has some music stories. He says, I used
- 1:56:57Speaker 4: to work at the stadium and other venues as a
- 1:57:00Speaker 4: concert stage hand before I left for the Philippines, and
- 1:57:03Speaker 4: that gave me the opportunity to hear all kinds of music.
- 1:57:05Speaker 4: I grew up with the Beatles, CSNN, Why Aretha before
- 1:57:08Speaker 4: moving on to Aerosmith led Zeppelin, but I've always appreciated
- 1:57:12Speaker 4: hearing new music. I remember working the Madonna show at
- 1:57:15Speaker 4: Foxboro Stadium and how bad she smelled after the sound check.
- 1:57:19Speaker 4: I remember the inflatable pig getting stuck on the cable
- 1:57:21Speaker 4: in the middle of the show.
- 1:57:23Speaker 2: One time, I took my new bride.
- 1:57:24Speaker 4: Our thirty third anniversaries today just Congratulations to see Elton
- 1:57:28Speaker 4: John and Billy Joel and we got to see one
- 1:57:30Speaker 4: of my coworkers fall out of the lighting trust onto
- 1:57:33Speaker 4: the drum riser.
- 1:57:36Speaker 2: Before the show started. She recovered. Thank God.
- 1:57:38Speaker 4: My wife looked at me and said, do you ever
- 1:57:40Speaker 4: do that, to which I said yes, but without the
- 1:57:42Speaker 4: falling part. The next night, I was on duty at
- 1:57:45Speaker 4: Great Woods and the stage manager had me climb up
- 1:57:48Speaker 4: to the trusk to run the spotlight for Peter Gabriel
- 1:57:51Speaker 4: A right times.
- 1:57:52Speaker 3: My wife loves Peter Gabriel.
- 1:57:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:57:54Speaker 7: I think Andy was at that Elton John Billy Joel
- 1:57:57Speaker 7: one that was your nineties.
- 1:58:00Speaker 3: I don't remember think so.
- 1:58:01Speaker 2: Uh Boston Cream. One more question for all of us.
- 1:58:05Speaker 2: If you could play any professional sport for your career,
- 1:58:08Speaker 2: which sport would you pick? And why? Basketball, Golf, hockey, hockey.
- 1:58:14Speaker 3: Yeah, probably baseball.
- 1:58:17Speaker 5: Baseball is probably the best money.
- 1:58:18Speaker 3: Pay damage to the body.
- 1:58:21Speaker 5: Yeah, that's why I like basketball kind of friends, and
- 1:58:25Speaker 5: that's I understand why you would pay.
- 1:58:26Speaker 3: Basketball is probably the best pay.
- 1:58:28Speaker 5: Yeah, Basketball is probably the best combination of pay.
- 1:58:31Speaker 4: I would I would take tennis, pay celebrity, really hard
- 1:58:36Speaker 4: golf too.
- 1:58:37Speaker 8: As a golf I would want to be a guy.
- 1:58:40Speaker 2: Like the idea, Like.
- 1:58:42Speaker 4: Obviously for any of our answers were really good at it, right,
- 1:58:46Speaker 4: we're not one of the benchwarmers.
- 1:58:49Speaker 5: Like if I'm like.
- 1:58:50Speaker 4: Top tennis, Like you're traveling all over the world to
- 1:58:54Speaker 4: these great locations, just staying in four or five star
- 1:58:57Speaker 4: hotels and you're playing tennis, Like what could be better?
- 1:59:01Speaker 3: But it changes quick if you're like the seventieth rank guys,
- 1:59:04Speaker 3: Well that's what I.
- 1:59:04Speaker 2: Say, Like in any of our answers were really good.
- 1:59:07Speaker 3: Yeah, so if but if you're really good and like
- 1:59:09Speaker 3: when you want to be a quarterback or a football team,
- 1:59:11Speaker 3: better than I would like to be.
- 1:59:13Speaker 8: Kind of incognito though, Like I'd like to still go
- 1:59:17Speaker 8: out and like live my life.
- 1:59:18Speaker 5: That's the problem with basketball players, Like you're like.
- 1:59:21Speaker 2: When you quarterback, you could play the senior Tour and golf.
- 1:59:24Speaker 2: For tennis, you can play the rest of your life.
- 1:59:26Speaker 3: So I totally get the perks of golf and tennis.
- 1:59:29Speaker 3: I don't know about the individual sport though. Yeah, it's
- 1:59:31Speaker 3: really hard to get up.
- 1:59:32Speaker 8: To that caddy on your team.
- 1:59:34Speaker 3: I think I think I enjoyed like sort of the that.
- 1:59:39Speaker 7: Team, the camaraderie, the team team building, like the locker room.
- 1:59:43Speaker 2: I would miss that hard on you, Like what was
- 1:59:46Speaker 2: going on in the locker room.
- 1:59:48Speaker 3: You don't you worry about it?
- 1:59:50Speaker 2: So no, it's a good question.
- 1:59:52Speaker 3: It's a great question. Yeah, all right.
