- 0:00Dave Hamilton: Business Brain, episode 763 for Casual Friday, June 19th, that's Juneteenth,
- 0:07Dave Hamilton: of course, and National Martini Day, 2026.
- 0:12Dave Hamilton: Oh, I hit the wrong button. Hang on. Let me fix that. Let's just get rid of that. There we go.
- 0:17Dave Hamilton: Should we start the episode over? No, we're good. We'll get it right. No way, man.
- 0:21Shannon Jean: Mistakes. We're building in public.
- 0:23Dave Hamilton: That's right. We are building in public. That's good. Yeah. National Martini Day, Juneteenth.
- 0:28Shannon Jean: That's awesome. You know, I live near a town called Martinez where the martini was invented.
- 0:33Dave Hamilton: No kidding. Absolutely. I didn't realize where the name came from.
- 0:37Shannon Jean: Yeah. Okay. It's only about 20 minutes from me. It's on the water.
- 0:43Shannon Jean: And yeah, that's where the martini... Yeah. Yeah. It's pretty crazy. Who knew?
- 0:47Dave Hamilton: I mean, you do. You knew.
- 0:48Shannon Jean: It turns out. It's one of my fun facts, fun facts.
- 0:51Dave Hamilton: I like that. Greetings and welcome to Business Brain, the show where we take
- 0:55Dave Hamilton: some ideas, some from you, some from us.
- 0:57Dave Hamilton: We use them to tune our business brain so that we can each keep on living our charmed lives.
- 1:04Dave Hamilton: Our sponsors for this episode include oneskin.co slash brain,
- 1:09Dave Hamilton: where you can go and get 15% off of oneskin with code brain.
- 1:13Dave Hamilton: We'll talk about that in a little bit. And also save 30% on Bitdefender Ultimate
- 1:19Dave Hamilton: Small Business Security when you go to bitdefender.com slash brain.
- 1:23Dave Hamilton: We'll talk about that in a little bit, too.
- 1:25Dave Hamilton: For now, here in Durham, New Hampshire, I'm Dave Hamilton.
- 1:29Shannon Jean: And I'm Shannon Jean. I'm still in Northern California.
- 1:31Dave Hamilton: Yeah, man.
- 1:32Shannon Jean: Happy to be here on Happy Friday.
- 1:33Dave Hamilton: Happy Friday. Happy Friday, AI. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 1:38Shannon Jean: Hey, you know, I don't know if we're, last week, well, we're recording this
- 1:43Shannon Jean: on Monday, but a couple of days ago, so Anthropoc came out with a new model,
- 1:48Shannon Jean: a new LLM model called Fable 5.
- 1:52Shannon Jean: I don't know, you know, 1 through 4, we didn't get to see. Well.
- 1:54Shannon Jean: But it was based on their.
- 1:56Dave Hamilton: No, we did get to see it because Opus is 4.
- 1:59Shannon Jean: Oh, I see.
- 1:59Dave Hamilton: Fable 5. Got it. That makes sense.
- 2:01Shannon Jean: Well, and it's. Maybe. I could be, right?
- 2:03Dave Hamilton: And it's not, Fable isn't the model. The model is mythos.
- 2:06Shannon Jean: No, it's mythos. Mythos. but fable is the mythos with guardrails. Am I right?
- 2:10Dave Hamilton: Fable is the guardrails that sit between you and me and mythos or sat.
- 2:16Dave Hamilton: I don't know what's going to happen by the time this episode comes out. So yeah.
- 2:18Shannon Jean: Yeah, we'll see. We're moving quick, but it didn't, it wasn't on the market
- 2:22Shannon Jean: long before, I guess there was some kind of exploit or something that removed
- 2:28Shannon Jean: some of those guardrails. And so there were some steps.
- 2:33Shannon Jean: I don't know all the details of it, but between the government and Anthropic.
- 2:37Shannon Jean: And so they took it off. And now there's a note everywhere that says you can't use Fable.
- 2:41Dave Hamilton: Yeah, well, it's just turned off. That's right.
- 2:44Shannon Jean: Yeah, gone. And you made a comment earlier about hitting some limits and some things.
- 2:49Dave Hamilton: I ran into it. Yeah. So the mythos, the model mythos has been discussed for a while.
- 2:57Dave Hamilton: And anthropic had chosen not to release it to the wild initially uh because
- 3:04Dave Hamilton: they wanted to give other companies like some of the bigger tech companies and
- 3:08Dave Hamilton: and i believe even the the government the chance to use it.
- 3:12Shannon Jean: Uh correct to that's what i
- 3:13Dave Hamilton: Understand yeah to to to like poke at their own holes in their own security the issue with mythos,
- 3:22Dave Hamilton: uh and fable again is just the guardrails in front of it the issue is its strength
- 3:27Dave Hamilton: it is relentless Shannon I had.
- 3:31Dave Hamilton: The example,
- 3:33Dave Hamilton: that I'm happy to share is I, cause I wasn't, I did hit the cybersecurity guard
- 3:38Dave Hamilton: rails, but I was not trying. Like I was, I was just doing my thing.
- 3:42Dave Hamilton: And I had, we have an internal engine here at Backbeat and I wanted to populate
- 3:48Dave Hamilton: it with some, some data from a third party source.
- 3:51Dave Hamilton: And we have a, an account with this third party source and I know they have
- 3:54Dave Hamilton: an API. And so I thought, okay, great. I'm just going to like essentially using
- 3:58Dave Hamilton: cloud code. In fact, it wasn't essentially, It was literally using cloud code.
- 4:02Dave Hamilton: I said, hey, I want you to, you know, we're going to, we're together,
- 4:06Dave Hamilton: we're going to figure this out and we're going to use their API.
- 4:08Dave Hamilton: I was like, okay, great. Go get an API key from them. I'm like,
- 4:10Dave Hamilton: yeah, I already got that.
- 4:11Dave Hamilton: And it said, great. Before I spec out, I was going to use Fable to spec out.
- 4:16Dave Hamilton: Actually, I did use Fable to spec out things. And then I was going to use Sonnet
- 4:19Dave Hamilton: to build because I've learned that you don't need to use the highest model for everything.
- 4:23Dave Hamilton: That was my experiment with my $20 a month plan. I'm now back to the $100 a
- 4:27Dave Hamilton: month plan because I couldn't look like that.
- 4:29Dave Hamilton: But um but you can live like that it's you know if you if you use the right
- 4:33Dave Hamilton: models for things and so yeah i had it building this thing and it's like great
- 4:37Dave Hamilton: before i build the spec for this i want to make sure that we can get the data that we think we can get
- 4:44Dave Hamilton: it had ingested the documentation for the api but it it was like you know give
- 4:49Dave Hamilton: me the key and and we'll we'll do this and so great fine you know i put the
- 4:51Dave Hamilton: key and where you're supposed to and like you know securely and all that stuff and it wrote some script,
- 4:56Dave Hamilton: it came back and it said uh most of the endpoints work, but the main one that we want.
- 5:01Dave Hamilton: Like it keeps erroring out it says you don't have access to that you need to like,
- 5:05Dave Hamilton: email them and tell them to turn it on oh i have very quick support with this
- 5:09Dave Hamilton: particular company and okay like literally within minutes had someone that was
- 5:14Dave Hamilton: looking into it for me and said
- 5:16Dave Hamilton: oh yeah that's part of our 1500 a month plan oh you don't like you can have
- 5:22Dave Hamilton: that you don't have that right now and so i told,
- 5:26Dave Hamilton: like you know i i just gave that response back to the to fable and it was like
- 5:30Dave Hamilton: oh yeah that's a non-starter uh it was like but you can get this data off of their website right and.
- 5:35Dave Hamilton: I was like yep and it was like great log into that website in chrome and then
- 5:39Dave Hamilton: give me access i want to take a look at some things and it kept going and like
- 5:43Dave Hamilton: 20 maybe 30 minutes later it came back and it's like great news there's actually
- 5:47Dave Hamilton: a private api that this company has,
- 5:50Dave Hamilton: that is used to populate the website when you visit then it's like so i've just
- 5:56Dave Hamilton: spec'd out the entire model using that uh you'll need to make sure that you uh,
- 6:02Dave Hamilton: you know you you refresh the key every now and then because it's not like a
- 6:05Dave Hamilton: straight api key it's your login token you know and it's like it's going to
- 6:08Dave Hamilton: be a little weird and and then it said
- 6:10Dave Hamilton: um it asked two questions one was some sort of procedural question the other
- 6:14Dave Hamilton: was you got to make sure you're comfortable doing this it might or might not
- 6:18Dave Hamilton: go against their terms of service it's like i didn't research that,
- 6:21Dave Hamilton: and i was like oh my gosh like this model is crazy and immediately after that prompt it was like
- 6:28Dave Hamilton: this model has run into cyber security you know issues i'm dumbing down to opus
- 6:32Dave Hamilton: or whatever which really is a dumb model but it is relentless at stuff so i can see
- 6:38Dave Hamilton: if you pointed it at something that was actually you know really mattered it
- 6:43Dave Hamilton: would get the job done and that's yeah that's the concern.
- 6:46Shannon Jean: That's right. It totally makes sense. And I get that part of it.
- 6:49Shannon Jean: And I get the, I guess it's, if I use a similar or like an analogy of like search.
- 6:58Shannon Jean: Yeah. Because you know that if you search in Google, they don't show you everything.
- 7:04Shannon Jean: Number one, you see all that paid stuff they show first.
- 7:06Dave Hamilton: Sure.
- 7:07Shannon Jean: But even like if they've made a decision that, oh, certain sites are bad actors
- 7:13Shannon Jean: or certain sites or whatever, we're not going to show those results.
- 7:16Shannon Jean: So it's by omission, right? And they're
- 7:22Shannon Jean: controlling data, which is their prerogative. It's their site. It's free.
- 7:28Shannon Jean: You're, you know, whatever they're going to show. And there's alternative. You can go use, right?
- 7:35Shannon Jean: Other search, right? You could use whatever, DuckTuckGo.
- 7:38Shannon Jean: You can use Bing. You can use, you know, on and on and on. Different search. But in AI...
- 7:48Shannon Jean: Like, who decides what it will show, how much it will let you do?
- 7:54Shannon Jean: And I listened to an interesting argument about, because one of the things,
- 7:59Shannon Jean: I did not know this until I read this article, about Anthropic is they are heavily
- 8:03Shannon Jean: pushing for government control of AI. Heavily.
- 8:09Dave Hamilton: There is an argument and it would be an argument we're not going to have it
- 8:12Dave Hamilton: right now but there's an argument to be said that the anthropic of the of the
- 8:16Dave Hamilton: major ai players the anthropic are the good guys like it in a sense like they're
- 8:21Dave Hamilton: they're trying to be responsible and always however.
- 8:24Shannon Jean: Yes yeah but there's also the argument that again we're not having this argument
- 8:28Shannon Jean: but there is a uh a comment that the reason they want that government control is to block out other
- 8:36Dave Hamilton: Players To gatekeep, of course.
- 8:37Shannon Jean: To gatekeep, especially open source. Right. Which is definitely going to be something.
- 8:43Dave Hamilton: Deep seek and things like that.
- 8:44Shannon Jean: Yes, all the open source ones. And it was just an interesting way.
- 8:48Shannon Jean: I hadn't thought about it this way before until I read this article and listened
- 8:53Shannon Jean: to this discussion about
- 8:58Shannon Jean: who controls the data and where do you get to go? And I also think it's an argument it for
- 9:07Shannon Jean: different kind of AI that lives, you know, more things that live locally,
- 9:12Shannon Jean: like OpenClaw or other things like that, or things that Apple are,
- 9:16Shannon Jean: I think, working on that give you more control of your personal,
- 9:20Shannon Jean: you know, AI and things like that.
- 9:21Shannon Jean: And that the models that are out there now, the way it works,
- 9:25Shannon Jean: the open, because I guess
- 9:27Shannon Jean: in Fable, you have to, I don't know if you had to agree to additional terms
- 9:31Shannon Jean: and conditions, but they keep your searches, your prompts and everything for
- 9:35Shannon Jean: 30 days to be able to look back and
- 9:39Shannon Jean: check, I guess, on this kind of thing. So it's kind of interesting.
- 9:42Dave Hamilton: Yeah, yeah. I mean, they're doing it to make sure that their guardrails are
- 9:47Dave Hamilton: acting the way they intend them to, right?
- 9:50Dave Hamilton: Because you can't know what they don't know. Yeah.
- 9:53Shannon Jean: Yeah, so it's just interesting. It just got me thinking about,
- 9:56Shannon Jean: okay, how is this going to shake out? I'm not sure Anthropic are the good guys.
- 10:03Shannon Jean: I don't know enough about them.
- 10:04Shannon Jean: I think some of their founders, some of the stuff I read, I heard it referred
- 10:09Shannon Jean: to as they feel like they're midwifing a god by building this out.
- 10:15Dave Hamilton: Yeah, there's a— You know.
- 10:16Shannon Jean: I thought that was kind of interesting.
- 10:18Dave Hamilton: From what I understand, they are a very private company in these ways. Yeah. I see.
- 10:27Shannon Jean: Yeah. So it's just an interesting discussion about what you,
- 10:30Shannon Jean: number one, how much of your data do you give it when it can keep it for a while
- 10:35Shannon Jean: and what happens to it, right?
- 10:36Shannon Jean: And thinking about that. And we're going to talk more about kind of private
- 10:40Shannon Jean: and localized AI for your business so you don't have to give up,
- 10:45Shannon Jean: you know, stuff that you're not comfortable with, but you could still use the
- 10:48Shannon Jean: power of it to help you run your business.
- 10:50Shannon Jean: I think that's a really interesting angle that I think Apple will...
- 10:54Shannon Jean: Lean into a lot you know
- 10:55Dave Hamilton: Yeah i don't know that apple is leaning into it on the business side i like
- 10:59Dave Hamilton: i think that's true for the personal side they are yeah.
- 11:02Shannon Jean: Yeah so this is kind of interesting
- 11:04Dave Hamilton: Where my comment about anthropic being the good guy and there's a whole history
- 11:07Dave Hamilton: fascinating history where every ai company that exists is really the byproduct
- 11:13Dave Hamilton: of a previous one it started with google
- 11:16Dave Hamilton: then open ai and then anthropic right where
- 11:19Dave Hamilton: each of them started because they didn't trust the people that were running
- 11:22Dave Hamilton: the last one you're exactly right yeah and anthropic actually had claude ready
- 11:26Dave Hamilton: before open ai had chat gpt ready
- 11:30Dave Hamilton: and decided to wait because they didn't want to unleash this thing on the world
- 11:34Dave Hamilton: without more guardrails i see and then yeah and then open ai said here's chat
- 11:39Dave Hamilton: gpt and so it was about six months later that,
- 11:42Dave Hamilton: anthropic finally put claude out the claude was ready first which is which is kind of
- 11:46Dave Hamilton: mind-blowing when you when you realize so that's kind of where that mindset
- 11:50Dave Hamilton: like they they are trying to do no harm yeah i would at some level yeah that's
- 11:57Dave Hamilton: some i'm not gonna give them too much credit here but no no.
- 12:00Shannon Jean: No it's kind of like the yeah it's kind of it's kind of weird but i mean the
- 12:03Shannon Jean: thing that claude nailed was you know focusing on programming first and other stuff it just
- 12:10Dave Hamilton: Became they had to uh you know they had to because OpenAI had won the chatbot,
- 12:15Dave Hamilton: thing. So they had to pivot, well, not pivot, but specialize.
- 12:19Shannon Jean: Come and do something different.
- 12:21Dave Hamilton: And then via that specialization have sort of now gone a little broader.
- 12:26Shannon Jean: But yeah, it's interesting. Let us know what you think. Feedback at businessbrain.show.
- 12:30Shannon Jean: Tell us your thoughts on this.
- 12:32Shannon Jean: It's the AI that we're talking about right now.
- 12:34Dave Hamilton: Yeah, for sure. We have more about AI to talk about here, and we will do that.
- 12:40Dave Hamilton: First, we want to tell you about our sponsors. And there's a scam hitting small
- 12:46Dave Hamilton: businesses right now that I want to talk about a little.
- 12:48Dave Hamilton: The idea is that somebody emails one of your team members, right?
- 12:51Dave Hamilton: And they used your tone, right? It seems like the email comes from you.
- 12:56Dave Hamilton: It says there's an urgent wire transfer and also says, hey, look,
- 12:59Dave Hamilton: you know, keep this quiet until it's done.
- 13:02Dave Hamilton: That's AI email cloning, right? And it's being used to drain small business
- 13:07Dave Hamilton: bank accounts right now. And if this sounds like science fiction,
- 13:11Dave Hamilton: well, I promise you it isn't. And I think we all know that it's not.
- 13:15Dave Hamilton: Building the charmed life of an entrepreneur means protecting every piece of it.
- 13:20Dave Hamilton: Your client data, your team, your reputation, right? Your accounts.
- 13:24Dave Hamilton: And that's why our sponsor Bitdefender is worth your attention.
- 13:28Dave Hamilton: Bitdefender is a global leader in cybersecurity and their ultimate small business
- 13:32Dave Hamilton: security is purpose-built for businesses with 25 or fewer employees who don't
- 13:37Dave Hamilton: have a dedicated IT department.
- 13:39Dave Hamilton: You get AI-powered scam protection trained specifically on small business attack
- 13:44Dave Hamilton: patterns, the kind that catch phishing attempts, right?
- 13:47Dave Hamilton: Fake messages and malicious links before anyone on your team ever sees them.
- 13:52Dave Hamilton: Add in dark web monitoring to flag if your data shows up somewhere it shouldn't,
- 13:57Dave Hamilton: password management, unlimited VPN for your remote folks, right?
- 14:01Dave Hamilton: And one clean, easy dashboard to run it all.
- 14:05Dave Hamilton: It's outstanding. You got to check this out. Keep your small business safe with
- 14:09Dave Hamilton: Bitdefender Ultimate Small Business Security and save 30% when you go to bitdefender.com slash brain.
- 14:16Dave Hamilton: That's bitdefender.com slash brain for 30% off. Check it out.
- 14:21Dave Hamilton: I think you're going to really like it. And our thanks to Bitdefender for sponsoring this episode.
- 14:26Dave Hamilton: And we entrepreneurs are pretty good at optimizing everything except ourselves, right?
- 14:31Dave Hamilton: We'll spend hours finding just the right tool, the right system,
- 14:35Dave Hamilton: the right process, and then slap the same drugstore moisturizer on our face
- 14:40Dave Hamilton: that we've been using since college, right? That's not the charmed life.
- 14:43Dave Hamilton: That's just inertia. It happens. Well, we can make some changes.
- 14:46Dave Hamilton: I've been using our sponsor OneSkin's face and eye for a couple of months now, as I've mentioned.
- 14:50Dave Hamilton: And what changed my mind is that it's not just another skincare care product,
- 14:55Dave Hamilton: right? Most skin care sits on the surface.
- 14:57Dave Hamilton: One skin's OS1 peptide actually goes after the root cause.
- 15:02Dave Hamilton: As we age, skin cells stop functioning the way that they used to,
- 15:06Dave Hamilton: right? The scientists call them zombie cells.
- 15:09Dave Hamilton: And that's what's driving the fine lines, the loss of firmness, the dullness.
- 15:13Dave Hamilton: OS1 was specifically engineered to address those cells directly.
- 15:18Dave Hamilton: I even used AI to compare photos taken like six weeks apart,
- 15:21Dave Hamilton: right? Smoother forehead, it found more even texture, firmer under my eyes.
- 15:26Dave Hamilton: I have spreadsheets with less compelling data than that, right?
- 15:30Dave Hamilton: Just last week, I used OneSkin's face SPF while I was in Los Angeles, and it too is fantastic.
- 15:36Dave Hamilton: No greasy feeling, no residue, and you're getting that OS1 protection and mineral SPF in one shot.
- 15:45Dave Hamilton: That's protecting against future damage while reversing past summers.
- 15:49Dave Hamilton: Backed by four peer-reviewed clinical studies and over 10,000 five-star reviews.
- 15:55Dave Hamilton: Born from over a decade of longevity research, OneSkin's OS1 peptide is proven
- 16:00Dave Hamilton: to target the visible signs of aging, helping you unlock your healthiest skin now and as you age.
- 16:07Dave Hamilton: For a limited time, try OneSkin with 15% off using code BRAIN at oneskin.co slash BRAIN.
- 16:16Dave Hamilton: That's 15% off oneskin.co with code BRAIN.
- 16:22Dave Hamilton: After you purchase, they'll ask you where you heard about them.
- 16:25Dave Hamilton: Please mention the show so you can support the show and tell them we sent you.
- 16:30Dave Hamilton: Go check it out, oneskin.co slash brain. I think you're going to like it at least as much as I do.
- 16:34Dave Hamilton: And our thanks to Oneskin for sponsoring this episode.
- 16:39Dave Hamilton: We got an email. We mentioned either last week or the week before.
- 16:42Dave Hamilton: I can't remember, Shannon, because we packed them all together before I traveled.
- 16:46Dave Hamilton: We were talking about data centers and location of data centers.
- 16:50Dave Hamilton: And I speculated or mused.
- 16:52Dave Hamilton: Speculation was the wrong thing. I threw out what I thought was a crazy idea
- 16:56Dave Hamilton: of like, why don't put them underwater?
- 16:57Dave Hamilton: Listener David wrote into feedback at businessbrain.show and said,
- 17:02Dave Hamilton: hey, guys, you were just talking about the possibility of putting data centers underwater.
- 17:06Dave Hamilton: It seems like you aren't the only ones thinking about this. And he sent us a
- 17:09Dave Hamilton: link to a Gizmodo article about how China has just turned on the world's first
- 17:14Dave Hamilton: underwater data center. So there you go. Smart.
- 17:17Shannon Jean: Yeah, that makes total sense. It does, man.
- 17:20Dave Hamilton: It does, yeah.
- 17:21Shannon Jean: Keep it cool.
- 17:22Dave Hamilton: Keep it cool. That's awesome. Yeah, I mean, you gotta get powered in and out
- 17:25Dave Hamilton: of there and all that stuff, but sure. I mean, you know, figure it out. Yes.
- 17:29Shannon Jean: Hey, let's talk about real quick this term MCP modal, is it model context protocol?
- 17:37Dave Hamilton: Model context protocol.
- 17:38Shannon Jean: Model context protocol.
- 17:41Shannon Jean: So I'm learning more about this. Instead of having to have an API or have some
- 17:47Shannon Jean: other weird kind of connection,
- 17:50Shannon Jean: some of the services that I use, one of them for my reseller mastermind community,
- 17:55Shannon Jean: I got an email and says, hey, we have this new MCP.
- 17:58Shannon Jean: All you need is this link. You can share that in your connections.
- 18:02Shannon Jean: I use Claude. There's a connection setting.
- 18:05Shannon Jean: Go in there. Paste that URL. Log in. And kind of like sometimes when you give
- 18:09Shannon Jean: access to your bank account, if you're connecting like Venmo or whatever,
- 18:13Shannon Jean: there's an intermediary that kind of logs in. And in this case,
- 18:17Shannon Jean: I actually think it just logged in directly.
- 18:19Shannon Jean: And it gave my AI access to all the analytics, all the backend data of my community,
- 18:28Shannon Jean: which is super helpful. And I love it.
- 18:31Dave Hamilton: Yeah. Yeah, and so that the point isn't lost, the beauty of the model context
- 18:37Dave Hamilton: protocol is that it is platform agnostic,
- 18:43Dave Hamilton: which is a fancy way of saying it will work with all of the AIs out there.
- 18:48Dave Hamilton: You pick your favorite. It is a protocol that is a standard,
- 18:53Dave Hamilton: and it's an open standard. So,
- 18:57Dave Hamilton: your service could work with ChatGPT. I mean, you chose Claude,
- 19:01Dave Hamilton: but you didn't have to. You're not locked into that.
- 19:04Dave Hamilton: And that's the power here. Yeah, well, one of the powerful things.
- 19:08Dave Hamilton: The other powerful thing is no longer do you have to,
- 19:11Dave Hamilton: Like send it screenshots or let it log in with your browser,
- 19:15Dave Hamilton: which is like, if you want to find a good way to burn tokens really fast,
- 19:20Dave Hamilton: have your AI control your browser. I know when it all.
- 19:23Shannon Jean: But it's awesome. It's awesome.
- 19:26Dave Hamilton: But this is a way more efficient way of doing it because they just get to talk
- 19:29Dave Hamilton: directly to each other, just like an API would. And so there's no misinterpretations
- 19:34Dave Hamilton: and it's as efficient as it could possibly be. Yeah.
- 19:38Shannon Jean: Yeah. It's like, it's a game changer for me.
- 19:41Shannon Jean: I connected it to my newsletter platform and talking back and forth and like
- 19:46Shannon Jean: reviewing the analytics and changes over the last six months and what to do in this case.
- 19:52Shannon Jean: And I could just go back and forth and ask questions. And then it will actually
- 19:56Shannon Jean: help me implement the changes.
- 19:58Shannon Jean: So it had certain permissions and it would come up and I would get prompted.
- 20:03Shannon Jean: It's like, well, it would, of course, it'd say open it in Chrome and I can take
- 20:07Shannon Jean: control of the site and I can create this template for you and we can do this, this, this.
- 20:12Shannon Jean: Super helpful for me, man. That's great. That's amazing.
- 20:14Dave Hamilton: Yeah, I actually had it on the list today to talk about. The title of my note
- 20:19Dave Hamilton: was Claude Cowork is quickly becoming my primary email agent.
- 20:24Dave Hamilton: And it's all about MCPs because I use Fastmail for my email.
- 20:30Dave Hamilton: Okay. And Fastmail recently, a month or two ago, maybe more,
- 20:35Dave Hamilton: released their own first party MCP. Other people had kind of built layers of
- 20:40Dave Hamilton: MCPs that were unofficial. They released their own.
- 20:43Dave Hamilton: And, you know, I can say, like, you know, the screenshot that I put in the thing
- 20:48Dave Hamilton: for the example is I just wrote, hey,
- 20:51Dave Hamilton: to Claude Cowork, I said, take a look at my Fastmail inbox and summarize the
- 20:54Dave Hamilton: top 10 most important things that you find my attention would be best spent looking at next.
- 21:00Dave Hamilton: Oh, yeah. Nice. Yeah.
- 21:03Dave Hamilton: Yeah. It did. It was like, you've got to do this, Dave. Like,
- 21:06Dave Hamilton: there's money waiting, essentially. Yeah, that's awesome. Yeah.
- 21:09Dave Hamilton: I love it. And it looked through 800 emails to, to like figure that out.
- 21:13Dave Hamilton: And then was like, all right, yeah, you're good to go.
- 21:15Dave Hamilton: So, and then I could choose to have it. I, you know, I, I, I don't,
- 21:19Dave Hamilton: it doesn't have permission to
- 21:20Dave Hamilton: send anything, uh, but it has permission to create and save draft. Yeah.
- 21:25Shannon Jean: Yeah. That's it. I love that too. Yeah. I think that's great.
- 21:27Shannon Jean: And then you just go in your draft folder and there's a bunch of stuff waiting for you already.
- 21:31Dave Hamilton: It's waiting if I, yeah, exactly. Yep. Yeah. That's great. I love it. So yeah, I, um, yeah.
- 21:37Dave Hamilton: It is. It's a fascinating thing. Hey, Shannon, we've gotten out of our habit here.
- 21:42Dave Hamilton: We need to talk about this episode's big takeaway, my friend. So,
- 21:49Dave Hamilton: we talked about,
- 21:52Dave Hamilton: generally AI censorship. I don't know that there was anything there.
- 21:57Shannon Jean: I don't know.
- 21:58Dave Hamilton: Then we've got MCPs. That's what we talked about.
- 22:00Shannon Jean: I think the MCP is the big takeaway because if you haven't used it,
- 22:04Shannon Jean: it's so easy to implement.
- 22:06Shannon Jean: You don't need a secret token like API and all this kind of stuff.
- 22:11Shannon Jean: And like Dave said, it's platform agnostic. It goes anywhere,
- 22:15Shannon Jean: any AI you want to use it for. I think that's my vote for the big takeaway.
- 22:19Dave Hamilton: I agree. Yeah. They're easy to implement and you can connect your AI to probably
- 22:25Dave Hamilton: more things than you realize. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 22:29Shannon Jean: That's one of the things you could do is ask your AI, does this service have
- 22:34Shannon Jean: an MCP that I could connect to?
- 22:37Dave Hamilton: Here's all the services that I use. Do I have... Talk to me here.
- 22:44Shannon Jean: What am I missing? What am I missing here?
- 22:45Dave Hamilton: Why don't I build an MCP? When I say why don't I build, why don't I work with Claude Code to build?
- 22:55Dave Hamilton: It goes without saying. A locator. No, why don't I build an MCP,
- 22:59Dave Hamilton: for our internal podcast manager thing so if our hosts want to use mcp yeah
- 23:05Dave Hamilton: to like if they want to use their ai to control their lives why wouldn't they
- 23:09Dave Hamilton: why wouldn't of course i want to make that easy for you yeah oh yeah that's great.
- 23:13Shannon Jean: I love it
- 23:14Dave Hamilton: I love it.
- 23:14Shannon Jean: Huh that's interesting
- 23:16Dave Hamilton: Huh oh yeah that's going on the list all right this is great nice thanks for
- 23:19Dave Hamilton: hanging out everybody fun stuff feedback at businessbrain.show uh make sure
