- 0:01Speaker 1: Wave.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. A wave
- 0:12Speaker 2: original presented by FanDuel predicts. My name is Beaumont E.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Jones.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Thanks for listening wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for
- 0:18Speaker 2: watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like, rate us, review us,
- 0:22Speaker 2: give us five stars. You only give us four stars.
- 0:25Speaker 2: I'm inclined to believe you are a hater. In a minute,
- 0:29Speaker 2: we're going to talk about why the Thunder is really
- 0:32Speaker 2: just some devils. You know what I'm saying? We're going
- 0:35Speaker 2: to talk about Jackson Dart. There's a lot of blue
- 0:38Speaker 2: in the show that's coming up here. Even the Congressional
- 0:42Speaker 2: Black Caucus, they're a different kind of blue than Jackson Dart.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Very opposite. But anyway, how about those New York Knicks?
- 0:52Speaker 2: Let me tell you something. And we talked about this
- 0:55Speaker 2: a couple of days ago on the show where I've
- 0:56Speaker 2: raised the question. How long would it take before people
- 1:01Speaker 2: jumped off the Knicks?
- 1:03Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:03Speaker 2: And I mean, and when I say people, I really
- 1:06Speaker 2: I don't know if I'm a Knicks fan. I'll be honest.
- 1:08Speaker 2: I know what the hell I mean. I mean, I
- 1:09Speaker 2: know what I mean.
- 1:09Speaker 4: I didn't.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Okay, this is what I'm saying, all right? Hear me out,
- 1:12Speaker 2: hear me out. And I think you'll get where I
- 1:14Speaker 2: was coming from, which is they had just been so
- 1:16Speaker 2: dominant in just running through people that if they lost
- 1:19Speaker 2: a game by, call it seven points, would people be like, oh, okay, well,
- 1:22Speaker 2: now that was fun. That was over. The example I've
- 1:25Speaker 2: made all the time, I watched the San Antonio Spurs
- 1:28Speaker 2: in 2012 win 20 games in a row and then
- 1:30Speaker 2: they lost four in a row and it was over, right?
- 1:32Speaker 2: So my question simply was, at what point, when would
- 1:36Speaker 2: it be that people would just be like, oh, okay,
- 1:39Speaker 2: that was cool. Well, clearly that shit's not going to
- 1:42Speaker 2: happen because they in the finals now. The NBA finals,
- 1:47Speaker 2: the ones at the end of the year. Yeah, they
- 1:51Speaker 2: in that. And they didn't just like tiptoe into it.
- 1:56Speaker 2: They haven't lost a game in a month. And the
- 2:01Speaker 2: only close game they had was kind of close, except
- 2:05Speaker 2: they walked Cleveland down so bad that. Okay, try to think.
- 2:15Speaker 2: When J.R. Smith went the wrong way with the ball,
- 2:19Speaker 2: Because remember, the Cavs were about to be up and
- 2:21Speaker 2: had a great chance to be up 1-0 on the Warriors.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Then J.R. got the rebound and went the wrong way
- 2:27Speaker 2: for what remains maybe the funniest thing I've ever seen
- 2:32Speaker 2: in my life. I feel so bad for LeBron, but
- 2:35Speaker 2: not bad enough not to be laughing at him. Ryan,
- 2:38Speaker 2: you remember that? When he was going like that? When
- 2:40Speaker 2: he had the hands out?
- 2:41Speaker 3: He was so mad.
- 2:42Speaker 2: It broke his brain he just 100 could not believe
- 2:46Speaker 2: that shit happened right neither could we but i've never
- 2:49Speaker 2: seen a situation take a guy on the floor like
- 2:53Speaker 2: that right and just completely because braun be trying as
- 2:56Speaker 2: hard as to make the other kids feel better about
- 2:58Speaker 2: themselves right like he's always trying to elevate them other
- 3:02Speaker 2: dudes he lost oh my god that was so fun
- 3:06Speaker 2: he's so mad He was so mad, justifiably mad. And
- 3:10Speaker 2: I don't think they won. Did they win another game
- 3:12Speaker 2: in that series?
- 3:13Speaker 4: No. Okay.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, LeBron reportedly, like, sprained his hand afterwards
- 3:18Speaker 3: because he was punching the wall or whatever.
- 3:19Speaker 2: That's right. That's right.
- 3:20Speaker 3: He showed up to game four and they were sprained.
- 3:23Speaker 2: That's right. Like, they packed it up after that. And
- 3:26Speaker 2: it just, I mean, but they were up against something different.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Right. Okay.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Cleveland packed this shit up after they lost that first game.
- 3:36Speaker 2: right after they lost it they packed it up and
- 3:40Speaker 2: look they got blown out a couple of times Philly
- 3:43Speaker 2: got blown out like that but I didn't feel like
- 3:44Speaker 2: Philly packed it up so I don't even know if
- 3:47Speaker 2: it's fair to say that they had quit in games
- 3:49Speaker 2: two and three I don't I don't know I think
- 3:51Speaker 2: they had just lost they quit in game like that
- 3:55Speaker 2: that halftime show on inside the NBA where they were
- 3:58Speaker 2: just like why would we talk about this game.
- 4:01Speaker 3: They brought up The Webster's definition of quitting.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Right, except it wasn't Webster. It was just some shit
- 4:07Speaker 2: they wrote down. Like, I looked at that. There was
- 4:10Speaker 2: nothing to talk about. They went from Charles calling them
- 4:13Speaker 2: quitters to Kenny Smith and Shaq in top hats singing
- 4:19Speaker 2: New York, New York and doing kicks like the Rockettes.
- 4:24Speaker 2: It was so bad. It was immediate. Like, oh, no, remember,
- 4:28Speaker 2: Donovan Mitchell played pretty good. Hit some shots early, right?
- 4:31Speaker 2: They look like they did that thing that teams do
- 4:34Speaker 2: when they're down 3-0, right? They got a little something going.
- 4:38Speaker 2: And then at some point, they all ask themselves, do
- 4:40Speaker 2: I really want to get on a plane again? Did
- 4:42Speaker 2: I even bother to bring a suitcase?
- 4:45Speaker 3: Nope. A suitcase to Cancun, but not a suitcase back
- 4:48Speaker 3: to New York.
- 4:49Speaker 2: This was a one, two, three Cancun classic. The Cancun
- 4:53Speaker 2: all three invitational. They just, they got destroyed. And then
- 4:57Speaker 2: for two games in a row, Cleveland came out there
- 5:00Speaker 2: and press conferences and some important figure on the team
- 5:04Speaker 2: decided to tell the world, we are a bunch of losers.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Okay. Okay.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Kenny Atkinson came out there and look, I listened to
- 5:12Speaker 2: the whole Kenny Atkinson quote. And the point that he
- 5:14Speaker 2: was trying to make is that there was an advanced
- 5:18Speaker 2: metric called expected score. And that in three of the
- 5:21Speaker 2: games up until that point, the Cavs were ahead in
- 5:26Speaker 2: expected score. And he explained that in the press conference.
- 5:31Speaker 2: The only line that came out of that was, analytically,
- 5:35Speaker 2: we've won two out of three. fucking loser nobody wants
- 5:39Speaker 2: to hear that right now like this is not that's
- 5:42Speaker 2: loser talk that's.
- 5:44Speaker 3: On the spot Too stupid to coach my tackle basketball team.
- 5:51Speaker 2: You are not allowed to coach game four after this.
- 5:55Speaker 2: You can't do this. You sure can't. You can't do
- 5:58Speaker 2: that around those angry people. No, I don't know if
- 6:01Speaker 2: you've ever met anybody from Cleveland.
- 6:03Speaker 3: All right.
- 6:03Speaker 2: What they don't have as much of a sense of humor.
- 6:06Speaker 3: No, that's just sports teams.
- 6:08Speaker 2: No, not what do they have a sense of humor about?
- 6:12Speaker 2: It was probably 45 degrees. No, in Cleveland, no. Oh,
- 6:17Speaker 2: my God, you can't say that. And then James Harden,
- 6:21Speaker 2: who has no leeway, I will say again, no leeway
- 6:25Speaker 2: whatsoever when it comes to looking like a loser, he
- 6:29Speaker 2: got out there and said, I still think we're the
- 6:31Speaker 2: better team. No, you're not. We just lost three games
- 6:38Speaker 2: in a row by, no exaggeration, 1,500 points. Go add
- 6:42Speaker 2: it up.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Right?
- 6:46Speaker 2: You and me are going to look at the newspaper
- 6:48Speaker 2: and say, hey, this doesn't add up to 1,500 points.
- 6:51Speaker 2: They're wrong. I watched the shit. It was 1,500 points.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Anybody who saw it knows outright they lost by 500
- 6:59Speaker 2: points three times in a row. We all synced it.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Everybody did. And you, you got out there and said,
- 7:08Speaker 2: I still think we're the better team. Here's why you
- 7:11Speaker 2: can't say that if you James Harden, you can't say,
- 7:14Speaker 2: I still think we're the better team because that then
- 7:17Speaker 2: leads to the question. Well, if you are the better team,
- 7:20Speaker 2: then why did you lose four games in a row?
- 7:23Speaker 2: And the only answer for being the better team, but
- 7:27Speaker 2: losing four games in a row is somebody. And here's
- 7:31Speaker 2: a loser. Like such an overpowering loser that being the
- 7:37Speaker 2: better team doesn't matter because that loser is there. And
- 7:40Speaker 2: when people start asking themselves, well, damn, who's the loser?
- 7:43Speaker 2: Where do you think they're going to look, James?
- 7:46Speaker 1: Huh?
- 7:47Speaker 2: Where do you think they're going to go? That's right, Jimbo.
- 7:49Speaker 2: They're going to look right at you. Some combination between
- 7:54Speaker 2: a choker and a bad luck charm. That's what they,
- 7:59Speaker 2: that's what they saying. That's what, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's,
- 8:06Speaker 2: that's all I'm trying to tell you.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Who could have seen this coming?
- 8:11Speaker 2: I just can't imagine sitting around during the season and
- 8:15Speaker 2: you're like, yo, we got to do something. We try
- 8:18Speaker 2: to win a championship. I think we can get Jimbo.
- 8:25Speaker 2: And by the way, apparently agreed to allow Jimbo to
- 8:29Speaker 2: come back on extension. Because otherwise, Jimbo would be acting
- 8:33Speaker 2: much different.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Right.
- 8:36Speaker 2: If that was the case. We know how Jimbo acts
- 8:38Speaker 2: when he has not been taken care of in the
- 8:40Speaker 2: way that he would prefer. We know this. I would
- 8:43Speaker 2: just also like for them to note that Clippers look
- 8:48Speaker 2: having a better run. They had a chance to make
- 8:50Speaker 2: a run and do some things. And they were like, nah,
- 8:53Speaker 2: we're not bringing Jimbo back.
- 8:55Speaker 3: We'll see. We'll see you later.
- 8:57Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:57Speaker 2: They're like, hey, let's get out ahead of this right
- 8:58Speaker 2: now because we know we ain't going to do that.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Let's get out. That's what they did. All right. They,
- 9:03Speaker 2: they decided, and y'all were like, huh?
- 9:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:07Speaker 2: The Clippers mired in scandal. We're like, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Y'all can have them.
- 9:14Speaker 4: What?
- 9:15Speaker 3: What?
- 9:15Speaker 2: Are you serious? Are you serious?
- 9:17Speaker 3: Like, no, no, no.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Like that was, that was, they look like losers. Okay.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I don't. If somebody called me a loser, I would
- 9:27Speaker 2: be ready to fight. That's the only thing stopping me
- 9:29Speaker 2: from like, I feel like I'm not being honest with
- 9:34Speaker 2: people right now. And I don't like how that feels.
- 9:37Speaker 2: But the game got rules. Okay? But to be fair
- 9:41Speaker 2: to the Cavs, to be fair to them, I want
- 9:49Speaker 2: to know if the Knicks got some tape for that meeting.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Remember they had a meeting after game three? And then
- 9:58Speaker 2: they turned into something unthinkable. anything that I have ever seen.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Like they are, I feel like really good to great
- 10:08Speaker 2: NBA teams now feel more like really good to great
- 10:12Speaker 2: college teams now. in the sense that it's not simply
- 10:15Speaker 2: about who you got on the top line. Like it's
- 10:17Speaker 2: about a certain level of depth, a certain level of cohesion.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Like you think about like great college basketball teams that
- 10:22Speaker 2: didn't create a bunch of great NBA players.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Right.
- 10:26Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Like that's what it feels
- 10:28Speaker 2: like it takes now.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Right.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Like the days of only having six guys who can
- 10:32Speaker 3: play in finals games are over. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Those aren't the teams that are great. And so if
- 10:36Speaker 2: you look at it that way, where what I used
- 10:39Speaker 2: to say is you just got a handful of low
- 10:41Speaker 2: spades on your team. The trick is, apparently now, is
- 10:44Speaker 2: just having a bunch of spades. Like, a handful of
- 10:46Speaker 2: spades that you can dictate the game. The Knicks are like...
- 10:51Speaker 2: They got a bunch of, like, high-ish spades, right? There's
- 10:55Speaker 2: no big joker on the team. Carl Anthony Towns is
- 10:58Speaker 2: like a deuce when the deuce is wild. It feels
- 11:00Speaker 2: like a joker, and then a real joker shows up.
- 11:02Speaker 4: Right.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Shit, I counted that book. However, he's doing pretty good, guys.
- 11:07Speaker 4: Right.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Right? And it's... They... To me, and what I find
- 11:13Speaker 2: interesting about it is, it is the way in which
- 11:15Speaker 2: they are beating these teams. And that is, they look
- 11:17Speaker 2: locked in in a way that teams typically don't look
- 11:19Speaker 2: locked in that have never won anything. So the 0-1 Lakers,
- 11:23Speaker 2: we talked to J.A. Adande. We talked with him about
- 11:25Speaker 2: that last week. That was a team that had won
- 11:28Speaker 2: a championship and then kind of played with his food
- 11:31Speaker 2: a bit during the regular season and then locked in
- 11:34Speaker 2: and destroyed the whole league. The Knicks of all teams
- 11:39Speaker 2: are playing with that kind of focus, right? Like when
- 11:43Speaker 2: you're watching them, it's just like, yo, this isn't, it
- 11:46Speaker 2: isn't fluky. This isn't luck. This is just, we're coming
- 11:51Speaker 2: to win today, guys. They showed up in the black
- 11:54Speaker 2: for the funeral and did it. And did it. Landry Shaman,
- 12:00Speaker 2: who is not a good enough player to deserve to
- 12:02Speaker 2: wear number 44. I just want to throw that out there.
- 12:05Speaker 2: There's a list of numbers, okay? Number one, you either
- 12:10Speaker 2: got to be really good or really small. That seem fair? Right. Okay.
- 12:16Speaker 2: I feel like 32 and 33.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Not good enough.
- 12:21Speaker 2: You got to, you got to, 23. Well, yeah, yeah,
- 12:24Speaker 2: for sure. You have to, you have to, Draymond Green, barely, right?
- 12:28Speaker 2: But you have to earn your way into those. And also,
- 12:31Speaker 2: I feel like 44. I feel like in all sports,
- 12:36Speaker 2: 44 carries a certain weight.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Right.
- 12:39Speaker 2: You know, you got to earn your way into 44.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Landry Shammons is like, I bet.
- 12:44Speaker 3: You think Landry Shammons is more of like a prime number,
- 12:46Speaker 3: like a 19?
- 12:47Speaker 2: Yeah, Landry Shammons is a bit more. Like, 44 is
- 12:51Speaker 2: a number you choose.
- 12:53Speaker 4: Right.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Landry Shammons is supposed to be taking what they got.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Landry Shammons should be like wearing the numbers that Celtics
- 12:59Speaker 2: and Yankees be wearing, where they ain't got that many
- 13:02Speaker 2: numbers left.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Right, right.
- 13:03Speaker 2: I went to Yankees game the other night, man. Anybody
- 13:05Speaker 2: might be an offensive lineman in that motherfucker. Wearing number 67.
- 13:09Speaker 3: What? I think every single digit's gone, right?
- 13:13Speaker 2: Every single digit. Not only is every single digit for
- 13:16Speaker 2: the Yankees gone, number eight is accounted for twice. One
- 13:23Speaker 2: is Billy Martin, two is Derek Jeter, three Ruth, four Garrick,
- 13:26Speaker 2: five DiMaggio, six Torrey, seven Mantle, eight is Barrett and
- 13:29Speaker 2: Bill Dickey, and nine is Roger Marris. There are no
- 13:33Speaker 2: single digits left for the Yankees.
- 13:36Speaker 3: I mean, the Yankees' best player wears number 99. This
- 13:39Speaker 3: is correct.
- 13:40Speaker 2: This is correct. And the Yankees kind of retire. There
- 13:43Speaker 2: are jerseys the Yankees retire that other teams would not.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Like the Red Sox, they are only retiring like star stars.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Right.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Those are the only ones. Bernie Williams, Jorge Posada, I
- 13:53Speaker 2: think Tito Martinez, even though I'm not, if he's not, probably, right?
- 13:57Speaker 2: Andy Pettit.
- 13:58Speaker 4: Right.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Those guys get Paul O'Neal. They retire Paul O'Neal's jersey.
- 14:03Speaker 2: They got a lot of feel goods. Yeah.
- 14:07Speaker 3: If you were along for the ride during a dynasty,
- 14:08Speaker 3: you're probably getting.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Or also, but dogmatically, because they just really liked him.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Ron Guidry, because he was the guy at the time.
- 14:16Speaker 2: It's a whole run of people. Anyway, all I'm saying is,
- 14:19Speaker 2: number 44, Reggie Jackson. Landry Shammott gets to wear that,
- 14:24Speaker 2: and that's not... Everybody needs a Street 44 like Syracuse
- 14:27Speaker 2: Street 44.
- 14:29Speaker 4: Right?
- 14:29Speaker 2: You got to earn this, baby. You got to earn it.
- 14:31Speaker 2: But anyway... They've been this is one of the best
- 14:36Speaker 2: months that any team has had in NBA history. This
- 14:38Speaker 2: is definitely the best month of basketball the New York
- 14:40Speaker 2: Knicks have ever played. They're so happy.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Right.
- 14:43Speaker 3: They are.
- 14:44Speaker 2: They are. They are so thrilled. I tell you this, though.
- 14:48Speaker 2: You ever seen Malcolm X?
- 14:50Speaker 3: It's been a long time, but yes.
- 14:52Speaker 2: You remember that part when Malcolm told all the black
- 14:54Speaker 2: people we did like this and they went like this
- 14:56Speaker 2: and got them all to walk away when they had
- 14:57Speaker 2: that march?
- 14:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:59Speaker 2: That was the level of police presence that was outside
- 15:01Speaker 2: of Radio City Music Hall yesterday because that's where the
- 15:04Speaker 2: watch party was. The cops was ready for them to
- 15:07Speaker 2: burn it down.
- 15:07Speaker 3: We'll do one of the Dark Knight movies.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Yes, yes. Because the problem is this. Where Radio City
- 15:13Speaker 2: Music Hall is, like I feel like if all those
- 15:15Speaker 2: people were somewhere, even if they had been over there
- 15:17Speaker 2: on 33rd Street by the garden, that'd be one thing.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Radio City Music Hall is just a little bit too
- 15:23Speaker 2: close to the tourists.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, well, you know. It's also right next
- 15:27Speaker 3: to the Fox News building, so they don't really like
- 15:29Speaker 3: groups of people standing out there anyway.
- 15:30Speaker 2: You got a great point. You got a great point.
- 15:32Speaker 2: And I feel like a mere avenue or two away
- 15:35Speaker 2: from Trump Tower.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Yes.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Not far.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Not far at all.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Not far.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Oh, man.
- 15:41Speaker 2: They did that, man. The Knicks really did that.
- 15:45Speaker 3: And the fact that all of their fans, the celebrity fans,
- 15:48Speaker 3: went and took over Cleveland. Like, you think you were
- 15:50Speaker 3: going to see Fat Joe show up in San Antonio?
- 15:52Speaker 4: No.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Yo, well, one way or another.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:55Speaker 2: One way or another, right? This is the thing. I
- 15:58Speaker 2: also have to say this to you, Cleveland. And I
- 16:01Speaker 2: get where they were coming from, okay? And they were
- 16:05Speaker 2: trying their hardest basically to stop courtside from being New
- 16:10Speaker 2: York Knicks fan celebrity row. And I saw my man
- 16:13Speaker 2: Brian Glasspeaker made the point that it's kind of unfair
- 16:16Speaker 2: that the Knicks can do this because Knicks fans have
- 16:18Speaker 2: more money. And it's not, it's a little, to me,
- 16:21Speaker 2: it's a little bit more complicated than that, right? It's
- 16:22Speaker 2: not simply about having more money. I once went to
- 16:27Speaker 2: a concert in Europe because it was cheaper to go
- 16:31Speaker 2: in Europe than it was to go in the United
- 16:33Speaker 2: States because of everything that goes on with tickets here
- 16:36Speaker 2: and everything else. Like add a plane ticket and everything
- 16:38Speaker 2: else and it was cheaper to go in Paris than
- 16:40Speaker 2: it was to go in the States. That's what this
- 16:43Speaker 2: is for Knicks fans. Your tickets look like a steal,
- 16:47Speaker 2: even including the plane ticket, because it's so expensive to
- 16:51Speaker 2: go to Madison Square Garden.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Have you seen how much people are paying for finals tickets?
- 16:55Speaker 2: I saw somebody put a quarter mil down on court
- 16:57Speaker 2: side seats. I called my brother, and I was like, hey, man,
- 17:01Speaker 2: what's the most that you'll be willing to pay to
- 17:03Speaker 2: go to an NBA finals game? And he said $ 500,
- 17:06Speaker 2: and there's no reason for us to talk about that
- 17:08Speaker 2: shit again.
- 17:09Speaker 3: You might not be able to get... To 35th Street.
- 17:12Speaker 3: That's exactly what I was about to say.
- 17:14Speaker 2: I don't even think they'll let you off the subway.
- 17:18Speaker 3: You're not getting in a high-rise to watch Madison Square Garden.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Since you can't even take New Jersey Transit to the
- 17:23Speaker 2: World Cup for $ 500. Right. I was like, okay, that's
- 17:27Speaker 2: not going to happen. And then I called Nick. And
- 17:29Speaker 2: Nick was like, I'm the wrong person to ask because
- 17:31Speaker 2: he'll spend on tickets. And then he started like, we
- 17:33Speaker 2: really started talking it through and it was like, oh,
- 17:36Speaker 2: this will probably cost $ 2, 000 or $ 3, 000 to get a
- 17:38Speaker 2: seat worth having right maybe yeah like this this like
- 17:46Speaker 2: this could be that sort of thing people are that
- 17:50Speaker 2: ecstatic they are that excited they are that everything because
- 17:54Speaker 2: they have been the best team in the NBA postseason
- 17:57Speaker 2: by far by far it doesn't matter what you say
- 18:02Speaker 2: about who they played against and by the way We
- 18:04Speaker 2: ain't even really talking that much about what adjustments they've
- 18:07Speaker 2: made or anything else. We know they did the thing
- 18:08Speaker 2: where they were like, we're going to run the offense
- 18:10Speaker 2: through Carl Anthony Towns and everything else. It don't matter
- 18:12Speaker 2: what the fuck they did, man. They've just been doing it.
- 18:15Speaker 2: And they're the Knicks. The Knicks. This has happened. But anyway,
- 18:20Speaker 2: the thing I was saying about the tickets. Cleveland, Dan
- 18:26Speaker 2: Gilbert put it out there that if you sold your
- 18:28Speaker 2: courtside seats to a Knicks fan, you will be permanently
- 18:30Speaker 2: banned from the arena. I get it. You know what
- 18:35Speaker 2: I mean? And shout out to Dan Gilbert. What he
- 18:36Speaker 2: really could have done was just made them prices sky
- 18:38Speaker 2: high and just took all them New York people money, right?
- 18:40Speaker 2: So he seemed to stand on principle in some way
- 18:43Speaker 2: or another. So I understand why that happened. I get it.
- 18:47Speaker 2: I'm not mad at him. Except there were clearly 10
- 18:53Speaker 2: courtside seats that they might as well have made available
- 18:57Speaker 2: to Knicks fans. It was the ones that the Cavs
- 19:01Speaker 2: were sitting in. Why were they even there? They should
- 19:08Speaker 2: have just had five dudes on the floor and made
- 19:10Speaker 2: the Cavs sit on the ground. And then you make
- 19:12Speaker 2: that money off Fat Joe and them. Because, I mean, look,
- 19:14Speaker 2: them dudes, they should not have been allowed to sit down.
- 19:17Speaker 2: They should have come out the game and had to
- 19:18Speaker 2: go stand up, lean against the wall if you need
- 19:21Speaker 2: some air or whatever it is. But they didn't need
- 19:23Speaker 2: those seats. They didn't come to the game. That was
- 19:26Speaker 2: right there. All the money that you could have had
- 19:29Speaker 2: when them motherfuckers did not show up. But the Knicks did,
- 19:33Speaker 2: and the Knicks have for a month. And good gracious,
- 19:37Speaker 2: they are going to the NBA fight. I believe Oklahoma
- 19:45Speaker 2: City is in trouble. If they are down Jalen Williams
- 19:49Speaker 2: and they are down... A.J. Mitchell, who is amazingly important
- 19:53Speaker 2: for a guy that I'd never heard of as of
- 19:56Speaker 2: six weeks ago. The adjustments seem to be pretty clear, though,
- 20:02Speaker 2: that they've decided to halfway guard, have like the one
- 20:06Speaker 2: and a half double, like the half double on Shea,
- 20:09Speaker 2: and what these other cats going to do.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Also, you know, that eight foot guy at the rim.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Instead of like these hard traps that
- 20:17Speaker 2: then the ball goes around and Alex Caruso's wide open
- 20:19Speaker 2: or something like that, right? Like that is the thing
- 20:21Speaker 2: about the eight foot guy is interesting to watch is
- 20:23Speaker 2: that they don't have to switch. Right. Like you can
- 20:26Speaker 2: run that screen or whatever and then Victor's there just
- 20:29Speaker 2: holding it down until you can get back over there
- 20:31Speaker 2: and then now you don't wind up with these crazy
- 20:33Speaker 2: mismatches or anything else. They put a hurt on them
- 20:37Speaker 2: in game four on Sunday and Chet has been rendered useless.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Right?
- 20:44Speaker 2: Like, Victor, that has become a rivalry like Serena and Sharapova.
- 20:52Speaker 2: That at some point early in the game, Sharapova won
- 20:55Speaker 2: them two, and then she got her ass kicked for
- 20:58Speaker 2: 20 years in a row. That's kind of, I mean,
- 21:00Speaker 2: it ain't been 20 yet, but this is no longer
- 21:03Speaker 2: a rivalry. Like, it's at the point where I'm surprised
- 21:06Speaker 2: that nobody has called Victor and said, hey, man, it's over.
- 21:11Speaker 2: You ain't got to, like, you won, bro. You won.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Because Chet, you see it on his face. I'm a
- 21:18Speaker 2: Chet guy. No, no, no, no, no.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Doesn't want to be anywhere else.
- 21:23Speaker 2: He's just like, that was supposed to be me. Like,
- 21:27Speaker 2: Victor's in the NBA looking like Chet did in high school.
- 21:30Speaker 2: And if you go look at the clips of Chet
- 21:31Speaker 2: in high school, they are unreal.
- 21:33Speaker 3: How much, how often do you think Chet has to
- 21:35Speaker 3: do like this?
- 21:37Speaker 1: Right. Right.
- 21:38Speaker 2: That's where he is. It is just got his Victor
- 21:42Speaker 2: City's two hand dunk back. Once again, when everybody talks
- 21:44Speaker 2: about how Victor is like how he's not strong. No, no, no, no, no.
- 21:47Speaker 2: That's not true. He has base issues. Right. Center of
- 21:51Speaker 2: gravity issues. But Oklahoma City got got to get this
- 21:56Speaker 2: thing together. Right. And I mean, I think we're going
- 21:59Speaker 2: to know what they're going to do to try to
- 22:01Speaker 2: get it together, which is turn up the foul and
- 22:03Speaker 2: turn up the flopping. That's what they do. I've seen
- 22:07Speaker 2: the people on the internet try to make the argument
- 22:10Speaker 2: that it's really just some sort of narrative with Oklahoma City,
- 22:13Speaker 2: and you can go and you can count it up
- 22:14Speaker 2: and everything else. We watching the games, man. We seeing
- 22:18Speaker 2: what they doing. But it dawned on me in game
- 22:21Speaker 2: three that it was important to note, they got a
- 22:23Speaker 2: good one on San Antonio in game three. It's important
- 22:26Speaker 2: to note, they be doing all that fouling, they be
- 22:29Speaker 2: doing all that flopping, but it does not change the
- 22:31Speaker 2: fact that they are really good. And that's why we
- 22:37Speaker 2: got to start calling them what they are, the Oklahoma
- 22:40Speaker 2: City Blue Devils. That's what they are, man. They some devils.
- 22:46Speaker 2: They be out there playing devilish basketball, all on the
- 22:49Speaker 2: premise that you can't call everything. But then when you
- 22:51Speaker 2: get down to it deep down, you have to be like, yeah, man,
- 22:54Speaker 2: but them cats are cold. Like they are. They are good.
- 22:59Speaker 2: And they are. They may be in trouble now. And
- 23:02Speaker 2: by the way, their best player, who falls down all
- 23:05Speaker 2: the time. And you could say that part of that
- 23:07Speaker 2: is him trying to stay healthy. Part of that is
- 23:09Speaker 2: him being janky. Have you seen his on-off numbers?
- 23:13Speaker 3: I have not.
- 23:14Speaker 2: They are much better with him off the floor and
- 23:18Speaker 2: have been for a couple of series now.
- 23:21Speaker 3: That's wild.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Like I want to say it's like in the 40s.
- 23:25Speaker 2: But you know what I think that is? He's playing
- 23:28Speaker 2: most of his minutes when Victor's out there.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Right.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Like early in the series, it became clear to me,
- 23:34Speaker 2: The Thunder weren't just going to have to win the
- 23:36Speaker 2: non-victor minutes. They're going to have to dominate the non-victor
- 23:41Speaker 2: minutes because the Spurs are able to dominate in his minutes.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Like this game five, shout out to my man Shannon,
- 23:49Speaker 2: the pivotal game five. Now we're in it. Game five
- 23:55Speaker 2: is pivotal. Game six, a team will stave off elimination,
- 23:59Speaker 2: hoping to push it to a do or die game seven.
- 24:04Speaker 2: But this one, this is important. But it's also important
- 24:10Speaker 2: that somehow we got to make it known that this
- 24:13Speaker 2: Duke shit does not prosper. It's important for San Antonio
- 24:16Speaker 2: to get this done. It's not just about whether or
- 24:19Speaker 2: not they win or not. It's about sending a message
- 24:20Speaker 2: to everybody that... You're not supposed to prosper in this way.
- 24:26Speaker 2: This isn't it. But they are so grabby. This is not...
- 24:30Speaker 2: There's nothing to like about this team. And it's sad
- 24:33Speaker 2: because it should be everything to like about this team.
- 24:37Speaker 2: And I'm going to be honest with you. And this
- 24:38Speaker 2: is the thing for me about the Thunder as it goes.
- 24:41Speaker 2: It's not even really fun because I feel like... I
- 24:45Speaker 2: feel like it's on one hand, it's people like us
- 24:48Speaker 2: who think they play a little janky, right?
- 24:51Speaker 4: And then.
- 24:52Speaker 2: On the other hand, it's people who are like, eh,
- 24:55Speaker 2: what's the big deal?
- 24:56Speaker 1: Okay?
- 24:57Speaker 2: And that's not what it needs to be if you're
- 24:59Speaker 2: going to play basketball like that. Like, if you're going
- 25:02Speaker 2: to play basketball like that, you need to be polarizing.
- 25:08Speaker 2: And there's only one solution to that and the only
- 25:10Speaker 2: way that they can become polarizing rather than just be
- 25:14Speaker 2: a little bit janky. Y'all got to go get some
- 25:17Speaker 2: more white boys. In particular, Some, like, at least one
- 25:23Speaker 2: or two really obnoxious white boys. And yes, I am
- 25:28Speaker 2: saying and advocating for exactly what you think I'm saying.
- 25:34Speaker 2: That's right. If y'all are going to do this, if
- 25:38Speaker 2: y'all are going to play like this, you got to
- 25:41Speaker 2: lean all the way in on it and go make
- 25:44Speaker 2: a trade for Grayson Allen. If you're going to be
- 25:49Speaker 2: out here living this way, emulating this, because the worst
- 25:52Speaker 2: thing about it is y'all a little bit passive aggressive
- 25:54Speaker 2: about it, to be honest, right? Like it's just annoying
- 25:57Speaker 2: in such a way. Go the whole way and go
- 26:00Speaker 2: get him in there to be tripping people. Right? If
- 26:04Speaker 2: you're going to be devils, turn it all the way up.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Go out there, get you Grayson Allen. Where Greg Paul
- 26:13Speaker 2: is at? Could he be an assistant coach? get out
- 26:16Speaker 2: there and teach them cats all the tricks of the
- 26:18Speaker 2: trade or whatever it is. Like if you're going to
- 26:20Speaker 2: do it, do it.
- 26:22Speaker 3: Is there another Hurley somewhere?
- 26:25Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good question. Maybe make that like. Have
- 26:29Speaker 2: what's his name? Do they got like a bell or
- 26:31Speaker 2: something that they ring before the game? Like since they
- 26:34Speaker 2: had a thunder, can they get like a gong or
- 26:36Speaker 2: something or something that they can clap or whatever and
- 26:38Speaker 2: get Christian Laitner to do it? If you're going to
- 26:40Speaker 2: be it, be it. That's all I'm saying. If this
- 26:43Speaker 2: is what you want to be, if this is what
- 26:44Speaker 2: you want to stand for, then go ahead and do it.
- 26:46Speaker 2: Because right now, you're just impossible to like. That's all
- 26:50Speaker 2: it is.
- 26:50Speaker 1: No.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Be hateable, and then by being hateable, especially if you
- 26:55Speaker 2: get the right blend of Caucasians, because you got to
- 26:57Speaker 2: understand this, man. We've talked about this before. White people,
- 27:01Speaker 2: when it comes to basketball, they got low self-esteem. It's
- 27:04Speaker 2: a real crab in a barrel kind of situation. It's
- 27:06Speaker 2: been a long time since they've been able to really
- 27:08Speaker 2: galvanize behind some white players in that way. But I
- 27:11Speaker 2: feel like you guys could try. If y'all turn into
- 27:13Speaker 2: some actual, factual champions, they won't be able to help themselves.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Especially when you juxtapose against the Spurs and all them
- 27:21Speaker 2: dreadhead brothers in the lobby that they got, you could
- 27:23Speaker 2: turn this all the way up, especially just with the
- 27:26Speaker 2: way that y'all be playing. Y'all got to do this because, look,
- 27:29Speaker 2: you need to understand this. I think we all got
- 27:33Speaker 2: a handle on the greatness that Victor is headed toward,
- 27:36Speaker 2: but I now fully understand how great he about to be.
- 27:41Speaker 2: And you know how I know this. Y'all already getting
- 27:44Speaker 2: them right here at them corners. Right there at the corners.
- 27:48Speaker 2: That hairline is already starting to run away, like all
- 27:50Speaker 2: the greats.
- 27:52Speaker 4: Right?
- 27:53Speaker 2: Now, back in the day, like Russell and Chamberlain, for
- 27:55Speaker 2: whatever reason, they wasn't like that. But in modern times,
- 27:58Speaker 2: it's become very clear. If you truly going to be
- 28:00Speaker 2: a great, you got to have some of these, you know, Jordan, LeBron,
- 28:05Speaker 2: Kevin Durant. I mean, if you pay attention to Steph Curry,
- 28:07Speaker 2: And corners been running away from him for a while, too. Kobe,
- 28:10Speaker 2: he had the same issue. Kobe was out there. Kobe,
- 28:12Speaker 2: after a point, Kobe had the lowest number of hair
- 28:15Speaker 2: clippers ever. So he could still say that he was
- 28:17Speaker 2: getting haircuts.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Right.
- 28:20Speaker 2: It's heading that way. Victor going that way. Y'all need
- 28:23Speaker 2: to be careful. Boy, let me tell you something, man.
- 28:25Speaker 2: And I know some of y'all are going to think
- 28:27Speaker 2: I'm hating, but a lot of y'all are going to
- 28:28Speaker 2: know exactly what I got to say about this. It's
- 28:32Speaker 2: a little different to tell this to white people because
- 28:34Speaker 2: the nature of y'all's hair allows y'all to account for this,
- 28:36Speaker 2: to cover for this in much different ways. But I
- 28:39Speaker 2: feel like I don't really want to say this dude's name,
- 28:41Speaker 2: but I saw this dude on television the other day.
- 28:43Speaker 2: He had a hairline down to his eyebrows. And with
- 28:45Speaker 2: the exception of my man, Michael Smith, everybody that got
- 28:48Speaker 2: a hairline like that, don't not one of them motherfuckers deserve.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Everybody who got like a super persistent hairline, he ain't shit,
- 28:56Speaker 2: and you know he ain't. They don't never deserve it.
- 28:58Speaker 2: The real ones, the true great ones, this is something
- 29:01Speaker 2: that we got to overcome. Every day for us is
- 29:03Speaker 2: a challenge. Iron sharpens iron, and we thereby become better people.
- 29:06Speaker 2: We become better at everything we do. That's who we are.
- 29:09Speaker 2: But when you see them cats with them hairlines down here,
- 29:11Speaker 2: and I'm not talking about the cheaters. I'm talking about
- 29:13Speaker 2: the actual ones. And I was saying, I was talking
- 29:16Speaker 2: about P.K. Subodh. He really bothered me last year when
- 29:18Speaker 2: he got out there I told people he wasn't talking
- 29:20Speaker 2: like a white man. He was talking like a hockey player. Hey,
- 29:22Speaker 2: I stopped watching the NBA when Kobe retired.
- 29:25Speaker 1: What?
- 29:27Speaker 2: Why do you even get out of here and say that?
- 29:29Speaker 2: And look at his hairline. All the way down to
- 29:31Speaker 2: his eyebrows is always somebody that don't deserve it. Also,
- 29:37Speaker 2: except for my man, Joel. Joel has a... rather persistent hairline. But,
- 29:43Speaker 2: I'm not saying he doesn't deserve it, but he do
- 29:47Speaker 2: be hating on people a lot. That's what I just
- 29:51Speaker 2: say about Subban. I was the NBA since Kobe. Right?
- 29:56Speaker 1: Right?
- 29:56Speaker 2: It's always them. Not Victor. Hell nah. Victor about to
- 30:01Speaker 2: be out this bad boy. We got to start calling
- 30:03Speaker 2: him LeCount. You know what I'm saying? He going to
- 30:08Speaker 2: be coming down right here. He going to be throwing
- 30:11Speaker 2: up the woo real soon over there. That's how you
- 30:15Speaker 2: know it's around the corner. That's how you know what's coming.
- 30:18Speaker 2: But anyway, they the OKC Blue Devils. I know some
- 30:21Speaker 2: of y'all don't like that because y'all root for OKC.
- 30:24Speaker 2: I know some of y'all know it because y'all root
- 30:26Speaker 2: for Duke too. But all I'm telling you is If
- 30:30Speaker 2: they don't want to be seen in that light, stop
- 30:33Speaker 2: acting like devils. They are the OKC blue shirt devils.

- 31:52Speaker 3: We got you. Now, if you haven't heard All right, Bo,
- 31:57Speaker 3: if you haven't heard, some drama in New York. Jackson
- 32:00Speaker 3: Dart got in some trouble for introducing Donald Trump at
- 32:03Speaker 3: a rally. His teammate, Abil Carter, tweeted, thought this S-T
- 32:09Speaker 3: was AI, what we doing, man? I don't know why.
- 32:21Speaker 2: That was so funny to me because I can hear
- 32:24Speaker 2: it I thought this was AI what are we doing
- 32:28Speaker 2: here okay me and my man Rod were talking about
- 32:34Speaker 2: these yesterday I did not see this because I was
- 32:36Speaker 2: in transit but apparently he was talking about it on
- 32:38Speaker 2: Get Up and I don't know who was hosting but
- 32:40Speaker 2: he was like whoever was hosting was like we don't
- 32:43Speaker 2: want to talk about the politics here nobody cares about
- 32:46Speaker 2: the politics yes we do That's the whole reason anybody cared.
- 32:50Speaker 2: This idea that we don't care about the politics of athletes, yes,
- 32:54Speaker 2: we do. Now, whether you care enough about the politics
- 32:58Speaker 2: that it affects whether or not you root for them
- 33:01Speaker 2: on your team, that becomes a different situation and that
- 33:05Speaker 2: becomes just a little bit tricky, right? Like, if you
- 33:09Speaker 2: are a Giants fan, will you stop rooting for the
- 33:13Speaker 2: Giants because Jackson Dart is a Trumper? Probably not, right?
- 33:21Speaker 2: But don't tell me you don't care. The World Cup's
- 33:23Speaker 2: about to come up, okay? If Belgium is playing the Congo,
- 33:27Speaker 2: who you think I'm rooting for and why? Okay, we
- 33:31Speaker 2: do care about the politics. Don't act like you don't,
- 33:35Speaker 2: all right? What struck me about this, and I also
- 33:39Speaker 2: want to be clear about this, the whole, you know,
- 33:41Speaker 2: this is going to fracture the locker room. NFL locker
- 33:44Speaker 2: rooms are wild, segregated, and full of white players who
- 33:48Speaker 2: support Trump and black players who support Trump. That is
- 33:54Speaker 2: not no revolutionary rule. That's not how the NFL works.
- 34:02Speaker 2: This is why the Jackson Dart thing is interesting to me.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Me and my man Rob would talk about this too.
- 34:10Speaker 2: He said that this is what Abdul Carter is saying
- 34:12Speaker 2: to Jackson Dart, and this is what I'm saying to
- 34:15Speaker 2: Jackson Dart. Take that monkey shit off. You embarrassing us.
- 34:21Speaker 2: And what I'm talking about is this. You in here,
- 34:25Speaker 2: think about all the love that he got for them chains,
- 34:28Speaker 2: when he out here doing dances and all of this stuff.
- 34:31Speaker 2: I guarantee you it's a few cats in there. That
- 34:33Speaker 2: was like, oh, he cool. Not only does he pull
- 34:37Speaker 2: up like introducing Trump. Can we be honest about this?
- 34:41Speaker 2: He sounded stupid. And I'm not saying simply because he
- 34:46Speaker 2: was there with Trump. How did he say that I
- 34:49Speaker 2: am pleasured to be here? And then he says something about,
- 34:54Speaker 2: I don't think there are a lot of blue haired,
- 34:57Speaker 2: blue heads or something like that.
- 34:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:00Speaker 2: That blue hairs. I think you said not a lot
- 35:02Speaker 2: of blue. What are you talking about?
- 35:04Speaker 3: Old people?
- 35:06Speaker 2: Is that, was that like, I.
- 35:07Speaker 3: Think that is like a, a online descriptor of people
- 35:11Speaker 3: of the far left.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Yeah, but I'm like, but people with blue hair, when
- 35:15Speaker 2: I was growing up, that's what we said about old people.
- 35:18Speaker 3: Got it.
- 35:19Speaker 2: But you think there are Democrats that root for the Giants? Like,
- 35:23Speaker 2: I think it's stupid that people are like, oh, that's
- 35:25Speaker 2: a really dumb thing for him to do, playing in
- 35:27Speaker 2: New York. You know how liberal New York is. New
- 35:29Speaker 2: York is not nearly as liberal as you think. Let
- 35:31Speaker 2: me tell you where it's really not as liberal as
- 35:33Speaker 2: you think. MetLife, right? Like, go meet some Giants fans. Okay? Like,
- 35:41Speaker 2: Rudy Giuliani, he lives in New York, too, and he
- 35:43Speaker 2: won a couple of elections up here. That's all I'm saying. Like,
- 35:46Speaker 2: this is not the liberal bastion that you think it is.
- 35:49Speaker 2: It's not that. But it would be helpful, Jackson Dart,
- 35:54Speaker 2: if you did some winning, right? Like, if this is
- 35:56Speaker 2: the game you decide to play, look, you can go
- 35:59Speaker 2: ahead and do that if you want, right? That is
- 36:01Speaker 2: his option. I do think it's important to note that...
- 36:10Speaker 2: What is the best way to put this? I do
- 36:15Speaker 2: think that it is important to note that Trump is
- 36:19Speaker 2: not the same as any other politician. Like, standing with
- 36:23Speaker 2: Trump is not just people, and people have a problem
- 36:25Speaker 2: with it, it's not simply, I disagree with your politics. Okay?
- 36:30Speaker 2: Somebody went up there and stood with Curtis Shliwa during
- 36:33Speaker 2: the mayoral election. It's not going to be a thing. Right?
- 36:37Speaker 2: It wouldn't have been an issue. This is very particularly
- 36:40Speaker 2: about this very particular man. But if you want to
- 36:45Speaker 2: try to tell me that nobody cares about the politics
- 36:49Speaker 2: of the quarterback, then I need you to explain to
- 36:51Speaker 2: me why Donald Trump thought it was worth having the
- 36:54Speaker 2: quarterback at his rally.
- 36:57Speaker 3: I have a quick observation.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Feel free.
- 37:01Speaker 3: After Jackson Dart's first year in the league, what do
- 37:03Speaker 3: you think was the biggest thing he needed to work on?
- 37:06Speaker 2: His decision-making?
- 37:08Speaker 3: Risk aversion.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I was about to say, knowing a bad idea
- 37:12Speaker 2: when he saw one.
- 37:12Speaker 3: Not charging headlong into a dangerous situation that would harm
- 37:18Speaker 3: himself or his teammates.
- 37:19Speaker 2: No, no.
- 37:21Speaker 3: I would argue, regardless of your politics, you'd have to agree,
- 37:26Speaker 3: still needs to work on his risk aversion.
- 37:29Speaker 2: By the way, shout out to Steve Tisch. Remember him?
- 37:31Speaker 2: Remember that guy?
- 37:34Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:35Speaker 3: So I'm talking about something we haven't mentioned in a while.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Oh God.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Hey man, he had to go. And for those of
- 37:40Speaker 2: you who don't remember, Steve Tisch was in the Epstein
- 37:43Speaker 2: files and it's still so funny. Them girls was just
- 37:47Speaker 2: trying to get modeling jobs. Them girls was just trying
- 37:50Speaker 2: to like not go back to one of them lobbyists, right?
- 37:55Speaker 2: They just didn't want to go back to the old country.
- 37:57Speaker 2: Steve Tish looking for love. The girls was complaining to
- 38:00Speaker 2: Epstein like, yo, I just thought I was going to
- 38:03Speaker 2: have to go on a couple dates, maybe on some...
- 38:07Speaker 2: This dude, like, he's looking for a relationship. I thought
- 38:12Speaker 2: he was just a trick.
- 38:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:15Speaker 3: All right, moving on. The SCORE Act, a piece of
- 38:17Speaker 3: legislation aimed to curb the big business of college sports,
- 38:20Speaker 3: has been torpedoed by the congressional-backed Black Caucus. This move
- 38:25Speaker 3: came last week. They said in a statement, quote, for generations,
- 38:31Speaker 3: Black athletes have held build college athletics into one of
- 38:33Speaker 3: the most powerful and profitable industries in American life. Yet
- 38:37Speaker 3: at this very moment, those same communities face coordinated attacks
- 38:40Speaker 3: on their Democratic representation. Too many leaders across college athletics
- 38:44Speaker 3: have chosen silence. Bo, you had a reaction to this
- 38:47Speaker 3: piece of news.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Okay, so Joel and I talked about this last week,
- 38:51Speaker 2: but unfortunate for us, the news of the NAACP and
- 38:57Speaker 2: the CBC getting together for this boycott, it came literally
- 39:00Speaker 2: while we were sitting down. So like Joel and I
- 39:02Speaker 2: were kind of going through it and talking through it.
- 39:04Speaker 2: And he and I, it's been great to talk. It
- 39:06Speaker 2: was great to talk to him that day. And he
- 39:08Speaker 2: and I have kind of stayed in communication about this.
- 39:10Speaker 2: And it's been great to kind of help me Think
- 39:11Speaker 2: about what is going on. I know he's writing something
- 39:13Speaker 2: about this for the ringer that I look forward to
- 39:18Speaker 2: checking out. But that detail right there really struck me
- 39:21Speaker 2: because one place where I don't think I express myself
- 39:25Speaker 2: in ways I don't i don't think i express myself
- 39:27Speaker 2: correctly is that i do not think that college athletes
- 39:32Speaker 2: are too young to participate in a struggle or a
- 39:35Speaker 2: resistance against the political order of the day again my
- 39:39Speaker 2: mother was out there 14 15 years old getting shit
- 39:42Speaker 2: done so obviously um I see an appreciation and a
- 39:46Speaker 2: value in young people participating. But I do think something
- 39:49Speaker 2: worth noting and what I remember about the story with
- 39:51Speaker 2: my mom that is important is that it was a
- 39:54Speaker 2: group of these students in Oklahoma City and they were
- 39:58Speaker 2: taken to New York City to see a Broadway play.
- 40:02Speaker 2: And that was the first time in their lives that
- 40:05Speaker 2: they had been somewhere that was not under the thumb
- 40:08Speaker 2: of segregation. And so they got a taste of what
- 40:11Speaker 2: a certain life was. And then that comes back and
- 40:13Speaker 2: informs them and informs their struggle and their resistance to
- 40:17Speaker 2: what was going on. But they had a taste and
- 40:18Speaker 2: an understanding of what's going on here. My issue with
- 40:22Speaker 2: this was the idea that I felt like people of
- 40:28Speaker 2: a certain level of status and prestige were outsourcing the
- 40:31Speaker 2: fight to young people, not unlike politicians who send young
- 40:36Speaker 2: people off to fight a war.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Right.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Like I felt like in order to achieve the goals
- 40:41Speaker 2: that they thought that were important, that what they were
- 40:44Speaker 2: advocating is for somebody else to go fight the fight,
- 40:47Speaker 2: and I don't really understand what it is that you
- 40:49Speaker 2: over here doing, right? And so what I do not
- 40:52Speaker 2: approve of is asking these young people to make a
- 40:55Speaker 2: sacrifice in the name of what you want when I'm
- 40:58Speaker 2: not sure that you're going to be out here making
- 41:01Speaker 2: a similar sacrifice yourself, okay? That's where my issue came down.
- 41:08Speaker 2: This thing about the SCORE Act is very important in
- 41:12Speaker 2: understanding my point, and it actually left me even more
- 41:16Speaker 2: infuriated with the CBC on this. The SCORE Act, for
- 41:21Speaker 2: those of you who don't know, The NCAA has poured
- 41:25Speaker 2: millions and millions and millions and millions of dollars into
- 41:31Speaker 2: lobbying in Congress. We did something about this on Game Theory,
- 41:34Speaker 2: I want to say, in 2023. My guy Andrew Cooper
- 41:37Speaker 2: talks a lot about this also. They have spent a
- 41:40Speaker 2: lot of time, a lot of effort, and a lot
- 41:42Speaker 2: of money in lobbying Congress to beg Congress to save
- 41:46Speaker 2: them from the mess they have created by not coming
- 41:49Speaker 2: up with a way to treat players properly and figure
- 41:51Speaker 2: out how to equitably deal with all the money that's
- 41:54Speaker 2: come in. Somebody's had to sue them at every step
- 41:57Speaker 2: to get them to do something that is close to
- 41:59Speaker 2: being right. And now it's led to this measure of
- 42:01Speaker 2: chaos where the money's all over the place. The money,
- 42:04Speaker 2: they say it's NIL, but it's really salary, but all
- 42:06Speaker 2: these things, right? So the score act is what the
- 42:09Speaker 2: NCAA has wanted to get pushed through. And Donald Trump
- 42:13Speaker 2: had tried to push through. OK. It did not get
- 42:19Speaker 2: to the floor for a vote. Now, I think it's
- 42:24Speaker 2: important to note that this is a bit of a
- 42:27Speaker 2: bipartisan issue.
- 42:29Speaker 4: Right.
- 42:29Speaker 2: And when I say a bipartisan issue, I mean the
- 42:31Speaker 2: idea of approving of name, image and likeness payments and
- 42:35Speaker 2: compensation for players, which used to be a bipartisan issue
- 42:39Speaker 2: in opposition and then kind of became a partisan issue
- 42:42Speaker 2: where those toward the left were more in support than
- 42:44Speaker 2: those on the right. And there have been studies that
- 42:47Speaker 2: show that, uh, how you felt about civil rights was
- 42:50Speaker 2: a correlating factor into how you felt about paying players. Now,
- 42:53Speaker 2: when you look across the board, like Bob Orr, former
- 42:56Speaker 2: Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, that is
- 42:59Speaker 2: a Republican man who for the last 15 years has
- 43:01Speaker 2: been strongly on the player side of these matters. That
- 43:05Speaker 2: is an example. Tom Mars, the attorney, who I don't
- 43:08Speaker 2: believe is a very left-wing figure that I've talked to,
- 43:10Speaker 2: he's on this side. Like, you go look at it.
- 43:13Speaker 2: It's become a bipartisan thing to be on the side
- 43:16Speaker 2: of the players on this one. with the SCORE Act.
- 43:22Speaker 2: Byron Donalds in Florida is on the player side of this.
- 43:26Speaker 2: Other Republicans are on the player end, on the end
- 43:29Speaker 2: of this, opposing the SCORE Act. One of the biggest
- 43:32Speaker 2: oppositions or reasons to oppose the SCORE Act is the
- 43:35Speaker 2: SCORE Act puts a disproportionate amount of power to the
- 43:38Speaker 2: NCAA on what to do. It overrides a lot of
- 43:42Speaker 2: these state laws that protect NIL payments. It prevents players
- 43:47Speaker 2: from unionizing and collectively bargaining and also from being recognized
- 43:54Speaker 2: as employees. That is what the SCORE Act does. The
- 43:59Speaker 2: AFL-CIO has a very strong thing that you can find
- 44:03Speaker 2: online in opposition to the SCORE Act. Right. Just about
- 44:08Speaker 2: anybody I know, including Andrew Cooper and other people who
- 44:11Speaker 2: work in organizing on the player side, are opposed to
- 44:15Speaker 2: the score rack. The Byron Donalds do. His opposition on
- 44:18Speaker 2: it is is a restriction of trade, basically. That is
- 44:21Speaker 2: why many Republicans oppose it, because it restricts the economic
- 44:25Speaker 2: power and flexibility of the players. It is an anti
- 44:30Speaker 2: player proposition. OK. And the Congressional Black Caucus. has made
- 44:38Speaker 2: it seem as though they would have been willing to
- 44:43Speaker 2: vote for the SCORE Act if they got the redistricting
- 44:47Speaker 2: that they wanted or wanted to prevent the redistricting that
- 44:50Speaker 2: we have seen happen in some places, okay? If they
- 44:54Speaker 2: were willing to vote for this provision that works in
- 44:59Speaker 2: opposition of the players in order to get what they want,
- 45:05Speaker 2: That explicitly means that they are willing to sacrifice the
- 45:12Speaker 2: interests of these young men and women for their own goals.
- 45:18Speaker 2: It means that they are literally sending these young men
- 45:22Speaker 2: and women to the front line of a fight while
- 45:27Speaker 2: they sit back. This is why I am opposed to
- 45:36Speaker 2: what this is that they talking about. This is also
- 45:39Speaker 2: why I don't be wanting to go to they little
- 45:41Speaker 2: weekend in D.C. Because what are you doing? What are
- 45:45Speaker 2: you doing? How dare you guys get out here and
- 45:47Speaker 2: actually say that? Now, maybe what you're just trying to
- 45:50Speaker 2: do is to claim some credit and make it seem
- 45:52Speaker 2: like you was making some noise. Right. Maybe that's why
- 45:54Speaker 2: you want to do it. Maybe that's why you're going
- 45:56Speaker 2: about this. But if you want to get this done,
- 45:59Speaker 2: think about this. The players that you're talking about and
- 46:04Speaker 2: you want not to go to these southern schools, you're
- 46:07Speaker 2: by and large talking about high school players, okay? Guess
- 46:11Speaker 2: what high school players can't do?
- 46:14Speaker 3: Vote.
- 46:17Speaker 2: Like, as it stands for them, this is an issue
- 46:20Speaker 2: that isn't really relevant to them. That's why I brought
- 46:22Speaker 2: up the thing about my mom and them going to
- 46:24Speaker 2: New York. Once they go to New York, they understand
- 46:26Speaker 2: what the situation is that they're in. They get a
- 46:30Speaker 2: different perspective. And now they got a taste in it.
- 46:32Speaker 2: Now they got skin in the game. Now they got
- 46:34Speaker 2: an investment and want something to change. You are asking
- 46:37Speaker 2: people who literally cannot vote to make decisions based on voting.
- 46:43Speaker 2: Now you could say, oh, okay, well, the theory in
- 46:46Speaker 2: all of this is obvious. Maybe it is. But the
- 46:48Speaker 2: move is you need to get on the ground and
- 46:51Speaker 2: start working not just on them, but on everybody early.
- 46:54Speaker 2: Because the truth is we slept at the wheel just
- 46:58Speaker 2: a little bit when all these things happened. They never did.
- 47:01Speaker 2: Voting Rights Act passed in 1965. And since 1965, they've
- 47:06Speaker 2: been trying to get that shit rolled back. Now we
- 47:09Speaker 2: jumping up talking about, hey, man, let's have a boycott. No,
- 47:13Speaker 2: let's get on the ground. Let's organize and let's start
- 47:17Speaker 2: thinking about this like a 20 year project. But as
- 47:21Speaker 2: of right now, it feels like all these people are
- 47:24Speaker 2: trying to do is run a transactional game. And the
- 47:29Speaker 2: currency that you're using for the transaction is these young
- 47:33Speaker 2: people and they are too young to be bargaining chips.
- 47:44Speaker 3: All right, Bo, a couple of voicemails. A lot of
- 47:46Speaker 3: good ones. Here is our first.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Hey, Bo, this is Will from Oklahoma City. So I
- 47:54Speaker 1: had this idea. I noticed all the NBA playoffs talk
- 48:00Speaker 1: has been about refs and fouls. And number one, that's
- 48:05Speaker 1: very dorky. But my idea to fix this is, and
- 48:08Speaker 1: it goes across any sports, all refs should be ex-players.
- 48:12Speaker 1: Let me know what you think about that. All right, bye.
- 48:14Speaker 2: All right, so he said all refs should be ex-players.
- 48:20Speaker 3: Ex-players.
- 48:22Speaker 2: I kind of like that. What do you think about that?
- 48:26Speaker 3: I kind of, especially like players who used to be enforcers.
- 48:31Speaker 3: Can you imagine, or players who used to yell at refs.
- 48:33Speaker 3: Can you imagine like KG as a ref?
- 48:36Speaker 2: Oh my God.
- 48:37Speaker 3: Or like Rajon Rondo as a ref.
- 48:41Speaker 2: I feel like that would wind up being an extension
- 48:44Speaker 2: of these guys now being in the media.
- 48:47Speaker 3: It would turn into wrestling very quickly.
- 48:50Speaker 2: Yes.
- 48:51Speaker 3: Yes.
- 48:51Speaker 2: But like these guys, like everything is different. Like on
- 48:54Speaker 2: the wire is season five when Jimmy McNulty became the boss.
- 48:57Speaker 3: Right.
- 48:57Speaker 2: He's like, Hey man, this is not what I thought
- 49:00Speaker 2: it was. I don't, I think the refs, if they weren't,
- 49:03Speaker 2: you know, losing their jobs as a result of this,
- 49:05Speaker 2: I think the refs would love this as much, if
- 49:09Speaker 2: not more than anybody else. Even if it was just like,
- 49:11Speaker 2: we going to do it for like a week.
- 49:13Speaker 3: Just to punish him. Like, like instead of Luca being suspended,
- 49:16Speaker 3: he has to be a ref for a game.
- 49:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, let's just go see it. well the other
- 49:19Speaker 2: thing that happened that's gonna happen too is now we
- 49:22Speaker 2: gonna see refs fighting Right? Like, now we go see
- 49:27Speaker 2: refs and players scrapping it out.
- 49:29Speaker 3: Again, wrestling.
- 49:31Speaker 2: Yes, yes. You know what? Great idea, Will, from Oklahoma City.
- 49:36Speaker 2: And the best part is, if the refs were all
- 49:39Speaker 2: former players, although that would be a really bad economic move, like,
- 49:44Speaker 2: let some other people get some money, right? Yeah, for sure.
- 49:46Speaker 2: But if the refs were former players, then your beloved
- 49:50Speaker 2: Blue Devils would not be able to get away with
- 49:52Speaker 2: so much of this jankiness.
- 49:54Speaker 3: All right, here's our next one.
- 49:55Speaker 5: Hi, good morning. This is Carter from Brooklyn, New York.
- 50:00Speaker 5: I just wanted to say the episode with you and
- 50:05Speaker 5: Spencer Hall, y'all really need to write that book on
- 50:09Speaker 5: where the money is from because I knew the money
- 50:12Speaker 5: came from somewhere. I just didn't know it got that
- 50:14Speaker 5: deep in certain schools and certain conferences. I love to learn,
- 50:18Speaker 5: and when you know what you're watching, you see it differently.
- 50:23Speaker 5: All right, man? Keep doing your thing.
- 50:26Speaker 1: Have a great day.
- 50:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I appreciate you saying that. And I really think
- 50:32Speaker 2: that me and Spencer might need to like look into this.
- 50:35Speaker 3: It's at least an extended podcast series.
- 50:37Speaker 1: Yes.
- 50:38Speaker 2: I tell you this though. I would need to get
- 50:40Speaker 2: my weight up. It would not be hard to tell
- 50:43Speaker 2: what Spencer wrote and what I wrote. And I don't
- 50:47Speaker 2: need that in a fashion that is complimentary to myself.
- 50:51Speaker 3: All right. Here's our last one.
- 50:54Speaker 4: Hey, what's up, y'all? This is Eric calling in from
- 50:57Speaker 4: Los Angeles, California. I just started doing deliveries for a dispensary,
- 51:04Speaker 4: and I really, really hate my job. Not exactly how
- 51:07Speaker 4: I want to be making a living, but I just
- 51:11Speaker 4: got laid off from my job, and I didn't feel
- 51:13Speaker 4: like depleting my savings, so I decided to pick up
- 51:17Speaker 4: some hourly work to just keep myself financially steady. So,
- 51:21Speaker 4: As I've alluded to earlier, not really a fan of
- 51:24Speaker 4: my job. So I do little things to help pass
- 51:27Speaker 4: the time in my eight-hour shift. So one of the
- 51:31Speaker 4: funniest things or one of the things that I do
- 51:33Speaker 4: is when a name pops up for a cannabis delivery,
- 51:38Speaker 4: I decide– well, not decide. I basically try to guess
- 51:43Speaker 4: if this person is black or white. And so I
- 51:46Speaker 4: would get John Smith. Michael Johnson, just like Saturdays here
- 51:50Speaker 4: and there, and I just guessed that they're black or white.
