- 0:56Speaker 1: black eyes are getting better. I still look like I'm
- 0:58Speaker 1: wearing some sort of makeup or something like that. I
- 1:00Speaker 1: look like an idiot, but still look It's that that's
- 1:05Speaker 1: not new at all. Jeff Warren, I'm here my buddy
- 1:08Speaker 1: Eric Leonard known as edgecomb Stan on YouTube. Check us
- 1:13Speaker 1: out on YouTube, and yeah, buddy, it's great to see you.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Thanks for jumping on here YouTube. Man.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Yeah, it's we We snap each other every now and again.
- 1:25Speaker 3: I'm friends with like five people. That's the only way
- 1:28Speaker 3: my daughter will communicate, so I have to be on.
- 1:30Speaker 2: That's what the twins do too.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Like seriously, I have like I have streaks going with
- 1:34Speaker 1: the twins. I have snapped streaks.
- 1:39Speaker 2: I had.
- 1:39Speaker 3: I had a streak going with my daughter and it
- 1:43Speaker 3: broke the one day, and you know, she was I
- 1:45Speaker 3: think she sent me something like daddy can renew it
- 1:47Speaker 3: for two dollars.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, restore it. From two dollars.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Exactly, I'm forty nine a streak.
- 1:56Speaker 4: They did.
- 1:56Speaker 1: The Twins get upset when we're like, we'll go like
- 1:58Speaker 1: we'll have like seventy will be in like the seventies
- 2:01Speaker 1: or something, which is like nothing for kids these days.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Like, Dad, you just ruined the streak. You just ruined it.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Listen, you and I are weird about certain things. We
- 2:11Speaker 3: have not phobia's OCD, so it's less than that. But yeah,
- 2:15Speaker 3: like the the volume has to be in an even number. Yes,
- 2:19Speaker 3: my alarm has to be in an odd it's just whatever.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Oh god. Yeah, but I.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Have too many of those to worry about a streak. Ye,
- 2:28Speaker 2: I can't exactly. I've got to know anyone. I wanted
- 2:31Speaker 2: to say.
- 2:32Speaker 3: You sent me one and you had a Santa Claus
- 2:35Speaker 3: thing going on the filter? Yes, and I just I
- 2:38Speaker 3: just responded someone punched stand in.
- 2:40Speaker 2: The face, double block us. That's for something, didn't get it,
- 2:49Speaker 2: gave the price. Yes, you did get me a snapchat.
- 2:55Speaker 1: You broke the streak sand Yes, Well, we got a
- 2:59Speaker 1: great show this week, folks. We're gonna be diving into
- 3:01Speaker 1: some Eagles and NFL talk right off the bat. Of course,
- 3:04Speaker 1: we gotta get an Eagles offense. I mean, it's it's
- 3:07Speaker 1: what we're all talking about in terms of what's going
- 3:11Speaker 1: on with this team. We're also gonna dive into the
- 3:13Speaker 1: fact that Philip Rivers is returning to football to play
- 3:15Speaker 1: quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts. So got a ton of
- 3:18Speaker 1: Phillies talk, as Kyle Schwarber is coming back, Rob Thompson
- 3:22Speaker 1: has been given an extension to manage this team through
- 3:25Speaker 1: the twenty twenty seven season, and we're also gonna get
- 3:28Speaker 1: into how Major League Baseball is handling the steroids air
- 3:32Speaker 1: in terms of the Hall of Fame. Gonna dive into that,
- 3:35Speaker 1: and also a ton of Sixers talk. Eric and I
- 3:39Speaker 1: are gonna specifically talk about whether or not the Sixers
- 3:41Speaker 1: should look to sign Malik Beasley once he actually becomes
- 3:45Speaker 1: available to possibly help with their three point shooting, and
- 3:48Speaker 1: then more Sixers talk. What we're thrown down on the
- 3:50Speaker 1: table is a great discussion with Sean Bernard, good friend
- 3:54Speaker 1: of the pod from Fox Sports Phillies The Gambler, and
- 3:56Speaker 1: as a contributor over at DraftKings as well. We're gonna
- 3:59Speaker 1: be discussed and the Sixers in detail as we're heading
- 4:02Speaker 1: into mid December here, So buddy, let's get into this
- 4:05Speaker 1: Eagles team here, and first and foremost, we got some
- 4:08Speaker 1: listener feedback this week from our friend Lou down to Washington,
- 4:13Speaker 1: d C. Now, I didn't necessarily agree with what Lou
- 4:18Speaker 1: was saying here, I'm gonna just say that right off
- 4:21Speaker 1: the bat, I think it was a I think it's
- 4:23Speaker 1: a little out there, Lou, But you wrote us and
- 4:26Speaker 1: I want to dive into it here. Eric wants to
- 4:28Speaker 1: get into it as well. It's about the Eagles defense, folks,
- 4:32Speaker 1: Lou says. I know the d played mostly well and
- 4:35Speaker 1: the offense had tons of failures, but on your postgame show,
- 4:38Speaker 1: you ignored the fact that the Eagles were winning with
- 4:41Speaker 1: two minutes and twenty seconds left in the game, and
- 4:43Speaker 1: the defense let the Chargers march into easy field goal
- 4:47Speaker 1: range to tie the game. Then they allowed the same
- 4:50Speaker 1: thing to happen in overtime. Yes, Jalen played like crap,
- 4:53Speaker 1: Yes AJ came up small. Yes the offense was predictable.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Yes they should have run around the edge and that
- 5:00Speaker 1: of up the middle, but they still had the lead,
- 5:03Speaker 1: and the defense failed when it mattered most. Lou from
- 5:07Speaker 1: Washington DC, Lou very much appreciate you, my friend, very much,
- 5:11Speaker 1: appreciate you reaching out to us here. But I gotta
- 5:14Speaker 1: tell you this, my friend, No, the Eagles did not
- 5:18Speaker 1: lose because this defense gave up only nineteen points. It's
- 5:23Speaker 1: only nineteen points just after being put in a terrible
- 5:27Speaker 1: position time and time again after the offense. I mean,
- 5:31Speaker 1: I understand where you're coming from. Yes, some plays were
- 5:34Speaker 1: given up by the defense, but I don't know what
- 5:37Speaker 1: more the defense actually could have done to put the
- 5:39Speaker 1: team in a good position to win that game.
- 5:41Speaker 2: At the end of the day.
- 5:43Speaker 1: We're certainly going to get into the offense in a
- 5:44Speaker 1: little bit here, but I don't know. That's where I'm
- 5:47Speaker 1: coming from. I don't know, Lou. I think you might
- 5:49Speaker 1: be taking things out a little too much on this
- 5:50Speaker 1: Eagles defense that has really been the driving force of
- 5:55Speaker 1: this twenty twenty five team.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I don't know what are your thoughts here.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Eric, I'm not ture, please work, Sorry, Fargo, it's far.
- 6:05Speaker 3: His name is Lou, Yes, no, Lou think obviously, thank
- 6:08Speaker 3: you for writing, because you know we don't get a
- 6:11Speaker 3: ton of those right. Anyone takes the time to sit
- 6:13Speaker 3: down and write us is fantastic, So thank you.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Okay in our book.
- 6:18Speaker 3: Yeah, And you know football's uh it's a three way sport, right,
- 6:23Speaker 3: I mean the offense, defense, special teams, And out of
- 6:26Speaker 3: the three, I'd have to put the defense in third
- 6:29Speaker 3: place in terms of like who lost this game, offense
- 6:32Speaker 3: being number one, special team's number two. With Jake Ellie
- 6:35Speaker 3: missing that field goal, this might.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Be his last year, by the way, like since last year. Man,
- 6:40Speaker 1: he's like, this might be his last year as an Eagle. Yeah,
- 6:43Speaker 1: it's starting to feel that way. No kicker goes forever,
- 6:48Speaker 1: and you know this has that This has that gamey feeling.
- 6:53Speaker 1: You know when when you know people get older, they
- 6:56Speaker 1: start to smell different, and.
- 7:00Speaker 2: You know it just it has that feel.
- 7:02Speaker 3: And I've watched enough football are You're like, Okay, if
- 7:05Speaker 3: he misses, if he misses like two or three more
- 7:07Speaker 3: down the stretch, he's he's cooked. But anyway, I do
- 7:11Speaker 3: think the defense was third on the list of who
- 7:13Speaker 3: to blame for this loss. And you know, you almost
- 7:17Speaker 3: have to give him credit for jailing Carter not being
- 7:19Speaker 3: in the lineup, absolutely holding and holding that team to
- 7:22Speaker 3: nineteen points. I know Herbert's hand was left hand was broken,
- 7:27Speaker 3: but you can't blame Fangio. I mean, if you watch
- 7:30Speaker 3: that game, they were going after his left hand a lot. Yeah,
- 7:34Speaker 3: they sacked him seven times without Carter in the middle,
- 7:37Speaker 3: and I think there was like twelve quarterback hits too.
- 7:39Speaker 3: I think it was somewhere brutal. I don't know how
- 7:42Speaker 3: that got. I don't know how you break your left
- 7:43Speaker 3: hand and play football. Number one, I number two, I
- 7:46Speaker 3: don't know. I take a hit to that broken hand
- 7:48Speaker 3: and not just go crying home, like right, I quit,
- 7:52Speaker 3: mister Harbor, I'm going home.
- 7:54Speaker 2: I know I would. That would be awful.
- 7:57Speaker 3: But Harbaugh's eye, I know you don't like him and all, yeah,
- 8:03Speaker 3: men tell you, but no, I would say the defense
- 8:07Speaker 3: was the last on the list. But I do get
- 8:09Speaker 3: his point though. It's like, you are the better You
- 8:13Speaker 3: are the better squad right now out of the three.
- 8:16Speaker 3: So I gotta come up because I got to come
- 8:17Speaker 3: up biggest in those moments.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, And there were a couple.
- 8:21Speaker 3: I think there was twice they could have got a
- 8:22Speaker 3: turnover in my opinion, and they did not get those.
- 8:25Speaker 3: And they kind of had to play a perfect game
- 8:26Speaker 3: to win this game. Because that's a good point. Yeah,
- 8:29Speaker 3: as we'll get to it. The offense did not help,
- 8:31Speaker 3: including the quarterback.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Absolutely absolutely.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Look thanks so much for the email, buddy, seriously appreciate
- 8:37Speaker 1: you listening and keep sending some emails to us. We'd
- 8:40Speaker 1: love to read them here on the show. Again, Folks,
- 8:42Speaker 1: Philadelphia Sports Table gmail dot com. We'll read your email
- 8:45Speaker 1: here on the show and respond to it. As Eric said, yeah,
- 8:49Speaker 1: we're going to talk about this Eagles offense and and
- 8:52Speaker 1: I guess where do we go with this right now?
- 8:54Speaker 1: I mean, the the the absolute hacks that are on
- 8:57Speaker 1: Philly sports talk radio right now and just trying to
- 9:02Speaker 1: just trying to get everything, just trying to get everybody
- 9:05Speaker 1: all riled up and stuff, like we're already riled up
- 9:08Speaker 1: because the offense sucks in every way possible right now,
- 9:11Speaker 1: and it just feels like the season is essentially over.
- 9:14Speaker 1: It feels like this team is not a contender because
- 9:17Speaker 1: of the offense. But you know, as as you know,
- 9:20Speaker 1: I was checking our Twitter account today and a gentleman
- 9:23Speaker 1: who goes back and forth with us every now and
- 9:26Speaker 1: then was basically I could tell he was frustrated, and
- 9:30Speaker 1: he really, I think, wanted to blame Hurts, and I said, listen,
- 9:32Speaker 1: it's not just Hurts. I mean, this is this is
- 9:36Speaker 1: a coaching problem. This is an execution problem all around.
- 9:40Speaker 1: We're not just talking about hurts. We're talking about execution
- 9:43Speaker 1: from the offensive line, the receivers, even Saquon Barkley as well.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And this is also a game in game decision problem.
- 9:53Speaker 1: This is also a play design problem, Like it's fucking
- 9:55Speaker 1: everything right now with offense, like nothing is working at
- 10:00Speaker 1: this point. And I read a stat recently from our
- 10:03Speaker 1: good friend Mark Scofield over at SB Nation. He wrote
- 10:07Speaker 1: that teams have been stacking the box to stop Saquon
- 10:10Speaker 1: Barkley this year. He has faced eight or more defenders
- 10:13Speaker 1: in the box thirty three point one percent of the
- 10:15Speaker 1: time this season compared to twenty point six percent from
- 10:19Speaker 1: a season ago. And on those runs where teams have
- 10:22Speaker 1: been stacking the box with at least eight defenders this year,
- 10:25Speaker 1: he's averaging two point three yards per carry, which is
- 10:27Speaker 1: a huge dip from four point five yards per carry
- 10:31Speaker 1: against lighter boxes. So that's part of the problem as well.
- 10:35Speaker 1: And when you have an offensive line that just is
- 10:37Speaker 1: not sinking up, there's the chemistry just isn't there as well.
- 10:41Speaker 1: That creates a problem all round for the run game.
- 10:47Speaker 1: And then for the passing game as well. And it
- 10:49Speaker 1: creates a problem with Jalen Hurts and this coaching staff
- 10:52Speaker 1: where if they're stacking the box with eight defenders thirty
- 10:56Speaker 1: three point one percent of the time, Jalen Hurts needs
- 10:58Speaker 1: to be able to get the ball down the field
- 11:01Speaker 1: and he's not doing it either because for whatever reason
- 11:04Speaker 1: he's not able to in a moment, or the coaching
- 11:07Speaker 1: staff is telling him, no, you're gonna run this play,
- 11:09Speaker 1: and that's how it's going to be. Things are just
- 11:12Speaker 1: broken everywhere. There's no easy answers, there's no easy solutions.
- 11:15Speaker 1: There's no silver bullet here.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Eric.
- 11:16Speaker 1: So, I don't know, I just it just doesn't feel
- 11:19Speaker 1: like this team is a contender because this offense is
- 11:21Speaker 1: just floundering.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Yeah, and I hate to give poopoo holes some credit here.
- 11:29Speaker 3: I didn't think his game. I didn't think the game
- 11:32Speaker 3: scheme was that bad. Yeah, Monday night, I just and
- 11:37Speaker 3: you know, I know they stacked the box against Sparkley
- 11:39Speaker 3: and you just read the stat but he had a
- 11:42Speaker 3: great game, honestly, But this, honestly just falls on the
- 11:46Speaker 3: shoulders of the quarterback this particular game.
- 11:48Speaker 2: I'm not going to sit here and all the turnovers.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Yeah, all the turnovers. Absolutely, it was. It was horrendous.
- 11:54Speaker 1: But Josh Shuster, our friend who did the postgame show
- 11:57Speaker 1: with me, I mean, Jalen Hurts, got an F. I
- 11:58Speaker 1: mean that that's the great game.
- 12:01Speaker 3: I'm glad he didn't ask me to do the post
- 12:02Speaker 3: game because I would have been an absolute bitch.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Oh, I know, there's a reason I didn't.
- 12:08Speaker 3: The game ended at twelve fifteen. I stayed up for it.
- 12:10Speaker 3: I had to watch the Monsters inc Yeah, broadcasts, just
- 12:15Speaker 3: to stay interested because it was it was just such
- 12:17Speaker 3: a bad game.
- 12:18Speaker 2: But the Chargers weren't great either. Yeah. I've known you
- 12:20Speaker 2: for over twenty five years. I know you were.
- 12:22Speaker 3: There's no way doing the post game shit, and not
- 12:24Speaker 3: that one, now one that would have been a everyone
- 12:27Speaker 3: gets an F. I'm going to bed, Yes, I mean
- 12:31Speaker 3: I don't. When's last time a quarterback had two turnovers
- 12:33Speaker 3: on the same possession like that? No, it hasn't happened
- 12:36Speaker 3: since I started tracking that, since nineteen seventy eight. No,
- 12:39Speaker 3: and there's for how many shitty quarterbacks have played since
- 12:43Speaker 3: that year.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Especially for the Browns.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, especially for the Eagles in the nineties. But
- 12:48Speaker 3: I can't believe it's never happened. But yeah, he pulled
- 12:52Speaker 3: it off. And if he doesn't get his shit together, yeah, essentially,
- 12:58Speaker 3: let me just look at the standings quick. We can
- 13:00Speaker 3: talk about the offense all we wanted. It sucked. You
- 13:03Speaker 3: hope they do better next week. They have a horrible
- 13:05Speaker 3: Raiders team come into town. There's no easy answers. Yeah
- 13:08Speaker 3: that should be Yeah, there are no easy answers. He
- 13:11Speaker 3: just he has to play better. They should beat the
- 13:13Speaker 3: Raiders by thirty points if he doesn't turn the ball over.
- 13:16Speaker 2: That's one. But right, you said the standings.
- 13:19Speaker 3: You wanted to just take a look at the stand because,
- 13:21Speaker 3: like I said, at the offense is what do you say? Yeah,
- 13:24Speaker 3: but like here's the sad thing. You want to say.
- 13:28Speaker 3: The season is done. They're not contenders, but I mean
- 13:33Speaker 3: I almost guarantee they're going to win the NFC East
- 13:36Speaker 3: and probably be the third seed.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:39Speaker 3: I see him winning three of their last four, even
- 13:42Speaker 3: even playing this poorly. I could see it because they
- 13:44Speaker 3: have the Commanders, the Commanders twice twice, yeah twice, who
- 13:49Speaker 3: against Marcus Mariota for God's sakes, and the Raiders, and
- 13:52Speaker 3: they're going to have to Buffalo the Bill. That's gonna
- 13:54Speaker 3: be a loss. If you look at Dallas's remaining remaining games,
- 13:58Speaker 3: they're not they're not playing too many good teams. But
- 14:02Speaker 3: that team so up and down. I think just by
- 14:03Speaker 3: the fall we're going to win. And if things play
- 14:05Speaker 3: out the way they do, they actually play like like Chicago. Agree,
- 14:10Speaker 3: if it ended today, you know, this could very well
- 14:13Speaker 3: end like right the way it is right now, the
- 14:16Speaker 3: Bears go to Green Bay, Seattle plays Tampa or Carolina.
- 14:20Speaker 3: That's going to be an absolute blowout by Seattle, and
- 14:23Speaker 3: then the Eagles will play the forty nine ers right now,
- 14:28Speaker 3: And that's if you have to pick from Chicago Seattle.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Give me the Niners every week.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Yes, So like, unfortunately we want to sit here and
- 14:40Speaker 3: say they're not contenders anymore. But like, if it plays
- 14:43Speaker 3: out the way I think it's going to, they're going
- 14:44Speaker 3: to have a first round home game against the Niners,
- 14:46Speaker 3: who they could beat. Their defense is decimated, their offenses
- 14:52Speaker 3: can be good. You know, they haven't played anybody for
- 14:55Speaker 3: a while, and unfortunately I could see him winning that game.
- 15:00Speaker 3: When an NC is winning that game, and then everybody's
- 15:04Speaker 3: back on the train, Yes, and then that's when everything's
- 15:07Speaker 3: going to fall apart and you're like.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Oh, they're not contenders because.
- 15:12Speaker 3: They would wind up playing like you know, they might
- 15:14Speaker 3: play Green Bears, but a team they could beat as well.
- 15:18Speaker 3: That's the crazy thing, Like, that's unfortunately I want to
- 15:21Speaker 3: say they're not contenders. I don't think they would beat
- 15:25Speaker 3: they won't beat they.
- 15:28Speaker 2: I don't think they beat the Rams.
- 15:29Speaker 3: I don't think it beat the Patriots, the Bills that
- 15:30Speaker 3: they actually made the Super Bowl.
- 15:33Speaker 2: But unfortunately, you.
- 15:35Speaker 3: Want to just it's one of those things like I
- 15:37Speaker 3: don't want to get my heart broken.
- 15:38Speaker 2: I know you can't.
- 15:40Speaker 3: They won the title last year, but at the same time,
- 15:42Speaker 3: you're getting back into it and I could see them
- 15:44Speaker 3: winning a couple and winning that first game in the
- 15:46Speaker 3: playoffs and then everyone's like, I.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Knew all along, we got I knew it, we got this.
- 15:51Speaker 2: You know what's going to happen is right around the corner.
- 15:54Speaker 2: You know they were going to get it together.
- 15:56Speaker 3: And then they're not going to get it together. Actually,
- 15:58Speaker 3: that's what's good. This team has been so inconsistent and
- 16:01Speaker 3: not enough has been said. I'm sure there has been,
- 16:03Speaker 3: but Nick Sirianni I saw multiple people on Twitter the
- 16:08Speaker 3: past few games that Eagles played, like does his team
- 16:11Speaker 3: practice during the week, like they just look so unprepared.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Poopoo holes has not been great. But where is Nick's
- 16:21Speaker 3: accountability and all this?
- 16:22Speaker 1: Because he talks about all the time he really does,
- 16:24Speaker 1: you know, he he's culpable in this as well. Like
- 16:28Speaker 1: big time, there's just the you can take like a
- 16:31Speaker 1: pie chart and the percentages of everybody who's responsible. Everybody's
- 16:34Speaker 1: in there to like a certain degree in a certain level,
- 16:37Speaker 1: and I don't think there's one that is the absolute
- 16:40Speaker 1: majority of the problem. It's like it's it's all even
- 16:43Speaker 1: from the offensive line to guys missing catches or not
- 16:48Speaker 1: running routes hard enough, or whether it's hurts and his
- 16:52Speaker 1: turnovers recently, everybody on the offense is culpable.
- 16:56Speaker 2: But I yeah, yeah, I mean, if.
- 16:58Speaker 3: There's a blame pie you want to call it, I mean,
- 17:01Speaker 3: I think Vic Fangio gets a I'm trying to watch
- 17:04Speaker 3: my figure slice, he gets a really tiny one. But
- 17:09Speaker 3: I think I think Sirianni gets the largest slice out
- 17:11Speaker 3: of everybody, because yeah, once you felt the offense floundering
- 17:16Speaker 3: like weak freaking what do we say the beginning of
- 17:18Speaker 3: the year, like the offense will come together. By week four,
- 17:21Speaker 3: we should be good. Yes, And it just kept going
- 17:23Speaker 3: and going, and it was like, where's the head guy
- 17:25Speaker 3: in charge? It'd be like, Yo, we're champions.
- 17:29Speaker 2: This is bullshit. I'm gonna say this. Yeah, I'm going
- 17:32Speaker 2: to say this too.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Okay, this offensive line, the injuries are important because I
- 17:38Speaker 1: was actually thinking about it today and reflecting after this
- 17:40Speaker 1: past week because look, I mean the team that the
- 17:44Speaker 1: Eagle that beat the Eagles this week, they had a
- 17:48Speaker 1: ton of injuries on their offensive line. This Chargers team
- 17:52Speaker 1: had a bunch of injuries and their interior offensive line
- 17:54Speaker 1: just sucked and they've sucked all year. Biggest weakness on
- 17:58Speaker 1: the team but the Eagles in their injuries. It seems
- 18:03Speaker 1: like when you have a couple guys who are nursing injuries,
- 18:06Speaker 1: you have Lane Johnson go down, everything falls apart. The
- 18:09Speaker 1: wheels absolutely come off. Jeff Stoutlin is a fantastic offensive
- 18:14Speaker 1: line coach, probably the best in the entire league. And
- 18:16Speaker 1: the fact that he hasn't necessarily been able to quote
- 18:19Speaker 1: figure it out at this point as we're heading into
- 18:22Speaker 1: week fifteen, there is something to be said about that.
- 18:24Speaker 1: And I don't think that's getting enough attention to the
- 18:28Speaker 1: injuries are a real thing, and these guys are not
- 18:31Speaker 1: able to play how they need to. When you're being
- 18:33Speaker 1: asked when you've got whatever back injury or a calf injury,
- 18:37Speaker 1: and you're being told that on a play you have
- 18:39Speaker 1: to go two plus gaps over to get some sort
- 18:43Speaker 1: of to block an end who is just coming at
- 18:47Speaker 1: you full force.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Like it. There are certain things that are just not.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Possible for you to have a positive outcome at the
- 18:53Speaker 1: end of a play if you're an offensive lineman injured
- 18:56Speaker 1: trying to do those things. So I think there's more
- 18:58Speaker 1: to be said for that. Jeff Stotlin's awesome. We know
- 19:01Speaker 1: he is year after year after year, and the fact
- 19:03Speaker 1: that he hasn't been able to figure it out. I
- 19:05Speaker 1: think the injury issue is actually a bigger deal on
- 19:08Speaker 1: the offensive line than a lot of us are really
- 19:11Speaker 1: talking about. Yeah, and the Lion last year was just
- 19:16Speaker 1: so dominant. There's no holes, you know, and you know,
- 19:19Speaker 1: you see Stalin still has it. You know, he's an
- 19:22Speaker 1: older guy, but like you know, Mackai Beckdam leaves town
- 19:24Speaker 1: and he turns into a ball of shit.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean obviously, Yeah, Jordan Davis was killing him
- 19:31Speaker 3: on Oh my God, he was absolutely murdering him on
- 19:35Speaker 3: Sunday Monday. Jordan Davis is just I so many kudos
- 19:41Speaker 3: to that guy. Yeah, had a sack in this game.
- 19:44Speaker 3: You know, their running game was not overly powerful in
- 19:48Speaker 3: the second half. You know, the first half they got
- 19:49Speaker 3: some good runs with Omar and return to the lineup,
- 19:53Speaker 3: but to lose thirty pounds and just he's I think
- 19:56Speaker 3: he's easily one of the most improved players in the
- 19:58Speaker 3: league and he was already good. But I again this,
- 20:03Speaker 3: I think this offense is going to pick it up
- 20:04Speaker 3: a little bit, get us all interested, and then break
- 20:08Speaker 3: down that they go down that road of yeah, and
- 20:11Speaker 3: I'll be on this. I'll be on a show with
- 20:12Speaker 3: you on a mid January and.
- 20:15Speaker 2: We'll be like, what do we do now? Yeah?
- 20:19Speaker 3: Who poo holes has to go? Yanni stick around and
- 20:22Speaker 3: I kind of creiate.
- 20:23Speaker 1: So yeah, Well, before we go to our first break,
- 20:25Speaker 1: we also wanted to talk about the fact that there's
- 20:28Speaker 1: a grandfather, folks. There's a grandfather that's going to be
- 20:31Speaker 1: a starting quarterback in the NFL this week, and he's
- 20:35Speaker 1: none other than Philip Rivers. He is back in the
- 20:37Speaker 1: NFL playing quarterback for the sam I'm sorry for the
- 20:41Speaker 1: Indianapolis Colts at the age of forty four. My god,
- 20:45Speaker 1: just real quick, Like I just, I just I don't
- 20:49Speaker 1: get you love the game that much at forty four
- 20:51Speaker 1: that you want to like get back into this the
- 20:53Speaker 1: way he is going to be getting hit. He hasn't picked,
- 20:57Speaker 1: He hasn't been under center in the NFL for five
- 21:00Speaker 1: fucking years. He kidding me, Like, I just I don't
- 21:04Speaker 1: necessarily understand it. Yes, people love certain things in their life.
- 21:08Speaker 1: I would imagine that if you're one of the best
- 21:10Speaker 1: quarterbacks that has played the game in our modern era
- 21:14Speaker 1: and in our contemporary history, you'll probably miss it. You
- 21:18Speaker 1: probably have a lot of nostalgia week after week after
- 21:20Speaker 1: week during the course of the season. Say, man, I'd
- 21:22Speaker 1: really love to get back out there on the field,
- 21:24Speaker 1: But man, I just don't know how this is gonna
- 21:27Speaker 1: go for this guy. Seriously, he might be broken two
- 21:29Speaker 1: weeks from now, and maybe he is in great shape.
- 21:32Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Maybe he is, but still forty four. And like you said,
- 21:36Speaker 1: he's a grandfather at forty four too.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Interesting, So I don't know what are your thoughts before
- 21:43Speaker 1: we go to break here man.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Well, first of all, he's forty four. My brother's forty
- 21:47Speaker 3: five and gray as a mule.
- 21:49Speaker 2: So yes, it's like.
- 21:51Speaker 3: My brother's strapping him back, you know, putting this straps
- 21:53Speaker 3: back on. Yeah, you talk about the love of the game.
- 21:57Speaker 3: I think it's the hatred of his family. He must
- 21:59Speaker 3: be still annoyed with him. I gotta get out of
- 22:02Speaker 3: this house and his thirty one kids. He just was like,
- 22:05Speaker 3: I gotta get out of here. It sucks like five
- 22:08Speaker 3: years of this. I think he just had one who's
- 22:13Speaker 3: like two or something.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Just kid, Oh my.
- 22:15Speaker 3: God, I can't remember. I was doing research on his family.
- 22:19Speaker 3: I'm like, and as by the sixth kid, I gave up.
- 22:21Speaker 3: I'm like, Jesus Christ, put a put a put a
- 22:25Speaker 3: rap on it. You know what I'm saying, Phil, bag
- 22:29Speaker 3: it up there. You made your point. But I just
- 22:36Speaker 3: can't see this working. And he was one of the
- 22:39Speaker 3: best of all time, I mean best all time, like
- 22:42Speaker 3: top twenty twenty five, like you know, yeah, but that's
- 22:46Speaker 3: you know, that's best all time. And but then I
- 22:50Speaker 3: read you know, he's back, He's in great shape. He
- 22:52Speaker 3: might actually play this Sunday. And I'm just looking at
- 22:54Speaker 3: the I'm just looking at the rest of their schedule.
- 22:56Speaker 3: First of all, they played on Sunday. They played in Seattle. Yes,
- 22:59Speaker 3: who as I think the best defense in the league
- 23:01Speaker 3: besides the Texans. Yeah, and you're gonna go into Seattle
- 23:06Speaker 3: at forty four. I haven't played the game in like
- 23:09Speaker 3: three years.
- 23:09Speaker 2: I wait to see him scramble.
- 23:12Speaker 3: It's gonna be I mean he's gonna be landlocked, yes,
- 23:16Speaker 3: like his legs are tied down with cinder blocks.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:20Speaker 3: And then the last game of the year for the
- 23:21Speaker 3: Colts is at Houston against the best defense.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Was murdering quarterbacks, the Kellen quarterbacks.
- 23:28Speaker 3: He may not even make it to that game, and
- 23:30Speaker 3: if he does, he may never see his ten kids again.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Like that.
- 23:34Speaker 3: I just can't see this working out. But I do
- 23:36Speaker 3: like the story. And I'm always like when Dave Robertson
- 23:39Speaker 3: earlier this year is signed with the Phillies, Yeah, I
- 23:42Speaker 3: think I made the same joke.
- 23:43Speaker 2: I'm like, he must have heard.
- 23:45Speaker 3: He must be in his man cave, the kids are
- 23:46Speaker 3: screaming upstairs, and he's like.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll take the contract. I gotta get out of here.
- 23:53Speaker 3: I think that lady who walks the sideline for the Colts,
- 23:55Speaker 3: the Johnson Notes.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Downs and the owner or whatever. The owner she.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Must have called and he was like, yeah, the kids
- 24:03Speaker 3: are sleeping, five of the kids are sleeping.
- 24:05Speaker 2: I'll be there. I can I get out of here.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Don't let anybody know for another week. Don't tell my wife. Yeah,
- 24:12Speaker 2: I'll be there. Yes, I love it all right.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Well, we are gonna take a break, folks, And if
- 24:19Speaker 1: you are not following us on social media, I think
- 24:23Speaker 1: it's a good idea if you do search up the

- 24:38Speaker 1: like our Facebook page. We're over on threads. Eric and
- 24:40Speaker 1: I are both on Blue Sky. You can search us
- 24:42Speaker 1: out there. And if you're watching on YouTube, like and

- 24:57Speaker 1: being said, you gonna take a break. We're gonna be back.
- 25:00Speaker 1: We've got tons of Phillies talk coming your way. Stick
- 25:02Speaker 1: with us, all right, Eric, I know you're watching the
- 25:06Speaker 1: Lakers and the Spurs right now. Just yeah, yeah, somebody
- 25:10Speaker 1: may have some money on this game here.
- 25:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I might have a couple of shekels on this one.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Keeping an eye on it.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Yes, But look, baseball off season, some movement is actually occurring.
- 25:24Speaker 1: And folks, if you hadn't heard, if you've been living
- 25:27Speaker 1: under a rock, but you're a Phillies fan, Yes, Kyle
- 25:30Speaker 1: Schwarber has re signed with the Philadelphia Phillies. He is
- 25:34Speaker 1: going to be coming back one hundred and fifty million
- 25:36Speaker 1: dollar contract over the course of the next four years.
- 25:41Speaker 1: And I am extremely happy about this because the thought
- 25:45Speaker 1: that he could have been going to the Orioles, because
- 25:47Speaker 1: the Orioles, apparently matched with the Phillies, were going to
- 25:50Speaker 1: give him.
- 25:51Speaker 2: I thought it was interesting.
- 25:51Speaker 1: We talked about on Table Talk show this week about
- 25:54Speaker 1: how the Pirates were looking to possibly bring Schwarber on board.
- 25:58Speaker 1: They were reportedly wanting to give him a million Who
- 26:01Speaker 1: knows if that was for real or not, because again
- 26:03Speaker 1: it's the Pirates, but look, he wanted to be back
- 26:06Speaker 1: in Philly.
- 26:06Speaker 3: What they low balled him. If it's real, I know
- 26:09Speaker 3: they really did. Four years, twenty five. He's never gonna sign.
- 26:12Speaker 2: It, I know, but it really it goes to show,
- 26:17Speaker 2: you know.
- 26:17Speaker 1: It was reported that the Orioles matched what the Phillies
- 26:19Speaker 1: were gonna give him. He wanted to stay here in Philly.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Do you want to? You know, it loves the city
- 26:24Speaker 1: and uh, we've we've got ourselves, so some offense here
- 26:28Speaker 1: over these next four years here Eric.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Yeah, And it's interesting that the Orioles, you know, got
- 26:36Speaker 3: turned down and then went and signed Alonzo for an
- 26:38Speaker 3: extra five million I think on the contract. Yeah, and
- 26:42Speaker 3: he's a year younger, so maybe that that the money
- 26:45Speaker 3: makes sense. But I think they got the better player.
- 26:47Speaker 3: The Phillies got the better player and just one that
- 26:50Speaker 3: like just fits in. He's been here forever.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Yep. That was done.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, And I think that was a done deal
- 26:58Speaker 3: even after the season, like it soon as the season
- 27:00Speaker 3: was over for them.
- 27:02Speaker 2: But there's not much to say.
- 27:04Speaker 3: It's like grad, he's back, he's going to lead off,
- 27:06Speaker 3: He's going to hit forty five home runs or more
- 27:08Speaker 3: game or a season. But now like what now what
- 27:13Speaker 3: what Domino's fall Like that's the part I'm a little
- 27:16Speaker 3: afraid of.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Like, well, now, like what I know, JT Real Muto,
- 27:19Speaker 1: Like it seems like he's next up.
- 27:21Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what I mean. Yeah, I I I
- 27:24Speaker 3: still think he's going to go somewhere else. I think
- 27:27Speaker 3: he's going to get more money somewhere else. Yeah, I think. Uh,
- 27:31Speaker 3: I think Cassiy is going to get traded at some point.
- 27:35Speaker 3: I think Bomb is going to be gone.
- 27:38Speaker 2: You know.
- 27:38Speaker 3: I read the Phillies are still trying to get Kettle Marte,
- 27:42Speaker 3: which you know, what does that mean for Scott Marte
- 27:45Speaker 3: is a second base, second basement so and and but
- 27:49Speaker 3: then but you also signed Schobert and that kind of
- 27:51Speaker 3: takes you out of the market for you know, you're
- 27:53Speaker 3: not going to sign Kyle Tucker.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Now.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Ranger Swarez is almost as good as gone, which I've
- 27:58Speaker 3: said on the show. I think twice into the season
- 28:00Speaker 3: was over. I think that's kind of a foregone conclusion. Yeah,
- 28:03Speaker 3: scary scary proposition, though, given the the flimsiness of the
- 28:08Speaker 3: starting lineup the starting pitching next year, no one knows
- 28:12Speaker 3: when Wheelers coming back. Aaron Nola appears to possibly be
- 28:16Speaker 3: toast Sanchez is great. Uh, what's the other kid's name?
- 28:22Speaker 3: The left I'm sorry, uh, pa, well him, we have
- 28:27Speaker 3: no idea if he's any good, right, And uh, who's
- 28:30Speaker 3: the other lefty? I'm sorry he's Lozardo and the other one. No,
- 28:35Speaker 3: you're right, I got it now. Sorry Lizardo, my bad.
- 28:39Speaker 3: But yeah, like in Lozardo might have been a one
- 28:42Speaker 3: like a shooting star situation. We have no idea if
- 28:44Speaker 3: he's going to be any good next year. So for
- 28:46Speaker 3: Suarez to go, it's like, Man, I don't I love
- 28:49Speaker 3: bringing back Schwoerbert. You almost had to do it, But
- 28:52Speaker 3: what does that mean for the rest of the roster now?
- 28:53Speaker 3: Like the swarrest thing is the biggest gamble of losing him? Yeah, where,
- 29:00Speaker 3: I don't know what the hell you're going to do.
- 29:02Speaker 3: We are starting pitching next year before Wheeler comes back.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Scares me. Well.
- 29:07Speaker 1: The one thing that did happen as well, aside from
- 29:09Speaker 1: Kyle Schwarber, is this, This front office absolutely loves Rob Thompson.
- 29:16Speaker 2: They absolutely love him.
- 29:17Speaker 1: They've extended him through the twenty twenty seven season. Rob
- 29:21Speaker 1: Thompson has a record a record since taking over as
- 29:26Speaker 1: the Phillies manager in twenty twenty two of three hundred
- 29:30Speaker 1: and forty six wins two hundred and fifty one losses,
- 29:34Speaker 1: and his five hundred and eighty career winning percentage is
- 29:38Speaker 1: the best best of any qualified Phillies manager. And I
- 29:44Speaker 1: don't know, Eric, and maybe maybe you have another angle
- 29:47Speaker 1: on this.
- 29:47Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 29:48Speaker 1: We didn't talk about this at all prior. There's a
- 29:51Speaker 1: lot of dislike out there for Rob Thompson. For some reason,
- 29:55Speaker 1: he's been the most successful Phillies manager, and there are
- 29:59Speaker 1: people that say, oh, with all the talent on this team,
- 30:01Speaker 1: you know, we should be successful. I don't necessarily see that.
- 30:05Speaker 1: I can understand the argument, but there have been plenty
- 30:08Speaker 1: of managers over the years in professional baseball outside of
- 30:12Speaker 1: the Phillies organization that have had really great rosters who
- 30:14Speaker 1: absolutely sucked, didn't do a great job. I mean, for
- 30:17Speaker 1: God's sakes, we had Joe Girardi here, and I mean
- 30:20Speaker 1: that seems like, I know, it seems like so long ago,
- 30:22Speaker 1: and he had pretty talented teams and did absolutely nothing.
- 30:26Speaker 1: He really sucked. I like Rob Thompson, I do. I
- 30:31Speaker 1: think he has been a pretty damn good manager for
- 30:34Speaker 1: this team, and I'm happy to hear about the extension
- 30:39Speaker 1: through the twenty twenty seven season.
- 30:40Speaker 2: What about you? Who else you going to bring in?
- 30:43Speaker 1: Well, that's a great question, yes, like who else? Like
- 30:46Speaker 1: what's the alternative here?
- 30:47Speaker 3: It's always like, oh, there's always something better out there.
- 30:49Speaker 3: It's like, well we have he's almost as a six
- 30:52Speaker 3: hundred winning percentage. Yeah, through how many seasons now? And
- 30:57Speaker 3: what were your options beyond that?
- 30:59Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 30:59Speaker 3: He knows the team well, the players besides Castiano's really
- 31:04Speaker 3: like him and he's hard on them. You know, he
- 31:08Speaker 3: got him to a World Series and it's like what
- 31:12Speaker 3: there was there was no other option and plus but
- 31:14Speaker 3: also at the same time, like even for the haters,
- 31:17Speaker 3: you know, it's only through twenty twenty seven, it's only
- 31:19Speaker 3: two year extension basic, right, we think him a ten
- 31:22Speaker 3: year extension for God's sake to relax everybody and people
- 31:25Speaker 3: forget like Charlie Manuel before two thousand and seven, people
- 31:31Speaker 3: hated Charlie Manuel.
- 31:32Speaker 2: They wanted him gone. Yes, he was there for what
- 31:36Speaker 2: two or three years?
- 31:37Speaker 3: And I mean I remember the running with Howard Eskin
- 31:40Speaker 3: back in the day that got really ugly. Yeah, And
- 31:42Speaker 3: I used to listen to six to ten all the
- 31:43Speaker 3: time back then. He no one liked him, like, let's
- 31:46Speaker 3: just say it out loud. He was, he was despised,
- 31:49Speaker 3: and then seven happened, oh eight, and so on, and
- 31:51Speaker 3: now he's Uncle Charlie. And if Rob Thompson somehow wins
- 31:55Speaker 3: a World Series with this team, he'll be Uncle Rob. Yeah,
- 31:58Speaker 3: you know, that's that's just the way it is. He's
- 32:01Speaker 3: the best option for this team. And again it's only
- 32:03Speaker 3: to your extension.
- 32:04Speaker 1: So yeah, all right, well look, before you know, we
- 32:08Speaker 1: get to some sixers talk. In terms of major League
- 32:11Speaker 1: Baseball talk, I read a tweet from Buster Only, and
- 32:15Speaker 1: I thought, you know what, let's put this on the
- 32:16Speaker 1: podcast show this coming week because I think it's an
- 32:20Speaker 1: interesting storyline about baseball, the state of baseball, the mentality
- 32:25Speaker 1: of Major League Baseball, the Hall of Fame as well.
- 32:29Speaker 1: So Buster Only said in a tweet about former Major
- 32:32Speaker 1: League Baseball players who took pds and steroids. He said, quote,
- 32:36Speaker 1: a great gesture of leadership would occur when current Hall
- 32:40Speaker 1: of famers who use pds, greenies, steroids, whatever, just came
- 32:45Speaker 1: out and explained what they did and why it would
- 32:49Speaker 1: move the Hall of Fame to a place when it
- 32:52Speaker 1: could finally acknowledge the reality of what happened in the
- 32:55Speaker 1: industry for twenty plus years. Rather than absurdly pretending that
- 33:00Speaker 1: Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens were outliers, we wanted to give
- 33:04Speaker 1: our thoughts on this because Buster Only here has a
- 33:07Speaker 1: fantastic argument. In my opinion, why can't Major League Baseball,
- 33:13Speaker 1: the Hall of Fame, this entire cog and network figure
- 33:17Speaker 1: this out? Eric, It's like, why can't they figure something
- 33:21Speaker 1: like this out? What Buster Only said there, it's easy.
- 33:24Speaker 1: It is easy to move on from this narrative. For
- 33:28Speaker 1: all these years, these decades that US baseball fans have
- 33:33Speaker 1: been having to hear this narrative. These players who are
- 33:36Speaker 1: great players, they are great players, and who need to
- 33:41Speaker 1: acknowledge something that absolutely happened that we all know that
- 33:44Speaker 1: happened and put it to rest. I thought it was
- 33:48Speaker 1: really interesting. I just wanted to bring it up on
- 33:50Speaker 1: the show. I don't know if you have any thoughts
- 33:52Speaker 1: with it, because I think that it's very I thought
- 33:54Speaker 1: it was insightful from Olney to really dive into this. Yes,
- 34:00Speaker 1: so it was Twitter, so take it from what it's worth.
- 34:02Speaker 1: And some of the responses were pretty hilarious as well.
- 34:05Speaker 1: But I don't know what what are your.
- 34:07Speaker 2: Thoughts here on this? Well?
- 34:10Speaker 3: Number one, I always love the term greenies. It's basically
- 34:15Speaker 3: meth in a pill form. It's just speed, yes, but
- 34:19Speaker 3: they give it that nice fun name, so it's not
- 34:21Speaker 3: you know, whatever the make organic you yeah, like nose candy,
- 34:26Speaker 3: we like you know, like yeah toot. But like I
- 34:32Speaker 3: I like the idea. The only the only, the huge
- 34:36Speaker 3: kink in his idea is that these guys have come
- 34:40Speaker 3: out and explain what they did and why. Most of
- 34:44Speaker 3: these guys have flat out said but now, I never
- 34:46Speaker 3: did anything right. No, like like Barry Bonds. At this point,
- 34:51Speaker 3: it's never going to come out and say, yeah, I
- 34:53Speaker 3: did horse piss tranquilizer and it helped me hit all
- 34:57Speaker 3: these home runs, like Roger Clemens. Is never gonna be
- 34:59Speaker 3: like my career was essentially done when I got to Toronto,
- 35:02Speaker 3: but I took this magic elixir and I became amazing.
- 35:06Speaker 3: Like that's the hard part, Like they would have to
- 35:08Speaker 3: actually go and explain to the public. I mean to me,
- 35:14Speaker 3: it's like they already hate you anyway, so who cares?
- 35:16Speaker 1: But that's what I'm That's what I'm saying here, Like
- 35:18Speaker 1: the haters are gonna hate you, But you know what,
- 35:21Speaker 1: why don't you move on from it as well?
- 35:23Speaker 3: Instead of just continuing to dodge it because everybody knows,
- 35:27Speaker 3: you know, everybody else knows as well. Why not just
- 35:31Speaker 3: get it out there. Okay, you fucked up.
- 35:34Speaker 1: You know, you made some shitty decisions, probably even though
- 35:38Speaker 1: it did extend your career and even though you made
- 35:40Speaker 1: millions of more dollars whatever, you know whatever. Just fessing
- 35:44Speaker 1: up to it and being like, yes, this happened. Doing
- 35:47Speaker 1: it in that honest way, I think actually the public
- 35:49Speaker 1: backlash wouldn't be as terrible.
- 35:52Speaker 3: No, but the downside is what if you do admit
- 35:54Speaker 3: it and you don't get into the Hall of Fame, Like, well,
- 35:56Speaker 3: that's where that's where baseball sucks, Like that's where fall
- 36:00Speaker 3: of shitty, you know. So yeah, Like I could see
- 36:03Speaker 3: a Sammy Sosa being like, yeah, I did it, and
- 36:06Speaker 3: they're like, well, you weren't that good? Actually, yeah, all
- 36:09Speaker 3: those home runs you had like four years, we were amazing,
- 36:12Speaker 3: But the rest of your career was like good, But
- 36:13Speaker 3: like you know, you weren't Bonds or Clemens. Yeah, but
- 36:17Speaker 3: I just think, I mean, this is this idea has
- 36:20Speaker 3: been floated out forever. Baseball Hall of Fame, Baseball in general,
- 36:25Speaker 3: never does anything easy. We talked about the Rule five
- 36:27Speaker 3: draft couple and all that shit. Just make the whole
- 36:31Speaker 3: of just just create an outhouse or another separate wing
- 36:35Speaker 3: that's downstairs in the basement for these guys that are
- 36:39Speaker 3: basically like, while they never admitted, we all kind of know, Yeah,
- 36:43Speaker 3: Mark Maguire's bust is down there next to Clemens and
- 36:47Speaker 3: Palmarrow and and Sosa, Like just you know, it's down
- 36:51Speaker 3: the steps through the cobwebs.
- 36:53Speaker 2: Do you want to go see it?
- 36:54Speaker 3: Like we all kind of know what happened, But but
- 36:57Speaker 3: they're in there, because come on, it's there were cheating forever.
- 37:01Speaker 3: There's pure pieces of shit there in the Hall of
- 37:03Speaker 3: Fame like Tai Yes, like like, stop being so self
- 37:07Speaker 3: righteous baseball when you've turned your back and turn your
- 37:11Speaker 3: attention away from all the shitty things that went on anyway, Yeah,
- 37:14Speaker 3: don't act like a high and mighty and pious because
- 37:17Speaker 3: you're part of the you're part of the hypocrisy of
- 37:20Speaker 3: this whole thing anyway.
- 37:21Speaker 1: So yep, absolutely absolutely, I like the idea of like
- 37:24Speaker 1: a separate room.
- 37:25Speaker 2: They call it the.
- 37:25Speaker 1: Greenies Room, the green room, the green Ease room.
- 37:32Speaker 3: There's a big bucket there with with greenies.
- 37:36Speaker 2: We're going in.
- 37:37Speaker 3: Yeah, you just have to have yourself some greenies.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Folks just sweating McGuire's stats.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh, look at these numbers.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 37:50Speaker 1: All right, folks, we're gonna take a break again really
- 37:53Speaker 1: quick here and then we get back.
- 37:55Speaker 2: We got some Sixers talk for you, tons of Sixers talk.
- 37:58Speaker 2: Coming your right, stick with.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Us, all right. Eric was getting a delicious drink there
- 38:03Speaker 1: right as we were going to break. Uh, get sweating
- 38:05Speaker 1: a little bit with this game. Got a parley going, huh.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Spurs are up fourteen? Yeah, oh man, all right, I'm
- 38:13Speaker 2: doing all right, I know something for the effort, you
- 38:15Speaker 2: know there we go right.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Well, I'll put that money back into the show.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Okay, all right, it sounds no, I'm not doing that well.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Look, in terms of the Sixers talk to get us
- 38:26Speaker 1: started here as we're closing out, like our first segment,
- 38:29Speaker 1: before we get to what we're throwing down on the
- 38:30Speaker 1: table with our interview this week, sixers having some issues
- 38:34Speaker 1: in terms of three point shots. Thinking to myself this week,
- 38:37Speaker 1: like what could be done? Could there be an acquisition.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Could they pick up somebody that might help it. I'm thinking,
- 38:43Speaker 1: oh my gosh, Malik Beasley. He's out there, and yes
- 38:47Speaker 1: there's legal issues. He may not be the most stand
- 38:50Speaker 1: up human being in the world. However, signing Malik Beasley
- 38:55Speaker 1: if and when he is able to sign in the NBA,
- 38:59Speaker 1: I I think that's a notion that Daryl Morey and
- 39:01Speaker 1: the Sixers front office may really want to take a
- 39:04Speaker 1: look at because they need some help. This isn't a
- 39:06Speaker 1: team that is in the basement by any stretch. The backcourt,
- 39:10Speaker 1: as lenn and I were talking about last week, is
- 39:13Speaker 1: just incredible to watch, Like the future of what this
- 39:16Speaker 1: backcourt is potentially going to be is so fun to
- 39:19Speaker 1: not only watch right now, but to think about and
- 39:22Speaker 1: if they have that three point shooting from Beasley. I
- 39:25Speaker 1: don't know, Eric, I think I I think there's something
- 39:28Speaker 1: to it here.
- 39:28Speaker 2: You know, what are your thoughts?
- 39:31Speaker 3: Well, I mean, you're right about his character. He's always
- 39:35Speaker 3: been kind of a flake. There's weird stories about Landlord's
- 39:39Speaker 3: wanting rent even though he's made sixty million in his
- 39:41Speaker 3: entire career. Some weird stories about uh, like Scottie Pippens's
- 39:45Speaker 3: daughter apparently stuff like that. He was actually the one
- 39:50Speaker 3: of the first guys, you know, the whole NBA gambling
- 39:54Speaker 3: scandal thing that happened.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Yeah, wasn't he like the first one? I think like that.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Yeah, all of a sudden people were watching his tape
- 40:00Speaker 3: been like that was a airball? What the hell was
- 40:02Speaker 3: that kind of stuff. I think he's been kind of cleared.
- 40:05Speaker 3: I don't know what the rules are in signing him.
- 40:07Speaker 3: There's this weird rumor that he signed with a team
- 40:09Speaker 3: in Serbia. He came out today or yesterday and said,
- 40:12Speaker 3: that's absolutely not true. I never never signed. We talked
- 40:15Speaker 3: to this some team out of there, but we never signed.
- 40:19Speaker 3: But a basketball fit. I mean, the guy's a forty
- 40:22Speaker 3: two percent career three point shooter. He's absolutely up and down.
- 40:26Speaker 3: He's one of those guys that, like in a contract situation,
- 40:30Speaker 3: he will he'll play well. Yeah, he's not going to
- 40:33Speaker 3: cost a lot, he's not going to cost a lot.
- 40:36Speaker 3: But when he's comfortable, he's not good, which is a good,
- 40:40Speaker 3: good reason to go sign him because you're going to
- 40:42Speaker 3: probably sign him to like three or four million, because
- 40:44Speaker 3: you're almost half we've done with this season at this point,
- 40:48Speaker 3: and he was only making six million with the Pistons
- 40:51Speaker 3: last year. Anyway, would he even want to come here?
- 40:55Speaker 3: I don't know. I think any team that would want to.
- 40:57Speaker 3: There's multiple teams, given all everything I said out him,
- 41:00Speaker 3: there will be multiple multiple teams will go after him
- 41:02Speaker 3: because he can shoot the ball, and he would absolutely
- 41:06Speaker 3: he kind of he would fit in on this team.
- 41:08Speaker 3: I mean, you got Eric Gordon come off the bench
- 41:11Speaker 3: at times and he's won of he's like your fourth
- 41:14Speaker 3: or fifth three point shooter. It's like to upgrade that spot, yeah,
- 41:18Speaker 3: you know, to a guy that's giving you absolutely nothing
- 41:22Speaker 3: to taking it from him and given it to a
- 41:24Speaker 3: guy like Beasley. He's six', nine he can rebound a little,
- 41:27Speaker 3: bit he's. Not it's it's actually a pretty good. Fit
- 41:31Speaker 3: and you, know this Is maxi's. Team he's not going
- 41:34Speaker 3: to take Any he could do his knucklehead, stuff but
- 41:36Speaker 3: it's just it's not going to, matter honestly on this.
- 41:38Speaker 3: Team AND i honestly think it'd be a decent. FIT
- 41:42Speaker 3: i just don't know how many teams are going to
- 41:44Speaker 3: try and sign. HIM i don't know here's any Way
- 41:46Speaker 3: detroit is going to resign him because of all that,
- 41:48Speaker 3: happened and just you, know you, know And Darryl morio
- 41:52Speaker 3: will take the heat for signing a guy like. That
- 41:54Speaker 3: he doesn't give a, show so he won't give a
- 41:56Speaker 3: shit at. All, no, no, NO i think it's a
- 41:59Speaker 3: DECENT i just don't know if it's going to. Happen
- 42:02Speaker 3: he's he's such a kind of a bizarre guy some
- 42:05Speaker 3: from what i've EVERYTHING i know about. Him, yeah he
- 42:08Speaker 3: might just sign with a team In russia all of
- 42:09Speaker 3: a sudden for six.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Million, yeah who don't never see him. AGAIN i don't.
- 42:13Speaker 3: Know but as a basketball, fit, yes he'd be, excellent
- 42:16Speaker 3: coming off the bench and taking some. Minutes you, know you're,
- 42:19Speaker 3: you're You're edward's, minutes those that kind of stuff WHERE
- 42:22Speaker 3: i like those, players but they can only get you so.
- 42:25Speaker 2: Far like he's an ESTABLISHED nba.
- 42:28Speaker 3: Vetter he's only twenty nine years old, too and he's
- 42:30Speaker 3: he's an awesome, shooter hits his free. THROWS i think
- 42:34Speaker 3: good fit basketball. WISE i just have no idea if
- 42:36Speaker 3: it could actually happen'd.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Be funny if you signed over In, russia you'd be, like,
- 42:40Speaker 1: oh the landlords are looking for.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Me it's pretty much.
- 42:46Speaker 3: He'll be living in that house That rocky trained, in
- 42:48Speaker 3: And rocky for nobody can find him.
- 42:52Speaker 2: Cav In serbia or wherever he. Was It's, siberia that's
- 42:56Speaker 2: WHAT i, Meant. Siberia, YEAH i don't.
- 42:59Speaker 3: KNOW I i like the, IDEA i really. Do and
- 43:01Speaker 3: if did you Ask sean about?
- 43:04Speaker 2: This well we're going to be getting to.
- 43:07Speaker 1: That, yes, yeah you, know he thought it was a good,
- 43:09Speaker 1: idea like if it's, feasible you, know like if it's,
- 43:11Speaker 1: feasible like what.
- 43:13Speaker 2: You were, saying it's a good. Idea it really.
- 43:15Speaker 3: Is it's another no lose. Proposition you're already you're already
- 43:20Speaker 3: up against the cap, anyway you're probably over. IT i
- 43:21Speaker 3: think you're in the first. Apron but, yeah to sign
- 43:23Speaker 3: a guy for like three four million looking at three
- 43:26Speaker 3: pointers and maybe healthy team and instead of Giving Eric
- 43:28Speaker 3: gordon and need more, time, right he doesn't Need Kyle
- 43:30Speaker 3: lowry For god's. Sake, YEAH i think it's a good.
- 43:33Speaker 2: Idea so all, right very.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Good all, right we are going to go to break
- 43:37Speaker 1: before we do, that, though you got any final thoughts
- 43:39Speaker 1: buddy BEFORE i let you?
- 43:40Speaker 2: Go, nope it's almost eleven. Fifteen, yes they're tired. Boys
- 43:46Speaker 2: we got here we're. Working we're.
- 43:48Speaker 3: Working we're working during the. Day you, know we got
- 43:51Speaker 3: where we're now podcast at. NIGHT i was making food
- 43:54Speaker 3: all day with my. Daughter, yeah, exhausting.
- 43:58Speaker 2: Baking and. Cooking it's.
- 44:02Speaker 3: Fine AND i haven't really been. Drinking and you know
- 44:05Speaker 3: which it, helps you know. Everything, yeah AND i was
- 44:10Speaker 3: talking to. HER i, WAS i told my, Dog i'm,
- 44:12Speaker 3: Like i'm just, Tired, like, Yeah i'm. Forty i'm, realizing
- 44:16Speaker 3: LIKE i cut everything, Out i'm still.
- 44:19Speaker 2: Tired, Yeah i'm getting that point.
- 44:21Speaker 3: In, life LIKE i get eight hours sometimes AND i
- 44:25Speaker 3: wake Up i'm, like, NO i could do another.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Eight, yeah this. Sucks i'm. Tired i'll let you.
- 44:29Speaker 1: Go big boy needs a, Pillow my, goodness, gracious my flyer's. Pillow,
- 44:34Speaker 1: YES i love. It we're gonna be talking. FLYERS i

- 44:40Speaker 1: yes let's get it. Done all, right send me flyer.
- 44:43Speaker 2: Stuff i'm.

- 44:47Speaker 3: buddy all their names by?
- 44:48Speaker 1: Then, okay all, right, folks gonna take a break when
- 44:52Speaker 1: we come. Back got a great interview With Sean bernard
- 44:55Speaker 1: From Fox Sports. Phillies The, gambler gonna dive more into
- 44:58Speaker 1: the six or.
- 44:59Speaker 2: Stick with us and now on the table and joining
- 45:06Speaker 2: us this.
- 45:06Speaker 1: Week we love having them on to talk about The
- 45:08Speaker 1: philadelphia seventy Six, ers where this team is currently, at
- 45:11Speaker 1: and where they may be heading in the. Future From
- 45:14Speaker 1: Fox Sports phillies The. Gambler he's also putting up some
- 45:17Speaker 1: content over At DraftKings as. Well one of our good
- 45:20Speaker 1: friends of The Philadelphia Sports table podcast, show Mister Sean,
- 45:22Speaker 1: Bernard how you, doing my, Friend good to see.
- 45:25Speaker 2: You, yeah doing, Well.
- 45:26Speaker 4: JEFF i appreciate you having me on.
- 45:27Speaker 5: Again always a pleasure to be on chopping up about
- 45:30Speaker 5: the Six ers and a little more room for life
- 45:32Speaker 5: with this. Team come back down to earth to an,
- 45:34Speaker 5: extent but still a little bit more excitement this.
- 45:36Speaker 4: Year.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Yeah you, Know eric AND i were talking about this
- 45:39Speaker 1: team prior to us jumping on, here and just the
- 45:42Speaker 1: fact that you, know from a three point shooting, PERSPECTIVE i,
- 45:45Speaker 1: THINK i don't, KNOW i Think Daryl morey might need
- 45:48Speaker 1: to do, something possibly before the trade. DEADLINE i know
- 45:51Speaker 1: we weren't necessarily going to get into, that but just
- 45:53Speaker 1: a segue from What eric AND i were talking about
- 45:55Speaker 1: to our discussion.
- 45:56Speaker 2: HERE i don't. KNOW i think IT'S i think it's
- 45:58Speaker 2: something that this team may need.
- 45:59Speaker 5: Too, YEAH i think this year has been from start to,
- 46:03Speaker 5: finish a really big evaluation year of let's see how
- 46:05Speaker 5: good this team really, Is let's see what kind of,
- 46:07Speaker 5: leap how ready they are to, Compete and it will
- 46:09Speaker 5: be interesting what the decisions are made at the deadline
- 46:12Speaker 5: if it's more of a priority to get under the
- 46:14Speaker 5: tax shed a little bit, money and that's when you
- 46:16Speaker 5: think of guys Like Andre drummond Or Eric gordon probably
- 46:19Speaker 5: being the ones on the chopping block in that, regard
- 46:22Speaker 5: or is it can we retool and try and make
- 46:24Speaker 5: some noise.
- 46:25Speaker 4: In The Eastern?
- 46:25Speaker 5: Conference, yea there is some reasons for belief with guys
- 46:28Speaker 5: Like Tyrese, maxy the leap that he's.
- 46:30Speaker 4: Taken if you can get a little bit of health
- 46:31Speaker 4: bluck right.
- 46:32Speaker 5: There so we'll be interesting to see kind of what
- 46:33Speaker 5: the motivation is if they're trying to win, games that
- 46:35Speaker 5: they're trying to make some.
- 46:36Speaker 4: Noise more shooting is always.
- 46:37Speaker 3: Welcome, yeah, Absolutely, Actually eric AND i were talking About
- 46:40Speaker 3: Malik Bleep beasley to be honest with, you like what
- 46:42Speaker 3: what might, Happen like could that be a. POSSIBILITY i don't,
- 46:45Speaker 3: know do you have any initial thoughts on?
- 46:46Speaker 5: That, YEAH i, mean as long as he is legally
- 46:50Speaker 5: cleared by THE olda and be able to play basketball,
- 46:52Speaker 5: GAMES i do not have a problem with him taking
- 46:54Speaker 5: a chance on the Six ers. Roster THAT i, mean,
- 46:56Speaker 5: obviously the circumstances are a little bit unique when having this,
- 47:00Speaker 5: conversation AND i mean we're seeing that more and. MORE
- 47:02Speaker 5: i was reading about The Miami heat how they basically
- 47:05Speaker 5: have to officially agree to a trade of sending Away
- 47:08Speaker 5: Terry rogier before the league can even have a ruling
- 47:11Speaker 5: for whether or not that will be, legal which is
- 47:13Speaker 5: kind of interesting in that regard to so a little
- 47:16Speaker 5: bit in the unforeseen circumstances, here but just from a
- 47:18Speaker 5: peer basketball, perspective League bez is one of the best
- 47:21Speaker 5: shooters in all of basketball right. There and, yep when
- 47:23Speaker 5: you think about how impactful he was That pistons team last,
- 47:27Speaker 5: year really their second best player during that playoff. Run
- 47:29Speaker 5: that's a guy THAT i would welcome And philodolpha AND
- 47:31Speaker 5: i think it makes some noise next To TIREES maxi.
- 47:33Speaker 1: ABSOLUTELY i think a lot of teams are going to
- 47:35Speaker 1: be honing in on him if the legal stuff gets
- 47:37Speaker 1: worked out there for. Sure But, SEAN i want to
- 47:41Speaker 1: dive into where this team is at right now, here
- 47:43Speaker 1: because you, know they started the season off, strong kind
- 47:45Speaker 1: of come back down to, reality coming back down to
- 47:48Speaker 1: earth as you essentially mentioned here thirteen and ten in
- 47:52Speaker 1: The east as we're recording. THIS i, mean we've seen
- 47:54Speaker 1: some fun basketball from this, team for. Sure we've also
- 47:56Speaker 1: seen some ugly basketball every now and again as. Well
- 48:00Speaker 1: as we're almost into Mid december, here how would you
- 48:03Speaker 1: grade This sixers team and the job that they've done
- 48:06Speaker 1: so far given the challenges that they've had this.
- 48:08Speaker 2: Season, YEAH i.
- 48:09Speaker 5: Think it's been a solid bea to me That i've
- 48:11Speaker 5: been mostly encouraged by what That i've seen this. YEAR
- 48:14Speaker 5: i think the most positive storyline and probably the biggest
- 48:16Speaker 5: long term change or sort of how evaluating this team
- 48:20Speaker 5: is the growth Of Tyrese. Maxi this dude is showing
- 48:22Speaker 5: the ability to be a ONE a star in a
- 48:24Speaker 5: way THAT i wasn't fully confident was the case coming
- 48:27Speaker 5: into the. Air and we do have to see this
- 48:29Speaker 5: equate to winning on a way THAT i think that's
- 48:30Speaker 5: the biggest critique that you can throw is is a
- 48:33Speaker 5: guy Like tyrese when he has it all the way,
- 48:35Speaker 5: cooking does that really carry a roster in the way
- 48:38Speaker 5: that you want to start To but he's certainly closer
- 48:40Speaker 5: in that conversation THAN i ever imagined would be possible
- 48:42Speaker 5: at this stage of the. Year to that same, point
- 48:44Speaker 5: there has sort of been the black cloud Of joel
- 48:46Speaker 5: embiid hangover the.
- 48:47Speaker 4: Franchise up is he? Available can he? Play what? Levels?
- 48:50Speaker 5: Yet we just Saw i'm sho shoot four for twenty
- 48:53Speaker 5: one against The, lakers including some shots down the stretch
- 48:55Speaker 5: where just to me didn't feel like this is your
- 48:57Speaker 5: time or this is your shot within the flow of.
- 49:00Speaker 5: Here so you're kind of seeing is this going to?
- 49:02Speaker 5: Work can these two pathways sort of cross over themselves
- 49:06Speaker 5: in a way that is effective to The? Sixers but,
- 49:09Speaker 5: OVERALL i still think it's been mostly positives for the
- 49:11Speaker 5: air and feel pretty strongly about.
- 49:12Speaker 1: That, Yeah and it's interesting you Mentioned Tyrese maxi too
- 49:16Speaker 1: and him being THAT Nba All. STAR i, mean we're
- 49:19Speaker 1: talking about that one A All star that we didn't
- 49:21Speaker 1: necessarily think he may get to that? Echelon DID i
- 49:23Speaker 1: think he could have been AN nba STAR a couple
- 49:26Speaker 1: of years. Ago, absolutely but to reach this, echelon it's pretty.
- 49:29Speaker 1: Incredible but the narrative surrounding, him the concern about how
- 49:34Speaker 1: Much Nick nurse has been playing him this. Season the
- 49:37Speaker 1: last thing that we all need and the last thing
- 49:39Speaker 1: that this team needs is For Tyrese maxi to go
- 49:42Speaker 1: down with a long term injury due to how much
- 49:44Speaker 1: time he's on the. Court how concerned should we be
- 49:47Speaker 1: About maxi's usage thus far and the minutes that he's.
- 49:50Speaker 5: Playing, YEAH i certainly have some level of concern with
- 49:54Speaker 5: it that it does feel a level of an extreme
- 49:57Speaker 5: THAT i think could be scaled back to some.
- 49:58Speaker 4: EXTENT i will say for.
- 50:00Speaker 5: STARTERS i do Think tyrese max he's a guy who
- 50:02Speaker 5: can take that level of wearing, terras limitless. Energy he
- 50:05Speaker 5: wants to run around all, day takes incredible care of his,
- 50:08Speaker 5: body trains like a madman in the offseason to be
- 50:10Speaker 5: ready for these type of. Opportunities and to that other
- 50:12Speaker 5: side of the coin, here this is also A Nick
- 50:14Speaker 5: nurse thing when you go back through the years of
- 50:16Speaker 5: him as a head, coach That Kyle lowry and his
- 50:18Speaker 5: prime was logging up there with the most minutes in the.
- 50:20Speaker 5: League Fred Van fleet played some of the most minutes
- 50:22Speaker 5: in the, league And tyrese is sort of his guy
- 50:25Speaker 5: for this, team so it's kind of comes with the
- 50:26Speaker 5: territory when that's your head. COACH i don't need him
- 50:29Speaker 5: being the clear number one minutes leader in THE nba
- 50:32Speaker 5: by multiple, minutes as is currently the, case and he
- 50:35Speaker 5: was over forty for most of the start of the
- 50:37Speaker 5: season that now.
- 50:38Speaker 4: DIPPED i believe we're at thirty nine point nine at
- 50:39Speaker 4: the time of.
- 50:40Speaker 5: Recording as far as minutes per game, there you just
- 50:42Speaker 5: got to find the windows where there are the games
- 50:44Speaker 5: you can throw in the toath that you don't need
- 50:46Speaker 5: him to play forty five deep into the fourth quarter
- 50:49Speaker 5: when you're down twenty points against The Cleveland cavaliers or
- 50:51Speaker 5: whoever it may. BE i Think Nick nurse has made
- 50:53Speaker 5: it a clear priority to set the tone to say
- 50:56Speaker 5: we're going all out regardless of what the score, is
- 50:58Speaker 5: And tyrese has sort of been the redt presentation of.
- 51:00Speaker 5: That BUT i do agree in the overall scheme of,
- 51:02Speaker 5: things would they get scowed back at least?
- 51:04Speaker 2: Slightly? Yeah.
- 51:05Speaker 1: Absolutely and you, know as we look at This sixers,
- 51:08Speaker 1: team the one thing that has consistently baffled me In Sixers.
- 51:12Speaker 1: NATION i think in, general it is a constant theme
- 51:15Speaker 1: and like narrative that the third, quarter my, gosh it
- 51:20Speaker 1: remains an absolute. Abomination and, yes the personnel and the
- 51:25Speaker 1: talent That Nick nurse have on hand for the third
- 51:28Speaker 1: quarter certainly isn't stellar by any stretch of the. Imagination But,
- 51:32Speaker 1: SEAN i just don't understand at times how this team
- 51:35Speaker 1: it's like. Clockwork they'll have a, lead they squander the,
- 51:40Speaker 1: lead third quarter comes into, play and it is an
- 51:44Speaker 1: absolute nightmare from much of the. TIME i, mean is
- 51:48Speaker 1: this it's something that's gotten so bad that it's just
- 51:52Speaker 1: this huge blemish and it's been here for so long
- 51:55Speaker 1: that this, narrative this storyline, here is there any way
- 51:58Speaker 1: For Nick nurse and The sixers to fix this third,
- 52:01Speaker 1: quarter these third quarter woes that they have in the.
- 52:05Speaker 1: FUTURE i, mean what are your thoughts?
- 52:06Speaker 5: Here, Yeah And i've yet to be able to put
- 52:08Speaker 5: my full finger on why. Exactly that is one of
- 52:12Speaker 5: the stranger like weaknesses That i've seen in a team.
- 52:14Speaker 5: HERE i, mean whatever they are doing at, HALFTIME i
- 52:16Speaker 5: would change everything. Up if that means not going to
- 52:18Speaker 5: the locker, room if that means whatever it is To Nick,
- 52:21Speaker 5: nurses like, credit he has changed up the lineups like
- 52:24Speaker 5: quite a, Bit like we've seen a lot of occasions
- 52:26Speaker 5: where Vj edgcomb will start the first, Half Quinn grimes
- 52:29Speaker 5: will start the second, half and changes like. THAT i
- 52:32Speaker 5: was personally critical of Like jared McCain's guy THAT i
- 52:34Speaker 5: would have injected into That lakers, game which once again
- 52:37Speaker 5: we saw some of the third quarter woes pop in.
- 52:39Speaker 5: There SO i think there are some things to, critique
- 52:41Speaker 5: but the reality is this is a team that just
- 52:43Speaker 5: sort of has to get up and get back in
- 52:45Speaker 5: the flow of things after, halftime breaking a rate WHICH
- 52:47Speaker 5: i think teams are doing better than. Them SO i
- 52:49Speaker 5: DON'T i kind of refuse to believe that there is
- 52:51Speaker 5: Like x's and o's changes that teams are making that
- 52:54Speaker 5: The sixers, aren't or that there are adjustments That Nick
- 52:57Speaker 5: nurse is behind the eight. BALL i think in general
- 52:59Speaker 5: across THE nba that happens probably less than people think.
- 53:01Speaker 5: That it is way more pretty game, prep having a
- 53:04Speaker 5: game plan and that's what you execute moving. Forward SO
- 53:06Speaker 5: i can't put my finger on what it, is but
- 53:08Speaker 5: it definitely has to, stop and they are putting themselves
- 53:10Speaker 5: in a massive hole for no. Reason they just got
- 53:12Speaker 5: to find a way to replicate what they have had
- 53:14Speaker 5: some very good first quarter to, Start so maybe we
- 53:16Speaker 5: can kind of bring some of that.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Light, YEAH i just wish we could put our finger on,
- 53:20Speaker 1: it BECAUSE i mean this is like a long term
- 53:22Speaker 1: type of Narrow. YEAH i mean it's not getting any
- 53:25Speaker 1: better anytime.
- 53:26Speaker 2: Soon it doesn't seem like so uh.
- 53:29Speaker 1: WELL i need a break. HERE i need a break from,
- 53:31Speaker 1: this and we're gonna take a break folks when we come.
- 53:34Speaker 1: Back we've got more sixers talk come in your, way all.
- 53:39Speaker 1: Right we're back with our good Friend Sean bernard From
- 53:41Speaker 1: Fox Sports Phillies The gambler putting up content over At
- 53:45Speaker 1: Draft kings as. Well, sean let everybody know where they
- 53:48Speaker 1: can find you on the socials out there if they
- 53:49Speaker 1: want to follow, you my.
- 53:50Speaker 5: Friend, yeah you can follow me on x At Sewan
- 53:53Speaker 5: Underscore bernard, one On instagram At Bernard underscore sewn there
- 53:56Speaker 5: and also on Pick Swab.
- 53:57Speaker 4: Media cranking out some content for.
- 53:59Speaker 5: Both so a lot of podcast clips and things like
- 54:01Speaker 5: that popping enough And i'm more in the works for.
- 54:03Speaker 2: Sure you do a lot of great video, content my.
- 54:05Speaker 2: Friend i'm not.
- 54:06Speaker 1: KIDDING i love watching your content online and, folks if
- 54:08Speaker 1: you're not Following, sean sure, thing, man you gotta Follow.
- 54:11Speaker 1: Sean the videos are fantastic that you're putting. Up they really.
- 54:15Speaker 1: Are but another GUY i want to dive into with
- 54:18Speaker 1: This philadelphia seventy Six ers team Is Paul. GEORGE i,
- 54:21Speaker 1: mean he had a really good game against The bucks
- 54:23Speaker 1: this past week and he really took control of that
- 54:27Speaker 1: game while ALSO i think helping to settle the offense
- 54:32Speaker 1: The sixers offense a bunch of young guys to really
- 54:35Speaker 1: kind of taking a leadership role that you can actually
- 54:37Speaker 1: see on the. Court i'm wondering what are your assessments
- 54:40Speaker 1: Of Paul george when he's on the court this, season
- 54:43Speaker 1: what we've seen from him in terms, of you, know
- 54:46Speaker 1: how he can really help this team in the.
- 54:47Speaker 2: Future, yeah you.
- 54:48Speaker 5: Definitely can still have the complaints about the rate at
- 54:51Speaker 5: Which Paul george has been on the floor right some
- 54:53Speaker 5: of the lack of availability, there BUT i think when
- 54:56Speaker 5: he has actually played for the most, part it's been
- 54:58Speaker 5: pretty promising and pretty like respectable THAT i think it's
- 55:01Speaker 5: been The Paul george has advertised to an, extent he's
- 55:03Speaker 5: never gonna be a guy that quite lives up to
- 55:05Speaker 5: the max, contract the full scale max that they did
- 55:08Speaker 5: hand him in the past offseason. There BUT i think
- 55:10Speaker 5: he's been like pretty solid when on the. FLOOR i
- 55:12Speaker 5: think defensively he makes an impact that you see s
- 55:15Speaker 5: the pathway to him being like this three and d
- 55:17Speaker 5: arch type of player with a little bit more juice to.
- 55:19Speaker 5: HIM i think That bucks game was absolutely his best
- 55:21Speaker 5: game as A, sixers certainly this, year and there is
- 55:24Speaker 5: like this calming sense when he does have the basketball
- 55:27Speaker 5: on the flow of the, offense WHICH i think is
- 55:28Speaker 5: pretty comforting and necessary to what The sixers team. NEEDS
- 55:31Speaker 5: i don't think they have a ton of like super advanced,
- 55:34Speaker 5: creators so having a guy Like Paul george is certainly
- 55:36Speaker 5: helpful in that. Regard So i'm frustrated by it has
- 55:40Speaker 5: not been he's scaled up to a full workload in
- 55:42Speaker 5: the way That I've i've. Hoped but when he's, PLAYED
- 55:45Speaker 5: i think he's been pretty, fine AND i can live
- 55:47Speaker 5: with that and be encouraged that maybe that scales up moving.
- 55:49Speaker 1: Forward, absolutely it hasn't lived up to the max, contract
- 55:52Speaker 1: like you, said but you know there's comfort out there
- 55:55Speaker 1: at least for us when he is on the, floor
- 55:56Speaker 1: as you, noted so as we're moving along, Here, SEAN
- 55:59Speaker 1: i like to do this exercise every now and again
- 56:02Speaker 1: with our guests that we. Have we have some categories,
- 56:05Speaker 1: here And i'm hoping you can give me the player
- 56:07Speaker 1: that fits these particular categories and why you think that
- 56:11Speaker 1: player fits best so on This sixers. Team who do
- 56:15Speaker 1: you think the breakout guy has been so far this?
- 56:18Speaker 5: Season for, ME i think It's Dominic barlow in this,
- 56:21Speaker 5: conversation all, right, Nice i'm thrilled by what.
- 56:23Speaker 4: We've seen From Don.
- 56:24Speaker 5: Barlow and this is a cool story of a guy
- 56:26Speaker 5: that you sort of got off the scrap peep, here
- 56:28Speaker 5: had had a cup of coffee with The Atlanta hawks
- 56:30Speaker 5: And San Antonio, spurs wasn't really able to find ANY
- 56:33Speaker 5: nba footing. There and he looks like a guy THAT
- 56:35Speaker 5: i think maybe the starter for this team all season
- 56:38Speaker 5: THAT i love the way that he does the dirty,
- 56:40Speaker 5: work is willing to commit to the, glass knows exactly
- 56:42Speaker 5: who he is as a basketball player in terms of
- 56:44Speaker 5: attacking the glass with just like a relentlessless, aggression WHICH
- 56:48Speaker 5: i think is really. Appreciated AND i think there's more
- 56:50Speaker 5: to him than just that that you see some flashes
- 56:52Speaker 5: where he'll put the ball on the, floor where he'll
- 56:54Speaker 5: make a little pass Where i'm just, like there's something
- 56:56Speaker 5: here in this guy's. Game SO i don't Think Dominic
- 56:58Speaker 5: barlow is on very many people those maps heading into the.
- 57:01Speaker 4: SEASON i think he might be by the end of.
- 57:02Speaker 1: It all, right very. Good the next, Category i'm, wondering
- 57:05Speaker 1: who do you see as the comeback? KID i was
- 57:08Speaker 1: always hoping that it would be Joe El. Embiid he
- 57:11Speaker 1: certainly has not flipped up to being the comeback. Kid
- 57:14Speaker 1: who do you see so far on The sixers team
- 57:15Speaker 1: as the comeback?
- 57:16Speaker 5: Kid, Yeah i'll give it To Paul george for this,
- 57:18Speaker 5: one just from the standpoint OF i think he went
- 57:21Speaker 5: forgotten in a lot of, minds and he's still a
- 57:23Speaker 5: very SOLID nba. Player he's still a guy that can
- 57:25Speaker 5: give you twenty five and five on a fairly regular basis,
- 57:29Speaker 5: there AND i think we'll settle into his role in
- 57:31Speaker 5: the Six ers. Team it still has not been like
- 57:32Speaker 5: a ten out of ten satisfied with The Paul george,
- 57:35Speaker 5: experience primarily for the lack of opportunities and him being
- 57:38Speaker 5: on the floor consistently, there but ULTIMATELY i Think Paul
- 57:40Speaker 5: george has still been pretty respectable and worthy of this.
- 57:43Speaker 1: Award, here there's a few players for this next CATEGORY
- 57:46Speaker 1: i think that we could really hone in. On But i'm,
- 57:49Speaker 1: wondering who do you categorize at this particular point as
- 57:52Speaker 1: we're heading into Mid december as the rising star of
- 57:55Speaker 1: the seventy six.
- 57:56Speaker 5: Ers it still has to Be Tyrese maxie me, yep
- 58:00Speaker 5: he is across the ENTIRE nba conversation a rising star
- 58:04Speaker 5: THAT i think he's been a pretty clear top ten
- 58:06Speaker 5: player in basketball this, year and that is a level
- 58:08Speaker 5: WHICH i cannot believe that he's achieved this year after.
- 58:10Speaker 5: Year this dude has skyrocketed pass WHAT i thought any
- 58:13Speaker 5: realistic ceiling war for his. Player and he's still just
- 58:17Speaker 5: twenty five years. Old he's still coming into his. Prime
- 58:19Speaker 5: he's gonna get even. Better Tyrese maxey is a superstar
- 58:22Speaker 5: THAT i do not think any very many people expected
- 58:25Speaker 5: that he would get to this.
- 58:25Speaker 2: Low Thank god For Tyrese.
- 58:27Speaker 1: MAXEY a right moving, along who do you think is
- 58:30Speaker 1: the don't forget about him player on this?
- 58:34Speaker 5: Team that would Be jared McCain for, Me i'm still
- 58:38Speaker 5: buying as Much jared McCain's stock AS i can, Get
- 58:40Speaker 5: BUT i still believe in what this guy brings the
- 58:42Speaker 5: table as far as his relocation. Skills, OFFENSIVELY i think
- 58:45Speaker 5: he's truly going to be one of the most elite
- 58:47Speaker 5: shooters in THE. NBA i think we have to give
- 58:49Speaker 5: him a little bit more grace when you factor in
- 58:52Speaker 5: the pathway for him to this point was him absolutely
- 58:54Speaker 5: popping off the, page playing twenty three games as a
- 58:56Speaker 5: rookie and then his season being ended due to a miniscus.
- 58:59Speaker 4: TEAR i think it was even.
- 59:00Speaker 5: More harmful to kind of the trajectory was tearing that
- 59:03Speaker 5: ligament in his shooting hand arm in THAT ucl coming
- 59:06Speaker 5: into training camp this. Year, yeah not being able to
- 59:09Speaker 5: participate in training camp when there was the level of
- 59:11Speaker 5: roster turnover that was the case, HERE i think is
- 59:13Speaker 5: a really tough spot for a guard dominant. Player SO
- 59:16Speaker 5: i Think jared McCain has sort of been behind the
- 59:18Speaker 5: eight ball all. Year there's still the flashes that have
- 59:20Speaker 5: me BELIEVING i don't think he's necessarily the most Nick
- 59:23Speaker 5: nerus type of, player And i'm personal a little bit
- 59:25Speaker 5: frustrated THAT i would carve out more. Minutes BUT i
- 59:27Speaker 5: do believe in the. TALENT i do believe that the
- 59:29Speaker 5: cream will ultimately rise at the top.
- 59:30Speaker 1: THERE i love the player you picked for that, category
- 59:34Speaker 1: because when it comes to McCain, TWO i think folks
- 59:36Speaker 1: just need to, realize like you, said give him a
- 59:38Speaker 1: little more. Grace he's in a sophomore year, here sophomore,
- 59:40Speaker 1: season you, know with this, Team let's let's give the
- 59:44Speaker 1: guy a little bit more, grace especially with the injuries
- 59:46Speaker 1: that he has been. Through so final category here before
- 59:50Speaker 1: we get to then our last, Topic sean who is
- 59:53Speaker 1: the biggest, quote needs to step up player on this.
- 59:57Speaker 2: Team, yeah AND.
- 59:58Speaker 4: I hate to do it to, him BUT i think
- 59:59Speaker 4: this Is joel embiid.
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: Conmerce, yeah and it's, Strange LIKE i will, say this
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: wasn't exactly HOW i expected things to. GO i kind
- 1:00:07Speaker 5: of thought it would either Be joel can't play and
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: he's consistently, unavailable and you could honestly make the case
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: that that's pretty much what has happened this. Year but
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: the other side of things IS i thought, like if
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: he's going to be existing in THIS nba, capacity we're
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: going to see more consistent flashes of him being the,
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: guy AND i don't think we've quite seen. THIS i
- 1:00:23Speaker 5: will say the first stretch at the start of the,
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: year that final game before he missed the twenty two
- 1:00:28Speaker 5: days with the knee flare up and the right knee
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: the non surgically repared mee from this offseason, there that
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: was the most encouraged THAT i was THAT i THOUGHT
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: i could squint and see the vision Of, okay he's
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: not far off from What Joel embiid can. Be the
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: lack of defensive impact that he does make it is
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: just layup lines around.
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: Him the lob is always available when he's on the.
- 1:00:45Speaker 5: Floor it makes it really difficult to build out an
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: actual like winning roster when your center can't do big
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: time center things like rebound and protect the rim at
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: a high.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: Rate.
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: There so The Joel embiid conversation is getting a lot
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: more complicated THAN i wish would be the case. There
- 1:00:59Speaker 5: AND i don't know how much room there is for
- 1:01:01Speaker 5: him to improve off what we're. Seeing and that's kind
- 1:01:03Speaker 5: of a concerning question right.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: There absolutely absolutely it's gonna be a it's going to
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: be a story narrative here that just doesn't go away
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: anytime soon. Either so with that being, said BEFORE i
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: let you, go, buddy you, know this team certainly has
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: a lot to work, on and we've talked about a
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: lot of that during the course of this discussion, here
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: BUT i am still committed to saying that they are
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: a fun team to watch, overall given The Joel embiid,
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: challenges you, know given the concerns that we have About
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: Tyrese maxi in his, minutes and they have a spectacular
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: backcourt with a ton of promise for the, future WHICH
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: i think is so fun in terms of watching this
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: team following what happens with. Them that being, said excuse,
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: me what do you want to see from this seventy
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: six ers team in terms of what they need to
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: work on most here In december that can really propel
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: them into twenty twenty.
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: Six, YEAH i.
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: Want to see him keep, scrapping keep doing a lot
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: of what they are, doing and keep leaning on the
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: backcourt THAT i still think that there is some work
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: to be done as far as sorting out what is
- 1:02:05Speaker 5: the chemistry level and what are the proper lineup combinations
- 1:02:08Speaker 5: between The Tyrese, Maxis jared, McCain Quentin GRIMES vj edgecomb
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: as sort of the identity of this offense in this,
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: TEAM i would like to see some level of defensive.
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: Improvement That they're not going to be an elite defensive
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: team by any, means but it's got to be a
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: little bit better than it has. Been that they've been
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: pretty close to the bottom tier of the team AND
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: i think at best mediocre for stretches this. Season so
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: if you can get to just passable or serviceable in that,
- 1:02:29Speaker 5: CATEGORY i think would be a big. Deal AND i
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: do think that when you look around the greater landscape
- 1:02:33Speaker 5: of The Eastern, Conference i'm totally optimistic of this team
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: making its way into the postseasons to some capacity, here
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: and that has less to do with direct belief in
- 1:02:40Speaker 5: The sixers and more to do with look at how
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: bad some of the other teams in The east are
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: that when you look at The, pacers The, nets The,
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: wizards The, hornets none of those TEAMS i think have
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: any sort of postseason chance.
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: There so it's really.
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: One team that is trying to win basketball games isn't
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: going to qualify for. It so we'll see ultimately what
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: things are going to be at the end of the season.
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: Here BUT i just want to continue seeing this level
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: of fight competitiveness and see where the cards fall where
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: they do at the end of the.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: Season it's a fun season so, far and we're going
