- 0:13Speaker 5: The biggest.
- 0:13Speaker 3: This is the biggest. Our biggest show.
- 0:15Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show.
- 0:16Speaker 3: With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy.
- 0:19Speaker 5: Big Show.
- 0:20Speaker 4: G'day, you absolute sickos. It's the Hodaki Big Show, as always,
- 0:24Speaker 4: brought to you by the good folks at Reburger. Serving
- 0:27Speaker 4: good times and good food. Dine in or take away
- 0:30Speaker 4: Reburger gear today.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Scrumdiddlyumptious.
- 0:34Speaker 4: You got Pugs and Mogi. How you going, you mad bastard?
- 0:37Speaker 5: Going pretty grassy, you sick son of a B. What
- 0:40Speaker 5: a weekend it was. What a weekend it was.
- 0:42Speaker 4: What a weekend it was, man.
- 0:44Speaker 5: How was yours? Did you get up too much?
- 0:45Speaker 4: It was bloody busy. I was in Rotorua. We'll get
- 0:47Speaker 4: into it a little bit later, but I met that brother-in-law.
- 0:50Speaker 5: Oh, yes.
- 0:50Speaker 4: The one you were scared of. Well, yeah, just like,
- 0:54Speaker 4: you know, when there's one person left in the family
- 0:56Speaker 4: and everyone's like, oh, you haven't met him yet.
- 0:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 0:58Speaker 4: And you're kind of like, well, he's probably just a
- 1:00Speaker 4: lovely person as well, if all of you are so lovely.
- 1:02Speaker 5: Yeah, right.
- 1:03Speaker 4: But we'll get into that a little bit later. I
- 1:05Speaker 4: had an absolute schmuzzle, which also has something to do
- 1:08Speaker 4: with all of that ick chat from last week.
- 1:10Speaker 5: Great.
- 1:10Speaker 4: You're going to love it. You're going to need it.
- 1:12Speaker 4: But how about you?
- 1:13Speaker 5: How was your weekend? Yeah, it was really good. I
- 1:16Speaker 5: think I spent half of it hungover. I did. I did, actually.
- 1:19Speaker 5: And we've got to get into that chat as well,
- 1:21Speaker 5: because I think I've cracked... I think I might have
- 1:25Speaker 5: cracked life.
- 1:25Speaker 6: Oh, yeah?
- 1:26Speaker 5: I think I've cracked life a little bit there. So
- 1:28Speaker 5: I'm going to run you through that at some point
- 1:31Speaker 5: in the show. Yeah, I forgot about that. Jeez, it
- 1:32Speaker 5: was a hell of a night. Not a great Saturday. Right.
- 1:35Speaker 5: But a hell of a Friday.
- 1:36Speaker 4: Okay. But you heard it here first on the Hauraki
- 1:38Speaker 4: Big Show. Absolutely cracked life. Should we get into what's
- 1:41Speaker 4: coming up on the show?
- 1:42Speaker 5: I think so.
- 1:46Speaker 4: What's happening on the Big Show with Old Mogi?
- 1:50Speaker 5: Well, Pugs, as you say, man, you got absolutely done
- 1:52Speaker 5: on your trip away. Did I what? And we're going
- 1:54Speaker 5: to go into that deep, deep, deep. I've cracked life. Fantastic.
- 1:59Speaker 5: Which is all a part of my wife and daughter
- 2:01Speaker 5: going away for a week.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:04Speaker 5: One probably doesn't exist without the other, I'll be completely
- 2:06Speaker 5: honest with you, but we'll explain that sometime after the five.
- 2:09Speaker 5: And coming up next, we'll be announcing the new shame.
- 2:13Speaker 5: The new shame.
- 2:14Speaker 4: The new show name.
- 2:19Speaker 5: For our show, for the coming week, Pugs, we've got
- 2:21Speaker 5: a week left until Hoiti J and Keezy get back
- 2:24Speaker 5: from their holiday. We've finally locked in a show name
- 2:26Speaker 5: and we're going to be pumping out all sorts for it.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Absolutely. You voted on the Hauraki Big Show Instagram story.
- 2:33Speaker 4: I mean, no, it was a post, and we'll have
- 2:34Speaker 4: the results next. Plus, Mogi, I've already got to making
- 2:38Speaker 4: some stings.
- 2:39Speaker 5: Oh, how good.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Plus, get involved with the show as well. We're going
- 2:42Speaker 4: to do songs from bands that I like where we
- 2:44Speaker 4: want your feedback. Every text, every call, in the draw for.
- 2:47Speaker 5: A $ 50 voucher.
- 2:49Speaker 4: From our good mates over at Reburg.
- 2:52Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 2:57Speaker 4: The darkness on the Hauraki Big Show. You've got Pugs
- 3:00Speaker 4: and Mogi here, Keezy and Jase, away on holiday. And
- 3:05Speaker 4: because we've got another week of the show, Mogi, we
- 3:07Speaker 4: needed to come up with a new name. We needed
- 3:09Speaker 4: the people's help to do that, and we shortened it
- 3:11Speaker 4: after many, many absolute shitters.
- 3:14Speaker 5: Well, we can't come up with any ideas of our own.
- 3:16Speaker 5: I think we've proven that time and time again. So, yeah,
- 3:21Speaker 5: it's great to have them assist us again. We've had
- 3:23Speaker 5: Jase's cat's been named by the audience. My cat was
- 3:27Speaker 5: named by the audience. Keezy on all fours looking over
- 3:30Speaker 5: his shoulders with me. Keezy was named by the audience.
- 3:34Speaker 5: All these things. So, yeah, we've gone to the well again,
- 3:37Speaker 5: and they've come up Trump's.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Absolutely. We narrowed it down to our four favourites and
- 3:43Speaker 4: I will read these in order of the popularity in
- 3:46Speaker 4: terms of the vote. I put up a poll yesterday
- 3:48Speaker 4: on the Hauraki Big Show Insta. So coming in dead
- 3:51Speaker 4: last with about 18%, you've got The Michael and James Show.
- 3:58Speaker 5: That is a shame because I had big hopes for that.
- 4:00Speaker 5: So did I. So did I.
- 4:01Speaker 4: Just very, very run of the mill. It's what's on
- 4:03Speaker 4: the tin. Third was my favourite. which was Stout and
- 4:08Speaker 4: the Snout.
- 4:09Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, good. Yeah, I wasn't up for that one either.
- 4:11Speaker 4: You didn't like it. Okay, and we'll go straight to
- 4:13Speaker 4: number one here.
- 4:14Speaker 5: What were the two options first?
- 4:15Speaker 4: So the two options were One and a Half Mongrels
- 4:19Speaker 4: and Wokeboy and the Truth, which is the name that
- 4:21Speaker 4: we had the.
- 4:22Speaker 5: Last time that we did this show. I'll be interested
- 4:24Speaker 5: to see how this goes because I'm a fan of
- 4:26Speaker 5: One and a Half Mongrels. Are you? Always have been.
- 4:28Speaker 4: Okay, well, the new name for the Pugs and Mogi
- 4:31Speaker 4: Horaki Big Show for this whole week is.
- 4:41Speaker 4: Woke boy in the truth.
- 4:45Speaker 5: So they're inflicting us. Yeah. But we almost pulled that
- 4:48Speaker 5: out of the running.
- 4:49Speaker 4: Yeah, we should have.
- 4:51Speaker 5: Yeah, woke boy in the truth. I'm not sure which
- 4:54Speaker 5: is worse.
- 4:55Speaker 4: For context, Mogi and I had to do the last
- 4:58Speaker 4: show of the year last year because the other two
- 5:00Speaker 4: had leave. And so we filled in for one day
- 5:02Speaker 4: and it was like limping to the finish line. But
- 5:04Speaker 4: we were like, let's come up with a name for
- 5:05Speaker 4: the two of us. And we came up with Woke Boy.
- 5:08Speaker 5: Yeah, it sounds like something that I've said and then
- 5:12Speaker 5: it's become the name. There's a text come through here
- 5:16Speaker 5: now just off the back of me stuffing up my
- 5:18Speaker 5: lines in the first break at the top of the
- 5:21Speaker 5: show there. It should be the Hauraki Big Shame.
- 5:24Speaker 4: Yeah, that's actually a great name for a radio show
- 5:27Speaker 4: and I'm sad that we didn't make that stuff up sooner.
- 5:29Speaker 5: Hauraki Big Shame with Pugs and Mogi. Look, you know,
- 5:33Speaker 5: I don't hate that. I don't hate that. I don't
- 5:36Speaker 5: hate that, but you've got to go with the poll,
- 5:37Speaker 5: I guess. It's too late.
- 5:38Speaker 4: The people wanted to punish us.
- 5:39Speaker 5: Is it too late, or do we big poll that
- 5:42Speaker 5: with this one versus the other one, and then see
- 5:44Speaker 5: how we go? And you can also play. You still
- 5:46Speaker 5: have an opportunity to play your stings. Okay. What do
- 5:48Speaker 5: you think?
- 5:49Speaker 4: Yeah, because I did make a bunch of stings for
- 5:51Speaker 4: Woke Boy and the Truth.
- 5:52Speaker 5: That's right.
- 5:53Speaker 4: It's no loss to me. I still get to play
- 5:55Speaker 4: them out on here.
- 5:55Speaker 5: You still play them.
- 5:56Speaker 4: Okay, so maybe we do a poll.
- 5:57Speaker 5: So today we're Woke Boy and the Truth, and at
- 5:59Speaker 5: the end of the show, we'll tally up the votes,
- 6:02Speaker 5: and then we'll see where we're at. We might be
- 6:04Speaker 5: the Hauraki Big Shames. With Woke Boy and the Truth.
- 6:07Speaker 4: This is going to be like a text poll. Maybe
- 6:09Speaker 4: I'll swing something up on the Instagram. 3483, should our
- 6:12Speaker 4: name be either Woke Boy and the Truth or the
- 6:15Speaker 4: Hauraki Big Shame? Let us know on 3483. We'll read
- 6:20Speaker 4: out your text. Everyone in the draw for a $ 50
- 6:22Speaker 4: Reburger voucher. Up next, songs from bands that we like.
- 6:29Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 6:32Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 6:35Speaker 4: The Minchicks on the Hauraki Big Show with Pugs and
- 6:38Speaker 4: Mogi nailing down a name. We put four finalists in.
- 6:42Speaker 4: We got down to the most voted, which was Wokeboy
- 6:45Speaker 4: and The Truth. But there's been a late entry, hasn't there, Mogi?
- 6:48Speaker 5: There has, there has. The Hauraki Big Show. we're bringing
- 6:52Speaker 5: great shame onto the name of Radio Hauraki and indeed
- 6:55Speaker 5: the big show. So do we just call it the Hauraki?
- 6:58Speaker 5: Or is it, yeah, the Hauraki big shame. Kind of
- 7:00Speaker 5: makes sense.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Well, I wish that it didn't, but yeah, it kind
- 7:04Speaker 4: of does. So we are putting up a bit of
- 7:07Speaker 4: a snap poll as to whether or not we should
- 7:09Speaker 4: add that into the running to possibly replace Wokeboy and
- 7:12Speaker 4: the Truth as the very recent winner as voted by you.
- 7:16Speaker 4: Or do we combine it? Wokeboy and the Truth. On
- 7:19Speaker 4: the Hauraki Big Shame.
- 7:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:20Speaker 4: Or something like that. Yeah. But I did obviously go
- 7:24Speaker 4: off that vote result from earlier in the day, and
- 7:26Speaker 4: I did come up with a few stings that we
- 7:28Speaker 4: can try out, Mogi.
- 7:29Speaker 5: Go on.
- 7:30Speaker 4: If you're interested. So here's the first one for our
- 7:33Speaker 4: new radio show.
- 7:34Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 7:35Speaker 3: Is that Vogue Boy?
- 7:40Speaker 5: I think you could put anything into that, and it
- 7:42Speaker 5: would be great.
- 7:43Speaker 4: Thank you so much. Thank you so much. That's my
- 7:46Speaker 4: winner so far. Because it's the first one There is five,
- 7:51Speaker 4: just so you know Here's another.
- 7:52Speaker 6: One No more lies, woke boy The truth.
- 7:57Speaker 5: Is here.
- 8:00Speaker 4: That's sort of like a Like you're schooling A baby
- 8:06Speaker 4: And I'm the baby Here's another one Who let woke
- 8:11Speaker 4: boy in? It's the truth Similar to the first one
- 8:17Speaker 4: there But I thought, you know, if this show name
- 8:20Speaker 4: really takes off, Mogi, we might want to abbreviate.
- 8:23Speaker 5: Things a little bit. We're already abbreviating.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Here you go.
- 8:29Speaker 5: WBATT.
- 8:29Speaker 3: On Radio Hodaki.
- 8:31Speaker 4: WBATT is kind of a cool radio.
- 8:32Speaker 5: Is it?
- 8:35Speaker 4: Kind of a cool radio-sounding name. And then finally, you know,
- 8:38Speaker 4: just if we're having a chiller, man.
- 8:41Speaker 5: You're listening to the sultry sounds of Wogboy. Can I
- 8:51Speaker 5: have the first one again?
- 8:52Speaker 4: Yeah, totally, man.
- 8:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I like the first one and the last one
- 9:00Speaker 5: because it's Wokeboy and the Truth, where the other ones,
- 9:02Speaker 5: it's us against each other.
- 9:04Speaker 4: Right, so you think it should be more of a
- 9:05Speaker 4: team up rather than like a.
- 9:07Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a duo.
- 9:07Speaker 4: But I think the name Wokeboy and the Truth sort
- 9:10Speaker 4: of screams like, We're opposites. There's a jazzy radio dynamic
- 9:13Speaker 4: going on here.
- 9:14Speaker 5: Well, what's going to happen this time? But I think it's...
- 9:18Speaker 5: We just had one come in from Lee saying on 3483,
- 9:20Speaker 5: saying that all of those things sound the same. How
- 9:25Speaker 5: do you feel about that?
- 9:26Speaker 4: You know what, man? People are entitled to their opinion,
- 9:29Speaker 4: but he's a bloody liar.
- 9:30Speaker 5: He's a bloody liar. That's exactly what Wokeboy would say. Exactly.
- 9:34Speaker 4: I'm fitting into my role. Let us know what you think, 3483.
- 9:37Speaker 4: But now it's time for our other segment, if you
- 9:39Speaker 4: weren't sick of stings already. So this is where we
- 9:47Speaker 4: play a tune that we want to hear more on
- 9:48Speaker 4: Radio Hodaki or from a band that we want to
- 9:50Speaker 4: hear more on Radio Hodaki. And we get your thoughts
- 9:53Speaker 4: on 3483, every text going in the drawer for a
- 9:55Speaker 4: $ 50 Reburg voucher. Now, this is a late entry from me.
- 9:59Speaker 4: I think it was your turn.
- 10:00Speaker 5: It was, yeah.
- 10:00Speaker 4: But I've tagged in here with a band that I
- 10:02Speaker 4: did have banked as wanting to play. This is another
- 10:06Speaker 4: Irish band. So last week I did Fontaine's DC, and
- 10:08Speaker 4: this is another Irish band, and I'm not even 100%
- 10:10Speaker 4: sure how to pronounce their name, but it's Gurriers.
- 10:12Speaker 5: Or something like... Oh, that's racist.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Hang on.
- 10:14Speaker 5: That's shocking. Oh, God. Thanks, man. He's got a bit
- 10:19Speaker 5: of royal blood about this bit already. You reckon? He does.
- 10:23Speaker 4: This is Gurriers. Nobody's coming to save you from a
- 10:26Speaker 4: song from a band that I like on Radio Hauraki.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Have a hoon.
- 10:31Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 10:35Speaker 4: That's Gurriers, or maybe Gurriers, on the Hauraki Big Show.
- 10:39Speaker 4: That is a song from a band that I like.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Somebody recommended me that band a couple of years ago,
- 10:43Speaker 4: and I've wanted to play it on Hauraki ever since then. 3483,
- 10:47Speaker 4: we wanted to hear your feedback on the tune. Someone
- 10:49Speaker 4: here said, this would be the sort of shit the
- 10:50Speaker 4: woke boy would be into. Yep. Bang on.
- 10:53Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely.
- 10:54Speaker 4: And then another one here, I like the song, reminds
- 10:56Speaker 4: me of Royal Blood and a bit of Smashing Pumpkins, maybe.
- 10:59Speaker 4: But I feel like they were gassing me up because
- 11:00Speaker 4: they immediately went into a chat about asking for a
- 11:02Speaker 4: Reburger voucher.
- 11:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I think the mistake that Soraya's made there is
- 11:07Speaker 5: that she said, to treat me and my boyfriend. If
- 11:09Speaker 5: she left that part out of it, you know, you
- 11:12Speaker 5: would have been like, oh, you're sweet. Oh, you reckon? Yeah,
- 11:14Speaker 5: I reckon.
- 11:15Speaker 4: You reckon I would have done that?
- 11:16Speaker 5: Yeah, you're a shocker.
- 11:16Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, no, you're right, man.
- 11:18Speaker 5: I like that tune. That's a good tune.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Yeah, it was pretty light. It has heavy bits, but
- 11:22Speaker 4: I don't think it overdid it. You know what I mean?
- 11:23Speaker 4: It kind of had some more melodic stuff sort of
- 11:25Speaker 4: through it.
- 11:25Speaker 5: Are you sometimes sitting there listening to a band and
- 11:27Speaker 5: thinking to yourself, oh, it's a good song, but they're
- 11:29Speaker 5: overdoing it with the heavy stuff?
- 11:31Speaker 4: Yes.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:32Speaker 4: Yeah, that does happen. Or sometimes too much of the
- 11:34Speaker 4: melodic stuff.
- 11:35Speaker 5: No, I know. Oh, you're a hard taskmaster. Yeah, thanks, man.
- 11:38Speaker 5: A woke boy.
- 11:39Speaker 4: And in the meantime, if you want to have your
- 11:41Speaker 4: opinion on the tunes that we're playing on Hauraki, you
- 11:43Speaker 4: can text MUSIC to 3483 to be a part of
- 11:46Speaker 4: the Music Jury, which is a survey that we put
- 11:49Speaker 4: out periodically to get your opinion on the playlist. And
- 11:52Speaker 4: that directly influences what we play. And also, if you
- 11:56Speaker 4: get involved, you can win a brand new Technic record
- 11:58Speaker 4: player and $ 100 worth of vinyl vouchers. So you can
- 12:01Speaker 4: either go to the music tab at horaki.co.nz or just
- 12:05Speaker 4: text music to 3483.
- 12:08Speaker 5: I'm doing songs from bands that I like tomorrow. It's
- 12:11Speaker 5: my turn to come up with a tune. And it's
- 12:12Speaker 5: a toughie, isn't it? Because you're almost tempted to come
- 12:14Speaker 5: in with a song that's, dare I say it, not
- 12:17Speaker 5: hard out.
- 12:18Speaker 4: Yes.
- 12:19Speaker 5: That you think, God, I absolutely love this song. I'd
- 12:21Speaker 5: really love to share this with the audience. But you
- 12:24Speaker 5: know that you'll just get dragged.
- 12:26Speaker 4: Have you thought about one that has like some heavy
- 12:28Speaker 4: stuff but more like some melodic stuff?
- 12:31Speaker 5: No, I haven't. I've thought about ones that are– actually,
- 12:36Speaker 5: I might even try– there's a great Queens of the
- 12:37Speaker 5: Stone Age song called I Never Came. Oh, yeah? Okay.
- 12:43Speaker 5: And that one's a real slow bastard. Maybe I'll give
- 12:46Speaker 5: that one a run.
- 12:46Speaker 4: And potentially some big news, re-Queens of the Stone Age
- 12:49Speaker 4: coming up. We're re-Wogbuing the truth. But we'll get into
- 12:51Speaker 4: that later. Mike Lane next on the Rugby Union over
- 12:55Speaker 4: the weekend.
- 12:56Speaker 5: Well said.
- 12:57Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 13:01Speaker 4: Radiohead on the Hauraki Big Show. You've got Mogi and
- 13:04Speaker 4: Pugs here. And we're joined by a very special guest
- 13:07Speaker 4: for some Rugby Union chat. Crouch, touch, pause, engage.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Rugby Union chat.
- 13:16Speaker 7: G-Lane.
- 13:18Speaker 5: That was brilliant, wasn't it?
- 13:19Speaker 7: I feel like Keezy's not given it enough. There's actually
- 13:23Speaker 7: a longer version of that.
- 13:24Speaker 4: There is a very, very long version of that. I
- 13:27Speaker 4: can't find it here.
- 13:28Speaker 7: I mean, Keezy's not even a league fan, yet he's
- 13:30Speaker 7: taking the piss out of Union.
- 13:31Speaker 5: That's right. Well, everybody knows with Keezy, Ben, it's just....
- 13:38Speaker 7: Whichever way the wind blows is what I think you're
- 13:40Speaker 7: looking for.
- 13:42Speaker 5: 100%. Hell of a game on the weekend, man. The
- 13:45Speaker 5: Springboks weren't playing, so the All Blacks went pretty well
- 13:48Speaker 5: against the Wallabies, who would have been feeling cock-a-hoop after
- 13:51Speaker 5: their game against the Springboks a week or two before.
- 13:53Speaker 7: Yeah, they came in with some BDC, and so did
- 13:56Speaker 7: their fans. Their fans were a little bit cock-a-hoop. They thought, here,
- 13:59Speaker 7: we're going to break the hoodoo, we're going to break
- 14:00Speaker 7: the fortress, we're going to take the old Bledisloe, but
- 14:04Speaker 7: turns out It was an anomaly when they beat that
- 14:07Speaker 7: second 15, that second South African 15.
- 14:10Speaker 4: That's an interesting thing, isn't it?
- 14:13Speaker 5: Because it is the second 15, but does it even
- 14:15Speaker 5: up when you've got 11 players on the field?
- 14:18Speaker 7: This is true as well. Very good point. But look,
- 14:22Speaker 7: it was Union's time to shine in the weekend. They
- 14:25Speaker 7: had no rugby league, no NRL. Peter Volandes wasn't there
- 14:29Speaker 7: just in the background cucking.
- 14:31Speaker 5: Away and annoying them.
- 14:32Speaker 7: They had the weekend to themselves. They had NPC quarterfinals,
- 14:36Speaker 7: and they had that game on Saturday night. I'd have
- 14:38Speaker 7: to say they've redeemed themselves on Saturday with that game.
- 14:41Speaker 5: Yeah, it was a brilliant game outside of the first
- 14:44Speaker 5: couple of minutes there when great shame was brought on
- 14:47Speaker 5: Eden Park and indeed the nation when they allowed the
- 14:49Speaker 5: Wallabies to score first. But open, free-flowing rugby. We were
- 14:52Speaker 5: just chatting about it off air, and I think the
- 14:55Speaker 5: 80-minute game took about 83 minutes instead of 110, 120. Perfect.
- 14:58Speaker 5: And the referee, I didn't even notice the bastard.
- 15:01Speaker 7: Yep, and also only one time the drinks people came on.
- 15:04Speaker 5: Oh, dude.
- 15:05Speaker 7: Only once that happened, and they were quickly sent off.
- 15:07Speaker 5: Yeah. So good stuff.
- 15:09Speaker 1: I mean, it leans it back.
- 15:11Speaker 7: Should we just maybe just get rid of.
- 15:12Speaker 5: South Africa out of world rugby? They're too good. I
- 15:14Speaker 5: don't know, man. Look, they just scream drug cheek.
- 15:18Speaker 7: Well, look, they've got some specimens that are suspiciously large.
- 15:21Speaker 5: And a suspicious amount of drug testing that goes the
- 15:24Speaker 5: wrong way over there, can I say?
- 15:26Speaker 7: Admittedly, allegedly, they do have a high percentage of negative
- 15:30Speaker 7: tests compared to other countries.
- 15:32Speaker 5: That's all I'm going to say. Does that make them
- 15:33Speaker 5: drug cheats?
- 15:35Speaker 7: No, no. Does it make them look like some of
- 15:38Speaker 7: their players are created in a lab?
- 15:40Speaker 4: Yes.
- 15:40Speaker 5: Yes, it does. But what it does do is it
- 15:43Speaker 5: makes for an interesting sort of cauldron at next year's
- 15:48Speaker 5: World Cup when, you know, which team is going to
- 15:51Speaker 5: win is really going to be hugely dependent on who
- 15:53Speaker 5: is reffing the game. And that makes how these coaches'
- 15:56Speaker 5: conversations with the ref and the open conversations that they
- 15:59Speaker 5: have with the media at the sit-downs, They're super important
- 16:04Speaker 5: going forward, man, because you know Razzie is a massive
- 16:07Speaker 5: lion's son of a bee. He doesn't care what he says. Oh,
- 16:10Speaker 5: absolutely does.
- 16:11Speaker 7: Yeah, that's one thing that they're slowly getting their head around,
- 16:14Speaker 7: I think, Union, is making the referee less important. I
- 16:17Speaker 7: didn't hear the TMO much either. In that game, which
- 16:20Speaker 7: was a blessing, because usually he's pasting away in the background,
- 16:23Speaker 7: picking up every nitpick and every little bit and bits
- 16:25Speaker 7: and pieces.
- 16:25Speaker 5: There was one moment with a knock-on, which I could
- 16:27Speaker 5: have done without, at the base of a ruck, which
- 16:29Speaker 5: I just thought, can we get on with our lives here?
- 16:31Speaker 7: Yeah, and there was another one where the charge down
- 16:34Speaker 7: from Peter Lukai and it went out in the fall.
- 16:36Speaker 7: I mean, I can understand that.
- 16:37Speaker 5: That one was fair enough. That was a fair enough one, yeah.
- 16:40Speaker 5: That was a howler.
- 16:41Speaker 4: But God bless Will Jordan.
- 16:44Speaker 7: Scored in the last minute of the play and basically
- 16:46Speaker 7: ticked off Hundreds of thousands of Maltese around the country.
- 16:50Speaker 4: A real crowd pleaser.
- 16:51Speaker 5: Yeah, and then we've got a follow-up this weekend against
- 16:54Speaker 5: the return match. It's a dead rubber.
- 16:56Speaker 7: Yeah, it's a dead rubber in Sydney at a core
- 16:58Speaker 7: at the unusual kick-off time of 6pm in New Zealand.
- 17:01Speaker 5: Oh, really?
- 17:02Speaker 7: Because it's a 4pm afternoon kick-off. Who would have thought
- 17:04Speaker 7: having a game at.
- 17:05Speaker 5: 4pm would get people interested?
- 17:07Speaker 7: In Sydney, so 6 o'clock here.
- 17:09Speaker 5: I can't wait. I love a mid-afternoon. Well, that's going
- 17:13Speaker 5: to be an absolute gem. We'll be trying out a
- 17:15Speaker 5: whole bunch of new players. We'll get you in on
- 17:17Speaker 5: Monday to have a yarn about it.
- 17:19Speaker 4: Thanks, G-Lane. That was Rugby Union chat without Hoare J.
- 17:22Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 17:25Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 17:28Speaker 3: No more lies, woke boy.
- 17:31Speaker 5: The truth is here.
- 17:35Speaker 4: I'm just taking my opportunity to swing those out.
- 17:38Speaker 5: It's great, man.
- 17:39Speaker 4: Swag boy and the truth. On the Hauraki Big Show,
- 17:41Speaker 4: Keezy and Horty J on holiday at the moment. Let's
- 17:43Speaker 4: have some TV chat.
- 17:46Speaker 3: What's on the telly with Mike Minogue.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:01Speaker 5: I forgot what I was doing there.
- 18:02Speaker 4: No, you're all G, man.
- 18:03Speaker 5: Let me change it up. I know I'm all good.
- 18:04Speaker 4: Oh.
- 18:06Speaker 5: Over the weekend, I watched a lot of stuff, actually.
- 18:08Speaker 5: Some of it was fairly heinous and not the sort
- 18:11Speaker 5: of thing you could talk about really on the show.
- 18:13Speaker 5: But there was one there on Netflix called The Puppet Master,
- 18:16Speaker 5: Hunting the Ultimate Con Man from 2022. It's got 100%
- 18:19Speaker 5: on rotten tomatoes there. It's about this fella there in
- 18:25Speaker 5: a chilling three-part documentary. It tells the extraordinary two-story of
- 18:28Speaker 5: a fella there who pretends, well, he's a British con
- 18:32Speaker 5: man and spends decades manipulating, controlling, and financially exploiting his victims.
- 18:37Speaker 5: Posing as an undercover MI5 agent, he convinced ordinary people
- 18:41Speaker 5: that their lives were in danger and that they were
- 18:43Speaker 5: involved in secret intelligent operations. He persuaded victims to abandon
- 18:47Speaker 5: their families, surrender their savings, and follow increasingly bizarre instructions.
- 18:52Speaker 5: Really amazing. So there's this one, there's part of it
- 18:55Speaker 5: that sort of starts, I don't know, maybe late 80s,
- 18:57Speaker 5: early 90s, and there's a school where a guy, a
- 19:00Speaker 5: university where a guy gets done for trafficking weapons for
- 19:05Speaker 5: the IRA.
- 19:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:06Speaker 5: And he's a student. And so then all the other
- 19:08Speaker 5: students at this college, this university, are now quite worried.
- 19:11Speaker 5: They're like, what's going on? And is he going to
- 19:12Speaker 5: be on his own? Are they working sales? What's going on?
- 19:15Speaker 5: So this one guy gets to talk at the student,
- 19:17Speaker 5: gets to talking to a guy at the pub, and
- 19:19Speaker 5: the guy at the pub's like, well, you know you're not.
- 19:21Speaker 5: You know, this guy wasn't working alone. There's another guy
- 19:24Speaker 5: who'd passed away in suspicious circumstances. And they said, this
- 19:28Speaker 5: guy was like, well, look, this is clearly the IRA
- 19:32Speaker 5: who's involved in this. You won't be safe. All this
- 19:36Speaker 5: sort of stuff. And he says, look, I'm an MI5 agent.
- 19:38Speaker 5: We've been keeping an eye on this school for obvious reasons.
- 19:43Speaker 5: And we believe that you're in danger. And so this
- 19:47Speaker 5: guy is feeling a bit uneasy anyway. He's like, well...
- 19:50Speaker 5: we can recruit you into the MI5. Anyway, so he
- 19:52Speaker 5: does this. He ends up taking his girlfriend with him
- 19:54Speaker 5: as well. And this guy gives half a million pounds
- 20:01Speaker 5: of his family's money to this guy, and this guy
- 20:04Speaker 5: is just driving them all over the UK and Europe.
- 20:07Speaker 5: All over the UK and Europe. The guy manages to
- 20:09Speaker 5: get out of it, but the woman has still got
- 20:11Speaker 5: access to more money. So he's just taking her around
- 20:13Speaker 5: from safe house to safe house. She works at all
- 20:16Speaker 5: these different places, has to give this guy the money
- 20:18Speaker 5: for protection because he's an MI5 agent protecting her from
- 20:22Speaker 5: the IRA. Oh my God. So this is one of
- 20:24Speaker 5: the stories, right? So doing all of this, she is
- 20:26Speaker 5: with him, bro, for 10 years.
- 20:28Speaker 4: 10 years.
- 20:30Speaker 5: And when they finally track this guy down, there's seven
- 20:35Speaker 5: other people like her. He's jetting all over the joint,
- 20:38Speaker 5: and they don't know if there's any more.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Is he just doing it, like sending them all around
- 20:42Speaker 4: via phone? He's just telling them where to go next?
- 20:44Speaker 5: No, no, he'll drive some of them around, then he
- 20:45Speaker 5: leaves them at a safe house, then he bails, obviously
- 20:48Speaker 5: goes to some of the others, and he's just doing
- 20:51Speaker 5: this all over the show.
- 20:52Speaker 4: And so he's doing it. It's obviously a monetary motivation.
- 20:54Speaker 5: Made millions of pounds, and also control, but he sold
- 20:59Speaker 5: really high-end cars and apparently was really brilliant at it,
- 21:02Speaker 5: but this guy's just off his head.
- 21:04Speaker 7: Yes.
- 21:04Speaker 5: Really amazing. Yeah, it's pretty out there. I mean, is
- 21:09Speaker 5: it great? Probably not great for the people involved, but
- 21:11Speaker 5: in terms of saying to watch, four and a half
- 21:14Speaker 5: buzzies out of a possible five on Netflix. The Puppet.
- 21:17Speaker 5: The Puppet Master. What was it? Hunting the Ultimate Con Man.
- 21:23Speaker 4: It's just a lot of admin for a lot of money.
- 21:26Speaker 4: Is that even worth it?
- 21:27Speaker 5: Just get into the.
- 21:28Speaker 4: Stock market or something.
- 21:29Speaker 5: But his joy is that every single day, he's doing you.
- 21:34Speaker 5: And nothing is more rewarding than just doing something.
- 21:37Speaker 4: Just absolutely doing, yeah. Speaking of being absolutely done, after five,
- 21:44Speaker 4: I got done. I was in Rotorua over the weekend
- 21:46Speaker 4: with my partner's family, trying to make a good impression,
- 21:49Speaker 4: and something sort of slightly went awry, but we'll get
- 21:52Speaker 4: into that after five. Plus, Mogi, your wife didn't come home, man.
- 21:57Speaker 5: We'll get into that after five as well.
- 22:02Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 22:05Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki. The Hodaki Big
- 22:09Speaker 2: Show with Jace and Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Welcome back you absolute sickos. It is The Big Show
- 22:16Speaker 4: brought to you by our good mates making the crave-worthy
- 22:18Speaker 4: street food freshly over at Reburg, yeah?
- 22:22Speaker 7: Mmm, yummy.
- 22:24Speaker 4: And you're with Wokeboy and the Truth. Who let Wokeboy in?
- 22:29Speaker 5: I'll pitch the truth. How good.
- 22:34Speaker 4: You're welcome. That was the name, uh, as voted by you,
- 22:38Speaker 4: by the way, for the Mogi and Pug show for
- 22:39Speaker 4: our final week. Uh, but there has been a late entry.
- 22:42Speaker 4: We want to know if, uh, we should just drop
- 22:44Speaker 4: that one entirely, uh, and go with the big shame
- 22:48Speaker 4: after Mogi, uh, stumbled over his words in the first
- 22:50Speaker 4: break of the show.
- 22:50Speaker 5: The Hauraki big shame, but there's something about it. There
- 22:53Speaker 5: is something about it. So worth, worth the go, I reckon.
- 22:55Speaker 4: Absolutely. Uh, now on the way this hour, uh, I
- 22:59Speaker 4: was in Rotorua with some of my partner's family over
- 23:01Speaker 4: the weekend. Uh, meeting a couple of them for the
- 23:04Speaker 4: very first time, and I got absolutely done.
- 23:08Speaker 5: I think we should talk about this next because there's
- 23:10Speaker 5: a possibility here that you, the audience, may have a similar,
- 23:13Speaker 5: and I'll be honest with you, I don't know the story.
- 23:15Speaker 5: I like to hear things fresh as the audience hears it,
- 23:18Speaker 5: but there's a possibility that the audience will have experienced
- 23:23Speaker 5: something similar when meeting their own in-laws.
- 23:26Speaker 4: Yes, and it also kind of ties in to the
- 23:30Speaker 4: chat last week about ICCS. Oh, yeah, right. You'll remember
- 23:34Speaker 4: on the show that my partner said that she didn't
- 23:37Speaker 4: have any icks for me, and then I said, okay,
- 23:39Speaker 4: what's the next closest thing? And then three texts in
- 23:41Speaker 4: a row came through.
- 23:42Speaker 5: That's right. And they were good, weren't they? There was
- 23:44Speaker 5: one of you also in front of the family, and
- 23:46Speaker 5: you embarrassed yourself when you were singing into a broomstick.
- 23:49Speaker 5: Absolutely hammered.
- 23:50Speaker 4: Yeah, a couple of them were there on the weekend, actually.
- 23:52Speaker 5: Shocking bastard.
- 23:53Speaker 4: And, well, let's just say. the next might add.
- 23:56Speaker 1: To the list good stuff so good.
- 23:58Speaker 4: Here's the arctic monkeys on the horaki big shame.
- 24:01Speaker 2: The horaki big show weekdays from four on radio horaki.
- 24:05Speaker 4: Garbage on the horaki big show with mogi and pugs
- 24:10Speaker 4: uh possibly known as woke boy and the truth now
- 24:12Speaker 4: mogi i've been in rotoroa all weekend yes sir uh
- 24:15Speaker 4: spending time with my partner's family her brother came over
- 24:20Speaker 4: with his partner and their new baby to visit from
- 24:22Speaker 4: the UK. So it was a bit of a celebration.
- 24:24Speaker 4: My partner was meeting the baby for the first time,
- 24:26Speaker 4: catching up with them, and her mother was there and
- 24:29Speaker 4: her older sister as well. I've met all of them
- 24:32Speaker 4: except for the brother-in-law and his partner. I talked about
- 24:35Speaker 4: that last week.
- 24:36Speaker 5: Had you met the baby?
- 24:37Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Wow. We go way back.
- 24:39Speaker 5: Okay.
- 24:40Speaker 4: And it was a really, really exciting, beautiful family time.
- 24:43Speaker 4: So we get there on Friday night, catch up. Everybody's
- 24:46Speaker 4: getting on like a house on fire. And the next
- 24:47Speaker 4: morning we walked through that redwood forest out there.
- 24:52Speaker 5: Bloody beautiful.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Beautiful walking tracks there. And then we got back and we.
- 24:56Speaker 5: So you met him on the first night?
- 24:58Speaker 4: Met him on the first night.
- 24:58Speaker 5: How's it going?
- 24:59Speaker 4: Good, great vibe. Like, it's not like we're totally different people.
- 25:04Speaker 5: Are you totally different people?
- 25:05Speaker 4: Totally different people.
- 25:07Speaker 5: It would be weird if you were the same person.
- 25:10Speaker 4: Thanks, man. You're so right. But it was going really well.
- 25:16Speaker 4: So we were all laughing together getting on. It was
- 25:18Speaker 4: actually really chill, and I felt like maybe we'd sort
- 25:20Speaker 4: of hyped up the whole brother-in-law thing a little bit
- 25:22Speaker 4: last week. But then we get to that next day,
- 25:25Speaker 4: and the family that, My partner comes from is quite a,
- 25:30Speaker 4: I would consider them, at least in comparison to me,
- 25:32Speaker 4: quite sophisticated, quite worldly, quite adventurous.
- 25:36Speaker 5: Okay.
- 25:37Speaker 4: And so we go for a walk in the Redwoods.
- 25:39Speaker 5: Well, you're adventurous because I've seen you in a beret.
- 25:41Speaker 5: And those tasseled shoes.
- 25:45Speaker 4: Different kind of adventurous.
- 25:46Speaker 5: And those shorts.
- 25:48Speaker 4: Different kind of adventurous, Moggy. So we go out for a–
- 25:52Speaker 4: we're staying on the lake in Rotorua.
- 25:53Speaker 5: Sure.
- 25:54Speaker 4: And there's some kayaks there, and we're like, oh, we'll
- 25:56Speaker 4: go have a kayak.
- 25:57Speaker 5: That's great.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 25:59Speaker 4: Now, they were– the brother and sister both went out
- 26:03Speaker 4: for a kayak, and then they brought them back in,
- 26:04Speaker 4: and my partner and I were like, oh, yeah, let's
- 26:05Speaker 4: give it a crack. And so the kayak that they
- 26:07Speaker 4: brought back for me was one of those more sort
- 26:09Speaker 4: of sportier kayaks.
- 26:11Speaker 5: It's got a lower centre of gravity for it. Slightly shorter.
- 26:14Speaker 5: You can't make any mistakes. That's right.
- 26:17Speaker 4: So we are kayaking out into the lake. So it's
- 26:21Speaker 4: my partner and I in separate kayaks, and then the
- 26:23Speaker 4: brother and his partner in a tandem. We're all going
- 26:27Speaker 4: out together to the buoy there, and it's going really well.
- 26:30Speaker 5: I'm flying. I'm absolutely flying across the board. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:33Speaker 4: And then we got to the buoy there, and then
- 26:35Speaker 4: I fell out of the kayak. Now, the good thing
- 26:38Speaker 4: about this lake was that it wasn't deep, so I
- 26:41Speaker 4: could stand up and try and get myself back in
- 26:43Speaker 4: the kayak. So I fall out of the kayak the
- 26:45Speaker 4: first time, it's whatever. You know, everybody's chill about that.
- 26:49Speaker 5: Can I just say that my concern here is immediately
- 26:51Speaker 5: you trying to get back into a kayak because that's
- 26:57Speaker 5: not going to be a great look. It feels like
- 26:59Speaker 5: you should just walk it back. Just hold on. Am
- 27:03Speaker 5: I on track here?
- 27:04Speaker 4: Just hold on.
- 27:05Speaker 5: Okay.
- 27:06Speaker 4: So I'd already kayaked for about 200 metres out and
- 27:09Speaker 4: it was bloody awesome and there was no drama. But
- 27:10Speaker 4: then I fell out the first time and something must
- 27:12Speaker 4: have ticked.
- 27:12Speaker 5: The first time.
- 27:14Speaker 4: Something must have ticked where I lost my confidence because
- 27:16Speaker 4: then I got back in the kayak and then fell
- 27:18Speaker 4: out of the kayak.
- 27:20Speaker 5: Well, that's good that you got back into it.
- 27:21Speaker 4: Yeah, so then I'm getting in the kayak, but then
- 27:23Speaker 4: I'm tipping over the other side and falling back out
- 27:25Speaker 4: of the kayak.
- 27:25Speaker 5: Oh, that's what I wondered.
- 27:26Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 27:26Speaker 5: So you're not spending any real time in there. You're
- 27:27Speaker 5: just getting in there, overbalancing and falling out again. That's right.
- 27:30Speaker 5: So it's like a comedy of errors. It's like if
- 27:32Speaker 5: you were going to put something into a romantic comedy
- 27:34Speaker 5: to give everybody the ick, it would be that.
- 27:37Speaker 4: Well, my partner is absolutely pissing herself laughing. Her mother
- 27:42Speaker 4: and her older sister are on the beach watching, and
- 27:45Speaker 4: the brother-in-law is miles ahead with his partner.
- 27:47Speaker 5: Oh, great. So they can't see it.
- 27:49Speaker 4: No, they could see it.
- 27:50Speaker 5: Okay.
- 27:52Speaker 4: Then I get back in the kayak, and I go
- 27:53Speaker 4: for a little further. We're like, you know what? Let's
- 27:55Speaker 4: go to the other boy. Big mistake. Oh. So I'm
- 27:57Speaker 4: going to a second boy now, and I'm flying again.
- 28:00Speaker 5: Big boy. It feels good.
- 28:00Speaker 4: I'm like, maybe I can recover this. Fell out of
- 28:02Speaker 4: the kayak. Again.
- 28:04Speaker 5: Did anyone else fall out of any of the kayaks?
- 28:05Speaker 4: Nobody fell out of any kayaks.
- 28:07Speaker 5: Just me.
- 28:08Speaker 4: So it's like watching a wounded animal. I'm trying to
- 28:12Speaker 4: get back into this kayak. I'm falling out of the
- 28:14Speaker 4: kayak to the point where my partner went ahead and
- 28:17Speaker 4: then the brother got back to shore and then the
- 28:22Speaker 4: sister got in the tandem kayak to come out and
- 28:24Speaker 4: get me in the kayak. And I'm like, I'm not
- 28:26Speaker 4: getting in your kayak. I don't need a rescue team.
- 28:28Speaker 4: So I walked the kayak back in. 200 meters. So
- 28:36Speaker 4: if my partner didn't have any X, we made it fellas.
- 28:43Speaker 4: Beautiful rest of the weekend, though.
- 28:44Speaker 5: I don't know what to say. I really don't. Yeah.
- 28:47Speaker 4: Here's the phoey's.
- 28:49Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 28:53Speaker 4: It's Lincoln Park on the Hauraki Big Show with Pugs
- 28:56Speaker 4: and Mogi. And that roar of the encore for Gigalittle
- 28:59Speaker 4: could go off at any time. That's your chance to
- 29:01Speaker 4: win your share of $ 10, 000 we've got to give away
- 29:04Speaker 4: across the month. $ 250 every single day. More often than not,
- 29:09Speaker 4: twice a day. for you to put towards a gig,
- 29:13Speaker 4: a festival, or a concert of your choice. Thanks to
- 29:15Speaker 4: the legends at Super Liquor. Cheers to gigs. Cheers to
- 29:18Speaker 4: Super Liquor. And we've got Big Dilly in studio for
- 29:21Speaker 4: a bit of Bathurst chat.
- 29:29Speaker 5: I think this will be the first time we've ever
- 29:32Speaker 5: discussed motorsport on the show.
- 29:34Speaker 4: That's not true, Mogi, because we did a tease for
- 29:36Speaker 4: it last week.
- 29:38Speaker 5: Ah, a tease? What kind of a tease? We got Dilly...
- 29:40Speaker 5: got to let you know. I have no interest in
- 29:45Speaker 5: motorsport at all, but I can't wait to hear about this.
- 29:48Speaker 4: Just you wait. Just you wait, Mogi. Yes, no, the
- 29:51Speaker 4: great race was yesterday. The word great is probably doing.
- 29:56Speaker 5: I think the great race is you're sort of on
- 29:59Speaker 5: treacherous grounds, sort of spraying that kind of chat around.
- 30:02Speaker 8: Yeah, especially off the back of what went down yesterday.
- 30:05Speaker 8: It could be argued as possibly one of the most
- 30:08Speaker 8: boring Bathursts in recent memory. It took quite a while
- 30:12Speaker 8: for anything interesting to happen at all. I think it
- 30:15Speaker 8: now has the record for the longest, the most amount
- 30:18Speaker 8: of laps before a safety car came out. And safety
- 30:21Speaker 8: cars are Unfortunately, one of the more interesting things that
- 30:24Speaker 8: happened at Badgerst.
- 30:25Speaker 5: Because it normally means there's been a big crash.
- 30:27Speaker 4: Yeah, or something's gone wrong. It means it took five
- 30:28Speaker 4: hours before there was a big crash, yeah.
- 30:30Speaker 5: Five hours.
- 30:31Speaker 4: Was the crash worth it, though? It was pretty good, yeah.
- 30:34Speaker 8: If you're a motorsport fanatic like me, it was five
- 30:37Speaker 8: hours of basically pure edging before a nice 10-lap shootout
- 30:40Speaker 8: at the tail end there.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Right.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Yeah, good climax.
- 30:44Speaker 5: So.
- 30:44Speaker 4: Fantastic mate. And you were in the Beccia lounge, weren't you?
- 30:47Speaker 1: I certainly was, yeah.
- 30:48Speaker 8: It was me and then just an array of guests
- 30:50Speaker 8: that were coming on past. We had myself, Matt Heath,
- 30:53Speaker 8: we had Beck Sandys, we had old Beccia Blake, we
- 30:56Speaker 8: had Zoe from the Hodickey Breakfast come on past.
- 30:59Speaker 6: Right.
- 30:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 31:00Speaker 8: And it was, yeah, six hours of straight live streaming
- 31:03Speaker 8: Crushing Tins.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Excellent.
- 31:05Speaker 4: And who won? Brodie Kostecki was the winner.
- 31:09Speaker 8: There was a little bit of drama at the, I
- 31:11Speaker 8: think it was the last couple of laps, maybe two.
- 31:13Speaker 5: Or three laps.
- 31:14Speaker 8: Where Anton Dean Bisqually, probably butchered his name there, he
- 31:18Speaker 8: had a bit of a commanding lead.
- 31:19Speaker 4: It ran out of fuel.
- 31:20Speaker 5: It ran out of gas. It ran out of gas, yeah.
- 31:23Speaker 4: So a bit of a stuff-up from the team there.
- 31:24Speaker 4: It's embarrassing in a car race.
- 31:26Speaker 8: Yeah, well, there's only a certain amount of pit stops
- 31:28Speaker 8: you can have and fuel stops, et cetera, but they
- 31:30Speaker 8: took a gamble.
- 31:31Speaker 5: Didn't work. Didn't pay off. And you had a Kiwi
- 31:34Speaker 5: fellow that won it last year. pain was it that
- 31:37Speaker 5: you were hoping would win it this year.
- 31:38Speaker 8: Yes and he was showing some serious pace but unfortunately
- 31:42Speaker 8: he got a penalty because one of his pit crew
- 31:45Speaker 8: let a tire go walkabouts it was slowly rolling so
- 31:48Speaker 8: someone that was not authorized to be in the pits
- 31:51Speaker 8: jumped over to grab it and that is a big
- 31:53Speaker 8: no-no so he got a drive-through penalty it's a really
- 31:56Speaker 8: big no-no yeah so it was a bit unfortunate because
- 31:59Speaker 8: he was showing some serious pace right um but hey
- 32:02Speaker 8: then the rules yeah Well done.
- 32:04Speaker 4: Thanks, Big Dilly. On the way after six, we got
- 32:08Speaker 4: your chance to fly up for Chasing the Fox. And,
- 32:10Speaker 4: of course, I'll be diving back into the Hauraki archives
- 32:12Speaker 4: for another best bit here on The Big Show.
- 32:17Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 32:20Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
- 32:23Speaker 4: Yeah, welcome back, you massive backbones. It's The Hauraki Big
- 32:26Speaker 4: Show with Wokeboy and The Truth, a.k.a.
- 32:28Speaker 5: Pugs.
- 32:29Speaker 4: An old bogey, and it's brought to you by our
- 32:30Speaker 4: good mates at Reburger, the fellas that make the crave-worthy
- 32:34Speaker 4: street food freshly made at Reburger. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum. Yum.
- 32:39Speaker 5: Don't we get a Wake Boy and the Truth sting?
- 32:41Speaker 4: Oh.
- 32:42Speaker 5: Feels like we should.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Really?
- 32:43Speaker 4: I just, I don't know. I don't want it to
- 32:44Speaker 4: be premature because obviously we're still polling.
- 32:47Speaker 5: That's true.
- 32:47Speaker 4: Informally polling Wake Boy and the Truth or the Big Shame.
- 32:51Speaker 5: The Big Shame.
- 32:52Speaker 4: The Hodaki Big Shame.
- 32:54Speaker 5: Does that mean, though, that we can't say the Hauraki
- 32:58Speaker 5: Big Shame with Mogi and Pugs? Should we be giving
- 33:02Speaker 5: those options, or is it too hard? I don't think
- 33:04Speaker 5: our names are going to be Mogi and Pugs at
- 33:06Speaker 5: the end of all of this.
- 33:07Speaker 4: No, I still think it should be Wokeboy and the
- 33:09Speaker 4: Truth because it's been it before, and the people have asked.
- 33:12Speaker 5: For it again. Yeah, which means you're not going to
- 33:13Speaker 5: get your wish.
- 33:14Speaker 4: Yeah, which I'm sad about.
- 33:16Speaker 5: Well, okay.
- 33:16Speaker 4: Well, I'll tell you what. I'll fire off your favorite
- 33:18Speaker 4: sting anyway, just because I love you.
- 33:26Speaker 5: Yeah, it's great.
- 33:27Speaker 4: You like that one?
- 33:27Speaker 5: Yeah, I do.
- 33:28Speaker 4: Now, on the way this hour, we're going to dive
- 33:30Speaker 4: back into the Hauraki archives with another iconic best bit
- 33:34Speaker 4: from the show. And this one sort of is in
- 33:37Speaker 4: relation to the public perception of us and our partners
- 33:40Speaker 4: and the fact that every single person in the Hauraki
- 33:42Speaker 4: Big Shame team is punching above their weight.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Yes.
- 33:46Speaker 4: And also details about how you could get flown up
- 33:48Speaker 4: to Tāmaki Makaurau for chasing the fox. How good. Here's
- 33:51Speaker 4: some red hot chilli peppers.
- 33:54Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 33:58Speaker 4: It's Pearl Jam on the Hauraki Big Show. You've got
- 34:01Speaker 4: Wig Boy and the Truth.
- 34:02Speaker 5: Bit of a sad one here, mate. Today is the
- 34:06Speaker 5: fifth anniversary of the passing of a friend of mine, well,
- 34:08Speaker 5: really the daughter of some friends of mine, She was
- 34:12Speaker 5: 15 years old when she passed away from DIPG, which
- 34:16Speaker 5: is diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, which is a high-grade cancer
- 34:21Speaker 5: that grows like a spider web throughout the brain. So
- 34:26Speaker 5: these are good mates of ours. They came up, them
- 34:28Speaker 5: and the three kids, came and stayed with us when
- 34:30Speaker 5: we were living over in Waiheke at the time. And yeah,
- 34:35Speaker 5: she was Just an absolutely legendary kid, 15 years old, brilliant, smart, sarcastic, beautiful,
- 34:45Speaker 5: terrorising the boys, just a brilliant kid. And then only
- 34:49Speaker 5: a couple of three weeks or so after they left us,
- 34:52Speaker 5: she got diagnosed with this and it was pretty quick
- 34:57Speaker 5: between her getting that diagnosis and then passing away. Just
- 35:01Speaker 5: an absolute tragedy. But before she passed away, she set
- 35:04Speaker 5: up with the help of her parents, Jemima's Wish, which
- 35:07Speaker 5: you can go to jemimaswish.com. And about this time every year,
- 35:12Speaker 5: I just try and remind people, I know that, you know,
- 35:14Speaker 5: there's a hell of a lot of causes out there.
- 35:17Speaker 5: There's a lot of different ways to give you money.
- 35:19Speaker 5: There's a lot of people that can't afford to give
- 35:22Speaker 5: anything at all. And so completely understand, but just want
- 35:25Speaker 5: to put this one in front of people. This is
- 35:28Speaker 5: to raise money to be given to and this is
- 35:31Speaker 5: slightly weird, but one of the leading laboratories in the world,
- 35:34Speaker 5: which is based over in Australia, and they do research,
- 35:38Speaker 5: this affects a lot of kids. It's a very rare disease. And,
- 35:43Speaker 5: you know, give cancer its credit, man. It takes a
- 35:46Speaker 5: million different shapes and forms, and one cure for one
- 35:50Speaker 5: cancer does absolutely nothing for another. So This is just
- 35:54Speaker 5: another opportunity for you to be able to try and
- 35:56Speaker 5: do something. Get along to just jump on jemimerswish.com and
- 36:00Speaker 5: have a read about what this is and what they're
- 36:03Speaker 5: trying to do. If you go to the donate page,
- 36:05Speaker 5: there's a button there that says let me at them.
- 36:08Speaker 5: But you don't even have to do that. Maybe just
- 36:10Speaker 5: give it a read and see what you think and
- 36:12Speaker 5: just put it on your radar as a potential place.
- 36:14Speaker 5: If you've got some spare money, if you're somebody that
- 36:16Speaker 5: does donate, This is a great, great cause. Her parents
- 36:21Speaker 5: are tremendous human beings. Her two brothers and Jemima was
- 36:24Speaker 5: an incredible person. Very proud and pleased that I got
- 36:27Speaker 5: to have her as part of my life. And so
- 36:30Speaker 5: today on the fifth anniversary of her passing, I'm thinking
- 36:33Speaker 5: about her and hopefully we can raise some money for her. Thanks, Mogi.
- 36:36Speaker 4: I mean, I had no idea what that was until
- 36:38Speaker 4: you just explained it. So at minimum, just doing a
- 36:41Speaker 4: bit of research and learning about what it is can
- 36:43Speaker 4: be a hell of a lot of help.
- 36:45Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 36:49Speaker 4: News on the Hauraki Big Show. You've got Pugs and
- 36:52Speaker 4: Mogi here. And we've got your chance to get flown
- 36:55Speaker 4: from anywhere in the country to join us at Kiwi
- 36:58Speaker 4: Bank chasing the fox. Ryan Fox coming home after the
- 37:01Speaker 4: biggest win of his career, Mogi. He's a lovely bloke.
- 37:04Speaker 7: He is.
- 37:05Speaker 5: Well, I don't know. I've never met him.
- 37:07Speaker 4: Oh, really? Were you here when we chatted to him
- 37:09Speaker 4: on breakfast?
- 37:10Speaker 5: No.
- 37:10Speaker 4: Oh, that must have been Jase Kesey and I. I
- 37:12Speaker 4: think you might have been away. He came in and
- 37:14Speaker 4: he's a handsome fella.
- 37:16Speaker 5: Is he?
- 37:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I think so.
- 37:17Speaker 5: Right, right.
- 37:17Speaker 4: Dilly, what do you reckon in Studio B?
- 37:19Speaker 5: Handsome?
- 37:19Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah. But he is coming home, and we're
- 37:23Speaker 4: giving you the chance to fly with a mate to
- 37:25Speaker 4: see him play at Chasing the Fox. It is a
- 37:27Speaker 4: great party every single year. And, of course, there's golf involved,
- 37:31Speaker 4: but that's not really why we're there. It's happening on
- 37:33Speaker 4: December 11th. Two of Kiwi's biggest golfing stars, both Foxy
- 37:37Speaker 4: and his playing partner, Dan Hillier, they're going to go
- 37:39Speaker 4: head-to-head at Royal Auckland in Grange, which is a very,
- 37:43Speaker 4: very nice golf course.
- 37:44Speaker 5: It's very plush. I've got some great thoughts on it,
- 37:47Speaker 5: but I best not share them on the radio. But yeah,
- 37:49Speaker 5: and it's a hell of an event because I don't
- 37:52Speaker 5: really think that there's anything else like it in the world.
- 37:55Speaker 5: It's quite unique. There's six holes. Everybody competes over the
- 37:58Speaker 5: same six holes and there's a variety of different teams,
- 38:02Speaker 5: be it celebrities or sports stars or you might even
- 38:06Speaker 5: have some politicians here. David Seymour was wandering around holding
- 38:10Speaker 5: hands with his missus, you know, either last time or
- 38:13Speaker 5: the time before. His missus in one hand and his
- 38:16Speaker 5: driver in the other. And then you have Ryan Fox
- 38:21Speaker 5: and his playing partner coming down last of all and
- 38:24Speaker 5: trying to catch the field. So it's a bloody good idea.
- 38:28Speaker 5: And then the televised side of things is sort of
- 38:30Speaker 5: where all the drinking stations, the bars, the food and
- 38:34Speaker 5: all that sort of thing are in and around that
- 38:36Speaker 5: final hole. So You're always aiming or hoping for a
- 38:39Speaker 5: really exciting final hole. And, you know, I think last year,
- 38:45Speaker 5: the year before last, we were first there, Fox got smashed,
- 38:47Speaker 5: and then last year he smashed everyone else.
- 38:49Speaker 4: Yep, yep.
- 38:50Speaker 5: So, yeah, it is a fantastic event. Really recommend getting
- 38:52Speaker 5: involved if you can.
- 38:53Speaker 4: And, obviously, the Hauraki team will be there as well,
- 38:56Speaker 4: so come hang out with us. Enter now at hauraki.co.nz.
- 38:59Speaker 4: You could win flights from anywhere in the country, a hotel,
- 39:01Speaker 4: and tickets to Kiwi Bank Chasing the Fox. Here's some
- 39:05Speaker 4: Led Zepp on Hauraki.
- 39:06Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 39:09Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 39:11Speaker 4: It's LMNOP on the Hauraki Big Show. You've got Pugs
- 39:14Speaker 4: and Mogi here diving into the archives for another best
- 39:18Speaker 4: bit just to sort of fill the void that Keezy
- 39:21Speaker 4: and Horty J have left behind. And this one's from
- 39:23Speaker 4: this time a couple of years ago. You might have noticed, Mogi,
- 39:27Speaker 4: in the comments of our Come Dine With Me videos.
- 39:28Speaker 4: They feature our partners. and immediately everybody jumped onto the
- 39:32Speaker 4: fact that not one member of the big show is
- 39:34Speaker 4: not punching above their weight when it comes to their partner.
- 39:38Speaker 4: But Jase actually discovered this a couple of years ago
- 39:40Speaker 4: when somebody confronted him about it at a social event.
- 39:43Speaker 5: Now listen, I wanted to.
- 39:45Speaker 6: Ask you guys a question. And it's to do with
- 39:48Speaker 6: your partners, and you both have lovely wives, as do I.
- 39:52Speaker 6: And I wonder if you guys have been told on occasions,
- 39:56Speaker 6: or more than one occasion, geez, Mogey, you're punching, mate,
- 40:02Speaker 6: in reference to your partner, or geez, Keezy, you're punching, mate.
- 40:08Speaker 3: In reference to your partner. And just to clarify, I know.
- 40:10Speaker 6: 99% of the audience out there will know what I'm
- 40:13Speaker 6: talking about, but maybe 1% don't know what I mean
- 40:16Speaker 6: by punching. Obviously, the idea is you're punching above your weight,
- 40:20Speaker 6: and the insinuation is you're a hideous beast, and your partner...
- 40:27Speaker 6: Is an attractive human being.
- 40:28Speaker 5: That's right.
- 40:29Speaker 3: Because I'll be honest with you, that's happened to me
- 40:32Speaker 3: many times.
- 40:33Speaker 5: Oh, hundreds. Yeah, definitely. In my life.
- 40:36Speaker 6: And, you know, because I look at you, Mogi, and
- 40:38Speaker 6: you're an absolute stallion of a man, and you know
- 40:41Speaker 6: how I feel about your looks and stuff. I find
- 40:43Speaker 6: it distracting. So maybe it's not the case for you. And,
- 40:46Speaker 6: I mean, Keezy, you've got a kind of– I mean, Keezy,
- 40:51Speaker 6: I mean, you're sort of– Yeah.
- 40:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:54Speaker 3: You've got a, how can I, like a goofy charm.
- 40:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 40:59Speaker 3: You know, so maybe it's not ever happened to you.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Well, no, it certainly has happened.
- 41:04Speaker 5: Right.
- 41:06Speaker 1: You know, because every relationship, there's always one person is
- 41:09Speaker 1: bound to be punching regardless. You're never going to be
- 41:11Speaker 1: the same.
- 41:12Speaker 5: Sure.
- 41:12Speaker 1: You know what I mean? And, of course, everyone, I
- 41:15Speaker 1: think you should think that you are punching.
- 41:17Speaker 5: You know?
- 41:18Speaker 4: Right.
- 41:18Speaker 1: So I think that I am punching.
- 41:20Speaker 3: Oh, I most certainly know I am.
- 41:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:22Speaker 4: Mogi?
- 41:23Speaker 5: Well, I mean, this is the thing, Joe. It's like
- 41:25Speaker 5: you saying that I'm, you know, an Adonis and all
- 41:27Speaker 5: those sorts of things. My wife is, you know, probably
- 41:30Speaker 5: the most wonderful human being on the face of the earth.
- 41:34Speaker 5: But in the looks department, she's rugged. You know, we're
- 41:38Speaker 5: sort of talking a two, two and a half. And
- 41:40Speaker 5: that was deliberate on my part, outside of the fact
- 41:42Speaker 5: that I fell in love with her. But I don't
- 41:44Speaker 5: need the spotlight shifting away from old Mogi.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good point.
- 41:48Speaker 3: That's why I brought it up, man. That's why I
- 41:49Speaker 3: brought it up.
- 41:50Speaker 5: And that answers a lot.
- 41:51Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Yeah, because I've been wanting to ask about that.
- 41:53Speaker 6: Well, and the reason that I bring it up is
- 41:55Speaker 6: because I had a random memory today, and it was
- 41:57Speaker 6: something that affected me back in the day, and I've
- 42:00Speaker 6: obviously never forgotten about it.
- 42:02Speaker 3: And this is a totally true story. I was at
- 42:04Speaker 3: a party, right?
- 42:05Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Hang on, that doesn't sound right.
- 42:07Speaker 6: No, this is many years ago when I sort of
- 42:09Speaker 6: went to parties.
- 42:10Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 42:13Speaker 3: And I was talking to this fella and he said, oh,
- 42:17Speaker 3: I know your wife. Your wife is blah, blah, blah.
- 42:21Speaker 5: And I went, yeah, that's right.
- 42:24Speaker 6: And he said, oh, and he sort of gave me
- 42:26Speaker 6: a quizzical look and he went, and you're her husband.
- 42:28Speaker 6: And I went, yeah, that's right. And he looked at
- 42:30Speaker 6: me and he said, oh, I thought you'd be much
- 42:33Speaker 6: better looking.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:35Speaker 3: And the thing that struck me about it was it
- 42:38Speaker 3: wasn't said in jest.
- 42:40Speaker 1: He was genuinely surprised.
- 42:41Speaker 3: He was genuinely surprised.
- 42:43Speaker 5: He was being earnest.
- 42:43Speaker 6: That I was such a hideous beast.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:46Speaker 6: And that this very attractive, beautiful, wonderful human being deemed
- 42:51Speaker 6: to sort of spend even time with me or be
- 42:53Speaker 6: near me.
- 42:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:55Speaker 3: And I've never forgotten that.
- 42:57Speaker 5: Nor should you. But I mean....
- 43:03Speaker 1: What do you want us to do, like make you
- 43:04Speaker 1: feel better?
- 43:05Speaker 5: Well, I mean, I'm obviously not... I mean, the guy.
- 43:07Speaker 1: Knows his stuff.
- 43:09Speaker 3: I'm obviously not a complete beast.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Well, the guy had eyes. You know what I mean?
- 43:13Speaker 3: Yeah, but I think he might have been pretty steamed
- 43:15Speaker 3: or something.
- 43:15Speaker 5: Yeah, and even still, like normally you get steamed and
- 43:18Speaker 5: people look better. And still.
- 43:22Speaker 5: Yeah, good point. There you go. Well, yeah, look, it's
- 43:25Speaker 5: a harsh reality some of us have to face at
- 43:28Speaker 5: certain points in our lives, isn't it? So best not
- 43:31Speaker 5: to question it and even still best not to question
- 43:34Speaker 5: it and bring it in to us and think that
- 43:35Speaker 5: you're going to get any kind of sympathy.
- 43:36Speaker 4: Especially when we've all been cool punching on the show now.
- 43:39Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 43:43Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 43:56Speaker 3: There you go.
- 44:01Speaker 4: There's the first of the last week of the Mogi
- 44:04Speaker 4: and Pug show. Done and dusted, Mogi, man.
- 44:07Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 44:08Speaker 4: Your plans for tonight, please.
- 44:10Speaker 5: What have I got? I've got to go home, get
- 44:13Speaker 5: some dinner sorted, and not a hell of a lot else.
- 44:18Speaker 5: I've got this new book that I'm reading. Oh, yeah?
- 44:21Speaker 5: Which is by Ari Emanuel. So you know the guy that...
- 44:24Speaker 5: was the agent Ari in the TV show Entourage. Jeremy Piven,
- 44:29Speaker 5: you had him in here.
- 44:29Speaker 4: Yes, we interviewed him.
- 44:30Speaker 5: It was a huge show back in sort of the mid-2000s,
- 44:32Speaker 5: I guess. That was based on a real agent over
- 44:36Speaker 5: in Hollywood, so he's done an autobiography, which I started reading. Yeah,
- 44:41Speaker 5: I'm a few pages in. I hope the writing style
- 44:43Speaker 5: changes a bit. He's coming across like a real douchebag,
- 44:46Speaker 5: but we'll see. Well, yeah, I know. Jeremy Piven's thing is,
- 44:51Speaker 5: but I'm expecting more dimensions in that. So we'll see
- 44:54Speaker 5: how we go. I am very early on in the read,
- 44:56Speaker 5: but I've been looking forward to it for a while.
- 44:58Speaker 4: Speaking of reading, I actually picked up Carrie.
- 45:01Speaker 5: Oh, yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 45:03Speaker 4: To celebrate the new show. Started reading the book. You
- 45:06Speaker 4: know what? I'm excited to read a Stephen King book
- 45:09Speaker 4: that's not a million pages long.
- 45:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 45:11Speaker 4: But the way he talks about his main character, like
- 45:15Speaker 4: obviously Carrie's like a sort of down and out type character.
- 45:18Speaker 4: that gets bullied at school, but the way that he
- 45:21Speaker 4: describes it is absolutely brutal.
- 45:23Speaker 5: Is it really? 100%.
- 45:23Speaker 4: Oh, great. Every single action she takes, it's done fatly
- 45:29Speaker 4: or in an ugly way or something like that.
- 45:31Speaker 5: Isn't that the sort of thing I'd find funny?
- 45:34Speaker 4: I hate to say it, but.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe.
- 45:37Speaker 5: So who knows?
- 45:38Speaker 4: Maybe I'll have a read of that, but probably not
- 45:39Speaker 4: because I'm pretty knackered. I'm going back to Hootie J's
- 45:42Speaker 4: house tonight.
- 45:43Speaker 5: Oh, yes.
- 45:44Speaker 4: I completely forgot that I'm sitting up for another couple
- 45:46Speaker 4: of nights. So who knows? Maybe I'll have some more
- 45:48Speaker 4: time to do another prank or something like that. Maybe
- 45:50Speaker 4: we can revisit that. But I did put up photos
- 45:54Speaker 4: of my little face in a couple of photos. So
- 45:57Speaker 4: we'll wait and see when eventually that investment returns. But
- 46:01Speaker 4: I'll just be chilling. I'll get some takeaways, watch some TV,
- 46:03Speaker 4: and maybe go to bed early because I'm pretty knackered.
- 46:05Speaker 5: Yeah, good on you, man.
- 46:06Speaker 4: But that's us on the Hotaki Big Show. There is
- 46:07Speaker 4: a disclaimer podcast out tonight, another one from 2022. And
- 46:13Speaker 4: so get around that. That'll be out at 7.30 with
- 46:15Speaker 4: the full show podcast if you missed anything that we've
- 46:17Speaker 4: talked about live on air today.
- 46:20Speaker 5: All right.
- 46:20Speaker 4: Have a beautiful night. See you later.
