- 1:02Speaker 1: I feel like forty years in the business. Yes, that is.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I was there from the from the beginning when they
- 1:10Speaker 1: grew out the concrete.
- 1:12Speaker 3: I was we appreciate your contributions to the culture because,
- 1:15Speaker 3: you know, without you and you know, in the group.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Of course, I don't know if we would have had
- 1:21Speaker 3: other female groups to follow. They had to see something,
- 1:25Speaker 3: you know, So it was a lot of solo artists,
- 1:27Speaker 3: but I feel like you were one of You guys
- 1:29Speaker 3: were one of the most major groups that came through
- 1:32Speaker 3: that that you guys dance. Yeah, it was like a
- 1:35Speaker 3: party every time y'all dropped the song.
- 1:37Speaker 1: We came out and did that crossover things like overseas.
- 1:41Speaker 1: It was fun, man, you know, selling millions of records
- 1:44Speaker 1: out the gate. I think we were one of the
- 1:46Speaker 1: first ones to really like introduce women in hip hop
- 1:50Speaker 1: to the planet. The most part won all the awards.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I think they ran out they ain't got no more. Yeah,
- 1:56Speaker 1: got awards?
- 2:02Speaker 3: Yes, what keeps you excited to continue to do? You know,
- 2:07Speaker 3: press because I don't think you have to do this
- 2:09Speaker 3: if you don't want to.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Well, actually, I'm promoting an independent project, right God, That's
- 2:16Speaker 1: why I'm outside. Okay, it's called Salty and Lit. It's
- 2:20Speaker 1: me solo, not a solo artist, just a project, and
- 2:23Speaker 1: it's really catering to my generation gen X OL the millennials.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I'm not trying to get the kids involved. I ain't
- 2:30Speaker 1: on ay algorithm. You know, there's a you in your
- 2:32Speaker 1: own algorithm. I want my own algorithm. And there's a
- 2:35Speaker 1: whole set of grown folks that's listening to music and
- 2:38Speaker 1: looking for music that are very excited about legacy artists
- 2:42Speaker 1: not aging out and feeling like we're too old to
- 2:45Speaker 1: do what we do. This is what we do and
- 2:47Speaker 1: making good music that they can listen to. I get
- 2:49Speaker 1: all the comments like, oh my god, this is something
- 2:51Speaker 1: I can listen to with my kids, with my grandkids.
- 2:54Speaker 1: It's a niche that's being ignored. And they got money.
- 2:59Speaker 3: In fact, no they don't.
- 3:00Speaker 1: The only ones got money.
- 3:01Speaker 3: The only one got going down there that.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Age, you getting a little young, the benefit money. I
- 3:10Speaker 1: ain't catering to these kids. Know if they find me
- 3:13Speaker 1: and they like it straight, but that's not my focus.
- 3:17Speaker 4: You know what I mean now that you're still hungry though,
- 3:19Speaker 4: and you're still putting out albums because it's great to
- 3:21Speaker 4: see because you know a lot of a lot of
- 3:24Speaker 4: artists and like our I guess community, people feel like
- 3:28Speaker 4: when they reach a certain age, they got to retire.
- 3:31Speaker 4: Oh they can't put out anymore.
- 3:32Speaker 5: But other genres they don't and other genres, this hip
- 3:34Speaker 5: hop is the only genre that they age out, you know,
- 3:38Speaker 5: and they don't do that overseas, Like overseas, any artists
- 3:41Speaker 5: don't matter.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Hip Hop a legend is a legend.
- 3:44Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 3:45Speaker 1: They don't be like this. It's better now, it's better now,
- 3:48Speaker 1: it's getting it is getting better, because that's stupid, like
- 3:51Speaker 1: it has been like like a, uh was Aretha Franklin.
- 3:55Speaker 1: It has been was you know, people that did great
- 3:58Speaker 1: things has been only hip hop has been, which is
- 4:03Speaker 1: so disrespectful to the architects.
- 4:05Speaker 4: You know.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Na's been putting out music. I'm just discovering he on
- 4:09Speaker 1: like his twelfth album. You know, he never stopped because
- 4:11Speaker 1: he's a real artist. So I'm like, I got something
- 4:14Speaker 1: to say. I feel like there's people that want to
- 4:16Speaker 1: hear it. I'm just gonna do what I do. I'm
- 4:18Speaker 1: not trying to get put on.
- 4:19Speaker 3: I'm on you know, are you forty years in?
- 4:23Speaker 1: That's why I actually like, how long have you been
- 4:25Speaker 1: knowing this?
- 4:26Speaker 4: Yes?
- 4:26Speaker 3: A long time. I enjoy creating. Now you on ball alert,
- 4:30Speaker 3: It's time to get a little ratchet. It's time for
- 4:32Speaker 3: you got me if what's the last time you got
- 4:35Speaker 3: pissed off or triggered by somebody or something.
- 4:38Speaker 1: I have been working so hard on getting the stress
- 4:44Speaker 1: out of my life, you know what I mean. Like
- 4:46Speaker 1: that's something that you learned older. Like there's people around
- 4:49Speaker 1: you that's stressing you out that don't need to be there.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I love you, I love you from afar so the
- 4:54Speaker 1: last I got. It's all I swear. I have no
- 4:59Speaker 1: hard time remember.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Oh, So you're doing a good job of keeping the
- 5:03Speaker 3: boundaries up journey. That's good, that's great.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I'm good with a lot of people that I wasn't
- 5:08Speaker 1: good with when I was in the wrong. God showed
- 5:11Speaker 1: me and showed me how to make amends and be
- 5:14Speaker 1: accountable for my own stuff. I've learned how to communicate better.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I'm okay, you know what I mean. I know you
- 5:21Speaker 1: had it the next one, Yes, very happy fifty three years.
- 5:24Speaker 3: I'm surprised you don't got no nixt memorabilia.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I had mixed crazy I had yesterday. Y'all got pissed
- 5:34Speaker 1: off sometimes.
- 5:37Speaker 3: When our socials ain't on point, because you know, we
- 5:40Speaker 3: make the bulk of our money social media, and we're
- 5:43Speaker 3: also on the radio, so we rely on our social
- 5:46Speaker 3: media to dictate a lot of the things that we're
- 5:49Speaker 3: doing on radio and here. So if the internet legs, oh,
- 5:54Speaker 3: i'm a i'm a screwed those good question, cause I
- 5:57Speaker 3: got yourself was last night Because I hate.
- 5:59Speaker 4: When people put the negative energy and whatever they problems
- 6:01Speaker 4: they got and they try to put it on you,
- 6:03Speaker 4: and I'm.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Like, this ain't the time to talk about this.
- 6:05Speaker 3: She also smokes hookah and if they take too long,
- 6:07Speaker 3: he gets really aggy.
- 6:08Speaker 4: Oh, you ain't have to tell the world, tell the
- 6:13Speaker 4: word that you're remembering.
- 6:16Speaker 1: I'm doing business with somebody who's actually not in to
- 6:20Speaker 1: make the business go smooth. He's in it to disrupt
- 6:23Speaker 1: the business, right and to confuse things. But the devil
- 6:27Speaker 1: is a lie. So y'all made me remember the last
- 6:29Speaker 1: time I got pissed off was that somebody I'm doing
- 6:32Speaker 1: business with, Okay, and it's not going smooth. You know,
- 6:35Speaker 1: people like I could see y'all got camaraderie. I could tell,
- 6:39Speaker 1: I could tell, I could feel the vibes.
- 6:41Speaker 4: You know what I mean.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Y'all got a goal, y'all trying to accomplish that's the focus.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Y'all doing it together. But when you in with business
- 6:48Speaker 1: with somebody that's trying to disrupt the business for no
- 6:51Speaker 1: reason for attention or whatever, that aggravates you said that.
- 6:55Speaker 1: I'm like, it's related to business, not for sure. Okay,
- 6:58Speaker 1: well listen and curse. Oh that's good. You know what
- 7:01Speaker 1: I mean. We're still pussing phrase bait me. I'm cussing,
- 7:06Speaker 1: don't you.
- 7:09Speaker 5: Know?
- 7:09Speaker 1: Whatever? Whatever y'all gotta do.
