- 0:03Speaker 1: In our last mini-adventure, Olivia found a flyer for a
- 0:06Speaker 1: scavenger hunt in her library book. It was from 1986,
- 0:11Speaker 1: 40 years ago. The clues wouldn't still be there for
- 0:16Speaker 1: the lead-on scavenger hunt, would they? They found a clue
- 0:20Speaker 1: in the hospital, but this must be the end of
- 0:22Speaker 1: the adventure, right? Well, let's join Olivia and Addison for
- 0:26Speaker 1: part two in our series Lead On for today's episode
- 0:31Speaker 1: called Beyond the Curtain.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Okay, let's look at the clue from the hospital one
- 0:36Speaker 2: more time.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Look beyond the platform where student voices are raised.
- 0:42Speaker 2: I mean, it has to be.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Yeah, it has to be the school.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Student voices. That's the school, definitely. But beyond the platform.
- 0:51Speaker 2: What's that?
- 0:52Speaker 3: A platform where student voices are raised. Could it be
- 0:57Speaker 3: the PA system?
- 0:58Speaker 2: Where announcements are made? That raises voices.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Maybe.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Or.
- 1:03Speaker 3: What else?
- 1:05Speaker 2: Voices are raised. Could that mean raised higher? Maybe the
- 1:09Speaker 2: gym stage?
- 1:11Speaker 3: Let's find out. Lead on, Addison.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Hey, Olivia.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I thought you had the day off. You were going
- 1:22Speaker 2: to read a book and relax. Hi, Addison. Hi, Miss Holt.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Uh, Joyce. Look at this, Joyce. I found it in
- 1:30Speaker 3: my book.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Ah, retro.
- 1:32Speaker 2: It's a scavenger hunt from the 80s. Cute. We found
- 1:36Speaker 2: one of the clues. It was still at the hospital.
- 1:39Speaker 2: No way.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:41Speaker 3: And look at this clue.
- 1:42Speaker 2: A clue?
- 1:43Speaker 4: How fun.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Harold, you're supposed to be cleaning DS's office.
- 1:47Speaker 4: Oh, I'm done. Punishment complete.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Let me see. Oh, yeah. Looks like you did a
- 1:54Speaker 2: good job.
- 1:54Speaker 4: Thanks. Now, what's the clue?
- 1:57Speaker 2: Look beyond the platform where student voices are raised.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Maybe the PA system?
- 2:02Speaker 2: Could be. It's right over here.
- 2:04Speaker 4: Discovery Mountain students, classes are canceled.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Harold! Students, classes are not canceled.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Please disregard that last message. Harold?
- 2:16Speaker 2: Harold?
- 2:17Speaker 3: What?
- 2:18Speaker 4: I can't resist the fun of the new PA system. New?
- 2:21Speaker 3: Right, we put this in last year. So, this wasn't
- 2:25Speaker 3: here in 1986. No, that's true.
- 2:28Speaker 2: So much for that.
- 2:30Speaker 4: Raised. Hey, what about the stage in the gym?
- 2:33Speaker 2: That's what I thought it might be.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Come on, let's go.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Well, I have to get back to class, but Harold,
- 2:39Speaker 3: don't take too long.
- 2:40Speaker 4: I won't.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Beyond.
- 2:48Speaker 3: The curtain is at the sides of the stage. That's beyond,
- 2:51Speaker 3: sort of.
- 2:52Speaker 4: These curtains are old.
- 2:54Speaker 2: No, there's nowhere to hide a note anywhere.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Sewn into the hem, maybe?
- 2:58Speaker 2: Mrs.
- 2:59Speaker 4: Olsen, do you have scissors?
- 3:00Speaker 3: No, no, Harold, we're not cutting open the curtain hem.
- 3:04Speaker 3: I don't think the creators of the scavenger hunt would
- 3:05Speaker 3: have gone to such great lengths.
- 3:07Speaker 2: True. The hospital clue was taped onto the back of
- 3:10Speaker 2: a plaque. Yes.
- 3:11Speaker 3: So where could a clue be taped and not discovered
- 3:15Speaker 3: for 40 years?
- 3:16Speaker 4: Maybe in the lights above us?
- 3:18Speaker 2: Above is beyond.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Let's see if I can reach... Ah, nope.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Wait, Harold, when you jumped, the whole stage moved.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just empty underneath. Exactly.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Empty except for the chair storage below the stage.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Below is beyond. Not all clues are front stage. Some
- 3:38Speaker 4: are behind the scenes.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Harold, you might be onto something. Roll out the chair rack, carefully.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Oh man, it's dusty in here. I don't think anyone
- 3:53Speaker 2: has vacuumed under here in more than 40 years.
- 3:58Speaker 4: But the metal chair rack rolls in and out. It
- 4:00Speaker 4: can't be on that. We use that every week.
- 4:02Speaker 2: True.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Maybe it's taped to the bottom of the stage.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Let's see if I can look.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Here, use my phone light.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Thanks. Nope, I don't see anything taped to the bottom
- 4:15Speaker 4: of the stage. It really is dusty in here, though.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Harold, are you able to step over the metal rack
- 4:21Speaker 3: and get to the very back?
- 4:23Speaker 4: I can try.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Yep.
- 4:26Speaker 2: What do you see?
- 4:29Speaker 4: Dust bunnies and, ew, an old band-aid. Ew.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Harold, maybe you better get out of there.
- 4:36Speaker 4: There's a gum wrapper and, hey, a piece of paper.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Oh, grab it. Carefully.
- 4:43Speaker 4: It's... I'll show you.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Watch your step.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Look.
- 4:50Speaker 3: First dust it off. It might need to be decontaminated.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Let's see. Is it a clue?
- 4:57Speaker 3: Well, what do you know? It is a clue.
- 4:59Speaker 4: And it has some old tape at the top.
- 5:01Speaker 3: They must have taped it to the bottom of the stage,
- 5:03Speaker 3: just like we guessed, and it dried up and fell down.
- 5:06Speaker 4: What's the clue?
- 5:07Speaker 2: Okay, here it is. Look where Discovery Business is noticed
- 5:11Speaker 2: and posted.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Discovery Business? Like, Discovery Mountain?
- 5:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so. Where does the town business happen?
- 5:20Speaker 4: Come on, let's go to- Harold Peabody?
- 5:22Speaker 2: That's enough treasure hunting. Come on back to class now.
- 5:26Speaker 4: Yes, Miss Holt. Hey, I hope you guys find the clue.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Us too. Thanks for your help, Harold.
- 5:33Speaker 4: Keep your eyes open and remember to look past the
- 5:35Speaker 4: stage lights for God's plans.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Another clue. The 40-year-old scavenger hunt is becoming a modern
- 5:44Speaker 1: day one too. Where do you think that Olivia and
- 5:47Speaker 1: Addison should look next? I hope that they take Harold's
- 5:50Speaker 1: advice with them. There's a verse in the book of Proverbs.
- 5:54Speaker 1: It's part of the wisdom of King Solomon. And it
- 5:57Speaker 1: sounds a lot like Harold's advice. It says, it is
- 6:01Speaker 1: the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the
- 6:04Speaker 1: glory of kings is to search out a matter. That's
- 6:07Speaker 1: Proverbs 25 in verse 2. Let's join Olivia and Addison
- 6:11Speaker 1: next time for the next part of their adventure. I'm
- 6:16Speaker 1: Miss Jean, and you've been listening to a mini-adventure in
