- 1:30Speaker 2: to Juicy Scoop. I have Hannah Berner, summer house star
- 1:37Speaker 2: and not anymore.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Has been.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Comedian, podcaster. You're on my show. We did a virtual
- 1:44Speaker 2: like a couple years ago.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Depressing.
- 1:46Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:47Speaker 2: And now you're here in person in a cute outfit.
- 1:50Speaker 2: I tried.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Cute blue. I wore a tennis skirt for you. And
- 1:54Speaker 3: I'm obsessed with it. We'll join like a tennis league together.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:58Speaker 5: I'm excited.
- 1:58Speaker 3: I just want to let you know.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Whenever I'm in my dark times, I will just look
- 2:03Speaker 3: at your Ramona Singer impression and it reminds me that
- 2:05Speaker 3: there's good in the world. So I want to thank
- 2:07Speaker 3: you for that.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 2:09Speaker 2: You know what? You know what? I really kind of
- 2:10Speaker 2: appreciate that because you're like a little bit younger than
- 2:12Speaker 2: I am.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Okay?
- 2:13Speaker 2: A lot of people think Avery's my sister when we
- 2:15Speaker 2: go out and have a good time. But you know what?
- 2:17Speaker 2: It's young girls like you that constantly approach me and
- 2:19Speaker 2: they go, you know what, Ramona? How can I be
- 2:21Speaker 2: like you? How can I be confident?
- 2:23Speaker 3: How can I.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Have a nice figure?
- 2:25Speaker 3: Do you have a skincare line?
- 2:25Speaker 2: How can I still look really good? Well, it's called Ageless.
- 2:28Speaker 2: It's my anti-aging skin cream. And you know what?
- 2:31Speaker 1: You know what?
- 2:31Speaker 2: It's like a lot of people, you know, a lot
- 2:33Speaker 2: of people like to do nips and tucks, and I'm
- 2:34Speaker 2: not against it. But you know what? It's about having
- 2:37Speaker 2: sunscreen on. It's about, you know, eating healthy. I like
- 2:40Speaker 2: a lot of salmon.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Did you get your brows done?
- 2:41Speaker 5: You know what?
- 2:42Speaker 2: I got the brows because, you know, Avery goes, Mom,
- 2:44Speaker 2: you know, Mom, it's like a thicker brow. I did
- 2:46Speaker 2: not realize, just like I didn't realize I wasn't supposed
- 2:48Speaker 2: to show, you know, Teresa's invitation until after the wedding.
- 2:54Speaker 2: You're not supposed to show your eyebrows until the dye
- 2:57Speaker 2: of the tattooing threading, you know, like settles a little.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I thought they looked really great. I thought my eyes
- 3:04Speaker 2: really popped.
- 3:05Speaker 3: I was like, we could do this for the next
- 3:07Speaker 3: hour and I'm into it. I just do a Luann
- 3:10Speaker 3: where I just go, hello, darling.
- 3:12Speaker 2: So you, I have, I just- My bestie. I just
- 3:16Speaker 2: talked to Luann. I'm going to be at Luann's show Thursday.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Are you going Thursday?
- 3:19Speaker 3: I have to make, say hi.
- 3:21Speaker 2: And then- Yes, and so you guys are playing tennis.
- 3:26Speaker 3: I mean, I'm obsessed with her.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I mean, you really, like, wiggled your way in.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Girl, I don't know how, I think, I mean, she
- 3:33Speaker 3: obviously has great taste in people. Yes, she likes me too.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Lou took, like, kind of a, she's Lou to me now.
- 3:40Speaker 3: She took a liking to me. During the pandemic, we just,
- 3:43Speaker 3: we ate dinner because she's in SAG and I was
- 3:45Speaker 3: in Shelter Island.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Yes.
- 3:46Speaker 3: And I was just amazed by, like, all the things
- 3:49Speaker 3: she survived through. just how glamorous she is. She has
- 3:54Speaker 3: a great sense of humor. And then we just occasionally
- 3:57Speaker 3: hang out. I love it.
- 3:58Speaker 2: I'm a fan.
- 3:59Speaker 3: I'm just a fan.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Speaking of tennis, do you prefer doubles or singles? Because
- 4:05Speaker 2: you're a pretty good.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Tennis player, right? Yeah, great question. I think doubles is
- 4:08Speaker 3: so fun for socializing, but singles is a better workout.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:13Speaker 3: This is a sports pod now.
- 4:15Speaker 2: And how do you feel about pickleball?
- 4:17Speaker 3: Okay, I haven't done it, but I heard it's like,
- 4:20Speaker 3: Ping pong, but more fun.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 4:22Speaker 3: I'm afraid I'll get addicted to it, and then I'll
- 4:25Speaker 3: be a retired old man just playing ping pong every day.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Right, it's so much easier.
- 4:27Speaker 3: I heard it's so fun.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Let's talk about your wedding. So, you found someone. Congrats.
- 4:35Speaker 2: And he is also a comic.
- 4:39Speaker 3: No, I swore. Because I've dated comics before, and I
- 4:42Speaker 3: was like, never again! And I'm like, how did you
- 4:44Speaker 3: guys meet? He DM'd me during the pandemic.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:48Speaker 3: He... I saw him at the cellar like five years ago.
- 4:52Speaker 3: I thought he was hot, but he talked about living
- 4:54Speaker 3: in Dublin. So I'm like, I guess.
- 4:55Speaker 2: So is he raised? Does he have an Irish accent?
- 4:58Speaker 3: He has the weirdest kind of. He was raised in Queens.
- 5:01Speaker 3: And at 14, he got kicked out because he was
- 5:03Speaker 3: being naughty for drinking. And they put him in a
- 5:05Speaker 3: school in Ireland, which is like the World Series of drinking.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Oh, so he grew up here.
- 5:09Speaker 3: He's a Queens guy.
- 5:11Speaker 2: But then got sent to a boarding school in Ireland.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Because his family is like of Irish descent. He had
- 5:15Speaker 3: family there. And then he stayed there and created a.
- 5:18Speaker 3: comedy career there like yeah and it's kind of a
- 5:22Speaker 3: niche did he go to college he went to college
- 5:25Speaker 3: there he's friends with like Killian Murphy they both were
- 5:27Speaker 3: in the drama school together like he was just into
- 5:31Speaker 3: the drama and comedy of Ireland and but he came
- 5:35Speaker 3: back because of the pandemic he actually saw me with
- 5:38Speaker 3: Luann in Shelter Island I posted a photo so it's
- 5:40Speaker 3: because of Luann and he just was like hey do
- 5:42Speaker 3: you want to get coffee in Sag Harbor yeah I
- 5:45Speaker 3: said yes and we had a lot of mutual friends
- 5:47Speaker 3: and I'm, I love an older man now.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Now, how old is he?
- 5:51Speaker 3: He's 46. I'm 30.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:53Speaker 3: And I feel like I was, he was interesting. He
- 5:56Speaker 3: speaks multiple languages. He's, he's at a different point in
- 5:59Speaker 3: his career. So I didn't feel like a weird competitiveness.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Yeah. And he really, he.
- 6:06Speaker 3: He reminded me of like family. I felt like home
- 6:08Speaker 3: with him. So I'm being so corny right now. And
- 6:11Speaker 3: then we survived me in the house calling him every
- 6:13Speaker 3: night being like, I just fought with 18 people. There's
- 6:16Speaker 3: always seven in the house.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Let's talk about your last season. Your last season in
- 6:21Speaker 2: Summer House. So you're dating this guy, but then this
- 6:24Speaker 2: other guy that you had a thing with the previous summer, Luke,
- 6:29Speaker 2: he shows up. And so, because I think that's always
- 6:33Speaker 2: so confusing. People were really confused. I'm guessing that you
- 6:37Speaker 2: and your now husband were not As serious.
- 6:40Speaker 3: I'd actually only hung out with Des four times before
- 6:43Speaker 3: going in.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Had you boned?
- 6:46Speaker 3: Yes, second date.
- 6:47Speaker 2: But you had never boned Luke?
- 6:50Speaker 3: No, that was just emotional damage.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Okay.
- 6:52Speaker 3: That was just deep emotional wounds.
- 6:54Speaker 2: And what was the deal? Why wouldn't Luke bone you?
- 6:56Speaker 3: Well, that's so funny. I mean, we've done blowjobs. He's
- 7:01Speaker 3: gone down to me. We did everything else. I think
- 7:03Speaker 3: it was one of those reality TV things where, like,
- 7:06Speaker 3: If things went sour, he could be like, well, we
- 7:08Speaker 3: didn't bone. Oh, really? Because we were very sexual. We'd
- 7:13Speaker 3: hang out at night.
- 7:15Speaker 2: But he was the holdout, right?
- 7:16Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 7:17Speaker 3: He was the one playing hard to get. And I
- 7:18Speaker 3: was like, I want to fuck a hot model. And
- 7:20Speaker 3: then when you guys do.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Get intimate in the summer house, you know, I.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Listen, you know, no flattery to you, but honestly, I
- 7:28Speaker 2: stopped watching it. I didn't watch it this season, but
- 7:31Speaker 2: I have questions for you. Because I was like, oh,
- 7:33Speaker 2: I don't really know who these people are anymore, and
- 7:35Speaker 2: Hannah's gone. Like, I liked Hannah, and I'm like... So
- 7:37Speaker 2: I'm like, but I still like people talked about it
- 7:40Speaker 2: in my group and stuff. So I still like know
- 7:41Speaker 2: all the players.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Yes.
- 7:43Speaker 2: But I don't know the specific. I'm not going to
- 7:44Speaker 2: get super specific with it. I would think, listen, when
- 7:48Speaker 2: someone stops being my friend, I mute them. So I
- 7:50Speaker 2: can't imagine watching a reality show that I was a
- 7:53Speaker 2: big part of and then I'm not on it. I
- 7:56Speaker 2: would not be torturing myself. I don't think that's a
- 7:58Speaker 2: healthy thing to do.
- 7:58Speaker 3: I do have to say like being excluded from a
- 8:01Speaker 3: friend group is possibly one of the more painful things
- 8:03Speaker 3: you can go through in life. And for it to be, like,
- 8:06Speaker 3: on a national scale, it was an ego death, let's
- 8:10Speaker 3: just say. But I also do think, like, when people
- 8:13Speaker 3: are meant to be your friends, like, you can get
- 8:14Speaker 3: over certain stuff.
- 8:15Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Yeah. So, okay, so now aren't there– there's cameras in
- 8:21Speaker 2: every room.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Yeah. Okay.
- 8:23Speaker 2: So how does that work with changing and if you
- 8:25Speaker 2: don't want, like, your full– Screwing being featured. Do you
- 8:29Speaker 2: throw a towel over it? Do you unplug it?
- 8:32Speaker 3: So what you do is you go in the bathroom
- 8:35Speaker 3: and you put the water on. Because they'll get the
- 8:37Speaker 3: sounds anywhere. Paige and I, like, the first time we filmed,
- 8:40Speaker 3: we're whispering in bed. And then we realized there's mics
- 8:42Speaker 3: behind the beds. Everything is bugged. So unless you want
- 8:46Speaker 3: to have weird, like, quiet sex, like serial killer sex. Actually,
- 8:51Speaker 3: I don't know what sound serial killer makes. Anyway, so
- 8:55Speaker 3: we go in the bathroom and you turn it on.
- 8:58Speaker 3: Sometimes they'll let you put like a.
- 9:00Speaker 2: So wait, by just turning on like a sink water,
- 9:03Speaker 2: that'll screw up the whole sound system.
- 9:05Speaker 3: They'll still get some stuff, but like the audio won't
- 9:08Speaker 3: be as clear if you're like have the shower on.
- 9:12Speaker 3: And you can kind of like hold it.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Well, it's a good thing there's not a drought in
- 9:15Speaker 2: the Hamptons. If you did that in L.A.
- 9:18Speaker 3: So much water privilege in the Hamptons.
- 9:21Speaker 2: I don't really know that people would agree with that.
- 9:23Speaker 3: You just look down upon me. You just turn it on.
- 9:25Speaker 2: I've just been born and raised. And we're always either
- 9:28Speaker 2: have a drought or getting over a drought or a
- 9:30Speaker 2: drought is coming or there wasn't a drought and now
- 9:34Speaker 2: we have floods.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Every time we poop, you got to put the shower on.
- 9:38Speaker 3: It's actually pretty harmful. People should look into that. Um, okay.
- 9:42Speaker 2: So, okay. So you have to do that now. What
- 9:44Speaker 2: about the filming? Cause I feel like I have seen like,
- 9:47Speaker 2: like insertion videos with like covers over.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Once they've told me like, you know, you could put a, um,
- 9:53Speaker 3: a t-shirt over the camera. We'll let you guys, I
- 9:57Speaker 3: also think like you get so comfortable with production. Like
- 9:59Speaker 3: they're like family that you start to care less I
- 10:03Speaker 3: also know I the only like real sexual scene I
- 10:07Speaker 3: had in Summer House was when like Luke went down
- 10:10Speaker 3: on me when I was like drunk but I thought
- 10:12Speaker 3: it was quite empowering for women I thought everything's about
- 10:15Speaker 3: male pleasure I want to be like I got fucked
- 10:17Speaker 3: like with this tongue and I thought and I didn't
- 10:20Speaker 3: go down on him and I thought it was a
- 10:21Speaker 3: feminist movement.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Well yeah first there was Gloria Steinem and now there's
- 10:27Speaker 2: you you know what things have changed you know I
- 10:30Speaker 2: think like we have.
- 10:31Speaker 3: To stop being so like like grossed out by women
- 10:36Speaker 3: having sexual pleasure.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Now, do your parents watch that? Now, your dad has passed, right? No. Oh,
- 10:42Speaker 2: your dad has not passed.
- 10:43Speaker 3: I don't think he is.
- 10:44Speaker 2: I think I thought your dad passed because you got
- 10:46Speaker 2: so mad about your dad when Kyle brought up your dad.
- 10:50Speaker 3: That's why I thought he did. No, my dad and I,
- 10:52Speaker 3: he's actually like my best friend. I just... I just
- 10:54Speaker 3: was talking him over.
- 10:56Speaker 2: What was that fight about then? I think I mixed
- 11:00Speaker 2: it up with Lala Kent being so upset about anyone
- 11:03Speaker 2: bringing up her dad because he passed. We're all the same.
- 11:08Speaker 3: I mix up my storylines. I was like, don't talk
- 11:10Speaker 3: about my family. I'm in the Jersey Housewives. I'm like, cut.
- 11:14Speaker 3: That fight was an hour-long thing that just looked like
- 11:19Speaker 3: out of nowhere I got pissed off. It made absolutely
- 11:22Speaker 3: no sense.
- 11:22Speaker 2: That fight. Yeah, so you agree.
- 11:26Speaker 3: No, it made no sense.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Unless your dad had died. I wish people saw.
- 11:30Speaker 3: What actually the fight was about, but that was how
- 11:33Speaker 3: it was decided to be told.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Okay, so are your parents still married? Yes. And did
- 11:38Speaker 2: they watch you having to go down on you? And
- 11:42Speaker 2: were they like, our daughter's so empowered?
- 11:44Speaker 3: That's a great question. I think my dad got kind
- 11:47Speaker 3: of into the season. At first he'd be like, I
- 11:49Speaker 3: don't care. Then he'd be like, well, what's going to
- 11:50Speaker 3: happen with Lindsay and Carl? He got into it. And
- 11:53Speaker 3: then my mom would be like, okay, earmuffs, because I'd
- 11:56Speaker 3: be doing something inappropriate. That's the thing. I don't know
- 11:59Speaker 3: about you and your kids, but they're my parents. Like,
- 12:02Speaker 3: I get it from something. My dad is a silly,
- 12:04Speaker 3: goofy guy. And he just rolls his eyes. And I
- 12:08Speaker 3: think ultimately they just want me to be happy. And
- 12:11Speaker 3: they like that I found a career that I'm enjoying
- 12:14Speaker 3: and feeling like myself. Because I used to be a
- 12:16Speaker 3: tennis player and I cried a lot when I lost.
- 12:18Speaker 3: So I think they're just happy that I'm enjoying myself.
- 12:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:22Speaker 3: There's worse things I could be doing than fucking on TV.
- 12:25Speaker 2: But I mean, I think I think it's one of
- 12:28Speaker 2: those things like rip the bandaid off. Like I think
- 12:30Speaker 2: for parents, once they've accepted like, hey, my kid is
- 12:34Speaker 2: of a certain age and they are sexually active. Yeah.
- 12:36Speaker 2: And or my kid is on a reality show. And OK,
- 12:39Speaker 2: I've seen, you know, then they're just like, all right,
- 12:42Speaker 2: like this is what. I have to do it. I
- 12:44Speaker 2: might as well just enjoy it and be there or whatever.
- 12:46Speaker 2: I don't know of anybody that said like their parents
- 12:48Speaker 2: disowned them for being on a reality show. Yeah.
- 12:51Speaker 3: And my parents, I grew up like in Brooklyn, New York.
- 12:53Speaker 3: We're pretty like open family. We're not very religious. So
- 12:57Speaker 3: they were just kind of, they just kind of roll
- 12:58Speaker 3: their eyes and laugh. My mom listens to every podcast
- 13:00Speaker 3: I'm on.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:01Speaker 3: And I talk about everything and she's kind of my
- 13:04Speaker 3: best friend. Yeah. They're like in their fifties and they're
- 13:07Speaker 3: kind of my best friends and they were, they're the
- 13:09Speaker 3: reason I think I was able to even survive reality
- 13:11Speaker 3: TV because I They were just really there for me
- 13:13Speaker 3: throughout all the ups and downs. Oh, my God.
- 13:15Speaker 5: Yes.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Am I a politician?
- 13:17Speaker 2: So let's– OK. So– OK. Let's go back to asking
- 13:21Speaker 2: some questions about the wedding and then I'm going to– OK. Now,
- 13:24Speaker 2: I love me some Mercedes and I was dying hilarious.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Her husband talking about she drank a little too much
- 13:32Speaker 2: before getting ready for the wedding. What time was your
- 13:34Speaker 2: wedding at? When did everyone have to be there?
- 13:36Speaker 3: 4.30.
- 13:36Speaker 1: 4.30.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Were you aware of– I became aware of Mercedes when
- 13:44Speaker 3: during the vows, she yelled like she was at a
- 13:48Speaker 3: baseball game, just like, woo! And we had to joke,
- 13:51Speaker 3: and I was just like, does anyone know who invited
- 13:54Speaker 3: that person? And everyone started laughing. Wait, hold on.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Okay, so you're doing the vows.
- 13:57Speaker 3: The crowd was rowdy, though. We had a very funny judge.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Des and I were making side comments. It almost turned
- 14:04Speaker 3: into a little stand-up-y. And Mercedes was... She would have
- 14:08Speaker 3: been removed from the comedy club. She was hot.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Okay. All right.
- 14:11Speaker 3: She was, she was heckling me. She heckles me at
- 14:14Speaker 3: my wedding.
- 14:15Speaker 2: You had a heckler.
- 14:16Speaker 3: But she was kind. She was a kind heckler.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Did you ever see her wedding on a Shaw's?
- 14:21Speaker 3: It was by maybe the most incredible wedding I've ever seen.
- 14:24Speaker 2: It was the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life. Yeah.
- 14:28Speaker 2: So maybe that's what she felt like. It was such
- 14:30Speaker 2: a hit. But yours wasn't being filmed for a show.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Apparently she also busted her ass. She has what? She
- 14:35Speaker 3: fell also apparently.
- 14:37Speaker 2: At your wedding.
- 14:38Speaker 3: She basically made my wedding about her by falling. And
- 14:40Speaker 3: everyone was like, oh my God, Mercedes, are you okay?
- 14:42Speaker 3: She fell in the sand because she was wearing like
- 14:44Speaker 3: stilettos or who knows what she was wearing. Yeah. And
- 14:46Speaker 3: then apparently she wasn't sure what to wear because I
- 14:48Speaker 3: said like beach formal. So she's like, I'm just going
- 14:50Speaker 3: to go with golden glitter. She looks amazing.
- 14:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Funny thing about us is her husband is also just
- 14:57Speaker 3: a guy from Queens. So him and Des get along
- 15:00Speaker 3: cause they're just these simple dudes from Queens.
- 15:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:02Speaker 3: We married the same guy. And I do have to
- 15:04Speaker 3: say about Mercedes, some people were like, how do you
- 15:07Speaker 3: even know her? I'm the kind of person that if
- 15:09Speaker 3: someone does something kind, like I never forget. And during
- 15:12Speaker 3: some of my reality TV drama, she sent me a
- 15:15Speaker 3: message when I felt like so alone and scared. And
- 15:18Speaker 3: she sent me a message that really like only from
- 15:20Speaker 3: someone who really understands the world could send.
- 15:22Speaker 5: Right.
- 15:23Speaker 3: And it was so kind and so positive. And I've,
- 15:26Speaker 3: And she didn't need to send it to me, and
- 15:28Speaker 3: I really needed it. And I'm like, that's my girl
- 15:30Speaker 3: for life, Mercedes.
- 15:32Speaker 2: So it's kind of interesting because, yeah, she would know
- 15:34Speaker 2: because Shaw's, Summer House, Southern Charm, Vanderpump, of the Bravo
- 15:40Speaker 2: world are similar, like, you know, guys and girls, started
- 15:44Speaker 2: at a certain age, 30, whatever.
- 15:46Speaker 3: And she's a veteran icon.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, so... Yeah, you would know how those
- 15:51Speaker 2: relationships work. It's different than just the housewives.
- 15:53Speaker 3: I would always joke.
- 15:54Speaker 2: And I think that's why housewives of other franchises, too,
- 15:56Speaker 2: have become close. For that same reason. Because it's like,
- 15:59Speaker 2: you're not on the same show, so there isn't all
- 16:01Speaker 2: those elements of competition and history. No. But you have
- 16:04Speaker 2: been to the same war.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like going to someone who's been to your college.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Yes.
- 16:09Speaker 3: And you weren't in the same friend group, but you're like, oh,
- 16:11Speaker 3: you get the same bars and we know the same people.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:14Speaker 3: And I have that kind of with Sheena, too, who
- 16:16Speaker 3: has always been cool and supportive of me. And she's
- 16:20Speaker 3: just a fun time.
- 16:21Speaker 2: So you had Sheena come, and then here you guys are. Cute.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Really cute.
- 16:26Speaker 3: He's good cheekbones, that man. Yes.
- 16:28Speaker 2: And so, okay.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Your notes are intimidating me. I feel like I'm in
- 16:33Speaker 3: a doctor's appointment. You're going to diagnose me with something.
- 16:37Speaker 3: She's like, you're dying. Yeah, that doesn't look good.
- 16:41Speaker 2: All right. So you did, when we talked last time,
- 16:43Speaker 2: you told me kind of how you How you got
- 16:46Speaker 2: discovered doing like you were writing for what?
- 16:49Speaker 3: Betches? Oh, yeah. I was doing short comedy videos and
- 16:51Speaker 3: tweets and memes. Very like online humor.
- 16:54Speaker 2: And so then you got approached by the Summer House.
- 16:57Speaker 2: You did how many seasons of that? Three. And so
- 17:00Speaker 2: then what? Okay. So now you're doing the last season.
- 17:04Speaker 2: You're filming it. Luke is going down on you but
- 17:07Speaker 2: holding out the D. You're talking to Des.
- 17:10Speaker 3: That was season two when he went down on me.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah. And then season three, no, nothing?
- 17:15Speaker 3: So the timeline is COVID hit around March when Luke
- 17:21Speaker 3: and I were still hanging out. It was just a
- 17:24Speaker 3: weird relationship of just talking on... He called me on
- 17:27Speaker 3: the phone three times a day. It was a very
- 17:30Speaker 3: emotional thing where you just feel like, okay, I'm emotionally
- 17:34Speaker 3: fulfilling each other's needs in some way. And we liked
- 17:36Speaker 3: each other, even if it was just two people going
- 17:39Speaker 3: through a similar thing.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Right.
- 17:41Speaker 3: And then... he brought a girl in and I had
- 17:44Speaker 3: just met Des and very quickly I saw like, Oh,
- 17:48Speaker 3: this guy isn't like going to be like my trustworthy
- 17:51Speaker 3: confidant in the house. And after like a week of
- 17:55Speaker 3: navigating that, we really had a fun rest of the summer.
- 17:58Speaker 3: And I just got to know that I called him
- 17:59Speaker 3: every night, talked to him for like three hours at
- 18:01Speaker 3: night and then finally invited him like five weeks in.
- 18:05Speaker 3: So I really kind of learned about the guy throughout
- 18:09Speaker 3: this experience. And I was a mess. I do have
- 18:11Speaker 3: to say, when they say try to be a cool
- 18:13Speaker 3: girl in the beginning, it does show him you're ugly,
- 18:16Speaker 3: like get in a fight early on and see if
- 18:18Speaker 3: he can hang. Cause I survived that house with him.
- 18:21Speaker 3: I feel like I could survive anything. Right.
- 18:23Speaker 2: And so, um, okay. So what happened with, um, so like,
- 18:30Speaker 2: how did you find out that they weren't asking you back?
- 18:32Speaker 2: Was it first that you didn't get invited to winter house? Yeah. Okay.
- 18:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 18:36Speaker 3: I didn't get invited to winter house and I.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Was, and did you know winter house was happening?
- 18:41Speaker 3: No one had told me.
- 18:42Speaker 2: And so what happened?
- 18:43Speaker 3: Paige was like, by the way, they're doing White House.
- 18:48Speaker 2: How did she say it? Did she know you weren't included?
- 18:51Speaker 3: I think it was that Paige was in a weird
- 18:54Speaker 3: place because she's my best friend, but also she wants
- 18:57Speaker 3: a job. And it's hard to know what you're putting
- 19:00Speaker 3: on the chopping block. She's better at the politics, I think,
- 19:04Speaker 3: than me. And yeah, they were doing it, and I
- 19:07Speaker 3: was kind of like, Okay, maybe it's because I was
- 19:10Speaker 3: dating Des, I kind of assumed. Right.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Because I want the single people and the hookups. Because
- 19:14Speaker 2: Winter House is like half a summer house, half of
- 19:17Speaker 2: Southern Charm mixed with a couple other ingredients. Yeah, and they're.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Drinking a lot and just having a good party. But yeah,
- 19:24Speaker 3: I mean, it obviously hurts your ego a little bit
- 19:26Speaker 3: because you put so much into the show.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:29Speaker 3: And I had.
- 19:30Speaker 2: And then after Winterhouse, were you like, well, at least
- 19:33Speaker 2: they'll still call me for Summerhouse? Or did you feel like, hmm,
- 19:35Speaker 2: chances are I'm done?
- 19:36Speaker 3: You know what was happening during that time? I was
- 19:38Speaker 3: on a talk show. I was on Chat Room. Oh,
- 19:41Speaker 3: that's right. God, I forgot about that.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Chat Room was you, Giselle.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Portia, and Kate Chastain.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Oh, what happened? to that?
- 19:51Speaker 3: After COVID, they kind of scratched it.
- 19:54Speaker 2: We're like, we don't need to do this sad Zoom
- 19:55Speaker 2: thing anymore.
- 19:56Speaker 3: I was filming it on my mom's microwave. I mean,
- 19:59Speaker 3: it was so much fun. It was so much fucking fun.
- 20:01Speaker 3: But yeah, I was busy doing that. And I don't
- 20:03Speaker 3: know if me being on the talk show affected it.
- 20:07Speaker 3: people's like perceptions of me or whatever but like i
- 20:10Speaker 3: always loved filming summer house yeah but i was like
- 20:12Speaker 3: busy with chat room at the time until they ended
- 20:15Speaker 3: it in i guess may like we did that whole

- 21:00Speaker 5: I'm Darman, and this is What Happens Next. Each week
- 21:03Speaker 5: on the show, I sit down with extraordinary people who
- 21:06Speaker 5: have faced tremendous setbacks, and yet somehow have found a
- 21:10Speaker 5: way to turn them into their greatest strengths.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Life is one long lesson of chaos.
- 21:16Speaker 1: I'm heading to the Emmys, and I have police complaints
- 21:19Speaker 1: filed against me.
- 21:19Speaker 2: When your free will was about to be taken from you,
- 21:22Speaker 2: what would you do if it was given back?
- 21:24Speaker 5: Where did that need come from where you thought that
- 21:27Speaker 5: you had to succeed in order to feel loved?
- 21:29Speaker 2: He said, I have a work dad.
- 21:31Speaker 5: I need a home dad.
- 21:32Speaker 2: What happens next? When I came in, he started crying.
- 21:34Speaker 5: Everybody in life encounters hardships. What defines them is not
- 21:39Speaker 5: those hard moments that they go through. It's about what
- 21:42Speaker 5: happens next.
- 21:43Speaker 2: I decided to risk it all. I realized how valuable
- 21:45Speaker 2: every day was. You're worth the work.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Listen, Dara, I'm not going to pull punches.
- 21:49Speaker 2: You can use your voice even if it shakes.
- 21:51Speaker 5: The stories are different, but the impact is the same.
- 21:55Speaker 5: Only one question matters. What happens next?
- 22:06Speaker 2: Yeah. But I mean, don't you think that reality shows
- 22:10Speaker 2: and all the, especially Bravo, it's like everyone's replaceable. Oh,
- 22:17Speaker 2: for sure.
- 22:17Speaker 3: I mean, just everybody is.
- 22:19Speaker 2: And I think it's a hard thing to accept because
- 22:21Speaker 2: you're like, oh my God, you know, I got to
- 22:24Speaker 2: walk down the street and people said they were my favorite.
- 22:26Speaker 2: And I think the fans are fucking two-faced too. You know,
- 22:29Speaker 2: they'll say they love you, then they'll say they won't.
- 22:31Speaker 2: They'll go up to you and say you're the greatest one.
- 22:33Speaker 3: And then You know, I do think that one producer
- 22:38Speaker 3: told me this and it was very wise. He's like
- 22:40Speaker 3: the people for fans, like the people you love aren't
- 22:43Speaker 3: as great as you think they are. And the people
- 22:44Speaker 3: you hate aren't as bad as you think they are.
- 22:45Speaker 5: Right.
- 22:46Speaker 3: And reality TV are so replaceable because they really do
- 22:48Speaker 3: cast you in a way. I remember talking to Teresa
- 22:51Speaker 3: Giudice's lawyer before I started. He goes, OK, think about
- 22:54Speaker 3: what you want to be. Do you want to be
- 22:55Speaker 3: the hot one, the hot mess one, the truth teller,
- 22:58Speaker 3: the like or, you know, the drama one? Because you're
- 23:02Speaker 3: going to be put into one of those segments. And
- 23:04Speaker 3: I went in and I was like, I want to
- 23:05Speaker 3: show that women could be hot and bosses, but also
- 23:08Speaker 3: depressed and anxious. And they could be angry, but also kind.
- 23:12Speaker 3: I just wanted to be like, I'm a multifaceted woman.
- 23:14Speaker 3: And that's not ideal for reality TV. And I do think,
- 23:19Speaker 3: you saw my first two seasons, I feel like I
- 23:21Speaker 3: was kind of the truth teller role. And then my
- 23:23Speaker 3: last season, I definitely was not in that role. And
- 23:26Speaker 3: you kind of get to see your life narrated through reality.
- 23:30Speaker 3: people who aren't liking you in that moment. And that
- 23:32Speaker 3: is so scary. Like imagine people who don't like you
- 23:36Speaker 3: explain to someone what's going on in your life. Like
- 23:38Speaker 3: that was what it was like watching my last season.
- 23:40Speaker 3: And I was like, fuck! I was like, no, no, no, no, no.
- 23:44Speaker 3: And I didn't have a lot of confessionals in my
- 23:46Speaker 3: last season at all. And I kind of was like, okay,
- 23:48Speaker 3: I could tell. It's even like I like to talk
- 23:51Speaker 3: about like, think about Bethany and Leah McSweeney. They lost
- 23:54Speaker 3: Bethany and they go, we're going to make another star.
- 23:56Speaker 3: And they find Leah. And everyone forgets for a second
- 23:59Speaker 3: about Bethany. The next season they go, everyone loves her
- 24:02Speaker 3: so much, let's get her down a little. Yeah. It's
- 24:05Speaker 3: an art form.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Are you friends with Leah?
- 24:07Speaker 3: I actually am.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:09Speaker 3: Yeah, she's a cool person.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I think, I mean, I think she's in a
- 24:15Speaker 2: hard position because she, you know, came on and was
- 24:20Speaker 2: running around like setting, you know, about to set a
- 24:22Speaker 2: house on fire with tiki torches and naked. Iconic. And
- 24:26Speaker 2: then because she is an alcoholic, she cannot drink and
- 24:30Speaker 2: goes back to being sober. And I really think that
- 24:35Speaker 2: sobriety for a reality star is career suicide. Oh, God.
- 24:39Speaker 2: I hate to say it. It's very, very hard. Not
- 24:41Speaker 2: for everybody. But it's very hard because they sought you out.
- 24:45Speaker 2: And they put you all this alcohol around from the
- 24:48Speaker 2: time of like, you know, Jersey Shore being the first
- 24:51Speaker 2: one to just be like. Where's the beach? Everybody get wasted,
- 24:54Speaker 2: get drunk, be a mess to, you know, then all
- 24:58Speaker 2: these different people that we really enjoy. And I want
- 25:01Speaker 2: people to be sober and stuff. For some, they can
- 25:03Speaker 2: do it. They have enough other talent.
- 25:05Speaker 3: I want people to be sober.
- 25:06Speaker 2: But I'm like, I get it. That's what you are
- 25:08Speaker 2: and you're healthy.
- 25:09Speaker 5: Yes.
- 25:09Speaker 2: But then for other people or like, God, you know,
- 25:13Speaker 2: we can't all be sober. Well, the first part could
- 25:15Speaker 2: only be one or two of us sober if there's
- 25:17Speaker 2: seven of us. Otherwise, the show's going to fucking suck.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Yeah. And it might be smart for her to get sober.
- 25:23Speaker 3: It's true. But it is career suicide because people don't
- 25:26Speaker 3: want to be your first part of your sober journey
- 25:27Speaker 3: is being away from people who are drinking.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Right.
- 25:29Speaker 3: Like number one to like become sober.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:32Speaker 3: So if it's you struggling with your sobriety. I mean,
- 25:35Speaker 3: it's inspirational, but it's also like hard.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not what we want to watch. Like it's
- 25:39Speaker 2: the same, you know, moms that are, you know, with
- 25:43Speaker 2: their kids all day or have jobs and stuff. They
- 25:46Speaker 2: don't want, when they get into bed to watch a
- 25:49Speaker 2: reality show, whether it's Summer House or Banner Pump or,
- 25:53Speaker 2: you know, whatever. I think it's fine if they see moms.
- 25:57Speaker 2: They don't want to see your potty training journey. And
- 26:01Speaker 2: they don't want to see you. And the thing is,
- 26:04Speaker 2: you can't. Listen, I have alcoholics in my family and I,
- 26:08Speaker 2: at 13 years old, was going to a rehab like
- 26:12Speaker 2: on the parent family night. And I was, this is
- 26:14Speaker 2: what I first was like. I like me some fucking
- 26:17Speaker 2: Juicy Scoop. I was like, this is amazing. And like
- 26:21Speaker 2: my mom and I would go to dinner after. And
- 26:23Speaker 2: it was so great because the place was like in
- 26:26Speaker 2: Beverly Hills or wherever. And my dad would take out
- 26:28Speaker 2: this thing that was called like the Saget Guide, like
- 26:29Speaker 2: to find before like. Yahoo, whatever, fine restaurants. So every
- 26:34Speaker 2: Wednesday night in the summer between my, my, uh, let
- 26:38Speaker 2: me see how old I was either between seventh and
- 26:40Speaker 2: eighth grade or eighth. I was like, it's Wednesday night.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Like I'm going to get some fucking juicy scoops and
- 26:45Speaker 2: dark shit. I'm going to hear some really good stories.
- 26:48Speaker 2: And then I'm going to go like, have like a
- 26:49Speaker 2: nice dinner. And, um, even at one point when I
- 26:53Speaker 2: was doing standup in Hollywood, I was like, you know, I,
- 26:56Speaker 2: I met a lot of like recovering people and, um,
- 27:00Speaker 2: They're like, yeah, you got to go. The best one
- 27:02Speaker 2: is the Robertson one, the meeting on Robertson. Now, I
- 27:06Speaker 2: was never sober, but they're like, the best one was
- 27:08Speaker 2: in Robertson because that's where all the agents are. And
- 27:11Speaker 2: I'm like, shit, do I go? To network. To get
- 27:14Speaker 2: like some, yeah, to get some stage time. And even
- 27:17Speaker 2: what I saw, there was one episode where Luann wanted
- 27:19Speaker 2: to go hit the AA meeting, like in Miami.
- 27:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:25Speaker 2: And then Sonia was like all weirded out and then
- 27:27Speaker 2: the camera couldn't go because it's anonymous. We're not supposed
- 27:30Speaker 2: to see other people that are there, right? And then
- 27:33Speaker 2: Sonia's like, oh my God, I didn't really like it.
- 27:35Speaker 2: It was, you know, like homeless people and like it
- 27:37Speaker 2: was sad. I'm like, yeah, it's going to be sad.
- 27:40Speaker 2: And then I'm like, well, Luann went because she was
- 27:42Speaker 2: doing her stand-up in between her songs. She needed to
- 27:46Speaker 2: get her time in. She had a quick little routine
- 27:48Speaker 2: to stories that she tells.
- 27:50Speaker 3: She needed to get a quick set in. I just
- 27:52Speaker 3: envisioned you going up in the Hollywood just being like,
- 27:55Speaker 3: what's the deal with drinking? Am I right? And you
- 27:56Speaker 3: just go off for 20 minutes. You go, does anyone
- 27:58Speaker 3: have a tape of that? Can you light me?
- 28:00Speaker 2: I was seriously thinking about it. It was so hard
- 28:03Speaker 2: to get time. And I always had to invite everybody.
- 28:05Speaker 2: And I'm like, here's a captive audience.
- 28:08Speaker 3: But like, I wasn't, you go, I'm unwrapped. If anyone
- 28:10Speaker 3: wants to know, I am unwrapped.
- 28:13Speaker 2: But the, but the Al-Anon part of it was where
- 28:16Speaker 2: I would hear the juiciest stories. Cause it was like,
- 28:18Speaker 2: I remember my mom and I, this gorgeous girl, stunning
- 28:22Speaker 2: was like, You know, totally had to become like a
- 28:24Speaker 2: prostitute for her drug habit. And my mom's like, could
- 28:27Speaker 2: you believe that story? She had the face of an angel.
- 28:29Speaker 3: She was a complete prostitute. They had these AA meetings.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Oh, my God. And then there was this other guy
- 28:38Speaker 2: that was like in the industry. And he's like, my partner,
- 28:40Speaker 2: like my girlfriend, is not down with me like being sober.
- 28:44Speaker 2: And he had a big coke habit. He's like, but,
- 28:46Speaker 2: you know, the other day I made a drink with
- 28:48Speaker 2: some lime and like it looks like a cocktail. So
- 28:51Speaker 2: maybe that'll work. And I'm like, excuse me, get rid
- 28:54Speaker 2: of your bitchy girlfriend. You're the one who's killing it
- 28:56Speaker 2: in Hollywood. Sorry that you can't do coke anymore. I
- 28:58Speaker 2: was like, that is awful.
- 29:00Speaker 3: He's like, my girlfriend thinks I'm a loser now.
- 29:03Speaker 2: But I made a drink that looks like it has
- 29:05Speaker 2: alcohol in it.
- 29:07Speaker 3: It looked like a rum swizzle, so she didn't fight
- 29:09Speaker 3: with me that night.
- 29:09Speaker 2: So Carl, speaking of which, Carl is sober now. And,
- 29:15Speaker 2: you know, Carl's one of those people, I know that
- 29:18Speaker 2: he's with Lindsay now. But I always thought he came
- 29:20Speaker 2: off really gay. And I'm not saying he's gay at all.
- 29:27Speaker 2: But I am a little older than you. So I'm
- 29:29Speaker 2: very confused by young guys that are not gay. That
- 29:32Speaker 2: to me, in my mind, going to college in the 90s,
- 29:35Speaker 2: we knew what gay was then. when you talked to it.
- 29:41Speaker 2: And now I'm just like, I don't know what the
- 29:43Speaker 2: fuck this is. And then I go, maybe it was
- 29:47Speaker 2: the shorts, because he is so tall that Shorter shorts
- 29:51Speaker 2: to me just look gay, even though they were in
- 29:53Speaker 2: the 80s and they're coming back now. But he wore
- 29:56Speaker 2: male Trina Turk short outfits, like Mr. Turk. A very
- 30:01Speaker 2: cute summer look.
- 30:02Speaker 3: Honestly, he's so good on reality TV. I thought he
- 30:04Speaker 3: was fun.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Honestly, I don't remember him being a horrific drunk or anything,
- 30:10Speaker 2: but good for him being sober. How do you feel
- 30:13Speaker 2: about the fact that they were these good friends... So wait,
- 30:17Speaker 2: they were good friends. They got together. They broke up.
- 30:20Speaker 2: She got with the other guy and then she revealed
- 30:23Speaker 2: she had a miscarriage with him. And then did I
- 30:26Speaker 2: see something where he was.
- 30:26Speaker 3: There was another guy before that, Stephen, that I knew.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Okay. And then with the guy that she had the
- 30:30Speaker 2: miscarriage with, I feel like I read something about that where... Oh,
- 30:35Speaker 2: maybe it was here. Yeah. Yeah. That was he a
- 30:40Speaker 2: little bit upset? Like he didn't really know that she
- 30:42Speaker 2: was going to reveal that or something. I feel like
- 30:45Speaker 2: he was sort of, like, blindsided a little bit and, like,
- 30:48Speaker 2: in a weird way. Was there something like that?
- 30:51Speaker 3: Well, all I know is just that he wasn't a
- 30:54Speaker 3: part of how it was told to America.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Just, like, it becomes, like, a production-type thing where it's, like, yeah,
- 31:02Speaker 3: and maybe he wanted to be heard of, like, what's
- 31:05Speaker 3: the guy's perspective on it.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Right, which is true.
- 31:08Speaker 3: But he wasn't on Summer House, I guess. So that's
- 31:11Speaker 3: the thing. If you're not on the show, like, you
- 31:14Speaker 3: don't get a voice.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Kind of. And you know what must have been awful,
- 31:18Speaker 2: and I can imagine this happened? Somebody sees this. She reveals,
- 31:22Speaker 2: you know, well, I had a miscarriage, and, you know, whatever.
- 31:25Speaker 2: It would have been a beautiful childhood, which is sad.
- 31:28Speaker 2: And you just know, you just know this guy is, like,
- 31:32Speaker 2: doing his thing, and he went to a game, comes home,
- 31:36Speaker 2: lays in his bed, looks on his phone, and there's
- 31:40Speaker 2: probably a bunch of DMs of, like, what did you
- 31:44Speaker 2: do to comfort her? Like some weird thing when they're
- 31:47Speaker 2: perfectly fine and had a decent breakup. But it's like
- 31:50Speaker 2: all those outside voices that reality stars especially get where
- 31:54Speaker 2: someone's seeing, you know, something that was taped four months prior.
- 31:58Speaker 3: This is a really traumatizing life experience. I know. And
- 32:01Speaker 3: it affects everyone involved.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:04Speaker 3: But yeah, I guess he, when you're not on the show,
- 32:06Speaker 3: you don't know when things are airing or how it's,
- 32:08Speaker 3: how it's navigated. Yeah. Um, but like, obviously my heart
- 32:12Speaker 3: goes out to Lindsay for going through that, but to,
- 32:14Speaker 3: you can make a decision. Do you want it to
- 32:16Speaker 3: be public?
- 32:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Do you want to talk about it? And she did.
- 32:19Speaker 3: And I think it was great for women to feel
- 32:21Speaker 3: less alone in something that happens so often. Um, but
- 32:24Speaker 3: I actually, I don't know Jason personally, so I don't,
- 32:27Speaker 3: I can't get like the real good team.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Well, I don't think there is no good team. I mean,
- 32:30Speaker 2: I think they were in a relationship. They weren't engaged.
- 32:33Speaker 2: They weren't married. But this happened. He was obviously made
- 32:36Speaker 2: aware of it, of both being pregnant and no longer
- 32:40Speaker 2: being pregnant, I'm assuming. And, you know, they weren't going
- 32:44Speaker 2: to be life partners. So it was like, okay. But, yeah,
- 32:46Speaker 2: I think that probably it would have been hard for
- 32:50Speaker 2: anybody that goes through that with someone that they cared about.
- 32:52Speaker 2: But then to then have this secondary relationship.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Well, yeah, someone's like doing a press tour about it,
- 32:59Speaker 3: like not Lindsay, but just talking about it.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:01Speaker 3: And the people are just assuming how he felt or
- 33:05Speaker 3: if he was there for her. But all I know,
- 33:07Speaker 3: I feel like they actually it's been pretty amicable. But right. Yeah,
- 33:11Speaker 3: it's it's fun. I feel like every season things always
- 33:15Speaker 3: get like like more and more drama because like First
- 33:19Speaker 3: season of Summer House, there was none of that shit.
- 33:21Speaker 3: But now it's like sobriety and miscarriages. Because you get
- 33:25Speaker 3: deeper into these people's lives to keep it exciting.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Yeah, totally. Okay, so then now they're a couple, Carl
- 33:34Speaker 2: and Lindsay. But you guys are not close anymore, or
- 33:40Speaker 2: are you?
- 33:42Speaker 3: Well, I reached out to them after the reunion, but
- 33:44Speaker 3: I didn't hear back and I mean, I really never
- 33:47Speaker 3: had a lot of beef with Lindsay or Carl, so
- 33:49Speaker 3: it was pretty heartbreaking for me.
- 33:53Speaker 2: That you weren't going to be close anymore? That you
- 33:55Speaker 2: weren't hanging out?
- 33:55Speaker 3: Just that they kind of decided that they were done
- 33:59Speaker 3: with me when I was like, oh, I've known you
- 34:01Speaker 3: guys for four years. So that was hard.
- 34:04Speaker 2: And did you feel like it because you're not on
- 34:07Speaker 2: the show, so you're really no use, and it makes
- 34:09Speaker 2: it hard to be friends with someone not on the show?
- 34:12Speaker 3: Oh, not at all. I'm best friends with Paige and Sierra.
- 34:13Speaker 2: I'm closer to them. No, but with them, I'm saying.
- 34:16Speaker 3: Or not.
- 34:17Speaker 2: You know what? Sometimes I just think it's complicated. It's like,
- 34:19Speaker 2: I think with some people, you work with people and
- 34:23Speaker 2: the job ends.
- 34:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:25Speaker 2: And you keep in touch for the next hundred years. Yeah.
- 34:28Speaker 2: And it doesn't matter. And then I think with other people,
- 34:31Speaker 2: whether it's reality show or not, it's just like, I don't.
- 34:37Speaker 3: Well, what happened with us is we were very close
- 34:39Speaker 3: and then COVID hit. So no one really spoke for like.
- 34:43Speaker 3: in person for six months and we were doing giggly
- 34:45Speaker 3: squad and people were just kind of seeing us online
- 34:48Speaker 3: and then we had this intense summer where we were
- 34:50Speaker 3: locked into a house COVID it was horrible and then
- 34:53Speaker 3: no one saw each other after that because it's still
- 34:54Speaker 3: COVID so it's airing and there was just so much
- 34:56Speaker 3: virtual drama and then they kind of were like we're
- 34:59Speaker 3: not friends with you anymore and um and I I
- 35:02Speaker 3: guess like I tried to not with all these cameras
- 35:07Speaker 3: in a reunion setting where you need good drama be
- 35:09Speaker 3: like call them and be like hey let's like actually
- 35:12Speaker 3: like friend to friend yeah work this out and it
- 35:14Speaker 3: wasn't I feel like if they had talked to me
- 35:17Speaker 3: then it would mean like maybe I'd be back on
- 35:19Speaker 3: the show if we're being honest and they kind of.
- 35:22Speaker 2: And maybe they realized that yeah.
- 35:24Speaker 3: They made their choice that they're not friends with me
- 35:26Speaker 3: anymore and it feels very high school like MySpace top
- 35:29Speaker 3: 8 but I'm out of the MySpace top 8.
- 35:31Speaker 2: But I mean that's reality shows are high school say
- 35:34Speaker 2: it as much as you want it's a reality show
- 35:35Speaker 2: oh my.
- 35:36Speaker 3: God yeah like it is high school it's totally high
- 35:37Speaker 3: school and I did realize like Yeah, you have to
- 35:42Speaker 3: be a little political, and I have a lot of
- 35:44Speaker 3: trouble putting on a fake face when I feel a
- 35:47Speaker 3: type of way about something. Yeah. Yeah.
- 35:50Speaker 2: And then Kyle and Amanda. So I did not realize
- 35:54Speaker 2: he's 39 and she's 30. Now, one of your greatest
- 35:57Speaker 2: lines was when you said, I'm getting screamed at by
- 36:00Speaker 2: an angry leprechaun, and he really did look like an
- 36:03Speaker 2: angry leprechaun. I mean, his face was very red.
- 36:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it was one of those things where
- 36:08Speaker 3: you're crying. I was crying for like 10 minutes and
- 36:10Speaker 3: the camera guys are just looking at me and like
- 36:12Speaker 3: the comedian in me was like, say something that entertains someone,
- 36:15Speaker 3: you sad bitch. And looking back at it, it was
- 36:19Speaker 3: kind of mean, but we like laughed at it at
- 36:21Speaker 3: the time.
- 36:22Speaker 2: Do you think there was any correlation to the fact
- 36:25Speaker 2: that you did marry a guy that spent a lot of.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Time in Ireland?
- 36:30Speaker 3: But you've seen a lot of leprechauns recently and it
- 36:32Speaker 3: was just in your head.
- 36:33Speaker 5: Yes.
- 36:34Speaker 3: I do like eating that cereal, Lucky Charms.
- 36:37Speaker 2: Yes.
- 36:38Speaker 3: That could be it. No, I was being a dick.
- 36:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:40Speaker 3: I was being a dick.
- 36:43Speaker 2: And you think the leprechaun thing pissed him off.
- 36:47Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, it probably did. But also like me
- 36:50Speaker 3: and him, we were mean to each other that season.
- 36:52Speaker 3: We just like did not get along. And yeah.
- 36:56Speaker 2: And now they did get married, right? They finally got married.
- 36:58Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah.
- 37:00Speaker 2: I mean, the little bit I saw of this season,
- 37:02Speaker 2: I'm just like, yeah. I mean, no relationship is going
- 37:08Speaker 2: to flourish like that. When you're with a bunch of
- 37:11Speaker 2: other single people in a house and everyone and cameras
- 37:14Speaker 2: and commenting on everything and everybody's drinking.
- 37:18Speaker 3: Every night. How do you feel about your relationship?
- 37:21Speaker 2: I mean, you know, and then let's talk about the
- 37:23Speaker 2: fact that you guys fought.
- 37:24Speaker 3: We all heard what you said to her last night.
- 37:26Speaker 3: Let's dissect it. Yeah, exactly.
- 37:28Speaker 2: It's wild. Here's the thing. In real marriage without cameras
- 37:32Speaker 2: and stuff, you know, you get in a fight. some
- 37:36Speaker 2: fight happens and you wake up, you make a pot
- 37:40Speaker 2: of coffee, make some eggs all a denial and you
- 37:43Speaker 2: move the fuck on. Yeah. And sometimes you don't need
- 37:45Speaker 2: to talk about it. Sometimes you just go, you know what?
- 37:47Speaker 2: That was a drug thing and who cares? Or you're
- 37:49Speaker 2: just being a dick or I was being a bitch.
- 37:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:51Speaker 2: But then to have like the world be able to
- 37:54Speaker 2: get into it. But even just in the moment, like
- 37:56Speaker 2: other girlfriends and other people being like, you.
- 37:59Speaker 3: Need to Well, imagine, you know how you get into
- 38:02Speaker 3: a fight in front of, like, one friend, and you
- 38:04Speaker 3: are so embarrassed for, like, six weeks in front of
- 38:06Speaker 3: that friend?
- 38:06Speaker 2: You mean you get in a fight with, like, your boyfriend,
- 38:08Speaker 2: but your friend's not?
- 38:09Speaker 3: Yeah, and your friend's like, oh my god. That's what
- 38:11Speaker 3: they have to experience with the world.
- 38:12Speaker 2: They're like, you need to go to a shelter. You're like, oh, Jesus. No.
- 38:16Speaker 3: If you need me, I'm here. And you're like, honestly,
- 38:18Speaker 3: we were drunk. But I do have to give them
- 38:20Speaker 3: credit where, like, they've had so many ups and downs,
- 38:24Speaker 3: you can call it, on the show, and they always
- 38:26Speaker 3: put themselves out there. I think my season, we were, like,
- 38:29Speaker 3: locked in, and there were some insecurities that we were
- 38:32Speaker 3: both poking each other on.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:34Speaker 3: And I think ultimately like what I would, cause I
- 38:38Speaker 3: haven't spoken to Kyle either, but what I would tell
- 38:40Speaker 3: them is like, yeah, I actually, you know, I commend
- 38:43Speaker 3: them for everything they've put out there and they've made
- 38:45Speaker 3: the show amazing. And ultimately like I always have been
- 38:48Speaker 3: rooting for them. I just like when I see certain things,
- 38:52Speaker 3: I get triggered and I was having, I was feeling
- 38:55Speaker 3: very like survivor mode stuck in the house where I
- 38:57Speaker 3: was like, don't speak to her like that. Don't touch
- 38:59Speaker 3: me like that. And it was really hard. And I actually,
- 39:02Speaker 3: if you look at other seasons, I think it was
- 39:05Speaker 3: my first season, Kyle was crying on an island about
- 39:08Speaker 3: him and Amanda. And I was like, you can do this.
- 39:10Speaker 3: You love her. And that's the relationship that I really
- 39:15Speaker 3: do want to have with them. Because my season, I
- 39:18Speaker 3: was gone. Everyone just tried to tear apart their relationship.
- 39:21Speaker 3: And I don't want that either.
- 39:22Speaker 2: So wait, it's summer now. Are they filming now?
- 39:27Speaker 3: They're going to.
- 39:28Speaker 2: And what's your knowledge of who's all... coming back and who's.
- 39:30Speaker 3: Not I don't know exactly I'm pretty sure Paige is
- 39:34Speaker 3: okay um and Paige and Sarah I've kind of been
- 39:39Speaker 3: closest like I've gotten closer with them which is kind
- 39:41Speaker 3: of crazy because Summer House is like an ex to me.
- 39:44Speaker 3: Like you don't want to know about it.
- 39:45Speaker 2: Right. I know. Like I said, you don't want to
- 39:49Speaker 2: follow your Instagram, whatever. No. Something you're not friends with.
- 39:52Speaker 2: What about now Paige and Pillow. What's his name?
- 39:56Speaker 3: Craig. Craig. The Pillow Man.
- 39:59Speaker 2: And they fell in love on Winter House.
- 40:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 40:02Speaker 2: They're like complete couple.
- 40:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:05Speaker 2: They're not engaged yet, right?
- 40:06Speaker 3: No.
- 40:07Speaker 2: And why wouldn't we just bring, why wouldn't you just
- 40:10Speaker 2: go with Craig and they can be the new Amanda
- 40:12Speaker 2: and Kyle and they can like, we don't know if
- 40:14Speaker 2: they're going to get engaged or not. Then they get engaged.
- 40:17Speaker 3: I feel like with reality TV, they're so quick to
- 40:19Speaker 3: be like, okay, when's the engagement? You like each other,
- 40:21Speaker 3: when's the engagement?
- 40:22Speaker 2: Well, that's, I mean, because you, you give them that too.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Like if I was Carl and Lindsay or Paige, I
- 40:30Speaker 2: would say, here's the deal. We're going to move into
- 40:33Speaker 2: the house. We're going to be into each other. We'll
- 40:37Speaker 2: make sure, like, a couple times.
- 40:39Speaker 3: We'll have some ups and downs.
- 40:40Speaker 2: I'll make sure a couple times I take too long
- 40:42Speaker 2: and everyone's waiting in the Sprinter van. And, like, there's
- 40:45Speaker 2: an irritating thing happening. One thing he does is this.
- 40:48Speaker 3: So call me a bitch once.
- 40:49Speaker 2: I'm going to get drunk and I'm going to let
- 40:52Speaker 2: my makeup get all over one of his best pillows.
- 40:55Speaker 3: I'll make out with his friend if you need me.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. A couple things might happen. But then, you know,
- 41:01Speaker 2: at the end... We'll get engaged on the show at
- 41:05Speaker 2: the summer house. And then next year, it's the planning
- 41:10Speaker 2: of the wedding and all that stuff. And will we
- 41:12Speaker 2: and won't we and will we and won't we? And
- 41:14Speaker 2: then if you really want to milk it, then the
- 41:18Speaker 2: third year you hire me, we get married at the
- 41:21Speaker 2: summer house. I wonder, can anybody ever do a deal
- 41:25Speaker 2: like that? Like, give me a three-year contract and I
- 41:29Speaker 2: will sell my soul to Bravo. I mean, we.
- 41:33Speaker 3: We watched that exact thing happen earlier with that relationship.
- 41:37Speaker 5: Yes.
- 41:37Speaker 3: So just copy it. It's a blueprint. After I finished
- 41:41Speaker 3: my last summer, after filming, we were still waiting for
- 41:44Speaker 3: it to air, Des just proposed to me. And I'm
- 41:49Speaker 3: thinking back now that you're talking, and I'm like, oh,
- 41:52Speaker 3: that wasn't in the rule book of being on a
- 41:55Speaker 3: reality TV show.
- 41:56Speaker 2: If you would have consulted with me. Okay. I would
- 42:01Speaker 2: have said there's got to be a couple moments where
- 42:03Speaker 2: you sit down and go, I like this guy, but
- 42:06Speaker 2: these are my concerns. And then everybody, we pick them
- 42:11Speaker 2: apart a little bit. You know when people would say,
- 42:15Speaker 2: when you do a job interview, and then they're like,
- 42:18Speaker 2: and what are your weaknesses? And you're supposed to say
- 42:21Speaker 2: that I care too much, that I hold myself too accountable.
- 42:26Speaker 2: I'm really organized. I'm loyal to a fault. It's all
- 42:31Speaker 2: those positive things.
- 42:33Speaker 3: Honestly, he's so doting over me sometimes.
- 42:35Speaker 2: Yeah, so you do things that won't hurt him or
- 42:38Speaker 2: his reputation or anything, but you act like it's concerns.
- 42:41Speaker 2: Then we don't know if you're going to get together.
- 42:43Speaker 2: The other people go off and talk about it. This
- 42:46Speaker 2: and that. And then he surprises you on camera with
- 42:50Speaker 2: a ring.
- 42:50Speaker 3: I have to tell you, the thing with Des is
- 42:53Speaker 3: he didn't even tell his agent. that he was going
- 42:55Speaker 3: to go on the show. We just were, like, falling
- 42:57Speaker 3: for each other, and he was like, nothing bad can happen.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Turns out, like, him coming for two days, they made into, like,
- 43:02Speaker 3: a three-episode saga, and it was this whole thing that I, whatever.
- 43:06Speaker 3: And if he went down on his knee to propose
- 43:09Speaker 3: to me in February, and I said, stop, this is
- 43:11Speaker 3: not good for my reality TV star career, can you wait?
- 43:15Speaker 3: He's the kind of guy that would be like, I'm out. Like,
- 43:18Speaker 3: that's so lame. And, like, so there's two kinds of
- 43:21Speaker 3: lives you could live. You could find a guy who's, like,
- 43:23Speaker 3: down to, make entertainment out of that. And he's a
- 43:27Speaker 3: little too, like, he's just like a comic.
- 43:30Speaker 2: I think you did the right thing. I'm saying, if
- 43:34Speaker 2: you were to go back in time, I had no,
- 43:37Speaker 2: I had to go back in time. You could have said,
- 43:40Speaker 2: I don't know. You were like, you could have said like, look,
- 43:45Speaker 2: I love spending time with you. We could hang out
- 43:47Speaker 2: for five years and do nothing or we could get
- 43:49Speaker 2: married or whatever. Like you're into, I'm into you. However, if, if,
- 43:55Speaker 2: if we want to do this a little bit longer, wink, wink,
- 43:59Speaker 2: like that's what I would do. Yeah.
- 44:01Speaker 3: You know, I think also for me, reality TV, like
- 44:05Speaker 3: I started as like in the comedy space and reality
- 44:07Speaker 3: TV was a great way to get a platform.
- 44:09Speaker 4: Right.
- 44:09Speaker 3: And I didn't think I'd be good. And then like
- 44:11Speaker 3: people started to like me and then people started to
- 44:13Speaker 3: hate me. And I kind of was like, Oh, I'm
- 44:15Speaker 3: getting out of my alignment, which is that I just
- 44:17Speaker 3: want to make people laugh. And like, and I like
- 44:20Speaker 3: the control of being on stage and being like my
- 44:22Speaker 3: vulnerable self. That's not like, cut up into a small place.
- 44:26Speaker 3: But I do miss it sometimes. Like it was so
- 44:29Speaker 3: much fun. But I was really fun when I'm single
- 44:32Speaker 3: and I'm flirty and I'm silly and I'm naughty. But
- 44:35Speaker 3: I guess Married Hannah is a different situation, even though
- 44:39Speaker 3: Des is great on camera. Yeah.
- 44:42Speaker 2: So now what happened with all the controversy about people
- 44:45Speaker 2: saying that there were tweets and there were memes and
- 44:48Speaker 2: stuff that were out there that then you used?
- 44:51Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 44:52Speaker 2: What is the story behind that and how I went
- 44:54Speaker 2: through all the truth. Yeah. Just tell me how you
- 44:56Speaker 2: feel about it. Cause I, I talk about that too.
- 44:58Speaker 2: People just sent me something in a very popular standup
- 45:02Speaker 2: special that just came out and they're like, Oh, you know.
- 45:05Speaker 3: They stole it.
- 45:06Speaker 2: And I said, I'm if, if, if she stole it,
- 45:09Speaker 2: I'm among some of the best she's stolen from. But
- 45:12Speaker 2: I also think everyone's talking about COVID and there's very
- 45:16Speaker 2: similar jokes out there. And like, who cares?
- 45:18Speaker 3: I went through a really hard time in my last
- 45:20Speaker 3: reality TV show. show where like fans were getting angry
- 45:24Speaker 3: and fans were starting to kind of like there was
- 45:26Speaker 3: specific fans that every couple weeks had like a different
- 45:30Speaker 3: kind of accusation against me like a full like kind
- 45:32Speaker 3: of cancel culture thing that was really scary at the
- 45:35Speaker 3: time and they would throw something out about me and
- 45:37Speaker 3: it won't stick and they throw something out and then
- 45:40Speaker 3: I've been tweeting for over six years and there's sometimes
- 45:43Speaker 3: like little tweet formats like sex is cool but have
- 45:45Speaker 3: you ever had chips on your sandwich. And so they
- 45:48Speaker 3: definitely went through all like 5,000 tweets and they found
- 45:51Speaker 3: about four that were similar going in the atmosphere. A
- 45:56Speaker 3: lot of them were like tweets that were from like
- 45:59Speaker 3: two years ago where like they weren't even viral that
- 46:02Speaker 3: I wouldn't have seen. And they found there like four
- 46:05Speaker 3: or five tweets and they pushed that as hard as
- 46:07Speaker 3: they could. And the, I feel like there is common
- 46:11Speaker 3: thought sometimes. And now I've before I tweet, I make
- 46:14Speaker 3: sure that there's like nothing on the internet that's similar
- 46:16Speaker 3: to it. Um, and it was like a good learning experience.
- 46:20Speaker 2: Yeah. Like I, I actually had this, a couple of
- 46:24Speaker 2: jokes in my last special and they were like solid
- 46:28Speaker 2: crowd pleasing fucking everywhere I go. Great jokes. Yeah. But
- 46:32Speaker 2: I noticed that other comics were doing stuff very similar
- 46:38Speaker 2: and I'm like, I would rather cut it out of mine,
- 46:42Speaker 2: even though I know I'm the one who said it first.
- 46:44Speaker 2: I would rather cut it out of mine than have
- 46:46Speaker 2: it get out and people think that, A, I stole,
- 46:48Speaker 2: or B, just hacky.
- 46:50Speaker 3: Yes. Well, that's also what happens. When I was at Betches,
- 46:54Speaker 3: the whole, do I like him more? We kind of
- 46:56Speaker 3: started that and stuff. And then some people have accused
- 46:58Speaker 3: me of stealing stuff that I was the one who
- 47:00Speaker 3: wrote the joke originally. But I have friends who all
- 47:04Speaker 3: the time will message me and be like, oh, fuck,
- 47:06Speaker 3: I just tweeted this, and I know you tweeted that
- 47:08Speaker 3: three years ago. It's similar stuff. But this is the
- 47:11Speaker 3: thing with Twitter. It's topical. So something will happen like,
- 47:14Speaker 3: for example, Paul Rudd comes out and he has beautiful skin.
- 47:17Speaker 3: And everyone's tweeting about Paul's skincare routine. We want to
- 47:21Speaker 3: see it. So I tweeted something like, why are we
- 47:22Speaker 3: looking at influencers like Paul Rudd's skincare routine? And someone
- 47:27Speaker 3: had tweeted something similar two years ago. I never saw
- 47:30Speaker 3: that tweet. And it was fucking end of the world.
- 47:34Speaker 2: But also... That's been a long-running joke that he's always
- 47:38Speaker 2: looked so young for his age.
- 47:40Speaker 3: It's not an original thought.
- 47:41Speaker 2: No, but it's like Ralph Macchio always looked young for
- 47:44Speaker 2: his age. So does Paul Rudd. That's been a common thing.
- 47:49Speaker 3: But it is something I'm navigating. For example, something on Twitter,
- 47:52Speaker 3: I was doing stand-up and an alarm went off and
- 47:54Speaker 3: I go, take your birth control. And it went viral.
- 47:56Speaker 3: And then Annie Letterman DMed me and she was like,
- 47:58Speaker 3: by the way, I've done that crowd work before. Could
- 48:01Speaker 3: you take it? like just letting you know, I did.
- 48:03Speaker 2: It before you were on stage and someone's like, and.
- 48:07Speaker 3: I go take your birth control. And that's like a
- 48:09Speaker 3: crowd work thing that I've always done.
- 48:10Speaker 2: Yes.
- 48:10Speaker 3: And like another female comic was like, I've done that.
- 48:13Speaker 3: And I, cause she posted it before me. Then I
- 48:16Speaker 3: was like, okay, I totally get that. And we're just
- 48:18Speaker 3: navigating that. But I do have to say, I've now
- 48:21Speaker 3: more conscious of like, I don't just like when Will
- 48:24Speaker 3: Smith is like, how many times when Will Smith hit
- 48:26Speaker 3: Chris Rock, did the same jokes go around? Um, I
- 48:29Speaker 3: do think also as you become a big creator, you
- 48:31Speaker 3: have to be conscious of like you are the one
- 48:34Speaker 3: with the following. So if someone had a typical idea,
- 48:36Speaker 3: a similar idea, it would look bad. But thanks for
- 48:40Speaker 3: asking me about it because it's the most painful thing
- 48:43Speaker 3: for someone to accuse you of being a joke stealer.
- 48:45Speaker 3: But people love to go for what people care about
- 48:47Speaker 3: the most. And like obviously I was trying to be
- 48:48Speaker 3: a comic. So it was like pretty hard for me.
- 48:51Speaker 3: But yeah. At no times was it ever a joke
- 48:54Speaker 3: that was original or a good joke that was like,
- 48:58Speaker 3: it's always like a quick one thing about like, that's
- 49:02Speaker 3: a common thought.
- 49:03Speaker 2: I'll tell you, I do sympathize and empathize with you
- 49:06Speaker 2: in that because, so I was doing standup so long
- 49:10Speaker 2: ago and I had a star 69 joke. And back
- 49:14Speaker 2: in the day, if someone called and hung up on
- 49:17Speaker 2: you or whatever, or you just want to call back
- 49:19Speaker 2: the last person that you called, you press star 69
- 49:21Speaker 2: and you were able to call them back without knowing
- 49:23Speaker 2: their number or anything. Okay. Um, so obviously there's a
- 49:27Speaker 2: joke there, 69. So I made a joke. I can't
- 49:30Speaker 2: remember something about sex and dating your ex-boyfriend and something
- 49:34Speaker 2: star 69 joke. So I'm the MC of the night
- 49:38Speaker 2: and I say that joke and, And this other guy
- 49:41Speaker 2: comes up and he does his act. And he does
- 49:45Speaker 2: not the same joke but in the same realm. I
- 49:47Speaker 2: immediately go up to him and go, just so you know,
- 49:50Speaker 2: you weren't here when I did my joke. My joke,
- 49:53Speaker 2: I have a star 69 bit. And he goes, well,
- 49:54Speaker 2: what is it? And I tell him what it is.
- 49:56Speaker 2: And he goes, oh, well, thanks. I don't even think
- 49:58Speaker 2: they're similar.
- 49:59Speaker 3: And I go, okay.
- 50:00Speaker 2: I just want you to know because I was like,
- 50:01Speaker 2: I don't want you to think I stole it. But
- 50:02Speaker 2: I also was being nice by saying maybe that's why
- 50:05Speaker 2: that didn't get that big of a laugh. Yeah. Okay.
- 50:07Speaker 2: Like because I already kind of covered it. Time goes on.
- 50:11Speaker 2: I'm like a regular now at the improv. And like
- 50:14Speaker 2: the owner of the improv like thinks I have a
- 50:17Speaker 2: TV show and me and all this stuff. And because
- 50:19Speaker 2: I'm from L.A., whenever I'd have a show, I'd invite
- 50:22Speaker 2: a bunch of people. And they were like a fucking
- 50:24Speaker 2: cool USC crowd. And they were like the great audience.
- 50:27Speaker 2: So now these bitter people are saying, I packed the audience.
- 50:30Speaker 2: I'm not funny. How is this girl getting these spots?
- 50:33Speaker 2: And that same comic.
- 50:36Speaker 5: No.
- 50:37Speaker 2: So then it gets back to my manager that I
- 50:41Speaker 2: steal material. The Star 69.
- 50:44Speaker 3: It is the worst thing you can accuse a comic of.
- 50:46Speaker 2: So I fucking go to the improv with my notebook.
- 50:52Speaker 3: Dated.
- 50:52Speaker 2: And I'm like, this is how the joke.
- 50:54Speaker 3: The receipts.
- 50:55Speaker 2: This is me journaling. This is how I thought of it.
- 50:58Speaker 2: This is the date. I was like, no one wanted
- 51:00Speaker 2: to know. No one wanted to care. Because like anything,
- 51:03Speaker 2: the minute someone makes an accusation about you, That would
- 51:06Speaker 2: happen sometimes on Chelsea Lately. We'd be like, oh, there's
- 51:08Speaker 2: been a retraction. And we're like, who cares? That was
- 51:10Speaker 2: three days ago. And we just wouldn't cover it. And
- 51:12Speaker 2: it's like, but when you're the person being accused of something,
- 51:14Speaker 2: you're like, but I didn't do that. I didn't sell
- 51:17Speaker 2: stories to the tab.
- 51:18Speaker 3: Well, it's crazy how when I was having, like, Looking
- 51:20Speaker 3: Bad on Summer House, everyone was kind of jumping in like,
- 51:22Speaker 3: and she steals tweets, and she's an asshole. And it
- 51:25Speaker 3: was a scary... I even remember one of the tweets
- 51:27Speaker 3: was I was like, I know I'm getting old because
- 51:30Speaker 3: I like air fryers. Like, that's not a joke. That's
- 51:32Speaker 3: just me, like... That's what they're saying I'm stealing.
- 51:36Speaker 2: When I have.
- 51:37Speaker 3: I mean, now I'm getting heated, but I have a
- 51:39Speaker 3: TikTok with hundreds of stand-up bits.
- 51:43Speaker 2: Yes.
- 51:43Speaker 3: And I've never once been accused of stealing any stand-up bit.
- 51:46Speaker 3: But should I have tweeted, my air fryers are when
- 51:49Speaker 3: you're getting old? It wasn't worth it for all the hassle.
- 51:52Speaker 3: But at the time, you just get your phone and
- 51:54Speaker 3: you're like, air fryers are stupid. And you post it.
- 51:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:57Speaker 3: And people... They found like five or six tweets, which
- 52:00Speaker 3: honestly I was kind of impressed that only five or
- 52:02Speaker 3: six out of 5,000 tweets that I've been tweeting. But
- 52:05Speaker 3: someone actually brought it up to me. They were like,
- 52:07Speaker 3: someone talked about it on Juicy Scoop. And I was like.
- 52:11Speaker 2: I think I brought it up.
- 52:12Speaker 3: No, I think. Because it was like a topic. It
- 52:15Speaker 3: was like a story. And I was like, oh my God,
- 52:16Speaker 3: this is like my worst nightmare. But I remember someone
- 52:19Speaker 3: mentioning like, you know, Heather's in the comedy world. And
- 52:20Speaker 3: she was like, she was asking questions about it. She's like,
- 52:23Speaker 3: let's not just assume that Hannah's out here just like.
- 52:26Speaker 3: Also with Twitter, what are you going to do? See
- 52:28Speaker 3: a viral tweet and just write it? Or like, I'm scrolling.
- 52:31Speaker 2: Or like, or you know, you're seeing a tweet and
- 52:33Speaker 2: you're like, this is fun. I'm going to save this
- 52:34Speaker 2: for about six months from now.
- 52:35Speaker 3: No, that's the thing. I was accused of jokes from
- 52:37Speaker 3: like two years ago. You think I'm going to see
- 52:39Speaker 3: a random tweet from two years ago? Wait. And then
- 52:41Speaker 3: I post it and it's not even that funny. It's
- 52:43Speaker 3: about an air fryer. I'm not going to do that.
- 52:45Speaker 3: And to be honest, I'm just putting a lot of
- 52:47Speaker 3: my effort into TikTok now because people don't know who
- 52:50Speaker 3: I am there. So they just kind of. They're not like, oh,
- 52:53Speaker 3: that's a girl from Summer House. So it's been nice
- 52:55Speaker 3: to have a new community.
- 52:56Speaker 2: But what I learned from that, okay, because is that
- 53:01Speaker 2: sometimes the easiest and the most well-received jokes are the Tinder, Bumble,
- 53:06Speaker 2: Air Fryer, Costco jokes and COVID because everyone can relate.
- 53:11Speaker 2: But what I learned from that in that moment was
- 53:14Speaker 2: If I talk about my own personal life and my
- 53:16Speaker 2: own personal stories that have happened to me, no one
- 53:18Speaker 2: can accuse me of stealing that joke. But it's nice
- 53:22Speaker 2: to sometimes have those crowd-pleasing, literally one-liner jokes. And if
- 53:27Speaker 2: you've got one, you don't want to give it up
- 53:29Speaker 2: because maybe someone's saying that you, you know, or too
- 53:31Speaker 2: many people are doing it. You like to have those
- 53:33Speaker 2: little place ones where you're like, boom. But the fact
- 53:36Speaker 2: that Annie wrote you, that's appropriate. That's like to be like, hey,
- 53:41Speaker 2: girl to girl, comic to comic.
- 53:43Speaker 3: I tweeted something about having a bad face day instead
- 53:46Speaker 3: of a bad hair day. And Nikki Glaser immediately texted
- 53:48Speaker 3: me with a screenshot of her notes with the date
- 53:51Speaker 3: and was like, by the way, two weeks ago I
- 53:52Speaker 3: was working on this bit on stage. Well, you know
- 53:54Speaker 3: I didn't steal it. Can I still work on it?
- 53:56Speaker 3: And I'm like, yeah, I'm not doing anything with it. So, like,
- 53:58Speaker 3: there's a community of, like, actual joke writers who are, like,
- 54:00Speaker 3: navigating stuff.
- 54:01Speaker 2: Because I think in this world of, you know, not
- 54:04Speaker 2: just going on stage where no one's filming it, but
- 54:07Speaker 2: all the podcasts and tapings and all this stuff where
- 54:10Speaker 2: people can say, you said this and, you know, like,
- 54:14Speaker 2: we don't want to be accused of it. We don't.
- 54:16Speaker 2: And then sometimes the accuser, if the comic is beloved
- 54:20Speaker 2: and so big, some of the people that did go after, like,
- 54:22Speaker 2: Amy Schumer and stuff, they.
- 54:26Speaker 2: It wasn't good for them either. So it's like, when
- 54:28Speaker 2: someone even brings it up to me, I'm like, thank
- 54:31Speaker 2: God I can write other stuff. Thanks for pointing it out.
- 54:34Speaker 3: But I do think you nailed it. These were tweets that, like,
- 54:37Speaker 3: I posted one tweet on my Instagram a day for, like,
- 54:40Speaker 3: three years. I didn't like posting photos. I just wanted to, like, work.
- 54:44Speaker 2: On the writing.
- 54:44Speaker 3: It was like a writing thing, but, like, real jokes. But, um,
- 54:48Speaker 3: At some point, I think I really just like wanted
- 54:50Speaker 3: a good tweet for the day. Yeah. And I did
- 54:52Speaker 3: have some like hacky stuff for sure.
- 54:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 54:54Speaker 3: About air fryers. And looking back, it's like that was
- 54:57Speaker 3: kind of my little karma for just.
- 54:59Speaker 2: Like posting something for quick likes. Well, I have a
- 55:00Speaker 2: hilarious crock pot bit. Yeah. Just kidding.
- 55:04Speaker 3: I mean, the 69 thing sounds funny. If you see
- 55:06Speaker 3: me on stage, don't say anything.
- 55:07Speaker 2: I mean, it's a very old joke.
- 55:10Speaker 3: No Gen Zs would understand it now. Yes, yes.
- 55:13Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean, it was like a learning thing
- 55:15Speaker 2: and it really pissed me off. And this guy was
- 55:17Speaker 2: like actively trying to fuck me over by saying it.
- 55:21Speaker 2: And I was like, you're so fucked. What did I
- 55:23Speaker 2: do wrong?
- 55:23Speaker 3: I had a particular like Paul Rudd tweet that the
- 55:26Speaker 3: problem is mine like went viral. And then it was
- 55:28Speaker 3: like a Bravo account who posted like two years ago,
- 55:31Speaker 3: she had tweeted something similarly. I kind of wanted to
- 55:33Speaker 3: be like, there's no way I would have seen that.
- 55:36Speaker 3: Paul Rudd having nice skin is, it was a common thought,
- 55:38Speaker 3: but like Paul Rudd having good skin. It's not an original,
- 55:42Speaker 3: like great joke of mine. It's just so, and they're like,
- 55:46Speaker 3: fuck this bitch. Like so much hate. And it's, it's hard.
- 55:51Speaker 2: It's like all the, a lot of the people that
- 55:53Speaker 2: are doing the, the Bravo commentary and podcasting and, And,
- 55:58Speaker 2: you know, there's so many of them now versus like
- 56:01Speaker 2: four years ago. They're into it and some of them
- 56:05Speaker 2: want that same fame. And, you know, so it's like
- 56:08Speaker 2: they are sometimes they're fans, but they're also probably really
- 56:12Speaker 2: jealous that like that they didn't get to experience fame.
- 56:17Speaker 2: the platform, but they're huge fans of the shows and
- 56:19Speaker 2: all that. And so that sometimes those people can get nasty.
- 56:22Speaker 2: Some of the Bravo meme pages are so fucking funny.
- 56:24Speaker 2: Like I used to follow them all. I love when
- 56:26Speaker 2: they made something like funny about me. Yeah.
- 56:28Speaker 3: Um, but then sometimes it goes dark and then you're like, Oh,
- 56:30Speaker 3: I need to mute that. Like then sometimes it's straight mean,
- 56:33Speaker 3: like it's not even snark. It's just mean.
- 56:35Speaker 2: Right.
- 56:35Speaker 3: Like who do we hate the most? And I'm like,
- 56:37Speaker 3: this is not good for my mental health.
- 56:39Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, yeah, I mean, no, it's, Yeah, I mean,
- 56:43Speaker 2: someone told me like, oh, you know, there's this whole
- 56:45Speaker 2: group of people who hate you that you've kicked out
- 56:49Speaker 2: of your Facebook group. I'm like, okay, good. I mean,
- 56:54Speaker 2: that's the thing about the podcast. I'm like, you can
- 56:56Speaker 2: still listen to me for free twice a week, whether
- 56:59Speaker 2: you hate me, whether we stop being friends, whether you
- 57:03Speaker 2: sent me a death threat. Like I can't block you
- 57:07Speaker 2: from listening, though. However, I bet that prediction that'll be
- 57:11Speaker 2: something new that happens in the podcast world where you
- 57:14Speaker 2: can almost like block a listener's account or something. It's
- 57:17Speaker 2: going to take a while. It's going to take like
- 57:18Speaker 2: two years to get that technology. But I think that'll
- 57:20Speaker 2: probably happen.
- 57:21Speaker 3: I do know that the best podcasts are the ones
- 57:23Speaker 3: with the worst reviews. Like if you only have good reviews,
- 57:26Speaker 3: I'm like, no one listens to your podcast. But I
- 57:28Speaker 3: feel like podcast reviews are so toxic because it feels
- 57:31Speaker 3: like yelping you as a person.
- 57:33Speaker 2: Yes.
- 57:33Speaker 3: Because people will, like, rate my podcast based on a
- 57:35Speaker 3: fight I had on Summer House.
- 57:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 57:36Speaker 3: And, like, I feel like the reviews shouldn't be a thing.
- 57:40Speaker 2: No, I've literally had a review where they're, like, you know,
- 57:43Speaker 2: criticizing my relationship with my stepdaughter. And I'm like, but
- 57:48Speaker 2: then there'll be another one that's, like, the thing I
- 57:50Speaker 2: love most about her is what a great stepmom she is. Like,
- 57:53Speaker 2: I think, yeah, I think my reviews are like, you know,
- 57:57Speaker 2: a long thing, a five star. The tiniest, tiniest three
- 58:01Speaker 2: and four, tiny, tiny, and then like a decent one star.
- 58:05Speaker 2: And it's like, and sometimes I just go read the
- 58:07Speaker 2: one stars. Just to like.
- 58:09Speaker 3: Oh, you're naughty.
- 58:10Speaker 2: Like a drug.
- 58:11Speaker 3: Like a naughty drug.
- 58:12Speaker 2: Sometimes I'm going through it, I'm like, nice, nice.
- 58:15Speaker 5: Like.
- 58:16Speaker 2: Why am I getting that energy? But that's the thing.
- 58:17Speaker 3: Everyone's podcast is only five stars and one stars, and
- 58:20Speaker 3: I've never read reviews to be like, I should listen
- 58:22Speaker 3: to this. You know it's all just wild shit being said.
- 58:26Speaker 2: And it's crazy, because in the reviews, though, you can't
- 58:28Speaker 2: write back. No, you can't. You can't write back and go, hey, girl,
- 58:32Speaker 2: there's about eight... million other podcasts you can listen to
- 58:36Speaker 2: so why don't you just go find out like you're
- 58:38Speaker 2: so angry.
- 58:38Speaker 3: All the positive ones are bots and then someone will
- 58:40Speaker 3: be like all the negative ones are bots and then
- 58:42Speaker 3: they're fighting with each other it's quite entertaining it's like
- 58:44Speaker 3: Elisa Roan like.
- 58:45Speaker 2: Woof I'm so angry so angry oh my gosh let
- 58:53Speaker 2: me see if there's anything else oh here's a sometimes
- 58:57Speaker 2: I hate these so if you hate it just say
- 58:58Speaker 2: I hate you but it was a Mary fuck kill
- 59:01Speaker 2: are you down or no I mean, I've done it before.
- 59:04Speaker 2: It's Luke, Kyle, and Carl. Oh, gosh.
- 59:08Speaker 3: I've done this before.
- 59:08Speaker 2: I don't like the kill. so I like to just say, like...
- 59:12Speaker 2: Put down. Yeah. Like, put on mute forever or something.
- 59:15Speaker 2: Put on mute forever. Yeah.
- 59:17Speaker 3: You know what? I would... What's in it?
- 59:22Speaker 5: I would.
- 59:26Speaker 2: I know they're always so hard, but you've got to
- 59:27Speaker 2: just think of it logically.
- 59:28Speaker 3: Oh, you're going to have this on in the back? Yes.
- 59:31Speaker 2: Wow, you guys are– I just have a beautiful photo
- 59:34Speaker 2: of you guys cutting the cake. No, I know that
- 59:37Speaker 2: this game is awful.
- 59:38Speaker 3: I'm going– I mean, I love them all. I'm going
- 59:40Speaker 3: to– I'm going.
- 59:43Speaker 2: To– Who's the richest?
- 59:46Speaker 3: Okay.
- 59:47Speaker 2: Of Luke, Kyle, and Carl, who is the wealthiest?
- 59:50Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 59:50Speaker 2: Who has generational wealth?
- 59:52Speaker 3: I don't think– I mean, Kyle does ski. So let's
- 59:56Speaker 3: marry Kyle.
- 59:57Speaker 2: Okay.
- 59:58Speaker 3: And then Carl's tall. Okay. So we'll have sex with him.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Yeah, that's good.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: And we will just put Luke on mute because he's
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: better to look at than hear from.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: I think that's a great choice. Also, can I just say,
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: if I was friends back in the day with Kyle,
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: I would have told him, name your drink, Summer Boy.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: I love it.
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: You just dropped the mic on that.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: First of all, Loverboy is doing amazing. Okay? It is
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: doing amazing. But just think how much better it would
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: have done just Summerboy.
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: Well, there's a Hamptons rosé called Hamptons Water, which I
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: think is very smart.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: It could even be like Summerwater. Yeah.
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: Look at us.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: Just marketing execs over here.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: And... And then Carl still, like, stocks the shelves or
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: whatever of Loverboy.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: What does he do?
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: What's his job?
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: I'm not a part of this. I do not know
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: what's going on in the office.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: All right. Okay. Well, I think we had a lot
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: of fun here.
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: This was so much fun. I loved talking.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: Snacks with you. What's your deal? Are you ready to
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: have babies? What's happening? Oh. Do you have a plan?
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: I have some shows coming up first. I'm going to
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: be in... Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee. Oh, fun.
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: That's where my mom went to college. University of Wisconsin
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: at Madison.
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: That's where I went to college. I'm a badger.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: Get the fuck out.
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: Cool badgers. Cheese curds.
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: Were you in a sorority?
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: I was on the tennis team.
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: Oh, okay. Anyway, my mom was a badger beauty. I'm
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: sure they stopped it because it's like only about being
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: pretty and stuff.
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: So she was hot.
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: And pretty people can't work anymore. So... She was a badger.
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: That's our problem.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: Really, truly. So she was a badger beauty and military
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: ball queen the same year.
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: She must have been a badass because getting to Wisconsin
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: was hard.
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: Well, she had to leave Marquette because she did the
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: original reality show. It was like this weird little cable show.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: And she did the longest kiss and they went away
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: for a commercial break. And the Jesuit priest put her
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: on social probation. And her dad was like, fuck this.
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: So she's an icon.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: So go to University of Wisconsin.
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: Hell yeah, go Badgers! I mean, it's such a great school.
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: Are your boys interested at all in going?
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: I don't think they can handle cold weather. They're born
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: and raised here. So like, you know, listen.
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: You're like, no one's there.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: Southern California kids can't. They think Boston's a weekend in Mammoth.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: It's like. You know what I mean? I mean, I
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: wouldn't discourage it. Yeah.
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: It's a fun sports party school.
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: But I just know it's very hard for like.
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: It'll be a culture shock.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: But I just went because I did get a scholarship.
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: So that's why I went. I didn't know where Wisconsin was.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: How do you play tennis when it's so cold?
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: Indoors.
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: Oh. Indoors.
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: They have a beautiful indoor facility.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: They were great with sports. And everyone has a liquid
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: layer of alcohol pretty much all the time. So it's
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: so much fun.
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: But it was a culture shock for me, too, coming
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: from Brooklyn. Everyone thought I was, like, exotic because I'm
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: half Italian and Jewish.
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: Would you drink beer with pretzels and mustard?
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: Oh, a thousand percent. Have you had the Bloody Marys
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: that have, like, a full hen in it?
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: No.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: What do you mean a hen? Like a piece of chicken? Oh,
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: my God.
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: Can you Google Bloody Mary in Wisconsin?
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: I mean, I do like it when it's, like, a
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: salad coming out of a Bloody Mary, like.
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: A small meal. The Bloody Mary is just a vehicle
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: for what's in it. Like, they have cheese curds and
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: a cheeseburger. Like, it's insane.
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: Oh, how cute.
- 1:03:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: I mean, cute. You'll have diarrhea like forever. Yeah.
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: Bloody Mary is a meal. You don't need to get
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: brunch with Bloody Mary. Oh, my God. That's crazy. It's
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: a full-blown chicken. I've never. Just a corn and Ganesh.
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: Corn and Ganesh.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: I've never even finished a normal Bloody Mary. I have
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: two sips and I'm like, I'm full. That's enough.
- 1:03:42Speaker 5: I know.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: You got to have that instead of a brunch. If
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: you're going to do brunch, you got to stick with
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: just like champagne.
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: I have a question for you.
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: So as someone who is green in the comedy field
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: and I want to try to have a long career
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: in this business and you have been killing it.
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: When should I have babies?
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: Well, I think what's really great is, I mean, I
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: think it's the best time ever for female comics and
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: there's so many like young moms and stuff. It definitely was.
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: Which was good is that my material, I was like
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: the only one doing it. Like talking about like being
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: a mom and married. It seemed like there were a
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: lot of people who were divorced or single or gay
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: or whatever. But I like had a traditional life. And
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: so that was very relatable. Yeah. I would definitely never
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: make that a reason why you don't get pregnant. Yeah.
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: I feel like you figure it out.
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: Because everything works out and there's always new stuff. And
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: as long as like you're talented and fun and so
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: like enjoy that time and– Whatever deal you want to
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: work out as far as, like, how often you go
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: on the road or what is fine. I mean, I did...
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: My kids did... I do have a lot of guilt
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: about my Chelsea Lately days and when they were in
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: elementary school and, like, how much, like, poetry readings and
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: shit like that I missed. But now that they're older
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: and I've had so much work.
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: I love how the only thing you could come up
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: with was poetry readings.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: I just really had... I'm really sad about it.
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: Like, I.
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: But, like....
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: But Chelsea Lately made me happy. Yes, yes. If that
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: makes you feel better.
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: It wasn't so much Chelsea Lately. It was that and
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: then also the opportunities to go on the road. Like
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: I had to do it then. But I didn't go
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: every weekend. Like I made sure. I couldn't go every
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: weekend because of the TV show. But I wouldn't change
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: any of that. It all works out. But what I
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: am grateful for is that I didn't. You know, a
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: lot of people do it the opposite. They stay home
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: when they're little and then come when they're like nine,
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: they like go on their career and whatever because the
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: kid can like, you know, take a shower by themselves.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: I kind of did the opposite. And I having so
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: much more freedom and time with my kids these last
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: seven years. I mean, I think they're the more important years. Yeah.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: So like if you can.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: Now they're like besties.
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: Yeah. Like my kids don't. They don't. like I'm sad
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: that like I'm like oh I don't remember I don't
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: remember those baby times as much you know what I
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: mean and like all of that but then also it
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: was so exhausting so to go to a hotel and
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: be able to like be alone and like sleep till
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: 12 and have people say that they like love me
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: I mean I did love it and my husband was
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: always great he never was like don't take a gig
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: or anything like that he never was like resentful or
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: anything like that and so it's like um I think,
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: you know, and there's, so I just, so my advice
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: to you is, I mean, you have the husband, you're 30, right?
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: I mean, I wouldn't fuck around. Or fuck around. Fuck
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: around with your husband. But I mean, I would like
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: get on it.
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: Do you know I took plan B the next morning
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: of my wedding?
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: Oh, because you had a big gig?
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I had a weekend coming up in Milwaukee. I
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: forgot to take my birth control during my wedding week.
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: I was just so out of it. And then we
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: had sex, and the next morning I was spotting, and
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: I was like, oh, I'm going to get pregnant. And
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: then I was like, do you want to have a baby?
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: And he was like, I want to travel a little more.
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: And I'm like, okay, take me to CVS. So that
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: was romantic. That was our honeymoon.
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: Yes. Yes.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: Well, I mean, great that we have those things.
- 1:07:23Speaker 5: But I do.
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: I never was the girl who was like, I can't
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: wait to be a mom. I can't wait to get married.
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: But I'm not into it. I actually love kids and
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: I can't wait to have them. I just feel like
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: once I have them, I'm going to be so obsessed
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: with them.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: And.
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: But that'll... That'll enhance my life.
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: You won't though because it's like I definitely think this,
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: you know, women today too, you can find a way
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: to balance it. You're always going to have more guilt
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: than your husband. It's never going to be the same.
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: He's never going to be as sad about leaving as
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: you are. You will have like that anxious anxiety like
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: being away from your kids.
- 1:07:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: But like, yes, I would definitely.
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: I've dealt with self-hate my whole life.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: But I definitely think, definitely think like, you know, go
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: for it and do it and... It'll just work out.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: But you should not push it off. These are your
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: fertile years. And if you get pregnant easily and naturally,
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: that's much nicer than– I mean, try– listen. it's hard
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: enough to schedule a standup gig and to make sure
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: like the sitters there or whatever. But if you have
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: to also schedule around getting shots and injections and not
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: your face, but like, you know, like that, that you
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: probably know people going, it's a lot, that's a lot
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: of scheduling besides the money. It's that's a lot more
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: on your hormones. I mean, so like you probably need
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: to spend, you know, maybe like any year or two
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: is what I'd say, like go off of it. Try
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: to get pregnant for those next couple of years. And
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: then if it is a problem, then you still are
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: young enough that like it's not that big of a
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: deal if you if you need extra help.
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: I grew up in the toxic generation was like women
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: can have it all without having like an understanding of
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: like but it's hard but yeah but seeing you out
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: there like killing it and have the family and the
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: husband it's beautiful to watch and inspirational honestly so so sweet.
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: Well it's kind of interesting because i noticed like a
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: lot of girls in tiktok It's like flexing if you
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: don't work. Have you seen that?
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: Sugar daddies?
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: No, there's sugar daddies, sugar babies, but then there's a
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: sugar wife. Yeah. That's like bragging, like, what do I do?
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: I'm married well. Yeah, be fucking jealous and all this.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: And I'm like, that's fine. But it's like, to me,
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: it's a little bit, wow, because... Like my mom was
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: so worked so hard to like have a career and tell,
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: you know, have your education. No one can take that
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: away from you. And let me just tell you something.
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: It's way more satisfying to get an accolade about your
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: work or what you created. Then you gave a really
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: good blow job and high on tick tock. I got
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: a free Chanel bag. That looks exactly the same if
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: I got a fake one for $ 200 and no one's
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: going to know the fucking difference.
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: I love your TikTok algorithm, but that's what you're seeing also.
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: Oh, I see such weird, like, it's so funny because
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: I'll say to my kids, did you see this? And
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: they're like, no, mom. We're not seeing what you're seeing. Like,
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: I don't see anyone dancing. I just see like juicy
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: fucking stories and like hookers like bragging.
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: How much money they made the night before.
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: Yes. Like, but I'm just, like, kind of like, hey,
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: I get it. Like, that's a sign of feminism, too. Like, whatever.
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: It is. But it's not long-lasting.
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: Being home alone with my own thoughts and no work
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: is hell for me. That's hell on earth for me.
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: And I've always been a workaholic to run from whatever
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: I'm running from. And my self-worth has always come from, like,
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: trying to accomplish something.
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: Well, what's funny is, like, the reason the moms went
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: and all got these second, these careers, you know, like,
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: In like the 80s and we're like the latchkey kids
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: era is because they saw their friends be dumped. And
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: not know how to take care of themselves after 15
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: years of marriage. So then all these women were like, no,
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: you've got to get a career going so that you're
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: not fucked. And now to see it all happening again,
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: where women are like, fuck this, thanks. I want to
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: go back to being a 1950s housewife and just make
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: a chicken all day.
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: They were pretending they were dumb and couldn't do anything.
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: And that was the smartest thing they've ever done. Yeah,
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: so now let me be that.
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: But I would say... No, not great. Because, like, you know,
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: you're going to get in the same thing of, like,
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: being trapped and not having a career or being with
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: someone you don't like or whatever.
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: Being trapped in a relationship is way worse than being single.
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: But I don't think you should be apologetic if you
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: have the luxury of being a stay-at-home mom.
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: Oh, for sure.
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: I think that's wonderful. Like, wonderful.
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: If one person makes all the money. If it's a choice,
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: that's great. If you feel like you're stuck, that's another. Yeah.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: But I also would say be a little careful about that, too. Like,
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: don't get too... Also because it's really hard to get
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: back into the workforce if you wait too long.
- 1:11:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: Like if you don't work for 17 years.
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: I don't like feeling indebted to anyone at all.
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: I want to give blowjobs when I want to. Exactly.
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: But if you get paid for them, you're probably smarter.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: Oh, a couple things I want to ask you. Yes.
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: You mentioned being a boss, boss girl, boss bitch. Can
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: I just say, like, it's very annoying when women say
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: that and they have no employees.
- 1:12:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: How can you be a boss? I have employees. No,
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: I don't like saying boss bitch.
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: But why do women say that? Like, be a boss,
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: boss bitch. And I'm like, but you're just, you're just
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: like a, you're just an entrepreneur, like without any employees. Like,
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: I feel like if you're a boss bitch, you should
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: be like Joan Crawford with a hat on. Like, don't
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: fuck with me. I was like, you should.
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: Have like a lot of, sell the, sell the stocks.
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: And then also like, why is that? empowering to say
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: you're a bitch. You're a bitch to work for?
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: I don't think I've ever said boss bitch. I think
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: that term is too... Not you.
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: I'm saying in general people being like, boss bitch babe.
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: The whole boss bitch and that power woman, people are
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: going against it now because.
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: Because I thought we're supposed to empower the employees and
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: have them not quit.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: Well, maybe they're quitting because you're like, I'm a boss bitch.
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: And also just making it like, oh, if you're a
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: successful women, you have to be like running CEO companies
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: and it's like, let's normalize happiness first.
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:13:16Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: I agree with that.
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: That's kind of leaning. My thing is I, I might've
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: said that kind of thing because I am not great
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: at having bosses.
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: And not that I'm like fight the man all the time,
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: but like, I'm always that like weird creative kid who
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: just starts like doing her own thing and like ADHD.
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: And that's been good for me in like a creative place,
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: but not a nine to five.
- 1:13:33Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: Um, like, I would always have like new ideas and
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: think I was trying to change the world. And they're like,
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: you don't work here. So, so I've been fired from
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: multiple jobs and I've also like outgrown certain jobs, like,
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: like betches. I got summer house and I started my
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: own podcast and I kind of outgrew it. And I've,
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: I've liked being like a leader and just being creative
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: and nine to five wasn't, I mean, I've done the
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: cold calling sales, like the marketing I've, sold t-shirts.
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: I've tried that stuff and it wasn't my calling.
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: Right. Yeah. Well, good. I'm excited for your future. I'm
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: excited for Madison, Wisconsin.
