- 0:00I'm Christina and I'm t, and this is the Pretty and Pink Again podcast for Motherhood Meets Rediscovery.
- 0:16Hello.
- 0:17Happy Thanksgiving.
- 0:18Happy Thanksgiving.
- 0:21Oh my goodness.
- 0:21It's our first holiday season as Pippa's.
- 0:23We started our podcast in February, actually on Valentine's.
- 0:27It was like right around Valentine's Day.
- 0:28It was, but it was just so crazy.
- 0:29Right around last year at this exact time.
- 0:32That this whole thing was manifested and was brewing.
- 0:35Mm-hmm.
- 0:36I know, it's wild.
- 0:37It really is.
- 0:38Because I vividly remember sitting across from you.
- 0:42It was at the Sabrina Carpenter concert, and we went out for.
- 0:47A little dirty martini.
- 0:487:00 PM drinks.
- 0:49Yeah.
- 0:507:00 PM I know.
- 0:51In bed by 10.
- 0:51I know.
- 0:52And we started talking about this.
- 0:54Mm-hmm.
- 0:54And so that was, either in September or October.
- 0:57That was like our first conversation and then we started to have meetings about this Yeah.
- 1:01Around the holiday season.
- 1:02So I vividly yeah.
- 1:03I have the holidays in my head.
- 1:06So much and I feel like it's been bringing back a lot of like nostalgia about starting this with you.
- 1:11Right.
- 1:11And so it's crazy that we're here.
- 1:13It feels like this is almost like approaching the year.
- 1:15Which is amazing.
- 1:16So Thanksgiving is about gratitude and what you're thankful for.
- 1:19And I want us to both share professionally what we're thankful for and personally what we're thankful for.
- 1:26Oh, I love that this year.
- 1:27Because this is our profession.
- 1:29Yes.
- 1:29This is one of your professions.
- 1:30Yes.
- 1:31And.
- 1:32I wanted us to just share that with our listeners.
- 1:34I know what we're thankful for.
- 1:36What would you go first?
- 1:37What?
- 1:38Let's start, do we wanna start professionally?
- 1:40Sure.
- 1:41We live in a small town.
- 1:42When you live in a small town, you get to see some of the same people.
- 1:46And even though I'm a nobody, I'm a somebody because we live in a small town.
- 1:51Yeah.
- 1:51And lately I've been running into people, listeners at the hair salon, the nail salon, CVS, bounce town, wherever the hell I am.
- 1:59And they overhear my voice and they say, I'm a young mom and I listen to your podcast.
- 2:05And it means so much to me.
- 2:06And it's always like the young moms, like the ones that have a one or a 2-year-old.
- 2:10Yeah.
- 2:10And this girl said to me the other day, we were getting our hair washed at Sam, so if you're listening now you know who you are.
- 2:16And she was like.
- 2:17Are you tea?
- 2:18And I said, yeah.
- 2:18Why?
- 2:19She was like, I listen to your podcast every week.
- 2:21I love listening to you and Christina thank you for doing this.
- 2:24So I'm grateful because I've been able to just share my life honestly with you.
- 2:30Mm-hmm.
- 2:31And with our listeners.
- 2:31Mm-hmm.
- 2:32And have other people who have had.
- 2:34Spiraling thoughts or ruminating thoughts.
- 2:37I've been able to maybe validate some of those.
- 2:39Yeah.
- 2:39Or just share that.
- 2:40Like you're not alone.
- 2:41Yep.
- 2:41So I am grateful for that opportunity this year.
- 2:44I am.
- 2:45So it makes me like so teary and I'm obviously gonna piggyback off of that be because I totally agree.
- 2:52I feel like this podcast, I've been in this space, I've said this for 15 years.
- 2:59Yeah.
- 2:59And I'm new here.
- 3:00You are not.
- 3:01Yeah.
- 3:01But I'm new here, if that makes sense.
- 3:03Yeah.
- 3:03So I'm new here with you because what I shared was so much different back then, and it's evolved so much over the years and I really felt like if you asked me a year ago, I really didn't know the direction of anything in my life.
- 3:20Like I, I knew, obviously I had come into this role as a mom.
- 3:25I.
- 3:26I knew that I had been a content creator.
- 3:29I didn't even know if I wanted to still be one.
- 3:31I was struggling so much with my identity and what I liked and what brought me joy and things like outside of my household.
- 3:38Like I knew, like in my household what was making me happy, but it was like I needed more than that and I felt shame even admitting that I needed more than that.
- 3:47And shame is probably one of the worst feelings you can have, and I felt so lost.
- 3:52And I wasn't even sure what I wanted to do.
- 3:54I literally spent a big chunk of my year at the beginning of the year being like, what else do I wanna do with my life?
- 4:03I almost felt like I was at a crossroads with my career.
- 4:06What do I wanna do?
- 4:07Do I even wanna stay in this space anymore?
- 4:08Because we had talked at length so much about you have to love what you're doing.
- 4:13You have to love what you do.
- 4:15You have to love being here.
- 4:16You have to love showing up.
- 4:18And I felt like at that time I wasn't loving anything.
- 4:21It's just, it was, and it was a me thing.
- 4:24It wasn't a community thing.
- 4:25It was just hard for me to show up as the best version of myself when I was struggling so much.
- 4:30Yeah.
- 4:30You didn't, you weren't sure what yourself was anymore.
- 4:33You weren't.
- 4:33So how can you show up as the best version of yourself when No, you're questioning yourself?
- 4:37No, and honestly, I think if I didn't, I.
- 4:42Have part in starting this podcast that I probably would've quit being a content creator.
- 4:48I really do, because I felt like I needed so much more.
- 4:51I needed connection.
- 4:53I was craving, like seeing people every day.
- 4:55I needed to get outta my house.
- 4:57I needed to do, I needed a routine.
- 4:59You needed a hug.
- 4:59I needed a hug.
- 5:00I needed, I just needed so much more than being behind a screen and I was blaming, being behind the screen.
- 5:10And we had this idea to start the podcast and I was like, I need a passion project again, because it brought me back to starting my blog.
- 5:19Mm-hmm.
- 5:19And my career as a content creator.
- 5:21And I needed that passion project.
- 5:23And I ended up with you rebuilding a community that ended up.
- 5:31Resparking my own business and my side of things as well.
- 5:36So this was like a double.
- 5:38Like a beautiful like double thing.
- 5:40I don't know what the word I'm looking for is, but it like, it helped us create a new business and it helped me revive the love for my own business.
- 5:49And like it revived my business in turn and also created such a beautiful community of people that follow Pippa, but then follow both of us.
- 5:58Mm-hmm.
- 5:58And I just feel like we have built like such a wonderful group of people and I feel the same way.
- 6:03Like I'm having people come up to me now and they're not like, oh, I follow Christina Reishi on Instagram.
- 6:09They're like, I know you from Pippa.
- 6:11I am listen to you.
- 6:12They follow, followed you from Christina Te she but didn't really know you.
- 6:16Yes.
- 6:16And now they know you and I, so I, we were away.
- 6:19When Raja and I took a trip, like people were coming up to me and saying I listened to your podcast.
- 6:24Oh, that's so cool.
- 6:25And like I, that was just to me, I know we made the right choice.
- 6:29Yeah.
- 6:29Obviously for so many reasons.
- 6:30But we've created such a beautiful community of people.
- 6:33I hope we can do so much more with that.
- 6:36I feel like we're just at the beginning, I really do.
- 6:38So professionally obviously I feel, what about personal?
- 6:42What are you grateful for this year?
- 6:44Personally?
- 6:45I have a lot to be grateful for.
- 6:47I think that my nuclear family is growing.
- 6:52And I know we just did an episode last week about how the six of us like create chaos.
- 6:58Yeah.
- 6:58And how, I know when we're together it is pure chaos.
- 7:02But since we're on the holiday season, I was looking back at all of the family photos that everybody hates taking.
- 7:08Yeah, of course.
- 7:08But I've just been looking at how fast every time is everybody is growing and how fast time is going.
- 7:16And I am just very grateful that I still have this like small nuclear family.
- 7:21That everybody is home.
- 7:23And everybody is tight and that's mostly what I'm grateful for.
- 7:26I love that is my nuclear family.
- 7:28I love that.
- 7:28Yeah.
- 7:28I love that so much.
- 7:29Mine is going to be a shout out to my husband because I feel like parenthood has rocked us and I'm sure it rocks everybody.
- 7:39But we've been together for 15 years before we had Leo.
- 7:43And so I really thought that we were, we got this right like this, it's, it can't rock us'cause we have so much foundation under us and it really still did.
- 7:53And we've talked really the last couple of months just now that we're coming up for air, just about how I don't think that either one of us expected it to rock us as hard as it did because you were so solid.
- 8:04'cause we were so solid and we had been together and we'd gone through so much together.
- 8:08And so we really, I don't wanna say we were cocky going into it, but we really just didn't think that it was gonna be as big of a deal as it ended up being.
- 8:16And I'm sure a lot of people can relate to that.
- 8:18And I'm just grateful that he not only stuck by me through the hardest year of my entire life, but was really just.
- 8:28A huge support and kind of just a I'm not going anywhere type of energy for me.
- 8:35And it just allowed me to grow and find myself outside of obviously like our marriage and outside of our house.
- 8:43Like he knew how important it was for me to have an identity outside of those things.
- 8:48And was like comfortable with that and knew that it wasn't a threat to him, it was just that.
- 8:54She needs this for herself.
- 8:55Yeah.
- 8:55And was like encouraging and held down the fort while I was off, building two separate businesses back up.
- 9:03And I'm just really appreciative of that.
- 9:05And I'm so grateful obviously for him and then the family we've been able to create because of that.
- 9:11Yeah.
- 9:11So that's so special.
- 9:13Yeah.
- 9:14We gotta give.
- 9:15Gotta give a love.
- 9:16Gotta give the love.
- 9:17I know.
- 9:17You have to choose your, you have to choose your spouse.
- 9:20You chose each other way back when.
- 9:21But you have to continue to choose your spouse.
- 9:24It's true now.
- 9:25Yep.
- 9:25On Friday night, Nick and I were gonna go out to dinner with friends.
- 9:27We were like all teed up and ready to go dressed and ready to go with a group of friends and I.
- 9:32And we hadn't been talking at all during the week.
- 9:34'cause it was such a stressful week.
- 9:36And just so much was going on.
- 9:38The kids were acting up, we were at each other's throats and the two of us canceled on our friends.
- 9:43And we went to Maximas, sat at the bar you just needed at the time.
- 9:45And we had a date night, just the two of us.
- 9:47And I felt bad like canceling because I don't love to do that.
- 9:51That's but that's what you needed.
- 9:52But I just felt bad for a second.
- 9:53And then I said to him like, I'm so happy we chose each other.
- 9:56Yes.
- 9:56Because, yes, that is so important.
- 9:58And then we went into the rest of the weekend better because we chose each other.
- 10:02I'll piggyback on that too, that I'm grateful Yes.
- 10:05That Nick and I still choose each other.
- 10:07Yep.
- 10:07You have to.
- 10:08And I love that you said that you have to choose each other every single day.
- 10:11Really?
- 10:12It's really hard.
- 10:13Some days are easier than others.
- 10:14Yep.
- 10:15But.
- 10:16Anyways, so happy Thanksgiving.
- 10:18Happy Thanksgiving.
- 10:19We're not gonna do a pink spotlight today, but we, you're our pink spotlight.
- 10:23Yes.
- 10:23You guys are our pink spotlight.
- 10:24We just love you so much.
- 10:26We're so grateful for you Continue to share the love.
- 10:29We are so appreciative.
- 10:31I feel like this podcast is growing because of you guys.
- 10:34Like you guys are sharing our reels, you're sharing us with your friends.
- 10:38Yeah.
- 10:38And this is growing.
- 10:39I, I am such a huge believer that like the best things grow slow and steady.
- 10:44And this is like another example of this is growing organically, slow and steady.
- 10:49We have such a wonderful group.
- 10:51Everybody is so intentional with wanting to be here and be part of this community.
- 10:55And we're just so grateful and we hope that.
- 10:59All things will continue to build for all of us.
- 11:01We hope we could have events later on.
- 11:04We're gonna be, we're gonna celebrating.
- 11:05We're the one year of us and we're gonna have giveaways.
- 11:08There's just gonna be so much coming up and so we're just so grateful and we love y'all so much and so we appreciate that so much.
- 11:16Yes.
- 11:17We will see you all in December.
- 11:18Yes.
- 11:19Happy Thanksgiving.
- 11:21Bye.
- 11:21Enjoy the crazy holiday weekend.
- 11:24Bye bye.
