• 1:51
Speaker 5: of stuff in the community as well. That's what we're
• 1:54
Speaker 5: going to focus on with those folks, with John and
• 1:58
Speaker 5: Company coming up a little bit later on. Also are
• 2:00
Speaker 5: a good friend. Millie Snyder is here as well. But
• 2:02
Speaker 5: before we get to that, I want to bring to
• 2:04
Speaker 5: Jeff Jenkins from the newsroom. Jeff, good morning. I know
• 2:07
Speaker 5: the news department has been and everybody has been closely
• 2:10
Speaker 5: watching this court case, this horrific case that happened in Cistonville.
• 2:17
Speaker 5: Day two of the trial is coming up to where are.
• 2:20
Speaker 6: We Yeah, so prosecution is presenting this case. This is
• 2:23
Speaker 6: the Genie White Feather Donald Lance trial and that's a
• 2:26
Speaker 6: Sistanville couple and they were arrested back in twenty thirteen
• 2:30
Speaker 6: when there was a wellness check that was called in
• 2:34
Speaker 6: and deputies found two of their adopted kids in a
• 2:38
Speaker 6: shed that allegedly was locked. The White Feather and Lance
• 2:45
Speaker 6: they disagree with that, and then there's been a lot
• 2:49
Speaker 6: of investigation since then about their history. They lived in
• 2:52
Speaker 6: the state of Washington and about how they adopted the
• 2:55
Speaker 6: kids who The allegations are that they adopted the kids
• 2:57
Speaker 6: for these are black children, opted them for human trafficking,
• 3:02
Speaker 6: different things. That's the allegation. Now the defense says that
• 3:08
Speaker 6: there's some explanation for some of this. There were these
• 3:11
Speaker 6: children had passed, you know, problems before they were adopted
• 3:16
Speaker 6: and Lance in White Feather struggled to you know, to
• 3:21
Speaker 6: help them. I mean, they got them counseling in different things,
• 3:23
Speaker 6: but they there was a there was a pretty consistent
• 3:26
Speaker 6: struggle in in how to help them. Now, there was
• 3:29
Speaker 6: testimony yesterday from about a half dozen neighbors out there
• 3:33
Speaker 6: in the sistem Of area who say, who testify for
• 3:35
Speaker 6: what they saw. They There was one who testified who
• 3:39
Speaker 6: said what they saw looked like children following orders. Another
• 3:44
Speaker 6: testified that these children never played. They were dressed in
• 3:48
Speaker 6: the same clothes, you know, you know, in just almost
• 3:52
Speaker 6: like it was slavery or you know, something of that nature,
• 3:56
Speaker 6: some kind of forced labor. So right now it's the
• 4:01
Speaker 6: beginning of the trials. You had opening statements, so each
• 4:03
Speaker 6: kind of laid out their case, and the prosecution is
• 4:06
Speaker 6: calling witnesses. So basically you're getting this is the prosecution story.
• 4:09
Speaker 6: So these are the prosecution witnesses. So these are the ones.
• 4:12
Speaker 6: So it's going to sound very heavy, heavily that this happened.
• 4:16
Speaker 6: Then the defense will have an opportunity to present its case.
• 4:19
Speaker 6: So this is this is going to last maybe as
• 4:22
Speaker 6: long as a couple of weeks. It's possible we're in
• 4:25
Speaker 6: the courtroom both morning and afternoon. We're staffing it with
• 4:28
Speaker 6: two reporters, one in the morning, one in the afternoons.
• 4:30
Speaker 6: You'll be hearing sound from that throughout the day and
• 4:34
Speaker 6: the following morning from the sound from the afternoon and
• 4:36
Speaker 6: the day before. So we'll continue to follow that big
• 4:39
Speaker 6: trial in front of Judge Mary Clareakers and twelve member jury,
• 4:44
Speaker 6: and so we'll continue to update it throughout the you know,
• 4:46
Speaker 6: throughout however long the trial lasts.
• 4:48
Speaker 5: All right, and I think you're going to make an
• 4:50
Speaker 5: appearance on talk line later today. Possibly play a little
• 4:53
Speaker 5: audio yeah from the court room, YESTERD Jeff. I appreciate
• 4:56
Speaker 5: you being here, man, Thanks a loud. We'll talk again tomorrow.
• 4:58
Speaker 5: It is nine twelve Island Chilling five Idyline brought to
• 5:01

• 5:03

• 5:07
  Speaker 5: dot com.
• 5:08
Speaker 3: Look he's here. It's Millie Snyder. How are you, Milly?
• 5:10
Speaker 7: I'm wonderful. How are you?
• 5:11
Speaker 3: They like in all this weather, this win away?
• 5:13
Speaker 7: I like it and I want to make a public statement. Okay,
• 5:15
Speaker 7: I am relinquishing my seven day free trials to live
• 5:19
Speaker 7: in Alaska. Don't want it, you're out. I have it
• 5:22
Speaker 7: right here in Charleston, West Virginia.
• 5:24
Speaker 5: You know, they tell us that next week we could
• 5:28
Speaker 5: see the coldest, second or third coldest temperatures in the history.
• 5:31
Speaker 5: What numbers are you, Charleston, West Virginia number. Well, we're
• 5:35
Speaker 5: talking about wind chill next week. We're talking about well
• 5:38
Speaker 5: below zero, well below zero next week. That's what brain.
• 5:42
Speaker 7: What worries me is that word well well below.
• 5:46
Speaker 5: I mean we're looking at like high temperature on Monday,
• 5:49
Speaker 5: seventeen seventeen, on Tuesday, and then this is next week, Wednesday,
• 5:54
Speaker 5: twenty six. But the big deal will be early morning,
• 5:56
Speaker 5: where it's going to be around seven degrees three degree
• 6:00
Speaker 5: six degrees, but the windshiel well below well well below zero.
• 6:04
Speaker 7: And contrary to what some people said, now that I retired,
• 6:07
Speaker 7: I'm going to go to Florida. Not You're still here
• 6:10
Speaker 7: to stay here and keep warm. That's the answer, all right.
• 6:13
Speaker 5: So you know, the thing about the weather is merely
• 6:15
Speaker 5: there's not a whole lot you can do about it.
• 6:17
Speaker 7: This is true, and I believe, I don't know, some
• 6:20
Speaker 7: great statesmen said that years and years ago. You can
• 6:23
Speaker 7: talk about it, but there's not a thing you can
• 6:25
Speaker 7: do about it. And as soon as I think of
• 6:26
Speaker 7: his name, I will well.
• 6:27
Speaker 3: Is there somebody was it? I don't know, Will Rogers,
• 6:30
Speaker 3: Mark Twain one of.
• 6:30
Speaker 5: Those people that said something to the effect everybody talks
• 6:33
Speaker 5: about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.
• 6:35
Speaker 7: I know. And that's where I'm coming from.
• 6:37
Speaker 5: So it'll be warm before we know it. We'll be
• 6:40
Speaker 5: out and about, we'll be at Regatto, we'll be at
• 6:42
Speaker 5: the ballpark, we'll be doing all.
• 6:43
Speaker 7: Then you give me an idea of when that's well,
• 6:46
Speaker 7: I will tell you.
• 6:47
Speaker 5: They say, the weather people say that February is possibly
• 6:53
Speaker 5: going to be much much warmer than normal. That's what
• 6:56
Speaker 5: they're saying. And I heard one of the weather people,
• 7:00
Speaker 5: I think it was Brandon Stover this morning on CHS
• 7:02
Speaker 5: Fox eleven, said he referred to next week as the
• 7:05
Speaker 5: grand finale. Now, I think that may be a little
• 7:08
Speaker 5: bit premature, but at least for a while, we'll take it.
• 7:10
Speaker 5: Because we've had snow on the ground since like what
• 7:12
Speaker 5: August it seems like out here, and I'm just over it.
• 7:17
Speaker 5: I want to wear regular shoes again. I want to,
• 7:20
Speaker 5: you know, not walk having to hold onto a building.
• 7:22
Speaker 5: You know at my advanced age, I got to watch
• 7:25
  Speaker 5: this stuff.
• 7:26
Speaker 7: Well, yeah, because you're getting older, I am getting older,
• 7:28
Speaker 7: So I just want to throw that in.
• 7:31
Speaker 3: A comment, right, So, what's snow with you?
• 7:33
Speaker 5: Well, house quota and I'm doing air quotes here. How
• 7:37
Speaker 5: is retirement coming for you? Because I will retirement.
• 7:41
Speaker 7: It's not bad, but it's not all that it's cracked
• 7:43
  Speaker 7: up to be.
• 7:44
Speaker 3: And I said that as joke, because you're never going
• 7:46
  Speaker 3: to retire.
• 7:46
Speaker 7: You're always doing some absolutely and some of the wonderful
• 7:49
Speaker 7: things that I'm doing, of course, are being here with you. Tomorrow,
• 7:53
Speaker 7: I'm going to teach my Mediterranean group and by the way,
• 7:57
Speaker 7: our social media is down right now. By we're going
• 8:00
Speaker 7: to get that resurrected where we talk about Mediterranean. But
• 8:04
Speaker 7: I just want people to know that there isn't a
• 8:06
Speaker 7: finer way to eat. It's not about dieting, and the
• 8:11
Speaker 7: Mediterranean concept has been around for centuries. I believe that
• 8:17
Speaker 7: Jesus and the disciples ate that way because as far
• 8:19
Speaker 7: as I know, they didn't have a particular supermarket to
• 8:22
Speaker 7: go to. They ate fresh, clean food and that's what
• 8:27
Speaker 7: Mediterranean is based on, food without chemicals, without preservatives, and
• 8:33
Speaker 7: eating foods that have nothing in them except the item
• 8:38
Speaker 7: that you're enjoying, and teaching people how to eat that way.
• 8:42
Speaker 7: One of the discoveries is they eat better than they've
• 8:45
Speaker 7: ever eaten. And that's what I want to help people.
• 8:48
Speaker 7: Do you know? Right now and for the past several months,
• 8:52
Speaker 7: maybe even a year, dieting is caught up again in
• 8:57
Speaker 7: an artificial honeymoon, if you will, for the lack of
• 9:01
Speaker 7: a better word, thinking that there is a great answer
• 9:05
Speaker 7: to losing weight if you take drugs. Well, I can't
• 9:09
Speaker 7: tell you how many times in my professional life I've
• 9:12
Speaker 7: been down that road, not as a user, but as
• 9:16
Speaker 7: someone who was always speaking against that method. And we
• 9:20
Speaker 7: don't know the fallout, and the fallout is coming in pieces.
• 9:25
Speaker 7: In fact, this afternoon, I'm going to be listening and
• 9:28
Speaker 7: participating in a zoom call finding out about the downsides
• 9:32
Speaker 7: of this drug called segma glutide.
• 9:34
Speaker 3: Okay, and now that's a new one to me. I
• 9:36
Speaker 3: hadn't heard of that one.
• 9:37
Speaker 7: Well, that's the segma glutide is the ingredient GOV and
• 9:44
  Speaker 7: all those drugs.
• 9:45
Speaker 3: But these are so popular, very much so, my goodness.
• 9:49
Speaker 7: And who makes them popular the people because they hear
• 9:53
Speaker 7: the word weight loss, and all they care abouout doing
• 9:56
Speaker 7: any work. If you don't change your mind about your
• 9:59
Speaker 7: eating habits and you use a drug, only your body
• 10:04
Speaker 7: doesn't learn how to do an old thing differently.
• 10:06
Speaker 5: And never in the history of things has there ever
• 10:09
Speaker 5: been a drug that is going to offer long term
• 10:13
Speaker 5: health benefits when it comes to weight loss. I mean,
• 10:17
Speaker 5: you're going to drop some pounds, but at what cost?
• 10:21
Speaker 7: You know? I have shared this story with many people
• 10:24
Speaker 7: over the years, But when I was eleven years old,
• 10:28
Speaker 7: dragged by the hand, I went to my first bariatric
• 10:31
Speaker 7: doctor and at that age was taking forty nine diet
• 10:36
Speaker 7: pills a week and I was only eleven. So I
• 10:40
Speaker 7: lost some weight when I took the pills. But then
• 10:42
Speaker 7: when the money wasn't available to restock the pillbox, guess
• 10:47
Speaker 7: what happened. Not only did I gain that lost weight back,
• 10:51
Speaker 7: but I gained even more. And that became the story
• 10:54
Speaker 7: of my life until I became twenty four, turned twenty four,
• 11:01
Speaker 7: and finally, against my will, I joined weight watchers, and
• 11:05
Speaker 7: I really only joined to prove that it didn't work.
• 11:08
Speaker 3: Guess what it worked.
• 11:10
Speaker 7: Not only did it work, it made a career for you.
• 11:12
Speaker 7: It created a career, a new life, and albeit that,
• 11:16
Speaker 7: I am no longer the weight Watcher representative. And what
• 11:20
Speaker 7: a lot of people don't know is I teach Mediterranean
• 11:23
Speaker 7: now and I'm in year number eight because I started
• 11:27
Speaker 7: that concept in twenty sixteen by making it available here
• 11:31
  Speaker 7: in Charleston.
• 11:32
Speaker 5: All right, let's give me an average day on Mediterranean
• 11:36
Speaker 5: get take me breakfast, lunch, dinner. Now, this is not
• 11:40
Speaker 5: all you can eat, Okay, but I mean give me
• 11:42
Speaker 5: an average did what if I'm on the if I'm
• 11:45
Speaker 5: going on a Mediterranean plan, we don't call it diet
• 11:47
Speaker 5: Mediterranean plan? What would I eat for breakfast? What would
• 11:52
Speaker 5: I eat for lunch? What would ate for dinner? And
• 11:53
Speaker 5: maybe a snack in between? If there is such a thing.
• 11:56
Speaker 7: Oh, there are many, many such things. Ok And as
• 11:58
Speaker 7: an example, about two sunnyside up eggs in a little
• 12:03
Speaker 7: bit of olive oil in your pan, and alongside those eggs,
• 12:06
Speaker 7: have about some sliced tomatoes, and then two pieces or
• 12:10
Speaker 7: one piece, depending on your appetite, some whole grain bread.
• 12:15
Speaker 7: And one of the brands that occurs to me is
• 12:17
Speaker 7: Dave's Killer Bread. And I know you didn't have anything
• 12:20
  Speaker 7: to do.
• 12:20
Speaker 3: With it, it's not me.
• 12:22
Speaker 7: Lunch, we can have any number of vegetables, maybe one
• 12:25
Speaker 7: or two, and you can have a tuna, salmon, you
• 12:29
Speaker 7: could have any type of unprocessed cheese, and then also
• 12:34
Speaker 7: more bread. But you also if you don't want bread,
• 12:37
Speaker 7: you want to do something more filling. Did you know
• 12:42
Speaker 7: Maybe you didn't, But on the Mediterranean concept, potatoes are
• 12:47
Speaker 7: not considered anything other than a vegetable. And if you
• 12:51
Speaker 7: had a potato with whatever you're choosing with your lunch,
• 12:56
Speaker 7: and a fruit and maybe yogurt, and it can be
• 12:58
Speaker 7: a yogurt, just to label and make sure that it's
• 13:02
Speaker 7: not packed with added sugar. Sugar is not a friend,
• 13:06
Speaker 7: not just on Mediterranean. Sugar is not a friend to
• 13:09
Speaker 7: anyone's lifestyle. And then for the evening, it could be fish,
• 13:13
Speaker 7: it could be one two vegetables, it could be another potato,
• 13:17
Speaker 7: it could be whatever really tickles your fancy in terms
• 13:22
Speaker 7: of a nice meal, a big salad and oil and
• 13:26
Speaker 7: vinegar on that. And for the evening snack it could
• 13:29
Speaker 7: be fruit. During the day and you asked about a snack, yeah,
• 13:33
Speaker 7: how about a handful of nuts of your choosing, not
• 13:36
Speaker 7: any that no nuts that are chocolate covered of course,
• 13:40
Speaker 7: although I just wanted to throw that in because someone said, will.
• 13:42
  Speaker 3: Well about salt.
• 13:44
Speaker 7: Oh, you know, salt has never been the problem on anything,
• 13:48
Speaker 7: unless you yourself have a tendency to retain water. Okay,
• 13:54
Speaker 7: but still salt, like anything, should be used according to taste.
• 13:58
Speaker 7: Some people add salt before or they taste it. Yeah,
• 14:01
Speaker 7: And the next time I'm on the show, I'll tell
• 14:03
Speaker 7: you the JC Penny story, which is a wonderful thing
• 14:06
Speaker 7: and it relates to salt.
• 14:07
Speaker 3: All right, I got to get some You've got some
• 14:09
Speaker 3: text here waiting on you, girl.
• 14:10
Speaker 5: I do, yeah, Tex says. Tex says, I love fresh
• 14:13
Speaker 5: fruit and some veggies. But besides inconvenience and are constantly
• 14:17
Speaker 5: on the go daily lives. The true reality problem with
• 14:20
Speaker 5: healthy eating is the cost.
• 14:22
  Speaker 7: Well, there's a cost in everything. There's also a cost
• 14:27
Speaker 7: involved in having bad health, which is a result of
• 14:31
Speaker 7: carrying too much weight and eating incorrectly. And we have
• 14:34
Speaker 7: to be able to do some economy in our shopping.
• 14:39
Speaker 7: But we do not have to buy processed foods in
• 14:43
Speaker 7: order to be healthy. Now, you can do protein in
• 14:47
Speaker 7: other forms than meat, fish, and poultry. We can do
• 14:51
Speaker 7: that with any variety of beans, and we can certainly
• 14:55
Speaker 7: season them with buoyon products, broth products. There are many
• 14:59
Speaker 7: ways to make make a very filling meal. And also
• 15:02
Speaker 7: you could saute beans after they're softened that some people
• 15:05
Speaker 7: like to soak them overnight and then use them the
• 15:08
Speaker 7: next day. Some people open a can. If the can
• 15:11
Speaker 7: has the syrup in it, you want to drain that
• 15:13
Speaker 7: off and then you can saute that in a little
• 15:15
Speaker 7: bit of olive oil with some vegetables and you have
• 15:18
Speaker 7: your protein right there.
• 15:20
Speaker 5: Let me give final text here whore you let you go?
• 15:22
Speaker 5: How do you feel about sweet potatoes?
• 15:24
  Speaker 3: Says the text.
• 15:24
Speaker 7: I love sweet potatoes, okay as far as but that
• 15:28
Speaker 7: that counts as a sweet, not a sweet, not a
• 15:33
Speaker 7: sugar sweet, but it counts as a potato. It's not
• 15:36
Speaker 7: like you can eat sweet potatoes the same way that
• 15:38
Speaker 7: you could eat white potato.
• 15:39
Speaker 5: But I'm gonna say that you probably should avoid a
• 15:41
Speaker 5: lot of the toppings on them because a lot of people,
• 15:43
Speaker 5: and I'll say this, but like my wife, for example,
• 15:46
Speaker 5: loves sweet potatoes, but she likes them as more of
• 15:49
Speaker 5: a dessert because because people put marshmallows on them and
• 15:52
Speaker 5: they do all this other thing.
• 15:53
Speaker 7: And also syrup and then and the list goes on
• 15:58
Speaker 7: and on and on. You know in the that we
• 16:00
Speaker 7: used to go out and get a baked potato. We
• 16:03
Speaker 7: put so much stuff on it. We stopped eating potatoes
• 16:06
Speaker 7: because people said they were fattening. But no one ever
• 16:08
Speaker 7: blamed the butter, the sour cream, the cheese, the bacon bits.
• 16:13
Speaker 7: But the potato is a friend.
• 16:14
Speaker 3: All right, let me let me do this one. Then
• 16:16
Speaker 3: I have to let you go because I got people
• 16:17

Speaker 5: is the owner. It joins us now, John, good morning,
• 20:00
Speaker 5: Welcome to the show.
• 20:01
Speaker 4: Hey, Hey Dave, good morning. Thanks for having us up here.
• 20:03
Speaker 3: Thank you for being here.
• 20:04
Speaker 5: I want to talk about the history of the company.
• 20:08
Speaker 5: Tell us about Best Virginia.
• 20:10
Speaker 4: Wow, Best Virginia. We started the company. I say we
• 20:13
Speaker 4: started the company because it's a team, but I'm one
• 20:15
Speaker 4: hundred percent owner of the company. I started the company
• 20:18
Speaker 4: back in March of twenty twenty two. I've been in
• 20:21
Speaker 4: the residential heating and cooling space since two thousand and
• 20:26
Speaker 4: seven here locally. So love where we live, what we do,
• 20:30
Speaker 4: and I just started the company. I've met a lot
• 20:32
Speaker 4: of good tradesmen out there over the years, and I
• 20:36
Speaker 4: just felt there was never the right place for eight players,
• 20:40
Speaker 4: and so there was there was just not a place
• 20:43
Speaker 4: that honestly cared about the team and honestly cared about
• 20:46
Speaker 4: the customer, and so boom we exist. And now you know,
• 20:48
Speaker 4: started with myself and three people crazy enough to follow me,
• 20:51
Speaker 4: and now there's over sixty people on the team here
• 20:54
Speaker 4: just to help and serve the community. So extremely grateful.
• 20:56
Speaker 5: I'm going to imagine, Okay, I'm Captain obvious here that
• 21:00
Speaker 5: you guys have been real busy over the last week
• 21:02
  Speaker 5: or two.
• 21:02
Speaker 4: Here man exactly so. So Miss Bailey takes care of
• 21:06
Speaker 4: our marketing and we kind of joke, you know, all
• 21:08
Speaker 4: the time. The phones are blowing up, and so like
• 21:10
Speaker 4: I tell the guys, I'm like, hey, don't blame me,
• 21:12
Speaker 4: blame Bailey. She's connected with Bobby here, got us you know,
• 21:15
Speaker 4: rolling on the radio and a lot of good stuff.
• 21:17
Speaker 4: So it's been busy.
• 21:19
Speaker 5: I can imagine. As a matter of fact, I was
• 21:21
Speaker 5: selling Bobby. I live in Tayes Valley and the other morning,
• 21:23
Speaker 5: as I was pulling out to get on Tay's Valley Road,
• 21:26
Speaker 5: I saw one of your trucks and this was like,
• 21:28
Speaker 5: this was Monday. I leve earlier on Monday, like six
• 21:31
Speaker 5: twenty six, twenty five, and one of your trucks was
• 21:34
Speaker 5: rolling out there. Near where Barnyard Barbecue is. I saw
• 21:37
Speaker 5: one of one of the trucks over there, and so yeah,
• 21:40
Speaker 5: I mean you guys are out and about what made
• 21:42
Speaker 5: you want to go into this business, I mean as
• 21:44
Speaker 5: a trade for you personally?
• 21:46
Speaker 4: Yeah, I just I just love the space. So I
• 21:48
Speaker 4: mean I went to Winfield High School and graduated in
• 21:51
Speaker 4: ninety seven, then went to state college there in institute,
• 21:53
Speaker 4: and so I jokingly say, I just ended up in
• 21:56
Speaker 4: the trades just I enjoy construction, I enjoy people, and
• 22:00
Speaker 4: then so it just it just there there. There's a
• 22:03
Speaker 4: massive market here for us as a trade service company,
• 22:08
Speaker 4: and we specialize in residential and so I just love
• 22:12
Speaker 4: what we do, Dave. And there's so many great people
• 22:14
Speaker 4: on our team, you know, out here in the community
• 22:16
Speaker 4: that that want to be a part of a great
• 22:17
Speaker 4: team too. So we can just serve.
• 22:20
Speaker 5: Talk about getting people on your team, because I know
• 22:23
Speaker 5: that across America we have we have suffered from not
• 22:27
Speaker 5: being able to find enough people.
• 22:30
Speaker 3: Are you currently looking for people? Are you doing okay?
• 22:32
Speaker 3: I mean talk about finding people to fill these jobs.
• 22:36
Speaker 4: That that's I think that's been a situation since you know,
• 22:40
Speaker 4: day one with business and just just just how people are.
• 22:42
Speaker 4: But we we've had a great time finding people, but
• 22:48
Speaker 4: really people have kind of been attracted to us. So
• 22:52
Speaker 4: so you know, with our marketing, I mean, we just
• 22:54
Speaker 4: kind of tried to portray really who we are, and
• 22:55
Speaker 4: so on social media we show who we are and
• 22:57
Speaker 4: what we do. Like yesterday we had a company picnic, sorry,
• 23:00
Speaker 4: company meeting, and we just try to share monthly with
• 23:03
Speaker 4: everyone as a team what we do, and then our
• 23:07
Speaker 4: marketing department shows that. And so I just think that
• 23:11
Speaker 4: that there's a lot of good people out there just
• 23:14
Speaker 4: wanting to go work for a team, for a company
• 23:17
Speaker 4: to where they're going to be respected and appreciated. If
• 23:20
Speaker 4: that even answers your question.
• 23:21
Speaker 5: Well, I think though that and I could be wrong,
• 23:24
Speaker 5: but I would think that with this industry that there's
• 23:27
Speaker 5: always going to be jobs available. I mean, because I
• 23:29
Speaker 5: don't know, AI can't do everything yet, and you're going
• 23:32
Speaker 5: to have to have bodies to go to. So I
• 23:34
Speaker 5: would say to a younger person or even an older person,
• 23:36
Speaker 5: this might be an okay career to go into.
• 23:39
Speaker 4: Yeah, what an awesome space for people to get into.
• 23:42
Speaker 4: And so we are heavily involved in the local high schools,
• 23:44
Speaker 4: the local trade schools. But yeah, we're trying to get
• 23:47
Speaker 4: to the trade schools because once people are at the
• 23:49
Speaker 4: what we're trying to get into the high schools because
• 23:51
Speaker 4: once with the trade schools, they kind of see that
• 23:52
Speaker 4: maybe that there is something over there. But we want
• 23:54
Speaker 4: these kids in these high schools to better understand. I'm
• 23:57
Speaker 4: not saying that that that the public school system didn't
• 24:01
Speaker 4: do a great job back in the day and hasn't
• 24:03
Speaker 4: done a great job of informing and educating kids of
• 24:06
Speaker 4: their potential. But there's just massive opportunity here in the
• 24:10
Speaker 4: trades for anyone. But just like us as a company,
• 24:13
Speaker 4: sure we're a trades company, but you know what, like
• 24:15
Speaker 4: we need it people. We need marketing people, we need
• 24:18
Speaker 4: customer service reps. So like it's just not people that
• 24:21
Speaker 4: need to turn the wrench, but yet we need people
• 24:23
Speaker 4: on the operation side that are passionate also. So yeah,
• 24:27
Speaker 4: we've got a great game plan. Actually, in twenty twenty six,
• 24:30
Speaker 4: we're going to be building a training facility inside our
• 24:33
Speaker 4: new facility here in Scott Depot that's fifteen thousand square foot,
• 24:37
Speaker 4: so really bringing our own trade school in house. Then
• 24:41
Speaker 4: we can grow our team, which is awesome.
• 24:43
Speaker 5: That's good So I'm talking to John Carruthers, a Best
• 24:46
Speaker 5: Virginia to Day Island showing five any lie brought to
• 24:48
Speaker 5: you a part by Husband's Pizza this month it's your

• 24:54
Speaker 5: your nearest hustands for delivery, pickup or dining in at
• 24:57
Speaker 5: husbands Pizza dot com. Since you've gotten into this field, John,
• 25:01
Speaker 5: what kind of changes or what's the hot new Because
• 25:04
Speaker 5: there's trends in every business. I mean as it comes
• 25:07
Speaker 5: to and maybe not be the sexiest thing in the
• 25:09
Speaker 5: world to talk about, but heat, even cooling, HVAC, whatever
• 25:12
Speaker 5: you want to call it. What kind of trends have
• 25:14
Speaker 5: you seen? What's the hottest new thing out there?
• 25:17
Speaker 4: Energy efficiency and comfort are definitely things that that homeowners want,
• 25:22
Speaker 4: and I think they want absolute peace of mind. So gosh,
• 25:26
Speaker 4: is there anything trending, you know, like on TikTok in
• 25:28
Speaker 4: our space? Probably not, but yet, Like I think what's
• 25:31
Speaker 4: trending for us is just just five star experiences for customers.
• 25:34
Speaker 4: I mean, customers love a five star experience, Customers want
• 25:38
Speaker 4: to be heard, customers want to, you know, like when
• 25:40
Speaker 4: they're in need, they want to make a phone call
• 25:42
Speaker 4: and just have like a real live person that cares
• 25:46
Speaker 4: answer the phone say Hey, how you doing, Dave? What
• 25:49
Speaker 4: can I help you with today? So, man, we're just
• 25:52
Speaker 4: trying to just deliver that five star experience, you know.
• 25:55
Speaker 4: But then there are some awesome products out there that
• 25:58
Speaker 4: can greatly help with people breathing better, paying less out
• 26:01
Speaker 4: for utility bills with better you know, just more efficient
• 26:03
Speaker 4: energy equipment and some things like that.
• 26:07
Speaker 5: And I want to make sure before we close that
• 26:08
Speaker 5: will get your contact information, your website, social media, your
• 26:12
Speaker 5: phone number and so on and so forth.
• 26:13
Speaker 3: But I want to talk about you.
• 26:15
Speaker 5: Hear the term a lot of times John in the
• 26:16
Speaker 5: world of business giving back to the community, but you
• 26:19
Speaker 5: guys really take it from what I understand at the
• 26:21
Speaker 5: next level Best Virginia with different things that you do
• 26:24
  Speaker 5: in the community.
• 26:25
  Speaker 8: Yeah.
• 26:26
Speaker 4: So so that was kind of my vision really since
• 26:28
Speaker 4: since the day one, since we started, Like I just
• 26:31
Speaker 4: said that we were going to do things a little
• 26:33
Speaker 4: bit differently, you know, with that servant mindset. And then
• 26:35
Speaker 4: so we this is our third annual Christmas Blessing giveaway,
• 26:41
Speaker 4: and so we haven't installed it yet, but we just
• 26:43
Speaker 4: had had the winner of our third annual Christmas Blessing
• 26:45
Speaker 4: got a brand new heating cooling system. Those strings attached.
• 26:48
Speaker 4: We're just going to help you. And then so we
• 26:50
Speaker 4: just had our annual Veterans give away, and so this
• 26:54
Speaker 4: coming year in twenty twenty five, we're going to give
• 26:56
Speaker 4: away six systems to local homeowners. So you have to
• 27:01
Speaker 4: either live in you know, Putnam Cable or Keanall County,
• 27:03
Speaker 4: which is our service area. There's really not many asterisks
• 27:06
Speaker 4: or anything like that, but we just we're just here
• 27:08
  Speaker 4: to help.
• 27:09
Speaker 3: How do people enter that?
• 27:10
Speaker 4: I mean so easy, you can just go to Facebook.
• 27:12
Speaker 4: So so so we're gonna promote this very easily on
• 27:16
Speaker 4: our website, on some direct mail possibly, but really I'll
• 27:19
Speaker 4: just say our website and or social media, so you
• 27:21
Speaker 4: can just go right there to our website or to
• 27:23
Speaker 4: social media, you know anytime. Obviously follow us on social
• 27:26
Speaker 4: media and you can you know, see anything pop up
• 27:29
Speaker 4: whenever we're having something. But it's it's very easy to
• 27:32
Speaker 4: to enroll. And we love giving back, we love helping,
• 27:36
Speaker 4: and so our team finds finds great gosh, just happiness,
• 27:41
  Speaker 4: you know, being a part of a team that's that's
• 27:42
Speaker 4: working hard to help and give back and so and
• 27:46
Speaker 4: then and then to kind of be known as those
• 27:47
Speaker 4: people in that space. It's just it's just a beautiful thing.
• 27:50
Speaker 5: Well, and as I said, you know, you're a local person,
• 27:53
Speaker 5: and I know a lot of your employees, probably the
• 27:55
Speaker 5: majority of them are all local people. So you know
• 27:58
Speaker 5: you you live here, you live in the community. You're
• 28:00
Speaker 5: Putnam County Gabbage Services, you said, Cabul and Kanawa Counties
• 28:03
  Speaker 5: as well.
• 28:04
Speaker 3: So giving back to the community. I'm sure it's an
• 28:06
Speaker 3: important part of your mission statement.
• 28:08
  Speaker 4: It is.
• 28:08
  Speaker 2: It is.
• 28:09
  Speaker 4: It's a beautiful feeling. But I mean it's just a
• 28:11
Speaker 4: small thing, and we're just we're just a small fish
• 28:13
Speaker 4: in this big pond. And so there's a lot of
• 28:15
Speaker 4: other awesome people out there giving back to We're just
• 28:17
Speaker 4: one little HVAC company here locally helping all right.
• 28:20
Speaker 3: Before we let you go, final words from you sell
• 28:23
Speaker 3: us on your company.
• 28:24
Speaker 4: Jim oh Man. So really, we just have an awesome team.
• 28:27
Speaker 4: We just try to hire the right people, train those people,
• 28:30
Speaker 4: and then just just build systems all day every day
• 28:33
Speaker 4: so that we can implement you know, that five star
• 28:35
Speaker 4: experience to you the customer and then to our team,
• 28:38
Speaker 4: because our team deserves a five star experience. Also me
• 28:40
Speaker 4: on the operations and our operations team, like our customer
• 28:44
Speaker 4: is our technicians. And so the better I treat those
• 28:46
Speaker 4: people and just the the better you know, they're set up,
• 28:49
Speaker 4: the better they can serve our customer, which is pretty awesome. So,
• 28:53
Speaker 4: like one of the big things is I've got three daughters,
• 28:56
Speaker 4: and so drug testing and background check that's uh we
• 29:02
Speaker 4: we don't deviate off that. So everybody that's that's with
• 29:04
Speaker 4: our company. Especially if you see somebody out there in
• 29:06
Speaker 4: a van coming to your house, you know one they
• 29:10
Speaker 4: have been drug tested in background checked. And actually we
• 29:13
Speaker 4: all wear badges so you can just see like the face,
• 29:15
Speaker 4: you know, like I joke and see a mug shot
• 29:17
Speaker 4: and then then there's a little QR code on their day,
• 29:20
Speaker 4: but you can scan and see a uh a real background.
• 29:22
Speaker 5: I mean, because you people are opening up their house
• 29:24
Speaker 5: to people, and in today's time that's not always that
• 29:28
Speaker 5: could be an uneasy feeling. I'm letting this person just
• 29:30
Speaker 5: come in my house, you know, oh yeah, or under
• 29:32
Speaker 5: my house for that matter, whatever the case may be.
• 29:34
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 29:35
  Speaker 8: Agree.
• 29:35
Speaker 4: Plus plus those same people that are in your house
• 29:37
Speaker 4: you know, from a from a man, from a from
• 29:39
Speaker 4: a moral perspective, like those those same people are, Like
• 29:43
Speaker 4: you need those people to be competent because we mess
• 29:45
Speaker 4: with high voltage electricity. Sure, we mess with gas and
• 29:48
Speaker 4: this time of the season, there's so many carbon monoxide
• 29:51
Speaker 4: type issues that we come across and we see and
• 29:54
Speaker 4: just our guys are trained. So it's not only you know,
• 29:57
Speaker 4: like like they drive you know, like van and have
• 30:00
Speaker 4: nice uniforms and this and that, like they look presentable. Like, no,
• 30:02
Speaker 4: these guys are the cream of the crop. Like their
• 30:04
Speaker 4: certifications from a technical perspective are better than they're just
• 30:08
Speaker 4: what the industry requires. I'm not going to say we're
• 30:10
Speaker 4: they're better than anyone. They just they're they're, you know,
• 30:13
  Speaker 4: what is required. So that's that's if I don't want
• 30:16
Speaker 4: you in my house, I'm not putting you out there
• 30:18
Speaker 4: in in our van sending you to your house because
• 30:20
  Speaker 4: I just don't think that's good. I think that's nearly malpractice.
• 30:23
Speaker 4: But that's another story.
• 30:24
Speaker 5: All right, we'll have you on again to talk about that,

Speaker 3: So we have a new governor, sir, we do, we do.
• 34:48
Speaker 16: Went to the UH some of the inaugural festivities and
• 34:53
Speaker 16: a lot of people with the evening stuff, and it
• 34:56
  Speaker 16: was good.
• 34:57
Speaker 3: It's good, all right.
• 34:58
Speaker 5: So yesterday just say this. I watched the press conference.
• 35:01
  Speaker 5: I wasn't intense, but I watched it. I watched the
• 35:03
Speaker 5: live stream of the press conference yesterday, and I just
• 35:05
Speaker 5: want to say this to Governor Patrick Morrissey. It was
• 35:09
Speaker 5: very refreshing to have a governor and maybe it's just
• 35:13
Speaker 5: different styles or whatever that went before the press that
• 35:18
Speaker 5: answered questions that just basically and I again I wasn't there,
• 35:22
Speaker 5: but I talked to people. Jeff Jenkins, i know, covered
• 35:24
Speaker 5: it for us and opened for him, which is the
• 35:26
Speaker 5: way press conferences are supposed to be, where you can
• 35:29
Speaker 5: actually ask questions and you can have follow ups and
• 35:32
Speaker 5: things of that nature. So I'm going to give Governor
• 35:35
  Speaker 5: Morrisey a big.
• 35:36
  Speaker 3: Probleis for that.
• 35:37
Speaker 16: Look, Morsey is a policy guy, right, I mean he's
• 35:39
Speaker 16: come from a you know, working on Capitol Hill and
• 35:43
Speaker 16: you know, working in government stuff and government relations. Like
• 35:47
Speaker 16: he's a policy guy. He likes that stuff, right, He's
• 35:50
Speaker 16: he's like, he likes it. He he's going to get
• 35:53
Speaker 16: down in the weeds obviously with some of those executive
• 35:56
Speaker 16: orders that he put out, you know, or some a
• 35:59
Speaker 16: lot of that's odd stroke stuff that I'm sure he's
• 36:01
Speaker 16: going to get much deeper into detail as they move along.
• 36:06
Speaker 16: But look, I mean a lot of this stuff it's
• 36:08
Speaker 16: kind of weird too, right. It's like Morrissey's good at
• 36:10
Speaker 16: the stuff that Justice wasn't, you know, or you know,
• 36:13
  Speaker 16: it's sort of like they're they're just they're a lot
• 36:15
Speaker 16: different kind of guys, right, And I think that's what
• 36:17
Speaker 16: you said, Yeah, And you know, Justice was really good
• 36:21
Speaker 16: at the commerce and the messaging and the tourism and
• 36:26
Speaker 16: you know, things that he knew about he was really
• 36:28
Speaker 16: good at as governor, and things that he didn't care
• 36:32
Speaker 16: about as much he didn't spend as much of his
• 36:36
Speaker 16: time energy on right as governor. And I think that's
• 36:39
Speaker 16: what you're seeing Morrissey trying to address here with some
• 36:43
Speaker 16: of the government efficiencies. And we're going to review all
• 36:45
Speaker 16: these contracts and you know, we're you know, we're going
• 36:50
Speaker 16: to get down in the weeds on this stuff, which
• 36:53
Speaker 16: honestly is just not something that we haven't had a
• 36:57
Speaker 16: conservative governor come in and do that.
• 37:00
Speaker 5: And let me just say this, I'm gonna jump in
• 37:01
Speaker 5: here for one second I'll tell you the Governor Morrissey
• 37:04
Speaker 5: is serious about this, because I had a conversation with
• 37:07
Speaker 5: somebody under the Capitol Dome and traditionally the governor the
• 37:12
Speaker 5: state of West Virginia has to sign a lot of papers,
• 37:15
Speaker 5: you know, I mean that's just part of you.
• 37:16
Speaker 3: Sign a whole lot of stuff.
• 37:18
Speaker 5: And I was told by someone that Morrissey and you know,
• 37:23
Speaker 5: basically they have a magic pen, so to speak, where
• 37:27
Speaker 5: you know, other people can sign, you know, people in
• 37:29
Speaker 5: the office can sign his name. It's it's actually his signature.
• 37:32
Speaker 5: But so on Soth he's pretty much come out and said, no,
• 37:35
Speaker 5: I'm not doing that, at least not right away now.
• 37:37
Speaker 5: Once he gets into it, and you know, scheduling may
• 37:40
Speaker 5: come into it, but he said, no, I want to
• 37:42
Speaker 5: look at every pe, everything that comes across the office
• 37:45
Speaker 5: of the governor. I want to look at myself. And
• 37:50
Speaker 5: whether that's just hyperbole or whether he actually means.
• 37:52
Speaker 3: That, I think. I like that. I like that.
• 37:55
  Speaker 2: Oh.
• 37:55
Speaker 3: I think he's going to try to do it right
• 37:57
Speaker 3: the best he can.
• 37:58
Speaker 16: Yeah, I difn'tly think he's going to try to do it,
• 37:59
Speaker 16: And whether he can do it is probably a different question.
• 38:02
Speaker 16: But yeah, I mean, I certainly think he's going to
• 38:04
Speaker 16: try to do it, you know, And a lot of
• 38:07
Speaker 16: the stuff he talked about, right, he refers to this
• 38:09
Speaker 16: backyard brawl, which is essentially just hey, what are other
• 38:14
Speaker 16: states around us doing to and how do they deal
• 38:17
Speaker 16: with businesses? And you know, how how do we put
• 38:19
Speaker 16: West Virginia in a position to attract to be attractive
• 38:22
  Speaker 16: for business?
• 38:22
Speaker 8: Right And and you.
• 38:25
Speaker 16: Know, Governor Justice had this very active commerce department that
• 38:29
Speaker 16: was out there cutting deals all that after what he did,
• 38:31
Speaker 16: and I think Morrisey has this different approach of like, hey,
• 38:35
Speaker 16: if there's something that we're doing wrong the week that
• 38:38
Speaker 16: businesses keep asking us to have to get around, why
• 38:41
Speaker 16: don't we get rid of that?
• 38:42
  Speaker 5: Right?
• 38:42
Speaker 16: Like you know that you know, he talks about the
• 38:44
Speaker 16: rules and regulations and things like that, and so I
• 38:46
  Speaker 16: think that's a worthwhile think. I don't think that's something
• 38:48
Speaker 16: that's going to be able to happen tomorrow, right.
• 38:50
Speaker 3: I don't think he said that.
• 38:51
Speaker 16: Yeah, no, no, no, no, no, I mean that's what I'm saying.
• 38:54
Speaker 16: I think of the things he talked about, there's a
• 38:56
Speaker 16: several of them. There are things that can happen right away, right,
• 38:58
Speaker 16: you know, some of the Hey, we're going to get
• 39:00
Speaker 16: rid of the DEI stuff. We're going to get you know,
• 39:02
Speaker 16: the regular the you know, hey, I want the legislator
• 39:06
Speaker 16: to codify this religious exemption.
• 39:09
  Speaker 8: Vaccines.
• 39:10
Speaker 16: You know, I think there's certain things that can happen
• 39:12
Speaker 16: right away. I think there's other stuff that's going to
• 39:14
Speaker 16: take time, right. I think that's your your background braw
• 39:17
Speaker 16: business concept, you know, the spending decisions, the government efficiency stuff,
• 39:21
Speaker 16: doing that top down review of rules and regulations. All
• 39:26
Speaker 16: of that stuff needs done.
• 39:27
  Speaker 3: It's just stuff that's not.
• 39:28
Speaker 16: Going to be done by you know, in ten days, right,
• 39:32
Speaker 16: and so you know, he's getting started on that. I
• 39:35
Speaker 16: think that's a good thing, you know, And I think
• 39:38
Speaker 16: we're just gonna have to you know, I think you
• 39:39
Speaker 16: and others will just have to follow up on that
• 39:41
Speaker 16: stuff right to be like, hey, how's that going, right?
• 39:43
Speaker 16: I mean yeah, yeah, Like it's not something that you're
• 39:46
Speaker 16: going to say, well, hey, look forward to you to
• 39:48
Speaker 16: report next week. But it's also going to be something
• 39:50
Speaker 16: like oh, hey, you know, I'm not going to mention
• 39:52
Speaker 16: it for a year.
• 39:53
Speaker 5: Right right today, the island showing five any line bright

• 40:07
Speaker 5: Birds Merchant Moore at dirty Birds Baseball dot Com. I'm
• 40:09
Speaker 5: gonna move on to Jim Justice. Governor Justice is now
• 40:12
Speaker 5: Senator Justice. He and baby Dog were in Washington yesterday
• 40:18
Speaker 5: walking down the aisle there with Senator Shelley Moore Capito.
• 40:20
Speaker 5: She's kind of serving as the tour guide, if you will.
• 40:23
Speaker 3: Of the of the governor.
• 40:24
Speaker 5: And as I said, baby Dog, is there. Your thoughts
• 40:27
Speaker 5: on Senator Senator Jim Justice.
• 40:30
Speaker 16: Well, I think he's going to do really well because
• 40:34
Speaker 16: he's going to be supportive of Donald Trump, right, I mean,
• 40:37
Speaker 16: he's a he's friends with Donald Trump. He ran on Buddy,
• 40:41
Speaker 16: you know, he switched parties because of his political parties
• 40:44
Speaker 16: because of his friendship with Trump. And he's going to
• 40:48
  Speaker 16: He's going to d C to be and then a
• 40:50
Speaker 16: supportive role of the Donald Trump America First agenda. And
• 40:55
Speaker 16: guess what you know, West Virginians are more supportive of
• 40:57
Speaker 16: that agenda than the in their state in the country.
• 40:59
  Speaker 8: I think it's going to I think.
• 41:00
Speaker 3: That end of it's going to go well.
• 41:04
Speaker 16: Justice is not somebody that likes to get down in
• 41:06
Speaker 16: the weeds and is going to go over there and
• 41:08
Speaker 16: serve on some committee for twenty years and become an
• 41:10
Speaker 16: expert and you know, some singular aspect of government. I
• 41:16
Speaker 16: think he's just going to go over there and you know,
• 41:19
Speaker 16: he'll probably look for deals and things that he can
• 41:22
Speaker 16: cut and things that he can do to bring stuff
• 41:24
Speaker 16: back to West Virginia. And he's going to support Trump's agenda.
• 41:28
  Speaker 16: And there's so much I mean Trump's agenda, there's just
• 41:31
Speaker 16: so many There's just so much low hanging fruit of
• 41:35
Speaker 16: things that need to be done, whether it's the things
• 41:37
Speaker 16: about the border, you know, getting us out of all
• 41:39
Speaker 16: these foreign wars, you know, the whole government efficiency stuff.
• 41:42
Speaker 16: I mean, there's so many things that can be done
• 41:46
  Speaker 16: right away.
• 41:46
Speaker 8: I mean that the.
• 41:47
Speaker 16: Energy policies of this outgoing administration were just absolutely horrendous,
• 41:53
Speaker 16: and I think that Justice will be a big asset
• 41:55
Speaker 16: and helping getting that stuff back on track. So I
• 41:58
Speaker 16: think it's I think it's going to go well, but
• 42:01
Speaker 16: I mainly think it's gonna go well because of Trump, right,
• 42:03
Speaker 16: I mean, I think it's that that combination of those
• 42:06
Speaker 16: two that that's gonna you know, they're gonna it's gonna
• 42:09
Speaker 16: be the symbotic relationship where they're both gonna be a
• 42:11
Speaker 16: be supportive of each other.
• 42:12
Speaker 5: Did you watch any of the uh, the the hegsfth
• 42:15
  Speaker 5: stuff yesterday?
• 42:16
Speaker 3: I didn't watch it like live.
• 42:18
Speaker 5: I saw some like clips and stuff last night because
• 42:20
Speaker 5: I had a text here about that.
• 42:22
Speaker 3: Uh And I'm gonna read this texting and get your response.
• 42:24
Speaker 3: Is how great? Says it's extra?
• 42:25
Speaker 5: Did Pete Hegseth handle the despicable attempts that personally smeared
• 42:29
Speaker 5: him by the likes of Tim Kane. Apparently Timmy another
• 42:31
Speaker 5: Democrats forgot all about their beloved former Democrats senator in
• 42:34
Speaker 5: two thousand and eight presidential candidate John Edwards, who had
• 42:37
Speaker 5: a child with a campaign staffer while his wife Elizabeth
• 42:40

• 42:44
Speaker 16: You know that stuff gets so personal over there, right,
• 42:47
Speaker 16: I mean, and especially that confirmation things and things like that.
• 42:52
Speaker 16: He obviously handled himself very well.
• 42:55
Speaker 5: You can tell he's got some media background. And look,
• 42:58
Speaker 5: I'll say this, I was not somebody who would a
• 43:00
Speaker 5: huge fan of heg Seth.
• 43:01
Speaker 3: I don't think he's the right gaffer throw.
• 43:03
Speaker 5: However, when you remove yourself from that, yesterday he kicked
• 43:06
Speaker 5: their butts yesterday in my opinion, I mean, I mean,
• 43:09
Speaker 5: I think he made Elizabeth Warren look really really stupid.
• 43:12
Speaker 16: Dan, Yes, well, they and others, they're the Democrats are
• 43:16
Speaker 16: going to have to make a choice here, right, I mean,
• 43:18
Speaker 16: they like right now, they're they went way, way, way
• 43:21
Speaker 16: too far right. And now you've got this correction of
• 43:24
Speaker 16: course with Trump and and sort of you know this move.
• 43:27
Speaker 16: You know that they went so far left and so
• 43:30
Speaker 16: far crazy into some of these really whack job liberal policies.
• 43:35
Speaker 16: They're gonna have to make a decision about do they
• 43:37
Speaker 16: get to be a normal party again?
• 43:39
  Speaker 8: Right?
• 43:39
Speaker 16: Are they going to try to attract normal people? And
• 43:42
Speaker 16: you keep thinking, like, well, surely that beat down they
• 43:45
Speaker 16: got in November is gonna make them go, hey, we're
• 43:48
Speaker 16: gonna have to like try to get new people to
• 43:50
Speaker 16: come into the party, and we're gonna have to be
• 43:51
Speaker 16: reasonable people. And you think that and you see some
• 43:55
Speaker 16: of the talking heads, right, and you see some Democrat
• 43:57
Speaker 16: consultants that will say it, but you don't see any
• 44:01
Speaker 16: Democrat politicians doing it. Not no, no, they're doubling down
• 44:04
Speaker 16: on craziness and anger.
• 44:06
  Speaker 3: Again.
• 44:07
Speaker 5: As I've said a long time ago, they don't realize
• 44:10
Speaker 5: why they lost twenty sixteen, you know, to begin with,
• 44:14
Speaker 5: and it's like they aren't learning anything. And even a
• 44:18
Speaker 5: lot of people that are, you know, political pundits that
• 44:21
Speaker 5: tend to be more liberal Democrats are at the very
• 44:26
Speaker 5: least independents are saying, guys, gals, you guys are doing
• 44:29
Speaker 5: this all wrong. And they just they've got they're so
• 44:32
Speaker 5: dug in, they just won't listen. We got to take
• 44:35

• 47:20
Speaker 5: You're out with a press release and I read it
• 47:22
Speaker 5: this morning about the state's ongoing battle against lawsuit abuse.
• 47:26
Speaker 5: In it, you refer to West Virginia raising itself out
• 47:29
Speaker 5: of the judicial hellhole ranks. Your words, what more in
• 47:34
Speaker 5: your opinion does West Virginia need to do well?
• 47:36
Speaker 16: There's actually a lot still to do. I mean, you know,
• 47:38
Speaker 16: West Virginia for decades had one of the worst legal
• 47:42
Speaker 16: systems in the country, and you know, it was always
• 47:46
Speaker 16: on the American Tort Reform Association's Judicial hellhole list. And finally,
• 47:50
Speaker 16: you know, throughout the last ten fifteen years, you know,
• 47:54
Speaker 16: won some state Supreme Court seats. You know, mor c
• 47:57
Speaker 16: beat McGraw's and the Attorney general's race. You know, when
• 48:01
Speaker 16: the Republicans took over the legislature, we passed dozens of
• 48:03
Speaker 16: legal reform bills. I mean, we really did get this
• 48:06
Speaker 16: way back on track at the point of the release
• 48:08
Speaker 16: was to be like, hey, you know, at the end
• 48:10
Speaker 16: of the year, the judicial hellhole list came on out
• 48:12
Speaker 16: and we're not on it, which is great. You know,
• 48:15
Speaker 16: we thank everybody for all the work they did to
• 48:17
Speaker 16: get us here. But we still do have some problem
• 48:20
Speaker 16: areas in the state, and we have a couple issues.
• 48:23
Speaker 16: Medical monitoring is one of the biggest issues.
• 48:25
  Speaker 3: Now explain that.
• 48:26
Speaker 16: So medical monitoring comes out of a state Supreme Court
• 48:29
Speaker 16: decision that was twenty five years ago that essentially, in
• 48:33
Speaker 16: West Virginia, you can sue somebody without any proof of injury.
• 48:37
Speaker 16: You can say like, oh, hey, you know, I'm not
• 48:40
Speaker 16: injured yet, but I may get sick, so I'm gonna
• 48:43
Speaker 16: sue you, and you're gonna give me money, and that
• 48:44
Speaker 16: money is going to pay for my medical monitoring to
• 48:47
Speaker 16: test me to make sure I don't get sick. Right,
• 48:50
Speaker 16: And we're one of only a handful of states that
• 48:54
Speaker 16: does it that way. It's really something that's long overdue
• 48:57
Speaker 16: for us to change and kind of get back in.
• 49:00
Speaker 16: Another big problem that's kind of just come up over
• 49:02
Speaker 16: the last couple of years is lawsuits against brim you know,
• 49:05
Speaker 16: the Board of versu con Insurance Management sort of the
• 49:07
Speaker 16: state insurance company. You know, we've had hundreds of millions
• 49:11
Speaker 16: of dollars of payouts from that. And you know how
• 49:13
Speaker 16: that is, right, It's like once that gets going and
• 49:16
Speaker 16: the sharks gonna see blood, right, all of a sudden
• 49:18
Speaker 16: they're on it. And now you're you know, heck now
• 49:20
Speaker 16: and here in Kannawk County, I see advertisement, you know,
• 49:23
Speaker 16: I see social media ads and stuff for those kind
• 49:25
Speaker 16: of lawsuits all the time. So I think I think
• 49:27
Speaker 16: there's a couple of things like that that still need
• 49:29
Speaker 16: addressed and so and we have and we have several
• 49:33
Speaker 16: other bills as well, and it's really not stuff to
• 49:36
Speaker 16: like get us. You know, we're not trying to become
• 49:38
Speaker 16: the number one state. We just need to still not
• 49:41
Speaker 16: be in that bottom ten, right, Like how do we
• 49:43
Speaker 16: just get to be an average state? And that's what
• 49:45
Speaker 16: we're working on. And then of course, you know, Knawk County,
• 49:48
Speaker 16: of all the circuit courts, you know, this is the
• 49:50
Speaker 16: most liberal circuit court you know, in the cot in
• 49:53
Speaker 16: the state, without question. I mean, you know, heck, you know,
• 49:56
Speaker 16: the personal injury law, you're spend a million dollars to
• 49:59
Speaker 16: reelect Jennifer to the Kanawuk County Circuit Court, which is
• 50:02
Speaker 16: just an unheard of number for them to do. And
• 50:05
  Speaker 16: so I think that's a you know, I think there's
• 50:08
Speaker 16: some problem areas of the state and there's still a
• 50:10
Speaker 16: few issues that we need to address. And uh, I've
• 50:13
Speaker 16: actually got a meeting later today to hopefully address some
• 50:16
Speaker 16: of those issues with a legislative leader.
