- Casey: Hey everyone, welcome back to Mention It All again. This week it's your girl Casey, but wait, Blake not here. We've got a special guest in the building while Blake travels the world. Guest, why don't you introduce yourself? Chris: ⁓ my god, hello, mention it all again audience. My name is Chris. I would say I'm a Luan Sun, Dorinda Moon, Shannon Rising. Casey: Wow, that's really, I actually really appreciate you doing that. I've never even said that about myself, so maybe I'll think on that too. I'll say, I'm also probably a Luan Sun, but a Whitney Rose Moon, and, hmm, Astassi Schroeder rising, I think. Cut it. Yeah. Chris: Absolutely. If I'm being truly honest, and you know I've said this to you, I'm a Sheena Shay Rising Tom Schwartz Moon. But we're not gonna miss it. Casey: And you know I don't agree about that about you like I I want better for you Well, yes Chris Chris is my dear friend. We actually also met through our love of Bravo and housewives similar to Blake and I ⁓ And we've been friends for a good a good over a year now. We're getting to two Chris: I'm real. No, you. I would say... I'd probably say some nursery, right? Casey: Three? Right, mean, spiritually it's been since the womb. We're basically like twins, but not. Different ages and we don't look alike. And we don't have the same mom. But other than that. Chris: Yeah. ⁓ literally identical twins. Casey: Literally. So yeah, Blake is traveling, enjoying himself. He's taking some rest, lighting his abundance candle. So we have the lovely Chris here today. And we're gonna dive into a little Real Housewives of New York, season 10. ⁓ And we're gonna get into the first half of that one today, which is chock full of content, honestly. It's like... Chris: I'll play, we love you. Yes, we. Casey: these women pack it in, so let's get right into it. ⁓ It really is. So we start off the season and we have the women all kind of catching us up on where things are. ⁓ Luann just got divorced, so that's a big ⁓ timeline event. Carol is running a marathon. Tinsley is single-ish, living in a hotel. Chris: It's doozy. Bye. Casey: Bethany's dog just died, Dorinda's dating John still, and that's kind of where everybody's at. Ramona's doing nothing, she's divorced too, so that's where we start off. Chris: Yeah. for moment, it's just gallivanting around, if we're being honest. Casey: She's being, ⁓ she says it multiple times. She's being a maven. She's being a maven of everything she can. She's, which is just another word for unemployment, really, but. I think that's fine. Chris: Like a mic for retirement. Casey: Okay, that's cute. mean, yeah, I guess she is like of age to like not have to work. Like she doesn't really have to be employed at this stage, but... Yeah, we kind of open up with like catching up with mostly Luanne and she's talking with Dorinda about her divorce and she is just like, I've suffered so much. Like I really felt like I was drowning in that relationship and you kind of get a little montage of all the women saying like, we knew this was coming, but it's unfortunate that it came regardless. Even Bethany's like the three things that are sure in life are death, taxes and that Luanne. was gonna get divorced from Tom and it's like, ooh, true, but sad but true. ⁓ So she's in a bad place. Well, good but bad. Chris: I mean, here's the thing is that while you may have your opinion on her, she is always going to say something extremely truthful. Casey: Always. And she's a real role model. Like her confidence and delusion is actually a philosophy that I try to employ in my everyday life because she's really like the, she's the IDGAF queen. Like Luanne is hard to shake on this show. Like she's always kind of like, yeah, whatever girl. I'll move along. I'm good. Chris: But what Bethany loves is a challenge. And that's what Luanne is to her. Casey: For sure. Yeah, and I think she just doesn't understand her like happy-go-lucky attitude. Because like Bethany feels like you have to like go to war for your success. ⁓ And Luann like hasn't done that. So in her eyes, it's not like not good enough, but. Whatever, they're actually fine this season. The big divorce and the big fight that we have this season is obviously Bethany Carroll. So that's really where the conflict is. And it kind of first starts off as a proxy war. They're kind of using... Chris: Yeah Casey: Carol's kind of behind Tinsley and Bethany's kind of behind Sonya and they're like ghost writing trigger warning for Carol ghost writing their argument but that's like how it starts and like Tins it's a Tins-Carol marriage era not a Beth- a Beth-Carol like Chris: also think that this is one of the first, not one of the first times on Housewives, because this had obviously previously happened a bunch, but I think one of the first times on Rony that we saw there having been drama in between seasons of filming, between the girls specifically. Like, they pretty consistently usually, their relationships were stable, you know? Even like, Casey: Right. Right. Chris: Bethany and Ramona like they're gonna hate each other and go back and forth. We all know that's gonna happen, but it was clear that Season 9 had ended Something had gone down between then and now things got weird Casey: for sure. Something has shifted energy-wise, and you can feel it from episode one. Even though they don't totally get into it yet, you can kinda sense they're not in their BFF phase the same way that they were. And Tinsley has kind of taken over this spot, and... Chris: I cannot hear. Casey: Yeah, and Tinsley is like fine. Like I like Tinsley, I love watching her on the show, she's a little bit like, she's living in a hotel right now. Her tagline is, why would I make it myself when I could get room service? she, like, it's just like, it's like, okay. Chris: Yeah I find Kimberly so charming though. There's something about her that she's just like, ⁓ you mean Casey: She's like in her little like, I don't even know how much she was probably paying for that hotel room. Like it's massive. She's getting like this crazy room service every single day. It was like giving me like kind of stress hives and jealousy of like, I wish I could do that. That would be my dream life probably too. Chris: And now, do we think that was fully funded by her, her mom, or was that guy she was with Scott? Casey: Well, that is a point of contention. Scott. Scott is like out of the picture at the start of this season, but they're trying to mend it. So he's like, they're broken up at the start of season 10, but they're gonna get back together. Like she knows it, it's like an inevitability. And Sonya and her kind of have like a light beef, a ⁓ rare, a steak tartare at the beginning of the season. And... Chris: Thank you. Yeah. which was so random. Casey: And Sonia, one of her sticking points is your mom and or your boyfriend fund your whole life. Like you don't do anything and like. Chris: And at the end of the day, it's because shout out, Sonia, sorta. ⁓ But you're just jealous because you don't have someone funding your life right now. Casey: Right, which is ultimately like the only reason why anyone gets mad at people in those situations. Like it's annoying because you don't have it. Like it's annoying because somebody else beat the system, whether fair or not, and you didn't get to. Like, yeah, I'm annoyed too. I'd love for that to be my life, but it's not. ⁓ But the majority of the premiere that's like actually interesting is... Chris: I'll be there soon. Casey: the Halloween party. So Dorinda hosts a Halloween event at like, I think at like a bar. It's not in any of her like properties, but she hosts a Halloween party. actually looks quite drovial. It looks like an event I'd like to be at, but Dorinda. Chris: I would have loved to have been in attendance. Now, what would you have warned? Casey: Ooh, okay, I mean, let's say like, let's reference my past Halloween costumes since maybe I can like do a poll from then. I went as a Smurf one year and I was blue and it was like a little sexy too and I think that would have matched like the New York feel of like a little slutty, a little silly. I would have looked fun with Luanne in her Diana Ross costume. We would have looked really good together, I think. Chris: Yes. Casey: What would you have worn? Or I guess you could invent a new costume too, or a pull from the past. Chris: It's too much to think of one right now while I'm on camera, so I'm gonna pull one from the archives and honestly from this past year's runway and go with my Greek god costume. I really, I was a fan of that. Thank you. Hey, if you all really wanna see it, who am I to deny viewers? You know? But while I'm here... Casey: you looked really good in that. Like maybe we'll clip it or is that too personal? We're like, and here's Chris. Okay, anyways, we might put our picks from Halloween. Maybe not. Chris: Nobody looked as good as Dorinda in her custom Gaga outfit. Mind you, from the man on NSL. Casey: NSL Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Andy Samlerg, Andy Adam Samlerg. She like literally goes off the beaten path with the names of both the show and the one who was wearing it, which was Andy Samberg. And we'll post a little pic of him. It actually is, it's a spot on costume. Do I think it was made by the same person? I don't know about that, but it's pretty close. Chris: Yeah. Leave Woman. Casey: ⁓ my God, thank you for holding me accountable. You're right. And I believe her. And actually all the women look great. So, Claryl is like Amelia Earhart. She looks all right. Ramona looks pretty T as Britney Spears. Chris: Yeah. Ramona looks god damn phenomenal. She looks 12. Casey: Yeah, Bethany looks good too. She's like Barbie. She has big blonde hair. She's in a pink cute outfit Tinsley's Madonna also looking cute as usual and then Luan comes in in her sky-towering Afro wig and let's go with overly bronzed skin Because that's probably the white the right the white way the right way to describe that Chris: you you Casey: Huh! Chris: You know, I look at her and there is one Beyonce song that plays from the Lion King movie that she did. Brown skin girl. That's what she was feeling. Casey: Your skin just like pearls. Yeah, and like the women talk about it both like I think in some confessionals and later and they're like, it's bordering on offensive for sure. it's, it's, it's toeing that line. But nobody says that to her when she's there. Chris: No. Here's the thing, Haru is kind of just like when she walks in. Casey: All of them, all of them are like, ⁓ wow. But they ultimately like it. when Ramona is super complimentary of it, Bethany super complimentary of it, nobody says a word to her there. Chris: I'm ⁓ Ramona likes the costume, who's shocked? Casey: It's true. But, you know, we love our Lou. We'll look past it. She didn't go full fully bad. So we'll we'll let it slide while acknowledging that it sucks. Chris: I understand that her intention was to honor. Casey: Yes. Chris: maybe miss the mark. And by maybe I mean miss the mark. Casey: Yes. Yes. And this is a fun little party. Nothing too like dramatic or interesting really goes on. They all just kind of kiki. Dorinda has to leave pretty early because she is so hammered. Rhee, the NSL, Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, confusion. ⁓ So we kind of move on from this party. Everyone has a good night. ⁓ Chris: ⁓ you didn't like. Casey: Everyone's pretty happy about that. We're gearing up to go on a little Hamptons trip and we start to see some of the cracks in the Bethany Carroll house because there's a conversation about like, where is everyone staying? And Carol's like, I always stay with Bethany. I assume I'm going to stay with Bethany. And then she says that. then somewhere like from then to the time that they actually go, she ends up staying with Tinsley. So. Bethany is like, I understand this. I have a kid, I have other stuff going on. Tinsley's in a really nice hotel again, obviously. So I get it. So it's not a huge issue, but it's a crack in the foundation. We're seeing that. The termites are going in the walls. We're starting to have some issues. Chris: like it wouldn't be weird if we hadn't had this whole comment about how, I usually stay at Bethany's. Casey: Right. Like it was on camera her being like, I'm staying there. I always do that. Like there was never any discussion. So again, it's that feeling of like, what are we missing that isn't fully being explained? Like, cause they're, they're not friends. Like at the start of the season already, but they're pretending like it's kind of fine, even though it's obviously not. And the women start picking up on this quickly too. Like they're like, what is the vibe here? It's definitely off. Chris: And I think that also says a lot about how this cast was very authentic with their relationships that they can see when a relationship is phony at that moment. They're like, what are we doing here? Casey: It's true, it's so true. Cause even when their relationships aren't like amazing, like Bethany Luanne, like even if they have fun together, they're not gonna be like, now we're best friends. Like the next day they'll still be like, I don't fuck with her, but we can have a good time. It's like, be there for each other. ⁓ But we get to the Hamptons. ⁓ Everything is like. Chris: Yeah. Casey: again, kind of brewing. We had just kind of passed. I guess we're going to skip right over it because it's a snooze fest. But Carol's running the marathon. This is a big thing in Carol's life. And, you know, this is a reality TV show and it represents our reality well that we all know someone who is annoying about running a race. And God love to you all because I couldn't do it. So I respect you. But for the rest of us plebes. We all have someone that talks a little bit too much about running. And this is Carol right now. Chris: Can I say something? Casey: Yeah? What, are you like a runner? Did I not know this? Chris: think about doing a marathon all the time just so I could post a photo of me and Carol Radzolow side by side. Casey: ⁓ my God, think you know someone, you think you know that they're not a marathon runner, then they say that they're thinking about... Chris: I'm not a marathon runner, but I also... Casey: I really don't know if I can take you becoming one. Like, I'm getting emotional. Chris: Would you at least come cheer me on? Casey: Yeah, of course I would, of course I would. I literally am like, ⁓ my God, I'm shocked right now. I thought you were about to be like, I run all the time. Like I love doing races. And that would have been really scary for me. ⁓ thank God. Chris: The tears in your eyes. ⁓ I... I've never run outdoors in my life. No you- Casey: ⁓ But yeah, there's like a little bit of tension over this marathon because Carol is annoyed that Bethany isn't super supportive Bethany doesn't come the only one who comes is is Tinsley she's there and she's like out there in the cold and she's there the whole time the rest of them do not show up Sonya literally she ran by Sonya's house and Sonya did not come out so They weren't cuffing the girls, but the only one that she's really mad about not coming and not acknowledging it in the way that she would have liked is Bethany. So again, another like brick off the house. ⁓ And that spills over. Chris: That's one of you. I will say this, I personally, when I had first watched it, was shocked that Dorinda didn't come because I had always considered Carolyn Dorinda to be close. Casey: Yeah. That's true, I didn't even really think about that. ⁓ Also, Hala Heather is there, but she's running and she's not on the show, so that's just a little cameo. But she's the only other one that's there. And Carol, she does it, she does the damn thing, she finishes. And like I guess I too would probably be like if only one of my friends showed up I'd probably be like yeah This is probably my my top girl at the moment like she came so Tinsley Carroll does make a little sense ⁓ And in the ⁓ you don't agree. You don't think their friendship makes sense Chris: Yeah. wouldn't say that. don't think their friendship makes sense at all, and I think it's a perfect example of friendship versus alliance on this show. I don't think... Casey: Okay, yeah, I could see that. Do we know if they still are in touch at all? Was it total, did that just dissolve? Yeah. Chris: I don't think so at all. I don't think Tinsley ever had any friends on that show. I think she had allies. Sonja was an ally for her first season, then she had Carol, then she had Leah, and then she left. Casey: ⁓ yeah. Yeah. Well, I don't know. At least that was a nice thing that they had for each other. Because I mean, I guess you're right. think like it is definitely like a little strange. Bethany thinks it's strange. Like she's like, I don't understand this friendship at all. Like I, she definitely sees it as more of an alliance. ⁓ But yeah, for the most part, this stays dormant. Like they don't really get into too many arguments while they're there about like the Bethany Carroll Tinsley of it all, who does get an argument that's kind of the center of the beginning of this season is everyone kind of starts off like mad at Sonya. Everyone is like she, her life is so not together. She's a mess. She says mean things and pretends like she's happy go lucky and nice. But Dorinda and Tinsley are are mad at Sonya big time. Like it's a, it's kind of a double, a double duo thing. And Carol is definitely backing them. Bethany is backing Sonya. Luanne's neutral, but probably kind of also backing Sonya. And that's like the group vibe. And we get this fight between Dorinda and Sonya about their husbands that is, is pretty damn iconic. So let's, let's play that clip ⁓ so we can watch that Chris: Roll it! I think my favorite part about that clip is you could see each time it cuts to Dorinda, she's getting more red. Casey: ⁓ She's she's red and Sonya is clearly again like Sonya can't even take this she's like what what is going on? ⁓ And for the most part I mean obviously Dorinda's delivery can be rough, but I do think I agree with her that likes these are Equal experiences like no one's saying that you both didn't go through a loss in your own right but to to say to her or imply to her that she knows the exact same type of pain to Dorinda who like your husband is still alive walking this earth like You guys just chose not to be together I can imagine how that feels to someone who like was with their husband when they died like that's that's a different that's obviously a different thing like I think Chris: It's very much a different sort of history to deal with than what happened to Sonya in Let's Be Real. Dorinda was right. And Sonya's aloofness, like, during this as she's being yelled at, if I was Dorinda, I would have yelled at her ten times harder. would have been even more... Casey: Yeah, it's giving it's giving medicated like it's giving like a little bit like Vicky's and out reunion like Sonya's like what like what do you mean like I we're the same like kind of a little she's very composed which I guess you kind of have to have like a coping strategy in that situation because Dorinda is probably like I think probably the person that I would most fear as an opponent on these shows in her drunk state, like she gets nasty, like drag out nasty, and I'm afraid a little. Chris: Guess, yeah, it would have to be Dorinda because I guess Bethany could be a little scary too, because here's the thing, Bethany delivers with a sort of calmness but intenseness that while Dorinda just feels like some angry drunkard, Bethany feels like a hitman who is gonna make sure you're taken care of by the end of the night. Casey: Okay, yeah, I think that's probably top two. I think I probably have a similar argumentative style to Luanne, so me and Bethany's fight would probably go similarly to them two. Like, a little just like, what do mean, girl? Are you getting laid right now or not? Like, I can't deal. Chris: I say I also have a similar argumentative style to Luan. Casey: Like, whatever. I just had a point, can't do it. And I don't have that type of, like, vitriol. Like, I don't like to cut deep like that. Chris: We are the same in that we are not ever really in the mood to argue because we don't like spending our energy on that. And well, we are the epitome of that, and many have said this. Casey: because we're so classy and joyful and special. ⁓ It's so true. And this, Dorinda moment, births, births the say it, forget it, write it, regret it moment because Sonya gets mad. Chris: It's just... Casey: at Ramona for not sticking up for her. She says that like her argument is like Ramona knows me and knows me well and knows what I've been through and she should have stuck up and said Sonia went through a lot of pain and it's like, you know, it's the same thing. like Ramona's like, no girl, like I was not going to do that. And Sonia starts firing off texts to Ramona as I think some to Dorinda to just being like, like no. I'm pissed. So everyone's still mad at her. It ultimately like fizzles. They really don't resolve it and they kind of just all move on to Bethany sort of. So it gets kind of displaced. Chris: Well, that always ends up happening, I feel like, with a lot of these women's fights, specifically in the sense of Ramona, Sonya, Dorinda, Luan fights. With those four, I feel like two of them are always arguing with each other, and it eventually just fizzles out, and they're like, girl, come here. Casey: Right. And that's what we love about New York is that they don't harp on stuff too much and they can move on. And it's not like, I won't film with her after like one argument that never happens. yeah, Sonya's public enemy number one for like a good first couple of chunks of the episode. And then at a point it shifts over to Bethany. ⁓ I'd say like another notable event. We're in the Hamptons for a little bit. There are some cute, cute dinners. ⁓ Dorinda and Tinsley pretty much go at Sonya. ⁓ again and again and again, ⁓ calling her a hoe bag and all that good stuff. And then the next bit of conflict that we kind of have is, I guess I'll jump over to, we'll mention that Tinsley gets back with her man, her mid, her mid man. That's how I'd like, that's how I think of him. He's like fine, like. Chris: Mm-hmm. ⁓ yes. And Tim's like some gorgeous girl, I don't really get what she's doing, but hey, whatever yucks you're yum, I know I can't speak. Casey: Right, so they get back together. ⁓ So we know we're gonna lose her sometime soon, not now, but we know that that's coming. ⁓ Okay, let's focus on Dorinda for a minute because this season and I think a little bit next season is when we get Dorinda at her peak, like slurring and peak drunk and... Chris: ⁓ peak and suddenly. Casey: Yeah, and so one of the things that's going on during this season is Bethany has her charity efforts to help out. Puerto Rico ⁓ and she's doing a ton of charity ⁓ engagements and organizing and going there a bunch. And she says like, ⁓ like I'm going to invite Dorinda. I feel like she has like this interest in it and like she has that level of care for people. And I think she'd be a good person to come on a trip with me. And it all seems good. Dorinda's all interested. Like she's super excited. And so they go to Miami to like get ready to leave and it all goes to hell. Chris: We need to a second though to recognize how important it is for Bethany to be doing that because Bethany had definitely always viewed this as a job, which is why going back to her and Carol, why that sort of rift cuts deep, more deep than other sort of fights on this show. But Bethany doesn't really fraternize with her coworkers. Casey: Yeah. Chris: So for her to bring Dorinda into something so personal like this, like yes they were filming, I think it does show that Bethany really did care about Dorinda and had like a true friendship for her. Casey: I agree, and I think you can sense that from some of them. I think Bethany felt that way about Carol and Ramona in this group. or sorry, Carol and Dorinda, meant, not Ramona. I think Bethany... Sorry, no, I think Bethany feels like her and Carol and her and Dorinda have... Chris: I was gonna say, I don't know if she felt that about Ramona, I think she... Casey: real friendships. do think the Bethany Dorinda of it all falls apart almost alongside Carol, but they kind of have have some resolution at the at the reunion versus like Bethany obviously doesn't have that with Carol. But it's like, again, like we have a huge falling out between Bethany and Carol, but there are a bunch of little falling outs happening all over the map, too. Like it radiates outwards, their argument to everybody else. Chris: Because it's like you said earlier, it becomes a proxy war. Casey: Yeah, and so they're in Miami, they're gearing up to go, everything's going well, Bethany is briefing her on the trip and all that good stuff, and she's like, all right, we're gonna go out to dinner with some of ⁓ the other partners of mine, other people that have huge efforts invested into Puerto Rico and other charitable engagements of similar natures. And Dorinda's like, great, and they get to dinner. And the first thing, Dorinda is already drunk. Like you can tell she's already drunk. She must have been drinking in her hotel room or gone to the bar. And the first thing she says to these men is like, you started drinking without us. Like, how dare you? And she sounds mad. Like she literally sounds mad. Like she has never met these people. okay. So we already know we're like about to dive in. Bethany immediately is like. Chris: What? Casey: Okay, here we go. And it's horrible. Like it's actually horrible. It's a really bad Dorinda showing. Chris: ⁓ brother. ⁓ my god, you kind of just have to watch it like hand over your eyes just like peeking through two fingers. Casey: Like she's so hammered. She's sticking her hands in food like in the middle of the table. It's like an like an Asian like style restaurant with like bigger plates like is what it looks like and she's like just sticking her hands into it while she's talking. It's it's not it's really it's classless. It is but and this one of the men there is talking about a lot of the things that he's done not only for PR but for Haiti and to Rinda like. Chris: That's mad speed. Casey: gets so confrontational with him for no reason. Like she's pissed. She's like, Haiti, what do you mean Haiti? Like you, I used to go to Haiti with Richard. Like me and Richard did tons of stuff. Like I know Haiti and the guy. Chris: today. Casey: is, you know, uncomfortable. He's like, I don't know what you've done, but I go there all the time. Like, I've been there. And Bethany's like, Dorinda, like, you got to stop. And I'll just play a clip because I don't even really know how to, like, convey the expression on all their faces. So let's let's play this. College. The kids going, I don't think kids are going to college in Haiti. Chris: have these. Just trying to diffuse the situation and Dorinda immediately whipped her head at her. Don't do that. Casey: Don't do that, don't do that. And she's like, I'm not doing it. Like you're doing it. And honestly, I feel Bethany in this scene because if you've ever been around someone or interacted with someone who gets angry when they're drunk, it's exactly like that. Like you can be doing literally nothing and you're like, they're like, you gotta stop. And you're like, it's not, it's not me. I'm... Chris: You are! Not even just angry though, when you have someone at a level of intoxication that you now feel responsible for every action. ⁓ my God, especially when you're bringing them around new people. And it's not like that. Casey: Well, and in this setting, these are respectable, charitable people. How embarrassing. Chris: Yeah, it's not like old friends with Bethany's. No, these are people doing important work and you're getting drunk on a reality show and fighting with your friends. While that's important work to me, on a scale of importance, ⁓ you know. Casey: Right, right. And I like feel bad for Bethany here because she says it too. Like she even says to Dorinda, like these people are doing nothing but good. Like they're all, these are all just a table of individuals who are just trying to help people. Like, come on, like this is too much. And it's, I think it's a good, not a good thing, but it's a good example of like Dorinda's drink. and the way she gets isn't restricted to the women. It's not restricted to people she has a problem with. Like it's just, it's the nature of the beast. Like it doesn't have anything really to even do with who's around. Like it could just happen regardless. So yeah, and honestly, Bethany is like really understanding about this. They talk about it the next day and it's kind of a non. Chris: believes in equality. Casey: issue? Like, and she says to her at the dinner table, she's like, just don't come. Like, if you're gonna act like this, like, do not, you know, do not come like that, that video, like, do not come. And there's a minute where it's kind of like, is she gonna come or not? But they get through it. But I, if I were Bethany, I would have been a lot more angry with her. Chris: It is crazy how...con Bethany's response was to the whole situation, which goes back to what I said earlier about you could see that Bethany does have true friendship in Dorinda and there's concern there more than there is anger, but we usually would see Bethany like firing back like at Dorinda saying some nasty nasty things. Casey: I know, and I was thinking about it and I wonder too if just like, maybe just the Carol of it all was like taking all of her fighting spirit like in concentration so she just couldn't like bring her usual. daggers to it, because like, I mean, I think about the way that she's talked to Luanne in certain situations over pretty similar dynamics, and it's not, it's not that way. Like, Dorinda definitely got a different approach than others would, whether it's because of friendship or maybe a little bit because she kind of has a lot going on right now. I think it's probably a mix of the two, because like that was objectively bad, like, and that's bad in like a bigger way. Like, it's not like it's just the women. That could have an actual consequence on her. business and her reputation and her a ton of stuff. Chris: think there's also because there's bigger stakes in this, Bethany wanted to approach it in a lens of, hey, let's bring it from here to here instead of, since you're bringing it up to level 10, I'm gonna meet you at level 11. Casey: Right. Yeah, no, and I guess that makes sense too. Like, I guess if you're with someone of that personality type, you kind of do just have to deescalate it too, because you're not gonna win if you really go head to head. ⁓ But yeah, that all ends up fine, surprisingly, and it doesn't really carry over into the rest of the group. ⁓ And we kind of return back again, Bethany has to devote her energy to the biggest problem, which is Carol. And as we kind of get to the middle of the season here, it's ramping up. It's reaching a damn near peak, I'd say, not quite, but close. So we get to a dinner scene where I believe it's all of the women. actually don't think... Chris: Yeah. Casey: Dorinda is, ⁓ no, Dorinda's there. So all the women are at dinner and ⁓ it's announced that they're gonna go to the Berkshire soon, but right now they're still in New York, I believe, at this dinner. Chris: Yeah, that's all. Casey: Tinsley, Bethany, and Carol and Sonya are fighting. It's this proxy war at its height. It's very much like you can tell that both Carol and Bethany are bringing their resentment of each other into other people and like they don't actually care about Tinsley and Sonya. Like, and honestly, they're mostly fine at this point. So it's all kind of BS. But at this dinner, Ramona tells Bethany... ⁓ no, Ramona tells Carol that Bethany called her a puppet. Bethany said, Carol just defends whoever she's closest to at the time, blindly. Like she doesn't have her own voice. She will, you know, be a puppet of Ramona, a puppet of Mia, now a puppet of Tinsley. And she does say puppet, but when Ramona tells Carol this, Carol's like, no way. Bethany wouldn't say that about me. So that gets brought up at this dinner, and Bethany's like, I didn't say that. She did, but she doesn't remember it. And this is when Carol's like, I'm ride or die, honey. Like, I'm a good friend, so I don't know why you're trying to clock me. And at this point, the other women are all on to what's happening. Like, Luan, Ramona, Dorinda, you can tell them watching this that they're like, wait a minute. Like, what the hell is going on here? ⁓ And I think even Luanne is like, she's sitting there and she's like, ⁓ my god, this is a purging. Like they are like getting it all out right now. ⁓ And I'm like, yeah, like, so now it's kind of becoming a group awkward thing. Chris: Isn't this also when, ⁓ Carol or Bethany brings up, cause I forget which one, like they never answered the others texts. Is this that? Yes. Casey: Yes. Well, so that there's like, there's multiple miss texts. Because one of them so originally we have a miss text about the marathon. That's like way back. And then there's another mix miss text. think Bethany reaches out to Carol and is like, Hi, like, I want to work things out. Like you've been really cold and Carol is like, I'm not like that's too much. So there's a lot of like conversation attempts between the two of them. But Chris: Because you want Bethany pulling the phone out at the dinner table shoving it across, look, see, see? Casey: and there's beef about what's his name. ⁓ Adam, the Adam of it all is an issue. That's, sorry, that's what it is right now because Bethany reached out to Adam to like cook and photograph a event she was doing. Chris: ⁓ yes! Well, how is the thing that happened between the seasons? Casey: Yeah, okay, yeah. So it's about, let's mention it all about the Adam of it all, Carol's young man. Because at this season, are, at this point, they're still together, but they're like open, because they've had these conversations of, you know, he wants kids and a family and like, she's not gonna give that to him at this stage in her life. So they've kind of decided like, we'll still see each other. But if you find somebody or if I find somebody else like, Chris: Yeah. Casey: we'll be fine with that, even though like Carol clearly wouldn't be, but that's where they're at. So it's kind of weird, but yeah, Bethany reaches out to Adam to help at an event in Houston that she's doing for the charity efforts to both, I think, do photography and like maybe cook or do like some of the other stuff. I don't really know. ⁓ And he originally is a yes, but then becomes a no. And that's a big issue. And Bethany felt like it was like really not charitable, that like he pulled out because he had something better. And there's this kind of back and forth of Adams, like I have to get paid. Like, I can't just go a week of my life without work, like without being like, I want to help. Like something else came up with a client and like that's what I had to do. And that's what Carol tells Bethany. But again, it's like This doesn't really feel like the real issue. Like it feels like they're just both holding onto this because they want to fight or like want to not be friends. It's very strange. I think Carol's weird about Adam. I think she's always weird about Adam. Like I find him annoying. Chris: think that was probably like the match that sparked their little feud. And then as that happened, I could have seen Carol like sitting there and mulling and being like, and Bethany did this too and I always didn't like that thing. And then I could see that leading to her being distant, which then would make Bethany upset. and Bethany to do the same thing of, Gals puppet, know, Bethany does. Casey: Right, no, I agree. So yeah, he's an issue. I mean, he's an issue with everybody. He's an issue between Carol and Luann. that's their issue. Now it's an issue with Bethany. And it's like, this isn't even your guy. Like this isn't even gonna be your person. Like let it go, honestly. I don't know. It's just kinda like, and honestly, I'll say it. Chris: Luan. And we all have that one. Casey: fine but I'll say this because the only person who really has a right to judge her about the Adam stuff is Luan like Carol acts like she has no right to be mad about this but like she did meet him at Luan's house when he was there with Luan's niece like that's a little like I think if that was me, I'd be like, girl, that was my niece's friend. Like, come on now. And if I was said niece, I'd be like, Aunt Luanne, like, are you for real? Like, you let my friend get snatched up by your friend Carol? Like, what? Chris: The other idea of Aunt Luan. I'm sorry. Casey: Auntie Lou, how did you let my crush Adam start effing your friend Carol? Like, how did you let that occur? Chris: Since I'm Greek, it would be Thealu. Casey: Ooh, Tia. Tialou would be Spanish. ⁓ but yeah, I, I like, again, I kind of understand, maybe it's not like cool to call her a pedophile, but I understand why Luan isn't game with this match. And I don't know why Carol was always so bothered. Like if I were me, I'd probably be like, yeah, if anyone's allowed to be a little bothered, fair enough. Again, like accept the consequences of your actions. Like that's just, you met him at her house. Like just take it on the chin. Yeah. but. Chris: Just make it with like a tip on your shoulder, you know? Casey: Yeah, so the women are on to this Carol Bethany fight. They still haven't really gotten into like the meat of it all, but we're, we're, we're towing in the waters now. The Adam stuff has been broached. They're clearly arguing. The puppet comment is out there now and that was a big deal to Carol, but put a pin in it. We're going to the Berkshires. Dorinda tells them, I'd love to have you all up. Chris: Hey, hey, hey. Casey: for a murder mystery night and a little holiday cheer. And they are like, hells yeah, Dorinda, we can't wait, we're going to the Berkshires. And it's Christmas, it's Christmas in the Berkshires, which we love. Dorinda is doing her beautiful decorating, over the top decorating. I love her. Chris: Hell yeah. Casey: so much in these moments like this is what contrasts her really scary slurinda is the beautiful kind whimsy in her heart darinda like she probably spends so much time decorating that home she's so sweet it looks so good Chris: Yes. love how much out that home actually. Like the fish re- Casey: I just like watching her decorate, was like, I would love that. Like that is like my dream life as an older woman. Like my manner that I can decorate to my heart's content with bullshit. Like, wow. Woo. I'm like, I have chills. Like. Chris: Yeah. ⁓ That's kind of all I need in this life of sin. Casey: Ooh. And yeah. Chris: How do you not? Allah neen in this life is- ⁓ nevermind copyright. Casey: ⁓ yeah! ⁓ We can't afford that, we're new around here. ⁓ But yeah, it looks amazing, there's so much stuff, it looks like a bazaar, it's insane. ⁓ You know, like a holiday bazaar, do they still have those? Yeah, yeah. Chris: Cut the, cut the traffic. It looks like a bit- Yeah... I don't know if they still have them, but yeah. Casey: I follow someone on Instagram who like would love that I just brought up a holiday bizarre, that's besides the point. Her name's Frankie and she like loves... Chris: Let's get him in the car! Casey: And she also do a video for afterwards and she loves like random stuff like as she was is going to like estate sales Anyways back on back on trial topic. I'm said tropic ⁓ The murder mystery party is also everything like more more whimsy in your heart Like what a good idea more housewives should always be doing stupid Bullshit games like this. It just makes everything funnier costumes always make everything better, too Chris: Yes. Come on, mean, Carol's fuck-ass Bob is so insane and so severe. Casey: So. I love the characters they give them too, because Dorinda tells them this at the pre-dinner before they get there, and she's like... All right, and they're all opening their cards in Luanne's like, I'm gonna be Jeannie Minaj. And I'm like, ooh, and Dorinda's character forget the name. ⁓ Tammy Temperance is prohibition like is like anti alcohol. Like, so it's like, they're like, kind of poking fun at them. Carol's is like, a like political girly like, and Bethany is like, we're clearly all these characters, but they start. The game. Luan is super late, like I think Tinsley's pretty late, like the murder men, the murder men are there. There are like three murder men. And they're downstairs. Chris: You know what? You love them. It's the murder ⁓ Casey: And they're trying to explain the game, but women keep coming down the stairs late every like two minutes. They're probably like, we have to this show on the road, ladies. Like we're in the middle of fucking nowhere. And there's like a butler and like two investigators and pretty quickly the investigators like die, both of them. And the women are so drunk that they're not playing this game, like at all. They're just having a key. They're like complaining, they're sitting at the table. Bethany's like, this butler is shit. Like, can I get a drink? Like, he's not a real butler. He's a part of the murder game. Chris: on camera. Hey, he don't work here. Casey: So yeah, he's shit. He's about to like come over and be like, I'm a cop. Like, let's investigate this murder. And that's exactly what he does. He's like, I'm not a butler at all. He's like, I'm an investigator. Like, we're gonna figure out who's gonna do this murder. And that's when like you'd get into like the part of the game where everyone would debate. But Dorinda just goes, it's me. I killed him. I killed both of them. She literally goes, okay, it's me. Chris: I'm an un-eagle. She said, let's wrap it up. Casey: And I killed him because they want alcohol gone and I want alcohol and let's- I'm done with this game, I'm hungry. Chris: What a crazy crazy statement for her to go. Yeah, I killed him because they wanted all the alcohol gone. Sue me! Casey: And the butler cop is like, yeah, it was her. Like that was the game. Like I guess you won because nobody guessed that you were the murderer. Like, what do mean won? Of course no one guessed anyone once. Like there was no guessing. They were literally just waiting for dinner. It was a huge fail, but I do kind of like resonate with Dorinda doing that. Cause I'd probably be the same way. Like, ⁓ my God, like, can we just eat? And now I'm drunk. Like you guys can go now. Like we're in the costumes. Chris: Saving your scratch of his head. I love most of all that it was her idea. Casey: Yeah, and it cuts right after her literally ruining the game to a confessional of her being like, I'm really glad we did this. It was something fun and something different for us. Well, it was. It was different, for sure. Besides the fact that you guys were all still just blackout drunk in the Berkshires. So it actually wasn't different. Fun, yes. Chris: It was different because we were in some costumes and wigs. Casey: And Luanne has like a French accent on all night, which is fun because we love her accents and Bethany even says like, she's never going to miss a time to bring out that accent. ⁓ And so they're into their characters. It's silly fun. ⁓ I think it's. Chris: I love when she puts an accent on. No. Well, Luanne loves playing with form and you give her a bit, she's gonna come in. Casey: It's so true. And she's in good spirits, Luanne, again, the ID gaff queen. Like, there's arguments start breaking out and Luanne is like hammered and is, you really, you can't shake her. ⁓ But after all the murder men leave and the game is over, they're all still sitting at the dinner table, still very drunk. We get back into the- Adam of it all. It's so stupid. ⁓ They're going back and forth between like such small details like they're going back and forth of like I texted you about Adam on this Tuesday and Carol's like no it was a Sunday and Bethany's like no it was a Monday at four and it's so ⁓ like minute like minute details Chris: ⁓ yes. Casey: And it's so dumb and I think even all the women are like you guys are not getting to like the real issue You're just talking about surface level stuff to avoid like saying whatever it actually is That is making you both so mad, which is clearly the case and they are still not doing that Chris: And why are they both avoiding addressing whatever the real issue is? Because when you think about it, they don't actually ever address it. Casey: No. Like we- I still- If someone was like, tell me what it was really about, I still really couldn't say. Chris: late or at a higher time. Yeah. Casey: Like it just, to me, and I honestly, this time around, I'm actually more sympathetic to Bethany than I was the first time, because I think I love Carol. And like when I watch it all, when you watch all the seasons in a row, like you have like your preconceived notions from the earlier seasons, but when you revisit and you just watch one, you don't like kind of carry as much. Baggage like of course I do for Luann because that's my number one girl But the rest of them like it's not doesn't stick as much so I think watching it fresh I feel bad for Bethany because to me this time it feels like she More sincerely wants to keep their friendship than Carol like to me. It's giving Carol wants out and is picking fights over Chris: Yes. Casey: little shit because for whatever reason she wants out, I think a bigger reason. So there are moments where I think Bethany's being genuine. Go ahead. Chris: And I don't think that Carol is invalid for wanting Elle. Like, at all. I just think that Bethany really hasn't had many real friends. And this is the first time someone is dropping her instead of her dropping them. and she's not really knowing how to deal with it. And I feel bad for her, of course, but at the end of the day, I don't really think either of them did anything wrong. Casey: No. I don't, I mean, we don't know. Like maybe they did, but we just don't know what they could have done wrong. But yeah, I feel like there are moments where Bethany is genuinely kind of break, not breaking down, but breaking it down. Like the conflict and is trying to be like, I really care about you. Like, I don't know what's going on. And Carol will hit her with like, I don't give a fuck. So I'm I this time around felt more for Bethany on my first couple. I definitely was Ryder. I was Ryder Diahani for Carol because I love her. I do like her overall much more than I like Bethany. But this rewatch, some of the stuff with Bethany at this at these few episodes feels a little bit like they were all so excited to kind of finally have a moment where Bethany was the down one in the group that everyone kind of just like was like, yeah. Chris: Yeah. Yeah. Casey: Like, yes, like, let's go. It's kind of like the concept of like when there's like a riot in the streets or like a protest and other people just kind of go out and start adding to the havoc because it's like the group think, like it's like, ah, it's like, do you even like know why you're joining? Like, no, but we're looting, we're stealing. Like that's the vibe of the group. It's like, is, Carol. Chris: It's crazy how much they all hated Bethany. Yeah. Hi everyone. They just say, we heard about Bethany and I'm here. Casey: took the first shot and they all heard it and were like, let's go. Like we are ready to go. ⁓ Cause what emerges while we're here that I think again on rewatch, I feel a little bad for Bethany is the nutcracker beef. Bethany when she shows up to the Berkshires tells Dorinda. Chris: Gosh. Casey: Hey, like, do you have a contact at FAO Schwartz, which is like the bougie toy store in New York? They have a huge store. It's like fun during the holidays to go into. Yes. And Bethany is like, we were there. We saw this life-size Nutcracker. Brynn wanted it so bad. And we turned around and it was gone. And I know you know someone. I guess Dorinda knows people in the toy industry. Chris: gorgeous. mean, Dorinda knows everyone. Casey: Can you help me find the nutcracker? And Dorinda is like, of course. Let me get my people on it. We will find it. Chris: Pyramid said don't ask me no stupid question. Yeah Casey: So clearly she does have connections in the toy world. We kind of like, we know the search is on, we're waiting. We leave the Berkshires. ⁓ actually I have a couple more things to say about the Berkshires and then we'll leave the Berkshires. But one point that comes up. Chris: stuff. Casey: that Carol just kind of like throws in, which again, adds to my theory that she's just kind of done and is just throwing shit to see what sticks. She goes while they're fighting at the table in still costume. She's like, and you called Luan a loser. Remember when you texted me and called Luan a loser? And she's just like saying it was in the same. Chris: She's my best friend, Luan. Casey: She's just like saying it was like in the same like vein of conversation like that's how she tried to tie it in was like it was the same day that you called the way in a loser and drunk Luanne is like loser did you just say loser and actually like this is one of I I Have neglected this moment, but I honestly would put it in one of my top Luanne responses. So let's let's play. Let's roll. Let's roll the tape Chris: you I love her in the confessional almost breaking the fourth wall and talking to the audience and going if I'm a loser then Casey: Then take a look inside, honey, because what are you doing? You're watching me on TV. So what is that saying? What is she saying about y'all? She's trying to turn it around to be like, Bethany just insulted all of you. Chris: Yeah. that he has been talking about you guys. Casey: Cause if I'm a loser, what are you plebes? Like... Chris: It's crazy. Casey: And it's kind of true, I agree. I'm like, Luann is not, Luann's a loser then what am I? Chris: I fully agree. Really? You can not call Luan a loser. You just can. Casey: Ignore ignore everything about her beyond the fact that she looks so goddamn good all the time She looks good in season one. She looks good from season one through season 13 or whatever it is. She looks good today That's not loser behavior No, and that's just that's objective Chris: No. Come on, baby. Casey: And honestly, that's sidebar. That's why it pisses me off so bad how they're always, I get it. It's like they're like little funny gag, like little man, like she's a drag queen, she's a man. Like stay mad that a tall, beautiful stallion of a woman is in your midst. Like. Chris: Like, we need to get her on more runways. Casey: And people do that to tall women all the time. So like as a tall woman, it bugs me specifically when they do it. Cause it's like, what, just cause she's five, nine? I don't even think Luann is like that, like extra tall. Like I met Luann, Luann and I are the same height. Like, so I, it does kind of like, Hey, leave my sister alone. Back off. Chris: No. Yum. ⁓ What's going on? Casey: me a little bit, but you know, like Luan is not a loser, but I do love that response because I honestly, unironically, that's a role model to me. Like, yes, like, ⁓ you want to call me a loser? Like that's literally crazy. Like that's just not who I am. I think I'm awesome. And if you really feel that way, then you got to start with all the other losers before me and then you can get to me, but. Chris: Yes! It's because there's a level of confidence that I think everybody should have in themselves. Casey: Exactly. And that's what I mean. Like it genuinely is you can laugh. But like that level of of delusion and confidence, even if yet delusion carries a negative connotation, but I don't give it that in my own life because they would call that delusional. They would call that overconfident. Some might call it arrogant, but she moved on from a conflict, didn't get involved, didn't get mad at anybody because she has a secure opinion of self. Like she's like, girls, that's ridiculous. Like Chris: Yeah. Casey: It's not a big deal to me. Like, she's annoyed, but it's really not gonna affect her internally. Chris: She flies above all the haters. Casey: I fly above. The way I just knew that song would not whatever one you referenced earlier. Chris: Bye bye. Me, okay. Casey: Okay, Berkshires. Yeah, that's like the Luan loser thing is the end of that. Dorinda. I guess Dorinda's birthday is coming up because we kind of end all the fighting. Bethany's done. Like she's like, I'm going to bed. But Dorinda comes out with a birthday cake and it's like, happy birthday to me. And she literally sticks her head in the flaming candles. Chris: So I actually think about this quite a lot because I'm like to no part of her burn at all. Casey: She says it affected her hairline in a confessional. She says it singed her a little bit and that she has a slightly different hairline because I was wondering that too. And yeah, the moment is like, what's the word? Spliced with a confessional of her talking about it. And she's like, I had to do something to make these girls laugh because it was tense. And I just thought, let me shove my face in the cake, but I didn't think about the open flame. Chris: Mmm, mmm, right, right. And she has this absurdly psychotic smile after she lifts her head up every time from the cake. look at me! Woo! Casey: It's pure bliss. It's bliss. And everyone's like, ⁓ my God, and the flames are like still half lit. Some of them are out. Like her hair's a little messed up. They are laughing. It did work. I mean, I was laughing. But I appreciate Dorinda in like that way. Like sometimes she's an angry drunk, but sometimes she's the one that's like, I just gotta be silly and bring everybody back to Earth. And that does bring everybody back to Earth. I think Bethany and Kira will like go to bed, but. Chris: Hey, Tom. She's fun. I mean, that's right. Casey: But the rest of the women have a great time. Luanne and Sonia are dry humping, Tinsley and Ramona jump on top of them. Vibes are high for the rest of the girls. Carol and Bethany are in miserable town and went to bed, but whatever. There's like this weird little ⁓ party in between when they get home. Luanne has an event with the Red Cross to donate blood. But as it turns out, all of them had been to Mexico within the last year, and I guess that means you can't donate blood. she has this event, most of the women come, none of them can donate blood. So it's all for just show. They're like, yay, like we're all here. ⁓ Whatever. And at this event slash. Chris: No. Not me. Casey: There was like a little meetup in the city with the girls and Ramona announces or kind of re brings up that she's starting a skincare line. She's going to start ⁓ or like a new product or something. And so they have like a little gift swap between them all, like a secret. or like a white elephant, like when you steal it. ⁓ And Ramona gets a product in the game and she's like, ⁓ it's skincare. Like, this is good for me, like, because I'm actually going to start a product. And they're all like, ⁓ like, that's such a good idea. Like, you look so good. Like you your skin looks so great, which it does. She's, you know, one of the older ones of the group and she looks phenomenal. Chris: mean, one of my favorite Ramona singer quotes is, not sure, I think it actually might be from season 11, but when she sings to Tinsley, I look good for my age and you look bad for your age. Casey: so good. She's like doing that little like I do love that one too. That when I first watched that that was stuck in my head for like months and months and months and months. Like I know if I watched the clip a couple times. Yeah, there it goes. ⁓ But yeah, there's like a little like banter about the skincare line. Luan. Chris: And it is truthful. Not about Team Fleet. It still gets stuck in my head. Casey: gets in the gift exchange, like a beauty blender cleaner and is pissed. She's like, I don't even know what this is. So Ramona goes, ⁓ I'll switch with you because you have, ⁓ I have like the skincare, but I already know about skincare, like, cause I'm starting a line. And Bethany, and Bethany is like, are you doing an infomercial right now? Which everyone is kind of like. Chris: She's had some data. Casey: Why are you saying this to her? And again, I don't think anyone would be mad about this if they weren't so like, rah rah, take down Bethany right now. It was just another thing that all the girls kind of jumped on as like, why aren't you being supportive of Ramona? But I do agree with them. If anyone should not be commenting on like promoting products within the group or on the show, it should obviously. Chris: absolutely. Come on. Don't throw stones from a glass house. Casey: Like, of all the things, Bethany, you've got to be a little more self-aware. Like, that's not something you can pick on somebody else for. Skinny Girl is on that show more times than Cindy Barshop, more times than most of these women's children. Like, it's a housewife at this point. So don't talk to Ramona about that. But what that gets us is the famous Bethany Ramona phone call on the street corner. Chris: Yeah. ⁓ it's true. ⁓ Casey: And on rewatch, the camera angles of this phone call are so beautiful. They're getting the street. They're getting the dog, the dog walking on the ground. They're getting every angle of Ramona's face. Like, whoa. Chris: It's no matter. I would compare it to the work of one Mr. Christopher Nolan. Casey: And I knew you were gonna say that and I actually was thinking the same thing and I did I did get a recent ⁓ blind blind item from one of our many many podcast listeners that he actually did shoot that scene for them Chris: Thanks. Mmm. I wonder how much they paid him or did he do it for free? Actually, you want to know something? He was just on the street getting some b-roll when he saw Ramona taking a call and said hold on let me get this Casey: I don't- And that's what I was literally, you took the words right out of my mouth because that was the next blind item I got from another loyal podcast listener. But let's take a look see at the phone call at the key points. Chris: Ardacity. Casey: How have you, you're dassy. I need to like do one of those, you know, like the videos where you have the computer open and you're behind it and you're saying like every line of the speech. I need to do one of those with this because I just love the delivery. And the soon as Carol was gone, you talked about her behind her back. Like, yes, get her, get her ass. Chris: Yes. and such amazing facial work from her. Casey: So good. The lighting is good. It's like giving like, it's giving like movie scene of New York City. Like it's giving like, it was like almost tailored even though it looks pretty damn real. Like people are walking around her. Like she's just walking her dog. She's on the phone. It doesn't really seem like a produced scene. Chris: I love the fact that she's taking the call on speaker, yet holding it to her ear as well. Casey: I do the same thing though, I have to be honest about it. I do. I don't answer, I don't take phone calls if it's not on speaker. Like I hate, I hate talking to it against my ear, but sometimes I'll still like have it just to feel. I do too. I know, ⁓ my God, it is. I didn't even think about that. And people will get mad at me. They're like, you're supposed to like tell people when they're on speaker. Like if you're with people, I'm like. Chris: Yes. ⁓ same. I usually hold it out like this, which is very housewives. Casey: Hold on guys, just take a listen. It can't be that, I isn't that serious. Let me know it's a classified phone call if that's case. I have discretion. But yeah, I actually love that clip. I would put that. Chris: No. I just love spreading information, whether it's good or bad. Yes sir! Casey: monologue, because we don't even really hear Bethany all that much. We hear like just a little bit. I call it a monologue. I love it. I think, I don't know about top 10 Housewives moments because that feels too high, but top 20, I think it's in there. Chris: It's definitely top three Ramona moments. Casey: Ooh, really, you think? Chris: Yeah. Casey: I have to like really ponder that, I think. Chris: Ramona? Yeah, I for sure think so. Casey: Maybe so. But yeah, I love it. It's really a classic. that's only what, like 30 seconds of it? It goes on for like a minute 45 and it's all awesome. Like every bit of it is really good. She goes on to be like, another good part of it that is in that clip is she goes on to be like, you know how upset you got Dorinda over the nutcracker when you didn't thank her for that nutcracker? Like she put in a lot of effort for that and you really upset her. Which again. Chris: probably have done. happen. I think. ⁓ Casey: ⁓ I actually didn't even say this. This isn't even again. Let's go back to the Nutcracker because the Nutcracker gets dropped off. I think at that party when they're doing the white elephant. Dorinda finds the Nutcracker. Woohoo! Some random guy like in like a little like suit jacket comes in with it. Who knows who? Maybe he's this toy store guy. I don't know. He comes in with the full. It is like it's a full. It's as tall as him. It's a full. Chris: Yeah, it's a bit nice. She's not people. Casey: body nutcracker. And he comes in with it and he's like, I saved Christmas. And Bethany is freaking out. Like she's jumping around, she's screaming, she falls to the ground, she's big smile. She's like, this saved Christmas, he saved Christmas, he saved Christmas. Like, yay. Chris: So corny. Casey: And we get a flashback of Dorinda like told her that they secured it and it was like on the way in the scene that they don't, you know, when they show a flashback of like they filmed it, but they didn't show it. Yeah. So they show like a little flashback of Bethany also freaking out when Dorinda told her that they had it. Like she's jumping up and down. Thank you so much. Gives her a big hug. The issue on the table. ⁓ God, I just like heard Hamilton in my head. Issue on the table. ⁓ But the issue on the table is that Chris: them. Yeah. Casey: Dorinda doesn't feel like Bethany is thankful enough to her. So in this moment, I guess what Dorinda is saying, it's like you didn't like you were calling this you were saying to this guy like you gave him a big hug. He saved Christmas like whatever you didn't like specifically like come over to Dorinda like Dorinda did this amazing thing for me again. I again, I agree with Bethany on this rewatch. I think she was more than thankful enough. What did what did you want her to do like? Chris: Mm. I agree with you. It's like, are you wanting to kiss your feet and wash them? Casey: Like we have not one moment like I think the moment at the party is enough. Yes She doesn't like specifically be like Dorinda. You are amazing. But again, Dorinda didn't do anything I mean she did it was her contact but was Dorinda herself Haunting the stores and going online and looking for it. No Dorinda had somebody to do that for her Chris: I that Linda was back at Bluestone Manor hand carting the Nutcracker. have sources who DM'd me and told me that. Casey: ⁓ okay, I didn't even know that. I didn't get that one in my DMs. So that's on me. Chris: Yes, it's probably in the requests, that's why. Casey: It's probably in the request. I'll double check after this and just like, you know, align everything. Chris: verified. Casey: But I think that's like a rich person thing. Like they speak about like, did this, even though was like their assistant or like their shopper or their driver, like, which I think is a little elitist because it's like they're not your that wasn't you. Like that was another person, whatever. But that's like Dorinda being like she didn't like come over and like, again, thank me in that moment. But then we get the little flashback where she clearly did think Dorinda, she gave her a big hug. She was jumping up and down like so on multiple occasions, I think. Chris: Yeah. Casey: she's had an appropriate reaction to this. She asked her to do it and was very like, thank you. Like, so it is one of those things I think that the women all were like, let's jump Bethany for the nutcracker thing. Chris: They wanted a Bethany takedown season. Casey: And it's working. It's sort of working. Like everyone is mad at Bethany. ⁓ She isn't in her peak Bethany state. Like she's definitely a little like ⁓ she seems a little more nervous. She seems a little more vulnerable. We have a sit down with her and Carol that kind of ends this first half of the season. ⁓ And there they go to meet up and it. Chris: I'm Casey: It goes okay. It doesn't, it isn't productive. Like they try and get into all of it, but it's very strange. Bethany says, this is another, this was the other mistext that I was saying. Yeah. Chris: Wait, can I ask a question? Cut this out. Is this, Is this where Bethany walks in, she's wearing like a hat and a fur jacket? Is this lunch at the beginning of my edit of them? Okay, because then I'm like... ⁓ yes, yes, yes! Yes, and the beginning scene is her through this... Casey: think it is. I'm pretty sure. Carol's in like a like, Carol's in like a windbreaker. Chris: because that's what I wanted to talk about. You get this opening scene of Carol like through the window, just like sitting down looking at her drink. And it's, again, they really focused on the cinematography this season. Casey: Wait, I honestly might just leave this in because I think I like the authentic beat of like, we're real people, but I actually wanted to bring up your edit because I think with your permission, I should post it on the gram because it really. Chris: I mean, I would've got right ahead of him. Casey: Because I think it really encapsulates the themes that we're discussing and it's such a comprehensive edit. Like it gives modern day version of like the 45 minute edit you'd watch of like Kurt and Blaine on YouTube. You know, like it's like the story of Carol and Bethany but condensed. Chris: Yeah. Yes. Well that was important to me, a little BTS. When making this film, I really wanted to tell a full story and give you guys the full picture. And I think I'm really trying to do that always as an editor, is really finding the story that I'm telling. Casey: And when I first watched that edit for the first time, you sent it to me, but I had this brief moment of forgetting where I saw Chris come up and I thought, ⁓ Chris, my friend Chris Nolan sent me a video. So I watched it and I'm like, ⁓ my God, another fantastic feature film from you, Chris. And then I was like, this is Chris. This is a different Chris. ⁓ my God. Like that's so funny. Like that looks just like my friend C. No, like that looks like his style. Chris: Yes. We do have very similar approaches to our work, and I think it's just because of how close we are that we always are volleying and playing off each other. Casey: was picking up on that big time. But yes, the cinematography is good at this little luncheon. It's like set up to be intense from the get go and this will be kind of like where we left off, where we'll leave off. ⁓ But ridiculous. Chris: Yes. And Bethany was god damn ridiculous walking in. In these giant glasses, this fur coat, this dumb hat. It's like Kyle Richards, okay I need that in my dumb hat. Casey: She takes off the hat and her hair is looking... She takes off the dumb hat and her hair is looking crazy as hell. Like she looks like a little unkempt, as she like kind of often does with the bob style. It's not like actually her best look. It's longer now, but it's still bob-esque. Chris: We have lots of screenshots of her with, she was so happy to look a mess. Casey: I know. ⁓ And this goes okay. They don't leave this in a bad place, but they don't resolve anything either. They try and it doesn't really work. Chris: Well, this is where Bethany is like saying, she's like, you know, we're going point by point, like, and Carol's kinda just sitting there. I feel like not really taking anything in. I feel like Carol is just kinda like, let's get this scene over with. Casey: Right. I agree. I agree completely and I think that's what added to what I was kind of saying about how I feel for Bethany because it's clear that Carol is not really trying to fix it, in my opinion. I think that Bethany is at this point. I don't think that Carol is. Chris: Yeah, he's checked out. Hmm? Casey: ⁓ So it's kind of sad. Like I feel bad when I watch it. Like obviously they were good friends and I think Bethany has these moments at this lunch where she does say she texted her and said, she said, I miss you. Like I really miss you. And like you've been different with me. Like you've been cold. And Carol responded and said, this is a lot. And that's it. And it's like. Chris: And unfortunately, I'm kinda done. Casey: I do too, but like that's also clearly, even though it's not a perfect one, it's clearly an olive branch. Like, so it's, it's, it's not working out. They basically. Chris: ⁓ huh. I agree. Casey: They go through this conversation and it's clearly not working and they're both are like kind of like this isn't going anywhere. So they at a point, I think it's even Carol. She says, the only thing I really know what to do at this point is like, I just want this to be over. So I just say like, I love you and it's fine. And they hug and they say, I love you. And Bethany is like, I'm sorry. Like, I don't want to fight with you. And you can even like see it on Carol's face. She's like, yeah. Like, yeah, no, you're right. Love you too. It's not, it... Chris: Whatever. It's very close maybe. Casey: It doesn't give at all that they really fixed anything. Like it was useless, honestly. And that's like where we kind of are at mid season with them. So it's not good. It's like has like a small little bandaid on it at the minute, but it's still, it's not good. It's a festering wound under the bandaid, but they have tried to be like, okay, like let's be fine for a sec. Chris: you an infection is building. Casey: An infection is building. Call the pit. Call Dr. Melissa King because we've got problems. We might have an amputation at hand. Push one. Chris: Yeah, we do. I'm pretty sure we we got ⁓ full-blown amputation Casey: And yeah, I mean, I think that's kind of like where my thoughts end on this first half of the season. It's an excellent season. Like there's a lot going on. We have tons of iconic moments. It's a really enjoyable watch. Like in terms of Housewives, like I just, love this. Chris: think also like the end of Roni's like golden age, because after this, I feel like you kind of have Bethany there for like her last season and she's checked out, then things get sort of odd and we know the history. And I feel like they really, this was such a benchmark of a season for that like era. Casey: Yeah. Yeah, so we'll kind of pick this back up next week, back with our dear Blake. Chris will leave us and his beautiful and thought-provoking statements will stay with us. So we will carry that in our hearts. Chris: Listen, I wanna close this off with a quote from Emma Stone as Cruella in Cruella. I came here to make art and I came here to make trouble. Casey: Ooh, chills. Chills right up the spine. That wasn't my spine, but chills right up the spine. And with that, we will see y'all next week back with the Blakester to dive into the second half of New York. Chris: Thank you. Casey: Season 10. Thank you to my bestie Chris for being here. I hope you enjoyed I'm sure that he'll be back. So we'll see y'all then but enjoy enjoy the week and Be ready to mention it all again soon Chris: Uh-oh. I know I will be.
