- 1:05Speaker 1: get a backstage pass. The world-famous Phil Henry Show at philhenryshow.com,
- 1:08Speaker 1: the greatest value online other than porn. Welcome to today's
- 1:12Speaker 1: featured radio archive show on the world-famous Phil Henry Show.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Today we've got Bobbi Dooley. She is the queen, man,
- 1:18Speaker 1: as we've often said. And Bobbi Dooley today is on
- 1:21Speaker 1: our program from 2004. And this was a period of
- 1:24Speaker 1: time when I believe it was George Bush and John
- 1:28Speaker 1: Kerry running against each other for the presidency. The Iraq
- 1:30Speaker 1: war was on and Bobby was a Democrat. And she
- 1:33Speaker 1: wants to attend the Democratic convention, but she doesn't think
- 1:36Speaker 1: the lady that was actually elected to go there should
- 1:40Speaker 1: represent because that woman has a lazy eye and a limp.
- 1:44Speaker 1: I don't mean to laugh. Yes, you do. Yes, you
- 1:45Speaker 1: absolutely do mean to laugh. I'm sorry. She has a
- 1:48Speaker 1: lazy eye, a limp, and then Bobby gets into it
- 1:51Speaker 1: with some lady that calls up who has some Parkinson's,
- 1:54Speaker 1: and they ask her, well, you know, do you churn butter?
- 1:57Speaker 1: It's completely tasteless. It's actually pretty funny. And it gives
- 2:01Speaker 1: us an idea as to the heart and the soul
- 2:03Speaker 1: of the seemingly nice but always pretty weird Bobby and
- 2:06Speaker 1: Steve Dooley. Now, the name Gail Roswald came up in
- 2:10Speaker 1: a newspaper article. Tell me about Gail.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Oh, Gail, you know, I have been dealing with it.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Gail is a wonderful woman. She is a wonderful woman.
- 2:18Speaker 2: She's one of our delegates. She's one of our members.
- 2:21Speaker 2: She wants to be a delegate. She has a son
- 2:24Speaker 2: who's in the Air Force Academy. She has a husband
- 2:26Speaker 2: who's a successful businessman. I think the world of her.
- 2:31Speaker 2: I can't allow her to go back to the convention
- 2:36Speaker 2: because of a physical infirmity that she has.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Now, I understand the woman suffers from lazy eye.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Yeah, some people call it walleye. It's... You know.
- 2:52Speaker 1: She's a Gulf War veteran. Am I right or am
- 2:53Speaker 1: I wrong?
- 2:55Speaker 2: She was in the U.S. Army. I believe she worked
- 2:57Speaker 2: on a Patriot missile battery during the Gulf War, yeah.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I can't indulge her. I can't have her leaving an
- 3:07Speaker 2: area that is known for women who are certainly very active,
- 3:11Speaker 2: but we're also, you know, physically appealing and we're well...
- 3:16Speaker 2: We take care of ourselves. And I send a woman
- 3:19Speaker 2: who is.
- 3:21Speaker 2: You know, 50-something who's a little, I would say, heavy,
- 3:27Speaker 2: who has one eye. She's got a drifting eye. If
- 3:32Speaker 2: it wasn't for the eye, I'm sure.
- 3:34Speaker 1: All right. Well, there's a major letter that she wrote
- 3:37Speaker 1: to the L.A. Times where she critiques this.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Well, I wrote a letter to the L.A. Times as well,
- 3:44Speaker 2: and I said, I can't have someone with an eye
- 3:48Speaker 2: that drifts away I'm sorry, but hold on.
- 3:51Speaker 1: 1-800-449-8686 is our number here. We're covering an awful lot.
- 3:55Speaker 2: 1-800-449-8686.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Bobby is on to talk about the Democratic Party's platform. Also,
- 4:01Speaker 1: this problem you're having, a member of your club that
- 4:04Speaker 1: you do not want to send to the Boston Convention
- 4:08Speaker 1: because she's unpresentable, would you say?
- 4:13Speaker 2: Physically, she is. If you're going to talk on the
- 4:17Speaker 2: floor of the convention... And you're going to convince people to...
- 4:22Speaker 2: By the way, not to.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Interrupt, has your club endorsed anyone?
- 4:26Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Phil?
- 4:27Speaker 1: Has the Western Estates Republican Women's Club endorsed anyone?
- 4:31Speaker 2: We're going with John Kerry. He... We just think he's great.
- 4:37Speaker 2: We did like Howard Dean, but we think John Kerry's great.
- 4:40Speaker 1: All right. So you've got a delegate on the convention
- 4:43Speaker 1: floor who wants to endorse John Kerry, and the lady
- 4:45Speaker 1: is physically... Yeah, it's very unfortunate.
- 4:49Speaker 2: She has one of these lazy eyes. And she also,
- 4:53Speaker 2: since an automobile accident that occurred, I think, right after
- 4:58Speaker 2: she got out of the Army, she has walked with
- 5:00Speaker 2: an aluminum cane. And we are also very proud of her.
- 5:04Speaker 2: And we want her to be active in our club.
- 5:11Speaker 2: But I send a woman to the Boston Convention Center.
- 5:16Speaker 2: You know, Steve said it best. He said it's like
- 5:18Speaker 2: sending the man from Young Frankenstein, the Jewish fellow, right?
- 5:24Speaker 2: Marty Feldman. Marty Feldman with one eye that goes very
- 5:28Speaker 2: distinctly to the left and another eye that drifts wide right.
- 5:34Speaker 2: And then on top of that, the crutch. Now you're talking.
- 5:40Speaker 2: People cannot possibly concentrate when they're talking to someone like that.
- 5:47Speaker 1: I want to ask you, as a Democrat, especially as
- 5:50Speaker 1: a Democrat, a party that is known for alleged sympathy
- 5:55Speaker 1: for the underprivileged, the underclass, whether they be handicapped, whether
- 6:00Speaker 1: they be people of color, isn't that a little hypocritical
- 6:04Speaker 1: for you to take that stand?
- 6:08Speaker 2: No, and I'll tell you why, Phil. We need, as
- 6:11Speaker 2: my husband likes to say, we need every swing and
- 6:14Speaker 2: you know what. where they're needed most. We put the
- 6:18Speaker 2: people who are good. For instance, Gail is wonderful at
- 6:21Speaker 2: working the phones. I love for her to work our phones.
- 6:25Speaker 2: On election day, she's going to be working the phones.
- 6:27Speaker 2: We're going to be getting the vote out for Howard Dean,
- 6:30Speaker 2: and we want to make sure that we have someone
- 6:33Speaker 2: on the phone who can do that. Gail is great.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Is that because you can't see her lazy eye and
- 6:39Speaker 1: her limp?
- 6:41Speaker 2: No, that is not it at all. It's because she
- 6:43Speaker 2: is a great communicator.
- 6:45Speaker 1: But if she's a great communicator, why not send her
- 6:47Speaker 1: to the convention?
- 6:48Speaker 2: You know something, Phil? I was elected president of the
- 6:51Speaker 2: Western Estates Democratic Party Women's Club. I'm sorry that you
- 6:54Speaker 2: don't agree with my decisions, but my decision is going
- 6:58Speaker 2: to be final. I understand how you feel.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Well, I will tell you this, Ms.
- 7:03Speaker 4: Dooley.
- 7:03Speaker 1: I found out that the women in your club voted...
- 7:07Speaker 1: almost unanimously to send this, Gail, and forgive me, Gail,
- 7:11Speaker 1: because I know you're listening. I spoke with her this afternoon. Gail,
- 7:18Speaker 1: is it Roswell?
- 7:19Speaker 2: Roswell.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Okay, Gail Roswell. They are supporting her.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Well, you know what? Yes, they are. And still, and
- 7:26Speaker 2: I appreciate their input, my decision is final. This is
- 7:30Speaker 2: one of the most important years in history for Democrats.
- 7:32Speaker 2: We can't take any chances sending a woman... with an eye,
- 7:39Speaker 2: you know... Steve, what was the joke you made?
- 7:41Speaker 1: You don't know which eye to look at when you're
- 7:42Speaker 1: talking to her.
- 7:43Speaker 2: My husband made a joke. He said, you don't know
- 7:45Speaker 2: which eye to look at when you're talking to her,
- 7:47Speaker 2: which I thought was funny. Now, imagine walking up to
- 7:52Speaker 2: someone with an eye that drifts left and then quivers
- 7:57Speaker 2: right for a moment and then drifts out back left,
- 8:00Speaker 2: and she's on a metal crutch.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I would say... As I have said, I work in business, Ms. Dooley,
- 8:07Speaker 1: with handicapped people. I'm in the broadcast business with people
- 8:10Speaker 1: who are on metal crutches.
- 8:13Speaker 2: What business are you in?
- 8:15Speaker 1: I'm in the radio business.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Bingo. See? Do you see any of them on TV,
- 8:21Speaker 2: hosting TV shows? No, you don't. No, you don't.
- 8:26Speaker 1: All right, 1-800-449-8686. Bobby Dooley, president of the Western Estate
- 8:31Speaker 1: Democratic Party Women's Club, is on the phone, along with Janet. Hello, Janet.
- 8:35Speaker 1: You're on the Phil Henry Show.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Hello, Ms.
- 8:37Speaker 5: Dooley.
- 8:38Speaker 6: If the Democratic Party considers itself to be the champion
- 8:41Speaker 6: of the people, then I would think that it should
- 8:44Speaker 6: be the champion of all people, regardless of how they look.
- 8:47Speaker 6: If this woman is a great communicator and you believe
- 8:50Speaker 6: she's a great representative of your club, then why is
- 8:54Speaker 6: it you want to keep her where no one can
- 8:56Speaker 6: see her? I'm absolutely appalled by.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Your point of view. No, can I explain? We value
- 9:03Speaker 2: Gail immensely. She has been like just my, she's been
- 9:08Speaker 2: my right hand. She's been everything. She is best needed
- 9:12Speaker 2: on the phones, where she won't scare people, where she can.
- 9:16Speaker 1: What do you mean, scare people?
- 9:20Speaker 2: Janet, you know what I mean, right?
- 9:22Speaker 6: No, I'm sorry, I don't. I was born with a
- 9:25Speaker 6: cleft lip, and I have a daughter.
- 9:27Speaker 5: With a cleft lip.
- 9:28Speaker 6: And I can tell you that many people might have
- 9:30Speaker 6: been scared by one of us. And I find your
- 9:33Speaker 6: comments extremely offensive.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Well, now, wait a minute. Even you can recognize that
- 9:39Speaker 2: I can't send you to a convention with a lip.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Is it like that? You sound normal.
- 9:46Speaker 6: Well, yes, I've had surgery and everything. But the point
- 9:49Speaker 6: is that why are you discriminating against someone because they
- 9:52Speaker 6: don't meet the current standard of what beauty is? Just
- 9:55Speaker 6: like you would discriminate against someone. Would you discriminate against
- 9:58Speaker 6: someone who's poor because... they aren't dressed in fashion?
- 10:02Speaker 2: Well, you're not going to send them out to the market.
- 10:05Speaker 6: And put down another.
- 10:07Speaker 2: You just put your foot in it. You just stepped
- 10:09Speaker 2: in it. No, I wouldn't. I'm not going to send
- 10:11Speaker 2: someone badly dressed into a business meeting. Are you? No,
- 10:14Speaker 2: but you could lead to a business meeting properly. Are
- 10:17Speaker 2: you punishing them?
- 10:19Speaker 6: No, but this is not something that you can.
- 10:21Speaker 2: So you're punishing them because they're poor? No, but at
- 10:23Speaker 2: the same.
- 10:24Speaker 6: Time, this is of no fault of her own, and
- 10:26Speaker 6: it's not even correctable.
- 10:28Speaker 2: We need to stop the warmonger George Bush. I don't
- 10:31Speaker 2: know why you're... Are you a Democrat?
- 10:34Speaker 6: No, I'm not, but I... Your comments have more to
- 10:38Speaker 6: do with acceptance of people and discrimination against people based
- 10:42Speaker 6: on something that's as shallow as appearance.
- 10:46Speaker 2: I just want to make sure we register enough voters
- 10:49Speaker 2: and we get enough people voting for.
- 10:53Speaker 1: You said you endorsed John Kerry.
- 10:55Speaker 2: For John Kerry. And the only way we can do
- 10:57Speaker 2: that is not to frighten them with someone who's stumbling
- 11:01Speaker 2: about with a cane. I'm sorry, I just.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Frighten them?
- 11:05Speaker 6: A vast majority of this country are the elderly.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Are they frightening? My husband wanted to know, is a
- 11:14Speaker 2: cleft lip the same as a hair lip?
- 11:15Speaker 1: All right, now listen to me.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Yes, it is.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Listen to me.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Yes.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I don't want to hear any more of this ignorance,
- 11:20Speaker 1: all right? We're trying to.
- 11:22Speaker 2: What ignorance, Mr. Hinder? I just want to know, is
- 11:24Speaker 2: she a hair lip?
- 11:25Speaker 6: Yes, that's a pejorative term for it, yes.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Well, you are.
- 11:29Speaker 1: She said it is a pejorative, okay? That is a negative.
- 11:33Speaker 2: All right.
- 11:34Speaker 6: You know, I will say one thing. I support George Bush,
- 11:37Speaker 6: and listening to you right now gives me a great
- 11:39Speaker 6: deal of hope.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Because if all the Democratic Party is.
- 11:42Speaker 6: In England with you, then there's no problem with him
- 11:45Speaker 6: winning again.
- 11:45Speaker 2: He's murdering people in Iraq. Can I ask a favor
- 11:49Speaker 2: of the lady? Yes.
- 11:50Speaker 1: What?
- 11:50Speaker 2: Could you do some of the alphabet?
- 11:52Speaker 1: All right, don't do it, Janet.
- 11:54Speaker 2: We just want to hear her say A, B, C, D.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Can she do that?
- 11:58Speaker 6: No. A, B, C, D, E, F, G. Keep going. H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T.
- 12:06Speaker 2: U, V, W, X, Y, Z. She says M good.
- 12:08Speaker 2: You say M good. Right here on the left.
- 12:10Speaker 1: If you say that word one more time, I'm hanging up.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Well, you know what?
- 12:13Speaker 6: I think I'm hanging up because I find you offensive.
- 12:15Speaker 2: No, Janet, you know what? Stacey Keech had a lip
- 12:18Speaker 2: like that, and he's a great actor, and he reads good.
- 12:21Speaker 1: All right.
- 12:23Speaker 6: You know, you are so condescending.
- 12:24Speaker 5: It's absolutely.
- 12:25Speaker 2: No, I'm trying to get... Why would I do that
- 12:27Speaker 2: when I'm trying to get you to vote for John Kerry?
- 12:31Speaker 6: Why?
- 12:32Speaker 2: That doesn't make any sense.
- 12:34Speaker 6: Your methodology leaves a lot to be desired, let me
- 12:38Speaker 6: tell you.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Janet, thank you so much for your comment, and have
- 12:41Speaker 1: a very good evening. Thank you. 1-800-449-8686. I would caution
- 12:46Speaker 1: the Doolies, if you wouldn't mind, Janet, to keep their
- 12:48Speaker 1: comments concerning this political race out of the pejorative area.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I think the lady used the word very well. Our
- 12:57Speaker 1: number is 1-800-449-8686. Should a woman who walks with a crutch.
- 13:04Speaker 1: And who has a wandering or lazy eye, should she
- 13:07Speaker 1: be allowed to be a delegate at the Democratic National Convention.
- 13:10Speaker 1: The president of a local Democratic women's club does not
- 13:13Speaker 1: want her to be there. She wants a more representative woman.
- 13:17Speaker 1: She wants herself to go. She's also said that the
- 13:21Speaker 1: woman walks with a crutch, even though she is a
- 13:23Speaker 1: war veteran. Now, she made a point, would you send
- 13:26Speaker 1: somebody who's dressed bad into a business meeting? Janet said, no,
- 13:29Speaker 1: I wouldn't, but I'd make sure they're dressed well. Why
- 13:31Speaker 1: can't you send somebody as a delegate to the convention,
- 13:33Speaker 1: even though they walk with a metal crutch and have
- 13:36Speaker 1: a wandering eye? The lady is a veteran of the U.S.
- 13:39Speaker 4: Army.
- 13:39Speaker 1: She has a son in the Air Force Academy. But Ms.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Dooley doesn't want her to go, even though the club does.
- 13:46Speaker 1: She's made the final decision. She's going. Phil Hendry Show.
- 13:55Speaker 1: And now more on the Phil Hendry Show. I want
- 13:58Speaker 1: you to tell my audience what you just told me.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Bobby Dooley with the Democratic Party Women's Club of Western Estates.
- 14:03Speaker 2: I'm sorry?
- 14:04Speaker 1: Tell the audience what you just said.
- 14:06Speaker 2: So what I'm saying is this. The Howard Dean scream
- 14:11Speaker 2: that you have been playing continuously on your show and
- 14:13Speaker 2: other comedians have is offensive to Democrats... And we are
- 14:18Speaker 2: requesting now that you stop. It is.
- 14:21Speaker 1: We're satirizing the man. The man made his bed. He's
- 14:24Speaker 1: got to sleep in it.
- 14:25Speaker 2: It is offensive to me as a Democrat. And this
- 14:29Speaker 2: kind of bigotry and prejudice is... Bigotry?
- 14:32Speaker 1: I'm commenting on the man.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Can I finish? This kind of bigotry and prejudice against
- 14:37Speaker 2: a presidential candidate that we're endorsing. And when I say bigotry, Phil,
- 14:41Speaker 2: I don't mean it in terms of the color of
- 14:43Speaker 2: his skin. I mean it in terms of the fact that...
- 14:45Speaker 2: that he's an excitable man, and you are making sport
- 14:49Speaker 2: of him. And so I don't want you to, we
- 14:54Speaker 2: are requesting that you not do it anymore.
- 14:57Speaker 1: All right, 1-800-449-8686.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Ms.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Dooley?
- 15:00Speaker 2: Yes. You know something? You're really childish.
- 15:06Speaker 1: All right, let me go to a phone call here. Rose,
- 15:08Speaker 1: go ahead, Rose.
- 15:09Speaker 7: Hi, yes, I called in to, I have a comment.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 15:13Speaker 7: Now, you're endorsing who again?
- 15:15Speaker 2: I'm sorry, say that again?
- 15:17Speaker 7: Who was it that you were endorsing?
- 15:19Speaker 2: The Democratic of Western States, Democratic Women's Party.
- 15:22Speaker 5: Yes. And you want us to vote for who?
- 15:25Speaker 2: It's, uh, I forgot.
- 15:27Speaker 1: John Dean.
- 15:28Speaker 2: John Dean. Oh, you forgot? I don't know. We began
- 15:32Speaker 2: the endorsement process last night.
- 15:35Speaker 7: Okay, so you're trying to get everyone to vote for
- 15:38Speaker 7: John Dean.
- 15:38Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 15:40Speaker 1: John Dean was the guy that ratted out President Nixon.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Do you mean Howard Dean?
- 15:43Speaker 2: Howard Dean, yeah. Howard Dean.
- 15:45Speaker 1: But you said John Kerry five minutes ago.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:48Speaker 7: You said Kerry.
- 15:49Speaker 2: No, I did not. Yes, you did.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Yeah, you did.
- 15:51Speaker 7: You kept saying Kerry, Kerry, Kerry.
- 15:53Speaker 5: Regardless of who... Okay, here's my point.
- 15:56Speaker 7: Regardless of who you're endorsing, if that person knew that
- 16:00Speaker 7: you were endorsing.
- 16:02Speaker 5: That person, and they knew what.
- 16:05Speaker 7: what soapbox you were standing on, and they endorse it, well,
- 16:09Speaker 7: then you know what? I would never, never vote for
- 16:13Speaker 7: that person because if they had the same beliefs that
- 16:15Speaker 7: you had, my dear, then God knows what would happen
- 16:18Speaker 7: to the rest of the people in this beautiful country
- 16:20Speaker 7: with the disabilities that bring us so much joy and hope.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Can I ask you something, Rose?
- 16:24Speaker 5: Yes, go ahead.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Do you want to have someone representing you who has
- 16:28Speaker 2: one shoe with a bigger heel than the other one?
- 16:31Speaker 5: You know what? I would be grateful.
- 16:35Speaker 7: I would love to see more.
- 16:36Speaker 2: People with disabilities out there. And you know what?
- 16:41Speaker 7: The people who have been blessed with these kind.
- 16:44Speaker 4: Of people in their lives.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Hey, Rose, hang on for a minute. We're going to
- 16:47Speaker 1: go to a break, but I want you to hang on.
- 16:49Speaker 1: You too, Bobby. This is a woman in the Democratic
- 16:51Speaker 1: Club with a walleye, and she doesn't want to go
- 16:54Speaker 1: into Washington. Phil Henry Show. The Phil Henry Show is back.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Bobby Dooley on me, with me here from the Democratic
- 17:04Speaker 1: Women's Club of Western Estates. This is a club of
- 17:06Speaker 1: women who are Democrats.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Well, in a manner of speaking, Phil, we are a
- 17:12Speaker 2: group of women, yes, who support the policies of the
- 17:15Speaker 2: Democratic Party, and we're working to get John Dean elected president,
- 17:21Speaker 2: and also to point out to people that George Bush...
- 17:27Speaker 2: I mean, could it be any worse? Could things be
- 17:30Speaker 2: any worse in our country? I don't think so. Everything
- 17:33Speaker 2: is horrible. And we just need to make it better.
- 17:37Speaker 2: We just really do. And we're going to do that
- 17:40Speaker 2: by getting rid of George Bush because he's just, it's
- 17:44Speaker 2: been a disaster.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Let me ask you just one question. What would you
- 17:48Speaker 1: like to have seen? After 9-11, what did you want
- 17:51Speaker 1: to have happen? Should we have not attacked? Were you
- 17:54Speaker 1: against the war with Iraq? Oh, yes.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Why?
- 17:56Speaker 1: Why were you against the war with Iraq?
- 17:59Speaker 2: Because they never found any weapons of destruction. And also,
- 18:08Speaker 2: the Iraqi people, you know, did you see the pictures
- 18:12Speaker 2: of the people that were, did you see the babies
- 18:14Speaker 2: that were killed?
- 18:15Speaker 1: All right, they never found any weapons of mass destruction.
- 18:17Speaker 1: What about Hussein getting kicked out of there?
- 18:20Speaker 2: Are you a Republican?
- 18:21Speaker 1: No, I'm not. I'm a Democrat.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Well, I don't understand. I'm just saying that we don't want,
- 18:28Speaker 2: you know, George Bush, that's the whole, right there.
- 18:32Speaker 1: All right. You just don't like him, huh?
- 18:35Speaker 2: No, he's just, it's terrible what's happened.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Okay, here's Amy. Go ahead, Amy.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Hi. Hi.
- 18:44Speaker 3: I'd like to just say that I find your approach
- 18:48Speaker 3: to sending this woman as your delegate to be completely despicable.
- 18:55Speaker 3: We have laws in this country that we've worked hard
- 18:58Speaker 3: for to prevent discrimination against individuals who are handicapped.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Oh, I'm not discriminating, though.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Yes, you are. I personally am handicapped and have to
- 19:12Speaker 3: walk with a cane because of a muscular disease.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Do you have one shoe with a thicker sole?
- 19:18Speaker 3: That's irrelevant.
- 19:19Speaker 1: What difference does it make?
- 19:20Speaker 3: That is a physical handicap, and you are illegally discriminating
- 19:26Speaker 3: against that individual.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Well, no, it's not a paid position, see, so that's no.
- 19:29Speaker 1: It's irrelevant.
- 19:31Speaker 4: Those laws are.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Are you blind? Do you have good eyes? What happened?
- 19:35Speaker 1: The lady said she has a muscular disease.
- 19:38Speaker 4: The point is, you're discriminating against someone.
- 19:46Speaker 3: For no just cause. You don't have it. And I
- 19:49Speaker 3: would advise any woman in your organization to run.
- 19:54Speaker 2: We are the Democratic Women's Club of Western States. We're
- 19:57Speaker 2: going to get Howard.
- 19:59Speaker 3: I don't care who you're promoting.
- 20:01Speaker 2: What I care about is.
- 20:03Speaker 3: The fact that you are abusing your power.
- 20:07Speaker 5: No, I'm not.
- 20:08Speaker 1: I said to this lady that the Democratic Party has
- 20:11Speaker 1: worked for the passage of the People with Disabilities Act.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Right. And I'm very proud of that, Phil. And that's
- 20:18Speaker 2: why we want Gail to work the phones. She does
- 20:21Speaker 2: it brilliantly. We're just afraid she might scare someone.
- 20:26Speaker 3: That is so disgusting. I know it is.
- 20:30Speaker 2: I don't even have.
- 20:31Speaker 3: The proper words to respond. That she will scare someone?
- 20:36Speaker 2: Can I tell you something, Amy, by the way?
- 20:38Speaker 5: No.
- 20:40Speaker 2: One of her eyes goes off. It just shoots off.
- 20:43Speaker 2: It's like she's looking at the sun and she's staring
- 20:46Speaker 2: at you.
- 20:46Speaker 7: So?
- 20:46Speaker 5: So.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 20:50Speaker 3: I walk with a pain.
- 20:51Speaker 7: I have tremors.
- 20:54Speaker 3: My hands and arms shake all of the time.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Can I play something for you, Amy? I asked your engineer,
- 21:02Speaker 2: Mark Newman, if he'd play this song, because this is
- 21:06Speaker 2: one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. And
- 21:08Speaker 2: this is so a part of what Amy and I
- 21:11Speaker 2: are talking about.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Well, look, I don't have time to play any songs
- 21:16Speaker 1: right now, okay? I've got to call her on the line.
- 21:19Speaker 1: So I'm... Is this the song?
- 21:21Speaker 2: Yes, go ahead. Okay, listen. I only have one good
- 21:29Speaker 2: eye for you. All right. Now, why did I say that?
- 21:32Speaker 2: Because if people like you head your way, Amy, songs
- 21:36Speaker 2: about beautiful eyes, I only have an eye for you.
- 21:40Speaker 2: You see what I'm saying? Oh, my gosh.
- 21:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:43Speaker 1: What kind of stupidity?
- 21:44Speaker 3: You are truly a frightening woman.
- 21:46Speaker 1: What kind of stupidity is that?
- 21:47Speaker 4: You have set back the ADA inequality.
- 21:52Speaker 3: For everyone in this country about 3,000 years.
- 21:56Speaker 5: You know something, Amy?
- 21:57Speaker 2: Even though you said hurtful things to me, I want
- 21:59Speaker 2: to send you off with a good thought. There's an
- 22:02Speaker 2: organization called the Jerry Lewis. Have you got any money
- 22:07Speaker 2: from him? Because you should call him. He does.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Jerry Lewis Telethon?
- 22:13Speaker 2: Yes.
- 22:14Speaker 3: What does he have to do with this?
- 22:16Speaker 2: Because of what you... You said you can't butter your
- 22:19Speaker 2: toast because your hands don't.
- 22:20Speaker 3: No, I didn't say that.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Yes, you did.
- 22:22Speaker 5: I beg your pardon.
- 22:24Speaker 2: You said it was difficult to pour cream in your
- 22:26Speaker 2: coffee because you're usually dumping it in your husband's lap
- 22:29Speaker 2: or something. I don't know.
- 22:31Speaker 1: She never said any such thing.
- 22:32Speaker 3: You are apparently hallucinating on top of everything else.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Yeah, she didn't say that she has trouble buttering her
- 22:36Speaker 1: freaking toast.
- 22:37Speaker 3: I never said anything of the kind.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Well, I want you to know that I'm, you know,
- 22:43Speaker 2: I just. I thought I heard her say it too.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Mr. Dooley, Amy, I want to thank you for your call.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Okay. And how long does it take you to churn butter?
- 22:53Speaker 3: Well, I've never churned butter.
- 22:55Speaker 5: Have you?
- 22:55Speaker 2: Do you have tremors?
- 22:57Speaker 5: Yes, I do.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Well, imagine what you could do. This is what I'm saying.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Every person to a job that he can do.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Wait a minute. Are you saying that because this lady
- 23:07Speaker 1: has tremors, she'd be one hell of a butter churner?
- 23:11Speaker 5: Yes.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Yes, I am.
- 23:15Speaker 4: Hi.
- 23:16Speaker 1: It's... It's nuts.
- 23:21Speaker 4: I think someone should strap you to a wheelchair for
- 23:28Speaker 4: about three weeks.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Very good.
- 23:30Speaker 3: And tape your mouth so that it's distorted and let
- 23:37Speaker 3: you try to survive in the world and see how
- 23:40Speaker 3: you like it.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Do you know it's an earthquake or how do you
- 23:43Speaker 2: know we're having an earthquake?
- 23:45Speaker 1: Have you heard anything this woman said? What do you mean,
- 23:48Speaker 1: how does she know we're having an earthquake?
- 23:49Speaker 2: If she's shaking all the time. You know, Jerry Lewis shakes, too,
- 23:54Speaker 2: so that's nothing to be ashamed of.
- 23:55Speaker 5: I'm not Elvis Presley.
- 23:57Speaker 2: He doesn't look like the old man anymore.
- 23:58Speaker 3: I have tremors in my hands and my arms.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Okay, Amy, thank you. You've got a very nice collection
- 24:05Speaker 1: of thoughts for our show.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Amy, just remember, we're out here in the Democratic Party
- 24:10Speaker 2: working for you. No, you're not. Yeah.
- 24:13Speaker 3: No, you've made it quite clear that you're not.
- 24:15Speaker 2: No, obviously, Mr. Hendry has biased everything that I've said.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Just remember, you'll never walk alone. No, I'm... Actually, you
- 24:22Speaker 2: know what? Here's a joke. You'll never limp alone.
- 24:25Speaker 3: Isn't that wonderful?
- 24:26Speaker 4: I'm educated enough and well-educated, mind you, that I can
- 24:30Speaker 4: make my decisions on my own.
- 24:32Speaker 1: All right, Amy, thank you very much.
- 24:33Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 24:34Speaker 7: 1-800-449-8686.
- 24:37Speaker 1: There is a level of insensitivity that you have, Ms.
- 24:39Speaker 4: Dooley.
- 24:39Speaker 2: No, Mr. Henry, there is a level of misunderstanding that
- 24:42Speaker 2: you have. You don't understand.
- 24:44Speaker 1: What do you mean you'll never limp alone?
- 24:47Speaker 2: It was a takeoff on the song, You'll Never Walk Alone.
- 24:50Speaker 1: I know the song, You'll Never Walk Alone. I know
- 24:53Speaker 1: that song.
- 24:54Speaker 2: The Democratic Party is here for... I forget her name.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Amy.
- 25:00Speaker 5: For Amy.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Excuse me. I'm sorry, Phil.
- 25:03Speaker 5: I had.
- 25:04Speaker 2: A really bad salmon dish for lunch. We had our
- 25:08Speaker 2: first monthly meeting over at one of the hotels here
- 25:12Speaker 2: in Western Estates near Agora, and I had a lousy
- 25:16Speaker 2: chicken breast. It was lousy. I think it was bad.
- 25:19Speaker 2: I think it was bad, too. But what I wanted
- 25:22Speaker 2: to say, well, now I forgot what I wanted to say.
- 25:24Speaker 1: All right, well, let me just go to another call here. Hyatt, hi,
- 25:26Speaker 1: you're on the Phil Henry Show, Hyatt.
- 25:28Speaker 5: Yes, thank you. Julie, I think.
- 25:31Speaker 2: My name is Bobbi. Julie? Bobby Dooley.
- 25:35Speaker 5: The worst thing that could have happened to the Democratic
- 25:39Speaker 5: Party was for you to get on national radio. And
- 25:44Speaker 5: whatever they have accomplished so far, you have just destroyed.
- 25:48Speaker 2: No, I have not. And that is very hurtful.
- 25:50Speaker 5: Yes, you have.
- 25:51Speaker 2: That's offensive.
- 25:52Speaker 5: Madam, yes, you have. You are sick.
- 25:56Speaker 2: How am I sick?
- 25:57Speaker 5: You are sick. And keep on talking, because the more
- 26:02Speaker 5: you talk, the more damage you are doing. And there
- 26:06Speaker 5: are many, many people out there listening. And I do
- 26:11Speaker 5: hope that everyone has heard every word that you have said.
- 26:16Speaker 1: All right, this is Phil. Let Bobby jump in here.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Well, I just have one question. I want to know
- 26:22Speaker 2: if this woman is deaf, because she won't listen to me.
- 26:25Speaker 5: You're absolutely correct. I've listened to every word you've said.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Well, what is this, GIMP call-in hour where you have
- 26:31Speaker 2: cripples calling in?
- 26:33Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 26:34Speaker 5: I beg your pardon?
- 26:35Speaker 2: Well, if you're deaf, I asked Mr. Hendry if this
- 26:39Speaker 2: was an hour for, you know, the deaf and dumb.
- 26:42Speaker 2: My name is Bobby.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Julie.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Okay, what do you want, George?
- 26:47Speaker 5: Because you have some very serious mental problems.
- 26:50Speaker 2: What is your name, Hyatt? My name is Hyatt. Were
- 26:54Speaker 2: you conceived there? Is that why they named you that?
- 26:56Speaker 1: No.
- 26:56Speaker 2: What's your husband's name? Union 76?
- 26:58Speaker 5: Julie, I want to remind you, there have been many
- 27:02Speaker 5: Americans that are shedding and have shed blood so that
- 27:07Speaker 5: people like you can get out and talk.
- 27:10Speaker 2: What's your last name? Regency?
- 27:12Speaker 5: My last name? You want my name? I'll give you
- 27:15Speaker 5: my name.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Hyatt Regency.
- 27:17Speaker 5: I will give you my name.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 27:19Speaker 5: Don't do it.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Don't do it.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Hyatt.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Don't do it, Hyatt. You're only going to get... You
- 27:23Speaker 1: don't want.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Thank you, Hyatt. My name is Bobby Julie.
- 27:26Speaker 5: Julie, I want to tell you something. If you are
- 27:32Speaker 5: representing Dr. Dean, you have already helped him to lose.
- 27:38Speaker 2: No, you're wrong.
- 27:39Speaker 5: Now you keep on talking, Julie. You're wrong.
- 27:42Speaker 2: The Democratic Party represents money for all kinds of people.
- 27:46Speaker 2: You better believe it. And the poor people are going
- 27:48Speaker 2: to get more money. You better believe it.
- 27:51Speaker 5: And wherever they found.
- 27:52Speaker 2: You and whoever allowed you to speak.
- 27:55Speaker 5: On national radio made the biggest mistake they could have made.
- 28:00Speaker 1: What we're trying to say here, Bobby, if I could
- 28:01Speaker 1: just jump in, is that in your attempt to communicate
- 28:05Speaker 1: a message, you've already called this lady Hyatt Regency. I
- 28:09Speaker 1: guess you think that's funny.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Well, my husband said Hyatt Watha, which I thought was
- 28:15Speaker 2: even better. But I'm not even going to go there
- 28:17Speaker 2: with you, Hyatt. What I am going to say is this.
- 28:19Speaker 2: As women, we shouldn't fight. We should stick together to
- 28:22Speaker 2: defeat George Bush and to get the Democrats into the
- 28:29Speaker 2: White House. And then everything's messed up now. Wouldn't you
- 28:33Speaker 2: agree with that?
- 28:34Speaker 5: I have been listening to what you've had to say
- 28:37Speaker 5: about disabled people.
- 28:38Speaker 2: There you go.
- 28:39Speaker 5: I think it's the most disgusting thing I've ever heard.
- 28:42Speaker 2: What? All I said was.
- 28:43Speaker 5: And as far as I'm concerned, Julie, you are sick. Very,
- 28:48Speaker 5: very sick.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Hey, Julie, get me some coffee, will you? In a minute. Now, Hyatt,
- 28:53Speaker 2: I think that what I need to do is to
- 28:56Speaker 2: tell Gail, all right, she can come to Boston with me.
- 28:58Speaker 5: Do you have a problem with this? I would like
- 29:01Speaker 5: to invite you to come here to Syracuse, New York.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Do you have a problem with this?
- 29:04Speaker 5: I would like to have a debate with you in
- 29:06Speaker 5: front of the public.
- 29:08Speaker 2: That's what we're doing right now. We're debating.
- 29:11Speaker 1: You're absolutely correct.
- 29:12Speaker 5: We are debating. But unfortunately, Julie, unfortunately, what you are doing,
- 29:19Speaker 5: you are damaging all of those that believe in what
- 29:24Speaker 5: you're representing, the Democratic Party. And in the length of
- 29:29Speaker 5: time that you have been on national radio.
- 29:31Speaker 2: I'm going to let Gail come to the Democratic Convention
- 29:33Speaker 2: with me if she'll wear a mask.
- 29:36Speaker 5: You have done more damage during this period of time.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Than anyone could have done. Why do you have an
- 29:43Speaker 2: Indian's name and a British accent?
- 29:45Speaker 5: I beg your pardon?
- 29:46Speaker 2: Why do you have an Indian's name and a British accent?
- 29:48Speaker 5: Because I happen to be British.
- 29:52Speaker 2: No, I know that, but what kind of Indian are you?
- 29:56Speaker 5: I happen to be an American citizen, and I'm proud
- 30:00Speaker 5: of it. And it just so happens that I have
- 30:03Speaker 5: also made sacrifices so that you can speak to me
- 30:08Speaker 5: on the phone.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Well, I don't want you to feel bad because I
- 30:10Speaker 2: had a very dear friend, and her first name was Hilton.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Isn't that fun? I had a buddy named Radisson.
- 30:18Speaker 5: Julie, I think you should appreciate this man that is
- 30:21Speaker 5: allowing you to use his airspace.
- 30:25Speaker 2: I love my husband. Oh, you mean Mr. Hendry? Yes. Well,
- 30:28Speaker 2: I think that... Hey, hiya. Pip, Pip and Cheerio. Isn't
- 30:31Speaker 2: that British?
- 30:32Speaker 5: I beg your pardon?
- 30:33Speaker 2: Isn't Pip, Pip and Cheerio a British way to talk?
- 30:36Speaker 5: And so is goodbye. Oh, yeah?
- 30:40Speaker 2: We do that, too, here. We say that in America.
- 30:42Speaker 2: We say goodbye, yeah.
- 30:44Speaker 5: Well, I must say that I do appreciate this country,
- 30:47Speaker 5: and I appreciate everything it's given to me.
- 30:51Speaker 2: What are the names of your kids, Sheraton, Marriott, and
- 30:53Speaker 2: Motel 6? I'm kidding, darling. I'm just kidding you.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Everything you've been saying is a big freaking joke.
- 31:00Speaker 5: You know, Julie, you don't come over at all, and
- 31:04Speaker 5: you can accent, and you can put on the accent,
- 31:08Speaker 5: and you can come over as madam, but believe me,
- 31:12Speaker 5: You are... beyond and beneath your dirt.
- 31:16Speaker 2: I'm getting the feeling that you're handicapped.
- 31:19Speaker 5: And you are what is called the ugly American in
- 31:23Speaker 5: other countries.
- 31:23Speaker 2: No, we represent our country very well. And God forbid
- 31:26Speaker 2: that you ever.
- 31:26Speaker 5: Go to another country to represent any American.
- 31:30Speaker 2: We went to France, and they loved us over there.
- 31:32Speaker 2: I had an affair with a Frenchman before I married Steve.
- 31:36Speaker 5: You are one of those that's pointed out as the
- 31:39Speaker 5: ugly American.
- 31:40Speaker 2: And we went to Britain, and they thought we were delightful.
- 31:44Speaker 2: And I had... Do you remember the little Chinese... We
- 31:47Speaker 2: were in China. No, we didn't go to China. We
- 31:49Speaker 2: went to Hong Kong, which they say is not the
- 31:52Speaker 2: same thing. But anyway, I want to thank you very much. Well,
- 31:55Speaker 2: I can assure you that I do have.
- 31:58Speaker 5: Access in other countries to the media, and I will
- 32:01Speaker 5: make it a point that you will be known.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Believe me. I'd love to go on the BBC and
- 32:07Speaker 2: talk all British and stuff. Wouldn't that be fun?
- 32:10Speaker 5: Believe me, and I will make it known just who
- 32:13Speaker 5: you are and how you talk about disabled people on
- 32:17Speaker 5: American radio.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Oh, good.
- 32:20Speaker 5: And I will let them know.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Now, how do I get room service? I'm kidding again, Hyatt.
- 32:24Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Look, the lady's name is Hyatt. Quit with the gags.
- 32:27Speaker 2: Hey, did you know Princess Diana? Because I really liked
- 32:30Speaker 2: her a lot. Yeah, you know, I did a Princess
- 32:32Speaker 2: Diana act. where I had a steering wheel coming out
