- 0:04Good morning. This is the Sacramento Brief, your
- 0:08weekday roundup of overnight headlines and what's
- 0:11ahead across the city. I'm Carol. It's Monday,
- 0:16December 29th, 2025. Let's get you caught up.
- 0:20But you know what? You can get caught up anytime
- 0:23on Google Home. Just ask your Google assistant
- 0:26to play the Sacramento Brief. It's just that
- 0:29easy. Now on to news. One person was killed and
- 0:33three others injured in South Sacramento crash
- 0:35Saturday morning. CHPs say a driver ran a red
- 0:39light at 47th Avenue and Franklin Boulevard,
- 0:41crashing into another car. Alcohol is believed
- 0:44to be a factor and the driver was not wearing
- 0:47a seatbelt. And overnight, police were busy again.
- 0:51Sacramento police are investigating a burglary
- 0:53at a tattoo parlor on X Street. Officers found
- 0:57the door open and the security cameras torn off
- 1:00at a business near 27th and X Street. This investigation
- 1:04remains active. In City Watch, Sacramento County
- 1:09Clerk's Office on American River Drive is closed
- 1:12after last week's storm damage cut off water
- 1:17service. Anyone with pre -scheduled appointments
- 1:20or weddings should check in before heading over
- 1:23there. And as the storm clears and the seasons
- 1:26turn, Sacramento begins its reset, starting with
- 1:29holiday tree recycling. If your holiday tree
- 1:33is ready for its encore, Sacramento County has
- 1:36free recycling options for you this month. Live
- 1:39trees with all lights, tinsel, nails. and stands
- 1:43removed can be dropped off January 3rd and 4th
- 1:46over at the Kiefer Landfill or the North Area
- 1:50Recovery Station. With additional drop -off sites
- 1:53available across the region through January 10th,
- 1:56flocked trees are not accepted for recycling.
- 2:00Those need to go in the garbage cart. County
- 2:03residents with organic service can cut up live
- 2:06trees and place them directly into the green
- 2:08cart as long as that lid will completely close.
- 2:12And one reminder, please don't leave trees on
- 2:15curbsides or roadways. In today's weather, we're
- 2:20going to expect widespread dense fog through
- 2:22the morning with pockets of frost before 9 a
- 2:26.m. Once that lifts, the skies turn partly sunny
- 2:29with cool high near around 50 degrees with light
- 2:33variable winds. Tonight stays quiet with patchy
- 2:37fog returning after 11 p .m. Partly cloudy skies
