- 0:24the world a better place. Find it in your favorite podcast
- 0:27app. But just to make it easy, I've
- 0:29left a link in the show notes. Today's quote comes from Pablo
- 0:34Picasso, one of the most influential artists of the 20th
- 0:38century, who devoted nearly eighty of his 91 years to
- 0:42artistic production and never stopped creating until his final
- 0:46days. He once said action is the
- 0:51foundational key to all success. One sentence, 9 words, and yet
- 0:59it cuts through every excuse, every plan, every perfectly
- 1:03crafted strategy that never goes anywhere.
- 1:06Notice what Picasso calls action.
- 1:09Not a key to success or one of the many keys.
- 1:12The foundational key, the one everything else is built on.
- 1:18You can have talent without action and get nowhere.
- 1:22You can have a brilliant plan without action and achieve
- 1:25nothing. You can have knowledge,
- 1:28connections, resources, and the ideal moment and still fail if
- 1:33action isn't at the foundation. Many people dream and plan and
- 1:38hope, but never do the things that will actually lead them to
- 1:42their goals. And here's the thing.
- 1:45Dreaming feels productive. Planning feels productive.
- 1:50Researching, preparing, waiting for the right moment.
- 1:53All of it feels like forward motion, but none of it is
- 1:58action. And without action, none of it
- 2:01becomes success. Picasso's output across his
- 2:05lifetime included over 20,000 paintings, prints, drawings,
- 2:11sculptures, and ceramics. He didn't achieve that by
- 2:15waiting for inspiration, or for the perfect conditions, or for
- 2:19someone to give him permission. He acted day after day, decade
- 2:25after decade. The foundation was always the
- 2:28same. Show up, do the work, take
- 2:32action. That's not just how great art
- 2:35gets made. That's how any success gets
- 2:38made. I've spent more time than I care
- 2:41to admit preparing to do things rather than doing them.
- 2:45Researching the perfect microphone before starting a
- 2:48podcast. Thinking my studio space wasn't
- 2:51good enough. Outlining the perfect format
- 2:54before recording the first episode.
- 2:57Waiting until I felt ready, which, as it turns out, is a
- 3:00feeling that never just happens. Changing website themes and
- 3:06designs instead of writing the content.
- 3:09What eventually moved things forward wasn't more preparation,
- 3:13it was more action. Imperfect, uncertain, and just
- 3:18good enough to start. And once the foundation of
- 3:21action was laid, everything else had something to build on.
- 3:26Picasso was right. It really is foundational.
- 3:30So here's the question. What are you still preparing for
- 3:34that you actually need to just start because the plan is never
- 3:39going to be perfect. The timing is never going to be
- 3:43ideal. But action, even imperfect
- 3:46action taken today is the one thing that can actually build
- 3:51into something. Lay the foundation, take action.
- 3:56That's where success begins. That's it for today.
- 4:00I'm Andrew McGivern, signing off for now, but I'll be back
- 4:04tomorrow. Same pod time, same pod station
- 4:09with another daily quote.
