- 0:04Speaker 1: What up? Everybody?
- 0:06Speaker 2: Happy Monday afternoon to you. Welcome to Foul Territory. I
- 0:10Speaker 2: am Alana Rizzo, your host for the next couple of hours,
- 0:12Speaker 2: alongside these two gentlemen that you know very well, Eric Kratz,
- 0:16Speaker 2: Aj Pierzinski. Scott Braun is off this week, so happy
- 0:19Speaker 2: to be with you boys. Welcome to the show. Everybody
- 0:22Speaker 2: tweet us at FT Live. Don't forget you can buy
- 0:24Speaker 2: merchant Foul Territory shop dot com. Let's get into it
- 0:28Speaker 2: before we get into the nitty gritty of baseball, AJ,
- 0:31Speaker 2: you were there, Let's kinda let's go ahead and clear
- 0:34Speaker 2: this thing up with mister Ken Rosenthal, who is apparently
- 0:38Speaker 2: public enemy number one right now across the baseball world.
- 0:42Speaker 2: You were there, AJ, What really happened?
- 0:45Speaker 1: All right? First of all, anybody that knows Ken goes
- 0:48Speaker 1: that Ken is a nice guy. Okay, listen, Ken and
- 0:51Speaker 1: I joke a lot on the show. We work together,
- 0:53Speaker 1: Fox who work together here, We joke a lot. We
- 0:55Speaker 1: make a lot of fun of each other. But at
- 0:57Speaker 1: the end of the day, I want people to understand
- 0:59Speaker 1: the Ken roseal is a really nice guy and he
- 1:02Speaker 1: cares about other people. So that people that think that
- 1:04Speaker 1: Ken was trying to bully this guy or thinks he's
- 1:07Speaker 1: better than anybody else. Don't know Ken very well, all right,
- 1:11Speaker 1: that's the first thing. Second of all, when this happened,
- 1:15Speaker 1: I saw it live and I made fun of Ken
- 1:17Speaker 1: right after the game. I didn't know it was going
- 1:19Speaker 1: to turn into this viral sensation. I literally laughed at
- 1:21Speaker 1: him and I said, Ken, did you see yourself? You
- 1:24Speaker 1: looked down at him like this poor guy just got
- 1:26Speaker 1: run over by a little person. Okay, and look that's
- 1:30Speaker 1: like and Ken we Ken first of all said, I apologized.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I felt terrible about it. But he was also in
- 1:38Speaker 1: the middle of a live interview. Okay, not that that's
- 1:41Speaker 1: an excuse, but what Ken did afterwards, I know he
- 1:43Speaker 1: apologized profusely to the guy and said, I'm sorry. It
- 1:48Speaker 1: was a mistake. It happened. And here's my question for you. Alana,
- 1:51Speaker 1: you've done a million live interviews, Eric, You've done live
- 1:53Speaker 1: stuff happens in the middle of it. We were trying
- 1:56Speaker 1: to get the shot. We had Monasterio who had just
- 1:58Speaker 1: gotten the game winning hit in a while game, and
- 2:01Speaker 1: he was doing an interview in English, which was unbelievable
- 2:04Speaker 1: for him to do, and then this guy was in
- 2:06Speaker 1: our shot and we asked him repeatedly again not excuse me,
- 2:08Speaker 1: asked him to move, and then Ken didn't want to
- 2:11Speaker 1: get wet. Fine, he knew it was coming. He made
- 2:13Speaker 1: it into the guy. It happens. Ken's apologized. It's time
- 2:17Speaker 1: to move on people. It wasn't a big deal. It
- 2:19Speaker 1: wasn't a big thing. The guy who got hit took
- 2:22Speaker 1: it and understood, we all need to just chill. Okay,
- 2:26Speaker 1: just chill. It's fine, not a big deal.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I agree. First of all, it was during a live interview.
- 2:32Speaker 2: As you mentioned, it's very It's not like Ken can
- 2:34Speaker 2: go over to the guy in the middle of a
- 2:36Speaker 2: live interview AJ and Eric and apologize to him while
- 2:39Speaker 2: he's trying to interview a player on the field on
- 2:42Speaker 2: live television. Ken Rosenthal does not have a mean bone
- 2:46Speaker 2: in his body. Eric Kratz if the optics looked bad,
- 2:50Speaker 2: but that wasn't the whole story. Let's just put this
- 2:52Speaker 2: to bed, shall we.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Yes, If anybody's going to make fun of Ken, it's
- 2:56Speaker 1: going to be us. He's our Ken. We're going to
- 2:59Speaker 1: make fun of AJ gets the most. I get a
- 3:01Speaker 1: few jabs in here and there. Everybody else stay off it.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Just make sure everybody knows. Like this guy was also
- 3:09Speaker 1: asked to get out of the shot a couple times,
- 3:11Speaker 1: and like, you try it next time you hit your
- 3:14Speaker 1: head on something in your house, you bump your head.
- 3:17Speaker 1: See if like see if your reaction is like, oh,
- 3:21Speaker 1: man heat, Like he's a live shot, he's in the
- 3:24Speaker 1: game mode.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yeah, let's put this a bad all right, Let's charge
- 3:28Speaker 2: the mound powered by MLB nine innings. Let's get to it, guys.
- 3:34Speaker 2: And the whole reason that Ken was there, of course,
- 3:37Speaker 2: is because the Brewers are doing some amazing things this year.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Every single milestone first to sixty wins, first to seventy wins,
- 3:45Speaker 2: first to eighty, first to ninety, first to clinch a
- 3:47Speaker 2: postseason Milwaukee does it in Milwaukee fashion, aj walking it
- 3:51Speaker 2: off in the tenth This is a pretty special team.
- 3:54Speaker 2: What have you noticed by watching this club throughout the year.
- 3:57Speaker 2: What's Pat Murphy doing well?
- 3:59Speaker 1: Well? Pat Murphy has a team that he loves. Okay,
- 4:03Speaker 1: Pat Murphy coaching college for a long time before he
- 4:05Speaker 1: got into the minor leagues and before he became a
- 4:07Speaker 1: big league manager. If you ever watch Pat Murphy's teams,
- 4:11Speaker 1: Dustin Pedroia, Jason Kidnis tho this they played for him.
- 4:14Speaker 1: They were hard news. They played defense, they pitched, they bunted,
- 4:17Speaker 1: they hit and ran, they stole bases, they kept pressure
- 4:20Speaker 1: on the other team. That's exactly what Pat Murphy has
- 4:22Speaker 1: here in the Brewers. He has a college team that
- 4:25Speaker 1: nobody else plays like. That's the biggest thing. And I
- 4:28Speaker 1: asked Ali Marmel on Saturday, who was the Cardinals? I said,
- 4:31Speaker 1: what are the Brewers do? He goes it's just constant pressure. Yes,
- 4:34Speaker 1: they have a couple guys that hit home runs, and
- 4:36Speaker 1: Yelli and Churio and Cantreres when he's going well. But
- 4:42Speaker 1: at the end of the day, they are constantly on base,
- 4:44Speaker 1: they're constantly taking the extra base. They're constantly singling you
- 4:47Speaker 1: to death. They did all of this against the Cardinals
- 4:50Speaker 1: and hit zero home runs. It was not stolen base, knock,
- 4:54Speaker 1: good at bat, productive out, Let's get the guy over
- 4:57Speaker 1: infield hit because we're hustling. It was unbelievable watching this game.
- 5:00Speaker 1: You're like, oh, the Cardinals kept winning, they kept going up. Oh, no, boom,
- 5:04Speaker 1: hit boom, hit boom, hit boom, single single, And here's
- 5:06Speaker 1: an hit by Monasterio, but it was just amazing to watch.
- 5:10Speaker 1: This is I hate to say old school baseball, but
- 5:13Speaker 1: this is kind of old school baseball where they just
- 5:15Speaker 1: single you to death. They steal bases they bought, they
- 5:18Speaker 1: know their job. Oh there's a runnerund third. I think
- 5:20Speaker 1: Caturre's had three sack flies in this game to center field.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Like that's all the way baseball is meant to be played.
- 5:25Speaker 1: There's many ways to play baseball, and the Brewers are
- 5:27Speaker 1: the only ones that do it this way now and
- 5:29Speaker 1: that's why they're so tough.
- 5:31Speaker 2: And it works for them. And you know what, Eric,
- 5:33Speaker 2: they haven't won a postseason series since reaching Game seven
- 5:36Speaker 2: of the NL Championship Series in twenty eighteen, but they're
- 5:39Speaker 2: in the postseason crats every single year. Why can this
- 5:43Speaker 2: team be different? Why can they go further?
- 5:46Speaker 1: Because they do have what Aj said they don't need
- 5:49Speaker 1: is the power. They do have guys that are driving
- 5:52Speaker 1: the ball at the ballpark leading up to the playoffs here,
- 5:55Speaker 1: leading up to from the second half on, Bryce terrang
- 5:59Speaker 1: Yelly is the clear leader of this team and he
- 6:02Speaker 1: wants to play every single day, and I think that
- 6:05Speaker 1: permeates the rest of the guys and the rest of
- 6:07Speaker 1: the young guys in the locker room don't ever take
- 6:10Speaker 1: days off at bats off because that's the leadership that
- 6:13Speaker 1: he shows. But Bryce Terrang is a guy that has really,
- 6:18Speaker 1: I mean the amount of home runs he's hit since
- 6:21Speaker 1: I think it's even since the start of August, not
- 6:23Speaker 1: just July. He has been on a tear where you're
- 6:28Speaker 1: not sure if it's okay to try to get ahead
- 6:30Speaker 1: of this guy. And when you add that to the lineup,
- 6:33Speaker 1: you add in a guy like Rehys Hoskins who clearly
- 6:37Speaker 1: shows this lineup has depth. If he's not playing that much,
- 6:40Speaker 1: if he's coming back from the IL and he's kind
- 6:43Speaker 1: of more of a bench role, it's a deeper lineup.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I was on that eighteen team and we played the
- 6:50Speaker 1: exact same way. We fell short. We fell short in
- 6:54Speaker 1: Game seven. I feel like this team has because they
- 6:57Speaker 1: always do. They have enough pitching if somebody can step
- 7:00Speaker 1: in in McGill's absence to consistently close games out and
- 7:05Speaker 1: then have your rebay spot in the eighth inning filled
- 7:08Speaker 1: in like guys have to fill in. But I think
- 7:11Speaker 1: this team has a different look, a different feel in
- 7:15Speaker 1: their lineup than they did the other years when they
- 7:18Speaker 1: fell short.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Let me ask you guys this question. I want to
- 7:21Speaker 2: answer from both of you. All thirty teams. There's not
- 7:23Speaker 2: a standout team this year, right, There's not a team
- 7:25Speaker 2: that is by and large a runaway team to get it,
- 7:28Speaker 2: get to the World Series and win it. Every team
- 7:31Speaker 2: has its holes. So AJ will start with you. What
- 7:33Speaker 2: are the holes of the Brewers?
- 7:35Speaker 1: Well, McGill's out. They don't know who their closer is.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Rebay pitched Saturday. He hadn't pitch for a week. It's
- 7:41Speaker 1: got something going on. I don't know what it is,
- 7:43Speaker 1: but he missed a week before Saturday, came in and
- 7:45Speaker 1: pitched on Saturday. So their bullpen to me, has been good,
- 7:49Speaker 1: but without that lockdown closing. If it's a Rebay, that
- 7:51Speaker 1: winkens or other spots a little bit. So we'll see.
- 7:54Speaker 1: And then what they do with miss is a big thing.
- 7:56Speaker 1: What are they gonna do with miss Rowski? Is he
- 7:58Speaker 1: going to be a starter? Is he going to be
- 7:59Speaker 1: in the bullpen? But is even gonna be on the roster?
- 8:01Speaker 1: And then I also think, I know, I just pumped
- 8:04Speaker 1: them up for being this type of team, but not
- 8:06Speaker 1: hitting home runs and this do they have guys that
- 8:08Speaker 1: get home runs, yes, but do they hit home runs
- 8:11Speaker 1: to the to the way the Dodgers, the Yankees, even
- 8:15Speaker 1: the Blue Jays and some of these other teams can. Well,
- 8:17Speaker 1: we'll go in the National League the way the Phillies can,
- 8:19Speaker 1: the way the Dodgers can. That's their thing. Can they
- 8:23Speaker 1: score enough runs? Can they figure out a way? Because
- 8:25Speaker 1: I'll say this, teams in the postseason prepare for you
- 8:29Speaker 1: differently than they do a three game series in the
- 8:31Speaker 1: middle of July. It's just a thing. They will practice
- 8:35Speaker 1: butt defense, they'll practice first and third, they'll practice defending
- 8:37Speaker 1: the steal. Guys will slide step, guys will do different things.
- 8:40Speaker 1: So can they score enough runs? To me, it's can
- 8:42Speaker 1: they score enough runs? And what do they do with
- 8:44Speaker 1: the bullpen? AMZ you can? I mean I think we
- 8:53Speaker 1: look back in twenty twenty three, people ask is this
- 8:55Speaker 1: going to is this type of offense going to play
- 8:58Speaker 1: in the postseason twenty twenty three, the Diamondbacks were that team,
- 9:02Speaker 1: that type of team going into it. What did they do?
- 9:05Speaker 1: How they beat the Dodgers at beat the Dodgers and
- 9:07Speaker 1: beat the Brewers? They hit dingers. That's how like I know,
- 9:13Speaker 1: I don't want to say, well, you gotta hit dingers
- 9:16Speaker 1: to win the world to win the World Series, or
- 9:18Speaker 1: to make it to the World Series. I think that's
- 9:21Speaker 1: the reality of it. You have to figure out how
- 9:23Speaker 1: to hit dingers. And I think that's the difference is
- 9:25Speaker 1: they have guys who will be able to drive the
- 9:27Speaker 1: ball the ballpark. Ultimately, it's who gets hot. Ultimately, all
- 9:32Speaker 1: that is fine and dandy, but they figure out how
- 9:37Speaker 1: to win games. And I think that is the difference
- 9:41Speaker 1: in teams who lose in Game five of the Division
- 9:45Speaker 1: Series or lose in Game seven, is to win those games,
- 9:51Speaker 1: you have to figure out how to get something around
- 9:54Speaker 1: the edges you might not get to. Let's see, who
- 9:57Speaker 1: are they gonna draw in the first round. They're gonna
- 9:59Speaker 1: either get the Cubs as of now, the Cubs, or
- 10:03Speaker 1: it wouldn't be the Mets or Dodgers, it would be
- 10:06Speaker 1: the Padres. How do you scratch runs out against their bullpen? Well,
- 10:12Speaker 1: you know what, you might not so you might have
- 10:15Speaker 1: to scratch runs out against you Darvis Dylan Cees, Nick
- 10:19Speaker 1: Pavetta like, that's what they're learning throughout this season is
- 10:23Speaker 1: how to win ballgames, not how to hit home runs.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Let me ask you guys this. The Philadelphia Phillies have
- 10:31Speaker 2: also clinched a postseason spot. They're the second team right
- 10:34Speaker 2: behind the Brewers. However, they have not clinched the NL
- 10:37Speaker 2: East yet. Of course, the Central belongs to Milwaukee. How
- 10:41Speaker 2: important is it, you guys in terms of seeding and
- 10:44Speaker 2: how important is it aj for Philadelphia to clinch the East?
- 10:49Speaker 1: Uh? Well, I think right now the Brewers are we sorry,
- 10:52Speaker 1: the Phillies are thinking about more than just the East.
- 10:54Speaker 1: I mean, they've won the East. East is over. Okay,
- 10:56Speaker 1: let's get that. They want the one seed. I don't
- 10:58Speaker 1: think there's more one team that has a bigger home
- 11:01Speaker 1: field advantage than the Phillies. I think the Brewers are
- 11:04Speaker 1: a close second. Meaning the Brewers want home field throughout
- 11:06Speaker 1: the whole way, and I think it would mean more
- 11:08Speaker 1: to them. But to me, the Phillies want the one seed.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I think they're one game behind the Brewers right now
- 11:13Speaker 1: for the first seed. That's what they want. Like the East,
- 11:16Speaker 1: the East has done, East was done. East has been done. Okay,
- 11:19Speaker 1: when they swept the Mets again, the East is done
- 11:21Speaker 1: and the Mets are out of the East. They're hoping
- 11:23Speaker 1: to hang on to a wild card. But to me,
- 11:25Speaker 1: the two teams that need home field more than any
- 11:27Speaker 1: are the Phillies. But to me, the Brewers are the
- 11:29Speaker 1: two that need the home field, and that's what they're
- 11:31Speaker 1: fighting for. They're both gonna get the buye. They're both
- 11:34Speaker 1: gonna get the buye, but home field is important to
- 11:36Speaker 1: those two.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Eric Phillies playing Los Angeles next in terms of the series,
- 11:40Speaker 2: they have a chance to clinch it there. Do they
- 11:43Speaker 2: do it? Do you think they do it in La?
- 11:45Speaker 1: Yeah? I think I think it's Yeah, I think I
- 11:49Speaker 1: think it's one game. I think they have to win
- 11:51Speaker 1: because they could have clinched it at home and they
- 11:53Speaker 1: were leading the game and then gave up six in
- 11:56Speaker 1: the fifth or sixth inning yesterday. But yes, I completely agree.
- 12:01Speaker 1: The Phillies have fifty one wins at home, the Brewers
- 12:05Speaker 1: a forty eight wins at home. Dodgers are forty eight
- 12:07Speaker 1: wins at home also, but that is a huge, huge
- 12:11Speaker 1: home road split, and playing at Citizens Park for the
- 12:16Speaker 1: Phillies has been a house of hors for teams. In
- 12:20Speaker 1: the last two seasons. They have over one hundred. Yeah,
- 12:23Speaker 1: I think they have one hundred and two wins. Now,
- 12:25Speaker 1: I think they won two this weekend. One hundred and
- 12:27Speaker 1: two or one hundred and three wins in the last
- 12:29Speaker 1: two seasons at home is crazy. So yes, you want
- 12:34Speaker 1: to play because you won't play the Brewers until a
- 12:37Speaker 1: seven game series. You would much rather play four games
- 12:40Speaker 1: at home than three games at home. People say it's
- 12:42Speaker 1: just one game. It's a big difference. When you get
- 12:46Speaker 1: two at home right away and then you got to
- 12:49Speaker 1: go to someone else's place and play three, it's a big, big,
- 12:53Speaker 1: big advantage.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it's insane that last week it seemed like it
- 12:57Speaker 2: was only a two horse race in the National League
- 12:59Speaker 2: wild Card. Now it seems like a four team frenzy.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Things are getting very interesting, gentlemen, with two weeks left
- 13:05Speaker 2: in of the regular season, all right, coming up, get
- 13:07Speaker 2: MLB nine Innings twenty five, a baseball game in the
- 13:10Speaker 2: palm of your hands, Mike Trout's favorite game, of course,
- 13:14Speaker 2: play alongside icons like Derek Peter, Joe DiMaggio, Satchel Page
- 13:18Speaker 2: and more, write your history with all time greats and
- 13:21Speaker 2: leads your team to victory. We'll be right back after.
- 13:23Speaker 3: This, FT fam, Let's talk about fair harbor, and if
- 13:27Speaker 3: you're listening, I hope that you watch this conversation at
- 13:31Speaker 3: some point because we're doing show and tellcrats shorts they
- 13:35Speaker 3: can be used as a bathing suit. And the liner,
- 13:40Speaker 3: which we call butter, is the game breaker. It's the
- 13:44Speaker 3: playmaker because it's different.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Your born shorts that are not like this, and the
- 13:50Speaker 1: liner sucks. They are buttery on your butt.
- 13:54Speaker 3: I just came up with something for them. Your liner sucks.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Get Fair Harbor Liner. Seriously, give it a shot. I'm
- 14:03Speaker 3: not just saying this. The butter analogy plays an ftfam
- 14:08Speaker 3: you know.
- 14:08Speaker 1: We're hooking you up.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Fairharbor Clothing dot com slash val twenty percent off when
- 14:13Speaker 3: you use the code foul on your first purchase. Once again,
- 14:16Speaker 3: that's fair harbo r Clothing dot com backslash foul for
- 14:21Speaker 3: twenty percent off your first purchase and use promo code foul.
- 14:29Speaker 1: All right.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Time Now for better than box scores, Let's talk a
- 14:32Speaker 2: little bit about the Toronto Blue Jays Boys. Toronto has
- 14:35Speaker 2: a four game lead over in the New York Yankees,
- 14:38Speaker 2: a five and a half game lead over a Boston
- 14:40Speaker 2: Are they for real? Are you believing this.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Over? Yeah? Al least is over, you think so?
- 14:49Speaker 2: Two weeks left, it's over. Why do you say that,
- 14:50Speaker 2: Why are you so confident in that?
- 14:53Speaker 1: Because I haven't seen the blips from the Blue Jays.
- 14:55Speaker 1: They've kind of like ironed out a little bit of
- 14:57Speaker 1: that that bullpen issue that they had them. I say
- 14:59Speaker 1: it's part perfect. I'm not saying they're a perfect team,
- 15:01Speaker 1: because as we've said throughout the entire show, it's not.
- 15:06Speaker 1: It's not a perfect team. But the two teams chasing
- 15:09Speaker 1: them I don't think have enough in them, especially Boston
- 15:13Speaker 1: without Anthony with that and the Yankees without their bullpen
- 15:17Speaker 1: being locked down like you would think they would when
- 15:20Speaker 1: you see the names. I just don't think there's enough
- 15:24Speaker 1: to catch this team because they have something that none
- 15:28Speaker 1: of the teams we've talked about have starting pitching night
- 15:33Speaker 1: in and night out, that you're like, this guy could
- 15:35Speaker 1: go seven, he could go six, he could give them
- 15:38Speaker 1: another quality start. They have it. They have it in droves.
- 15:42Speaker 1: They put Eric lower, who was giving them quality starts
- 15:44Speaker 1: night in and night out, into the bullpen.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Isn't that crazy, Aja what Eric just said that they've
- 15:50Speaker 2: ironed out the blips. I feel like every year at
- 15:53Speaker 2: this point of the season, Toronto implodes in some way.
- 15:56Speaker 2: This seems like the most complete Toronto Blue Jays team
- 16:00Speaker 2: we've seen in some time. Is that fair?
- 16:02Speaker 1: Absolutely? Their pitching is great, Their their offense and defense
- 16:05Speaker 1: have been really good. They're bullpenning there so some blips
- 16:07Speaker 1: in the bullpen, but we'll see what happens with them.
- 16:11Speaker 1: But I know this, the American League is gonna have
- 16:13Speaker 1: to go through Toronto. You're gonna have to go to
- 16:15Speaker 1: Toronto and win games, and that is not the easiest
- 16:17Speaker 1: place on earth to go to to win. It gets loud,
- 16:20Speaker 1: it gets crazy. We saw Whacken when they were good,
- 16:22Speaker 1: you know, twenty fifteen with the batflip and all that stuff.
- 16:25Speaker 1: When the place gets rocking, it is not an easy
- 16:27Speaker 1: place for them to go. So I think this team
- 16:29Speaker 1: has a great opportunity to not only obviously win the East.
- 16:33Speaker 1: East is over. They're four games up with what eleven
- 16:35Speaker 1: to play. They should have that locked down, and then
- 16:38Speaker 1: also represent the American League in the World Series. Just
- 16:41Speaker 1: because everyone has to come to Toronto and everyone says, oh,
- 16:44Speaker 1: you know, da da da da this, and that everyone
- 16:47Speaker 1: still doesn't understand how good Toronto can be. When that
- 16:50Speaker 1: country in that stadium gets behind them, they are incredible.
- 16:53Speaker 1: It is loud if the roof is closed, Holy cow,
- 16:56Speaker 1: it is so loud in that place. And they play
- 16:58Speaker 1: great at home. So I think they're in a great spot.
- 17:00Speaker 1: I think not only to win the East, but to
- 17:02Speaker 1: win the American League.
- 17:04Speaker 2: This is funny too because John Schnyder was saying that
- 17:06Speaker 2: Donnie Baseball Don Mattingly remarked that how much of the
- 17:09Speaker 2: Blue Jays appear to be enjoying the run? What I
- 17:11Speaker 2: mean by that is like, it's like the sandlot, Manningly
- 17:13Speaker 2: told Schneider. These guys are just out playing baseball and
- 17:15Speaker 2: having fun. You guys have been in this game for
- 17:18Speaker 2: a very long time. It's one thing when you're winning.
- 17:21Speaker 2: It's another thing entirely when you're winning and you're having
- 17:24Speaker 2: a really good time doing it. How much does that
- 17:26Speaker 2: play into the success that they're having?
- 17:27Speaker 1: Aka, I mean, what comes first? The chicken in the egg?
- 17:34Speaker 1: Were they stressed when they traded for Louis Varlin and
- 17:39Speaker 1: he was not pitching like the guy that they thought,
- 17:41Speaker 1: Oh no, this is bad. Jeamy Garcia was supposed to
- 17:44Speaker 1: be coming back during that time. He's down. He's not
- 17:47Speaker 1: coming back. Jeff Hoffman like, are they happy and having fun?
- 17:51Speaker 1: When things are going bad, that would be my question,
- 17:55Speaker 1: and to say, oh, they're happy and having fun. Now
- 17:58Speaker 1: you have to embody that at all times. And that's
- 18:03Speaker 1: why some teams get complacent when they have a four
- 18:05Speaker 1: and a half game lead, because they're like, you know what, hey,
- 18:09Speaker 1: we lose this game. So what you have to take
- 18:12Speaker 1: that enjoyment and embodiment of sandlot baseball all the way
- 18:17Speaker 1: into the postseason. When you are going to the ballpark
- 18:21Speaker 1: at twelve o'clock and people are already outside of the
- 18:25Speaker 1: stadium in Toronto, it feels like the people are on
- 18:28Speaker 1: top of you and it's just a different environment. Can
- 18:32Speaker 1: they keep that same sandlot environment? Yes, I think so
- 18:35Speaker 1: because of the guys that they have at the top.
- 18:39Speaker 1: They have a veteran in George Springer, and they have
- 18:42Speaker 1: two still young guys who know what it's like to
- 18:45Speaker 1: not win in Toronto in Bobashet and Vladimir Guerrera Junior.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Everybody else that's there, because Santandre's really not a big
- 18:55Speaker 1: piece right now. He might be down the stretch here,
- 18:57Speaker 1: but everybody else is kind of filling in earning their spot.
- 19:02Speaker 1: They're enjoying it. They don't know the you know the
- 19:05Speaker 1: angst of twenty twenty three when they took when they
- 19:08Speaker 1: brought in Kokuchi out of the bullpen, or was it
- 19:10Speaker 1: Kokuchie or was it Reu Anyway, whoever it was, they
- 19:13Speaker 1: pulled them too early. They don't know the angst of that.
- 19:15Speaker 1: So yeah, they're having fun. They have to keep this
- 19:17Speaker 1: fun once they make the playoffs.
- 19:22Speaker 2: It's a great team. It's been a lot of fun
- 19:24Speaker 2: to watch. We had Dan Shulman on the show the
- 19:26Speaker 2: last time I was hosting, and the energy is there.
- 19:29Speaker 2: It's almost like the energy when the Red Sox were
- 19:32Speaker 2: playing really well in Fenway. That's what Toronto and Rogers
- 19:35Speaker 2: Center has been like all season long. We will be
- 19:37Speaker 2: right back, guys. I want your take on this. Bill Plunkett,
- 19:41Speaker 2: who writes for the Orange County Register, covers the Dodgers
- 19:44Speaker 2: Tanner Scott saying this, I don't know if I'm tipping
- 19:46Speaker 2: or what, but they're on everything. It sucks. It was
- 19:48Speaker 2: a fastball above the zone. Maybe I'm tipping. I have
- 19:51Speaker 2: no friggin clue right now. It's terrible. I'm having the
- 19:54Speaker 2: worst year of my life. I got to be better. Obviously,
- 19:57Speaker 2: given up a lot of runs this year. The closer
- 20:01Speaker 2: of the Los Angeles Dodgers. I mean it stinks. You
- 20:03Speaker 2: feel badly for the guy. Obviously he signed a big contract.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Not getting the job done a j What is he doing?
- 20:09Speaker 2: Is he tipping? What's going on with him?
- 20:12Speaker 1: He's getting hit. This is why relievers are so volatile,
- 20:14Speaker 1: because when you're there, the best believer you've ever seen.
- 20:16Speaker 1: In the next year, they're making mistakes and guys aren't
- 20:19Speaker 1: missing him in the zone, And when you're the closer,
- 20:21Speaker 1: everything gets magnified. In the ninth inning, the three hardest
- 20:24Speaker 1: douts in baseball. I don't care what anyone says. Going
- 20:26Speaker 1: from the eighth of the ninth is the biggest jump
- 20:28Speaker 1: in baseball relieving because the bouts. People pay more attention
- 20:32Speaker 1: to those last three outs than the eighth, and they
- 20:34Speaker 1: all add up to the same. But for some reason,
- 20:35Speaker 1: those three outs of the night they're harder. So is
- 20:38Speaker 1: he doing anything different? When I watch him, he looks
- 20:39Speaker 1: like he's just missing location. He's throwing a lot more
- 20:41Speaker 1: strikes in the middle of the plate and teams are
- 20:43Speaker 1: ready for. When you're really a two pitch guy, you
- 20:45Speaker 1: got to be perfect, and he hasn't been perfect. I
- 20:48Speaker 1: would say something almost what AJ said. He's not walking enough. Guys.
- 20:53Speaker 1: I know that's crazy, but he has his career low
- 20:58Speaker 1: walk percentage. Maybe easy go alizone with that slider or
- 21:02Speaker 1: higher than high with the heater.

- 22:04Speaker 1: Dig in.
- 22:07Speaker 2: All right, guys, this just in. The Angels stink. Sam
- 22:10Speaker 2: Blum tweeted the Angels today eliminated from aos contention, got
- 22:13Speaker 2: swept in four games, clinched tenth straight season without a
- 22:16Speaker 2: winning record, struck out eighteen times and sixty two times
- 22:19Speaker 2: over the series. Use their sixth position player of the
- 22:22Speaker 2: season as a picture. It is a bad product, Aj Pierzinski.
- 22:26Speaker 2: You cannot continue to do the same things and expect
- 22:29Speaker 2: different results. That is the definition of insanity. That is
- 22:32Speaker 2: the Angels.
- 22:34Speaker 1: What was What did Dennis Screens say in Arizona?
- 22:36Speaker 2: They are we are who we thought we were or whatever.
- 22:41Speaker 1: So that's pretty much what they are with the Angels.
- 22:44Speaker 1: They don't sign pictures, they don't make smart moves. They
- 22:47Speaker 1: kind of go on a whim. There's not a lot
- 22:49Speaker 1: of continuity there. And I feel bad for Perimnes and
- 22:52Speaker 1: he seems like a really good GM and what he
- 22:55Speaker 1: does and he trying, but it sometimes he gets overruled.
- 22:58Speaker 1: And I'm mean Ron Washington goes out this year, Mike
- 23:01Speaker 1: Trout isn't having the best year. Joe Adell's been a
- 23:04Speaker 1: right spot for him. I'll say that Shanwell, Netto and
- 23:07Speaker 1: Adele that's a pretty good little threesome to start your
- 23:10Speaker 1: team with there. I don't know. It's the Angels. They
- 23:13Speaker 1: haven't been good for so long. Now it's like, what
- 23:15Speaker 1: do you do?
- 23:17Speaker 2: Move the team?
- 23:20Speaker 1: May Oh, that's not happened. We've seen that owners aren't
- 23:22Speaker 1: selling because they know they have all the answers. But
- 23:26Speaker 1: maybe now they have that young position player corps that
- 23:30Speaker 1: Arty Moreno loves and he'll be like, hey, sure you
- 23:34Speaker 1: can go and get this picture for the offseason. Maybe
- 23:39Speaker 1: I don't know, like I see him like signing like
- 23:41Speaker 1: a Framber Valdez or something, because Arti Moreno was like, well,
- 23:44Speaker 1: I saw him pitch good against us.
- 23:49Speaker 2: In the Weeds. Two weeks left in the regular season,
- 23:52Speaker 2: which MLB contenders. Aj Pierzinski have the toughest road to
- 23:56Speaker 2: the playoffs? Breaking down the schedules Part three. This from
- 23:59Speaker 2: the Athletics, Even Nesbit and Chad Jennings with a article
- 24:03Speaker 2: in The Athletic. What do you think which teams playoffs chances?
- 24:07Speaker 2: Are following the Are we following the closest?
- 24:09Speaker 1: Too?
- 24:09Speaker 2: Has the toughest road? Aja in your opinion?
- 24:14Speaker 1: Oh gosh, I mean I'm looking at these and the
- 24:16Speaker 1: one that stands out to me is I know, Seattle
- 24:18Speaker 1: ends at home, but they got to go east of
- 24:21Speaker 1: Spokane the next six games, and they go to Kansas City,
- 24:24Speaker 1: who's still live in the playoffs, and they got to
- 24:26Speaker 1: go to Houston, which obviously is still alive in the postseason.
- 24:29Speaker 1: So then where they stand after this next week, that's
- 24:31Speaker 1: the That's the key for me. Uh just who do
- 24:35Speaker 1: they how do they survive the Yeah, I mean they
- 24:38Speaker 1: get the Rockies, but then the end of the Dodgers,
- 24:39Speaker 1: and those Dodgers games could possibly still mean something. So
- 24:43Speaker 1: to me, it's Seattle just because they have to go
- 24:44Speaker 1: on the road and they don't do very well on
- 24:47Speaker 1: the road. Again, like I said, east of Spokane, if
- 24:50Speaker 1: they have to get to like Idaho, they're in trouble.
- 24:53Speaker 2: What do you think, ek Is it Seattle? Is it Houston?
- 24:57Speaker 2: I mean Seattle has the schedule all year just becau
- 25:00Speaker 2: is of a distance and all of the length of travel.
- 25:02Speaker 2: But what do you think in terms of who they
- 25:04Speaker 2: have left?
- 25:06Speaker 1: Yes, I think I think they're definitely they definitely have
- 25:08Speaker 1: tough teams left. I don't think the Royals are playing
- 25:11Speaker 1: very well. So the Mariners, you know, maybe have an easy,
- 25:16Speaker 1: easy transition into this road trip for them. But I
- 25:19Speaker 1: think I think Houston. Houston is just not playing this
- 25:24Speaker 1: unbelievable style of baseball right now that I think we're
- 25:27Speaker 1: accustomed to where it's like, Okay, we're going to just
- 25:30Speaker 1: put our foot on the gas and make the playoffs,
- 25:33Speaker 1: win the division, and do what we always do every
- 25:36Speaker 1: year in October. I really think if you're talking from
- 25:40Speaker 1: today on, I think the Astros have the tougher road
- 25:45Speaker 1: because right now, when it's close, that's when you want
- 25:48Speaker 1: to play the easy teams so you can maybe make
- 25:51Speaker 1: some separation or make up ground. It is when you
- 25:56Speaker 1: make you gain that you gain some ground on the Rangers.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Maybe the Mariners lose and you know, then you gain
- 26:03Speaker 1: you gain some ground on them. But you're sitting there
- 26:06Speaker 1: and you go, pressure's on right now, like we gotta
- 26:09Speaker 1: get going. You want to play the easy. You always
- 26:13Speaker 1: want to play the easier teams. You always want to
- 26:14Speaker 1: play at home. I do believe it is Seattle, But
- 26:17Speaker 1: I can see how you would say, hey, Houston, Houston's
- 26:20Speaker 1: in a rough spot right now. They haven't been playing well.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Seattle has been winning, but it was at home. So
- 26:26Speaker 1: do they know the confidence that we don't have in
- 26:28Speaker 1: them on the road? Who knows?
- 26:31Speaker 2: Let me ask you this. So the Astros playoff chances
- 26:34Speaker 2: right now seventy two point six percent. The key series
- 26:36Speaker 2: is we've discussed September fifteenth. That's today. You're the twenty
- 26:39Speaker 2: first versus Texas and Seattle. Which team below you? Guys?
- 26:43Speaker 2: Do we think is too high or too low? If
- 26:46Speaker 2: you're looking at the playoff chances for certain teams? The
- 26:50Speaker 2: Mets playoff chances eighty point one percent, Astro's playoff chances
- 26:53Speaker 2: seventy two point six percent, Red Sox ninety point four,
- 26:57Speaker 2: Mariners ninety six point four, Yankees ninety nine point four.
- 27:02Speaker 2: They're basically in right. Giants playoff chances nine point seven,
- 27:06Speaker 2: Guardians playoff chances eleven point three. Who's too high? Who's
- 27:11Speaker 2: too low? Let me know if I need to repeat
- 27:13Speaker 2: those percentage.
- 27:15Speaker 1: I think they're about right. I don't think there's one
- 27:17Speaker 1: because I don't think the Giants are getting in. I
- 27:18Speaker 1: don't think the Guardians are getting in. I think eleven
- 27:20Speaker 1: point three for the Guardians is too high. I think
- 27:22Speaker 1: even almost ten percent for the Giants is too high,
- 27:24Speaker 1: just because the Mets just went through the bottom of
- 27:27Speaker 1: the bottom and I feel like they're going to win
- 27:29Speaker 1: some games down the stretch here. I mean, I know
- 27:31Speaker 1: it's crazy to say that because the way they've been playing,
- 27:33Speaker 1: but every team goes to ups and downs, and the
- 27:35Speaker 1: Mets just went through it, and that win yesterday was
- 27:37Speaker 1: huge for them. So I think the I think the
- 27:40Speaker 1: Red Sox are in. I think the Yankees are in.
- 27:42Speaker 1: I think the Mariners are in. I think the Astros
- 27:44Speaker 1: are in, and so I think the Metsros. I think
- 27:46Speaker 1: there are about right. I can't say that any or
- 27:47Speaker 1: too high. Have anything some of the out teams outside
- 27:50Speaker 1: looking in is too high. Think I think the Astros.
- 27:54Speaker 1: I think the Astros that's seventy percent is too low.
- 27:58Speaker 1: I think they have a much higher percentage chance. We
- 28:01Speaker 1: just talked about who has the toughest road, and I
- 28:03Speaker 1: said the Astros, Yes, but they control their own destiny.
- 28:08Speaker 1: So to me, I feel like the Astros just figure
- 28:13Speaker 1: out how to win. So I feel like that number
- 28:15Speaker 1: if if the Mets, who have been just going through
- 28:19Speaker 1: it and have no pitching, can be at eighty percent,
- 28:22Speaker 1: I feel like the Astros should be more like an
- 28:25Speaker 1: eighty or eighty five percent. I just think I think
- 28:27Speaker 1: the playoffs are set. I think the teams are set.
- 28:31Speaker 1: But it's good fodder to talk about here on the show.
- 28:35Speaker 2: What do you think is more unlikely the Mets playoff
- 28:38Speaker 2: chances at eighty point one? I think that's too high,
- 28:41Speaker 2: but I get your point that they've just gone through
- 28:43Speaker 2: a horrible lull they're bound to bounce back at some point.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Or the Guardians at eleven point I would the Guardians
- 28:49Speaker 2: weren't even in my periphery, like, there's no way the
- 28:52Speaker 2: Guardians are making the postseason, But I don't think the
- 28:55Speaker 2: Mets are either.
- 28:57Speaker 1: You don't think the Mets are gonna make it?
- 28:59Speaker 2: I don't.
- 29:01Speaker 1: So who do you think is gonna make it over them?
- 29:04Speaker 2: I don't know. I could see I could see the
- 29:06Speaker 2: Giants or the Diamondbacks moving in.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Really I think there. I think all three are teams
- 29:13Speaker 1: that are just pooh poop kind of what I said
- 29:16Speaker 1: about the Blue Jays losing the American League East. I
- 29:21Speaker 1: just don't see how the other two teams below on
- 29:23Speaker 1: the Red Sox and Yankees, have enough to overtake them.
- 29:27Speaker 1: I don't see how the Giants. To me, I thought
- 29:30Speaker 1: the team that had the chance was the reds They
- 29:33Speaker 1: to knock the Mets out because they had that tie
- 29:37Speaker 1: breaker had they finished the season. Because that tie breaker
- 29:40Speaker 1: is huge. It's essentially like a three game lead instead
- 29:43Speaker 1: of or a two game lead instead of a three
- 29:46Speaker 1: game lead. And I thought if they stayed in it,
- 29:50Speaker 1: I think they're two and a half now. It's too much.
- 29:54Speaker 1: I think it's too much. I just don't So you
- 29:56Speaker 1: think the Mets don't make it, Wow, that would be
- 29:59Speaker 1: we would we would have something to talk about, you
- 30:02Speaker 1: know What's insane?
- 30:02Speaker 2: Though, I don't think the Mets make it, and I
- 30:05Speaker 2: didn't think the Yankees were going to make it. Obviously,
- 30:09Speaker 2: I'm probably pretty wrong about the Yankees, considering the Yankees
- 30:12Speaker 2: playoff chances are now ninety nine point four percent, but
- 30:15Speaker 2: I did not think two weeks ago the Yankees were
- 30:17Speaker 2: going to make it. Just goes to show.
- 30:18Speaker 3: You what I know, Krats, I'm gonna steal a line
- 30:21Speaker 3: right from the top here about Meyundies a cut for
- 30:25Speaker 3: every butt. I took a line that I feel like
- 30:28Speaker 3: you would enjoy, but then you stole my thunder with
- 30:31Speaker 3: show and tell. What do you have there.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Besides a huge Baduka dunk. This is my pair of
- 30:38Speaker 1: Miundies that I got. I'm not going to show you
- 30:40Speaker 1: the other pair right now because I got them on,
- 30:43Speaker 1: but it doesn't even feel like you have them on,
- 30:45Speaker 1: super soft, flexible and yet holding everything together.
- 30:50Speaker 3: I love the twenty different styles, one hundred different colors
- 30:53Speaker 3: and prints, and the micro modal fabric is what you're
- 30:57Speaker 3: talking about. Breathable, stretchy, unbelievably cozy and right now. As

- 31:21Speaker 2: Katie Wu does a great job covering the Cardinals. You
- 31:23Speaker 2: can catch them also on Foul Territory with Cardinals Territory.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Mason Winn thanked the training staff for allowing him to
- 31:29Speaker 2: play through a meniscus tear e he likely suffered months ago.
- 31:33Speaker 2: They could have shut me down three or four months ago,
- 31:35Speaker 2: but they let me go out there and play. That's
- 31:36Speaker 2: all I asked for. His season is over, guys, which
- 31:39Speaker 2: is a bummer all inmormal announcing that, but just the
- 31:44Speaker 2: thought of that playing through a meniscus tear seems ouch. Thoughts.
- 31:52Speaker 1: What a great I mean, what a great year he
- 31:57Speaker 1: had actually, and they were super proud of of how
- 32:01Speaker 1: awesome he had of a year. By the way, do
- 32:02Speaker 1: you guys know how many errors he made on the
- 32:04Speaker 1: whole year, the whole year? Without looking? How many errors
- 32:07Speaker 1: did Mason win playing one hundred and thirty games at
- 32:09Speaker 1: shortstop this year? Three? Three? Ye gien, hear that off
- 32:14Speaker 1: the top of your head craft Yeah I didn't, I didn't.
- 32:16Speaker 1: I just guessed three. He made three three errors for
- 32:20Speaker 1: the whole year playing shortstop every day. Three. So that's
- 32:23Speaker 1: a credit to him and the Cardinals coaching staff. And
- 32:26Speaker 1: how much he's improved. Three errors at shortstop all year
- 32:29Speaker 1: with a tornamentiscus pretty impressive. It's impressive because I know
- 32:33Speaker 1: I got a call from a player the other day
- 32:35Speaker 1: who was being shut down by his team who is
- 32:39Speaker 1: going to make the playoffs, and he was like, I
- 32:41Speaker 1: don't want to be shut down. I want to make
- 32:44Speaker 1: it back. I can make it back with one week
- 32:46Speaker 1: to play. And he was like, what do you think
- 32:48Speaker 1: you're He said, what do you think I should do?
- 32:50Speaker 1: I was like, well, you can get a second opinion.
- 32:52Speaker 1: I said, you can tell him you can play. But
- 32:54Speaker 1: there are teams that don't allow this. So for Mason
- 32:57Speaker 1: Win to understand that and appreciate that and say that
- 33:01Speaker 1: about his training staff, it's a lot. For a young
- 33:05Speaker 1: guy to say that and understand that that is huge.
- 33:07Speaker 1: And for a young guy to come out and say
- 33:09Speaker 1: that he played through injury, pain whatever, it was also huge.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Can a player fight, though, ek to get on that
- 33:17Speaker 2: postseason roster if the team's like you're not playing, I mean,
- 33:21Speaker 2: what what is his what is his right there?
- 33:24Speaker 1: You can fight, You can fight for it. You can
- 33:26Speaker 1: say I want to and you can start your throwing progression,
- 33:29Speaker 1: you can start your hitting progression whatever it is. But ultimately,
- 33:33Speaker 1: I think I don't know what the rule is, but
- 33:36Speaker 1: they ultimately say, well, no, you're not active yet. So
- 33:39Speaker 1: I don't. I don't know.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Hm, Guys, how much of a difference does it make
- 33:50Speaker 2: that the Mets actually snapped that losing streak. Does that
- 33:53Speaker 2: catapult them into some positivity?
- 33:55Speaker 1: Aj I said it. I said that was a huge
- 33:58Speaker 1: win for him. They won, they're stolen, they're still in
- 34:00Speaker 1: place of being at the postseason. I think that was
- 34:02Speaker 1: a huge win for him. I think they're going to
- 34:04Speaker 1: be better now. Listen again, it goes like this, it
- 34:06Speaker 1: goes like this, it goes like this. They've been down.
- 34:09Speaker 1: I think they're going to find figure out a way
- 34:11Speaker 1: to turn it around here, and I think they're going
- 34:13Speaker 1: to get in. I still think they're going to get in,
- 34:15Speaker 1: even though a lot of your bet against them, I'm not.
- 34:18Speaker 1: I am not.
- 34:19Speaker 2: I am betting against them, but I'm never right. So,
- 34:21Speaker 2: I mean, the Mets hold the tiebreaker over San fran Eric,
- 34:24Speaker 2: but not over the Reds, who look lurk. Easy for
- 34:27Speaker 2: me to say two and a half games back. The
- 34:29Speaker 2: d Backs jump the Reds with their win over the
- 34:31Speaker 2: Twins on Sunday, they remain two games back of the Mets.
- 34:34Speaker 2: I don't know. I guess I'd just rather see the
- 34:37Speaker 2: Diamondbacks in than the Mets whatever. But they're getting in
- 34:42Speaker 2: in order in what you're saying, correct, Uka, I mean,
- 34:45Speaker 2: here's the national and wild card standings. I'd like to
- 34:48Speaker 2: see Arizona in. I don't know it is what it is.
- 34:50Speaker 2: Maybe I'm an NL West girl.
- 34:52Speaker 1: I do believe. I do believe they will get in.
- 34:54Speaker 1: I think it's awesome that we have this discussion. Three
- 34:59Speaker 1: teams within striking distance. I think the other teams are
- 35:02Speaker 1: just too flawed to get there. I think had the
- 35:06Speaker 1: Diamondbacks not gotten rid of a Henneo Suarez and Josh Naylor,
- 35:11Speaker 1: maybe they would catch them. I think if there's a
- 35:13Speaker 1: team that I think could catch them, there would be
- 35:15Speaker 1: the Diamondbacks. But yes, this is huge. They had lost
- 35:18Speaker 1: eight in a row. Edwin Diaz was in and he
- 35:21Speaker 1: gave up runs, and you're like, oh my gosh, we're
- 35:24Speaker 1: gonna lose. We got an off day tomorrow, We're gonna
- 35:27Speaker 1: lose another game. We're gonna lose nine in a row,
- 35:31Speaker 1: and then we have to sit at home thinking about
- 35:32Speaker 1: it the whole time. Yes, it was huge, it was huge,
- 35:36Speaker 1: But the problem still looms Besides Nolan McLain, who else
- 35:40Speaker 1: is gonna pitch well for him? Besides Edwin Diaz, who
- 35:44Speaker 1: else is gonna pitch well? For him? You almost can't
- 35:47Speaker 1: use Ryan Helsley. And every game from here on out
- 35:50Speaker 1: is a do or die game. So yes, I'm still
- 35:54Speaker 1: worried about the Mets, but I agree with AJ. I
- 35:57Speaker 1: think they're gonna get in. I just think it is
- 35:59Speaker 1: too much, too much to get past them right now
- 36:03Speaker 1: for the Giants. For the Reds, we're two and a
- 36:06Speaker 1: half back. I know the tie breakers there, but it's tough.
- 36:10Speaker 1: The Mets would have to come out and really keep
- 36:12Speaker 1: crapping the bed.
- 36:14Speaker 2: So if the Mets get in, do they completely reset
- 36:17Speaker 2: and all of a sudden they become dangerous? Or are
- 36:20Speaker 2: they equally as weak as they limp into the postseason?
- 36:23Speaker 2: Will they be equally as weak in the playoffs?
- 36:26Speaker 1: Not if they're pitching doesn't get better, right, Not if
- 36:29Speaker 1: they're pitching doesn't get better than what it's been. They
- 36:31Speaker 1: can limp in all they want, but you're not. You're
- 36:33Speaker 1: only as dangerous as you're pitching and your hitting is.
- 36:35Speaker 1: And right now, their hitting has been okay, it hasn't
- 36:37Speaker 1: been great, it's been far from great. But their pitching
- 36:40Speaker 1: has been the real story, especially the starters and their bullpen,
- 36:42Speaker 1: I mean, Diaz Hellsley, all those guys, Rogers at the
- 36:45Speaker 1: back end have not been what they thought. So it's
- 36:48Speaker 1: been it's been kind of a mess in Mets Land.
- 36:54Speaker 1: If I'm looking at it like just in a very
- 36:56Speaker 1: thirty thousand foot view kind of thing. They play about
- 37:00Speaker 1: a six to seven inning game with their pitching. Their
- 37:03Speaker 1: starters go four to five innings. Then you have Rogers
- 37:09Speaker 1: who has done well, and I think you can trust
- 37:11Speaker 1: DZ from there, like you're in the sixth or seventh inning.
- 37:16Speaker 1: I know it's not they're not going to go right
- 37:18Speaker 1: into those guys. But when you look at the playoffs,
- 37:20Speaker 1: you're going your best, dude. So you're going Nolan McClain,
- 37:24Speaker 1: David Peterson right now, and then you have Game three,
- 37:28Speaker 1: and then you have like this is this is where
- 37:31Speaker 1: the Mets have to They have to find some magic.
- 37:34Speaker 1: That's what happens in the playoffs. But they have to
- 37:36Speaker 1: find magic. They have to find somebody who's going to
- 37:40Speaker 1: give them those last two innings, whether it's the fifth
- 37:44Speaker 1: inning and sixth inning, to bridge to seven, eight nine,
- 37:48Speaker 1: you might be able to get Rogers, and Rogers and
- 37:50Speaker 1: DZ might be able to give you six outs. But
- 37:53Speaker 1: right now, unless this offense, which they can they have
- 37:56Speaker 1: the capability of doing it, just absolutely start mashing in
- 38:00Speaker 1: is hot hot, red hot going into the playoffs. I
- 38:04Speaker 1: have a tough time backing the Mets right now.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Let's assume the Mets get in postseason starts tomorrow, three
- 38:11Speaker 2: game series. Who has the most lethal starting rotation in
- 38:15Speaker 2: the National League? Of the teams that are in.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Are the Dodgers, Yamato, Glassdown, Snow? Yeah, I mean, who
- 38:23Speaker 1: else would it be? Philly's gonna have to play a
- 38:28Speaker 1: three game series.
- 38:29Speaker 2: I'm just saying if it was no, no, No, I'm not.
- 38:31Speaker 2: I'm not We're not doing the bracket. I'm just saying,
- 38:33Speaker 2: of the three teams everyone's in, of the teams that
- 38:35Speaker 2: are in, who has the most lethal?
- 38:38Speaker 1: For me, it's still Yama Moto, Glassnow, and Snow if
- 38:40Speaker 1: they're on proper rest and they're right. I mean, Glasnow
- 38:43Speaker 1: has has given up like one hit in like twenty innings.
- 38:45Speaker 1: It's been crazy how good he's been and ya had
- 38:49Speaker 1: a great year. We all know what Blake Snow can
- 38:51Speaker 1: do and he's done it in the playoffs. So for me,
- 38:52Speaker 1: it's not it's those three, Okay, New York. I don't
- 38:56Speaker 1: think it's even close. I mean, even if doesn't catch.
- 39:01Speaker 1: I mean, these guys are there. I joke about that,
- 39:04Speaker 1: but he's done an amazing job back there like they
- 39:08Speaker 1: are they are. If there's any type of unit that
- 39:12Speaker 1: you're talking about from a team, whether it's pitching, starting, starting, pitching, bullpen,
- 39:17Speaker 1: or a lineup, I don't think there's a better unit
- 39:21Speaker 1: that's getting hot going into the playoffs than the starting
- 39:25Speaker 1: rotation that the top end of the starting rotation for
- 39:28Speaker 1: the Dodgers.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Well, you know, I like that before we go to break.
- 39:33Speaker 1: Really, Alana, think about this, think about this for the
- 39:37Speaker 1: two wildcard matchups right now? Two of the four wildcard
- 39:39Speaker 1: matchups Dodgers Mets and Yankees Red Sox Phenomens, right, I mean,
- 39:45Speaker 1: how good is how good going to be?
- 39:48Speaker 2: Speak speaking of Yankees Red Sox, You guys, Red Sox,
- 39:52Speaker 2: that six run first inning yesterday really helped them because
- 39:54Speaker 2: they needed everything because the Yankees were working their way
- 39:56Speaker 2: back into the game. Yanks went on Saturday. Obviously, Crochet
- 40:01Speaker 2: amazing if those two meet up in the postseason, Yankees
- 40:06Speaker 2: lost the season series, But it's how good are you
- 40:08Speaker 2: playing right now? Who you taking.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Crochet lined up for game one? Because he's done, he's
- 40:16Speaker 1: pretty much he's done really well against Yankees.
- 40:18Speaker 2: Hey, you got to figure Crochet, Bao Gilio, right.
- 40:21Speaker 1: That's three against three Rodan and Heel.
- 40:26Speaker 2: My guess is yes, I.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Think Slitler is over Heel right now, just based on
- 40:32Speaker 1: his strikeouts and how they like rank who is who
- 40:36Speaker 1: is going to be the best? He's he's not racking
- 40:38Speaker 1: up the strikeouts. So the Yankees probably would value Slitler
- 40:42Speaker 1: over them.
- 40:44Speaker 2: That's a tough one to say. I don't say that fast.
- 40:46Speaker 2: You could get into some trouble. All right, coming up,
- 40:48Speaker 2: we are slapping hands next, we'll be right back.

- 42:28Speaker 1: O too. I can't go in there. I don't stay
- 42:30Speaker 1: in his own very long.
- 42:32Speaker 2: All right, how many how many career home runs did
- 42:34Speaker 2: you have? Kratzy thirty one, thirty one and.
- 42:39Speaker 1: AJ one hundred and I don't even know hundred and
- 42:43Speaker 1: around one hundred. It was just short of two hundred.
- 42:46Speaker 1: So it was like one ninety or one eighty five
- 42:48Speaker 1: to two hundred, I don't know. I guess it's one
- 42:50Speaker 1: eighty six. I don't know, So somebody will somewhere. It
- 42:57Speaker 1: was around one ninety. It was short of two hundred.
- 42:59Speaker 2: I know that you had a great career. By the way,
- 43:01Speaker 2: Baseball America's Hot sheet is at three point thirty pm
- 43:04Speaker 2: today on Baseball America's YouTube channel. Thanks so it's one

- 43:21Speaker 2: on you. It goes with your eyes. I have no
- 43:22Speaker 2: idea what color your eyes are. But we're just gonna
