- 0:00Speaker 1: You don't understand that the misfit is part of the
- 0:05Speaker 1: methodology of God. He never intended for you to fit
- 0:11Speaker 1: if you would have fit in with the Hebrews, you
- 0:16Speaker 1: can't lead what you fit in with. If you would
- 0:26Speaker 1: to fit in with the Egyptians. You can't rebuke a
- 0:30Speaker 1: devil you've been sleeping with. This is the maybe you've
- 0:41Speaker 1: been down in a rut saying Lord, why did I
- 0:44Speaker 1: have to go through that? Why? Wild?
- 0:45Speaker 2: Why? Wild white? I want you to understand.
- 0:48Speaker 1: You need to stop whining and understand that these were
- 0:51Speaker 1: steps on the road to destiny. The steps of a
- 0:54Speaker 1: good man are ordered by the Lord, and you are
- 0:56Speaker 1: to delight as God delights in the way it caused.
- 1:00Speaker 1: My friend, nothing that you've been through. Shelby wasted. Jethro
- 1:06Speaker 1: told Moses to lead the sheep old, smelly, dirty, stinky
- 1:17Speaker 1: sheep look good on them pictures and stuff. But I
- 1:20Speaker 1: was out in Jerusalem and I actually got to go
- 1:23Speaker 1: out there where the sheep were. See, when you see
- 1:25Speaker 1: them in the picture, you can't smell the picture and stuff.
- 1:28Speaker 1: But when you actually go out there where the sheep are, yes,
- 1:35Speaker 1: it'll make you carry some glade and some light salt
- 1:39Speaker 1: and some pine salt.
- 1:40Speaker 2: And you know how white.
- 1:41Speaker 1: They are in the pictures and stuff in real life.
- 1:43Speaker 1: The oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no no,
- 1:48Speaker 1: that's photo enhancement. Yeah, yeah, it's a kind of it's
- 2:10Speaker 1: not older, it's o'dor this is a French term. Yes,
- 2:16Speaker 1: indeed they said moodel this were insect aside or something.
- 2:21Speaker 1: I know they don't have to worry about mosquitoes. Nothing
- 2:23Speaker 1: would want to bite, none to smell like that. And
- 2:28Speaker 1: he's in this environment, and I know, I know the
- 2:34Speaker 1: enemy must have been saying, where is your God? Now
- 2:41Speaker 1: you out here? I thought you had a mighty destiny.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Your mama call you Moses for being drawn out. I
- 2:49Speaker 1: thought there was a king and a mighty man and
- 2:51Speaker 1: a general in you. And all you going through is
- 2:55Speaker 1: is survival techniques for a desert. You don't even you
- 3:02Speaker 1: didn't even come up in. Look at you running around here.
- 3:07Speaker 2: You the king of a sheep.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Every so often, you'll go through a period in your
- 3:17Speaker 1: life that seems like all of your real skills are
- 3:20Speaker 1: being wasted. It will feel like you're not being used
- 3:26Speaker 1: to your highest potential. It will feel like you're living
- 3:30Speaker 1: beneath your privilege. And if you're not careful, you will
- 3:34Speaker 1: secretly see yourself as a failure because you don't see
- 3:39Speaker 1: yourself operating in the way that you dream that you would.
- 3:45Speaker 1: And he's just running around there saying, at least it
- 3:48Speaker 1: didn't kill me, and at least I escaped Egypt, and
- 3:52Speaker 1: I'm making the best of a bad situation. And all
- 3:55Speaker 1: of a sudden he has an epiphany, just walks up on.
- 4:02Speaker 1: It wasn't fastened for, it wasn't praying for, it wasn't
- 4:06Speaker 1: talking in tongues, just walked up on. It didn't even
- 4:09Speaker 1: be expected, just blew his mind. You know, God is
- 4:14Speaker 1: a master of suddenly. I'm gonna say that again. See
- 4:21Speaker 1: if you understand that God is the master of suddenly,
- 4:25Speaker 1: that means sometimes your life will take a turn you
- 4:28Speaker 1: never even saw coming.
- 4:30Speaker 2: It won't be no.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Gradual progress, no evolution that leads to a revolution. It'll
- 4:36Speaker 1: be suddenly straightway, immediately out of nowhere. One phone call,
- 4:42Speaker 1: one meeting, one person, one time, one job, and your
- 4:46Speaker 1: whole life, red thing about the next forty years is
- 4:52Speaker 1: about to change.
- 4:53Speaker 2: I don't know who.
- 4:54Speaker 1: I'm talking to, but get ready, get ready, get ready,
- 4:56Speaker 1: get ready, get ready, get ready, get ready, get ready
- 4:59Speaker 1: to get ready, getting ready to get rid out.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Thank god he walked.
- 5:11Speaker 1: He's walking through the woods and walking through the desert
- 5:15Speaker 1: that he has now gotten used to. He's been there
- 5:17Speaker 1: forty years. He's eighty years old. He's eighty years old
- 5:21Speaker 1: before he got it straight. It took him eighty years
- 5:29Speaker 1: before he really figured out who he was. I know,
- 5:33Speaker 1: I ain't a discouraging He looked at me like I
- 5:38Speaker 1: might well just slit my wrist and die. Yeah, eighty
- 5:44Speaker 1: years he had an epiphany. Eighty years of not being
- 5:50Speaker 1: sure and not being secure in eighty years, of not
- 5:53Speaker 1: having a definite in eighty years, and not having an
- 5:55Speaker 1: absoluteness eighty years, of an identity crisis in eighty years,
- 6:00Speaker 1: as an uncertainty in eighty years, are not quite fitting
- 6:03Speaker 1: in with anybody. He couldn't quite bond with the Egyptians,
- 6:09Speaker 1: he couldn't quite bond with the Midianites. He couldn't quite
- 6:13Speaker 1: bond with the Hebrews. He was acquainted with all, but
- 6:17Speaker 1: connected to none. I want to talk to misfit people. Yeah,
- 6:26Speaker 1: misfit people. They come in all colors and both genders.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Some are Democrats, some are Republicans. Some of brunettes, some
- 6:34Speaker 1: of redheads, some of them got afros, some of them.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Wear balls, some of wear faith. Misfit people.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Some of them are educated, some of them are not educated.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Some of them are beautiful, some of them not so beautiful.
- 6:43Speaker 1: But they're misfit people. You know this from the inside
- 6:46Speaker 1: of you that no matter what you tried to do
- 6:49Speaker 1: to rest in and fit in with people.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Something always happens. It makes you jump up.
- 6:54Speaker 1: And get out the nest because you never quite fit
- 6:58Speaker 1: with anybody.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 7:00Speaker 1: It may only be ten of you in here, but
- 7:02Speaker 1: there's a few misfit people who understand what I'm talking about.
- 7:07Speaker 1: And see, you don't understand that the misfit is part
- 7:14Speaker 1: of the methodology of God. He never intended for you
- 7:18Speaker 1: to fit If you would have fit in with the Hebrews,
- 7:25Speaker 1: you can't lead what you fit in with. If you
- 7:35Speaker 1: would have fit in with the Egyptians, you can't rebuke
- 7:39Speaker 1: a devil you've been sleeping with. If you would have
- 7:46Speaker 1: fit in with the Midianites, you would have missed your
- 7:49Speaker 1: destiny and built a house in a desert that God
- 7:53Speaker 1: never intended for you to stay in. And so that
- 7:56Speaker 1: feeling of never fitting in.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Is not that you were lost.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Is that God is leading you from faith to faith
- 8:05Speaker 1: and from glory to glory, because the steps of a
- 8:09Speaker 1: good man are ordered by the Lord, and the Lord
- 8:13Speaker 1: delighted in this way, nods that they would say, take
- 8:16Speaker 1: another step. You're right on the edge. You're right on
- 8:20Speaker 1: the verge God has you set up. The reason you're
- 8:24Speaker 1: in this service this morning is that God's about to
- 8:27Speaker 1: give you an epiphany, a burning bus. It's time to
- 8:31Speaker 1: take another step into your purpose and into your destiny.
- 8:35Speaker 1: If you hear the words that are coming out of
- 8:38Speaker 1: my mouth, give your God some praise. Look at your neighbors,
- 8:57Speaker 1: say I dare you, I dare you, I double dog
- 9:04Speaker 1: dare you to take another step. You're right on the
- 9:09Speaker 1: verge of stepping into your purpose, into your destiny. If
- 9:14Speaker 1: you don't give up, if you don't bathe me yourself,
- 9:17Speaker 1: if you go ahead and push yourself and get.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Hold up out of this mess. I dare you.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, nothing they can say.
- 9:34Speaker 2: It's not over.
- 9:36Speaker 1: God is not finished with you. God is about to
- 9:39Speaker 1: do something amazing in your life. Take another step, Take
- 9:47Speaker 1: another step, Take another step, take another step, take another step.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Still to come on the pottery stats.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I'll let you cry.
- 9:56Speaker 1: I'll let you learn how to scrape and script and
- 9:59Speaker 1: shave and do without and make it without this, and
- 10:03Speaker 1: make it without that, and make it without the other.
- 10:05Speaker 1: It never meant that I wasn't gonna bless you. It
- 10:09Speaker 1: just meant that I wanted you to be able to
- 10:11Speaker 1: help somebody else who would go through a situation.
- 10:14Speaker 2: And you can tell them this is how you make
- 10:16Speaker 2: it in this environment.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Because I've been there myself, and the same God that
- 10:23Speaker 1: brought me out of my situation, well bring you out
- 10:28Speaker 1: or I feel something in here. Shake your neighbors say,
- 10:32Speaker 1: it's not wasted. When I talk about good being the
- 10:41Speaker 1: enemy of great when you are a very talented person,
- 10:43Speaker 1: you don't have to use your full strength to be
- 10:45Speaker 1: able to get by because your environment standards may be
- 10:49Speaker 1: lower than greatness. It is easy for you to appear
- 10:54Speaker 1: exceptional when you're really gifted, without really studying, without really
- 10:58Speaker 1: developing yourself in the world. In the string, we call
- 11:01Speaker 1: it getting over. And I say that good is the
- 11:04Speaker 1: enemy of great because really talented people can do good
- 11:07Speaker 1: without effort. But the tragedy of that, the tragedy of
- 11:12Speaker 1: that compromised greatness is that you never discover who you
- 11:15Speaker 1: were meant to be. Because they were so easily satisfied
- 11:19Speaker 1: with so much less, they missed the opportunity to meet
- 11:22Speaker 1: the greater self within you. And so what I am
- 11:25Speaker 1: saying to people that if you think that there is
- 11:27Speaker 1: greatness down inside of you, don't let the counterfeit experience
- 11:32Speaker 1: of being good stop you from the pursuit of greatness.
- 11:35Speaker 1: And when he took that next step, then he ran
- 11:39Speaker 1: into this epiphany. This this oh my god, this burning bush. Wow,
- 11:54Speaker 1: it has something. And he kept on going. But he
- 12:00Speaker 1: turned aside to see, if I expose you to something
- 12:05Speaker 1: and you can keep walking, it's not for you. I
- 12:18Speaker 1: would I was teaching the leadership class. I was mentoring
- 12:21Speaker 1: a young pastor. I was teaching the leadership class, and
- 12:24Speaker 1: while I was teaching, I could tell that he wasn't
- 12:28Speaker 1: connecting at all. And I immediately decided not to invest
- 12:32Speaker 1: any more energy, because if I expose you to something
- 12:37Speaker 1: and it don't draw you, it's not for you. See,
- 12:42Speaker 1: if it was for you, even if you try to
- 12:46Speaker 1: walk away, if you try to walk away, something would
- 12:53Speaker 1: make you turn.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Aside to see. Listen, had to ticket here because work oh, oh,
- 13:03Speaker 2: my God, this is where it gets good. See.
- 13:06Speaker 1: God didn't speak to him when he saw the bush.
- 13:11Speaker 2: He didn't see it. He didn't speak to.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Him when he was exposed to the bush. But the
- 13:16Speaker 1: Bible said that when the Lord saw that, Moses turned
- 13:21Speaker 1: back around. When he saw that Moses was attracted to
- 13:26Speaker 1: what he had been exposed to, God said, now I
- 13:29Speaker 1: can talk to you on another level. Oh, y'all, or
- 13:33Speaker 1: hear what I'm saying, I said. They even say, how
- 13:40Speaker 1: bad do you want it?
- 13:43Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 13:44Speaker 1: Do you want it bad enough to keep turning back
- 13:49Speaker 1: to look at it again? And I don't know what
- 13:51Speaker 1: it means, but it's drawing me, and I don't understand it,
- 13:55Speaker 1: but it's pulling that me and I don't know what's
- 13:57Speaker 1: gonna come out of it, but some kind of way,
- 14:00Speaker 1: my destiny is tied to that bush. And I can't
- 14:04Speaker 1: walk away from a bush that holds the secret.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Oh my, my, my, my, my, Oh.
- 14:11Speaker 1: I better not do that this morning. I feel like preaching. Now,
- 14:15Speaker 1: tell your neighbor, your destiny is in the fire. Your
- 14:20Speaker 1: destiny is in the fire. If you run from the fire,
- 14:23Speaker 1: you will run from your destiny. Your destiny is in
- 14:27Speaker 1: the problem. Your destiny is in the storm. Your destiny is.
- 14:31Speaker 2: In the fight.
- 14:37Speaker 1: And when the Lord saw that what Moses had been
- 14:41Speaker 1: exposed to kept drawing him back, then God called unto him.
- 14:48Speaker 1: God didn't call unto him until he turned aside. When
- 14:53Speaker 1: he turned aside, God said, Moses, Moses, have you got
- 14:57Speaker 1: something calling you you don't understand, pulling at you that
- 15:01Speaker 1: you can't put your finger on, challenging you.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Take off your shoes for the ground.
- 15:12Speaker 1: You stand on. This is what do you mean the ground?
- 15:18Speaker 1: This is ground I stand on every day. I've been
- 15:20Speaker 1: standing on this ground for forty years. Well, how is
- 15:23Speaker 1: this holy ground? It wasn't holy last week? It wasn't
- 15:27Speaker 1: standing on sheep dung? What's holy about this ground? It's
- 15:32Speaker 1: holy because I'm there. Every place, every stage, every stage
- 15:44Speaker 1: of your life is holy because God is here. So
- 15:50Speaker 1: why are you worshiping the last stage? Why aren't you
- 15:57Speaker 1: discovering God in the stage of life you're in, rather
- 16:04Speaker 1: than wishing for the stage you were in, or waiting
- 16:08Speaker 1: on the stage you're going to. Why don't you have
- 16:12Speaker 1: the bush where you are? Things that make you say ah?
- 16:21Speaker 1: And all of a sudden God says to him, this
- 16:24Speaker 1: is holy ground, saying a holy ground. This ain't this
- 16:31Speaker 1: stinking ground. Ain't no holy ground. Sheep dung all over
- 16:35Speaker 1: the floor. How it's this holy ground? This ain't no
- 16:37Speaker 1: holy ground. Got me out here sweating, ain't working. This
- 16:41Speaker 1: ain't no holy ground out here?
- 16:43Speaker 4: Up pair sucking water out of roots and cactuses and
- 16:46Speaker 4: stuff like that, and the killing snakes and all of
- 16:50Speaker 4: that kind of stuff, dealing with serpents and all that
- 16:53Speaker 4: kind of stuff.
- 16:53Speaker 1: How's this holy ground? Gotta watch what water you drink?
- 16:57Speaker 1: Some of us bitter and some of us not bitter.
- 16:59Speaker 1: How is this crown? This don't make no sense.
- 17:01Speaker 2: They are your shoes.
- 17:03Speaker 1: The crown you stand on is holy ground. If you
- 17:08Speaker 1: curse the way God lets you, you will not reach
- 17:15Speaker 1: the place he's taking you to.
- 17:20Speaker 2: So here he is, and.
- 17:22Speaker 1: God says to him, now, I'm gonna show you why
- 17:27Speaker 1: it took you this way. You were trying to lead
- 17:31Speaker 1: the children of Israel someplace you had never been yourself.
- 17:39Speaker 1: And if I would have let you leave forty years ago,
- 17:42Speaker 1: you would have led them into a wilderness that neither
- 17:45Speaker 1: one of you had ever seen before. But I'll let
- 17:49Speaker 1: you go through the wilderness first, so that now when
- 17:58Speaker 1: you get ready to lead some you will have some
- 18:01Speaker 1: credibility through the things you have suffered. Am I preaching
- 18:08Speaker 1: to somebody in here? I let you suffer, I let
- 18:14Speaker 1: you cry. I let you learn how to scrape and
- 18:18Speaker 1: script and shave and do without, and make it without this,
- 18:22Speaker 1: and make it without that, and make it without the other.
- 18:25Speaker 1: It never meant that I wasn't gonna bless you. It
- 18:28Speaker 1: just meant that I wanted you to be able to
- 18:30Speaker 1: help somebody else who would go through a situation. And
- 18:34Speaker 1: you can tell them this is how you make it
- 18:37Speaker 1: in this environment, because I've been there myself, and the
- 18:41Speaker 1: same God that brought me out of my situation will
- 18:46Speaker 1: bring you out. Or I feel something in here. Shake
- 18:53Speaker 1: your neighbors say, it's not wasted. It's not wasted. What's
- 19:00Speaker 1: went through, how you suffered, how you cried, how you
- 19:04Speaker 1: had to scrape, how you had to raise the kids
- 19:07Speaker 1: by yourself, how you had to work two jobs, how
- 19:11Speaker 1: you had to scratch your way up. It is not
- 19:15Speaker 1: waist side. I was almost grown before I realized that
- 19:37Speaker 1: when we were little, we were poor.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I didn't know that. I didn't I didn't I didn't
- 19:47Speaker 2: know that.
- 19:48Speaker 1: I do remember not knowing what spaghetti sauce was, because
- 19:54Speaker 1: you remember how Mama used to cook noodles and pour
- 19:56Speaker 1: ketchup on it.
- 20:01Speaker 2: What is a meatball? I didn't know that.
- 20:08Speaker 1: How could you be somebody who takes your kids to
- 20:11Speaker 1: ballets and plays and symphonies and then go home and
- 20:16Speaker 1: feed them spaghetti and ketchup. From spaghetti and ketchup on
- 20:25Speaker 1: one side to ballets and symphonies on the other, the
- 20:35Speaker 1: spaghetti and ketchup is saying one thing, and the ballet
- 20:39Speaker 1: and symphony is.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Is saying another.
- 20:44Speaker 1: I didn't My father was the janitor with a mob
- 20:47Speaker 1: of a bucket and turned it into a business. And
- 20:50Speaker 1: I used to hear them talk about taxes and corporate
- 20:52Speaker 1: taxes and what had to be paid and quarterly taxes,
- 20:55Speaker 1: the quarterly taxes. If you don't pay the quarterly taxes,
- 20:58Speaker 1: you're going to be penalized. I wasn't paying no tendent.
- 21:00Speaker 1: I was playing in the back and tired of sitting
- 21:02Speaker 1: in the car, sitting in the car at miss Rutherves's house,
- 21:06Speaker 1: at missus Rutherfus's house, hours.
- 21:08Speaker 2: In the car.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Hat to put our parents in jail now for leaving
- 21:11Speaker 1: us in the car. But when you poor. You can't
- 21:23Speaker 1: die because it's hot. That's something rich people do. Poor
- 21:31Speaker 1: people fan hard. Oh, y'all don't understand what I'm talking about.
- 21:38Speaker 1: When you ain't got no money, you.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Just learn how to fan. Baby.
- 21:47Speaker 1: God has a way of taking all these disconnected little
- 21:51Speaker 1: pieces of your life that make no sense. How you suffered,
- 21:54Speaker 1: who didn't raise you, who didn't love you, who wasn't
- 21:57Speaker 1: there for you. Things you learn how to do that seem,
- 21:59Speaker 1: like me, no sense, and they look like delays. They
- 22:04Speaker 1: look like delays. But God sent me here to tell
- 22:08Speaker 1: you that nothing that you've been through will be wasted.
- 22:15Speaker 1: I don't know what that means to you, and I
- 22:21Speaker 1: don't know what you and him been talking about. All
- 22:24Speaker 1: I know is that he smoke to me and told
- 22:26Speaker 1: me to preach this morning that nothing you've been through,
- 22:30Speaker 1: not one tear that you said, nothing that you learned,
- 22:35Speaker 1: nobody who left you, nobody who walked out on you, nothing.
- 22:39Speaker 2: You had to endure, was wasted.
- 22:42Speaker 1: God's going to use everything you've been through to get
- 22:47Speaker 1: you ready for what He's about to.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Do in your life.
- 22:51Speaker 1: If that word means something to you, give God somebody.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Listen.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Let's take a little time out for the cause and
- 23:11Speaker 1: we'll be back for more just a moment.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Don't settle in your nest when you should be story.
- 23:16Speaker 5: It's time to fly.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Every time I try to sit out whatever less than
- 23:21Speaker 1: what I was created to me some sticks men.
- 23:23Speaker 2: I gotta get up and fry and dead.
- 23:26Speaker 1: There are certain situations that God would make so unbearable
- 23:29Speaker 1: that you don't have to discern that it's time to go.
- 23:32Speaker 1: It's almost impossible to stay. What's wrong with you is
- 23:37Speaker 1: all those people who knew your win. They can if
- 23:40Speaker 1: they know you win, they'll hold you the back dead.
- 23:44Speaker 2: I gotta go.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Don't let the counterfeit experience of being good stop you
- 23:50Speaker 1: from the pursuit of greatness.
- 23:52Speaker 5: For helping us reach others with your best gift, we
- 23:54Speaker 5: would like to give you time to fly a four
