Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Sandy and Cole 97 one Hank FF.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Good morning.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Are you feeling good with the heat?
- 0:08Speaker 3: No, I, I, we like, I, I was telling my
- 0:12Speaker 3: wife yesterday, I was like, man, I want to go
- 0:15Speaker 3: do something, but I was like, there's just not like,
- 0:18Speaker 3: it's too hot. It's too hot to leave the house.
- 0:20Speaker 2: My husband keeps asking me that after dinner. He's like,
- 0:22Speaker 2: what do you want to do? I was like, what
- 0:23Speaker 2: do you mean? What, what is there to do? It
- 0:26Speaker 2: is still hot out. Even as a son. Is going down.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I tried to sit on my patio furniture yesterday.
- 0:33Speaker 4: Oh no.
- 0:34Speaker 2: I burned my butt.
- 0:36Speaker 3: It's too hot for that.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I was like, how are these dogs laying on this
- 0:40Speaker 1: concrete patio and not just scalding themselves? Like, oh, you know,
- 0:43Speaker 1: they're laid out there. Maybe I'll go sit out for
- 0:45Speaker 1: a second. I was like, no, no, you won't. You
- 0:48Speaker 1: won't just sit out there for a second today. Going
- 0:50Speaker 1: to get up near 96 again. He didn't X about
- 0:53Speaker 1: one Oh five. So once again, going to need to
- 0:55Speaker 1: use some extra caution as you start your day.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Did you go about your day? I was so lazy.
- 1:01Speaker 1: I didn't want to go to the grocery store yesterday
- 1:02Speaker 1: because I thought I'd have to carry the groceries.
- 1:05Speaker 2: I was like, that just seemed like too much in
- 1:08Speaker 2: the heat.
- 1:08Speaker 1: We've got $ 500 back in the new country cash jackpot.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Had a winner yesterday. Sarah using the money to fix
- 1:16Speaker 2: something at her house. You know, fix a break. Still
- 1:18Speaker 2: went out in her car.
- 1:21Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:22Speaker 2: I'm just reading this now. This is our problem.
- 1:24Speaker 3: We open emails.
- 1:25Speaker 2: We don't read the full email. We're known for this.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Her car breaks in her car just went out and
- 1:29Speaker 1: then she won new country cash.
- 1:31Speaker 2: It was like the universe was like here.
- 1:32Speaker 3: I love that.
- 1:33Speaker 2: We'll help you with that. You can win today. 850
- 1:36Speaker 2: will tell you what.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Time they did. Have we gone too far with the
- 1:42Speaker 3: pumpkin spiced everything? Really? Right.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I like to argue that pumpkin spice isn't even the
- 1:49Speaker 1: best fall flavor.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Oh, OK. What do you think?
- 1:53Speaker 2: Like apple cider is the best fall flavor.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Oh, well, this is good news for you then, actually,
- 1:59Speaker 3: because this is about pumpkin spice and spiced apple cider.
- 2:04Speaker 3: They are now available on Amazon if you need them
- 2:07Speaker 3: for liquid and acids and pumpkin spice and spiced apple
- 2:11Speaker 3: cider flavor.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Why, though?
- 2:18Speaker 1: Are they only available in the fall season? Do they
- 2:22Speaker 1: do a drop like they do at Starbucks where all
- 2:24Speaker 1: the fall flavors come out?
- 2:27Speaker 2: I guess so. Indies number one for new country.
- 2:29Speaker 1: 97.1 Hank FM.
- 2:31Speaker 2: That's the latest from Brantley Gilbert. Did you see that
- 2:35Speaker 2: CD revenue surged 60% so far in 2026? People are
- 2:38Speaker 2: buying CDs again.
- 2:45Speaker 3: I mean, how many more CDs? The CD sales had
- 2:48Speaker 3: to have been pretty low.
- 2:49Speaker 2: So it's just picking up from there.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Just like six more CDs.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I always get made fun of because my car is
- 2:54Speaker 1: probably one of the last ones on the planet that
- 2:55Speaker 1: still has a CD player.
- 2:57Speaker 3: You know what, though? I wish we had more CD players.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I was thinking about this, not just with CDs.
- 3:05Speaker 1: They say, by the way, it's because K-pop music, they
- 3:08Speaker 1: do a lot of different CD packaging that are collectible items.
- 3:13Speaker 1: So that's what's surging now. like CD sales in the
- 3:15Speaker 1: United States, which I didn't know that that would be
- 3:17Speaker 1: what it was. But one thing that I did notice,
- 3:20Speaker 1: especially after Dolly Parton passed away is I want to
- 3:23Speaker 1: go watch Dolly Parton movies. You know, like I want
- 3:27Speaker 1: to go watch one of my favorites is not like
- 3:29Speaker 1: one of the main talk. I was like, I have
- 3:31Speaker 1: to buy a movie from 1990 whatever to watch it.
- 3:36Speaker 1: So I had to find a bootleg copy of it
- 3:38Speaker 1: on YouTube and watch that.
- 3:39Speaker 2: And I was like, what happened when we just could
- 3:41Speaker 2: go get.
- 3:42Speaker 3: I know when you like get like physical media instead
- 3:45Speaker 3: of the digital ones. I know because that was something
- 3:48Speaker 3: that and this was, I don't know, six, seven years
- 3:52Speaker 3: ago when we were first moving in together, my wife
- 3:54Speaker 3: and I. that I have all these DVDs and Blu-rays.
- 3:57Speaker 3: And she's like, why do you have all of these?
- 3:59Speaker 3: You can just get them online now. But if you
- 4:02Speaker 3: don't have the physical copy, and maybe there is no
- 4:06Speaker 3: option to buy it. It's just gone. There's no way
- 4:08Speaker 3: to get it.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Excited that we're just a couple weeks away from our
- 4:11Speaker 1: next Annie and Cole Up Close concert, this time with
- 4:14Speaker 1: Preston Cooper. And there is still time to get signed
- 4:17Speaker 1: up and be a part of a pretty cool night
- 4:19Speaker 1: with our friends from Jack Daniels. Hankfm.com for all of
- 4:23Speaker 1: those details.
- 4:24Speaker 3: We are coming up on a lot of birthdays. You
- 4:27Speaker 3: have a birthday here in just a few days, really.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Baby Josie's birthday is also just in a few days.
- 4:34Speaker 3: My birthday is next month. My wife's birthday is the
- 4:36Speaker 3: month right after that. So I want to see what
- 4:38Speaker 3: you think about this. Who's in the wrong coming up?
- 4:40Speaker 3: And it's all about birthday presents today.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Annie and Cole. Who's in the wrong? I haven't done
- 4:48Speaker 2: anything wrong.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Did I explain it wrong?
- 4:49Speaker 2: Okay, explain to me exactly what I did wrong.
- 4:54Speaker 3: A woman bought her husband an expensive gift for his birthday.
- 4:58Speaker 3: He thanked her but admitted it wasn't something he actually
- 5:02Speaker 3: wanted and he asked if he could return it. She
- 5:06Speaker 3: got upset, said he should appreciate it, thought, instead of
- 5:09Speaker 3: complaining about it.
- 5:11Speaker 1: I don't think you can ask your spouse if you
- 5:13Speaker 1: can return the gift they got you.
- 5:16Speaker 2: I do hope that maybe they would know you.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Well enough to not get you the gift that you
- 5:21Speaker 1: wouldn't want, but I don't think That you can ask them,
- 5:26Speaker 1: because I'm speaking from personal experience here, because one Christmas.
- 5:32Speaker 2: My husband Rob bought me a tablet. And I didn't
- 5:37Speaker 2: want a tablet.
- 5:40Speaker 1: And I said it out loud during family Christmas with
- 5:43Speaker 1: a disappointed face. That was probably 13 years ago, and
- 5:47Speaker 1: he still brings it.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Up every Christmas.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Oh, no. Just....
- 5:55Speaker 1: Accept the gift even if it's not something you want
- 5:58Speaker 1: because I tell you it will linger yeah my family
- 6:03Speaker 1: even brings.
- 6:03Speaker 2: It up not just my husband well.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Yeah you like pointed it out right there in front
- 6:08Speaker 3: of everyone at family Christmas maybe don't do that part
- 6:10Speaker 3: maybe at least bring it home and be like hey
- 6:12Speaker 3: I admitted.
- 6:13Speaker 1: A point that that's not what I wanted and I
- 6:15Speaker 1: got it anyway you know what I mean like I
- 6:17Speaker 1: get it I was in the wrong I understand but.
- 6:21Speaker 2: I don't I don't know if you.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Can ask It's specifically your spouse.
- 6:30Speaker 2: To return something.
- 6:32Speaker 3: I'm trying to play the other side of this now
- 6:36Speaker 3: that you've told that story. And I don't know that
- 6:38Speaker 3: I can. I'm like, all right. Yeah, that that seems
- 6:42Speaker 3: legit to me.
- 6:44Speaker 1: My husband just asked me this, though, over dinner last night,
- 6:46Speaker 1: what I wanted for my birthday, because my birthday's next week.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Did you tell him 13 years later that you wanted
- 6:52Speaker 3: to take Emily?
- 6:55Speaker 2: Who's in the wrong? I haven't done anything wrong.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Did I explain it wrong?
- 6:59Speaker 4: Okay, explain to me exactly what I did wrong.
- 7:02Speaker 3: A woman bought her husband an expensive gift for his birthday.
- 7:04Speaker 3: He thanked her, but admitted it wasn't something he really wanted,
- 7:07Speaker 3: and now she's upset and said he should appreciate the
- 7:11Speaker 3: thought instead of complaining.
- 7:13Speaker 1: In theory, yes, that is probably the right answer. But
- 7:17Speaker 1: what do you think?
- 7:17Speaker 2: 317-663-9797.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Well, spouses are.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Like kids.
- 7:25Speaker 3: You just accept everything with a big smile like it's
- 7:28Speaker 3: the only thing you ever wanted. Annie, what do you think?
- 7:32Speaker 2: I did not take that route.
- 7:33Speaker 4: I mean, it's not just like thinking of the kid,
- 7:38Speaker 4: a kid gets you.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Something, you know, or Might not really want it, but
- 7:42Speaker 1: you get a smile on your face.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Thank you so much.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I know. But at the same time, are you kind
- 7:48Speaker 1: of lying if you're just like pretending that you like something?
- 7:51Speaker 2: And then every year, am I going to get that
- 7:52Speaker 2: same gift?
- 7:53Speaker 3: You're going to get another tablet.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Well, don't you know when you get married, you're just
- 7:58Speaker 2: marrying a big kid? I mean, that's accurate.
- 8:01Speaker 3: I'm kidding. Megan on the Armory Air text line said,
- 8:04Speaker 3: my birthday is coming up as well. A happy early
- 8:06Speaker 3: birthday to you. My husband got me tickets to one
- 8:09Speaker 3: of my favorite artists for next weekend, but I don't
- 8:12Speaker 3: have anyone to go with anymore because the original person
- 8:15Speaker 3: is now traveling for business. So I'm not sure what
- 8:18Speaker 3: I should do with these tickets anymore. Do I sell them?
- 8:20Speaker 3: Will that hurt his feelings? Because I can't go alone, obviously.
- 8:25Speaker 3: And my argument would be you can totally go alone.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I love going to events by myself.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Yeah, me too.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Nobody tells you when you should do anything.
- 8:36Speaker 1: You just get to vibe out the entire time by yourself.
- 8:41Speaker 2: What is the event, though?
- 8:42Speaker 1: Because I know I'm asking personally, what concert are you
- 8:46Speaker 1: going to?
- 8:46Speaker 2: Because I don't have any real plans. So we'll see.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Really want to know annie and cole want to know
- 8:54Speaker 4: i've got a list for you the most overrated tourist
- 8:58Speaker 4: spots in the u.s okay i want to see if
- 9:01Speaker 4: you also think they.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Are overrated number one on the list the las vegas.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Strip i'm not a gambler so vegas meant nothing to
- 9:11Speaker 1: me I was there.
- 9:13Speaker 3: At 21, maybe 22 years old. So I was like,
- 9:17Speaker 3: this is awesome.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Coolest place ever. What's the other one that's not the Strip,
- 9:23Speaker 2: but it's like... Yeah.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Fremont, I've heard, is just as cool and half the price.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Listen, you'll see some weird stuff, too, on Fremont Street.
- 9:32Speaker 3: I think you'll see some weird stuff on the Strip
- 9:34Speaker 3: as well.
- 9:35Speaker 2: In Vegas, yeah.
- 9:35Speaker 3: So either way, you're probably going to see some weird stuff.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Same thing with number two, though, Times Square.
- 9:42Speaker 1: First time seeing Times Square. I feel like it is magical.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Every time after that, I was like, there's too many
- 9:48Speaker 1: people here.
- 9:49Speaker 4: I loved the.
- 9:49Speaker 3: First time being in Times Square. I was just in
- 9:52Speaker 3: Times Square a couple of months ago and I still
- 9:56Speaker 3: thought it was pretty cool. So I really I'm over
- 9:59Speaker 3: to here on the overrated spots. I admit a number three, though.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Mount Rushmore.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Put that number one on the list.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Oh, I don't know if this I don't want to
- 10:07Speaker 1: get called an American here. But you drive forever to
- 10:13Speaker 1: get to Mount Rushmore and then you get there. It's
- 10:16Speaker 1: literally heads on a rock, and you're not even close
- 10:20Speaker 1: to it.
- 10:20Speaker 2: You're still pretty far away from it.
- 10:22Speaker 3: I was going to say, everybody who I've talked to
- 10:24Speaker 3: who's been, their pictures, it looks like they're pretty far away.
- 10:27Speaker 2: There's a trail you can take.
- 10:29Speaker 1: I don't know if that gets you any better view
- 10:31Speaker 1: of Mount Rushmore.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Just look at it online.
- 10:35Speaker 3: Number four is the Four Corners Monument at the intersection
- 10:38Speaker 3: of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah.
- 10:41Speaker 1: I don't think I've been to that one, but I
- 10:42Speaker 1: can't imagine just looking at.
- 10:43Speaker 3: The ground, right? The little note says, unless you like
- 10:45Speaker 3: looking at cement. Okay. Number five, I haven't been to either.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Bourbon Street.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Depends on how.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Old you are. Number six is the southernmost point in
- 10:56Speaker 3: the continental U.S. That is a statue at the very
- 10:59Speaker 3: end of Key West, Florida.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Key West.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Cool.
- 11:02Speaker 2: The statue. It's like, oh, it's a buoy statue.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Number seven. The last one I got for you. We've
- 11:08Speaker 3: both been to which is Salem, Massachusetts.
- 11:11Speaker 2: I thought Salem was cool. I wouldn't make it like
- 11:13Speaker 2: your whole trip.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Like if you combine it with like other things. Yes,
- 11:18Speaker 1: but you went during crazy time.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Do not go during October. I would say if you
- 11:24Speaker 3: have never been and you want to add it to
- 11:25Speaker 3: your road trip in the Northeast, they're like, yeah, stop in,
- 11:28Speaker 3: take a tour. Like the tour was cool where they
- 11:31Speaker 3: give you all the history, but not in October.
- 11:35Speaker 2: It was crazy. It's too small to have that many
- 11:39Speaker 2: people in it.
- 11:39Speaker 3: There's nowhere to park. All of the parking ends up
- 11:42Speaker 3: costing like $ 100. You can't get into any of the
- 11:44Speaker 3: restaurants because there are so many people. So you just
- 11:47Speaker 3: end up getting what was actually a pretty good hot
- 11:49Speaker 3: dog from a hot dog stand. But go, do not
- 11:54Speaker 3: go in October, whatever you do.
- 11:56Speaker 1: So where have you been that you thought was kind
- 11:59Speaker 1: of overrated? We're looking for your most overrated spots you've
- 12:08Speaker 1: been to on vacation.
- 12:09Speaker 3: A couple that were on our list, the Las Vegas Strip,
- 12:12Speaker 3: Mount Rushmore and Salem, Massachusetts.
- 12:14Speaker 2: OK, so I don't know if this one's going to
- 12:17Speaker 2: get some hate, too. I went mine on the list.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Minus Mount Rushmore, which I would put that number one
- 12:23Speaker 1: on the list of places I've been that were highly overrated.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Niagara Falls.
- 12:30Speaker 1: I've never been now i didn't take like a boat
- 12:33Speaker 1: ride into the falls like i think maybe that might
- 12:35Speaker 1: have spiced it up a little bit but we went
- 12:37Speaker 1: labor day weekend and it was so crowded i'm short
- 12:41Speaker 1: i couldn't see half the falls and the rest of
- 12:44Speaker 1: the town is kind of just like a tourist trap
- 12:46Speaker 1: yeah of like different like i'm sure if maybe you
- 12:51Speaker 1: were there with a family it reminded me a lot
- 12:53Speaker 1: of like if you go to like myrtle beach all
- 12:55Speaker 1: those like little like golf.
- 12:57Speaker 2: And like All that sort of stuff.
- 12:59Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 12:59Speaker 2: I just thought that Niagara Falls was very overrated.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Have you been to the Grand Canyon?
- 13:03Speaker 2: I have.
- 13:04Speaker 3: What did you think of the Grand Canyon? I've never been.
- 13:06Speaker 3: They just seem like kind of similar spots to me.
- 13:09Speaker 3: One has water. One, I guess, has water way down there.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Grand Canyon amazed me just how big it was.
- 13:14Speaker 1: And right now they're going through some pretty big disasters
- 13:17Speaker 1: right now out there.
- 13:18Speaker 2: So just keep them in your thoughts. Annie and Cole.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Be a part of the show.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Text or give us a call. 317.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Where would you say is the most overrated spot you've
- 13:30Speaker 1: been on vacation?
- 13:31Speaker 3: We've talked about Mount Rushmore, who I've heard a lot
- 13:33Speaker 3: of people have different opinions on Mount Rushmore. This one
- 13:37Speaker 3: on the Army Air text line says, Going on a
- 13:39Speaker 3: motorcycle is beautiful. Watching the lighting at night is even
- 13:42Speaker 3: more provoking. Yes, the drive is long, but it's still beautiful.
- 13:47Speaker 3: And then they said, Agree with the Las Vegas Strip.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Fremont Street is a lot nicer. And then also Nashville. Nashville.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Little overrated.
- 13:55Speaker 3: Little overrated. Too many bars, too many people. It's becoming
- 13:58Speaker 3: a mini Las Vegas.
- 14:00Speaker 1: I just want to point out, I'm not saying that
- 14:02Speaker 1: the trip to Mount Rushmore was disappointing because South Dakota
- 14:06Speaker 1: is beautiful.
- 14:07Speaker 2: I'm just saying Mount Rushmore is a bore.
- 14:09Speaker 3: I think there are people who will agree with this
- 14:12Speaker 3: one as well on the Army Air text line, too.
- 14:14Speaker 3: It says, my husband would say Disney World is way
- 14:16Speaker 3: too overrated and definitely not the happiest place on Earth.
- 14:20Speaker 2: I follow.
- 14:21Speaker 4: I like.
- 14:21Speaker 2: I share.
- 14:22Speaker 4: Annie and Cole on Hank FM.
- 14:26Speaker 3: How often are you guilty of this? Because I know
- 14:28Speaker 3: that I am. That you are walking across the street
- 14:34Speaker 3: and you're on your phone. Not paying any attention to
- 14:37Speaker 3: what is going on around you. Because Italy is considering
- 14:40Speaker 3: outlawing texting in crosswalks. And what do you think? Do
- 14:48Speaker 3: you think that you probably shouldn't be on your phone
- 14:50Speaker 3: if you're crossing the road, right?
- 14:52Speaker 1: No. And it is so frustrating, especially if you're driving
- 14:57Speaker 1: like downtown Indianapolis, the amount of people that are not
- 15:01Speaker 1: paying attention to anything that is going on around them
- 15:04Speaker 1: is insane to me.
- 15:07Speaker 3: I notice it when I'm running and I'm trying to
- 15:11Speaker 3: run around people because they're not paying any attention because
- 15:13Speaker 3: they're on their phone. And then whenever I'm done, Guess what?
- 15:16Speaker 3: I'm one of those people on my phone.
- 15:19Speaker 2: I am.
- 15:20Speaker 3: I should be better about it.
- 15:22Speaker 1: It's so hard, though, because we're all expected and we
- 15:24Speaker 1: all have this thing that we think that we need
- 15:26Speaker 1: to be available at all times. So a lot of
- 15:28Speaker 1: times I'm trying to like walk into work while also
- 15:31Speaker 1: finishing up like editing something that is on my phone.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, you know, if I could walk while
- 15:35Speaker 1: doing this, I'll get something done faster. but I don't
- 15:39Speaker 1: know if I'm getting anything done faster because most of
- 15:41Speaker 1: the time I am like bumping into someone or doing
- 15:44Speaker 1: something dumb.
- 15:45Speaker 4: Annie and Cole weekday morning, six to 10 on 97
- 15:48Speaker 4: one Hank FM.
