- 0:00Speaker 1: Back with Jim Moore as the Huskies try to go
- 0:02Speaker 1: three and two. They play Buffalo the Bulls twelve noon
- 0:06Speaker 1: on Saturday at the Rent fishing up our discussion of
- 0:09Speaker 1: Nick Evers coach. He's run thirty four times one hundred
- 0:13Speaker 1: and seventy two yards, completed thirty of sixty for almost
- 0:16Speaker 1: three hundred. Couple touchdowns on the ground, a couple in
- 0:19Speaker 1: the ear. As you look at him week to week,
- 0:23Speaker 1: do you see things developing or is it just something
- 0:26Speaker 1: that is going to happen naturally organically with a guy
- 0:29Speaker 1: like him.
- 0:31Speaker 2: No, I see it happening, Mike. I see him getting
- 0:34Speaker 2: better every day in practice. I see a level of
- 0:36Speaker 2: his level of confidence go up. And it's because the
- 0:39Speaker 2: kid is ultra competitive. This is very important to him
- 0:43Speaker 2: and he works at it. He spends an inordering amount
- 0:46Speaker 2: of time at the facility with Gordy, coach Samus and
- 0:50Speaker 2: coach Robbins at the passing game coordinator, quarterback coach. He's
- 0:55Speaker 2: always watching film. He practices with great focus every day.
- 1:00Speaker 2: We knew that he was talented. I mean you could
- 1:02Speaker 2: it was obvious, you know, watching his high school film
- 1:04Speaker 2: and then some of his practice film from Wisconsin shoot.
- 1:09Speaker 2: I tried to recruit the kid out of high school.
- 1:11Speaker 2: You know, I remember that. So it's fun to see
- 1:14Speaker 2: him finally get an opportunity, and it's fun to see
- 1:18Speaker 2: how serious he's taken it, how important it is to him.
- 1:21Speaker 2: And you're starting to see him accept a little bit
- 1:25Speaker 2: more of a leadership role as well. And you know,
- 1:29Speaker 2: you want your quarterback to play well and be recognized
- 1:32Speaker 2: as a leader. And I think that's happening organically. You know,
- 1:35Speaker 2: he's not pushing it, He's just he's letting his work
- 1:38Speaker 2: do the talk.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Yeah, he seems like a humble kid, and we're gonna
- 1:43Speaker 1: talk to him in a few minutes. You're wide outs.
- 1:45Speaker 1: A couple of quick things there. Bell, Now Skyler's got
- 1:48Speaker 1: fifteen catches averaging twenty three at catch. I mean, that's
- 1:51Speaker 1: amazing to be at TJ. Sheffield eleven catches for him
- 1:55Speaker 1: seven and a half yards a catch. So you got
- 1:57Speaker 1: two veteran guys who are getting open number Bell and Sheffield,
- 2:02Speaker 1: and then Shamar Porter. I'm sure this is a joke actually,
- 2:05Speaker 1: but is he come to your office and say, coach,
- 2:08Speaker 1: I got three catches, two of them are for touchdowns.
- 2:12Speaker 2: No, but I've noticed it. He doesn't have to tell me.
- 2:14Speaker 2: You know, he's the guy that I think is going
- 2:17Speaker 2: to be a tremendous player here, and we got to
- 2:20Speaker 2: get him the ball more. He But you know, it's
- 2:25Speaker 2: tough because you've got Skyler who's set your darn good player,
- 2:29Speaker 2: and TJ wh's set a darn good player, both veterans.
- 2:31Speaker 2: You got Azarayah who's a darn good player who's a veteran.
- 2:34Speaker 2: You've got you know, Brett Buckman, who's a darn good
- 2:37Speaker 2: player as a veteran. You know, you got Josiah Gay
- 2:42Speaker 2: Things he's a darn good player as a veteran. So
- 2:44Speaker 2: it's hard to get them all in there, you know.
- 2:45Speaker 2: But I'll tell you Brock Montgomery and Chamar Porter two
- 2:49Speaker 2: young guys that are very, very impressive, and you know,
- 2:54Speaker 2: want to make sure that we continue to work him
- 2:56Speaker 2: into our offense, which we're doing. I mean, they're both
- 2:58Speaker 2: playing a lot. It's just they're not necessarily getting the
- 3:02Speaker 2: throws to them yet. But that'll come. That'll come, and
- 3:05Speaker 2: it's fun to see.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Oh yeah, And believe me, there's eight games left. A
- 3:09Speaker 1: lot of things are gonna happen in these next eight
- 3:11Speaker 1: games for the Huskies. So far, so good, even at
- 3:14Speaker 1: two and two. Coach, appreciate you. Three and two would
- 3:17Speaker 1: sound nice about four o'clock on the afternoon on Saturday.
- 3:21Speaker 2: I'll take it.
- 3:23Speaker 1: All right. That's Jim Moore. Stay with us. The player
- 3:26Speaker 1: interviews are coming up. Nick Evers and Chris Freeman here
- 3:29Speaker 1: on the Yukon Football Coaches Show on liar Field.
