- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush The Truth about Sorority Life with
- 0:04Speaker 1: your hosts me Gia Judice.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Kessler.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Hello everyone, and welcome back to another episode of Dirty Rush. Today,
- 0:16Speaker 3: we have some of our Dirty Rush producers on to
- 0:19Speaker 3: answer questions from a fraternity member currently in college himself.
- 0:24Speaker 3: We have collected all the questions that fraternity men are
- 0:26Speaker 3: dying to know about girls and sorority life, and we're
- 0:29Speaker 3: going to be unpacking it all today. Our fraternity host
- 0:33Speaker 3: is Dylan. Welcome Dylan.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Hi, Thank you.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Dylan. Do you want to tell everyone a little bit
- 0:38Speaker 3: about yourself?
- 0:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I am from California. I went to San die
- 0:43Speaker 4: Yo State my first year and I transwered to Santa Clara.
- 0:46Speaker 4: I'm going to be a senior next year and I
- 0:47Speaker 4: am in a fraternity at Santa Clara. What I love
- 0:51Speaker 4: about my fraternity is we're very focused around mental health
- 0:54Speaker 4: and we have a lot of good philanthropy around it. Yeah,
- 0:58Speaker 4: it's probably my favorite part about it.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Awesome. And then Dylan is going to ask us some
- 1:04Speaker 3: questions that all the fraternity men are dying to know.
- 1:07Speaker 3: We're going to go around and all of our producers
- 1:10Speaker 3: that are on today are going to say their name
- 1:12Speaker 3: and what swarty they were in, and let's do what
- 1:15Speaker 3: state our school was in as well. So my name
- 1:18Speaker 3: is Shelby and I was a Zeta and I went
- 1:20Speaker 3: to school in Texas.
- 1:22Speaker 5: My name's Kendall. I was a gammified Beta and I
- 1:25Speaker 5: went to University of Arizona.
- 1:27Speaker 1: My name's Ebbie and I was a Theta and I
- 1:30Speaker 1: went to a school in LA.
- 1:32Speaker 6: My name's Reese, and I was in California.
- 1:38Speaker 7: My dad's Fantastasia, and I'm a kappa at UC Berkeley.
- 1:42Speaker 8: My name is Sabina and I was a d G
- 1:45Speaker 8: also at UC Berkeley.
- 1:46Speaker 2: We are we all at different houses?
- 1:48Speaker 1: Woo, yeah, got some representation.
- 1:52Speaker 5: Okay, I have a question before we get into Dylan
- 1:55Speaker 5: asking questions. Can all of us say, Dylan, your favorite
- 1:59Speaker 5: so at your school and for us girls, our favorite
- 2:03Speaker 5: fraternity at our schools O.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Mine was stay Makay, mine was SIGAP.
- 2:09Speaker 7: I think ours is either ZA or SA.
- 2:12Speaker 8: I'd have to disagree, not like SA.
- 2:16Speaker 7: I'd probably say kay, okay, yeah that makes sense.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Yeah, mine was sick up.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Woo.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Mine is probably ALP with FI classic.
- 2:25Speaker 5: All right, Dylan, what do you have for us what questions.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Okay, starting off, do sorority girls actually like doing the
- 2:32Speaker 4: chance at the door during recruitment or do they think
- 2:34Speaker 4: it's annoying.
- 2:37Speaker 3: I would say, we don't do the full door chance.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Ours was like once you walk in, so I never
- 2:43Speaker 3: got to do like the ones. I know, like at
- 2:44Speaker 3: other schools they like stack up and do chance like
- 2:47Speaker 3: right at the door. We never did that. I liked it.
- 2:50Speaker 3: I was like in charge of like the choreography and
- 2:53Speaker 3: like teaching everyone for a couple of years, which is
- 2:56Speaker 3: like very fitting for me if you knew me. But
- 3:00Speaker 3: so I would say I liked it, but most people
- 3:01Speaker 3: hated it. So I would say the answer is no,
- 3:04Speaker 3: even though I liked.
- 3:05Speaker 6: It, I kind of agree with Shelby I had. I
- 3:09Speaker 6: thought it was funny because we only did one and
- 3:11Speaker 6: we would like run to the front door, and I
- 3:14Speaker 6: was put in the front because I have like really
- 3:16Speaker 6: long hair and you had to like whip our necks
- 3:18Speaker 6: back and forth, and so I got like whiplash kind of.
- 3:21Speaker 6: But I thought we only did it like one time
- 3:23Speaker 6: at the end as sort of like a joke to
- 3:27Speaker 6: ease tensions or whatever. So I kind of thought it was.
- 3:29Speaker 5: Funny Dylan as a guy, Like when you see videos
- 3:32Speaker 5: on TikTok or Instagram, what are your thoughts when you
- 3:35Speaker 5: see girls chanting at the door.
- 3:38Speaker 4: I think they're cool. I think they're funny, like some
- 3:39Speaker 4: of the ones I would always look for, like my friends,
- 3:42Speaker 4: like at my school for the if like my school
- 3:45Speaker 4: sorties came up on the for you page, but don't
- 3:48Speaker 4: find it weird, I mean, for turnings have weird stuff
- 3:52Speaker 4: too that you guys probably wouldn't understand. So I guess
- 3:54Speaker 4: it goes both ways.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Well, now you have to tell us one.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Hm, we can get into that later.
- 4:02Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Okay, Well we'll get into it, okay.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Another question, how do surdy girls decide who do you
- 4:10Speaker 4: want to bring to formals? Other like certain aspects of
- 4:13Speaker 4: a guy or what they look like that you guys
- 4:16Speaker 4: look for.
- 4:17Speaker 7: I think when it comes to like who you're bringing,
- 4:19Speaker 7: I think, at least for my group, if all of
- 4:22Speaker 7: my friends are bringing guys, and it's kind of like
- 4:25Speaker 7: a group thing of like, oh, I'm bringing a date,
- 4:27Speaker 7: like it makes you feel better to bring one, I
- 4:30Speaker 7: would say, unless you're like actually like feel steady and
- 4:35Speaker 7: like like you guys have been talking for a while
- 4:38Speaker 7: and like it's maybe an exclusive thing or like you
- 4:41Speaker 7: guys have like our dating Like then it's like, yes,
- 4:44Speaker 7: I'll bring a guy. But if like you're the only
- 4:47Speaker 7: girl in your group bringing a guy, that's just that's
- 4:50Speaker 7: not fun for anyone. And so if it's like collectively
- 4:53Speaker 7: like hey, like let's all bring dates, then it's like, Okay,
- 4:56Speaker 7: I'll find a date. And they maybe you can ask
- 4:58Speaker 7: in like a friendly way, or you can ask in
- 5:01Speaker 7: like hey, like me and all my friends are bringing dates,
- 5:03Speaker 7: like come it'll be fun because then like you get it,
- 5:05Speaker 7: come along. But like it's so awkward when you guys
- 5:08Speaker 7: are all on that party bus and like you're the
- 5:11Speaker 7: only guy and like you're kind of an outsider, and
- 5:13Speaker 7: it's just like all these girls like torking on the
- 5:15Speaker 7: stripper poles and like you guys are going to the
- 5:17Speaker 7: venue and everything. It's like you're trying to entertain your date.
- 5:19Speaker 7: But then at the same time, like you want to
- 5:21Speaker 7: be with your friends. So like collectively, like if a
- 5:24Speaker 7: lot of guys are coming, then bring a guy.
- 5:26Speaker 8: My sorty love to do my ties. I don't know
- 5:30Speaker 8: if that's a thing at everyone's school, but it would
- 5:32Speaker 8: be like your friends would pair you up with this
- 5:35Speaker 8: like a basically blind date. So it usually happens like
- 5:38Speaker 8: we had two invites or date parties a semester, and
- 5:41Speaker 8: for one of them, it seemed like different friend groups
- 5:44Speaker 8: would always do my ties. And if that were the case,
- 5:48Speaker 8: then people would usually try and find like a group
- 5:50Speaker 8: of guys to go with a group of girls and
- 5:52Speaker 8: kind of just like pair everyone up or yeah, I
- 5:56Speaker 8: would agree, like a lot of the times it kind
- 5:58Speaker 8: of was just a little bit awkward if you were
- 6:00Speaker 8: going with like your group of girls and there was
- 6:01Speaker 8: like one guy, especially if you guys weren't like talking
- 6:04Speaker 8: or like seeing each other, and it was kind of
- 6:05Speaker 8: just like a random pairing. So it's usually planned, like
- 6:09Speaker 8: everybody would bring a date, or like kind of nobody
- 6:12Speaker 8: would bring a date.
- 6:13Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Also, Dylan asked, like, what do you look for in
- 6:17Speaker 1: a guy when you're deciding, Like, I think one thing
- 6:22Speaker 1: that goes unnoticed is a lot of times, or at
- 6:25Speaker 1: least in my storty, there would be just a few
- 6:28Speaker 1: date parties in a row where like someone's date would
- 6:32Speaker 1: get too unhinged and maybe throw up on the party
- 6:34Speaker 1: bus or like say something out of pocket. And I
- 6:38Speaker 1: feel like girls started to go with like safer calls
- 6:41Speaker 1: when it came to guys like who were more well
- 6:44Speaker 1: behaved and who just weren't going to just be like
- 6:48Speaker 1: a wild card.
- 6:50Speaker 2: I don't know if you guys had that, No, I
- 6:51Speaker 2: had that.
- 6:52Speaker 5: I had a date freshman year gets so drunk that
- 6:54Speaker 5: he headbutted another guy at my Oh, Dylan, Why do
- 6:59Speaker 5: guys feel they need to get drunk? Is it that
- 7:01Speaker 5: boring or something when they come on these sorority parties.
- 7:05Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 7:06Speaker 2: I like, do you have fun on them? Or are
- 7:09Speaker 2: they boring?
- 7:09Speaker 4: I love them, They're great. I think it's a different
- 7:12Speaker 4: kind of It's a different like social thing because usually
- 7:16Speaker 4: guys are used to being like at a fratorney where
- 7:18Speaker 4: it's only like their guys friends. I think it's fun
- 7:20Speaker 4: sometimes to hang out like other dudes that you don't
- 7:24Speaker 4: get to talk to as much because girls are bringing
- 7:26Speaker 4: like guys from random for frattorneys And do you.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Guys you have weekenders?
- 7:30Speaker 8: Uh?
- 7:31Speaker 4: Like we call it like a way formal. It's like
- 7:33Speaker 4: once a year or twice a year.
- 7:36Speaker 6: I have a theory about sometimes why they get too drunk.
- 7:40Speaker 6: I brought a date that he kind of like invited himself.
- 7:43Speaker 6: My friend was bringing his friend, and then the friend
- 7:46Speaker 6: was like, can you bring my friend? And I was
- 7:48Speaker 6: like sure, and he said he got too excited, so.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I'm like nervous.
- 7:53Speaker 6: So he was pregaming like way too much so that
- 7:56Speaker 6: he could like build up the courage to like be there,
- 7:59Speaker 6: and then he just got carried away and it wasn't
- 8:02Speaker 6: for anyone.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Dylan, I have a question for you. Do you have
- 8:06Speaker 3: like more fun at a formal like that you got
- 8:08Speaker 3: invited to by a girl if like you have a
- 8:10Speaker 3: guy friend there, because I feel like a lot of
- 8:12Speaker 3: the times, like my friends try to bring like guys
- 8:14Speaker 3: that know each other because then they like are less
- 8:16Speaker 3: like they seem like they're having more fun when they
- 8:18Speaker 3: have like a buddy there instead of just like by themselves.
- 8:20Speaker 4: Like yeah, one hundred, I think girls sometimes like to
- 8:24Speaker 4: be like whispering in the corner or like doing like
- 8:26Speaker 4: the and like we're just gonna be like sitting there
- 8:29Speaker 4: awkwardly if we don't know each other. So yeah, definitely,
- 8:33Speaker 4: like bringing a guy that already knows someone theres is
- 8:36Speaker 4: definitely a good play.
- 8:37Speaker 2: We don't have fun asking you questions? Is it true?
- 8:40Speaker 5: That guys hate when girls like go to the bathroom
- 8:43Speaker 5: together in like a group, like they find that annoying.
- 8:46Speaker 4: No, I mean, we don't really care. I think it's
- 8:48Speaker 4: more like like I was out to dinner with some
- 8:51Speaker 4: girls two weeks ago and they were just whispering the
- 8:54Speaker 4: whole time because they were super drunk. Like at the
- 8:56Speaker 4: end of the table, We're like, guys, come on, you
- 8:58Speaker 4: gotta like like I save it for after or something,
- 9:02Speaker 4: you know, or or go to the bathroom so you
- 9:05Speaker 4: don't look like you're just like talking about everyone else.
- 9:08Speaker 2: You're probably talking about you.
- 9:26Speaker 4: If you're meeting a guy for the first time out
- 9:27Speaker 4: of attorney, what makes him more memorable is if he's
- 9:30Speaker 4: like funny, nice, good looking. What do you guys look for?
- 9:35Speaker 4: Or like what what leaves you remembering him?
- 9:38Speaker 3: I feel like this is so woring what kind of
- 9:40Speaker 3: manners Like I don't know if you like it's like
- 9:42Speaker 3: what Kenda was saying, like if you bring a guy
- 9:44Speaker 3: to a formal like you or maybe Ebby was just
- 9:46Speaker 3: saying it, but you want to like have them be
- 9:47Speaker 3: like behaved and like I don't know when they're like
- 9:50Speaker 3: going around, like if they're like a new date and
- 9:52Speaker 3: they're introducing themselves to your friends and you're swarty big
- 9:54Speaker 3: like and like you leave and then the next day
- 9:56Speaker 3: everyone's like, oh my god, your date was so awesome,
- 9:58Speaker 3: like blah blah blah blah, He's so nice, she was
- 10:00Speaker 3: so fun Like that just like feels good because like
- 10:02Speaker 3: especially like now everyone knew him then, like that's just
- 10:05Speaker 3: a better feeling. So like for me, it'd probably be
- 10:09Speaker 3: like yeah, manners and like funniness, like when they're having
- 10:12Speaker 3: a good time because like I feel like, looks you
- 10:15Speaker 3: already knew it beforehand.
- 10:16Speaker 6: So and like having your friends well when other people
- 10:20Speaker 6: have good things to say about them kind of like
- 10:22Speaker 6: all of that. If you're talking to other people and
- 10:24Speaker 6: you're like what do you think about this guy? And
- 10:25Speaker 6: it's all great reviews and that's definitely something good. But
- 10:29Speaker 6: if it's sort of like oh, why are you asking,
- 10:32Speaker 6: and then they'll have to like say or like save
- 10:35Speaker 6: what their actual opinion is, then you know like probably
- 10:38Speaker 6: shouldn't go any further.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Also, a lot of times there's alcohol involved in these events,
- 10:43Speaker 1: so you might not have the best memory, so you
- 10:45Speaker 1: need like the good pr all around. Yes, like you're like, oh,
- 10:49Speaker 1: how was he actually like, oh he was really nice.
- 10:52Speaker 1: You remember, like, oh, oh good, I'm glad.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I thought it was nice too.
- 10:58Speaker 5: I have a question for all of us to shake
- 11:00Speaker 5: things up before Dylan's next question. Everyone answer like an
- 11:04Speaker 5: ick they have from like you know, talking to a
- 11:08Speaker 5: fraternity guy or sporty girl at school. Like for me,
- 11:11Speaker 5: mine would be like, I know guys can't help it,
- 11:14Speaker 5: but sometimes out of fraternity when they're like so sweaty,
- 11:19Speaker 5: and that gives me the eck, Especially when they try
- 11:21Speaker 5: to like hey, like hug you and stuff, I'm like,
- 11:23Speaker 5: oh God, like I'm that sweaty courtyard Like that gives.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Me the eck. What about you?
- 11:27Speaker 9: Guys?
- 11:28Speaker 7: Mine might be super random, but I absolutely hate guys
- 11:31Speaker 7: that have like an obscene like zen addiction. Like for me,
- 11:36Speaker 7: just like when they always have it up and I
- 11:39Speaker 7: just know that they're either like spitting into a cup
- 11:42Speaker 7: or like it's just so gross to me and like
- 11:45Speaker 7: ninety nine percent of the time, like you can only
- 11:47Speaker 7: have it in for like forty five minutes before they
- 11:48Speaker 7: have to switch it out and put a new one.
- 11:50Speaker 7: It's like, dude, like just drink or like I don't know,
- 11:53Speaker 7: like zen addictions to me are just like, oh, that's
- 11:56Speaker 7: so like cool within guys and it's just the worst.
- 12:00Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 12:01Speaker 9: Also kind of like going off that if they're like
- 12:03Speaker 9: spitting at a party, because they people like spit when
- 12:06Speaker 9: they're sitting and it's just like you'll be talking to
- 12:08Speaker 9: them and then they'll just randomly spit and you're like,
- 12:09Speaker 9: oh wait, like what you ew?
- 12:13Speaker 3: Gross? I would say this is so bad. But like
- 12:17Speaker 3: if I bring a guy to my formal, like I
- 12:19Speaker 3: want him to buy me a drink, like and like
- 12:21Speaker 3: sometimes they're like oh like whatever, Like if I'm taking
- 12:25Speaker 3: you to my formal, like I feel like you need
- 12:26Speaker 3: to buy me a drink. So I guess when they
- 12:29Speaker 3: don't do that.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I would also say like if you're just if
- 12:34Speaker 1: you're a guy and you're hanging out too much with
- 12:36Speaker 1: your friends, like you're just there to be with the voice,
- 12:40Speaker 1: like why are you even there? If a girl brought
- 12:43Speaker 1: you to their formal, they probably they like you and
- 12:44Speaker 1: they want to spend time with you. So yeah, I
- 12:50Speaker 1: would just think like there's sometimes when guys would act
- 12:52Speaker 1: like especially freshen Ye would act like way too cool
- 12:55Speaker 1: for school, and it's like okay, if somebody brought you
- 12:58Speaker 1: spend time with them, diama, drink like, dance with them
- 13:02Speaker 1: a little. It's not that hard.
- 13:05Speaker 6: Mine's like the same as pals, like if they have
- 13:08Speaker 6: bad body odor. Like sometimes I'll have like a guy's
- 13:11Speaker 6: side hug me and then it'll linger on my warm
- 13:15Speaker 6: and then I'm just like like having to lean away
- 13:18Speaker 6: from myself or figure out. It's just figure it out, please,
- 13:22Speaker 6: Like I don't want your bodyoder like lingering on me
- 13:26Speaker 6: the most.
- 13:29Speaker 8: Mine's not specific to like a formal but I feel
- 13:31Speaker 8: like I've had a couple of situations where I've like
- 13:33Speaker 8: watched the way guys interact with Like for example, this
- 13:36Speaker 8: was on like a game day and this guy was
- 13:38Speaker 8: the door at his frat, and I like watched the
- 13:40Speaker 8: way he interacted with like strangers or people trying to
- 13:43Speaker 8: come into the frat, and he just gave like a
- 13:44Speaker 8: really like negative kind of like cocky douchebag energy and
- 13:48Speaker 8: like was just rude to people who were trying to
- 13:50Speaker 8: come in for like a game day. And I feel
- 13:52Speaker 8: like the way that these frat guys carry themselves in
- 13:55Speaker 8: situations with people that aren't their brothers is like a
- 13:58Speaker 8: huge indicator of like the type of guy that they
- 13:59Speaker 8: all and if you can tell that they like don't
- 14:02Speaker 8: care about anybody other than like the people within their
- 14:05Speaker 8: frat or like the swordy girls that are like pretty
- 14:08Speaker 8: or whatever. Like, it just really rubs me the wrong way.
- 14:10Speaker 2: It's a good one, Dylan. Besides the whispering, what dick
- 14:13Speaker 2: do you have?
- 14:14Speaker 4: I guess just the girl that kind of knows every
- 14:16Speaker 4: guy at the frag It kind of is like the
- 14:17Speaker 4: social like a little too social. I don't know. It
- 14:20Speaker 4: just rubs me the wrong way.
- 14:21Speaker 2: I feel like, especially if you like her.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Uh well, well that makes it way worse. Yeah, I'd
- 14:29Speaker 4: probably try to stay away.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Yeah I get that, all right, Let's go to the
- 14:33Speaker 2: next one.
- 14:34Speaker 4: Oh again, what makes the shack shirt cool? Like, do
- 14:41Speaker 4: girls when they go over to guy's place want to
- 14:43Speaker 4: get one to like show like go back to their
- 14:47Speaker 4: friend's house and like be asked about it or like
- 14:50Speaker 4: why is it cool?
- 14:51Speaker 5: I wouldn't necessarily say like summer cool over the other,
- 14:54Speaker 5: but obviously people in school would be like, yeah, I
- 14:57Speaker 5: got this shackture, I got that secture. You didn't get that,
- 15:00Speaker 5: Like people were really immature like that. But as a girl,
- 15:04Speaker 5: it was like I personally loved a shack shirt because
- 15:08Speaker 5: you don't want to go home the next day in
- 15:10Speaker 5: your body suit, like you want to at least have
- 15:13Speaker 5: a shirt.
- 15:13Speaker 2: On, don't you guys all agree?
- 15:15Speaker 5: Yeah, over you're going out outfit because then it's a
- 15:17Speaker 5: little less like.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Hunter bonus points for like a cool sweatshirt bonus points.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Yeah. And I think it also a little bit like
- 15:30Speaker 1: collecting different t shirts that are like oversized and like
- 15:35Speaker 1: too big for you just shows oh, like you get
- 15:37Speaker 1: questions about it going back to the swarthy house like
- 15:40Speaker 1: where were you last night? Like where'd you get that?
- 15:42Speaker 1: Then you can kind of have to You can either
- 15:44Speaker 1: play it cool and be like, oh, you don't get
- 15:47Speaker 1: to know.
- 15:48Speaker 5: Well, do guys keep tabs if they don't get their
- 15:50Speaker 5: stuff back, like if they think girls will return it.
- 15:54Speaker 4: Guys definitely keep tabs, But it's sometimes it's not important
- 15:57Speaker 4: enough to like text them if they don't talk to
- 15:59Speaker 4: them anymore.
- 16:00Speaker 5: I feel like that'd be weird if a guy's like, hey,
- 16:01Speaker 5: I need my like Sigma Kuye volleyball shirt.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Back, can you come over?
- 16:06Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 16:06Speaker 4: No, they definitely do keep tubs. How are fraterneys ranked?
- 16:25Speaker 4: How do you guys create the rankings. Do you talk
- 16:27Speaker 4: about it?
- 16:29Speaker 3: I feel like at my school it was like every
- 16:31Speaker 3: soorty had a different ranking, and like even every person
- 16:34Speaker 3: in Authorty like my sworty, Like every like PC had
- 16:37Speaker 3: a different top frat, which was interesting. I feel like
- 16:39Speaker 3: at some other schools I hear there's like kind of
- 16:41Speaker 3: like sister fraternities and sworties or maybe there's another word
- 16:45Speaker 3: for it. But at my school was like my PC
- 16:50Speaker 3: like loved certain fraternities and like the one below us
- 16:53Speaker 3: like because their guy PC was like better in the
- 16:56Speaker 3: year below, like different ones. I feel like it's in
- 16:58Speaker 3: terms of like party are big, like if they have
- 17:02Speaker 3: the best parties. I mean when you're like looking for
- 17:05Speaker 3: like where to go, there's usually a lot of options,
- 17:07Speaker 3: so like your favorite fraternity, it's like where you're going
- 17:10Speaker 3: to go to the party or the tailgate, And then
- 17:13Speaker 3: I feel like just like yeah, I mean the guys
- 17:14Speaker 3: like being like fun and like cool people, and like
- 17:17Speaker 3: for me, like a lot of the guys in the
- 17:19Speaker 3: fraternity I went the most were like from my area,
- 17:21Speaker 3: so I like knew a lot of them and then
- 17:22Speaker 3: got to know their friends, so it was like very
- 17:24Speaker 3: comfortable for me and like I just got very close
- 17:26Speaker 3: with them all, so I feel like that would be
- 17:28Speaker 3: for me.
- 17:30Speaker 2: I also feel like the reputations are already like there
- 17:32Speaker 2: when you go into school, so it's like it's hard,
- 17:35Speaker 2: don't you guys feel that way, Like you don't even
- 17:36Speaker 2: make it up yourself.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I would say like the top tier and the
- 17:41Speaker 1: mid tier. I mean, it's like feel so annoying to
- 17:44Speaker 1: even talk about tiers right now, but like I feel
- 17:48Speaker 1: like those are established, but you can certainly move between
- 17:52Speaker 1: depending on like what's the new PC and who's driving
- 17:55Speaker 1: with who. I remember my freshman year essaying you was
- 17:58Speaker 1: definitely like on top at the beginning because they threw
- 18:02Speaker 1: this huge party it called Splash and it was like
- 18:04Speaker 1: the first week of school and they'd run out this
- 18:06Speaker 1: place in Malibu and and bite all these girls and
- 18:09Speaker 1: like they were so up. But then Sigma Kai was
- 18:14Speaker 1: like on so pro or not even like they had
- 18:16Speaker 1: to be like the PC. It's like a tradition that
- 18:18Speaker 1: like for the first quarter, you're on sopro if you're
- 18:20Speaker 1: in Si Kai. And then they started throwing parties like
- 18:26Speaker 1: Winter Quarter that I remember that everyone was like, wait,
- 18:28Speaker 1: sig Kai's best, Like they're up and then like SIGEP
- 18:31Speaker 1: got in there, and so I think it just like
- 18:34Speaker 1: could definitely move around the ranks. Yeah, but you have
- 18:39Speaker 1: to like be fun and have good stuff to go to.
- 18:42Speaker 5: Right.
- 18:43Speaker 2: I hate the rankings so dumb. Yeah, it's really stupid.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Yeah, just like be friends with who you want to
- 18:48Speaker 1: be friends with, right, you could pick yourself.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:53Speaker 4: I remember freshman year, my guys older would make us
- 18:56Speaker 4: paint for hours because like with these neon all this stuff,
- 19:00Speaker 4: because he was like, the girls are gonna want to
- 19:03Speaker 4: take photos. That's why they come here is to take
- 19:05Speaker 4: cool photos.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Oh that's cute, that's interesting.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Yeah, we were pledged painting.
- 19:11Speaker 4: Yes, we all had to paint for for hours. Yeah.
- 19:14Speaker 2: And did girls end up taking photos? Was it worth it?
- 19:16Speaker 4: I think so? Yes they were we we we that
- 19:19Speaker 4: was like our thing was like big murals.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Wow.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Did you feel like you competed with other fraternities to
- 19:26Speaker 3: have like a better setup for the party.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Oh for sure.
- 19:29Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Yeah that's so interesting.
- 19:33Speaker 6: I like water attraction. You like what but water attraction
- 19:39Speaker 6: like a slip inside.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Or yeah, darty's Oh so fun.
- 19:43Speaker 6: If one party has a water attraction and another one
- 19:46Speaker 6: does it, I'm not going I am dying or foam.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Yeah, we had a pham.
- 19:54Speaker 2: The foam is so gross.
- 19:55Speaker 8: Like we had one frat who threw a party with
- 19:58Speaker 8: packing peanuts and it became like a safety hazard because
- 20:02Speaker 8: it's like their number one party of the year is
- 20:04Speaker 8: called frost, and they layered their entire floor with packing
- 20:08Speaker 8: peanuts and it became so sticky that like no one
- 20:11Speaker 8: could walk around and everyone's shoes were ruined. And I'm
- 20:13Speaker 8: pretty sure for that party alone, they spent like I
- 20:17Speaker 8: think it was like over ten grand just on like
- 20:19Speaker 8: decorations and like painting. They got like an ice sculpture
- 20:21Speaker 8: and there's this whole thing. But even though that fraternity
- 20:24Speaker 8: wasn't like ranked very high, that party was like the
- 20:27Speaker 8: number one party of the year, like everyone talks about it.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Saina brings up like a really good point because the
- 20:32Speaker 1: budgets that I would hear about for these parties were
- 20:35Speaker 1: like insane. Like I live next to a frat that
- 20:39Speaker 1: would throw like a sailor's ball and they would literally
- 20:43Speaker 1: flood their basement and put like sand in the basement.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Of the frat. Yes, that's crazy.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Like the damage to these places there was like foam topia.
- 20:52Speaker 1: There were all these different parties for each frat, and
- 20:54Speaker 1: I think it's like, yeah, I.
- 20:55Speaker 8: Think the budget was more to do with how much
- 20:57Speaker 8: they'd get fined and setting aside a certain amount that
- 21:00Speaker 8: they'd be willing to pay a fine, rather than actually
- 21:02Speaker 8: buying anything. So it'd be like a twenty thousand dollars
- 21:05Speaker 8: budget that had nothing to do with what they purchased
- 21:08Speaker 8: or when.
- 21:08Speaker 2: They break like art it.
- 21:10Speaker 5: Did you guys have your fraternities like we always had,
- 21:12Speaker 5: like Gorgan City or like not Rufous, but you know,
- 21:15Speaker 5: like people come and perform at them.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Yeah, Dylan, did you have that ever your fraternity?
- 21:20Speaker 4: I had like one when I was at San Diego State. Yeah.
- 21:23Speaker 2: I don't know if everyone does that.
- 21:24Speaker 4: And the budgets, the budgets are crazy for those Where
- 21:26Speaker 4: does that come from? Is that like your dol alumni?
- 21:29Speaker 4: I mean a little bit of dude. Oh, it's the
- 21:32Speaker 4: definitely matters how long the fraternity's been around, because I'm
- 21:34Speaker 4: in a fratney now that's only been around for like
- 21:37Speaker 4: fifteen years, so we don't have all those older rich guys.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Oh wow, I think sig Kai has like the best alumni.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Oh interesting.
- 21:44Speaker 4: Nationally, it's pretty I think Essay is one of the
- 21:47Speaker 4: richest ones now.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Probably Essay too, honestly, and Dylan as a guy, how
- 21:53Speaker 1: do you get invited?
- 21:54Speaker 5: Because like sometimes like other fraternity guys are at another
- 21:57Speaker 5: one's fraternity party, Like is it just if you're cool
- 22:00Speaker 5: with someone?
- 22:00Speaker 2: Like how does that work? I've always wondered.
- 22:02Speaker 4: I guess, yeah, you just have to be friends with someone,
- 22:05Speaker 4: and like you can't be like a problematic guy, Like
- 22:07Speaker 4: if you're going over there and they invite you, you
- 22:09Speaker 4: can't act like it's your own place because you're not
- 22:11Speaker 4: paying too. You're not paying it for anything.
- 22:13Speaker 2: So right, that makes sense?
- 22:16Speaker 4: Yeah, Okay, what are the biggest red flags sorority girls
- 22:20Speaker 4: seen fraternity guys? I guess if a fraternity guy's president
- 22:23Speaker 4: or high up on the exec board, is that attractive,
- 22:26Speaker 4: does that make him cooler? What do you guys think?
- 22:29Speaker 3: I think it could in a way of like they're
- 22:32Speaker 3: a little bit driven maybe, but like not like oh,
- 22:35Speaker 3: you're president, so you're cool, but like, oh, like you're
- 22:38Speaker 3: not just caring about partying and like this, like you
- 22:41Speaker 3: actually have a little bit of drive. I don't know.
- 22:42Speaker 3: I feel like I would be like, Okay, that's.
- 22:45Speaker 6: Nice if they had like a position in a school
- 22:49Speaker 6: club or something like that.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I'm like biased because I was sorority president,
- 22:54Speaker 1: So I'm like if it's a if you're in a sorority,
- 22:57Speaker 1: I feel like it's different.
- 22:58Speaker 2: But I do think it.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Means that you're really like well liked and well respected
- 23:02Speaker 1: within within your fraternity. I just would more be like,
- 23:07Speaker 1: why aren't you taking that? As someone who's done it.
- 23:11Speaker 1: It's so much time and dedication with like depending I
- 23:14Speaker 1: don't know what the payoffice for frats, I don't know.
- 23:18Speaker 1: I feel like it's really really well respected when you're
- 23:22Speaker 1: an underclassman because you're like, oh my gosh, he's the
- 23:26Speaker 1: president of SAE, Like right, body's so hot, or you're like,
- 23:30Speaker 1: who's the president of this sorority? But then when you're
- 23:32Speaker 1: actually that age or like oh wow, I can't believe
- 23:35Speaker 1: you actually did that.
- 23:36Speaker 3: About if they're the social chair, because I feel like
- 23:40Speaker 3: some of the guys at my school, the social chairs
- 23:41Speaker 3: thought they were like the shit and because like they
- 23:44Speaker 3: just said it on the parties and like who got
- 23:46Speaker 3: to go in? So like is that an eck to anyone?
- 23:48Speaker 3: Because like I think in high school they.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Were like really big energy, like I'm in charge of.
- 23:53Speaker 2: The risk yeah school, and.
- 23:56Speaker 3: They are selective about like who can go.
- 23:58Speaker 4: And they always sent out the text the horny yes,
- 24:02Speaker 4: the text.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Well, okay, if you're a social chair. Usually for us,
- 24:05Speaker 1: it was like if you were a sophomore, So that
- 24:07Speaker 1: meant that means like the juniors respected you enough to
- 24:11Speaker 1: like make or like the sophomores at the time respected
- 24:14Speaker 1: a freshman enough to make them the social chair when
- 24:16Speaker 1: they were sophomore. So I feel like it means you're well,
- 24:20Speaker 1: like but yeah, like is it kind of a dumb
- 24:22Speaker 1: gig and you're you really like, thank you're hot for like, yeah,
- 24:27Speaker 1: being the one that sends out the text and plans
- 24:29Speaker 1: how many pineapples are coming to Pineapple Tuesday?
- 24:32Speaker 3: Like what is that elaborate?
- 24:35Speaker 6: Please?
- 24:35Speaker 1: This is another specific party. But they would there was
- 24:40Speaker 1: one singap would do Pineapple Tuesday. We're like one Tuesday quarter.
- 24:44Speaker 1: They'd get all the pledges to core like hundreds of pineapples.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Like I think guys would be like, I've got so
- 24:52Speaker 1: many cuts from the pineapples and like, and it.
- 24:54Speaker 10: Would stay for the pineapple juice because they'd be like
- 24:58Speaker 10: poring them and then you carry one or on the
- 25:00Speaker 10: whole party, each girl, for each party person company to
- 25:03Speaker 10: the party, we'll be holding a pineapple full of whatever
- 25:06Speaker 10: drink you had.
- 25:07Speaker 2: My god, you guys, I miss fraternity party so much.
- 25:11Speaker 2: This stuff. It's so funny.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Afterwards you're like, oh my god, I gotta get ready
- 25:16Speaker 1: in my dorm for Pineapple Tuesday.
- 25:17Speaker 2: It's like, what am I gonna wear?
- 25:19Speaker 1: Who is a Hawaiian shirt? Do I wear a bikini
- 25:21Speaker 1: top or Hawaiian shirt to Pineapple Tuesday?
- 25:24Speaker 5: So you guys seriously have to live up go to
- 25:26Speaker 5: every fraternity party because the bars post college are Google.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Sorry, Reese, I know you just graduated.
- 25:33Speaker 6: But it's I don't even know what to say right now.
- 25:36Speaker 2: It's sad. It's sad.
